- 0:04Speaker 1: Not many more sleeps until at Tea takes over Orlando,
- 0:10Speaker 1: which I guess we kind of do all the time.
- 0:12Speaker 1: But AJ, are you extra excited that the Winter Meetings
- 0:15Speaker 1: are in Orlando? I mean, you're I would say, one
- 0:18Speaker 1: of the most like prideful Florida Orlando people out there
- 0:22Speaker 1: and everybody gets to see our great city.
- 0:26Speaker 2: First of all, it's not your city, Scott, because you're
- 0:28Speaker 2: never here, So let's you know, let's get.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Rid of those let's get rid of those tax breaks
- 0:33Speaker 3: for you.
- 0:33Speaker 2: You're the second of all, am I excited absolutely because
- 0:39Speaker 2: last time it got canceled because of something called COVID,
- 0:42Speaker 2: So Orlando has had a long break in between Winter meetings,
- 0:45Speaker 2: and they should be here like every third year. I
- 0:48Speaker 2: think they should go here San Diego.
- 0:50Speaker 3: In Nashville or Vegas.
- 0:51Speaker 2: They can pick the other one, but it should that way.
- 0:53Speaker 2: It's one side of the country nice weather, the other
- 0:55Speaker 2: side of the country and nice weather, and then a
- 0:57Speaker 2: fun place to go, whether it's your bachelorette party for you, Scott,
- 1:00Speaker 2: or whether it's like to gamble for other people. So
- 1:03Speaker 2: I think that's the way they should do it, but
- 1:05Speaker 2: they don't.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Are you accusing me of crashing other people's bachelorette parties.
- 1:11Speaker 2: No, I'm just saying, if you'd like to go to
- 1:12Speaker 2: bachelorett parties, Nashville's your spot.
- 1:16Speaker 1: That's true, and I will say I agree on the
- 1:19Speaker 1: warm weather front. I would prefer winter meetings to be
- 1:22Speaker 1: in warm weather locations. No offence to Maryland, but a
- 1:26Speaker 1: little bit of a fence to Maryland because sometimes it's
- 1:28Speaker 1: the winter meetings in December. Could have snow there, although
- 1:31Speaker 1: most people don't leave the hotel. Crats your thoughts.
- 1:35Speaker 4: I went to a baseball convention I think it was
- 1:38Speaker 4: the abca's or something in Chicago in like January. That
- 1:44Speaker 4: was awful that I was watching the lake freeze as
- 1:49Speaker 4: the like. We had this suite overlooking the lake. So yes,
- 1:53Speaker 4: warm weather every winter meeting, even if it's in December.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Probably not getting snow in Maryland in December. But you
- 2:00Speaker 4: don't need no, no, stay warm. That's the that's the
- 2:04Speaker 4: one redeeming value of Florida.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Stay down there. Mm hmm.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Well, and we get AJ and I guess me on occasion.
- 2:12Speaker 1: All right, let's charge.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Charge about AJ.
- 2:19Speaker 1: What do you have on Cedric Mullins to the Tampa
- 2:21Speaker 1: Bay Rays? You know. I was looking at the Rays outfield.
- 2:23Speaker 1: He was not very productive last year, although Mullins wasn't
- 2:26Speaker 1: either in the second half.
- 2:28Speaker 3: No, once Smallens got traded, he was. He was the ECHI.
- 2:32Speaker 2: They benched him at one point in the Mets when
- 2:34Speaker 2: he went there. So yeah, I like this.
- 2:36Speaker 3: I like this.
- 2:37Speaker 2: This is a high upside for the Rays. They can
- 2:39Speaker 2: do something. They'll probably platune them, bounce them around a
- 2:41Speaker 2: little bit. But yeah, this is a good deal. This
- 2:43Speaker 2: is kind of what the Rays do. They try to
- 2:44Speaker 2: find guys that are bounced back candidates, guys on the fringes.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Everyone says, oh, eventually the Rays are going to sign
- 2:51Speaker 2: a big guy. Well, yeah, they always try, but they
- 2:53Speaker 2: never get it done. So this is a good deal
- 2:55Speaker 2: for Cedric. This is a good way for him to
- 2:57Speaker 2: have a bounce back here, and it's a good deal
- 2:59Speaker 2: for the Rays. They can play Uhim in the centerfield
- 3:00Speaker 2: against right hand and pitching, and then we all know
- 3:02Speaker 2: the Rays get creative with their lineup. So I like
- 3:05Speaker 2: this deal.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I'm going to put someone on blast who we're friends with,
- 3:08Speaker 1: Kratz real quick before you comment to and by the way,
- 3:11Speaker 1: for the podcast crowd, that's just listening. It's one year,
- 3:13Speaker 1: seven million bucks. Sometimes we reference Mike Petriello's tweets and
- 3:18Speaker 1: stuff like that. Right, there's a few like analytics people
- 3:21Speaker 1: where we'll point out a lot of things that we like.
- 3:23Speaker 1: He did comment I'm surprised, something along the lines of
- 3:27Speaker 1: he was surprised that he got a major league contract.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa a major league contract? Cedric
- 3:33Speaker 1: mom has been a really good play. We're gonna we're
- 3:34Speaker 1: gonna completely ding him for what three four bad months
- 3:38Speaker 1: in his platform year.
- 3:42Speaker 4: I mean, is he getting up there in age thirty?
- 3:45Speaker 4: He to me still has he still has time left.
- 3:47Speaker 4: And it shows in the fact that he was a
- 3:50Speaker 4: little bit below average as far as hitting he was,
- 3:54Speaker 4: I think he's a ninety four ohps plus. Could that
- 3:57Speaker 4: bump back up to an average an average? Could he
- 4:00Speaker 4: get back to one hundred ops plus? Could it be
- 4:02Speaker 4: a little bit higher? Yes, But to me, he's still
- 4:05Speaker 4: stealing bags when you're not on I think he hit
- 4:08Speaker 4: two fifteen for the season, and when you're not on
- 4:12Speaker 4: base a lot, but you still score, you still steal
- 4:15Speaker 4: twenty two bags. Like there's value there, Like to not
- 4:18Speaker 4: get a big league contract, I have a tough time.
- 4:22Speaker 4: I have a tough time with that with that comment.
- 4:24Speaker 4: I mean, you're you're talking about a guy who's gonna
- 4:26Speaker 4: still be able to play a really good center field
- 4:29Speaker 4: and you said it. You said it really well, Scott.
- 4:32Speaker 4: The fact that they mix and match their lineups, maybe
- 4:34Speaker 4: there's some guys that he doesn't have as much success against.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Are they looking for him to be an everyday center fielder. Yeah,
- 4:41Speaker 4: he might be able to play one hundred and fifty games,
- 4:45Speaker 4: but if they get one hundred and thirty solid games
- 4:48Speaker 4: out of them, because they can sit him against a guy,
- 4:51Speaker 4: you know, tough lefty lefty matchup. They can sit him
- 4:54Speaker 4: against a guy that you know, throws more splitters, and
- 4:57Speaker 4: that's what he struggled with. I don't know what it is.
- 4:59Speaker 4: I think they can still find a lot of value
- 5:00Speaker 4: in centric molds.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Yeah, Aj for me, as bad as he was down
- 5:05Speaker 1: the stretch for the Mets. If you look at his
- 5:08Speaker 1: season totals in terms of hitting ops plus league average
- 5:12Speaker 1: one hundred, he was at ninety four. Year before that,
- 5:14Speaker 1: one oh four year before that, one oh one year
- 5:16Speaker 1: before that one oh seven. The outlier year was twenty
- 5:18Speaker 1: twenty one, where he was ninth place al MVP. He
- 5:21Speaker 1: was an All Star, Okay, so that was your outlier
- 5:24Speaker 1: standout year. Since then, it's been very consistently a league
- 5:27Speaker 1: average bat and an elite outfielder, an elite center fielder, right,
- 5:32Speaker 1: And the metrics have varied a little bit, but he's
- 5:34Speaker 1: almost always in top end percentile withouts above average, more
- 5:37Speaker 1: of an average arm. And then also just watch him.
- 5:40Speaker 1: He's a super athlete. He makes incredible plays. So I
- 5:43Speaker 1: think you're getting an exceptional defender and someone who probably
- 5:46Speaker 1: you hope really is just league average because there aren't
- 5:49Speaker 1: many center fielders that do it all anymore, just like
- 5:52Speaker 1: we have that problem with catchers.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Agreed, And that's why I said I like this deal.
- 5:57Speaker 2: And he's he's been a league averager above most of
- 5:59Speaker 2: his career. So listen, first time switching teams, going from
- 6:03Speaker 2: the Orioles to the Mets last year, probably some different things.
- 6:06Speaker 2: How many people have wed say hey, I can't deal
- 6:10Speaker 2: with having to switch teams, and how hard it is,
- 6:12Speaker 2: especially for position players because you know, it's a new
- 6:14Speaker 2: coaching staff, it's a new this, it's a new that,
- 6:16Speaker 2: and it's an everyday thing. So it's hard for me.
- 6:19Speaker 2: To look at Cedric Mullens and say which one is he.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I think he's closer to what he was the first
- 6:23Speaker 2: half with the Orioles than what he was with the Mets.
- 6:24Speaker 2: So again, I love this signing. They'll put him in
- 6:27Speaker 2: good positions to succeed, and he'll be in a division
- 6:30Speaker 2: that he knows in the Al East. He's been there
- 6:32Speaker 2: his whole career except for the last two months of
- 6:34Speaker 2: last year. I like this deal for the Rais. This
- 6:37Speaker 2: is the raise what the Rays.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Do, and maybe it signifies that they are going to
- 6:42Speaker 4: get rid of Josh low Like I'm sorry Brandon Lowe,
- 6:46Speaker 4: I said, meant to say Josh Lowe, but Brandon law
- 6:49Speaker 4: because to me, I would think Brandon Loow's that leader
- 6:52Speaker 4: in that clubhouse now with Keir Meyer gone, Yandi's not
- 6:56Speaker 4: very voisterous, so guy with the most service time. You
- 7:00Speaker 4: bring in a veteran that can be that leader, not
- 7:02Speaker 4: necessarily that like, oh we need you to be if
- 7:05Speaker 4: if Brandon sticks around, but he has those chops that
- 7:08Speaker 4: he that he learned in Baltimore.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Yeah, he's back in the Al East. And do you
- 7:16Speaker 1: know who else was hot after Cedric Mullins. I think
- 7:18Speaker 1: you guys will get a little chuckle. Although you probably
- 7:21Speaker 1: read it somewhere the team that was really going after
- 7:23Speaker 1: Cedric Mullins Marlins, the Twins, not the Minnesota No, no, no,
- 7:30Speaker 1: not the Minnesota Twins. Hold on, I wanted to clarify
- 7:32Speaker 1: the Twins of the Rays, which are the Marlins?
- 7:36Speaker 3: Right? Aj?
- 7:36Speaker 1: Aren't the Marlins just trying to do everything that the
- 7:38Speaker 1: Rays do to a t?
- 7:40Speaker 2: But know what Peter Bendix wants to do down there?
- 7:42Speaker 2: I mean he wants he wants to do the same thing.
- 7:44Speaker 2: And hey, listen, every team tries to be the Rays
- 7:48Speaker 2: in some way, and the Rays of outraid everybody else
- 7:51Speaker 2: so far, So I think I think, yeah, they listen,
- 7:55Speaker 2: they were both interested in him. They have something on
- 7:57Speaker 2: him that they like. They've both seen him a lot
- 7:58Speaker 2: of Peter Bendix and and the Rays of both seen
- 8:01Speaker 2: Cedric Mullens a lot.
- 8:02Speaker 3: So yeah, sure.
- 8:05Speaker 1: For the Rays, yeah, I mean, it wasn't a good
- 8:07Speaker 1: year last year. They do have solid pitching position player wise, Yeah,
- 8:13Speaker 1: the lineup doesn't look great. It looks okay, Aja, where
- 8:16Speaker 1: are we at with the Rays right now? Because the
- 8:18Speaker 1: al least seems like it's starting to take off again
- 8:22Speaker 1: in terms of how many competitive teams there are, right,
- 8:24Speaker 1: often it's like there's one or two that you're really
- 8:26Speaker 1: dialed in on. It seems like we're at three or four.
- 8:30Speaker 1: So I'm wondering where the Rays are at.
- 8:33Speaker 3: I mean Yankees. Are they better than Yankees?
- 8:35Speaker 2: No?
- 8:35Speaker 3: Are they better than the Red Sox? No?
- 8:37Speaker 2: Are they better than the Blue Jays who just almost
- 8:39Speaker 2: won the World Series or about this far from winning
- 8:41Speaker 2: the World Series? No? I don't think so, especially with
- 8:46Speaker 2: cease and some of the other most ponts and some
- 8:48Speaker 2: of the other things they're gonna do. Are they better
- 8:50Speaker 2: than the Orioles. We'll see when Michael Ollas gets done.
- 8:54Speaker 2: I don't think they are right now. So right now
- 8:56Speaker 2: they're in fifth place in this division. They got to
- 8:59Speaker 2: make some moves.
- 8:59Speaker 3: This help. Is it the end all be all?
- 9:01Speaker 2: No, but it's a nice first baby step back trying
- 9:04Speaker 2: to get into contention, because say what you want about
- 9:07Speaker 2: the Rays, they need help. And this is a this
- 9:09Speaker 2: is a this is a nice piece, but it's not
- 9:11Speaker 2: a great I mean, it's not a piece of You're like,
- 9:12Speaker 2: oh wow, that changes the division.
- 9:15Speaker 1: No, And it tells me, I mean, the Rays are
- 9:16Speaker 1: never gonna do the big game shopping, though. Maybe things
- 9:19Speaker 1: change once the owner gets his feet settled in and
- 9:22Speaker 1: once they get the ballpark situation figured out. But it
- 9:25Speaker 1: seems like they're kind of done with their outfield signings.
- 9:27Speaker 1: They might make trades, but they added Jake Frayley for
- 9:30Speaker 1: a year and three million bucks. They added Cedric Mullins.
- 9:33Speaker 1: They just spent ten million dollars on boosting their outfields.
- 9:36Speaker 1: So we'll see. I'm sure they'll be active in the
- 9:38Speaker 1: trade market. They almost always are. Show me the money,
- 9:51Speaker 1: I love it, I love it all right, So we
- 9:53Speaker 1: will get to Miguel Rojas getting some money from the
- 9:56Speaker 1: Dodgers for his final season. But before that, I mean,
- 9:59Speaker 1: we got to start with the headliner this morning in
- 10:01Speaker 1: regards to this team, the back to back champs.
- 10:04Speaker 3: AJ.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I know you didn't read the column, but you probably
- 10:06Speaker 1: saw the headline. Teoscar Hernandez could be on the trade block,
- 10:11Speaker 1: Ken Rosenthal putting out a story here that his name
- 10:14Speaker 1: is coming up in trade conversations and he certainly is
- 10:17Speaker 1: not a good defender, and they're trying to figure out
- 10:19Speaker 1: what the future looks like. We talked a lot about
- 10:21Speaker 1: this unfair territory. So if you want to click that
- 10:24Speaker 1: later on you can go for it. I added to
- 10:26Speaker 1: the theory here AJ Dodgers have watched Teo struggle in
- 10:31Speaker 1: the outfield. They love the bat, or at least you
- 10:33Speaker 1: really like the bat. I think that he needs to
- 10:36Speaker 1: be getting significant DH time at this point in his career.
- 10:39Speaker 1: With the way that he plays defense in the outfield.
- 10:41Speaker 1: You can't do that in LA, So it seems like
- 10:46Speaker 1: the best fit for him could be somewhere else.
- 10:48Speaker 2: What do you think, Yeah, except they really like him
- 10:52Speaker 2: as a guy too, Like say, you've talked about that.
- 10:56Speaker 2: I mean, they really like him as a guy. But yeah,
- 10:59Speaker 2: he needs to almost be a saw his defense come
- 11:03Speaker 2: into play a few times in the postseason and almost
- 11:05Speaker 2: cost the Dodgers some games. So would they be able
- 11:08Speaker 2: to find somebody better? Would just open it up for
- 11:10Speaker 2: what everyone is saying would be a Kyle Tucker move
- 11:13Speaker 2: to Rayfield. I don't know, but if they can move him,
- 11:16Speaker 2: then it brings in other options they can do. Teams
- 11:18Speaker 2: would take them, but would they take him as a
- 11:20Speaker 2: DH and would Tayo want to do that? I don't know,
- 11:23Speaker 2: but yes, I agree Scott, he's probably better off suited
- 11:25Speaker 2: right now as a DH and the man can still hit.
- 11:28Speaker 2: So let's not forget the man can still hit.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I love Tao.
- 11:34Speaker 4: I'm just gonna say he's better. I think he's better
- 11:36Speaker 4: suited as a left fielder. I don't think his days
- 11:39Speaker 4: in the outfield are done. In my opinion, I get it.
- 11:41Speaker 4: I saw the same drop fly balls. I saw you know,
- 11:45Speaker 4: some mis routes that game in Colorado where he didn't
- 11:48Speaker 4: call him off. Yes, I get that, But I don't
- 11:52Speaker 4: see the Dodgers giving him three years sixty six million.
- 11:56Speaker 4: I know there's some team investing options at the end
- 11:59Speaker 4: of that, but I don't see them doing that last
- 12:03Speaker 4: year thinking I hope we can slide by or he
- 12:07Speaker 4: regressed so much. I don't think they're that far off
- 12:10Speaker 4: of it. Now what Aj alluded to. If they're in
- 12:15Speaker 4: the Tucker sweep stakes, yes, I could see them packaging
- 12:19Speaker 4: him with a prospect, you know, getting you know, because
- 12:23Speaker 4: at DH, I don't think he's giving a team enough
- 12:26Speaker 4: value to say, yeah, we'll take on the twenty two
- 12:29Speaker 4: million a year, We'll take on the forty four million
- 12:31Speaker 4: that's left because you know, he didn't he had a
- 12:34Speaker 4: down offensive year. Could he have a big bounce back year? Absolutely.
- 12:40Speaker 4: I still think it's in there, and he's an amazing dude.
- 12:42Speaker 4: I just think his shift to left field would be
- 12:45Speaker 4: more beneficial for the Dodgers' long term because there's a
- 12:49Speaker 4: lot of dudes that just kept the ball in front
- 12:51Speaker 4: in left field. I'm not saying it's ideal. I'm saying
- 12:53Speaker 4: he gives you enough and your DH spot is locked
- 12:58Speaker 4: up forever. So oh, I don't see that. I don't
- 13:02Speaker 4: see him getting moved yet.
- 13:08Speaker 1: All right, twelve million bucks in twenty twenty six, fourteen
- 13:11Speaker 1: and a half million bucks in twenty twenty seven, eight
- 13:14Speaker 1: mil deferred each season, and then there's either a buy
- 13:17Speaker 1: out of six and a half mil or fifteen mil
- 13:19Speaker 1: club option for twenty twenty eight. So there's still some
- 13:22Speaker 1: significant money. Not crazy money though. And here's the thing.
- 13:24Speaker 1: This particular market is lacking bats like Taoscar Hernandez. It
- 13:30Speaker 1: is no tell me how many bats are like him.
- 13:34Speaker 4: I'm telling you what somebody is gonna pay for what
- 13:37Speaker 4: he did. Like, just think about his platform, yere and
- 13:41Speaker 4: what he got in free agency. Now, think about this
- 13:44Speaker 4: past season as his platform here. Look at his numbers
- 13:47Speaker 4: and tell me what a team is going to give
- 13:50Speaker 4: the Dodgers.
- 13:51Speaker 1: For that, you're saying they're not going to get a
- 13:55Speaker 1: lot for him.
- 13:57Speaker 3: I just don't see it right. I don't see a team.
- 14:01Speaker 1: That's okay, hold up, hold up, hold up, I don't
- 14:05Speaker 1: know a j Do you think the Dodgers are floating
- 14:08Speaker 1: this out to try and get a significant haul or
- 14:10Speaker 1: because they're trying to make the pieces fit.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Better and they also can clear some money to maybe
- 14:15Speaker 2: try and go get somebody else, which the Dodgers, say
- 14:18Speaker 2: what you want. I don't think it has anything to
- 14:19Speaker 2: do with the prospect hall they can get. They could
- 14:21Speaker 2: get Airkrats and aj Perzinski for Tayo. Hernandoze would probably
- 14:25Speaker 2: do it right now, just to get the money off
- 14:26Speaker 2: the books and make it fit the pieces better. So
- 14:29Speaker 2: I don't think it's about a prospect hall or not.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I just think it's about, hey, does somebody want to
- 14:33Speaker 2: take him off our hands? He's still a pretty good player.
- 14:35Speaker 2: We like him, and then we can make maybe our
- 14:38Speaker 2: team better with another player they can bring in for two.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Yeah, to me, Krats right handed hitting power, can play
- 14:46Speaker 1: some outfield, I mean for me right now, like.
- 14:50Speaker 2: And he gets big hits. He's always been better, all right?
- 14:54Speaker 2: Our runners in the scoring position and big moments, he
- 14:56Speaker 2: seems like he steps his game a big time.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Remember when we when we talked about the Grayson Rodriguez
- 15:02Speaker 1: trade and they pick up Taylor Ward, And part of
- 15:04Speaker 1: the write up there from kenon others was how there
- 15:07Speaker 1: aren't many bats even like that, and this is a
- 15:09Speaker 1: better bat in Tao. It's a worse glove. But I
- 15:12Speaker 1: do think there aren't a ton of those out there
- 15:14Speaker 1: on the market right now. I mean, it's sure, is
- 15:17Speaker 1: Pete Alonzo that guy? Yeah, but that's a different position
- 15:20Speaker 1: and he's gonna cost you significantly more money, and Tao
- 15:23Speaker 1: might be able to give you somewhat similar production there.
- 15:26Speaker 1: So I get what you're saying to kras it's weird,
- 15:29Speaker 1: Like I feel as if Tao is such a Dodger
- 15:32Speaker 1: and he's so mixed in with that whole group and
- 15:36Speaker 1: the roster fits just weird. He's thirty three years old, Like,
- 15:38Speaker 1: do you really want him manning the outfield full time?
- 15:41Speaker 1: He's never going to DH for them, never.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Is.
- 15:45Speaker 4: But who I mean right now, Taylor Ward, they sold
- 15:48Speaker 4: him high, so they got they they're convinced, or the
- 15:53Speaker 4: Oriels are convinced they're getting a guy who's going to
- 15:55Speaker 4: hit thirty six home runs again, who's going to hit
- 15:59Speaker 4: You know, he had a better year than Tayo at
- 16:02Speaker 4: the plate. He had a better year than tayl Is
- 16:04Speaker 4: he a better hitter than him? I think they both
- 16:07Speaker 4: strike out a lot. I think they both can be
- 16:08Speaker 4: super streaky, and when they're on their streaks, there's not
- 16:11Speaker 4: a lot of contact going on. But I think Taylor
- 16:15Speaker 4: I in my opinion, obviously if they go and get
- 16:19Speaker 4: Kyle Tucker type. And I don't think the Dodgers are
- 16:23Speaker 4: looking to get rid of money either though. To me,
- 16:25Speaker 4: I think Taylor left field is better than what they
- 16:29Speaker 4: tried to pay. They tried to pay Conforto eighteen or
- 16:32Speaker 4: twenty million last year to play left field. It didn't work.
- 16:35Speaker 4: You can pay Tayo whatever you have to pay him.
- 16:39Speaker 4: I know there's a lot of deferred and all that stuff,
- 16:40Speaker 4: So I don't know how much is actually getting paid
- 16:43Speaker 4: for this season on the books to play left field
- 16:46Speaker 4: for you. And you still keep a guy who you
- 16:47Speaker 4: just signed to a three year contract and I don't
- 16:50Speaker 4: think he's that awful in the outfield. I think you
- 16:53Speaker 4: have to rein it in. He plays super deep that's
- 16:55Speaker 4: why he's not getting to balls that fans think he
- 16:58Speaker 4: should get to. That's why he's running in a hall
- 17:00Speaker 4: on his heels, and he drops that ball in the
- 17:02Speaker 4: playoffs like he gets a lot of flak for it.
- 17:06Speaker 4: But you also got to remember who was playing right
- 17:08Speaker 4: field before their goal glove shortstop was winning a goal
- 17:11Speaker 4: glove in right field. So I just I think it's
- 17:14Speaker 4: a little I think they're a little jaded saying, well,
- 17:17Speaker 4: we need an upgrade in right field. Yes, but I
- 17:20Speaker 4: don't think that means Taoscar Hernandez needs to leave the Dodgers.
- 17:24Speaker 4: I think he just needs a shift to left field.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Okay, So you're good playing him every day on the
- 17:31Speaker 1: Dodgers in the outfield, okay, because that's the only option,
- 17:33Speaker 1: right if you think that's he's thirty three. If it
- 17:37Speaker 1: gets if it gets worse, though, he's he's at the
- 17:39Speaker 1: bottom right now. Right, So for right field, I don't
- 17:41Speaker 1: have the left field numbers, and obviously him play leftield,
- 17:43Speaker 1: but right field last year thirty third out of thirty
- 17:46Speaker 1: six players, and now it's above average on minus nine
- 17:48Speaker 1: right So there's there's not much room after that, Like
- 17:50Speaker 1: it starts to become a liability, and for me, eye
- 17:53Speaker 1: test wise, it's burned in my brain. There are certain
- 17:56Speaker 1: memories of moments where you're like, damn, that could have
- 17:59Speaker 1: gone side ways and cost them a lot.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Okay, but it's burning your brain that Aaron Judge dropped
- 18:04Speaker 4: that fly ball in the World Series Aaron Judge and error.
- 18:08Speaker 3: I watch Judge every day.
- 18:09Speaker 1: That's so different. That's that is one brutal play at
- 18:13Speaker 1: the worst time. But for me, there's a lot of those.
- 18:15Speaker 1: If you're if you're watching him consistently, like, there are
- 18:18Speaker 1: a lot of brain fart plays and as it is
- 18:20Speaker 1: like you have those. Plus the floor is low. The
- 18:24Speaker 1: floor for Judge is super high, right, Like you're getting
- 18:27Speaker 1: good plays, you're getting good coverage out there. For him,
- 18:29Speaker 1: the floor is low, and then you get the botched place.
- 18:32Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I'm being critical here. I love the guy,
- 18:34Speaker 1: I love the bat, but for the I just think
- 18:37Speaker 1: that he should be in more of the Jordon Alvarez mix. Right,
- 18:40Speaker 1: Jordon when he's healthy was one third outfield ish from
- 18:43Speaker 1: what I remember, and then two thirds d H. And
- 18:45Speaker 1: I think Tao's good enough to do that. And I
- 18:47Speaker 1: think aj I think, well, if Kratz you want to
- 18:49Speaker 1: buy back first. He'll be a better hitter if he's
- 18:52Speaker 1: able to do that.
- 18:54Speaker 4: I just think I think there's still value there because
- 18:57Speaker 4: and this is this is just a complete just outsider
- 19:01Speaker 4: looking in. The Dodgers knew they never had any d
- 19:05Speaker 4: H spots for Tayo, and they still did this contract.
- 19:08Speaker 4: It wasn't because wow, man, you know, we're coming off
- 19:11Speaker 4: the high of the World Series and he did so
- 19:13Speaker 4: good this year. They evaluate evaluated what they had, and
- 19:17Speaker 4: I just don't believe in the one year regression, the
- 19:21Speaker 4: you know, the fact that now we got to get
- 19:23Speaker 4: rid of him. I think the Dodgers looked ahead and
- 19:25Speaker 4: planned ahead enough that they don't have to get rid
- 19:28Speaker 4: of him in this season.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Well, you better get rid of him now because if
- 19:34Speaker 2: it goes another season, you're definitely not going to be
- 19:36Speaker 2: able to get rid of him.
- 19:37Speaker 3: So strike now, bounce back. Okay, not defensively, Yeah, not defensively.
- 19:47Speaker 2: That's not the thing that the Dodgers need him to
- 19:49Speaker 2: be better defensively. We're not talking offensively. We're talking defensively.
- 19:53Speaker 2: They're not bringing back Michael CONFORDO. Okay, No, it brought
- 19:56Speaker 2: bout Mickey Rowe for his utility in the fact, plus
- 20:00Speaker 2: have a healthy Edmond, they think they can play the outfield.
- 20:02Speaker 2: They still right, They'll find some guys they and they're
- 20:05Speaker 2: gonna go out and get somebody whoever that is. They're
- 20:07Speaker 2: gonna go get somebody to help them in the outfield.
- 20:10Speaker 2: And if they have to trade Tao, I would do
- 20:12Speaker 2: it now. I wouldn't wait another year because his defense,
- 20:15Speaker 2: as you get older usually doesn't get better. It usually
- 20:17Speaker 2: slowly goes the other way, and his pretty quickly.
- 20:21Speaker 3: And they're better with Pie Hayeson right, true, better with
- 20:26Speaker 3: Pie Hayesen right and Edmund and center.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Now Edmund in the I would put Edmond in the
- 20:31Speaker 1: infield and trade for Buxton or somebody like that.
- 20:38Speaker 3: I mean, this isn't roto world. We're not. We're not.
- 20:40Speaker 3: We're not just getting everybody that you want. I know,
- 20:42Speaker 3: it's a Dodge.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I thought the Dodgers get whoever they want.
- 20:46Speaker 3: No, they pay for everybody. Thinks they pay for everybody.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Reality also, by the way, I understand, but all I
- 20:52Speaker 1: I I traded a player and I acquired a player.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I didn't do that much. And it's not like I
- 20:56Speaker 1: spent a billion bucks doing it. I traded for a
- 20:58Speaker 1: player who's on the block. I trade a player who
- 21:00Speaker 1: is now reportedly on the block and made a quick change.
- 21:03Speaker 1: That's just one of many, But I'm just using an
- 21:05Speaker 1: example of how you can significantly improve your defense. If
- 21:09Speaker 1: you're the Dodgers, you're still looking to get better. You
- 21:11Speaker 1: won the World Series back to back years, but this
- 21:13Speaker 1: past season, you look, you didn't blow the competition away.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Where are my flaws? That's what a team does, That's
- 21:18Speaker 1: what a good team does. They say, where are my flaws?
- 21:20Speaker 1: So most of the guys they're not going anywhere. They're
- 21:24Speaker 1: on long term contracts. They're an older team position player wise,
- 21:27Speaker 1: which is fine, but they're the oldest position player team.
- 21:30Speaker 1: So just wrong it out there.
- 21:31Speaker 3: That's all.
- 21:32Speaker 1: It was Ken's report. If you want to bother Ken
- 21:33Speaker 1: at the Winter Meetings, like AJ, well then you certainly
- 21:36Speaker 1: can try and tap into him.
- 21:37Speaker 4: Then I wasn't invited, so I can't. I can't come
- 21:40Speaker 4: to the Winter meetings, but maybe.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Okay, neither was Jared Krabas, which we'll get to later,
- 21:44Speaker 1: So you and Jared can talk later. We'll get into
- 21:48Speaker 1: that anyway. No Miguel Ross, just real quick, AJ last
- 21:54Speaker 1: season feel good story it's cool that the Dodgers bring
- 21:56Speaker 1: him back. You can play a number of positions one year,
- 21:59Speaker 1: five and a half million bucks, biggest swing of the
- 22:01Speaker 1: year for the ball club this past season. And then
- 22:03Speaker 1: look at the bottom note from Fabian, who covers the
- 22:06Speaker 1: team for the Athletic. Rojas is expected to assist the Dodgers'
- 22:09Speaker 1: front office in player development once his team, once his
- 22:12Speaker 1: time as a player is done.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Wait, but I thought he was a bad guy who
- 22:17Speaker 2: bullied people and did all these bad things to young
- 22:21Speaker 2: players when he was in Miami. Wait what, Oh, that's
- 22:24Speaker 2: that's hasn't gone very well since that story came out.
- 22:26Speaker 2: We don't want to talk about that another time. Everybody
- 22:29Speaker 2: I have ever talked to says Miguel Rojas is one
- 22:32Speaker 2: of the greatest people they've ever played with.
- 22:34Speaker 3: So anyways, but this is awesome. Good for him. He
- 22:37Speaker 3: had a huge home run.
- 22:38Speaker 2: And by the way, when kras says that the Dodgers
- 22:40Speaker 2: didn't fall in love with Tao because of the year before,
- 22:43Speaker 2: absolutely they did. And that's one of the reasons. He
- 22:46Speaker 2: also allegedly took more less money to come back to
- 22:49Speaker 2: the Dodgers, if you remember, because remember his agents said
- 22:52Speaker 2: he was going to get offered more next they signed
- 22:55Speaker 2: Mickey Rowe. You know who's going to be back next, Hey,
- 22:58Speaker 2: k k Colin, Key, Paige and Kik You'll be next,
- 23:01Speaker 2: so listen. I love this move form both sides. I
- 23:04Speaker 2: love the Dodgers. I love the fact that the Dodgers
- 23:06Speaker 2: will saying, you know what, Maggie, we like you so much.
- 23:08Speaker 2: We want you to help us in the future of
- 23:09Speaker 2: the organization.
- 23:11Speaker 3: This is awesome. This is what you like to see.
- 23:13Speaker 4: If you ever question what type of person somebody is,
- 23:16Speaker 4: you can look at Miggi Roe's numbers and everything on
- 23:19Speaker 4: the field. If you're a question what type of person
- 23:21Speaker 4: somebody is, they get offered a job in the organization
- 23:25Speaker 4: to help the future of the org. That is what
- 23:30Speaker 4: they think of that guy, because they know how he
- 23:33Speaker 4: goes about his work, how he because minor league development
- 23:37Speaker 4: is all about how you treat the people that are
- 23:39Speaker 4: coming up. So if there was ever a question, which
- 23:42Speaker 4: I don't think there is, except for one person says
- 23:44Speaker 4: there's a question about him, then.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Yeah, miggi row. Good for him.
- 23:49Speaker 4: He gets to finish his career in LA. He loved
- 23:53Speaker 4: his time three peatd.
- 23:58Speaker 1: That's what he's trying to do and finish his career
- 24:00Speaker 1: with the Dodgers. All right, let's get to a couple
- 24:02Speaker 1: other things here quick. In Ken's notes column, he said
- 24:07Speaker 1: the tattooya am I, he kind of went over how
- 24:11Speaker 1: the comments that he made on the dice K podcast
- 24:14Speaker 1: or whatever definitely hold merit, but he still would play
- 24:18Speaker 1: with Japanese players. So he brought up, for example, the Cubs. Right,
- 24:22Speaker 1: so if the Cubs end up winning the bid for him,
- 24:24Speaker 1: they've got, say, as Suzuki, They've got showed to Imanaga
- 24:28Speaker 1: because he said like, hey, I can do this on
- 24:30Speaker 1: my own, like he can, and he's confident. But I
- 24:32Speaker 1: think it more just speaks to a guy who's definitely
- 24:35Speaker 1: down to do a big market team. And B, which,
- 24:38Speaker 1: of course, why is he going to roll that ou
- 24:39Speaker 1: and B it doesn't have to be the Dodgers. AJ's
- 24:42Speaker 1: shaking his head, why because the Cubs aren't going to
- 24:44Speaker 1: pay for him.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Because his agent said, dude, shut your mouth and you
- 24:47Speaker 2: want of you won every team involved in your bidding.
- 24:50Speaker 3: That's what happened. His agent was like, why would you
- 24:54Speaker 3: say that. It's like when number one Vlad.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Number one Vlad was like, I won't play for the Yankees,
- 24:59Speaker 2: and then it got one year and he's like, oh wait,
- 25:01Speaker 2: I will actually play for the Yankees because his agent
- 25:04Speaker 2: was like, hey, dude, you need the Yankees in on
- 25:06Speaker 2: this bidding, so let's get this much money as you can.
- 25:08Speaker 2: And I mean he probably feels the same way when
- 25:11Speaker 2: he go to LA. Of course he go to LA
- 25:12Speaker 2: if they're the highest bidder, but he'll go wherever is
- 25:15Speaker 2: the highest bidder. Let's let's stop with this. There was
- 25:18Speaker 2: one guy that I've seen so far in a long
- 25:21Speaker 2: time that hasn't come over and taken the most money,
- 25:24Speaker 2: and that was Show Hey, because he wanted to be
- 25:27Speaker 2: in LA. Other than that, they they've they pretty much
- 25:29Speaker 2: have all taken the most money and that's their right.
- 25:31Speaker 3: Good for them, go get the most money.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Yeah, this guy clearly can play anywhere. That's more of
- 25:37Speaker 1: what it's like. The difference I'll say is, I mean,
- 25:42Speaker 1: I know it was a different situation because the money
- 25:44Speaker 1: didn't really matter for rookie Sasaki since everyone could offer
- 25:47Speaker 1: about the same range. I mean, everyone felt like he
- 25:51Speaker 1: was going to go to the Dodgers. Tatsuvia my is
- 25:53Speaker 1: down for whatever bidder is interested. And I think a
- 25:59Speaker 1: lot of people thought, Oh, the Giants are probably gonna
- 26:02Speaker 1: spend they need a starter. They're pretty far under the
- 26:05Speaker 1: luxury tax number. Oh wait, they are not interested in him.
- 26:10Speaker 1: They're not going to play in those waters. Okay, yeah,
- 26:12Speaker 1: he's interested in a bunch of different teams. He doesn't
- 26:14Speaker 1: just have to take down the Dodgers. He can face
- 26:16Speaker 1: the Dodgers in the World Series with the Yankees, or
- 26:19Speaker 1: he could face them in the Ces with the Cubs.
- 26:21Speaker 1: So the one thing we did know for sure is
- 26:24Speaker 1: that it sounds like his name is not going to
- 26:26Speaker 1: surface during the Winter Meetings for a signing. That would
- 26:29Speaker 1: be a surprise. He's planning on doing the little tour
- 26:33Speaker 1: visiting teams, and to me, that was the biggest news
- 26:37Speaker 1: out of this notes column because you don't know until
- 26:39Speaker 1: you find out what the itinerary is. It sounds like
- 26:42Speaker 1: that will start after the Winter meetings. He has until
- 26:45Speaker 1: January second, so he's got time.
- 26:47Speaker 2: But sometimes it happens during the time, calling Chris Getz,
- 26:51Speaker 2: let's go, Chris get time, and.
- 26:53Speaker 3: They get im. Just get this guy to sound with
- 26:55Speaker 3: the White Sox. Let's go. He said, he's open to
- 26:56Speaker 3: plan anywhere.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Let's go. Lall sudden they brought in a Japanese starts
- 27:00Speaker 2: outahitoa Gucci that won the World Series.
- 27:02Speaker 3: So let's go White Sox. Do we want to see him?
- 27:06Speaker 4: Do we want to see him at the just standard
- 27:09Speaker 4: standard places or do we want to see Tatsuyo my
- 27:13Speaker 4: go to a place that is kind of outside the box,
- 27:16Speaker 4: because really, right now it's the standard Giants stink are
- 27:20Speaker 4: still in. You know, the hole we're not spending is
- 27:22Speaker 4: a posture. Giants, Dodgers, Mariners, Cubs, never the White Sox.
- 27:29Speaker 4: And then you go down the East coast of teams like,
- 27:32Speaker 4: do we want those eight standard teams that get the
- 27:36Speaker 4: Japanese players or do we want somebody out outside the box?
- 27:39Speaker 4: Do we want to see the Astros who need a
- 27:42Speaker 4: starting pitcher to get him?
- 27:46Speaker 1: Yeah, but they're not going to because Chandler Rome has
- 27:49Speaker 1: dialed in on their peril. You're just saying, would you
- 27:51Speaker 1: like to see it?
- 27:51Speaker 2: Sure?
- 27:51Speaker 1: It would be fun.
- 27:52Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 27:52Speaker 1: I don't have like a strong feeling of boy, yeah,
- 27:55Speaker 1: I mean I think it's fun when when unexpected teams
- 27:58Speaker 1: get involved. I also don't think the Manners are playing
- 28:00Speaker 1: in those waters. They spent a lot of money on Naylor.
- 28:04Speaker 1: They're trying to bring back where Hey Polanco, they've got
- 28:06Speaker 1: a good pitching staff. I don't think they're going to
- 28:08Speaker 1: play in those waters, you know, just because he's a
- 28:11Speaker 1: Japanese player, and they used to bring in more Japanese players.
- 28:15Speaker 2: I think they used to dominate the mark Leroy did,
- 28:19Speaker 2: It's Suzaki and then Jojo went over there. I mean
- 28:23Speaker 2: they used to dominate. That was their thing, like everybody.
- 28:25Speaker 2: That was when Nintendo owed them though, So Nintendo needs
- 28:27Speaker 2: to get a switch three to be able to afford somebody's.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Yeah, they don't own him anymore, exactly, all right, last
- 28:34Speaker 1: topic here in this segment. May Pagan signs up two
- 28:37Speaker 1: years twenty million bucks with the Cincinnati Reds. He was
- 28:41Speaker 1: their closer basically from week one last year. As soon
- 28:44Speaker 1: as Alexis Diaz fell apart. Aj Pagan took over the
- 28:48Speaker 1: first week of the season and he ran with it.
- 28:50Speaker 1: He had a great year for Cincinnati. So if it's
- 28:53Speaker 1: a good fit, you bring them back two years ten
- 28:57Speaker 1: a year, you'll take that. He can opt out after
- 28:59Speaker 1: year one, depending on how things go, and maybe get
- 29:01Speaker 1: himself another year tacked on if it goes like it
- 29:03Speaker 1: did this past season.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Let's all forget this guy's had some health issues in
- 29:07Speaker 2: the past. So he went out what he did for Cincinnati.
- 29:09Speaker 2: They made the playoffs and he saved their year.
- 29:11Speaker 3: If you talked to.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Anybody inside that Red's clubhouse and that Red's organization, Terry
- 29:15Speaker 2: Francona on down, they'll tell you how important Amelio Pagan
- 29:18Speaker 2: was because he took that ninth getting over with his
- 29:20Speaker 2: veteran leadership and his stuff and the year he had.
- 29:23Speaker 2: I mean, you know, I know earlier we had a
- 29:26Speaker 2: buck on and say, you know, managers don't really influence
- 29:28Speaker 2: front office, but I guarantee you Terry frank ConA went
- 29:30Speaker 2: to their GM and said, hey, man, like we need
- 29:33Speaker 2: Amelio pa Gone back for numerous reasons, and he said yeah,
- 29:36Speaker 2: Kurt said yes, sir, let's get this done.
- 29:38Speaker 3: And they did good for them.
- 29:40Speaker 4: I would say we go back to what AJ and
- 29:42Speaker 4: Buff we're talking about. With Edwin dis a closer who
- 29:47Speaker 4: you know is going to lock the game down. Is
- 29:51Speaker 4: so important to a manager, so important to a team.
- 29:54Speaker 4: And if the Reds do want to do what they
- 29:57Speaker 4: I feel like they should have been doing the last
- 30:00Speaker 4: two or three years and make it to the playoffs
- 30:01Speaker 4: and make a run. They need a closer. I don't
- 30:04Speaker 4: think it's quite enough yet, but hey, you know what,
- 30:07Speaker 4: I didn't think Amelia was going to do what he
- 30:09Speaker 4: did this year. So they have trust in him. Good
- 30:13Speaker 4: for them and good for him that they were able
- 30:15Speaker 4: to get together on a nice two year deal and
- 30:17Speaker 4: he doesn't have to go continue to go year to year.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Yeah, he's pitched around a bit, a career high seventy
- 30:24Speaker 1: appearances this past season, a two eight eight e, thirty
- 30:28Speaker 1: two saves, and thirty eight chances. His strikeout percentage ranked
- 30:32Speaker 1: in the top eleven percent, So that's I mean, if
- 30:35Speaker 1: your top tien pertent, you're elite. I mean some could
- 30:36Speaker 1: say fifteen percent, so elite swing and miss like he
- 30:39Speaker 1: had it all from them and it worked and whatever.
- 30:41Speaker 1: We think if you believe Kratz's conspiracy theory about the
- 30:44Speaker 1: ballpark not playing the same way, either way, he got
- 30:47Speaker 1: the job done. Because I was going to say in
- 30:48Speaker 1: the past, hey, he even pitched this well in that ballpark.
- 30:51Speaker 1: It also helps to strike guys out in that ballpark
- 30:53Speaker 1: because then you don't have to worry about how the
- 30:55Speaker 1: park's playing.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Just saying just saying, yeah, they're doing something. They're doing
- 31:01Speaker 3: something different there.
- 31:04Speaker 1: We'll bring back what's working because the preventing run side
- 31:07Speaker 1: of things was working quite well for them this past season.
- 31:12Speaker 1: I said preventing runs just so I wouldn't make everyone cuke.
- 31:15Speaker 1: All right, let's spread some rumors. Kyle Tucker made a
- 31:24Speaker 1: little drive from Tampa over to Duneed in Florida, and
- 31:28Speaker 1: he saw that spanking new or somewhat new, I guess
- 31:31Speaker 1: facility for the Blue Jays compared to most other spring
- 31:33Speaker 1: training facilities. They've got the ballpark that's been recently renovated
- 31:37Speaker 1: and the one hundred mili plus renovation that they put
- 31:39Speaker 1: in over the years here at the complex. Remember show
- 31:43Speaker 1: hey o Tani went and visited there. Could Kyle Tucker
- 31:48Speaker 1: sign with the team that was one went away from
- 31:50Speaker 1: winning the World Series? And what would that make their
- 31:53Speaker 1: lineup look like if they don't bring Boba Schepp back.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Aj Or as Ken also mentioned today on Fair Territory,
- 32:00Speaker 1: Is it a little bit of posturing to say to
- 32:04Speaker 1: Boba Schett's camp, bring your price down or we will
- 32:07Speaker 1: go somewhere else.
- 32:10Speaker 2: No. I think this is Kyle Tucker genuinely being interested
- 32:12Speaker 2: in the team and he lives in Tampa, so it's
- 32:14Speaker 2: an easy drive for him. I don't know all this
- 32:16Speaker 2: posturing and all this stuff, but I think he lives
- 32:18Speaker 2: right there. He can drive across the bridge and be
- 32:21Speaker 2: there in about twenty five minutes, depending or sorry, the
- 32:24Speaker 2: causeway not the bridge. I don't want to get yelled
- 32:26Speaker 2: at by Mike Poe, but I mean, this is an
- 32:29Speaker 2: easy drive form And if they're one of the teams
- 32:31Speaker 2: that are genuinely interested in them, of course they can
- 32:33Speaker 2: do this because they're the Blue Jays and they actually
- 32:35Speaker 2: have a lot more money than people give.
- 32:36Speaker 3: Him credit for.
- 32:37Speaker 2: And he would look nice playing for them. I mean,
- 32:40Speaker 2: is he boba shit? I don't know, but he would
- 32:42Speaker 2: look really nice in that uniform. And that's ring training site.
- 32:45Speaker 2: I've been there many times.
- 32:46Speaker 3: It is really nice.
- 32:49Speaker 4: We don't know a lot about Kyle Tucker, but we
- 32:52Speaker 4: do know he's quiet. Seems like he kind of wants
- 32:55Speaker 4: to just go out play some baseball, and no better
- 32:59Speaker 4: place to go to get all that money that he's
- 33:03Speaker 4: going to get whatever three point fifty four twenty whatever
- 33:06Speaker 4: it is. And you don't even have to be the
- 33:10Speaker 4: number number one star. You don't have to be the
- 33:13Speaker 4: guy that they're They'll they'll ask me questions, Okay, yep,
- 33:16Speaker 4: I enjoy playing here. It's gonna be great to play here.
- 33:19Speaker 4: And then they'll be like, Okay, Vladdie, what did you say?
- 33:21Speaker 4: You know, Vladdie's the Vladdie's the face. And it would
- 33:24Speaker 4: be a prime spot for him to slide right in
- 33:28Speaker 4: there and just go and go and have his you know,
- 33:31Speaker 4: one thirty to one fifty ops plus every single year
- 33:34Speaker 4: and contribute to a team that if they would make
- 33:38Speaker 4: this signing, the Blue Jays make this signing would easily
- 33:43Speaker 4: catapult them to the best team in the American League.
- 33:46Speaker 3: On the day they make the signing without bow, without bow. Yes, yes,
- 33:53Speaker 3: I agree. I'm listen.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Every person that I know and I've talked to people
- 34:00Speaker 2: I have said that the Toronto Clubhouse last year was
- 34:03Speaker 2: the best clubhouse they've ever played in. And every guy
- 34:07Speaker 2: that you you have talked to and guys whatever, and
- 34:10Speaker 2: they say, it's unbelievable. That's why Beaver wanted to go back.
- 34:12Speaker 2: That's why everybody wanted to play there. So they have
- 34:15Speaker 2: figured something out in Toronto, and that means something. We
- 34:18Speaker 2: talk about la being a destination, but when players talk
- 34:21Speaker 2: and they say, how is Toronto?
- 34:22Speaker 3: How is Toronto?
- 34:23Speaker 2: How is Toronto. Everyone's like, man, it's amazing, it's amazing,
- 34:25Speaker 2: it's amazing. It's amazing. People listen and they're like, man,
- 34:28Speaker 2: I want to go pee. You part of something that's amazing.
- 34:31Speaker 3: HM.
- 34:34Speaker 1: So I asked that previous question because I wanted to
- 34:37Speaker 1: bring it to this. I would say, it's not likely
- 34:41Speaker 1: they signed Bo and Kyle Tucker. Which one would you
- 34:45Speaker 1: rather do? Which one are you rooting for? If you're
- 34:48Speaker 1: a Blue Jays.
- 34:48Speaker 4: Fan, Wow, because you're essentially adding Santan Dare and Tucker
- 34:56Speaker 4: into that lineup, and you're subtracting Boba Schev, but you're
- 35:00Speaker 4: upgrading Bo's defense with Andre Semenez going over to shortstop.
- 35:05Speaker 4: And I know Ernie Clement had a great year, would
- 35:07Speaker 4: have been the World Series MVP. There might be some
- 35:11Speaker 4: regression there, but I think Ernie Clement at second base
- 35:14Speaker 4: on an everyday basis, he's just going to continue to
- 35:18Speaker 4: to do what he does, doesn't just strike gaupus. But
- 35:21Speaker 4: to me, you're a better team with Kyle Tucker in
- 35:24Speaker 4: right field and not needing Santan Darren right and he
- 35:27Speaker 4: just man's.
- 35:28Speaker 3: D H every day a J. What would you like
- 35:35Speaker 3: to do you have I agree with just I like
- 35:38Speaker 3: to sign them both. But if I don't, I'd rather
- 35:41Speaker 3: have Tucker.
- 35:42Speaker 2: I'd rather have Tucker for me, just because they proved
- 35:46Speaker 2: that they could win with Bashett being out right and
- 35:49Speaker 2: Timena slides in. Clement Barger can move to right field
- 35:52Speaker 2: or third base. Whenever you put Tucker and Wright, you
- 35:54Speaker 2: have Springer, you have our show, you have all these guys,
- 35:57Speaker 2: Kirk Flattie. I mean, that's a pretty solid lineup you
- 36:01Speaker 2: can You can afford to have a guy like Andre
- 36:03Speaker 2: Simenez who did hit huge home runs in the playoffs
- 36:06Speaker 2: but not be a huge offensive ft threat.
- 36:08Speaker 3: It will play unbelievable defense. If you had Kyle.
- 36:11Speaker 4: Tucker, who also has had a goal glove in the past.
- 36:14Speaker 4: I have to definitely clarify and triple down on what
- 36:17Speaker 4: AJ just said. Andre Simenez is a goal can be
- 36:21Speaker 4: a goal glove shortstop. He is a platinum glove at
- 36:24Speaker 4: second base. This is not This is not like some
- 36:27Speaker 4: teams who have just been like, you know what, We're
- 36:30Speaker 4: gonna get this guy who was a third baseman and
- 36:33Speaker 4: we're gonna play him at shortstop. Because I think that's
- 36:36Speaker 4: what our metrics, says, Andre Simenez can play elite level
- 36:41Speaker 4: shortstop every single day in the big leagues. Like, don't
- 36:43Speaker 4: get it twisted with teams in the same division that
- 36:47Speaker 4: have said, you know what, we'll play.
- 36:49Speaker 3: This guy at shortstop. That's that's what we'll do.
- 36:52Speaker 4: There's a difference between and I say it all the time,
- 36:54Speaker 4: big league starting shortstops and people who can play shortstop
- 36:58Speaker 4: in the big leagues.
- 36:59Speaker 3: Big difference.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I mean, I'll double down with you, Kratz. I mean,
- 37:04Speaker 1: Andre Semenez had some nice moments in the postseason, but
- 37:07Speaker 1: he was one of the worst bats throughout this past season.
- 37:11Speaker 1: His bat plays better at shortstop because he can handle
- 37:13Speaker 1: the position well. Right, it's a matter of mixing and
- 37:16Speaker 1: matching correctly.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Aj.
- 37:18Speaker 1: It's not like every team has a second baseman that's
- 37:22Speaker 1: banging thirty homers or something, but andres.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Second basis the second base is usually a little bit
- 37:27Speaker 2: more offensive than shortstop. You usually want a little more
- 37:30Speaker 2: offense than you do at shortstop. You can live with
- 37:32Speaker 2: a less offensively inclined shortstop.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Usually usually you got to have one of the other.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Right, you have a really if you have a really
- 37:38Speaker 2: good defensive second shortstop, you want a good offensive second
- 37:41Speaker 2: basem right, I'll use the Astros as an example. Jose
- 37:45Speaker 2: Al Twov plays second. He's an offensive second baseman. Jeremy
- 37:49Speaker 2: Payna can do both, as we've seen, but he's a
- 37:51Speaker 2: little more defensively inclined. He was, but now his offense
- 37:54Speaker 2: is caught up right. For years it was Payina in
- 37:56Speaker 2: al tuove right, look at I mean, look at the Dodgers.
- 38:01Speaker 2: The Dodgers have Bookie, who's a goal could be a
- 38:04Speaker 2: goal glover, and a MVP of shortstop and then their
- 38:07Speaker 2: second base. Like we can live with Mickey Rohas because
- 38:09Speaker 2: he's a defensive stud. Right, So you can get away
- 38:13Speaker 2: with this, but you usually have to have one and
- 38:16Speaker 2: then the other one be the other thing.
- 38:18Speaker 3: Mhm.
- 38:20Speaker 1: I think right now, if I'm pressed with this, where
- 38:25Speaker 1: does Kyle Tucker sign? I think it's the Blue Jays.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Talk me into another team that makes sense. I think
- 38:30Speaker 1: the Yankees are trying to bring back Bellinger. I don't
- 38:32Speaker 1: think they necessarily want to play in the Kyle Tucker
- 38:36Speaker 1: money game. Who else can pay top dollar like that?
- 38:40Speaker 1: I mean he's going to get at least in the
- 38:42Speaker 1: three hundreds, it might touch four hundred plus. Who else
- 38:47Speaker 1: is playing in those waters. We've gotten reports which I
- 38:50Speaker 1: believe that the Giants aren't going to spend like crazy,
- 38:52Speaker 1: like we can start knocking teams out. The Dodgers seem
- 38:55Speaker 1: like they're more of a short term HIAV, which if
- 38:59Speaker 1: I'm talking, I'm going for the longer guarantee and I
- 39:02Speaker 1: think that's what he'll do help me out. Right, Like
- 39:05Speaker 1: we just took out the NL West. The other teams
- 39:08Speaker 1: in the West aren't doing that. Nobody in the NL
- 39:11Speaker 1: Central is going to spend like that. Now we're onto
- 39:13Speaker 1: the NL East. I don't think the Mets are going
- 39:15Speaker 1: to go for another outfielder like that. I guess the
- 39:17Speaker 1: Phillis Kratz. Is that a dark horse candidate or just
- 39:21Speaker 1: a candidate in general? And AJ's got one too.
- 39:23Speaker 3: You got the Dodgers after they trade Tail.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Yeah, but they're gonna Are the Dodgers going to give
- 39:30Speaker 1: him three hundred and fifty four hundred million plus bucks?
- 39:33Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 39:34Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, I'm just saying they're watch watch out, watch out.
- 39:39Speaker 2: They're ruining baseball. Remember, don't forget sure with the Blue
- 39:41Speaker 2: Jays by spending all this money, So you know, there's
- 39:43Speaker 2: a lot of teams ruining baseball. I know because they
- 39:45Speaker 2: can't afford these players. They just happen to be able
- 39:48Speaker 2: to keep signing guys.
- 39:49Speaker 1: Except the Blue Jays probably made like two hundred million
- 39:51Speaker 1: dollars this postseason, and so now all of a sudden
- 39:53Speaker 1: they can take their payroll from to forty to three
- 39:56Speaker 1: hundred plus easily. I gave a ton of respect to
- 40:00Speaker 1: them right now. They recognize, how, wow, we make so
- 40:03Speaker 1: much more money when we're good. Why don't we just
- 40:05Speaker 1: like push in a little bit more like we did
- 40:08Speaker 1: this past season and things will happen. Wow, this really
- 40:11Speaker 1: worked out well for us, So I give them a
- 40:13Speaker 1: ton of credit. They all you want as a fan
- 40:15Speaker 1: base is for your team to be competitive, and then
- 40:18Speaker 1: when you are, you reinvest in the team and keep
- 40:21Speaker 1: freaking pushing Krat's your thoughts on Phillies? Are other teams
- 40:24Speaker 1: that I'm missing here?
- 40:25Speaker 4: Well, the Blue Jays are playing chess when everyone else
- 40:29Speaker 4: is playing checkers. They're putting their advertisement on Japanese fighting rings,
- 40:34Speaker 4: Like yeah, Like they're taking advantage of this time and
- 40:37Speaker 4: they should continue to take advantage of it. To me,
- 40:40Speaker 4: I think to where there's smoke, there's fire. The Phillies
- 40:43Speaker 4: almost traded for Tucker, so they did all their due diligence,
- 40:46Speaker 4: So like, how much do we like this guy enough
- 40:49Speaker 4: to give up two years of Alec Baum last last offseason? Yeah,
- 40:54Speaker 4: So I think I think the Phillies, if they don't
- 40:57Speaker 4: get Schwarber, I think this is how they pivot. So
- 41:00Speaker 4: I think there's While you would never say Schwarber and
- 41:03Speaker 4: Tucker's market are kind of intertwined, I think that is
- 41:09Speaker 4: a thing.
- 41:10Speaker 3: I think.
- 41:10Speaker 4: I think that's a team that if you're if you're
- 41:13Speaker 4: Tucker and the Philly say, now, sorry, we're not into it,
- 41:17Speaker 4: Like we're looking for a guy who's maybe more voice
- 41:19Speaker 4: stous leader type, and we're fine, we'll figure out Justin
- 41:22Speaker 4: Crawford in the outfield or bring a Vader back that
- 41:24Speaker 4: kind of thing.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Uh.
- 41:26Speaker 3: Then I'm like, oh, we.
- 41:29Speaker 4: Got to start drumming up some interest here, because if
- 41:32Speaker 4: it's only the Blue Jays, the blue Jays aren't overpaying.
- 41:38Speaker 1: And there's my point. It just it looks like a
- 41:40Speaker 1: team that makes sense in terms of the fit for them.
- 41:43Speaker 1: And then if you're Kyle Tucker in his reps, you're like, Kyle,
- 41:46Speaker 1: I think you should drive over to Dunedin and make
- 41:49Speaker 1: best friends with the Blue Jays as either your premier
- 41:52Speaker 1: destination or at least a team to try and help.
- 41:55Speaker 3: It up on the hooks.
- 41:56Speaker 2: If you don't want to go there, at least keep
- 41:57Speaker 2: them on the hook and and make them at least
- 42:00Speaker 2: think about it, because it helps the negotiation if there's
- 42:02Speaker 2: another team out there.
- 42:04Speaker 4: I asked Schneider. I asked Schneider if I could get
- 42:06Speaker 4: a tour of the Dunedin facility, and he said it's
- 42:09Speaker 4: only for big league free agents. I've said, technically, AJ
- 42:14Speaker 4: and I are big league free agents every single year.
- 42:17Speaker 4: We are not retired yet.
- 42:19Speaker 3: So there's that.
- 42:21Speaker 2: I don't need it. I've already had it. I've had
- 42:24Speaker 2: My son played for the Blue Jay scout team. I've
- 42:26Speaker 2: been in that facility way more than I need to
- 42:28Speaker 2: in my life. It's awesome. It's awesome. It's an awesome.
- 42:32Speaker 1: Awesome pictures and videos next time.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Oh my God doesn't play for them anymore in spring training,
- 42:38Speaker 2: when I go over there, I'll ask if I can
- 42:40Speaker 2: take some photos.
- 42:41Speaker 3: Heyj what are you doing nothing? Nothing? Why? No, that's
- 42:46Speaker 3: good marketing.
- 42:47Speaker 1: That's good marketing. We need more of that. Anyway, an
- 42:49Speaker 1: MGM futures while we're on the Blue Jays here plus
- 42:52Speaker 1: seven hundred to represent the American League in the World Series. AJ,
- 42:57Speaker 1: I'm interested.
- 42:58Speaker 2: I definitely tickles my fancy a little bit. I'm not
- 43:01Speaker 2: gonna lie after what we saw them do last year
- 43:04Speaker 2: and what they're already doing in this offseason. Plus seven hundred,
- 43:07Speaker 2: throw one hundred down and win seven hundred. Throw the
- 43:09Speaker 2: money Scott and Crafts have down. I know, like ten
- 43:11Speaker 2: to twenty thousand. You get into big numbers there.
- 43:15Speaker 3: I don't hate this.
- 43:16Speaker 2: I really don't with Cees and Gosman and the rest
- 43:19Speaker 2: of that pitching staff and what else they're going to
- 43:21Speaker 2: keep doing. And then you throw in if they sign
- 43:24Speaker 2: oh man, if they sign Kyle Tucker after this, think
- 43:26Speaker 2: how much better you'll be feeling about yourself? Or if
- 43:28Speaker 2: they bring back bo Either way, I don't hate this
- 43:30Speaker 2: at all.
- 43:31Speaker 1: How are the Mets plus six hundred and the Blue
- 43:34Speaker 1: Jays are plus seven hundred to represent their side? How
- 43:37Speaker 1: in what world are the numbers punching that out? I
- 43:40Speaker 1: really don't understand it, And yeah, maybe I'm gonna eat
- 43:42Speaker 1: my words. It's not about that. It's just where we
- 43:45Speaker 1: sit right now when you look at both teams, you're like, who.
- 43:50Speaker 4: I mean these picks? If you're picking these picks, it's
- 43:55Speaker 4: about the value. Where you're finding value, We're not finding
- 43:58Speaker 4: any value. And plus six to one for the Mets
- 44:02Speaker 4: like we did yesterday, seven to one for the blue
- 44:05Speaker 4: Jays gone, clearly gone are the days where the Blue
- 44:10Speaker 4: Jays are in on people. Ooh, we can't get anybody
- 44:14Speaker 4: to go across the border. No now, they're words that
- 44:17Speaker 4: were just used by aj A destination. They figured things out.
- 44:21Speaker 4: Guys want to be their best club house. Plus seven hundred.
- 44:28Speaker 3: Locking it in, Thank you very much, thank you. All right.
- 44:34Speaker 1: So for the betters out there, bet MGM is your spot,
- 44:38Speaker 1: and they want to give you another chance at a
- 44:41Speaker 1: little redemption on your first touchdown score. So if your
- 44:44Speaker 1: first time touchdown scorer scores second instead, then they'll give
- 44:47Speaker 1: you your stake back in cash. Also, you can get
- 44:50Speaker 1: up to fifteen hundred dollars paid back in bonus bets
- 44:53Speaker 1: if you don't win your first bet. That's the new
- 44:55Speaker 1: player offer when you use the code foul and one
- 44:57Speaker 1: other thing to throw out there. Tonight the big Thursday
- 45:01Speaker 1: night football game. They're going low, big for the lines,
- 45:03Speaker 1: so it'll be a little more favorable for anyone betting,
- 45:07Speaker 1: and that will go down even further closer to game time.
- 45:10Speaker 1: So check out what they're throwing out there. If you've
- 45:12Speaker 1: beten on Thursday, is Scott?
- 45:15Speaker 3: Who's a Thursday NYE game? And I Scott? Don't look?
- 45:18Speaker 3: I don't know? Am I supposed to know? Yeah, it's
- 45:21Speaker 3: a big one. I'll give you one of the times.
- 45:25Speaker 1: I've paid the last attention of football NFL this year
- 45:28Speaker 1: than ever in my entire life. And yes, i am
- 45:30Speaker 1: a Jets fan growing up, and I'm completely done. I
- 45:33Speaker 1: don't want to watch or care about the Jets and
- 45:35Speaker 1: I swore off them before the season even started. So
- 45:38Speaker 1: it's not about them being bad to start the year.
- 45:39Speaker 1: I just I truly don't care. It's and people will say, oh,
- 45:46Speaker 1: we need a salary cap because then they'll be parody.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Oh really, there's parody. The Jets have fucking sucked for
- 45:51Speaker 1: twenty years. There's not parody there. They're terrible for twenty years. Like,
- 45:56Speaker 1: it's not fun, it's not fun to be a fan, right,
- 45:59Speaker 1: There's there's nothing there. They don't have a quarterback for
- 46:02Speaker 1: twenty years. They have a shitty organization. It's it's not
- 46:04Speaker 1: a fun fan experience, and I quit off of it.
- 46:06Speaker 1: I've like slowly stopped and now I'm completely out. I
- 46:10Speaker 1: just don't care. Maybe I'll come back sometime, but I
- 46:12Speaker 1: kind of stopped for the last ten years and not
- 46:14Speaker 1: like watch game here and there. So anyway, there's my
- 46:17Speaker 1: fandom and that's why I don't know. But AJ, you
- 46:20Speaker 1: can enlighten me. Is it involved the Dallas Cowboys?
- 46:27Speaker 4: Hey, a just stoically stoically watching. Yes, it is the Cowboys.
- 46:33Speaker 4: It's the Cowboys Alliance.
- 46:34Speaker 3: There you go.
- 46:36Speaker 1: All right, anyway, that's it for our little bet MGM segment.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Can't like problem were concerned? Remember, there's help one eight
- 46:43Speaker 1: hundred gambler. Let's get back to bees. One thing to
- 46:59Speaker 1: point out, then we'll do krats hats. Ron Washington back
- 47:02Speaker 1: in the mix.
- 47:04Speaker 3: Buck broke, Buck broke the news. Buck was the one
- 47:08Speaker 3: that told me.
- 47:09Speaker 1: No, it was Bob Nightingale this morning.
- 47:12Speaker 3: I know. But Buck was like, didn't I see something
- 47:14Speaker 3: about Ron Washington?
- 47:17Speaker 1: That's the wrong think. Isn't that the wrong tweet?
- 47:22Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 47:24Speaker 1: The Giants? No, yeah, the Giants, not the Ace.
- 47:29Speaker 3: Hey, what did the tweets say?
- 47:33Speaker 1: I will say Bob's not perfect. He makes mistakes on Twitter.
- 47:38Speaker 3: I will say it.
- 47:39Speaker 1: Bob will to Bob tweeted it out this morning. He
- 47:41Speaker 1: was first to the news. He originally said a's and
- 47:44Speaker 1: then he corrected himself. He was speeding to the Twitter machine.
- 47:49Speaker 1: But it is Ron Washington finalizing a deal with the
- 47:52Speaker 1: Giants to be their major league infield coach. So he
- 47:57Speaker 1: was talking like Bob also said in the first tweet,
- 47:59Speaker 1: like it could be one of the biggest signings in
- 48:01Speaker 1: the off season. I'm like, and if we have Bob
- 48:03Speaker 1: on right now that Bob, I'm all for Wash.
- 48:06Speaker 3: I love him.
- 48:06Speaker 1: It's a great addition. I'd rather have a MA I'd
- 48:10Speaker 1: rather have Kyle Tucker. I'd rather have Kyle Schwarber. Like
- 48:14Speaker 1: Ron Washington's still going pretty far down the list when
- 48:17Speaker 1: it comes to acquisitions. I'm looking for player talent. But
- 48:21Speaker 1: Wash is a legend. He helps teams. I think when
- 48:24Speaker 1: you talk to some people in Atlanta, they're like things
- 48:27Speaker 1: were never the same without Wash as part of the
- 48:29Speaker 1: coaching staff. He just brings an energy. He's a lifer,
- 48:32Speaker 1: you know. I mean, who's that guy in your Areakrat's
- 48:35Speaker 1: probably Larry Boa. No, as part of the Phillies organization.
- 48:38Speaker 1: He's always been around there where just I mean, I
- 48:41Speaker 1: know he's not like in the dugout right now, but
- 48:44Speaker 1: just a guy like that who's around the team and
- 48:46Speaker 1: brings like the all out energy all the time, always
- 48:49Speaker 1: talking about the game. You're always excited to talk to them.
- 48:51Speaker 1: It's a different energy.
- 48:53Speaker 3: The not the head honcho, you know.
- 48:55Speaker 4: I think about like the Diamondbacks Dave McKay coaching first base,
- 48:58Speaker 4: like everyone's like, whoa dude legend? You know, Yankees and
- 49:03Speaker 4: Red Sox, Blue Jay's time it was it was Brian Butterfield.
- 49:10Speaker 4: You talk about guys. Yes, they're not the they're not
- 49:14Speaker 4: the they're not the bride that the bride's maid on
- 49:17Speaker 4: the team. They're not the the manager or even the
- 49:20Speaker 4: bench coach. They're just that guy that's kind of that energy.
- 49:23Speaker 4: Guy in Wash has been a really good manager, and
- 49:27Speaker 4: for him to take this role, I think it's awesome
- 49:29Speaker 4: and I think it kind of doubles down on what
- 49:31Speaker 4: I was saying before, like, Okay, we have good defenders,
- 49:35Speaker 4: can they be better?
- 49:37Speaker 1: And you have a manager who has some really great
- 49:40Speaker 1: characteristics and traits, but he hasn't managed before or coached
- 49:43Speaker 1: at all in the big leagues. Helps to have Wash
- 49:46Speaker 1: on your side, It really does. So props to Tony
- 49:49Speaker 1: Vitello and his staff for hiring Ron Washington. What do
- 49:53Speaker 1: you got on the way out?
- 49:55Speaker 4: Well, I texted Schneider to see if I could get
- 49:57Speaker 4: a tour figure of Tucker's going to tour. Why can't
- 50:00Speaker 4: I get a tour? I'll bring my I told him
- 50:02Speaker 4: I'll bring my Blue Jay's hat, but he said no,
- 50:04Speaker 4: it's only for big league, big league free agents.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Yeah, no Dunedin and no Orlando for your crats. But
- 50:09Speaker 1: you do get to talk to us tomorrow too. Me,
- 50:11Speaker 1: you and Todd Father, we still love you.
- 50:16Speaker 3: Are you up? Smor uh? Good?
- 50:19Speaker 1: See you didn't get an invite and now you're rejecting
- 50:22Speaker 1: me on the way out. I have a good weekend.
- 50:23Speaker 3: Dude's a little long one, yes, sir,
