  Speaker 2: Family Homestead Barn. Oh, wow. And that is a beautiful

  Speaker 1: And why do we choose to do a haunted house

  Speaker 1: for that? Because I think that's kind of a little different,

  Speaker 1: but I think when people understand why, I think it's

  Speaker 1: kind of fun.

  Speaker 2: Yeah, so a haunted house is definitely kind of a

  Speaker 2: different way to do things. But we thought, you know,

  Speaker 2: first off, It lines up really well with the current election.

  Speaker 2: It puts us right before the final day for voter

  Speaker 2: registration on the 19th. It gives people an opportunity to

  Speaker 2: check the status of their voter registration. We can help

  Speaker 2: people double-check their polling stations, get registered. At the haunt,

  Speaker 2: they'll actually be able to meet candidates. And then the
• 2:36
  Speaker 2: haunt itself has the theme of the town that went silent.

  Speaker 2: So the horror element there is a legitimately fun haunted house,

  Speaker 2: we're hoping, but it's also going to have an element
• 2:49
  Speaker 2: of a town where people stopped showing up, people gave
• 2:53
  Speaker 2: up their choices. So we're hoping to get some scares
• 2:56
  Speaker 2: kind of along that theme.

  Speaker 1: And again, this is just kind of a fun thing

  Speaker 1: to remind people to get out and vote because every

  Speaker 1: time we have an election in November, it's always right

  Speaker 1: after Halloween, so it's Perfect timing to say, hey, let's

  Speaker 1: do something to kind of tie these two things together.

  Speaker 1: This is the first time I've seen that, though. So

  Speaker 1: I think that's kind of cool that you're doing it.

  Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely. You know, we have some friends and I

  Speaker 2: were kind of discussing different options and and we thought
• 3:21
  Speaker 2: this would be just, you know, a real just fun

  Speaker 2: community organized, civic minded thing that that we could do

  Speaker 2: something we could do to support our community and help
• 3:32
  Speaker 2: drive that, you know, get out and vote message.

  Speaker 1: Now, is this tied to a political campaign or a

  Speaker 1: political party, or it's just kind of open to everybody
• 3:39
  Speaker 1: that wanted to be a part of it?

  Speaker 2: So this is not tied to any political campaign or

  Speaker 2: political party. This is a completely nonpartisan event. We are
• 3:49
  Speaker 2: going to be inviting all the candidates who are running.

  Speaker 2: to come and be represented at the event. We're also
• 3:54
  Speaker 2: going to be inviting the South Dakota GOP and the
• 3:57
  Speaker 2: South Dakota Democrat to be represented at the event as well.

  Speaker 2: So you should be able to hopefully, you know, people
• 4:04
  Speaker 2: are starting to respond already. So hopefully you should be
• 4:06
  Speaker 2: able to meet a lot of the candidates who are
• 4:08
  Speaker 2: running from both sides of the aisle. And again, we're

  Speaker 2: going to have opportunities for people to as well check
• 4:14
  Speaker 2: out their voter registration status, get some opportunities to get
• 4:17
  Speaker 2: assistance registering voting, registering to vote if they haven't already
• 4:21
  Speaker 2: registered Um, as well as double check.

  Speaker 1: I think that's really cool. And that many politicians in

  Speaker 1: one place that is going to be a scary haunted house. No,

  Speaker 1: it'll be a fun time. I think that's really cool.

  Speaker 2: in our core group who are really helping to organize this,

  Speaker 2: but we've also got, uh, a lot of volunteers flowing

  Speaker 2: in and out, just giving time when they can. You know,
• 4:55
  Speaker 2: I've definitely, you know, dealt with a few dozen people
• 4:58
  Speaker 2: here and there face to face. And I know that

  Speaker 2: there are other people working on other angles with it that,

  Speaker 2: that I haven't been working with as directly. So definitely,

  Speaker 2: you know, a ton of people involved because this is

  Speaker 2: something that that's really exciting. And this is, this is

  Speaker 2: something that is, Close to a lot of people's hearts

  Speaker 2: in Sioux Falls because we've been seeing lower and lower
• 5:17
  Speaker 2: election turnout the last couple of years. And that's a
• 5:19
  Speaker 2: trend that we want to see reverse.

  Speaker 1: Absolutely. And again, we talked about what it is now.

  Speaker 1: We're going to remind people when it is. It's coming
