- 0:00Speaker 1: It's still.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Welcome everybody. Welcome to this week's edition It's Surreal to
- 0:20Speaker 2: Show episode number seven and fifty six for August eighth,
- 0:24Speaker 2: twenty twenty four. This year w SummerSlam Recap and Review
- 0:28Speaker 2: edition of ass R t Q. I am one aff
- 0:33Speaker 2: the show. I Am Jeff Peking joined every single week
- 0:37Speaker 2: from My coast on Only Not Trey Franklin, Doctor Trey
- 0:40Speaker 2: Say Franklin is tearing up kindergarten. My friend.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's it's a joyous and sad occasion for
- 0:48Speaker 1: me because, uh, I'm really.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Proud of my dude, Like, uh, no problem, No, Fear
- 0:54Speaker 3: went right to school yesterday, first day of kindergarten. Backpack
- 0:59Speaker 3: fully loaded down, Guess to school. Other kids are crying.
- 1:03Speaker 3: He's fine.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Tears on dad's face. So this is this is day
- 1:08Speaker 1: two as we record this, and everybody's gone. It's just
- 1:13Speaker 1: me and the dog and the cats, and I'm bored.
- 1:17Speaker 1: I miss my best friend.
- 1:18Speaker 3: I'm like I was telling somebody yesterday, if you've ever
- 1:21Speaker 3: seen Forrest Gump at the end of the movie, when
- 1:25Speaker 3: when Forrest puts his son on the bus and the
- 1:28Speaker 3: bus drives away and Forrest just stands there and waits
- 1:32Speaker 3: for his kid to come home. That's kind of how
- 1:35Speaker 3: I feel right now, Like my entire days, it's like,
- 1:38Speaker 3: all right, when when when when a Samy get out
- 1:40Speaker 3: of school? When do I gotta go pick him up?
- 1:42Speaker 3: Because I got nothing else going on, recovering from surgery
- 1:45Speaker 3: and stuff until he gets home.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Yeah, this is uh, this is definitely probably a weird
- 1:50Speaker 2: time for a parent, right, I mean, this is uh.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I'm not there yet. I saw four years and eleven
- 1:59Speaker 2: months maybe ten months until that happens. But yeah, I
- 2:02Speaker 2: mean I saw the photos you posted online yesterday and
- 2:04Speaker 2: I'm like, man, I can't imagine what he's going through today.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's it's weird for me because although I
- 2:13Speaker 3: have you know, I have my oldest Carmen, I have
- 2:16Speaker 3: my steps on.
- 2:18Speaker 1: This is my first time doing this at forty seven
- 2:23Speaker 1: years old.
- 2:23Speaker 3: So when my daughter started, when she started school, she
- 2:27Speaker 3: was going through homeschooling, and my ex wife and I
- 2:30Speaker 3: have separated. When I when I'm in my current wife,
- 2:33Speaker 3: my stepson was already in second and third grade.
- 2:36Speaker 1: So this is my first foray into this universe. And
- 2:40Speaker 1: I thought I'd be like, that'd be cool cooler about
- 2:44Speaker 1: it but uh no, Like we got to school and
- 2:48Speaker 1: you can walk them to class. You can walk them
- 2:49Speaker 1: to the classroom.
- 2:51Speaker 3: We sit there, there's some poor little boys sitting in
- 2:53Speaker 3: front of the door crying because his mom and dad
- 2:56Speaker 3: had just left.
- 2:58Speaker 1: And Sammy's just like look at him, like, what's up
- 3:00Speaker 1: with you? Man? Like why are you crying? And Mom
- 3:04Speaker 1: and I are there and Mom kneels down. I'mm a
- 3:07Speaker 1: hugget a kiss, and the teacher goes, hey, do you
- 3:10Speaker 1: guys want to get a picture? Before you know? He
- 3:12Speaker 1: goes in the classroom and we look over and Sammy like, hey, man,
- 3:15Speaker 1: you want to get picture. He's like, nope, I'm good.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Wow walked into class and I was like all right.
- 3:22Speaker 3: And so Mom and I both as we were walking
- 3:24Speaker 3: out through tears coming to her eyes, and uh yeah.
- 3:28Speaker 3: It's very emotional because for both of us, this is
- 3:30Speaker 3: the last kid we're going to have that goes to kindergarten.
- 3:33Speaker 1: And we got in the car to leave, and I
- 3:34Speaker 1: looked at I said, well, this is the last one
- 3:37Speaker 1: for us, but guess what's gonna happen. She goes what
- 3:38Speaker 1: I said, when the grandkids come, I'm doing this again
- 3:41Speaker 1: with the grandkids.
- 3:43Speaker 3: So I don't I don't know where they're going to
- 3:44Speaker 3: be at, but I'm gonna be there for first day
- 3:47Speaker 3: of kindergarten for the grand kid.
- 3:48Speaker 2: So to tie it all line of professional wrestling in
- 3:51Speaker 2: summer Stam weekend, was your reaction of sadness one that
- 3:55Speaker 2: was more Rhea Ripley or more Damian Priest.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Oh that's ooh, well, see Dami was more betrayal. They're
- 4:06Speaker 1: both betrayal. So I don't know if they really tie
- 4:09Speaker 1: into it. It's more like.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Did your Mascar run like like Rhea a little bit?
- 4:15Speaker 3: To me, it would be more like, you know, when
- 4:18Speaker 3: Ray and Dominic had their first tag match at WrestleMania,
- 4:22Speaker 3: feeling like Ray like, look at where my kids at.
- 4:25Speaker 3: How proud you would be like that kind of moment,
- 4:30Speaker 3: just choked up, just super happy and proud of seeing
- 4:33Speaker 3: Then when you get a note from the teacher every
- 4:36Speaker 3: day one they're like, Sammy Franklin is such a sweetheart,
- 4:39Speaker 3: can't wait to see how much he grows this year.
- 4:42Speaker 3: And I took that more mental growth in our physical growth,
- 4:45Speaker 3: because Lord knows, I don't need to get other kids
- 4:47Speaker 3: older than me. Like just makes you really proud to
- 4:51Speaker 3: be thinking like, Okay, I've created a really good.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Person so far.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Interesting you you tied it back to a very good
- 4:59Speaker 2: professional arrest lane analogy there. I like the team match
- 5:03Speaker 2: from WrestleMania. It's you and Sammy and your jackets, paying
- 5:08Speaker 2: homage to Eddie Guerrero and his former tag team partner
- 5:13Speaker 2: and doing the damn thing for the first day of kindergarten.
- 5:16Speaker 3: So I'm sure at some point we will have a
- 5:21Speaker 3: custody of Sammy Franklin ladder match at some point in
- 5:24Speaker 3: my wrestling career. So and that's Summer flam.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Esque as well.
- 5:27Speaker 2: There you go, There you go, all tied in there,
- 5:29Speaker 2: doctor Trey dropping his son off, young Sammy Franklin, our
- 5:34Speaker 2: Royal Rumble analysts. He's like our Melchiper junior to the
- 5:40Speaker 2: NFL Draft, he would be our Royal Rumble analyst, and
- 5:43Speaker 2: now he is. He's in kindergarten. I'm hopeful Doctor Trey
- 5:46Speaker 2: that come Royal Rumble like that. He doesn't Hollywood US now,
- 5:50Speaker 2: like he's still okay with doing the Royal Rumble predictions
- 5:54Speaker 2: like he's done every year with his toys.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Well, he did get really excited on Monday, or was Tuesday.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Tuesday we went to the store and he had kind
- 6:03Speaker 3: of not been picking WW wrestlers for his new toys
- 6:07Speaker 3: for a little bit. Uh, but he came across a
- 6:10Speaker 3: million Dollar Man action figure and picked it out.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Uh.
- 6:14Speaker 3: So because he had the it was the green suited
- 6:17Speaker 3: one with the money symbols on it. He got really
- 6:19Speaker 3: excited about it. Uh And I did too, because Debiosis
- 6:22Speaker 3: one of the first guys I ever saw wrestle in
- 6:24Speaker 3: person when I was about Sammy's age. So, uh, you know,
- 6:27Speaker 3: I think he's adding to his collection and preparation for
- 6:31Speaker 3: the Royal Rumbles so he could do more prognostication.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Tuned that That is not something I've read right now
- 6:36Speaker 2: where the million Dollar Man ted TOBIASI could potentially win
- 6:39Speaker 2: the Royal Rumble.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean money talks.
- 6:42Speaker 3: I mean everybody's got a price, and so apparently, you know,
- 6:44Speaker 3: I mean obviously Vince had a price because he we
- 6:47Speaker 3: sold WW to TKO. So I mean, if if the
- 6:49Speaker 3: million Dollar Man showed up and the money was right,
- 6:52Speaker 3: I'm sure Adam Pierceky dropped him in at number thirty
- 6:54Speaker 3: and just see the chips fall.
- 6:56Speaker 2: It's so funny that, like thirty years later that the
- 6:59Speaker 2: term million dollar man is like, I guess what would
- 7:02Speaker 2: have been like the thousand dollars man back in the
- 7:04Speaker 2: eighties at this point because people are just we're not
- 7:07Speaker 2: talking millions anymore. We're in the billions with a bee.
- 7:10Speaker 2: So there you go. Lots going on in the world
- 7:12Speaker 2: outside of SRTU here on this week's edition. My son
- 7:16Speaker 2: not in kindergarten. He's he's sleeping somewhere right now, hopefully
- 7:22Speaker 2: and not screaming. I'm looking for the day where he
- 7:25Speaker 2: makes in an appearance on the show verbally by just
- 7:28Speaker 2: yelling whether it's a typer change or he's hungry. So
- 7:31Speaker 2: stay tuned for that. But let's get into SummerSlam. Doctor Trey.
- 7:35Speaker 2: He actually watched it with me for a little bit,
- 7:37Speaker 2: sat down, watched it for a little bit. Then he
- 7:40Speaker 2: got fussy. He got really upset when the whole Ria
- 7:43Speaker 2: Live Morgan dominic stuff went down, and then he went
- 7:45Speaker 2: to bed pretty quickly after that. He just couldn't take
- 7:47Speaker 2: it anymore. So let's getting the SummerSlam recap review this
- 7:51Speaker 2: past Saturday from Cleveland Brown Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. The
- 7:56Speaker 2: first match here Live Morgan defeats Rheo Ripley to retain
- 7:59Speaker 2: the Women's World Championship. We both had Live Morgan in
- 8:02Speaker 2: this one. Dom has finally turned on Rihada Ripley and
- 8:05Speaker 2: a line was Live Morgan after an incredible build over
- 8:07Speaker 2: the last several months. This was a really good match,
- 8:10Speaker 2: and I enjoyed how liv Morgan was booked in this
- 8:12Speaker 2: match prior to Dom's interference. I liked that the interference
- 8:15Speaker 2: that led to the pin wasn't completely known at the
- 8:17Speaker 2: time if it was accidental or purposely done until they
- 8:19Speaker 2: had Dom pick up Live for the kiss. Great stuff
- 8:22Speaker 2: here in the build and the actual match itself. I
- 8:24Speaker 2: really enjoy this one is Live Morgan defeat Reader Ripley,
- 8:27Speaker 2: Doctor Trey. Yeah.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I really liked it on two parts. A.
- 8:31Speaker 3: You know, it kind of solidified Rhea as a babyface
- 8:34Speaker 3: because you don't you don't do the lethal weapon relocate
- 8:40Speaker 3: the shoulder for a heel, you do that for a
- 8:42Speaker 3: badass baby face, and we kind of saw that twice
- 8:45Speaker 3: in the match. I also liked it because the show
- 8:48Speaker 3: once again lives a main eventor like lives super good
- 8:52Speaker 3: in the ring. She can tell a story, her facials
- 8:55Speaker 3: are phenomenal, so just really really kill her. Opening match
- 8:59Speaker 3: between two. I mean this is you know, you have
- 9:03Speaker 3: a big powerhouse and a one hundred and ten pound
- 9:07Speaker 3: woman going at it, and you have a compelling matchup.
- 9:09Speaker 1: So it was a good storytelling, good end, and we.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Had a heel turn even more heel, which is something
- 9:17Speaker 3: you really don't see a professional wrestling, So it was
- 9:19Speaker 3: great for everybody involved there.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I really enjoyed this one. It was a great way
- 9:23Speaker 2: to kick off the show. And this is what we discussed,
- 9:25Speaker 2: right Doctor Trey. We felt that one of the two
- 9:28Speaker 2: Judgment Day matches was more than likely going to kick
- 9:31Speaker 2: off the show, and we felt that if Cody, which
- 9:34Speaker 2: we'll get to you later on, and Solo we're closing
- 9:36Speaker 2: the show, that there would be a bigger domino piece
- 9:39Speaker 2: to fall. Once I saw this take place and like, okay,
- 9:42Speaker 2: we're going to see that Judgment Day implosion taking shape
- 9:46Speaker 2: here at SummerSlam.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Yeah, and even the payoff on Monday was really well
- 9:51Speaker 3: don which I'm sure we'll get to a little bit later,
- 9:53Speaker 3: but yeah, it kind of laid out almost exactly like
- 9:57Speaker 3: we kind of thought it was, with you have the
- 9:59Speaker 3: first Judgment Day turn leading into the implosion later on.
- 10:02Speaker 1: So yeah, it although we predicted it.
- 10:06Speaker 3: It was still good storytelling and to see it come
- 10:09Speaker 3: to fruition on TV was really satisfying.
- 10:11Speaker 2: And what I really liked about this is they didn't
- 10:13Speaker 2: ignore the behind the scenes stuff with a Judgment Day.
- 10:16Speaker 2: So you have in between I think this match and
- 10:18Speaker 2: the next one on which was Brown Breaker and Sammy Zain,
- 10:21Speaker 2: you have Damien Priest going into the Judgment Day locker
- 10:24Speaker 2: room being like what the hell was that about? I
- 10:26Speaker 2: think it was right after this match. It may have
- 10:28Speaker 2: been after the Intercomital title match, but it was definitely
- 10:31Speaker 2: early on the show. Did Finn know about this? JD
- 10:36Speaker 2: and Carlito We're gonna go look for domb Nobody could
- 10:39Speaker 2: get a hold of dumb. So you still had this
- 10:41Speaker 2: like quasi, you know, how is Damien taking this news?
- 10:44Speaker 2: How is the Judgment Day taking this news? And I
- 10:47Speaker 2: really really appreciated w creative doing that. Doubt true because
- 10:50Speaker 2: I think that helped further along the storyline taking place
- 10:53Speaker 2: within the show.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Yeah, and not to mention, it also helped set up
- 10:57Speaker 3: Damien's match with Gunther where like Finn's like, look, I'll
- 11:00Speaker 3: handle this. You need to focus on your match. I
- 11:03Speaker 3: know you said you don't need me, but if you do,
- 11:05Speaker 3: I'll be there for you that it does. So it's
- 11:07Speaker 3: still kind of foreshadowed there, but like you said, it's
- 11:11Speaker 3: one of those little small things in wrestling, and you
- 11:13Speaker 3: know this is one of things to be knock aw about.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Is something just happened in the ring. When you go
- 11:18Speaker 3: back stage, don't ignore it. Tie it all together and
- 11:22Speaker 3: create your storyline. So like, even though, like I said earlier,
- 11:25Speaker 3: like we kind of knew, like you and I had
- 11:27Speaker 3: an idea of how the show is going to play out,
- 11:30Speaker 3: it's still great storytelling to see it actually play out
- 11:32Speaker 3: on TV the way it should.
- 11:35Speaker 2: The next match, who was bron Breaker defeating Sammy's Ain
- 11:38Speaker 2: to win the WI Interccount Little Championship. We both had
- 11:40Speaker 2: bron Breaker and this one putting the town on Braun
- 11:42Speaker 2: was the right calls. Braun needs this title to elevate
- 11:44Speaker 2: his career in a time for Sammy to enter the
- 11:46Speaker 2: main event picture, as he is someone I could see
- 11:48Speaker 2: winning the world. They have a wait championship over the
- 11:50Speaker 2: next six to twelve months, I would say right now
- 11:52Speaker 2: an early favorite for me to potentially win the Royal
- 11:55Speaker 2: Rumbull in twenty twenty five. Going back to Young Sammy
- 11:58Speaker 2: Franklin discussion earlier on the show, The biggest surprise here
- 12:01Speaker 2: was how short this match was. To me, I would
- 12:02Speaker 2: love to see an Intercontinental title picture led by bron
- 12:05Speaker 2: Breaker and Ely dragging off for the rest of the
- 12:07Speaker 2: year moving forward. There have been kind of inklings that
- 12:10Speaker 2: that may be the case onto the time part. It
- 12:14Speaker 2: later was revealed, I think maybe from Frightful Select a
- 12:16Speaker 2: couple of days later, that this match had ten minutes
- 12:19Speaker 2: a LOTT and it went shorter than the ten minutes,
- 12:22Speaker 2: which is rare in wrestling. So I don't know what
- 12:24Speaker 2: was going on there from the timing sense of things,
- 12:26Speaker 2: but bron Breaker, as you knew Intercontinental Champion Doctor Try.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Yeah, a little surprising on the time because the previous
- 12:33Speaker 3: pla their match was much longer and a little more
- 12:36Speaker 3: you know, build for both guys, and this one kind
- 12:39Speaker 3: of I don't It wasn't squashous, but it was just
- 12:42Speaker 3: very very quick. I kind of want to see a
- 12:45Speaker 3: little bit more, especially if you're going to move Sammy
- 12:47Speaker 3: on to something else, whether it's the Judgment day stuff
- 12:50Speaker 3: or into the main event title picture. I honestly was
- 12:52Speaker 3: surprised that he wasn't Dump's challenger for Germany coming up,
- 12:57Speaker 3: But yeah, I.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Just felt like it was a little short, a little rushed.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Great because he says a really good Frankensteiner though on
- 13:04Speaker 3: that match, So just it was good, but it could
- 13:08Speaker 3: have been much better.
- 13:09Speaker 1: It's definitely not one of the better matchups they've had.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Agreed, No, the Money in the Bank match was much
- 13:14Speaker 2: better than what we saw at SummerSlam over the weekend.
- 13:19Speaker 2: I really enjoyed that one, and I like the back
- 13:21Speaker 2: and forth. This was just Braun basically dominating Samy's Ain,
- 13:24Speaker 2: which was really surprising. But again, I think it's one
- 13:27Speaker 2: of those things where it's like, this is we're taking
- 13:30Speaker 2: Sammy out of the upper mid card, mid card however
- 13:32Speaker 2: you want to look at it, and we need to
- 13:33Speaker 2: elevate him now to the main event title picture. Plus,
- 13:37Speaker 2: I think Sammy plays a role in what we see
- 13:39Speaker 2: at the end of the show with the Cody Rhodes
- 13:42Speaker 2: solo Soakoa match, because I think what you're seeing on
- 13:45Speaker 2: Raw take place with the interactions with Jay Usso and
- 13:47Speaker 2: Sammy Zain is part of a longer term play as well,
- 13:50Speaker 2: and their potential roles heading here into the rest of
- 13:53Speaker 2: twenty twenty four. Next match, Doctor Trey is La Knight
- 13:56Speaker 2: defeating Logan Paul to win the w United States Championship.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Logan Pol you at La Night. It was time for
- 14:02Speaker 2: La Night to be crowning Singles Champion WI and it
- 14:04Speaker 2: was time for Logan Pol to drop the United States
- 14:06Speaker 2: Championship as well. Fun back and forth match that had
- 14:09Speaker 2: some really good chemistry between these two guys. I would
- 14:11Speaker 2: love to see at La Night Logan Paul rematch, but
- 14:13Speaker 2: I wonder if this means we will see Logan off
- 14:16Speaker 2: at WE Television for a bit. The I hate to
- 14:20Speaker 2: use the word botched because they ended up saving it
- 14:23Speaker 2: as a top rope brainbuster, which is absurd to say
- 14:26Speaker 2: out loud. But the superplex that wasn't a superplex that
- 14:30Speaker 2: was a brainbuster, I guess actually shook up Logan Paul
- 14:33Speaker 2: a bit that I watched it in a livetime scare
- 14:36Speaker 2: the crap out of me as it was happening, Like
- 14:38Speaker 2: it was one of those like you couldn't watch it,
- 14:41Speaker 2: but you had to watch it to see what happened.
- 14:44Speaker 2: This was a good one. Doctor Trey La Night finally
- 14:46Speaker 2: gets to each Singles Championship in wa Man.
- 14:49Speaker 3: We got an MJ MGK sighting, which I don't think
- 14:52Speaker 3: we've seen him since he got power bombed off the stage.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Am I wrong?
- 14:56Speaker 2: On that?
- 14:56Speaker 1: Was that the first?
- 14:57Speaker 2: I think this was the first time since the whole
- 14:59Speaker 2: Kevin Owen stuff. Yeah, I was. I was thrilled the
- 15:01Speaker 2: MGK was back, and so was the crowd. They would
- 15:03Speaker 2: nut not really.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I was just like, wow, okay, so we're just gonna
- 15:08Speaker 1: pull out every random person? Okay, yeah, great? But uh
- 15:12Speaker 1: yeah it was.
- 15:12Speaker 3: It was a fine match and there, like, the chemistry
- 15:15Speaker 3: was pretty solid. They had their good moments. The top
- 15:18Speaker 3: rope super flex slash, Brainbuster slash, I don't know, one
- 15:22Speaker 3: of the few times we've seen maybe a misstep by
- 15:25Speaker 3: Logan Paul in his young career. Then the Raymisterio spot
- 15:30Speaker 3: from a was a rest snow of a Survivor series
- 15:34Speaker 3: time somewhere there. But yeah, I mean he's gonna have
- 15:38Speaker 3: a couple of missteps here and there, but overall, like
- 15:41Speaker 3: solid US title run and and potentially depending on how
- 15:45Speaker 3: this whole Bloodline thing shakes out, I mean, he could
- 15:48Speaker 3: be one of the people in line that challenged Cody
- 15:51Speaker 3: once solo and the Bloodline transition off to somebody else.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Cody needs challengers, and they already had one good match,
- 15:58Speaker 3: and it would make sense to put him back into
- 15:59Speaker 3: that pictures. So good for in great for Alla Night,
- 16:03Speaker 3: because this was a make or break for me.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I think you heard Corey Graves.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Mentioned it on the on the team that you know
- 16:11Speaker 3: he's had all this momentum for the better part of
- 16:13Speaker 3: a year and a half. If they didn't strike now,
- 16:17Speaker 3: I didn't think they were going to do it. So
- 16:18Speaker 3: it was gonna see them playing pull the trigger and
- 16:20Speaker 3: put a title on LA nine.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Next match here is Nia Jacks defeeding Bailey to win
- 16:24Speaker 2: the W Women's Championship. We both had Bailey in this one.
- 16:28Speaker 2: This puts an end to an unfortunately underwhelming title run
- 16:31Speaker 2: for Bailey, as Nia Jacks, who has had some really
- 16:34Speaker 2: good creative and billed as of late, is the new
- 16:36Speaker 2: w Women's Champion. Ni holding the title could potentially save
- 16:39Speaker 2: Bailey's twenty twenty fourth They decide to still have her
- 16:42Speaker 2: be the babyface and I a seal character moving forward.
- 16:45Speaker 2: The underwhelming run for Bailey is totally not her fault.
- 16:48Speaker 2: The creative just hasn't been there, and I wonder if
- 16:50Speaker 2: fans had a tough time connecting with this version of
- 16:53Speaker 2: Bailey turning babyface after her really really good heel run.
- 16:58Speaker 2: I still think that hugger Bailey should return once she
- 17:00Speaker 2: turned baby face, but that's just me. Nia is the
- 17:03Speaker 2: new WA Women's Champion. They tease a cash in to
- 17:07Speaker 2: distract Bailey, which was really good match creative stuff as well.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Your thoughts here, doctor Trey's nay Jack's is your new
- 17:14Speaker 2: women's champ.
- 17:15Speaker 3: So we've been doing this show for a very long time,
- 17:19Speaker 3: and Naya has been one of my most heavily criticized
- 17:22Speaker 3: performers during this run, but the last this second run
- 17:27Speaker 3: of hers, has been so good. And I'm going to
- 17:29Speaker 3: point out where I actually enjoy watching Naya in the ring.
- 17:33Speaker 3: There are still moments where it feels like, Okay, that
- 17:36Speaker 3: might be a little dangerous, but the stuff when she's
- 17:39Speaker 3: talking trash in the ring is so good. You know,
- 17:42Speaker 3: like there's a spot in there where she was just
- 17:44Speaker 3: hammering on Bailey and yelling out, you know, calling me reckless,
- 17:48Speaker 3: calling me dangerous, like all those things like that.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I really enjoy that.
- 17:51Speaker 3: And so to me, this is the right move for
- 17:55Speaker 3: them because you have the Tiffany characters kind of the underling.
- 17:58Speaker 3: This is in a way kind of setting have like
- 18:00Speaker 3: the Tony Storm Mariah May stuff that we saw in
- 18:03Speaker 3: aw where you have a champion with an underling. At
- 18:07Speaker 3: some point, the underling has a reason to turn on
- 18:12Speaker 3: you know, her, her leege, her person that she's following.
- 18:16Speaker 3: So I'm really anxious to see how well this plays out.
- 18:19Speaker 3: And you know, Hugger Bailey, uh would be great. And
- 18:23Speaker 3: we saw tassels on Bailey's outfit and I don't know
- 18:26Speaker 3: if you've known that when she's coming downs like she's
- 18:29Speaker 3: got the little streamer tassels going on. We haven't really
- 18:31Speaker 3: seen that since the Hugger days. So maybe this is
- 18:34Speaker 3: a little foreshadowing that eventually we will.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Get more of the full blowed old school Bailey babyface character.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's been. It's been a disappointing run. It's
- 18:44Speaker 2: it's unfortunate. She's very, very likable, a great in ring worker,
- 18:48Speaker 2: one of our favorite wrestlers we've covered here in the
- 18:50Speaker 2: history of the podcast. I just think it was a
- 18:53Speaker 2: really hard transition Doctor Trevor people to accept that heel
- 18:56Speaker 2: character of Bailey as a babyface. It's it just felt
- 19:00Speaker 2: like it never really transitioned well from turning her heel
- 19:03Speaker 2: back to babyface. I would have liked to see in
- 19:06Speaker 2: a little bit more here, And I think that Hugger
- 19:07Speaker 2: Bailey era is ones that the fans are kind of
- 19:10Speaker 2: clamoring for because it's been like five years at this point.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it's really hard to take somebody who
- 19:16Speaker 3: was so despised and turned them babyface even though they
- 19:20Speaker 3: did the beat down angle, but the character of Bailey
- 19:24Speaker 3: didn't really change. It was still basically the same music,
- 19:27Speaker 3: her still calling herself a role model. It didn't really
- 19:31Speaker 3: change it all. So it's really hard for fans to go, oh,
- 19:35Speaker 3: I really like her now she's changed when she didn't
- 19:38Speaker 3: really change it all.
- 19:39Speaker 1: So it's kind of hard to really get that audience
- 19:42Speaker 1: behind you in that role.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I totally agree. It was the character never really
- 19:47Speaker 2: did anything that was like, I I'm sorry for everything
- 19:50Speaker 2: that I did. I mean, she was such a good
- 19:52Speaker 2: heel character during that five year run almost that it
- 19:55Speaker 2: was like, I think she needed to mend a couple
- 19:57Speaker 2: of fences because she was so damn good with the
- 19:58Speaker 2: fan base. And it really occurred because the fans want
- 20:01Speaker 2: her to be Babyface. It's just the character was such
- 20:05Speaker 2: a really good heel. Next match here is Drew McIntire
- 20:08Speaker 2: defeating cmpunk with Seth Freakin Rollins a special guest referee.
- 20:11Speaker 2: We both had Drew McIntyre the fact that a friendship
- 20:15Speaker 2: bracelet with his wife and the dog's name on it
- 20:17Speaker 2: truly costs cmpunk. This match was interesting booking. I can
- 20:22Speaker 2: partially get behind that due to symbolism, and I can
- 20:24Speaker 2: partially get behind it being totally ridiculous as well. I
- 20:27Speaker 2: really like how the an announcers pumped up that Seampunk's
- 20:30Speaker 2: anger basically got in the wave and winning the match.
- 20:32Speaker 2: I had high expectations for this match, and I feel
- 20:34Speaker 2: like the execution may have felt a little flat. This
- 20:37Speaker 2: has been my favorite w FU this year so far,
- 20:39Speaker 2: and I was hoping for a little more on Saturday night.
- 20:41Speaker 2: This did not mean it was a bad match by
- 20:43Speaker 2: any means. I was just hoping for a holy shit,
- 20:46Speaker 2: that was a great, that was great moment and they
- 20:49Speaker 2: and instead focused a lot on a friendship bracelet. And
- 20:54Speaker 2: I know Triple H called this match a masterpiece. Again,
- 20:57Speaker 2: there's symbolism, but there I just have a tough time
- 21:00Speaker 2: as a thirty eight year old male to get behind
- 21:04Speaker 2: the symbolism, meaning thoughts of this friendship bracelet being the
- 21:08Speaker 2: cause of so much angst and anger between the two
- 21:10Speaker 2: of them, Doctor Trey. It is borderline silly, but it's
- 21:14Speaker 2: also borderline makes sense. It's a very weird spot for
- 21:17Speaker 2: me as a fan of be In. So that's where
- 21:19Speaker 2: I'm standing on a theentire thing. Your thoughts on this one, Yeah,
- 21:24Speaker 2: it's real.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Like so the match itself, everything leading up to the finish.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I enjoyed the match.
- 21:28Speaker 3: I mean, this is probably the best Punk has looked
- 21:31Speaker 3: in quite some time. I mean this is his first
- 21:34Speaker 3: match back, and you know what, nine months, ten months,
- 21:38Speaker 3: I can't remember how long it's been since.
- 21:40Speaker 1: He's actually been in WW since he left the aw
- 21:42Speaker 1: but he looked really good in this match.
- 21:45Speaker 3: The symbolism behind the friendship bracelet, as you as you
- 21:49Speaker 3: call it, I love it because Larry may be the
- 21:53Speaker 3: most divisive dog in the history of modern sports. I
- 21:59Speaker 3: mean he literally cause this owner to basically kind of
- 22:03Speaker 3: get fired for one job, and now he causes owner
- 22:05Speaker 3: a match at SummerSlam because of how much his owner
- 22:08Speaker 3: loves him. So Larry maybe not be the best dog
- 22:11Speaker 3: in the world or at at the very least the
- 22:14Speaker 3: worst good luck charm or maybe the worst man's best
- 22:17Speaker 3: friend in quite some time. I get it on the
- 22:21Speaker 3: sense of the way it played out, because I thought
- 22:23Speaker 3: it was very clever how they did it, how the
- 22:26Speaker 3: bracelet came off. Seth being the ref just does what
- 22:29Speaker 3: the ref does and picks it up and instead of
- 22:32Speaker 3: just tossing it to.
- 22:33Speaker 1: The corner, put it on.
- 22:34Speaker 3: And because of everything that had let into it before,
- 22:37Speaker 3: with Seth saying I hate you, I hate you, calling
- 22:39Speaker 3: you down the middle, and a couple other things going
- 22:41Speaker 3: on the match, when he sees it on the wrist,
- 22:44Speaker 3: he's like, oh crap, you're actually with Drew or you're
- 22:47Speaker 3: siding with Drew against him. So I kind of understood
- 22:50Speaker 3: the simpleness, but you're absolutely right as a grown ass
- 22:53Speaker 3: man to kind of like, go, this whole match ended
- 22:57Speaker 3: over this bracelet.
- 23:00Speaker 1: You know, it is what it is.
- 23:01Speaker 3: You can also blame Triple H because if your no
- 23:03Speaker 3: is Triple H and I do the same thing, where's
- 23:06Speaker 3: a lot of bracelets. So maybe that was his kind
- 23:09Speaker 3: of thing, like I love my bracelet. So it makes
- 23:10Speaker 3: a lot of sense that this could cost somebody a
- 23:13Speaker 3: match of SummerSlam. It is a weird way to kind
- 23:15Speaker 3: of end this match, but I'm excited for what happened
- 23:21Speaker 3: on Raw with the interactions leading into so it's like, Okay,
- 23:25Speaker 3: we might get a rerun of this and then sets
- 23:27Speaker 3: off on something else now to to kind of take
- 23:30Speaker 3: him out of the picture. So maybe the next match
- 23:32Speaker 3: they'll just do the bracelet on a pole match that
- 23:35Speaker 3: we're all clamoring for.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's a really it's a really tough thing
- 23:41Speaker 2: for a guy my age to be like, oh my god,
- 23:44Speaker 2: put that bracelet down, you son of a bitch. Like
- 23:47Speaker 2: I can find I could be relatable to.
- 23:49Speaker 3: This if it was a wedding ring, you know, which
- 23:52Speaker 3: I think we've seen that done before. But if it
- 23:55Speaker 3: was the wedding ring, like that would have a little
- 23:57Speaker 3: more impact on you, though, could I mean, because you're
- 23:59Speaker 3: a married man, I'm a married man. You and I
- 24:01Speaker 3: both have dogs that we absolutely love. We just don't
- 24:04Speaker 3: have bracelets with our wife and dog's name on it.
- 24:08Speaker 3: But you know, if somebody stole your wedding ring, was
- 24:10Speaker 3: taunting you at the wedding ring, that would be a
- 24:12Speaker 3: little more impactful, right.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Well, you know what I thought, I agree with what
- 24:16Speaker 2: you're saying, I'll answer that part. Yes, I think that
- 24:19Speaker 2: would be more relatable to most people than the friendship bracelet,
- 24:23Speaker 2: I will say. And this kind of maybe leads us
- 24:27Speaker 2: onto where aj Lee's current thoughts on a reigniting her
- 24:33Speaker 2: wrestling career is. I think some sort of segment leading
- 24:36Speaker 2: into this where you know, Punk's in the ring, the
- 24:38Speaker 2: classic w segment, punks in the ring kind of promo,
- 24:41Speaker 2: and they cut via satellite or you know, Drew McIntyre's
- 24:44Speaker 2: on his cell phone facetiming into w WEE or whatever,
- 24:47Speaker 2: and he's entering the home apartment wherever seem Punk and
- 24:51Speaker 2: aj Lee live in Chicago, Illinois. And that right there,
- 24:55Speaker 2: you've got Larry in the in the in the mix,
- 24:57Speaker 2: You've got aj Lee in the mix, and you've got
- 24:59Speaker 2: like this really cool, subtle way of welcoming her back
- 25:02Speaker 2: to WE Television for the first time in nearly ten
- 25:05Speaker 2: years to help promote this storyline. And I thought that
- 25:08Speaker 2: would have been a little bit more impactful. And maybe
- 25:10Speaker 2: that's where I get behind it, because the fact that
- 25:12Speaker 2: you don't see aj Lee and you don't see Larry
- 25:15Speaker 2: involved in storyline is it's a little bit strange. I mean,
- 25:19Speaker 2: they don't even run vignettes. It's just the friendship bracelet's
- 25:23Speaker 2: the only thing. And it's like crazy to me that
- 25:26Speaker 2: that's like what's driving so much to anger for seeing
- 25:29Speaker 2: Punk of all people.
- 25:30Speaker 3: It's a little bit of one thing we used to
- 25:33Speaker 3: knock aw for, which was they would run promos on
- 25:36Speaker 3: being or they would run stuff on being the Elite
- 25:39Speaker 3: and put it on and then go to the angle
- 25:43Speaker 3: on television and people like us that didn't watch that show, like,
- 25:45Speaker 3: I don't really get this. In a lot of ways,
- 25:47Speaker 3: they're kind of banking on the hardcore wrestling fans to
- 25:51Speaker 3: hey know who aj Lee is be understand the relationship
- 25:55Speaker 3: of seeing Punk and his dog to really get this
- 25:58Speaker 3: over because you know, for a lot of that maybe
- 26:00Speaker 3: don't know all the history. They're just like it's a
- 26:03Speaker 3: bracelet at about a guy's wife and his dog, and
- 26:05Speaker 3: it's this much animosity, Like it is crazy. But I
- 26:08Speaker 3: don't know if they can go the well with you know,
- 26:11Speaker 3: Drew breaking into the house, because we've seen that with
- 26:13Speaker 3: you know, Seth and Edge. We saw that with Dexter
- 26:15Speaker 3: Loomis in the Mint and this just Oronton.
- 26:19Speaker 1: We saw with Samoa with Joe and AJ you know,
- 26:22Speaker 1: so like we see him like the only.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Thing I could think of AJ styles in La Night.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Yeah, if you want to go deep down the rabbit hole,
- 26:29Speaker 3: maybe uh drew back and tire feeds Larry to see
- 26:31Speaker 3: him Punk.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Oh God, big boss man, I'll snow all the greatest
- 26:36Speaker 2: feuds in the world of professional wrestling.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:38Speaker 2: I don't know. Match was good again, I just thought
- 26:41Speaker 2: so much being pertained to this friendship brace that was
- 26:45Speaker 2: like obsurred to me. However, after SummerSlam, I found it
- 26:48Speaker 2: very funny. I think the actual person who so an
- 26:51Speaker 2: actual fan, gave this friendship bracelet to see him Punk,
- 26:55Speaker 2: and I think either like a meet and greet during
- 26:58Speaker 2: WrestleMania weekend or something along those lines. There's there's the
- 27:01Speaker 2: picture out there, and I think she tweeted for some
- 27:04Speaker 2: reason Slim Jim because that's my go to is. I'm
- 27:08Speaker 2: almost positive she tweeted Slim Jim. I hope, well, I actually,
- 27:11Speaker 2: I also hope I'm wrong in this looking for like
- 27:14Speaker 2: some sort of compensation to be involved, Like the reason
- 27:17Speaker 2: why this is this feud taking place is because of
- 27:20Speaker 2: her friendship bracelet. And I found that funny. I mean,
- 27:23Speaker 2: if I were her, I would be capitalizing on this
- 27:25Speaker 2: and selling them on Etsy like like money makers right now.
- 27:29Speaker 2: But I had no idea that an actual fan made
- 27:32Speaker 2: this friendship bracelet for her for cmpunk, So I found
- 27:34Speaker 2: that incredibly funny as well.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't know that either, but it reminds me of.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Kyle Yuex wife that made a couple of jackets and
- 27:44Speaker 3: then all of a sudden it took off her in
- 27:46Speaker 3: the NFL playoffs last year, and now she has a
- 27:49Speaker 3: whole business out of it, which then allowed the Niners
- 27:52Speaker 3: to cut his pay.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Oh perfect, I mean that's that's typical for businesses. So yeah,
- 27:56Speaker 2: there you go, Dream mcintar cmpunk. I think we've kind
- 27:58Speaker 2: of run that one in the ground. Two guys in
- 28:02Speaker 2: their older ages of life having a tough time wrapping
- 28:05Speaker 2: their heads around the friendship bracelet being the reason why
- 28:07Speaker 2: there was so much animosity and angs during this match.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Next match, Year has gun through defeating Damien Priest to
- 28:13Speaker 2: win the World of Weight Championship. We both had gone
- 28:14Speaker 2: through in this one. The Junk to Day implosion has
- 28:17Speaker 2: finally happened as Finn Baler turns on Damian Priest. The
- 28:20Speaker 2: WrestleMania fifteen scenario I discussed on last week's podcast, took
- 28:23Speaker 2: place on Saturday Night All Bit with some questions still
- 28:26Speaker 2: love to be asked coming out of the show. The
- 28:27Speaker 2: final ten minutes of this match was fun and compelling.
- 28:30Speaker 2: The slap test was insane or slapfesticscas who was insane
- 28:33Speaker 2: Between Gunthor and Priest. Go Through becoming a World champion
- 28:36Speaker 2: WWE has been long overdue, and I expect this to
- 28:37Speaker 2: be a pretty decent run at the top of the
- 28:39Speaker 2: World of Weight Championship. We'll get into that a little
- 28:42Speaker 2: bit more later on the show, but Gone Through defeats
- 28:44Speaker 2: Damien Priest. Finn Balor turns on Damien Doctor Try.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:47Speaker 3: I actually really enjoyed this match, and part of it
- 28:50Speaker 3: was the growth of Damien Priest and did the character
- 28:54Speaker 3: development is facials Also just size wise, I'm looking at
- 28:57Speaker 3: this guy in the ring, I'm like, man, I sometimes
- 28:59Speaker 3: you forget how big he is at times because he
- 29:02Speaker 3: was bigger than Gunther and you go back to those
- 29:05Speaker 3: NXTQUK days and Guther looked like it. Guncher looked like
- 29:08Speaker 3: a monster, and you're like, damn, Damian Priest is a legit,
- 29:10Speaker 3: like six ' eighth orderline three hundred pounders. So this
- 29:16Speaker 3: match is overall was it was really good. The ending
- 29:18Speaker 3: was good.
- 29:20Speaker 1: They just this to match the media Like It's not
- 29:22Speaker 1: Match of the Year candidate, but just if.
- 29:25Speaker 3: You're looking for like what a good solid screw job
- 29:29Speaker 3: finish match should be, this is like the prototype. It
- 29:33Speaker 3: was legitimizing a guy as a baby face getting another
- 29:35Speaker 3: guy over as a heel. The betrayal, the animosity, I mean,
- 29:40Speaker 3: that moment when he dove through the ropes and grabbed
- 29:43Speaker 3: fin By the throat was really good. The only thing,
- 29:47Speaker 3: my only knock on it was like fin still with
- 29:49Speaker 3: his back to Damien for almost too long selling the turn.
- 29:54Speaker 3: I think he thought the fish was coming a little
- 29:55Speaker 3: bit quicker than that. But outside of that, man, this
- 29:57Speaker 3: was just a really really solid world title match with
- 30:01Speaker 3: a screw job finish.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Great facials by Finn Balen this one as well.
- 30:05Speaker 2: That told the hell of a lot of story, which
- 30:06Speaker 2: he's always been very very good with that. So more
- 30:09Speaker 2: on the Judgment Day implosion later on here in the podcast.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Let's get to the next match here. Doctor Trying was
- 30:14Speaker 2: the main event. Cody Rhodes defeats Sosikoa to retain the
- 30:17Speaker 2: m speed a w Championship in a blood Line rules
- 30:20Speaker 2: match that was announced on Friday's addition to Smackdann conductor
- 30:24Speaker 2: Trayner recorded Cody Rhodes was the pick that we both
- 30:26Speaker 2: had in this match. The best worst thing WWE did
- 30:30Speaker 2: was make this a Bloodline rules match. The reason why
- 30:32Speaker 2: I say this is because I love the Wrestlemanting forty
- 30:35Speaker 2: Bloodline rules match in the Summer Slam. Bloodline rules match
- 30:38Speaker 2: immediately had some massive shoes to fill, which they obviously
- 30:42Speaker 2: did not do due to the lack of substantial cameos
- 30:45Speaker 2: like the Wrestlemanting forty match had. However, once the Bloodline
- 30:49Speaker 2: rules stipulation was announced on SmackDown, I knew that Roman
- 30:52Speaker 2: Rangs was coming back, and what a return it was.
- 30:54Speaker 2: The Roman Reigns return was a lot of fun, and
- 30:56Speaker 2: him helping Cody was a great win. Was a great moment. Also,
- 31:00Speaker 2: shout out to w foreving Jacob Fatu sell an ankle
- 31:03Speaker 2: leg injury because that made sense as to why he
- 31:05Speaker 2: couldn't defend Solo from Roman Reins. I know there's been
- 31:09Speaker 2: reports out there that it was legitimate and not legitimate,
- 31:12Speaker 2: and that was the plan all along. And they did
- 31:14Speaker 2: that because they don't want Jacob Fattou and Roman Rains
- 31:16Speaker 2: to touch right now, and they want to save that
- 31:18Speaker 2: for down the line. Where Cody goes from here is
- 31:23Speaker 2: going to be very interesting. I feel like they've been
- 31:26Speaker 2: teasing a match feud with Randy Orton for some time.
- 31:28Speaker 2: But where the bloodline solo so Coo of Roman Rains
- 31:31Speaker 2: goes from here, it will be a lot of fun
- 31:33Speaker 2: and has me excited for a new chapter. If I
- 31:35Speaker 2: had anything about this that I felt like was a
- 31:39Speaker 2: bit off, Doctor Trey Is and I had tweeted this
- 31:42Speaker 2: out earlier this week as well. If they were going
- 31:45Speaker 2: to change Roman Reigns's music, they should have saved it
- 31:48Speaker 2: for Friday's edition and SmackDown and had them come out
- 31:51Speaker 2: to his old now old music at SummerSlam, because I think,
- 31:55Speaker 2: because this is how I felt, I think there was
- 31:57Speaker 2: a little bit of confusion as if this was was
- 31:59Speaker 2: this going to be Roman Reigns, And if it wasn't
- 32:01Speaker 2: for the head of the table graphic all over the
- 32:03Speaker 2: place the Roman Reigns out of the table graphic, I
- 32:06Speaker 2: would have never known if he was coming back. So
- 32:09Speaker 2: I felt like they kind of missed it. Was a
- 32:12Speaker 2: very very very good pop. I felt like it could
- 32:15Speaker 2: have been a massive, so much bigger pop if it
- 32:19Speaker 2: was the now old Roman Reigns music. Nonetheless, Cody Roads
- 32:23Speaker 2: defeat Sela Soakoa and the original Tribal Chief is back.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Yeah. So I like this match for most of it.
- 32:33Speaker 1: The only thing I didn't like is once we got
- 32:35Speaker 1: into I mean, because they went probably with fifteen minutes
- 32:38Speaker 1: before anybody got involved, fifteen almost twenty minutes for anybody
- 32:40Speaker 1: got involved in this match. It is that once people
- 32:43Speaker 1: got involved, Solo really didn't do much and basically kind
- 32:48Speaker 1: of stayed down for most that finished with their way
- 32:51Speaker 1: kind of getting coming in getting.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Involved, which I thought made him look a little week.
- 32:55Speaker 3: At least, Roman was still kind of getting up during
- 32:58Speaker 3: his match. But then once again, that's who's been doing
- 33:00Speaker 3: this for fifteen years versus a guy that's really in
- 33:04Speaker 3: his first May Solo main event.
- 33:08Speaker 1: No pun intended. You're right on the Roman thing.
- 33:11Speaker 3: The other thing I didn't like about it was maybe
- 33:15Speaker 3: don't have Solo talk trash about Roman leading into the match,
- 33:19Speaker 3: and then when Roman comes out, then he has that
- 33:23Speaker 3: moment in the ring where Solo's standing there and Cody's
- 33:25Speaker 3: standing there, and then he makes the move on Solo.
- 33:28Speaker 3: When he rushed in and Solo fed right to him,
- 33:32Speaker 3: You're like, oh, okay, this is where we're going that
- 33:35Speaker 3: having that momentary pause where Roman, you know, you're kind
- 33:39Speaker 3: of questioning who's he going after?
- 33:41Speaker 1: Is it going to be Cody or Solo?
- 33:42Speaker 3: I think could have made it even more impactful and
- 33:44Speaker 3: made that pop on the first ram punch even bigger.
- 33:47Speaker 3: But all in all, I am excited for where this
- 33:51Speaker 3: goes with Roman and maybe the og blood line, the
- 33:54Speaker 3: new blood line. We love you and I are old school,
- 33:59Speaker 3: we love faction warfare like this. I mean, this is
- 34:02Speaker 3: the right up our alley. And it does kind of
- 34:05Speaker 3: leave a question, and once again with Cody is like, Okay,
- 34:07Speaker 3: we understand he's the face of the company, but he's
- 34:11Speaker 3: continuously being overshadowed by whatever Roman's doing.
- 34:16Speaker 1: How do you correct? How do you course correct?
- 34:19Speaker 3: If you want Cody to be the face of the
- 34:21Speaker 3: company and he's being overshadowed by Romans, especially if they'll
- 34:24Speaker 3: still end up on SmackDown, Cody's continually going to be
- 34:26Speaker 3: overshadowed by whatever Roman the bloodline do.
- 34:29Speaker 1: So that does make me a little nervous for the
- 34:32Speaker 1: direction of Cody Road.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Cody needs some good creative right now. I agree with you,
- 34:38Speaker 2: he needs some really good, impactful creative because there's so
- 34:42Speaker 2: many different, really good feuds that are going on in
- 34:45Speaker 2: Wa right now that he It's like it's exposing the
- 34:50Speaker 2: creative there. And maybe this is a SmackDown thing because
- 34:52Speaker 2: I thought the Bailey and Iya Jack's build was not
- 34:55Speaker 2: that great and it did not get a lot of
- 34:57Speaker 2: attention going into the pay per view. I felt less
- 34:59Speaker 2: comparable to the others. The raw feuds were getting a
- 35:02Speaker 2: lot more attention and a lot more care for me
- 35:05Speaker 2: as a fan. I mean, Real Live is a better
- 35:08Speaker 2: feud right now than anything Cody's been involved with. The
- 35:12Speaker 2: gun thir Damian Priest obviously drew and see him Punk
- 35:16Speaker 2: was much better, you know, gun Thor and Randy Orton.
- 35:19Speaker 2: I mean, he needs something right now that gets him
- 35:22Speaker 2: into it. And I had felt like, and I said
- 35:24Speaker 2: in my response to this was I wrote this pre
- 35:27Speaker 2: Randy Orton challenging gun there to bash of Berlin, which,
- 35:30Speaker 2: by the way, I think was really smart on W's
- 35:32Speaker 2: part to do that, based on the way that that
- 35:33Speaker 2: King of the Ring match took place. It just comes
- 35:39Speaker 2: off as as strange that he doesn't have anything like
- 35:45Speaker 2: emotionally encapsulating right now, and I thought that's where they
- 35:48Speaker 2: could go with Randy Orton, and I just felt like
- 35:50Speaker 2: they would been teasing that a little bit here and there.
- 35:53Speaker 2: There's been a couple of seeds planted, but he needs
- 35:56Speaker 2: he needs substantial heal, not sue you positioned. You know,
- 35:59Speaker 2: you were saying, maybe it's it's logan, Paul, possibly we've
- 36:04Speaker 2: we've been there, done that, but but maybe a betrayal
- 36:08Speaker 2: of the sense of Randy Orton is one that is
- 36:11Speaker 2: necessary as well. The Cody Rhades effect right now is
- 36:15Speaker 2: it's interesting. I mean, he's a guy that is in,
- 36:18Speaker 2: you know, Wrestler of the Year conversation, but I don't know,
- 36:23Speaker 2: it's it's he's kind of suffering from we want this
- 36:27Speaker 2: guy to be the world champion. Then when he's world champion,
- 36:29Speaker 2: it's either bad creative or the fans don't care as much,
- 36:32Speaker 2: or a mixture of both. And I think he's deal
- 36:33Speaker 2: with both right now. I think there's a mixture of both.
- 36:35Speaker 2: He is definitely the face of the company. I disagree
- 36:38Speaker 2: with you there. I think Cody is the face of
- 36:40Speaker 2: the company. He is the baby face, he is the
- 36:42Speaker 2: John Cena. I just think that he's kind of slipping
- 36:44Speaker 2: a little bit with the adult fans.
- 36:47Speaker 3: Yeah well, I mean, I'm not disagree with him being
- 36:50Speaker 3: the face of the company because he's everywhere, But in
- 36:53Speaker 3: this situation with Roman returning it, Roman's the top guy.
- 36:59Speaker 3: Roman's the the goat of all things right now, and
- 37:03Speaker 3: he's only been away for five months. So it wasn't
- 37:07Speaker 3: like this is not the John Cena coming in part
- 37:09Speaker 3: time role. Where's he's here for three months, gone for
- 37:12Speaker 3: nine or ten or twelve and then back. You know,
- 37:14Speaker 3: he's not that part time yet. It just makes you
- 37:18Speaker 3: nerus because they've spent so much time building up the
- 37:20Speaker 3: New blood Line and building up, you know, all that
- 37:24Speaker 3: they really haven't built up anybody else on that brand
- 37:27Speaker 3: as a top heel, like somebody getting hot to potentially
- 37:32Speaker 3: challenge Cody, because all their energy has been focused on
- 37:35Speaker 3: building up the New blood Line.
- 37:36Speaker 1: That's you. I was hoping for a Randy thing.
- 37:39Speaker 3: My only my issue with Randy challenging Gunther was the
- 37:43Speaker 3: last time we saw Randy he was taken out by
- 37:45Speaker 3: the New blood Line. So wouldn't that Randy Orton wants
- 37:49Speaker 3: some revenge on that new blood line or blamed Cody
- 37:53Speaker 3: for being taken out. Instead, they transition him over to
- 37:55Speaker 3: challenging Gunther, which you could have slit Sammy into that
- 37:59Speaker 3: spot based on him winning at WrestleMania and had Randy
- 38:04Speaker 3: turn on Cody, or have Randy challenge Cody just straight.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Up you know for that title.
- 38:09Speaker 3: I mean that there's there's just not This is one
- 38:12Speaker 3: thing that you and I talk about with NXT a lot,
- 38:14Speaker 3: is they kind of go in cycles where one side,
- 38:17Speaker 3: like the men's division be really hot, but the women's
- 38:19Speaker 3: divisions down tag teams in the middle. It feels like
- 38:21Speaker 3: with with On SmackDown, they just haven't built up anybody
- 38:25Speaker 3: else underneath the bloodline to be a viable challenger for
- 38:30Speaker 3: Cody heading into you know, Survivor series season.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Basically, That's what I was gonna ask you in regards
- 38:38Speaker 2: to the Randy thing, is if they do the Randy direction,
- 38:41Speaker 2: would you be down with just like a straight up
- 38:44Speaker 2: respect I want to get back in the world title picture,
- 38:47Speaker 2: No real animosity, just a respectful clash between two men.
- 38:51Speaker 3: I don't know, well, I mean it's hard, it's hard
- 38:54Speaker 3: to dislike Randy. Now he's almost in that where it's like,
- 38:59Speaker 3: no matter what he does, people going to cheer.
- 39:00Speaker 1: For me because he's rady.
- 39:02Speaker 2: He could do no wrong. I agree with you.
- 39:04Speaker 1: So it's it's tricky.
- 39:05Speaker 3: And that's where I said, they just you know, you
- 39:07Speaker 3: have the younger guys like the Carmelo, Hayes and some
- 39:10Speaker 3: of those other guys they've you know, put on SmackDown
- 39:12Speaker 3: and you know, the Santos Escobar and guys like that,
- 39:16Speaker 3: but they just haven't built them up, like Carmelo and
- 39:18Speaker 3: Cody had a really great match when Carmelo came on
- 39:21Speaker 3: the main roster.
- 39:22Speaker 1: But there's nothing.
- 39:24Speaker 3: I mean, it feels like a huge drop off from
- 39:26Speaker 3: where let's let's say Solo and Logan or your top
- 39:28Speaker 3: two heels on SmackDown. It's a huge drop to where
- 39:32Speaker 3: you get to like number three or four. So we're
- 39:35Speaker 3: on Raw, it's a little more consistent throughout the entire show.
- 39:38Speaker 3: I mean, hell, they just made Bronton Reed a borderline
- 39:41Speaker 3: made event guy on Raw Monday Night because of one
- 39:44Speaker 3: interaction with Seth wrong.
- 39:45Speaker 1: And we need somebody to kind of do the same
- 39:48Speaker 1: thing for Cody but also build some credibility up to
- 39:51Speaker 1: make him feel like a viable threat to the world title.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Let me pause that right there, because I think this
- 39:56Speaker 2: could bleed into the next all pun in ten and
- 39:59Speaker 2: bleed into the next top I want to talk about
- 40:00Speaker 2: in regards to the bloodline as well, because I do
- 40:02Speaker 2: think Cody potentially plays a role here. Let's get our
- 40:04Speaker 2: paperview prediction out of the way. I went five and two,
- 40:06Speaker 2: Doctrey went six and one. I'm ninety two and twenty
- 40:09Speaker 2: three in the year doct tray eighty four and thirty
- 40:11Speaker 2: one Event night and excuse me, event night, event rating
- 40:16Speaker 2: and Match of the Night. I gave SummerSlam a four
- 40:18Speaker 2: point three out of five, and I gave my Match
- 40:20Speaker 2: the Night to live Morgan Rea Ripley, what say you,
- 40:23Speaker 2: doctor Trey?
- 40:24Speaker 1: I was right there with you as a four point
- 40:25Speaker 1: three and I had Reha live at my Match in
- 40:27Speaker 1: the night as well.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Wow, you have it as Match the Night, even though
- 40:29Speaker 2: you said Guntherr and Damian Priest was matched the Year candidate,
- 40:33Speaker 2: it was.
- 40:33Speaker 3: It was the betrayal, the betrayal to kick off the
- 40:36Speaker 3: show leading the word like You're like, okay, this is
- 40:38Speaker 3: gonna be a fun night. This is gonna be like
- 40:41Speaker 3: that match was just great storytelling as well, Like it
- 40:44Speaker 3: was really for me, it was one A and one B.
- 40:48Speaker 1: I just like give them the girl some credit every
- 40:49Speaker 1: now and then there you go, there you go.
- 40:51Speaker 2: So let's get into here. How do you want to
- 40:54Speaker 2: see the Roman Range bloodline storyline play out? Now? I
- 40:57Speaker 2: think where the Cody aspect plays into this. I would
- 41:01Speaker 2: not be surprised right now if at Bash in Berlin,
- 41:05Speaker 2: Doctor Trey, we get a tag team match of Cody
- 41:08Speaker 2: Roads and Roman Reigns together taking on Solo Sokoa and
- 41:13Speaker 2: let's say Tomatunka. I don't think Jacoba two. I think
- 41:19Speaker 2: they're gonna leave him off of this entire thing. And
- 41:21Speaker 2: you get that match at Bash of Berlin, and maybe
- 41:25Speaker 2: that is where the next member of the New bloodline
- 41:28Speaker 2: comes in, whether it be Hiccoleo who's been rumored to
- 41:30Speaker 2: signed with w w W. I think I think maybe
- 41:34Speaker 2: like Jacob Fattou's brother that is wrestles in GCW. I
- 41:37Speaker 2: don't know him well. Forgive me if I if I
- 41:39Speaker 2: have the lineage here or name here incorrect, but I
- 41:44Speaker 2: could see the bill for the next couple of months,
- 41:46Speaker 2: which I think adds to your concern of Cody as well.
- 41:50Speaker 2: I could see Cody Rhoads and Roman Reigns working together here,
- 41:54Speaker 2: which would be intriguing depending on the execution going forward.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that is a routher to go.
- 42:01Speaker 3: One of the things that you years ago, I said this,
- 42:04Speaker 3: one of the things I used to miss, uh, that
- 42:06Speaker 3: events kind of got away from the last eight to
- 42:09Speaker 3: ten years of w W was back when as a kid,
- 42:11Speaker 3: you'd have these weird tag matches main event pay per views,
- 42:17Speaker 3: and we saw it.
- 42:17Speaker 2: A little bit of where we had WrestleMania.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:22Speaker 3: And then we also had you know, Roman and Solo
- 42:25Speaker 3: against Kevin Sammy and won the pay per views last
- 42:29Speaker 3: year as well.
- 42:30Speaker 2: I think that was Crown Jewel Crown Jewel, and so.
- 42:32Speaker 1: They have kind of gotten back to that where you
- 42:34Speaker 1: could have Cody and Roman team up. So like Mon
- 42:38Speaker 1: like Friday, I'd love to see you know, Roman come
- 42:42Speaker 1: out confront Solo.
- 42:44Speaker 3: There's a beatdown Cody makes to say, but there's still
- 42:47Speaker 3: that tension there leading to you know, a tag match
- 42:51Speaker 3: at you know Class or Bash of Berlin.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Well the enemy of my enemy, right, Yeah.
- 42:57Speaker 3: And but there's those uncomfortable betfellows too, and you know,
- 43:00Speaker 3: like you don't know if Roman's coming for the title.
- 43:03Speaker 3: That was that that one of the things great things
- 43:05Speaker 3: about that match at the end, there was the way
- 43:06Speaker 3: Cody was looking at Roman. You could tell Roman still
- 43:09Speaker 3: wants his title. Cody doesn't trust him even though what
- 43:12Speaker 3: he's you know, he just kind of helped him out.
- 43:15Speaker 3: So there's still that tension there going forth. I had
- 43:19Speaker 3: loved also if SmackDown kicked off with actually solo ring
- 43:23Speaker 3: and that Paul Hayman comes out. But I don't think
- 43:25Speaker 3: we're gonna see Paul for a little bit.
- 43:26Speaker 2: I think I think he's back. I think I think
- 43:28Speaker 2: he's back. I disagree with you. I think Paul makes
- 43:31Speaker 2: an appearance here.
- 43:33Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sure he will be back, but I
- 43:35Speaker 1: mean to me, no.
- 43:36Speaker 2: On this Friday's edition, I think, oh.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Okay, that's the case.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Thing great because one of the things Romans said at
- 43:42Speaker 3: the Hall of Fame speech for Paul Hayman was you
- 43:44Speaker 3: would not see Roman reigns without Paul Hayman. But then
- 43:48Speaker 3: maybe also bash Berlin, we get the return of Jimmy
- 43:50Speaker 3: Usso to help save Cody and Roman from a beat
- 43:54Speaker 3: down post match, regardless of the outcome. But you know,
- 43:57Speaker 3: then you can get the Jimmy factor involved into.
- 43:59Speaker 1: It as well.
- 44:00Speaker 2: I think that maybe if Cody is involved in this,
- 44:03Speaker 2: he is the lynchpin that helps get Sammy, Zaye and
- 44:07Speaker 2: Jay usso on board with the OG bloodline. I'm under
- 44:12Speaker 2: the belief Doctor Trey that at a Survivor Series wargame
- 44:16Speaker 2: that was just announced in Vancouver or late November, I
- 44:18Speaker 2: think November thirty, if that, that main event will be
- 44:21Speaker 2: the current or the bloodline two point zero Solo Soka's
- 44:26Speaker 2: bloodline and the OG version of the bloodline. And I
- 44:29Speaker 2: think Jimmy comes back soon, and maybe Cody's the one
- 44:32Speaker 2: that says like, hey, you know, it goes to you know,
- 44:35Speaker 2: Jay and Sammy, like you got to talk to Jimmy,
- 44:38Speaker 2: you got to talk to Roman. Like this is where
- 44:41Speaker 2: maybe Paul Haman gets evolved. I think that where this
- 44:44Speaker 2: current chapter is right now, and maybe that's where Cody
- 44:47Speaker 2: plays a role into it, which is strange because he's
- 44:48Speaker 2: still the world champion, But maybe this is how like
- 44:51Speaker 2: Roman is on this forgiveness tour in a way. But
- 44:54Speaker 2: everybody what's funny is that they despite it being a negative,
- 44:58Speaker 2: now everybody is like referring to him as the try
- 45:00Speaker 2: chief and the head of the table all that stuff.
- 45:03Speaker 2: I think that's where we get to I think Meltzer
- 45:06Speaker 2: said this week as well in the Wrestling Reserver newsletter
- 45:09Speaker 2: that he is under belief one of the working plans
- 45:12Speaker 2: is reportedly that Solo So co versus Roman Reigns takes
- 45:14Speaker 2: place at WrestleMania. Right now, I would be surprised by
- 45:18Speaker 2: that because I think they get to that earlier than WrestleMania.
- 45:23Speaker 2: But maybe the Rock plays some sort of role in
- 45:25Speaker 2: this as well. But I think in the short term,
- 45:27Speaker 2: in the next three months, if we're looking at this
- 45:29Speaker 2: quarterly Doctor Trey, I feel like the Roman Reigns Bloodline
- 45:32Speaker 2: storyline plays out where Jimmy returns to be sided with
- 45:36Speaker 2: Roman Reigns, Jay and Sammy get on board to be
- 45:39Speaker 2: sided with Roman Reigns, and we get to that Survivor
- 45:42Speaker 2: Series wargame match in late November Bloodline versus Bloodline.
- 45:46Speaker 1: So are you still thinking as being four on four?
- 45:50Speaker 2: We have the last one's been The last one was
- 45:52Speaker 2: just five on five.
- 45:53Speaker 1: Right, I thought there was We've We've done one that
- 45:57Speaker 1: was four and four, We've done one that's five on five.
- 45:59Speaker 2: What was Damian Finn Dominic, JD. Drew McIntyre was five
- 46:04Speaker 2: on five and I think the one prior to that
- 46:05Speaker 2: was four on four. So if we do five on five,
- 46:08Speaker 2: so I think Hickeleo is coming soon to w W,
- 46:13Speaker 2: so that would be five. If you did solo Jacob
- 46:17Speaker 2: Tomatunga tungaloa Hiccalo, that's five. I think you do og
- 46:23Speaker 2: bloodline with those four, Jay, Sammy, Roman and Jimmy, and
- 46:29Speaker 2: I think the big build up is Cody Rhodes to
- 46:31Speaker 2: be that fifth and maybe at that same pay per
- 46:34Speaker 2: view there is some sort of Rock return and that
- 46:38Speaker 2: is what starts carrying us into the next phase of
- 46:42Speaker 2: w W, which leads us into Royal Rubble WrestleMania season,
- 46:45Speaker 2: which I think Cody versus Rock is taking place at
- 46:47Speaker 2: WrestleMania next year, So maybe Cody is that fifth member
- 46:51Speaker 2: Doctor Trey.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Yeah, that's kind of my thought process.
- 46:54Speaker 3: But then you know, with the Roman or the Rock
- 46:57Speaker 3: factor comes in, It's like, maybe we do Solo and
- 46:59Speaker 3: Roman at Royal Rumble and then you get either Rock
- 47:04Speaker 3: and Cody and Wrestleming, or you get Rock and Roman
- 47:06Speaker 3: at Wrestling, Because maybe you get Rock and Cody at
- 47:09Speaker 3: Rumble like, we don't know how more mania is because
- 47:14Speaker 3: if you have to do Rock and Roman at some point,
- 47:18Speaker 3: and Rock's getting older, Roman's getting older, you have to
- 47:22Speaker 3: pay it off sooner rather than later, I would think,
- 47:26Speaker 3: because I don't know how much. I mean, as much
- 47:27Speaker 3: as you and I love the Bloodline story and the
- 47:29Speaker 3: saga and the family dynamics, this whole thing two year drawout,
- 47:33Speaker 3: I don't know if they can go two years.
- 47:35Speaker 1: I mean, that's that seems really really long.
- 47:37Speaker 3: Adding you to the three years that's already gone, that'd
- 47:41Speaker 3: be a five six year storyline for the Bloodline. That
- 47:44Speaker 3: would be really impressive that they can actually pull it
- 47:46Speaker 3: out and keep our interest that entire time.
- 47:48Speaker 2: Yeah. No, I agree, and I'm interested. I mean, I
- 47:51Speaker 2: feel like they are really getting me interested in everything
- 47:54Speaker 2: that's going on with with w WI in the Bloodline
- 47:58Speaker 2: right now, So I think it can go a lot
- 47:59Speaker 2: of their diferent ways. It's really intriguing. I'm excited to
- 48:03Speaker 2: see the promo on Friday's edition of SmackDown. I think
- 48:06Speaker 2: Roman opens the show. I think that's the right way
- 48:08Speaker 2: to go. If he doesn't open, obviously he's closing, But
- 48:11Speaker 2: I'd rather have Roman have the open because he is
- 48:16Speaker 2: free reign at that point and he is not bar
- 48:18Speaker 2: to any potential time constraints in executing that ankle. So yeah,
- 48:23Speaker 2: I think short term, we're getting to Survivor series war games,
- 48:26Speaker 2: and I agree with you. I don't think that it's
- 48:31Speaker 2: out of the possibility that Roman solos at Royal Rumble,
- 48:34Speaker 2: Rock Cody's at Royal Rumble and then you have those guys.
- 48:38Speaker 2: You know, now would be the time to do Roman
- 48:40Speaker 2: and Rock at WrestleMania. I think people would care about it.
- 48:43Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean it's really well executed stuff. The
- 48:46Speaker 2: Bloodline Dog Trey. The Bloodline may go down overall as
- 48:53Speaker 2: the greatest storyline in professional wrestling history. I think in
- 48:57Speaker 2: my time as a Rustling fan, Austin McMahon is definitely
- 49:02Speaker 2: like a top one for me. I would say nWo
- 49:06Speaker 2: is up there, but as time has gone on, you've
- 49:08Speaker 2: kind of seen a lot of holes in the nWo stuff.
- 49:12Speaker 2: But this bloodline, I think is some of the most captivating,
- 49:16Speaker 2: cinematic professional wrestling storylines I've ever seen in my life.
- 49:20Speaker 2: So I think I think there's a lot of potential
- 49:22Speaker 2: there and I'm excited for it as we move forward.
- 49:25Speaker 1: Yeah, for me, I'm a little bit older. I gotta
- 49:26Speaker 1: throw in. So for me, it was always von.
- 49:28Speaker 2: Erics, freebirds, ah, true true, true.
- 49:32Speaker 3: Horseman versus Dusty and whoever Dusty ed with, and whether
- 49:35Speaker 3: it was Staying Luger, Magnetia, whoever was around, like you know,
- 49:39Speaker 3: breaking a man's leg, I mean them breaking Dusty's leg
- 49:42Speaker 3: and damn Riot breaking out plan.
- 49:44Speaker 1: It was still pretty awesome as it did. But then
- 49:47Speaker 1: you know, modern I guess maybe more of the modern
- 49:49Speaker 1: era Austin McMahon nWo is always up there, even though
- 49:55Speaker 1: there are holes. But still, I mean that was a
- 49:58Speaker 1: three four year long program, so that's pretty impressive. And
- 50:02Speaker 1: then in recent times this has been absolutely the best.
- 50:07Speaker 1: I mean it's there's so much interacies.
- 50:10Speaker 3: I mean, how many You've already built two main event
- 50:12Speaker 3: level stars out of this outside of Roman with Sammy
- 50:16Speaker 3: and jay Uso either one gets slide to the main
- 50:18Speaker 3: event picture and if Jimmy ever just.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Kind of took off a solo, so you actually have
- 50:23Speaker 1: built three main event guys out of this angle in
- 50:25Speaker 1: addition to Romans. So just some really good storytelling overall.
- 50:30Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean, top five storylines of my lifetime
- 50:34Speaker 1: of forty seven years.
- 50:36Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's it's it's definitely up there. And another
- 50:39Speaker 2: good storyline right now, Doc Trey is the Judgment Day
- 50:41Speaker 2: and I'm referring to it as the Judgment Day Implosion.
- 50:45Speaker 2: Similar question, a same exact question, not even similar, same
- 50:49Speaker 2: exact How do we want to see the Judgment Day
- 50:51Speaker 2: implosion storyline play out? I've been into the Bloodline storyline,
- 50:55Speaker 2: I've been into the Judgment Day storyline, and I'll share
- 50:59Speaker 2: a little story with you, and this is I think
- 51:01Speaker 2: this is cool for me because this is like how
- 51:03Speaker 2: I felt as a young kid watching wrestling in the nineties.
- 51:06Speaker 2: I wasn't like emotionally attached to the Summer Slam stuff
- 51:12Speaker 2: like an old school wrestling fan was, or when I
- 51:15Speaker 2: was a kid whatever with the Rhea Ripley, you know,
- 51:17Speaker 2: with Dom and Live turning on Rhea and then Finn
- 51:20Speaker 2: turning on on Damian Priest. However, when they had that
- 51:25Speaker 2: promo where Damian Priest's in the ringe calling out Finn
- 51:28Speaker 2: balad or Finn's on the screen and hits it right
- 51:30Speaker 2: up against his face and they pan out and it's
- 51:32Speaker 2: this brand new Judgment Day, I had a moment and
- 51:35Speaker 2: I still have this moment as I talk about it,
- 51:37Speaker 2: and silly to say, but I'll say it anyway. I
- 51:39Speaker 2: was like, those sons of bitches. I cannot wait to
- 51:43Speaker 2: see Damien Priest and Rita Ripley kick your ass. And
- 51:47Speaker 2: I love that because that has been lost for me
- 51:50Speaker 2: as a wrestling fan as the years have gone on,
- 51:52Speaker 2: and I do the podcast, read the dirt sheet stuff
- 51:54Speaker 2: like that, I'm like, wow, wait a minute, I am,
- 51:56Speaker 2: I am into this and I think that's rare for
- 52:00Speaker 2: today's adult wrestling fan. So I love that. And then
- 52:04Speaker 2: later on in the night, when Reham made the save,
- 52:07Speaker 2: Reve got a stone cold pop Doctor Trey. When that
- 52:11Speaker 2: music dropped, that place went nuts and I have not
- 52:17Speaker 2: seen something like that at the start of a theme
- 52:21Speaker 2: song for a save since Stone Cold Steve Austin. I mean,
- 52:26Speaker 2: they lost their shit. They were so excited to see
- 52:30Speaker 2: her beat down Dom and Live Morgan, who were attacking
- 52:34Speaker 2: Damien Priest at the time. Props at wa. I loved it,
- 52:39Speaker 2: and I can't wait to see how this storyline continues
- 52:42Speaker 2: to play out. I don't think it will be as
- 52:44Speaker 2: long as the bloodline stuff that we will potentially see
- 52:47Speaker 2: over the next six to twelve months. Or maybe three
- 52:48Speaker 2: to six months, but I think it has some good
- 52:50Speaker 2: longevity here for the rest of twenty twenty four at least.
- 52:54Speaker 3: Yeah, so longtime listeners know of this show, know that
- 52:58Speaker 3: Sean Michael's my favorite reservot. And when Sean lost in
- 53:02Speaker 3: WrestleMania at thirteen, it made me sad because I knew
- 53:05Speaker 3: Sean was going away. But what we saw on Monday
- 53:08Speaker 3: Night when they panned out and you got that shot
- 53:10Speaker 3: of I'm saying the new Judgment Day, you know, but
- 53:14Speaker 3: it's basically just the newest members of the Judgment Day Finn,
- 53:18Speaker 3: you know, Carlito, j D and Dom and Lived. It
- 53:22Speaker 3: reminded me of when they when they when they put
- 53:26Speaker 3: Triple h An X, Pog, Billy Gunn and a road
- 53:29Speaker 3: Dog together to kick off the Monday Night after WrestleMania
- 53:32Speaker 3: at thirteen and the beat down of Chainsaw Charlie and
- 53:36Speaker 3: Cactus Jack, and you're just like kind of that same thing,
- 53:39Speaker 3: like you son of bitches, like their back, like they
- 53:42Speaker 3: just read they cut the head off of the snake,
- 53:44Speaker 3: and the snake just said, no, We're just gonna keep,
- 53:47Speaker 3: you know, biting at you. So it reminded me a
- 53:50Speaker 3: little bit of that and like, Okay, Damien's out, Rhea
- 53:53Speaker 3: is out.
- 53:53Speaker 1: We're still strong, and we're gonna call it. And and
- 53:56Speaker 1: that line of Benn saying that in every time you know,
- 54:00Speaker 1: it may not be right away, it may not be now,
- 54:02Speaker 1: but every time you turn your back, I'm gonna be
- 54:05Speaker 1: there to stab it again and again again. I have
- 54:07Speaker 1: never heard anybody use backstabbing that way. And I was like,
- 54:11Speaker 1: that's a really damn good promo.
- 54:13Speaker 3: And I think this is a way of maybe re
- 54:16Speaker 3: energizing Finn Balor his character in WWE, because I mean,
- 54:21Speaker 3: this is the first ever Universal Champion.
- 54:23Speaker 1: You know, he was an NXT.
- 54:24Speaker 3: You know, he's a triple AH guy in NXT, but
- 54:26Speaker 3: he's kind of been since he joined the Judgment Day.
- 54:30Speaker 3: At first we thought it was gonna be his group,
- 54:32Speaker 3: and he always kind of fell to the side for
- 54:34Speaker 3: Rha and and Damien. So maybe it's the way of
- 54:36Speaker 3: re energizing his career as well now that he's in
- 54:41Speaker 3: his mid thirties as well. So it's a way to
- 54:43Speaker 3: kind of reinvigorate Finn Balor.
- 54:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's really exciting stuff and I think again
- 54:48Speaker 2: it's been executed really well. I've loved the stuff that
- 54:51Speaker 2: led into it. There was those like red herrings that
- 54:53Speaker 2: they had were I think there was a couple of
- 54:56Speaker 2: shots where like people were coming into Raw a couple
- 54:58Speaker 2: of months ago, and there was a on the background
- 55:01Speaker 2: and in one shot Finn Baler walks out of the car,
- 55:04Speaker 2: and then in the next shot later on Live Morgan
- 55:06Speaker 2: comes out of the same car. And then there was
- 55:08Speaker 2: stuff where uh Dominic and Live were coming out of
- 55:11Speaker 2: the same dressing room during like backstage vignettes, and they
- 55:15Speaker 2: had gotten away from that for a little bit, but
- 55:17Speaker 2: obviously with fans and us as guys doing the podcaster,
- 55:20Speaker 2: we always felt like this was the way that was
- 55:21Speaker 2: going to go. And I just really loved again the
- 55:25Speaker 2: attention to detail. I mean, you have some really really
- 55:28Speaker 2: strong storylines carrying w right now, whether it is this
- 55:32Speaker 2: beginning stages of this new chapter of the Bloodline on SmackDown,
- 55:35Speaker 2: if it's a true McIntyre and cmpunk on Monday Night Raw,
- 55:39Speaker 2: if it's the Judgment Day implosion on Monday Night Raw
- 55:42Speaker 2: as well. So I don't think that this has the
- 55:45Speaker 2: same longevity, but I think if it's if it's really good,
- 55:49Speaker 2: it could And you know, Damien has been made into
- 55:53Speaker 2: a babyface. Damien's been a star, Rhea has been a
- 55:56Speaker 2: star for years. I think Damien obviously kind of trailed
- 55:59Speaker 2: a little bit behind. I think fans are really behind
- 56:01Speaker 2: him right now. Agreed, we're finded a little bit of rejuvenation.
- 56:05Speaker 2: I like that Carlito and JD McDonough are getting some
- 56:07Speaker 2: love in this as well. Live. I would say the
- 56:11Speaker 2: only thing that maybe I don't like Doctor Trey is
- 56:14Speaker 2: that the Women's Champion is kind of arm candy in
- 56:18Speaker 2: the short term. I think Live is such a stronger
- 56:20Speaker 2: character that she doesn't need to be that like main
- 56:24Speaker 2: squeeze arm candy around Dominic Mysterio who has been rejuvenated
- 56:28Speaker 2: as audastardly heeled that everybody should hate as well.
- 56:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the.
- 56:32Speaker 3: Thing with Live and this is gonna be something that
- 56:34Speaker 3: she always runs into is just she's just so small
- 56:39Speaker 3: that she's going to need somebody as a heel to
- 56:43Speaker 3: kind of help buffer her a little bit. So I
- 56:46Speaker 3: don't hate it as much. I understand where you're coming
- 56:49Speaker 3: from with it, because she is the Women's Champion. She's
- 56:52Speaker 3: strong enough and her character's good enough. But I think
- 56:56Speaker 3: with this the way her her character's kind of gone.
- 56:59Speaker 3: It makes sense to put her as part of the group,
- 57:01Speaker 3: have Dom be around because there now you can have
- 57:05Speaker 3: Dom help her win.
- 57:06Speaker 1: And because she's so small, it makes sense where you know,
- 57:09Speaker 1: God helping Riha where Hellria was like the third biggest
- 57:13Speaker 1: member in the judgment day.
- 57:15Speaker 3: You know, as far as size wise, didn't always make
- 57:18Speaker 3: a ton of sense when she was wrestling much smaller opponents.
- 57:20Speaker 3: With with Live having Don by her side, it makes
- 57:23Speaker 3: a lot of sense because everybody outside of Alexa Bliss
- 57:27Speaker 3: on the raw women's side is bigger than Live. So
- 57:30Speaker 3: I don't hate it as much because I think I
- 57:33Speaker 3: know where they're going with that.
- 57:34Speaker 2: On August eighth, if we were doing the award show today,
- 57:37Speaker 2: is Live Moregan You're Women's Wrestler of the Year.
- 57:45Speaker 1: Probably yeah, I would say probably.
- 57:48Speaker 3: She's She's had the most character development and her end
- 57:51Speaker 3: ring work has just gotten so much better just even
- 57:55Speaker 3: in the last year.
- 57:56Speaker 1: So it might be between her and Baylee and Nya,
- 58:01Speaker 1: like the three of them.
- 58:02Speaker 3: Ria's three or four month absence does kind of hurt
- 58:04Speaker 3: her a little bit, so it makes it a little bit.
- 58:07Speaker 3: You know, typically Ria one airbels from chasing her, but
- 58:11Speaker 3: lives had the most development, you know, since her return
- 58:13Speaker 3: at the Rumble, and it's hard to argue against them.
- 58:16Speaker 2: Damien is Damian Priese if it was all ended today,
- 58:18Speaker 2: is Damien Price a breakout star of the.
- 58:20Speaker 1: Year, breakout star of the year. Hmmm uh for me,
- 58:26Speaker 1: it's him and Osprey.
- 58:31Speaker 2: Okay, I think that's fair. I think that's very fair
- 58:34Speaker 2: given some thought, I think that's very fair. I think
- 58:38Speaker 2: the really interesting case in this entire thing is how
- 58:44Speaker 2: when it comes to this implosion is how do they
- 58:48Speaker 2: end it with Rhea and Damien going off on their own.
- 58:51Speaker 2: That to me, the final execution of this all I
- 58:56Speaker 2: think will be the most telling thing moving forward. Doctor Try.
- 59:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna be hard. On one hand, it's kind
- 59:03Speaker 1: of hard.
- 59:03Speaker 3: To separate them because you know, you're it's two people
- 59:06Speaker 3: fighting five It's really hard to be, really hard to
- 59:10Speaker 3: separate them for a while. I think what they go
- 59:12Speaker 3: is is once this kind of dies down, you see
- 59:17Speaker 3: Damien go back after Gunther and Rea reclaims all of
- 59:21Speaker 3: the championship, they go on their back. They can kind
- 59:23Speaker 3: of do the same thing we saw with the Shield
- 59:24Speaker 3: for years, where whenever needed, you can bring them back
- 59:27Speaker 3: together because they have this uh history and chemistry built
- 59:32Speaker 3: between them now, but yeah, it's gonna be kind of
- 59:35Speaker 3: hard to see.
- 59:36Speaker 1: Like, of course, the good guys win in the end,
- 59:40Speaker 1: But the.
- 59:40Speaker 3: Other thing is do they add in and to do
- 59:43Speaker 3: they draw people in to help them battle the Judgment Day?
- 59:47Speaker 3: And to me, the Judgment Day needs one more big guy.
- 59:49Speaker 3: Nobody on that Nobody on that team is over two
- 59:51Speaker 3: hundred and thirty pounds. They need one more big guy
- 59:54Speaker 3: in their arsenal. So I would expect somebody from some
- 59:57Speaker 3: big guy from NXT to eventually come up, or they
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: recruit somebody else to kind of fill out the blood.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: Or the Judgment Day.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Then finally, the last thing I want to talk about
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: here is now our early expectations for Gunther's World of
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: aweight Championship. Rain he has held and this is something
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: they're promoting in WE television right now. He held the
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: NXCUK Championship for about I think eight hundred days, the
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: Intercontinent Old Championship for a record six hundred plus days.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: The expectation here is the World of a Weight Championship
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: will be held for probably nearly the same or close
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: to or they're going to pump it up as potentially
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: being that long, and that's kind of Gunther's game. So
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: maybe we're seeing something where a world title reign is
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: taking place for the next six to twelve months. What
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: are the early expectations here, dot Trey Mine. I think
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: Gunther at this point is entering WrestleMania as a World
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: of Awaight champion. I think a match with Sammy Zain
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: who wins to the Royal Rumble, is one that would
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: take place at WrestleMania one year later from the New
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: contin Old Championship match because that was a very compellit
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: storyline in feud, and I think Sammy eventually goes over
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: him in the next Yeah, six to twelve months as
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: the new World Away champion, but I think this is
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: a dominating reign. I think it's matches that we're sitting
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: here going this is what we expect from Gunther Match
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: of the Night potentially. I'm excited for Gunther as the
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: World of Weight Champion on the Raw brand. But what
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: are your early expectations for this run moving forward?
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: No, I'm excited because I'm a huge fan of Gunther, like,
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: I love watching him wrestling. He's one of my favorite
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: performers in wrestling to day.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: It does.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: The nervousness about it for me is when you look
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: at that roster, you could say that he's maybe the
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: fourth most popular person, Like you look at the pecking order,
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: He's going to fall behind rawlins Back and Tire and
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: Punk for the immediate future. And so unless they shake
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: up the roster when the show goes to Netflix or something,
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: how long can you.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: Have your world champion be the fourth or fifth guy
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: on your roster?
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: At some point, you know, I kind of expect, you know,
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: Drew to get a shot gun the Punk to get
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: a shot at Gunther. Wrong, some one of those bigger
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: names is going to have to get into this world
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: title picture. Otherwise it's just weird. It's gonna be like AWESQ,
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: where sometimes the world title is not the most important
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: thing on the show for months at a time. And
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: that's that's my only nervousness about this. And it may
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: take them shaking up the roster, moving some guys around
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: to kind of bounce it all out.
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's it'll be interesting. I think the one
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: thing with guntherro doctor tref I had one knock on
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: him and he doesn't need it at all, But I
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: would like to see it is I always have felt
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: like that there's like a lack of compellities storyline with Gunther,
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: and I think if there's gonna be one thing that
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: needs potentially exposed of him going forward is as a character,
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: he's a little one dimensional as a wrestler. It could
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: be formulaic and similar at times. I think that those
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: could be a little bit of a I would love
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: to see the character catch up to the wrestler as well,
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: and I would like to see him in an equal
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: compelling feud storyline, one that is comparable to Drew mcatarcy
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: and punk bloodline, Judgment day stuff, because I would love
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: to see that area that aspect of Gunther's character.
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: I think what you're seeing right now is he misses
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: having Ludvig Kaiser with him, not that he needs a mouthpiece.
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: I think you saw them start that path with the
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: promos heading in a SummerSlam, you know, the empty arena
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: promos and things like that. He is a little bit
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: one dimensional. The Ring of Sacred, the rest of the
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: ring general, that type of thing. He needs a little
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: bit more depth.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: You also saw him kiss his wife after we We'll
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: tell you saw Jenny out there and I was like, oh,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: that's something new from Gunther we haven't seen. I think
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: he does need either somebody he needs, Lackey's he needs.
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: If you're a general, you have an army. He doesn't
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: have an army right now, so I think, you know
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: he'll need that at some point to give him a
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: little more death. But plus it also creates compelling storylines
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: if he beraates somebody at the point where they turn
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: against him and then make a healer or another baby
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: face out of it. But it's hard to build him
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: when right now he's the third or fourth most compelling
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: thing on the show. You got the Judgment Day implosion,
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: you got Real, you got Damian Finn, Rhea, Live, Punk McIntyre, Rollins,
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: Bronson Reid, and then Gumper's over here.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: It's gonna be kind of it's kind of hard.
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: To build that character up when he's not the focal
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: point of the show going forward for the next couple months.
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: Probably we're seeing that with both World Champions, isn't it
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: right now?
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: I think obviously Cody has a better chance of getting
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: back in the focal point, But you're seeing that with
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: both World Champions, which is bizarre.
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a little bit of it, like we said.
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: Like I said, it's a little bit of the issue
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: that AEW's had in the past, where where you're wanting
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: to try and build new stars up by putting the
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: title on them, but until they really get over with
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: the crowd, it's kind of hard when you have bigger
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: stars off doing other stuff not related to what the
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: World Champions doing.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: Something to think about for next week's edition of the
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: podcast as we organically sit here, because we just talked
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: about with Cody, We've talked about with guntherro We mentioned
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: it with Bailey as well, and I think you can
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: make a case with it about Damian Priest. Just something
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: to think about here. Maybe if I remember, I'll write
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: it down here. We'll bring it up on next week's show.
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: Is WWE Creative having a tough time booking the World
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: Champions because some of the most compelling feuds now don't
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: involve a world title. And this is also coming off
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: of a period of time where the Bloodline had a
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: world title in there and it was very compelling, but
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: it was it because the world title. But love Cody,
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: love Gunther, They're not a compelling storylines right now, everything
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: else that is compelling does not have a world title involved.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: So I'm gonna think about Doctor Tren. I mean we'll
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: talk about here in next week's edition to pod.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: Yeah, no, absolutely right, thanks a lot of sense.
