- 0:00Speaker 1: It's still.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Welcome everybody.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Welcome to this week's edition This Still Real Dust Show,
- 0:21Speaker 3: episode number seven seventy five or December nineteen, twenty twenty four.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Welcome to your twenty twenty four wrestling Recap special.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Edition of the app R Team.
- 0:32Speaker 2: You. I am one alf the show. I am Jeff Peck,
- 0:36Speaker 2: joined every single week with my cost of only doctor
- 0:39Speaker 2: Trey Franklin. Doctor Trey. Are you ready to look back
- 0:42Speaker 2: at twenty fourteen, my friend?
- 0:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy that we're here.
- 0:48Speaker 4: It feels like just yesterday we were doing the like
- 0:51Speaker 4: the a war shows for the COVID era. The thing
- 0:53Speaker 4: that's been a few years ago now is like crap,
- 0:56Speaker 4: Like it's really flown by.
- 0:58Speaker 1: I do have.
- 1:01Speaker 4: All my dry cleaning getting prepared for the award show day,
- 1:05Speaker 4: so like all that stuff's ready to go for as
- 1:07Speaker 4: we get through the holiday schedule. But yeah, like looking
- 1:10Speaker 4: back being nostalgic about what a great year in professional
- 1:13Speaker 4: wrestling was, I'm pretty excited to actually sit down and
- 1:17Speaker 4: talk about it, and even Jeff, I'm even excited to
- 1:19Speaker 4: hear my bull predictions and my voice on tape. I'm
- 1:23Speaker 4: even excited for that.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Wow, this is usually the show that doctor Trey dreads.
- 1:27Speaker 2: It was always you said, what did you call yourself?
- 1:29Speaker 2: Like a Southern Kermit the Frog? I always remember that line.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Is a red neck muppet.
- 1:34Speaker 2: That's what it was.
- 1:35Speaker 4: Is a red neck muppet's kind of what I sound like.
- 1:37Speaker 4: But then I hear it, I'm like, my accent isn't
- 1:40Speaker 4: that bad? Actually, So it's just that when I get excited,
- 1:44Speaker 4: my voice gets higher pitched. And as I've done more
- 1:47Speaker 4: training on in the shoot job, the real life job,
- 1:50Speaker 4: I have to record myself training people, and I'm like, yeah,
- 1:53Speaker 4: so when I'm excited, my voice gets higher pitched, and
- 1:56Speaker 4: when I'm having to defend an opinion, my voice gets
- 1:59Speaker 4: higher pitched. But when I'm relaxing, calm man, I sound
- 2:02Speaker 4: like Jeff peck On, you know, on read just like
- 2:05Speaker 4: all chill and leave back and deep and gravelly and
- 2:08Speaker 4: ladies just throwing panties at me.
- 2:10Speaker 2: You know what's wild is when you listen back to
- 2:12Speaker 2: like some of the old episodes of SRTU and like,
- 2:15Speaker 2: both our voices so so damn different, because it's just
- 2:19Speaker 2: I don't know, maturity, getting older mileage from both of us.
- 2:24Speaker 2: It's it's it's it's wild, but This is the show
- 2:27Speaker 2: where we where we look for those that are new.
- 2:30Speaker 2: This is part of the holiday programming schedule that we
- 2:32Speaker 2: do every year and a year, So this is our
- 2:35Speaker 2: Wrestling Recap special. On next week show on the twenty six,
- 2:39Speaker 2: the day after Christmas is our twenty twenty four SRTU
- 2:41Speaker 2: Award Show Special that is the last episode of twenty
- 2:45Speaker 2: twenty four, and then in two weeks time, on January
- 2:48Speaker 2: the second, it will be our twenty twenty five Wrestling
- 2:51Speaker 2: Preview special. So we recap, handout awards, and look ahead
- 2:56Speaker 2: for the upcoming year in the world professional wrestling, and
- 2:58Speaker 2: some of my favorite times of the year, Doctor Trey
- 3:00Speaker 2: and I get to an opportunity to just kind of
- 3:02Speaker 2: like sit back, relax, take everything all in, look back,
- 3:06Speaker 2: look at the present, look forward, and it's just a
- 3:09Speaker 2: fun time of the year. And I'm excited to be
- 3:12Speaker 2: here Doc Trey, to kick things off on our Wrestling
- 3:15Speaker 2: Recap special. And you kind of like dipped your hat
- 3:19Speaker 2: there a little bit in the beginning where I was
- 3:20Speaker 2: going to ask you, when we look back overall the
- 3:24Speaker 2: entire scope of professional wrestling in twenty twenty four, give
- 3:29Speaker 2: me like your overall thoughts and if you had to
- 3:31Speaker 2: give twenty twenty four a letter grade, let's throw it
- 3:36Speaker 2: out there and then also compare this year twenty twenty
- 3:39Speaker 2: four to the last fourteen years of covering SRTU. So
- 3:43Speaker 2: from twenty ten onwards, where would you rank twenty twenty
- 3:47Speaker 2: four in the world of professional wrestling.
- 3:50Speaker 4: I love that you come to me and you're like,
- 3:51Speaker 4: you know, compare this last fourteen years. And off air,
- 3:54Speaker 4: we were talking baseball a little bit and I literally
- 3:56Speaker 4: forgot the name of Shoto Maga from the Cups.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, today, So yeah.
- 4:02Speaker 4: Doctor Trey, let's look at back at the last fourteen years.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Off the top of your head. This year, this year,
- 4:08Speaker 4: like wrestling was really really strong, Like it was strong
- 4:11Speaker 4: across you know, most borders. I would say, I would say,
- 4:15Speaker 4: if you look at if you if you break it
- 4:16Speaker 4: down into like and it's about Major league wrestling, like
- 4:20Speaker 4: the top level of professional wrestling.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I thought overall between.
- 4:23Speaker 4: WWE, awtn A, Yeah, there are some flaws, but overall
- 4:28Speaker 4: I thought wrestling was really good. The the that triple
- 4:31Speaker 4: A tire, whether it's the GCW's MLWS that level, I
- 4:34Speaker 4: thought those are really strong, like wrestling even down the
- 4:37Speaker 4: independence wrestling was really strong across the board. I mean,
- 4:44Speaker 4: the talent's getting better, the storylines are typically getting better,
- 4:49Speaker 4: u the exposure that wrestling is getting on a national
- 4:53Speaker 4: scale is getting better. I mean you're seeing deals getting
- 4:57Speaker 4: moved left and right to go to different streaming platforms
- 5:00Speaker 4: and you know, going to different networks and things like
- 5:02Speaker 4: that to get more highs on the product.
- 5:04Speaker 1: And you only get to do that when there's demand.
- 5:08Speaker 4: If you compare to years past, you think of times
- 5:10Speaker 4: when like TNA was leaving Spike to go to Destination
- 5:13Speaker 4: America and then ended up on some obscure channel that
- 5:17Speaker 4: we had a hard time finding because it only was
- 5:20Speaker 4: in like forty thousand homes, you know, and other places
- 5:24Speaker 4: weren't able to get deals and stuff like wrestling's in
- 5:28Speaker 4: a much better spot. Like the storytelling in WWE, and
- 5:31Speaker 4: even the storytelling and some of the other show like
- 5:33Speaker 4: programs like on the Triple A and DOUAA levels are
- 5:36Speaker 4: really really good. The talent and this is something you
- 5:40Speaker 4: and I've been harping off with the last seven eight years.
- 5:42Speaker 4: We've seen it coming. The talent has never been better
- 5:46Speaker 4: than it is right now. I mean, all these shows,
- 5:49Speaker 4: whether it's TNAAWWWE.
- 5:52Speaker 1: They are so deep on their respective brands.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Now.
- 5:55Speaker 4: Mind you, they have budgetary constraints, but just the depth
- 6:00Speaker 4: on all of these shows is just incredible two years past.
- 6:04Speaker 4: I mean, we don't have Jeff gushing over a Lars
- 6:08Speaker 4: Sullivan type person right now, Like you know, there's no
- 6:11Speaker 4: like you see a prospect, You're like, that guy is
- 6:13Speaker 4: going to be a star. There's not a question about it,
- 6:15Speaker 4: like on some of these people. The depth and the
- 6:18Speaker 4: women's division, you know, across all the brands are really good.
- 6:21Speaker 4: The depth and the tag team divisions across these brands
- 6:24Speaker 4: are really good.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I mean, it's just amazing.
- 6:26Speaker 4: The depth and quality of wrestling across the world right
- 6:29Speaker 4: now is probably as good as it has ever been.
- 6:33Speaker 4: And that's coming from somebody who grew up during the
- 6:35Speaker 4: Attitude era more so than just about anybody else.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been a really good year for professional wrestling.
- 6:42Speaker 2: I think it's to me, if I'm giving a letter
- 6:46Speaker 2: grade for this year, Doctor Troy, I'm giving it an
- 6:49Speaker 2: A overall. And I think when I look back at
- 6:51Speaker 2: the last fourteen years of SRTU and the years that
- 6:54Speaker 2: we've covered, I think twenty twenty four maybe the best
- 6:59Speaker 2: year of Rushon and wrestling in the fourteen years of
- 7:02Speaker 2: covering it here on the strialto Show podcast.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I just.
- 7:08Speaker 2: I can't think of a time when I would put
- 7:10Speaker 2: on WWE Raw or SmackDown, even NXT this past year
- 7:15Speaker 2: where I was not everything creative is a knockout of
- 7:21Speaker 2: the park. But the show overall is always very good.
- 7:26Speaker 2: It's always very captivated. It always keeps me entertained. We
- 7:30Speaker 2: haven't had stretches where we went from one pay per
- 7:32Speaker 2: view to another where I'm like, well, this has been
- 7:34Speaker 2: a really bad build. I'm not really looking forward to
- 7:37Speaker 2: this match. This is leaving a lot left on the
- 7:39Speaker 2: table that I want to see. I just felt like
- 7:42Speaker 2: w was consistently good all year long. AW had their
- 7:47Speaker 2: ebbs and flows, and we'll certainly get to them here. Momentarily,
- 7:50Speaker 2: TNA Wrestling was on the rise, and then the little
- 7:53Speaker 2: brands that are out there, the GCW's, the MLW's, they
- 7:57Speaker 2: had a successful year as well, building up words and
- 8:00Speaker 2: it just felt like wrestling overall was booming. And that's
- 8:04Speaker 2: very exciting for guys like you and I who are
- 8:06Speaker 2: a longtime wrestling fans, because yeah, we do live in nostalgia.
- 8:09Speaker 2: We do live in the past. We're coming off a
- 8:11Speaker 2: Saturday Night's main event this past week, and it it
- 8:15Speaker 2: just we always go back and go, well, it's not
- 8:17Speaker 2: the Attitude era, it's not the Attitude Air, it's not
- 8:19Speaker 2: the Attitude era. This timeframe right now, I think is
- 8:23Speaker 2: something that in ten years time, twenty years time, I
- 8:26Speaker 2: as a wrestling fan, look back at fondly as an
- 8:29Speaker 2: era in we programming alone, and that's really exciting, that's
- 8:34Speaker 2: really fun. So professional Wrestling's had a really good year overall.
- 8:39Speaker 2: I give it an A and I think twenty twenty
- 8:42Speaker 2: four Doctor Trey may be the best year we've ever
- 8:44Speaker 2: covered in professional wrestling.
- 8:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I was looking back thinking about like
- 8:50Speaker 4: all the times we've been covering the show, and there's
- 8:52Speaker 4: been a couple of good years in there, but there
- 8:54Speaker 4: was always something to kind of drug it down.
- 8:56Speaker 1: You know.
- 8:59Speaker 4: I would probably get it an A minus, maybe slightly
- 9:02Speaker 4: a knock less you. And that's only because I feel
- 9:05Speaker 4: like one of the shows kind of pulled some of
- 9:08Speaker 4: the other stuff down a little bit, I guess. And
- 9:12Speaker 4: then you know, I always look for like, is there
- 9:14Speaker 4: that guy that kind of has broken out from the pack.
- 9:18Speaker 4: You know, I always want that breakout star, whether it
- 9:20Speaker 4: was a Scena during his day, whether it was a
- 9:22Speaker 4: Daniel Bryan during his time in WWE, whether it was
- 9:25Speaker 4: you know, when Roman and the Bloodline first found it,
- 9:27Speaker 4: you know, first came out.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I don't know if anybody.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Really broke out and separated themselves from everybody else.
- 9:34Speaker 1: I don't know if anybody's that must see guy.
- 9:37Speaker 4: I think there's everybody kind of helped elevate Arabodyl's game
- 9:41Speaker 4: a little bit, but I still feel like there's groupings
- 9:44Speaker 4: together of like three or four guys who are on
- 9:47Speaker 4: one level, then three or four guys on this level,
- 9:49Speaker 4: and then three or four guys on a notch down.
- 9:51Speaker 4: So I don't know we have that breakout guy, and
- 9:53Speaker 4: that's usually what kind of separates a year out from
- 9:56Speaker 4: me for me than anything else, whether talk about attitude area,
- 9:59Speaker 4: there's an Austin Iraq, a SNA, you know, whether it's
- 10:04Speaker 4: a Daniel Bryan, a Roman Reigns, even Cody last year
- 10:07Speaker 4: kind of broke out. I just don't know if there's
- 10:10Speaker 4: that bankable money guy that everybody has to see. But
- 10:15Speaker 4: there's a lot of really really good guys that people
- 10:18Speaker 4: will consistently tune into.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I guess, so let's look back at WWE, Doctor Troy,
- 10:22Speaker 2: how would we recap World Wrestling Entertainment in twenty twenty four?
- 10:29Speaker 4: For me, I would say that it's arguably the best
- 10:32Speaker 4: year I've ever watched WWE. Like the consistency in the storytelling,
- 10:39Speaker 4: the dropping of little hints from one angle that bleeds
- 10:43Speaker 4: into another one down the road, the storytelling. You know,
- 10:49Speaker 4: the match quality has been better than it's been in
- 10:51Speaker 4: years past, just from top to bottom.
- 10:55Speaker 1: To me, it was an a like it was like
- 10:58Speaker 1: I said, the only thing that they didn't really have
- 11:00Speaker 1: is they didn't.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Really have that breakout guy that everybody that that hot
- 11:05Speaker 4: guy that everybody has to see. There was just really
- 11:08Speaker 4: good consistency across all their brands. I thought NXT elevated
- 11:13Speaker 4: itself from last year. SmackDown got a little better, especially
- 11:17Speaker 4: when Roman came back. Rod's been consistently good. You had
- 11:21Speaker 4: some great feuds. Tag team division was kind of struggling
- 11:25Speaker 4: for a while, but over the last six weeks has
- 11:28Speaker 4: really picked up. The women's division. At time it's been
- 11:32Speaker 4: a little bit meh, but for the most part, the
- 11:35Speaker 4: NXT women's vision has kind of saved women's wrestling in WWE,
- 11:39Speaker 4: and then the liv Rhea stuff's been really good.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Nia's come on really strong.
- 11:43Speaker 4: So just from top to bottom production value, throwing in
- 11:48Speaker 4: some nostalgia stuff like a little bit of everything you want,
- 11:52Speaker 4: WWE just basically hit a home run this year.
- 11:54Speaker 1: To me, like I said, in the fourteen fifteen years
- 11:57Speaker 1: we've been covering the.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Show, I don't know if they've had if they've had
- 12:00Speaker 4: a better year overall than they had this year.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot of ways you could describe this.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Is it the beginning or in the middle of or whatever.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Is this a dynasty era for w WA. I know
- 12:12Speaker 2: dynasty is a phrase that AW likes to use, but
- 12:15Speaker 2: is this a dynasty that's going on in World Rush Entertainment?
- 12:18Speaker 2: Because top to bottom they are another word that you
- 12:20Speaker 2: could describe them, flawless. It's like I had to really
- 12:24Speaker 2: rack my brain where you know, there were periods of
- 12:27Speaker 2: time and we'll talk about this in regards to AW
- 12:29Speaker 2: certainly in just a little bit, but there would be
- 12:32Speaker 2: stretches of shows going into a pay per view during
- 12:35Speaker 2: the vitcick Man Creative Team era where I was like, yeah,
- 12:38Speaker 2: you know, I'm not really feeling these matches. I'm not
- 12:40Speaker 2: really feeling the creative in it. It's not getting me
- 12:43Speaker 2: excited for the matches, and the match would happen at
- 12:46Speaker 2: the pay per view and then you'd move on and
- 12:48Speaker 2: then maybe w would be in a decent stretch for
- 12:50Speaker 2: maybe a month or two where it was pretty good,
- 12:52Speaker 2: and then it would fall off again, like it could
- 12:54Speaker 2: be one bad month, two good months, three bad months,
- 12:58Speaker 2: two good months. Like it was very very inconsistent, and
- 13:02Speaker 2: it was so inconsistent that it would almost become normal
- 13:06Speaker 2: and natural professional wrestling where you wouldn't get from January
- 13:09Speaker 2: to December in a calendar year a good solid production,
- 13:13Speaker 2: good solid entertainment from your restling promotion that you watched.
- 13:16Speaker 2: There were going to be periods of time where would
- 13:20Speaker 2: dip a little bit. There were periods of time where
- 13:22Speaker 2: w would be on the rise, and it always seemed
- 13:25Speaker 2: to like coalesce with something that was going on, Like
- 13:28Speaker 2: we would always talk about we were entering the Monday
- 13:30Speaker 2: Night Football eras of WW and things would be going
- 13:34Speaker 2: really really well for and during Monday night football or
- 13:37Speaker 2: college football would be starting, or the NBA Finals World Series.
- 13:41Speaker 2: It was always something that was going on that we
- 13:44Speaker 2: would give like an excuse as to why WW wasn't
- 13:47Speaker 2: doing well. But what they've been doing really well in
- 13:50Speaker 2: twenty twenty four is that from January December, I don't
- 13:54Speaker 2: know if there's been more than a week where they
- 13:57Speaker 2: haven't had good programming in all honesty, I mean, if
- 14:01Speaker 2: Raw is very good, SmackDown's very good, NXT's very good.
- 14:05Speaker 2: I guess if there was a flaw in the beginning
- 14:07Speaker 2: of the year, it was you were seeing the build
- 14:09Speaker 2: to what NXC was towards the end of twenty twenty four,
- 14:12Speaker 2: which they're coming into twenty twenty five, and they're a
- 14:14Speaker 2: very exciting brand right now, the stuff that's going on
- 14:18Speaker 2: with them. You know, maybe that was the flaw in
- 14:20Speaker 2: the beginning of the year, but as an overall product,
- 14:23Speaker 2: it's hard to blink and think that there was a
- 14:26Speaker 2: period of time, Doctor Trey that WW was not good
- 14:29Speaker 2: for a week or two or into a build to
- 14:33Speaker 2: a pay per view. I mean, there are very few
- 14:35Speaker 2: times that you and I sit here when we preview
- 14:36Speaker 2: a pl and we're like, well, yeah, I like the
- 14:39Speaker 2: four other matches, but this one match, this makes no sense.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Why it's on the card, Like when did that happen.
- 14:45Speaker 2: I don't think it ever did. And that's very very telling,
- 14:49Speaker 2: doctor Trey, And I think it goes to show you
- 14:51Speaker 2: that there is a blueprint for successful professional wrestling and
- 14:55Speaker 2: you're seeing it in world wrestling entertainment right now.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:58Speaker 4: And I think one thing they've done really well, and
- 15:01Speaker 4: this is basically in the last year and a half
- 15:03Speaker 4: two years base ever since Vince was kind of moved out,
- 15:07Speaker 4: was they are actually listening to criticism and their audience
- 15:12Speaker 4: a little bit more than they have in years past.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Like if you hear like you and I have critiqued
- 15:16Speaker 4: the tag team division over this year, that's been the
- 15:19Speaker 4: one flaw is the tag team division on you know,
- 15:22Speaker 4: Ron SmackDown. And then we've seen that adjustment play out
- 15:25Speaker 4: over the past eight weeks, ten weeks ever since you know,
- 15:29Speaker 4: the most of machine Guns came around, DIY got back together,
- 15:33Speaker 4: we saw the war Raiders come back, and just you know,
- 15:35Speaker 4: recently captured the tag team titles. Like they've made a
- 15:38Speaker 4: concerned effort to kind of fix something or were like, hey,
- 15:41Speaker 4: the women's division feels a little weak, they shuffle that
- 15:43Speaker 4: that thing ends up getting shuffled around. So they are
- 15:47Speaker 4: looking instead of constantly hitting their strengths, they're also trying
- 15:52Speaker 4: to fix their deficiencies in their programming as well, and
- 15:55Speaker 4: that's why it's coming across so good on TV.
- 16:00Speaker 1: It doesn't feel like it's not.
- 16:02Speaker 4: Nearly of a roller coaster that has been at times
- 16:07Speaker 4: where it's like, oh my god, it's great, and then
- 16:08Speaker 4: like a week later, like I can't watch this.
- 16:11Speaker 1: It like it's not like that. It's it's very very consistent.
- 16:15Speaker 1: You use the phrase dynasty.
- 16:16Speaker 4: When I'm thinking of it, I'm thinking of like of
- 16:18Speaker 4: a wave, Like I don't think we're at the top
- 16:20Speaker 4: of the wave. It's not cresting yet, but you can
- 16:23Speaker 4: feel that wave surging up, and like, I'm expecting big
- 16:28Speaker 4: things in twenty twenty five. You just some of the
- 16:31Speaker 4: stuff they've the rumored stuff for WrestleMania and Summer Slant,
- 16:34Speaker 4: some of that stuff like that'ud be some of the
- 16:36Speaker 4: biggest stuff we've.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Seen in a long time.
- 16:38Speaker 4: So it's it's really impressive to see not only how
- 16:43Speaker 4: well they're doing, but also how they're building for the
- 16:45Speaker 4: long term as well.
- 16:47Speaker 2: I think one of the things that you could look
- 16:48Speaker 2: at where there was an opportunity where WWE could stumble
- 16:52Speaker 2: and they didn't, and that was the whole Rock Roman
- 16:55Speaker 2: reigns built towards WrestleMania where Cody was removed. Like that
- 16:59Speaker 2: was maybe the only period of time where it was
- 17:02Speaker 2: like old school WE under Vince's reign, where they were
- 17:05Speaker 2: going in this direction. They weren't gonna care what the
- 17:07Speaker 2: fans thought, and they were gonna put that match out
- 17:10Speaker 2: there and it was gonna be like, oh, it's the
- 17:11Speaker 2: same old shit. Instead they turned it around Doctor Trey.
- 17:16Speaker 2: They saved it, and I think they gave us something
- 17:18Speaker 2: so much more entertaining and so much better heading into WrestleMania.
- 17:22Speaker 2: That got me really hyped for that show. To me,
- 17:25Speaker 2: that is this shining example of like we in twenty
- 17:29Speaker 2: twenty four, where they tried something creatively, the fans were
- 17:33Speaker 2: not liking it, they pivoted, and they put out something
- 17:37Speaker 2: that was probably better than what they were originally thinking
- 17:40Speaker 2: and planning heading into that show, I think there is
- 17:43Speaker 2: no more moment than that that's like, Okay, this is
- 17:47Speaker 2: the new We. This is the direction that they will go,
- 17:50Speaker 2: and this is why this company has the chance of
- 17:52Speaker 2: being very, very successful and maybe the most successful it's
- 17:55Speaker 2: ever been in its entire history.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:57Speaker 4: I was actually listening to an interview with A Spears
- 18:00Speaker 4: this week, and one of the things that he said
- 18:03Speaker 4: that's different now than maybe years past is when a
- 18:07Speaker 4: person comes in, they go, hey, so here's kind of
- 18:09Speaker 4: like a loose plan of what we're going to do.
- 18:13Speaker 4: We have some other things we're here, we can do,
- 18:15Speaker 4: but we're just gonna kind of see where the crowd
- 18:17Speaker 4: takes us and then we'll go that way. And I
- 18:20Speaker 4: don't think that's ever been something they've done in years past,
- 18:24Speaker 4: like there was a game plan laid out, we were
- 18:26Speaker 4: gonna it's almost like the old football days. We're gonna
- 18:29Speaker 4: run this ball down your throat and you better stop
- 18:31Speaker 4: us or not stop us. But we're going straight ahead. Now,
- 18:34Speaker 4: it's like they're flexible. They're ameniable, Like there's ways they
- 18:39Speaker 4: can kind of pivot and adjust, and you know, the
- 18:41Speaker 4: rock Roma stuff was a great example, but even like
- 18:43Speaker 4: on stuff like you know, the small scale the war
- 18:45Speaker 4: Raiders now were the Viking Raiders nine months ago, and
- 18:49Speaker 4: they had the whole big Viking gimmick and vall haul
- 18:51Speaker 4: and everything else, and then they you know, uh, Eric.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Goes down with an injury.
- 18:55Speaker 4: Next thing you know, we see Ivar on NXT and
- 18:58Speaker 4: like Biker close almost like re closed and having matches,
- 19:01Speaker 4: and then they pivoted back to the war Raiders because
- 19:04Speaker 4: that was when they enjoyed their their success. We're seeing
- 19:07Speaker 4: the MotorCity machine Guns come in as the MotorCity machine
- 19:11Speaker 4: Guns and not you know, Detroit Killers or.
- 19:15Speaker 2: You know whatever, the Troit's Super Soakers.
- 19:18Speaker 4: Yes, like some random name. Now it's like this is
- 19:21Speaker 4: what people know you as you already kind of have
- 19:23Speaker 4: a brand. Will license it so we can make our
- 19:27Speaker 4: little bit of money of it. But there's no point
- 19:28Speaker 4: in changing something that's not broken. So like they're they're
- 19:32Speaker 4: far more flexible. We're seeing them work with other promotions
- 19:36Speaker 4: which we would have never seen in years past.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Like they're actually opening up.
- 19:41Speaker 4: Instead of being like China with the great wall wrapped
- 19:44Speaker 4: around them where it's hard to get in or get out,
- 19:47Speaker 4: those walls have come down and they're open for business
- 19:50Speaker 4: and they will cross boundaries that they never would have
- 19:53Speaker 4: crossed before, just for the good of pro wrestling and
- 19:56Speaker 4: in the long run, the long term success of ww
- 20:00Speaker 4: WE as well.
- 20:00Speaker 2: All Right, Doctor Trey Lettergrade w W in twenty twenty four,
- 20:05Speaker 2: I will say in A. Yeah, I think A is fair.
- 20:09Speaker 2: I want to give them an A plus. I mean
- 20:11Speaker 2: a plus. You would be like, I think that's an
- 20:13Speaker 2: insane thing to say.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I think a plus.
- 20:16Speaker 4: You have that Austin R rock breakout guy that just
- 20:19Speaker 4: becomes the coolest thing in pop culture.
- 20:21Speaker 2: How about this too? Just because for SRTU sake, you know,
- 20:25Speaker 2: you and I always do the one to five scale,
- 20:27Speaker 2: and we do the point system here for pay per views.
- 20:30Speaker 2: If we were doing our one to five scale, what
- 20:33Speaker 2: would you give WW in twenty twenty four.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Four point five?
- 20:38Speaker 4: Think you would be like, right there on the cut, like,
- 20:41Speaker 4: to me, four point six to five is a plus.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Like anything right there in the middle is probably in
- 20:45Speaker 1: A So that's where I'm at.
- 20:47Speaker 2: See, I'm going like four point seven out of five, Okay, Yeah,
- 20:51Speaker 2: I mean I think it's been that good and I
- 20:54Speaker 2: want to give it a five or give it like
- 20:56Speaker 2: a four point nine out of five. But I think
- 20:58Speaker 2: four point seven for me is pretty solid. So I
- 21:00Speaker 2: give it a four point seven. You give it a
- 21:02Speaker 2: four point five, and then I guess going back to
- 21:05Speaker 2: wrestling in general in twenty twenty four, since we gave
- 21:08Speaker 2: a letter grade, just to go back to that real
- 21:09Speaker 2: quick before we talk about AW. I think I would
- 21:12Speaker 2: give professional wrestling as a whole as a whole like
- 21:15Speaker 2: four point.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Two out of five.
- 21:17Speaker 4: That's yeah, because I was trying to do my math
- 21:19Speaker 4: and I was like, I'd be right around at four
- 21:21Speaker 4: point one four point two because I said a minus,
- 21:24Speaker 4: so I have to be a little bit below you,
- 21:26Speaker 4: so like four point one, which I'm sure once we
- 21:30Speaker 4: start ranking on of these other promotions you'll see the
- 21:33Speaker 4: discrepancy of why the number for wrestling as a whole
- 21:37Speaker 4: is a little less than what WWE is.
- 21:40Speaker 2: So let's do it. Let's switch gears here, all a wrestling.
- 21:43Speaker 2: In twenty twenty four, there were high expectations for AW.
- 21:47Speaker 2: There was the belief that they were going to be
- 21:48Speaker 2: signing a lot of free agents. One we knew going
- 21:51Speaker 2: into twenty twenty four, and that was will Osprey's that
- 21:53Speaker 2: that was announced at full year twenty twenty three. The
- 21:56Speaker 2: belief going into twenty twenty four was because It'scocata and
- 22:00Speaker 2: I think at that point the beginning the year, Mercedes
- 22:02Speaker 2: Monee was rumored to potentially be going to AW as
- 22:05Speaker 2: well as WU, and then I think as the month
- 22:07Speaker 2: of January went on or early stages of twenty twenty four,
- 22:10Speaker 2: it was quickly understood that Mercedes Monet, the former Sasha Banks,
- 22:14Speaker 2: is going to be headed to all Lead Wrestling. It
- 22:16Speaker 2: has been an up and down year Doctor Trey for
- 22:20Speaker 2: all Elite Wrestling, ebbs and flows. I would say from
- 22:24Speaker 2: the start of the year till about Revolution it was okay,
- 22:28Speaker 2: it was mediocre. From Revolution till about all in London
- 22:32Speaker 2: it was very good. I thought it was a good,
- 22:35Speaker 2: solid show, lots of good builds, lots of good feuds.
- 22:37Speaker 2: It was people were in position that we wanted to
- 22:39Speaker 2: see whether it was swerved strickling with the World Championship
- 22:43Speaker 2: will Ost Brown the Rise is International Champion, and then
- 22:46Speaker 2: from all in to present day it has completely fallen
- 22:51Speaker 2: off a cliff. Viewership is down, creative is down. The
- 22:57Speaker 2: matches are still good and solid, the show at times
- 23:01Speaker 2: pulling teeth and hard to get through. I mean we
- 23:05Speaker 2: were talking about two three weeks ago about no longer
- 23:09Speaker 2: even recapping or previewing aw pay per views because it's
- 23:12Speaker 2: so bad. Viewership has gone down dramatically. They were in
- 23:17Speaker 2: the five hundred thousands for Dynamite rampages like one twenty
- 23:21Speaker 2: five and I saw recently was a little over two hundred.
- 23:24Speaker 2: I want to say Collision has hit the threes over
- 23:28Speaker 2: the last short while three hundred k which is down
- 23:32Speaker 2: as well. Attendance has been a known problem for the
- 23:36Speaker 2: most part, give or take. There's been some markets that
- 23:38Speaker 2: they've gone in where they've had a good, solid showing,
- 23:41Speaker 2: like at Full Gear in New Jersey they had a good,
- 23:43Speaker 2: solid show. Grand Slam had over eight thousand, but at
- 23:47Speaker 2: one point Grand Slam of New York City had over
- 23:49Speaker 2: twenty thousand people in Queens, New York. It has been
- 23:54Speaker 2: an up and down year. And when I think of
- 23:56Speaker 2: all the wrestling Doctor Trey, I think it all lays
- 23:59Speaker 2: at the feet of the owner and the head of
- 24:02Speaker 2: creative of the company, and that is Won Tony Khan.
- 24:05Speaker 2: There have been some stories as of late that have
- 24:07Speaker 2: not shed him or his company good light, most notably
- 24:10Speaker 2: the Rave Phoenix situation. There was something where I read
- 24:14Speaker 2: from Brian Alvarez that people were up in arms that
- 24:18Speaker 2: Tony Storms returned to all lead wrestling when she came
- 24:21Speaker 2: back at the end of Dynamite after Maria made if
- 24:24Speaker 2: he didn't mirror Shari Kawa Mina Shirakawa during Dynamite. They
- 24:29Speaker 2: were shocked that her first match back would be on
- 24:31Speaker 2: Rampage on Friday. And I think there was something that
- 24:34Speaker 2: Alvarez said where if there was a line of two
- 24:37Speaker 2: hundred employees and they all said, do not have her
- 24:39Speaker 2: match on rampage, put it on a collision put on
- 24:41Speaker 2: the following week of Dynamite, Tony Kahan still would have
- 24:44Speaker 2: done what he wanted to do, and that was put
- 24:46Speaker 2: it on rampage. And that, to me was like listening
- 24:49Speaker 2: and looking at a story of about vincick Mann, and
- 24:54Speaker 2: at some point along the way it appears outside looking
- 24:58Speaker 2: in the creative all elite rests of Olie Wrestling stopped
- 25:01Speaker 2: listening to the fan base and started doing stuff that
- 25:04Speaker 2: makes no sense. I think the Brian Danielson aw World
- 25:09Speaker 2: title reign was a failure and just a way for
- 25:11Speaker 2: Tony Kanna put the championship on him before he retires
- 25:15Speaker 2: the full time wrestler. That reports out there that Brian
- 25:19Speaker 2: Danielson did not even want the championship. There's been curious
- 25:23Speaker 2: booking where will Ospray for a good portion of the
- 25:27Speaker 2: year was in line to win Wrestler of the Year
- 25:30Speaker 2: and then since like August September, they've booked him not
- 25:35Speaker 2: as strong. I like that he's putting over his friends
- 25:38Speaker 2: like Kyle Fletcher, and Kyle Fletcher has a very bright future.
- 25:41Speaker 2: But it's like, what are we doing here? Like Ospray
- 25:44Speaker 2: no world title reign in twenty twenty four and Olie
- 25:47Speaker 2: Wrestling his mind blowing mgff's return. You thought it would
- 25:50Speaker 2: give it a shot in the arm, but he hasn't
- 25:52Speaker 2: been on television all that much. He's been filming movies. Reportedly,
- 25:57Speaker 2: he and Adam Cole, which was the big storyline in
- 26:00Speaker 2: twenty twenty three, towards the end, they have now swapped
- 26:04Speaker 2: positions where Adam Cole is no longer the heal he's
- 26:07Speaker 2: the baby face in MJF is no longer the babyface
- 26:10Speaker 2: and heeds the heel, And it's like, why do I
- 26:13Speaker 2: give a crap about this if they've completely reversed a
- 26:16Speaker 2: year later? Nonetheless, Doctor Trey, it's just a disappointing year
- 26:22Speaker 2: overall for all EAT Wrestling, and one that's like reaching
- 26:26Speaker 2: a breaking point for me as a fan in twenty
- 26:29Speaker 2: twenty five, Like am I going to continue to watch
- 26:31Speaker 2: the show front to back each and every week or
- 26:33Speaker 2: will it be something I'll just check out on YouTube
- 26:36Speaker 2: for the highlights and then try to see the news
- 26:39Speaker 2: on the wrestling websites or on X whatever. It has
- 26:43Speaker 2: been a confusing, twisting, windy road for All EAT Wrestling,
- 26:49Speaker 2: and a road that is ending this year on a
- 26:52Speaker 2: very sour note for me. It has been a trip
- 26:56Speaker 2: for AW this year, Doctor Trey.
- 26:59Speaker 4: Yeah, Like, I think I have been harder on AW
- 27:02Speaker 4: over the years than you have, and this year I
- 27:06Speaker 4: don't want to say it was my breaking point, but
- 27:08Speaker 4: really right now with AW, I'm in prove me wrong
- 27:12Speaker 4: face with him, like, prove me wrong. Like right now,
- 27:15Speaker 4: I don't have a ton of interest in your product.
- 27:17Speaker 4: There's there's certain people I am fans of, but as
- 27:20Speaker 4: a product as a whole, I'm not a fan of it.
- 27:23Speaker 4: It's confusing at times, it doesn't make sense, there's no consistency,
- 27:29Speaker 4: it's you know, everything that at times drove us nuts
- 27:33Speaker 4: about the Vince McMann era. And we had that conversation
- 27:37Speaker 4: last week or a weekuld go like, has Tony Kahan
- 27:40Speaker 4: become what he said he was against? And that's basically
- 27:44Speaker 4: Vince McMahon. And I think there are aspects of AW
- 27:49Speaker 4: that remind me of you go see a movie like Anchorman.
- 27:54Speaker 4: Anchorman's a great example, Like I love the first Anchorman,
- 27:56Speaker 4: but then the second one they basically just did over
- 28:00Speaker 4: did all the good little jokes from the first movie
- 28:02Speaker 4: and bran into the ground Austin powers Those was the
- 28:05Speaker 4: same thing. I feel like at times, AW has become
- 28:09Speaker 4: a victim of itself, Like some of the stuff that
- 28:11Speaker 4: they thought that made them successful early on, they've overdone
- 28:16Speaker 4: it or ran it into the ground. And some of
- 28:18Speaker 4: it is their stubbornness and their unwillingness to adapt or change.
- 28:23Speaker 4: But you see, like for the last five years, we've
- 28:26Speaker 4: seen these guys get these start and stop pushes, and
- 28:29Speaker 4: you know, they get really hot, and then they're not
- 28:31Speaker 4: on TV for two or three months, and you know
- 28:34Speaker 4: their human relations talent standpoint of how they handle stuff
- 28:39Speaker 4: has been atrociously for the last three or four years.
- 28:43Speaker 4: And you start hearing these stories about how guys are like, man,
- 28:45Speaker 4: I haven't heard anybody from the company call me in
- 28:47Speaker 4: two or three months, but they're paying these guys, Like
- 28:51Speaker 4: there are just things about this company that absolutely drive
- 28:54Speaker 4: me nuts. When it comes to the simple stuff like
- 28:59Speaker 4: taking care of your foster storytelling, mapping out character arc
- 29:04Speaker 4: and developments, and who's a babyface and who's a heel,
- 29:08Speaker 4: and how you don't have to shift everybody around all
- 29:12Speaker 4: the time. You make subtle adjustments and kind of let
- 29:16Speaker 4: the crowd dictate it. The n ring work of AAW
- 29:19Speaker 4: has never been the issue. And that's one of the
- 29:21Speaker 4: things that you said that is really kind of frustrating
- 29:26Speaker 4: for me as well. So when I get on the
- 29:27Speaker 4: message boards and I see people talking about and the
- 29:30Speaker 4: diehard AW fans are like, oh, no, it's all about
- 29:35Speaker 4: the n ring work, and I'm like, no, Like, you
- 29:37Speaker 4: have to give me a reason to care about this,
- 29:40Speaker 4: Like right now, like as we talk, there's an NBA
- 29:43Speaker 4: game on my television. I don't know other than one
- 29:47Speaker 4: person on Oklahoma City and I think I know two
- 29:50Speaker 4: on Milwaukee.
- 29:52Speaker 1: The athleticism is great, but I don't know these people,
- 29:55Speaker 1: So why do I care?
- 29:56Speaker 4: And I think that's what the difference between WW and
- 29:59Speaker 4: a AW has become, where yeah, the athleticism and aw's fantastic,
- 30:03Speaker 4: but give me a reason to care about your product.
- 30:06Speaker 4: And I just right now, I just don't care, Like
- 30:09Speaker 4: you have to give me a reason to care, And
- 30:12Speaker 4: just when I think somebody's about to take off and
- 30:15Speaker 4: really grab me and maybe bring me back to the
- 30:17Speaker 4: product as a whole, they shut them down, or they
- 30:20Speaker 4: book them badly, or they take them off television, and
- 30:24Speaker 4: then I'm just like left hanging like all right, I'm look,
- 30:27Speaker 4: there are people I love John Moxley, I love Claudio Cassagnolia,
- 30:31Speaker 4: and Chris Jericho is still fan Chris Jericho, Ospray, you know,
- 30:34Speaker 4: Okata h Swerve, like all these guys like I'm fans
- 30:38Speaker 4: of and like even right now, like everything these guys
- 30:41Speaker 4: are getting involved in starts off great and then just
- 30:43Speaker 4: kind of flounders and flops and then you're just like,
- 30:46Speaker 4: I'm kind of.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Bored with it.
- 30:47Speaker 4: So it's it's a really really frustrating time to continuously
- 30:53Speaker 4: go back in. It's like being an abusive relationship, like
- 30:56Speaker 4: it comes to adew comes around and tells me I'm
- 30:58Speaker 4: pretty and how much they care about me, and then
- 31:00Speaker 4: three days later they're punching me in the eye.
- 31:02Speaker 1: It's frustrating.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it's very frustrating, and I think for people who
- 31:07Speaker 2: enjoy aw like myself, it's just been a rocky road
- 31:11Speaker 2: where I mean there were points I mean, I've been
- 31:13Speaker 2: talking about for a long time and like Rampage is unwatchable,
- 31:16Speaker 2: Collision has points, and it's like it's almost getting to
- 31:19Speaker 2: be unwatchable, and then Dynamite was the solid show, and
- 31:23Speaker 2: it's like the stuff that they've put their eggs in
- 31:26Speaker 2: in the basket in the second half of twenty twenty
- 31:28Speaker 2: four is like mind blowing. It's like, why wouldn't they
- 31:31Speaker 2: let Swerve keep going? Why wouldn't they let Osprey keep going?
- 31:34Speaker 2: Why wouldn't they let Hangman and Swerve keep going? Like
- 31:38Speaker 2: why are we doing death writers? Like death writers? I mean,
- 31:41Speaker 2: I said it during Full Gear. I'm like, I just
- 31:43Speaker 2: think this angle is completely boring. I have zero interest
- 31:46Speaker 2: in it. And this is coming from a guy that
- 31:48Speaker 2: really likes John Moxley, Like Moxley is one of my
- 31:51Speaker 2: favorite guys to watch professional wrestling today, and this angle
- 31:53Speaker 2: is not for him. This character is not for him.
- 31:56Speaker 2: It is so freaking boring. It's not good. It's it's
- 32:01Speaker 2: it's been a rough rough year for AW overall. On
- 32:05Speaker 2: these last four or five months, Doctor Trey. I mean,
- 32:08Speaker 2: even with some of the stuff that we would watch
- 32:09Speaker 2: back in the day with w W, I think these
- 32:12Speaker 2: last four months. Like from all in to now, maybe
- 32:17Speaker 2: it's been some of the worst professional wrestling we've ever
- 32:20Speaker 2: covered in SRTU history. And I'm not talking about the
- 32:22Speaker 2: entering product. I think as an overall product, I think
- 32:26Speaker 2: it's some of the most non entertaining, boring stuff I've seen.
- 32:32Speaker 4: I think it would be September of twenty twelve when
- 32:36Speaker 4: you and I were covering WWE, and I remember these
- 32:38Speaker 4: conversations like I don't know if I can watch the show,
- 32:41Speaker 4: and that was that. That was that fall, that late
- 32:45Speaker 4: summer early fall where like everybody on the roster got hurts,
- 32:50Speaker 4: like Orton was out or suspended for a drug violation,
- 32:53Speaker 4: like everybody was out. Uh, and it was really really bad.
- 32:57Speaker 4: And in those times there's been where we weren't really
- 33:01Speaker 4: enjoying the product. But this is really in the fourteen
- 33:05Speaker 4: fifteen years of doing the show, only the second time
- 33:08Speaker 4: that I can remember you and I having the discussion
- 33:10Speaker 4: of should we stop watching this show? And that kind
- 33:15Speaker 4: of tells you how bad it's been over the last
- 33:17Speaker 4: four or five months. I mean, you and I sat here,
- 33:20Speaker 4: it was a week ago, and we were talking about
- 33:22Speaker 4: the Kyle Fletcher push and how refreshing it, Like, I mean,
- 33:27Speaker 4: the guy beat Okata and Osprey in a matter of
- 33:31Speaker 4: two weeks, and I legitimately remember telling you you watch,
- 33:36Speaker 4: he'll they'll probably have him lose to Briscoe or something
- 33:39Speaker 4: for no reason.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Out of nowhere, and they did it.
- 33:42Speaker 4: It's like you have a man beat two of the
- 33:45Speaker 4: greatest pro wrestlers in the world, and his first loss
- 33:50Speaker 4: off that is Mark Briskow. No, I'm not disrespecting Mark
- 33:53Speaker 4: brisco but in the concept of where the AAW hierarchy is,
- 33:58Speaker 4: he's not a top guy. Why are you having a
- 34:01Speaker 4: guy lose his first match after beating Okata and Ospray
- 34:05Speaker 4: to a guy who's not a top guy.
- 34:08Speaker 1: That's really bad booking.
- 34:10Speaker 4: And it's stuff like that that drive normal wrestling fans nuts, Like,
- 34:18Speaker 4: you know, like what they're doing with Ethan Page and
- 34:21Speaker 4: X having him lose some matches, like that's a little
- 34:23Speaker 4: bit more storytelling, but it's not like like we're not
- 34:26Speaker 4: pushing Ethan to the moon and then have him lose
- 34:29Speaker 4: a fluke match to Lucas Christofino. You know, it's like
- 34:33Speaker 4: it doesn't make sense, and that's when people like you
- 34:36Speaker 4: and me start checking out on it. Is because it
- 34:40Speaker 4: doesn't make sense at all to have him lose to
- 34:43Speaker 4: Mark Briscoe, the guy you're pushing the moon beats to
- 34:45Speaker 4: the best of the and then you lose Mark Brooks.
- 34:47Speaker 4: That's why it drives people like me and Jeff absolutely
- 34:51Speaker 4: insane what they do at times.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Well. The other thing two that I think you got
- 34:55Speaker 2: to think about as longtime wrestling fans is that I
- 34:58Speaker 2: don't have any of this like deep seated loyalty to AW.
- 35:02Speaker 2: I've watched every show and every pay per view they've
- 35:04Speaker 2: had since twenty nineteen. But with WWE, I've been watching
- 35:09Speaker 2: every show and every pay per view since nineteen ninety four,
- 35:13Speaker 2: and previous to that, it'd be intermittently as a kid,
- 35:15Speaker 2: like ninety one to ninety four, I would watch it,
- 35:18Speaker 2: you know, in and out, and then ninety four was
- 35:20Speaker 2: like that year where I really started watching professional wrestling religiously.
- 35:23Speaker 2: So I have this loyalty for WWE that they have
- 35:27Speaker 2: a leash, a very long leash where if they keep
- 35:30Speaker 2: on fooling me and it's like, all right, well, now
- 35:32Speaker 2: if I stop watching WE, I'm not gonna watch wrestling
- 35:34Speaker 2: in general anymore. With AW, it's the leash for loyalty
- 35:38Speaker 2: is really small and short, and it reminds me personally
- 35:43Speaker 2: of how I treated TNA Wrestling the early two thousands.
- 35:46Speaker 2: From like two thousand and two to about two thousand
- 35:48Speaker 2: and six, I would watch TNA pretty regularly, and then
- 35:51Speaker 2: as time went on, it just dwindled and dwindled and dwindled.
- 35:55Speaker 2: And there's been times where I picked it back up,
- 35:57Speaker 2: like in twenty twenty. I certainly keep an eye on
- 35:59Speaker 2: it right now, and I know they're doing good, but
- 36:01Speaker 2: I don't watch the show consistently. I don't watch the
- 36:03Speaker 2: show really at all. I just kind of, you know't
- 36:06Speaker 2: hear about what's going on in the peripheral. So it's
- 36:10Speaker 2: it's like, does AW fall in that TNA gap for me?
- 36:13Speaker 2: And it's a possibility. I don't want it to be
- 36:16Speaker 2: because we need a good, solid number two in professional wrestling,
- 36:19Speaker 2: and AW performing really, really well is good overall for
- 36:25Speaker 2: professional wrestling. So I am cheering them on, but it's like, Christ,
- 36:29Speaker 2: you guys have got to pick up it up right here,
- 36:31Speaker 2: right now, because it's like fool me one, shame on me,
- 36:34Speaker 2: fool me twice maybe over Doctor Tray. So rough year
- 36:38Speaker 2: for twenty twenty four rough year for aw in twenty
- 36:42Speaker 2: twenty four. Let's give our rating on this doctor Trey
- 36:46Speaker 2: our one to five scale. I guess i'll start with you.
- 36:50Speaker 2: What would you give is the numeric rating here for
- 36:53Speaker 2: aw in twenty twenty four.
- 36:55Speaker 4: It's almost in a way, it's almost like a tail
- 36:57Speaker 4: of two halves. I think the first half of the
- 36:59Speaker 4: year there was a it was a good product. The
- 37:02Speaker 4: last half was really really bad. Three point two. Maybe
- 37:07Speaker 4: that's like a C like B minus C. Is that
- 37:10Speaker 4: is that where we companus B minus C three point two.
- 37:13Speaker 2: See it's I was gonna go three point two, and
- 37:15Speaker 2: I was thinking that was gonna be really low. So
- 37:17Speaker 2: I was intrigued to hear what you had to say.
- 37:19Speaker 2: But since you said three point two, I'm on the
- 37:21Speaker 2: same wavelength there. I think three point two was very fair.
- 37:24Speaker 2: I think that's like a C minus letter grade.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Yeah, like to me, like, well one to five.
- 37:29Speaker 4: You look at and say, okay, well if you went
- 37:31Speaker 4: to A three A three B the middle as A
- 37:33Speaker 4: C the middle.
- 37:34Speaker 1: So I was like B minus C like it.
- 37:37Speaker 4: Like I said, if the first half of the the
- 37:39Speaker 4: first half the year, I would have given them a
- 37:41Speaker 4: B B plus. But yeah, man, the last five months
- 37:44Speaker 4: has it's been a D D minus Like it's borderline.
- 37:49Speaker 4: I mean, we talked about it's borderline unwatchable at times,
- 37:51Speaker 4: and and once again, it's not the athleticism, like these
- 37:55Speaker 4: guys are crazy good in the ring, it's just all the.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Other stuff that go was on around.
- 38:00Speaker 4: It has just been a nightmare of the last five,
- 38:05Speaker 4: like four or five months of aw.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Doctor Trey for people who are you know, longtime wrestling
- 38:10Speaker 2: fans here, I literally think the way you're describing it
- 38:13Speaker 2: reminds me so much of TNA in the two thousands,
- 38:16Speaker 2: Like in ring stuff was really good, but the creative
- 38:20Speaker 2: overall it was like meh, and I know you were
- 38:22Speaker 2: always referred to as the TNA guy, but that's how
- 38:24Speaker 2: much That's what it reminds me of right now. Is
- 38:27Speaker 2: like TNA in that mid two thousands, late two thousands
- 38:31Speaker 2: into twenty ten's range.
- 38:32Speaker 1: It was the Hogan Bischoff era of TNA.
- 38:36Speaker 2: That really killed it. But at that point I felt
- 38:38Speaker 2: like prior to it, they were grasping for straws to
- 38:40Speaker 2: find an identity.
- 38:42Speaker 4: Yeah, like and and I feel that way with AADW
- 38:45Speaker 4: Like if you were to tell a wrestling family like
- 38:48Speaker 4: you if you describe AAW to somebody, like, how would
- 38:50Speaker 4: you describe AAW Like it's great gymnastics, it's great, Like
- 38:55Speaker 4: I don't know, it's it's it's a movie that has
- 38:58Speaker 4: all the great special efet but nobody you know is
- 39:01Speaker 4: in it and the script is got awful.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Well, no, there are people you know that's in there,
- 39:06Speaker 2: like you wouldn't hey remember Chris Jericho.
- 39:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it's it's Remember when you would go
- 39:11Speaker 4: to red Box and you'd see a movie and it'd
- 39:15Speaker 4: be Bruce Willis in the movie, and you're like, Okay,
- 39:16Speaker 4: I know Bruce Willis, I don't know anybody else.
- 39:20Speaker 1: The explosions look kind of cool. But then you watch and.
- 39:23Speaker 4: You're like, yeah, I just wasted an hour and a
- 39:24Speaker 4: half of my life. Bruce was in it for a
- 39:27Speaker 4: pay day. Like it's just it's it's at times WCW
- 39:32Speaker 4: in two thousand era bad. That's how bad AW is
- 39:35Speaker 4: because I'm old enough to remember that. Like we have
- 39:37Speaker 4: listeners on the show, Jeff, you know, we have people
- 39:39Speaker 4: who listen to the show that don't remember w CW.
- 39:42Speaker 4: They were born WCW when they had that magnificent magnificent
- 39:47Speaker 4: seven Yeah, that was after new Blood when you had
- 39:51Speaker 4: like Rick Steiner and Rick Flair were in a group together,
- 39:54Speaker 4: like it was really really bad.
- 39:56Speaker 2: Well it was new Blood versus Magnificent Seven.
- 39:59Speaker 1: No, it was New Blo versus Millionaire's Club.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Oh, yes, you're right, yes, yes, yes, yes.
- 40:04Speaker 4: Then after that, the last ditch or last ditch group
- 40:08Speaker 4: was the Magnificent Seven. And that's kind of like, yeah,
- 40:11Speaker 4: they're closing up shops soon. I'm not at that point.
- 40:13Speaker 4: AW is not going out of business unless unless shat
- 40:17Speaker 4: Cohn decides that. You know, I mean, you got to
- 40:19Speaker 4: deal with Max. You got all these deals going on,
- 40:22Speaker 4: there's a market for it. It's just you almost feel
- 40:26Speaker 4: like it's just a rich kid playing with toys and
- 40:28Speaker 4: he doesn't really care what anybody else thinks. And that's
- 40:32Speaker 4: the arrogance of it all is also frustrating.
- 40:35Speaker 2: I don't think there's anything more than I can say
- 40:37Speaker 2: to that, doctor Trey. I think that was spot on,
- 40:39Speaker 2: and I think that was perfect. And it's funny that
- 40:41Speaker 2: you said that, because I was thinking that to myself
- 40:43Speaker 2: when I was thinking about prepping for this show today.
- 40:46Speaker 2: So spot on AW in twenty twenty four, perfect way
- 40:51Speaker 2: to wrap it. Up With that said, so we've looked
- 40:55Speaker 2: back at everything here from professional wrestling as a whole,
- 40:57Speaker 2: WWE is a whole, Aw's a hoole in twenty twenty.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Now it is time to open up the vault of SRTU.
- 41:05Speaker 2: We will go back to the first episode of twenty
- 41:08Speaker 2: twenty four. It was episode number seven hundred and twenty
- 41:10Speaker 2: five on January the fourth. We're going to listen back
- 41:14Speaker 2: to our bold predictions and our wrestlem Any forty card
- 41:16Speaker 2: predictions from the first show of the year. This is
- 41:19Speaker 2: something that both and I, both Doctor Trey and I dread,
- 41:22Speaker 2: but it's time for us to do it. Doctor Trey,
- 41:24Speaker 2: let me open up the vault and take a listen
- 41:27Speaker 2: back to our first episode of twenty twenty four on
- 41:29Speaker 2: January the fourth, episode number seven hundred and twenty five. Now,
- 41:37Speaker 2: Doctor Trey, it is time to get ready for our
- 41:41Speaker 2: five bowld predictions for twenty twenty four and our wrestle
- 41:44Speaker 2: Any of forty card predictions. Are you ready for this?
- 41:47Speaker 2: Are you nervous? Are you scared? Are you excited? How
- 41:50Speaker 2: do you feel before we get into it?
- 41:52Speaker 4: So it was funny like a couple weeks ago, like
- 41:54Speaker 4: Jeff brings us all time that I hate this show
- 41:57Speaker 4: because I have to listen back to it, and I
- 41:59Speaker 4: really hate my boy and I have sinus congestion really bad,
- 42:03Speaker 4: so I think my voice like I hear it echoing
- 42:05Speaker 4: in my head, which makes this even worse. Plus, we
- 42:09Speaker 4: have had almost zero success with bull predictions for the
- 42:13Speaker 4: last two years, so like we were literally cutting quarter
- 42:16Speaker 4: points at half points just to give ourselves some credits
- 42:18Speaker 4: so we don't get zeros. So absolutely nervous and terrified,
- 42:22Speaker 4: but it's going to be fun because I always love
- 42:24Speaker 4: hearing what you come up with. I don't know if
- 42:26Speaker 4: you think the same way about me, but this is
- 42:28Speaker 4: actually one of my favorite things we do as far
- 42:31Speaker 4: as just fantasy booking, creative, just weird crap that Jeff
- 42:36Speaker 4: and I come up with for our bull predictions.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I love doing this because it's is it
- 42:43Speaker 2: our stuff that like on the probability of actually happening
- 42:46Speaker 2: as a prediction? Is it really high? Is it in
- 42:47Speaker 2: the middle, is it really low? Like how crazy did
- 42:50Speaker 2: we get? How oh okay, I could see that happening?
- 42:53Speaker 1: Did we get?
- 42:54Speaker 2: It's a really fun thing that we do. Here we
- 42:57Speaker 2: recapped our bull predictions from the first show last year
- 43:01Speaker 2: two weeks ago, and Doctor Trey, we gave the victory
- 43:05Speaker 2: two and that one when it came to all encompassing
- 43:08Speaker 2: Bold Predictions and Wrestlmania thirty nine car predictions. We will
- 43:11Speaker 2: have to see how this sounds when we replay this
- 43:14Speaker 2: clip on December nineteenth of this year, the second last
- 43:19Speaker 2: to last show of the year, and recap our bold
- 43:21Speaker 2: predictions and WrestleMania forty card predictions on that edition of
- 43:26Speaker 2: the podcast. But right now, we're living in the moment,
- 43:28Speaker 2: Doctor Trey. This clip is now playing during the first
- 43:32Speaker 2: show of the year and the second to last show
- 43:34Speaker 2: of the year, and it's time to get to it,
- 43:36Speaker 2: my friend. Shall we begin with each of us going
- 43:39Speaker 2: through our bold predictions one through five?
- 43:42Speaker 1: Are we gonna do you want to go back and forth?
- 43:44Speaker 1: Or we're just gonna go straight through.
- 43:45Speaker 2: I think we've been going straight through the last couple
- 43:48Speaker 2: of years, and I think, why don't we do it again?
- 43:50Speaker 2: You want me to go first? Or do you want
- 43:51Speaker 2: to go first?
- 43:52Speaker 1: My I'm good, I got all my stuff here, so
- 43:54Speaker 1: I'll start first.
- 43:55Speaker 4: My first bold prediction is the one non entering storyline
- 44:01Speaker 4: Bowl Predictions, So my first one is that the newly
- 44:05Speaker 4: minted TKO Endeavor operation buys TNA Wrestling and decides to
- 44:13Speaker 4: operate as another traveling developmental brand, similar to what AW
- 44:18Speaker 4: did with Ring of Honor.
- 44:19Speaker 1: I can see Endeavor doing the same.
- 44:20Speaker 4: Thing with TNA and just basically one upping the Tony
- 44:24Speaker 4: Conn approach and leaving you know, Scott Demore in charge
- 44:26Speaker 4: of running the day to day operations, but another avenue
- 44:30Speaker 4: for ww to kind of get some extra revenue coming
- 44:33Speaker 4: in extra TV deal already in place, and heck, Endeavor
- 44:39Speaker 4: just announced not too long ago or it was announced
- 44:41Speaker 4: that they're going to start streaming TNA Wrestling through the
- 44:43Speaker 4: Endeavor platform, so it kind of makes sense on that
- 44:46Speaker 4: level as well. My number two Bowl prediction is everybody's
- 44:52Speaker 4: favorite wrestler right now. Yours and mine included Swerve Strickland
- 44:56Speaker 4: wins the AW Heavyweight Championship and the prints not on dance,
- 45:00Speaker 4: We'll take over social media. It is one of the
- 45:02Speaker 4: most entertaining duos we've seen in quite a while. Sworeve
- 45:07Speaker 4: is on it is approaching another level. I think he
- 45:10Speaker 4: keeps making that progression, and as much as I really
- 45:14Speaker 4: don't want other managers to be successful, out of just
- 45:16Speaker 4: spite and biases. Chris Na really is entertaining what that
- 45:19Speaker 4: dance he does coming out. My number three Bowl prediction
- 45:25Speaker 4: is that Adam Copeland turns heel and reunites with Christian
- 45:29Speaker 4: Cage to battle FTR for the newly minted US Canadian
- 45:33Speaker 4: Maple Leaf Brown Sugar.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Throw in one other other.
- 45:36Speaker 4: Title thing you want to tag team titles in AAW.
- 45:38Speaker 4: I mean, we have a surplus of belts available in AW,
- 45:42Speaker 4: but I do think Edge and Christian to reunite at
- 45:45Speaker 4: some point, And as much as I love cheering for them,
- 45:48Speaker 4: I think Christian Cage has been phenomenal as a heel.
- 45:52Speaker 4: Adam Copeland hasn't played the heeling quite some time, so
- 45:55Speaker 4: I think those two guys getting back together, reuniting E
- 45:59Speaker 4: n C under the C and C monitor to take
- 46:02Speaker 4: on FTR would be highly, highly enjoyable. My number four
- 46:06Speaker 4: ball prediction is that the Guns signed with WWE and
- 46:11Speaker 4: sided with Grayson Waller and Austin Theories who form Degeneration
- 46:15Speaker 4: NXT or Degeneration Next, however you want to phrase it.
- 46:19Speaker 1: It'd be some kind of cool thing there.
- 46:20Speaker 4: But the Guns are arguably one of the most entertaining
- 46:24Speaker 4: duos on television right now, along with the other members
- 46:27Speaker 4: of Bullet Club Gold. I think those guys are perfect
- 46:32Speaker 4: cadates for ww just like we saw with Brian Pilman
- 46:35Speaker 4: Junior recently. Just a young talent that they could bring
- 46:38Speaker 4: in mold as shape and their charisma level is off
- 46:42Speaker 4: the chart, so I could see them being paired with
- 46:44Speaker 4: Waller Theory, who are kind of like a young Shawn
- 46:46Speaker 4: Michaels and Triple H in their attitudes and basically reforming
- 46:51Speaker 4: or forming some version of Degeneration. Next, and finally, my
- 46:55Speaker 4: last bull prediction is kind of based on our award
- 46:59Speaker 4: show that Dominic Mysterial will win money in the Bank
- 47:04Speaker 4: and cash in on Daviian Priest, who cashed in earlier
- 47:07Speaker 4: on the show at Money in Bank to win the
- 47:09Speaker 4: WWE Heavyweight Championship. So I at this point, now we're
- 47:15Speaker 4: getting close to WrestleMania season, Davian Priest still has not
- 47:19Speaker 4: cashed in. It doesn't look like he's got an opportunity
- 47:22Speaker 4: to do, so I can see him cashing in literally
- 47:25Speaker 4: almost at the one year mark, and then Dominic cashes
- 47:29Speaker 4: in or wins money in the bank and then cashes
- 47:31Speaker 4: it on Davy and Priest the same night. So those
- 47:33Speaker 4: are my five bold predictions.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Oh that's really good man.
- 47:38Speaker 2: It's funny because at least two of them are very
- 47:43Speaker 2: similar in a way, or at least there's a mention
- 47:46Speaker 2: to mine. So beginning with my first ball prediction, I
- 47:50Speaker 2: have swerved Strickland, dethroning MJF and becoming the AW World Champion.
- 47:55Speaker 2: Hopefully that means MGF retained at world's end or this
- 47:58Speaker 2: bold prediction is already shot by the time this show airs,
- 48:03Speaker 2: So both Doctor Trey and I having swerved Strickland becoming
- 48:05Speaker 2: AW World Champion in twenty twenty four with our bold predictions.
- 48:09Speaker 2: My number two is that Kazachka Okada signs with WII
- 48:13Speaker 2: and takes on shins Key Nakamoor at WrestleMania forty. My
- 48:16Speaker 2: number three is that Cmpunk becomes the next Era or
- 48:20Speaker 2: the next wave of Raw or SmackDown performer to go
- 48:24Speaker 2: to NXT where he becomes the NXT Champion, helps build
- 48:28Speaker 2: up Eliot Dragonoff to eventually dethroned cm Punk and become
- 48:32Speaker 2: NXC champion again. My number four, similar to one of
- 48:36Speaker 2: Doctor Trey's, is that Damian Priest turns babyface when the
- 48:39Speaker 2: judgment date turns on him. Eventually cashing in is money
- 48:43Speaker 2: in the bank briefcase and becoming the WA World. They
- 48:46Speaker 2: have a weight champion. So Doctor Trey and I have
- 48:47Speaker 2: at some point, somehow, some way, Damian Priest cashes in
- 48:52Speaker 2: and becomes a WA World. They have aight champion. And
- 48:54Speaker 2: then my last bold predictions is that Mercedes Money signs
- 49:00Speaker 2: with TNA Wrestling and feuds with Trinity. There's some reports
- 49:04Speaker 2: out there right now that her stuff is with AW
- 49:07Speaker 2: has quieted down and has no more talk about Creative.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Everybody's pointing to w w EE for her to make
- 49:12Speaker 2: a return, maybe the Royal Rumble in a couple of weeks.
- 49:14Speaker 2: I'm saying she signs with TNA. Scott de Moore said
- 49:17Speaker 2: that they have a major surprise signing for TNA Wrestling,
- 49:21Speaker 2: and I think that's going to be Mercedes Mona. So
- 49:23Speaker 2: Doctor Trey, there are five bold predictions funny enough mentioned
- 49:28Speaker 2: to Swerve Strickland mentions of Damian Priest, at least both
- 49:31Speaker 2: of ours.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:33Speaker 4: By the way, if if Swerve does the thrown MGF,
- 49:36Speaker 4: I want a video of Jeff peg thing the Prince
- 49:37Speaker 4: not a dance, I can say it I can do it.
- 49:40Speaker 4: It's not a hard it's not so much to back
- 49:42Speaker 4: and forth. It's more the last so the last so
- 49:45Speaker 4: part is what I want to see.
- 49:46Speaker 2: Fair enough. I'm really good with the arms bobbing back
- 49:49Speaker 2: and forth. I'm actually doing it right now. If you
- 49:51Speaker 2: can hear me doing it, if you hear cracking, that's
- 49:54Speaker 2: my shoulders.
- 49:55Speaker 4: That's literally how I dance at most wrestling shows. Wait
- 49:58Speaker 4: like I man like somebody's somebody always has music playing
- 50:01Speaker 4: at what a Rocket City shows. When I started dancing
- 50:03Speaker 4: and then I realized, oh crap, I'm dancing and people
- 50:05Speaker 4: can see me.
- 50:05Speaker 1: I immediately stop, So that does happen.
- 50:08Speaker 4: I By the way, I love the Okada one because
- 50:10Speaker 4: as I was doing my WrestleMania card, I had a
- 50:13Speaker 4: hard time fighting subway for Shinzkate to wrestle, so that
- 50:16Speaker 4: works out perfectly.
- 50:18Speaker 1: I really really like that as well. So no solid
- 50:21Speaker 1: job on your prediction. We didn't go I don't think
- 50:23Speaker 1: we went too crazy.
- 50:26Speaker 4: Like nothing is completely out of the rebel possibility, but
- 50:31Speaker 4: they are legitimately bold predictions because they are stretches of
- 50:34Speaker 4: the imagination true.
- 50:36Speaker 2: And there's also the part of those are the things
- 50:38Speaker 2: that we want to see in twenty twenty four somehow,
- 50:41Speaker 2: some way, all right. WRESTLEMANI forty card predictions, Doctor Trey,
- 50:45Speaker 2: you went first with bold predictions. I will go first
- 50:48Speaker 2: with WRESTLEMANI forty card predictions. My first match is the
- 50:52Speaker 2: is that Roman Reigns defends the w W Universal Championship

- 52:34Speaker 2: Sarkinchanna Basler taken on Italian Tiaga Knox taken on Cancell
- 52:38Speaker 2: Ray and Indy Hartwell taken on Katana Chance and Caden Carter.
- 52:42Speaker 2: I have sixteen matches. That is my WrestleMania forty card prediction.
- 52:46Speaker 2: Doctor Trey.
- 52:48Speaker 4: Hello, So I think we're about the same number of
- 52:50Speaker 4: matches here. I was just making sure that we're we're
- 52:53Speaker 4: kind of here. So, oh, there's quite a few on
- 52:56Speaker 4: your card that are similar to mine, but then we
- 52:59Speaker 4: also have quite a differences as well. So, uh so
- 53:02Speaker 4: my wrestle Media card I have. Yeah, So, so apparently
- 53:12Speaker 4: Sammy was not happy if my wrestling. I think Sammy
- 53:14Speaker 4: just saw my wrestle Media card and decided it was horrible.
- 53:17Speaker 2: I can't believe he kept Nyah Jacks off the card.
- 53:20Speaker 1: It's literally what it is right now. So yeah, it's
- 53:27Speaker 1: right behind you, dude.
- 53:28Speaker 4: Okay, So my wrestle Media card, I have a Robot
- 53:31Speaker 4: Rays defending the Undisputed Championship against Cody Rhodes, who also
- 53:37Speaker 4: I have basically somehow some.
- 53:38Speaker 1: Way getting in through the elimination chamber. I have seth
- 53:41Speaker 1: Frickett Rawlins.
- 53:42Speaker 4: Defending the ww Heavyweight Championship against them Punk, who wins
- 53:45Speaker 4: the Rumble just because I think that's a great storytelling.
- 53:48Speaker 4: Concidered that that's when Punk left was after the Rumble
- 53:50Speaker 4: ten years ago. He then returns and now wins it UH.
- 53:53Speaker 4: For the United States Championship, I have Logan Paul defending
- 53:56Speaker 4: against l A Knight Uh for the I See. I
- 54:00Speaker 4: also oh the women's tag team titles. I have Chelsea
- 54:03Speaker 4: Green and Piper Nivin against the Kabuki Warriors versus Alba
- 54:06Speaker 4: Fire at Eila Down versus Natalia and Tiagan Knox. I
- 54:12Speaker 4: have A j Styles versus Randy Orton. I have Finned
- 54:15Speaker 4: Balladamian Priest defending the tag team title against d I
- 54:18Speaker 4: y Uh for the Well I don't know. The Women's
- 54:22Speaker 4: Championship on raw, I have Maria Ripley defending against Becky Lynch.
- 54:26Speaker 4: On the SmackDown side, I have EO Sky defending against Bailey,
- 54:29Speaker 4: who also wins the Rumble. I also have Jade Cargill
- 54:32Speaker 4: making her entering debut at WrestleMania versus Bianca bel Air,
- 54:37Speaker 4: Drew McIntyre versus Sammy Zain, Kevin Owens versus Bobby Lashley.
- 54:42Speaker 4: John Cena makes his return to Battle Solo Socoa. I
- 54:46Speaker 4: also have Gunther versus Brock Lezard for the inner candial title,
- 54:50Speaker 4: Bobby Lashley versus Seamus hits Ke, Knock, Amervs, the mizuh
- 54:54Speaker 4: I have a tag team gauntlet match, which at the
- 54:57Speaker 4: New day pretty deadly, the Viking War, the Viking Raiders,
- 55:01Speaker 4: the Creeds, alph Academy, and Imperium. And then I have
- 55:04Speaker 4: raymis Stereo and the rest of the LWO versus Santos Escobar,
- 55:08Speaker 4: Hulberto Korea and Angel Garza.
- 55:11Speaker 2: I like it. I like it, Doctor Trey My. The
- 55:15Speaker 2: person I had the hardest to predict their match was
- 55:19Speaker 2: actually La Knight. I nearly forgot him on my card.
- 55:22Speaker 2: Who was yours?
- 55:25Speaker 4: Mine was finding an opponent for Gunther like I wanted
- 55:28Speaker 4: to do Brock, Like, I just don't see that being
- 55:31Speaker 4: for the interconnial title, so I kept trying to figure
- 55:33Speaker 4: out a way to put the belt on somebody else first,
- 55:36Speaker 4: like Brock causes somebody to beat Gunther.
- 55:40Speaker 2: Uh.
- 55:41Speaker 4: So that was one, and then yeah, it was the
- 55:43Speaker 4: La Knight Kevin Owens, like who goes with who? And
- 55:46Speaker 4: I just think they werena do Kevin Owens and Logan
- 55:48Speaker 4: Paul at Rumble, and then La Knight and Logan Paul
- 55:51Speaker 4: at WrestleMania.
- 55:52Speaker 1: So that's kind of thought my thought process anyway.
- 55:55Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it makes sense. It makes sense. So there
- 55:57Speaker 2: you go. There is our five bold prediction and our
- 56:00Speaker 2: Wrestum of forty card predictions. We will reopen the vault
- 56:05Speaker 2: on December nineteenth, twenty twenty four, and we will see
- 56:09Speaker 2: how Doctor Trey and I did. So hopefully when we
- 56:12Speaker 2: go back in time and listen back to these predictions
- 56:16Speaker 2: and these match predictions, doctor Trey and I look like geniuses.
- 56:20Speaker 2: If not, we will continue to laugh at ourselves. So
- 56:24Speaker 2: there is our twenty twenty four five bowld predictions and
- 56:28Speaker 2: our Wrestum forty card predictions here on the first show
- 56:31Speaker 2: of twenty and twenty four. All right, doctor Trey, we
- 56:38Speaker 2: are back here on present day, December the nineteenth, this
- 56:42Speaker 2: week's edition of sr TU, and we've just played our
- 56:46Speaker 2: bold predictions and our wrestlemt forty card predictions from the
- 56:49Speaker 2: first show of the year back on January the fourth
- 56:51Speaker 2: Episomber seven hundred and twenty five. Here we are fifty
- 56:53Speaker 2: shows later EPISO number seven hundred and seventy five on
- 56:57Speaker 2: December nineteenth, and let's let's give out our here or
- 57:01Speaker 2: our points system that we tend to do each and
- 57:02Speaker 2: every year, and see how we did in our bold
- 57:05Speaker 2: predictions in our wrestling. Hey, forty car predictions. So let's
- 57:08Speaker 2: start with me. I had My first one was Swerve
- 57:11Speaker 2: Strickland Thrones MJF and becomes the AW World Champion. I
- 57:16Speaker 2: gave myself a half a point. Are we in agreement
- 57:18Speaker 2: on that?
- 57:19Speaker 1: Yep? But I gave you half a point as well, all.
- 57:21Speaker 2: Right because it's cod assigns with w W and takes
- 57:23Speaker 2: on Chinsky Nakamora. No points, so no reason to talk
- 57:26Speaker 2: about that. Siampunk becomes the NXC champion, helps build up
- 57:30Speaker 2: Iliot dragonoff to eventually become the NXC champion again. Zero
- 57:34Speaker 2: points on that. My fourth bold prediction, Damian Priest turns
- 57:38Speaker 2: baby face when the Judgment Day turns on him, eventually
- 57:41Speaker 2: cashes in his money in the bank briefcase and becomes
- 57:43Speaker 2: the w Worldweight Champion. It didn't work in that specific
- 57:49Speaker 2: way in that order, but I gave myself a point.
- 57:53Speaker 2: Is that fair?
- 57:54Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 57:54Speaker 4: The only thing I knocked you on a little bit
- 57:56Speaker 4: was the Judgment Day because I just came after. But
- 57:59Speaker 4: I still get gave you a full point because you
- 58:01Speaker 4: still the cash in the world title and judgment Day turning.
- 58:04Speaker 4: You just had the order a little bit wrong, but
- 58:06Speaker 4: it's a bold prediction, so if the orders a little
- 58:08Speaker 4: bit off, I'm fine with that.
- 58:09Speaker 1: I gave you a full point for it.
- 58:11Speaker 2: And then I had Mercedes Bonett signs with TNA Wrestling
- 58:13Speaker 2: in feudure with Trinity that received no points. Doctor Trey's
- 58:17Speaker 2: bold prediction TKO Group Holding spies TNA Wrestling and uses
- 58:22Speaker 2: it as a developmental brand. While I wish that came true,
- 58:25Speaker 2: it did not no points their.
- 58:29Speaker 1: Order.
- 58:30Speaker 4: I was to give myself a quarter because they are
- 58:32Speaker 4: using TNAP in a sense of his developmental because you're
- 58:35Speaker 4: seeing the Tatum pas Lee's and the Windy Choose.
- 58:38Speaker 2: I don't know if it's a they're not using as
- 58:41Speaker 2: a developmental brand. I think it's a partnership, yeah, but
- 58:44Speaker 2: it's it's it's yeah, I get I was. I was
- 58:48Speaker 2: just proud that I actually saw that TKO and TNA
- 58:50Speaker 2: work together.
- 58:51Speaker 1: So I was just happy with that.
- 58:52Speaker 2: So do you want to give it a quarter point?
- 58:54Speaker 2: I gave it no points. What do you want to do.
- 58:56Speaker 4: I'm just scraping by here because this is maybe the
- 58:59Speaker 4: worst year of bull dictions I had, so I was
- 59:01Speaker 4: just trying to find some kind of partial credit. This
- 59:03Speaker 4: is like you're failing the chemistry test and you're hoping
- 59:06Speaker 4: the teacher gives you points for getting your name right.
- 59:08Speaker 2: It's like extra credit. Uh Swearve Strickland wins the aw
- 59:12Speaker 2: World Championship and the Prince Nana dance takes over social media.
- 59:15Speaker 2: I gave that a half a point.
- 59:17Speaker 4: So what the not a dance didn't take over social
- 59:19Speaker 4: media because it kind of did for it for a
- 59:20Speaker 4: couple of weeks.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Unless I'm not tapped in there, I don't think it did.
- 59:25Speaker 2: Did it?
- 59:26Speaker 1: They literally had not teaching the dance to the guys.
- 59:29Speaker 4: I'm busted open a couple of weeks ago, So but yeah,
- 59:33Speaker 4: I'll take it half a point.
- 59:33Speaker 2: That's fun, all right, Adam, and I think you were
- 59:37Speaker 2: like wasted on this one. Adam Copeland turns heel and
- 59:40Speaker 2: teams with Christian Cage to battle FTR for the newly
- 59:43Speaker 2: minted aw US Canadian Maple Leaf Brown Sugar tag team titles.
- 59:49Speaker 1: I give that no points. Yeah, I got no points.
- 59:52Speaker 4: I would say if Copeland had not broken his leg,
- 59:55Speaker 4: that might still want to have happened.
- 59:56Speaker 1: But the tag team.
- 59:57Speaker 4: That was just me making fun of the fact that
- 59:59Speaker 4: AW as seventy five titles. But now ww's catching up,
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: so I guess I can't critique AW for having so
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: many titles when the other brand is doing the same thing.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: Now.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: The Guns signed with WE side with the Austin Theory
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: and Grayson Waller and formed D Generation Next. While I
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: would have loved that, I gave it no.
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: Points, no points, and I feel bad because Austin and
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: Colton are even on TV right now because one of
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: them's hurts.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Dominic Material wins money the Bank of cashes in on
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: Damian Presu Cashion earlier on The Money the Bank Show
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: to win the w World Everyway Championship. That would have
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: been pretty awesome to see doctor Trey, but unfortunately did
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: not happen. Zero points once again.
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: Yeah no, I, like I said, this was probably my
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: worst year. I think last year I had like two
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: two and a half points.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: The Actually I could look back here you last year,
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: all of our bold predictions weren't good, but overall you
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: won the bold predictions in WrestleMania thirty nine car predictions
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: by going five and a half points and I had four.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: Yeah, So like last year.
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: This is just like my predictions for twenty twenty four
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: as a whole were atrocious.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: Russmanni forty car predictions started with Doctor Trey first, Roman
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Reigns versus Cody Rhodes elimination Chamber winner for the w
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: World have aweight Championship. I gave it a half a
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: point because Cody didn't win the elimination chamber.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: Okay, that's fine.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: Seth Freak and Rollins versus Thempunk Royal Rumble winner for
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: the World Iavyweight Championship that did not happen. No points.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: Logan Paul versus La Knight for the United States Championship
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: didn't happen, no points, but it happened later in the year.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: So Chelsea Green and Piper Niven defending the WA Women's
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: SAC Team Championship against Oscar and Kyrie Sane versus Alba
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: Faar and Nila dn versus an Italian Teak and Knox
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: did not happen. Aj Styles versus Randy Orton did not happen.
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: Finn Balor and Damian Priest defend the undisputed of w
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: Tach Team Championship against DIY did not happen. Rhea Ripley
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: defending the Women's World Championship against Becky Lynch, the elimination
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: chamber winner. Did happen? I gave it one full point.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: Whoa EO Sky defending the WA Women's Championship against Bailey
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: who was the Royal Rumbele winner. That did happen? I
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: gave that one point.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: Yay me I got two two and a half.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: Jade car Gill versus Bianca bell Air did not happen.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: No points. Sammy's a versus Drew mcintar did not happen.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: No points. Kevin Owens versus Bobby Lastly didn't happen. No points.
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: Senor versus Solo Socoa, no points. Conta versus Brock and
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: their continal title. No points. Lastly versus Seamus no points.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: You had last down here twice. I guess he had.
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: I'm doing double duty, but that.
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: Might have been a typo somewhere, because I think I
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: think I had owned against Maybe I had twice.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: I can't remember Shin's getting Huck versus the Miss, no points.
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: New Day versus Pretty Deadly versus Viking Raiders versus Three
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Brothers versus alph Academy versus Imperium tag team Gauntlet match
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: did not happen. Ray, Miss Sternio and l W versus Santos,
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: Escobar m Berta Career and Angel Garza. I give that
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: a half a point out to try.
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: I can'try like honestly, I don't remember the entire wrestle
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: media carry.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: So it was Ray and Andrade versus Santos and Dominic.
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, so I had I had the two main
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: participants Ray in Santos together, So.
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I gave you half a point there. I think
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: that's fair. Roman Rains versus Cody Rhodes elimination Chamber winner.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: That was this is my wrestmat in forty car predictions.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: I gave that a half a point. Seth Freakin Ronins
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: versus CM punk Row Rumble winner that did not happen.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: No points. Conet versus Brock Intercontinental Championship, no point. Logan
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: Paul defended the United States Championship against Kevin Owens. That
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: was a half a point. Ria Ripley defending the Women's
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: World Championship against Becky Lynch, who was the elimination chamber.
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: I gave that one point. Eo Sky defending the WA
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: Women's Championship against Bailey the Royal Rumble Winner. I gave
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: that one point point. Uh what else? Here? Finn Baller
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: and Damien Priest versus The Street Profits versus Ausitherey and
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: Grayson Waller for the Unisputed the WA Tag Team Championship
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: did not happen, so I gave that no points. Jay
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: Us versus Jimmy USO did happen, so I gave that
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: a point. Sammy'sain versus Drew McIntyre no points. Chins Kannakare
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: versus Cssco Kata no points, Bianco Bella Ara and Shatzi
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: versus Oscar Kyrie Saint for the w Women's Tag Team Championship.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: No points. Rayisterio, Dragonly and Bad Bunny versus Santos Escobar, Dominic,
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: Mysterian and j D McDonough. I gave that no points,
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: though I probably could give it half a point, but
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: I'm gonna give it. No Orton and Solo no points.
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: Bobby Lashing and La Knight no points, Alpha Academy and
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: versus Diy versus The Creed Brothers versus Imperium Men's RUSSELMENI

- 1:05:02Speaker 2: fatal four way tag team match that did not happen,
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: no points. Going back to the Logan pol Kevin Owen stuff,
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: I gave that half a point because I ended up
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: being Logan Paul versus Kevin Owens and Randy Orton the
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: United States Championship match. So overall, Doctor Trey points for
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: twenty twenty four, I got four point five and you
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: got three point five.
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: Is that?
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: No? Not bad?
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: But I mean we've done I mean obviously you just
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: said we did better last year. So well, you've been consistent.
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: You got four point five last year, four point five
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: this year.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: I've been consistently bad.
- 1:05:38Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, mine mine took a nosedive, so I had
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: the aew collision ram bage run this year.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: So there you go, there you go.
