- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:29coop. So let's talk about that one
- 0:33phrase that we've all heard multiple times in our life that
- 0:37you can do anything you set your mind to.
- 0:40And boy, do I believe that because I've set myself up for
- 0:43some really interesting things and I've made them happen
- 0:46because I quote, UN quote, set my mind to it.
- 0:48But what does that actually mean?
- 0:49How do you set your mind like a clock.
- 0:51Like how do you walk in and set your mind and.
- 0:54It's really an interesting thing to understand your personal
- 0:57process. So for everybody it's a little
- 0:59different. But in general, if you set your
- 1:01mind to something, it usually comes about when you are putting
- 1:06your intention on something and you know you're going to work
- 1:10your butt off to make it happen. You don't know how, but you know
- 1:14you're going to work your butt off to make it happen.
- 1:16You don't have to know everything.
- 1:18But you do have to know that that intention is something that
- 1:21you are willing to work towards. Talk to people about, put
- 1:24yourself out there and you go for it and you grow with it.
- 1:27You grow into your outcome with it.
- 1:29Now here's the tricky part about this.
- 1:31It's like understanding that all while you're set your mind to
- 1:35something, while you've dialed that in, you also have your
- 1:38limitations that you've always had still with you.
- 1:40It's not like they disappeared. Remember, you can't kick things
- 1:42off the bus, so they're back there.
- 1:44They are. In charge and they're running
- 1:46back there. They might not be the most
- 1:48predominant thoughts you're having, but they are definitely
- 1:50there. So what do you do when you're
- 1:52trying to set your mind to something and set your mind on
- 1:55an outcome and the limitations show up?
- 1:57Well, that comes back to the ability to say, OK, am I going
- 2:02to listen to the limitation or am I going to listen to the
- 2:04intent and the outcome? Am I going to focus on what I
- 2:08think I can't do, or am I going to focus on what I know I can
- 2:11do? Or am I just going to allow the
- 2:13chatter in my head to Take Me Out?
- 2:14Because that's what happens. Chatter takes us out.
- 2:17And in the in the world of mind chatter, it is way more powerful
- 2:23than anyone can ever imagine. Mind chatter to me is one of the
- 2:26most toxic things that humans do to themselves.
- 2:30It if it I would go so far as to say in my experience from years
- 2:35and years and years of coaching, it is the destructive thing.
- 2:39Because we can talk ourselves into anything, because
- 2:41everything makes sense. When you're quiet and you're not
- 2:43challenging it and you're in your own head, it all seems to
- 2:46make perfect sense. All the crazy seems to make
- 2:48perfect sense. And then we don't want to talk
- 2:51to people about it because we feel like, oh, they're going to
- 2:54just argue with me or then I'm they're going to know that I'm
- 2:57weak and we don't bring these things up.
- 3:00So then they take over because they are just being isolated and
- 3:05listen to so they become. Powerful.
- 3:07They grow, they grow, they grow, they grow.
- 3:10And out of their growing, it becomes really frustrating.
- 3:14So the one thing I can tell you for sure is monitoring your
- 3:19mind. Chatter is going to help you
- 3:21stop this process of taking you out and setting that intention.
- 3:27It's powerful. It's necessary putting it down
- 3:30there like you can, you know, make anything happen that you
- 3:33set your mind to. Yes, without question.
- 3:37At the same time, you've got to know what those chatters are,
- 3:40what those limitation thoughts are so that you can counteract
- 3:44them. Because without that you have a
- 3:46constant two step forward and one step back, 2 steps forward
- 3:49and one step back. So it is very useful to do this
- 3:53on a piece of paper. I know this sounds crazy to
- 3:55write them all down, but when you do it, you start to see, OK,
- 3:59well, what are my positive thoughts here about this?
- 4:01What are my negative thoughts about this?
- 4:03If I start putting things on paper, all of a sudden, it does
- 4:06look a little bit more ridiculous when I read some of
- 4:08those things that I think are my limitations.
- 4:10And then I go, yeah, why is that a limitation?
- 4:13That's stupid. I don't want to have that as a
- 4:15limitation. And then I can take it away.
- 4:17I can get rid of it. But I can't do that if I don't
- 4:20expose it. I can't figure it out.
- 4:22Just like I can't eradicate termites if I don't know where
- 4:25they are in the house. The first thing I have to do is
- 4:28go eradicate it. I have to go get rid of it in
- 4:31order to make it work. So fundamentally you have to do
- 4:35the detective work and the paper is really the best thing that
- 4:39you can do, putting it all on paper.
- 4:41Now, I will say this, sometimes this process is not like a quick
- 4:44thing. It's like you've got to do it
- 4:46over the course of a couple of days.
- 4:47That's why I will take paper, I will keep it out, and I will
- 4:50keep adding to the list and adding to the list, because
- 4:53usually a lot comes out in the beginning, but it's not all of
- 4:58it and you have to dig in and figure out what's going on.
- 5:01In the back. What are those real comments in
- 5:04the back of the bus that are taking over?
- 5:05So don't be afraid to sit and work on it that way.
- 5:09Dig, dig, dig, dig, dig. Because you will be way happier
- 5:12if you get it all out all in one shot.
- 5:14So work on that. Be diligent, make the list, and
- 5:18then really tell yourself right those counteractive points to
- 5:23the ones that are negative. Tell yourself no, this isn't
- 5:26true because or. This isn't the right point of
- 5:29view because whatever language you want to put around that, but
- 5:32write a counterpoint to it so that you understand what you
- 5:37want to put in its place 'cause you need to put something in its
- 5:40place. OK, my friends, I hope you have
- 5:43a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:45Bye.
