- 0:00Welcome back to another edition of the Beef Forever Cool
- 0:02podcast. My name is Rex 45.
- 0:04We got the real Luis Ortega in the building.
- 0:06We got Cheetah 747. What's going on fellas?
- 0:10How you doing tonight Cheetah? Good man, another day, another
- 0:14dollar. That's how I'm thinking today.
- 0:16It was a it was a good, good weekend, man.
- 0:18I was busy all week. So you know, it's just been in
- 0:20that mode of go, go, go. It was fun to catch up on the
- 0:23races, man, over the weekend definitely.
- 0:25That's what's up. I hate you about being busy.
- 0:27I don't like it. I don't like it one bit.
- 0:29How about yourself, Lewis, man? Same here man, busy busy
- 0:33weekend. But it was it was a good time.
- 0:36I got a lot of done, got to see some some good racing this
- 0:40weekend. Moto GP, Moto 2, Moto 3, Moto
- 0:44America. So good balance of work and
- 0:47play. Nice, I like that.
- 0:50Same here and well, let's jump into it.
- 0:53Let's talk about qualifying and Moto GP before qualifying.
- 0:57A lot of crashes. Marquez, you know, jacked
- 1:00himself up a couple of times. Some riders went down there.
- 1:04What are your thoughts on the 12 guys in qualifying and it is it
- 1:09safe to say that Quatarara might get a lot more polls before the
- 1:13the year's over? Dude, he's got a lot of those
- 1:16Tisel watches, doesn't he? Like at this point so.
- 1:19For. Sure, so once again, he mean
- 1:22he's showing that he's he's definitely deserves that seat on
- 1:24Yamaha more than anyone. He's he's the top dog there.
- 1:27And you know, Pekko was able to get in 2nd, Alex in 3rd, but I
- 1:32think what happened is, you know, you saw Mark over, you
- 1:35know, I think he overthrew turn 1 going into one of those laps
- 1:38and that was his last chance at at getting pole over there.
- 1:41But Mark's just insane, man. I mean, we can talk about the
- 1:44race in a minute, but him going into those, the those couple
- 1:48crashes he had weren't weren't easy on him, man.
- 1:50He had that messed up jaw and he looking like Crimson chin.
- 1:55If y'all remember Crimson chin. Yeah, but like he, he really, I
- 1:59remember back in the day when he was on I think in, in early in
- 2:02the, in the in the Honda days, he had another crash like that
- 2:05on Moto 2 where he had his chin fucked up or messed up brother.
- 2:09So yeah, man, it was it's it's crazy to see people push through
- 2:12that. But that just goes to show you
- 2:13like sometimes we don't see those crashes and we don't see
- 2:16the effects of it. But physically seeing damage on
- 2:19him like that really goes to show this man really got into
- 2:22battle with the ground, you know, like he really tossed and
- 2:25tumbled. And it's like fighting, man,
- 2:27You, you don't see that until you see physical damage.
- 2:28Sometimes you don't realize. So yeah, it was intense.
- 2:32Yeah. What are your thoughts, Louis?
- 2:34It was good. I mean, the first, the first
- 2:38free practice, I had to go back and like watch it a couple of
- 2:41times, 'cause I was like, did nobody go out?
- 2:45Why is Raul Fernandez like I'm the one of the fastest guys?
- 2:51And then I kind of realized, oh, OK, it's it kind of everything
- 2:54balanced out. I think Quattaro's got at least
- 2:58three more poles in him. Just knowing the tracks that are
- 3:01coming and what he can do with some of those tracks.
- 3:04It just sucks that the bike doesn't have the race pace to do
- 3:08that for a race distance. You know, you can pull out, like
- 3:11we've said it before, you can pull out a magic lap out of your
- 3:13ass and get an incredible pole and get a nice watch.
- 3:16But I'm sure he'd trade in all those watches if you can stand
- 3:19on that top step, man. And you can't stand on the top
- 3:23step if you're riding at 150% of what the bike is even capable of
- 3:27doing, you know? Do you guys think that V4 motor
- 3:31for Yamaha is the way to go? They've tested it already, you
- 3:36know, you have an idea why you think the hold up is for them
- 3:38not using that engine and rolling it out because this
- 3:41can't feel good for Quatuara being able to get on pole and
- 3:45just can't, you know, fight during the race.
- 3:49Yeah. I mean, we could sit here and
- 3:50guess, I mean we're no one has that insider knowledge I would
- 3:52say to say what exactly is holding them up.
- 3:55But if it's if it looks like testing is going well for them,
- 3:58I mean, I would hope to see it sometime before the end of the
- 4:00season. But you know, so we've talked
- 4:02about this before it they may not bring it out till next
- 4:05season and may just bring it in maybe a wild card situation or
- 4:08like maybe testing situations only.
- 4:11So I mean, but hopefully he gets what he needs because he's a,
- 4:15he's a top dog for sure, and a true and a true top writer.
- 4:20Yeah, I think in the in the class, I think him and Mark are
- 4:24the leaders of the class in Hole in Talent.
- 4:27I think Quadraro and Mark can out talent everybody else in the
- 4:32entire field. It's Mark is in, it's in a
- 4:36better position because he's in a better bike.
- 4:38And Cuatraro is in Mark's old position when Mark was on an
- 4:41inferior bike. He's trying to out ride the
- 4:43limitations of the bike. And unfortunately you you can't
- 4:46do that all the time. You can get away with it here
- 4:49and there. I mean, even Mark had a few
- 4:51glimmers of brilliance on the Honda in the last couple of
- 4:54years. But, you know, the same with
- 4:57Coderaro, He's had a few glimmers of brilliance.
- 4:59But you can't sustain that when you have to ride outside your
- 5:02skin and hope that the bike can kind of do what you're asking it
- 5:07to do, which it can't, you know, it just can't.
- 5:09It's, you know, they need something because I don't see
- 5:13Coderaro staying with Yamaha much longer if his career is
- 5:18going to be visiting a lot of Kitty litter at countries all
- 5:21around the world. Like he's too damn good for
- 5:24that. And another company will come
- 5:26along and and be like, hey, we got this little Brinks truck
- 5:28over here. Just jump inside and grab as
- 5:31much as you want. And by the way, our bikes better
- 5:32than Yamaha's. Right.
- 5:35You know, what are you, what are your guys thoughts on Bagnaya?
- 5:39You know, he qualified 2IN in Q2, may qualify in second
- 5:44position and in front and he's the first Ducati.
- 5:47Did you guys think that, OK, this might be the track we're
- 5:50about Bagnaya might come out on top just based on seeing what he
- 5:54did in Q2 or you just figured he got he got lucky?
- 5:57I mean, I think he I think he was showing himself out like we
- 6:01spoke about, like Lewis said, anyone can do one lap a solid on
- 6:04softs. He did the same thing in
- 6:05Mugello. Whole time he was having trouble
- 6:07in in practice and in free practice.
- 6:09And then he goes into quality and suddenly everything feels
- 6:11fine and he's got that soft on the bike and suddenly it's
- 6:14working like that. But come race time, it goes back
- 6:17to normal. What I think is I was hoping for
- 6:20a good Sprint situation. He did perform better in the
- 6:23race. Hopefully he didn't finish the
- 6:25Sprint and go straight to a tattoo parlor to get that tattoo
- 6:28removed. But he did wait it out till
- 6:30Sunday at least to see how he did.
- 6:31So I mean, we got more to see. Let's see how Saxon Ring goes
- 6:35'cause that's I think that's next, right?
- 6:36We're going to Germany. So we'll see.
- 6:40Yeah. And I mean in qualifying, if you
- 6:42look, I think it was the top 11 or the top 12 were all within
- 6:46one second of each other and some of them were within like
- 6:50less than a 10th of each other. So there was a lot of stacked
- 6:53talent in the front. But again, this is that one lap.
- 6:57Put the qualifying tires on the stickiest rubber that I can get,
- 7:01go out there with the lightest fuel load and try to RIP, you
- 7:05know, 3 fast laps and see which of those laps gets me somewhere.
- 7:09Again, that's not a true race condition.
- 7:11I mean that gets you in the best position to be competitive when
- 7:14the race hits because you don't want to start from the 5th row
- 7:17and try to get through, especially on this track.
- 7:19This track is very narrow and has a lot of fast, narrow turns.
- 7:23So there's not a lot of great positions where you going to
- 7:25outbreak somebody without doing some kamikaze.
- 7:30So it did help him, but then once the race pace hit and now
- 7:34you had to do this kind of race pace for a long distance, that's
- 7:37when you started to see him, you know, kind of struggle, start
- 7:40falling back, try to crawl himself back a little bit.
- 7:44You know, unfortunately, Alex Marquez had his incident with
- 7:49with Pedro Acosta and that cost Alex that.
- 7:52And even Pedro once he kind of once the KTM kind of lost its
- 7:56grip and everything, he ended up where he was at.
- 7:58So you know, realistically Beko, I'm not going to say he got
- 8:01gifted 1/3, but I think if Alex hadn't had his incident, I think
- 8:05it would have been Alex and Pekko fighting for third versus
- 8:08Pekko just kind of maintaining the distance between himself and
- 8:12Acosta and and ending up in 3rd. Got you.
- 8:16All right. How about Bizeki?
- 8:19I mean, I had him. I had him as somebody that could
- 8:21have won the race, a second and a third place, pretty impressive
- 8:26for Aprilia and in in the main race.
- 8:30I mean, you know, he was right there with Mark.
- 8:32He couldn't get around them. But I mean, I, I think this is
- 8:35the first rider that we've seen put pressure on Mark the last
- 8:39three laps of a of a race. Yeah, for sure.
- 8:42I think I didn't expect that at all come in, especially in the
- 8:45Sprint the way he did. I mean, for those few laps, I
- 8:48just sat there thinking like, is he going to pass Alex and Mark
- 8:51right now with the pace he's bringing?
- 8:53It was really fast, man. And all of a sudden somewhere in
- 8:56the Sprint, it evened out it even back out and he stayed in
- 8:59in that steady 3rd that he finished in.
- 9:01And even in the race man, I mean, he just has that extra
- 9:04gear in this at this track or something.
- 9:05But that Aprilia seems to be coming together for him.
- 9:10And I mean, I wouldn't have bet who would have finished in
- 9:13second. Was it Alex or Bez for the race
- 9:16if Alex hadn't gone down. That's how that's how good with
- 9:18Bez was riding there. So very impressive by him.
- 9:21Got you. And I mean, I think Alex was in
- 9:25fourth place fighting for fifth with Pekko when he went down.
- 9:28So he was kind of backsliding a little bit.
- 9:31But go ahead, Lewis. Yeah, Marco Buzzacki put on a
- 9:35great show both in the Sprint and in the race.
- 9:39In the Sprint, he definitely again, truncated race.
- 9:43So you get to burn your tires a little more.
- 9:46So you don't really have to conserve, you don't have to
- 9:47really pace yourself. You can just go full throttle
- 9:49because you only have half the distance and you know that if
- 9:52you manage the tires, you can go 20 plus laps.
- 9:55And if I don't manage the tire, who cares?
- 9:56I only have 11 laps. Let me burn the the, you know,
- 9:59the rubber to the steel threads and see what I can do.
- 10:02He had great pace. He got close to the two guys in
- 10:05the front and then it kind of just, you know, settled into
- 10:08that. I can't really get them.
- 10:11They're pushing. I'm pushing.
- 10:13I'd rather bring it home on the box than in a box.
- 10:16So let me just stay with third. And then on Saturday he had
- 10:20really great pace. He got past a lot of guys like
- 10:23he did. You know, he didn't have as many
- 10:25guys to get through. Like he didn't start from 18th
- 10:27place to finish 5th. So that was good for him.
- 10:31But the one thing that did happen in that race that
- 10:34hopefully now will shut all these sofa mutants up is when he
- 10:39got behind Mark, Mark managed him from the front.
- 10:45And all these people that are saying that all Alex just sits
- 10:48behind his brother. Alex doesn't try to pass him.
- 10:50Alex isn't trying to be. It's not that you got a guy
- 10:54that's a beast in front of you. Catching Mark and passing Mark
- 10:58are two different animals. And as the tires go down,
- 11:02passing him becomes even harder because if you looked at the
- 11:05race, you can see the slinky effect.
- 11:08Mark knew where he was slower, so he would gap him where he was
- 11:11faster. He knew he was going to lose
- 11:13that gap where he was slower, and then he would gap him again
- 11:16where he was faster. Like coming out of that.
- 11:18Yeah. Coming out of that last chicane
- 11:20to come on a front straightaway, Bazecki look like, oh, he's
- 11:23about to make a lunge. And then coming out of that
- 11:25marks like 10 bike lens in front of like, dude, how did you get
- 11:2810 bike lens in a kink? You're supposed to go slower.
- 11:32Yeah, and he he pass Pekko in that corner and Acosta I
- 11:37believe. And and Mark, again, this guy is
- 11:41so intelligent. Not only is he talented, he
- 11:43literally was like, I know how fast Bazecki is in that corner.
- 11:47So that means he's studied everybody's data.
- 11:49He's seen where everybody has strengths and weaknesses and
- 11:52understands every opponent's strengths and weaknesses.
- 11:55And when it's time to race and he knows who's behind him, he
- 11:58somehow goes in his memory and is like, all right, I know
- 12:01they're fast and turn 11/12/13. I know they struggle here and
- 12:04struggle there. I'm faster here if there.
- 12:06I don't need to look back. I can manage this just by
- 12:08looking on my board and see what the time is and understanding
- 12:11what I need to do to maintain them there.
- 12:14And the dude's a beast, man. So for everybody that thinks
- 12:16that Mark's just letting him win, like nobody lets anybody
- 12:21win. If you understood how much money
- 12:23is at stake between 2nd place and 1st place, you would you
- 12:27would just shut your mouth, man. It's ridiculous.
- 12:29And I would say I I was going to say that that you know what,
- 12:34what want him to raise his intelligence or just his ability
- 12:38to ride the bike. And you kind of answer that,
- 12:41Which is it? I think I to me is his
- 12:42intelligent in this this weekend because he wasn't the fastest
- 12:46guy this weekend and he didn't get the best start.
- 12:49He didn't get a bad start, but he didn't start out in first
- 12:52place, but he figured out how to get there.
- 12:54And once he was there, he he just used the smarts to manage
- 12:56that. And Peko was good at doing that
- 12:58last year. But unfortunately this year's a
- 13:01little bit story. What are your thoughts on Raul
- 13:03Fernandez? I mean, I, I, I still think this
- 13:06could be a digi in 2020. What one and two where he saved
- 13:09his career because Raul is riding at Aprilia.
- 13:12Really nice too. Yeah, yeah, something happened
- 13:16in the Sprint, right where they they climb, Morbideli and him
- 13:19clashed. I know Olivera, Olivera girls.
- 13:23There it was. I think it was Olivera on the on
- 13:26the in the I got to look. I got to look at.
- 13:29This no Fernandez. No, no, it was Fernandez and.
- 13:32More fidelity touched him. And was it Morbidel I think?
- 13:36It was just like Morbideli man again.
- 13:38And it it was, yeah. Because he went down.
- 13:41Oh, because yeah, he went down in his Sprint.
- 13:43Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. OK, so that happened, but yeah,
- 13:47I mean, he's looking pretty good.
- 13:48I mean, right, there's only a few few Aprilia's to compare to
- 13:53right at this point. But it's it's them too right now
- 13:56because Aya Guru was kind of doing all right until he broke
- 13:59his his leg. So, I mean, you know, it it.
- 14:03So yeah. So those are the 2.
- 14:05And it looks like Bazecki's the Reference.
- 14:10Yeah, Yeah. I mean, I don't have much to say
- 14:11about that. But I mean, I think he may or
- 14:14may not have that shot at next year again with with Aprilia, I
- 14:17don't know because it's it's going to go year by year for him
- 14:19at this point. Yeah, yeah.
- 14:21Well, he has a two year contract still so.
- 14:24Oh, it goes still 27 for 26. The 26 he he has to renew for 27
- 14:29or find a new job, but if his teammate is still Algura and he
- 14:33keeps performing Algura, then you know you kind of do secure
- 14:36your job at that point as long as you're better than your
- 14:39teammate. You know, very few teams get rid
- 14:41of the number one rider on the team, even if they're not at the
- 14:44top level. But a top 10 for Ferraro
- 14:47Fernandez is is great. You know, at least for his
- 14:50career, for his confidence. Because, I mean, he started this
- 14:52year and the way he was riding, it seemed like he had no
- 14:55confidence in himself, in the bike and the tires and anything.
- 14:59And now in the last couple of races, he started to put some
- 15:01stuff together, started to qualify a little bit better.
- 15:05Isn't finding the Kitty litter as much without Morbidelli's
- 15:08help or somebody else's help Warren Bedelli loves.
- 15:11He should put a patch on his back.
- 15:13Says this way to the Kitty litter because he's going to put
- 15:16you in the rocks. Was it, I forget, was it the
- 15:18Sprint race or the main race? He had the long lap penalty.
- 15:22Main race. Main race.
- 15:24Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, I don't it.
- 15:27Was him and Digi right? Yeah, him and DG.
- 15:30When he got that, yeah. And he was like, they weren't
- 15:32let. I remember the commentators
- 15:33being like, yo, let him go by, man.
- 15:35Like pretty much being like, yo, you're not letting him by.
- 15:37Go do the long lap. And he again.
- 15:39There is a big difference in pay between one spot and the other.
- 15:43Every spot you have is a little bit more coin in your pocket
- 15:46and, and and this is not my job to let you go by me.
- 15:50Right. But I think for for Mobidelli,
- 15:56if he was smarter and we've seen, I think Lorenzo and
- 15:58Marquez do this, oh, Marquez do this last year, he should have
- 16:02let him go. He should he should have let him
- 16:03go because he had no space between the guys behind him that
- 16:07it wouldn't have mattered. But he had a chance to at least
- 16:09finish in front of Digi instead of doing that long life penalty
- 16:12because he just had to just fall back a position.
- 16:14And oh, I think I'll lose a second, I think.
- 16:17Yeah, yeah, he only lost one. I mean, going through that
- 16:20particular long lap, I think it adds like 1.8 seconds if you do
- 16:24it like spot on. And if you look at the way he
- 16:26did it, he did it spot on and it dropped him back like maybe a
- 16:31second, you know, and he finished in that same spot.
- 16:34It's not like he went any further back because there was
- 16:36such a big gap from that spot. So, you know, but again, it's,
- 16:39it's sometimes it's the finding mentality.
- 16:40Like, I don't want to let anybody go by, especially my
- 16:43teammate. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:47Go ahead. No, I think it was just, I think
- 16:49it was combined the fact with the LLP, the long life penalty
- 16:52right there in that lap while they were saying that.
- 16:54Other than that, yeah, Lewis is right.
- 16:56You don't let somebody by just because you're a teammate or you
- 16:58know they can have a chance of doing anything points wise or.
- 17:01If you guys want to see the Formula One movie.
- 17:04Have you seen it? Yes.
- 17:06My brother's son told me to see it.
- 17:08In the movie that Brad Pitt and his teammate are going neck and
- 17:13neck and they end up crashing. And he said and he's like, you
- 17:19know, the teammate came over was like, oh, you didn't let me
- 17:21pass. He's like, it's not my job.
- 17:23I don't let anybody pass. A teammate or not, I don't let
- 17:27anybody pass. You got to earn your pass.
- 17:29And same thing, man. In racing, you know, unless you
- 17:32have a mechanical issue or something where you can cause
- 17:36yourself injury or somebody else injury, you do everything you
- 17:39can to keep the guy behind you. It's going to be tough because I
- 17:45think MOBA Deli's he's definitely shooting himself in
- 17:49the foot like every round he gets like, you know, one step
- 17:52forward and two step backwards with these action and and
- 17:55hopefully he'll sort and and this carried over from last year
- 17:57too. So I can't at least this year's
- 17:59a little bit better. But he just he seems to get into
- 18:03weird situation. Let's talk about Yamaha with
- 18:06Olivera, because he he had went off in in in the race.
- 18:09This guy has so much bad luck by that.
- 18:12Like he can't even finish our our weekend.
- 18:16Yeah, How did Oliver go out? That's with iagura.
- 18:19Yeah. Right, all in the beginning.
- 18:21Right, that's with that was with Iagura.
- 18:23Yeah, man, that's unfortunate for him.
- 18:26What can you do? I mean, right.
- 18:31I mean, I don't even know what to say for that.
- 18:32Agora clashed him. Did Algora didn't go down though
- 18:35right? Yeah, he went down.
- 18:37He went down. Olivera stayed up.
- 18:40No, he went down too. He was out.
- 18:42Olivier was out. Mayor was out.
- 18:43Al Diguer was out, Alex and Salvadari.
- 18:47Yeah, Al Diguer went out in that high side later, but yeah, I
- 18:49forget how Oliver went down, but it's unfortunate, man.
- 18:51Like, what can you do? It was getting really crazy in
- 18:55the in that that track had some weird stuff going on even in the
- 18:57beginning, right? Like they were saying it was
- 18:58cold and hot temperatures or something weird with the
- 19:01temperature. We saw the high sides, like the
- 19:04rear would come around, but then the front look like it was
- 19:07having a lot of chatter with the girls crash.
- 19:10I remember that. And that's just like a sign
- 19:11chatter, the sign of too much grip.
- 19:13So I don't know what that what that means when that when that
- 19:15happens at that those kinds of tracks, they couldn't get that
- 19:18doubt in. And then all of a sudden, of
- 19:19course, that's the biggest challenge of of GP.
- 19:21That's what that's why it's so interesting to see like we see
- 19:24the winners and the losers, but they've had to battle in there
- 19:28within their own challenges. So much like they have to battle
- 19:31with tire pressures, everything going on with the body, the the
- 19:34physical changes, the characteristics, when
- 19:35temperature changes, the tire changes.
- 19:38Mark is just able to deal with that in such a deadly way that
- 19:41he knows every strategy, everything in the book and he
- 19:44knows mental games. So I mean, it's just wild, man.
- 19:47It's a fun game to watch. I I love this thing.
- 19:50I think I got sidetracked on that one.
- 19:52No worries, we're talking about I I agree.
- 19:54I agree Oliver is misstep, but I might as well add Lewis.
- 19:58I mean, Jack Miller is looking pretty good.
- 20:00I mean, you know, if there's a guy that you, you know, trying
- 20:02to save a seat, this is, this is another guy that's he's like the
- 20:05second Yamaha right now. Yeah, he's the second Yamaha,
- 20:10but I I think it's a little, I think it's a little too little,
- 20:14a little too late for him. I got again, I still believe in
- 20:18my heart of hearts that his future lies outside of Moto GPI
- 20:22mean he still might get a ride in Moto GP for next year.
- 20:25But you know, as, as an actual fan of Jack Miller's, I would
- 20:29prefer to see him on a competitive bike and road super
- 20:32bike versus racing for 14th or 15th place in Moto GP.
- 20:36You know, I, I don't think as a competitor, you wake up every
- 20:40Sunday, put on that helmet and be like, I can't wait to come in
- 20:4314th place, you know, because my bike sucks and this sucks.
- 20:47And you know, and I got, you know, guys that are 14 years
- 20:52younger than me finishing seven spots ahead of me.
- 20:55And you know, like I think it, you know, if he I don't know
- 20:59what his management is thinking, if he gets another opportunity
- 21:02to stay in GP and if it's for more than a year, I would take
- 21:06it. If it's an opportunity to stay
- 21:07in GP and it's only a one year contract, but you can get
- 21:10yourself A2 year contract in world super bike, go to world
- 21:12super bike man. Like he's again, he's a super
- 21:15talented rider and he's a fan favorite fans all over the world
- 21:19like this guy. That dude is super personable.
- 21:22He loves to be in the crowd. He loves to entertain the
- 21:26audience, so give him an opportunity to go to World Super
- 21:28Bike, where the paddock is a little bit less restrictive than
- 21:31the GP paddock. It's a little bit more of a
- 21:34family environment and where he can kind of just be himself, be
- 21:37natural, enjoy himself and try to fight again for that podium
- 21:41spot, man. Because you're not going to do
- 21:42it on the Yamaha at least, right?
- 21:44Not right now. If Cuadraro can't do it on a
- 21:47routine basis, you're not going to do it.
- 21:50Yeah, I, I can see that. Let's talk about KTM because
- 21:55Acosta man and Vinales as you, as you mentioned earlier between
- 22:00Alex and and Acosta, like Acosta's looking really good on
- 22:03that. KTM, even though they're
- 22:05struggling towards the end of, of, of the race.
- 22:09You guys think that, you know, we can see the KTM starting to
- 22:13stay closer to the top 6? Yeah, for sure.
- 22:17I think Acosta is looking really strong now, but I mean it again,
- 22:21I, I feel like it, it comes and goes for him in the beginning,
- 22:23it was there in the beginning of the season and then now it's
- 22:25coming back a little bit. But I mean, I it's, it's, it's
- 22:29almost like what would these guys do on a solid bike, right?
- 22:32KTM is coming back, but it's like man, it's the bikes
- 22:35probably hold them back. And I think we're all holding
- 22:38our breath till 2027 where all these manufacturers get that
- 22:41good reset and get some good tires on their bikes, you know,
- 22:44like some Pirellis and, and really see how this this takes
- 22:47off. But yeah, man, Acosta is looking
- 22:49solid. Vinales is looking good.
- 22:51You know, he's staying consistent in that top six top
- 22:537. So I mean they're, they're doing
- 22:56KTM good service right now for sure.
- 22:58I think Mark Marquez said it best in in the press conference.
- 23:03You got to respect all the other riders.
- 23:05Every every last one of them is trying to win.
- 23:07Everyone, every last one was trying to win.
- 23:08But here's the thing about KTM, man, it's like they they are
- 23:12trying so many different things out to reduce those issues had
- 23:15they're having. I wonder if they're ever going
- 23:17to settle down on a certain setup because every track is a
- 23:20different setup. They're always trying and
- 23:22testing new things. Every bike looks different.
- 23:24If you look at the practice videos where they're showing the
- 23:26bike's tail and everything like that, they got different fins
- 23:29and everything. So it's like, man, I, I wonder
- 23:31if they're ever going to settle down and maybe trust one of
- 23:34those two riders between Vinales or Acosta and be like, you know,
- 23:37this guy's going in the right direction.
- 23:39Let's listen to him a little more.
- 23:40I don't know. I think that's what I think.
- 23:42That's what I heard they're saying after the the last couple
- 23:46of rounds. They switched Pedro's setup to
- 23:50Vinales's setup. OK.
- 23:54Which would make sense because Vinales is is the most veteran
- 23:58rider on that team that's also ridden the most equipment of
- 24:01anybody on that team. Like, he's ridden everything on
- 24:05two wheels that Moto GP has to offer except like, even the
- 24:08scooters in the paddock. Like, he's been on Yamaha, he's
- 24:12been on Suzuki, He's been on everything, you know, So at
- 24:16this. Yeah, previous.
- 24:17So at this point, like, he is the guy you should be listening
- 24:20to. And KTM definitely needs to stop
- 24:23throwing so many things at the wall and hoping something
- 24:25sticks. Like, hey, you got Vinales.
- 24:27Yeah, he's a little bit of a head case sometimes, but the
- 24:30dude is fast. The dude's been on fast bikes
- 24:32and he's won on fast bikes. And if anybody you're going to
- 24:35listen to, that's the guy you should, you know, be the guy to
- 24:38listen to. I wouldn't listen to Bender
- 24:40because Bender is going backwards.
- 24:43Bastionini. Is looking good.
- 24:45Bastionini is is is outperforming with Bender this
- 24:48week. So, you know, those two guys can
- 24:51battle it out in the teens, but if there's a guy that's
- 24:54consistently in the top ten, like Vinales, follow that path.
- 24:57Stop throwing so many things at the wall.
- 24:59Try to narrow the focus down. Let's see what happens if we
- 25:03give Vinales a set up to everybody and then work off of
- 25:06that set up to keep developing the bike.
- 25:09Don't try to every weekend come with a new tail section, a new
- 25:13arrow package in the front and you this and you like stop it,
- 25:16man. Like you're you're killing time
- 25:17and your guys are just going around burning tires and gas.
- 25:23Last but not least, Honda. I mean, I was, you know, I was
- 25:31on that Zarco train, man, I was on that Zarco train.
- 25:34And like even he's, you know, back to backgrounds.
- 25:38He's struggling in mayor. It looks like he didn't finish
- 25:42either race. I mean like that, that, that
- 25:45can't feel good. No, definitely not.
- 25:49Man, I'm surprised Chantra finished behind him because he
- 25:53was in front of him at one point in the race or the Sprint.
- 25:55I remember, forget where. But yeah, it's not looking good.
- 26:00I don't know, man. I mean, maybe maybe it's just
- 26:02like they had certain tracks favor them.
- 26:04We've I think we've talked about this, right?
- 26:06Like the speed, the top speed is still a thing, right?
- 26:08So I don't know, man, it's, I think it'll come.
- 26:12Their time is coming. I think a lot of different
- 26:14manufacturers going to have a the great reset.
- 26:16And I keep saying that, but you know, me and a couple buddies
- 26:19this morning, we were even talking about this about we were
- 26:22talking about where is the Ducati going as Ducati going to
- 26:24dominate. We were talking about Honda's
- 26:26going to pull out the money, right?
- 26:27They're going to pull out the money for for for for Martine
- 26:33because Honda has the money, but they're in this position where
- 26:35they don't have to do that right?
- 26:36They're still going to get this reefs reset.
- 26:38They're going to get the tire reset.
- 26:40And at the end of the day, Martin Martin on this, that's a
- 26:42whole another story. By the way, he's lost some
- 26:44stock, he's lost value there. Who knows if you'll even get to
- 26:48get out of that contract, but we'll see because I apparently
- 26:51he didn't meet that clause that that allows him to do that so.
- 26:55Only had one yeah I I can't see how because he only had one
- 26:58race, right you know, but you know, and I can't imagine that
- 27:03Aprilia would would have it just one way I.
- 27:07Don't think so, no. I mean, I did want to keep that
- 27:10rider, but then you got this bad energy that you're going to put
- 27:12him back on the bike. And I mean, the latest thing was
- 27:16he's he's declared unfit again for Saxon Ring.
- 27:18So is he getting fake doctor's notes out here man?
- 27:24Maybe. I, I, you know, I would claim
- 27:27PTSD, man. I mean, I, I think he has some
- 27:30trauma from Ducati not signing him to the factory seat.
- 27:33He's, he's, he's gone crazy, you know, because he's, you know,
- 27:39from the, from us looking at it or from myself looking at it, it
- 27:42looks like he's hurt. He's really hurting himself.
- 27:46No one else? Yeah.
- 27:49Yeah, thoughts on KTM? I mean Honda and, and you know
- 27:52his Martine, you know. Honda is sad because they've
- 27:58they've, they've shown the same thing, glimmers of brilliance
- 28:01here and there. Zarko has shown some glimmers.
- 28:03Even the last round or two, like Near has been a little bit more
- 28:07consistent. I mean, Marini's the only one
- 28:09that is really the most inconsistent.
- 28:12You know, he just can't finish races and then he's been injured
- 28:16and everything else is going on. Like Marini is the one that's
- 28:18most at risk. I know Honda is struggling to
- 28:22find that path that'll work at every track.
- 28:25So maybe this particular track just wasn't a Honda track.
- 28:28You know, it didn't really benefit the strengths of the
- 28:30current model Honda. But we're going to Saxon Ring
- 28:34next. We'll see what happens there.
- 28:37I think Saxon Ring is going to be actually a good track for
- 28:39Yamaha because you don't have a lot of long straightaways.
- 28:42You have a lot of fast sweeping turns.
- 28:45This is where the Yamaha excels. And you know, the the one thing
- 28:49that sets the Yamaha, the Ducati apart is the stability of the
- 28:52breaking of the Ducati always seems to outperform the Yamaha.
- 28:55But again, I think this next track is going to be a Yamaha
- 28:58track and maybe Honda can be at least in the top ten with
- 29:02somebody. I mean this weekend they didn't
- 29:04have anybody in the top 10, which is, you know, sad in the
- 29:08race that Nazi a Honda in the top 10.
- 29:10But at least we still had a good mix.
- 29:11You know, that's like I've always said, I like the mix.
- 29:14I want to see Aprilia, I want to see KTMI, want to see Ducati.
- 29:17And that's what we got this weekend.
- 29:19We got a bunch of different manufacturers all up in the top
- 29:22five, which is great to see. You know, it wasn't a Ducati
- 29:25lockout in the top four or five and.
- 29:27Let's and let's just talk about the overall race and then in in
- 29:31general as you, as you mentioned that because it, you know, it
- 29:34was one of the more competitive races for the top, you know,
- 29:37eight guys. Yeah, I know for sure this, this
- 29:42this past weekend, the top 7-8 guys.
- 29:46I mean, I wanted to be a little bit more competitive, a little
- 29:49bit longer. I think when we got to lap 13 is
- 29:52when all of a sudden, like the train broke apart and 4th and
- 29:575th really drifted further back, and then 6th and then after that
- 30:01it just became like a, you know, a long parade.
- 30:03Managing the gap. Yeah, but for the first, I want
- 30:07to say 8-9 laps. I mean, you had a serious
- 30:10freight train of like 8 or 9 bikes that were all within like
- 30:12a second of each other. And again, it's this track kind
- 30:16of induces that because of the way the tracks laid out.
- 30:20But it also causes a problem because it makes it really
- 30:23difficult to pass. And you saw people making
- 30:25questionable passes in questionable areas.
- 30:28And that's how Alex Marquez ended up in the Kitty litter
- 30:31because that's not a great place to pass.
- 30:33Everybody's battling for this credit card with spot, with
- 30:36bikes that are wider than the credit card.
- 30:38And you're going to get contact. And unfortunately, you know, it
- 30:41looks like what happened is his brake lever got contacted,
- 30:44locked up the front brake, the tire went down.
- 30:48And, you know, we'll see what his injury is going to be.
- 30:50They're saying is that some people are saying it's a pinky,
- 30:52other people are saying it's the palm.
- 30:55Either way, I hope he can get back on board soon because the
- 30:58last thing you want to do is give Mark 2 races to get maybe
- 31:0450 points on you. No.
- 31:06Or more with the Sprint. Right, right, right.
- 31:09I, I saw somewhere where, you know, they're talking about Alex
- 31:15doesn't try to make those kind of passes on Mark compared to
- 31:19other writers. He felt in the in that moment,
- 31:24Alex probably should have, you know, not try to ride around
- 31:28Acosta. Around Acosta, that was that
- 31:31was, that was such a tough section, man.
- 31:33It's like where the track goes, you're leaned left and you're
- 31:36about to flick back right. It's it's kind of like a
- 31:38straightaway, but it's leaning that way right.
- 31:41And there's that little rumble strip that everyone tries to get
- 31:43right real close to going right. And we're all trying to get
- 31:46through that one little credit card patch.
- 31:48Almost like Lewis said of like 4 feet wide.
- 31:50It's really you're trying to fit 2 bikes in that section and and
- 31:53no one wants to let off because the next corner you're breaking
- 31:56into from a straight line right in almost.
- 31:58So everyone wants to get that that section and it was just
- 32:02aggressive. It was almost unfortunate that
- 32:03that happened. Maybe the the brake guard lever
- 32:06wasn't positioned correctly for the lean angle they were at
- 32:08where it touched. Maybe it flicked up, maybe it
- 32:11was loose, who knows. But yeah, it was just a weird,
- 32:15weird crash is what I thought when I saw it.
- 32:17I was like man, I know his front didn't lock up for no reason.
- 32:19I knew it was a brake lever crash but.
- 32:22When I yeah, when I saw, I thought the front wheel came off
- 32:25the ground and and grabbed a brake and locked up and came
- 32:28down and went out. But when they did the replay,
- 32:31it's kind of like from overhead. It's possible that Acosta could
- 32:35have touched the the the brake lever.
- 32:37There's one video from Acosta's onboard camera that is.
- 32:41It is probably the clearest video where you can see that
- 32:45marks Alex's right hand handlebar hit either Acosta's
- 32:52elbow or Acosta's arm and and 'cause that lock like it's it's
- 32:58on board video from the KTM. That's the clearest video where
- 33:01you can see the hand where it makes contact with his arm or
- 33:03something or his elbow. But either way, man, it's it's
- 33:06you know, it sucks because again, this track is super
- 33:09narrow. Alex had the inside line when
- 33:12they were going through the left and he thought that Acosta was
- 33:16going to give up the inside line to the right and Acosta wasn't
- 33:20giving up the inside line to the right.
- 33:22And you know, again, two guys fighting.
- 33:24It's just a racing incident. Two guys fighting for the same
- 33:26real estate and it happens. You know, I don't, I don't, I'm
- 33:29glad that the Stewart's didn't try to penalize Acosta or
- 33:34anything because it again, that's a race incident, man.
- 33:36That, you know, it's, it wasn't AT bone.
- 33:39It wasn't anything like that. It's just two guys battling for
- 33:41that spot. And you don't want to discourage
- 33:43guys from doing that because then it's going to become
- 33:46really, really boring where you can't touch anybody.
- 33:48At that point, I'll just start watching the NBA again.
- 33:51Yeah, Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 33:51Oh. Man, let's not.
- 33:55Let's jump into Moto 2. Diego Marrera, the first
- 34:00Brazilian they're saying, but isn't Frankie sort of half
- 34:04Brazilian, but to to win the Moto 2 race?
- 34:08Pretty impressive. Aaron Connett blames it on a
- 34:13crackle windshield. I don't know if he's any either.
- 34:15You guys saw the replay that the the windshield just cracked on
- 34:18its own on the straightaway and just caused them to lose some
- 34:23tents and caused them to race. I mean, Aaron Connett has, he's
- 34:27missed the second place. Well, I didn't get a chance to
- 34:32catch that race, but I'll let I'll let Lewis go.
- 34:35No, I, it, I know there was some damage to his windshield.
- 34:38I don't know exactly how it happened or when it happened.
- 34:41I did see that there was damage to his windshield.
- 34:43I actually thought it was either debris or something or him
- 34:47getting mad and punching the windshield because he's done
- 34:49that more than a few times. Get a better windshield man.
- 34:55What can I tell you? That's what you got a visor on
- 34:57your helmet for. Tuck in and and do what you
- 34:59gotta do. You don't lose that many tents.
- 35:03That's what he's saying. He's saying that you messed up.
- 35:05I mean, and then, you know, they got their lap timers on board.
- 35:07They can tell the aerodynamics have it just a little bit.
- 35:12But it was a very close race all the way through and I mean
- 35:15connect right led the race for the whole part I I again, I feel
- 35:18bad for that guy because like, you know, if it's the windshield
- 35:22or just getting bullied out the way, you know, and and he was
- 35:26talking trash to Diego from the because of the previous weekend.
- 35:31And so, you know, he takes the L to Diego.
- 35:33So that can't feel good. If you've been talking trash,
- 35:36man, you can't you know, you, you got to you got to be Michael
- 35:39Jordan or keep him up. Shut.
- 35:41Yeah, I I think you should for every time he talks trash and
- 35:44loses, he should remove one tattoo.
- 35:48And I see how how much of A clear skin he gets because he
- 35:50does like to talk a lot of trash, but you know, sometimes
- 35:53he backs it up, but sometimes he doesn't.
- 35:56Yeah. Can I, can I just say this
- 35:58though, on a separate subject, just thinking about all this
- 36:00we've been talking about, I mean, I partly probably due to
- 36:03the podcast too in some ways, but like, I feel like Liberty
- 36:07Media is doing a phenomenal job right now with with Moto GP and
- 36:10just you constantly see record crowds everywhere, right?
- 36:13We're seeing that. And that has to be a result of
- 36:16their marketing genius on Instagram, on social media
- 36:18platform, just pushing certain, you know, we've, we're seeing
- 36:21certain celebrations, certain interviews, certain styles
- 36:24they're introducing to this year that they had never had before
- 36:27they owned it. I feel like it's almost
- 36:29trickling down to Moto America too in some ways.
- 36:31You know, there's getting more interest there to watch that and
- 36:35it's just it's a it's a it's a good thing to have racing almost
- 36:38coming back alive to where now they're breaking records.
- 36:40We were at one point talking about, man, are we going to is
- 36:43racing dying? Are we going to lose viewership?
- 36:46You know, so that's it's just, I just want to say that, man, I
- 36:48was. It's definitely good to see
- 36:49that. I agree over 200,000 people came
- 36:53out for the weekend in which they're pretty impressive.
- 36:56And yeah, Liberty Media Group I think is doing a phenomenal job
- 37:00Their, their stock is just $95 today.
- 37:04So people are liking what they're doing.
- 37:06Formula One, I think there's this past weekend as well, you
- 37:10know, which is, which is pretty dope because you know, from the
- 37:14outside, you know, when, when companies and things get we, you
- 37:17know, we see this, we, we're seeing it now with the Lakers
- 37:19and The Mavericks and their changes that are, that are
- 37:22happening in basketball. Just to talk about basketball a
- 37:24little bit. Sometimes you don't know what,
- 37:25what's going to happen when you owners come in and they and they
- 37:28get the majority and they get to say if they're going to make it
- 37:31as entertaining as possible or is it going to get dry?
- 37:33And, and so far it, it's, it's been pretty wild.
- 37:36So I, I can't wait, you know, can't wait to see what else they
- 37:39do. Oh, for sure.
- 37:42I, I, I think overall, I don't, you know, I don't know if it's a
- 37:46mix of social media, if it's a mix of like some of the, some of
- 37:51the new content that's come out in the last couple of years.
- 37:55You know, if it's, you know, see Marquez kind of revitalize his
- 37:59career after that Amazon Prime show that came on about, you
- 38:03know, what happened to him. I think Liberty Media did the
- 38:05same thing with Formula One. Like, you know, they created a
- 38:09whole new type of content. They put it on on different
- 38:14platforms so that people don't just watch the race.
- 38:17People understand the lives and everything that goes behind the
- 38:20curtain because that's where we have a disconnect in motorcycle
- 38:23racing is somebody will watch motorcycle racing and any
- 38:27racing, but you can't connect to the people inside the helmets.
- 38:32You know, you're not as invested.
- 38:34And if you look at the people that are invested in motorcycle
- 38:36racing, they're either invested in the bikes or they're invested
- 38:39in the riders or they're invested in a combination of
- 38:42both and you. And to get new people into the
- 38:45sport, that's what you have to do.
- 38:46And the only way you can do that is by taking the helmets off
- 38:49these guys and giving them an opportunity to have a voice.
- 38:53And you also have to have the right riders because there's
- 38:55certain riders that you don't want to put a microphone in
- 38:57their face like they they will actually cause you to lose
- 39:01customers. They just are horrible on the
- 39:03mic, don't know what to say. Look up into space.
- 39:07They're guys that end and start every sentence with or so like.
- 39:12And then there's other guys that have media training that are
- 39:14great speakers, that are personalities that have engaging
- 39:18backstories. You know, the Marquez brothers
- 39:20have engaging back story. Mark has an engaging back story
- 39:24coming back from injury. Pekko has an engaging back
- 39:27story. Morbidelli does.
- 39:28There's so much if if you can get that content in front of
- 39:32people, people will watch it. And you know, they have a couple
- 39:35of more documentaries that are coming out.
- 39:37There's a Giacomo Gustini documentary that's being done
- 39:40right now. And again, the more you know the
- 39:43history of the sport and how the sport has evolved and you get it
- 39:46out into mainstream, you put it on Netflix, you put it on
- 39:49Amazon, you put it on these platforms where millions upon
- 39:53millions of people go there looking for content to consume.
- 39:56They're going to come across it and they'll sit back and watch
- 39:59it, and this is how we engage new people.
- 40:02Right, yeah, I I completely agree and looking forward to it.
- 40:08But let's talk a little bit more about Moto 2 and Joe Roberts.
- 40:11Look at signed into another two year deal with the American
- 40:14Racing team with your guys thoughts on that is is he he do
- 40:19you think it's well deserved? I mean he was riding mostly
- 40:22injury injured earlier this year.
- 40:24So he was just really recovering and now he's, you know, he's
- 40:27he's top six guy now. Yeah, I've heard he's doing a
- 40:32little bit better, man. It's good for him to get another
- 40:35two year deal with him. I mean, he's he's when he was
- 40:38injured, he was out for like a good part of the first beginning
- 40:41of the season, right? Yeah.
- 40:43So I mean, it's good that he's able to stay there.
- 40:45And I mean, if he's happy, I don't think he's going to get a
- 40:47shot at GP now at this point in his career, right.
- 40:49So it's good that he got that other two year deal.
- 40:53Nice. What are your thoughts, Lewis?
- 40:55Yeah, I think it's, it's great to still have an American
- 40:59presence in motorcycle racing at the top level, even if it's a
- 41:02Moto 2. And you know, he's definitely,
- 41:05when he's healthy, he and he's got a good team behind him.
- 41:09He's he's shown that he can be competitive.
- 41:11You know, this weekend he ended up top six, top 7, something
- 41:16like that. I know he was in like the top 6
- 41:19the group, him and his teammate, I think they came in like either
- 41:244th, 5th or 5th, 6th, something like that.
- 41:26But that's great. You know, that shows that OK, so
- 41:29that's great. You know, it shows that one
- 41:31they're both on now a competitive bike because they
- 41:34ended up, you know, right on top of each other, 5th and 6th and
- 41:38now he's back in the top five. So that means that he is
- 41:41recovering from his injury as well.
- 41:43And hopefully now he can continue to notch up, notch up
- 41:46and try to start steadily ending up in that top six or seven.
- 41:51Because if you can stay in that top six or seven in Moto 2, even
- 41:55if you stay in Moto 2, like that's great, It's visibility,
- 41:58it gives you a promise of a career there.
- 42:01You're going to keep getting contract renewals.
- 42:03You might get opportunities to move to an even better team at
- 42:06some point. And, and again, I want to see an
- 42:09American in the sport at that level.
- 42:13And he's a talented guy. And, you know, I wish him the
- 42:15best. I hope his he keeps healing up
- 42:17from his injuries and keeps racing the way he did this
- 42:19weekend because we need people like that.
- 42:21We need somebody representing, you know, the Stars and stripes
- 42:25somewhere around the world. Most definitely.
- 42:29And not to see it run away with the likes of Connette and
- 42:32Gonzalez. Gonzalez because those two guys,
- 42:35you know, for, for the, you know, past few, few rounds, they
- 42:38were kind of running out there and and kind of looking like no
- 42:41one was going to be able to keep, keep up with them.
- 42:42But this round a lot of other guys showed up.
- 42:45Dixon showed up. Ramirez Arenas, even though he
- 42:49he finished where he finished, he was looking pretty good in
- 42:51the beginning of that race. So Speaking of another American,
- 42:57Garrett Gerloff, he also inked A2 year deal.
- 43:01So he's staying in the world super bike for another two
- 43:03years. So that's huge.
- 43:04Even though he's the only he's only, he's the only one on a
- 43:07Kawi over there of complete Kawi.
- 43:10Oh really? He's the only one?
- 43:13Say that again. He's the only one.
- 43:14On what? On a.
- 43:14Complete Kawi. Oh, because the other ones are
- 43:18combined. Yamoda Yamoda with Kawi motors.
- 43:23Yeah, yeah. I mean that's, I think he's he's
- 43:25really good fit there. I mean, if anything, maybe he's
- 43:28there a tail end where he comes back to Motor America.
- 43:31I don't think so. But like good for him and
- 43:33another two year deal with them. You know, his his run with BMW
- 43:38was done. So I mean, I think I don't think
- 43:40he's going back there again, right.
- 43:41So good, good, good for him and that's all I could say.
- 43:44Another two year deal locked in. It's good for him.
- 43:48Yeah. Go ahead.
- 43:49Yeah, same here. You know, I good to see an
- 43:51American continue to keep a seat in world Super bike.
- 43:55Hopefully Kawasaki actually put some money into the program next
- 43:59year and and makes the bike a little bit more competitive
- 44:01because it seems like this year like that hasn't been the
- 44:04program. It's kind of just been a wheel
- 44:07out this old shit box and do whatever you can do and and
- 44:11that's it, you know, and it sucks because you can see some
- 44:15of the Bimodas are outperforming the Kawasaki.
- 44:18And I don't think it's just Garrett Gerloff being
- 44:21outperformed. I think it's the bike being
- 44:22outperformed. So Kawasaki definitely needs to
- 44:25do something to help him out and not just give him a bike to go
- 44:28and burn tires and gas with. Yeah, I agree.
- 44:32I mean, if they're if they're trying to win something, because
- 44:35it's we need more manufacturers to, to be in, in these classes
- 44:40between, in between Moto GP, World Super Bike, even Motor
- 44:43America and Kawi's a staple, you know, still love to bike around
- 44:48the world. Yeah, I got a couple in my
- 44:51garage. You got to love him, man.
- 44:55You got to love him. I I don't dislike Cowie.
- 44:58I I dislike Cowie because there was somebody I know that used to
- 45:01love Cowie and I disliked him. So Cowie is just clumped up with
- 45:07that guy. Collider damage.
- 45:09Every time. Liking me now, Louis?
- 45:12I'm just kidding. Oh, no, no, no, no, but yeah,
- 45:21but I, I hope to see Cali make a comeback because, you know, for
- 45:24a long time, I mean, they were the dominant force in world
- 45:26super bike and to see where they are at now, you know, I don't
- 45:31know what the plan is long term for Kawasaki in the sport bike
- 45:34market, but I, you know, I would love to see them do something at
- 45:38some point. Because again, we, it seems like
- 45:40we're losing the interests of the Japanese manufacturers in
- 45:45the high displacement bikes. You know, they keep just
- 45:48Wheeling out the same old bikes year after year and changing the
- 45:50paint jobs. And, you know, fortunately
- 45:53they're going to need to do something.
- 45:54They're going to need to make that that bite that bullet and
- 45:57and do an investment to really try to compete again in that
- 46:01thousand CC range, man, or just stop making bikes then just give
- 46:05it up, give give all the business to Ducati and BMW and
- 46:08and that's it. There you go.
- 46:10They they could have done a partnership with with with
- 46:13Ducati instead. For years.
- 46:15So this, I mean, I don't know if you guys ever heard this, but
- 46:17for years there were rumors where Suzuki and Kawasaki would
- 46:22merge to build to invest in one platform that they would both
- 46:27sell with different bodywork. Kind of like the way that Nissan
- 46:31and Toyota and other manufacturers make the same car
- 46:35but with different bodywork to split the development cost of
- 46:38developing a brand new thousand CC super bike.
- 46:42Yeah, if they were halfway smart.
- 46:45No, if you think when you. Said they're going to put
- 46:47Kawasaki and Suzuki together. I'm like, what are they going to
- 46:49call it, a Kia? No, no, no, it would.
- 46:51Suzuki would still sell it as a Suzuki and Kawi would still sell
- 46:54it as a Kawi, but they would both invest into the development
- 46:58cost of a new motor, a new chassis and everything else.
- 47:02And then the bodywork would change.
- 47:03So the same way that you know, the Infiniti Q50 and the Nissan
- 47:08Maxima are the same car, just with different bodywork and
- 47:11electronics, this bike would be that because that would give the
- 47:15opportunity for these two manufacturers that are I mean,
- 47:18Kawasaki Industries is is huge, but Kawasaki as a motorcycle
- 47:21company is smaller and Suzuki as a motorcycle company is smaller
- 47:25compared to Honda and Yamaha and this isn't.
- 47:28For Yama, I mean, this isn't for Moto GP specifically you're
- 47:30talking. About no, this, this would, this
- 47:32is, I mean this goes back to like the 90s, early 2000s that
- 47:36they would create this investment, that they would both
- 47:39develop the same technology together, split the cost and
- 47:42then both benefit from this new motor, this new package.
- 47:46Because then I could create my Suzuki with my frame, swing arm,
- 47:50forks and everything else. You create your cow with your
- 47:53and then we both use the same motor.
- 47:56And on the on the consumer side, now if you think about it, it's
- 48:00the same motor. So the parts are going to be
- 48:02more readily available, There's going to be more parts.
- 48:04So it does benefit both of them by having a more competitive
- 48:08bike that they, neither one of them has to invest, you know,
- 48:11$30 million into developing an entirely new package.
- 48:16And then that would also at the consumer level, maybe keep even
- 48:18the cost of the bike down because each manufacturer
- 48:21individually didn't invest this much to develop the power plant.
- 48:25They split the cost of developing the power plant.
- 48:28I again, you know, I, I'm always looking at the numbers and if
- 48:32Kawasaki and Suzuki want to be competitive, this is a great way
- 48:36to be competitive and have a competitive motorcycle at a
- 48:39competitive price point that nobody else can touch because
- 48:42you're not both individually investing millions and millions
- 48:45of dollars, you're only investing this much.
- 48:47Yeah. I mean, we've seen that in cars,
- 48:49right? I mean, I used to have an Eagle
- 48:50talent that was ADS. That was a that was a Mitsubishi
- 48:54something, something. Motors.
- 48:56Because it was Chrysler, Mitsubishi and I guess Eagle was
- 48:59a different guy. I don't know what that was.
- 49:01But Toyota Super, right? Wow, AMC Eagle is their own spin
- 49:05off for Chrysler. Well, the the the Toyota Super
- 49:08right now that's a BMWM. What is it, Z7 or Z8?
- 49:15And and you know, Lotus does that what they used to do with
- 49:17the Celica motor, right? They put the Celica motor in
- 49:19their in their car, I think. Yeah, they just did what they do
- 49:21best was which was frames and and the way they built the
- 49:24motor, I mean the the frame itself.
- 49:26Nobody wants to make me the CEO of Kawasaki and Suzuki so I can
- 49:29make this happen, unfortunately. No, I don't know about now, man.
- 49:35Yeah, but I don't know, It could be good.
- 49:38Be good, guys. Well, I don't thank both you
- 49:39guys for coming out, man. It's the Be Forever Cool
- 49:42podcast. My name is Rex 45.
- 49:44Peace. Take care guys.
- 49:46Take. Care.
