- 0:07Speaker 1: Hello.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I'm Sarah Henson, and you are watching the Potters touch.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Every now and then, we have those times when things
- 0:28Speaker 2: are just going great and we can forget the God
- 0:32Speaker 2: that made all of those things happen. This message is
- 0:35Speaker 2: a reminder that through the highs and lows of life,
- 0:39Speaker 2: God is always in the midst Take a look at
- 0:42Speaker 2: save the scraps, and remember your God.
- 0:46Speaker 3: I cooked up the night and putting the other day.
- 0:52Speaker 3: I didn't want to do it, but up under duress
- 0:54Speaker 3: and corson, I had to pull my apron out of
- 1:00Speaker 3: storage and fix the banana pudding. I told them banana
- 1:05Speaker 3: puddings have nothing to do with Thanksgiving. I said, that's
- 1:08Speaker 3: a summer dessert with ribs and baked beans and potato salad.
- 1:13Speaker 3: They said, well, it must be summer because we want
- 1:15Speaker 3: you to fix and and and I learned something, or
- 1:21Speaker 3: the children know something that I learned years ago.
- 1:25Speaker 4: It's good on the first.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Day, but if you wanted to really be right, it's
- 1:43Speaker 3: all about those leftovers on that second day, when all
- 1:47Speaker 3: of those seasonings have become so intertwined that you can't
- 1:51Speaker 3: tell what one from the other. Where you can't the
- 1:55Speaker 3: wafers have gotten together with the bananas and mixed all up.
- 2:05Speaker 3: So Jesus says, here's my dilemma. Here's my whole caste
- 2:09Speaker 3: this morning, Jesus says to them. When the whole event
- 2:13Speaker 3: is over and everybody's about to leave, Jesus speaks to
- 2:18Speaker 3: the disciples and says, gather up the scraps, and the
- 2:23Speaker 3: Bible is careful to give us inventory of how much
- 2:27Speaker 3: they had left. Twelve baskets full left. Now that's overcooking.
- 2:33Speaker 3: When you got twelve baskets full left, you didn't count right,
- 2:37Speaker 3: Twelve baskets full were left, and they loaded them on
- 2:43Speaker 3: the boat to leave. Now here's my dilemma.
- 2:47Speaker 4: Why did he have them gather the scraps?
- 2:52Speaker 3: And I would like to think in my mind that
- 2:56Speaker 3: maybe he thought they would get hungry again. But my
- 3:04Speaker 3: problem with that is if they were scraps, fishbones, half
- 3:11Speaker 3: eaten pieces crust off the bread, it doesn't seem very
- 3:18Speaker 3: appetizing that gathered leftovers stored in baskets could be preserved
- 3:27Speaker 3: for a future meal.
- 3:29Speaker 4: In the presence of a.
- 3:30Speaker 3: God who created something out of nothing, why do we
- 3:33Speaker 3: need to make these kinds of provisions for the next
- 3:36Speaker 3: meal when we didn't provide the first meal.
- 3:39Speaker 4: I'm trying to just help me.
- 3:40Speaker 3: I'm trying to understand the logic of saving the scraps.
- 3:46Speaker 3: They loaded the scraps on the boat, twelve basketsful. It
- 3:51Speaker 3: had been a long day for Jesus, perhaps one of
- 3:53Speaker 3: the most important days of his minister of career. Because
- 3:59Speaker 3: every other miracle, no matter how mighty or magnanimous it
- 4:02Speaker 3: may have been, this particular miracle has distinction because this
- 4:07Speaker 3: was the first time he had impacted that many people
- 4:11Speaker 3: at once. Five thousand people had a piece of the
- 4:14Speaker 3: miracle in their body. Five thousand people now hit the
- 4:18Speaker 3: streets talking about what happened. This is not like blind
- 4:21Speaker 3: bartered mass. This is not like the woman with issue blood.
- 4:25Speaker 3: This is not like Lazarus. This is not like the
- 4:27Speaker 3: Man and the tomb of Gatherings, where one person left
- 4:30Speaker 3: screaming comes see a man. Five thousand men, Not to mention,
- 4:34Speaker 3: the women and children have now hit the streets talked
- 4:36Speaker 3: about let me tell you what happened at church today.
- 4:41Speaker 3: He knew that once he impacted these five thousand men
- 4:46Speaker 3: plus women and children, that the news would spread rapidly.
- 4:51Speaker 3: And with the blessing comes the burden of being blessed.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Body wants the more. You know, give me more fish,
- 5:04Speaker 3: and give me more bread. Everybody wants the light, but
- 5:08Speaker 3: they can't take the heat. When you get more of
- 5:13Speaker 3: one thing, you get more than So at the end
- 5:15Speaker 3: of a long day, Jesus now goes to the mountain
- 5:19Speaker 3: to pray. I imagine he's saying, well, Father, I've done it. Now,
- 5:29Speaker 3: I have set it off. Fifteen thousand witnesses have been
- 5:35Speaker 3: dispatched into every village, every town, in every city with
- 5:39Speaker 3: a personal testimony, with a miracle in their belly, proof
- 5:44Speaker 3: positive that I am God in the flesh.
- 5:48Speaker 4: There's no turning back. He goes in the mountain to pray.
- 5:51Speaker 3: After putting the twelve baskets full on the boat and
- 5:55Speaker 3: telling the disciples to cross to the other side, he
- 5:57Speaker 3: goes on the mountain to get ready for the burden
- 6:03Speaker 3: of being blessed. He spent more time preparing himself for
- 6:09Speaker 3: the burden of being blessed than he did for the
- 6:12Speaker 3: blessing itself. He did that just by breaking the fish
- 6:16Speaker 3: and the bread. But when he saw the consequences that
- 6:18Speaker 3: when you send out something, when it comes back to you,
- 6:22Speaker 3: the pressure of the wave coming back is so strong,
- 6:25Speaker 3: he said, I better be ready to withstand the onslaught
- 6:28Speaker 3: of all that will come out of being blessed. Are
- 6:32Speaker 3: you prepared for the consequences of the blessing? He goes
- 6:38Speaker 3: to the mountain apart to pray and sends the disciples
- 6:41Speaker 3: across on the boat. And I'm through with the frame.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Let's go to the picture.
- 6:49Speaker 4: It is. He has prayed so long.
- 6:53Speaker 3: That the sun has gone down, the temperature has cooled,
- 6:59Speaker 3: the owls have begun to cool, the birds have nests
- 7:03Speaker 3: for the evening. He has prayed so long that the
- 7:07Speaker 3: temperatures have dropped, and the wind has begun to blow.
- 7:11Speaker 3: He has prayed so long that the weather has begun
- 7:15Speaker 3: to change, and inclement weather has broken out in such
- 7:19Speaker 3: dimensions that by the fourth watch of the night, the
- 7:24Speaker 3: disciples are tossed to and fro on the boat. Jesus
- 7:29Speaker 3: is on the mountain, the disciples are halfway across the
- 7:33Speaker 3: Lake of Genastroth, which is the Sea of Galilee, and
- 7:37Speaker 3: Jesus is on the mountain and knows that his disciples
- 7:42Speaker 3: are in trouble. I want to perhaps stop for a
- 7:46Speaker 3: minute and praise him not for his omnipresence, which means
- 7:54Speaker 3: he's everywhere, not for his omnipotence, which means he's all powerful.
- 7:58Speaker 4: But I want to praise him for some.
- 8:00Speaker 3: That we seldom thank him for his omniscience seians where
- 8:04Speaker 3: we get science. I'm not all knowing God that he
- 8:10Speaker 3: knows what we can't tell him.
- 8:19Speaker 4: One of them was danger. The third one was distance.
- 8:25Speaker 3: It was so dark at three o'clock in the morning,
- 8:30Speaker 3: the distance was so great, the danger from the storm
- 8:34Speaker 3: was so perilous. Either one of the three should have
- 8:38Speaker 3: stepped stopped the power from getting to the problem. But
- 8:43Speaker 3: when God gets ready to get to you, I don't
- 8:47Speaker 3: care how dark the night, I don't care how distant
- 8:52Speaker 3: the location. I don't care how dangerous the circumstance. When
- 8:56Speaker 3: He gets ready to come to you, he doesn't need
- 9:00Speaker 3: to hire a boat to join you in the process
- 9:04Speaker 3: and move at the same speed that you're moving at
- 9:07Speaker 3: to resolve the conflict. He has the advantage of being
- 9:11Speaker 3: able to walk on top of what is threatening to
- 9:14Speaker 3: take you under. I'm talking about your God, my God,
- 9:23Speaker 3: the water walking God. I'm talking about Jesus, who walks
- 9:29Speaker 3: on the stuff you're about to drown in. In the
- 9:34Speaker 3: third watch of the night, in the darkness, through the distance,
- 9:38Speaker 3: in the midst of the danger, here comes Jesus walking
- 9:44Speaker 3: over the stuff they're drowning in.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Still to come.
- 9:48Speaker 1: On the potter's time.
- 9:49Speaker 3: God is saying, I have come as close and I
- 9:52Speaker 3: am going to come. I have done as much and
- 9:56Speaker 3: I'm going to do now. The rest of it is
- 9:59Speaker 3: on you. If you don't invite me into your situation,
- 10:04Speaker 3: you will never see me snatch you out of a
- 10:08Speaker 3: situation that you enjoy being in.
- 10:15Speaker 4: The best miracles in your life.
- 10:19Speaker 5: Take time discover your blessing is right around the corner.
- 10:22Speaker 5: With Bishop Jake series in between miracles.
- 10:25Speaker 3: Sometimes you've got to get yourself structured and in bortar
- 10:28Speaker 3: so that you are ready to receive the magnitude of
- 10:31Speaker 3: what God has for you. If the enemy took your stocks,
- 10:34Speaker 3: and he took your bonds, and he took your benefits,
- 10:37Speaker 3: and he took your assurance at it took your job,
- 10:39Speaker 3: and it took your house, and he took your car,
- 10:42Speaker 3: as long as he didn't take your expectation, you can
- 10:45Speaker 3: still get a breakthrough. And there's no cute way to
- 10:48Speaker 3: be pushed. You gonna have to go through some tight places.
- 10:52Speaker 3: But when it's all said and done, God is going
- 10:56Speaker 3: to back you into lave. You have them off the fault.
- 11:04Speaker 5: Don't get discouraged by your circumstances. God has a plan
- 11:08Speaker 5: to bless you. Order this life changing series today when
- 11:11Speaker 5: you write to us, visit our website, or call one
- 11:13Speaker 5: eight hundred bishop to.
- 11:20Speaker 3: I would have thought that he was coming to them,
- 11:27Speaker 3: but he wasn't. Did you notice that he did not
- 11:33Speaker 3: come to them. He came near them, but he did
- 11:38Speaker 3: not come to them. They're over here, and he made
- 11:44Speaker 3: as if he would pass by. After all, they didn't
- 11:50Speaker 3: recognize him as being God anyway. In the storm, God
- 11:56Speaker 3: looks like a ghost. They feared for their lives and said,
- 12:07Speaker 3: that's a ghost coming, But it was God. Sometimes the
- 12:11Speaker 3: thing that you are apprehensive about coming to get you
- 12:14Speaker 3: is God coming in another form. He doesn't always look
- 12:18Speaker 3: like you think he ought to look. He will show
- 12:20Speaker 3: up in a circumstance that you say, Lord, if that
- 12:23Speaker 3: happens to me, is gonna take me under. But never
- 12:25Speaker 3: be a friend of him. He comes in many forms.
- 12:29Speaker 3: And the problems with the disciples is whenever Jesus showed
- 12:33Speaker 3: up in another form, they didn't recognize it and that's
- 12:35Speaker 3: the problem with religion, because religion teaches you a limited
- 12:41Speaker 3: point of reference for God. And if he doesn't look
- 12:45Speaker 3: like you think he ought to look, and if he
- 12:47Speaker 3: doesn't dress like you think he ought to dress, and
- 12:49Speaker 3: if he doesn't speak like you think he ought to speak,
- 12:51Speaker 3: you will reject him and run from what you think
- 12:55Speaker 3: is the ghost, not knowing that it is your answer
- 13:00Speaker 3: test three people say, it's not a ghost. It's not
- 13:09Speaker 3: a ghost, is not a ghost. And he came near them,
- 13:17Speaker 3: but he didn't come to them, because your God will
- 13:22Speaker 3: never break into your calamity if he's not invited into it.
- 13:33Speaker 3: Blind Bartimas would have never gotten healed if he didn't scream.
- 13:38Speaker 3: The ten lepers would have never been cleansed if they
- 13:41Speaker 3: didn't ask. The woman with the issue of blood would
- 13:45Speaker 3: have never been healed if she weren't really to crawl
- 13:48Speaker 3: over and touch the hymn of His garment. Jesus coming
- 13:52Speaker 3: near them without coming to them indicates our responsibility in
- 13:57Speaker 3: the restorative process to be engaged. You can't just be
- 14:02Speaker 3: a recipient of the blessing. You have to do something
- 14:06Speaker 3: to make it happen. I don't know who I'm preaching
- 14:09Speaker 3: to this morning. But God is saying, I have come
- 14:14Speaker 3: as close and I am going to come. I have
- 14:18Speaker 3: done as much and I'm going to do now. The
- 14:21Speaker 3: rest of it is on you. If you don't invite
- 14:24Speaker 3: me into your situation, you will never see me snatch
- 14:30Speaker 3: you out of a situation that you enjoy being in.
- 14:39Speaker 3: And before we criticize the disciples for thinking he was
- 14:44Speaker 3: the ghosts, understand that this is genaster It the sea
- 14:49Speaker 3: of Genesterith. It is understandable that they will think you
- 14:52Speaker 3: were the ghosts. This is the same sea when they
- 14:56Speaker 3: cast the demons out of Legion, and the demons requies
- 15:00Speaker 3: us that they go into the pigs, and the pigs
- 15:03Speaker 3: requested that they go into the sea. This is the
- 15:06Speaker 3: same sea that drowned the pigs that were possessed with
- 15:09Speaker 3: the devils. And out there in the dark, they started
- 15:12Speaker 3: thinking about all those pigs dying in that water. And
- 15:15Speaker 3: when they saw something coming, they said, oh my god,
- 15:18Speaker 3: it's a ghost. See, when you've already been through hell
- 15:20Speaker 3: and back, anything coming at you.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Threatens you all. Here it comes again. Once you have.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Had so many bad experiences, anything that moves near you,
- 15:50Speaker 3: you're so apprehensive. You already have a predisposed idea as
- 15:54Speaker 3: to what's going.
- 15:55Speaker 4: To happen next.
- 15:56Speaker 3: If you've been abused and abused and abused. When I
- 15:59Speaker 3: raised my hand, you jerk. I could be trying to
- 16:02Speaker 3: hand you a piece of bread, and you jerk. But
- 16:04Speaker 3: God said, don't be afraid of me. Fear not.
- 16:08Speaker 4: I didn't.
- 16:09Speaker 3: I didn't come to hurt you. I didn't come to
- 16:13Speaker 3: destroy you. I didn't come to repeat what was already
- 16:17Speaker 3: done in your life. I didn't come to terrorize you.
- 16:21Speaker 3: In fact, I was praying on the mountain when I
- 16:24Speaker 3: saw the winds gathering and the lightning flashing and the
- 16:28Speaker 3: thunder rolling, I was already coming to get you out
- 16:32Speaker 3: of the situation. God didn't wait till you get in
- 16:35Speaker 3: trouble to come when he sees trouble coming. While trouble
- 16:39Speaker 3: is coming this way, he's coming down this way, y'all,
- 16:43Speaker 3: don't hear what I'm saying.
- 16:48Speaker 4: I wish I had a witness.
- 16:51Speaker 3: I wish I had somebody who had had God snatch
- 16:55Speaker 3: you out of trouble just in the nick of time,
- 16:58Speaker 3: who had been through a half and back and just
- 17:01Speaker 3: when you thought you were going down for the last time.
- 17:05Speaker 3: I wish I had a witness. Look at somebody, say
- 17:24Speaker 3: he did it for me. He did it for me.
- 17:30Speaker 3: I was scared, but he did it for me. I
- 17:34Speaker 3: was faithless, but he did it for me. I was nervous,
- 17:40Speaker 3: but he did it for me. I was worried, but
- 17:43Speaker 3: he did it for me. I was frustrated, but he
- 17:46Speaker 3: did it for me. I was empty, but he did
- 17:50Speaker 3: it for me. I was longly, but he did it
- 17:53Speaker 3: for me. I wasn't praying, but he did it. And
- 18:05Speaker 3: the book says. The book says that when he said
- 18:11Speaker 3: fear not, be of good cheer, it is I. The
- 18:15Speaker 3: book says they didn't recognize his face, they didn't recognize
- 18:22Speaker 3: his walk, they didn't recognize his demeanor, they didn't recognize
- 18:28Speaker 3: his gaits, they didn't recognize his acts, but they recognized
- 18:35Speaker 3: his voice. He said, my sheep know my voice, and
- 18:41Speaker 3: a stranger they will not follow. When he said be
- 18:44Speaker 3: of good cheer, it is I. They said, hey, man,
- 18:47Speaker 3: that's Jesus.
- 18:47Speaker 4: That's Jesus.
- 18:48Speaker 3: I can't see him, but that's Jesus. We walk not
- 18:52Speaker 3: by sight but by faith. I can't see him, but
- 18:56Speaker 3: I know he is there. And so my text says
- 19:08Speaker 3: that Jesus gets on the boat, and then the wind ceased.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Wait a minute, then the wind cease.
- 19:27Speaker 4: This storm is not a storm at all.
- 19:35Speaker 3: This storm is a teaching opportunity contrived in a controlled environment.
- 19:46Speaker 3: He didn't rebuild the winds and the waves. When he
- 19:50Speaker 3: got on the boats, the winds and the waves stepped back.
- 19:55Speaker 3: They were only sent to create an environment for the
- 19:59Speaker 3: decip to have a discovery. I don't know who I'm
- 20:03Speaker 3: preaching to today, but the trouble that has come in
- 20:06Speaker 3: your life did not come to break you. It came
- 20:10Speaker 3: to introduce you to your God in a new and
- 20:14Speaker 3: a fresh way. It was never a storm. Since it
- 20:31Speaker 3: was never a storm, it was a test. It was
- 20:36Speaker 3: the test. Now, nah, I'm I'm older than most of yours,
- 20:39Speaker 3: and I'm gonna date myself when I tell this. But
- 20:41Speaker 3: we used to have what was called an open book test.
- 20:48Speaker 3: It meant that the questions were in the book and
- 20:53Speaker 3: the answers were in the back. It was designed to
- 20:59Speaker 3: teach you to read so that when you could not,
- 21:02Speaker 3: through your own mental capacities, remember the answer, you would
- 21:06Speaker 3: dig to the back of the book and get the
- 21:09Speaker 3: answers for the tests.
- 21:13Speaker 4: Suddenly, I recognize this storm.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Is just a test and the fish scraps that are
- 21:22Speaker 3: on the boat that I couldn't understand why they were
- 21:26Speaker 3: there in the first place, seeing as you couldn't eat
- 21:31Speaker 3: them as they were scraps. Now I understand that the
- 21:35Speaker 3: scraps were the answer to the tests of YO. Know
- 21:39Speaker 3: what I'm saying, Because when he got on the boat,
- 21:46Speaker 3: he was not disappointed that they had a storm. He
- 21:49Speaker 3: was not disappointed that they were afraid. He was disappointed
- 21:54Speaker 3: that they did not consider. He was disappointed that they
- 22:06Speaker 3: did not consider the loves.
- 22:10Speaker 4: The lesson for.
- 22:12Speaker 3: The tests before them was in the answer from the
- 22:17Speaker 3: tests behind them. I'm going I'm God never intended for
- 22:25Speaker 3: you to go through something and get nothing out of it.
- 22:31Speaker 3: He intended that every time you go through a test,
- 22:35Speaker 3: for you to come out of it with something else
- 22:38Speaker 3: on your boat that you never had before, so that
- 22:42Speaker 3: when you run into your next test, you will say,
- 22:46Speaker 3: if God did that, then he named He's able.
- 23:02Speaker 4: He's able to do this too.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Now you gotta help me preach now or three people say,
- 23:09Speaker 3: have you got anything in your boat? Have you got anything?
- 23:14Speaker 3: Have you learned anything about God? Have you been through anything?
- 23:18Speaker 3: Did he bring you out of anything? Did he make
- 23:21Speaker 3: a way out of no way? Did he deliver you
- 23:23Speaker 3: in a storm? Did he bring you out of a test?
- 23:35Speaker 2: I have to cut the message off right there, but
- 23:37Speaker 2: you've just gotten a little bit of a taste. You'll
- 23:39Speaker 2: have to join us next time. Before you go, we
- 23:42Speaker 2: have a few messages for you to listen to.

- 24:50Speaker 4: House, stable provider, girding, guarding, guiding, correcting.
- 24:58Speaker 3: He had to come to the end of things before
- 25:01Speaker 3: he discovered God, and I think that a lot of
- 25:03Speaker 3: this church age has had to.
- 25:05Speaker 4: Come to the end of things.
- 25:08Speaker 3: He was there when it started, he was there when
- 25:10Speaker 3: it ended. He was the stable place when everything was
- 25:13Speaker 3: going crazy, when you didn't acknowledge him as God or
