- 0:32what is going on everybody
- 0:34welcome to lunch time it is
- 0:36lunch with the clydesdale
- 0:38it is friday we're heading
- 0:39into the weekend not only
- 0:41is a weekend it's a
- 0:43memorial day weekend we get
- 0:44an extra day off here in
- 0:45the states so a little
- 0:49secret I took today off so
- 0:52I actually have a four-day
- 0:53weekend starting today
- 0:55however however I was up
- 0:58early this morning
- 1:00um my wife had to go in and
- 1:02have the staples removed
- 1:04from her total knee
- 1:06replacement surgery um so
- 1:10we went in had that done
- 1:12first thing this morning
- 1:15and that's a total game
- 1:15changer for her because um
- 1:19you know really everything
- 1:20about the rehab is getting
- 1:22the mobility in the knee back
- 1:25to get the bend and the
- 1:27total flex from zero degrees.
- 1:30And they won her at one
- 1:31hundred and twenty degrees.
- 1:34We had her up to one hundred
- 1:35and eleven degrees with the staples in.
- 1:39But at that point,
- 1:40the staples start to pool.
- 1:44So having those ripped out or ripped out,
- 1:47hopefully not ripped out, taken out today,
- 1:50it will give her the
- 1:51freedom to get that knee
- 1:53bend back to one hundred
- 1:54and twenty degrees where they want her.
- 1:57But the doctor is super
- 1:58pumped because she's
- 2:00already at one hundred and
- 2:01eleven just gosh what two
- 2:03and a half weeks after surgery.
- 2:07She's barely using the walker.
- 2:08I think she'll probably be
- 2:10down to just the cane
- 2:11sometime within the next week.
- 2:16she's just killing it.
- 2:18And he's so pumped because
- 2:20he said so many people have
- 2:22the surgery done,
- 2:23then don't do the work after.
- 2:25And then the surgery doesn't
- 2:26take like it should.
- 2:28And so they really struggle
- 2:29on the new knees.
- 2:31And,
- 2:32and so she's going to have two brand
- 2:34new knees, totally rehabbing up.
- 2:37And hopefully like it's a
- 2:38complete game changer for us in life.
- 2:41Because really the last few
- 2:42years we have not been able
- 2:43to do much as a family
- 2:45because she's been really
- 2:46trapped to areas where
- 2:49there's not a lot of walking,
- 2:51things of that nature.
- 2:53So super excited for her to
- 2:55get back to being mobile again.
- 2:59But yeah, big step this morning,
- 3:01getting those staples removed.
- 3:03So we were at the hospital
- 3:04first thing this morning, had that done.
- 3:07And then I decided if I'm
- 3:09taking part of the day off
- 3:11right before a three-day weekend,
- 3:12I might as well take the whole day,
- 3:14make it a four-day weekend,
- 3:16and really just kind of
- 3:19Relax a little bit this weekend.
- 3:21It has been a rat race for
- 3:22us with these surgeries,
- 3:25moving my daughter to Montana,
- 3:28plus doing all this side
- 3:31podcasting stuff.
- 3:33So I'm really pumped to just
- 3:35kind of chill out a little
- 3:36bit this weekend.
- 3:38But yeah, so there's that.
- 3:44So that's going on.
- 3:45Also, tomorrow is my wedding anniversary.
- 3:50I will have been with my
- 3:51wife tomorrow for twenty eight years,
- 3:56twenty eight years married tomorrow.
- 3:59We dated for about four
- 4:00years before the wedding.
- 4:02So it'll be thirty two years
- 4:04ish that we have been together since.
- 4:10And so, yeah, super excited about that.
- 4:12But with everything going on,
- 4:14we really have made no
- 4:15plans for the anniversary this year.
- 4:17I think we're just going to
- 4:18go do some lunch somewhere
- 4:20tomorrow and really nice
- 4:21lunch just the two of us.
- 4:24And then our goal this
- 4:25weekend is to get her
- 4:26outside a little bit more
- 4:28because she... Now that the
- 4:30scar is healed up and the staples are out,
- 4:34we're going to try to get her outside,
- 4:36moving outside a little bit
- 4:37more and maybe go...
- 4:40go to a park or something
- 4:41this weekend and just hang
- 4:43out outside a little bit,
- 4:44get some fresh air.
- 4:46But that seems to be the
- 4:49plan in place for that.
- 4:51Plus it's Memorial Day.
- 4:52Maybe we'll get a picnic together,
- 4:54do a picnic either Sunday or Monday,
- 4:57do something like that.
- 4:59You guys have any Memorial
- 5:00Day plans or festivities
- 5:02that you do every year?
- 5:03I know Murph is a big one in
- 5:06the CrossFit space.
- 5:09Murph happens on Memorial
- 5:10Day generally every year.
- 5:12I wonder how many people are
- 5:13doing that this weekend or Monday,
- 5:17and how much preparation
- 5:18have you done for that,
- 5:19and are you ready to take
- 5:20it on this year?
- 5:24So, train to live, Murph, and work.
- 5:30Well, sad part about the work.
- 5:32Sorry about the work.
- 5:34But Murph,
- 5:35I hope you have any goals this
- 5:38year for Murph,
- 5:38any different partitioning plans,
- 5:41any PRs you're heading for,
- 5:44anything like that trying to live?
- 5:47What's going on, Andrew?
- 5:54Yeah,
- 5:55I don't think I've ever done it any
- 5:56way other than the five, ten,
- 5:59fifteen every year.
- 6:03One year I tried it different.
- 6:04I take that back.
- 6:05One year I did try it different,
- 6:07and it did not go well.
- 6:09I... I tried to...
- 6:15were in a really small gym
- 6:16at the time and um and I
- 6:21had to share a pull-up bar
- 6:22with somebody so because of
- 6:24that I would I would just
- 6:27skip the pull-ups if the
- 6:28person was on the pull-up
- 6:29bar and then try to come
- 6:31back and make up for that
- 6:33And man,
- 6:34a lot of times what happened is my
- 6:36push-ups got to be well over ten.
- 6:40And I'm really good at push-ups,
- 6:42but I'm a bigger guy.
- 6:44So I reach fatigue really fast.
- 6:49And...
- 6:51And that's what happened
- 6:51when we shared the pull-up bars.
- 6:53I would get trapped in the
- 6:55push-up hell and then
- 6:58really struggle where I was
- 6:59doing the push-up flop kind of push-up.
- 7:03But yeah.
- 7:06That gets tough.
- 7:08It's already hot in Florida.
- 7:10I'll tell you what, man.
- 7:11The last couple of days,
- 7:13we were at eighty here in Ohio.
- 7:16And then someone pulled the
- 7:17rug out from under us today
- 7:20at the hospital this morning.
- 7:21It was so cold and windy,
- 7:24like whipping winds.
- 7:26Just so cold.
- 7:29But yeah.
- 7:34so that's uh that's kind of
- 7:37what my day and um my
- 7:42weekend look like right now
- 7:46the one thing I I really
- 7:47wanted to kind of dive into
- 7:49a little bit today is and
- 7:52it's it's prompted by the
- 7:55alex kazan stuff and
- 8:02And I want to start it
- 8:04because really what my thing is,
- 8:05is like we give nobody the
- 8:07benefit of the doubt anymore.
- 8:09Like the immediate first
- 8:10response is the worst thing it could be.
- 8:15And then that's the
- 8:17narrative we go forward with.
- 8:19And maybe in some instances,
- 8:22that's the correct way to do it.
- 8:23I don't know.
- 8:26I'm not here to put blame on
- 8:27anybody for doing what they did.
- 8:33I get it.
- 8:33There are news sources that
- 8:34are trying to break news.
- 8:35They're trying to do it fast.
- 8:37Their reputation is to be
- 8:39first and to be fast.
- 8:41And if they see something and they do that,
- 8:44I get it.
- 8:46I see their side of this story.
- 8:48I do.
- 8:50But in the last couple weeks, man,
- 8:53I've really been in this
- 8:55place where nobody gets the
- 8:57benefit of the doubt.
- 8:59And it started a couple weeks ago when
- 9:03I'm going to lay this out.
- 9:05I have been in this space
- 9:06for well over five years.
- 9:08I have done hundreds and
- 9:11hundreds and hundreds of interviews.
- 9:13I have done hundreds and
- 9:15hundreds of in-person
- 9:18interviews at events.
- 9:21I have established
- 9:21relationships with athletes, with coaches,
- 9:25with agents.
- 9:27And never once has anybody
- 9:28complained about
- 9:30how they were handled or
- 9:33what was done with them or
- 9:35how I treated them or the
- 9:38light I put them in.
- 9:39Never once in all of those
- 9:41five and a half years.
- 9:44Two weeks ago,
- 9:45I post a meme about a
- 9:49pyramid doing a GHD sit-up and I get a
- 9:53a DM back saying that I need to stop that,
- 9:59pull that,
- 10:00and not become part of groupthink.
- 10:05And when I eventually got to
- 10:06talk to someone involved in
- 10:10that situation,
- 10:12not the person that DMed me,
- 10:13but someone involved in that,
- 10:15my response to them was,
- 10:17how come I didn't get the
- 10:18benefit of the doubt?
- 10:20Have I not earned...
- 10:22the benefit of the doubt
- 10:23because of my reputation
- 10:25for five and a half years.
- 10:28With you, with your clients, with coaches,
- 10:33haven't I earned enough of
- 10:36that through time to be
- 10:38given the benefit of the
- 10:39doubt in that situation?
- 10:44And I think that's where...
- 10:47Things like what happened
- 10:48with Alex this week and the
- 10:51World Fitness Project is
- 10:53that nobody is being given
- 10:55the benefit of the doubt.
- 10:57Now,
- 11:01in what I do in my relationship that I
- 11:03built with Alex and her
- 11:06husband and Justin Cutler,
- 11:10my first reaction is to
- 11:11give her the benefit of the doubt.
- 11:14And not to assume the worst.
- 11:16Because over the past three years,
- 11:19they have been nothing but kind to me.
- 11:21They have been completely honest with me.
- 11:24They have never led me down
- 11:26the wrong path.
- 11:27They have never led me astray on anything.
- 11:30And they've never tried to
- 11:31manipulate me or lie to me.
- 11:36so that is my um that that's
- 11:39kind of my first blush look
- 11:42at this is they get my
- 11:43benefit of the doubt so now
- 11:47we look at the wfp my
- 11:50relationship with will
- 11:51before the wfp has was
- 11:53nothing but professional
- 11:56truthful transparent honest
- 12:00My relationship with Saxon
- 12:01before the WFP was nothing but truthful,
- 12:04honest, transparent,
- 12:08and never manipulated, never led astray,
- 12:12always truthful with me.
- 12:16All of a sudden,
- 12:16they become involved with the WFP,
- 12:18and we have to question
- 12:20everything they say.
- 12:21Well, I can't.
- 12:22I can't take away the
- 12:25relationship I've built
- 12:26with these two people over years of time.
- 12:31And I knew Saxon before I
- 12:32started podcasting.
- 12:34So that relationship even
- 12:35goes back further than five years.
- 12:38So how can you take... I
- 12:44cannot take away...
- 12:47the credibility and the
- 12:50relationship built for five
- 12:52to seven years and throw it
- 12:55away because of something
- 12:56that came out with this
- 12:59whole drug situation.
- 13:05And to me,
- 13:06both Will and Saxon have earned
- 13:08with me the benefit of the doubt.
- 13:11for me to say, okay,
- 13:13I see what's here on the surface.
- 13:15You've earned the benefit of the doubt.
- 13:18Now you can lose that over
- 13:19time by not being honest,
- 13:22by not being upfront, by not doing things,
- 13:25um, that you say you're going to do.
- 13:31So I know that everybody is
- 13:32looking into this.
- 13:33Everybody's looking at the documents,
- 13:35seeing when they've been edited,
- 13:36seeing when they've been updated.
- 13:39Um,
- 13:40seeing when relationships
- 13:42started all of this stuff
- 13:45and and again they can all
- 13:49do that because this is a
- 13:52free market with free
- 13:53speech and everybody's
- 13:54entitled to do things the
- 13:56way they want to do and I'm
- 13:57not digging on them at all
- 14:00they have the right to do
- 14:01any of that stuff but for
- 14:04me they have my benefit of the doubt now
- 14:10Is it plausible that a
- 14:13person changed their policy
- 14:16and didn't update the paperwork?
- 14:20In my head,
- 14:21that is very plausible because
- 14:23where I work, it happens all the time.
- 14:26I work for state government,
- 14:27we change laws, we change rules,
- 14:30we change procedures,
- 14:32and the documents behind it
- 14:34don't always get updated as
- 14:36fast as the policy, the rule,
- 14:38or the law gets updated.
- 14:43That reside on the internet.
- 14:46or that are our front facing
- 14:50FAQs or different things like that.
- 14:53What will happen is at some point in time,
- 14:57a constituent will then call in and say,
- 15:00hey, I thought the law was this,
- 15:02your document says that,
- 15:04and then there's a scramble
- 15:05mode where everybody's
- 15:07released to go get that document,
- 15:09get it updated whenever
- 15:12that they're made aware of it.
- 15:15That's the life I lead every single day.
- 15:19So in this instance,
- 15:21when the WFP had a document
- 15:23out there that did not say
- 15:26what was said to Alex at the event,
- 15:31it was plausible to me that
- 15:33they just didn't get around
- 15:34to updating that
- 15:36forward-facing document for
- 15:38what people can see.
- 15:41Is it ideal?
- 15:42No.
- 15:42Does it happen all the time?
- 15:46All the time.
- 15:47It's honestly, I swear to God,
- 15:49I'd live this life.
- 15:51And at least once a month,
- 15:52we're updating a document
- 15:54that got forgotten.
- 15:57And we're talking about state laws,
- 15:59state rules, state requirements.
- 16:07Andrew Stan, in the corporate world,
- 16:09updating documents always
- 16:10takes a while because the
- 16:11language has to be screened
- 16:13by legal people, which takes time.
- 16:15There's all that as well.
- 16:16In state government,
- 16:17we have the Office of
- 16:18Communications who has to see it,
- 16:20legal who has to see it,
- 16:23and then every big
- 16:25politician involved in it
- 16:27wants to see it before it
- 16:28goes out to the public.
- 16:30All that stuff.
- 16:33So all of this is plausible, right?
- 16:37So in my mind,
- 16:38they all get the benefit of
- 16:39the doubt at this point in
- 16:40time until they prove me wrong.
- 16:44And I will admit I am a hopeless romantic.
- 16:49I want to believe in people
- 16:51from the first minute I meet them.
- 16:54And then you have to prove
- 16:56to me that you are not
- 16:57trustworthy or not someone
- 17:00not to believe in.
- 17:02That has to be proven to me over time.
- 17:05And listen,
- 17:06my heart gets broken a lot
- 17:08living life that way.
- 17:10And I know there are other
- 17:11people in this world that
- 17:13go into every relationship saying,
- 17:15this person's going to burn me.
- 17:17I'm just waiting for the time.
- 17:20Or they have to prove to me
- 17:21that they're trustworthy
- 17:23instead of the other way around.
- 17:29So I am a person who really
- 17:32comes into life and I've
- 17:33been burned a ton and I've
- 17:36never learned my lesson.
- 17:38I always come in open-minded.
- 17:40I want to believe in you
- 17:41until you prove to me that
- 17:42I can't believe in you anymore.
- 17:49Um, Andrew says,
- 17:49I think the issue is people
- 17:51have been burned by giving
- 17:52the benefit of the doubt in the past.
- 17:53So people just jumped to not doing it now.
- 17:56I think there are people like that.
- 17:57And I think there are people
- 17:58just wired differently than me.
- 18:00Right.
- 18:01I'm not saying what the way
- 18:02I live life is the perfect way.
- 18:03Cause I get,
- 18:05there are a lot of
- 18:06disappointments when you live that,
- 18:07that way.
- 18:10you get disappointed a lot
- 18:11and you have to be able to
- 18:11live with that.
- 18:13And every time I get burned, I'm like,
- 18:14I'm going to stop trusting people.
- 18:16I'm going to stop believing in people,
- 18:18but I'm just not wired that way.
- 18:21When I meet you at an event,
- 18:22my first thought is, Hey,
- 18:25this is a really cool person.
- 18:26This is a cool relationship.
- 18:27Let's see where this goes.
- 18:30I never look at it as, Hey,
- 18:31they're gonna have to,
- 18:33before I talk to them about
- 18:34anything and you'll,
- 18:35if you find me at a competition,
- 18:37I am such an open book.
- 18:38I talk about everything.
- 18:42Right after we meet, I'm just that way.
- 18:45But not everybody is that way,
- 18:47and I get it.
- 18:48It's okay.
- 18:49It's what makes the world great.
- 18:51It's what makes everything
- 18:55we do awesome because
- 18:56everybody does come in with
- 18:57a different perspective and
- 18:59a different way of doing things,
- 19:00and all of those are okay.
- 19:02All of those are okay.
- 19:05It makes for interesting conversations.
- 19:13I could never do what the spin does.
- 19:16I just couldn't.
- 19:17I'm just not wired that way.
- 19:19But thank God he does it
- 19:20because he's the one place
- 19:22I can go to catch up with
- 19:24everything that's going on in the space.
- 19:28Is everything that he does
- 19:33something that I agree with?
- 19:35Probably not.
- 19:37But there's no better
- 19:38resource in the space than
- 19:40him for the most current news.
- 19:43And so if this is the way
- 19:45his brain works and the way he works,
- 19:48then I'm cool with all of that.
- 19:55That's just the way it is.
- 19:59And it's cool that he does that.
- 20:00We both can exist in the
- 20:01same atmosphere and both do
- 20:04our own thing in our own
- 20:05way and both live our lives
- 20:11in a cool way.
- 20:12That's
- 20:14so I'm going to give the wfp
- 20:18the benefit of the doubt so
- 20:21many major sports leagues
- 20:23have removed cannabis and
- 20:25cannabinoids as a banned substance
- 20:30that it makes logical sense
- 20:33if they are working with
- 20:34wada or drug free sport
- 20:36that they would say hey all
- 20:37these other places are
- 20:38getting rid of it maybe
- 20:40it's something you should
- 20:41consider too do you want to
- 20:42keep it in or keep it out
- 20:44and then they they just
- 20:45forgot to update their
- 20:47forward-facing document
- 20:55halpin says there's also a
- 20:56jump to post first ask question second
- 21:00And that he is not saved from that.
- 21:01I think we all make mistakes like that,
- 21:03where you think you have
- 21:04like this breaking news or
- 21:06I've posted stuff super
- 21:07fast and then been like, ah, damn,
- 21:10I shouldn't have.
- 21:12Or.
- 21:16And it takes me back to Herman Edwards,
- 21:19who was a coach for the
- 21:20Jets and the Chiefs and Arizona State.
- 21:23And he always says,
- 21:25take a breath and think
- 21:26before you hit send.
- 21:28And I think we all could
- 21:30benefit from that.
- 21:31I think we've all made those mistakes.
- 21:38But yeah, it's...
- 21:41But I think whatever reputation you build,
- 21:43whatever your consistent piece is,
- 21:46that's going to be what
- 21:48we're going to look to,
- 21:49and that's what we're going to expect.
- 21:56Andrew Sten,
- 21:57that's the nature of news these days,
- 21:58the rush to get a story out
- 22:00so you can get the clicks
- 22:01views first rather than
- 22:02verifying much of anything.
- 22:05I agree.
- 22:08Me personally, there was a year ago,
- 22:11maybe two years ago,
- 22:13I was trying to get stuff out quick.
- 22:17But I learned that I'm just
- 22:18not that guy anymore.
- 22:23What I am in this space is a guy that...
- 22:26I build relationships with
- 22:28athletes and coaches.
- 22:29I talk to them off the record.
- 22:31I know things and that's fine.
- 22:34I'm not going to say them
- 22:35because that's just not my
- 22:38position or place anymore.
- 22:41But the fact that they can
- 22:42trust me gives them the
- 22:46ability to know they can
- 22:47come to me and they can do
- 22:48a show with me and I'll
- 22:50respect whatever their wishes are.
- 22:53It doesn't mean that I won't
- 22:54be critical of them at
- 22:55times or that I won't ask
- 22:59them hard questions,
- 23:01but they know they'll get a
- 23:02fair shake when they come on this show.
- 23:10But.
- 23:12and I'm not saying this to
- 23:13brag like people tell me
- 23:15things in this space
- 23:17because I'm not going to
- 23:18say them anymore I I'm not
- 23:20trying to be the first out
- 23:21of the gate with anything anymore
- 23:24but I use it as context in
- 23:26my thoughts and opinions on
- 23:27the Sunday night show.
- 23:29I may use them in my
- 23:30thoughts and opinions on this show,
- 23:32but I'm not going to
- 23:35divulge what was said to me
- 23:37or things of that nature.
- 23:39And then the athletes and
- 23:41the coaches know that to be true.
- 23:44And what's interesting is
- 23:45going back to the
- 23:46conversation I had with the
- 23:48person that accused me of
- 23:50group think was that after I asked,
- 23:54why didn't I get the
- 23:55benefit of the doubt?
- 23:56They admitted that they
- 23:57should have given me the
- 23:58benefit of the doubt that
- 24:00my reputation should have
- 24:02led them to believe that I
- 24:04deserve the benefit of the
- 24:05doubt before jumping on me
- 24:07for thinking that I'm
- 24:08jumping into group think.
- 24:15So that's my monologue on
- 24:18benefit of the doubt.
- 24:20That's where I am with this story.
- 24:24Alex, Justin, Will, and Saxon,
- 24:27I have long-term relationships with,
- 24:30and they have done nothing
- 24:32to sway me away from their
- 24:34trust and their belief at this point.
- 24:38And so at that point,
- 24:39they deserve my benefit of the doubt.
- 24:41And that's where I stand on the story.
- 24:44Plus,
- 24:44I have lived a life where I've seen
- 24:47things done where rules and
- 24:49policies have been changed
- 24:50and the document doesn't
- 24:51get done as quickly as the thought.
- 24:56If you have followed government,
- 24:58I'm sure you can believe
- 25:00that policies and rules are changed,
- 25:02laws are changed,
- 25:03and all of the front-facing
- 25:05documents about those laws, rules,
- 25:07and policies are not updated immediately.
- 25:12It happens every month where
- 25:14we are sent on a scavenger
- 25:15hunt because a constituent
- 25:18calls in and says,
- 25:19I found this and it's wrong.
- 25:22And then we are digging for
- 25:23every place where we forgot
- 25:25to make that change happens
- 25:28every month where I work.
- 25:34So.
- 25:36got a couple minutes left
- 25:37today um what I want to do
- 25:39is open it up to you guys
- 25:41if you have any questions
- 25:42for me I'll answer
- 25:43questions today but other
- 25:46than that um alpin says I
- 25:54don't think anyone in the
- 25:55space wants to go down the
- 25:56road on a conversation when
- 25:58the gold standard seemingly
- 26:00is crossfit llc well that's
- 26:03my other thing like
- 26:06Every time that WFP makes a mistake,
- 26:09we are, we, I shouldn't say we,
- 26:13there is a sense that they
- 26:15are being bashed for whatever they do.
- 26:19We have spent twenty years
- 26:22complaining that CrossFit
- 26:23can't put together a season
- 26:25that makes any sense.
- 26:27We have given them chance
- 26:30after chance after chance after chance,
- 26:33and it never gets to a
- 26:34place where it makes sense.
- 26:39We ask for transparency.
- 26:42Never do we get transparency
- 26:43from CrossFit LLC.
- 26:46The one thing I will tell
- 26:47you that the WFP does ten
- 26:49times better than CrossFit
- 26:50has ever done is they issue
- 26:53press releases.
- 26:55I am a member of the media.
- 26:56I applied for media credentials at the WFP,
- 26:59and I get an email every
- 27:00time a press release comes
- 27:02out to notify me that this
- 27:04has happened with the press
- 27:06release as an attachment.
- 27:08I don't have to go to
- 27:09somebody's instagram page
- 27:11and hope it's there whoa
- 27:12it's not there now I got to
- 27:13go to the crossfit games
- 27:14instagram page maybe it's
- 27:16there nope nope not there
- 27:17oh it's on the media page
- 27:19in the website that nobody
- 27:21can really find from the
- 27:22menu online you've got to
- 27:24have like the direct link
- 27:27and then it might be there um
- 27:33Yesterday when this all went down,
- 27:35WFP came out with a press
- 27:37release early afternoon.
- 27:39They had dealt with it head on.
- 27:41They said where their stance was,
- 27:43and that was the end of the story,
- 27:45in my opinion.
- 27:49Other people didn't take that,
- 27:50but you would never get a
- 27:52press release from CrossFit
- 27:53if this happened to an
- 27:55athlete at one of their
- 27:56events and the same questions coming up.
- 28:04because they've lost my
- 28:05benefit of the doubt.
- 28:06CrossFit LLC has lost my
- 28:08benefit of the doubt when
- 28:11it comes to communicating
- 28:12what's going on and putting
- 28:15together a season that makes sense.
- 28:21Barbell spin, what did I miss?
- 28:22You missed just a fifteen
- 28:25minute monologue about
- 28:27benefit of the doubt and
- 28:29where my thoughts lie.
- 28:37But I also said that you
- 28:38have the right to do what you did.
- 28:41And if you wanted to post that story,
- 28:43that's what you are good at.
- 28:44That's what you're known for.
- 28:46You're trying to be the
- 28:47fastest and the most
- 28:49accurate person in the space.
- 28:51That's not what I do.
- 28:52So I have the opportunity to
- 28:54give the benefit of the doubt.
- 29:20Trained to live.
- 29:22CrossFit gave athletes
- 29:23judged by the AFJ the
- 29:24benefit of the doubt, but not others.
- 29:26So there's that.
- 29:45Sorry about that.
- 29:48It is cottonwood season in Ohio.
- 29:50If anybody knows what that is,
- 29:52it is ripping me up.
- 30:02I will ask you this spin.
- 30:06How many rules has CrossFit
- 30:07changed and not told anybody?
- 30:15I will say there have been
- 30:15changes to the drug policy
- 30:18over time that there's
- 30:20never been a release from
- 30:21CrossFit in any changes
- 30:22they've made in the last twenty years.
- 30:55I am sorry guys.
- 31:00So he says,
- 31:00so the other women followed
- 31:02what was published.
- 31:04We don't know.
- 31:10Um,
- 31:12did they follow it or did they just not
- 31:13admit to taking something
- 31:14on a live podcast?
- 31:25I don't know in my five and
- 31:29a half years of doing media,
- 31:32I've never been given a
- 31:33release about a change in
- 31:34the drug policy from CrossFit.
- 31:39I don't, so I don't know.
- 31:42I don't,
- 31:42it's not something I look at continually.
- 31:45Um,
- 31:47but I know I've heard from athletes
- 31:49that it's their
- 31:49responsibility to keep up
- 31:51with this stuff as much as they can.
- 31:53Um,
- 31:55and if they miss something
- 31:58it's their responsibility
- 32:00um in my opinion from
- 32:05hearing what alex said
- 32:06today she realized what she
- 32:10had done after the fact
- 32:12after the wp was done and
- 32:15went to will and asked him
- 32:17and that's when he told her
- 32:19uh that it was changed and
- 32:20she was willing to accept
- 32:21the punishment if it wasn't
- 32:33If the same thing happened
- 32:34with CrossFit and Castro,
- 32:35the community would be outraged.
- 32:36Why not the same for WFP?
- 32:42Again, I come from a place,
- 32:45and you missed my monologue.
- 32:50I come from a place where every day I...
- 32:55I work for state government.
- 32:57We change rules, laws,
- 32:59policies all the time.
- 33:00And the front-facing
- 33:01document does not
- 33:03necessarily get updated in
- 33:05every place that it needs to be.
- 33:08Then a constituent calls in,
- 33:10tells us we're wrong,
- 33:11and we go make that change
- 33:13as quickly as possible now
- 33:14that we are aware of it.
- 33:17That's what I live every single day.
- 33:20So for me and my experience,
- 33:22this is something that
- 33:24would not surprise me that
- 33:28you change a policy or a
- 33:30procedure and you didn't
- 33:32get the document updated in time.
- 33:39Um, and I,
- 33:47To give the hypothetical
- 33:49about Castro and the games, to me,
- 33:51they don't have the benefit
- 33:52of the doubt that the WFP does.
- 33:54I have had a long-term
- 33:55relationship with Will and Saxon,
- 33:57so they have earned some
- 33:59benefit of the doubt from
- 34:01me because they have never
- 34:03not been transparent and open to me.
- 34:10I don't have that same
- 34:11relationship with CrossFit, LLC, Castro,
- 34:14or any of that.
- 34:25And I did say that I did not
- 34:27blame you for posting the story.
- 34:28I did not.
- 34:30You have every right to do so.
- 34:32I was just giving my
- 34:33perspective and my life
- 34:35experience as to why I
- 34:36would give the benefit of the doubt.
- 34:41And I use the example of
- 34:44people coming at me saying
- 34:45I jump into group think and
- 34:47nobody gave me the benefit
- 34:48of the doubt after five and
- 34:49a half years of
- 34:50establishing a relationship
- 34:52with all these people where
- 34:53I do not call athletes out,
- 34:57where I do not treat them
- 35:00disrespectfully in any way.
- 35:08So.
- 35:15That's why I said what I said.
- 35:18Will and Saxon,
- 35:19I've known for a very long time,
- 35:20and they've never done
- 35:22anything to lose my trust.
- 35:25CrossFit has had twenty
- 35:26years of doing things that
- 35:29have lost my trust.
- 35:33On the sports side,
- 35:34I still love the methodology.
- 35:36I still love my gym.
- 35:37I still love going to the
- 35:39gym in my community.
- 35:40All of that.
- 35:46rambler I'm not biased I'm
- 35:48telling you flat out why I
- 35:50believe the way I believe
- 35:52and I said that other
- 35:53people are entitled to
- 35:54their opinion there are
- 35:55different people in this
- 35:56world some people come into
- 35:57relationships open and and
- 36:02are open until they're
- 36:03proven to be untrustworthy
- 36:05other people come into a
- 36:06relationship and say I'm
- 36:07not going to trust you
- 36:08until you earn it they're
- 36:10just different people and
- 36:11it's okay it's okay for all
- 36:13of us to have this conversation
- 36:18I don't mind it.
- 36:20And yeah, does that come with some biases?
- 36:22Sure.
- 36:23It also comes with experience.
- 36:27I've known Saxon since twenty sixteen.
- 36:32He has come to my gym.
- 36:33He has worked out with us.
- 36:35I've known him for a very
- 36:36long time and he has never lied to me.
- 36:39He's always been transparent with me.
- 36:41So he gets my benefit of the doubt.
- 36:42He's earned that.
- 36:45Will Morad I've known for a
- 36:46very long time.
- 36:48He's never lied to me.
- 36:49He's never been anything but
- 36:51transparent with me.
- 36:52He gets my benefit of the doubt.
- 36:59I'm not up in arms.
- 37:00You're jumping into a
- 37:01conversation at the end and
- 37:02didn't listen to anything
- 37:04that I said earlier in the show.
- 37:06I said Spin was completely
- 37:08entitled to print what he did,
- 37:10and he is fine to do so,
- 37:15and it's okay to have that
- 37:16in the conversation.
- 37:20Don't jump in after I've
- 37:21already said what I said
- 37:24and then tell me what I meant.
- 37:25You weren't even here for
- 37:26the main conversation.
- 37:35I said I'm a hopeless
- 37:36romantic and I believe in
- 37:38people when I first meet them.
- 37:40And then they do something
- 37:41and they burn me and then
- 37:43they lose my trust.
- 37:45I have long-term
- 37:46relationships with people in this space.
- 37:48Two of them happen to be
- 37:49Will Morad and Saxon Pancheck.
- 37:51So I'm going to believe in
- 37:52them and I'm going to trust
- 37:54them until they burn me and then I can't.
- 37:57So I give them the benefit
- 37:58of the doubt until they prove me wrong.
- 38:01That's it.
- 38:05This was not an indictment
- 38:06on what spin did.
- 38:07I said it was fine for him to do that.
- 38:10Um,
- 38:14And I said, he's the best at what he does.
- 38:16And if it wasn't for him,
- 38:17I wouldn't have a place to
- 38:18go to get the news.
- 38:22But from my perspective and what I do,
- 38:26they get my benefit of the
- 38:27doubt until they lose it.
- 38:39Kenneth says,
- 38:41I think Rambler is thinking
- 38:42out loud to himself or about himself.
- 38:45Okay.
- 38:49Barry McOchner says dense
- 38:51reported about the document change dates.
- 38:53We talked about that as well.
- 38:56I work in state government.
- 38:58Documents don't get changed timely.
- 39:01It's what I live.
- 39:03At least once a month,
- 39:04I'm looking for a document
- 39:05that didn't get changed
- 39:06because we changed a policy, a procedure,
- 39:09or a law.
- 39:10And some document online did
- 39:12not get updated.
- 39:13And somebody calls in and says,
- 39:15this is wrong.
- 39:17And then we're sent on a
- 39:18hunt to find every document
- 39:19where that might land and
- 39:21go change them after the fact.
- 39:24It happens all the time where I work.
- 39:26I was just explaining that for me,
- 39:29that's a very plausible
- 39:30thing that could happen
- 39:31because I live that every day.
- 39:40That's all.
- 39:44None of what I said today
- 39:45was an indictment on spin
- 39:47or his actions or anything he did.
- 39:50I still use him as a new
- 39:51source all the time to find my stuff.
- 39:59I always said was I had
- 40:00long-term relationships with Alex, Justin,
- 40:04Will, and Saxon,
- 40:05and they have earned my
- 40:06benefit of the doubt.
- 40:07That's it.
- 40:12And I think in overall in life,
- 40:14people have stopped giving
- 40:17the benefit of the doubt.
- 40:18And they just, if there's one fact,
- 40:19they jump to conclusions.
- 40:23And there are some people
- 40:24just wired that way and it's okay.
- 40:31But with that,
- 40:33it is about the end of my lunch hour.
- 40:36Tomorrow is my twenty eighth
- 40:37wedding anniversary,
- 40:38so I'm going to go hang out with my wife,
- 40:41who has just had the
- 40:42staples removed from her knee,
- 40:44and now she is on the road to recovery.
- 40:47And with that,
- 40:47I hope you all have a great
- 40:49Memorial Day weekend.
- 40:51We will be back on Sunday
- 40:53night for Sunday Night CrossFit talk,
- 40:55even during the holiday weekend.
- 40:57And then I'll be back on Monday.
- 41:00on Memorial day to do a
- 41:01lunch with the Clydesdale.
- 41:03Hopefully we have some
- 41:04content to talk about like we did today.
- 41:07Um, and with that,
- 41:08I hope you all have a great
- 41:09three day weekend and we'll
- 41:12see you all next time on
- 41:13lunch with the Clydesdale.
- 41:16Bye guys.
