Transcript
- 0:05Welcome everybody to Mom St. USA.
- 0:07My name is Jackie, AKA Wishes Mama and joining me back from
- 0:11her excursion overseas is my wonderful Co host Kate AKA the
- 0:16Disney Cicerone. And tonight we're going to be
- 0:18talking all things Disneyland Paris.
- 0:20We're super excited to share this information with you and
- 0:23Kate's going to give you her first hand experience on
- 0:26everything she saw while she was there, which is super exciting.
- 0:29So Kate, welcome back. Thank you.
- 0:32Maybe not. We'll share everything that I
- 0:34thought, yeah, we would be here a long time if we did.
- 0:36That's true. So it was wonderful to go and
- 0:38get to spend some quality time with my family.
- 0:41For those of you who don't know, we did like a really big
- 0:43European Tour. So we went to London and then we
- 0:46did a Disney cruise out of London to do Northern Europe.
- 0:49And then we went to Paris and then Disneyland Paris.
- 0:51So Disneyland Paris was kind of at the end of our trip.
- 0:54We were pretty tired by the time we got there, but we still had a
- 0:57pretty wonderful time seeing all the things.
- 0:59I'm doing, all the things. So I'm excited to share it with
- 1:01you guys. Yeah, I love it.
- 1:02So tonight we're going to kind of go over everything that we
- 1:07did together because I helped Kate plan a lot of her
- 1:10Disneyland fairest stuff before she went.
- 1:12But so we're going to talk about what that planning looked like
- 1:15and then Kate's going to give us some insight on what she
- 1:18actually experienced when she was there.
- 1:20So we're hoping to give you guys an insight.
- 1:22That way if you're someone looking to travel there or you
- 1:24just want to hear about it, we're going to give you lots of
- 1:26good information about that this evening.
- 1:28Yeah, I think it's really fascinating as a a Disney Parks
- 1:32goer, even if you're not planning a Disneyland Paris trip
- 1:34anytime soon, hearing about how it's different over there is
- 1:37actually pretty fascinating I think.
- 1:39So I think it'll be a great episode, even if you're not
- 1:42planning a trip anytime soon, to give you a little bit of insight
- 1:46into a little different culture of Disneyland Paris.
- 1:49So she started out by just talking just an overview of just
- 1:53like what Disneyland Paris is. For those of you who are like, I
- 1:56don't even, I don't know anything about it, so Disneyland
- 2:00Paris was formerly known as Euro Disney visual aids.
- 2:04You're at Disney when it opened in the 1990s and eventually they
- 2:11did change their name. Eventually, they did change
- 2:13their name to Disneyland Paris to try to make friends with the
- 2:18local culture because they they made a few cultural mistakes as
- 2:21an American company coming into Paris.
- 2:24So they changed their name to Disneyland Paris.
- 2:27It's located about 35 minutes out of Paris itself at the end
- 2:32of a train line. So you can actually take the
- 2:34metro in Paris and get hop on a train line and then get right
- 2:38out to Disneyland Paris and you literally get off the train
- 2:41right in the middle of Disney Village, which is kind of like
- 2:44the equivalent of their Downtown Disney area or Disney Springs.
- 2:49It's like their entertainment district.
- 2:50That's where the train drops you off, really.
- 2:53Right in the middle of everything, right in the center.
- 2:56There's there's bus transportation to some of the
- 2:59resorts, which we'll talk about in a bit, like right right there
- 3:01at the train station. So very easy to get around in
- 3:04that way. The Disneyland Paris consists of
- 3:07three parts. So there is Disneyland Paris,
- 3:09which is like the Disney park, like Magic Kingdom or Disneyland
- 3:13here in the US That is their main park.
- 3:16And then they also have Walt Disney Studios, which is kind of
- 3:19like Budget Hollywood Studios and California Adventure kind of
- 3:25combined. That's like that's how I would
- 3:27say it with maybe a little bit of Epcot thrown in there.
- 3:31It's a it's a very interesting part and we'll get more into
- 3:35that as well, but. So those are the the three parts
- 3:38of it that you'll see. The Village is really just not.
- 3:41It's not terribly big, but it has a lot of shopping and some
- 3:44dining options as well. So there are some unique
- 3:49differences that make it not the same culture.
- 3:52If you're, if you're somebody who goes to Disney all the time,
- 3:56you might be surprised by some of the things over there.
- 3:58So which I kind of said to my husband, Elliott, he said, I
- 4:04just feel like France in particular is just like maybe
- 4:08like 10 to 15 years technologically behind where we
- 4:13are here, which is really interesting.
- 4:15Yeah. It doesn't mean that they're
- 4:16like not advanced at all, but they're just like they just
- 4:20haven't adopted all the same things that we have for
- 4:22convenience. So.
- 4:24So we'll talk about how that kind of comes into play here as
- 4:27we go. But Jackie, did you want to talk
- 4:29a little bit about what we did, like before your trip, what you
- 4:32should, you know, how to plan for a Disneyland Paris trip?
- 4:35Yeah. So going into this, Kate asked
- 4:37that I kind of helped her do some of that research because
- 4:40she had a lot of other things to research with the other aspects
- 4:42of her trip. So it was one of those things
- 4:46where we felt a little flying blind kind of going into it
- 4:49because, you know, Kate had been to Disneyland Paris several,
- 4:52several years back and a lot, a lot had changed.
- 4:56And so it was one of those things were like, well, we're
- 4:57kind of starting from from the ground up.
- 5:01So I did a lot of just Googling to start.
- 5:05I found a couple different blogs that I ended up using that gave
- 5:08me a lot of really good like, baseline information.
- 5:11So the main blog that I use is actually called Mouse hacking.
- 5:15So it's just mousehacking.com and they had a ton of just like
- 5:19basic layout of like, here's the rides, here's what they look
- 5:22like, here's our suggestions for where you go for second, third.
- 5:25They had a lot of that already on their site, which was really
- 5:27nice. So shout out to them for their
- 5:29very thorough coverage. And then I pieced in some other
- 5:32blogs. I did a ton of reading, probably
- 5:3520 to 25 different blogs that I read through.
- 5:38Just trying to see, OK, this is consistent, these people are all
- 5:42saying these same things. Oh, these people are all saying
- 5:44completely different things about this ride, you know, So it
- 5:47kind of gives me an overview of like what to expect and what
- 5:50seemed like the trends there. I use social media a lot.
- 5:54I mean, you guys know, we're on Tiktok all the time.
- 5:56There are tons of people that do.
- 5:57Disneyland Paris lives on Tiktok.
- 6:00So I found a couple creators that I ended up really liking.
- 6:05You know, you you guys know how that is with with other
- 6:07creators, you go on and you you find the ones that are your
- 6:10vibes. So I found a couple that I
- 6:11really liked that were also very kind to like I would hop in the
- 6:15chat and ask questions about like specific things that Kate
- 6:17and I were wondering about. And they, you know, either they
- 6:20would answer or other people in their chat with injure, which
- 6:22was like really, really helpful. So that was, yeah.
- 6:25So that was huge to be able to help me with that aspect because
- 6:30there were certain things that I was like, I can't find this
- 6:32anywhere. So that was helpful with those
- 6:35types of little questions. I did use some Youtubes as well.
- 6:39There are. There are a lot more Youtubes
- 6:41than there are blogs. I don't always absorb Youtubes
- 6:45as well as I do when I can read things on print and I don't
- 6:49always have time to sit and watch a you know, a 30 minute
- 6:52YouTube from 5 different creators as much as I would want
- 6:55to. So I I skipped around more on
- 6:57YouTube but the blogs were really what I typically used.
- 7:00The thing that was tricky about my research is that not
- 7:03everything was up to date. I found a lot of stuff pre
- 7:06Pandemic. I found a lot of stuff that was
- 7:11like right after they reopened. So it was like, I don't know if
- 7:14that's still helping feel being run or not.
- 7:18So I did my best to find as close to current as I could.
- 7:22A lot of the stuff that I found was like 2022, so within the
- 7:25last year or two. So I felt fairly comfortable
- 7:28with a lot of that type of thing.
- 7:31I feel like the information that Jackie found was pretty accurate
- 7:34to what I I saw. There was just a lot of things
- 7:37we didn't know that popped up. And that was just in general,
- 7:41because it's just not out there or just not.
- 7:43It was just interesting to see what popped up.
- 7:47Right. And that was one of the
- 7:48conversations that Kate and I had was, you know, I I'm going
- 7:50to give you everything that I can possibly find.
- 7:52But I'm positive that there are things that I missed or that we
- 7:56just didn't think about or that we didn't know about or wasn't
- 8:00maybe as descriptive in our research as we needed it to be.
- 8:03So that way Kate and her family knew.
- 8:05What to expect? So, you know, lots of those
- 8:07little things. But yeah, overall I just a lot
- 8:11of stuff online that was really, really helpful for for the
- 8:16research that I did. Yeah.
- 8:19Well, that's great. Should we talk a little bit
- 8:21about maybe the hotels? That are there.
- 8:24So I'll, I'll do this part and then you can we can kind of pop
- 8:27back and forth a little bit. So you're not doing all of the
- 8:29talking. Yeah, I do have some of the
- 8:32pictures from at least two the two hotels that I was at.
- 8:37So I have a. Little bit of, yeah, perfect.
- 8:39So on Disneyland Paris property, they have seven different hotel
- 8:44choices that they offer and these are all Disney Disneyland
- 8:49Paris hotels that are straight through their website.
- 8:54So because they are further out from the city, they don't have
- 8:58like what you see at Disneyland and Disney World, but have like
- 9:00good neighbor hotels and other nearby places.
- 9:03This is pretty isolated to just those seven Disney properties
- 9:09they do have. They do have off site ones that
- 9:11have shuttles to them, but they're not walkable.
- 9:14In any way, right? So gives you a little bit a few
- 9:18other options, but if you're someone traveling from the
- 9:21United States to there, you may or may not feel more comfortable
- 9:25just staying at a Disney resort because it's a little bit more
- 9:28familiar to you in that respect and I.
- 9:32Kind of tried to navigate them and put them in kind of
- 9:35categories that would make sense to what we're used to.
- 9:38We're used to seeing kind of those value moderate deluxe
- 9:40levels. So at the value level or their
- 9:43lowest price point that they've got available, they've got the
- 9:47Disney Davy Crockett Ranch, the Disney Hotel Santa Fe, the
- 9:52Disney Hotel Cheyenne and the Disney Sequoia Lodge.
- 9:57So all of those are have a very similar feel and Kate can maybe
- 10:02talk a little bit about how the people over in France are just
- 10:06kind of they love like Western US culture and all of that type
- 10:12of type of OK. So when they were researching
- 10:16how to make Disneyland Paris and trying to figure out what what
- 10:20is it about American culture that people in France actually
- 10:23like, one of the things they found out was that they love the
- 10:26Old West. So there is a tremendous amount
- 10:29of the Old West or Southwest in Disneyland Paris.
- 10:33And I laughed out loud because when like the first thing that
- 10:37we saw driving into Disneyland Paris was this like this covered
- 10:42wagon and I'm like, are we? I know I'm from Oregon.
- 10:47So I was like, I'm literally like, it's like we just came
- 10:50home, but we're in France and it was so bizarre.
- 10:54So I will say that it's a little bit eerie, like walking around
- 10:58this resort. This one is the Hotel Cheyenne.
- 11:01So walking around this resort was a little bit odd because
- 11:04there was nobody there unless it was like everybody was leaving
- 11:08or coming in, but otherwise it was empty.
- 11:10The streets were empty. And it was just like they did
- 11:12the ghost town of. Exactly.
- 11:16That's exactly how it felt. And my gosh, all of their
- 11:19restaurants were not open during the day.
- 11:22So if you were just hanging out at your resort, there's no food
- 11:25for you there. You have to go take a bus or
- 11:27walk into the village because they're they only had their
- 11:31Chuck Wagon Cafe and like all these things open when guests
- 11:35would be there after the park closes or in the morning before
- 11:38they go out. So don't expect to have food all
- 11:42day long at your resort, because it might not happen.
- 11:46Yeah, yeah, That's a whole weird thing to me.
- 11:50But you know, this is what the the rooms look like at Hotel
- 11:53Cheyenne. And so it has like a queen size
- 11:55bed and then it had like it has a bed that actually has a cover
- 11:58on it, looks like a day bed and then has a trundle bed.
- 12:01But that did actually pop up and be full height like you pulled
- 12:04out, it would spring up and you could kind of roll them apart
- 12:07from each other, which my daughters loved because they
- 12:10wanted their own space, silly. Of course they did.
- 12:14But you can tell the theming is kind of like it's almost like
- 12:16value theming in the US like it's very like there's there's
- 12:19wallpaper strips for, you know, we did have a boot lamp and so
- 12:24my my son called it the Boot Hotel.
- 12:26It was really funny. Here it is.
- 12:30It's like because there's a snake in my boot from Woody, so
- 12:33it's just a cowboy boot. That's amazing.
- 12:36I love that. Yeah, So it was.
- 12:38It was, it was basic. It was what we needed.
- 12:41It was, you know, it had almost all the things we needed.
- 12:44And just like in the, what do you call it?
- 12:48Just like in Disney Cruise Line, in order to get the lights to
- 12:51turn on and off, you have to put your key card in by the front
- 12:55door, otherwise your lights won't turn on.
- 12:58So FYI, some people will bring like an extra old credit card or
- 13:04fake credit card or something just to stick in there so you
- 13:06don't have to be annoyed by having to put you a key card in
- 13:09there every time you come in. So you can do that on Disney
- 13:12Cures line as well. That's that's I don't know if
- 13:15they encouraged that, but we did that.
- 13:16Because it's just frustrating to have to dig it out of every like
- 13:21anyway. So, right when you, when you're
- 13:22coming back from the park and you've got all your bags on and
- 13:25you're trying to just get the lights to turn on so you can see
- 13:27where you're going. Right.
- 13:29Right. Where is it?
- 13:30Yeah, exactly. So, yeah.
- 13:32So a lot of those like value level, like I said, resorts have
- 13:35that kind of Western, Southwestern United States
- 13:39theming to them. I mean you can hear it in their
- 13:41name, Santa Fe, Cheyenne, Sequoia.
- 13:43So you get that you get that vibe from that area.
- 13:47This is my view at my window, which was the vegetation was
- 13:51very similar to Oregon as well. I think they're on the same like
- 13:54latitude around the world. So they had, they had Oregon
- 13:56grape and they had evergreens and they had ferns and I was
- 13:59like this is like being at home and it was so crazy, so crazy.
- 14:06So then they've got kind of your moderate or kind of in the
- 14:08middle level of resorts. They've got the Disney Newport
- 14:13Bay Club and the Disney Hotel New York, the Art of Marvel.
- 14:18So those are kind of your two mid range so to speak.
- 14:23And all of these you can find on the Disneyland Paris website.
- 14:25We didn't throw in prices on here because there's just too
- 14:28many variables with dates and how many days you're staying and
- 14:31that type of thing. But they are all very easily
- 14:34accessible on the Disneyland Paris website.
- 14:36Their website is fairly easy to navigate when it comes to that,
- 14:40Yeah, this one I think is that like what they was it the Yacht
- 14:43Club 1, Newport Bay Club Club, whatever, Like what?
- 14:47It looks like the Yacht Club, yeah.
- 14:49And so where I'm standing in this photo as I'm standing in
- 14:52New York, NY and I'm looking across the Bay at the other one.
- 14:55So they kind of all face each other.
- 14:58I would say the Hotel New York is an upscale deluxe resort.
- 15:02I would probably put it because it's, it is spendy price, price
- 15:06point. It's technically in that mid
- 15:09range. But yeah, it's it's borderline
- 15:12deluxe level when it comes to that because it is quite a quite
- 15:16a jump in price point from like the Cheyenne and those ones that
- 15:19we were just looking at up to that.
- 15:21And it's the the, the layout in the everything they have inside
- 15:26of that Art of Marvel is really, really cool.
- 15:28Oh yes, I have lots I can share about that.
- 15:31But I want to stop you if you have more who you want to share
- 15:36about, no, you're good, go ahead.
- 15:37If you want to share some more about the the art of Marvel, I
- 15:41think I'm going to plug in my experience as to why we had two
- 15:44hotels here, because I think this is really important for
- 15:47anyone who's listening. Yes.
- 15:50Please, please don't ever have the same mistake that we had
- 15:53because So what we what happened was we I booked my vacation on
- 15:58the Disney website. They sent me a confirmation to
- 16:01my e-mail. I assume they it said, you know,
- 16:04you have to pay by a certain date.
- 16:07Of course, I was balancing like a million different details,
- 16:09right. So it's like I was thinking just
- 16:11like Disney, they'll send me a reminder e-mail when it's time
- 16:14to pay, right? OK, so turns out all of their
- 16:19reminder emails about payment go to your spam folder and this is
- 16:23a known problem for Disneyland Paris.
- 16:25So they sent me like 3 reminders to make my payment and then they
- 16:29sent me something that said four days until we see you make sure
- 16:34you print this thing out. That was the title of the
- 16:37e-mail. But if I click the button in the
- 16:39e-mail to like print it, it says we're sorry we had to cancel
- 16:42your Disney vacation because you didn't pay.
- 16:45So that's what I found out the last night in Paris before we
- 16:50were going, I found out that they had canceled our entire
- 16:53Disney vacation. And I did cry.
- 16:58All because those emails went to my spam and I went there and so
- 17:05we didn't have anywhere to stay. We didn't have any Disney
- 17:07tickets because they're tied to your hotel, which we'll talk
- 17:09about a day. And we had nothing.
- 17:12And I that never happened to me before because it always
- 17:15depended on those, like emails to remind you to pay.
- 17:18Now it is on me that we didn't pay in time, the full balance in
- 17:21full. But I was also thinking in my
- 17:23brain, I have been going to Disney World a lot recently
- 17:26where you just pay when you get there because I haven't been
- 17:28doing packages as an annual pass holder.
- 17:30So somehow in my brain, I just like totally spaced it.
- 17:33So we got a last minute price without a ticket at the Hotel
- 17:37Cheyenne for one night. And then they the only room they
- 17:40had left in the entire complex for the other three nights was
- 17:45staying at the Hotel New York in their Empire State Club suites,
- 17:51which is like the concierge level, like crazy amazing
- 17:56suites. OK, so we paid a lot.
- 18:01Too much because we had nowhere else to stay except for off
- 18:05site. And at that point I was like, I
- 18:07can't do this like we are. We're tired.
- 18:10It was the end of our like 30 day trip.
- 18:11It was awful. However, the place we stayed was
- 18:16pretty amazing. So after we got over the sticker
- 18:18shock and paid whatever, we stayed in this amazing room that
- 18:22had a giant let's see if I can find a good photo.
- 18:26So this is what the rooms look like and they're they're huge.
- 18:30They've got, it's like a suite. So there's got two, it's got
- 18:33benches on the ends of the beds and it has two chairs by the
- 18:36window with a table. And then there's a big vanity
- 18:38and this giant mirror that actually has like a 70 inch
- 18:41television screen inside it. So your TV is behind your mirror
- 18:45and that's means, you know, that you've paid a lot of money to
- 18:48have that. So they also had all of our
- 18:52like, this is our vanity set. These all came came free and
- 18:56they're these little like beautiful designed little black
- 18:59boxes that sell, say, Disney's Hotel New York, Art of Marvel.
- 19:03They gave us like all the things we need to sell with 100%.
- 19:08I was like, we paid a lot. I was like, what can we take
- 19:11without getting charged? That's where we're at.
- 19:15So Elliot, it's funny because there's they have these really
- 19:17beautiful cups in there. I think I have a picture of them
- 19:21that came with our our little coffee maker that says the Hotel
- 19:24New York Art of Marvel. And we did learn that the water
- 19:27is free, but we can't take the cups, right.
- 19:30So he did go to the gift shop and purchase one.
- 19:33So we do own one now. But they did give us free water
- 19:36every day, which is nice bottled water, Stillwater as they would
- 19:39call it. And we did get like this, just
- 19:42like they do in the in the States.
- 19:43They've got shampoo and conditioner and body wash, but
- 19:46it's all like Marvel themed. It's very like masculine
- 19:50smelling, like what soap would Iron Man use that kind of what
- 19:54it smells like. So you, your whole family
- 19:59smelled like Iron Man for a few couple days.
- 20:01But all the art in the rooms was unique to the particular room we
- 20:06were in. And then the concierge level
- 20:08also included like a special check in area.
- 20:10OK, So we went, we rolled up to like the usual like Schwab's
- 20:13check in area, right, like the the sanctions and stuff.
- 20:16That's where we check in, because that's what we can
- 20:17afford, right? And they're like, Oh no, like
- 20:20you need you. You've got to come to the Empire
- 20:22State Club. Check it.
- 20:23I was like, what? Go around the corner.
- 20:26They have a whole room where you sit down at a desk and they have
- 20:29a personal person to like check you in and show you around and
- 20:32like demonstrate all this. I'm like, I'm I'm I'm not in
- 20:35that tax bracket usually. Kids what is this?
- 20:39I'm like, this is amazing. So they they did they had a
- 20:43personal, personal show us up to our room.
- 20:45They took care of all of our bags, which by this point are 8
- 20:48suitcases because we're really glad somebody else is handling
- 20:50them. Are you sure?
- 20:52You're like, yes, please take them.
- 20:53Please. The best part was they had an
- 20:56Empire State Club lounge. They had two of them.
- 20:58They had one where you could go and just get like free soda all
- 21:01day long. And then they had another one
- 21:03that where they had tea from 4:00 to 6:00 that was included
- 21:06and they had the most amazing breakfast we have ever had in
- 21:10our whole life. It was Marvel themed breakfast,
- 21:13but I'm talking like they had. I'll see if I can find some
- 21:16pictures. They had fresh honeycomb that
- 21:19you could like scoop off of the comb and put with your
- 21:22breakfast. They had all the French
- 21:24pastries, all the French pieces you can think of, all the the
- 21:26fruit. The watermelon had a Marvel's
- 21:28logo in boarding fruit, Our coffee and.
- 21:32Hot chocolate came with Marvel characters on top, so you can
- 21:36order a specific character. I I have my picture for you,
- 21:40'cause I was like, it was amazing.
- 21:41It was literally the best breakfast I've ever had.
- 21:44Here is little baby Groot on top of my daughter's hot chocolate.
- 21:48My word. That is the cutest thing I've
- 21:50ever seen. We're going to, we're going to
- 21:52need to post that on like our our Instagram so that people who
- 21:56are just listening to the podcast afterwards can see all
- 21:58of these amazing cafe art on here.
- 22:03Yeah, it was and teas and hot chocolates, it was crazy.
- 22:07So this ones like The Avengers logo as well, you could just
- 22:10kind of choose whatever character you wanted and they
- 22:11would just put it on here and things.
- 22:13So we had the fresh honey we had.
- 22:16They had all the pastries and things.
- 22:18Let's see if there's a little video here.
- 22:19But they had, they had fresh bread that they had made.
- 22:21They it could make you an omelette to order.
- 22:24You could have all the all the French things that you would
- 22:27never oh, here's the honey, look at this like this is crazy.
- 22:30You could either have the fresh honey that had dripped off of
- 22:32the honeycomb. Or you could have the actual
- 22:34honeycomb yourself. I was like, this is how like
- 22:39some people live, isn't it? I was like, oh, and then they
- 22:42had Mickey. They had little cake Mickey
- 22:45bread that you could have a lot of breakfast.
- 22:47It's like a little tiny. So it's what is it like a little
- 22:50tiny chocolate cake Mickey in the middle of the bread.
- 22:53Oh, that's so cute. Oh, my gosh.
- 22:56And yeah, so anyway, I could guess you about this breakfast
- 23:00for the rest of the episode, but I will just say that if you do
- 23:03stay in the Empire State Club. It's it's you get a lot of
- 23:08amazing things with it and it's only open to people that stay at
- 23:10that like concierge level. So save your money kids, and
- 23:16treat yourself to that that that whole service, Yeah, it was
- 23:22great. So anyway, I I won't say too
- 23:26much else about that except that because we were on this
- 23:29concierge level, you could also book private character meet and
- 23:34greets with any of like the Marvel characters.
- 23:37So you could just call and make an appointment and like go see
- 23:40Spider Man. And so yeah, it was amazing.
- 23:44Did you, did you and your kids end up doing that?
- 23:46I know you said they're not huge character people.
- 23:49Did you guys end up doing the that character interaction?
- 23:53We didn't do that one in the hotel.
- 23:55We did do the one in the parks. In the hotel, yeah.
- 23:58Yeah, very cool. Anyway, I'll, I'll just say that
- 24:01in the hotel itself, if you are a huge Marvel fan, like oh
- 24:05sorry, that one has a picture with my kiddo in it.
- 24:07They have just art everywhere. So you can go and see all the
- 24:12original kinds of classic Marvel Comics all over the hotel.
- 24:17So that's pretty cool. And the building itself, just
- 24:20FYI, is designed by Michael Graves, who is a very famous
- 24:24architect that Michael Eisner had him come in and designed
- 24:29that hotel. So it's there's one that's in
- 24:31Portland too that's like a very famous building.
- 24:34OK. So I'm like, it's time to say
- 24:36that, Yeah, yeah. Now a lot of that, like some of
- 24:39the artwork and stuff you can see in like the lobby and common
- 24:42areas or is that all in like the upstairs guest areas For that
- 24:45one, that was the upstairs guest area is a little bit more plain
- 24:49in the hallway. I kind of showed you the door
- 24:51which has like a the numbers with the red, that kind of very
- 24:54marble. They had like a big mural that
- 24:56was by the elevators. They had a a thing that like a
- 25:02photo booth that I can't show you a picture of because it has
- 25:05my kiddo in the middle. But that has kind of The
- 25:07Avengers. It's like you're putting
- 25:08yourself in a comic book, which is really fun.
- 25:10So even if you don't stay at the hotel, go in to visit it and you
- 25:13can see a lot of that art and take a photo even if you don't
- 25:16stay. At the hotel itself, I think
- 25:18it's worth a trip if you are a huge Marvel fan.
- 25:21Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely.
- 25:23So back to kind of what the other hotels that we were
- 25:26talking about, you're good. That was perfect.
- 25:29And I was wanting to see and you sent me a few photos.
- 25:31I was like I want. To see all of it too.
- 25:33I know, I know. Here's some of the designs you
- 25:35can get on your coffee. They're they, I think they even
- 25:37have like a 30th one for Disney. So if you don't want Marvel, you
- 25:40could have like Disney design amazing.
- 25:43That's amazing. So the then their top level like
- 25:48Ultimate Deluxe Resort that they have at Disneyland Paris is
- 25:52their Disneyland hotel. So that's kind of the top of the
- 25:56line, although it probably rivals the price of that, that
- 25:59concierge level of the the Marvel Art of Marvel Hotel as
- 26:04far as those prices go. But yeah, but that Disneyland
- 26:08Hotel is their top tier hotel that they have to offer.
- 26:11So 7 total choices that you have.
- 26:13And again, they range every budget to kind of like what you
- 26:16see at what we're used to at the Disney pubs.
- 26:18They've got the Hotel Honey Hotel and everywhere in between.
- 26:25So take your pick. Well, the Disneyland Hotel is
- 26:29not open right now. Just FYI.
- 26:31If you're planning a trip, they're renovating it, turning
- 26:33it into to like a Princess theme, essentially like a royal
- 26:36theme. So I got to see a lot of
- 26:37construction stuff on the windows and whatnot for that,
- 26:40which is kind of a bummer, but they're doing that just if
- 26:44you're traveling this year in France, just know that they're
- 26:47hosting the Olympics next year in 2024.
- 26:49So a lot of things in Paris and in France in general are just
- 26:53kind of under construction because they're trying to make
- 26:55everything look better for the Olympics.
- 26:56So just heads up for that. Yeah, and that includes a whole
- 27:00new Arendelle area of Disneyland Paris that they're hoping to
- 27:05have open. I believe both before the
- 27:07Olympics start. So they've got all sorts of fun
- 27:09things from Paris all the way to Disneyland Paris that they're
- 27:12working on for. For that event, Anna asked.
- 27:17The Disneyland Hotel, is that the one that's over the entrance
- 27:19to Disneyland Paris? And yes, so it's kind of like
- 27:24the big pink hotel. If you've ever seen it, I'll
- 27:26pull the picture in a minute of it, but the big hotel is kind of
- 27:29like at the entrance. Then there is a train station
- 27:32before you go in after that, just to clarify.
- 27:36But yes, that is the Disneyland Hotel and that's one that's
- 27:38currently closed. Like you can't go into it.
- 27:40All right. Now just looks like this so big
- 27:44pink hotel. And you can see there's a lot of
- 27:46construction walls around it right now, but there's also some
- 27:49beautiful fountains and whatnot in front of it.
- 27:51It's actually, I think when the construction walls aren't there,
- 27:54there's it's a beautiful place to take photos with your family
- 27:58as well. So yeah.
- 27:59Very, very pretty. Thanks.
- 28:02OK, So let's talk about tickets and kind of how all of that
- 28:05works with Disneyland Paris. The first thing I guess that we
- 28:09should just mention again is that when you book your resort
- 28:15through Disneyland Paris, your tickets are automatically
- 28:18included in that. It's not a separate thing that
- 28:20you have to select. They automatically give them to
- 28:23you. Yeah.
- 28:25And but so it looks like depends on where you get them from.
- 28:30Right now it's just it's 30th anniversary so it looks like
- 28:32this and it says magic pass on it.
- 28:35This one I got at the gate. Long story.
- 28:40This one if you kind of get your tickets outside of your hotel,
- 28:43no wait, this is the H1. This is the non H1 because it's
- 28:46printed on the back. As you can see they have all
- 28:49your hotel information printed on the back.
- 28:51And I'll tell you also what parks you can get into, because
- 28:54it's like all the parks included.
- 28:56As well. So, and you don't have a choice
- 29:00as far as like when you stay at Disneyland or Disney World in
- 29:03the US, you have a choice of, you know, you might be staying
- 29:05for seven days, but you only want 5 park days.
- 29:08You don't have that option at Disneyland Paris.
- 29:10They automatically give you those tickets for the length of
- 29:13your stay. Yeah, it's a it's it was really
- 29:17interesting situation for us because we did buy our first
- 29:21hotel that we stayed in the Cheyenne.
- 29:23We didn't have a ticket attached to that one because they didn't
- 29:26have any ticket packages available for one night.
- 29:29So you weren't. So we lost the whole day of the
- 29:32parks of our trip because of that, their e-mail error, which
- 29:35really stinks. But so we went into the park
- 29:39first and we learned. And they we learned as we got to
- 29:44the gate, they're just like, no, you have to check into your
- 29:47hotel first that has the package and they'll give you your passes
- 29:51to get into the park. And I was like, we don't want to
- 29:53walk all the way back to New York, right?
- 29:55So we're like, is there any way we could do this here?
- 29:58And they're like, well, you got to go to guest services.
- 30:00So that's how we ended up with, with two passes because we ended
- 30:03up having to and then and then it made it complicated when we
- 30:06went to check in for a hotel because they're like, what?
- 30:08You already have your tickets. Like, you're not supposed to
- 30:10have those. And so just go to your hotel 1st
- 30:12and check in, because otherwise you're going to create a
- 30:14headache for yourself and the cast members won't know what
- 30:17you're doing because. It's a thing.
- 30:19So yeah, go to your hotel 1st to get your ticket.
- 30:23And I will say as far as park reservations go, because I know
- 30:26that's a question that people ask because we are dealing with
- 30:29those in the US, they do have them in Disneyland Paris as
- 30:32well. But when you book the package,
- 30:34you don't have to make a park reservation because it's
- 30:37automatically done for you because it's linked to your
- 30:39stay. But now if for some reason you
- 30:42end up with that non connected ticket like Kate was mentioning,
- 30:47then that one would need a reservation if you're doing that
- 30:51ahead of time. But typically you're going to be
- 30:53booking that package with the resort and the tickets and
- 30:55you're not going to need to do a park reservation if that's the
- 30:57case, right. And it is really interesting
- 31:01that the tickets, they don't have any magic bands there, not
- 31:05at all. They don't sell them.
- 31:07They don't exist. It's like this doesn't exist at
- 31:09all. So no magic bands and no,
- 31:11there's no digital tickets inside your.
- 31:15App. It looks like I think I saw some
- 31:17people scanning QR codes to go in.
- 31:19I'm pretty sure that might be the annual pass that's there.
- 31:22But anybody who has hotel tickets, I showed them my
- 31:26tickets show up in my app, but they don't allow me to get into
- 31:29the park. So the way that you scan into
- 31:31the park, instead of having capsules with like a finger or
- 31:34whatever or like, you know, they don't have any of that.
- 31:37Instead, it's like the subway. If you've ever been on the
- 31:40subway. So you scan, you scan your card
- 31:42on like a little pad and it will like read your card that you're
- 31:46valid and then the doors open up and you walk through them.
- 31:49So that's how you get it. They kind of like the customers,
- 31:54just make sure you kind of like have one of these before you
- 31:56walk towards them and that's it. So interesting.
- 32:00Yeah, it's a different system. And I was like, it's interesting
- 32:03to me because they don't have my photo.
- 32:06So you I could have handed this to like Jackie if she had showed
- 32:08up and then like have a good day at Disneyland and she could have
- 32:11just gotten in and had a fun time.
- 32:12So a very different system than in the US.
- 32:16Not that I did that or would advocate for that.
- 32:18No, not at all. But that is interesting because,
- 32:21you know, we're so used to they scan a fingerprint or you know,
- 32:24that type of thing. That's so yeah, your cards are
- 32:27pretty transferable if you want to.
- 32:30So OK, it's not a tap style or a turn style.
- 32:33I guess it's a tap style. If you think of like you tap
- 32:35your card on the thing and then the doors open.
- 32:37So I guess it would be a tap style, right?
- 32:41Yeah. So no Magic fans the cards.
- 32:44And it's interesting that, you know, it gave, we stayed four
- 32:47nights, so we were supposed to stay four nights and then it
- 32:49would have given us 5A5 day ticket.
- 32:51So you could go on the day you get there, you can go on the day
- 32:53you leave. But I do recommend staying in a
- 32:56Disney hotel there, mainly because the hours are so short
- 32:59in those parks. Like it's like 12 hours is all
- 33:03you get. So if you are staying in a
- 33:06Disney hotel, you get an extra hour in the morning, you get
- 33:08that extra magic hour. And I think you really, you
- 33:12really need that to maximize your park day.
- 33:15Especially considering how I'll just say this now because we're
- 33:19talking about how Fantasyland in in Disneyland actually closes an
- 33:23hour before the rest of the park and it's a significant portion
- 33:26of the park, so you're going to lose time there to explore
- 33:30things and whatnot. So, yeah, but that extra hour is
- 33:34really nice and it's nice that anyone staying at A at any of
- 33:37the resorts has access to that. So kind of like the previous
- 33:42extra magic our system that we're more used to at Walt
- 33:44Disney World where it's kind of across the board, everybody has
- 33:47that extra hour in the morning, which is really nice.
- 33:51Yeah. And I will say that not all of
- 33:52the resource, not all the Disney.
- 33:54Resorts actually have transportation to the park.
- 33:56So if you're looking, I feel like one of the ones that was
- 33:59more like the campground ones, those ones didn't have any
- 34:03transportation to the park. So you either got to drive
- 34:05yourself or call it Uber or something, which is not
- 34:08necessarily reliable out there. So make sure you you are staying
- 34:12close enough to walk or have Disney transportation if you're
- 34:15staying in a Disney hotel so I could catch you off, yeah.
- 34:18And how far was your walk from the different resorts?
- 34:21Did you you did you walk directly to the parks from the
- 34:25Cheyenne when you were there? We took the shuttle in so it
- 34:30goes to the village. So it doesn't go to like the
- 34:32park. So it's like there's like 1 main
- 34:34bus stop which is also next to the train station.
- 34:36So we took, I took the shuttle, but it was only like a 5 minute
- 34:39ride and it's like a 10 to 15 minute walk to the Cheyenne from
- 34:44New York. It was probably less than 10
- 34:46minutes, maybe like 7 because I just walked through the village.
- 34:49It's on literally on the other side of the village is your
- 34:51hotel. So, yeah, I it's it's
- 34:57interesting because the buses aren't the same as the US
- 35:01because we're so used to order, right.
- 35:04We're used to this orderly kind of line up, we know kind of who
- 35:07was there 1st and we kind of let them go to the front ish, you
- 35:10know like that we have that like sense of order.
- 35:12They don't do that there. What happened was the bus would
- 35:15drop everybody off and then they would.
- 35:17Swing around to where they pick everybody else up, up and then
- 35:21they would open the three sets of doors and then everybody ran
- 35:24towards the bus. Oh my goodness.
- 35:27It's like every. Man for himself and you just go
- 35:31and some people. Didn't make it on like you just
- 35:33like it's it was crazy and the bus wasn't even like stopped
- 35:37rolling before. People were like rushing it.
- 35:39And I was like, this is chaos and honestly that's just kind of
- 35:42the culture there. So there's.
- 35:45The people in the UK are very good about queuing, but beyond
- 35:49that a lot of Europe. They don't.
- 35:51They don't care about queuing. They don't care about.
- 35:54Lining up and whose turn is it or cutting?
- 35:57That's not a thing. Like, they're just like I want
- 35:59to go, so I'm going, good luck to you.
- 36:02So yeah, since we're talking about that, I'll just mention
- 36:06that that that happens everywhere in the parks.
- 36:08So be prepared for people to cut in front of you, to jump into
- 36:12the premier pass lines when they're not supposed to.
- 36:15It's just like, I don't know, I don't know why it's a thing
- 36:18there, but I got really, I got upset by the last night because
- 36:21it just happened to me the whole time I was there.
- 36:24And some of the queues are like wider when you first enter them
- 36:27and then they kind of get narrower.
- 36:29So people, I guess. Think that you usually think
- 36:32like after you pass underneath the like the sign.
- 36:35You're now in line, right? We think that nobody's supposed
- 36:38to cross after that. That they don't think that
- 36:41they're like, Oh no, this is wide enough and I can still pass
- 36:44you because I have room. So I'm gonna.
- 36:47By the end of it, I was like holding my ground and I was
- 36:50like, excuse me. Tired.
- 36:53I was like elbows out. Excuse.
- 36:56Me. Don't cut in front of my
- 36:58children just because they walk slower.
- 36:59No thank you. So anyway, just expect that
- 37:02that's going to happen. Oh yeah, Len says Germany and
- 37:05Austria were the opposite. Queue is life.
- 37:07There are like European countries where it's like you
- 37:09queue and you keep order. And then there's ones that are
- 37:12like, meh, we'll do what we want.
- 37:14So France is one of those, we do what we want kind of places.
- 37:19There you go. And now you know.
- 37:20And now those of you in the chat that are are planning on a trip.
- 37:25Now you know. Get those elbows ready.
- 37:29Yes. Yeah.
- 37:31So then during the early entry, you've got some notes here about
- 37:34kind of the way their early entry works for park guests.
- 37:38Yes, there's just this very, we're used to a lot of signage
- 37:42in the US parks telling us where to go, telling us like, hey,
- 37:45this thing is cancelled or hey, this is closing early.
- 37:48Like there's none of that there. Just then just expect that
- 37:51there's no signs. So you will guess or ask about a
- 37:55lot of things. And every single morning I feel
- 37:58like we got in the wrong line for getting into early entry
- 38:02because there's no signage. We figured it out by like the
- 38:05second, third day. You know, like, okay, there's
- 38:07actual lines for this. These are the, like locals
- 38:09trying to get in. These are like the, you know, so
- 38:12we figured it out eventually. But so often when you get to the
- 38:15front of the line, they're like, no, you have to go stand in that
- 38:17line and we're like. No.
- 38:22So just you're very sure what line you're getting into because
- 38:25there's no signage. If there's a cast member around,
- 38:28you can ask them and they would. They should know.
- 38:30There's just not always a cast member around to ask.
- 38:32So sometimes we would send a. Runner to the front of the line
- 38:35to like, ask before we got in line.
- 38:37We learned to do that. So yeah, just saying it's just a
- 38:41different culture, right, right, For sure, for sure.
- 38:45So talking just generic general price comparison, because I feel
- 38:49like this is something that people are like, what is the
- 38:52comparison between the US parks in Disneyland Paris and how does
- 38:55that look now? Currently the conversion rate
- 38:59euros are fairly close to our U.S.
- 39:01Dollar. So that's good for right now.
- 39:06So these prices are kind of a general idea.
- 39:09I just like I said, I wanted to give you guys a breakdown.
- 39:12So if you're looking at just like a one day, one park ticket,
- 39:17Disney World, you're looking anywhere from 134 to 159
- 39:20Disneyland in California, you're looking 129 to 179.
- 39:25A one day one park ticket at Disneyland Paris is $67.
- 39:30Yep. So.
- 39:31That's that category. Now if you're looking at a
- 39:34Hopper Disney World, you're looking at 218 to 237,
- 39:39Disneyland California you're looking 194 to 244 and
- 39:43Disneyland Paris. For a one day Hopper, you're
- 39:45looking anywhere from one O 4 to 150.
- 39:49It's just what they quoted us when we were there for that one
- 39:51day and we only had 1/2 day left and they're like, it'll be like
- 39:54€100 and we're like, that's not worth it.
- 39:57For 1/2 day and they're like. I'd say we'd go swim but.
- 40:01Most of the places don't have pools there unless they were
- 40:03deluxe, so. Right, which we found out when
- 40:06we were doing all that research on those hotels.
- 40:10Yeah. So that just kind of gives.
- 40:13You that idea? Now let's look at a. 3.
- 40:17Day ticket. Just to give you guys kind of a
- 40:19more realistic idea, in Disney World a three day ticket is a
- 40:24three day single park per day ticket.
- 40:27So a base ticket is 4/25 Disneyland California's 360 and
- 40:32actually do not offer non hopper options past one day at
- 40:37Disneyland Paris. So, so you.
- 40:41Have to have a hopper. Once you get past one day, two
- 40:44days that you have to have a hopper option because they want
- 40:46to make people go into that second park because so many
- 40:49people don't want to go into Walt Disney Studios park.
- 40:51So that's their way of trying to spread out the crowds just by
- 40:54not offering a single park. Yep, exactly.
- 40:58So if you're looking at a three day hopper at Disney World,
- 41:01you're looking at five O 5 at Disneyland California.
- 41:04You're looking around 4:20 at Disneyland Paris.
- 41:07You're looking anywhere from 258 to 372, so.
- 41:12They their. Tickets are do fluctuate based
- 41:15on how busy they're going to be, crowd levels, time of year, that
- 41:17type of thing, just like we see in the US So those ticket prices
- 41:21when I was looking, I think we're like January ish when I
- 41:24was comparing across the board for all three areas.
- 41:27So you can see the difference. Now that being that being said,
- 41:32there's two parks at Disneyland Paris, two parks at Disneyland
- 41:35California, 4 parks at Disney World.
- 41:37So some of that price comparison, you know is because
- 41:41of that. But overall, your prices at
- 41:45Disneyland Paris are not terrible for sure, unless they
- 41:49cancel your hotel reservation. Which case?
- 41:53That's just all. And do you remember that those I
- 41:59pulled out those ticket prices, those are not your package
- 42:02prices for Disneyland Paris. And we did mention earlier that
- 42:04when you book your resort, those tickets are automatically
- 42:07included. I just gave you a ticket to
- 42:09ticket comparison because that's the easiest way to compare when
- 42:13you're looking at that because the hotels will fluctuate all
- 42:15over the place, but that's your ticket to ticket comparison kind
- 42:19of across the board. Just to give you guys an idea of
- 42:22what that looks like. That's really helpful.
- 42:25Jackie, thank you. Yeah, of course.
- 42:28OK. So another thing that they do
- 42:30have that we also have here, well have had previously here in
- 42:34the States for our parks are dining plans.
- 42:37The interesting thing about their dining plans that they
- 42:39have there is they have a lot more options for their.
- 42:44Dining plans than we have seen previously in in the States and
- 42:50they do use a physical like meal voucher card.
- 42:53So similar to kind of what Kate was talking about with those.
- 42:57Yeah, with those magic. Pass cards.
- 42:59That's what they utilize for that whenever.
- 43:03You go to use it so. They have kind of two options of
- 43:09the. Dining plans that you can do and
- 43:11then within those two main options are like sub tiers kind
- 43:15of the way that it's broken down.
- 43:17So they have what they call a full board dining plan which
- 43:20gives you two meal vouchers for lunch and dinner and then they
- 43:23also give you a breakfast voucher.
- 43:25So that's kind of how that plan works.
- 43:28And then the half board dining plan gives you one meal voucher
- 43:32for lunch or dinner plus a breakfast voucher.
- 43:35So they don't look at meals versus snacks versus any of that
- 43:38kind of stuff. It's just per like meal
- 43:42basically, just because their dining is done quite a bit
- 43:46differently in their parks and we'll get to that here in a
- 43:48moment and Kate I'm sure has some on that for us.
- 43:52But then within the full board and half board, they have 4
- 43:56tiers that you can choose from. So from bottom tier to top tier,
- 44:01they have, the hotel tier, they have standard, they have plus
- 44:05and they have premium and that basically just tells you what
- 44:08restaurants you're eligible to use them at.
- 44:11So if you book that lowest level hotel option, you're only
- 44:15eligible to use that at the hotel restaurants if you book a.
- 44:19Standard option, it opens up a little bit more, so you can kind
- 44:21of look at all of those on the website if that's something you
- 44:23choose to do when it comes to your eating.
- 44:26But so they basically have like 8 different options that you can
- 44:30choose from when it comes to their dining plans, if that's
- 44:34something that you want to do. Yeah.
- 44:36And we did when we were researching this, they also.
- 44:40So while we're researching like where we should go eat was was
- 44:44something that we that Jackie looked into.
- 44:47And then I decided to like book my own reservations which was
- 44:51silly because I had a million things to do.
- 44:53But so Jackie, I got to it late and if you get to it late, it's
- 44:57just like Disney World where there's nothing left.
- 44:59So book, I think it's 60 days out for them.
- 45:02Book 60 days out, like on the button.
- 45:05And if you don't, there is a great website.
- 45:08You do have to pay for it to get like, the premier access where
- 45:12you're likely to get a reservation.
- 45:13It's called DLP tables. I signed up for that because I
- 45:18was like, OK, clearly you're like, I messed up here and I
- 45:20need to like, try to get us some decent reservations.
- 45:22So I was actually able to get almost all the things that I
- 45:25wanted using that, and I just had to really be on my game when
- 45:30the notifications came in to book for my family.
- 45:33I do think that if you're not staying at a Disney World
- 45:36resort, there must be some sort of issue, 'cause I could only
- 45:39have like 2 reservations and it wouldn't let me book more than
- 45:42that. So I have to really look into
- 45:44that if I'm not sure that's true.
- 45:46But I had a really hard time. It wouldn't let me book it until
- 45:49I had a reservation. And I thought I had a
- 45:51reservation, of course, you know, so I'm like, what is going
- 45:53on here? But but anyway, we'll say that
- 45:58the the eating situation is is pretty interesting in Disneyland
- 46:02Paris. There is no picnicking allowed.
- 46:04So if you're a family who packs their lunch into the park or
- 46:07your dinner, that's not allowed in Disneyland Paris at all.
- 46:11So you can bring your water bottles and whatnot.
- 46:13And we did. My kids brought snacks in.
- 46:16I think they're not supposed to, but my kids like packed in like
- 46:18just a snack in their day bag and nobody said anything about
- 46:22it. So I think they probably see
- 46:24that quite often with children, but they yeah, no picnicking at
- 46:29all. There's signs about it and then
- 46:30the restaurants have really bizarre hours, so and.
- 46:36Jackie advised me to eat before 6:00 PM and that was great
- 46:39advice we made. Sure.
- 46:41We started looking early for a place to eat.
- 46:44There's not a lot of great food at Disneyland Paris except for
- 46:48at their table service restaurants.
- 46:50And I think that the culture is that usually and you just sit
- 46:54down and have your big meal all together at the end of the day.
- 46:57And like, they kind of expect people to almost be done with
- 47:00the parks by about dinner time, which is so.
- 47:03Different than American culture. We're like, go, go, go, right
- 47:05the whole evening. It's kind of like you have a
- 47:07leisurely dinner and then you see the show and then you leave.
- 47:10And that's like the culture there, right?
- 47:12So I think Lem asked me, is it true that every restaurant has
- 47:16wine, Every every restaurant has wine or beer or alcohol of some,
- 47:20some way? They didn't have that when it
- 47:23first opened, but the. Imagineers knew the culture in
- 47:27France enough because they've been living there to develop it,
- 47:30that they actually installed like places to store wine and
- 47:33kegs and whatnot in the buildings because they thought
- 47:36eventually they would have to. And sure enough, the people of
- 47:39France kind of like, yeah, the people of France kind of like
- 47:41revolt. And they're like, what do you
- 47:42mean? I can't have wine with my
- 47:43dinner? Like, this is just part of life,
- 47:45right? So they.
- 47:47Do serve alcohol pretty much everywhere throughout the parks.
- 47:51And then there's so if if your restaurants are like closed,
- 47:56Disney Village is the only place that kind of open light eating
- 47:59places. There's a two-story McDonald's
- 48:01and there's there's a new like almost like Rose and Crown pub.
- 48:05But it's not called that. It's called something else.
- 48:07But it just opened up recently that kind of is down there that
- 48:09everybody recommends, recommended that.
- 48:11When I asked like, where would you eat?
- 48:15We didn't eat a lot down there. I think it's a rainforest cafe
- 48:17as well. There's my kids ate it like the
- 48:19Cool Stop. So they had like Pizza Hut.
- 48:22Yeah. They had like that little
- 48:23convenience store that we found because we were concerned, not
- 48:26going to lie. And we were looking at because a
- 48:28lot of the things that I read said that there have been
- 48:31instances and it's frequent where people would be standing
- 48:34in line at these quick service locations and they would just
- 48:37close while there was still a line there and they'd be like,
- 48:39sorry, we're closed And it's like.
- 48:41Oh man, OK. So it was one of those things
- 48:44where like when we looked at at the different places to eat,
- 48:48it's like, OK, we're going to look a little bit everywhere
- 48:50because we want to make sure that you guys have options that
- 48:53you can. Go to, like, we were in the,
- 48:56like, Pinocchio Village House restaurant and it was like 630.
- 49:00But you think it's like the height of, like, dinner time.
- 49:03And they were closing their doors and saying, like, luckily,
- 49:05like, Elliot had gotten in with the kids and they were telling
- 49:09me you can't order anymore, but he was already in line.
- 49:11And I was like, OK, thank goodness we got here in time
- 49:14because, yeah, they just close all of the quick service and
- 49:17then you can't get any reservations for the table
- 49:19service. And then it's like, what do you
- 49:20eat? Because you can't picnic, so you
- 49:22can eat what what you can eat is.
- 49:26Sometimes, like the snack carts will stay open later or you can
- 49:29go into Disneyville like, which is super annoying if you're in
- 49:31the park and you're hungry. But they do have like crepe
- 49:35stands everywhere, so it's kind of like the churros of disease.
- 49:39They have like crepes. Where you can get a sugar crepe
- 49:41or a Nutella crepe virtually everywhere and they're really
- 49:44good, so I recommend those and they do have some.
- 49:48Popcorn stands. But their popcorn is a little
- 49:49bit different than it is in the US.
- 49:51It's not like the pop secret kind of like buttery one.
- 49:55It's more like lightly salted popcorn, but was really good and
- 49:59the refills for it though were expensive.
- 50:01Even if you bought the popcorn bucket, it was like 6 year old
- 50:03for a refill. So don't expect like cheap
- 50:05popcorn refills there. That's not a thing.
- 50:09That's a smuggling baguettes. I have lots of baguettes there.
- 50:13It's such a thing. A little too obvious in your
- 50:16bag. Yeah, the places that I loved
- 50:19eating the most with my family. We loved PIM's Kitchen, I think
- 50:24was like one of the best places we ate.
- 50:27And it's not like the one in DCA.
- 50:28If you're used to PIM's test kitchen, which does have good
- 50:32food too, but it has look this giant Oreo cake, that's awesome.
- 50:38That's. Kind of like the idea of like
- 50:40big and small food, right? Like, just like the one in the
- 50:43US, And they have this giant pretzel.
- 50:47With Jackie, it's a giant pretzel sandwich special
- 50:50sandwich. That's so cool.
- 50:52I think it was a burger or something.
- 50:55But no, this one was a sandwich. They had also one that was a
- 50:57burger that they sliced and then they also had little mini ones
- 51:00as well, which is really, really fun.
- 51:03But it was this massive buffet. It was a buffet restaurant.
- 51:07They did give you a little pretzel that they sent to your
- 51:10table and they hung up on the so you're you started your meal
- 51:13with a pretzel hanging at your table, which just made me think
- 51:15of Jackie because she loves her pretzels.
- 51:17I do. Love pretzels.
- 51:20And then they have just like giant, they have giant Brie and
- 51:24tiny Brie and then they have a whole assortment of just.
- 51:29I don't need. It I don't even remember half
- 51:31the food I have. Like here's a picture of my
- 51:33plate, the little ceviche things.
- 51:35They had little mini burgers. They had BBQ pork.
- 51:39They had these spring rolls that really good.
- 51:41They had, some of them was like really like gourmet food that
- 51:45was all just kind of like finger food, esque.
- 51:48And then they had, they brought your juice and little they
- 51:53called the little beakers and whatnot because it was like a
- 51:55lab, right. So it was, it was so great.
- 51:59This is and then this is my desserts.
- 52:00I have to show you my desserts. So they have this like honeycomb
- 52:03wasp cake and. A lemon like chiffon layered
- 52:08cake and then there's like a pecan one in the back there and
- 52:10a Key Lime Pie. And they were all very European
- 52:15flavors in the way that they were very light.
- 52:17Nothing was extremely sugary or extremely heavy.
- 52:20So even though it looks like a lot of frosting, it was all very
- 52:22more like either meringue or just like really light flavored
- 52:26dessert. So nothing was terribly heavy.
- 52:29So I would say if you get nothing else, try to get Pin's
- 52:35kitchen if you really like to eat and buffets or your thing
- 52:38like just go. It's really good, yeah.
- 52:41And that one. Is in Walt Disney Studios park.
- 52:43It's in The Avengers campus area and the other place I would
- 52:46recommend is the Walt's which is in Main Street, USA.
- 52:52And that one is basically themed after Walt Disney.
- 52:56So if all the food is Walt Disney's favorites but like
- 53:00deconstructed and reinvented into kind of like a gourmet way.
- 53:03Because if you know Walt Disney, he loved eating like chili and
- 53:07drinking V8 and gravy on everything.
- 53:12So he so they this restaurant. I'm trying to find some pictures
- 53:16for you guys, but it was just such a fun experience to see all
- 53:20of his like family photos on the walls, all the animation things
- 53:23that he did and it's very much designed after his style of both
- 53:28food and everything else and they had.
- 53:31I love this like the the butter of of Disney.
- 53:35That's like that's where the name, the name Disney comes
- 53:37from. So they have butter that's from
- 53:39like the region where his Disney name comes from.
- 53:42That is so cool. Tiny little, little.
- 53:46Touch that. Like, that's so cool.
- 53:48Yes. And I had like the chili, but I
- 53:50had it, it was deconstructed. So they gave me like a little
- 53:53ceramic thing of chili in the back there that looks like a
- 53:56can. And then they had like the rest
- 53:59of the chili fixings were kind of like the gourmet part of it.
- 54:02So yeah, it was. It's really, really fun.
- 54:06It has a lot of little inside nods to things that are in
- 54:09Disney history. So if you're a Disney History
- 54:11fan, highly recommend Waltz on Main Street USA.
- 54:15Yeah. And that was one that you didn't
- 54:17get waltz until like last minute for that one, because that was
- 54:20one that we were like we need to make sure that you get it and it
- 54:24it was. Like.
- 54:25Were you on your? Cruise when?
- 54:26You got that? Yeah, yeah.
- 54:28I was in port somewhere because I couldn't be like on the ship.
- 54:31I didn't get signal. So I was like in a port.
- 54:33I was like, it popped up and we had, we were like sailing away
- 54:36and you have 10 minutes before you.
- 54:37I was like, oh. No, but no.
- 54:40I got it in time, which was so good.
- 54:42And I'll just say the other place I know I kind of jumped.
- 54:45Yeah, you're good. I found you.
- 54:49I will say, I also I heard a lot of recommendations for Remy's,
- 54:53which is really cute place to eat.
- 54:55It has little like, looks like little champagne corks and
- 54:59things for your chairs and it's it's like adorable, like you're
- 55:02shrunk down to the size of the mouse and you're eating and I
- 55:04heard really good things about that place but that reservation
- 55:07was impossible to find. So that is at the, it's.
- 55:10It's at the exit if you imagine. If you're used to seeing the the
- 55:14ratatouille, like when you ride in Epcot and you know how you
- 55:16get out on the exit, there's just like a big wall there, that
- 55:19wall. Was all window looking into the
- 55:21restaurant there. So that's where the restaurant's
- 55:24located and I didn't get to try it, but people recommended it.
- 55:27And then the Coco restaurant that just opened, that's
- 55:31actually a quick service meal. If you're not going to do a
- 55:33table service, we recommend that one.
- 55:35It was actually really good. It was.
- 55:39I like. European.
- 55:40Mexican food. So don't expect American Mexican
- 55:44food, but it has kind of like a Curry flavor to it, and it's
- 55:48more sweet. So rather than spicy, that's
- 55:51just kind of the way that they do Mexican food over there.
- 55:53But they did have churros, and they actually weren't that bad.
- 55:58They weren't like Disneyland churros, but they were.
- 56:00Edible. And they came with Nutella to
- 56:02dip them in. So you know.
- 56:04Can't be mad about that, you know.
- 56:07So I would, I would recommend the Coco restaurant, but we did
- 56:11have, we have a that's where we did click and collect.
- 56:15Should we talk about that for a second?
- 56:17Let's do that. So when we were looking into
- 56:19like do they mobile order, do they not it basically?
- 56:23What the all that we could find was that they said yes, we have
- 56:26this and they call it click and collect and it's available at
- 56:30but like limited locations. I think that's what it said when
- 56:33we were looking into it. So we're like OK, well that
- 56:35works. It's got to be, you know, just
- 56:37in the app like we're used to that Disney does.
- 56:40But Kate? Had a very difficult experience
- 56:42with clicking collect, yeah, I will say.
- 56:45This is what the chores look like.
- 56:47The little like use that you would dip into with that
- 56:50Nutella. Yeah, so with clicking collect,
- 56:54Elliot is. Usually the one who orders our
- 56:55food. So he's the one that did this
- 56:57and God bless him because he's not like a huge technology
- 57:00person, but he did figure it out.
- 57:02So we were all expecting, we did order it in the app, the
- 57:06Disneyland Paris app, But we were expecting like in the app
- 57:10you can go and see your mobile orders or it will like pop up
- 57:13and say like say that I'm here. Like all the things that we're
- 57:15used to at the Disney parks, like it doesn't do that.
- 57:17But it does is it sends an e-mail to your e-mail address
- 57:22and in your e-mail address you hit a button that kind of says,
- 57:24like prepare my order essentially so.
- 57:28It took us a while to figure out that that was where that went,
- 57:30because we're like, where did our order go?
- 57:32We know we made it and then when we went.
- 57:34To go pick it up, the lines were like, super ambiguous.
- 57:37There wasn't like great signage. We're like, we know we saw it
- 57:40over the window, but it could have been like this line for
- 57:42this line. And Elliot asked and somebody
- 57:45sent him in like this line. But then there was some people
- 57:47like that were at the window saying, like, well, they sent me
- 57:50over here, but they shouldn't have been here.
- 57:51And it was very confusing. Oh no.
- 57:54We did get our food and it was all wrecked when we did get it.
- 57:57So it does work, but it's a little bit quirky.
- 58:00And I don't think all of the cast members quite know how to
- 58:03use it so. So maybe it's a?
- 58:07Newer. Thing with.
- 58:10What they've. Been.
- 58:11Working on there's that, you know how Kate mentioned earlier
- 58:15that they're a little behind us technologically.
- 58:18There is a prime. Example.
- 58:20Yeah. That in the tickets not being on
- 58:22the app, which just blew my mind, I was like, well you know
- 58:25tickets aren't in our app, right?
- 58:28That's great. So, yeah.
- 58:30So in terms of food, other places, there's not a lot of
- 58:34places that the menus looked about great to us, like and
- 58:37Ellie, it's like a huge foodie. So he was like, I don't know, we
- 58:42could eat that if we had to. It's kind of how we felt about a
- 58:45lot of the restaurants there. Yeah.
- 58:47And I kind of warned Kate, but that was the research that I did
- 58:50was the food is not good. So I had an orange Kate, like,
- 58:53OK, you're going to have to prep Elliot because I knew how big of
- 58:56a foodie he was. I was like, you're going to have
- 58:58to prep him that it's it's not going to be great,
- 59:01unfortunately. No, but luckily we've had those
- 59:04table service meals. We had enough.
- 59:05And the breakfast at our hotel that was amazing.
- 59:08Like he got to start his day with that breakfast.
- 59:10Like, I don't usually eat breakfast that often, but he
- 59:12went to go get it every day. So he took advantage of that and
- 59:15I think that really even things out for him, well, that.
- 59:18Works because we weren't. Sure, exactly.
- 59:20What breakfast was going to look like going into it with what we
- 59:22knew was available and not available.
- 59:24So you know, it worked out. I know.
- 59:27I don't know. If we would have had much
- 59:29breakfast, I think they did have a restaurant that opened up for
- 59:31something at the Cheyenne in the morning, but we weren't there
- 59:35long enough. There was a Starbucks there.
- 59:37So we probably could have gotten something from Starbucks every
- 59:39day. But that's financially not
- 59:41really a win. And also it's like not
- 59:44necessarily the healthiest depending on what you get, So,
- 59:46right. Yeah, absolutely.
- 59:48Yeah. So that's kind of in a nutshell
- 59:51what the dining was like. Sorry, that was a lot but.
- 59:56OK, let's talk about something else that we can compare kind of
- 59:59across parks and that is the Genie Plus Lightning Lane Fast
- 1:00:04Pass system. So Disneyland Paris does have a
- 1:00:08system for shortening your your wait time.
- 1:00:11They do call it the Disney Premier Access Pass.
- 1:00:15And that is, they've got a couple different options on how
- 1:00:17they utilize this. So you can use the Access one
- 1:00:21option which is a pay by attraction option and the.
- 1:00:26Way that that works is they do limit 3 per guest per day.
- 1:00:31So if you do that option you only have the ability to
- 1:00:34purchase three different rides and they have to be different
- 1:00:38rides. You can't purchase the same ride
- 1:00:39three times or that type of thing.
- 1:00:41It gives you an hour return window, which is what we're all
- 1:00:44kind of used to when it comes to those types of things.
- 1:00:47And the prices do vary based on the ride.
- 1:00:50So this is very similar to the individual lightning lanes that
- 1:00:53we're used to in the US parks where the prices range based on
- 1:00:57the. The attraction so the euro
- 1:01:01prices. Are anywhere from 5 to 13, so
- 1:01:03about 5:50 to 1375 S to speak with the USUS exchange rates.
- 1:01:09Like I said, the Euros are very close to the US dollar right
- 1:01:12now, so that is kind of the first option that they have if
- 1:01:16you only want to use it for select number of rides.
- 1:01:20Not every ride is included in that.
- 1:01:21It is a limited number of rides in the parks that they do offer
- 1:01:26that service for. The second option is the Access
- 1:01:31Ultimate option which is a pay by day option and you get 1.
- 1:01:36Ride per attraction that is included on there, so you're
- 1:01:39still only able to utilize it to ride each attraction once.
- 1:01:43That does give you the ability to join those queues at any
- 1:01:46time, so it doesn't give you a return window like the other
- 1:01:49option does. You can just get in those lines
- 1:01:51at any point with that pass the price.
- 1:01:54For that ranges anywhere from, in U.S. dollars, 95 to 200 per
- 1:02:01person per day. And those prices do fluctuate
- 1:02:04depending on the crowd level. Yeah, So that price option where
- 1:02:08you have to pay per day is very, very costly.
- 1:02:11When you look at even just two people going, if you're going
- 1:02:14during those busy times, it's going to be $200.00 per person
- 1:02:18on top of what you're already paying for your tickets and your
- 1:02:21package and all that type of thing.
- 1:02:22So those are the two options that they have when it comes to
- 1:02:26their fast pass lightning lane system.
- 1:02:29And we did not see a lot of people using it like it's not
- 1:02:33like a steady long stream of like lightning lane people.
- 1:02:36It was like here and there. There was a couple people going
- 1:02:40in that side and I did hear one of those guys that tried to like
- 1:02:44cut me off in one of the lines was standing behind me and he
- 1:02:47was like he was speaking French. But I understand enough that I
- 1:02:50couldn't understand what he's saying.
- 1:02:51He was just like non-stop complaining about how long the
- 1:02:54line was. It was like a 30 minute line.
- 1:02:55Like less in the US were like this is no big deal, right?
- 1:02:58It's like Thunder Mountain. So we're like, OK, really?
- 1:03:01Like he was basically saying, like, I can't believe this line
- 1:03:03is so long and how come we can't get that premier access pass.
- 1:03:06And like, he was just like going off in French.
- 1:03:08And I was like, OK, this guys had a.
- 1:03:10Bad day. That's right.
- 1:03:11I was trying to cut the line right.
- 1:03:14Right. So yeah, so they do have those
- 1:03:16options. But like Kate said, it doesn't
- 1:03:17seem like it's often utilized. I mean it's a really high price
- 1:03:22point. I mean I could understand maybe
- 1:03:24the access one if there's a specific ride that like you it's
- 1:03:29that ride is the make or break for your your group.
- 1:03:32You may decide to splurge and do one you know here or there.
- 1:03:35But overall from what I've seen and I think what Kate
- 1:03:39experienced, it's it's not really necessary if you kind of
- 1:03:42plan your day accordingly. No, there was only 2 lines that
- 1:03:48we. Waited in that were extremely
- 1:03:50long and one was the crushes coaster line in Walt Disney
- 1:03:55Studios park. I think because it's like a
- 1:03:56newer one and it crushes coaster.
- 1:03:58If you're not familiar with it, it's kind of like.
- 1:04:01A less themed Guardians like the one in Epcot where the roller
- 1:04:06coaster will like, turn, so it's kind of like you're going on
- 1:04:10the. EAC and they're like being spun
- 1:04:12in the water and stuff. It's kind of, but it's really,
- 1:04:15there's not much of A theme to it.
- 1:04:16It's cute and it was fun, but we waited like 65 minutes for it.
- 1:04:21Oh gosh. And it was a long line.
- 1:04:23And my kids are like, they just hate it now because they're
- 1:04:26like, they had to wait for so long.
- 1:04:28And I like, don't blame them, but the other one was Peter Pan.
- 1:04:32But it could have Peter Pan. Always puts a long line no
- 1:04:35matter what park you're in. It just does because it's slow
- 1:04:37loading and I feel like it was extra long the day we were there
- 1:04:41because it just opened up after a refurb.
- 1:04:43So I don't know if it's always that long.
- 1:04:45It was extremely long. It was that was another hour
- 1:04:48long wait for us and my kids were not happy.
- 1:04:50But it's fun. Right.
- 1:04:53Exactly. Exactly, exactly.
- 1:04:56So yeah, so depending on your budget would depend on whether
- 1:04:59or not that's something that you choose to utilize another thing
- 1:05:02depending on. Sorry, go ahead.
- 1:05:03Did you have more to add about that?
- 1:05:04I will just say that the some of the big rides that usually have
- 1:05:08long lines in other parks don't necessarily have as long lines
- 1:05:12there like Space Mountain because it's a more intense.
- 1:05:16Roller coaster that kind of like goes upside down and it's it's
- 1:05:19it's more like rock and roller coaster if you're familiar with
- 1:05:22that. So not as many people want to go
- 1:05:25on it because it's so extreme. So the the wait for it actually
- 1:05:29isn't this long, which is good and bad.
- 1:05:31I guess, depending on who you are, so right.
- 1:05:34Yeah. Well, when that.
- 1:05:35Was one of your kiddos top rides?
- 1:05:37I'm sure that was very helpful for you guys.
- 1:05:42So he was in heaven. But, and I will say too that if
- 1:05:45they do have some way that they need to make it up to you to
- 1:05:51skip some lines in the park. We did, we were given because
- 1:05:54they felt so bad for the hours that I spent sorting everything
- 1:05:57else. They did give us a couple of
- 1:05:58classes and this is what they look like for being able to go
- 1:06:03in the perimeter access line. So they do.
- 1:06:05That's just thought it was interesting there.
- 1:06:08It's in French and in English and in German.
- 1:06:10So there's three languages on it, and they have to write the
- 1:06:15number of guests and the attraction.
- 1:06:16It's only good for that one attraction.
- 1:06:18So it's interesting. It's not digital, you know, like
- 1:06:20you think in the US they would just add it to your magic band
- 1:06:22or whatever. It's like, right?
- 1:06:23It's all paper. It's all paper.
- 1:06:25Very different. Yeah.
- 1:06:27That is very interesting. Yeah.
- 1:06:29No, you're good. So then they do also offer
- 1:06:32talking about extra costs to your package.
- 1:06:33They do offer their photo pass option as well.
- 1:06:38It's very vague the descriptions that they have on their website.
- 1:06:41So if you're someone who goes through and purchases it and
- 1:06:43gets more information, please share it with us because it was
- 1:06:46very hard to find without like actually physically purchasing
- 1:06:49it myself. But the cost is approximately
- 1:06:51$75 and from what I read, it's good for 10 days for that cost.
- 1:06:56So 10 days worth of park days for that $75.00 to utilize that
- 1:07:01photo pass. But there doesn't seem to be
- 1:07:03like there's not photo pass photographers just like hanging
- 1:07:06out anywhere to take your photo. Like there's not a whole stream
- 1:07:09right down Main Street. There's not in every little
- 1:07:11pocket to take your picture like they might be with the
- 1:07:14characters. We didn't.
- 1:07:15There was there was there was one of the characters because we
- 1:07:18did for one character we went to see and then there's the ride
- 1:07:22photos that have a little number on them.
- 1:07:23And what I showed you guys is that they have watermarks on
- 1:07:27them pretty heavily. So yeah, like I took a picture
- 1:07:29of it because I was like I'm not going to buy this package, but
- 1:07:32there was a lock on the center and then a whole bunch of
- 1:07:34Mickey's over it. So you really can't see much of
- 1:07:36your family. So that's how they keep it from
- 1:07:40people. Not so.
- 1:07:41They have to go and there is actually physical places to go
- 1:07:44buy that photo after the ride, like there used to be in the
- 1:07:47Disney parks. They'll still exist in
- 1:07:49Disneyland Paris. I mean, I kind of love that.
- 1:07:52That's a fun, you know, like you think of like going to theme
- 1:07:55parks, so you get to like bring the photo home with you, you
- 1:07:57know. So I don't mind that.
- 1:07:59I think that's I'd like to have the digital as well.
- 1:08:03Right. Like, I'd like to have the
- 1:08:04digital version as well, because it's just much easier to keep
- 1:08:06track of that way. But it's a fun option to have
- 1:08:08that the ability to print those in the parks, yeah.
- 1:08:11Yeah, it was fun that we didn't buy them because we had enough
- 1:08:15stuff to carry. I don't blame you for that.
- 1:08:19So yeah, so about $75.00 from what I could see for up to 10
- 1:08:24days. So that's your other kind of
- 1:08:26extra add on if you choose to with your package deal.
- 1:08:30And then I think we already talked a little bit about the
- 1:08:33whole package reservation process.
- 1:08:34Is there anything else with that Kate that you wanted to add on?
- 1:08:37No. Just be be really, really aware
- 1:08:40that you for your due date to make sure that you don't miss it
- 1:08:44like I did and then have them cancel your whole trip because
- 1:08:47that's just awful. So just, you know, be very aware
- 1:08:51of that due date on the first e-mail, because their next
- 1:08:53e-mail you can't guarantee it's going to land in your inbox.
- 1:08:56It went land in your spam. And.
- 1:09:00Or. If you're someone that
- 1:09:01frequently checks your spam inbox, good for you.
- 1:09:04Who does that? I know well.
- 1:09:08I even explained to them I was. Like I was also at C the day
- 1:09:11that they canceled it. I was literally at C with no
- 1:09:14Internet. I like couldn't even get any of
- 1:09:16the emails that they sent to my spam folder.
- 1:09:18Like saying like you need to pay those in the next 24.
- 1:09:20I was on the Disney cruise so I couldn't get it.
- 1:09:23So like, even if I had seen it, I couldn't see right there
- 1:09:26wasn't. Anything you.
- 1:09:27Could have done. About it.
- 1:09:28It was a perfect storm. Bad things.
- 1:09:30Yes, it was. Shall we talk about some rides?
- 1:09:34Yes, let's talk about rides. Yes, this is the fun.
- 1:09:38Part of all of the research that we got to do because I.
- 1:09:41Watched a bunch. Of point of view videos of rides
- 1:09:44and we researched the map and looked at where everything was
- 1:09:49and all of that. That's that's that's the best
- 1:09:50part in my opinion. So this was the fun part, yes.
- 1:09:54So Disneyland Paris, let's talk about that park first.
- 1:09:58So I've already mentioned the Space Mountain is kind of like
- 1:10:01the rock and roller coaster way more intense and it's actually
- 1:10:05not in Tomorrowland because Tomorrowland doesn't exist
- 1:10:07there. They have what they call
- 1:10:09Discovery Land and Discovery Land is themed after inventors
- 1:10:16of the past is basically what it looks like.
- 1:10:18I think I have a picture of the Discovery Land.
- 1:10:21This is actually based on a a whole land that Tony Baxter
- 1:10:24designed for Disneyland but never ended up getting built
- 1:10:28there. And so he brought the concept
- 1:10:30over to Disneyland Paris. So everything's kind of like
- 1:10:34steampunk themed. And they do have like the
- 1:10:37Nautilus and Space Mountain has if anybody is a Jewels Fern fan,
- 1:10:43they have the Columbia that will like launch you to out to the
- 1:10:46moon on top of Space Mountain. So it looks like people are
- 1:10:49actually going at that tube on the side of Space Mountain and
- 1:10:52looks like they're getting launched into space.
- 1:10:55That's so cool. Really.
- 1:10:56Fun, Yeah. It's a really unique looking
- 1:10:59place. And then they have the Hyperion
- 1:11:02airship and they have Vidiopolis.
- 1:11:04If anybody, if anybody remembers Vidiopolis and Disneyland, they
- 1:11:07have a Vidiopolis there. It's just like a big theater and
- 1:11:10they found actually really good tip for families.
- 1:11:13If you're looking for a place to sit down in the shade, it seems
- 1:11:16like during the day there there's just open.
- 1:11:19Seating and they're they play like Mickey cartoons and they
- 1:11:22they go between English and French with subtitles of the
- 1:11:25other language. I love that.
- 1:11:27That's awesome. So my kids, like, I know the
- 1:11:30bathroom lines are really long, almost everywhere there.
- 1:11:32So there's a bathroom in there. So while we like some of us were
- 1:11:35waiting for the bathroom, the other people just sat down and
- 1:11:37waited and and we could watch the Mickey cartoons and whatnot,
- 1:11:41which was really fun. So that's a great place to get
- 1:11:43out if it's if it's hot outside or you just need to get out of
- 1:11:46the crowds a little bit and spread out.
- 1:11:47There's a lot of seating in there.
- 1:11:49It's just a giant theater where nothing's going on.
- 1:11:51So that's helpful. Yes, in terms of other rides, I
- 1:11:59should mention Space Mountain is also currently Hyperspace
- 1:12:02Mountain is the actual deal of the ride itself.
- 1:12:04So if you're a Star Wars fan, it's a great one.
- 1:12:06It's definitely different than the one that's in Disneyland
- 1:12:09when they have that Hyperspace Mountain, so they're not the
- 1:12:11same. It is a tough ride too if you
- 1:12:14have motion sickness I. Only ran out at once and I was
- 1:12:17like, I'm proud. Of you for?
- 1:12:19Going out at once though. Tried it and then they do also
- 1:12:25have the Nautilus there and. If anybody remembers the
- 1:12:28Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, it's not the
- 1:12:31submarine ride like we used to have in Disney World, but it is
- 1:12:36a walkthrough attraction like they used to have in Disneyland,
- 1:12:39where you go inside like Captain Nemo's like Captain's Quarters
- 1:12:43and you walk through the ship. And my kids thought it was
- 1:12:46really cool and I thought it was fun to go back and kind of
- 1:12:48relive that part of Disney history.
- 1:12:50So it was a fun. Thing to do if you're waiting
- 1:12:53for somebody to go on Space Mountain and you're looking for
- 1:12:55something like the Autopia line, can get a little bit long and
- 1:12:59see with Buzz Lightyear, that's there.
- 1:13:01So we were like, well, we can do this walkthrough and there's no
- 1:13:03wait for it. So it's a nice thing to do while
- 1:13:05you're waiting. Autopia was pretty much the same
- 1:13:09there, and Buzz Lightyear is almost identical to Disneyland,
- 1:13:14yes. Disneyland because you could
- 1:13:15pick up the the blaster. Other favorite rides there.
- 1:13:21Big Thunder Mountain was incredible, that was.
- 1:13:24And it looked that way. Like, I remember looking at it
- 1:13:27on the map. Like, wait, it's on an island.
- 1:13:29That's so cool. There's like water all around.
- 1:13:31The ride So this is the 4th Big Thunder Mountain that Tony.
- 1:13:38Baxter ever designed and he was like, we're going to make it the
- 1:13:40best. And so he did.
- 1:13:42It's like it's the whole ride. Like you said, you go underneath
- 1:13:46the water to start, so you're like pitch black and you can't
- 1:13:48see anything. And then you end up going on the
- 1:13:51island and go around kind of similar to the other parks in
- 1:13:55the US. But then at the end you go back
- 1:13:56under the water and you're like speeding, like full speed in the
- 1:14:00pitch black under the water. And it's just, it is so
- 1:14:03exhilarating. They also have this place where
- 1:14:06the water. Like splashes up and we actually
- 1:14:09got like soaked on one of the ones who like.
- 1:14:12It splashed everywhere it got. In my eye, I was just like, wow,
- 1:14:15there's a lot of. Water coming.
- 1:14:16It was like splashed on, but we loved it and my kids, it was it
- 1:14:20was everybody's favorite ride. So I'm really glad I got to go
- 1:14:25at it multiple times because the first time I went to Disneyland
- 1:14:27Paris, I got stuck on it and evacuated from it and I never
- 1:14:30actually got to go on the whole thing, so.
- 1:14:33I finally. Got to do that.
- 1:14:34But yeah, that one's a really great one.
- 1:14:38I'd also say the Pirates is if you're like, oh.
- 1:14:42I've seen pirates before. It's whatever it's it's like
- 1:14:45Disneyland's pirates, except the whole storyline is reversed.
- 1:14:49So you go, you kind of start. Out breaking out from the cell
- 1:14:54like with a dog with a bone and like you know they're they're
- 1:14:56trying to call the dog over with the keys.
- 1:14:58That's where it starts, and then, like a cannonball like
- 1:15:00hits the. The jail and then you're like
- 1:15:04and it's a flooded for it. So you kind of go down a
- 1:15:06waterfall because you have like fallen out the side at where you
- 1:15:10know the cannon had hit the the thing.
- 1:15:11And then this is the only Pirates of the Caribbean where
- 1:15:14they actually like see. You, the pirates, see you
- 1:15:17because they try to, like, hit your boat with cannonballs.
- 1:15:20That's awesome. Yeah.
- 1:15:22So there's also a really cool scene where a pirate's actually
- 1:15:26swinging above you. And Audie animatronic is like on
- 1:15:28a rope and swinging above your head, which is pretty neat.
- 1:15:32A lot of the center of it is exactly the same as the ones
- 1:15:34that you know, or I wouldn't say exactly exactly, but very
- 1:15:37similar to what you know. But then at the end there's a
- 1:15:40second drop because they said they wanted the the explosions.
- 1:15:48At the end of the Disneyland version, there's this one where
- 1:15:50these, like super drunk pirates are like taking shots at these
- 1:15:55barrels of explosives, but it never actually explodes.
- 1:15:58But this one, the second drop is at the end because the barrels
- 1:16:02actually do explode and then you go down after they explode.
- 1:16:05So, so fun. Yeah, you end up in the pirate,
- 1:16:07the Ghostly grotto at the very end, and you see Jack Sparrow in
- 1:16:11the chair and it's all really interesting.
- 1:16:12So if you're a pirate's fan at all, just go on that one, it's
- 1:16:15pretty cool. And then I also say Phantom
- 1:16:20Manor, probably. One of my favorite rides there,
- 1:16:24bar none. It's so different than the
- 1:16:26Haunted Mansion. It does have a stretching room,
- 1:16:28but it's a totally different storyline.
- 1:16:30I could talk for hours on this, so I'll just stare you back.
- 1:16:34I'll say I have. I take it.
- 1:16:37I'll show you some of my merch for this.
- 1:16:38Just just for this one. So Phantom Venal is so cool,
- 1:16:43Yeah? So this has shows the phantom
- 1:16:47with I'm showing a lounge fly that has the phantom with
- 1:16:50Melanie Ravenswood who's the bride in front of them and he's
- 1:16:53kind of like standing behind her.
- 1:16:55The Phantom's actually her dad by the way, who like did away
- 1:16:58with all of her suitors. And so you see on the bag here's
- 1:17:01the names of all of her suitors which are actually puns for
- 1:17:04based on how they died. Like very clawed.
- 1:17:07He was clawed by a bear saw your bottom was on a like a log that
- 1:17:14they sent through a mill. Like this is how her dog like
- 1:17:16did away with this one. Yeah.
- 1:17:20Ignatius, Iggy. Night.
- 1:17:23Gosh, I'm trying to remember that one.
- 1:17:25That one I'm. I'm blanking on.
- 1:17:26And then Captain Rowan D falls. They sent him over a waterfall
- 1:17:30in a rowboat. Oh ignite.
- 1:17:32It's ignite Iggy Night. So he is an explosive stealer
- 1:17:36And then he ended up in an explosion in big Thunder
- 1:17:39Mountain. So all of the things in Thunder
- 1:17:42Nice are all tied together including Phantom Air And I love
- 1:17:45how it says non ominous more we are which means not everything
- 1:17:49dies, which is so not so cool. It's got Madame Leo on the back,
- 1:17:53but the most annoying part is they put QR codes.
- 1:17:59Why would you so funny? So when you scan it, does it
- 1:18:02take you to their Birch website where you can buy things?
- 1:18:05Actually this. QR.
- 1:18:07Code goes to like special digital downloads that you can
- 1:18:11use for your phone and things like that.
- 1:18:12So it just it has something on it.
- 1:18:14But I was like, I don't want to wear it on my laptop forever,
- 1:18:17right? That's an interesting choice, an
- 1:18:20interesting merchandise choice. It also has a little the
- 1:18:24stanchion box also looks stanchion box zipper.
- 1:18:27How cute. And I also have this key.
- 1:18:31These are. I'll tell you what they're like.
- 1:18:32Attraction merch is my favorite, but I have this key that is the
- 1:18:36Phantom Manor and it has the little little gargoyle on the
- 1:18:41gargoyle. They also had these for the
- 1:18:44Tower of Terror as well and it says Ravenswood Estate on it,
- 1:18:48which is just hard to see but so the little keys you can get
- 1:18:52very. Cool.
- 1:18:53It's really fun. Oh yeah, I have this too.
- 1:18:55This one's actually. One of my giveaways for my
- 1:18:56subscribers, but just little Phantom Manor with.
- 1:19:02Oh, and it spins. Oh, that's so cute.
- 1:19:03Yeah. Anyway, so I love the It's just
- 1:19:08really fun to go on. It's creepy, though, so if you
- 1:19:11have Littles, that might get scared.
- 1:19:14Just be aware that this is not like the Disney US Parks.
- 1:19:18It's a very scarier storyline. It has this really spooky The
- 1:19:22Phantom is kind of a creepy dude.
- 1:19:24So, you know, maybe either. Use your best judgement for your
- 1:19:28littles. If you're you know, maybe if you
- 1:19:30feel like comfortable watching the watching ahead of time on
- 1:19:33what it's about, if it helps them at all to know the bride
- 1:19:38is, it is not a scary one. She's a good person and she's
- 1:19:42trying to get you. She tries to help.
- 1:19:45She's trying to. Get you out so that you can
- 1:19:47escape, so you can always say that she's throughout the whole
- 1:19:50ride trying to help you out. But it also looks like she was
- 1:19:54trying to get her the whole time.
- 1:19:55So just, you know, yeah. My favorite thing.
- 1:19:58And those of us that follow Kate on her own personal Disney
- 1:20:01Cicerone account got to see she she wanted a little bit of live
- 1:20:04streaming while she was there. And my favorite thing about
- 1:20:07Phantom Manor is in that the loading area, they have that big
- 1:20:11huge staircase with the bride and it's just beautiful.
- 1:20:16I know. Isn't it wild?
- 1:20:18Yeah, it was. You know, hard to see on live
- 1:20:20stream to the extent, but like what I could see every time, you
- 1:20:23know, you took us on there I think twice when you went live
- 1:20:26and I was just like oh this is this is really cool.
- 1:20:30It is. I was bummed that my signal
- 1:20:32didn't work better on there because I wanted to show more of
- 1:20:34it. But it is what it is, you know?
- 1:20:35You can't control that. It's like I'm in France with my
- 1:20:39US phone, So what can I expect? There's not not much.
- 1:20:41You can. Do when it comes to whether or
- 1:20:43not the Wi-Fi holds through Phantom Manor, that's so true.
- 1:20:47I was trying to see if I could find a picture, show it real
- 1:20:48quick, but I don't think I have it.
- 1:20:50I do have a really great picture of Big Thunder Mountain though.
- 1:20:53I can show you guys hope that's so, buddy.
- 1:20:55Yeah, so yeah, go to Phantom Manor.
- 1:21:00Just be aware that it's it and there's there's a whole back
- 1:21:03story. To it.
- 1:21:03That's really complicated and I don't want to get into it here
- 1:21:06because it's it'll take a long time.
- 1:21:07Eventually we'll have to do a district episode about Phantom
- 1:21:10Manor and then you guys can get some more information about it.
- 1:21:12But plug for Distri, which is Kate's other podcast that she
- 1:21:16does with our good friend Kirk from Walrus Walrus Karp.
- 1:21:19I can't talk tonight apparently, but distri with Kate and Kirk.
- 1:21:23So if that is sounds like something you want to hear more
- 1:21:25about or you're interested in Disney history, they've got all
- 1:21:29sorts of good stuff over on that podcast, so check them out for
- 1:21:31sure. Yes, we did a 16.
- 1:21:33Part episode on The History of the Haunted Mansion.
- 1:21:35So perfect first BP season and other things to know about the
- 1:21:40Disneyland Paris Riots. There's no Jungle Cruise, which
- 1:21:43is a little bit disorienting if you're like it's always an
- 1:21:46anchor for the parks for me. But they did have adventure land
- 1:21:49where you could explore. It's a lot of walking and a lot
- 1:21:52of climbing, so if it's like if you're physically challenged.
- 1:21:56Or really tired. It's maybe not the place to hang
- 1:21:58out in a lot, but for my kids, they thought it was great.
- 1:22:01It was like forts and tree houses.
- 1:22:03They had the Swiss Family Robinson tree house there, lots
- 1:22:07of places that caves to kind of climb and explore and they also.
- 1:22:11Had a really great playground that's like pirate ship themed
- 1:22:15that is kind of hard to find. But it's the if you find the
- 1:22:21pirate ship and you find kind of like the back end of the pirate
- 1:22:24ship, it's kind of near there. So my kids didn't want to leave
- 1:22:27it. So that's a great place to let
- 1:22:30them run around a little bit and it is made close where they can
- 1:22:33only go out one way. I was just going to say that if
- 1:22:35I remember from what I was reading, that area is a little
- 1:22:38is mostly enclosed, that particular area Now the tree
- 1:22:40houses and the caves and that kind of stuff are not.
- 1:22:43So be sure to stick with your kiddos on there, But if you're
- 1:22:47in that little playground area that is mostly enclosed, yeah.
- 1:22:50If you need a place to let them run around while you may sit,
- 1:22:53that's a good one. Anna's asking.
- 1:22:56We did. We have a list.
- 1:22:57Of Single rider lines, right? Do you remember some of the
- 1:23:00other ones I'm trying to remember?
- 1:23:04Let me I will find it while you chat about the next little
- 1:23:07section here. I know that I have.
- 1:23:08There are a few. The Fantasyland rides in
- 1:23:12Disneyland Paris are very similar to the Disneyland
- 1:23:14versions. Or at least the Disneyland
- 1:23:16versions as they were, you know, 15 years ago.
- 1:23:22So the Snow White was more like Snow White Scary Adventures, if
- 1:23:25you remember that in Disneyland. So it's a little bit more
- 1:23:28intense. It has very creepy trees that do
- 1:23:31kind of try to get you and there's a lot of jump scares
- 1:23:33from the witch. I loved it because I missed that
- 1:23:37version. I do love the current one that's
- 1:23:39in Disneyland, but I love that version of it.
- 1:23:41So it's kind of like going back in time to go see it.
- 1:23:44Peter Pan's almost identical. There's not much change except
- 1:23:47for the end of Peter Pan is a little, slightly different, but
- 1:23:51it's in they. They also had two seater galleon
- 1:23:55ships too, so they had two rows in their galleon ships rather
- 1:23:58than one. The small world is is worth
- 1:24:02seeing. It's gorgeous from the outside.
- 1:24:05It's similar to Disneyland, except that has a cover where
- 1:24:09you load and unload is all covered because it does rain
- 1:24:11there a lot more. And then inside they have a lot
- 1:24:14of characters and dolls that are not the same as any of the other
- 1:24:16Disney parks. But Joyce Carlson, who worked on
- 1:24:19all of them, she also worked on that one as well.
- 1:24:23So there's a there's a lot of tradition there as well as new
- 1:24:26things. So that's fun.
- 1:24:28And I have one more fantasy line, right And then you can
- 1:24:30tell us about the single writers, but the the Pinocchio
- 1:24:34is almost almost 100% identical, except there's all the words are
- 1:24:38in French. So it's kind of fun to see that
- 1:24:40instead in terms of like what's written And then if anybody has
- 1:24:45been following Distry for a while and watched our Pinocchio
- 1:24:47episode. I had read on the prop list that
- 1:24:51there was a salt box that was somewhere in that scene and I've
- 1:24:54been trying to find it for years in the Disneyland version and I
- 1:24:57finally found it in Disneyland Paris and it actually says
- 1:25:00saltbox on it. And I was just so excited I.
- 1:25:04Was like yelling at my family. Like, look, there's the saltbox.
- 1:25:08Whatever, mom. It was interesting.
- 1:25:10Place, you know like they all got the all the donkeys in there
- 1:25:12get shipped off to the salt mine.
- 1:25:14So it's kind of like a reminder of like what could be if you're
- 1:25:17not, you know, don't do what you're supposed to do.
- 1:25:20So anyway, very excited about the Saltbox.
- 1:25:26So Anna, to answer your question about Disneyland, we'll we'll
- 1:25:29chat about these ones just for now.
- 1:25:31We'll get into Walt Disney Studios Park here in a moment.
- 1:25:33But Hyperspace Mountain is the only single rider line in
- 1:25:38Disneyland park, so that is the only one there that has a single
- 1:25:42rider line option for you. Thanks, Jackie.
- 1:25:45Do you want to talk? We're going to head over to Walt
- 1:25:47Disney Studio Park. Sorry, I didn't have that pulled
- 1:25:50up in front of me. Yes, I can't.
- 1:25:52Sorry, I'm popping back. And.
- 1:25:54Forth between SO for Walt Disney Studios Park, which is the
- 1:26:00second park at Disneyland Paris, there are four single rider
- 1:26:04lines, Crushes, Coaster, the toy soldiers, parachute drop, RC
- 1:26:10racer, and the Ratatouille ride. So those are your options.
- 1:26:15Over at Disney Studios Park, I will mention that from my notes
- 1:26:20that I found the. Crushes coaster.
- 1:26:24Single rider line is terrible. Everywhere I read said do not,
- 1:26:28do not, do not ever use it because it will be longer than
- 1:26:31your normal cue. So terrible.
- 1:26:37Yes. So keep that in mind whenever
- 1:26:42you are planning for that. That one.
- 1:26:44I do know the other ones. I don't have a ton of
- 1:26:47information about that particular single rider,
- 1:26:49although you did mention that your son used the one for
- 1:26:51Hyperspace Mountain and was fairly successful with that one
- 1:26:54for what it sounded like. Yeah yeah, that one worked
- 1:26:58perfect. So in terms of Walt Disney
- 1:27:02Studios park like I said this this parks a little bit like a
- 1:27:05budget Hollywood Studios slash like what California Adventure
- 1:27:08used to be before it got revamped.
- 1:27:10So it's like they're doing their.
- 1:27:13Best to fix it. I think is where we're at, but
- 1:27:16it's not 100% there. It's a it's getting there.
- 1:27:21They have a really great like ratatouille rummy area that is
- 1:27:26all themed very much. It's similar to the one that's
- 1:27:29in Epcot. It's just not as big.
- 1:27:31It's a smaller area, but the food and the wine is great
- 1:27:35there. So if they're looking for some
- 1:27:37good eats, that's a good place to visit during the day.
- 1:27:39If they're like snack carts that are there, they have a whole
- 1:27:41bunch of them and. There's a really good store
- 1:27:44there too for Birch as well. Like I said before, the crushes
- 1:27:48coaster, we already kind of talked about that.
- 1:27:50It has extremely long waits. And I know, like in my touring
- 1:27:54plan that Jackie gave me, she helped me organize my day.
- 1:27:58She was like get there first during early entry, which would
- 1:28:01have been great, But my family was running late that day and
- 1:28:04that's partially why we had a super long wait because we
- 1:28:06didn't get there and by the time we got in, it was halfway
- 1:28:09through the magic hour in the morning and it was already the
- 1:28:13180 minutes. Wow.
- 1:28:16And we were like, well, we're going to go do something else.
- 1:28:21I also would have done that. So, yeah, yeah, so.
- 1:28:26Then there's also a cars area and like a Toy Story Playland
- 1:28:31area, but I'm going to say it's really good for little kids.
- 1:28:34So if you're like you've got Littles that you're traveling
- 1:28:37with, that's where you want to head.
- 1:28:39The only thing that I'd say that it's probably for bigger kids
- 1:28:42would be like the RC racer ride, which is basically like a big U
- 1:28:47that kind of like goes down and up and down now, kind of like
- 1:28:49with pirate ship rides at carnivals.
- 1:28:51Like, it's like that, except it's a car.
- 1:28:53So they also have like the pretty cool because it's a giant
- 1:28:57RC car. Like, it looks identical to the
- 1:29:00movie. So like, looking at photos and
- 1:29:02videos, I'm like, oh that's so cool.
- 1:29:05We ran out of. Time to go on it, my son.
- 1:29:06Really wanted to go on it, but we ran out of time, so I didn't
- 1:29:09actually go on. We did Tower of Terror in the
- 1:29:11time that my mother-in-law and daughters did.
- 1:29:15All of those areas, pretty much. So we did Tower of Terror, which
- 1:29:19was weird because the sound shut off like halfway through.
- 1:29:22Oh, and Tower of Terror has it's heavily themed to just the
- 1:29:27little girl, which is really creepy, like instead of like the
- 1:29:31whole family and they all kind of disappear.
- 1:29:32They are kind of there, but it's like her like talking to you in
- 1:29:37French. Oh.
- 1:29:39It's. Creepy.
- 1:29:40Oh, that's really interesting. So it's different than the US
- 1:29:47parks in that way. It's a little scarier I think
- 1:29:49and my son didn't like it, so I'll go if we go back on it.
- 1:29:55But yeah the the cars area if. You're used to radiator springs.
- 1:29:59Just go in with really low expectations.
- 1:30:01Like, just lower your. Expectations.
- 1:30:07That's awful, but it's true. It's cute.
- 1:30:10There's some cute photo opportunities.
- 1:30:12There's a very cute little tiny cars ride.
- 1:30:15The the Butte is like this big and like everything's very small
- 1:30:20and it's just it's sad. It's a little sad and they did
- 1:30:24have like a a tour, like a like a.
- 1:30:27It was like a what a backstage tour, like back lot, back lot
- 1:30:31tour, but they can like converted into a cars theme and
- 1:30:37I was. I was sending pictures to to
- 1:30:41Kirk and Lem and I was just like, what is this?
- 1:30:43Because I was like this is. Weird.
- 1:30:46And it's basically like, here's a giant wrench, here's the
- 1:30:49Eiffel Tower that made or made out of like oil cans.
- 1:30:53And then and then you're in this like Canyon where there's like
- 1:30:56water coming at you and fire and all this stuff, which is really
- 1:30:58cool. And then it's like, and then
- 1:31:01there's some random cars on the side and now you're done.
- 1:31:03It was. It was not worth a walk over to
- 1:31:07where it is because it's like the end of that whole walkway
- 1:31:11that starts at like the Ratatouille area.
- 1:31:15So yeah, yeah, it was. That was something.
- 1:31:18Yeah, that was one like. Looking at it, I'm like, well,
- 1:31:20I'm not exactly sure what this is.
- 1:31:24I don't think it was when I was on it.
- 1:31:29That makes sense, I think. It would be good for, you know,
- 1:31:32like. Toddlers.
- 1:31:34Maybe it's like a smoothing tram?
- 1:31:37There's a few things on the side to look at here and there and
- 1:31:41that's. About it so.
- 1:31:43I don't know if I'd recommend that.
- 1:31:44I would say The Avengers campus area is similar to the one in
- 1:31:49DCA in that it's a it's. Small, but it does have some
- 1:31:53things in it, and it's heavily themed.
- 1:31:55I did not see as many characters as there were in DCA.
- 1:32:00Like, they're out everywhere in DCA.
- 1:32:03This one was kind of like there. Were shows that were scheduled,
- 1:32:07They showed, they showed up and they had the Hero Training
- 1:32:10Academy. Did you want to talk about that
- 1:32:11a little bit? I had to talk about it for a
- 1:32:13long time, yeah. So the Hero Training Academy,
- 1:32:17the way that they marketed is basically like you get to go
- 1:32:20into the, you know, The Avengers headquarters that Tony Stark
- 1:32:24built and have an experience with and an Avenger is basically
- 1:32:28what they do and it is through a virtual queue.
- 1:32:31So they do, I think 3 drops of virtual queues throughout the
- 1:32:34day, which is interesting. Because a lot of that type of
- 1:32:37thing, you you, there's no way to know ahead of time what time
- 1:32:40it's going to be. So you just have to check in the
- 1:32:42morning and you can kind of do some research on like what looks
- 1:32:45like it's going to be like 11/2. And 4 You know that type of
- 1:32:49thing, so. It was kind of interesting in
- 1:32:54that respect, and CBI agree. We also thought it was going to
- 1:32:56be more like a Jedi training experience, but it was not.
- 1:33:00It was just a meet and greet with a with a superhero.
- 1:33:03So they have two different options that you can choose
- 1:33:05from. They have an option that is like
- 1:33:07a guaranteed meet and greet with a particular character.
- 1:33:11So when Kate and her family were there, it's just the IT was
- 1:33:15Spider Man was the option. In the past they've had like
- 1:33:17spider Man and Iron Man as like the set option.
- 1:33:21So you basically get a virtual cue to have like a one-on-one
- 1:33:25experience you know or like just your party experience with that
- 1:33:29particular character. Or you can do the second option
- 1:33:32which is like a random character.
- 1:33:35So it just depends on who they have available and the list that
- 1:33:38I found online was very random as far as who.
- 1:33:44Who you could meet in the mystery side.
- 1:33:47So Kate's family opted for the Spider Man.
- 1:33:51Oh, you only had Spider Man as the option.
- 1:33:54So it's just like, hey, here's Spider Man.
- 1:33:56We're like, OK, guess we're meeting Spider Man.
- 1:34:00So from what I saw, it was supposed to be two different
- 1:34:03options, but and maybe it depends on staffing and the.
- 1:34:06Day and what they have available and who's who's there and all
- 1:34:10that. Type of thing.
- 1:34:12So yeah, it's just basically kind of like a more personalized
- 1:34:15meet and greet. So yeah, it's just you can,
- 1:34:18like, choose. Your pose, like, they kind of
- 1:34:19tell you like, oh this is like how you're gonna, you know,
- 1:34:23interact and you're gonna choose your pose and all stuff.
- 1:34:24But really it was just like we had to tell them what language
- 1:34:27we wanted, cause Spider Man was to speak French or English, then
- 1:34:32my kids were like, how come Spider Man has a French accent?
- 1:34:36So, you know, if you're from the US, maybe be prepared to explain
- 1:34:39that, yeah. He said.
- 1:34:42We're in front, so you know, yeah, it was fun.
- 1:34:49I think that it was worth it, especially if you are Marvel
- 1:34:53fans. I don't think my kids were like,
- 1:34:56yeah, you know they they could kind of take or leave character
- 1:34:58meet and greets, which makes me mad.
- 1:34:59But but it's just the case with my kids so well.
- 1:35:02And they because you like you mentioned, they don't have as
- 1:35:04many characters out and wandering.
- 1:35:06That's one of the best ways to interact with the Marvel
- 1:35:08characters there because they don't have a bunch of just meet
- 1:35:11and greets out and available for people to do like you would
- 1:35:15usually see in Avengers campus in Disneyland.
- 1:35:17Yeah, it looks like they did have a few scheduled shows but
- 1:35:20every time we were in Avengers Campus we didn't see any of
- 1:35:23them. We did see like some giant car
- 1:35:26like running through it. We did go on the roller coaster
- 1:35:30that was there, but, but it's funny because when my son got
- 1:35:33off of it, he said Mom that felt.
- 1:35:35Just like rock and roller coaster.
- 1:35:37And I laughed because I was like, I'm pretty sure it's just
- 1:35:39retrofit over rock and roller coaster.
- 1:35:42So he could like tell that he could watch the same, which I
- 1:35:46thought was so funny that they had.
- 1:35:48It's a really neat coaster, but it is a little bit extreme if
- 1:35:52you are. It was a lot like I was like,
- 1:35:55I'm done what and done with that.
- 1:35:56I can't do that again. But my 8 year old was brave and
- 1:35:59she went on it. So her she survived, She got a
- 1:36:04little. Bit scared, but she she decided
- 1:36:06to go so. Yeah, other things they have in
- 1:36:10The Avengers campus area, they've got web slingers, which
- 1:36:12is pretty much identical to the one in DCA, except that what's
- 1:36:18his name? The actor that plays that is it.
- 1:36:21The is. Which version is?
- 1:36:23That is it the old Spider man or the.
- 1:36:27Anyway, the actor that plays Spider Man is dubbed over in
- 1:36:30French, so it's actually quite funny because.
- 1:36:32You could tell he's not speaking it because I know what it's
- 1:36:34supposed to be like. So the Tom Holland, Tom Holland,
- 1:36:38yes, yes. Tom Holland, thank.
- 1:36:41You what he looks like I can't. You know, think I knew it was
- 1:36:44Tom something. I was just like, I'm just
- 1:36:45totally drawing a blank. So yeah, Tom Holland was there
- 1:36:49just like he is in DCA, but they dumped over.
- 1:36:52So. But the ride experience was
- 1:36:54identical and I already knew how to get a really high score
- 1:36:57there. So if you're listening to this,
- 1:37:00you can impress whoever's with you and get a high score for.
- 1:37:05Let's make sure Kirk doesn't hear this because I want to beat
- 1:37:07him when we go there. But all.
- 1:37:10Of all of the spider bots that are like lit up, so the ones
- 1:37:14that are red or green or blue, especially the gold ones,
- 1:37:18concentrate on those more than anything else and then just try
- 1:37:20to get as much as you can. That's how you get a really high
- 1:37:23score. We got like high score of the
- 1:37:25day in our vehicle and my daughter did almost as well as I
- 1:37:28did. So I was like, yay.
- 1:37:30So yeah, yeah, every time I go there, little side note, if I'm
- 1:37:35by myself and I'm like get put in with other people.
- 1:37:38If there's ever like gamer guys that are like younger than me
- 1:37:42and I always like beat them every time.
- 1:37:44And then they just like, look at me and I'm like, well.
- 1:37:49Sorry. Just saying.
- 1:37:51So anyway, that's too funny. Though, yeah, so Web Slingers is
- 1:37:55there. You already talked about the
- 1:37:57running area and that's pretty much the park.
- 1:37:59There's like a part where you walk in that has a couple stores
- 1:38:01and restaurants and it's funny because they have the Brown
- 1:38:04Derby there, but it's like a burger place, like a quick
- 1:38:07service burger place. Not really.
- 1:38:10Like the Brown Derby we know in Hollywood Studios.
- 1:38:13So yeah, and this park is. Very small.
- 1:38:16Like when you look at the overall footprint in the map, it
- 1:38:19is very small. Like you think of like I'm
- 1:38:22trying, I don't even know. I guess you think of like
- 1:38:25Hollywood studios being. A smaller park, but like it's.
- 1:38:30What maybe happened? Hollywood studios in Hollywood
- 1:38:33studios without like Galaxy's Edge.
- 1:38:35Like if you took Galaxy's Edge off, it'd probably be about that
- 1:38:38size. Yeah, it's not.
- 1:38:40So. Not not big.
- 1:38:41Not big. So, yeah, Kate, you guys only
- 1:38:44really spent one full day there when you went.
- 1:38:48Yeah, at least not even. I think we did like till about
- 1:38:53late afternoon. Like tea time.
- 1:38:56Like it was like, I'm going to tea time.
- 1:39:00And then I stuck around. I did a couple things in the
- 1:39:02park and then I did. I went over to Disneyland Paris
- 1:39:04for the rest of the day. So we didn't actually end up
- 1:39:07going to see the show there, although I heard it was really
- 1:39:09cool with the drone show for Marvel.
- 1:39:11And yeah, my family was just showed out because of which is
- 1:39:16what kind of leads us. Into our next topic, the shows
- 1:39:20are actually really spectacular, the drone shows in particular
- 1:39:23because I'm pretty sure they can't fire off fireworks into
- 1:39:26the sky like they can in the US. Like I think it's probably
- 1:39:29prohibited and that's why they came up with another idea,
- 1:39:31because they do shoot fireworks from the castle, but they can't
- 1:39:35like launch them in the sky and set them off I think.
- 1:39:37So instead they have these amazing light shows.
- 1:39:41They're all done with programmed drones.
- 1:39:43But if you haven't seen it, go see it because it's amazing what
- 1:39:47they do with them making them look like fireworks and stars
- 1:39:50and lighting them up a childhood music.
- 1:39:51It's incredible. So I like that more than their
- 1:39:55fireworks show. It was like a 10 minute show.
- 1:39:59They had like a Disney 30th anniversary which is ending at
- 1:40:02the end of September. So that one's going to be done
- 1:40:05probably when anybody goes here. But I hope they replace it with
- 1:40:08another one that's equally as impressive because those are
- 1:40:11fantastic And that one was just 10 minutes before the fireworks
- 1:40:16show. It's just a 10 minute drone show
- 1:40:17and then the fireworks. So the downside of the show is
- 1:40:21that Disneyland Paris is they have the shows right at park
- 1:40:25closing. And that means that every single
- 1:40:29person in the park is on Main Street, USA or in the Hub all at
- 1:40:33the same time. There's nowhere else for them to
- 1:40:35be unless they're like finishing up rides and then they go there
- 1:40:40and they don't have crowd control.
- 1:40:41If you're familiar with Disneyland, because it's a
- 1:40:43really small space, they have a lot of massive crowd control.
- 1:40:46Like you go in, doesn't matter if you're trying to get to New
- 1:40:49Orleans Square. You have to go all the way
- 1:40:50through Tomorrowland And like around like they tell you, like
- 1:40:53this is the path that you go to get through here, to get to
- 1:40:56here. They don't have any of that.
- 1:40:57There's no paths. There's no way to get anywhere.
- 1:41:02The only thing you can do is if you're trying to get out of the
- 1:41:04park, they do have a Main Street USA instead of just the main
- 1:41:08thoroughfare on the. Other side of the shops, there's
- 1:41:12what they call an arcade, so it's like a covered walkway with
- 1:41:15like back door entrances to all the shops and that is on both
- 1:41:18sides of Main Street USA. And that is your access to get
- 1:41:22in and out of the park when there's any show going on.
- 1:41:25Otherwise you are not getting down Main Street at all.
- 1:41:28Period. Now, does that count for like
- 1:41:30the parades and stuff that you guys experienced as well?
- 1:41:32Because I know a lot. Some of that, those parades have
- 1:41:35a fairly large draw when it comes to crowds.
- 1:41:37Yeah, and that show that they do.
- 1:41:39That's kind of like in the Hub too.
- 1:41:42Just aim to go at the outside of the Main Street and then you can
- 1:41:48go down and get in and out that way.
- 1:41:49So I'm glad that they have those, because otherwise there's
- 1:41:52no way you could get around there in the arcades.
- 1:41:54The arcades are spectacularly designed.
- 1:41:57They have these beautiful mosaics.
- 1:41:59They're gorgeous. They also have like.
- 1:42:03These they show like the history of inventions, like one side
- 1:42:06shows the building of the Statue of Liberty and the other ones
- 1:42:11I've shows that history, the Ferris wheels is like actually
- 1:42:13some history in there and learning.
- 1:42:15So, yeah, so. Yeah.
- 1:42:20So there's no real crowd control, just being really
- 1:42:22careful if you're somebody who you know.
- 1:42:25You need to get out of a crowd fast.
- 1:42:26You're not going to get out of that crowd fast at all, so be
- 1:42:29very careful with that. And especially if you get panic
- 1:42:31attacks or claustrophobia or anything like that, just maybe
- 1:42:34try to stay on the outskirts as much as possible.
- 1:42:38And I would line up early. I feel like an hour beforehand
- 1:42:41people were already, like, clogging up that area where you
- 1:42:44couldn't, like, jockey for a position.
- 1:42:46When we got out of that, it was like we all held hands to make
- 1:42:50sure that we didn't lose anybody, 'cause we were just,
- 1:42:52like packed in, like started to eat and salt, trying to get out
- 1:42:54at once. So oh, that sounds awful.
- 1:42:58Yeah, it's not great. So, yeah, so that's that's
- 1:43:03that's the situation with the show.
- 1:43:05So just be careful. We often suggest you shows one
- 1:43:08night because of that because it was just too intense for our
- 1:43:10family. And again, they close
- 1:43:13Fantasyland an hour before the rest of the park to prepare for
- 1:43:16that show, so which I feel like. We did not know like.
- 1:43:20I feel like going into it, that was not in anything that I read
- 1:43:23or any of the research that I did.
- 1:43:25So when I saw that on your notes, I was like.
- 1:43:27What? Yeah, it wasn't.
- 1:43:29It wasn't even just like a portion of Fantasyland, like in
- 1:43:33Disneyland. It's just the couple rides
- 1:43:35behind the castle. It's literally everything in the
- 1:43:37back of the park because they clear the back of the park.
- 1:43:39So it's all of the rides in Fantasyland, which is like
- 1:43:42almost half the park they close. All right, so we already talked
- 1:43:47about how people do not understand or respect cueing, so
- 1:43:50we've already covered that looking at my notes.
- 1:43:53Here and how Fantasyland closes. Oh, another thing though,
- 1:43:58talking about safety with crowds.
- 1:44:00If you are someone who is pregnant or might be pregnant
- 1:44:05when you go or have somebody traveling with you who is
- 1:44:08pregnant, bring your latest doctor's report showing your
- 1:44:12pregnancy. And you can show that, I think
- 1:44:15at your hotel and also at guest services.
- 1:44:17And what they'll give you is something that's called like a
- 1:44:19pregnancy, like a wristband, and they'll attach it to your wrist.
- 1:44:22And they might write the size of your party if they need to, but
- 1:44:26it allows you and I think four other people to go with you.
- 1:44:30And what it is, is basically they just treat pregnant.
- 1:44:34Moms like really well, which is so.
- 1:44:37Great. So that's awesome.
- 1:44:39Any. Ride that is safe for a pregnant
- 1:44:42person to go on. So it's not a lot of rides
- 1:44:44because a lot of them have lap bars and those they're
- 1:44:46disqualified. Like you can look there's an
- 1:44:48accessibility map that will have little signal symbols next to it
- 1:44:52and it'll say like no pregnancy or like pregnancy advise.
- 1:44:55This could be dangerous depending on like your
- 1:44:57trimester, you know, anything that has those red symbols on
- 1:45:01it, you can't go on. Essentially they won't let you,
- 1:45:04but anything else you can actually use it kind of like a
- 1:45:07DAS Pass where you can go in the disability, like you can go
- 1:45:11either in the premier access line or you can go in the exit
- 1:45:15and on that like accessibility, like chart, it'll actually tell
- 1:45:20you where to go as well. But that is so handy for that.
- 1:45:25But it's also will let you skip the lines for character meet and
- 1:45:28greets and it gives you a special viewing location that's
- 1:45:31not crowded for parades and for those night time shows.
- 1:45:35So I mean, yay for the pregnant ladies, right?
- 1:45:39Like that's awesome. Well, and you gotta think that,
- 1:45:41you know, Disneyland Paris also does have their equivalent of
- 1:45:44the the Das Pass and it's you know, very similar in that
- 1:45:47respect of what we're used to and all of that.
- 1:45:50But that is a phenomenal offering.
- 1:45:53That they have for for families and for women who are expecting
- 1:45:56to go like, yeah, it's. Really.
- 1:45:59Hard to be pregnant in the parks, you know?
- 1:46:01And I I think it's like like they finally, somebody
- 1:46:03recognizes that they're like these women already can't go on
- 1:46:06most of the rides here and they're probably hot and tired
- 1:46:09and their feet hurt their back. Like let's give them something,
- 1:46:12help them out. I think it's just really
- 1:46:15wonderful. So it's really nice that they
- 1:46:17have that offering for people. Yeah.
- 1:46:20One of our last things is just to show you guys just a little
- 1:46:22bit of the merch that I got, which I'm already wearing one of
- 1:46:25them. This is the ears.
- 1:46:27They have these wonderful collections that are kind of
- 1:46:29like the attraction collections and this one is some small
- 1:46:34worlds ears. And they're both double sided as
- 1:46:37well, but it really plays on the like the sun and the moon theme.
- 1:46:39There's just one moon. One.
- 1:46:41Golden Sun. And so this is my lounge fly
- 1:46:46which also. Has that Sun and Moon, which is
- 1:46:48a really heavily themed in Disneyland Paris and has the
- 1:46:52numbers and the little soldiers strumming on the sides.
- 1:46:56It has the little fabric flags, which this one actually drives
- 1:46:58me nuts because it gets zipped into the top all the time.
- 1:47:01So but it's so cute. It's that it's a small world on
- 1:47:05the back as well and this is definitely one of my most
- 1:47:10favorite lounge flies they've ever gotten.
- 1:47:12And inside is very much Mary Blair kind of like geometric as
- 1:47:15well. So yeah, I thought.
- 1:47:17That was very cute. I've already showed you guys the
- 1:47:20Phantom Manor Lounge Fly and then I did get.
- 1:47:26This one is part of my sub giveaway for this month, but
- 1:47:29it's a big Thunder Mountain key chain, But it's a Thunder Mesa
- 1:47:34and has the little goat on it. Too as well, and very little.
- 1:47:40I love that. That's awesome now.
- 1:47:42And I. Didn't get a ton of things
- 1:47:45because I got I got that necklace that I forgot to bring
- 1:47:47up here, but Oh my gosh. I mostly got books guys, because
- 1:47:51this is what I get. Shocker.
- 1:47:55And Elliott insisted. I got the art of Disneyland
- 1:47:57Paris. So this really shows a lot of
- 1:47:59the, like, concept art and everything behind it.
- 1:48:04And then I got these books that are for the 30th.
- 1:48:07I haven't eaten at Oklahoma yet, but I got the Collector
- 1:48:11Collector's edition for the 30th anniversary and they have these
- 1:48:15beautiful bindings on them and then Inside is like stories and
- 1:48:19concept art from Disneyland Paris for pirates and space and
- 1:48:23also one for Phantom Manor And it says very cool and it's both
- 1:48:29in front and English. I did open them up when we were
- 1:48:31there. There was an open one, but I
- 1:48:34envision A distorian's lounge soon where you maybe showcase
- 1:48:38some of that, Yes, that artwork that you found in those books.
- 1:48:43Because I feel like a lot of us would love to see what's about.
- 1:48:47Yes. I just haven't even had a chance
- 1:48:49to open them. And it did get like a big
- 1:48:51Disneyland tech fun map as well. It's obviously not open either.
- 1:48:55And then I got some ears I showed you guys.
- 1:48:58The Big Giant banner this year, Disney to fix the classic
- 1:49:01banner. They had that for Disney World
- 1:49:03recently too. So now I have both.
- 1:49:06And then that's fighting. Hold on, hold on.
- 1:49:09Here we go. And then I got ears.
- 1:49:11So I have the easiest, the easiest memory.
- 1:49:13But I also got the Disneyland Paris Gold 30th ears.
- 1:49:17So it features the castle in the center with some stars and then
- 1:49:20it's gold and then it does say Disneyland Paris on the side.
- 1:49:23And these were all. Discounted because it was the
- 1:49:25end of the celebration, so they're all vertical, gone off
- 1:49:28and. Then I got these ones as well
- 1:49:31that are just really pretty, kind of like iridescent white
- 1:49:34bow and then these purple blue sequence as well, a new one
- 1:49:39pretty. I actually have a second pair of
- 1:49:41ears for this that I'm going to give away as myself giveaway as
- 1:49:44well. So I love those ones.
- 1:49:46Those ones are really pretty. Yeah.
- 1:49:49So that's. Mainly what I got.
- 1:49:52Besides Elliot getting this wonderful Disneyland Paris mug
- 1:49:56from Starbucks, so was you. And yeah, then my kids got
- 1:50:01stuff, but it's all tucked away in their rooms, so I'm not going
- 1:50:03to go dig through all those things they have.
- 1:50:05Claimed it and it's not coming back.
- 1:50:10So yeah. So that was, in a nutshell,
- 1:50:13Disneyland Paris. I love it.
- 1:50:16Yeah, it is a lot. Overall, I feel like the the
- 1:50:19planning process for me on my end of things was a little
- 1:50:23intimidating. Just like I said at the
- 1:50:24beginning, kind of not knowing what what we were going into and
- 1:50:28trying to do my best to make sure that Kate and her family
- 1:50:31were prepared to navigate the parks and have the best trip
- 1:50:34that they possibly could. So I think we did great.
- 1:50:37I think there are some things we just couldn't anticipate.
- 1:50:40Oh, like one thing that I didn't mention that is a really
- 1:50:43critical thing for you guys to know is that I.
- 1:50:47Smoking is huge in France. Everywhere, literally
- 1:50:50everywhere. Everybody smokes everywhere.
- 1:50:53And so in the parks, they're still smoking, they're still
- 1:50:55smoking sections, but people pretty much just smoke wherever
- 1:50:59they feel like it. So we're like sitting down to
- 1:51:02eat. And there's like people not in
- 1:51:03the restaurants but outside like smoking next to us.
- 1:51:05And, like, it really got to my kids, 'cause they're just not
- 1:51:08used to it at all. And then after you leave the
- 1:51:11park, everybody lights up. So as you're walking out of the
- 1:51:15park, you're walking into this massive amounts of cigarette
- 1:51:17smoke. So.
- 1:51:19If you have asthma or you have any like sort of lung condition
- 1:51:22where cigarette smoke will aggravate it, please be aware of
- 1:51:26that before you go because it's almost impossible to get away
- 1:51:28from except for indoors. So yeah, so I would say that was
- 1:51:34good to know. I would, I would say overall
- 1:51:35that that wasn't expected. And there was a couple other
- 1:51:38things that I was just like, this is just culturally super
- 1:51:40different that we wouldn't have known.
- 1:51:42But I think that the information I have that you had on eating
- 1:51:46and everything was so great and it really helped a lot so.
- 1:51:51I did have a. Question.
- 1:51:52Were there food? Easy, easy choices for for
- 1:51:55children in Paris? You're down at Disneyland Paris.
- 1:51:59There's all kinds of stuff for kids.
- 1:52:02There was pizza and hot dogs and burgers and my a lot of kids.
- 1:52:05My kids had chicken fingers a lot.
- 1:52:09There was a lot of chicken everywhere.
- 1:52:10There wasn't as much Mac and cheese as there was in the US
- 1:52:12Parks, just because my son's, like, obsessed with Mac and
- 1:52:14cheese. And Paris itself.
- 1:52:19There's Parisian food, so yeah, there's there's stuff for kids
- 1:52:22to eat. But my kids didn't like baguette
- 1:52:24bread, so that became a challenge that we had to go to
- 1:52:27the grocery store and get stuff for them.
- 1:52:29But there's lots of great food in France, so yeah.
- 1:52:32I've got a. Question on my side.
- 1:52:33How much French did you speak? And versus, like, how much
- 1:52:36English did the cast members at the Zeeland Paris speak?
- 1:52:40Let's see. I I speak just a little bit of
- 1:52:46French. My husband speaks a little bit
- 1:52:47more. You don't need to know any
- 1:52:49French really to go to Disneyland Paris, if that's your
- 1:52:52only destination. You probably should know a
- 1:52:54little bit more. If you're going into Paris, the
- 1:52:56city, most people probably speak a little bit of English.
- 1:53:00It's enough to get by. But we you don't need any for
- 1:53:04Disneyland Paris. Pretty much everybody there
- 1:53:06speaks English. I think we ran into the only
- 1:53:09person who didn't speak or didn't speak English was the
- 1:53:12person I had to call to fix my reservation.
- 1:53:15They spoke Portuguese only, so they spoke Portuguese to the
- 1:53:18person who spoke. They spoke French also and then
- 1:53:21it it was a thing. So but.
- 1:53:24Yeah. No, almost all the cast members
- 1:53:26are, they just speak English. They just like a requirement and
- 1:53:30it's almost all the signage is in English and French, so it's
- 1:53:35not like menus and stuff. You won't have a hard time at
- 1:53:37all. It's very easy.
- 1:53:39They knew that there would be a lot of people coming to this
- 1:53:42particular park. The Imagineers knew that when
- 1:53:44they designed it. So they specifically designed
- 1:53:46the park to not lean into language so much to tell the
- 1:53:49story as like things people could visually recognize.
- 1:53:53That's why Pirates of the Caribbean is a gigantic
- 1:53:55fortress, because then you see that they're like, oh, that's
- 1:53:57the pirate ride, right, If you think of the US parks.
- 1:54:01You might not know it's a pirate ride from the outside, because
- 1:54:03it's like Disney World kind of looks.
- 1:54:05Like an old Spanish building. And then Disneyland just looks
- 1:54:08like part of New Orleans Square. So they might specifically made
- 1:54:12everything to look like a creepy old haunted house.
- 1:54:15This looks like a pirate thing. Like they made it so that it's
- 1:54:18accessible to anybody who speaks any language by using visual
- 1:54:22visuals rather than signage. I think that's why we didn't see
- 1:54:25so much signage, but you're like, oh wait, now that makes
- 1:54:28sense. But we could use a little bit of
- 1:54:30signage, even if it's in multiple languages, to say it
- 1:54:34anyway. Just a suggestion.
- 1:54:36Just. But yeah, no, it was it.
- 1:54:40You don't need to speak French much, but I do recommend
- 1:54:43learning a little bit, especially if you're going to go
- 1:54:46anywhere besides. But it's just it's just polite
- 1:54:49to try to speak their language. They will probably speak English
- 1:54:52back to you because they'll recognize that you don't speak
- 1:54:54their language. But it's good to try.
- 1:54:57I feel like I did need it when I was in Paris.
- 1:54:59There were some things that you'd have to navigate around to
- 1:55:02understand, like even just like the word exit and things like
- 1:55:06that. Getting off the Metro, like you
- 1:55:07need to know those kinds of things.
- 1:55:10My kids thought it was funny that I said so tea, so tea.
- 1:55:12And I was like, okay. Hey, they're learning your They
- 1:55:17did. They did.
- 1:55:18They learned some French. We want to.
- 1:55:22End with our new segment, we're going to start on our show.
- 1:55:27Which is exciting. So this is the first installment
- 1:55:30of our new segment that we're going to do to end our podcast
- 1:55:34episodes and it is Ask the Moms. So this is just kind of a
- 1:55:38general Q&A that we're going to use to end our podcast episodes.
- 1:55:43So we are going to be reaching out to our listeners and our
- 1:55:48followers and you guys can always send in questions for
- 1:55:51this via our Discord or send us a message on any of our social
- 1:55:54media platforms. All those links on how to
- 1:55:56contact us are in our bio here on our Mom St. side and some of
- 1:56:00them are also in Kate's bio on her side as well if you're
- 1:56:03looking for the Discord or things like that.
- 1:56:05But our question this segment, this episode is how do I find
- 1:56:11showtimes for fireworks or night time shows for my trip?
- 1:56:17So I feel like this is a little bit fitting because we talked
- 1:56:19about that a little bit with Disneyland Paris, but let's kind
- 1:56:22of give. A general low down on how this
- 1:56:26works. So two different.
- 1:56:29Ways that you can find the times if you're looking day of very,
- 1:56:35very easy. It's on your app, yeah.
- 1:56:38So if you're in Disney World, it's on your My Disney
- 1:56:40Experience app. If you are in Disneyland, it's
- 1:56:43on your Disneyland app, and if you are in Disneyland Paris, it
- 1:56:45is on your Disneyland Paris app. All of those do have that
- 1:56:50information available to you. I know that on the Disney World
- 1:56:53and Disneyland app, if you're looking for a specific show,
- 1:56:56it's probably easiest just to search it in their search bar
- 1:56:59kind of on their Disneyland Paris.
- 1:57:02It's like right on their home screen of their app, which is
- 1:57:05really, really nice. From the homepage it says like
- 1:57:08it'll show show the park hours for today.
- 1:57:09This is in the My Disney Experience app.
- 1:57:11And then you just click on today's showtimes and then it
- 1:57:14will populate an entire list and show you everything that's
- 1:57:17available pretty much in in every park.
- 1:57:20And you can click on the If you click on the specific event or
- 1:57:24specific show, then it will give you more details about who it's
- 1:57:28for and if there's a Showtime. This one says happily ever
- 1:57:32after. There's no showtimes today.
- 1:57:34And so it'll just tell you if it's happening or not and if So,
- 1:57:37what time? Yeah, now if you're looking for
- 1:57:40it in advance. So if you're someone who's going
- 1:57:43in a month and you want to know what time happily ever after
- 1:57:46it's going to be or what time you're, you know if you're
- 1:57:49going. Especially if you're going
- 1:57:51during like party season, when you're going during Halloween
- 1:57:54parties and Christmas parties and you want to make sure that
- 1:57:56you get to see that particular show.
- 1:58:00You would. Want to use just the basic
- 1:58:01website on the on your browser? So again, whatever park you're
- 1:58:05visiting, head to that website, soeitherdisneyland.com or Disney
- 1:58:11World. And then my suggestion for you
- 1:58:13is again, just to use that search bar.
- 1:58:15And then from there, it's going to pull up the ability for you
- 1:58:17to select the date that you're looking for and it'll give you
- 1:58:20showtimes. Now I will say Disney World, I
- 1:58:22know typically doesn't do showtimes more than about two
- 1:58:26months, three months in advance. But.
- 1:58:31And I know that Disneyland Paris, it's hard to find it
- 1:58:34ahead of time. We ran into that problem when I
- 1:58:36was looking at like virtual cues and showtimes and that kind of
- 1:58:39stuff. A lot of their stuff is just day
- 1:58:40of you can get the general just if you kind of Google it and
- 1:58:44look at what other people have said previously.
- 1:58:46But Disneyland Paris is definitely a double.
- 1:58:49Check it the morning of because you want to make sure.
- 1:58:51That you've got it right. But for the US parks, typically
- 1:58:54when you look on the website, you're able to search for
- 1:58:57whatever show it is or if you don't know the name of the show,
- 1:58:59you can look under the park category for whatever park
- 1:59:03you're going to be in for that night.
- 1:59:05I will say too, I've mentioned this before that I've used
- 1:59:08touring plans for years and they do a really great job giving you
- 1:59:13the all the information for all the parks and all the shows and
- 1:59:16they'll even do like predicted showtimes even if they're not
- 1:59:19true yet. To give you kind of an idea when
- 1:59:21you're planning of this is probably the show that will be
- 1:59:24happening and likely the time that it will be at and then they
- 1:59:27fill it up as soon as Disneyland like releases their calendar.
- 1:59:29They absolutely like firm that up and make sure that it's
- 1:59:32correct. So I found touring plans really
- 1:59:35helpful for looking ahead, especially for showtimes and
- 1:59:38whatnot. And those subscriptions to
- 1:59:40touring Plans are fairly inexpensive and it's an annual
- 1:59:43subscription, I believe. Is that correct, Kate?
- 1:59:46Yeah. And it's, it's different for
- 1:59:48Disneyland and Disney World and they're two different
- 1:59:50subscriptions. Disneyland's a little cheaper
- 1:59:51than Disney World just because Disney World's a little bit more
- 1:59:55robust. I guess I would say it's a
- 1:59:57little bit more updated, but if if I want to say it's around 14
- 2:00:02to $17.00 per year, it's not that much, especially if you're
- 2:00:05going more than once or you're going for a long trip and you
- 2:00:08just need help planning. I think that's it's it's worth
- 2:00:10the cost in my opinion. Especially if you're not used to
- 2:00:14planning a Disney trip. It's so helpful.
- 2:00:17Yeah. And we've talked more about
- 2:00:18touring planes when we talked about like our One day
- 2:00:20itineraries and our Genie Plus episodes.
- 2:00:22If you want more information about that, you can hop back
- 2:00:25into our. Previous episodes and find it
- 2:00:27there. Yes, we are not sponsored by
- 2:00:29touring Planes yet. Maybe.
- 2:00:35But I do like them a lot. Yes, very true.
- 2:00:39So, yeah, so. Thank you for submitting
- 2:00:42questions for our Ask the Moms segment.
- 2:00:45And like we mentioned that it's going to be something we're
- 2:00:47going to do our best to end every podcast episode with so
- 2:00:52coming. Up next we are talking character
- 2:00:55dining. So is it worth it?
- 2:00:57What are your options? What kind of food do they have?
- 2:01:00All that type of stuff will be coming up.
- 2:01:03So if that's something that you want more information about when
- 2:01:07it comes to character dining options and we will definitely
- 2:01:10be talking about as and giving you as much information as we
- 2:01:12can about those, but with that. Thank you guys so much for
- 2:01:15joining us for tonight's Disneyland Paris episode of
- 2:01:18Monster USA. If you've got more questions or
- 2:01:21something we didn't answer, please feel free to reach out to
- 2:01:24us. Like we mentioned, you can
- 2:01:25always find our information in the link in our bio.
- 2:01:28You can find us on all of the social medias.
- 2:01:31You can find us on the Walrus Cart Pocket and Discord that we
- 2:01:35have a channel on. And you can always e-mail us at
- 2:01:39Mom St. usa@gmail.com as well, and we hope you'll have a
