- 0:00Speaker 1: And welcome everybody. And we're back.
- 0:03Speaker 2: And we're back.
- 0:05Speaker 1: We'd like to welcome you to episode of the podcast
- 0:08Speaker 1: for episode 203. And welcome to, for the first time,
- 0:12Speaker 1: the legendary Ava Bunn. Thunderous applause.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Thanks, guys.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Welcome to the podcast, Ava.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Thank you, Sarah.
- 0:20Speaker 1: You didn't even know this studio was here, did you?
- 0:22Speaker 3: No, I didn't know we had an upstairs.
- 0:24Speaker 1: You didn't know we had an upstairs?
- 0:25Speaker 4: I didn't either.
- 0:26Speaker 2: When I came here last night, they were like, yeah,
- 0:28Speaker 2: it's upstairs.
- 0:28Speaker 5: I was like, we have an upstairs.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Oh, there's another level.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Before we converted this, it was where I would do
- 0:33Speaker 1: the voiceovers. It was just a room with a mic.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Oh, I see.
- 0:36Speaker 1: And then Roger Fires and his team, our production designer,
- 0:39Speaker 1: built this beautiful studio for us.
- 0:41Speaker 5: While we're at it, we should say we have Sarah
- 0:43Speaker 5: Chalk on the show today.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I'm the legendary Sarah Chalk. Thunderous applause. Sarah, thank you
- 0:46Speaker 1: for coming back.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Oh, thanks for having me.
- 0:48Speaker 1: You were so delightful in episodes one and two of
- 0:50Speaker 1: the podcast.
- 0:51Speaker 4: I loved being here.
- 0:52Speaker 5: And all the way in Los Angeles, California, the one
- 0:56Speaker 5: and only Joelle Monique.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Yes. And Joelle, make sure they play your theme song
- 1:00Speaker 1: right here. Joelle also has a theme song. Oh, my God.
- 1:04Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:05Speaker 1: All right. So, welcome, everybody.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Thanks.
- 1:10Speaker 1: And we're going to talk about episode 203 today.
- 1:13Speaker 5: I didn't have my notes.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Donald, audience, you know, we take copious notes. And Donald
- 1:19Speaker 1: left his.
- 1:20Speaker 5: I left my notes at home.
- 1:21Speaker 1: At home. Listeners of the podcast from before might not
- 1:24Speaker 1: be surprised that you did that.
- 1:25Speaker 5: This has happened before. Yes.
- 1:27Speaker 4: But you remember donuts. He brought us donuts.
- 1:29Speaker 5: I did bring the donuts.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Which were amazing.
- 1:31Speaker 1: What was the thought process when you left your notes
- 1:33Speaker 1: at home?
- 1:34Speaker 5: Well, we're leaving after this. So I was packing up
- 1:36Speaker 5: all of my stuff to... For the airport.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Was there any ganja involved this morning?
- 1:43Speaker 5: There's always ganja involved when we do.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Do you think that ganja may have played a part?
- 1:50Speaker 5: I'm sure it's played a part. I'm sure it played
- 1:52Speaker 5: a part.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Kids, not even once. Kids, not even once.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Can you hit the bong head sound effect?
- 1:57Speaker 5: Kids, if you're watching this, we need to talk to
- 1:59Speaker 5: your parents about the things that you are allowed to watch.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Well, kids, this is why Donald doesn't have his notes.
- 2:05Speaker 6: Kids.
- 2:10Speaker 5: That's not why. I said it's partially. The other part
- 2:13Speaker 5: is because I was on the run. I was trying
- 2:16Speaker 5: to make it happen. Anyway, let's get into 203.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Wait, can I tell you guys something?
- 2:20Speaker 1: Please, be honest.
- 2:22Speaker 3: So, the other day we were filming outside. Am I
- 2:26Speaker 3: allowed to say outside?
- 2:27Speaker 4: Yes.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Why would you not be allowed to say outside?
- 2:32Speaker 4: You said, am I allowed to say I do?
- 2:34Speaker 1: You're so nervous. You're so nervous you thought we might
- 2:37Speaker 1: censor you saying outside?
- 2:39Speaker 3: Am I allowed to say we were filming outside? We
- 2:42Speaker 3: were filming outside.
- 2:43Speaker 6: So there were like people around and then I made
- 2:45Speaker 6: a joke and I was like, chicken little sign my leg.
- 2:49Speaker 3: I'm going to get it tattooed.
- 2:51Speaker 4: Right.
- 2:52Speaker 5: No fricking way.
- 2:53Speaker 4: No.
- 2:55Speaker 5: No fricking way.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Eva!
- 2:57Speaker 2: But, but.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Whose tattoo is that?
- 3:00Speaker 7: They did it in a mirror and they did it backwards.
- 3:02Speaker 5: They spelled chicken a little backwards. They spelled chicken a
- 3:05Speaker 5: little backwards.
- 3:05Speaker 1: She's doing a joke.
- 3:06Speaker 6: No.
- 3:06Speaker 5: This is a bit.
- 3:07Speaker 3: I'm not joking. I looked into getting it lasered.
- 3:09Speaker 2: They said I have to wait a month.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Wait, so.
- 3:11Speaker 4: Oh, no.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Wait, so Ava, because I... Wait, for those of you
- 3:20Speaker 1: who don't know, for those of you who don't know,
- 3:22Speaker 1: I'm Chicken Little. And Ava asked me to sign her
- 3:25Speaker 1: ankle as Chicken Little. And you actually got it tattooed
- 3:29Speaker 1: and they did it backwards?
- 3:30Speaker 3: It's backwards, but in a mirror it looks good.
- 3:32Speaker 5: Oh my gosh. This has got to be a bit.
- 3:35Speaker 1: It's got to be a bit.
- 3:36Speaker 5: This is totally a bit. Oh, my God.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I went to Gastown. Ava, I love your commitment to
- 3:45Speaker 1: the bit.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Look how red and infected it is.
- 3:49Speaker 2: It is.
- 3:49Speaker 4: It looks really red and infected.
- 3:51Speaker 1: You know what Ava actually did?
- 3:52Speaker 2: I fully thought you did it.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I know. You really got me for a second. Do
- 3:55Speaker 1: you know that Ava, what she also did, we were
- 3:58Speaker 1: filming outside and there was like a crowd assembled. And
- 4:01Speaker 1: I hear a voice go, Zach, I love you. And
- 4:04Speaker 1: I went, oh, I love you so much too. And
- 4:05Speaker 1: I go, that's fucking Ava.
- 4:10Speaker 2: So Ava, when.
- 4:11Speaker 4: We were, I don't know, like fourth season or something,
- 4:14Speaker 4: we did a Scrubs DVD launch party in Vegas and
- 4:18Speaker 4: the whole crew came to Vegas and we had to
- 4:20Speaker 4: do a set of interviews on a red carpet as
- 4:22Speaker 4: part of this launch party. And while we were on
- 4:26Speaker 4: the interviews, I said, They said, so anything fun happening tonight?
- 4:30Speaker 4: And I was like, yeah, Bill Lawrence had made a
- 4:32Speaker 4: dare that if any of us get the Scrubs logo
- 4:34Speaker 4: tattooed on our bodies that, you know, it's a dare
- 4:37Speaker 4: for $ 1, 000. And I just mentioned this to one of
- 4:40Speaker 4: the reporters. And then we get to the after party
- 4:43Speaker 4: and he comes.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Up and he's like, so, uh.
- 4:46Speaker 4: About that dare, and he pulls up his pant leg,
- 4:48Speaker 4: and he got the Scrubs logo tattooed. Not small.
- 4:51Speaker 2: It was very large.
- 4:54Speaker 4: But it was not a bit.
- 4:55Speaker 2: It was for real.
- 4:57Speaker 5: Yeah, we played basketball together quite a few times. We
- 5:01Speaker 5: even played basketball at the All-Star game for the celebrity game,
- 5:07Speaker 5: and he still had the Scrubs logo. That's crazy. He
- 5:11Speaker 5: was a host of like Extra at the time.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yeah, he worked at Extra. I remember it got him
- 5:15Speaker 1: into the party at work.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it did. And he got $ 2, 000 that night also.
- 5:17Speaker 5: All right, let's get into the episode. Count us in, Donald.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Five, six, seven, eight.
- 5:30Speaker 1: About a bunch of docs and nurses in a Canada
- 5:33Speaker 1: who love to hate.
- 5:34Speaker 5: I said he's got stories that we all should know.
- 5:39Speaker 5: So gather round to hear our, gather round.
- 5:42Speaker 1: To hear our Scrubs Rewatch Show with Zach and Donald.
- 5:48Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Zach and Donald have a podcast.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Why don't you sing it? Because Ava has revealed,
- 5:55Speaker 1: as you hopefully saw, that she doesn't know the theme
- 5:59Speaker 1: song to the podcast. But let's hear just one last
- 6:01Speaker 1: time your version of what you imagine the theme song
- 6:03Speaker 1: to the podcast is.
- 6:04Speaker 7: It's something like, Zach and Donald have a podcast. They're
- 6:08Speaker 7: talking about scraps.
- 6:10Speaker 2: That's it. I'm glad it's not that.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Charlie Puth actually produced our theme song.
- 6:18Speaker 3: Wait, for real?
- 6:19Speaker 5: Yeah, straight up.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I didn't know that.
- 6:21Speaker 5: Straight up.
- 6:22Speaker 7: Wait, that's crazy.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Yeah, Donald and I kind of came up with a
- 6:25Speaker 1: rough idea. We said we want in the spirit of
- 6:27Speaker 1: the Jefferson's theme song. And then we just started to
- 6:30Speaker 1: come up.
- 6:30Speaker 5: Did we come up with the lyrics together? Yeah. Because
- 6:34Speaker 5: we were joking around. I mean, if you listen to
- 6:36Speaker 5: the lyrics, here's a story about a show we made.
- 6:39Speaker 1: But we were kind of like scatting it a bit
- 6:40Speaker 1: because we didn't have all the lyrics, you know, like
- 6:42Speaker 1: real musicians do when they're like, They don't know the
- 6:45Speaker 1: lyrics yet, and they're like, da-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba. And then we gave
- 6:49Speaker 1: it to Charlie. I asked him because I know him,
- 6:52Speaker 1: and I didn't think he would say yes, but he
- 6:53Speaker 1: was like, sure. And I told him, like, in the
- 6:55Speaker 1: spirit of the Jeffersons, and he was like, oh, I
- 6:57Speaker 1: got you. And then he full-on produced our amazing theme song.
- 7:01Speaker 1: That's crazy. So shout out to Charlie.
- 7:02Speaker 5: We had to write the lyrics, but he produced the
- 7:03Speaker 5: music for it.
- 7:04Speaker 1: And then we put, like, a choir in there. It
- 7:06Speaker 1: was amazing.
- 7:06Speaker 3: It was awesome.
- 7:07Speaker 1: All right, so 203, directed by Gail Mancuso.
- 7:10Speaker 2: We start.
- 7:11Speaker 5: Thunderous applause.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Great job. Hold open. And the cold open, I wanted
- 7:16Speaker 1: to say it's so cute with me and Rachel and
- 7:19Speaker 1: Rachel's laugh when she pantses me is her real laugh
- 7:25Speaker 1: because I always think it's so amazing as a director
- 7:28Speaker 1: when you can get someone to genuinely laugh. Sarah, you're
- 7:31Speaker 1: great at this because you laugh a lot and we
- 7:33Speaker 1: sometimes put your real laughs in the show. But Rachel
- 7:36Speaker 1: had done a bunch of laughs and they were fine.
- 7:38Speaker 1: But on that last take, in fact, you can kind
- 7:40Speaker 1: of hear someone off camera laughing. I hopefully, maybe we'll
- 7:43Speaker 1: be able to fix it up by the time the
- 7:44Speaker 1: audience sees it. But that's just Rachel genuinely cracking up
- 7:48Speaker 1: and pushing me back. And we put it in the
- 7:50Speaker 1: show and it's just so natural.
- 7:51Speaker 5: Did you catch her off guard when you said, I
- 7:53Speaker 5: would like to request the gentle cycle?
- 7:55Speaker 1: I think I was just doing, I think I was
- 7:57Speaker 1: doing funny versions of that. And one just cracked her up.
- 8:00Speaker 1: And when she pushes me back, she's like laughing as Rachel.
- 8:04Speaker 1: And she has the sweetest laugh and it was so cute.
- 8:06Speaker 1: And so I just wanted to say that that's in
- 8:08Speaker 1: the show.
- 8:08Speaker 5: It's a great opening.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Yes.
- 8:10Speaker 1: And now Chore Play is from Donald's real life. On
- 8:13Speaker 1: the previous podcast, those of you who know the podcast
- 8:16Speaker 1: and listened before, we had a sex therapist on. And
- 8:19Speaker 1: Donald and his wife came on and they were speaking
- 8:21Speaker 1: very openly about their lives. And she recommended Donald try
- 8:25Speaker 1: Chore Play. And that's where the writers got this whole storyline.
- 8:28Speaker 5: Joelle, how did that make you feel when you saw that?
- 8:30Speaker 6: It.
- 8:31Speaker 8: blew my mind Donald I was not at all prepared
- 8:34Speaker 8: for it but then I was excited because I think
- 8:36Speaker 8: that's something you guys have talked about on the pod
- 8:38Speaker 8: a lot is how you bring real life scenarios in
- 8:40Speaker 8: and I was like the podcast is now a real
- 8:42Speaker 8: life scenario it's really cool.
- 8:44Speaker 5: Well yeah the podcast definitely informed us on a lot
- 8:50Speaker 5: of stories and Shoreplay made it and I want to
- 8:52Speaker 5: put it be on the record in saying I do
- 8:54Speaker 5: not like Shoreplay at all I think Shoreplay is for
- 8:57Speaker 5: the birds I think I said that back in the day.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Too You didn't even give chore play a chance.
- 9:02Speaker 5: No, I tried. That shit doesn't work, man.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Did you do a single chore?
- 9:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I did. Come on, man. Of course. What did
- 9:08Speaker 5: you do? I took the trash out. I washed some dishes.
- 9:11Speaker 5: I'm the one that cooks in the house.
- 9:14Speaker 4: Right.
- 9:14Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 9:14Speaker 1: But did those chores yield any booty?
- 9:17Speaker 5: I mean, no, the chores didn't. Because, you know, after
- 9:27Speaker 5: the chores, I, you know, when you do chore play,
- 9:30Speaker 5: you expect after the chores for it to go right
- 9:32Speaker 5: into sex. You know what I mean? So like I
- 9:34Speaker 5: finished washing the dishes and I was like, all right,
- 9:36Speaker 5: let's go.
- 9:37Speaker 2: I don't think that's, I.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Don't think when the sex therapist was on, she was
- 9:40Speaker 1: saying that you're going to like hit start on the
- 9:42Speaker 1: dishwasher and she's going to drop her pants. I think
- 9:45Speaker 1: it's like an aggregate of lots of chores.
- 9:48Speaker 5: I was not aware that that.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Was what she was saying.
- 9:53Speaker 1: All right, Scott Foley's back. Sarah? Oh, my God. Your love, Sean.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Nobody cares, Sean.
- 10:00Speaker 1: That was very funny at the aquarium. Oh, cool. You
- 10:03Speaker 1: have a cool job. Nobody cares. Sean? I wanted so
- 10:07Speaker 1: badly for Scott Foley to get in the real aquarium
- 10:10Speaker 1: tank at the Vancouver Aquarium. Is that what they call it, Sarah?
- 10:13Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what they call it.
- 10:14Speaker 1: And it's very beautiful there. And they said that he
- 10:17Speaker 1: would have to... It was a whole ordeal. He'd have
- 10:21Speaker 1: to take a course? What was the ordeal?
- 10:23Speaker 4: He'd have to take a class?
- 10:24Speaker 1: I think even if he was a skilled scuba diver,
- 10:28Speaker 1: just insurance-wise, it had to be a.
- 10:33Speaker 1: I don't know if it was, I think it was
- 10:34Speaker 1: a stuntman or it may have been there. No, it
- 10:36Speaker 1: must have been a stuntman.
- 10:37Speaker 4: I think it was a stuntman.
- 10:39Speaker 7: They had to be the scuba diver for that tank,
- 10:42Speaker 7: I think, right?
- 10:43Speaker 1: It was either that or, but the guy was being funny.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I believe they allowed a stuntman, just insurance-wise stuntman. They
- 10:49Speaker 1: couldn't put Scott Foley in the actual shark tank.
- 10:51Speaker 5: That's crazy because SeaWorld let us do whatever we wanted
- 10:55Speaker 5: back in the day. We were swimming with dolphins.
- 10:58Speaker 4: He was riding a dolphin as his midnight train going anywhere.
- 11:03Speaker 5: Not just that. He was playing with the walruses and everything, man.
- 11:05Speaker 5: They let us do whatever we wanted.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Yes, and I think we all, after we saw Blackfish,
- 11:10Speaker 1: felt very bad about using SeaWorld. So that's why we
- 11:14Speaker 1: tried to buy it back with talking about how Sean,
- 11:18Speaker 1: even though he's a marine biologist, is shocked to learn
- 11:20Speaker 1: that orcas don't like living in captivity.
- 11:22Speaker 4: He thought they were smiling, but that's just the way
- 11:24Speaker 4: their mouths are.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I love that he's like, you're not going to believe this.
- 11:30Speaker 1: But it turns out the orcas did not like living
- 11:33Speaker 1: in captivity.
- 11:35Speaker 4: That scene where you meet Scott Foley for the first
- 11:38Speaker 4: time again with Rachel, and beautiful green eyes, their contacts. No,
- 11:43Speaker 4: they're not. Actually, they're not.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Actually, they are, Sean.
- 11:46Speaker 1: We made that up on the day and we were
- 11:48Speaker 1: just dying laughing because Scott Foley has the most beautiful
- 11:52Speaker 1: green eyes. Like you will get lost in them. And
- 11:55Speaker 1: I thought it was funny that JD is like telling
- 11:58Speaker 1: him that they're contacts. And he's like, no, JD, they're not.
- 12:01Speaker 5: They are, Sean.
- 12:01Speaker 1: No, they are.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Yeah, it was really fun to have Foley back. He
- 12:07Speaker 4: fits into the group so well. And, you know, I
- 12:11Speaker 4: think Asim.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Who's our showrunner.
- 12:14Speaker 5: Who's our showrunner.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Thought it was a good way to bring Elliot's kind of... quirky, clumsy,
- 12:22Speaker 4: disastrous self back into the fold as an adult when
- 12:25Speaker 4: she's supposed to be all grown up. It's like the
- 12:27Speaker 4: nerves and the feelings she has for him kind of
- 12:30Speaker 4: brings it all back.
- 12:31Speaker 5: So that was so fun to play.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I gotta say, I'm so happy to see batshit Elliot back.
- 12:35Speaker 1: I think that we really were holding the reins too
- 12:39Speaker 1: tight on Elliot in season one of the revival. And
- 12:43Speaker 1: in these two episodes and also in one, which we
- 12:47Speaker 1: just rewatched with the crew, Batshit Elliot is back, and
- 12:50Speaker 1: it's very fun to watch.
- 12:51Speaker 2: It's super fun to do.
- 12:53Speaker 4: I mean, like, you know, obviously, like, we loved all
- 12:56Speaker 4: of the stunty, pratfall-y, slapstick-y stuff in the physical comedy
- 13:00Speaker 4: in round one, and it's fun to get to dabble
- 13:04Speaker 4: back into it. I mean, Trevor, let's have a shout-out
- 13:07Speaker 4: to Trevor. Our stunt guy's so good, and he had, like,
- 13:11Speaker 4: Such good notes for that cafeteria scene.
- 13:13Speaker 5: Is that you hitting your head?
- 13:14Speaker 1: She did everything. She did everything. It was so fun.
- 13:18Speaker 5: Oh, my goodness gracious. You are amazing.
- 13:20Speaker 1: She killed it. And I got a shout out to
- 13:21Speaker 1: Sarah because and Ava, I hope you as a young
- 13:25Speaker 1: actress take inspiration from Sarah. An older actress.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Oh, come on, bro.
- 13:29Speaker 4: Okay, I'll take it. That's fine.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Well, I worded that perfectly.
- 13:31Speaker 5: Just a veteran.
- 13:32Speaker 2: How about a veteran? Could be a couple years older.
- 13:34Speaker 1: I want the audience to know that Ava was born
- 13:37Speaker 1: the year Scrubs premiered.
- 13:39Speaker 5: Oh, boy.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Ava was born the year Scrubs premiered.
- 13:42Speaker 5: So was Joelle. Joelle, how old are you? Never mind.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Don't ask a lady her age.
- 13:45Speaker 2: I'm not supposed to ask that.
- 13:47Speaker 5: I'm not supposed to ask that. I'm not supposed to
- 13:49Speaker 5: ask that.
- 13:49Speaker 1: But anyway, let's go back to my compliment, which was
- 13:52Speaker 1: Sarah's choreography of those stunt falls and hits was took
- 13:58Speaker 1: A lot of rehearsal and choreography. And she really got
- 14:02Speaker 1: with Trevor, our stunt coordinator, and really rehearsed. And you
- 14:06Speaker 1: put the time in and you put the time in
- 14:09Speaker 1: and it showed and you did it all. And it's
- 14:11Speaker 1: fucking hilarious.
- 14:12Speaker 5: I laugh.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I've seen it so many times and I belly laugh
- 14:15Speaker 1: every single time. It's so funny.
- 14:18Speaker 4: It was so fun to do, but like, it's so
- 14:20Speaker 4: fun when you do things like that and then weird
- 14:22Speaker 4: shit ends up happening on the day that you didn't
- 14:23Speaker 4: even expect. Like even with the rehearsals and we kind
- 14:26Speaker 4: of had, you know, you have to have them out
- 14:28Speaker 4: in in the very specific beats, but then stuff's just
- 14:31Speaker 4: going to happen. Like everybody kept saying like, did you
- 14:34Speaker 4: hurt yourself? And I was like, no, I, I mean, I,
- 14:37Speaker 4: I hurt myself as you guys know, like multiple times.
- 14:40Speaker 2: A week, just living.
- 14:42Speaker 4: But I didn't, I didn't, that was choreographed and I didn't,
- 14:45Speaker 4: but one of the things that happened that actually ended
- 14:46Speaker 4: up making the cut that was not part of the
- 14:49Speaker 4: planned Elliot things was Was I, you know, dropped my purse.
- 14:54Speaker 4: I go to get it, hit my head, hit my
- 14:55Speaker 4: head again from under the table. And because we were
- 14:58Speaker 4: trying to figure out how to sell that under the
- 15:00Speaker 4: table head hit. And we realized if I had one
- 15:02Speaker 4: more line to look up to Scott, it'd be a
- 15:04Speaker 4: lot easier to sell. So we did that with the Kleenex.
- 15:06Speaker 4: And while I was down there, I was confused. I
- 15:09Speaker 4: was like, why can't I?
- 15:10Speaker 2: What is happening?
- 15:11Speaker 4: And it was this amazing moment where I was like,
- 15:12Speaker 4: I don't even know what's happening here. And I realized
- 15:14Speaker 4: my high heel had gotten caught in the back of
- 15:17Speaker 4: my lab coat and I was completely stuck. And then
- 15:20Speaker 4: it's kind of slowly like tipped over like a teacup,
- 15:23Speaker 4: just kind of like slowly tipping down.
- 15:25Speaker 1: And then- And we put that all in the show.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Your audience will see that. She just all of a
- 15:31Speaker 1: sudden just tips forward.
- 15:32Speaker 4: And like, we were like, If you wrote that in,
- 15:36Speaker 4: people would be like, that's too broad.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Nobody would get their high heels stuck.
- 15:39Speaker 4: In the back of the lab coat. But I didn't
- 15:42Speaker 4: end up, you know, we did all the takes and
- 15:44Speaker 4: it was, we had a great time and it was
- 15:47Speaker 4: so much fun and we didn't hurt myself at all.
- 15:48Speaker 4: And then we walk off and you guys are rehearsing
- 15:50Speaker 4: the next scene and I wasn't in it. And I'm
- 15:52Speaker 4: walking off with Judy and she's telling me this really
- 15:55Speaker 4: interesting story. And I'm like, oh my God, that's crazy.
- 15:58Speaker 4: And we're walking down the hallway and I'm just looking
- 15:59Speaker 4: at Judy and I'm not looking forward and just like,
- 16:03Speaker 4: smack into the door like I.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Literally just walked right into a door.
- 16:06Speaker 4: And you hear it reverberate and everybody on set was
- 16:08Speaker 4: like what and I was like I'm okay.
- 16:11Speaker 1: It's amazing how much can I tell them what happened
- 16:13Speaker 1: when we went to dinner we went to dinner and
- 16:16Speaker 1: I'm last time we all went to dinner.
- 16:19Speaker 5: What happened when you guys went to dinner oh that's
- 16:21Speaker 5: right I was working.
- 16:22Speaker 1: That night no you were there no no this time So, audience,
- 16:26Speaker 1: if you listen to the podcast, you know that something
- 16:27Speaker 1: weird or bad happens to Sarah every single day.
- 16:30Speaker 5: She trips.
- 16:30Speaker 1: She falls. Some catastrophe happens every single day. And we're
- 16:34Speaker 1: all going to dinner, and she FaceTimes me. Oh, she
- 16:37Speaker 1: calls me on the phone. And I go, what are
- 16:40Speaker 1: you calling to tell me? Like, you're at the ER.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Something happened. You're not going to make it to dinner.
- 16:44Speaker 1: And she's like, ha-ha, no. I just wanted to ask
- 16:46Speaker 1: you this random question about something else. And we're talking,
- 16:49Speaker 1: and we're hanging up. And I go, okay, well... I'll
- 16:52Speaker 1: be shocked if you make it to dinner because something's
- 16:54Speaker 1: bound to happen to you. And she's like, ha ha.
- 16:56Speaker 1: See you in a minute. I sit down to dinner.
- 16:58Speaker 1: We're all there. Johnny sees there. We're all hanging out.
- 17:00Speaker 5: I get it.
- 17:00Speaker 1: I check my phone. I get a text from Sarah.
- 17:02Speaker 1: I'm okay, but I've been in a car accident. A
- 17:07Speaker 1: car changed lanes into mine and destroyed my doors and
- 17:10Speaker 1: my running boards. Just exchanging info. Be there soon. It
- 17:18Speaker 1: wasn't my fault. It was after joking about this.
- 17:21Speaker 4: It wasn't my fault. Someone changed lanes into me. I
- 17:25Speaker 4: had nothing to do with it. I was just in
- 17:27Speaker 4: the wrong place.
- 17:28Speaker 5: Somebody had a dash cam.
- 17:29Speaker 6: Yes.
- 17:30Speaker 1: She wrote that in her text. Guy behind him at
- 17:33Speaker 1: a dash cam. All good.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Order me a drink. Totally.
- 17:38Speaker 4: Don't forget to order a dash cam is what.
- 17:41Speaker 5: I texted myself.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Let's talk about Donald's Denzel impression. We did lots of
- 17:45Speaker 1: alts of the voice that would turn Carla on.
- 17:50Speaker 5: That's what I got out of that also. I got
- 17:54Speaker 5: that it's not that she's going to fantasize about Denzel.
- 17:57Speaker 5: That doesn't make Turk angry, it kind of turns him on.
- 18:01Speaker 5: And so he goes right into his King Kong impression, like, yo,
- 18:05Speaker 5: King Kong. Because they've done that role-playing.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they've role-played Denzel before.
- 18:12Speaker 4: Donald, there were so many good alts. You were so
- 18:14Speaker 4: fucking funny in all of them. And I wish that, like,
- 18:17Speaker 4: you know, Hulu would release, like, a clip of just
- 18:19Speaker 4: all of the alts together. What were some of the
- 18:21Speaker 4: other ones?
- 18:21Speaker 5: They were so good. The other alts.
- 18:23Speaker 1: There were a couple, but Denzel was my favorite.
- 18:25Speaker 5: Denzel was the one that worked. All the other ones
- 18:27Speaker 5: were like, you know, I'll never do... We're not going
- 18:30Speaker 5: to watch a television show or something like that. King
- 18:32Speaker 5: Kong Ain't Got None On Me was the one that
- 18:34Speaker 5: I didn't think was going to get used, and it
- 18:36Speaker 5: did get used.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Because it's so funny. And you do a good Denzel.
- 18:39Speaker 5: I do not do a good Denzel.
- 18:40Speaker 1: By the way, I wrote down later, when you're in
- 18:43Speaker 1: the scene with... Blake later, and he's telling you about
- 18:48Speaker 1: weaponizing competence, you slip back into Denzel. You go, true dat,
- 18:57Speaker 1: true dat. Every time I hear you go, true dat,
- 19:01Speaker 1: true dat, true dat, I'm like, he slips back into Denzel.
- 19:04Speaker 5: It's Denzel training day. It's a specific Denzel. It's not
- 19:09Speaker 5: Denzel much ado about nothing. It's Denzel training day.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Right. That made me really funny. Sarah, Elliot talks about
- 19:24Speaker 1: having to go to CrossFit. And there was a line
- 19:27Speaker 1: there we had to cut that I thought was really
- 19:28Speaker 1: funny that you go, I'm not going back to CrossFit.
- 19:32Speaker 1: They make you flip tires. Where are all these tractors?
- 19:35Speaker 1: They have no tires.
- 19:40Speaker 4: The best part about this season is we have like
- 19:43Speaker 4: four writers on like with us on set all the time,
- 19:46Speaker 4: which is insanely rare to have like four comedy writers there.
- 19:50Speaker 4: jokes as you're going. And that was one that was
- 19:52Speaker 4: pitched in the moment. Yeah.
- 19:53Speaker 1: And it's a shame that the audience doesn't get to
- 19:56Speaker 1: see these. We have this daydream audience that that Hulu
- 20:01Speaker 1: will one day put up cut scenes or all jokes
- 20:04Speaker 1: or at least bloopers as an extras thing on Hulu.
- 20:08Speaker 1: It's just hard to get anything.
- 20:10Speaker 5: They would get like three extra episodes out of the show.
- 20:12Speaker 1: We have pitches and stuff. It's just so hard for
- 20:14Speaker 1: everything to make it through the pipeline. But that would
- 20:17Speaker 1: be so fun.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Maybe we could do it as a bonus podcast episode.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Just saying.
- 20:22Speaker 5: I mean, who's going to edit it? Who's going to
- 20:24Speaker 5: edit it and all that stuff, though?
- 20:26Speaker 2: Who wants somebody to edit it?
- 20:27Speaker 1: We can figure that out. I just think the audience,
- 20:30Speaker 1: when we cut funny stuff, I always go, oh, it's
- 20:32Speaker 1: a shame no one's ever going to see this. Sometimes
- 20:34Speaker 1: we work hard on things. Ava, talk to that. It's
- 20:37Speaker 1: probably your first experience being in something like you worked
- 20:39Speaker 1: hard on something and then it's never seen by anybody. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:42Speaker 4: Yeah. No, I.
- 20:42Speaker 5: How do you feel about.
- 20:47Speaker 1: That as an actress?
- 20:48Speaker 4: I love it.
- 20:49Speaker 2: I love it.
- 20:49Speaker 1: It's like a giant monologue.
- 20:51Speaker 7: It's like fun.
- 20:52Speaker 6: It's like, oh, my God. It's like not even like
- 20:54Speaker 6: I worked on that or anything. It's like literally so chill.
- 20:58Speaker 3: And I love that. But I think it's. I was
- 21:03Speaker 3: expecting when he asked the question.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Well, I'm a good host, Ava. I make sure all
- 21:08Speaker 1: the guests are speaking. Ava's like, I'm not going to talk.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I'm just going to do my fake tattoo bit.
- 21:14Speaker 4: But Ava, you're so like comfortable. And that was what
- 21:19Speaker 4: was so incredible about you from the get was like,
- 21:21Speaker 4: you are so comfortable and so, like, comfortable in your
- 21:25Speaker 4: own skin. And, like, just I feel like roll with
- 21:28Speaker 4: it with all of the, like, coming up with your
- 21:31Speaker 4: own alts, coming up with your own improv, but also
- 21:33Speaker 4: whatever the writers throw at you last second where there's, like,
- 21:36Speaker 4: no preparation time. And it's so fun to watch. Thank you.
- 21:41Speaker 1: You're so natural.
- 21:42Speaker 5: You really are.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I got to say, when I watch these cuts and,
- 21:46Speaker 1: you know, sometimes– You know, with so many actors, you go, OK,
- 21:49Speaker 1: that wasn't the best take or this one's more real.
- 21:52Speaker 1: But with you, I just never I always my only
- 21:54Speaker 1: thing with actors is like, don't forget that you've never
- 21:57Speaker 1: had this thought. This is you're coming up. You may
- 21:59Speaker 1: have read it and memorized it and we've rehearsed it
- 22:01Speaker 1: five times. But don't ever forget, like your character just
- 22:05Speaker 1: coming with this thought. And I never have that thought
- 22:06Speaker 1: with you. You always just seem like these thoughts are
- 22:09Speaker 1: coming to you in the moment. And I really like
- 22:11Speaker 1: that about you.
- 22:11Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 22:12Speaker 3: That's so nice.
- 22:14Speaker 4: And like, you know, the very first shot of the
- 22:18Speaker 4: season was Ava. It was the first shot of the day.
- 22:20Speaker 4: And you had this like massive monologue that had to
- 22:23Speaker 4: kind of be like run through like a train and
- 22:25Speaker 4: you nailed it every time.
- 22:27Speaker 3: That's so nice.
- 22:28Speaker 6: I was really nervous for that one because I was like,
- 22:30Speaker 6: season two, got to walk in.
- 22:33Speaker 4: There was like an announcement right in front. This is
- 22:34Speaker 4: our first scene of the day, you guys. The first
- 22:37Speaker 4: scene of the season.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Wait, which one was it? I forgot.
- 22:39Speaker 3: It was the walk and talk in the first episode.
- 22:42Speaker 8: Oh, yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 2: And I'm like, oh, my God, he might die.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Right.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Not in any kind of like sexual way.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Not in any sexual way.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Yeah, not in a sexual way.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I'm not thinking about sex. My dad said to me
- 22:53Speaker 1: when I got my marriage.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Yeah, right. That one was fun. That was a.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Fun one to film.
- 23:00Speaker 1: All right.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Let's move on.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Ice matcha lattes. It's so funny that Michael James Scott's
- 23:04Speaker 1: character is like, I don't understand how white people procreate.
- 23:10Speaker 1: And then I was laughing to myself as I was
- 23:12Speaker 1: taking notes is that I've been on many a day
- 23:14Speaker 1: date to get ice matcha lattes. I think it's a
- 23:17Speaker 1: great day date. And I was like, oh, my God,
- 23:19Speaker 1: I'm the person they're making fun of.
- 23:21Speaker 4: Yes.
- 23:21Speaker 8: Yes.
- 23:22Speaker 2: They seem.
- 23:23Speaker 4: How many matchas do I have in a day?
- 23:24Speaker 3: Specifically matchas?
- 23:25Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's kind of like, it's not just coffee.
- 23:27Speaker 1: It's like, hey, let's go to like a fun ice
- 23:30Speaker 1: matcha latte place and have a chat.
- 23:32Speaker 7: Right.
- 23:32Speaker 5: What is a matcha?
- 23:34Speaker 1: Oh, it's like a green tea.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Right, Sarah?
- 23:39Speaker 1: Sarah's a specialist on this.
- 23:41Speaker 4: I am. I am. I have my whisk and my
- 23:43Speaker 4: special matcha bowl in my trailer. I... have tried to
- 23:47Speaker 4: reduce the number of matchas.
- 23:48Speaker 1: That I have a day.
- 23:48Speaker 4: It's tea with a lot of caffeine.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Green tea with a lot of caffeine. It gives you
- 23:50Speaker 1: a nice high. And the caffeine high isn't just like
- 23:53Speaker 1: a coffee spike real quick. It kind of lasts longer.
- 23:56Speaker 4: It's a slow release.
- 23:57Speaker 3: It's a slow release.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Oh.
- 23:59Speaker 4: It's great.
- 23:59Speaker 5: Maybe I should be doing matchas.
- 24:00Speaker 1: You'd love it.
- 24:01Speaker 5: You'd like matcha.
- 24:02Speaker 1: And you put vanilla in it.
- 24:03Speaker 5: Is it a little sweet, though? That's the only thing
- 24:04Speaker 5: I would.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Well, you don't have to have it sweet.
- 24:05Speaker 3: You don't need to make it sweet.
- 24:06Speaker 4: I do mine unsweetened.
- 24:06Speaker 1: I add a little vanilla.
- 24:08Speaker 8: Oh.
- 24:09Speaker 1: By the way, we're being the thing right now. The
- 24:11Speaker 1: three white people are like, and then I add a
- 24:12Speaker 1: little vanilla.
- 24:13Speaker 5: Sometimes I do.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Mine half on the milk. And Donald's like, what the
- 24:17Speaker 2: hell is a matcha? What is a matcha?
- 24:19Speaker 1: Anyway, I just laughed to myself because I've definitely been like, hey,
- 24:22Speaker 1: do you want to like get a nice matcha latte?
- 24:26Speaker 2: So weird.
- 24:28Speaker 4: So was that like, that was a riff of yours
- 24:29Speaker 4: on the day, right? The matcha latte?
- 24:31Speaker 5: I don't remember.
- 24:32Speaker 4: Also really funny in that scene, the sound effect you
- 24:35Speaker 4: have for Sean coming in and you're like.
- 24:37Speaker 5: Oh, I love that. That was an on the spot situation, actually.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I came up with that. I was like, it would
- 24:45Speaker 1: be funny if I kind of was doing the angel noise. No,
- 24:48Speaker 1: you hear the angel noise and then you reveal that
- 24:50Speaker 1: it's just JD.
- 24:50Speaker 2: That's really funny. Which is really funny. That was good.
- 24:54Speaker 4: And I just love the whole runner of how much
- 24:57Speaker 4: JD fucking hates Sean. Like, it's so funny.
- 25:01Speaker 5: Even though he's done this great thing for Elliot or
- 25:03Speaker 5: he assumes that this is this great thing for Elliot
- 25:06Speaker 5: and stuff like that. He's still fucking like, I can't stand.
- 25:09Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 25:10Speaker 1: The fun thing about playing JD is he's a very
- 25:14Speaker 1: flawed protagonist. He is insecure. He is vengeful. He is
- 25:18Speaker 1: a narcissist.
- 25:19Speaker 5: He's very vengeful.
- 25:21Speaker 1: He's a little bitch. And he always has been. And
- 25:25Speaker 1: I love playing him. But he thinks he gets an idea.
- 25:29Speaker 1: He's in love with Charlie or falling for Charlie. He
- 25:32Speaker 1: gets an idea to do the right thing for Elliot,
- 25:35Speaker 1: which is great. Good job, JD. And then it doesn't
- 25:37Speaker 1: take long before he instantly is jealous of him. Him
- 25:42Speaker 1: and his beautiful fucking green eyes.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Totally.
- 25:45Speaker 4: That comes up later when you're like, but I can
- 25:47Speaker 4: go help someone, Sean.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Right, right. He's like, don't mess with me. Do
- 25:52Speaker 1: you have feelings for Elliot? Right.
- 25:54Speaker 5: Oh, thank God.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Before he can answer, oh, thank God. Then I can
- 25:59Speaker 1: help her, Sean. Yeah, yeah. By the way, how cringe
- 26:04Speaker 1: is it when you're not sure if the person was
- 26:05Speaker 1: going for the handshake or the hug and you go
- 26:07Speaker 1: for the hug?
- 26:08Speaker 5: That's very cringe. I've never really experienced that.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Really? What, do you just always go handshake?
- 26:13Speaker 5: It happened once, and that was when you introduced me
- 26:15Speaker 5: to Brad Pitt. I'm pretty sure he was going in
- 26:18Speaker 5: for the handshake.
- 26:19Speaker 1: You went for the hug.
- 26:20Speaker 5: I pulled him in really close.
- 26:21Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Well, while we were walking to meet Brad Pitt, we
- 26:23Speaker 1: were at F1 and we were walking. We knew we
- 26:25Speaker 1: were going to meet Brad Pitt in a suite.
- 26:27Speaker 5: No, you knew we were going to meet Brad Pitt.
- 26:29Speaker 1: No, I told you on the way. And I was like, listen,
- 26:30Speaker 1: we're going to meet Brad Pitt. I need you to
- 26:32Speaker 1: hold us together. And he's like, and Donald's like, I'm
- 26:34Speaker 1: going to take a selfie for Casey. And I'm like, dude,
- 26:38Speaker 1: you cannot take a selfie. You got to act normal.
- 26:41Speaker 1: You got to act like this dude is normal.
- 26:42Speaker 5: No, there was no normal that night.
- 26:43Speaker 1: And Donald, I was like, it was like a fast
- 26:46Speaker 1: walk and talk through the F1 building. And I'm like,
- 26:49Speaker 1: and I'm in this pack of people. And as we're walking,
- 26:51Speaker 1: I'm like, listen, man, you got to hold it together. No,
- 26:54Speaker 1: I don't want you embarrassing us. He's like, Casey's going
- 26:57Speaker 1: to need a selfie.
- 27:02Speaker 6: Dude.
- 27:03Speaker 1: So you hugged him.
- 27:04Speaker 5: Yeah, he was like, hey.
- 27:05Speaker 1: You hugged him tight.
- 27:06Speaker 5: And I grabbed him and pulled him in. You brought
- 27:08Speaker 5: him in for a hug.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Right.
- 27:10Speaker 5: And then when we left, that was like, one more hug, please.
- 27:13Speaker 1: One more hug, please. Well, in real life, non-Brad Pitt life,
- 27:18Speaker 1: I've done that where you can't kind of gauge. It
- 27:23Speaker 1: might be different for women, but with men, it's so like,
- 27:26Speaker 1: you know, masculinity. Like, are we handshaking? Are we hugging?
- 27:29Speaker 1: Are we doing this thing? You're going for the wrong one.
- 27:32Speaker 5: Well, you know what? I take it back. Maybe I
- 27:34Speaker 5: didn't think it was awkward, but the person that I
- 27:36Speaker 5: was hugging thought it was awkward because I've gotten a
- 27:38Speaker 5: lot of where I've gone to hug somebody. And they
- 27:40Speaker 5: put the hand. Yeah. Like, yo, hey, doggy. Yo, that's enough, man.
- 27:44Speaker 1: That's enough.
- 27:45Speaker 6: I feel like I do that with you, though. I
- 27:47Speaker 6: don't know if you're going in for that situation.
- 27:49Speaker 5: Or the hug.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Or the hug.
- 27:51Speaker 6: Or sometimes you'll do that and then snap after. And
- 27:53Speaker 6: then I'll do it, like, as I'm walking away. Like,
- 27:56Speaker 6: test it out.
- 27:57Speaker 5: That's what it is.
- 27:58Speaker 2: I like to keep the guessing.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Sometimes you don't know which one Donald's doing. Like, you do,
- 28:03Speaker 1: and then you snap, and then you snap, and you're like,
- 28:05Speaker 1: I don't know. I haven't figured it out in 25 years.
- 28:07Speaker 4: Well, Donald and I just have to go right into
- 28:09Speaker 4: our three-minute handshake every time.
- 28:10Speaker 5: Dude, our three-minute handshake has taken some hits. It's no
- 28:15Speaker 5: longer three minutes. It's now, like, only 15 seconds.
- 28:18Speaker 4: I know. I know.
- 28:18Speaker 5: We've got to work on that. Because I can't remember
- 28:20Speaker 5: all of that shit.
- 28:21Speaker 1: I know.
- 28:21Speaker 5: I saw the old footage, because you know how Scrubs
- 28:24Speaker 5: were promoting the show and everything like that. It was long.
- 28:26Speaker 5: So they'll promote OG's footage and new... Anyway, I was
- 28:29Speaker 5: looking at our old handshake, and it used to be
- 28:32Speaker 5: really long, and we did a lot of things to it. Like,
- 28:34Speaker 5: there was the new kids dance, there's the running man,
- 28:36Speaker 5: there's a bunch of things. Now it's like, click, click, click,
- 28:39Speaker 5: see you later. I know, I know.
- 28:40Speaker 1: All right, we got to keep it moving. That's the
- 28:41Speaker 1: 50-year-old version. My job is to keep it moving here.
- 28:43Speaker 5: We got freaking 30 more minutes, says the clock.
- 28:46Speaker 2: 30 more minutes.
- 28:46Speaker 3: What about Egan's monologue?
- 28:47Speaker 1: I know, but I'm on page one of my notes.
- 28:49Speaker 1: What page are you on on your notes? My notes
- 28:52Speaker 1: are at home, bro. I told you. Yeah, but what
- 28:53Speaker 1: page might you be on?
- 28:55Speaker 5: I'm assuming on page one.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Okay, so we got lots of comments. Let's talk about
- 28:58Speaker 1: Kay Callan, the brilliant Kay Callan, who plays the older lady.
- 29:03Speaker 1: We found her because she was on Widow's Bay, and
- 29:06Speaker 1: she was so incredible on Widow's Bay. If you haven't
- 29:08Speaker 1: watched that show, check it out because she has an
- 29:10Speaker 1: amazing role, and she's so lovely in the show. And
- 29:14Speaker 1: we're going to get to her and David Gridley's performance
- 29:18Speaker 1: at the end, but let's first talk about John Higgins'
- 29:20Speaker 1: big monologue. that was so.
- 29:23Speaker 5: Let's introduce why the monologue comes up. So J.D., sorry,
- 29:29Speaker 5: Blake wants to get into... Don't do it. We cut it.
- 29:32Speaker 5: So how do you know How do you know?
- 29:35Speaker 1: The audience will know that we cut something and you
- 29:37Speaker 1: need to do longer. That's funnier.
- 29:45Speaker 5: Blake wants to get into cardiology because of his mom.
- 29:50Speaker 5: And J.D. has convinced Turk to allow him to go
- 29:56Speaker 5: into the OR. But in doing so, J.D. kind of
- 30:02Speaker 5: is overheard by Higgins' character, Grant, and Grant's like, yo,
- 30:10Speaker 5: don't do that. I wouldn't do that. And then he
- 30:12Speaker 5: goes into this beautiful monologue where when watching, I'm like,
- 30:16Speaker 5: where the hell is this going? And then by the
- 30:19Speaker 5: end of it, you realize he's just completely exhausted and
- 30:22Speaker 5: he's been on call. And let's talk about how great
- 30:24Speaker 5: John Higgins is.
- 30:25Speaker 1: John Higgins is so funny. He's such a great addition
- 30:27Speaker 1: to the show. I got to tell you, When I
- 30:30Speaker 1: first saw that long model, when we shot the long model,
- 30:32Speaker 1: I'm like, this is so funny, but I don't think
- 30:33Speaker 1: the whole thing's going to live just because the show
- 30:35Speaker 1: is 21, 30 seconds, 20 minutes, 30 seconds. And then
- 30:39Speaker 1: in the cut, I just kept leaving it in because
- 30:40Speaker 1: every time I watched it, I would laugh. And I
- 30:42Speaker 1: was like, well, I'm not going to cut it down
- 30:44Speaker 1: until later because I want Bill to see the whole thing.
- 30:47Speaker 1: I want everyone to see the whole thing. And then
- 30:49Speaker 1: the whole thing just lived because everyone just thought it
- 30:50Speaker 1: was so funny.
- 30:51Speaker 2: It has so.
- 30:52Speaker 4: Many parts to it. Like, he makes every piece of
- 30:55Speaker 4: it so fucking interesting so you wouldn't want to cut
- 30:57Speaker 4: any of it. Like, and it's so unique to him. Like,
- 31:00Speaker 4: when I watched it, I was like, oh, only John Higgins...
- 31:04Speaker 4: would do it exactly like that.
- 31:06Speaker 6: When he fake air punches the air.
- 31:09Speaker 1: There was so many funny outtakes of that where he
- 31:11Speaker 1: was like, I was like, okay, don't try and hit me.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Let's get... And then he goes, I go, why don't
- 31:16Speaker 1: you just go lie down? He goes, right here? I go, no, no,
- 31:19Speaker 1: not in the hallway. Let's get you into the penthouse.
- 31:22Speaker 4: And he gets emotional on it when he's like, when
- 31:24Speaker 4: he said, I'm not sending Blake to Hollywood. I would
- 31:26Speaker 4: not do that, sir.
- 31:28Speaker 1: I will not do that, sir.
- 31:31Speaker 4: And like only his monologue bested by his run.
- 31:34Speaker 3: The run is so good.
- 31:36Speaker 5: And well, and that'll pay dividends. That shit makes me
- 31:38Speaker 5: laugh so hard.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Every time he runs away, I'm giggling.
- 31:41Speaker 4: Whose idea was that, that he's like, has a really
- 31:43Speaker 4: weird run?
- 31:43Speaker 1: I don't know. But when I saw him, it came
- 31:45Speaker 1: from the writer and was in the script. But I
- 31:47Speaker 1: thought to myself, gosh, how do you do a funny,
- 31:50Speaker 1: bad run that doesn't look like you're trying to do
- 31:51Speaker 1: a bad run? Like it's a tricky thing. Like most
- 31:53Speaker 1: things you'd look like, oh, he's trying to do something silly.
- 31:56Speaker 1: And he found a way to do something like, I
- 31:57Speaker 1: believe that's not how he runs.
- 31:59Speaker 3: It's so good.
- 32:00Speaker 2: It's so weird. It's so good.
- 32:03Speaker 3: It's so good.
- 32:03Speaker 4: He brings so much to the show. And like, it's
- 32:06Speaker 4: fun to watch. Like if you, you know, just for
- 32:08Speaker 4: the audience members, if they go back and rewatch it,
- 32:10Speaker 4: look how he takes one line like, oh no, for example,
- 32:13Speaker 4: when he's in the cafeteria with David and he realizes
- 32:16Speaker 4: it's going south and the line's oh no, he.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Adds like a weird M in the middle.
- 32:20Speaker 1: He's like, oh no. Yes. He does a lot of
- 32:23Speaker 1: funny shit like that. That's like not, What I love
- 32:26Speaker 1: about John, obviously, Ava, you do this too, is like
- 32:30Speaker 1: it's not a choice anybody else would make.
- 32:32Speaker 5: It's so specific.
- 32:33Speaker 1: And that's what I love about comic actors, that they
- 32:36Speaker 1: don't just go on what's on the page. They find
- 32:38Speaker 1: something to make a specificity for their character that nobody
- 32:43Speaker 1: else would do. And John does that so much with
- 32:46Speaker 1: this character he's created.
- 32:47Speaker 5: I don't want to skip ahead to the cafeteria yet
- 32:50Speaker 5: because there's some really great moments in it that I
- 32:54Speaker 5: want to make sure. we hit on, but we got
- 32:56Speaker 5: to go back and, and still talk about the, uh,
- 33:00Speaker 5: Gridley and, uh, uh, and, uh, myself, uh, talking about, uh,
- 33:07Speaker 5: weaponized incompetence. Yes.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Um, before we didn't reach there. Well, I wanted to say, um, uh,
- 33:14Speaker 1: I laughed when, um, cause I was trying to give
- 33:16Speaker 1: all these reactions when he goes, when he's talking about
- 33:18Speaker 1: his dog and he goes, I told my dog to
- 33:21Speaker 1: sick the neighbor and I go, I made me laugh.
- 33:28Speaker 5: Are these things going to stay in the show? Because
- 33:30Speaker 5: in the cuts that we've seen, Puss is in the show. Yeah.
- 33:34Speaker 5: Prick is in the show. No, not Prick. Dick is
- 33:36Speaker 5: in the show.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Well, I got to tell you, on this note, figuring
- 33:42Speaker 1: out the censor of ABC, with all due respect to
- 33:44Speaker 1: our mother company, is very tricky. It's shocking what they'll
- 33:49Speaker 1: allow and then it's shocking what they won't allow. Can
- 33:51Speaker 1: you see if the audience can see that? Ava, just
- 33:56Speaker 1: reach up and bring that white mannequin thing down. That thing.
- 34:01Speaker 5: If you can grab it.
- 34:02Speaker 1: So they put a... Oh, there goes the mic. I
- 34:04Speaker 1: got you.
- 34:05Speaker 2: It's going to be worth it.
- 34:06Speaker 1: It's going to be worth it. I promise. Yeah, bring
- 34:09Speaker 1: that guy down. We had to remove this guy from
- 34:12Speaker 1: the set. It is an anatomical figure. And Ava, pull
- 34:16Speaker 1: off his leaf because this is, yeah, we're allowed to
- 34:18Speaker 1: show it on here.
- 34:19Speaker 5: Oh, God.
- 34:20Speaker 1: They wouldn't allow this guy on TV.
- 34:22Speaker 5: Well, he's got bush.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Pull off his pubes. Pull off his pubes.
- 34:24Speaker 2: He's got total bush.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Pull off his pubes. That's Velcro. Let me put him
- 34:29Speaker 1: closer to the camera before you pull off his pubes.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Ew, he has pubes.
- 34:35Speaker 1: He's not meant to have pubes, everybody. Oh, my God.
- 34:39Speaker 1: This looks like Velcro. I'm going to pull off. He's
- 34:48Speaker 1: getting waxed. He's getting waxed. Oh, my God. His pubes
- 34:53Speaker 1: are on strong.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Kelly Clarkson.
- 34:57Speaker 1: So, audience, look. We weren't allowed to show this in
- 35:00Speaker 1: the background on ABC.
- 35:02Speaker 3: Wait, can I see?
- 35:03Speaker 2: Wait, what?
- 35:04Speaker 4: How did that even get picked up?
- 35:06Speaker 1: Because I got a note from Brooke, who is in
- 35:09Speaker 1: charge of our post, and she's like, hey, we should
- 35:11Speaker 1: probably take that anatomical figure off your back shelf.
- 35:15Speaker 5: It literally was like this behind you.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Because ABC is making us blur his penis every episode.
- 35:22Speaker 1: And so this anatomical doll's little Ken doll scrotum was
- 35:27Speaker 1: not allowed in the background.
- 35:28Speaker 5: That's so insane. He's got a little bit more than
- 35:30Speaker 5: Ken doll, let's be honest. I see bold, I see shaft,
- 35:32Speaker 5: and I see bold.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Well, yeah, it's not a huge peep, but he's got something.
- 35:39Speaker 4: But on the podcast, he has a leaf over it.
- 35:40Speaker 5: Well, that's my shot, bro. All right, I'll put him here.
- 35:44Speaker 1: But anyway, so it's funny that things are allowed, not allowed.
- 35:47Speaker 1: He's his, his peep isn't allowed, but we can say dick.
- 35:51Speaker 1: You can call someone a dick. You can't say like
- 35:53Speaker 1: my dick. You can call someone a dick. You can
- 35:55Speaker 1: call someone a puss. Obviously you can't say pussy.
- 35:59Speaker 2: So interesting.
- 36:00Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:01Speaker 4: No, but that was like back in the day too.
- 36:03Speaker 4: There was an episode where Judy and I were supposed
- 36:05Speaker 4: to help a patient out. We ran, we wanted to
- 36:07Speaker 4: go out and get them pot. And that got, um,
- 36:12Speaker 4: that was said no to, but we could go out
- 36:13Speaker 4: and get them a prostitute.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:15Speaker 5: That's crazy. I totally get that. Pretty woman is a
- 36:19Speaker 5: fairy tale about a man meeting a prostitute.
- 36:22Speaker 1: No, but that was crazy. We had actually shot.
- 36:24Speaker 7: I mean, that's just classic family comedy.
- 36:28Speaker 1: We had started shooting a, it was like, it was
- 36:30Speaker 1: like long before medicinal marijuana was even considered being legal.
- 36:33Speaker 1: This was, you know, early two thousands.
- 36:36Speaker 4: Ava was in the womb.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Ava was, Ava was, Ava was still breastfeeding. And, uh,
- 36:42Speaker 1: And we already started shooting and the network came to
- 36:44Speaker 1: Bill and said, you can't do marijuana, medical marijuana. And
- 36:49Speaker 1: so he was like, shit, we already started shooting. And
- 36:51Speaker 1: they're like, can't do it. And he goes, well, what
- 36:53Speaker 1: if instead they go to get a prostitute to cheer
- 36:55Speaker 1: the patient up? And I'm like, yep, that's fine.
- 36:57Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 37:00Speaker 4: Oh my gosh.
- 37:01Speaker 5: I mean, I mean, if we're going to do alcohol,
- 37:04Speaker 5: I wonder what it, what it turns into now, now
- 37:07Speaker 5: that we're in the 2026, uh, If we can do alcohol,
- 37:12Speaker 5: can't we do weed? If weed is legal in certain.
- 37:15Speaker 1: I don't think so. We're on a family show at
- 37:18Speaker 1: 8 o'clock. I don't think we're going to get into ganja.
- 37:20Speaker 1: I mean, we can reference it, but I don't think
- 37:22Speaker 1: you're going to be.
- 37:23Speaker 4: But prostitutes.
- 37:23Speaker 5: Like, what if one of my kids does weed? Like,
- 37:26Speaker 5: you know, and it's like a lesson.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Well, you're not even allowed to inhale... You're not even
- 37:29Speaker 1: allowed to inhale a cigarette on camera. Someone can be
- 37:33Speaker 1: holding a cigarette, but they're not allowed to inhale it.
- 37:35Speaker 1: And if those of you remember watching the thing with
- 37:38Speaker 1: Lisa Gilroy last year, the film noir thing... You know,
- 37:41Speaker 1: we wanted her classic film noir to smoke a cigarette
- 37:43Speaker 1: and then exhale it in J.D.
- 37:45Speaker 5: 's face.
- 37:46Speaker 1: And if you go back, you'll look that she only
- 37:48Speaker 1: exhales in J.D. 's face. We were not allowed to
- 37:50Speaker 1: film her inhaling a cigarette.
- 37:52Speaker 4: Interesting. That's wild, though, that you can show exhale but
- 37:55Speaker 4: not inhale.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Well, no, I don't think.
- 37:58Speaker 5: I don't think they showed it coming out of our mouth.
- 38:00Speaker 5: They just showed it going into his face.
- 38:01Speaker 4: Oh, going to your face.
- 38:02Speaker 1: All right, we got to move on. Let's talk about
- 38:04Speaker 1: weaponized incompetence. This is a great.
- 38:08Speaker 5: Well, you know... I've never been madder at Turk.
- 38:11Speaker 1: What are you saying, Joelle?
- 38:13Speaker 4: I've never been more angry at Turk.
- 38:15Speaker 2: What the hell?
- 38:16Speaker 5: I mean, the fact that everybody takes this chore play
- 38:19Speaker 5: so seriously. I mean, I don't find... But.
- 38:23Speaker 1: What you did is a real dick move, dude.
- 38:25Speaker 4: Turk.
- 38:25Speaker 5: What Turk did is a dick move. I would never
- 38:27Speaker 5: do anything like that.
- 38:29Speaker 1: He purposefully did the chores poorly so she would never
- 38:34Speaker 1: ask again.
- 38:34Speaker 5: That was... You know, when I saw that in the
- 38:37Speaker 5: script and did the scene, I was like, why not
- 38:39Speaker 5: think of that in real life, man?
- 38:41Speaker 7: No, because you're a nice person.
- 38:43Speaker 4: Yes, because you love Casey.
- 38:45Speaker 5: I do care about my wife. But Turk cares about
- 38:48Speaker 5: his relationship with Carla.
- 38:50Speaker 1: I want to shout out... Your guy's patient, Tosh, and
- 38:53Speaker 1: Elliot's patient, Audrey, played by Kiana Madeira.
- 38:57Speaker 5: Well done, young lady.
- 38:58Speaker 3: Oh, she was fantastic.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Kiana, thunderous applause for Kiana. She's fantastic.
- 39:03Speaker 4: So natural.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Very natural. Again, the same thing I was talking about.
- 39:07Speaker 1: It was a moment where I saw an actress. I
- 39:09Speaker 1: saw someone who was coming up with everything they were
- 39:11Speaker 1: thinking while I was watching them. I thought she was marvelous.
- 39:15Speaker 4: And one of my favorite lines of Ava's, when your
- 39:18Speaker 4: line read of, Let her cook.
- 39:20Speaker 3: Oh my God.
- 39:20Speaker 1: That's so great. That's so Ava. That's very Ava.
- 39:23Speaker 5: That was also very funny where you're like, you know,
- 39:25Speaker 5: I'm going to, you're my priority. And Ava comes in
- 39:28Speaker 5: and is like, I'm going to cover you. because you
- 39:30Speaker 5: got like a hot date. And then you go into,
- 39:32Speaker 5: I'm going to ride your disease like it's a friend.
- 39:34Speaker 4: I'm going to ride it and bring it home with me.
- 39:37Speaker 4: Throw it on my desk.
- 39:39Speaker 5: And work it work it.
- 39:40Speaker 4: All night long we did that was fun we did
- 39:43Speaker 4: different versions of that on the day of like how
- 39:44Speaker 4: dirty can we say it and then pull it back.
- 39:47Speaker 5: It was pretty dirty it was pretty dirty and.
- 39:50Speaker 1: Ava had a line that was cut where she goes
- 39:52Speaker 1: she's a slut for Tess oh.
- 39:54Speaker 6: Yeah I like that.
- 39:57Speaker 3: One I did say.
- 40:02Speaker 1: That yeah which takes us to the burn her which
- 40:09Speaker 1: was awesome. Well, I wasn't there yet, Sarah. Oh, sorry, sorry, sorry.
- 40:13Speaker 1: But yes, since you already brought it up.
- 40:14Speaker 4: No, no, no, we can wait. We can wait.
- 40:16Speaker 1: We can wait. No, we already got there. Let's talk
- 40:18Speaker 1: about that fantasy when we're in sort of the, I
- 40:22Speaker 1: don't know, 1600s. And this woman has a, has something
- 40:27Speaker 1: I can't figure out and doesn't turn me on. Diagnosis?
- 40:30Speaker 2: Which?
- 40:32Speaker 5: Burn her!
- 40:33Speaker 4: Is it possible that it could require a little more
- 40:36Speaker 4: looking into?
- 40:37Speaker 1: Burn her ass too!
- 40:40Speaker 4: Another great example of so many departments. Set deck, art department,
- 40:46Speaker 4: Roger Fires, just like costumes, hair and makeup, like all
- 40:51Speaker 4: of it, just kind of knocking it out of the
- 40:53Speaker 4: park for what's going to live for 12 seconds on television.
- 40:56Speaker 1: And they did so much. They often, this art department
- 40:59Speaker 1: does stuff that people don't even see. Like what was
- 41:01Speaker 1: outside that window was like a perspective thing of a mountain.
- 41:05Speaker 1: And I mean, I walk on sometimes and I'm like,
- 41:08Speaker 1: oh no, you guys, that is so incredible. And no
- 41:12Speaker 1: one's going to see that. You know, they go so
- 41:14Speaker 1: far and above and beyond. And sometimes it's just like,
- 41:18Speaker 1: I want to be like, that's sometimes I'm like, we
- 41:22Speaker 1: have to shoot that because it's just so incredible what
- 41:24Speaker 1: they did.
- 41:24Speaker 5: You know?
- 41:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:25Speaker 5: Like the set. You know what I mean? Like this
- 41:28Speaker 5: is above and beyond. We were like, we just want
- 41:30Speaker 5: to do a podcast up here. Dude, there's tchotchkes. There's memorabilia.
- 41:34Speaker 5: There's rowdy. You know what I mean? They've gotten deep
- 41:37Speaker 5: into our minds. Like the things that you see in here.
- 41:39Speaker 1: There's things they can't even see. There's a brown bear
- 41:42Speaker 1: and a vanilla bear.
- 41:43Speaker 4: There's feelings police up in the corner.
- 41:44Speaker 2: There's all these Easter eggs.
- 41:46Speaker 5: You know what I mean? You know what I mean?
- 41:48Speaker 4: There's a Superman.
- 41:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean.
- 41:49Speaker 4: Superman.
- 41:50Speaker 1: There's our Funko Pops.
- 41:51Speaker 3: Gumby.
- 41:52Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's like.
- 41:53Speaker 1: There's an Appletini.
- 41:54Speaker 5: We got all of the shows in order right there.
- 41:58Speaker 2: It's like Roger was saying.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Have you ever seen a DVD, Ava?
- 42:00Speaker 4: No.
- 42:00Speaker 7: I actually have.
- 42:02Speaker 5: I saw you looking at that. Like, what the hell? So, Ava,
- 42:04Speaker 5: those are DVDs. You thought it was a book.
- 42:06Speaker 3: I have.
- 42:07Speaker 1: That's not a book, Ava.
- 42:08Speaker 3: And I think this one.
- 42:10Speaker 6: Well, I have an orange box set of scrubs on
- 42:14Speaker 6: my coffee table. And my friend Cam gave it to
- 42:18Speaker 6: me to bring here as a good omen to keep
- 42:20Speaker 6: on my coffee table.
- 42:21Speaker 3: So I've had it.
- 42:22Speaker 5: Have you ever cracked it open and watched any of it?
- 42:25Speaker 3: Well, I don't have a DVD player.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Did you ever have a DVD player?
- 42:29Speaker 3: When I was a kid.
- 42:30Speaker 5: Yeah, that's how she watched Cat in the Hat.
- 42:31Speaker 7: Yeah, that's how I watched Cat in the Hat with
- 42:33Speaker 7: Mike Myers.
- 42:37Speaker 5: Let's get into that.
- 42:37Speaker 1: No, we don't have time for Ava.
- 42:40Speaker 2: She's a guest.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Ava audience, her favorite movie is Cat in
- 42:45Speaker 1: the Hat with Mike Myers. She brings it up, I think,
- 42:47Speaker 1: almost every day.
- 42:48Speaker 2: I do.
- 42:49Speaker 4: Watches it every day.
- 42:50Speaker 1: And she quotes it. I do watch it every day.
- 42:52Speaker 1: She was going to bid on the costume that recently
- 42:54Speaker 1: went for.
- 42:56Speaker 4: $ 25, 000.
- 42:56Speaker 3: $ 25, 000 sold to an OnlyFans model.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Whatever.
- 42:59Speaker 5: Whatever.
- 42:59Speaker 3: Literally whatever. I don't even care.
- 43:02Speaker 4: She doesn't like it as much as you would have.
- 43:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 43:03Speaker 3: No, she doesn't.
- 43:04Speaker 1: An OnlyFans model bought the costume?
- 43:06Speaker 6: An OnlyFans model bought the costume in a glass box.
- 43:10Speaker 6: And my issue is I don't have a home to
- 43:13Speaker 6: put it.
- 43:13Speaker 1: And weren't your parents pretty upset that you were considering
- 43:16Speaker 1: buying this?
- 43:16Speaker 6: I called them and I was like, should I rip it? Like,
- 43:20Speaker 6: should I? And I was tracking it, too, to see, like,
- 43:24Speaker 6: when it was going up.
- 43:26Speaker 1: It's not a bit. You were considering buying it.
- 43:27Speaker 3: I was considering buying it.
- 43:29Speaker 6: I texted John Higgins and I was like, do you
- 43:33Speaker 6: think I should rip this?
- 43:34Speaker 3: He said yes. And then I called my parents and
- 43:37Speaker 3: they're like, don't do that. Do not do that.
- 43:38Speaker 1: We got to talk to Higgins about giving you bad advice.
- 43:40Speaker 5: I mean, that's pretty bad advice. So you didn't even
- 43:41Speaker 5: have an apartment.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Where were you going to put this glass case costume?
- 43:45Speaker 3: I don't know. You could hold it for me.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Oh, I was going to put it in my house
- 43:49Speaker 1: for you. I don't want it.
- 43:50Speaker 2: I've never seen the movie.
- 43:52Speaker 3: You can hold it for me.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Ava made the other interns cast watch this, hung over
- 43:57Speaker 1: one day.
- 43:57Speaker 3: On my birthday.
- 43:58Speaker 1: On her birthday. And they all gathered in her apartment,
- 44:01Speaker 1: including David Gridley's children.
- 44:02Speaker 4: I believe.
- 44:02Speaker 3: Yeah, David Gridley's children.
- 44:04Speaker 1: And everyone was so hung over trying to watch that
- 44:05Speaker 1: movie and they all complained that they got headaches.
- 44:07Speaker 5: Did the kids like it?
- 44:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 44:10Speaker 7: David's son, he looked scared, but I knew he loved it.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Oh, he just had a look of terror on his face.
- 44:16Speaker 7: He had a look of terror, but I think it
- 44:17Speaker 7: was more of like a look of like, He's soaking
- 44:20Speaker 7: it in.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Got it.
- 44:21Speaker 3: But that's what I really.
- 44:22Speaker 6: I feel like John Higgins has cat mannerisms on the
- 44:27Speaker 6: show as his character Grant.
- 44:29Speaker 4: Oh, interesting.
- 44:29Speaker 5: Definitely. Some cat-isms.
- 44:31Speaker 1: I really am excited to run into Mike Myers and
- 44:33Speaker 1: get him to make a video for you.
- 44:35Speaker 3: I'm like praying for that to happen.
- 44:37Speaker 1: That would be your dream, right?
- 44:38Speaker 3: It's my dream.
- 44:39Speaker 8: Okay.
- 44:39Speaker 1: Thank you. You guys, we spoke about.
- 44:43Speaker 3: Thank you so much.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Let's talk about Mimi, Turk's new sidekick nurse, who's very aggressive.
- 44:48Speaker 1: I laughed out loud when she screamed five minutes.
- 44:51Speaker 2: 15 minutes.
- 44:52Speaker 1: She's so good.
- 44:53Speaker 4: But then you have her do it through the intercom
- 44:54Speaker 4: and she still yells it.
- 44:55Speaker 1: She still yells to the intercom.
- 44:57Speaker 3: She's so funny.
- 44:57Speaker 4: And her loyalty to Turk.
- 44:59Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 44:59Speaker 1: She loves him. She smelled him.
- 45:00Speaker 5: The loyalty to the church is non-existent. What are you
- 45:03Speaker 5: talking about? She's the biggest snitch ever.
- 45:05Speaker 2: I know, but she doesn't want to be hierarchies.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Latina code, nurse code.
- 45:08Speaker 5: Listen, man, she's a snitch for that.
- 45:10Speaker 2: She loves you.
- 45:12Speaker 1: That was so hard for her.
- 45:14Speaker 5: No, it wasn't. What was hard was that she had
- 45:16Speaker 5: to be like, yo, I snitched, yo. I'm a snitch.
- 45:19Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 45:20Speaker 8: Donald, if somebody came up to you and said black code,
- 45:23Speaker 8: does this not override your professional code?
- 45:25Speaker 5: Against who?
- 45:27Speaker 2: Another brother?
- 45:28Speaker 4: I guess actor code?
- 45:29Speaker 2: Another brother?
- 45:29Speaker 7: I think it's actor code, maybe?
- 45:32Speaker 5: If it's black code against another brother, I'm like, look,
- 45:35Speaker 5: it's not. What the? What you talking about?
- 45:38Speaker 6: Willis?
- 45:38Speaker 1: Willis?
- 45:40Speaker 2: Wu-Tang forever.
- 45:43Speaker 5: Wu-Tang forever. Wu-Tang is forever.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Okay. Okay, so let's talk about, we talked about Sarah
- 45:50Speaker 1: in the cafeteria. That was hilarious.
- 45:52Speaker 5: So what about you and Rachel in the cafeteria?
- 45:54Speaker 2: I laughed out loud.
- 45:55Speaker 4: When she says, somebody's really stepped up their performance for
- 45:59Speaker 4: the parrot.
- 46:00Speaker 1: The parrot?
- 46:00Speaker 2: The parrot. Go, go, go.
- 46:02Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
- 46:02Speaker 5: But that's because he wanted you to leave.
- 46:05Speaker 6: Oh.
- 46:05Speaker 1: We made that up on the day.
- 46:06Speaker 2: Oh, you did?
- 46:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:07Speaker 2: That was really, really funny.
- 46:09Speaker 5: It played so great.
- 46:10Speaker 4: And her just being completely baffled that like, this is...
- 46:13Speaker 4: How they're up in there.
- 46:13Speaker 1: This is them flirting?
- 46:14Speaker 4: Is this going well?
- 46:15Speaker 1: Charlie being confused by this is how Sean and Elliot flirt.
- 46:19Speaker 5: But I love the exit line. They have such great chemistry.
- 46:23Speaker 5: I know. Really?
- 46:25Speaker 7: Really?
- 46:26Speaker 1: Or did she say what? Yeah.
- 46:28Speaker 5: One of those.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Lillian is not into JD. And every joke he tries
- 46:34Speaker 1: with her.
- 46:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 46:36Speaker 1: She's just not into it.
- 46:37Speaker 5: She's like, you remind me of my son. Do I
- 46:39Speaker 5: remind you of anyone?
- 46:41Speaker 1: No one you'd find flattering.
- 46:43Speaker 2: Amazing. She's so good.
- 46:45Speaker 3: Incredible lining.
- 46:47Speaker 1: I love that J.D. goes, I'm worried about her mental
- 46:50Speaker 1: acuity because that joke was hilarious.
- 46:55Speaker 3: She's so good.
- 46:57Speaker 5: Michael James Scott, also amazing, as always, helping. The scene along, too.
- 47:02Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Let's talk about Gridley Blake crip-walking and ham-hands. And twerking
- 47:08Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 47:09Speaker 5: Okay. Ham-hands. That was a day because we threw a
- 47:13Speaker 5: bunch of different dances at Gridley.
- 47:15Speaker 1: David can really dance.
- 47:16Speaker 5: He can move.
- 47:17Speaker 4: He can dance.
- 47:18Speaker 3: He can really bust it.
- 47:20Speaker 1: You guys recently did a TikTok dance trend.
- 47:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 47:22Speaker 1: And David, he was probably pretty great at it. Oh,
- 47:25Speaker 1: you didn't really let him do all the moves.
- 47:26Speaker 6: What?
- 47:28Speaker 4: But he just sent me the next one because obviously,
- 47:31Speaker 4: as you know, one of my main EP duties is
- 47:33Speaker 4: now going to be to keep these dances going. I'm
- 47:34Speaker 4: really excited.
- 47:35Speaker 1: Sarah loves a TikTok dance trend.
- 47:38Speaker 4: I love any dance choreography. A choreographed dance number I've
- 47:41Speaker 4: always loved. But the fact that that turns out that
- 47:43Speaker 4: it's some sort of TikTok trend.
- 47:45Speaker 5: Well, that's the new thing that the kids are doing.
- 47:48Speaker 1: It's not a new thing that the kids are doing.
- 47:50Speaker 5: Oh, it's old?
- 47:51Speaker 1: Yeah, but I like that Sarah has finally found a
- 47:54Speaker 1: purpose for her executive producer credit, and she's going to
- 47:56Speaker 1: help wrangle everyone to do TikTok dance.
- 47:59Speaker 4: Yeah, on a very, very regular basis. So, so Gridley
- 48:02Speaker 4: sent me one.
- 48:03Speaker 1: She's got a new one. And I was like, I
- 48:05Speaker 1: was like, Donald's going to be able to do that. And,
- 48:07Speaker 1: and Gridley's going to be able to do that. You're
- 48:08Speaker 1: going to need some rehearsal. And I will rehearse.
- 48:10Speaker 4: Oh, I'm going to get it.
- 48:11Speaker 2: You're good.
- 48:12Speaker 5: You're a good dancer.
- 48:13Speaker 2: Michael James Scott.
- 48:13Speaker 4: Yeah. I said, Michael James Scott was like, that's ambitious.
- 48:15Speaker 4: And I was like, okay, if Michael James Scott thinks
- 48:17Speaker 4: this is ambitious.
- 48:17Speaker 1: But then I watch it and I was like, Sarah,
- 48:19Speaker 1: you can get this. Because they, you know, on YouTube,
- 48:21Speaker 1: they have like the slow-mo like practice video.
- 48:24Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 48:24Speaker 3: What dance is it? Do you know the song?
- 48:27Speaker 4: It's Jason Derulio.
- 48:28Speaker 2: Oh, DeRulio?
- 48:29Speaker 1: DeRulio. Is it Jason DeRulio?
- 48:32Speaker 7: Jason DeRulio.
- 48:33Speaker 2: Cut that, cut that, cut.
- 48:34Speaker 1: That, Joelle.
- 48:35Speaker 5: No, Joelle.
- 48:35Speaker 4: Cut that.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Cut that power.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Only Donald knows.
- 48:39Speaker 4: Jason DeRulio.
- 48:41Speaker 5: Joelle.
- 48:41Speaker 4: Joelle, you're my favorite.
- 48:43Speaker 1: I got to say it.
- 48:44Speaker 2: I got to say it.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Joelle and I.
- 48:47Speaker 2: Jason Derulio.
- 48:48Speaker 3: That's really funny.
- 48:49Speaker 4: Guys, I'm 50.
- 48:50Speaker 5: Did she say Jason Derulio?
- 48:51Speaker 1: No, I didn't.
- 48:52Speaker 5: Or did she say Jason Derulio?
- 48:54Speaker 1: No, she said Jason Derulio.
- 48:56Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 48:58Speaker 3: It's Jason Derulio.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Jason. Jason Derulio.
- 49:03Speaker 5: It's Jason Derulo.
- 49:05Speaker 7: Oh, Jason.
- 49:05Speaker 5: Okay, let's take a new take.
- 49:08Speaker 1: You don't have cut power.
- 49:09Speaker 2: That was funny.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Cut power is only for the hosts.
- 49:12Speaker 4: I'm 50, you guys.
- 49:14Speaker 1: What does that have to.
- 49:15Speaker 7: Do with anything?
- 49:16Speaker 1: You don't look 50. You look 29.
- 49:18Speaker 3: You're the youngest woman I've ever met.
- 49:23Speaker 1: Sometimes when we're color correcting, I look at Ava's skin
- 49:26Speaker 1: and I'm like, can you make my skin look like
- 49:28Speaker 1: Ava's skin?
- 49:30Speaker 2: Same, please.
- 49:31Speaker 1: Like when I'm in the same shot as Ava, I
- 49:33Speaker 1: look at it and I'm like, Jesus Christ. Is there
- 49:37Speaker 1: a way you could like take just a sample of
- 49:38Speaker 1: her skin and move it over to my face?
- 49:41Speaker 3: Same youth.
- 49:43Speaker 1: You look amazing, Sarah. You do.
- 49:45Speaker 3: It's impressive.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Let's talk about ham hands. That was funny.
- 49:47Speaker 3: Ham hands.
- 49:49Speaker 1: Very stoner, very stonery.
- 49:50Speaker 5: Classic scrub stoner joke.
- 49:52Speaker 1: Joelle, did you like ham hands?
- 49:54Speaker 5: I was dying at hand.
- 49:55Speaker 8: Again, sometimes it's striking how similar this is to the
- 49:59Speaker 8: original run because it does feel like Hammer Hands could have.
- 50:01Speaker 5: Been in the original run of the series.
- 50:03Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely.
- 50:04Speaker 8: And then also I was like picturing it and I
- 50:06Speaker 8: thought maybe we have like a standard hand like picturing.
- 50:09Speaker 1: A whole hammer.
- 50:11Speaker 7: Why would you try to put the needle in it?
- 50:13Speaker 4: It was ridiculous. It was so funny.
- 50:14Speaker 2: I loved it. Can't we're virgins?
- 50:17Speaker 1: When we're cutting his hands where Gridley was like.
- 50:20Speaker 2: Why are my hands ham? He's so good.
- 50:24Speaker 1: It's so funny.
- 50:25Speaker 2: It's so funny.
- 50:26Speaker 1: We're like more horror movie versions that we cut out.
- 50:29Speaker 1: We just made it the making a sandwich version.
- 50:31Speaker 4: Fantastic.
- 50:33Speaker 1: Okay, let's talk.
- 50:34Speaker 5: Honey Blake ham.
- 50:35Speaker 4: Honey Blake ham.
- 50:37Speaker 1: So let's talk about that moving ending with Blake.
- 50:42Speaker 5: Okay, but before we do that, let's go back to
- 50:43Speaker 5: the cafeteria with. with John and David. That shit made
- 50:49Speaker 5: me laugh so hard. I lost my wallet. Thanks for
- 50:51Speaker 5: getting the food. And then to finish it, oh, there
- 50:55Speaker 5: it is.
- 50:56Speaker 2: There it is. Found it.
- 50:58Speaker 1: There it is. So he was just lying. He was
- 51:01Speaker 1: going to give him bad news and then make him
- 51:03Speaker 1: pay for coffee.
- 51:04Speaker 5: And then he felt so bad about the bad news
- 51:06Speaker 5: that he gave him when he realized that Blake is,
- 51:10Speaker 5: the only reason why he's getting into cardiology is because
- 51:12Speaker 5: of his mother. And how he had to watch his
- 51:15Speaker 5: mom die. And he, you know, wants to, if he
- 51:19Speaker 5: could save people, because he felt like he couldn't save
- 51:22Speaker 5: his mom, that would make him feel amazing. And that
- 51:25Speaker 5: really sets up the final scene.
- 51:26Speaker 1: It's so beautiful. The acting between both of them in
- 51:30Speaker 1: that final scene when she's dying is so moving. And
- 51:34Speaker 1: David just did a, I mean, they both did, but
- 51:36Speaker 1: I just want to call out David because he's our
- 51:38Speaker 1: cast member. He did such a beautiful job there.
- 51:40Speaker 5: Her eyes when she sees him. And she's excited because
- 51:44Speaker 5: she thinks it's her boy. And his, at first, being,
- 51:53Speaker 5: you know.
- 51:54Speaker 1: He's going to stop it.
- 51:56Speaker 5: Yeah, he's like, I'm not going to. Actually, I'm. And
- 51:58Speaker 5: then realizing, oh, wait a second. This could be her
- 52:01Speaker 5: final moment. How would I want my mom to have
- 52:05Speaker 5: gone out when she was watching me?
- 52:09Speaker 1: Or also just a chance to, you know, his mom
- 52:12Speaker 1: never saw him as a doctor, never saw all that
- 52:15Speaker 1: he'd achieved. And the fact that he got to have
- 52:18Speaker 1: a moment, a pretend imaginary moment with his mom seeing
- 52:23Speaker 1: him as a doctor, that was so moving to me.
- 52:27Speaker 5: Absolutely. And her seeing him as her final, you know,
- 52:32Speaker 5: that's all she was really holding on for. She even
- 52:34Speaker 5: says it, I waited for you. You know, oh my
- 52:37Speaker 5: goodness gracious, that scene broke me apart. Every time I
- 52:40Speaker 5: watch it, there's like that, you know, that histamine feeling
- 52:43Speaker 5: that you get in your face when you're about to cry,
- 52:45Speaker 5: you know what I mean?
- 52:46Speaker 1: I want to say that the song is Monrovia Old
- 52:50Speaker 1: Fort Steel Train that's playing there, if you're curious.
- 52:53Speaker 4: It's perfectly placed.
- 52:54Speaker 3: It's so good.
- 52:55Speaker 4: The first time I saw it, the cut, I, you know,
- 52:59Speaker 4: we were at work and I watched it and I
- 53:01Speaker 4: was like in, you know, full work hair and makeup
- 53:03Speaker 4: and we had to go do a scene and I
- 53:05Speaker 4: was like, oh shit, this is going to turn into
- 53:07Speaker 4: like A real ugly cry. Like it's so moving.
- 53:10Speaker 1: Sarah was trying to protect her show makeup while she
- 53:13Speaker 1: was watching.
- 53:16Speaker 4: It's so moving. And just like, you know, my favorite
- 53:19Speaker 4: part of Scrubs, like you think about that episode and
- 53:21Speaker 4: how many laughs we've just talked about. And then that
- 53:23Speaker 4: gut punch at the end, like to be able to
- 53:25Speaker 4: like have both of those. So crazy.
- 53:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I watched.
- 53:31Speaker 6: It in Village when it was happening and I started
- 53:34Speaker 6: crying and I was like, wait, I know that that's
- 53:37Speaker 6: David and this isn't real but why am I crying?
- 53:40Speaker 4: Like, it was so good.
- 53:41Speaker 6: And that hasn't happened for me before where you're like
- 53:43Speaker 6: watching it be filmed.
- 53:45Speaker 1: I really like, by the way, that you're hanging out
- 53:47Speaker 1: on set. You know, it's what I used to do
- 53:49Speaker 1: and these guys would do sometimes but me more than
- 53:51Speaker 1: anyone because I wanted to be a filmmaker and I
- 53:53Speaker 1: always say, if you want, aspire to be a director
- 53:56Speaker 1: or producer, this is the best grad school ever and
- 53:59Speaker 1: A lot of our interns, especially Ava, hang out and
- 54:04Speaker 1: are learning and asking questions when they're not shooting. And
- 54:08Speaker 1: it's like the greatest opportunity to learn.
- 54:11Speaker 8: It is.
- 54:12Speaker 1: I mean, you will learn more than you could have
- 54:13Speaker 1: ever in any film school. Just hanging out by the monitor,
- 54:16Speaker 1: asking people questions, asking the director questions. And I'm glad
- 54:19Speaker 1: that you do that. I saw you were talking to them.
- 54:21Speaker 1: One of our first AC camera assistants learning about pulling
- 54:25Speaker 1: focus one time.
- 54:27Speaker 3: He was letting me pull focus on the rehearsals.
- 54:29Speaker 4: It's so hard. It feels like a video game.
- 54:32Speaker 3: It's really cool.
- 54:34Speaker 1: But that's great. I'm happy to do that.
- 54:36Speaker 4: We have such incredible directors. So it is a crazy
- 54:38Speaker 4: opportunity to just go and watch what's unique about each
- 54:41Speaker 4: of them.
- 54:42Speaker 3: And I'll gas you guys up real quick. And watching
- 54:45Speaker 3: you guys cook out there.
- 54:47Speaker 7: But, like, genuinely, I've learned so much from, like.
- 54:49Speaker 6: From you guys about acting, directing, everything, and just, like,
- 54:53Speaker 6: how to carry yourself being, like, leading a show.
- 54:56Speaker 3: It's very cool to watch.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 54:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 54:58Speaker 1: We have a lot of fun on this show.
- 55:00Speaker 5: Me too.
- 55:00Speaker 1: Me too. I want to just end with Turk and
- 55:04Speaker 1: JD in a couples counseling session. Which was kind of
- 55:08Speaker 1: funny because as I was watching it this morning again,
- 55:09Speaker 1: I was like, this kind of is real life, but Casey,
- 55:12Speaker 1: Donald's wife, is our couples counselor. Well, remember when we
- 55:16Speaker 1: did a podcast once and we got in a huge
- 55:18Speaker 1: fight before we even started recording? Because Donald was late.
- 55:22Speaker 4: Why?
- 55:22Speaker 6: See?
- 55:22Speaker 1: Well, anyway, we didn't have to bring it up, but
- 55:26Speaker 1: we got in a big fight and like, we almost,
- 55:28Speaker 1: I was like, well, let's not do the podcast. Right?
- 55:31Speaker 1: So we didn't do it. We didn't do the podcast
- 55:33Speaker 1: that day.
- 55:33Speaker 5: You were like, I don't want to do the podcast
- 55:35Speaker 5: because I'm angry. And I was like, all right, nigga,
- 55:38Speaker 5: be angry.
- 55:39Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you can see part of the problem. And
- 55:43Speaker 1: Donald's inability to.
- 55:45Speaker 5: And I'll never forget Joelle and Donald's face. They were
- 55:48Speaker 5: sitting there like, what the... And I think we were like,
- 55:50Speaker 5: you know, maybe... Two months in, something like that.
- 55:53Speaker 1: By the way, the whole thing's recorded, and we were
- 55:56Speaker 1: joking that we should release the fight. You know, they
- 55:58Speaker 1: always say release the Zack Snyder cut. Release the fight.
- 56:01Speaker 1: Because it's a big fight, and it's all recorded.
- 56:03Speaker 4: Would you ever release the fight?
- 56:05Speaker 1: No, there's no need. But the fans have said, release
- 56:08Speaker 1: the fight.
- 56:09Speaker 2: That's really funny.
- 56:10Speaker 3: You should release it.
- 56:11Speaker 5: I'll never forget. Joelle's face was like, what the? We
- 56:14Speaker 5: just started.
- 56:15Speaker 8: And I was like- I thought the podcast had ruined
- 56:17Speaker 8: 20 years of friendship. I said, what is happening?
- 56:18Speaker 3: It was scary.
- 56:19Speaker 4: I didn't like it.
- 56:20Speaker 5: And then Casey- Joelle, do you remember what I said
- 56:22Speaker 5: to you? I was like, it's going to be fine.
- 56:24Speaker 5: We'll just come back tomorrow and do this shit.
- 56:26Speaker 2: Don't worry about it.
- 56:27Speaker 1: And then Casey called me. She's like, y'all need to
- 56:29Speaker 1: stop this nonsense.
- 56:33Speaker 5: Why does she sound like a prospector every time? Y'all,
- 56:38Speaker 5: we gonna get the gold, y'all.
- 56:40Speaker 2: Y'all need to stop this nonsense immediately.
- 56:42Speaker 1: There's gold in this cage. Y'all are best friends. You
- 56:47Speaker 1: need to use a when you are feel statement.
- 56:50Speaker 4: That's not how Casey sounds.
- 56:51Speaker 2: That's not how he sounds.
- 56:53Speaker 5: She's like freaking God, there's gold in them caves. All right.
- 57:00Speaker 4: Yeah, you guys were so funny in that scene. When
- 57:02Speaker 4: you're like, where's the room for me in any of this?
- 57:04Speaker 1: I love that. Yes, Joelle.
- 57:05Speaker 3: So funny.
- 57:07Speaker 8: I also cried at the JD telling Elliot how he
- 57:11Speaker 8: really feels about their divorce.
- 57:13Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 57:14Speaker 5: I thought that was so beautiful.
- 57:16Speaker 8: I was literally, I mean, it's such a hard thing
- 57:19Speaker 8: to separate. Nobody knows how painful it was except the
- 57:22Speaker 8: two of us. And I think you should, you deserve
- 57:25Speaker 8: to be happy. I was like, this is the catharsis
- 57:28Speaker 8: as a fan that I need. Like it really, I mean, listen,
- 57:31Speaker 8: not to be dramatic. It took me a lot to
- 57:32Speaker 8: accept that JD and Elliot were not going to get
- 57:33Speaker 8: back together. I was like, I'm not okay with it.
- 57:36Speaker 8: But this helped me be okay with it. I really
- 57:38Speaker 8: appreciated this.
- 57:39Speaker 5: What I really liked about it was the hint of
- 57:41Speaker 5: disappointment from Elliot too, though. You know what I mean?
- 57:44Speaker 5: It was like, dude, what the fuck kind of, okay. That's,
- 57:48Speaker 5: you know what? You're right.
- 57:49Speaker 1: We are trying to give her the gift of saying like, don't,
- 57:53Speaker 1: you know, I'm starting to feel feelings for someone. I don't, don't,
- 57:58Speaker 1: you know, all my feelings for Sean aside, don't not
- 58:01Speaker 1: take this opportunity to, to, to maybe get to know
- 58:04Speaker 1: someone again, since, especially since JD sabotaged it so many times.
- 58:07Speaker 5: Well, I feel like the whole episode she was trying
- 58:09Speaker 5: to tell him, yo, you don't need to worry about me.
- 58:11Speaker 5: Let me do my thing. I'll figure it out. And
- 58:14Speaker 5: then you do that to her. And she's like, Okay,
- 58:19Speaker 5: maybe he's not listening, but yeah, I guess, you know.
- 58:21Speaker 1: No, but he's saying, I think that I'm calling you
- 58:25Speaker 1: out as someone who loves you. You're not taking the
- 58:30Speaker 1: risk because you don't want to get hurt again.
- 58:32Speaker 4: And then she listens and she goes.
- 58:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 58:34Speaker 4: And like, it was, I love that she thinks, why
- 58:37Speaker 4: are you flirting with Toby? Yeah.
- 58:39Speaker 3: I love that part.
- 58:40Speaker 1: And we had to cut out a really funny little
- 58:42Speaker 1: mini storyline with Rachel and I and some otters. Rachel
- 58:46Speaker 1: gets scratched by an otter. Yes, it was so cute.
- 58:49Speaker 4: I'm so upset.
- 58:50Speaker 1: It's so cute. Rachel turns around because Scott's character helped
- 58:53Speaker 1: her meet an otter that she loves. And J.D. goes
- 58:56Speaker 1: to meet her. And she has the cutest little scratch
- 58:59Speaker 1: on her face. And she goes, never meet your heroes.
- 59:02Speaker 1: Oscar's a dick. And then I've got an otter stuffed animal.
- 59:06Speaker 1: And I go, so you don't want this? And she goes, no,
- 59:08Speaker 1: I want it. it was so cute but cut for
- 59:12Speaker 1: time this is why we.
- 59:14Speaker 4: Need the Hulu cut extension please let us show adorable

- 59:23Speaker 4: last thing Donald and Judy are so fucking cute and

- 59:28Speaker 4: when she fishes.
- 59:30Speaker 2: For you and you dance into her.
- 59:32Speaker 1: Yeah, that's cute. It's one of the best moments.
- 59:33Speaker 5: I do love my chemistry with Judy Reyes.
