• 2:36
Speaker 4: Metro News, meneorlogist Brian Hughes says the heat continues today
• 2:39
Speaker 4: oppressive heat only a slight chance of late afternoon showers
• 2:41
Speaker 4: and thunderstorms. Highs in the upper nineties. Heat and acts
• 2:44
Speaker 4: about one oh seven slight chance rain tonight, low only
• 2:48
Speaker 4: in the mid seventies. To make sure you hydrate with water,
• 2:51
Speaker 4: water if you're heading to the concerts to night at
• 2:53
Speaker 4: regatta or at the Capitol. Upper nineties again tomorrow for
• 2:55
Speaker 4: the fourth heating next about one oh six. We might
• 2:59
Speaker 4: finally get a breaking maybe early next week, but probably
• 3:01
Speaker 4: not probably not likely so You can follow a bit

• 3:33
  Speaker 2: us again today.
• 3:35
Speaker 7: Hey, gets familiar with her voice.
• 3:38
Speaker 2: Because you must go to target. Is that what you're saying? Yeah,
• 3:41
Speaker 2: because if you go to Target, that's the voice you hear.
• 3:44
Speaker 2: I guess I've said that. That's still a thing, right Amy.
• 3:47
  Speaker 2: I think so.
• 3:47
Speaker 6: I'm turned off in a lot of locations, but yeah,
• 3:50
Speaker 6: I'm still there in upstate New York. I talked to
• 3:52
Speaker 6: a guy the other day and he's like, yeah, no,
• 3:53
Speaker 6: you're there. You're reminding me about your receipt there you
• 3:56
  Speaker 6: got my.
• 3:56
Speaker 4: Receipt there you go, all right, Angie joins the seat
• 4:00
Speaker 4: week with our adopt Me Please Pet of the Week
• 4:02
Speaker 4: and we'll get right to it. As always, I get
• 4:04
Speaker 4: the picture posted on Dave alland Radio and Facebook and
• 4:06
Speaker 4: the WCHS Network Facebook page as well as at Dave
• 4:09
Speaker 4: A seventy i X tell us about Batman.
• 4:13
Speaker 7: So Batman originally came to Kseha after he was originally
• 4:19
Speaker 7: owned by someone. She fell on hard times with her
• 4:21
Speaker 7: health and could no longer take care of him, so
• 4:24
Speaker 7: that's how he ended up with us. He's about a
• 4:26
Speaker 7: year to two years old. He's great with other dogs,
• 4:30
Speaker 7: loves to play with other dogs, great with kids, housebroken
• 4:33
Speaker 7: and create trained, and we are unsure how he does
• 4:36
Speaker 7: with cats. The owner was also unsure, but you know,
• 4:39
Speaker 7: as always, we can provide info on how they introduce
• 4:41
Speaker 7: him to cats if you're interested.
• 4:44
Speaker 4: How exactly does that work if you're trying to if
• 4:46
  Speaker 4: you don't know, I mean, obviously, don't just put a.
• 4:48
Speaker 2: Cat in front of him.
• 4:48
  Speaker 4: I mean, I mean I wouldn't think, I mean, he
• 4:50
Speaker 4: wouldn't throw it in front of him anyway.
• 4:51
Speaker 2: But how exactly does it work when you're trying to
• 4:53
  Speaker 2: find out? Because I'm a cat person. I haven't had
• 4:56
Speaker 2: a dog in several years, So how exactly is the
• 4:59
Speaker 2: best way to go about that?
• 5:02
Speaker 7: We always recommend taking things very very slow. So for example,
• 5:07
Speaker 7: keeping either the dog or the cat in a room
• 5:10
Speaker 7: opposite from where the other animal is living, letting them
• 5:14
Speaker 7: smell each other through the doorways. Uh, you know, doing
• 5:17
Speaker 7: that for a couple of days, letting them get familiar
• 5:19
Speaker 7: with each other since, and then once again taking things
• 5:22
Speaker 7: very slow and cautiously. So on leash intros in the home.
• 5:26
Speaker 7: That way, if you know, you notice this dog is
• 5:29
Speaker 7: trying to go after the cat, you know you have
• 5:30
Speaker 7: a way to keep the cat safe. But slow and
• 5:34
Speaker 7: steady wins the race. When introducing dogs who are unfamiliar
• 5:38
Speaker 7: with two in home pets, well.
• 5:40
Speaker 2: And I would say, I mean that's actually true of
• 5:42
Speaker 2: cats too. I mean that's the way when we've took
• 5:44
Speaker 2: in our latest stray, which has been been about a
• 5:47
Speaker 2: year and a half ago, that's the same thing we did.
• 5:49
Speaker 4: You know, you put them, put them in a room,
• 5:50
Speaker 4: shut the door, and let them kind of smell each
• 5:52
Speaker 4: other under the door. Yeah, what kind of dog are
• 5:55
Speaker 4: we talking about here?
• 5:55
  Speaker 8: With batman Y?
• 5:56
Speaker 7: I mean his owner said that he was a lab
• 5:59
Speaker 7: and it will mix.
• 6:01
Speaker 2: Okay. Is that is that a common mix?
• 6:05
Speaker 7: Yeah? I would say that that's pretty common throughout shelters
• 6:08
Speaker 7: across the nation and not just unique to West Virginia,
• 6:11
Speaker 7: but I mean everywhere shelters are full with that mixed breed.
• 6:16
Speaker 2: I want to talk about the heat.
• 6:17
Speaker 4: First of all, don't be an uncarrying idiot and leave
• 6:21
Speaker 4: your pets outside for long periods of time, and certainly
• 6:25
Speaker 4: not in a car, right correct.
• 6:28
Speaker 7: Do not leave your pets in the car if they
• 6:31
Speaker 7: have outdoor sheds or pins or however you're keeping them.
• 6:35
Speaker 7: Also try to avoid leaving them out there. Just yesterday,
• 6:38
Speaker 7: we did have a cat come in suffering some heat
• 6:41
Speaker 7: stroke because he was left in a in a home
• 6:44
Speaker 7: with no air conditioning. He is okay, he you know,
• 6:47
Speaker 7: our medical team was able to stabilize him yesterday. But
• 6:51
Speaker 7: that's just the very real reality that we're living in
• 6:55
Speaker 7: that it can happen to your pets in your area.
• 6:59
Speaker 6: Go ahead, Amy, and don't forget the excuse me, and
• 7:01
Speaker 6: don't forget the walking to their little pause.
• 7:04
Speaker 2: I've got a text about that. Actually, we have a
• 7:06
Speaker 2: text here that says, yesterday I saw so many dogs
• 7:08
Speaker 2: being walked before the concert. So can I please just
• 7:10
Speaker 2: ask everyone to remember one thing. If the asphalt is
• 7:13
Speaker 2: too hot for you to walk on barefoot, and just
• 7:16
Speaker 2: imagine how hot, painful and truly dangerous it is on
• 7:18
Speaker 2: their pawpads, Please cover their pawpads before you go out.
• 7:22
Speaker 2: And that was from a texture.
• 7:23
Speaker 6: So we'll walk in the evening or something.
• 7:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, exactly what.
• 7:26
Speaker 7: Yeah, We've had two dogs come in with burns to
• 7:30
Speaker 7: their pawpads as well, so this heat is very real.
• 7:32
Speaker 7: It's very dangerous two pets, So keep that in mind
• 7:35
Speaker 7: when you are taking care of yours.
• 7:37
Speaker 2: Right, So what are the symptoms? I mean you said,
• 7:40
Speaker 2: is it like with humans? Are the symptoms pretty much
• 7:43
Speaker 2: the same if they're suffering from heatstroke? I mean, how
• 7:45
Speaker 2: does I know? You're not a doctor, but obviously you
• 7:47
Speaker 2: deal with these things a lot. What are the symptoms
• 7:49
Speaker 2: in animals? Dogs and cats?
• 7:51
Speaker 7: So you're going to be looking for excessive panting, and
• 7:54
Speaker 7: of course some panting is normal in dogs and in cats,
• 7:58
Speaker 7: but excessive panting to where you know they can't really breathe.
• 8:01
Speaker 7: You're going to be looking for a lot of drooling,
• 8:04
Speaker 7: stupor its heat strokes can also lead to seizures, So
• 8:08
Speaker 7: you're going to be looking for those types of symptoms
• 8:11
Speaker 7: of an animal that looks really confused and doesn't that
• 8:13
Speaker 7: where it's that possibly collapsing with a lot of drool,
• 8:17
Speaker 7: heavy panting, and then once again the most dangerous is
• 8:22
Speaker 7: leading into seizures. So those are all the symptoms of
• 8:25
Speaker 7: heat stroke. It's kind of similar to what you would
• 8:28
Speaker 7: see in a human. But yeah, definitely if you notice
• 8:31
Speaker 7: those symptoms in your pet or a straight animal, rush
• 8:34
Speaker 7: them to an emergency clinic as soon as possible.
• 8:36
Speaker 2: And I didn't want to bring this up too with
• 8:38
Speaker 2: the fireworks going off this weekend. You know, those can
• 8:41
Speaker 2: be brutal on pets. Sometimes My cats couldn't care less.
• 8:44
Speaker 2: I mean really they don't care. But it's not the
• 8:46
Speaker 2: case with all pets, cats, dogs and others. What can
• 8:50
Speaker 2: owners do to maybe alleviate some of that stress.
• 8:54
Speaker 7: So preparation starts now. It actually started about a week
• 8:57
Speaker 7: ago for your pets and the fourth of July. But
• 9:01
Speaker 7: if you are just now getting around to it and
• 9:06
Speaker 7: your vet's office is closed, you're not able to purchase,
• 9:08
Speaker 7: you know, prescription medicine or what have you. Some easy
• 9:11
Speaker 7: tips are to leave your pets at home. Don't let
• 9:14
Speaker 7: them come to the Fourth of July festivities. Without fail,
• 9:18
Speaker 7: Almost every year regatta there is some pet that goes
• 9:21
Speaker 7: missing that you know joined in the festivities and accidentally
• 9:24
Speaker 7: got away away from their owner. So leave your pets
• 9:28
Speaker 7: at home. If you are planning on bringing your pets
• 9:31
Speaker 7: and they must come with you, make sure that their
• 9:33
Speaker 7: microchip information is up to date. Make sure they have
• 9:36
Speaker 7: a tag with all of your information on it. If
• 9:38
Speaker 7: you cannot get a microchip or a tag on short notice,
• 9:42
Speaker 7: you can write your info down on their collar with
• 9:44
Speaker 7: a sharpie or you know, some sort of tags. So
• 9:48
Speaker 7: just making sure that all of your contact info is
• 9:51
Speaker 7: up today and or leaving your pets at home is
• 9:53
Speaker 7: going to be the best policy to make sure that
• 9:55
Speaker 7: they stay with you well.
• 9:56
Speaker 4: And sometimes though, we hear stories of pets in the
• 9:59
Speaker 4: neighborhoods that get frightened. If you know a dog that
• 10:02
Speaker 4: you normally let go outside to do his business or whatever,
• 10:05
Speaker 4: here's those fireworks and just takes off from their home,
• 10:07
Speaker 4: their home that they've lived in for years.
• 10:08
Speaker 2: That's not uncommon. I know you folks here, that's those
• 10:10
Speaker 2: stories all the time.
• 10:11
Speaker 7: Angie absolutely as any type of fireworks situation, because I
• 10:16
Speaker 7: know a lot of local neighborhoods and communities will also
• 10:19
Speaker 7: let off fireworks. Just keep in mind your pet does
• 10:23
Speaker 7: not understand what's happening. They for them, the sky is
• 10:26
Speaker 7: essentially exploding, so they are going to get scared. They
• 10:30
Speaker 7: are going to run and take cover. So just keep
• 10:32
Speaker 7: in mind, make sure you have a very good hold
• 10:35
Speaker 7: on all of your animals this weekend. That way, again,
• 10:38
Speaker 7: we don't want to see them at our shelter. We
• 10:40
Speaker 7: want them to be at home with you.
• 10:42
Speaker 2: Got a text here for you for Angie. Have you
• 10:44
Speaker 2: heard from Hennessy's family since he got home.
• 10:48
Speaker 7: I have not heard anything personally after they have arrived home.
• 10:53
Speaker 7: I do know that they made it home safely, and
• 10:55
Speaker 7: they were extremely grateful to every donation. Everyone that you
• 11:00
Speaker 7: talked about their story and wished them well. We sent them,
• 11:03
Speaker 7: you know, sympathy. So I do know that they made
• 11:06
Speaker 7: it home safely. But I have not heard anything since
• 11:09
Speaker 7: them arriving back in Iowa.
• 11:10
Speaker 2: Amy, are you familiar with the story we're talking about Tennessee?
• 11:13
Speaker 2: This was last week on I sixty four. There was
• 11:15
Speaker 2: a tragic accident involving the trucker and a passenger vehicle
• 11:20
Speaker 2: and the trucker lost his life. He was a guy
• 11:21
Speaker 2: from Iowa and he was killed in the act. And
• 11:23
Speaker 2: we had his dog in the truck with him and
• 11:25
Speaker 2: some mearitans, some good Samaritans, you know, the truck was
• 11:29
Speaker 2: on fire. They broke out.
• 11:31
Speaker 4: The windows, they climbed in, they got the dog out,
• 11:34
Speaker 4: and they were able to save the dog's life, tragically,
• 11:37
Speaker 4: not the trucker. And so they were able they were
• 11:40
Speaker 4: trying to through the power of social media actually being
• 11:43
Speaker 4: used for something good. For once, they were able to
• 11:45
Speaker 4: track down the truck driver's family that lived in Iowa,
• 11:51
Speaker 4: and those folks had to come into West Virginia, I
• 11:54
Speaker 4: guess earlier this week, was.
• 11:55
Speaker 7: That, right, Angie, Yeah, on Monday, and they had.
• 11:58
Speaker 4: To come here to make the arrangements for their for
• 12:00
Speaker 4: their dearly departed loved one. And they were able to
• 12:03
Speaker 4: get the dog back.
• 12:04
  Speaker 8: And that was.
• 12:06
Speaker 4: Because of social media and Angie, you know, you worked
• 12:08
Speaker 4: with Humane Association out there in Iowa, and because of
• 12:11
Speaker 4: a lot of people here in the Canal Valley, and
• 12:13
Speaker 4: it was just unbelievable to me, Angie, just reading the comments,
• 12:15
Speaker 4: people saying, you know what can I do. Let's do
• 12:19
Speaker 4: a venmo on some on some gas money for him.
• 12:22
Speaker 4: I saw somebody said I got an Airbnb. They can
• 12:24
Speaker 4: stay here for free if they need to.
• 12:26
Speaker 2: That's good stuff, right there, good stuff, good stuff in
• 12:29
  Speaker 2: a bad situation.
• 12:30
Speaker 7: Yes, yeah, it's out pouring a support for Hennessy was
• 12:35
Speaker 7: overwhelming for us at the shelter, and we like that
• 12:37
Speaker 7: was a nice reminder of why we do what we do.
• 12:39
Speaker 2: All right, Angie, I know you're busy. I know you
• 12:41
Speaker 2: got a lot of I didn't want to mention real quick.
• 12:43
Speaker 2: I was looking at your Facebook page. One hundred and
• 12:45
Speaker 2: sixty six cats up there as of yesterday, and another
• 12:48
Speaker 2: one hundred and twenty eight in foster care. Folks, please
• 12:52
Speaker 2: please adopt some of these animals, right, I.
• 12:54
Speaker 7: Adopt foster whatever anything else? Yes?
• 12:59
Speaker 2: And what are your hours for the fourth Are you
• 13:01
Speaker 2: guys going to be closed tomorrow?
• 13:02
Speaker 7: So we will be closed tomorrow. We will have staff

• 13:07

• 16:50
Speaker 2: call anybody out from our Metro News staff, but apparently
• 16:58
Speaker 2: nobody upstairs was interesting in being a part of it.
• 17:01
Speaker 2: And well, you know, I've seen combat. There's nothing of

• 17:17
Speaker 2: So yeah, the Governor went up on the first ride
• 17:20
Speaker 2: in the George Washington gondola, and you know, we got
• 17:23
Speaker 2: to take lots of pictures and have a time and
• 17:24
Speaker 2: have a little chat and then they send all of us,
• 17:27
Speaker 2: you know, media hack people up there. The views are extraordinary.
• 17:31
Speaker 6: How far can you see?
• 17:33
Speaker 2: It was a little hazy yesterday morning, and yet the
• 17:37
Speaker 2: blue and yellow Yegger bridges in Kenos City were quite clear.
• 17:42
Speaker 2: And yeah, and so the dome looks, i'll use the
• 17:46
Speaker 2: Governor's word, resplendent even in the daytime. And then if
• 17:50
Speaker 2: you get up there at night, Our Paul Shockley was
• 17:51
Speaker 2: up there last night and took some video of the
• 17:54
Speaker 2: Liberty and Light show and it's it's really something to see,
• 17:57
Speaker 2: and it's free. It's free, and that's all gone to capitol.
• 18:00
  Speaker 5: No.
• 18:00
Speaker 2: I want to go back to regatta here for a
• 18:01
Speaker 2: moment because the regatta part of Regatta that we said
• 18:04
Speaker 2: we get all died up and all the stuff going on,
• 18:06
Speaker 2: including the entertainment and all that stuff, and it's all wonderful,
• 18:09
Speaker 2: but it's all about the water, Jim Crans is what
• 18:12
Speaker 2: it's right now. Good morning, Welcome to.
• 18:14
  Speaker 8: This morning day.
• 18:15
Speaker 2: And now where are you from originally?
• 18:17
Speaker 5: Jim, I am originally from New York, but I have
• 18:20
Speaker 5: been in West Virginia for fifty fifty years.
• 18:25
Speaker 2: Okay, but part of New York you're from now, Long Island,
• 18:27
Speaker 2: all right, it's called Long Island. So let's talk some
• 18:29
  Speaker 2: coffee island.
• 18:31
Speaker 5: I hear that's the way people like to pronounce it.
• 18:33
Speaker 5: I'm unaware of myself.
• 18:35
Speaker 2: You've been in West Virginia long enough, So let's talk
• 18:38
Speaker 2: about about your boats. The Donna Ray, right, Yes, I
• 18:40
Speaker 2: talk about the Dona Y.
• 18:41
  Speaker 12: Yeah.
• 18:41
Speaker 5: So the Donna Ray was built in nineteen eighty eight
• 18:44
Speaker 5: in Pittsburgh by a man named John Faidley and his
• 18:47
Speaker 5: family in his backyard. Took four years to build. Actually,
• 18:52
Speaker 5: nineteen eighty eight is the year she was christened. And
• 18:55
Speaker 5: they owned the boat and their family enjoyed it all
• 18:59
Speaker 5: those years, and thirteen years ago we had the opportunity.
• 19:04
  Speaker 8: To buy it.
• 19:06
Speaker 5: Everybody's got a different story on the boat. They're all different,
• 19:09
Speaker 5: but we were not looking for one. But we have
• 19:13
Speaker 5: friends down there now and when that boat came for sale,
• 19:18
Speaker 5: they said, you got to go look at it. We did,
• 19:21
Speaker 5: and next thing you know, we owned it. I didn't
• 19:23
  Speaker 5: expect that was.
• 19:24
Speaker 4: This something though that maybe in the back of your
• 19:26
Speaker 4: mind you said, you kind of just fell into it,
• 19:28
Speaker 4: But it was in the back of your mind.
• 19:29
Speaker 2: Maybe as a kid you had an interest in it.
• 19:31
Speaker 5: It's some sort of Well, my wife and I are
• 19:33
Speaker 5: boaters and we enjoy the river and we have a
• 19:38
Speaker 5: boat a little cruiser. And again we've been around, We've
• 19:43
Speaker 5: been to the festivals. We drive to them. We got
• 19:46
Speaker 5: hotel rooms, and there are several festivals that happened. Charleston's
• 19:50
  Speaker 5: a big one, and I don't know, I can't tell you.
• 19:53
Speaker 8: We just owned a boat there. It happened. We really
• 19:57
Speaker 8: loved the guy who built it.
• 19:58
Speaker 5: He just quite a a man, and I think we
• 20:01
Speaker 5: fell in love with the boat and him.
• 20:02
Speaker 2: So for the unfamiliar, and you mentioned being a boater before,
• 20:06
Speaker 2: what are some of the big differences between being a
• 20:09
Speaker 2: boater with you know, cruisers and pontoons and those sorts
• 20:12
Speaker 2: of things as opposed to a stern wheeler.
• 20:16
Speaker 5: So navigation of a boat no matter what its size,
• 20:19
  Speaker 5: is the same.
• 20:20
Speaker 8: However, you're right around the river.
• 20:23
Speaker 5: On a small pontoon boat or whatever that is, you
• 20:28
Speaker 5: typically have an engine or an outdrive that turns and
• 20:32
Speaker 5: the whole propeller turns to steer the boat. On sternwheel boats,
• 20:36
Speaker 5: we have a solid wheel doesn't turn, and we have
• 20:40
Speaker 5: rudders and so much like you might notice when the
• 20:44
Speaker 5: barges are on the river, different than a car.
• 20:49
Speaker 8: Cars steer from the front.
• 20:50
Speaker 5: Where you turn you just go, but boats steer from
• 20:54
Speaker 5: the back, even a pontoon boat.
• 20:56
Speaker 8: It's just it's too short to notice that.
• 21:00
Speaker 5: Longer the boat is, the more you realize it's the
• 21:03
Speaker 5: it's the stern of the boat that is turning. And
• 21:07
Speaker 5: so that is something in your head that you just
• 21:09
Speaker 5: get used to doing the boats. I have one of
• 21:13
Speaker 5: the one of the lighter stern wheel boats, and that's
• 21:15
Speaker 5: a thirty two tons. Thirty two tons, the man said, yes,
• 21:21
Speaker 5: you all are familiar with Brian Hughes. His kat h
• 21:26
Speaker 5: is eighty tons, So they they're heavy, they're big, and
• 21:32
  Speaker 5: to be fair.
• 21:33
Speaker 2: So am I not quite that big? No, although although
• 21:36
Speaker 2: God is not over yet, you know, deep fried by
• 21:39
Speaker 2: deep fried stuff. I think it's really interesting too because
• 21:43
Speaker 2: I met Brian, I guess around the time he came
• 21:46
Speaker 2: to Charleston, and I never had met anybody that was
• 21:49
Speaker 2: that was into the boats like that and living on
• 21:51
Speaker 2: one like Brian does. I never met anybody like and
• 21:53
Speaker 2: I've learned a lot. One of the things I learned
• 21:55
Speaker 2: from Brian is these things ain't cheap. When something when something.
• 21:58
Speaker 5: Breaks down pairing, if you're not prepared for I mean,
• 22:04
Speaker 5: the joke about boating in general is best day of
• 22:07
Speaker 5: life is the day you bought the boat, and the
• 22:09
Speaker 5: second best day is the day you sold the boat.
• 22:13
Speaker 5: I would say the stern wheel owners do not fall
• 22:16
Speaker 5: into that cattle. Occasionally somebody buys a boat and does
• 22:20
Speaker 5: not realize what they're getting into.
• 22:23
Speaker 8: But for the most part.
• 22:24
Speaker 5: It's it's it's the ticket to punch. When you buy one,
• 22:29
Speaker 5: it's money. It can go a year and really everything
• 22:34
Speaker 5: runs great. But the parts these are not the kind
• 22:38
Speaker 5: of thing that comes from a showroom. They're all literally
• 22:42
Speaker 5: a one off with a one off story, and they're old.
• 22:47
Speaker 5: We have two stern wheelers at the down at the
• 22:51
Speaker 5: levee right now, the miss Sterling and the rufus B
• 22:54
Speaker 5: two that are one hundred years old this year.
• 22:58
Speaker 2: Wow, that does not have how was your boat down to?
• 23:01
Speaker 8: We're thirty thirty thirty six? Somebody do the math for me.
• 23:07
Speaker 2: Eighty eight, Yeah, thirty six, so we're thirty eight. Radio
• 23:11
Speaker 2: people all looking at each.
• 23:12
Speaker 5: Other's got to calculate me.
• 23:14
Speaker 2: People are taking their shoes off.
• 23:16
Speaker 5: But those things, those kind of years don't happen without
• 23:19
Speaker 5: along the way, without people rescuing them and spending enormous
• 23:23
Speaker 5: amounts of money. And that's just sort of the commitment
• 23:28
Speaker 5: to it. We really most of us view ourselves as
• 23:30
Speaker 5: stewarts of the boat we purchased, and it's our job
• 23:35
Speaker 5: to get it to the next owner. Really whenever that
• 23:38
Speaker 5: happens could be decades, and it could be sooner, but
• 23:42
Speaker 5: it's our job to make sure that they're around. My
• 23:46
Speaker 5: goal is to have Donna Ray someday hit one hundred
• 23:49
  Speaker 5: years old.
• 23:50
Speaker 8: He certainly won't be around.
• 23:52
Speaker 2: So as a broken down ballplayer, I am also very superstitious,
• 23:56
Speaker 2: and I know there are some superstitions that go with
• 23:58
Speaker 2: boats and ships. Which of the which of them are true? Like,
• 24:03
Speaker 2: you know, it's bad luck to rename a boat, that
• 24:06
Speaker 2: you when you christen a boat, that it has to
• 24:09
Speaker 2: be a certain kind of champagne. For the longest time,
• 24:12
Speaker 2: they didn't let women on boats because they considered it
• 24:15
Speaker 2: bad luck. What are what are some of the superstitions
• 24:17
Speaker 2: that still persist, and what are some of them that
• 24:20
Speaker 2: may actually be true?
• 24:21
Speaker 5: Well, I'd say none of them are true, okay, but
• 24:25
Speaker 5: for sure people talk about the rename seems to be
• 24:29
Speaker 5: common amongst a lot of boaters. Hear that, and it's
• 24:32
Speaker 5: not true. However, there's a ceremony you do if you
• 24:36
Speaker 5: just don't rename it, you have a ceremony and and
• 24:41
Speaker 5: so if you have you have a little ceremony and
• 24:43
Speaker 5: a re christening, then you most certainly can change the
• 24:46
Speaker 5: name of Aquat. My wife and I decided when we
• 24:50
Speaker 5: bought the boat that we were not going to rename
• 24:52
Speaker 5: our boat. She was christened Donna Ray, and we bought
• 24:56
Speaker 5: it and kept that name. And the Miss Sterling has
• 25:01
Speaker 5: been the Miss Sterling for ninety nine of her one
• 25:05
Speaker 5: hundred years wow. And that name is because Sterling Oil
• 25:09
Speaker 5: Company owned that boat. So she became the Miss Sterling.
• 25:14
Speaker 5: She stays the Miss Sterling. So on the other hand,
• 25:16
Speaker 5: there are boats down there that probably have had eight
• 25:18
Speaker 5: different names. And as long as you do it, now,
• 25:22
Speaker 5: what happens if you don't nothing.
• 25:25
  Speaker 13: Say, I've had a couple. I've had a couple of
• 25:26
Speaker 13: renaming ceremonies myself and the christening, you know, the christening
• 25:30
Speaker 13: part of that. We've got photographs from sixty seventy years
• 25:36
Speaker 13: ago of women towboat owners christening towboats. So I think
• 25:44
Speaker 13: some of that stuff maybe just depending on.
• 25:47
Speaker 2: Who had a text here.
• 25:50
Speaker 4: Jima says, we met some people last night from South Carolina.
• 25:52
Speaker 4: They had never been here before. The wife looked out
• 25:54
Speaker 4: of the boats on the river and said, quote, look
• 25:57
  Speaker 4: at that.
• 25:57
  Speaker 2: That's unbelievable.
• 25:59
Speaker 5: They are they they're unbelievable to us, believe it or not.
• 26:03
Speaker 5: No matter how long we have it. As soon as
• 26:05
Speaker 5: we pull in somewhere, we're all taking pictures of us together.
• 26:08
Speaker 5: And the boats are like a traveling circus.
• 26:12
Speaker 6: How far have you taken her?
• 26:14
Speaker 5: So we've been to Pittsburgh with Don Away. That's a
• 26:17
Speaker 5: four day trip. Generally speaking, it's a as a general rule,
• 26:24
Speaker 5: every hour it would take you to get somewhere in
• 26:26
Speaker 5: a car takes us one day in the boat.
• 26:28
Speaker 2: Well, to be fair with the construction of Brisport, it
• 26:30
Speaker 2: is a four day trip. So uh.
• 26:35
  Speaker 8: Anyway, we uh.
• 26:36
Speaker 5: We have a lot of festivals that are in September,
• 26:40
Speaker 5: and so in September we're gone typically for for a month.
• 26:44
Speaker 8: People will have to.
• 26:45
Speaker 5: Work, so we move boats, move cars, come back to
• 26:48
Speaker 5: go to work. I'm now retired, so I get to
• 26:51
Speaker 5: stay with the boat the whole time.
• 26:53
Speaker 4: Which is what is because you know the shirt where
• 26:55
Speaker 4: we're got. I had such a history here in Charleston,
• 26:57
Speaker 4: and then it went away for a while, and then
• 26:58
Speaker 4: it was brought back as far as the Stern wheelers go,
• 27:01
Speaker 4: you folks, where does Charleston rank as far as I mean,
• 27:04
Speaker 4: is it one of the premier ones that people really
• 27:07
Speaker 4: look forward to. I mean, I would think with the
• 27:08
Speaker 4: history and it used to be a ten day of that.
• 27:11
Speaker 4: Now it's a little bit shorter, I would think that
• 27:13
Speaker 4: it's probably pretty well regarded.
• 27:15
  Speaker 2: Right.
• 27:15
Speaker 8: Yeah, it most certainly is. I mean, you know, shout
• 27:18
Speaker 8: out to Mayor Goodwin for just getting it done. She
• 27:23
Speaker 8: said she was going to bring it back, and she did.
• 27:25
Speaker 2: She ran on that a.
• 27:27
Speaker 5: She assembled a great group of people and they work
• 27:30
Speaker 5: incredibly hard every day of the year to make this happen.
• 27:34
Speaker 5: So we're always thankful. You know, whatever city we go to,
• 27:39
Speaker 5: they all want to thank the boats for coming. Hard
• 27:42
Speaker 5: to have a sternwheel festival without a sternwheel boat, But honestly,
• 27:47
Speaker 5: it's it's the boats. It's the Stern wheelers paddle boats
• 27:52
Speaker 5: that thanked the cities. Really, we wouldn't have anywhere to
• 27:55
Speaker 5: go if the cities didn't do this. Charleston is certainly
• 27:58
Speaker 5: high on the list, but so is Marietta, Ohio. The
• 28:02
Speaker 5: Marietta Festival, unlike the Charleston Festival, never had a break and.
• 28:08
Speaker 8: Never had a pause.
• 28:09
Speaker 5: Yeah, and so this year Marietta is their fiftieth year.
• 28:15
Speaker 5: So and they're all different. We go to all of
• 28:19
Speaker 5: them for different reasons. It's not a competition at all.
• 28:24
Speaker 5: I would say that Charleston stands out for the entertainment,
• 28:32
  Speaker 5: Marietta stands out.
• 28:33
  Speaker 8: For their fireworks.
• 28:34
Speaker 5: Yeah, although we're about to see the biggest fireworks in
• 28:37
Speaker 5: West Virginia history, but Marietta traditionally would stand out for that.
• 28:42
Speaker 2: So it really is the fraternity of stern wheelers. There's
• 28:44
Speaker 2: not a lot of competition, not a not a big
• 28:46
Speaker 2: Jets and Sharks rumble.
• 28:48
Speaker 6: Sort of like a car club too. My parents were
• 28:51
Speaker 6: always in a car clubs.
• 28:52
Speaker 5: Yeah, we have the American Stern wheel Association. Actually Brian
• 28:56
Speaker 5: uses our president this year, and so yeah, it is
• 29:01
Speaker 5: it is a club so to speak. Yeah, we all
• 29:05
Speaker 5: we all know each other and it's you know, one
• 29:10
Speaker 5: of the boats, the Jenny b coming up from Sardis, Ohio,
• 29:14
Speaker 5: which is across from Sistersville, they broke a wheel shaft
• 29:18
Speaker 5: coming down here, and you know what, Amherst sent a
• 29:25
Speaker 5: boat and brought them up to Charleston alongside of a
• 29:28
Speaker 5: set of barges. And dropped them off down below Nitro
• 29:33
Speaker 5: and got some Stern wheelers together and we went down
• 29:38
Speaker 5: there and got them and we towed them back and
• 29:40

• 33:34
Speaker 4: are speak to speaking speaking of the animals.
• 33:37
Speaker 2: Here's another one and it's I'm an animals. It's Logan Scott.
• 33:40
Speaker 2: He's not the No, I'm not the animal.
• 33:43
  Speaker 9: No.
• 33:43
Speaker 2: Logan Scott from V. One hundred is here. How you
• 33:45
Speaker 2: being my friend? I am well?
• 33:46
  Speaker 17: How are you?
• 33:46
Speaker 2: I am doing fine. I'm gonna read a text here
• 33:50
Speaker 2: about regatta last night and it was a little uh well,
• 33:53
Speaker 2: I'll just read it. It says day first night of
• 33:55
Speaker 2: Forgotta was a delight. It's a good part.
• 33:57
Speaker 4: Two small pieces of feedback from someone who's trying to
• 34:00
Speaker 4: listen to Melissa Ethridge from a boat in front of
• 34:02
Speaker 4: the levee. Maybe turn one or two speakers toward the river.
• 34:05
Speaker 4: Could hardly hear the music from any boat. Also possibly
• 34:08
Speaker 4: coordinate coal barge traffic better. Last night half the boats
• 34:11
Speaker 4: had to pull anchors and move in a hurry during
• 34:13
Speaker 4: Melissa's set because a huge barge came through.
• 34:17
Speaker 2: Surely they can time that better. So you know, you know, people,
• 34:20
Speaker 2: I do. That's not long. There, you go appreciate the text.
• 34:24
Speaker 2: Why are you here? You asked me to be here?
• 34:27
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, there is that, Dave Wire, any of us
• 34:30
Speaker 2: that's true? I mean I can still be sleeping right now. Yeah,
• 34:33
Speaker 2: I'm just kidding, you don't sleep the T shirts. The
• 34:37
Speaker 2: T shirts are enough enough for us to be here,
• 34:40
Speaker 2: I guess. And food coupons. So howard things going with?
• 34:44
Speaker 2: For gotta know, you've been all over the same man.
• 34:45
Speaker 2: I mean, you've been down there, and Rob has two
• 34:47
Speaker 2: and Rob has been at the Capitol as well, and
• 34:49
Speaker 2: several other people have been. All it's a busy time
• 34:51
Speaker 2: here in Charlestown. Yeah, So one key takeaway that I
• 34:55
Speaker 2: should pass along make sure you stay hydrated. Yeah, because
• 34:58
Speaker 2: it was hot yesterday, very hot. And there are cooling
• 35:00
Speaker 2: stations at the end of Summer Street, at the four points,
• 35:04
Speaker 2: by Sheraton, in front of the Shanklin Parking Garage, and
• 35:08
Speaker 2: by the Police Department as well, all there along Cannon Boulevard.
• 35:12
Speaker 2: So and also just kind of goes to what we're
• 35:17
Speaker 2: getting ready talking about here. Someone someone wanted to know,
• 35:19
Speaker 2: will the fireworks music be on speakers at all three
• 35:22
Speaker 2: launch locations on the boulevard or do you have to
• 35:24
Speaker 2: have a radio or streaming which has a delay. Well,
• 35:27
Speaker 2: don't worry. It will be on all of our WVRC
• 35:29
Speaker 2: Media Charleston station starting around nine to forty five tomorrow night. Yes,
• 35:33
Speaker 2: there will be a delay if you're streaming on our
• 35:35
Speaker 2: app about forty seconds forty five seconds.
• 35:37
Speaker 4: And that's that's true of the apps in general. They're
• 35:40
Speaker 4: about thirty to forty seconds behind. Yes, but that's one
• 35:42
Speaker 4: of the reason why I wanted you to come in here.
• 35:43
Speaker 4: Among other reasons, I did want to point out that
• 35:45
Speaker 4: all of our stations tomorrow evening, while you're watching the fireworks,
• 35:49
Speaker 4: you'll be able to tune to V one hundred kws
• 35:52
Speaker 4: the Mountain, any of our stations, and you will be
• 35:54
Speaker 4: able to actually have a soundtrack to go along with
• 35:57
  Speaker 4: the fireworks.
• 35:57
Speaker 2: And I'm still working on that soundtrack. Let me speak,
• 36:00
Speaker 2: no pressure. I'm laughing because I've been that guy before.
• 36:03
Speaker 2: He's got a stack of cassettes in his office, you know.
• 36:06
Speaker 2: I mean, that's that's still the way to do it, right,
• 36:08
Speaker 2: Oh absolutely no, No, No, like live studio orchestra.
• 36:11
  Speaker 8: Yeah yeah.
• 36:12
Speaker 2: Coordinating all the big talents to big names to be here. Look,
• 36:15
Speaker 2: I've got the Aim of Steel band. They're the official
• 36:17
Speaker 2: band of the day. Arturo Toscanini and Xavier Cougut are
• 36:21
Speaker 2: not available. You're gonna hear.
• 36:23
  Speaker 6: Theyboards the classics.
• 36:26
Speaker 2: I mean Lee Greenwood's in the mix. Uh, Miley Cyrus
• 36:29
Speaker 2: is in the mix, of course, Katie Perry the Fourth
• 36:33
Speaker 2: of July soundtrack. So and and it does take a
• 36:36
Speaker 2: lot of work to put that together. I mean, it
• 36:38
Speaker 2: really does. I am not the technical guy that does
• 36:40
Speaker 2: that kind of things, but I'm sitting here with three
• 36:42
Speaker 2: people that do things like this, and it's Robertson. I
• 36:46
Speaker 2: have specifically done what he is doing, and the challenge
• 36:51
Speaker 2: of it's challenging enough to create a soundtrack for a
• 36:54
Speaker 2: fireworks display, he's actually doing it backwards. He's having to
• 36:58
Speaker 2: create a soundtrack that fits an existing scripted display, which
• 37:03
Speaker 2: is much harder than hey, here's the music, create fireworks
• 37:07
Speaker 2: to go with that. I'm on draft number five, but
• 37:10
Speaker 2: probably ten or fifteen I could go for another draft. Yes,
• 37:13
Speaker 2: oh yeah, well that's true.
• 37:16
Speaker 4: So yesterday was the opening day. We got to Like
• 37:18
Speaker 4: I said, you spent a lot of time down there.
• 37:20
Speaker 4: You were on the boat with the mayor and other people.
• 37:22
Speaker 4: I mean, other than it being hot, it's been a
• 37:26
Speaker 4: pretty good time so far. After one day, it was
• 37:29
Speaker 4: I've not had any funnel kicks yet. That's on the
• 37:31
Speaker 4: agenda for today or tomorrow. Shame on you, I know,
• 37:34
Speaker 4: I know, but yeah. So Steven Jinny did their show
• 37:37
Speaker 4: from the kat H Stern Wheeler yesterday morning. I did
• 37:40
Speaker 4: my show yesterday afternoon, and I'll be doing it again
• 37:42
Speaker 4: today and tomorrow as well. So we're everywhere down You
• 37:46
Speaker 4: can stop by the Kadh and say hello. I'll be
• 37:48
Speaker 4: on the back deck Justy on mine, You and Bola,
• 37:50
Speaker 4: Me and Boson and Moose is down there too.
• 37:52
Speaker 2: So okay, yeah, that's right.
• 37:54
Speaker 4: We had a text here a couple of suggestions for you,
• 37:57
Speaker 4: Elvis American Trilogy or Ray Charles America The Beautiful. I
• 38:01
Speaker 4: would say Freebird. You know, I just say put freebird.
• 38:03
Speaker 4: That that's just me being from Logan.
• 38:05
Speaker 2: I still need some fillers, so yeah, and I don't
• 38:06
  Speaker 2: mean filler, but I mean I need a couple. There's
• 38:08
Speaker 2: a couple of he has some gaps he need to
• 38:11
Speaker 2: I will say this, I'm a fan of both of
• 38:13
Speaker 2: those songs. Ray Charles America The Beautiful is I've said
• 38:18
Speaker 2: for years that should be our national anthem. His version
• 38:20
Speaker 2: of My Beautiful It is the way he does it's
• 38:22
Speaker 2: I mean, it's freaking Ray Charles. You know he can
• 38:24
Speaker 2: do whatever, but I mean the way he does that
• 38:26
Speaker 2: song is absolutely fantastic. And when nine to eleven happened,
• 38:31
  Speaker 2: I did a little thing. I was working at a
• 38:33
Speaker 2: radio station in Logan, and you know, this is before
• 38:37
Speaker 2: the Internet like we know it now or the social
• 38:39
Speaker 2: media like we know it now, and so I just
• 38:42
Speaker 2: on nine eleven afternoon, I went I took a cassette recorder,
• 38:47
Speaker 2: went through the streets and interviewed people, put it together
• 38:51
Speaker 2: and put this was Logan, West Virginia on September eleventh,
• 38:55
Speaker 2: and I interviewed people on the street and looped it
• 38:58
Speaker 2: over Ray Charles. I wish I had a copy of it,
• 39:01
Speaker 2: that would be nice, because it's one of the best
• 39:02
Speaker 2: things I've ever done, to be honest with you, and
• 39:04
Speaker 2: it wasn't me, it was the people that were But
• 39:05
  Speaker 2: it's a fantastic song. Yeah, yeah, I don't think that
• 39:08
Speaker 2: one's in there, so I have to okay, all right, right,
• 39:11
Speaker 2: we'll work on well we have till nine five tomorrow nights. Yeah,
• 39:15
Speaker 2: there you go, TikTok. And and everybody always asks the
• 39:18
Speaker 2: age old question about when do the fireworks start. It's
• 39:20
Speaker 2: like a running joke and radio but Rice we say
• 39:22
Speaker 2: dark and they say when it is dark? Right, approximately
• 39:25
Speaker 2: nine forty five. It could be ten o'clock, it could
• 39:27
Speaker 2: be ninety two. My suggestion has been set your alarm
• 39:31
Speaker 2: on your phone for about nine forty. You'll notice it's
• 39:34
Speaker 2: getting dark, but you may not be aware of that
• 39:36
Speaker 2: it's getting dark. If that distinction makes sense, it's about
• 39:39
Speaker 2: nine forty. It'll go often. Oh yeah, I need to
• 39:41
Speaker 2: get wherever I need to be to watch the fireworks,
• 39:44
Speaker 2: turn up my radio and be ready to and remember
• 39:46
Speaker 2: it's after Brett Michaels is over. So I mean, depending
• 39:49
Speaker 2: on if they shift things tomorrow night. I mean that
• 39:52
  Speaker 2: that's a factor.
• 39:53
  Speaker 12: I mean.
• 39:53
Speaker 2: And then the world of music. You guys know this name,
• 39:55
Speaker 2: you know this as well. Those guys come in with
• 39:57
Speaker 2: a set list. Sometimes they sometimes they stick to it
• 40:00
Speaker 2: one percent. Sometimes they switch things around.
• 40:02
Speaker 4: Sometimes they feed off the crowd and go, hey, we
• 40:04
Speaker 4: need to extend this a little bit longer.
• 40:06
Speaker 2: Sometimes they need to beat off their guns, say we
• 40:08
Speaker 2: need to get off the stage. But I will tell
• 40:09
Speaker 2: you Brett Michaels puts on a fan it's a Hurtreak
• 40:12
Speaker 2: show and he's really good. I've worked with Brett in
• 40:15
Speaker 2: a couple of events like this, and I can tell
• 40:18
Speaker 2: you that even with the elasticity of his show. He
• 40:21
Speaker 2: still comes from a Pittsburgh steel working family, and he
• 40:24
Speaker 2: knows when the whistle is gonna blow, he will he
• 40:26
Speaker 2: will hit on time, guarantee.
• 40:28
Speaker 8: Okay, thank you, Brett. We appreciate that.
• 40:30
Speaker 2: Yeah, and of course Leader Ford is going to be
• 40:32
Speaker 2: opening up for Did you get to see the concert
• 40:34
  Speaker 2: law last night?
• 40:35
  Speaker 12: And I did?
• 40:35
Speaker 2: One of you because I didn't know if you were
• 40:36
Speaker 2: just too busy? Did you chances I did? One of
• 40:38
Speaker 2: my friends actually got to meet and greet.
• 40:41
  Speaker 8: Why no, no?
• 40:41
Speaker 2: So that so it was It was awesome. I mean
• 40:45
Speaker 2: she's the best. You know, you hear these stories about
• 40:49
Speaker 2: about celebrities of all types. We've talked about it on
• 40:51
Speaker 2: the show before. She has a reputation for being a
• 40:55
Speaker 2: really really nice, cool person. Now I say that and
• 40:58
Speaker 2: she may like push over a kid Walmart or something,
• 41:01
Speaker 2: but I'm just saying she's got that reputation. Well, and
• 41:03
Speaker 2: I didn't realize she's lives like she was born an
• 41:06
Speaker 2: hour away from here.
• 41:07
  Speaker 1: I didn't know that.
• 41:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, so learned something.
• 41:10
  Speaker 8: New, all right.
• 41:12
Speaker 2: And teeny tiny little woman for all the tabloid stuff
• 41:16
Speaker 2: and the shape of her face photographs in her particular way.
• 41:20
Speaker 2: She's tiny, really ity bitty little woman. Biggest things about
• 41:24
Speaker 2: her hair, her voice, and the heels. Last night, Okay,
• 41:28
  Speaker 2: I got a u a question for you, Rob. I'll
• 41:30
Speaker 2: let Logan get back.
• 41:31
Speaker 4: For how long does the full circle on the ferrest
• 41:33
Speaker 4: will take? I can't imagine. Its too pleasant inside the gondola,
• 41:36
Speaker 4: being so hot, it goes you'll go around twice because
• 41:41
Speaker 4: it is so hot. There are fans going inside the gondolas,
• 41:45
Speaker 4: but they're also kind of enclosed in plexiglass so that
• 41:48
Speaker 4: people don't do anything silly like throw stuff out, and
• 41:51
Speaker 4: so the air can get a little stagnant up there.
• 41:56
Speaker 4: I think if it were eighty five degrees it'd be great,
• 41:59
Speaker 4: but because it was ninety eight yesterday, it was be
• 42:03
Speaker 4: hydrated when you go on me and yesterday on midday
• 42:06
Speaker 4: we interviewed the guy or some of the people that
• 42:09
Speaker 4: are doing the light show aspect of what's going on
• 42:11
Speaker 4: in the Capitol and the things that they.
• 42:13
Speaker 2: Go into that. I mean, they're working well over a
• 42:16
Speaker 2: month on just and you it's kind of like you're
• 42:18
Speaker 2: working on this break list, you know, they were working
• 42:20
Speaker 2: so there's a lot more computers involved. I'm thinking this,
• 42:22
Speaker 2: and there are two assurances I can give regarding the line,
• 42:26
Speaker 2: because I get that question a lot. It moves very
• 42:28
Speaker 2: quickly for two reasons. Number One, when it's full, it
• 42:31
Speaker 2: actually goes faster than when there are fewer people because
• 42:34
Speaker 2: there's not as much concern about balancing weight because they
• 42:37
Speaker 2: can just load cars as people get off. People get on.
• 42:40
Speaker 2: When it's a small crowd like this afternoon, that's actually
• 42:43
Speaker 2: going to take longer. And then the line is filled
• 42:46
Speaker 2: with families of like four and five and six people.
• 42:49
Speaker 2: So what looks like along line going back to those
• 42:51
Speaker 2: capital doors is going to move quickly. That's good. A
• 42:55
Speaker 2: text said I love when mine ownA came out on
• 42:57

• 47:58
Speaker 2: I am a West Virginian. Got here as soon as
• 48:01
Speaker 2: he could. But let's talk about Regatta in the past,
• 48:06
Speaker 2: because you grew up here in the Charleston area. And
• 48:08
Speaker 2: what are some of your memories of Regatta?
• 48:09
Speaker 6: Oh, Mercy, I loved Regatta. I love it now. Gloria
• 48:13
Speaker 6: Stefan and the Miami Sound Machine. That was my very
• 48:16
Speaker 6: first Regatta concert. And I stood in the crowd that
• 48:21
Speaker 6: were it was not unlike the crowds of today's regatta
• 48:25
Speaker 6: for Billy Raycires and I was like right there in
• 48:28
  Speaker 6: the middle, couldn't move, and I'm like, that's great, I
• 48:30
Speaker 6: couldn't move. And of course my favorite event of all
• 48:34
Speaker 6: was the car shows because my parents were in the
• 48:36
Speaker 6: Antique Car club and so I was always helping out
• 48:39
Speaker 6: with that and getting everybody registered and occasionally on the
• 48:43
Speaker 6: mic for that too.
• 48:44
Speaker 2: But oh yeah, I love well.
• 48:47
Speaker 4: And then it's back and then in growing up in
• 48:50
Speaker 4: southern West Virginia, I mean I knew people from my
• 48:52
Speaker 4: part of the world that would come to Charleston and
• 48:54
Speaker 4: get a hotel room because were talking about a ten
• 48:57
Speaker 4: day event. They may not say all ten days, but
• 48:59
Speaker 4: they would come and just take it, take it all in.
• 49:02
  Speaker 7: Well.
• 49:03
Speaker 6: Yeah, another radio station that I worked for in town
• 49:06
Speaker 6: at the time, I got a hotel room at what
• 49:10
Speaker 6: is it now, the four Yes, thank you. I had
• 49:14
Speaker 6: a hotel room there so they could come in and
• 49:16
Speaker 6: out as as they pleased.
• 49:17
Speaker 2: And I do want to mention too, if you come
• 49:20
  Speaker 2: down to Regatta.
• 49:21
Speaker 4: We talked about it a couple of days ago at
• 49:23
Speaker 4: the Four Points by Shared and they have got this
• 49:25
Speaker 4: Regatta Museum set up and it's basically been I mean,
• 49:29
Speaker 4: they put they put the h they brought stuff I
• 49:32
Speaker 4: mean people just donated stuff at Regatta through the years,
• 49:34
Speaker 4: and how it's how it's grown and so and plus
• 49:37
Speaker 4: it's air conditioning there as well, so if you need
• 49:39
Speaker 4: to get that's why I checked it out yesterday.
• 49:42
Speaker 2: They said, sir, you've been here for eight hours. You've
• 49:44
Speaker 2: seen it all now again for you. But but they
• 49:47
Speaker 2: you may want to you may want to duck in there.
• 49:49
Speaker 2: And there's just so many things going on in the
• 49:51
Speaker 2: limited amount of time we haven't had a chance to,
• 49:53
Speaker 2: you know, cover them all. I talked to Adam Harris
• 49:55
Speaker 2: about the Regatta wrestling event that is on Lambry brought
• 49:59
Speaker 2: to you by Gene. That's going to be going on,
• 50:01
Speaker 2: the dog dog races.
• 50:02
Speaker 6: What else you got hot dog eating contest? A friend
• 50:05
Speaker 6: of mine won last year.
• 50:09
Speaker 2: Oh he's a two time defending champ.
• 50:11
Speaker 6: Now yeah, is it Debbie's son?
• 50:14
  Speaker 17: Yes?
• 50:14
Speaker 2: And his name just flew out of my head.
• 50:17
Speaker 6: Sorry Debbie, I forgot his name too.
• 50:19
Speaker 2: I have participated the past couple of years and he
• 50:22
Speaker 2: is not what you would He is a tall, slender
• 50:24
Speaker 2: man and you don't look at him and think, oh, well,
• 50:26
Speaker 2: he's the glutton who's gonna plow through thirty six hot dogs,
• 50:29
Speaker 2: and yet here we are. Look look at I mean,
• 50:31
Speaker 2: it's a scientifical fact that the people that tam tendency
• 50:35
Speaker 2: to do better, those are smaller people. And you mentioned
• 50:38
Speaker 2: so much to do right now. I actually had somebody
• 50:40
Speaker 2: yesterday at the Capitol say it's a shame that the
• 50:42
Speaker 2: dirty birds are on the road. Why couldn't they be
• 50:44
Speaker 2: home during all this? And I'm like, is there not
• 50:46
  Speaker 2: enough to do?
• 50:47
