Biden DOJ Spied on Susie Wiles & Kash Patel plus a Tale of Two Olympians and Dems No Longer Proud of America · The 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson

• 0:01
Speaker 1: Welcome. It is Verdict with Center. Ted Cruz, Ben Ferguson
• 0:04
Speaker 1: with you as well, and it's so nice to have
• 0:05
Speaker 1: you with us. If you're listening on the radio around
• 0:07
Speaker 1: the country. We've got a lot to talk about in
• 0:10
  Speaker 1: today's show and Center. I tell you what, it's a
• 0:13
Speaker 1: very interesting moment with this new breaking news that apparently
• 0:18
Speaker 1: there was a lot of spying going on on people
• 0:20
Speaker 1: in and around Donald Trump, including the FBI director Cash Paatel.
• 0:25
Speaker 2: Well, just when you think the abuse of power from
• 0:28
Speaker 2: the Joe Biden Department of Justice and FBI could not
• 0:30
Speaker 2: get worse, it gets worse. We now have evidence that
• 0:36
Speaker 2: the Biden FBI spied upon number one Susie Wiles, who
• 0:41
Speaker 2: was then President Trump's campaign manager. Number two Cash Patel,
• 0:44
Speaker 2: who is obviously now the director of the FBI, they
• 0:48
Speaker 2: spied on him when he was a private citizen. We're
• 0:50
Speaker 2: going to break that down. It is part of a
• 0:52
Speaker 2: broader pattern of the Democrats being willing to abuse power,
• 0:57
Speaker 2: do anything humanly possible to stop the Trump from being reelected.
• 1:01
Speaker 2: The good news is they failed. Secondly, we're going to
• 1:04
Speaker 2: talk about a tale of two Olympians. We're going to
• 1:07
Speaker 2: talk about the comparison between Alissa Lou and Eileen Goo,
• 1:13
Speaker 2: and the two are about as far apart as they
• 1:16
Speaker 2: could possibly be. They both competed in the Olympics, they
• 1:20
Speaker 2: competed for different countries, and the media reacted fundamentally differently.
• 1:24
Speaker 2: One is a powerful inspirational story, the other less. So
• 1:29
Speaker 2: we're going to break that down, and then finally we're
• 1:32
Speaker 2: going to talk about what is really concerning. Data that
• 1:36
Speaker 2: Democrats are not proud to be American. Well, we saw
• 1:41
Speaker 2: that on display at the State of the Union, but
• 1:45
Speaker 2: we're also seeing that in polling numbers in a way
• 1:48
Speaker 2: that is really concerning and it points to a broader
• 1:51
Speaker 2: problem in our society. We're going to lay out the
• 1:53
Speaker 2: data and talk about what it means.
• 1:55
Speaker 1: When I also take a moment and talk to you
• 1:56
Speaker 1: about an amazing organization that I want you to know about.
• 1:59
Speaker 1: It's called Passion International, and I need your attention for
• 2:03
Speaker 1: just sixty seconds. Love, generosity, and compassion. We say those
• 2:07
Speaker 1: words all the time, and they sound good, they feel good.
• 2:10
Speaker 1: But here's the truth. Those words don't mean anything unless
• 2:14
Speaker 1: they turn into action, and right now, not later, today,
• 2:19
Speaker 1: not tomorrow. There's a child in the world who doesn't
• 2:22
Speaker 1: know if they'll eat, if they'll have a chance to learn,
• 2:26
Speaker 1: or if there's any hope at all. And while we're
• 2:30
Speaker 1: all busy, life keeps moving forward, but that child is waiting.
• 2:34
Speaker 1: This is where you come in with Compassion International. You
• 2:38
Speaker 1: have the chance to change a child's future, not just
• 2:42
Speaker 1: with words, not with promises, but with real help that
• 2:45
Speaker 1: provides food, education and hope through local churches and people
• 2:51
Speaker 1: already in their community. Put your words into action and
• 2:55
Speaker 1: join me introduce a child to a loving heavenly father
• 2:59
Speaker 1: today at Compassion dot com. That's Compassion dot com. Hey,
• 3:05
Speaker 1: it's Ben Ferguson and I need your attention for just
• 3:08
Speaker 1: sixty seconds. Love, generosity, and compassion. We say those words
• 3:12
Speaker 1: all the time and they sound good, they feel good.
• 3:15
Speaker 1: But here's the truth. Those words don't mean anything unless
• 3:19
Speaker 1: they turn into action, and right now, not later, today,
• 3:24
Speaker 1: not tomorrow. There's a child in the world who doesn't
• 3:27
Speaker 1: know if they'll eat, if they'll have a chance to learn,
• 3:31
Speaker 1: or if there's any hope at all. And while we're
• 3:35
Speaker 1: all busy, life keeps moving forward, but that child is waiting.
• 3:39
Speaker 1: This is where you come in with Compassion International. You
• 3:43
Speaker 1: have the chance to change a child's future not just
• 3:47
Speaker 1: with words, not with promises, but with real help that
• 3:50
Speaker 1: provides food, education, and hope through local churches and people
• 3:56
Speaker 1: already in their community. Put your words into action and
• 4:00
Speaker 1: join me introduce a child to a loving heavenly father
• 4:04
Speaker 1: today at compassion dot com. That's Compassion dot com. All right, Senator,
• 4:11
Speaker 1: So let's get into this first topic. It is a
• 4:13
Speaker 1: wild one. Every time you think that the deep state
• 4:15
Speaker 1: can't get any worse than something like this happens. Allegedly. Now,
• 4:19
Speaker 1: the FBI under Biden was secretly obtaining and I'm quoting now,
• 4:25
Speaker 1: Susie Wilde, that's the chief of staff of the President
• 4:27
Speaker 1: United States America's phone records, including from when she was
• 4:31
Speaker 1: Trump's campaign manager. And they even recorded, apparently a phone
• 4:36
Speaker 1: call she had with her lawyer while her lawyer knew
• 4:39
Speaker 1: the phone call was being recorded, allegedly but she did
• 4:42
Speaker 1: not know it. So you want to talk about attorney
• 4:44
Speaker 1: client privilege. That is shocking as well. Oh and then
• 4:47
Speaker 1: by the way, the FBI director now cash Hotel. Yeah,
• 4:49
Speaker 1: they were also spying on him also at the same time,
• 4:52
Speaker 1: So like why not, right, it's the Joe Biden's FBI,
• 4:55
Speaker 1: it's the corruption there they were spying on everybody in
• 4:57
  Speaker 1: quitting the campaign.
• 5:00
Speaker 2: So we now know that the Biden, FBI, and Dojing
• 5:04
Speaker 2: under Jack Smith, it was engaged in a massive dragnet,
• 5:08
Speaker 2: and it was a dragnet targeted at clearly the nexus
• 5:11
Speaker 2: of all evil, the villains that they were most concerned about,
• 5:13
Speaker 2: and by that I mean Republicans, especially Republicans who supported
• 5:17
Speaker 2: Donald J. Trump. They subpoened the phone records of twenty
• 5:21
Speaker 2: percent of the Republicans in the United States Senate, including yours. Truly,
• 5:24
Speaker 2: they subpeened my phone records, by the way, not just
• 5:27
Speaker 2: my personal phone records. They literally subpoened my office phone records. Now,
• 5:32
Speaker 2: these guys were actually not very competent with respect to me.
• 5:34
Speaker 2: They subpoened the general number in my office that has
• 5:38
Speaker 2: every person who calls in to complain about a pothole,
• 5:41
Speaker 2: to complain about whatever they're angry about. That's what they
• 5:44
Speaker 2: subpoenaed for me. So these guys are, let me just say,
• 5:48
Speaker 2: the Nobel Prize for physics, they're not in the running
• 5:51
Speaker 2: for not in the running. I love that what is
• 5:54
Speaker 2: now released is that they also, in addition to four
• 5:57
Speaker 2: hundred different Republicans turning us different conservative groups. They went
• 6:02
Speaker 2: after Susie Wiles and Cash Pattel. Here's what CBS reported. Quote.
• 6:07
Speaker 2: At least ten f FBI employees who worked for former
• 6:10
Speaker 2: Special counsel Jacksmith's investigation in President Trump's retention of classified
• 6:14
Speaker 2: records after he left the White House in twenty twenty
• 6:16
Speaker 2: one were fired on Wednesday, multiple sources told CBS News.
• 6:22
Speaker 2: The firings came after Reuters reported that the FBI had
• 6:24
Speaker 2: subpoenaed records of phone calls made by FBI Director Cash
• 6:29
Speaker 2: Patel and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles when
• 6:32
Speaker 2: they were both still private citizens, as part of Smith's
• 6:35
Speaker 2: probe into Trump. The Reuter's article quoted Patel, who alleged
• 6:40
Speaker 2: that the FBI had secretly subpoenaed his phone records quote,
• 6:44
Speaker 2: using flimsy pretexts and burying the entire proceeds in prohibited
• 6:48
Speaker 2: case files designed to evade all oversight. The Reuter's article
• 6:54
Speaker 2: added that it had not independently verified any of Patel's claims.
• 6:57
Speaker 2: Patel did not provide any evidence a wrongdoing by the
• 7:00
Speaker 2: staff who are terminated, and you go on to say.
• 7:04
Speaker 2: CBS News confirmed with a source familiar with the matter
• 7:07
Speaker 2: that Wiles's record were reviewed as part of the document's case,
• 7:11
Speaker 2: but was unable to verify whether ptels were in the
• 7:15
Speaker 2: case involving the twenty twenty election, known as Arctic Frost.
• 7:19
Speaker 2: By the way, that that is named after a disease
• 7:21
Speaker 2: that strikes oranges in the state of Florida, like the
• 7:25
Speaker 2: fruit oranges that like. Let's get clear on this. The
• 7:28
Speaker 2: name of the FBI investigation was essentially a pond on
• 7:32
Speaker 2: Orange man Bad. This is a disease that kills oranges
• 7:37
Speaker 2: in Florida. We the FBI, Democrats are using our power.
• 7:41
Speaker 2: Are a disease killing oranges in Florida. I mean that
• 7:43
Speaker 2: They're not subtle if you look at this. What is interesting,
• 7:51
Speaker 2: as you mentioned number one, the reporting is that that
• 7:55
Speaker 2: Susie Wiles was on a phone call with her lawyer yeh,
• 7:59
Speaker 2: and the the FBI intercepted the call. And then the
• 8:02
Speaker 2: claim is that her lawyer knew that the FBI was
• 8:06
Speaker 2: intercepting the call. Now now I've googled this, this evening
• 8:10
Speaker 2: her lawyer at the time, a guy named Hank Cox, claims,
• 8:13
  Speaker 2: I didn't know. I don't know what they're talking about.
• 8:15
Speaker 2: I've never I've never known of any client of mine
• 8:18
Speaker 2: being intercepted and taped while I was talking to them.
• 8:22
Speaker 2: I got to say my reaction. And you know you
• 8:24
Speaker 2: read a minute ago that story. It may not have
• 8:27
Speaker 2: horrified you at the same level it did me. As
• 8:31
Speaker 2: a lawyer. The idea if I'm your lawyer, and by
• 8:34
Speaker 2: the way, if i'm your lawyer, I mean, good god,
• 8:36
Speaker 2: there's a lot of criminal conduct I could be representing
• 8:38
Speaker 2: you for so a host of of Listen.
• 8:43
Speaker 1: What you for a dollar one time? That's the retainer,
• 8:45
Speaker 1: is how I look at it.
• 8:46
Speaker 2: But the idea for any lawyer that you would know
• 8:50
Speaker 2: law enforcement was taping your conversation with your client. You
• 8:53
Speaker 2: would be disparked, You would lose your license, like.
• 8:57
Speaker 1: You would lose your license if you did that. Correct,
• 9:00
  Speaker 1: you're a part of that.
• 9:00
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 9:01
Speaker 2: So before we started recording this, I literally jumped on
• 9:04
Speaker 2: my phone. I'm like, wait a second. As a lawyer,
• 9:06
Speaker 2: you can't do that. That means you don't get to
• 9:09
Speaker 2: be a lawyer ever. Again, I was gratified in a sense.
• 9:12
Speaker 2: I don't know this particular fellow, Hank Cox, but he
• 9:14
Speaker 2: at least is saying this is a lie. I didn't
• 9:17
Speaker 2: sign off. I don't know what the facts are, but
• 9:19
Speaker 2: I hope we drilled down and find the facts. Regardless
• 9:23
Speaker 2: Jack Smith and the Biden DOJ there were no bounds
• 9:27
Speaker 2: of propriety other than get Trump Orange Man bad at
• 9:31
  Speaker 2: any cost.
• 9:32
Speaker 1: I want to go to the politics of this for
• 9:34
Speaker 1: a second. What I find very interesting center about this
• 9:39
Speaker 1: story is the timeline of when they were doing this.
• 9:43
Speaker 1: If you are spying on and listening in on Susie Wilds,
• 9:46
Speaker 1: for example, she was in many ways the de facto
• 9:50
Speaker 1: campaign manager for Donald Trump. Early on, she was going
• 9:53
Speaker 1: to be involved in the campaign in every decision. There
• 9:55
Speaker 1: was a lot of people wondering if Trump was going
• 9:57
Speaker 1: to run or not. This covers that time, and if
• 9:59
Speaker 1: you're listening those phone calls, you're listening in that, I
• 10:02
Speaker 1: would assume to everything that deals with the campaign or
• 10:05
Speaker 1: campaign strategy. You can see who she's talking to, who
• 10:07
Speaker 1: they may be calling, prospective donors, people they may want
• 10:11
Speaker 1: to get on their staff on the campaign. Like that
• 10:13
Speaker 1: is that is interference in election in my opinion, because
• 10:17
Speaker 1: you're spying on your political opponent. By the way they've
• 10:18
Speaker 1: done it before, we know that they were spying on
• 10:20
Speaker 1: Trump's campaign in twenty sixteen as well, So I guess
• 10:23
Speaker 1: it's like, why not do it? And then you're spying
• 10:26
Speaker 1: on cash Betel as well, why would you do that?
• 10:28
Speaker 1: He was also going to be involved in the campaign,
• 10:31
Speaker 1: and heavily involved. So those two things right there are
• 10:33
Speaker 1: the timeline. That's the part I think is so egregious here.
• 10:36
Speaker 1: It's like, hey, all right, who are going to be
• 10:38
Speaker 1: up against Well, let's just listen in and see what
• 10:40
Speaker 1: their campaign strategy is.
• 10:42
Speaker 2: Well, Ben, as you know, the third book I wrote
• 10:46
Speaker 2: was called Justice Corrupted, How the Left has weaponized the
• 10:49
Speaker 2: legal system and trace the history of it. It started
• 10:52
Speaker 2: with Richard Nixon. I'm not a fan of Richard Dixon.
• 10:56
Speaker 2: I think the man was a total and complete crook. Now,
• 10:58
Speaker 2: I also think the deep conspired against him. And yet,
• 11:03
Speaker 2: even as bad as it was, there was a limit
• 11:06
Speaker 2: to how much they went after him. And in fact,
• 11:08
Speaker 2: a number of people in the deep state resisted Nixon's
• 11:12
Speaker 2: efforts to weaponize government against his political opponents. What Richard
• 11:17
Speaker 2: Nixon tried to do, Barack Obama succeeded in doing. And
• 11:23
Speaker 2: much of this cancer in the government started with Barack Obama,
• 11:27
Speaker 2: who turned the machinery of the federal government into a
• 11:30
Speaker 2: weapon to attack his political opponents. He spent eight years
• 11:34
Speaker 2: doing that. The IRS was weaponized, the FBI was weaponized,
• 11:37
Speaker 2: the DOJ was weaponized, the alphabet soup, every federal agency
• 11:41
Speaker 2: was weaponized to go after Obama's political opponents. Then, to
• 11:45
Speaker 2: the shock of all of them, Donald Trump gets elected
• 11:49
Speaker 2: in twenty sixteen. Now we know that the Obama DOJ
• 11:53
Speaker 2: was spying on Donald Trump the first time he ran.
• 11:56
  Speaker 2: And when he.
• 11:57
Speaker 1: Came into ARNI said that everybody said he was crazy lying.
• 12:00
Speaker 2: Remember the media laughed at him. It was totally right.
• 12:03
Speaker 1: Yeah, he's deranged that never it didn't happen. He was
• 12:06
Speaker 1: inspired on. He has no information to back this up.
• 12:08
Speaker 1: And then sure if it became fact, none of them
• 12:10
  Speaker 1: corrected their stories.
• 12:11
Speaker 2: Of course, and when he came into office. A significant
• 12:16
Speaker 2: mistake President Trump made in the first term as he
• 12:18
Speaker 2: kept James Comy on as the head of the FBI.
• 12:21
Speaker 2: That was a catastrophic mistake and one that he certainly
• 12:25
Speaker 2: grew to regret as time went on. I think the
• 12:29
Speaker 2: first Trump White House believed they could get Komy on
• 12:32
Speaker 2: the reservation, get him actually focused on doing his job
• 12:35
Speaker 2: as head of the FBI, rather than just being a
• 12:37
Speaker 2: partisan Democrat. Attacking them. That was mistaken. And from the
• 12:43
Speaker 2: earliest days of the Trump administration, look Michael Flynn when
• 12:48
Speaker 2: he was named the incoming National Security Advisor, James Combing,
• 12:51
Speaker 2: the FBI were already going after him, trying to destroy him.
• 12:55
Speaker 2: They tried to destroy for four years, the deep state
• 12:59
Speaker 2: tried to destroy the Donald Trump. They almost did. Look Russia, Russia,
• 13:03
Speaker 2: Russia the entire and it was a lie. It was
• 13:07
Speaker 2: literally concocted by Hillary Clinton's research opposition and and and
• 13:12
Speaker 2: and to be clear, it would have worked. It reminds
• 13:17
Speaker 2: me of like the old Scooby Doo when the villain
• 13:19
Speaker 2: has the mass pulled off off his face and said, uh,
• 13:22
Speaker 2: you know, I would have succeeded if not for you
• 13:25
Speaker 2: meddling kids like that is the Obama and Biden d O.
• 13:32
Speaker 1: J and And to be clear, to put this in context,
• 13:36
Speaker 1: the still dossier, the FBI said, we'll give you a
• 13:39
  Speaker 1: million bucks if.
• 13:40
Speaker 2: You by the way, that that that's some good French.
• 13:42
Speaker 2: Can you say that word dossier again? I like that
• 13:46
Speaker 2: you fling your hand in the Okay, you're pinky when
• 13:51
Speaker 2: you say dossier. I wantsier.
• 13:57
Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, it's still dossier. They described Okay, they said, look.
• 14:01
Speaker 2: You're an honorary in Mississippi. Boy, that's dossier.
• 14:04
Speaker 1: Yeah now right there. That then they're no, here was doser.
• 14:09
Speaker 1: So they went to Michael Steele and they said, if
• 14:11
Speaker 1: you can corroborate any of this, we'll give you a
• 14:13
Speaker 1: million bucks. He couldn't do it, the guy who authored it.
• 14:16
Speaker 1: They then classified it at the FBI as user generated,
• 14:21
Speaker 1: meaning it's fictitious. This is not real. They brought this
• 14:25
Speaker 1: to us, it's user generated, meaning they created it out
• 14:27
Speaker 1: of thin air. And they still went forward with using
• 14:31
Speaker 1: it as the basis to go after Donald Trump. The
• 14:34
Speaker 1: FBI knew it was a lie. They even said and
• 14:37
Speaker 1: categorized it as a lie.
• 14:39
Speaker 2: Look, twenty five years ago, I was in the Department
• 14:42
Speaker 2: of Justice, right at the beginning of the George W.
• 14:44
Speaker 2: Bush administration. I was an Associate Deputy Attorney General. By
• 14:48
Speaker 2: the way, government is weird. Yes, I had that many
• 14:50
Speaker 2: modifiers in my title. Associate Deputy Attorney general.
• 14:53
Speaker 1: Kind of a big deal, that's what he should have
• 14:55
Speaker 1: said under your name plate. No kind of a big deal.
• 14:58
Speaker 2: Actually, the more accurate thing is kind of a medium
• 15:00
Speaker 2: sized deal. That would that would nothing? Not nothing? I
• 15:06
Speaker 2: mean I was not like a summer intern at the time,
• 15:09
Speaker 2: but but not particularly about deal.
• 15:11
Speaker 1: Keep going, I'm ready.
• 15:12
Speaker 2: But when I was a DOJ, the idea that the
• 15:17
Speaker 2: department would spy on the political opponents of the administration.
• 15:21
Speaker 2: Like if someone had come in and said, Okay, Bush, DOJ,
• 15:25
Speaker 2: let's spy on Bill Clinton, Let's spy on Hillary Hillary Clinton,
• 15:30
Speaker 2: let's spy on the sky. Barack Obama, let's spy on
• 15:33
Speaker 2: Joe Biden. Let's spy on Chuck Schumer. Look, there are
• 15:35
Speaker 2: a lot of Democrats. It would have first of all,
• 15:39
Speaker 2: been laughed out of the room. You'd been like, no, okay,
• 15:42
Speaker 2: that's not what we do. At at a minimum, let's
• 15:45
Speaker 2: suppose you had really serious evidence. You you had evidence
• 15:49
Speaker 2: of of say, some Democrat I don't know, cutting a
• 15:53
Speaker 2: deal and sending one point seven billion dollars in cash
• 15:56
Speaker 2: and on Mark Palletts to Iran in exchange for a
• 16:00
Speaker 2: political deal. By the way, that actually happened. Barack Obama
• 16:02
Speaker 2: did that. Yeah, even then, you wouldn't spy on Obama.
• 16:05
Speaker 2: But if you had horrible evidence, the checks and balances
• 16:10
Speaker 2: in the Department of Justice to doing that would have
• 16:12
Speaker 2: been enormous. The entire system would have said, okay, we
• 16:16
Speaker 2: want to hire threshold. We want to be certain that
• 16:18
Speaker 2: this is not abuse of power. And what is amazing
• 16:22
Speaker 2: is during the Biden DOJ there were no checks. Spy
• 16:25
Speaker 2: on twenty percent of the Republicans in the Senate. Good
• 16:28
Speaker 2: bye me, spy on Trump's campaign manager, good by me,
• 16:31
Speaker 2: spy on cash Betel, good bye me. They were drunk
• 16:34
Speaker 2: with power, and the rule of law was utterly and
• 16:37
  Speaker 2: completely forgotten.
• 16:39
Speaker 1: Israel is a very hot topic right now, and with
• 16:42
Speaker 1: so many opinions and emotions surrounding it, it can feel
• 16:45
Speaker 1: hard to know where to start. The Bible tells us
• 16:48
Speaker 1: I will bless those who bless you. That isn't just
• 16:52
Speaker 1: a comforting promise, it's a clear calling from God, and today,
• 16:56
Speaker 1: with anti Semitism rising around the world, that calling is
• 16:59
Speaker 1: more urgent than ever. At a time when Jewish communities
• 17:02
Speaker 1: are experiencing more hostility, more threats, and more violence than ever,
• 17:07
Speaker 1: Christians have a powerful opportunity to respond with God's love
• 17:10
Speaker 1: to say you are not alone. When Christians choose to
• 17:15
Speaker 1: bless Israel, we're not entering a political issue. We're honoring
• 17:18
Speaker 1: the root of our faith and standing against hatred, supporting
• 17:22
Speaker 1: Israel is more than a belief, it's a biblical mandate.
• 17:26
Speaker 1: And by partnering with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews,
• 17:30
Speaker 1: you can push back against darkness and be a light
• 17:33
Speaker 1: to God's people. Learn how you can bless Israel and
• 17:36
Speaker 1: be blessed in return. Visit IFCJ dot org today. That's
• 17:41
Speaker 1: IFCJ dot org today. Be a blessing, live in the world.
• 17:45
Speaker 1: Answer the call. All right, Senata, let's talk about the Olympics.
• 17:49
Speaker 1: There were so many cool stories out of the Olympics.
• 17:52
Speaker 1: Obviously celebrating hockey that kind of took everything over when
• 17:56
Speaker 1: that happened, But there was some other really incredible and
• 17:59
Speaker 1: important stories in these Olympics. And one of them that
• 18:04
Speaker 1: just is something we got to talk about is involved
• 18:07
Speaker 1: not only China, but also America's gold medalists who won
• 18:12
Speaker 1: in figure skating. It's an amazing story.
• 18:15
Speaker 2: Well, look, we obviously have the incredible victory of winning
• 18:19
Speaker 2: the gold in both men's hockey and women's hockey, and
• 18:23
Speaker 2: I got to say that moment was extraordinary. At the
• 18:25
Speaker 2: State of the Union, it was wonderful to see the
• 18:28
Speaker 2: men's gold winning Olympic hockey team there, the pride they
• 18:33
Speaker 2: had for America was fabulous. But there's also a story
• 18:36
Speaker 2: that got some coverage. But I think it's worth going
• 18:38
Speaker 2: back and focusing because it was a powerful contrast and
• 18:41
Speaker 2: it was a contrast between two Olympians. It was a
• 18:43
Speaker 2: contrast between Alyssa Lou and Eileen Goo. Now both are
• 18:48
Speaker 2: women of Chinese heritage. One Alyssa, competed for the United States,
• 18:55
Speaker 2: the other, Eileen, competed for China. Let's start with Alyssa
• 18:59
Speaker 2: because Melissa's story is extraordinary, and I want to read
• 19:02
Speaker 2: from a tweet from a fellow name Afshine m Ronnie.
• 19:07
Speaker 2: I don't know who this person is, but I thought
• 19:09
Speaker 2: the way he wrote it was very effective. Here's what
• 19:11
Speaker 2: he said, the ultimate American revenge story. The script couldn't
• 19:16
Speaker 2: have been have written it better. In nineteen eighty nine,
• 19:20
Speaker 2: Arthur Liu fled China as a political refugee after the
• 19:24
Speaker 2: Tienamen Square massacre. He came to America with nothing but
• 19:29
Speaker 2: a dream for a free life. Decades later, his daughter,
• 19:32
Speaker 2: Alyssa Lou became the face of Team USA, but the
• 19:36
Speaker 2: CCP didn't forget. Before the twenty twenty Beijing Olympics, the
• 19:41
Speaker 2: FBI uncovered a brazen spying operation. The target Alissa and
• 19:47
Speaker 2: her father. The Chinese government tried to stalk them on
• 19:51
Speaker 2: us soil, intimidate her into silence, pressure her to turn
• 19:56
Speaker 2: her back on the country that gave her family refuge.
• 20:00
Speaker 2: The FBI had to give them twenty four to seven
• 20:03
Speaker 2: security just so she could compete. She faced intimidation, she
• 20:11
Speaker 2: refused to be upawn, She walked away from the sport
• 20:15
Speaker 2: for two years to find her soul again, and then
• 20:19
Speaker 2: she came back with a vengeance. Today the story is complete.
• 20:25
Speaker 2: In a flawless performance to Donna Summers MacArthur Park, Alyssa
• 20:29
Speaker 2: Loud just did the impossible Olympic gold, the first American
• 20:36
Speaker 2: woman to win individual gold in twenty four years. She
• 20:41
Speaker 2: didn't just skate for a medal, She skated for the
• 20:45
Speaker 2: freedom her father risked everything for. She didn't just win
• 20:50
Speaker 2: for herself, She won for the flag that protected her
• 20:55
Speaker 2: family when the world felt small. That's what a patriot
• 20:59
Speaker 2: looked like. Now, I got to say, I want to
• 21:01
Speaker 2: give listeners some background into this show. The way you
• 21:06
Speaker 2: and I record this pod. As we sit down right
• 21:08
Speaker 2: before recording it, and we go through all the stories
• 21:11
Speaker 2: that are in the news. We Sara, what do we
• 21:13
Speaker 2: want to talk about? And by the way, the pod
• 21:14
Speaker 2: is not scripted like you and I don't know what
• 21:16
Speaker 2: we're going to say. We just sort of talk about topics.
• 21:19
Speaker 2: We pick a couple of topics and riff on it
• 21:21
Speaker 2: and I want everyone to know. Ben is like, no, no, no,
• 21:25
Speaker 2: I don't want to cover this story. Ben said, I
• 21:27
Speaker 2: hate Americans, I hate Olympians. Yeah, I can't.
• 21:30
Speaker 1: Skate, and true, I'm a very good skater.
• 21:34
  Speaker 2: And I'm secretly a communist.
• 21:36
Speaker 1: Okay there were Okay, yeah, I got it. Okay, I
• 21:38
Speaker 1: see where we're going here.
• 21:39
Speaker 2: Now are you a good skater? I suck at skating.
• 21:42
  Speaker 2: I'm a horrible skater.
• 21:43
Speaker 1: So my dad's you know, from up north, and that
• 21:46
Speaker 1: was like one thing. It would take us skating his
• 21:48
Speaker 1: kids and then we would skate on the ponds. We
• 21:50
Speaker 1: went to North Dakota. So, yeah, I've been skating a
• 21:52
  Speaker 1: long time.
• 21:53
Speaker 2: I'm an unbelievably bad skater. I basically wobble around the
• 21:57
Speaker 2: skate rink and hold onto the walls the whole time.
• 21:59
Speaker 2: It's terror like four year olds come skating past me
• 22:03
Speaker 2: and or like get out of the way, like you
• 22:05
Speaker 2: you you terrible thing I can.
• 22:07
Speaker 1: I can picture this, and I believe you completely that
• 22:10
Speaker 1: you're not over selling that point at all.
• 22:12
Speaker 2: I'm not. But let's just say for the record, I
• 22:14
Speaker 2: can kick your ascid basketball. And to be clear, I've
• 22:18
Speaker 2: broken your finger playing basketball.
• 22:20
Speaker 1: That is true. The kime the a part. At some
• 22:23
Speaker 1: point we might need a one on one game, just
• 22:24
Speaker 1: so the audience shows the score.
• 22:25
Speaker 2: Here, I've just said, all right, look, look you've got
• 22:29
Speaker 2: mass and strength. But but I'm just I'm just saying
• 22:32
Speaker 2: you can't shoot to save your life.
• 22:34
  Speaker 4: All right?
• 22:35
Speaker 2: Why did I want to cover this story? Look, some
• 22:38
Speaker 2: of it is as the child of a refugee from Cuba.
• 22:42
Speaker 2: I find Alyssa Lou's story inspirational. I find it now
• 22:46
Speaker 2: you identify with It's incredible and and and listen, there's
• 22:49
Speaker 2: a contrast with her and Eileen Goo. Now now I
• 22:52
Speaker 2: want to say something. So Eileen Goo is also Chinese heritage.
• 22:56
  Speaker 2: She's a student at Stanford. Alyssa's a figure skater. She
• 23:00
Speaker 2: on the gold Eileen who is a downhill skier. She
• 23:03
Speaker 2: won two silvers. Both were offered the opportunity from China
• 23:08
Speaker 2: that the Chinese Communist government said, we will give you
• 23:12
Speaker 2: millions of dollars to compete.
• 23:14
Speaker 1: For China, literally millions. You're not joking, like some report's
• 23:17
Speaker 1: been upwards of six million plus.
• 23:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, like massive amounts of money. And Eileen said yes,
• 23:24
Speaker 2: and Alyssa said no. Now, I got to say, in
• 23:27
Speaker 2: the conservative media, there's been a world of hate pounded
• 23:32
Speaker 2: and dumped on Eileen. I'm not in that camp. Look,
• 23:35
  Speaker 2: she's a like twenty year old college kid. I don't
• 23:39
Speaker 2: have any hate or animosity to her. I understand. I mean, look,
• 23:42
Speaker 2: if I were in college, no one there been reports
• 23:45
Speaker 2: she received like fourteen million dollars. No one ever offered
• 23:49
Speaker 2: me fourteen million dollars in college. I understand that. And
• 23:53
Speaker 2: there is something of a tradition in the Olympics. You
• 23:56
Speaker 2: think about the NBA where you have all these stars,
• 24:00
Speaker 2: you know, Victor Wemba Yamu in the NBA competes for France,
• 24:05
Speaker 2: Alpa and Shengoon competes for Turkey. They have lots of
• 24:09
Speaker 2: people who are from other countries. They compete for other
• 24:11
Speaker 2: countries and no one is horrified and they're not like
• 24:14
  Speaker 2: you're a horrible human being.
• 24:17
Speaker 1: But let me say here's the difference.
• 24:19
Speaker 2: It's different. It is different, But go ahead.
• 24:20
Speaker 1: It's the reason why this one's different is when you
• 24:23
Speaker 1: grow up in America and you do everything in America
• 24:27
Speaker 1: and you're part of this country and this country supports you,
• 24:30
Speaker 1: and then because someone throws money at you, you defect
• 24:34
Speaker 1: to communists China. That's the difference between if you come
• 24:38
Speaker 1: into the league from another country and you play in
• 24:41
Speaker 1: the NBA and then you go back to Like when
• 24:43
Speaker 1: I played tennis, a lot of the guys from smaller
• 24:45
Speaker 1: countries would go back and play Davis Cup or the
• 24:47
Speaker 1: Olympics for their team. It was awesome, Like there was
• 24:49
Speaker 1: teammates of mine that made their Olympic team. There was
• 24:51
Speaker 1: from you know, Kazakhstan or smaller nations and they were
• 24:54
Speaker 1: the best in their country. That's not defecting from America, right,
• 24:58
Speaker 1: But when you're in America and your American and then
• 25:00
Speaker 1: you're like, all right, I'm literally defecting and gonna go
• 25:02
Speaker 1: do this for China and it's solely for a big payday.
• 25:07
Speaker 1: It was from an athlete standpoint, I get the money.
• 25:10
Speaker 1: But it is different than if you're in the NBA
• 25:13
Speaker 1: and you're from France, like Martin Gasol and Paegasol, and
• 25:15
Speaker 1: they go and play against the USA in that game, like,
• 25:17
Speaker 1: I have no qualms about that. That's where you were raised.
• 25:20
Speaker 2: To be clear, the Gasols are from Spain, not France.
• 25:23
Speaker 2: Different wherever it is. But we Latins don't like when
• 25:26
Speaker 2: you call us French like that. That is getting it wrong.
• 25:30
Speaker 1: You the power and mark there you go, Okay.
• 25:33
Speaker 2: You're right that it's different. You know, Victor wemen Yama's French.
• 25:36
Speaker 2: You grew up in France, like his whole background is that.
• 25:39
Speaker 2: So it is different when you go and play for
• 25:41
Speaker 2: the country you were born and grew up in. Both
• 25:44
Speaker 2: Alyssa and Eileen were born in and grew up in America,
• 25:48
Speaker 2: so that is different. That being said that, there was
• 25:53
Speaker 2: some real vitriol directed at Eileen, and listen, she's a
• 25:57
Speaker 2: twenty year old Olympic athlete. I don't have anger towards her.
• 26:02
Speaker 2: But my view is simple. If you decide I want
• 26:06
Speaker 2: to compete for China, I want to win the gold
• 26:09
Speaker 2: medal for China, you can do that, but you know
• 26:13
Speaker 2: what you're saying, I want one point three billion people
• 26:16
Speaker 2: in China to root for me, and I want to
• 26:19
Speaker 2: beat the United States of America. Well, you know what,
• 26:22
Speaker 2: I'm not going to root for you. I'm going to
• 26:25
Speaker 2: root for the for the athletes that say I'm competing
• 26:28
Speaker 2: for America, I'm not. I thought people were a little
• 26:32
Speaker 2: bit overwrought in condemning Aileenu. I don't know her at all,
• 26:36
  Speaker 2: and she's a talented athlete and she's, you know, a
• 26:38
Speaker 2: twenty year old kid. But she made the decision she
• 26:43
Speaker 2: wants the Chinese to root for and she does not
• 26:45
Speaker 2: want America to root for. It. To be clear, when
• 26:47
Speaker 2: she made that decision, she's saying, I want the United
• 26:50
Speaker 2: States of America to lose. Yeah, that's a decision I
• 26:54
Speaker 2: disagree with. And the contrast with Alyssa Lu, she was
• 26:59
  Speaker 2: offered millions.
• 27:01
Speaker 1: Senator, I also think this really cool part of the
• 27:04
Speaker 1: story is Alisilu's father. We mentioned that earlier, but like,
• 27:07
Speaker 1: this is a guy that sacrificed everything, had to flee
• 27:13
Speaker 1: the country, comes to America. He is literally being attacked
• 27:17
Speaker 1: and still being hunted by the Chinese government to the
• 27:20
Speaker 1: point where the FBI is coming after him, and on
• 27:23
Speaker 1: top of that, stays focus to make his daughter an
• 27:26
Speaker 1: Olympic gold medalist while having to look over his shoulder,
• 27:30
Speaker 1: to the point where the FBI had to give them protection.
• 27:32
Speaker 1: That's the best part of the story as well, Like
• 27:34
Speaker 1: they love this country. They didn't take the money. By
• 27:36
Speaker 1: the way they took the money, I'm assuming they wouldn't
• 27:38
  Speaker 1: need protection anymore.
• 27:39
Speaker 2: Right, Look, he was incredibly driven. He raised his daughter.
• 27:43
Speaker 2: She was extraordinary. And I will say one aspect of
• 27:46
Speaker 2: this story that I really like. According to the Internet,
• 27:49
Speaker 2: according to Twitter, apparently Alissa lou is politically liberal and
• 27:54
Speaker 2: so leftists are like you, conservatives can't cheer her on
• 27:57
Speaker 2: because she is allegedly woke. I don't know she's political
• 28:00
Speaker 2: liberal or not, but you know what, I don't care care.
• 28:03
Speaker 2: She competed for America. When she was standing there, she
• 28:05
Speaker 2: had the American flag around her shoulder. She's cheering up
• 28:08
Speaker 2: as as the star spangled banner. She's cheering for America,
• 28:12
  Speaker 2: and I'm cheering for her. And I don't give a
• 28:14
Speaker 2: damn if she votes for Barack Obama or Joe Biden.
• 28:17
Speaker 2: She's an American and I'm proud to cheer her on.
• 28:21
Speaker 1: So now I want to go back to the dad.
• 28:23
Speaker 1: Listen's father. He did an interview recently and it was
• 28:27
Speaker 1: just a little bit about the story of the political
• 28:29
Speaker 1: pressure that he was under. From China that they were
• 28:31
Speaker 1: under from China, and just to be able to get
• 28:34
Speaker 1: through this much pressure and still pursue the dreams of
• 28:38
Speaker 1: your daughter is amazing. Take a listen, CLEA.
• 28:41
Speaker 3: Head of the twenty twenty two Winter Alise in Beijing,
• 28:44
Speaker 3: the Justice Department in FBI said that China actually sent
• 28:47
Speaker 3: individuals to track and target you and your family, including
• 28:52
Speaker 3: her ahead of the Olympics. Talk to us about what that.
• 28:55
Speaker 3: What was Beijing's motivation? Were you afraid for her?
• 29:00
  Speaker 2: Well?
• 29:01
Speaker 4: Because of my background, because I was wanted by the
• 29:05
Speaker 4: Chinese government back in nineteen eighty nine, and after I
• 29:09
Speaker 4: came to America, I also continued to organize protests in
• 29:15
Speaker 4: front of the Chinese Counselate in San Francisco, some protests
• 29:20
Speaker 4: and hunger strikes in front of the Chinese embassy in Washington, DC.
• 29:26
Speaker 4: The Chinese government never let me go and continue to
• 29:33
Speaker 4: aspire me. And before the Winter Olympic Games in twenty
• 29:38
Speaker 4: twenty two, I was, you know, I got a phone
• 29:43
Speaker 4: call from somebody who claimed to be from the US
• 29:46
Speaker 4: Olympic Committee and wanted copies of my passport and Alisa's passport,
• 29:53
Speaker 4: And then the FBI informed me that the Chinese government
• 29:58
Speaker 4: is flying spying on me. And of course I was
• 30:03
Speaker 4: concerned about a Lisa going to China to compete.
• 30:09
Speaker 1: You listened to him talking about the concerns. Yeah, I'd
• 30:11
Speaker 1: have a lot of concerns the father as well.
• 30:13
Speaker 2: Of course, and and listen that this man loves his daughter.
• 30:17
Speaker 2: And I got to say Alissa's Olympic gold performance it
• 30:20
Speaker 2: was beautiful. I'm not particularly into figure skating. I got
• 30:23
Speaker 2: to say, she did a gorgeous, uh performance. It was
• 30:29
Speaker 2: there was a sense of joy and abandon and watching
• 30:33
Speaker 2: it that that that was really fabulous and and it
• 30:37
Speaker 2: and it made you, It made you really happy for her.
• 30:40
Speaker 2: It made you cheer her on. There's there's a great image.
• 30:43
Speaker 2: I love a photo taken from above as she's like
• 30:46
Speaker 2: spinning and looking up and that there's a level of
• 30:49
Speaker 2: just reckless abandon and it's not reckless about it. It's
• 30:51
Speaker 2: actually incredibly controlled, joyful skill.
• 30:57
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 30:57
Speaker 2: But but look, it made you proud of America. And
• 31:00
Speaker 2: I got to say, you would think everyone to be
• 31:02
Speaker 2: proud of America watching that. But what is amazing. So
• 31:06
Speaker 2: there was recent polling numbers that came out from Gallup
• 31:09
Speaker 2: that are highly concerning that showed that that not everyone
• 31:13
Speaker 2: is proud of America anymore. And if you look at
• 31:16
Speaker 2: just the generic question, US adults pride in being American
• 31:22
Speaker 2: twenty one to twenty twenty five. So in two thousand
• 31:26
Speaker 2: and one, eighty seven percent said they were extremely very proud.
• 31:33
Speaker 2: By twenty twenty five that had dropped to fifty eight percent.
• 31:36
Speaker 2: Eighty seven to fifty eight. That's a massive decrease. And
• 31:38
Speaker 2: you might say, well, I don't know what's driving that,
• 31:41
Speaker 2: But actually the second chart is even more concerning because
• 31:46
Speaker 2: it's not just everyone's losing faith in America. It's not
• 31:49
Speaker 2: just that everyone is no longer proud of being an American.
• 31:51
Speaker 2: It's very particular and ideological. It is democrats, it is liberals.
• 31:56
Speaker 2: And I want to focus on this chart that Gallup
• 31:59
Speaker 2: put out. So in two thousand and one, ninety percent
• 32:05
Speaker 2: of Republicans were very proud of being American, eighty seven
• 32:11
Speaker 2: percent of Democrats were very proud of being American. So
• 32:14
Speaker 2: there's not really a partisan divide. And by the way,
• 32:16
Speaker 2: eighty four percent of independence were very proud, and so
• 32:19
Speaker 2: it was a two thousand and one.
• 32:22
Speaker 1: Okay, So yeah, get ready, folks, you're about to yeah Okay.
• 32:26
Speaker 2: Twenty five years ago it was ninety percent, eighty seven
• 32:29
Speaker 2: eighty four, So they were all clustered, they were all
• 32:30
Speaker 2: within a few points of each other. Basically, everyone, whether
• 32:33
Speaker 2: you were a Democrat or Republican, everyone eighty seven ninety
• 32:36
Speaker 2: percent percent. I'm very proud of being an American. So let's
• 32:40
Speaker 2: fast forward to two thousand and five. So two thousand
• 32:43
Speaker 2: and five, two thousand and one, ninety percent of Republicans
• 32:46
Speaker 2: were very proud of American to be American. In two
• 32:49
Speaker 2: thousand and five, ninety two percent of Republicans are very
• 32:53
Speaker 2: proud to be an American. So it actually has gone
• 32:54
Speaker 2: up a little bit for Republicans. What has happened for independence?
• 32:58
Speaker 2: So independence were at eighty four percent, and in twenty
• 33:01
Speaker 2: five years it's dropped from eighty four percent to fifty
• 33:05
  Speaker 2: three percent.
• 33:07
Speaker 1: So almost a fifty to fifty split. That you're prideful
• 33:10
Speaker 1: in this country and you don't have pride in this country.
• 33:12
  Speaker 1: That's among independence.
• 33:13
Speaker 2: That's scared, Okay, And I want to say the next
• 33:15
Speaker 2: stat is even more horrifying. So Democrats in two thousand
• 33:19
Speaker 2: and one, eighty seven percent of Democrats, I'm very proud
• 33:23
Speaker 2: to be an American. What do you think the number
• 33:26
Speaker 2: is in two thousand and five.
• 33:28
Speaker 1: I think the majority of Democrats hate this country, So
• 33:30
Speaker 1: I'm going to say twenty eight.
• 33:31
Speaker 2: Percent, So it's not quite that bad, but it's thirty
• 33:36
  Speaker 2: six percent.
• 33:37
Speaker 1: I mean, well, and it again to twenty eight and
• 33:39
Speaker 1: a few more years, I guarantee you that.
• 33:41
Speaker 2: So it went from eighty seven percent to thirty six percent.
• 33:45
Speaker 2: So the differential. If you're a Republican, ninety two percent
• 33:49
Speaker 2: of you are proud to be an American. If you're Democrat,
• 33:51
Speaker 2: only thirty six percent are very proud to be an American.
• 33:55
Speaker 2: I got to say that is.
• 33:57
Speaker 1: How much of that center do you think is our
• 33:59
Speaker 1: public school? Says some of our universities like training up
• 34:01
Speaker 1: an entire generation to be a shade of America.
• 34:04
Speaker 2: It's indoctrinating leftists. And part of leftism is that America
• 34:09
Speaker 2: is evil. We are colonialist, oppressive nation. They're taught that
• 34:14
Speaker 2: capitalism is evil, and frankly, look, going back to the
• 34:18
Speaker 2: story we just covered again, I don't know Eileen Goo,
• 34:21
Speaker 2: but she's at Stanford. I assume she's been raised by
• 34:24
Speaker 2: leftists all her life. You know, she was asked, what
• 34:27
Speaker 2: do you think about the Communist Party committing a genic
• 34:31
Speaker 2: side against Wiggers, having over a million Wigers in concentration camps.
• 34:34
Speaker 2: And she said, hey, that's not my problem. I'm not
• 34:36
Speaker 2: worried about it. I don't mean the past judgment on her.
• 34:40
Speaker 2: But I'm just saying that is the fruit of leftists
• 34:46
Speaker 2: controlling our education system. That's saying you cannot have a
• 34:50
Speaker 2: view is mass murder good or bad. I'm sorry leftists
• 34:54
Speaker 2: say no, America is always bad. You cannot have a
• 34:56
Speaker 2: view on over a million people in concentration camps, on
• 34:59
Speaker 2: human slavery, on torture, on murder. No, no, no, America
• 35:02
Speaker 2: is always bad. And look, we saw this at the
• 35:06
Speaker 2: State of the Union. The moment that I thought defined
• 35:11
Speaker 2: the whole State of the Union address is when President
• 35:14
Speaker 2: Trump turned to the Democrats and he said, Okay, I'm
• 35:15
Speaker 2: gonna give you a chance to decide right now, stand
• 35:18
Speaker 2: up if you believe our first priority should be to
• 35:23
Speaker 2: fight for American citizens and not illegal aliens. And every
• 35:29
Speaker 2: single Democrat, all of them, one hundred percent, stayed sitting.
• 35:34
Speaker 2: By the way, that image is going to be played
• 35:37
Speaker 2: on a million campaign ads. I was talking to a
• 35:39
Speaker 2: very senior official in the Trump White House today and
• 35:43
Speaker 2: I was congratulating him on an incredibly successful State of
• 35:46
Speaker 2: the Union and I brought that up. I said that
• 35:48
Speaker 2: was the moment. He kind of laughed and he said, yeah.
• 35:50
Speaker 2: I argued against that. He said, I didn't think it
• 35:53
Speaker 2: would work. I didn't think they would fall for that.
• 35:56
Speaker 2: I thought they'd all stand up. Yeah, and he said,
• 35:58
Speaker 2: I thought it was at best fifty fifty. It's amazing,
• 36:01
Speaker 2: not a single look. I'm not very good at putting
• 36:03
Speaker 2: myself in the shoes of being a Democrat, but I would.
• 36:07
Speaker 1: Think that's a good thing. By the way.
• 36:08
Speaker 2: That's again, if I was a Democrat and heard that,
• 36:10
Speaker 2: I would have stood up and said, yeah, we stand
• 36:12
Speaker 2: for American citizens and not illegals. Like of course, twelve
• 36:16
Speaker 2: seconds ago, that would have been what they did. They're
• 36:18
Speaker 2: all so indoctrinated that every single one said, nope, we're
• 36:24
Speaker 2: with illegals and not American citizens. That's tragic.
• 36:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, it is. Don't forget. We do the show as
• 36:30
Speaker 1: a podcast three days a week. So down with Verdict
• 36:32
Speaker 1: with Ted Cruz wherever you get your podcasts and the
• 36:35

Speaker 1: radio station next week and on the podcast all week long,
