- 0:04Good morning. This is the Sacramento Brief, your

- 0:20four months after an attempted jewelry store
- 0:22robbery that left a 72 -year -old man dead, Sacramento
- 0:24County Sheriff's detectives say they've made
- 0:26two arrests. The attempted robbery happened back
- 0:29in April at a jewelry store in the 7400 block
- 0:32of Stockton Boulevard. Investigators say a group
- 0:35of suspects arrived in six recently stolen vehicles,
- 0:38including one used to ram the business. But the
- 0:41suspects encountered an armed private security
- 0:43guard and fled the scene. During the attempted
- 0:46robbery, a 72 -year -old man was struck by the
- 0:49vehicle used to ram the store. He suffered life
- 0:51-threatening injuries and died 10 days later.
- 0:54Investigators say automated license plate readers
- 0:57helped them break the case. According to the
- 0:59sheriff's office, information collected by the
- 1:02readers allowed detectives to track the vehicles
- 1:04associated with the suspects and connect evidence.
- 1:08Working with law enforcement agencies throughout
- 1:10the Bay Area, detectives identified 24 -year
- 1:13-old Alfredo Colmenero-Martinez of Oakland as
- 1:16the alleged driver of the vehicle that struck
- 1:18the vehicle. Victim investigators also identified
- 1:2135 year old Jarred Frazier of Stockton as the
- 1:24person they say planned and coordinated the attempted
- 1:26robbery. The Sacramento County district attorney's
- 1:30office issued arrest warrants. And on Wednesday,

- 3:14kids heading back to school, Sacramento County
- 3:16has a reminder for families whose kids get around
- 3:19on e -bikes. First, not every electric two -wheeler
- 3:22is legally an e -bike. California recognizes
- 3:25three classes. Class 1 provides assistance while...
- 3:30You're pedaling and tops out at 20 miles per
- 3:33hour. Class two can use a throttle without pedaling,
- 3:37but it also tops out at 20 miles per hour. Class
- 3:40three assist while pedaling up to 28 miles per
- 3:44hour. But riders must be at least 16. And class
- 3:49three e -bikes are not allowed on Sacramento
- 3:51County Regional. park trails, including the American
- 3:55River and Dry Creek Pathways. Here's an easy
- 3:58rule for parents. If it doesn't have fully operable
- 4:01pedals, it's not an e -bike. Those e -motorcycles
- 4:05you may see look a little more like small dirt
- 4:08bikes, have a different licensing and registration
- 4:12requirements, and are not permitted on parkway
- 4:14trails. For riders who are allowed on the American
- 4:17River Parkway, remember, trail speed limit is
- 4:2115 miles per hour. So even if your bike can go
- 4:24faster, you've got to stop it at 15 miles per
- 4:28hour. Always pass on the left. Give people a
- 4:32verbal warning before passing. Ride single file
- 4:36and pull completely off the pathway when you're
- 4:39stopped. And anyone under 18 is required by California
- 4:44law to wear a properly fitted helmet on public
- 4:47roadways, bikeways. public bicycle paths and
- 4:50trails and events. Finally, it's the weekend.
