- 0:00The right to offend is not some pesky little part of freedom of
- 0:05speech that we have to put up with.
- 0:06It is the heart and soul and lungs of freedom of speech.
- 0:11It is the coursing lifeblood of human progress.
- 0:14It is the instigator of liberty and modernity and science and
- 0:18understanding. What a laughingstock today's
- 0:22student leaders are that they can so casually dismiss the
- 0:26right to be offensive without realizing that their lovely,
- 0:30enlightened lives are the gifts of individuals who gave offence.
- 0:35Offensiveness is not just something we have to
- 0:38begrudgingly accept. Offensiveness is the motor of
- 0:42human progress. Now broadcasting from the Right
- 0:46to Offend media studios in sunny South Florida, bringing you the
- 0:50latest in politics, current events, art and pop culture.
- 0:55This is the Whitfield Report live with Sam Whitfield.
- 1:00But giving offense is good. In fact, it's essential.
- 1:10Well, good morning and welcome to this impromptu Friday edition
- 1:17of The Whitfield Report live on Rumble X and now on Kik dot com
- 1:28as well. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to
- 1:32the show. I'm just going to be upfront.
- 1:36The entire purpose of this show here is to try out kik.com and
- 1:47you know, see how it works for us as far as streaming goes.
- 1:55And I apologize, I had my mic hot.
- 1:59Well, you know, I had the splash screen up, but you know, we seem
- 2:08to be we seem to be live now and, you know, going strong.
- 2:16So that's that's good. So anyway, welcome to everyone
- 2:27tuning in the live and hello to those in the chat.
- 2:34But I actually do have a little bit of a show today as well.
- 2:39Going to be kind of a short one, but a live 1 nonetheless.
- 2:51So folks, I want to start off today's show.
- 2:55We have, we talked about this, this children's or this kids
- 3:05protection act online on Wednesday.
- 3:10And basically, there are two things that are really
- 3:16concerning to not just me, but to a lot of people online.
- 3:22A the government is trying to, and this seems to be
- 3:27unfortunately a bipartisan thing for right now.
- 3:32This Kids Online Safety Act is basically the proposed
- 3:42legislation would be basically that any U.S.
- 3:45Citizen would have to basically give their ID, their government
- 3:59issued ID anytime that they wanted to access an adult
- 4:06website to view adult content under the guise of protecting
- 4:14children. And you know that this database
- 4:20would be essentially either available to, you know, your
- 4:29local government or to, you know, the, you know, the service
- 4:37provider, right, Which is really, you know, that might
- 4:49seem like a good, you know, aspect as far as like, you know,
- 4:56don't Condon goes to some people.
- 4:59But the problem is, is then you can enter the whole issue of
- 5:03what, well, what constitutes adult, you know, content right
- 5:09now, You know, the, the, the big thing seems to, you know, Oh,
- 5:16well, this is just, you know, to protect young children from
- 5:20going on to Pornhub and seeing, you know, inappropriate content
- 5:26on there, right? But, you know, unfortunately,
- 5:37the problem is, is that this, you know, Bill is way too broad.
- 5:45And, you know, adult content, as we pointed out, you know, on
- 5:52Wednesday's show for right now, it could just mean, you know,
- 6:00pornography, which I kind of have have an unpopular take on
- 6:07perhaps, you know, for some people in the audience.
- 6:14But it could also extend to things like, you know, video
- 6:17games, even like, you know, firearm, you know, related
- 6:25websites and firearm related magazines.
- 6:30You know, the left for sure is, you know, would try and shoehorn
- 6:33that in. And so I, you know, I think
- 6:39having these ID databases just in general is a really bad idea.
- 6:48And I also have perhaps, and I actually got some, you know,
- 6:54comments in my DMS regarding the show on on Wednesday because I'm
- 7:01not sure people under under really understand where my
- 7:05position is on this whole thing. So let me be absolutely clear on
- 7:11things, right? I understand that some people
- 7:19might have good intentions for wanting to support this
- 7:22legislation, you know, to protect underage children from
- 7:30viewing explicit content online. I understand as good intentions,
- 7:37but as the saying goes, the road to hell is paved with good
- 7:44intentions. And you know, this seems to be
- 7:56yet another. And of course, Rumble Studio,
- 8:15you know, it's going to kick me out.
- 8:22But anyway, as I was saying, ladies and gentlemen, the road
- 8:28to hell is paved with good intentions.
- 8:33And while I certainly believe that, yes, we should protect
- 8:45children from, you know, viewing pornography online, what I mean,
- 8:55we what I really mean is parents and guardians need to first and
- 9:04foremost be responsible, you know, for protecting their
- 9:11children from that. And teachers, you know, to, you
- 9:19know, to the extent as well, although, you know, given some
- 9:22of the literature that's been in schools, you know, for the last
- 9:27couple years, one could argue that that literature is, you
- 9:32know, pornographic. And, you know, that's a whole
- 9:36nother discussion. But Needless to say, like, yeah,
- 9:43there's this whole kind of argument out there and I don't
- 9:46know where people kind of come from this, you know, argument.
- 9:55I, I don't see where people draw these conclusions.
- 9:59But there's this whole line of thought that like, if you don't
- 10:03support this kids Online Safety Act that you somehow like think
- 10:09that kids viewing pornography online is OK and what not.
- 10:18And no, I don't think it's OK for kids to view pornography.
- 10:28You know, I think it could be, I think it could be be very
- 10:33damaging, you know, to kids to view that stuff at an early age.
- 10:40But I also think that, you know, playing violent video games can
- 10:44be, you know, particularly harmful for small kids.
- 10:52So yeah, I think we should protect them from that, you
- 10:55know, from porn and from violent content.
- 10:58You know, teenagers, I would also agree to some extent,
- 11:03shouldn't be exposed to that. However, this goes into like
- 11:08more, you know, this goes into more territory where like I
- 11:15don't think a teenage boy seeing a boob on the computer is
- 11:24necessarily the worst thing in the world either, you know,
- 11:30depending on, you know, depending on the, the context
- 11:35and like how explicit thing is. Like, I don't think Playboy is
- 11:41really all that bad, you know, in the ground scheme of things.
- 11:55But, you know, like I said, it's only up to, you know, the
- 12:00parents when you know, content like that.
- 12:04Should you know when their kids should be allowed to see conduct
- 12:12like that or like I said, violence would be a better
- 12:16example what this ID verification system would do
- 12:24for, you know, for the government.
- 12:29I don't think we necessarily even prevent, you know, kids.
- 12:33It wouldn't it wouldn't protect, you know, kids necessarily from,
- 12:40you know, seeing adult content. Maybe it would it maybe would
- 12:44prevent them from, you know, stumbling upon it like
- 12:48accidentally. But there are already tools out
- 12:52there to prevent that that parents can enable.
- 12:58And, you know, the private sector has done a pretty good
- 13:01job of that. But, you know, if if there are
- 13:06malicious adults out there who, you know, want to groom, groom
- 13:10kids, it's not going they'll find a way to, you know, bypass
- 13:25this, you know, alleged verification ID so it wouldn't
- 13:36run and protects kids. And then, you know, I think I
- 13:42think the bigger picture that people are, you know, missing
- 13:49here is, well, if you're requiring ID for, you know, porn
- 13:55sites, then you should also be required to have your government
- 14:00ID for social media and for your music streaming platforms like
- 14:10Spotify and Apple Music, which by the way, Spotify is already,
- 14:14you know, rolling out in some countries because of the whole,
- 14:20you know, why they got passed regarding all this in the EU,
- 14:26because kitchen be exposed to explicit lyrics either, right.
- 14:35So do you see where I'm I'm going with this?
- 14:41It's not just about, you know, pornography, as proponents of
- 14:48this, you know, are saying. This really does lead down a
- 14:54slippery slope that I think a lot of us are really unprepared,
- 15:06you know, prepared for. And I, I don't think people have
- 15:10fully, you know, grasped that, you know, today could today
- 15:21could be, you know, pornography, but tomorrow it could be
- 15:28orderly, your religious group. If it's, you know, considered a
- 15:47hate speech or something. And
- 16:04and apparently Rumble is not wanting to play nicely today, so
- 16:11that's lovely. But any who.
- 16:23So yeah, I mean, I have concerns about this and I think, you
- 16:26know, justifiable concerns regarding the censorship.
- 16:36Now I actually have a video about this that I want to, you
- 16:41know, go ahead and play that actually talks about the, you
- 16:49know, it talks about the, you know, ID registration for porn
- 16:54sites like in Texas and how much of a problem it's been.
- 17:03So this clip comes from the Linus I well, I know this is
- 17:11Linus Tech Tips. One of these guys is, I don't
- 17:16know the name of their podcast, but this is essentially their
- 17:20thing. And this is titled They're
- 17:24Making You Give Them Your ID. It's a 7 minute clip, but I
- 17:29think it's very interesting. And this is only from about like
- 17:33two or three weeks ago and it's very prescient into what we're
- 17:36talking about now. The Supreme Court in the US has
- 17:43upheld a Texas law that would require ID to visit some
- 17:50websites. Last Friday, in a six to three
- 17:53vote, the Supreme Court upheld a Texas law aimed at blocking
- 17:58minors from accessing online adult content.
- 18:01Which, on the face of it, sounds like a good thing.
- 18:05I don't think most miners need to be seeing that kind of
- 18:09content. However, like many potentially
- 18:16well-intentioned policies and legislation, this one is full of
- 18:21holes. And no, not all of them can be
- 18:25filled because we can't get to the websites to see it.
- 18:32Yep. The Free Speech Coalition had
- 18:34challenged the Texas law due to worries about the First
- 18:38Amendment being infringed upon. Justice Clarence Thomas stated
- 18:42he didn't believe that this restricts adults free speech
- 18:44rights, saying adults have the right to access speech obscene
- 18:48only to minors, but adults have no First Amendment right to
- 18:51avoid age verification. OK, even though this is now
- 18:56overturning decades of precedent and has the potential to upend
- 19:00access to 1st Amendment protected speech on the Internet
- 19:01for everyone, children and adults alike, said Samir Jane,
- 19:04vice president of policy at the nonprofit Center for Democracy
- 19:06and Technology. Yeah, this is because.
- 19:12And yeah, she's right. And I love Clarence Thomas, but
- 19:19this is an instance, you know, people ask why Max and I are so
- 19:25hard on the the baby boomers. And This is why.
- 19:31Because Clarence Thomas being a baby boomer, I don't think fully
- 19:37understands the nuance of what this means and how much of A
- 19:43slippery slope it is. Back in 1996 and 2004, as well
- 19:51as many other times, there were rulings that federal law at the
- 19:54time said it would be unconstitutional to have
- 19:57restrictive measures on content filtering.
- 20:00Several websites that would be required to have this age
- 20:02verification check are simply not running in Texas.
- 20:05As well as in several other states because they don't want
- 20:08to be the ones responsible for holding people's private
- 20:10information like driver's licenses, passports, and
- 20:13whatever other ID would be used to verify the user.
- 20:16See, that's the problem with this law is that I.
- 20:20Don't want that either. The government is not doing the
- 20:22work to make it manageable. They don't have a nationwide ID
- 20:29program for every man, woman and child that is properly
- 20:33administered and properly safeguarded and whatever.
- 20:36And I'm not even advocating for that as the solution here.
- 20:40I'm just saying that they are not doing the work and not
- 20:45putting in any kind of infrastructure that would enable
- 20:48these organizations to perform the identity and age
- 20:52verification checks that they are demanding that they perform.
- 20:56They're putting all of the liability on these private
- 20:59enterprises, all of whom are going to have to create from
- 21:03scratch some kind of solution to collect this information,
- 21:08validate it and store it. Which is I'm assuming they're
- 21:13sane. I'm assuming what they're hoping
- 21:15if I can make a if I can try to find an argument for them.
- 21:18Right now I'm assuming what they're hoping is that the free
- 21:22market will make a stripe like thing where the liability goes
- 21:27on a third party company that is very highly security focused.
- 21:32Sure, I mean that worked great for the credit monitoring
- 21:34industry. Equifax is awesome.
- 21:38TransUnion too. I love them both.
- 21:42Dude, what? I'm kind.
- 21:43Of surprised site is so garbage. I had to, they had a wrong
- 21:48address in my history and I, I had to, I like went in and tried
- 21:52to change it. And once you try to change it,
- 21:56first of all, it took me like or three times on the phone with
- 22:00them to stop my account from just randomly locking when I
- 22:03would try to get into it. And then we finally managed to
- 22:06get me into the account. And then it's like a separate
- 22:09portal to go and like register for a change.
- 22:12And then when I went, I finally got an e-mail saying that there
- 22:15was an update to my change request.
- 22:17And then when I tried to log into it, the page would error
- 22:19out every time I would try to go to it.
- 22:21I still don't know what happened with that, but I have never
- 22:24lived in Edmonton. It's it's been a wild saga.
- 22:30I. Yeah, I mean I the the.
- 22:31Thing that surprised me. The thing that surprises me the
- 22:34most is that there wasn't one of.
- 22:37That's true. Like how many times have the
- 22:40credit Bureau bureaus been hacked?
- 22:45How Max and I covered like earlier this year that the
- 22:52entire Social Security database or no, it was the end of last
- 23:01year, but but still it's, it's, you know, it's irrelevant as to
- 23:04what happened. But there was like a major
- 23:09security breach in the, in the Social Security website and
- 23:26millions of people's data got, you know, stolen and the
- 23:37government never did anything out and still hasn't.
- 23:43And yet we want to trust these people with, you know,
- 23:48government ID for, you know, quote, UN quote adult content
- 23:54websites. It's really really, you know, as
- 24:02more these would say this is ultra SUS behavior.
- 24:11So yeah, I don't I don't like this at all.
- 24:14But yeah, let's finish this up. These sites already queued up by
- 24:20one of the people trying to push for this bill.
- 24:23That's the thing that surprises me is that there isn't a
- 24:24solution that already at least sort of exists.
- 24:28I don't think they've got that far ahead.
- 24:29There's a There's a really interesting point at the end
- 24:32here. I think you're giving them too
- 24:34much credit. I think this is just classic
- 24:35well. Somebody.
- 24:37Please think of the. Children, I know, but as Elijah
- 24:41says at the end of this topic, I swear this prom topic comes up
- 24:45every month. I we've talked about the Texas
- 24:50one in particular, I think like 3 or 4 times.
- 24:53This is crazy. I don't have another solution to
- 24:57accomplish the thing that they want other than just clicking
- 25:00yes on a website and I don't think there is one.
- 25:02I I don't think so either, but like that's the issue is you're,
- 25:06you're supposedly, you know, anti government overreach and
- 25:14anti regulation, except when it's convenient or in this case
- 25:19like inconvenient. Like there isn't even there is
- 25:22no plan. There's no concept of a plan for
- 25:25how this could possibly be implemented.
- 25:28And look, I'm not saying that the adult entertainment industry
- 25:31is precious and should be protected at all costs at all.
- 25:36I'm just saying that if your argument is that they need to do
- 25:39this thing and you have literally no idea how you expect
- 25:45them to do it, how do you how do you legislate that?
- 25:51I like. I can't think of another example
- 25:53of something this stupid. And like, if you're, yeah,
- 25:55because I can imagine legislating something where you
- 25:58don't have the answer for it. I, I can't imagine that being a
- 26:00thing in a variety of scenarios. But in this scenario, the thing
- 26:05that you're trying to tell them to do is putting serious
- 26:08security risks on everyone involved.
- 26:12Well, yeah. So it's like you, you kind of
- 26:14know the only direction that they can go in and you know that
- 26:17it's bad, which seems not good. Yeah, I got to wonder what
- 26:27lobbyist is pushing this. Like who is who is asking for
- 26:32this? I don't know, genuinely unsure.
- 26:37Helen Lovejoy. That's the only possible thing I
- 26:39can think of. Who's that?
- 26:41Won't somebody? Please make up the.
- 26:44Children. Oh, that's actually, yeah, that
- 26:46is actually her. Wow, you're so informed.
- 26:49Am I? On The Simpsons, I'm.
- 26:51Sure. Yeah, Yep, yeah, pretty, pretty
- 26:53much. I mean, I haven't seen that.
- 26:55Yeah. So I mean, that's, that's the
- 26:57other thing. It it, it's really telling how
- 26:59like I'm not going to say all, I'm not going to say this is
- 27:04the, you know, the case for all of them.
- 27:07But like a lot of these, you know, admittedly, again, boomers
- 27:12and also, you know, Karen's and some of them were, you know,
- 27:17were Trump people. They were upset when Facebook
- 27:20and Twitter was censoring their, you know, their conservative,
- 27:25you know, you know, social media groups and justifiably so.
- 27:33And yet some of them are now saying, well, we need to
- 27:36restrict access to porn sites for children.
- 27:40And we need to have the government, you know, have
- 27:45everyone give them their IDs to do so or have these private
- 27:49institutions collect that data. And after all the abuses, you
- 28:01know, from censorship and privacy regarding, you know,
- 28:04social media platforms, do we really want the, you know, do we
- 28:12really want the adult industry or any other industry to be
- 28:16collecting ID like this? And by the way, they're,
- 28:19they're, they're all, there are already ways to like verify, you
- 28:26know, age for, you know, adult websites particularly like if
- 28:33you have an account on these sites, you know, most of them
- 28:38like, you know, they require you to pay to get in anyway.
- 28:43So you have to have a bank account, you know, where you're
- 28:48like credit card is tied to. And yeah, like they can tell
- 28:53from that that, you know, whether or not you're 18 or
- 28:57older. So again, this thing is
- 29:00incredibly stupid and it's it's a slippery slope that no one is
- 29:07focusing on on. Here's another take on the, you
- 29:17know, on the ID thing. This is actually a clip from a
- 29:26podcast that Mister Medicare was on back in 2022 with Clifton
- 29:36Duncan. Now, for those who don't know
- 29:39who Mr. Medicare is, Mr. Medicare, most people who wasn't
- 29:46to this show I know will know who Medicare is.
- 29:51OK, I know the vast majority of this audience does, but for the
- 29:59uninitiated, Mr. Medicare is basically a he's an Internet
- 30:04commentator from that was, was really famous like during the
- 30:112015 kind of a, you know, Internet commentary era.
- 30:22He's not really, you know, he's not really like political, or at
- 30:26least he he wasn't for a long time until the far left and the
- 30:32social justice wars really started to, you know, try and
- 30:36cancel people online for a hate speech, right?
- 30:42He got cancelled himself, you know, off of some of these
- 30:45platforms. Like he's banned off YouTube
- 30:48officially. He's been banned off of all off
- 30:51of all these other platforms. And so he's kind of like a free
- 30:57speech, you know, protections guy essentially.
- 31:04There's more to him, obviously, but in this context of which
- 31:08we're talking about, yeah. Like he's, you know, a free
- 31:11speech online advocate. And so he was on this podcast
- 31:15with Clifton Duncan about two year, you know, to almost, you
- 31:24know, three years ago now. And they're talking at the state
- 31:30of the Internet and Medicare brings up this idea of, you
- 31:36know, of online censorship under the guise of we must protect the
- 31:43children and how some of these legislate like lighters at the
- 31:48time. You know, they want to they want
- 31:53to require one to, you know, give their ID's to the
- 31:56government or to these private, you know, companies, but that
- 32:00they don't understand the intent, you know, how that could
- 32:04backfire or what the downside of this is.
- 32:09So I want to play this segment of that interview for you.
- 32:13And by the way, I will link this in the notes of the show because
- 32:18I do think this is that this entire interview is worth
- 32:23watching again. Again, it's, you know, Mr.
- 32:30Medicare with Clifton Duncan. You can look it up.
- 32:36But yeah, so this is Mr. Medicare and Clifton Duncan
- 32:40talking out. You know the slippery slope with
- 32:44government in private institutions online asking for
- 32:49ID like this. There are crazy people in the
- 32:56world, right? Very basic safety stuff.
- 32:58But now you look at kids and what do they do?
- 33:00Here's my full name on my YouTube page that links to my
- 33:03Facebook that shows you the class I go to.
- 33:05It shows you who all my family members are, the city I live in,
- 33:07the phone number I have, you know, I have accounts to give
- 33:12donations to, all my favorite streamers.
- 33:13And so they know my bank account information and my mom's bank
- 33:17account information. There's no anonymity.
- 33:20And we're heading for, you know, what I see as being bad right
- 33:23now will be 10 times worse within the decade because I
- 33:26think the movement will be for the protection of people and for
- 33:31the protection of children and for safety and security.
- 33:34We need real ID. And so that's going to be a back
- 33:37end system when it starts and they'll sell it to people as
- 33:40listen, it's OK. You can still call yourself, you
- 33:44know, sniper XXX 360 no scope on YouTube.
- 33:47But to have that YouTube account, we need your ID.
- 33:50And when you have a, a Twitter account with a different name,
- 33:53it also links to that ID and your Facebook links to that ID.
- 33:57So on the back end, if you ever misbehave anywhere, we know
- 33:59exactly who you are. So we can protect you, right,
- 34:04until eventually that gets turned front way, you know, a
- 34:06kind of front forward and everybody can see it.
- 34:09That's my fear. I, I know people think anonymity
- 34:12on the internet's a bad thing. I think that's a perspective
- 34:14that's very new and I think it's wrong.
- 34:17I think it allows you to express yourself and for all the
- 34:20terrible things you might encounter, you don't want a
- 34:23system where your, the spotlight's on you.
- 34:26And that's not even for outrageous statements or
- 34:29nefarious things. Just even talking about what we
- 34:31just talked about, about kids being stupid and doing stupid
- 34:34shit. They should be allowed to.
- 34:37Like, if you're a kid, you're going to do dumb stuff.
- 34:39You know, that's just part of growing up.
- 34:41And I don't think your life should be destroyed for it.
- 34:44Yeah. And you know, I, I, I don't know
- 34:46if we can put the, the cat back in the bag or you know.
- 34:50So, yeah, that that's basically, you know, Medicare's point and
- 34:55that's kind my whole point regarding this whole whole thing
- 34:58too. I, I don't think this, you know,
- 35:03effectively an online censorship thing really like is a good
- 35:08idea. I don't think it solves the
- 35:10problem that, you know, well-intentioned people have.
- 35:18Honestly, I don't think that the people really pushing this bill
- 35:21have, you know, good intentions with this at all.
- 35:27I do think it's purely authoritarian.
- 35:31So I am very skeptical of this whole thing, but I can at least
- 35:38see the I can at least see the argument of like
- 35:40well-intentioned parents wanting to protect their, you know,
- 35:45children from this type of stuff.
- 35:48And so to those people, I am saying that, yeah, this, this,
- 35:53this is not the solution you want.
- 35:57And it's on you to protect, to protect, to protect your kids
- 36:04from online content like this. So anyway, well, folks, I just
- 36:16wanted to, you know, test out the the the kickstream here and
- 36:24see how it it goes. We've we've been going for about
- 36:3340 minutes here. So yeah, I think I think that'll
- 36:48about do it. I know this is a climb shorter
- 36:52episode, but yeah, this was fun to try out.
- 36:57I think Kik will be good for us and hopefully you know, the
- 37:08video on demand archive will work well and in rate.

- 38:03Bits and Bones tonight at 10:00 PM with Morpheus over on his
- 38:07channel on Rumble. Anyway, like I said, folks, I
- 38:12hope everyone has a Good Friday. Thank you for tuning in for this
- 38:20stream. I'll, I'll talk of you down the
- 38:23road later. And take care, ladies and
- 38:26gentlemen. The right to offend is not some
- 38:37pesky little part of freedom of speech that we have to put up
- 38:40with. It is the heart and soul and
- 38:42lungs of freedom of speech. It is the coursing lifeblood of
- 38:47human protests. It is the instigator of liberty
- 38:50and modernity and science and understanding.
- 38:54What a laughing stock today's student leaders are that they
- 38:58can so casually dismiss the right to be offensive without
- 39:02realising that their lovely, enlightened lives are the gifts
- 39:06of individuals who gave offence. Offensiveness is not just
- 39:11something we have to begrudgingly accept.
- 39:14Offensiveness is the motor of human progress.
- 39:19Thank you for watching the Whitfield Report live on the
