- 0:21Hi. Hi, good morning.
- 0:23Morning. Why does it feel like it's been
- 0:25forever since we've recorded? Literally because we talked
- 0:29what, Monday, last week? Tuesday.
- 0:31OK, Really. Right, Right.
- 0:34No, I think it was Monday. It was.
- 0:36Yeah, I think I could be wrong, but it feels like it was forever
- 0:39ago. Yeah, yeah, I definitely know it
- 0:41was at least a day or two earlier, but yeah, I feel like
- 0:44it's been forever. I know, so how was your?
- 0:46Birthday. It was good.
- 0:48Yeah, it was a really good day. I can't remember what's the
- 0:52repetition or what's not based on what I've said here, but
- 0:55Casey had asked me like, earlier on, like, what do you want for
- 0:57your birthday? I'm like, I don't really, like
- 1:00want anything. I just want to be thought of.
- 1:02And I want sunshine. And I'm like, and I know you can
- 1:05only control one of those. So it was like Gray and cloudy
- 1:11in the beginning of the day. And then around like 3:00 PM,
- 1:13the the sun came out, so we went for a walk with our dogs before
- 1:17going to our dinner. He's like, OK, well, did you get
- 1:20everything you wanted for your birthday?
- 1:22And I was like, yes, that was really good.
- 1:24Yeah. And then the, like, chef
- 1:28experience of going and making our own meal and stuff.
- 1:31It was really fun. Yeah.
- 1:33I, I really liked it. I would totally do another one.
- 1:36They do like brunch options, too.
- 1:39I think that would be really fun just because it is way past your
- 1:43bedtime. What?
- 1:43Time was it. Well, it was 7 to 9, but like we
- 1:48were like eating the dinner at like 8:45.
- 1:52Really. Yes, because.
- 1:55Yeah. So like, hold on intermission
- 1:57first. I was just saying I always drink
- 1:59so much I feel like and. So we're also talking and it's
- 2:03like, I sound like, well, I did kind of just get out of bed not
- 2:06long ago, so I sound kind of raspy.
- 2:09But like I noticed in that because sometimes I'll go back
- 2:11and like watch some of the episode and I'm like constantly
- 2:15drinking, yes. Yeah, I never watch it, but I'll
- 2:19like listen to it in the car, so I would never notice that.
- 2:21OK, but so the chef thing, I didn't realize that you would be
- 2:24like standing in an apron cooking.
- 2:26Yeah, yeah. What did you think when I
- 2:29explained? That actually I that's a lie.
- 2:31I think I did know that you were going to do that, but when you
- 2:34sent me the picture, I think I for some reason thought you'd
- 2:37just send a picture of like, I don't know, being at a chef
- 2:40table or something, like having all these cool yeah meals.
- 2:43I don't. Know yeah no like you stand the
- 2:45whole time so it's definitely not for like people I can't
- 2:48stand for two hours yeah and it's cool because they have some
- 2:53stuff that they like still have you like go through and make it
- 2:56but like for instance we made pizza and they did one where
- 3:00it's you know different than like the dough that you and I
- 3:02make where it needs to rise and stuff like that so they had us
- 3:07make the dough just so that we would know how to like make it
- 3:09at home but then he had dough prepped for us to actually.
- 3:12Like. Set it out and put the toppings
- 3:15on. But yeah, it was really fun.
- 3:18And the one thing that like I was like, I don't think I'm
- 3:20really going to like it, but I wanted to try something
- 3:22different than like, because a couple of the menus I was
- 3:25looking at like the one we ended up doing was like the tour of
- 3:28Italy type of thing. And then there was another one
- 3:32that was still kind of like Italian vibes, but they were
- 3:34doing a lot of like they were doing chicken thighs.
- 3:35And I'm like, well, we make chicken thighs at home so much.
- 3:38So I'm like, I want to do something different.
- 3:39This one was like meatballs the pizza, which we make pizza at
- 3:42home too, but in this like cauliflower red pepper salad
- 3:47that I was like I did not think I was going to like because it
- 3:50has like capers in it and I just don't think I'm really a capers
- 3:54person. I guess.
- 3:54I don't know. But when it all came together I
- 3:58was like, I would genuinely make this at home.
- 4:00It was so good. Like roasted cauliflower.
- 4:03Yeah, it was roasted cauliflower.
- 4:04Then you end up, like chopping parsley and mint.
- 4:07Mint I would have never thought of.
- 4:09Yeah. And then you chopped up red like
- 4:12you Julian styled the red Peppers.
- 4:15And then it was like a red wine, put a little bit of like sugar
- 4:19in it and olive oil. And like that was the dressing,
- 4:23if you will. It was just like super light and
- 4:26fresh and like delicious. OK, have I told you that I I'm
- 4:31almost always having a fantasy of becoming a chef?
- 4:35Well, I mean no, but that doesn't surprise me whatsoever.
- 4:38Well, it's usually when I'm watching like a chef show.
- 4:39Oh yeah, I love like we just. You say your favorite process of
- 4:45the soup is chopping the veggies.
- 4:47Yes. Not me.
- 4:48I'm like. But my favorite is watching TV
- 4:52while I cook. We never did that when y'all
- 4:54were here. Because you're not.
- 4:55You like TV, but in the evening basically.
- 4:59I have it on all day long when I'm cooking.
- 5:01Yes. It's very calming to me.
- 5:03Like I'll put on like Great British and like, oh, yeah,
- 5:06popping or Harry Potter. The movies are kind of like
- 5:10calming to me. Yeah.
- 5:11But like I would never be able to do the the schedule.
- 5:14I always think of that. I'm like, oh, I would.
- 5:16I even said to Bobby maybe I should go to chef's school, but
- 5:19then I'd have to work in a restaurant and be there.
- 5:21I don't know the night. At least.
- 5:24The last few days I've been going to bed at 7:00.
- 5:26What? Why?
- 5:27I don't know why, yeah. Is there anything I need to
- 5:31know? I don't know.
- 5:32Well, the other night I woke up at 3:15, which was odd.
- 5:35That is odd. Are you tired from gardening and
- 5:39doing nothing well? I am working on a book, so I've
- 5:44been doing something, but Oh my gosh, yeah.
- 5:45Not like having a bunch of training dogs or anything.
- 5:47Yeah, yeah. But OK, what do you want to talk
- 5:52about? No, I, I have some questions,
- 5:55but is there anything else going on?
- 5:56How how is dogs right now and. Yeah, all good.
- 6:00Had to take Birdie to the vet yesterday.
- 6:02We started noticing it when we were in Florida.
- 6:04Like a lump or a bump on the back of one of her legs.
- 6:09And so we're just like, I don't know, we just want to get it
- 6:13checked to make sure she's OK. And when we first got in there,
- 6:16like the vet was like feeling it and stuff like that.
- 6:17And it's like very small, but it sounded like they were kind of
- 6:20thinking it was like one of those like fatty lumps that like
- 6:23Charlie has. When you guys went in, did you
- 6:26guys get samples taken out of them?
- 6:28Like they put needles in them and put to look.
- 6:31On her slides a while back, it was probably like a year ago,
- 6:35but then the other time that we took him, they just basically
- 6:40felt them because there's something about if it comes away
- 6:42from the skin, it's usually a fatty tumor they can't like.
- 6:46Or like a cyst or. But yeah, like that's what I
- 6:48mean. Genuinely.
- 6:49She was like, Yep, that's exactly what I think it is.
- 6:52So then she took a sample and went to look at it and she's
- 6:55like, no, that's not what it is. So I'm like, well, like how many
- 6:57are people are just leaving thinking that's what their dog
- 7:00has. Yeah, I know.
- 7:01And I will say, like, you know, we're a little bit more
- 7:04sensitive to like, seeing like a lump on something.
- 7:07So yeah, yeah. So I think it's going to be
- 7:10totally fine. But we haven't gotten.
- 7:11They have to send it out to pathology.
- 7:14But of course, I get like anxious even thinking about like
- 7:17the waiting game of that. Yeah.
- 7:19And thinking it could be anything bad.
- 7:21But yeah. So that's the only thing that
- 7:22I'm kind of like feeling a little like.
- 7:24Yeah. But I think she's going to be
- 7:27totally fine, just kind of of course, when they're like, Oh
- 7:30yeah, I think it's definitely this.
- 7:32And then I'm just like, please don't tell me you think it's
- 7:35definitely anything until we just know because like, we've
- 7:38had that on, you know, our human stuff.
- 7:40And I'm like, it just doesn't help.
- 7:42Just wait till we have facts please.
- 7:44Yeah. So yeah, so besides that, like
- 7:47she's totally fine. She's not acting weird at all.
- 7:51And then her roadies been he's had.
- 7:54It's probably because, like, the weather's getting nicer here and
- 7:56stuff, but he's been Mr. Energetic.
- 7:58Like he needed two walks yesterday because I was down in
- 8:02the kennel room. Still, it was like little after
- 8:045 in case he's like, I'm taking on our our dogs on another walk.
- 8:06Like Rhody needs something to do.
- 8:08I'm like, perfect. I'm like, I love that he's like
- 8:10slightly bugging you and not actually bugging him.
- 8:12But like, he must have just started like getting up and like
- 8:15walking around, like, OK, what? I need to do something.
- 8:18So I'm like, hey, that's, that's a good sign.
- 8:20We'll do whatever the kid needs. Yeah.
- 8:24I was thinking about something. It was just like an odd thing I
- 8:26was thinking of. But Instagram to me, I think
- 8:30I've realized what it is because a lot of people will say it's a
- 8:31highlight reel, which it totally mainly is.
- 8:34But it's basically like how it feels and you've only dated
- 8:38Casey. But even think back to like when
- 8:40you first were dating him, when you were first dating someone
- 8:43and you put your best foot forward.
- 8:45You're like, you do all the things.
- 8:47You look super cute. I'll just do for myself.
- 8:49I do my hair all the time or cute little dresses.
- 8:52That's what Instagram feels like.
- 8:54Like I almost shared a the this weekend we biked to Publix
- 8:59'cause it was so nice. I almost shared a selfie of like
- 9:02us like biking. And I was like, oh, 'cause I
- 9:04have this thing in my head of it's just, well, it's a
- 9:07highlight reel. I guess that's the easiest way
- 9:09to say it. I've been feeling a little
- 9:10annoyed by that. Not by people I follow
- 9:13necessarily. Just like the idea of it.
- 9:15Where you. Just like I want to share this
- 9:16just 'cause I'm enjoying it in the moment, but you're like, we
- 9:19never bike to public, so why am I sharing this type of thing?
- 9:21Is that where your brain was going?
- 9:22Yeah, just. Like I'm feeding into it.
- 9:24I don't know. I'm just like in a not in like a
- 9:26anti social media thing. But I think there's just seasons
- 9:30to it. And like, I remember when I was
- 9:32a new trainer, I couldn't share enough.
- 9:34I wanted to share every single second of everything that I was
- 9:36doing. Yeah.
- 9:38And now I'm like, I mean, when I have a training dog and, you
- 9:42know, you share for the owners you work with.
- 9:44And. But I was just thinking, oh,
- 9:46it'd be like, I got this cute little basket for eggs.
- 9:48We went to a couple of antique stores this weekend and we the
- 9:52first one I almost that does. Not seem like a you thing at
- 9:55all, no. I well, I told you I would pick
- 9:58stuff up off the side of the road like we did it.
- 10:00While we were there. Oh, yeah, But that was really
- 10:02cute. I remember we might pass the two
- 10:05stools. And I was like, should I get
- 10:06these? You're like, no.
- 10:09See, that's so funny. I feel like you're there's like
- 10:112 vibes of you of like you'll pick up something that's like,
- 10:13what? Hello.
- 10:15That looks like it's been in someone's basement for 20 years
- 10:17or like, Oh no, no, I cannot wear someone's shirt that's been
- 10:20washed and they wore it once. Oh yeah.
- 10:22Yeah, totally. Yeah, there's two.
- 10:26Screams are wild. Well, because we went into this
- 10:31one antique store that it's by where we went to that cafe, the
- 10:34White Wolf Cafe. So it's like a cute little area.
- 10:37And I was like, how would that? Area seems like a vibe that
- 10:39would have an antique store, yes.
- 10:41And it's giant. I almost bought a big.
- 10:44I needed like a small one, like small.
- 10:46And I almost bought a big one because it's lady.
- 10:48What? Basket.
- 10:49Oh, OK, I'm sorry, I'm talking. I'm in my head already.
- 10:53This. Like the shape you made, that's
- 10:54when you were holding a sandwich.
- 10:56I'm like, what do you mean it was?
- 11:00Like a giant basket with like a handle.
- 11:04And it was, it was like $90.00, but it was just.
- 11:07God. But in this store, I guess
- 11:09everyone has stalls which they're not really like.
- 11:12You can't. Actually have a place like that
- 11:14here. It's like their own little booth
- 11:15section, right? Yeah.
- 11:17But yeah, it's more like sections.
- 11:19So you, it's not like this is Suzanne's area, so you don't
- 11:22really know. So I walk in and I'm like, this
- 11:25lady is like, oh, can I help you with anything?
- 11:27Looking for something? And I'm like, yeah, basket for
- 11:29my chickens eggs. And she was like, oh, I think I
- 11:32have something. And I figure, oh, she's the
- 11:33owner of the store. Love that.
- 11:36And so start following her and she's like, I have like some
- 11:39stuff in the back, like whatever overflow.
- 11:42I'm like, great, taking me to the secret area of the store
- 11:45special. It turns out Suzanne just has a
- 11:47booth and then so I which is fine.
- 11:50And so now I'm like into her story.
- 11:51She's telling me about why she's there.
- 11:53All these things I'm like in it, of course.
- 11:55You are, so we go. Back and she shows me the basket
- 11:59I'm like oh OK I almost get it just because I'm in her story
- 12:02now $90.00 and I was like OK I'm going to run it by Bobby real
- 12:06quick just see what he thinks and then we walked out fit on my
- 12:10lap let's. Even get in.
- 12:16Oh, if you're watching the episode of the video, you can
- 12:19see the Kitty. So you didn't get the $90.00
- 12:25basket? No.
- 12:26So, so glad, Bobby. Was there with you.
- 12:28He would have been like, oh jeez, your tail just whipped me
- 12:31in the eyeball. He would have been like, if you
- 12:33brought home an antique giant $90.00 basket.
- 12:37He would just be like, it's like the Judy.
- 12:42Jacket all over again. Yeah, but this Judy jacket, he
- 12:46kept his mouth zipped again. Because you looked cute in it.
- 12:51Oh, that was something that was also so funny.
- 12:52I never realized, I think I said this to you, how groaning of a
- 12:57person Bobby can be. Oh, I you told me and I told him
- 13:01and he was like, really? I was groaning a lot.
- 13:04Oh, I would tell him too, but like, especially when you guys
- 13:08had a lot going on between the chickens and Charlie.
- 13:11But it would be like, it would be like Charlie's heading to the
- 13:14back, like dodging away from him.
- 13:16And he'd just like, I just felt for him because like, you're
- 13:24trying not to get mad at your old dog, but it's like he was
- 13:28just doing weird behaviors. So it'd be like CCC And then
- 13:33Charlie would be like, bye, dad, I'm out of here.
- 13:35And then I would just hear no. So it wasn't like weird placed
- 13:45groans. It was like very fair.
- 13:47I would also be like, Oh my gosh.
- 13:50Or you'd be taking like big deep breaths.
- 13:53I'm like, at least he's regulating his system.
- 13:58But that's how I could picture him like you bringing home this
- 14:00$90.00 basket, him just being like.
- 14:04No, no, He saves those groans for the very annoying moments
- 14:08where he's like, all right, a big giant basket you don't need.
- 14:11Fine, whatever. You know, he saves the groans
- 14:14for like the moments when it's like, or I would say like, oh,
- 14:17Jesus or something. Yes, yeah.
- 14:19Exactly. So where'd you end up getting a
- 14:21little basket from? Went up the road.
- 14:25So you got anything at this? Place No.
- 14:27No, that's. That's sometimes do you feel
- 14:29like if you go in somewhere and especially if it's quiet, you
- 14:31need to buy something. Oh yeah.
- 14:32For sure, and also there's people at their stalls I.
- 14:35Know so then I'm like literally my sister and I and Eloise went
- 14:40to a place similar to that it's actually right next to Planet
- 14:43Fitness and I've never been into it it's just a huge place but
- 14:48I'm just not into antiques like my sister is but we're in there
- 14:52and like these were like, you know she's used to like
- 14:55thrifting where she'll find like really good finds in different
- 14:57places that are like really cheap antique stores are like
- 15:01expensive and so we're walking through.
- 15:04Yeah. We're walking through and like
- 15:06I'm just like looking for something to buy, not because I
- 15:09like need anything or really want anything.
- 15:11I'm just like I feel like I need to buy something.
- 15:13So I found this like the thing that could be used is like a
- 15:16vase and it was really cute, but it was like, have you seen it's
- 15:19kind of like a trendy thing right now, those like white and
- 15:22it's like a white vase or you know, bowl or something like
- 15:26that has like the blue flowers on it and they look kind of
- 15:29antiquey, but they're like really pretty.
- 15:31Have you seen them? Probably, Yeah, Yeah, I feel
- 15:33like if you. Knew I literally just want to
- 15:35like Google it and see if I can show you a picture but.
- 15:40I'm going to type in. White vase or I'm going to type
- 15:43in antique white vase. I know there's a name for it.
- 15:50So if someone's on here, they might be like it's this, it's
- 15:53this with flowers, with blue flowers is really what it is.
- 16:01This is very. Great content for this is very.
- 16:04Important stuff right now, but you know how my mind is.
- 16:08So they kind of look like, Oh my gosh, now it's like pulling up a
- 16:13spinner thing. Wouldn't you want?
- 16:14No, I don't want. Have you ever seen, like those
- 16:16kinds of looks? OK.
- 16:18Yeah, the the far one to the left, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:20So. I was like, oh, I'll get
- 16:23something like this and like I've always been putting fresh
- 16:25flowers and things, but I'm also like, it literally doesn't match
- 16:28my vibe at all. Like, where am I going to put
- 16:29it? Like I, I don't like all of my
- 16:32stuff's kind of like warm or like a, you know, very neutral
- 16:36vase with like brighter flowers. And I'm just thinking, like, I
- 16:38need to just buy this just to buy it.
- 16:42Yeah. So I'm like, carrying it around
- 16:44and like, walking with this face.
- 16:45And finally, I'm like, Chris, I don't need this.
- 16:47She goes, Kate, you don't have to buy something.
- 16:50And I'm like, oh, OK. And then I didn't realize that I
- 16:54just set it down somewhere, which I didn't know.
- 16:57I set it down in someone else's booth.
- 17:00OK so that's what I was about to do like 5 times and Bobby takes
- 17:03it back to the room. So I didn't know about the booth
- 17:06situation until my sister saw me do that.
- 17:08Or no she didn't see me do it because other she totally would
- 17:10have had me put it back, told her.
- 17:12Afterwards, yeah. I only did it to one thing and I
- 17:17I feel bad we have a. System where it links to
- 17:20someone's name I. Mean, it's not like they walk
- 17:23in. You walk in and there's a sign
- 17:24that says everything you touch make sure you put back into the
- 17:27original booth. Yeah, that's.
- 17:29Their fault for sure. For sure.
- 17:31Well, I found a little basket at this other place.
- 17:33It was like a thrift store antique, but they had it was
- 17:36insane how many things was in this area and it went back so
- 17:40far. Couldn't believe it was in this
- 17:41building. And we found like 10 little
- 17:44small baskets and I want it if I'm going to buy one there
- 17:48instead of just going on Amazon, I want it to be like handmade.
- 17:50That'd be nice handmade in Ohio. No way.
- 17:55And then I found two big kitchen bowls not in.
- 17:57Ohio, out of all places. Wow, so it was a great day.
- 18:03And then the one thing that I do find it's a little exhausting,
- 18:06like when you're really trying to look for things like, 'cause
- 18:10I, this is probably what. It's a sport, yes.
- 18:13Like, 'cause if you find stuff and what if they're worth more,
- 18:16I'll do nothing with that. Some people might like a bowl.
- 18:19I got for two of them. This is so boring for people.
- 18:24Maybe someone's into bowls in the kitchen, but there's this or
- 18:26in the. Thrifting, yeah.
- 18:28Yeah, yeah, it's very exciting. But Fire King, have you ever
- 18:31heard of that? It's like old kind of pottery.
- 18:33Yeah. Yeah, it sounds familiar.
- 18:36I know. It really does.
- 18:37I think so. Fire King though your.
- 18:39Face was like EW. No, no, it was my face didn't
- 18:43catch up with my thoughts because no, there's no EO behind
- 18:45that. Well, my.
- 18:46Mother-in-law has like a whole set of them and they're this
- 18:48really pretty green jade color and so I've always been like
- 18:51looking out for them. What?
- 18:53I don't know that I know this. Then I was thinking more like
- 18:55Terra cotta, but that's not it. Oh.
- 18:57No, you should look it up. It's well, to me it's like, I
- 19:00don't know, it's like old, but really cool.
- 19:02Oh yeah. So I found these two big bowls
- 19:04that I thought maybe these are, they weren't Fire King, but they
- 19:07look kind of similar. And so and then I get back and I
- 19:10put in a ChatGPT, is this worth more than I paid for the big 1?
- 19:14Not so much. But then it was like, not so
- 19:16much. But if there's a number
- 19:18underneath instead of the name of who made it, there could be
- 19:22something there. I go to look at the one that's
- 19:24slightly smaller, flip it over a 13.
- 19:27So I put it in and I'm like, what is OK?
- 19:29Yeah, I got one. I paid 25 I think or something.
- 19:34It could be worth 150. I'm gonna keep it for myself.
- 19:38You're. Gonna keep it for sure, but it's
- 19:39just knowing that you have something of such high value.
- 19:41Exactly. That makes it.
- 19:43Special Yes. What are you gonna do with these
- 19:44things? Just put them in the closet.
- 19:50Maybe it's time. Did you ever end up getting rid
- 19:52of rid of some of your mugs? Yes, Bobby was upset with me, by
- 19:56the way. Yeah.
- 19:56What do you mean I was upset with you?
- 19:58Well. Because one of them it was.
- 20:01Just a white mug from West Elm? Ask.
- 20:03Him No, because if I ask. Is it the one that?
- 20:06Has the little Ridge around the thing.
- 20:08Yeah, I. Loved that one.
- 20:10OK, well, I. Threw it away because it's just
- 20:12taking you throw. These away I didn't see we don't
- 20:15I do put. It on Facebook marketplate.
- 20:17No, don't you? That video?
- 20:19What? Donate.
- 20:20Them I should have done that yeah.
- 20:21So we just like because we had way too many as well.
- 20:24So we just like did a pot well, and I also, I think I told you I
- 20:26went through a bunch of closets. Yeah.
- 20:29Yeah, so. We had like tell me that.
- 20:30Oh. Geez, yeah, I went through a
- 20:32bunch of closets when we had a couple of days off still prior
- 20:35to when we started back up of just being like, why do we have
- 20:39so much clutter in here? I think I felt, I felt excited
- 20:42after like purging your your stuff that I was like, I need to
- 20:46purge. I was thinking it was the
- 20:50opposite, like, you know, I'm cluttery and you're like, I
- 20:52cannot do this. It's like followed me to
- 20:55Wisconsin. No, it was just more of like AI
- 20:58think I was in the kind of that spring I need to get things out
- 21:01of here type of vibe I do. That anytime I watch, anytime I
- 21:05want to really clean, it's either probably based on my
- 21:07cycle. I really think this, I don't
- 21:09know based off fact, it's just a feeling.
- 21:11Or I go and I watch the home edit show on Netflix.
- 21:14I told you about that. I can't help but want to clean
- 21:18and declutter. Can I ask you a question?
- 21:21So I had ChatGPT pull some questions.
- 21:26KKK. Oh my gosh.
- 21:27Never say that again out loud. Did you just hear what I just
- 21:30said? Oh my God, I think that's.
- 21:33Based on context, I don't think like totally, but like a three
- 21:36times. It's like, whoa, how dare.
- 21:39You I just don't, I just don't feel like it's good energy.
- 21:41I don't think I said anything where it's like, I'm not looking
- 21:44like I don't think I offended anyone.
- 21:45But, you know, it's like you don't want to break a mirror
- 21:48even though you're probably not going to get bad luck, but you
- 21:50don't want to get bad luck for seven years.
- 21:51Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's how it's just like
- 21:53in your head because you've heard it once or 1000 times.
- 21:56Yeah, Yep. OK.
- 21:57What's your question? OK, let's see.
- 22:02Have you ever had a moment in your business when you realized,
- 22:05I don't think I want to do this the same way anymore?
- 22:09Oh yeah, probably a bazillion times.
- 22:15That's the same way because you evolve, you learn new things,
- 22:18you do things differently. That kind of stuff yeah, that's
- 22:21kind of like a that's always going to happen.
- 22:23I think when I run into stuff like I can't think of anything
- 22:26that that's really, really big, they're like, I don't want to do
- 22:29it this way anymore. Like there's certain things I'm
- 22:31just like, I'm not going to do offer this anymore or I'm not
- 22:33going to, you know, those kinds of things obviously have come
- 22:36up. I, I think this is what you and
- 22:40I have also talked about. It's like I am so uptight about
- 22:44certain things that like, even if I was like, I'm going to just
- 22:47like not care. I, I know I can't do it.
- 22:50Like I even said, I'm like, you know what after, because your
- 22:53dogs were great in the kennels and stuff, but like, I think I'm
- 22:56going to try just like putting them in, taking their stuff off,
- 22:58closing the door and walking away.
- 23:00Oh. You mean like trained dogs are
- 23:01when they're back for board? Just like, you know, see how
- 23:06that feels? I can't do it, Bethany.
- 23:09Why? Because then what happens is
- 23:13when I come in, I can I can do that and leave and it's fine.
- 23:17When I come in, then they're all standing and staring at me.
- 23:22Yes. I cannot have that.
- 23:25OK. For for my.
- 23:26Mental health, it's not even that I'm like, I care about the
- 23:29dog standing. I don't like the like that vibe.
- 23:33It's like what about me? When am I next?
- 23:36And it's like, Oh, you have no reason to be even thinking that
- 23:39right now because you just had a huge day or whatever.
- 23:41So like I go into like spiraling.
- 23:43So that's one thing that I would say that I like have a reason
- 23:46have been thinking about like let me just try this.
- 23:49It quickly was like a no go for me.
- 23:51I wonder. Because you have more dogs, you
- 23:53work in that area, yes. It has to be that, yeah, because
- 23:57I don't think that it would. And that's the thing.
- 23:58It's like how you were saying with that one dog when you're in
- 24:02your gym and you're like, I, I cannot have the whining while
- 24:07I'm doing like this. It's like if I just want to walk
- 24:09in there, because sometimes I'll just walk in there and like we,
- 24:12you know, this is the example honestly that made me think I
- 24:15can't do this. I Sunday or something.
- 24:18I'm like, OK, I need to do our dog's nails, but I keep the
- 24:20Dremel down in the kennel room. So I just went down there just
- 24:24to go get the Dremel. They and they had all just
- 24:26gotten long walks in a social like three of them stand up and
- 24:31are staring at me like and I'm just walking through and I don't
- 24:34know why I can't just like look away and ignore it.
- 24:37I can't I can't do it. So I'm like is this a toxic
- 24:39trait of me or what? But.
- 24:43That is so interesting though, because for me I there wasn't
- 24:47and so I don't know if people know what we're talking about.
- 24:49So if I go into my kennel room, I, I don't care if they're
- 24:53laying down. I don't want them like busting
- 24:54out of the kennel or anything, but I don't ask them to lay
- 24:57down, that kind of thing. And then I leave and then I come
- 25:00back in whatever. But I'm not working in my kennel
- 25:02room. It's smaller.
- 25:03It's really just where they're in their kennels.
- 25:06So but a while ago, I don't know how many years ago this was, but
- 25:11I think I saw you or another trainer like doing that where
- 25:14the dog is always in a down when they're in their kennel.
- 25:16And I was like, oh, that's great.
- 25:17I do love that. So I started really trying that
- 25:20and then I started to think, I think it was after I was trying
- 25:22with one or two dogs I was working with and that it was it
- 25:26was doing what is not having them do that is making you feel?
- 25:30It was the opposite for me. It was making me feel on edge,
- 25:33like I would felt like it was stressing me out.
- 25:35And I was like, I don't think an owner is going to do this.
- 25:37So that's so interesting. Yeah.
- 25:38Yeah, like I don't care. Well, honestly, that's a lie.
- 25:41I just, I just blatantly lied. I was going to say I don't care
- 25:43if I like check the cameras and they're standing.
- 25:46I, I don't if it's like they're standing up and having water or
- 25:48readjusting, it's the like dogs that I know are going to go home
- 25:53and like cry in the kennel and be pushy and I'll like check and
- 25:57you're standing just because I just walked out.
- 25:59Like I'm like, why am I even checking the camera?
- 26:01Like, why am I doing that to myself?
- 26:02But like when we had Georgia the Great Dane in this last crew, I
- 26:07had to check the cameras with her because she was, you know,
- 26:11and stuff here and there. So when I was starting to like,
- 26:13OK, taking your E collar off of her or not using the bark
- 26:16collar, I was just looking and she would be quiet but standing.
- 26:19And I'm like, this is no, I need to just like not check the
- 26:24camera because this is driving me nuts.
- 26:26But one thing I will say that like I've gotten way more, this
- 26:30has been years of getting more relaxed on this.
- 26:33It's like, I obviously like love teaching and same with you like
- 26:36a really, you know, structured heel and having that job to do.
- 26:40But I'm just way less like depends on the dog, but I just,
- 26:46I, it doesn't need to be as perfect as I used to focus on.
- 26:50And I think it's just 'cause sometimes I would also see like,
- 26:54you know, some dogs just can handle do looking around more.
- 27:00Like I love walking like Birdie and Johnny where they're like
- 27:02both walking so beautifully, but like they'll be a little ahead
- 27:06or a little behind. So I've definitely gotten more
- 27:10like, you know, if this dog can handle being a little bit more
- 27:13like loosey goosey, I'm cool with that.
- 27:15Where I definitely probably was more like, Nope.
- 27:18Like if I'm saying heal, it needs to be like the perfect
- 27:20heal. Yeah, yeah.
- 27:21Yeah, well, and I I feel like I'm I'm like that with creative
- 27:24things. I think where I'm not like that
- 27:26with training stuff. I wish it was more like that, to
- 27:28be honest. I think it's kind of like the
- 27:30I've always wished that I was like more type A like more like
- 27:34because I feel like when I hear type AI think productive,
- 27:37getting all the things done, where I get things done, but
- 27:40it's kind of fluid. That's where we.
- 27:43Like are backwards or not backwards, but just flip flop.
- 27:45It's like I am. I'm actually genuinely not type
- 27:48A like, OK, I would guess I wouldn't technically.
- 27:51I'm definitely not like, you know, when do you ever see those
- 27:53reels? When it's like your type B
- 27:55friend pulls up like and then it's like they're getting out
- 27:58and it's like they've got their water bottle, they've got their,
- 28:01you know, music playing still, they act forget to put their car
- 28:04in park. Like I'm not quite like that.
- 28:06Like Casey definitely would be considered like my type B
- 28:08friend, but I'm definitely not like type AI haven't.
- 28:12Ever met a type A person? Steph's Type A and like she is
- 28:16so, and like, it's her attention to detail.
- 28:20It's something where it's like, whoa, like that's like a skill.
- 28:23It probably drives her nuts sometimes cuz she's like, I am
- 28:25so like, oh, I have a certain way that I like things.
- 28:28I would say I am definitely Type A when it comes to kind of like
- 28:30the training stuff. But when it comes to the
- 28:32creative stuff, no, I'm like, that looks good.
- 28:35Put it out like good enough, yeah.
- 28:38We're I am the opposite, yes. Yeah, like I think.
- 28:41You said something and it wasn't bad or anything, it was more
- 28:44like an observation. It's just interesting talking
- 28:47with you about training stuff where when I sent home the
- 28:50Golden early, and I don't know if you said it because of course
- 28:54you're supportive of whatever, but you didn't think you'd be
- 28:57able to do that like send home a dog early like that who's not
- 29:01like the most like cuz the golden.
- 29:04I could have dealt with it the next week and it would have been
- 29:06OK. Yeah.
- 29:07It wasn't like a dog that was going after me.
- 29:09And that's not what I totally live with, where you said you
- 29:12wouldn't be. You probably wouldn't do that.
- 29:14Yeah, I don't. Think so, yeah.
- 29:15Where I like that with creative stuff, I will work on something
- 29:18and come back to it, work on it, come back to it.
- 29:20I overthink it so much because that is how I feel about
- 29:24creative stuff, yeah. Yeah, it's interesting.
- 29:27I know. Have you dabbled at all with is
- 29:30it Claude or Cloud? Yes.
- 29:33Bobby has really been into it for his job as an engineer.
- 29:36OK, And then I saw a photographer girl who remember
- 29:40when I was going on those walks with people.
- 29:42Yeah, and. It was like women entrepreneurs.
- 29:46Yeah, like she working. Walk type thing, Yeah.
- 29:48And so she was talking about it and mentioning Claude, and I was
- 29:52like, what is Claude? I didn't hear anything about it.
- 29:54It was a couple weeks ago and then she got me really
- 29:57interested and it's kind of, it's a little more overwhelming
- 29:59to me than ChatGPT, but yeah, I literally.
- 30:02Just downloaded it yesterday because I saw someone else
- 30:04talking about it and I think I read something about like it can
- 30:06feel a little bit more like laid back type vibes versus, you
- 30:11know, it's personal or like, yeah, I guess it's like a lot of
- 30:14like content creators are finding that we used.
- 30:18You were using ChatGPT kind of when it was like, it wasn't new,
- 30:23but it was like new to a lot of people.
- 30:24Like the a lot of people hadn't even like I hadn't even like
- 30:27heard of it yet. So then when you mentioned it, I
- 30:31started diving into it and now it's like so, so, so great.
- 30:35But like, it's one of those things where again, you have to
- 30:37have it so dialed in to not sound like everyone's posts are
- 30:42like, so I was like, oh, maybe I'll like diversify and start
- 30:45training this one. I have not done any training.
- 30:46So I just downloaded it yesterday and some of the I'm
- 30:48like, I'm going to ask it some questions for the podcast.
- 30:51And I just kept telling her, like, no, this is not what I'm
- 30:54looking for. It's like the first round of
- 30:56questions it gave me, which maybe you'll like it, I don't
- 30:58know. But I, I did not well, at first
- 31:01I was like, can you not ask me anything about dog training?
- 31:04But this is this is one of them. I would never speak like this.
- 31:10We both chose this career which, let's be honest, most don't
- 31:15fully understand. I was.
- 31:17Talking for you as if like it's like telling.
- 31:19Me that I should ask this question.
- 31:21OK, what's the this is to you? What's the most unhinged thing a
- 31:24client has ever said to you that had you?
- 31:27Just what said to you that you had to just smile through?
- 31:33First off? You would never smile through
- 31:35though. Oh well.
- 31:36I did, you know what mine is but it was like 7 years ago.
- 31:39Well, and that's like, what do you respond to it?
- 31:41Have we ever talked about that on here?
- 31:43Talk about it all the time and trainer in you.
- 31:46I guess not. So you want me to tell it real
- 31:49quick. So it was an owner who so I mean
- 31:52we're E collar trainers. So I it was a lady who I don't
- 31:58know a friend recommended her and in her e-mail to me, she I
- 32:03responded to her contact form. Her dog has anxiety and I was
- 32:06like, I responded, I'm not the right fit.
- 32:09I can recommend some other trainers.
- 32:11And she was snarky and her reply back to me, it was something
- 32:16like, I thought you were supposed to be the best, not the
- 32:20best. Or it was something that was
- 32:21like saying. Something like that.
- 32:23I thought you were supposed to be 1.
- 32:24Of the best trainers and so that even to me you can't help but
- 32:27read it that way. Belittling.
- 32:29Yes, yes. And so, yeah, at that time I was
- 32:32like, well, I don't like how she responded, but I'll give her the
- 32:35benefit of the doubt because she asked if we could get on a phone
- 32:39call. So I was like, sure, let's get
- 32:40on a phone call. And she was so nice on the phone
- 32:44call. It was bizarre.
- 32:45Well, not bizarre, but I was expecting different.
- 32:47So I decided on the phone call. OK, yeah, let's try.
- 32:51I'll work with your dog. So on drop off day she pulls up
- 32:56and the first she doesn't say even say hi to me, which is
- 32:59that's wild. In itself so.
- 33:01Weird like everyone is so nice when they drop off their dog.
- 33:03Like I had a couple. People get out of the car and I
- 33:05can tell it's from nerves and they don't say hi and they
- 33:07don't, I don't think they mean to make sure I get their stuff
- 33:10out. And I'm like hi, like, no, Nope,
- 33:13just hold off for a second. We'll just chat for a bit.
- 33:15But like, yeah, this one was just like rude.
- 33:17Yeah, so. She just gets out of the car and
- 33:20the first thing she asked me is how many hours a day is he going
- 33:23to be in the kennel? And to me, that's such a trust
- 33:26thing. And with the board and train,
- 33:28I'm not working with 25 dogs at a time.
- 33:30This is not like a chain. It's a very personal thing with
- 33:34the owner and trainer. So right away I'm like, she
- 33:37doesn't trust me, there's no way this is going to work.
- 33:39So I said, well, I don't know exactly how many hours a day
- 33:43your dog is going to be in the kennel.
- 33:46I say it really nice. And I was like, you just need to
- 33:48trust me. Or I think I asked, like, do you
- 33:50trust me or you just need to trust me?
- 33:52And she was like, oh, you foolish girl.
- 33:54And she, like, laughed and then went back to the car to get her
- 33:57dog. And I was like, what the fuck
- 33:58just happened? Like, OK, and she's from the
- 34:02north, like, New York. And I was like, well, maybe this
- 34:04is a northern thing. I don't know.
- 34:06And so I was, like, constantly trying.
- 34:08She said it two more times, I think two more about something
- 34:12else I said. And at the time Bobby had just
- 34:14quit his job to work with me. And so I felt a little pressure
- 34:19to like not turn away the money really, or the chance to no,
- 34:24it's about the money really at that point.
- 34:26So. So I ignore all the signs and
- 34:29then, well, that's the whole thing.
- 34:31But then that's what you smiled. Through, Yeah.
- 34:34That's the thing I smiled through.
- 34:35And then I ended up sending her dog home early.
- 34:38She showed up 3 hours before she was supposed to and texted me,
- 34:42which my phone is on silent. And she's like, I'm sitting, I'm
- 34:44sitting outside of my car. Can I come get him at like 4 AM,
- 34:474:00 AM, whatever. Yeah, super early.
- 34:49She was supposed to come at 7:30.
- 34:51Stupid. Early so it's so weird.
- 34:54So yeah, I just ignored all the signs.
- 34:55So that was the first one where I was like, OK, I've never seen
- 34:59that again. Yeah, something that I'll smile
- 35:01through is like if during a go home session or something like
- 35:05that, and it's like a couple, if they are kind of like, I don't
- 35:11know, yeah. Being whatever towards each
- 35:14other, it's like marriage counseling.
- 35:15There's certain things I'll step in on, but other things I'm
- 35:17like, this is not my place. Like, yeah, so I'll just kind of
- 35:19like wait until they're done having their little moment and
- 35:22I'm like, all right, back to this.
- 35:25So those are moments I'll definitely I'm like, I'm like, I
- 35:28don't like if you guys are having a disagreement on how we
- 35:31implement something, I'll jump in like and I'll be like, OK,
- 35:34this is what I would do if the dog was in my care.
- 35:37But if it's anything personal, I'm like, not my place.
- 35:40Like I can't help you guys if that's.
- 35:43Well, there was another time. Did I ever tell you when I
- 35:45again, this was like my first or second year training.
- 35:48Where I went for a follow up visit, it was these two little
- 35:51Boston Terriers who I worked with, who I loved and it was, I
- 35:57don't know how long after the board and train, but they were
- 36:00like, can you come over the wife or she was fiance at the time.
- 36:04I was like sure came over and I'm literally like standing in
- 36:08their apartment where the boyfriend is like I'm not on
- 36:11board with this E caller. I don't want to use it anymore,
- 36:15and I'm literally saying they're like, OK, what do you want me to
- 36:17do? Like so I didn't actually didn't
- 36:20stop trained. On it like.
- 36:22I was like, what are we doing here?
- 36:23Like just by the time I felt like that was my responsibility
- 36:27to like make sure they were OK. And so I remember I was getting
- 36:31because there is a part of me that gets very defensive and
- 36:36where I just want to like go into fight mode.
- 36:38Yeah. And so I was getting aggravated
- 36:40because I was. And I started saying something
- 36:42where I was like, why? Why I wouldn't have maybe worked
- 36:45with your DOMS if you felt like this.
- 36:47Like why are you telling me it's after?
- 36:48Yeah, it was very weird where like when I get into that mode,
- 36:51I'm like kind of shaky and like a little bit like it's because.
- 36:53Your adrenaline's just pumping, yes?
- 36:55Yeah, that was the other thing. You already said yours.
- 37:00I have a question. That's not dog training.
- 37:02I remember from another time it gave it to me.
- 37:05What is a moment in our friendship that stands out to
- 37:07you? My gosh, I have one you want.
- 37:11Me to say mine. Yeah, I have a time to think
- 37:13about it. It's not really fair.
- 37:15When we were in Rhode Island and I had my little panic attack and
- 37:20you took me outside and we went and sat on a bench and you were
- 37:23just super supportive and sweet. So I think I start crying.
- 37:26I don't remember, but yeah, you did.
- 37:27I was really panicked. And you sat on the bench with me
- 37:30and that was so nice. Well, see, I was going to say
- 37:33something that's not as sentimental and nice, but like I
- 37:36think it also. Yeah, but.
- 37:38It's like it's such a testament to your character.
- 37:41What I'm going to say is I remember the first time I came
- 37:43to visit Florida, like you were so down for I wanted to go find
- 37:50alligators and like to you, you're like genuinely probably
- 37:54not that interested in doing that cause like never had
- 37:56anyone. Ask me to go find alligators,
- 37:57Probably, yeah. And you were like, we're going
- 37:59to find alligators. We did every kind of thing to
- 38:03find an alligator that we could do.
- 38:04Like we took the van and that like bumpy road and found the
- 38:08biggest alligators ever. And then you're like, let's go
- 38:12to Wakaiva. Then we went and did that.
- 38:14Like I was like, Oh my gosh, like this is so nice.
- 38:17Like I just really wanted to see an alligator, like in real,
- 38:23excuse me, in real life. That's not like a petting zoo or
- 38:26something. I think you go pet an alligator.
- 38:28But you know how there's like signs on your way.
- 38:29I don't even know if you guys have noticed this, but there's
- 38:31signs on your way into Florida. That's like, stop here.
- 38:33Live baby. Alligators.
- 38:35Their land. Is one place, yeah.
- 38:36I don't. Want to do that?
- 38:38Yeah, yeah, that makes me sad. So I'm like, I want to find them
- 38:40out where they're like in their environment and.
- 38:44Giant one, I remember you like I.
- 38:47Lost. I was having a hell of a body
- 38:49experience. And took a picture.
- 38:51You're like, I gotta send this to my dad.
- 38:53He's gonna freak out. Yeah, yes.
- 38:55Yeah, because I mean, growing up, my dad and I watched
- 38:58Crocodile Hunter like crazy, like we were.
- 39:01So I've always been into like cracks and even those are
- 39:04alligators. But yeah, I remember being like,
- 39:08do you guys, like, have a place where we could, like, go see
- 39:10them and you're like, Bobby, where to where can we go find
- 39:13alligators? Like, right away I was like, Oh
- 39:16my God, that's someone that like, you know, 'cause it's
- 39:19like, you probably are not like on a Tuesday.
- 39:22Let's go look for alligators. Oh no.
- 39:24Well, no, definitely not. But like, I love wild animals
- 39:27and you. Also like totally live off of
- 39:31other people's like responses to things or like, so when I was
- 39:37freaking out with the Gator, you're freaking out extra with
- 39:39me. Oh my gosh, that's like.
- 39:42When someone texts me and it's not like with at least one
- 39:46exclamation point or one emoji. Yeah.
- 39:48I'm like, what about. Yeah, So I chased that.
- 39:51That's so fun. No, but I like when Bobby.
- 39:54Well, in high school, when I went to Yellowstone with my
- 39:57family, one of my best experiences in my entire life
- 40:01because you are constantly, like, looking for animals.
- 40:04And then, like, you see a long line and it's like the
- 40:06adrenaline of it. And you see like a wild animal
- 40:09in the wild. It's just.
- 40:11Even if it's just like you're in something like that and you just
- 40:15see like a normal deer, You're like, look, a deer.
- 40:17It's like for us, we see deer all of the time.
- 40:21Yeah. Oh.
- 40:21Yeah, yeah, it's still just the. Experience of like being and
- 40:24it's like their deer, their kind of animal like.
- 40:27Well, it's like that one time when we actually saw a Gray wolf
- 40:31like 25 feet from our van. That's and that's when I
- 40:34realized, Oh my God, like we are surrounded by wild animals.
- 40:38Like what? It's just so crazy.
- 40:41Like, didn't you? Have some of your dogs out for a
- 40:43potty break, Louis was. Off leash, yeah, yeah, that was
- 40:47probably. The best dog to have off leash
- 40:50can. You imagine if, if we had all
- 40:51four of our dogs, Sadie, at the time, you would have had a off.
- 40:55It would have. Been a totally different story.
- 40:56It would have been. It would have been bad.
- 40:59They would have. Chased the wolf?
- 41:00Yes. Into wolf territory.
- 41:02Can you imagine? Oh my.
- 41:03Gosh, OK. If it was this pack, though,
- 41:05there's no way Johnny would leave Johnny.
- 41:08I'm staying back with mom like. We tell you how when we went
- 41:11over to the boomer's house and Johnny was with us in the
- 41:14backyard. Oh, we told you and he.
- 41:15Yeah, we were. There, inside.
- 41:17Oh yes, you were here. He's soaked.
- 41:21Five houses over on the lake and we were like Beanie and he saw
- 41:25us and ran back to us. So it was like he was just
- 41:27trying to find us. Like where do they go?
- 41:28Oh. My God, no.
- 41:31That is so him. OK.
- 41:34Did you have any others? Yeah.
- 41:36Sure, it gave me some. Wait, Yeah, like how about non
- 41:44dog training stuff? Oh and by the way with Claude
- 41:48one thing I did learn is you can export your PD like APDF of your
- 41:53conversations from ChatGPT over a lot so it knows you better.
- 41:58That's nice that's I have one. If you had to describe me using
- 42:02only one. Well, do you watch much much
- 42:04reality TV? Yeah.
- 42:07OK. Real Housewives using.
- 42:09Me. Or if you had to describe me
- 42:11using only a reality TV character, who would you pick
- 42:15and why? Oh my gosh, I just burnt.
- 42:18I have. Mine for you what Prue Prue
- 42:21leaf? Look at this.
- 42:23Great. Sugar.
- 42:24Exactly. Yeah.
- 42:26But also Prue is like sneaky sassy, which you for sure can be
- 42:32where like Prue's the one where it's like you know, you're going
- 42:34through the judging and it's like she's always the nice one,
- 42:39but then once in a while she's like.
- 42:41Not your best work. Literally like that is totally
- 42:45Bethany I always. Think I need to start preparing,
- 42:48I need to start on my baking skills because I've been
- 42:50watching Great British Bake Off Totally honest nonstop the last
- 42:53like 2 days. Just like whenever I have the TV
- 42:55on, that's it. Good, because I made some brown
- 42:57butter cookies. So when we eat our ice cream
- 42:59with brown butter cookie, we have to be watching it,
- 43:02obviously, right not to. And so when I start thinking
- 43:04like, oh, my God, I should really prepare.
- 43:06Like if they come to America and they have like, an American one,
- 43:09which wouldn't be as good. But then I'm like, because I
- 43:12know what I would do in the episodes, every time Paul comes
- 43:16to the thing, I would just go ahead and put my hand out.
- 43:18Yeah. Because.
- 43:20Because. I can't believe no one does that
- 43:22like I would just maybe there's rules.
- 43:25Oh, that could be. That would be smart.
- 43:27Yeah, they're probably like, OK, like, yeah, you know, like you
- 43:31guys want this or that, but like, you can't be trying to
- 43:34like, lead the show type of thing.
- 43:36Oh yeah, I don't know. Who knows, because.
- 43:38That's my high school personality.
- 43:40I would just. Someone every single time
- 43:42putting their hand out and I love that.
- 43:44OK, that's enough, Charlie. You can't keep putting your hand
- 43:46out. Yeah, OK, I can't.
- 43:48I'm not. I'm terrible on the spot stuff
- 43:50because I'm thinking of the housewives.
- 43:52I watch all the housewives. See I.
- 43:53Wouldn't. Honestly, there's very few I
- 43:55wouldn't even know. Yeah, see, it's not the same.
- 43:58I'm not like Theresa. Judice, am I?
- 44:00No. No, she's awful.
- 44:02I mean, which is very fun to watch though, yeah.
- 44:05She's great TV, yeah. What's something about your life
- 44:08right now that looks really good on the outside but feels
- 44:10different on the inside? Oh.
- 44:13My gosh, I do love. A deep question, I gotta say,
- 44:15but yeah, I mean. We left him on a Cliff note of
- 44:17mirror. That's honestly I shouldn't even
- 44:19say dark or anything. Like it's just no like.
- 44:22Bobby was asking that Are you going to pick up on what, Kate?
- 44:24He listened to the whole episode.
- 44:25Are you going to pick up on that?
- 44:27Yeah, no. I would just say that it's just
- 44:29like unknowns of like, you know, trajectory of life.
- 44:34And I think that that's the type of stuff that I don't even want
- 44:37to say. Like I don't want to put words
- 44:39on it because I truly feel like our words have value.
- 44:42I don't want to say like it feels heavy or anything like
- 44:43that because that's not the right way to describe it, but I
- 44:47just feel like, yeah, I feel like I probably give off a vibe
- 44:51like in my stories and stuff like that, that I like have it
- 44:53all together. I know what my next steps are
- 44:55for everything. And I do feel like that from
- 44:57like a business perspective, but I don't feel like that from a
- 45:00personal perspective, yeah. Yeah, OK.
- 45:03It feels like conflicting or like just something you're
- 45:06working through. And that's also, that's one
- 45:07thing too, Like I always used to.
- 45:10And even when I'm talking about Instagram as a highlight reel,
- 45:14it's like you don't have to share everything.
- 45:15Like, and I know sometimes I do just from a space of like, it's
- 45:19almost like a desperation of like wanting to be who I am
- 45:24authentically and not have to hide pieces of myself.
- 45:27I don't share everything like yesterday.
- 45:29And this is not, this is not deep at all, but like I was out
- 45:33there holding Betty, my chicken and I had to soak her butt in
- 45:38water because she had a big clump of poop on her butt.
- 45:41I was like, no one's going to know I did this.
- 45:44This is like something that I'm totally like really going to
- 45:48share. That's not really, I think like
- 45:53I guess right now I'm and we talked about it a little bit
- 45:56last time, but there's a little bit of guilt in me for how happy
- 46:00I am not having training dogs right now.
- 46:03So it was, it's like, I don't know.
- 46:07And I'm chasing other stuff that's still dog training
- 46:10related, but I really love how my life looks and feels without
- 46:14and two boarding dogs just went home.
- 46:16So I like how that feels. And so part of me is like, and I
- 46:21don't know. So that's the part that I don't
- 46:25really share, I guess. And it feels just weird.
- 46:27And it also is, I love it how it feels and working on creative
- 46:32stuff. I know, you know, it's like one
- 46:34of those. Things too where, you know, you
- 46:36see how people's businesses evolve and it's like can be
- 46:39totally different scales, but you know, certain people are,
- 46:41it's like, oh, if they're like the CEO of the company or
- 46:43something, it's like they, they end up not doing certain parts
- 46:47of their business that they might have done when they were,
- 46:50you know, first starting and stuff like that.
- 46:52And that can shift and look different and like I feel like
- 46:55that's totally fine. Oh my gosh, I just burped like
- 47:03this. Definitely picks that up.
- 47:04Oh my God, it wasn't. That loud did you wouldn't hear
- 47:07her burp? It was.
- 47:08Gonna be so much, it's gonna be like 40. 6 minutes and I'm gonna
- 47:11go listen for the burp. Yeah, but I guess part of me
- 47:16also thinks about it's probably like you with it's totally
- 47:19different, but a similar thought, maybe similar thought
- 47:22process. I'm just questioning things and
- 47:24like, because I think about the trainer in you, which I love so
- 47:27much and I'm like, well, not that I don't I'm not ever going
- 47:30to train dogs again, but it's like someone who you have worked
- 47:36with who lives in Florida and owner and she reached out about
- 47:39the word and train and I was like, oh, great.
- 47:41I would love to hop on a call or whatever, talk things through.
- 47:44That's really exciting. If you could fill out my contact
- 47:46form first. That was three days ago.
- 47:48So whenever someone does not fill it out to me, that's either
- 47:51could be pricing, could just be second guessing.
- 47:55I and my Spidey senses are almost always right about this.
- 47:58If someone doesn't fill it out right away after we've talked or
- 48:00something, just something going on that it might not be like the
- 48:05top priority. And Bethany, I don't know, last
- 48:09year would have been like, oh man, I should reach back out and
- 48:11I maybe should. But right now I'm like, well, I
- 48:15only want to work with owners who are super excited, who don't
- 48:18have a separation anxiety dog like, so it's more particular.
- 48:23But I also think about the trainer in you where I'm like,
- 48:26well, what if in August I've trained 2 dogs and it's like, I
- 48:30don't know. I, I really do want to be known
- 48:34more known more for like the creative stuff.
- 48:38That is where my thing is, because I think that's such a
- 48:40strength and something like you. Are.
- 48:42OK, Yeah, well, I feel. Like you're doing exactly, but
- 48:47it's also OK to be like questioning if you're doing
- 48:50things that's like almost what's the word?
- 48:55And like not, I'm trying to think of the way that I want to
- 48:57word it. It's like you're almost honoring
- 48:59yourself through the process. But then you kind of question
- 49:03like not just you in general, but like, or just not just you,
- 49:06but in general people do this of like, we kind of tend to steer
- 49:10ourselves away from what we feel is like right for ourselves
- 49:14because other pressures, societal pressures, you know,
- 49:20financial pressures and stuff like that.
- 49:23But it doesn't seem like you're following the pressures, which
- 49:27is a great thing, I know. I think it's always like, it's
- 49:31like what we talked about and I should never say this out loud
- 49:32because I feel like it's just inviting it in, but like the
- 49:35other shoe is going to drop. Like something I'm too happy
- 49:37right now. Like something bad is going to
- 49:39happen and it's just going to bring us back to, you know, like
- 49:42something that we have to mentally prepare for, you know,
- 49:47like with family and stuff or Bobby's parents are getting
- 49:49older, my mom is older, like so stuff like that.
- 49:53So I think also I don't ever, cuz like I have big goals that
- 49:57I'm working towards and some are financially whatever motivated.
- 50:02I don't ever want to be chasing something like that and not also
- 50:05be super grateful for. What's right here, right now?
- 50:08Yeah. Yeah, I don't really.
- 50:10Get that? Could be like that, yeah, yeah.
- 50:12Awesome. Those are some good questions.
- 50:14OK. Only other thing that I wanted
- 50:17to mention is which I meant to mention this when you had
- 50:20actually asked, which is funny that you asked like how our
- 50:23animals were and stuff. This is completely different
- 50:26than what we've been talking about right now is I think one
- 50:29of the biggest things that people they probably think about
- 50:32but don't realize like the weight of it of dog ownership
- 50:34right now is overall cost of things.
- 50:37I know that sounds so like duh, but when we first got roadie and
- 50:41like vet bills versus what things are now is insane.
- 50:46And even like training costs, like of course, like they're
- 50:48going to go up and things like that.
- 50:49So this is just my PSA that either, I think that's one of
- 50:52the biggest things that I'll also like, you know, people end
- 50:55up getting a dog and they're like, oh, the they'll glamorize
- 50:59the thought of having a dog and then so many dogs are ending up
- 51:02in shelters or whatever. And it's like how much like,
- 51:05yeah, of course dogs are expensive, like, duh.
- 51:08But there are certain things like even just our appointment
- 51:10yesterday, we were literally there for Bernie night, probably
- 51:15saw the actual people for 10 minutes of our entire
- 51:18appointment. The rest of it was me and her
- 51:20sitting in the room waiting for them to come back with the you
- 51:24know results if they were going to have any.
- 51:26They did 2 pokes on her side otherwise didn't nothing.
- 51:31They didn't touch her any other way $416.00 just to walk in
- 51:37there. And it's like I know that and
- 51:39like that's, you know, that's fine, but like that's a lot of
- 51:44money for something that's just. Let's try to figure something
- 51:47out. So just a look into pet
- 51:50insurance if that's something that you're like we do have pet
- 51:52insurance for birdie. So, you know, that helps or be
- 51:57very, very prepared for not just the annual vet visits and
- 52:02training and stuff like that, like.
- 52:04Yeah, yeah. Yeah, at the end of the day,
- 52:06it's like, holy moly, dogs are animals in general are so
- 52:10expensive. Oh yeah, like we took Theo last
- 52:14week to the vet to get his knee checked out.
- 52:15Yeah. And we are going to get surgery
- 52:18on his legs. So.
- 52:20But yeah, we just went in. I barely saw the doctor and he
- 52:23looked at his leg or whatever, $350.00 just to.
- 52:27Look at it well there. Was some they gave him like a
- 52:29pain Med, which is nice, but we know that it's going to be
- 52:32expensive to get his knee fixed. Yeah.
- 52:34Do they do? It there, do they have to send
- 52:36him? No.
- 52:36It's going to send him U University of Florida.
- 52:39I think we're going to do it through.
- 52:40That's where Bobby went. It's like 3 hours away, but they
- 52:44have like a student teaching hospital so it's actually a
- 52:47little less. But we have some friends who
- 52:49have used them and highly recommend them.
- 52:52Awesome. So that's going to be expensive,
- 52:53but that's one thing we were saying when we were sitting
- 52:56there with him in the room. I was like, man, this is the
- 52:59best way to think about not getting any extra dogs when
- 53:02you're at the vets office. Totally.
- 53:04Yeah, because we have 4. And the other day and after
- 53:07getting Johnny, I know how some people feel now or I always used
- 53:10to be like chasing the excitement of getting a new dog
- 53:13and their new personality and like whatever.
- 53:16And ever since Johnny, who I feel like is so perfect to me,
- 53:19he's like, you know, whatever, I don't want another dog because I
- 53:22feel like they won't be the same.
- 53:23They won't be as good or whatever.
- 53:25But when I was running with Louis the other day, I was
- 53:27thinking in my head, like Bobby has said this before, I'm like,
- 53:30Oh my God, we're going to need another German Shepherd to run
- 53:32with because obviously I've gone for this.
- 53:33I'm on a 15 minute run so far. I love running so much Now I
- 53:38want to become a hunter. Oh.
- 53:40My God. It was a great day out.
- 53:45I was like, we got to keep this going forever.
- 53:47I've ever run since. But you know so well, something
- 53:51else I was thinking about that, I almost texted you.
- 53:55We can do it for next time to come up with something that like
- 53:58really annoys you. I think you even mentioned that
- 54:00a long time ago. The list is endless, so.
- 54:03I have one that is kind of touchy, but like I got an e-mail
- 54:08and I need to respond back towards someone.
- 54:10I've done a virtual with a few of them and they're out in
- 54:14California and they're the topic in the e-mail was like they're
- 54:18reactive dog. They're in their 70s or 60s, I
- 54:21think pulled over the husband who was walking the dog.
- 54:24He's reactive and they brought the option of putting him down.
- 54:29And I immediately when I read that, I think I just get like, I
- 54:33don't know if it was triggered or just like holy, like what
- 54:36that is the option? Like I, so I think sometimes
- 54:42it's even like when I was thinking about with E collar
- 54:44training and I know so, so many people are highly against it.
- 54:49And it's like there's just so much that could be talked about
- 54:53this topic and it's way too broad.
- 54:55But a lot of people are so against a moment of discomfort
- 54:59from an E collar, but they will put out the option of putting a
- 55:03dog down. Like to me, I don't even
- 55:06understand that. I can't even even sort of like
- 55:10usually when people have different opinions, I try to
- 55:12take a step back and like, find a, like, try to understand where
- 55:17they could be coming from. Yeah.
- 55:18When you're talking to similar to a situation like this or like
- 55:22a dog in a shelter or something, it's like they would rather, you
- 55:27know, put the dog down then let a balance trainer help because
- 55:32you know, if they've had a trainer come in a purely
- 55:35positive or behaviorist and they're like, Oh no, they either
- 55:39just need to be like highly medicated or put the dog down.
- 55:42They would rather that and that's more humane to them than
- 55:46stopping a behavior of like jumping or arousal.
- 55:49It's I, I don't. Even know how to like and people
- 55:53yell. Abuse for the E collar it's.
- 55:57It's so annoying because I was starting to think about like one
- 56:02of my brain waves. Yes, hashtag brain waves, Yeah.
- 56:07Was about like the whole about like E collar training because I
- 56:11was getting so much shit on Facebook which I just have not
- 56:14posting anything over there now and I was like where does this
- 56:17like stem from? And then also with like dogs in
- 56:20shelters Like what is the part? I know other people are thinking
- 56:24about this but the post help after someone adopts a dog where
- 56:30it's very heavily for the most part food motivated.
- 56:35Purely positive anti E collar. Bring them.
- 56:38In make them part of your family immediately make them cozy,
- 56:42which I get that I can get them like make them feel, but like,
- 56:47we wouldn't be like immediately have them in your bed.
- 56:49I mean, you know, yeah. Like, I just feel like that
- 56:51piece is missing. And I, I think there's also so
- 56:55much work they would have to go into talking a shelter into
- 56:58being open to that, you know? Totally.
- 57:00And I know some can be 10, like some rescues can be a little bit
- 57:04more open to that. I know we're getting close to
- 57:06time, but quick story. Well, yeah, please.
- 57:09But I'd want to say it while it's fresh.
- 57:12And you made me think about it. So I got a call yesterday from
- 57:15someone. I could hear in their voice.
- 57:16They left a voicemail just being like, hi, Kate, like I got your
- 57:18information from blah, blah, blah.
- 57:20I just adopted a dog on Friday and I'm just trying to figure
- 57:23out like if he has like severe separation anxiety, like if
- 57:27there's anything you can do to help me.
- 57:29And I'm thinking like I'm hearing this guy's voice.
- 57:31I'm like this poor guy. Like he just got this dog on
- 57:34Friday. So I call him back and he's
- 57:37like, I, I told him right off the bat, I'm like, I'm, I'm
- 57:40probably not going to be telling you exactly what you want to
- 57:42hear. I'm like, I don't do any like
- 57:43private sessions. I'm like, you know, depending on
- 57:46what you're even considering, like I wouldn't have any
- 57:49availability for my board and training till blah, blah, blah.
- 57:51But I said, you know, I want to, you know, give you some things
- 57:55to think about. I said, I have my new dog guide.
- 57:57I do virtual coaching sessions. But I think I was the first
- 58:01person to say to him like, this is his first dog he's ever had.
- 58:06He like over and over and over again asked the shelter like, do
- 58:10you know if this dog has any sort of like separation anxiety
- 58:13or anything like that? Nope, Nope, Nope.
- 58:14Which again, how would they know?
- 58:15Like it's in a shelter. It's probably barking like all
- 58:18the other dogs. They wouldn't know that.
- 58:21And he brings home this dog and he's just like trying to RIP out
- 58:25of the crate. He's jumping at the door the
- 58:27second he's walking out, scratching, biting everything.
- 58:30He's like, I can't. He's like, I go to the gym, like
- 58:32I, I, I like to grocery shop. He's like, I like, you know, I
- 58:36go into an office for work. He's like, I don't think I can
- 58:39leave this dog. And I'm like, Oh no.
- 58:42And so I just basically told him I'm like, hey, like, obviously
- 58:46it takes time to like settle in and adjust and things like that.
- 58:49But also I said, I want to tell you like, don't feel like this
- 58:54is your like your only option is now giving up your life for this
- 59:00dog. I'm like, you're going to get a
- 59:01lot of opinions on things of what you should and shouldn't
- 59:03do. Like he already he's like, yeah,
- 59:05I brought it to daycare because they told me just bring him to
- 59:06daycare every day. And I'm like, what?
- 59:09Like so now you need to have a budget just to send this dog to
- 59:11daycare every day because they can't be alone.
- 59:13I'm like, I'm like, I'm just gonna tell you this from my
- 59:15personal experience, I'm like, this dog needs to learn how to
- 59:17be alone. And I said that's probably not
- 59:19gonna be a fun process for either of you to start.
- 59:21I said it's like the crate training will have to happen and
- 59:24it's probably gonna suck before it gets better.
- 59:26And he's like, I appreciate you like saying this stuff to me.
- 59:28I'm like, I am not gonna sugarcoat it, 'cause if this dog
- 59:30has true separation anxiety, I'm like, I wouldn't want that for
- 59:35anyone. And so like I kind of told him
- 59:38not that like I want him to immediately bring the dog back,
- 59:41but my brain goes to this is his first opportunity to own a dog.
- 59:45It's already becoming something that was like not at all what he
- 59:49wanted, Which I do think obviously there's some
- 59:52responsibility to that as well of, you know, going getting a
- 59:55dog, but there might be a better fit for this dog.
- 59:58I'm not saying go put this dog down or anything like that, but.
- 1:00:02He's like, I just already feel so, so much guilt if I were to
- 1:00:05bring the dog back, yeah. He was trying to do a good
- 1:00:07thing, yes. Yeah, no one.
- 1:00:09Ever shares this part? Except trainers.
- 1:00:11But like, yeah, it's not what someone thinks when they go and
- 1:00:14rescue a dog from the shelter. Yep.
- 1:00:16It's the wording We're like, yeah.
- 1:00:19Yeah. And so then of course, he's
- 1:00:20like, you know, he's probably just had a really bad life.
- 1:00:22And I'm like, maybe, but maybe not.
- 1:00:25I was like, I was like, that's probably what they told you.
- 1:00:29And I'm like, he's probably also just totally out of sorts.
- 1:00:31Like he's used to being in a chaotic environment of barking
- 1:00:34or constantly being around other dogs.
- 1:00:36And the energy's probably been so heightened that like he's
- 1:00:39almost probably having like detox of being in a calm
- 1:00:42household and, you know, so. Without a lot of dogs, yeah.
- 1:00:46Yeah, So it was just like kind of baffling to me of like some
- 1:00:50of the things that I can already tell he's probably being told of
- 1:00:53like, OK, well. Basically or like finding outlet
- 1:00:58or change. Your change your life for this
- 1:01:00dog. It's very dog.
- 1:01:02Based. Yes.
- 1:01:03And I said to him, and I was like, you know, obviously
- 1:01:05getting a dog, you have to embrace changes regardless, but
- 1:01:08I was like, I don't think that dog ownership should literally
- 1:01:11be a, you know, it's where you 100% give everything up for this
- 1:01:18dog at your own expense. Like to me, I'm like, that
- 1:01:21doesn't seem fun at all. Like I had a very, very
- 1:01:25challenging first dog and I still, there was, you know,
- 1:01:28things I had to adjust in my life, but it still was never a,
- 1:01:32well, I can't have people over because my dog doesn't like
- 1:01:35people. It's like, no, we work around
- 1:01:38how to make that successful for everyone because I'm not going
- 1:01:40to give up my life. Yeah, because of a dog that I
- 1:01:43choose to have. Well.
- 1:01:45That's wild that they the rescuer or shelter or whatever
- 1:01:48wouldn't even recommend steps further for crate training.
- 1:01:52It's like when my mom adopted her dog Harper, she had
- 1:01:57separation anxiety and she not like a like when I think of true
- 1:02:01separation anxiety, it's like trying to break out of the
- 1:02:02kennel and like grabbing the thing with her teeth and like
- 1:02:05whatever. But sometimes it could be more
- 1:02:07subtle of just barking, barking, getting themselves in a fit or
- 1:02:10whatever. And so I went over and I think,
- 1:02:16I think sometimes people think like a trainer is like a
- 1:02:18magician because they literally just put the dog in the kennel
- 1:02:21and like maybe tap the top of the kennel or something or, and
- 1:02:24just like open it. Let them try to come out, close
- 1:02:27the door or what? Just patience and not giving a
- 1:02:30time of day being like, it's OK, Sally, you're fine in there.
- 1:02:34Yeah. Well, and I think sometimes
- 1:02:36owners just don't, they're not, they don't understand how they
- 1:02:40see a dog. And if the dog is uncomfortable,
- 1:02:42that's like, well, let's avoid that.
- 1:02:44Like I don't want the dog to be uncomfortable, like don't worry
- 1:02:46about me. But that because it's not
- 1:02:47something that they see where we see over and over again how I
- 1:02:52think you said it in like a post of yours or maybe a story where
- 1:02:56it's like discomfort is not a bad thing.
- 1:02:59I don't know if you said that probably, but it's like it's OK
- 1:03:01for your dog to be uncomfortable, but it's just a
- 1:03:04means to an end. It doesn't mean that like
- 1:03:06they're going to be uncomfortable forever.
- 1:03:07But that's just part of the process where I don't know.
- 1:03:11Sometimes I just think about like shelters and the ones that
- 1:03:13we have close by where post training help that is not just
- 1:03:17food based. Like when I went to Petco couple
- 1:03:21days ago to get something and I see this lady with these two
- 1:03:26giant Rottweilers on a flat local collar going into a class
- 1:03:30and barking and lunging at another doodle who the owner had
- 1:03:34like 10 feet away. And I was like, Oh my God, what
- 1:03:36are they possibly going to teach them with food for reactivity
- 1:03:40and two. Dogs of that power being held by
- 1:03:43one person I know. It's just stuff like that.
- 1:03:46Where am I? We see that and we're like.
- 1:03:49Jesus. OK, well.
- 1:03:50We know whatever we're an owner might see it and think, well,
- 1:03:52it's just how it is. Like, yeah, I don't know.
- 1:03:55So I think that's just the more we share, the more we help
- 1:03:58owners and the more that kind of stuff spreads.
- 1:04:00Cuz I just think a lot of people don't know, yeah.
- 1:04:03And I think the thing about it too is talking about some of the
- 1:04:05stuff where it's not like just the rainbows and butterflies.
- 1:04:08It's like some people might hear it and just like whatever, you
- 1:04:12know, and that's fine. It can go in one ear and out the
- 1:04:14other. But the goal is truly like when
- 1:04:18we talk about we're dog trainers, like we really are
- 1:04:20caring so much about like the owner's well-being through the
- 1:04:23process as well. And I think that sometimes it
- 1:04:26can come off as like, you know, we are like, your dog can live a
- 1:04:30pretty simple life. And some people very much
- 1:04:33disagree with that of like, why are you not telling people to do
- 1:04:35more of this or do more of that? But it's like, if you give
- 1:04:39owners something that is sustainable and attainable for
- 1:04:42them to do with their dog, you're going to end up having a
- 1:04:45happier dog. Yeah.
- 1:04:46Like that, I believe. So like to my core, I believe
- 1:04:52that because people will come in like gung ho right off the bat
- 1:04:56of like I'm going to do all of these things.
- 1:04:58I want to get into this like sport with my dog.
- 1:04:59I want to do this. Those are all great things.
- 1:05:01Great. If you want to do that, that
- 1:05:04goes down, like people do not like keep that like high of
- 1:05:08highs when they, you know, leave the training or leave adopting,
- 1:05:13you know, their dog, it's going to end up being like, oh, well,
- 1:05:15life happens. And I can't really get into that
- 1:05:17class anymore. I can't go do that sport with my
- 1:05:19dog. I can't go do hikes every single
- 1:05:21weekend with my dog. But what I can do is train them
- 1:05:25so that we can go on really nice walks every day.
- 1:05:27Yeah. And to me, I'm like, that's a
- 1:05:29beautiful life with your dog. Yeah.
- 1:05:31Well. And I something I want to
- 1:05:33mention because I know I have mentioned a couple people that
- 1:05:37I've worked with virtually or in person and I've talked on here
- 1:05:40about a message I got from them or an e-mail.
- 1:05:43And I don't mean to say it in a way where I'm like judging them.
- 1:05:46It's more just being totally honest about how it feels to get
- 1:05:50certain messages or emails and also feeling a kind of
- 1:05:54responsibility for being someone that someone can talk to about
- 1:05:57this. But like with the owners with
- 1:05:59where the option in the e-mail was, maybe we should put him
- 1:06:02down. To me, my instinct is just why
- 1:06:05not try something else? Why not try to find him a home
- 1:06:08or and she's mentioned before about doesn't want to spend and
- 1:06:11she said it and not like I'm not going to spend any more money,
- 1:06:14but it's just like you said, it's expensive, especially when
- 1:06:16you're trying to figure things out and give your dog the best
- 1:06:20life and the best opportunities. And it's like, but there are
- 1:06:24different options. Like to me, it's just, and I
- 1:06:27don't hear that that often where someone's like, well, the next
- 1:06:30option is maybe putting the dog down, but it's just to shed
- 1:06:33light on. There are other things that you
- 1:06:35can do. It doesn't have to just be,
- 1:06:38well, that's the next thing. And I don't know if that is
- 1:06:40something people are told or whatever, but I don't know, just
- 1:06:43to kind of also talk about how I would never well, and I don't
- 1:06:48know, it's so easy to say that from the outside when I, I
- 1:06:51literally haven't had a dog where I feel like that would be
- 1:06:53an option or something like that.
- 1:06:55I I. Could probably talk on the other
- 1:06:57side of it is like, I do feel like certain owners, I'm not
- 1:07:00saying these are, I'm talking about like situations where the
- 1:07:03people have tried absolutely everything.
- 1:07:06I do think there are some dogs that people unfortunately like,
- 1:07:09I don't want to say hold on to for too long, but they are true
- 1:07:13liabilities in the wrong hands. And I even think about that,
- 1:07:16especially when Rhody was younger, like I was, I've always
- 1:07:19been so proactive with him. And, but like in a different
- 1:07:23home, he would have been a liability.
- 1:07:26And I do not feel like he would have been a safe dog for a
- 1:07:29family, for people that are just like, it's a dog being a dog,
- 1:07:33like. And so in that type of
- 1:07:35situation, like there are certain dogs that I do think
- 1:07:39it's the most, you know, humane option, but we're talking the
- 1:07:44extreme cases of like they have tried everything they have, you
- 1:07:48know, you know, made sure that it's in the home with the right
- 1:07:50fit and things like that. And then you can always talk
- 1:07:53about the, you know, depending on this dog, like some people
- 1:07:57also don't want the project dog. And, you know, if the reactivity
- 1:08:01is so bad to the point where someone can't like live a
- 1:08:04fulfilling life with this dog. And I don't know, you know, it's
- 1:08:07like those are the things that I kind of on the other side think
- 1:08:09about which. Yes.
- 1:08:11Is OK if like, you know, we disagree on that or something?
- 1:08:16Yeah. Totally.
- 1:08:17Well, I think there's just different.
- 1:08:20It's so versatile, all the different feelings and
- 1:08:25experiences and like cuz sometimes I think it's like
- 1:08:28always when you have these different things in mind where
- 1:08:30you think about like a certain thing like that makes you even
- 1:08:33more sensitive to something. Like when I this account I
- 1:08:36follow, they have a farm, they're in Georgia and one of
- 1:08:40their dogs was great with them but started showing signs of not
- 1:08:46being OK around the kids and they ended up putting the dog
- 1:08:50down. And my thought process was, and
- 1:08:53I don't know, maybe they did, but from the outside I was like,
- 1:08:55well, did you reach out to like another a trainer who maybe
- 1:08:58doesn't use just food or but their thing was, and again, this
- 1:09:03is speaking to what you said didn't seem like she would be
- 1:09:05safe with someone else, which I totally get.
- 1:09:08I just, I think sometimes I don't know, I'm judging from the
- 1:09:11outside like, well, did you try this other thing that maybe
- 1:09:14never thought of? That's where with E collar
- 1:09:17training, I just think it's so misunderstood for all the
- 1:09:20different reasons but. Oh yeah, I, I truly like when
- 1:09:23it's stuff like that too. And you know, obviously we don't
- 1:09:25know. But when there hasn't been like
- 1:09:28trying E car training or like certain things that we know,
- 1:09:32like safety stuff that can be put in place with still having a
- 1:09:34dog live a fulfilling life. Like, yeah, I don't think a dog
- 1:09:36should just live in their crate. It's like, what kind of life is
- 1:09:39that? But there will be some people
- 1:09:41I've heard where it's like they literally like, no, I'm just not
- 1:09:43gonna. I don't.
- 1:09:44Oh my gosh. I can't create a dog.
- 1:09:45And I'm like, yeah, but we can put a dog down.
- 1:09:48Exactly. That.
- 1:09:49IA 100% like agree with it's yes crazy somebody like.
- 1:09:53Nuances too. We should do a whole other
- 1:09:55episode on this I feel like. Oh my gosh.
- 1:09:57We could talk. About we'll either have.
- 1:09:58People come and go with the pitchforks or they're like,
- 1:10:00yeah, I totally agree. That's not the thing where the
- 1:10:04book I'm working on right now, it's E caller focused because
- 1:10:07when I went on just Amazon, I'm not like going everywhere, but I
- 1:10:10looked up reactivity help and it's all purely positive.
- 1:10:13And I was like, and so I'm kind of also already preparing for
- 1:10:17the pitchforks. And but I also don't want to not
- 1:10:20do something based on the fear of what some people might not
- 1:10:23like it. Like, yeah, I don't want to live
- 1:10:25my life that way either. So totally agree.
- 1:10:28So many things. Yeah, yeah, I know.
- 1:10:29We could do, as you said, a whole a whole thing on that, but
- 1:10:33in a couple of minutes we are having the people that painted
- 1:10:37like everything in our house come to give us a quote for
- 1:10:41painting our full garage so that we can get it ready for the
- 1:10:43garage gym. That's so exciting.
- 1:10:45Oh my gosh, I'm going over. I forgot that you have timed
- 1:10:48things. Oh, that's.
- 1:10:49OK. No, I'm good.
- 1:10:51Yep, it's 20 minutes. Yeah, OK.
- 1:10:53I can't wait to hear more about that.
- 1:10:54I think we're. Gonna do some sort of like dark
- 1:10:57color and all over make it Moody in there.
- 1:11:01Oh really? Yeah.
- 1:11:02Wow, that's. Surprising.
- 1:11:04Why I don't? Know a Moody gym?
- 1:11:07I like that like I love that like.
- 1:11:11Have you seen we don't want to do too too trendy, but like, I
- 1:11:15mean, who cares if it's trendy now and it's not in a couple of
- 1:11:17years? But like you've seen like this
- 1:11:23kind of vibe. Hold on, hold on, is that.
- 1:11:26Like a olive green hold. On it hasn't done it yet.
- 1:11:30Oh, black like. People do.
- 1:11:32That's not Yeah, it's not black, but it's like a chocolate
- 1:11:35espresso. But yeah, like, hold on.
- 1:11:41This is like me showing you videos on a SO.
- 1:11:45Great, but we're. Not local, but like see how like
- 1:11:47behind her it's like a dark I. Do like that cuz you could open
- 1:11:52the garage door or like put light yeah yeah.
- 1:11:54And then we'll have a bright lights up top and stuff.
- 1:11:57So to be determined to be. Continued We'll yeah next time
- 1:12:02about it cuz it'll be painted by next time no.
- 1:12:04We're just having them come and do a quote.
- 1:12:07I mean, we probably will have it painted somewhat soon, but we
- 1:12:10need to get like everything out of there and clean everything
- 1:12:12before we can have them come in and paint it.
- 1:12:14Oh yeah, that. Just makes so much sense to have
- 1:12:15a home gym for y'all I know. Just love working out, yeah?
- 1:12:19And it's like, sometimes we'll literally be like, Oh my gosh,
- 1:12:21OK, like let's run to plan it quick while we're, you know, for
- 1:12:24our lunch break or whatever. But I'm like, if I can come out
- 1:12:27here, put a place bed out with a dog and we'll obviously still go
- 1:12:31to stuff and A, JS and stuff for like our two days a week, just
- 1:12:36A, because we like socializing and B, it's just fun to work out
- 1:12:41with other people. But yeah, it makes so much sense
- 1:12:44for us. That's so exciting.
- 1:12:46Yay. OK, well enjoy the rest of your
- 1:12:49day. I love your bright colors.
- 1:12:51Is it getting warm there? Yeah, it's still nice enough to
- 1:12:55like, walk in the afternoon because that's when it gets like
- 1:12:58we had 6071 and sunny. Oh wow.
- 1:13:01We're supposed to get which I don't know if I believe it, but
- 1:13:04sometimes it just is really Gray in the morning.
- 1:13:06But it's supposed to be like 71 and sunny today.
- 1:13:08But. The same weather is me right
- 1:13:11now. Well, that's your morning.
- 1:13:12That might be like our late afternoon, that is.
- 1:13:14Wild didn't even see let. Me see what it is right now.
- 1:13:17That's why, like, Wisconsin is so bizarre, because, like, it's
- 1:13:21Gray and 42 right now, that is. The most bizarre thing ever, but
- 1:13:25it. Says by what is up with me being
- 1:13:29on my phone like. Apparently.
- 1:13:32I want to treat things like. As if we're sitting and talking
- 1:13:34with each other. So so like. 4:00 PM.
- 1:13:36It's supposed to be 69. Oh, it was so weird.
- 1:13:40Yeah, it's gonna get up to 80 today.
- 1:13:43But yours will actually probably happen.
- 1:13:45What, by like noon? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:47No, ours is like 5:00 PM. Head outside at 69.
- 1:13:52Well next time I see you I'm so excited I'm getting because I
- 1:13:53have grades in my hair this is and then she tints my eyebrows.
- 1:13:57So after I get my hair done and stuff, it's always.
- 1:14:00Nice. OK.
- 1:14:02You do it pretty frequently because you was the last time
- 1:14:04you got it done when we were there.
- 1:14:06Yeah, OK, cool. It's because of my Grays in my
- 1:14:08hair. Like Bobby was like, didn't you
- 1:14:10just go there? And I was like, yeah, but
- 1:14:11because I have Grays in my hair, I just, I'm not ready to, like,
- 1:14:14grow them out. Like I feel like.
- 1:14:15You'd look awesome, but I totally get not being ready for
- 1:14:18it I. I I respect people who do that.
- 1:14:20I can't. I'm getting my hair done as
- 1:14:23well, but not until next week Tuesday.
- 1:14:27So oh, that's something that we'll have to talk about.
- 1:14:30We can obviously talk about it offline, but for recording next
- 1:14:33week we might have to do a day early if possible, just because
- 1:14:37Wednesday I'm leaving. Or we could do an early one
- 1:14:40before I leave. But I'm heading to visit Chris
- 1:14:45Eloise, my parents, for my belated birthday celebration and
- 1:14:49then the next day I head to Savannah, OH.
- 1:14:51Yes, yeah, which? We never talked about, but it's
- 1:14:53more literally only there for 2 1/2 days.
- 1:14:55So we'll do a, we'll do a different girls trip, yes.
- 1:14:59OK. All right.
- 1:15:02I will talk to you soon. Have a great rest of your day.
- 1:15:04OK, bye.
