- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with on our radio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Welcome back to the Almost Famous podcast. It's been here
- 0:09Speaker 2: and we are welcoming back our incredible legal expert, Alison
- 0:14Speaker 2: Treesel to help us make sense of all the things
- 0:17Speaker 2: that are really confusing to me and that have happened
- 0:20Speaker 2: in the ongoing Taylor, Frankie Paul cases. Alison is a
- 0:25Speaker 2: criminal defense attorney and legal correspondent with Access Hollywood. She
- 0:30Speaker 2: is also currently the host of Legal Smart on KTLA
- 0:34Speaker 2: I Love KTLA Such Good There just as Awesome People,
- 0:39Speaker 2: where she provides insight and advice on a wide variety
- 0:42Speaker 2: of political and practical and relevant legal issues. Alison has
- 0:48Speaker 2: a team behind her today because this is such a
- 0:50Speaker 2: big moment for all of us. And so if you
- 0:53Speaker 2: hear some random voices, all I ask for Alison, Well, Allison,
- 0:58Speaker 2: you can just introduce them, yeah, because they'll be on video.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Uh if they chime in. I just asked that they
- 1:04Speaker 2: maybe say their first name, just so we know who's.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Not only that, what amazing schools they go to. So
- 1:09Speaker 3: I always do a summer program and there these are
- 1:14Speaker 3: college students from across the country and they are they
- 1:19Speaker 3: are our future. And they're bright, and they're astute, and
- 1:22Speaker 3: some of them are big bachlorination fans, and they were
- 1:27Speaker 3: so excited to work on this case because I have
- 1:29Speaker 3: them working on other cases, and you know, they're not
- 1:32Speaker 3: nearly as exciting as all that goes on, all the
- 1:36Speaker 3: ups and downs, twists and turns of the people that
- 1:42Speaker 3: consume bachlorination. And you guys have a lot going on.
- 1:46Speaker 3: I told you that, Befre.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Yeah, we do. I mean there's a lot of things.
- 1:49Speaker 2: We could probably just have an episode where we line
- 1:51Speaker 2: up the most major cases that have gone through or
- 1:55Speaker 2: affected vaccination. There'd be a ton. Also, I wonder what
- 2:00Speaker 2: day if parents are going to start telling their kids, hey,
- 2:03Speaker 2: go get a degree in something specific, because if not,
- 2:08Speaker 2: you could find yourself as a podcast host. Like I
- 2:11Speaker 2: wonder if that's kind of going to be the out Like.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Well, actually, now that you mentioned it, I did tell
- 2:17Speaker 3: my recent college graduate. Look, I really don't want you
- 2:20Speaker 3: to be a podcast. Let's stick a let's pick something. Yeah, no,
- 2:24Speaker 3: you know what you are, the wave of the future.
- 2:27Speaker 2: You're right me getting.
- 2:28Speaker 3: This chair obsolete? Absolutely sorry, you know, all.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Right, let's dive into it. We've talked a couple of
- 2:35Speaker 2: times before. I always appreciate your insight and your help
- 2:38Speaker 2: on the matter. A few things have happened in the
- 2:43Speaker 2: Taylor Frankie Paul case with you know, her ex husband
- 2:47Speaker 2: Tate and then her ex Dakota. I want to start, though,
- 2:53Speaker 2: I'd like to do this chronologically if we can. Taylor
- 2:56Speaker 2: a month or so ago announced that she was going
- 2:59Speaker 2: to be entering rehab facility while she was transitioning onto
- 3:05Speaker 2: a new medication. So I when I saw this, we've
- 3:10Speaker 2: only here said, Hey, no matter what the truth and
- 3:14Speaker 2: what's happening in the Taylor Frankie Paul case, we want
- 3:16Speaker 2: her to get help, whatever that looks like. We want
- 3:19Speaker 2: her to feel supported, and we also want anybody involved
- 3:23Speaker 2: that's going through a rough patch in life to feel supportive.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Did she need to let the public know that she
- 3:30Speaker 2: was entering into rehab as she transitioned onto this new medication?
- 3:36Speaker 2: And my fallow up to that would be does that
- 3:38Speaker 2: hurt her case? At all?
- 3:39Speaker 3: Okay? So no, she did not need to let anybody know.
- 3:44Speaker 3: I am a huge champion of people recognizing they need
- 3:48Speaker 3: help and seeking it out, and I think that it's great,
- 3:52Speaker 3: and I do not think that it should be used
- 3:55Speaker 3: against you in any way in court and in life.
- 4:01Speaker 3: I mean, if you are making an earnest effort to
- 4:06Speaker 3: get better, to deal with whatever demons you have, whatever
- 4:10Speaker 3: addiction issues you have, you know, depression, stress, anxiety, and
- 4:15Speaker 3: you are seeking it out all the better and it
- 4:19Speaker 3: shouldn't be used against you. Has it been well? Interestingly,
- 4:25Speaker 3: her ex taate tried to use it and he was
- 4:31Speaker 3: struck down by the court. So he asked for a
- 4:35Speaker 3: restraining order protective order, and it was basically summarily dismissed
- 4:41Speaker 3: within a day of him asking for it. Okay, So
- 4:44Speaker 3: so that that's that's an interesting issue. However, the real problem,
- 4:50Speaker 3: and when we first started talking about this case, I
- 4:54Speaker 3: talked about all these open matters. I talked about all
- 4:57Speaker 3: these things that were going on with her. There where
- 5:01Speaker 3: the criminal case. There was a criminal case that she's
- 5:04Speaker 3: on probation for. There were the protective orders, there was
- 5:09Speaker 3: the child custody orders, the dcfs, and now let's add
- 5:13Speaker 3: the stocking. Okay, let's add the stocking, which we'll get to.
- 5:16Speaker 3: But the criminal case is interesting and we can easily
- 5:22Speaker 3: quickly sort of discuss it that, yes, she's on probation
- 5:27Speaker 3: and yes, the police were investigating everything that happened in February,
- 5:33Speaker 3: but the prosecutor's office has very clearly come out and said,
- 5:39Speaker 3: we are not going to charge her with any new offenses,
- 5:43Speaker 3: nor are we going to violate her probation for it. Okay,
- 5:46Speaker 3: So they have made it clear. And Ben, I think
- 5:49Speaker 3: I talked to you and Ashley about this. My concerns
- 5:52Speaker 3: for that case were, look, a probation violation, the standard
- 5:58Speaker 3: of proof is much much lower if you're on felony
- 6:01Speaker 3: probation and you have any new incidents of law enforcement
- 6:05Speaker 3: that could be grounds for violating it. Plus any type
- 6:09Speaker 3: of drinking or substance abuse when you're strictly prohibited from
- 6:13Speaker 3: using any substances could be grounds. So I was just
- 6:17Speaker 3: thinking about her taping of her taping of The Bachelorette,
- 6:24Speaker 3: and you know, if there's drinking on the show, that
- 6:27Speaker 3: could have been grounds. They decided not to violate her.
- 6:31Speaker 3: So those seemed to be at bay. They seem to
- 6:35Speaker 3: be at rest, hopefully permanently. Her felony probation ends and
- 6:41Speaker 3: expires at the end of August, and I really do
- 6:44Speaker 3: hope that she successfully completes that.
- 6:46Speaker 2: So that's that we did Alison get to see the
- 6:49Speaker 2: first episode back when they thought it was going to
- 6:51Speaker 2: air and we were lucky enough to get our hands
- 6:54Speaker 2: on it. They did make it clear during that first
- 6:56Speaker 2: episode that she would not be drinking.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Oh okay, good.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I didn't know that okay throughout the season, So that
- 7:02Speaker 2: was a point I think that the show made sure
- 7:05Speaker 2: to highlight. You brought up d c f SE department.
- 7:10Speaker 2: I actually don't know. I'm assuming Department of Child and
- 7:15Speaker 2: Family Service.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Department of Child and Family Services, and that's actually the
- 7:20Speaker 3: big one that's going on right now. So if that's
- 7:24Speaker 3: the one that you want to jump into, because that's really,
- 7:27Speaker 3: in my mind, Taylor's biggest problem right now, and I
- 7:33Speaker 3: consider it to be a I consider it to be
- 7:38Speaker 3: the most serious and the one you know when we
- 7:44Speaker 3: were initially taught. Because this involves the children, the minor children,
- 7:50Speaker 3: it's kept pretty secretive and it's kept out of public
- 7:56Speaker 3: court documents. But we've learned a lot since we started
- 8:01Speaker 3: talking about this case, and what I've seen does not
- 8:07Speaker 3: look good for her. And it is concerning to me
- 8:11Speaker 3: because the Utah Attorney General's Office filed a petition on
- 8:18Speaker 3: behalf of the Utah Division of Children and Family Services
- 8:23Speaker 3: on July thirteenth to have a court determine if Frankie
- 8:30Speaker 3: Paul's three children are abused, neglected, or dependent and order
- 8:38Speaker 3: protective supervision. This is serious, This is not going This
- 8:45Speaker 3: is not going well for her. I did love by
- 8:49Speaker 3: the way her attorney's response. I'll get into that at
- 8:52Speaker 3: the end, because I think that her attorney is handling
- 8:56Speaker 3: this appropriately.
- 8:59Speaker 2: But a parent, let me let me pause you there
- 9:02Speaker 2: for a second to get some crity on some words
- 9:04Speaker 2: that I think you and your students probably here and
- 9:07Speaker 2: they're like, yeah, of course, you know what that means.
- 9:09Speaker 2: I have no idea. One thing that happened during this
- 9:12Speaker 2: was this report has been leaked, and so if we're talking,
- 9:16Speaker 2: it was obtained by TMZ and I'll let you get
- 9:21Speaker 2: into what the findings were. But when it we use
- 9:24Speaker 2: the word dependent, I assume all children are dependents, and
- 9:31Speaker 2: so can you elaborate on that a little bit? Yep?
- 9:35Speaker 3: So instead of being dependent on the parents, right, instead
- 9:39Speaker 3: of being dependent like meaning that that the Department of
- 9:43Speaker 3: Children and Family Services have to step in and take over.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Oh okay, so.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Dependent on their services.
- 9:53Speaker 2: M okay, that's fair. That helps. So all right, so
- 9:58Speaker 2: if you want to dive in, as you mentioned, DCFS
- 10:02Speaker 2: did go in and reviewed the situation. I'm assuming what
- 10:06Speaker 2: that looks like is they go into the home. Yes,
- 10:11Speaker 2: they speak with the children, they speak with the people associated,
- 10:16Speaker 2: they come up with their own reports. I also think
- 10:20Speaker 2: that Dakota also had an investigation. Is that the right
- 10:25Speaker 2: word to use here?
- 10:26Speaker 3: That's fair? Yep, that's that's fair. Interview, investigation, that's fine.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Interviews probably more like it.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Okay, an interview. But let's start with what they found
- 10:36Speaker 2: with Taylor Frankie Paul when they did the interviews.
- 10:39Speaker 3: So I'm going to tell you, yeah, and I'm going
- 10:40Speaker 3: to walk through the things that I, as an attorney
- 10:46Speaker 3: would find troubling and.
- 10:51Speaker 2: That is this.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Okay. So they go into the home and they say,
- 10:59Speaker 3: these are the things that are troubling to caseworkers, the
- 11:03Speaker 3: statements that she made, her commitment or lack of commitment
- 11:08Speaker 3: to therapy, and parenting issues involving her child. So they
- 11:16Speaker 3: talk about how Taylor's sister, Aspen who's also who's also
- 11:23Speaker 3: Ever's caretaker nanny, that the son Ever was finding or
- 11:30Speaker 3: seeking comfort more from the chip from the the nanny
- 11:35Speaker 3: than from Taylor. Not the greatest problem. That's not the
- 11:39Speaker 3: biggest problem, but one of the things that they mentioned
- 11:42Speaker 3: then they said that Taylor, upon being questioned about her
- 11:47Speaker 3: commitment to therapy, that she became escalated and disregulated, and
- 11:53Speaker 3: that she actually walked out at one point and the
- 11:58Speaker 3: DCFS were or had to let themselves out of her home.
- 12:03Speaker 3: That is not good. That the that Taylor's therapist told
- 12:09Speaker 3: d c FS that she had not begun meaningful treatment,
- 12:15Speaker 3: she did not seem invested in the program, and seemed
- 12:20Speaker 3: to be attending therapy because she was forced to do so.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Those are not things that you ever as an attorney,
- 12:28Speaker 3: want to get a copy of a report. And this
- 12:31Speaker 3: is what the DCFS reporter is is writing in something
- 12:38Speaker 3: they give to the court, and that her own therapist
- 12:41Speaker 3: is reporting that is not good. There's a few more
- 12:45Speaker 3: things that I that I want to just bring up.
- 12:51Speaker 3: She then when speaking to Taylor, she then said that
- 12:58Speaker 3: she was treated being treated fairly because of her status.
- 13:03Speaker 3: And again, and we talked about this a lot, courts
- 13:08Speaker 3: don't care that you are a reality TV star. They
- 13:13Speaker 3: don't care that you view yourself as a celebrity, and
- 13:17Speaker 3: especially at court, that's only interested in the well being
- 13:20Speaker 3: of these children, right, They felt that she was that
- 13:24Speaker 3: she was deflecting, that she was blaming other people that
- 13:31Speaker 3: during the interview when the reason that she stormed out
- 13:35Speaker 3: is that she was looking at messages on social media
- 13:38Speaker 3: and she didn't like what they were saying, and that's
- 13:41Speaker 3: why she stormed out of the interview. And then as
- 13:48Speaker 3: she's being interviewed, she became agitated. And one of her children, Ocean,
- 13:58Speaker 3: was in an the room coloring and he heard his
- 14:02Speaker 3: mother crying and told her take deep breaths. Now, Ocean,
- 14:07Speaker 3: I believe, is five five years old, and so that
- 14:16Speaker 3: is troubling. That is troubling, and for a five year old,
- 14:21Speaker 3: the reports are telling his mother take deep breaths, everything
- 14:27Speaker 3: is going to be okay. So so i'm i'm I'm
- 14:33Speaker 3: sharing all of this with you because of all the
- 14:39Speaker 3: things that are going on legally, right, So, the protective orders,
- 14:43Speaker 3: the child custody. We know that the protective orders. Both
- 14:48Speaker 3: both Dakota and Taylor now have mutual stay away orders
- 14:52Speaker 3: for the next three years. This to me appears to
- 14:56Speaker 3: be the most serious because when and DCFS gets involved
- 15:02Speaker 3: and if they find that these children are being abused
- 15:07Speaker 3: or neglected or dependent by the way. One other thing
- 15:10Speaker 3: that I want to add is that apparently in this
- 15:16Speaker 3: report that there's a claim that Taylor has one of
- 15:24Speaker 3: her children, her daughter changed the diapers of the youngest.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Is that the end of the world. Do other do
- 15:32Speaker 3: children like to get involved? Do older siblings like to
- 15:36Speaker 3: get involved in caring for their children for their younger siblings? Absolutely,
- 15:42Speaker 3: But this is the totality of things. So it's it's
- 15:47Speaker 3: alleged that Indy changes ever's diapers, prepares his bottle, and
- 15:53Speaker 3: often hears Taylor in Dakota fighting, which makes her sad.
- 15:59Speaker 3: And I believe that Indy, and this is I think
- 16:02Speaker 3: eight eight.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Eight years old. Yeah, Allison, is it normal for us
- 16:09Speaker 2: to have these reports go public? It's not, It's not.
- 16:14Speaker 2: That's I mean the obviously you said at the beginning
- 16:17Speaker 2: there's children involved in this. My assumption, without any knowledge
- 16:21Speaker 2: would be that a lot of the stuff that's being
- 16:24Speaker 2: done in the interviews would be kept private because the
- 16:28Speaker 2: children getting involved. So how did this good public? And
- 16:34Speaker 2: then also, as I mentioned, my assumption would be that
- 16:37Speaker 2: Dakota also had something similar happen.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Right but here now, I love that you've said that because, uh,
- 16:46Speaker 3: there is an article from people that that claims to
- 16:50Speaker 3: source it to someone in Paul's camp, and they say
- 16:55Speaker 3: that that me. This was their response to the leaked
- 16:59Speaker 3: the leaked petition, okay, or the leaked investigation. And what
- 17:04Speaker 3: they said was juvenile court is private to protect the
- 17:07Speaker 3: children's privacy and the other side. So they're saying that
- 17:11Speaker 3: Dakota's camp, I'm leaking this information does the exact opposite.
- 17:18Speaker 3: It speaks to the motivations here. Someone is clearly acting
- 17:23Speaker 3: in their own interests, not the children's. This report also
- 17:27Speaker 3: leaves out DCFS documented concerns about the other side, which
- 17:33Speaker 3: are on record in district court and with law enforcement.
- 17:37Speaker 3: The juvenile court will weigh all of that in full.
- 17:41Speaker 3: So what they're saying is the only thing that was
- 17:44Speaker 3: leaked was what the investigation and what the home visit
- 17:49Speaker 3: was for Taylor, but what happened at Dakota's home was not.
- 17:55Speaker 3: And if you remember I said to you earlier, I
- 17:59Speaker 3: was very in with Taylor's counsel because I thought that
- 18:04Speaker 3: they did a very good job. As I told you,
- 18:07Speaker 3: I thought that they outlawyered the other side at the
- 18:10Speaker 3: protective Order hearings. And I still believe that. But their
- 18:17Speaker 3: response to this, to this investigation being leaked, was not
- 18:23Speaker 3: only that statement, but it's also this one. And I'm
- 18:27Speaker 3: going to tell you what I really liked about it,
- 18:29Speaker 3: because they said Taylor is not deterred by this transition.
- 18:33Speaker 3: She welcomes the added structure and oversight it provides and
- 18:37Speaker 3: looks forward to continuing her progress toward normalizing custody and
- 18:43Speaker 3: becoming the healthiest version of herself. Taylor remains fully committed
- 18:48Speaker 3: to doing whatever is necessary to reach that goal and
- 18:51Speaker 3: will not be strayed from it. Taylor appreciates the professionalism
- 18:57Speaker 3: of dc FS and its representative. Now, the reason to me,
- 19:02Speaker 3: Ben that is so crucial is you can't make these
- 19:06Speaker 3: people your enemy. These people are they carry a lot
- 19:12Speaker 3: of weight in a dependency court, and if you attack them,
- 19:17Speaker 3: it's not going to go well for you. So I
- 19:20Speaker 3: very much like how they have dealt with this leaked information,
- 19:24Speaker 3: and I would use it to my advantage just as
- 19:28Speaker 3: they have. And this is wrong. This is wrong that
- 19:31Speaker 3: this was leaked to the public. It's not It doesn't
- 19:35Speaker 3: normally happen this way, and they may get punished by
- 19:38Speaker 3: the way if they can prove that it came from
- 19:41Speaker 3: them if the court inquires, and they can show that
- 19:45Speaker 3: they leaked it, you know, And I'll tell you Dakota's
- 19:50Speaker 3: friend Crewe is doing him no favors.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Well, sure, and I think that's a subject I'd like
- 19:57Speaker 2: to jump into next. But I don't want to make
- 19:59Speaker 2: an any false allegations here, but just for my sake
- 20:05Speaker 2: and our listener's sake, who would have had access to
- 20:08Speaker 2: this report once it was finished?
- 20:11Speaker 3: Not many people, not many people. And look there do
- 20:16Speaker 3: we know? Do we know who leaked it? We don't.
- 20:20Speaker 3: What we shared is the exact quote that was given
- 20:27Speaker 3: to people by Taylor's representatives, right, And I do believe
- 20:34Speaker 3: that this is not the first time that they've They've said, Look,
- 20:38Speaker 3: the video was leaked by him, this report was leaked
- 20:42Speaker 3: by him. And I think that it is something that
- 20:44Speaker 3: the court is certainly going to investigate because once you
- 20:50Speaker 3: are once you are leaking what the court views as
- 20:55Speaker 3: privileged court documents, you're getting into a territory where you
- 20:59Speaker 3: are involving the court, and you may be committing some
- 21:03Speaker 3: type of malfeasance. So I think the court is very
- 21:05Speaker 3: much going to inquire how this document became public.
- 21:10Speaker 2: I mean, so I think, to simplify the terms, very dumb.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Whoever did to leak this? Can we just say it all?
- 21:16Speaker 3: I mean, look, you know it may it may have
- 21:18Speaker 3: been very calculated, but you know, you, you know, are
- 21:23Speaker 3: you're maybe you're trying to win the bat the battle
- 21:26Speaker 3: of public you know, in the court of public opinion,
- 21:30Speaker 3: but you're losing it in the actual case where it matters,
- 21:33Speaker 3: you know, in the actual court, because this is not
- 21:37Speaker 3: something that the judge is going to look upon favorably.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Sure, for sure you brought up Crewe. Krewe is Dakota's roommate,
- 21:55Speaker 2: whose name has been tossed around in a lot of
- 21:57Speaker 2: articles based on you know, his involvement this situation, if
- 22:01Speaker 2: he is the leaker, if he's not the leaker, you know,
- 22:03Speaker 2: his protection of Dakota. But recently, Taylor was granted a
- 22:07Speaker 2: restraining order against Crewe, and I would love for you
- 22:12Speaker 2: to speak to that. I would also love to understand
- 22:16Speaker 2: how does that work, because if Crew and Dakota live
- 22:20Speaker 2: together and the kids are going over to Dakota's home
- 22:26Speaker 2: and Crew and Crew is there, how does that does
- 22:31Speaker 2: that play into it at all? I'm sure restraining order
- 22:33Speaker 2: is granted. Like, can the kids still be around him? Yeah?
- 22:36Speaker 3: So so would it would not? Okay, So let let
- 22:39Speaker 3: me let me talk about what happens here. Okay. Crew
- 22:45Speaker 3: had released something publicly about Dakota, and the judge granted
- 22:56Speaker 3: a stalking injunction. Okay, a stalking injunction against Crew, and
- 23:05Speaker 3: he is prohibited from contacting Paul in any manner, directly
- 23:12Speaker 3: or indirectly, including on social media, messaging, tagging her, or
- 23:17Speaker 3: contact through any third parties. He is also prohibited from posting, publishing,
- 23:23Speaker 3: or disseminating any statements, content, or comments, including content intended
- 23:30Speaker 3: to harass, intimidate, threaten, or damage Paul on Reddit, TikTok
- 23:35Speaker 3: any other website form or social media platform. So the
- 23:39Speaker 3: judge shut him down. Judge shut him down. And if
- 23:44Speaker 3: you violate that, it's a criminal offense.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Okay.
- 23:50Speaker 3: So he not only has to tread lightly, he is
- 23:54Speaker 3: it is a stalking injunction that prohibits him from bringing
- 23:59Speaker 3: her up publicly in any form, in any way, reaching
- 24:02Speaker 3: out to her, talking about her, and it can turn
- 24:07Speaker 3: criminal very quickly.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Would that include the leaking of documents of course?
- 24:14Speaker 3: Of course? Yeah, I mean that would be one of
- 24:18Speaker 3: the cardinal ones.
- 24:19Speaker 2: I would say, yeah, so it's gonna get I mean,
- 24:22Speaker 2: so CRU's involved himself now, like no matter what we
- 24:25Speaker 2: want to say, who's right or wrong, He's involved himself
- 24:27Speaker 2: and he is involved in this whole scenario.
- 24:31Speaker 3: So you know, I did not know Crewe. I did
- 24:35Speaker 3: not know about Crewe, but you all did. And he's
- 24:38Speaker 3: always been involved, am I right?
- 24:40Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 24:41Speaker 3: So this is Lily goes to ut.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Let's go Lily. So was Crewe? When you say involved,
- 24:48Speaker 2: was was he involved in like the Secret Lives of
- 24:50Speaker 2: Mormon Wives show or has he just been like a
- 24:52Speaker 2: background piece that when you say, what do you mean
- 24:56Speaker 2: when you say involvement, Lily, No, I don't.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Believe he was on the show as not in a
- 25:02Speaker 4: prominent role or anything. I think just like on TikTok
- 25:05Speaker 4: in his life, and I think a couple of weeks
- 25:07Speaker 4: ago it was alleged that he released a video of
- 25:11Speaker 4: Taylor and Dakota fighting, which was very against what the
- 25:14Speaker 4: court wanted, which like sparked all of this.
- 25:17Speaker 2: So he's just been involved. And so through the background
- 25:21Speaker 2: of everything he has been around, he's been rumored to be,
- 25:25Speaker 2: you know, the one advocating on Dakota's behalf and leaking
- 25:29Speaker 2: videos and speaking negatively about Paul. So when she requested
- 25:36Speaker 2: that he stays out of her life and the situation,
- 25:39Speaker 2: she was granted this for right now? Am I right?
- 25:42Speaker 3: Yeah? But let me also let me kind of full
- 25:45Speaker 3: circle this.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Remember, there is a protective order for three years in place,
- 25:52Speaker 3: both for Dakota to Taylor, Taylor to Dakota, and included
- 25:58Speaker 3: in that is a provision that you cannot contact this
- 26:03Speaker 3: person or discuss this person through a third party. So
- 26:08Speaker 3: they both can be in a lot of hot water
- 26:10Speaker 3: on two fronts now, because Crewe, if Crewe now has
- 26:15Speaker 3: a stalking injunction and Dakota has a protective order in place,
- 26:21Speaker 3: and if they are seen to be in somehow cahoots
- 26:25Speaker 3: in getting these videos leaked or posting things like this,
- 26:30Speaker 3: they're both going to be in criminal hot water.
- 26:34Speaker 2: How does social media play into this? Because the one
- 26:38Speaker 2: thing that has been interesting, and obviously this has been
- 26:44Speaker 2: an ongoing situation since February we're five months in, has
- 26:49Speaker 2: been you know, I don't really follow Dakota. I don't
- 26:53Speaker 2: know much about Dakota.
- 26:55Speaker 4: Money of them follow Dakota, not literally follow, but I've
- 26:59Speaker 4: seen this stuff.
- 27:01Speaker 3: Yea, all right, So this is Danielle from Vanderbilt.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Great School where my brother in law goes to school.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Right now.
- 27:13Speaker 3: So is Dakota very active on social media with his
- 27:16Speaker 3: friend crew? And do they talk about Taylor if you know?
- 27:20Speaker 5: I don't know about Crewe if he's all on there
- 27:22Speaker 5: with him. But they're all very active on the internet,
- 27:25Speaker 5: which I think is something that can put everyone in
- 27:27Speaker 5: the situation in hot water because they post so much,
- 27:31Speaker 5: well they used to at least post so much about
- 27:33Speaker 5: each other. Their lives are so intertwined that I think
- 27:36Speaker 5: if there's even like something that they mistakenly say, it
- 27:40Speaker 5: could get them in hot water. And time and time again,
- 27:42Speaker 5: we've seen Taylor Dakota's relationship be like, oh, we're breaking up,
- 27:47Speaker 5: We're never gonna speak to each other again, and they
- 27:48Speaker 5: get back together time and time again, and they're always
- 27:52Speaker 5: saying we won't be near each other. But with this
- 27:53Speaker 5: three year protective order, and it's really hard to understand
- 27:56Speaker 5: how that dynamics.
- 27:57Speaker 3: Really gonna work.
- 27:58Speaker 5: And also I just think because of being reality TV stars,
- 28:02Speaker 5: they want to keep themselves relevant as well to people
- 28:07Speaker 5: coming to them, so they could potentially say something that
- 28:10Speaker 5: could not favor them at the court.
- 28:11Speaker 3: By the way, on that note, Ben, one of the
- 28:15Speaker 3: things that Taylor in this report, this leaked report, apparently
- 28:22Speaker 3: said to them when they were talking about her lack
- 28:26Speaker 3: of commitment to treatment and therapy and getting well, she
- 28:29Speaker 3: said something like, I don't I don't have time to
- 28:35Speaker 3: attend therapy because I'm very busy with work. That is
- 28:39Speaker 3: not something judge is gonna want to hear.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the hey, everybody's busy. That's not a unique
- 28:48Speaker 2: problem and not really a sympathetic excuse that, hey, I'm
- 28:55Speaker 2: just so busy busy doesn't really work and it doesn't
- 28:59Speaker 2: really explain when you're having issues.
- 29:01Speaker 3: A judge doesn't care.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Sure, a judge's pretty busy also, And the same with
- 29:06Speaker 2: the you know, anybody that works in the court. So
- 29:09Speaker 2: I don't think it's sympathetic. They'll be sympathetic to that excuse.
- 29:12Speaker 2: But they cannot stay off social media, Allison. They just can't.
- 29:16Speaker 2: I mean goodness, we have tried to follow along and Taylor,
- 29:20Speaker 2: Frankie Paul the whole time, as I mentioned, we've just
- 29:22Speaker 2: been saying, hey, this doesn't look good. Like if this
- 29:25Speaker 2: was a friend of mine, I'd be saying, take a break,
- 29:27Speaker 2: take a step out, like stop the relevancy search that
- 29:31Speaker 2: is usually the death of a human and their character
- 29:34Speaker 2: and their personality is the search of relevancy. So if
- 29:38Speaker 2: you were her legal counsel.
- 29:40Speaker 3: I take away your phone.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Yeah you wouldn't, you would tell her stop. Right.
- 29:44Speaker 3: I just want I want your listeners to have a
- 29:48Speaker 3: visual of the actual people that are deciding the care
- 29:55Speaker 3: and custody of your children that you claim are the
- 29:58Speaker 3: most important people well in your life, these three children, right,
- 30:02Speaker 3: how important they are? Right? And all you want to
- 30:04Speaker 3: do is get better, to be a great mother, to
- 30:07Speaker 3: take care of them. These people are coming to interview you.
- 30:12Speaker 3: They come into your home and you not only can't
- 30:17Speaker 3: put down your phone, but you're looking at social media
- 30:21Speaker 3: and you get so agitated by what you see in
- 30:25Speaker 3: the comment section that you storm out of the meeting
- 30:30Speaker 3: and the DCFS investigator has to let themselves out of
- 30:35Speaker 3: your home.
- 30:37Speaker 2: I mean it's in my mind, I'm like, Okay, you
- 30:42Speaker 2: could put on your best behavior for two hours, right,
- 30:44Speaker 2: you could fake it at least. Yeah, So let's say
- 30:48Speaker 2: she was authentic to who she is in her everyday life.
- 30:51Speaker 2: At the least, do you mean almost to me, and
- 30:53Speaker 2: this is getting out of maybe the spectrum which we
- 30:56Speaker 2: can be expert ons. But it's like, maybe she doesn't
- 30:59Speaker 2: realize how serious this is, that you know, I would
- 31:03Speaker 2: be freaking out if all of these interviews and investigations
- 31:09Speaker 2: and core orders are coming down on me. And I
- 31:11Speaker 2: have these kids that I don't want to lose, and
- 31:14Speaker 2: yet I can't let my phone down for two hours
- 31:16Speaker 2: as they're at my home. It feels like maybe there
- 31:19Speaker 2: isn't the gravity of the situation doesn't seem to be
- 31:22Speaker 2: setting in yet. But the DCFS report was a pretty
- 31:28Speaker 2: clear sign to maybe Taylor and her team that this
- 31:32Speaker 2: is getting serious, that things aren't good right.
- 31:36Speaker 3: And I and by the way, and I'm going to
- 31:37Speaker 3: say this again, I don't know this lawyer, but I
- 31:43Speaker 3: like how they're lawyering for her. I like that they
- 31:47Speaker 3: appreciate that they write that Taylor appreciates the professionalism of DCFS,
- 31:52Speaker 3: And if I'm them, I say, now, I need you
- 31:57Speaker 3: to appreciate the professionalism of DCF. Now I need you
- 32:01Speaker 3: to understand that this is incredibly serious. And when they
- 32:06Speaker 3: come to your house, you're not looking at social media,
- 32:10Speaker 3: You're not you're you're saying I will and you mean
- 32:14Speaker 3: it though, you really mean that you will do whatever
- 32:19Speaker 3: in the world is asked of you for the betterment
- 32:23Speaker 3: of your children.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Where does this end? As we close up here? This
- 32:37Speaker 2: whole thing is as I said, you know, we've talked
- 32:40Speaker 2: about this really since February when the show shut down.
- 32:44Speaker 2: We've had a timeline here we could go through at
- 32:47Speaker 2: some point. I think we posted it on our social
- 32:50Speaker 2: media for a podcast of all the things that have
- 32:52Speaker 2: happened in the last few months. But to me it
- 32:57Speaker 2: this has helped, but it still feels chaotic, It still
- 33:00Speaker 2: feels messy. I don't know what the endgame is here.
- 33:05Speaker 2: Where does Where are we looking towards now Allison for
- 33:08Speaker 2: next steps future, those kind of things.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Right, So, so here's here's sort of what in my
- 33:17Speaker 3: mind remains out outstanding.
- 33:20Speaker 6: Right.
- 33:20Speaker 3: I think the protective orders are in effect for three years.
- 33:25Speaker 3: Could could as Danielle said, is there a possibility that
- 33:34Speaker 3: within those three years one of them can't stay away
- 33:37Speaker 3: from the other one or vice or so so could
- 33:40Speaker 3: that flare up? Absolutely? I think that there will be cut.
- 33:46Speaker 3: You know, there's temporary custody child custody orders in place.
- 33:50Speaker 3: I mean I'm sure that Taylor doesn't like an arrangement
- 33:55Speaker 3: where she sees her children once once a week and
- 33:58Speaker 3: then on alternative weekends. Right as to ever, I'm sure
- 34:01Speaker 3: that that's that's something that she wants to change. DCFS.
- 34:05Speaker 3: We looked, and if your listeners know something more than
- 34:10Speaker 3: we do, I gladly will listen to it. But we
- 34:13Speaker 3: don't seem to even know the DCFS has asked for
- 34:19Speaker 3: an expedited hearing. It doesn't seem to be a date
- 34:23Speaker 3: that there hasn't seemed to be a date set for
- 34:26Speaker 3: that hearing yet, and perhaps the perhaps her attorneys want
- 34:34Speaker 3: a little bit more time to get a new report,
- 34:37Speaker 3: if that's possible change things around a little bit. That's
- 34:41Speaker 3: certainly that certainly in the near future, because they ask
- 34:47Speaker 3: for an expedited hearing, so I assume that that will
- 34:51Speaker 3: be set within the next month at the latest.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Do you is there a chance, I mean, if you
- 34:57Speaker 2: were to kind of review everything you've reviewed, is there
- 34:59Speaker 2: a chance that Taylor loses custody?
- 35:02Speaker 3: I don't think at this stage they're going to strip
- 35:08Speaker 3: her of custody. And I'm gonna tell you why courts
- 35:12Speaker 3: disfavor terminating parental rights Okay, so I don't believe. You know,
- 35:21Speaker 3: it's usually the worst of the worst where they terminate
- 35:23Speaker 3: parental rights. That's not going to be the case here.
- 35:26Speaker 3: This mom clearly loves her children. She's got to work
- 35:28Speaker 3: on her parenting skills. But I don't think she isn't
- 35:32Speaker 3: invested in her children. I think that she does. The
- 35:36Speaker 3: custody issues will be much more decided in the child
- 35:41Speaker 3: custody court. But what kind of intervention is DCFS going
- 35:49Speaker 3: to require of Taylor? And certainly they're going to require
- 35:57Speaker 3: some serious intervention, therapy, parenting, all of those things, and
- 36:03Speaker 3: she'd better be taking it really seriously because she doesn't
- 36:08Speaker 3: want them to get to the next step, which if
- 36:11Speaker 3: both parents are problematic, they remove them from the home
- 36:15Speaker 3: and put them in foster care until they get until
- 36:18Speaker 3: they get these these classes completed and these remedial steps taken.
- 36:26Speaker 3: So they may say, well, she's not taking this seriously,
- 36:30Speaker 3: so we're gonna remove them from her care, put them
- 36:33Speaker 3: in the other parents for a period. And if Dakota
- 36:37Speaker 3: is also not doing what he's supposed to do, and
- 36:39Speaker 3: again we don't know what his report says, there was
- 36:43Speaker 3: something by the way that I think we should mention that.
- 36:48Speaker 3: On July eighth, Commissioner Russell Menis made an unexpected recommendation
- 36:54Speaker 3: about the two year old, asking Dakota to not have
- 36:58Speaker 3: ever ride on his motorcycle with him. Paul's lawyer claimed
- 37:03Speaker 3: that Dakota had taken the two year old on highway
- 37:08Speaker 3: rides through traffic. Yeah, oh, I see your eyes, Ben,
- 37:13Speaker 3: I mean if people aren't old, I mean on on
- 37:16Speaker 3: the freeway on his motorcycle two year old.
- 37:19Speaker 2: So, Dakota's lawyer said, I think that was an e bike. Still,
- 37:24Speaker 2: come on, I mean, I have a two year old, Like,
- 37:27Speaker 2: she's not almost two. I guess she's not sitting on
- 37:30Speaker 2: my lap.
- 37:31Speaker 3: It's not happening while like it's a motorized vehicle.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Yeah, Like there's no way, Like I'm a nervous a bike.
- 37:39Speaker 3: This isn't a bike where you have like the car
- 37:42Speaker 3: seat in the back, you know, like all in nineteen seventies. No,
- 37:46Speaker 3: this is a motorized vehicle.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean we have a little red wagon that
- 37:51Speaker 2: is stuffed with pillows. Because I can't, like, I just can't.
- 37:56Speaker 2: I mean, she's she's still too goodness gracious, that's wild. Yeah,
- 38:02Speaker 2: all right, Well, outside of any personal judgments that I
- 38:04Speaker 2: have because I'm trying to keep those to a minimum
- 38:07Speaker 2: during all this. This whole thing is wild. Final question
- 38:10Speaker 2: for you, Allison, do you think they'll air the season
- 38:14Speaker 2: of the Bachelorette.
- 38:15Speaker 3: Absolutely? There's way too much money involved.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Oh goodness.
- 38:19Speaker 3: I mean, Ben, you know this. I mean you know this. Look.
- 38:23Speaker 3: I can say this much more freely, probably than most. Okay,
- 38:29Speaker 3: when it comes to successful shows, this is going to
- 38:35Speaker 3: be a very successful season. Okay, all this hype, pulling it,
- 38:42Speaker 3: all this drama, that's what TV viewership is about. I predict,
- 38:48Speaker 3: other than your season, Ben, it's going to be the
- 38:51Speaker 3: highest rated season.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, I appreciate that.
- 38:55Speaker 3: I want to ask the interns if I miss something,
- 38:57Speaker 3: because they put together.
- 39:00Speaker 2: Great hang up job for me.
- 39:02Speaker 3: Yeah, and thought anybody.
- 39:07Speaker 2: That's pretty good. My two cents is Allison, and I
- 39:11Speaker 2: can say this. I hope they don't air it because
- 39:13Speaker 2: everything we talked about when it comes to social media,
- 39:18Speaker 2: the pressures, the comments, the relevancy factors being talked about
- 39:25Speaker 2: just gets heightened when you're on this show. There's none
- 39:28Speaker 2: of that that would at this point in time. I
- 39:31Speaker 2: don't see how it would be helpful for the lead
- 39:34Speaker 2: of the show at any level to have this thing air.
- 39:38Speaker 3: I will tell you that if I'm her lawyer, I
- 39:40Speaker 3: do not I am. I am saying we do not
- 39:42Speaker 3: want it to air while there's while there's pending matters,
- 39:45Speaker 3: especially d CFS, right, because there's you know, anything that
- 39:50Speaker 3: that she did is going to be used. My question,
- 39:54Speaker 3: my last question to you, Ben is I've had the
- 39:58Speaker 3: pleasure of being on your show handful of times. Now,
- 40:01Speaker 3: how are you so normal?
- 40:04Speaker 2: That's really sweet? You want my honest answer?
- 40:08Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I mean, because you really are not only
- 40:12Speaker 3: bright and engaging, you're really down to earth in such
- 40:15Speaker 3: a decent guy.
- 40:17Speaker 2: You know. I have really good friends that never thought
- 40:20Speaker 2: I was that cool. In fact, I tell the story
- 40:22Speaker 2: of when I left to be the Bachelor, they say, cool,
- 40:24Speaker 2: you're gonna be go. You're gonna go and be king
- 40:26Speaker 2: of the nerds. So that was one thing they never
- 40:28Speaker 2: thought I was that tight. I have a great family,
- 40:30Speaker 2: and my faith is very important to me, and so
- 40:33Speaker 2: I just have like a deep seated belief I guess
- 40:37Speaker 2: that I should never find myself to be that cool,
- 40:40Speaker 2: and that I have to understand my place in the world.
- 40:43Speaker 2: And I think that's helped.
- 40:45Speaker 3: So I think that my advice for the reality stars
- 40:48Speaker 3: that I represent and the celebrities and whatever that I
- 40:52Speaker 3: handle is be more like Ben.
- 40:55Speaker 2: You know, it is a fun life. I still really
- 40:57Speaker 2: enjoy it, and I get to talk to people like
- 40:59Speaker 2: you and the great students behind you. I get like
- 41:02Speaker 2: the best of all worlds.
- 41:03Speaker 3: Wait, I'm gonna let them, if you would indulge, let
- 41:06Speaker 3: me let them introduce themselves. Please, they they work so
- 41:09Speaker 3: hard this summer.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Yeah, please, I'm gonna get out of the way. I'm
- 41:13Speaker 2: gonna ask you one question if you guys can and
- 41:16Speaker 2: you have like twenty seconds, your name, where you're graduating from,
- 41:19Speaker 2: and then what is like your dream for your next step,
- 41:22Speaker 2: and then we'll get out of here.
- 41:24Speaker 3: Hello. My name is Bern.
- 41:25Speaker 6: I'm gonna be a senior at San Diego State University,
- 41:28Speaker 6: and I guess my dream for the next step is
- 41:30Speaker 6: to figure out I guess and hone in on what
- 41:33Speaker 6: law I want to do and then go to law
- 41:34Speaker 6: school and finish that awesome.
- 41:37Speaker 5: Hi, I'm Danielle. I'm going into my senior year at Vanderbilt,
- 41:41Speaker 5: and I think my next step is definitely enjoying my
- 41:45Speaker 5: senior year, but then getting ready for the ELSAT.
- 41:50Speaker 3: I'm Willie.
- 41:51Speaker 4: I go to UT Austin. I'm going to be a sophomore,
- 41:53Speaker 4: so definitely finishing up the rest of college and then
- 41:57Speaker 4: figure out what I want to do. And I definitely
- 41:59Speaker 4: need to see Taylor's He's another bachelor.
- 42:01Speaker 3: In the future.
- 42:02Speaker 2: I like that. Take. My name is Brady.
- 42:06Speaker 7: I'm a sophomore at UFC Chapel Hill, and for me,
- 42:10Speaker 7: I just I just want to get through the rest
- 42:11Speaker 7: of undergrad pretty smooth, looking forward to seeing what the
- 42:17Speaker 7: year has for me and what law school has for
- 42:19Speaker 7: me right after.
- 42:22Speaker 2: I'm Jesse.
- 42:23Speaker 3: I just graduated from CU Boulder.
- 42:26Speaker 5: I'm currently studying for the ALSAT and kind of hoding
- 42:29Speaker 5: in on exactly what type of law I want to
- 42:31Speaker 5: do and excited to pursue whatever.
- 42:33Speaker 3: Whatever that is.
- 42:35Speaker 2: I live. I live in Golden, Colorado, so we're not
- 42:38Speaker 2: far from you.
- 42:39Speaker 3: Golden's great.
- 42:40Speaker 1: You know.
- 42:40Speaker 3: My name's Brandon.
- 42:41Speaker 7: I'm going to be a freshman at NYU, and I
- 42:43Speaker 7: think my next step is figuring out how to live
- 42:46Speaker 7: on my own honor.
- 42:48Speaker 3: And by the way, he was our youngest and we
- 42:50Speaker 3: usually take only college students and he has crushed it
- 42:53Speaker 3: this summer, so you know, it's it's great when someone
- 42:56Speaker 3: is that driven even before they get to college.
- 42:59Speaker 2: Well, you're learning the best, you are the future. Thanks
- 43:02Speaker 2: to all of you for putting this together. Alison, thanks
- 43:04Speaker 2: for your time. Again. I always learned so much and
- 43:07Speaker 2: it helps take away I think talking to you helps
- 43:10Speaker 2: take away my judgment of the situation, my personal judgment
