- 0:02SPEAKER_00: And I made simple.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: Why are you here?
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Because here's where I help you think about how to implement AI with clarity in your business and your organization and your nonprofit.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: And so today we're talking about something that's really been thinking about it a lot.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: You know, they launched this uh cyber cab in Austin recently.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: I'm in Texas, and Austin, Texas is one of the epicenters of the robot-driven car um revolution.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Imagine, imagine a car navigating through uh traffic with without a steering wheel and without a brake.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: And and so it's like, wow, this is crazy.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: An actual robot, an embodied robot.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: An embodied robot means an AI robot with a body.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: We we've always thought about robots with arms and legs, but basically the cyber cab is a robot, it just has wheels instead of arms, and wheels instead of legs.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: And so it's a robot that drives around in traffic safer than if humans were to do it.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: And so, you know, in the design of that cyber cab, and and why do I say safer is because even the insurance companies are offering a 50% discount on your insurance premiums when full self-driving supervised is engaged.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: So, what is that?
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: That's what we call receipts.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: That's the actual outcome of this situation.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: And so when you look at that uh cyber cab, one of the things about it is they have taken the steering wheel out of it, they've taken the brakes out of it, they've taken the uh rear view mirrors, they've taken the back window out of out of this car.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: And so when you think about, well, why did they do that?
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Well, it's uh saves in manufacturing, it saves in weight, it saves in efficiency, all these benefits that happen.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: But if you back up and ask the question, what where did that idea come from?
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: And it's predicated on removing the human out of the equation, meaning that if you weren't to rely on a human to drive and make all the decisions on how to move this vehicle through traffic from a point A to point B, if you took them out of that equation, what would that what would happen?
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: And well, what happens is, and that that that question is predicated on the human is the the inconsistency, the failure point in safe driving.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: You know, mothers against drunk drivers, why does that exist?
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Because humans drink alcohol, then they get in a car and they drive.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: And why is that so bad?
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Well, it kills people.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Well, why do they kill people?
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: Because it removes judgment, reaction times, all these things.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: Why do people, you know, we see all did you know that?
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: This is crazy.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: I think more people die on the roads in the US than were killed during Vietnam.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: That's a lot of people that are dying because the human is the uh failing factor, the inconsistent factor, the one that's not paying attention, gets distracted, falls asleep, doesn't react in an unexpected situation appropriately.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: So today that's what we're talking about.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: And it, you know, we're talking about you're paying humans to be robots, but why are we paying humans to be automatons?
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: There, there's this famous, I'm not thinking of the name of the movie, but there's this famous black and white movie that comes to my mind that shows these humans uh without any emotion working in a factory.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: And when you think about your organizational chart, your organizational chart and your rules that you set up are to do what?
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: To improve output and tell humans what to expect, how to follow, you know, what to do in these situations.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: And what are you trying to do?
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: You're trying to design to remove most of the failures that humans put in the process, in the workflow, in in the output.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: And so what does that mean?
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: It means that we're where humans are the unpredictable component, and so we've designed a thing called it's called labor.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Even in uh economic discussions, if you if you go and you have an economics degree, you know, humans working are categorized as labor.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: And what is labor?
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Labor is a function of controlled human output that can be dependent upon, right?
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: And so we're moving humans out of their creative nature and we're putting them into a robot role.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: We're expecting a human to be a robot, but if we go back to the insurance receipt, so to speak, on these full self-driving cars designed by Tesla, it means that we're expecting humans to perform as machines, and yet if you let AI do take that driver's seat, so to speak, then AI can do the machine part.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: The the machines can be the machines, and you can release your humans to be what they're designed for, creative and visionary, right?
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: There's even a whole book called The Entrepreneur Operating System by Gino Wickman.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: And what is it?
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: You have two basic roles.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: You have the visionary and then you have the implementers.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: And when you get that clear, then you have a designed system, operating system for your business, entrepreneurial operating system.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: And it's clearly going, you've got some humans that are visionary and some humans that are implementers.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: And that's that part of uh creating a system where the implementers have clarity and are successful.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: And so the cyber cab lesson is this you know, what a vehicle with no steering wheel can teach us about the future of business.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: And this is the future, it's here, it's already happening.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: You have robots driving around in traffic more safe than if you were to do it yourself.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: So everyone talks about that efficiency of that cyber cab, but removing the steering wheel, their brakes, uh reveals that brutal admission is that the human is the most unpredictable component in driving a car safely.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: Everything removed follows from that one admission, right?
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: And so you have a multi-billion dollar insurance industry designed to do what?
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: Provide coverage for this human that's going to cause all this chaos, all this damage, all these repairs, all these deaths, all these injuries, right?
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's just we just accept it, and that's been our reality until now.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: We can go, wait a minute, wait a minute.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: This is happening.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: If this is happening in the physical world, this is happening in our business.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: We're causing all sorts of chaos and chaos and and train wrecks in our business because we're still expecting the humans to do the things in the business that aren't creative, they're aren't visionary, they aren't adding value, they're just moving papers from one inbox to the next.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: And we're so what are we doing?
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: We're pushing people into an automaton state or an automaton status role.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: And how many people have you heard?
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: I hate my job.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Well, why do they say that?
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: Why do they hate their job?
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: Well, they're they're there because they got to pay the bills, but that work is not fulfilling.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: And why is it not fulfilling?
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: Because it feels wrong.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: It feels like you're being babysit.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: So if you think about your org chart and your standard operating procedures, yeah, well, if you do this, then get a repo repo approval.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: If you do this, let's um be that handoff, and then let's make sure we have someone to check with so-and-so.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: And why does that exist?
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: Is because we're trying to keep things consistent and keep things moving that aren't broken or produced wrong.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: You know, one of the things that I run into is like there's a way to, you know, now to set up a way to answer your phones with an AI voice assistant.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: They're so good now, it's almost hard to tell if it's real human talking.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: But the initial reaction is no way, I would never trust a robot, a voice agent to answer my phone.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: But, you know, one thing you should ask yourself, are you listening to your humans as they answer the phone?
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: Are you listening to those recordings?
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: Because I think you would be embarrassed.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: I think you would be uh shocked, and I think you'd want to improve that because that's the first impression with a customer or a prospect with your business.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: And usually it's not impressive, it's embarrassing.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: And so we're everything's built on the century of producing a workflow or a factory floor where we're doing one thing one way over and over and over.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: And that was designed to create efficiency and improve quality.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: And so that went from the factory floor in many ways, and now you have this in just sitting at a desk and doing these repetitive things that this AI software could unleash this person to be more creative.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: And so the word is called labor.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: Labor, yeah.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: So that is what labor is that is that definition putting human power into a controllable um um lane with guardrails to keep them out of trouble.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: And so when you take this AI software that's been done now and it's shown to be successful and safer, when you see these Teslas driving around, all of them now are equipped with a feature called full self-driving supervised.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: Supervised.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: Okay, that means that the human is still in the loop, but guess what?
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: Even if you get into one of those cabs today, one of those cyber cabs, you just get in and sit there, it's not going anywhere until you do what?
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: Tell it where to go, tell it what the destination is that you want, and then it takes care of all the details getting to that destination, but it still requires that supervision, that direction.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: And so that same expectation would be similar in your business.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: If we have a century of labor, the old legacy way, the human role is configured to be a dependable, predictable automaton, right?
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: And so basic tools waiting for human input and removing the dangers of human inconsistency.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: But when we look over to what our where our lever of efficiency and production can go, it means that if we take that software and we put it inside of our business and to inside inside of our business operating system, then we can be freed to be an unpredictable creative idea generator.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: That's our highest value.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: We're unpredictable.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: The AI agents can't do this.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: And the automation and handling now becomes the how.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: If I have an idea and I want to pull off the idea, I go research it, I create it, I create, you know, I brainstorm and I get this idea.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: And then I come and hand it to my AI agents, and it figures out the how.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: For example, uh I use a lot of software, and most of the software is continuously being updated.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: They'll release, you know, these even these uh uh chatbot, AI agent chatbots, they're continuously being updated with model after model after model.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: And the truth is you can't keep up with it and know all the configuration and all the new things that you can do.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: And so, what does that mean?
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: You default to the old way until you figure out the new way.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: Well, if you lean into this AI automation, it always knows the new way, it always knows the how.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: But if you're expecting to know the how, you're having an you're having an unrealistic expectation.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: And so by empowering your ingenuity and your direction and taking advantage of this, it gives you a big creative and competitive advantage.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: So the vehicle still, your vehicle being your business, your organization, your nonprofit, your your family, whatever it may be, it still needs a destination, it still needs a vision.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: And so that's where your value is, and that's where you're clear.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: And so many of our episodes, if you've been following along, I show you how to use, for example, Gemini Notebook, how to clearly communicate your vision so that your team can align their creative powers to arrive at that destination with you to facilitate and support you in that.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: But now the the same expectation now is to deliver that same vision and clarity in your AI agents.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: What does that mean?
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: It means that right, here's what I believe, here's why we're doing this, here's my intent, and here's the destination I want to get to.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: Figure it out.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: I mean, you run an organization.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: How many times have you just wished one of your employees just read your mind?
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: Wouldn't it be cool if you just say, here's what I want to do, here's my vision, here's the why behind it, here's the intent behind it, and here's where I want to end up.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: Just go do it.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: And so now that reality is actually a truth.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: It happened, and think about how did that cyber cab come into existence?
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Well, it started with a vision that Elon had, for example.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: Then he shared that vision with his team.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: He didn't build these cyber cabs, he didn't build the factories, he didn't build uh the AI.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: He gave the vision and he said, where we want to go, where's our destination?
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: His team implemented it.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: And by the way, that team uses AI very effectively, and it is one of the most efficient, fast-scaling, successful companies in the world.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: He does that with um the satellites, he does that with uh Grok, he does that with his rockets.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: That is your model that you need to be designing that sort of thinking into your organization.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: Hey, this is something crazy.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: What if you gave each of your employees AI agents and told them to manage agents instead of manage to-do list, instead of manage paperwork, instead of manage emails and customer service calls?
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: And well, wouldn't that be crazy?
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: Well, that's not crazy.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: That's a reality that's coming.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: And the sooner that you adopt the right mindset and start to implement it today, the better.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: And so this is this is what driving, this is what the steering wheel, you're expecting your employees to use the steering wheel.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: This is what, I mean, this is not an inaccurate way that a lot of people feel about their position or their role in your company or in many companies.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: They feel uh anxiety, they uh feel uh unclear about where they're going.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: They're they're not exactly clear about why all this paperwork and all these uh uh reports and all of this things that they have to do, it pulls their creative energy down into a labor role.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: Well, this is a reality, and so you need to help point to the right vision that you want your team to go towards, and then you need to start stop paying your team to be robots and start implementing a cyber cab mindset.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: Hand them the one thing the machine can't do, and that's to decide where you're going.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: You give the clear vision, and then they go, and their role is a complementary role to get you to that vision.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: They need to start doing the same thing, but they're not going to do it until they see you do it.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: So in the supervised component, FSD, full full self-driving, supervised.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: Well, many times uh, and you'll hear a business owner, man.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: I got it going, and then I was able to step away and go on a vacation and not think about the business, right?
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: So, what does that mean?
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: They put it into a full self-driving mode or hoped, hoped that full self-driving mode existed in their business.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: But when they come back, they learn a lot of things that they hoped wasn't actual reality.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: They learned that certain things went off the rails.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: And I hear it all the time.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: Man, I can't, I can't step away from my business because it requires me to be involved, to keep it on the rails, to keep it in, you know, between the on the between the uh curbs, right?
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: And so this is why you have your vision has to be clear, you have to have standard operating procedures, but you need to start implementing your AI agents to do this so that you can step away.
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: A business needs to be supervised, but it doesn't require you to do everything same role.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: You know, all oftentimes I'll see a restaurant manager, and I'm I'm coming from the restaurant world.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: A restaurant manager basically is the one who steps in and does whatever the role was of the person that didn't show up that day, right?
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: So if the manager didn't show up, then guess what?
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: The dishwasher uh doesn't show up, and guess what?
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: The dishes don't get done.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: So that manager steps in and does that.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: Well, that is a business that is in danger of not having a supervised supervisor, right?
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: And so you're bit that exists in your business, but you have to have clarity of vision where you're going and proper expectations and implement the AI agents and the AI software in the areas that releases your team.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: So imagine all the people in that restaurant example.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: Imagine your team being able to step in and cover the dishwasher not showing up, and but it not diminish the output of their particular row.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: So that's what implementing an AI agent does in your business, it releases your team.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: And also we've been talking about recently so many people include a lot of release that person out of all those tasks that pull them down and keep them as an automaton and releases them to be more creative and visionary.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: Wouldn't it be cool if you came back and your team figured out a way to not need the dishwasher?
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: Wouldn't that be crazy?
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: Is that a crazy thing to expect?
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: Hmm.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: Think about it.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: So the fear of AI isn't about the technology, it's about the human.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: It's admitting that the human is the weak point in the situation.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: You know, I I talk to folks about, you know, if you got a Tesla, you there's an expectation now that exists that you wouldn't drive.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: And they all have the same look on their face.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: Oh, I wouldn't, I wouldn't feel comfortable with that.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: That's no way I can't do that.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: But once then you see all the people who thought that, and then engaged full self-driving mode, and then all of a sudden they react realize, oh my gosh, there's all these things that I can do now that was being demanded by me having my hands on the wheel and my, you know, all of my attention on doing what?
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: This thing, this dangerous task of moving a vehicle about traffic.
- 21:29SPEAKER_00: Well, now that expectation is you can be focusing your energy on other things and arrive at the destination, relaxed, safely, instead of in a fender bender, uh hitting a curb, not finding a place to park, all these things.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: So, what can you do today in your business?
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: Write down right now, as a leader in your business.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: What are you doing?
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: What are you doing that actually you could automate and figure out how you can automate it?
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: And guess how you're gonna figure out how to automate it?
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: You can just gonna load up all the things that you're doing into your your um Gemini Notebook, is what we talk about here, but you can do this with ChatGPT or Croc or uh Gemini.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: Load it up in there and go, hey, look through all this and tell me what's an easy win here.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: What's one easy win that I can begin to automate?
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: Help me envision it so I can do and tiptoe into this world, this new world, where the reality is that AI is releasing you to be more creative and more impactful.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: So here's the question.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: So this is not whether this is going to happen, it is happening, okay?
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: And so you need to decide, you know, everybody's all worried about AI and this is doom, it's gonna kill us and do all this.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: No, no, the truth is this you're going to kill yourself.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: We're all going to die, regardless, whether it's AI or or anything.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: We all die at some point, right?
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: Elon said that this week in a thing.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: We're all going to die.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: And so this thing about artificial intelligence, it's just fear.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: Fear of this new thing.
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: There's there was fear when think about this.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: When everybody was using horses and driving carriages and doing all this, and then this crazy guy shows up and says, You get in here and put some fuel in it, and it makes this noise, and it goes without a horse.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: And everybody said, No way, that's dangerous.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: No way that'll do.
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: There's no roads, there's no, there's no gas stations.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: There are no dudes.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: And in just a matter of three years, all those people that know I'm going to ride a horse, I'm going to ride my wagon from A to B.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: In just a matter of three years, that whole that whole reality was disrupted.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: That's all this is.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: We're in the same, we're in the same stance now.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: If you like these uh episodes, you're getting back.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: Do me a favor.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: There's a little thing down there.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: You can like, you can subscribe.
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: What does that do?
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: It tells people that you got some value out of this and it'll recommend it to other folks.
- 24:25SPEAKER_00: That's why we're here.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: Oh, let's start it with a robot, by the way.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: Hey, look at my QR code.
- 24:33SPEAKER_00: You want to talk to me, you want to get some of our resources, scan that QR code and it'll take you to all the right places.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: AI made simple.
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: We'll see you next week.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Same time.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: And that's a wrap.
