Transcript
- 0:00Hello my dear ones. This is Esther speaking to you
- 0:04from Switzerland. And today I want to invite you
- 0:08into a very honest reflection, one that has been unfolding
- 0:15quietly inside me for years and only recently became clear
- 0:22enough to put in 2 words. I've been thinking a lot about
- 0:28inner peace, Not as a concept, not as something spiritual or
- 0:35distant, but as a lived experience in my body, in my
- 0:42nervous system, in my everyday life.
- 0:47And maybe you know this too. There was a time in my life when
- 0:55if nothing dramatic was happening, no conflict, no
- 1:00tension, no emotional charge with another person, I felt
- 1:06empty, bored, almost invisible. I remember thinking, is this it?
- 1:17Is this really life? Back then, when I had challenges
- 1:23in my relationship or issues with my past when I was still
- 1:29employed, life felt intense and life meaningful.
- 1:37I didn't consciously search for problems, but they came to me
- 1:43again and again. And today I see something I
- 1:50couldn't see. Back then, my nervous system was
- 1:55programmed for stress, for tension, for emotional ups and
- 2:01downs. Calm felt unfamiliar.
- 2:06Peace felt unsafe. Stillness felt like something
- 2:12was wrong. And when nothing challenging
- 2:17happened, I didn't feel free. I felt depressed, worthless, as
- 2:26if I had no value without struggle.
- 2:31At that time, most of my friendships were built around
- 2:35problems. We talked for hours about what
- 2:40wasn't working, about partners, about family wounds, about being
- 2:46misunderstood, about how hard life was.
- 2:52We bonded through pain, not through joy.
- 2:57We rarely met just to enjoy being alive.
- 3:02Not for a walk in nature, Not for music, art, beauty or
- 3:08silence. Not for laughter without a heavy
- 3:13back story. Our connection was based on on
- 3:18processing, not on presence. And when I met new people, I
- 3:25felt especially drawn to those who carried similar struggles,
- 3:32difficult childhoods, family conflicts, stories of rejection
- 3:38or emotionally neglect. There was a strange sense of
- 3:45belonging in shared wounds. I also noticed something else.
- 3:52I often connected easily with women who had a very negative
- 3:58view of men. Men as absent fathers, men as
- 4:04unreliable, men as weak, show offy, emotionally unavailable.
- 4:13And suddenly we had something to talk about for hours.
- 4:18We could rant, Agree, confirm each other's pain.
- 4:25At the time, I thought this was connection.
- 4:30Today, while preparing this episode, I see it with so much
- 4:35clarity. I attracted people who mirrored
- 4:40my inner world. Same pain, same coping
- 4:45mechanism, same way of relating to life and the people who were
- 4:52calm, balanced, content with themselves, I found them boring,
- 5:00truly boring. At parties or gatherings, I
- 5:06barely spoke to them, they didn't stimulate my nervous
- 5:12system, they didn't trigger anything.
- 5:16And that alone tells me everything.
- 5:21Because over the last few years, something fundamental has
- 5:26changed inside me. Today, when I hear people
- 5:30complaining endlessly at the swimming pool in social
- 5:36settings, I feel it immediately in my body.
- 5:41My younger self would have joined in without hesitation.
- 5:48My current self listens and then chooses differently.
- 5:55I set boundaries, not harsh ones, but clear ones.
- 6:01I consciously look for someone else to talk to, someone
- 6:07present, someone light, someone who enjoys life instead of
- 6:13fighting it. And I no longer tried to build
- 6:18friendships with people who live in complaint.
- 6:24I'm done with it. And I say this without anger,
- 6:30just with deep self honesty. Even with people close to me, my
- 6:38father, an older woman I know, I call less often.
- 6:45I keep conversations shorter, not because I don't care, but
- 6:51because my inner peace matters. And I know this question might
- 6:58arise in you too. Isn't that selfish?
- 7:04Let me answer this from my heart.
- 7:08When I am at peace, I am more loving, more patient, more
- 7:14generous. I smile more easily at strangers
- 7:20in the shopping mall. I'm calmer in traffic.
- 7:25I listen with more presents to my clients.
- 7:30And yes, I am a better mother to my 2 adult sons.
- 7:37Peace doesn't disconnect me from people.
- 7:41It connects me more deeply. Peace allows me to serve without
- 7:49burning myself out. That's why inner peace has
- 7:55become non negotiable for me. Because peace and fear cannot
- 8:01coexist. When I am nervous and stressed,
- 8:07fear enters effortlessly. Fear about the future, about the
- 8:14next six months, about the next year, about everything that
- 8:20could go wrong. Fear loves uncertainty, and fear
- 8:27always pretends to be realistic. But inner peace only lives now,
- 8:36not in the past, not in imagined futures.
- 8:42And from peace, I suddenly have access to clarity, creativity,
- 8:50and strength. Peace doesn't protect me from
- 8:55difficult things, it equips me to face them.
- 9:01So for me, fear and peace are true opposites.
- 9:08If I nurture fear, peace disappears.
- 9:13If I consciously choose peace, fear loses its grip.
- 9:20The same is true for love, and the same is true for light and
- 9:27darkness. You cannot hold both at the same
- 9:31time. And here comes the most
- 9:35empowering truth of all. You get to choose every single
- 9:42day, every moment you feel triggered, every time your old
- 9:48patterns knock on the door. You can choose drama or peace,
- 9:56fear or trust, complaint or gratitude, old survival or new
- 10:06freedom. This choice is quiet, subtle,
- 10:12but incredibly powerful. And if you feel ready to make
- 10:19this shift, if something inside you says yes, I want more peace,
- 10:27I would love to support you. I'm offering a free one-on-one
- 10:33coaching session, a space for honesty, clarity, and gentle
- 10:40transformation. You'll find the link in the show
- 10:45notes. Thank you for listening.
- 10:48Thank you for choosing awareness.
- 10:52New episodes are released every Thursday, and until then, choose
- 10:59peace again and again with so much love.
