- 0:00It's got to Jeff Legwald on the Ramas Law hot Line, Car Accident,
- 0:03Ramas Law, medical doctor and attorney Ramas Law dot Com. Jeff Football question
- 0:07for you. Could Micah Parsons hit two hundred in an MLB season as he
- 0:11claims he can. I'm gonna say no, you know, and I offer
- 0:16Michael Jordan as proof positive. But great point. The Birmingham Baron's legend.
- 0:22Hey, I get thinking. You also Chris Bryant, who's hitting a buck
- 0:25eighty right now this year. Ye, speaking of baseball and Chris Bryant,
- 0:29he comes from your part of the country. Thank you for that acquisition there,
- 0:32Jeff Legwald, could you at least warned Rockies fans and Rockies faithful that
- 0:37this guy couldn't play anymore? I didn't know that was on my docket,
- 0:42But I I always wonder about guys who who've you know, won the rings,
- 0:48and you know, you don't know where they're at physically in their career.
- 0:53You know, honestly, I did hear before he signed here that a
- 0:58friend of mine who covers baseball a great deal, said that the Cubs did
- 1:03have concerns about him physically. So it's not shocking it's worked out this way,
- 1:07jeff Is there a wide receiver in the National Football League that isn't whining
- 1:11right now? Or is every guy whining at some Oh, well, the
- 1:15guys they just got Jefferson's not whining. Is everybody else whining at this point?
- 1:19I can't swing a dead or Madillo by the tail without hitting a wide
- 1:23out now complaining about his contract, you know, most that's kind of position.
- 1:27I want the ball more. I mean I can remember, you know,
- 1:33Jerry Rice, you know, saying you should get the ball more at
- 1:38times, and he's Jerry frickin' Rice getting the ball all the time. So
- 1:42I don't I think it's just the nature of the position. And in the
- 1:47NFL it is the greatest quirk of quirks. Your contract is obsolete almost the
- 1:53moment you sign it. I mean, it's just like the train just keeps
- 1:57moving, you know. So all these guys who signed deals justin Jefferson signs
- 2:04his deal and all the rest of the deals are suddenly, you know,
- 2:09back on the back burner again. And I just think it's the nature of
- 2:14the beast. Yeah, but just to that point, Tyreek Hill is whining
- 2:16and he just set the market in twenty two, less than two years ago.
- 2:21He set the market. Now he's like, hey, I need more.
- 2:23I'm like, dude, you you just became the highest big wide out
- 2:27ever. You set the markets and now you're now he's screaming again. I
- 2:30don't. I just can't. I can't believe it. Well, you know
- 2:32again, it's it's the only way they have to to get contract adjustments.
- 2:39And frankly, you know, I over the years, I've become far more
- 2:45jaded the other way because when teams cut guys, they don't care how many
- 2:51years they got left on their contracts. I mean, Russell will said,
- 2:54do we need anymore? You know, justin Simmons, Russell Wilson. We've
- 3:00seen it here. So you know, I think it's hilarious when teams always
- 3:07go, well, the guy's got a contract, and nobody moves on from
- 3:13contracts more quickly than NFL teams, and they whine the loudest when their guys
- 3:17are are asking for more money. So I just take it as part of
- 3:22the business again, because it's you know, the market is being reset all
- 3:25the time, and you know, I think we have to remember sometimes agents
- 3:31are on commission, so they like the they like the dollar figures to go
- 3:37up and get changed. So leggy on that subject. The top thirty highest
- 3:42paid non quarterbacks is as follows a lot of wide outs, a lot of
- 3:46defensive linemen, and three offensive tackles. Here's my questions. Let me just
- 3:52start this off. I want just a yes or no on these. Okay,
- 3:55would you rather have Patrick's or Tan or dkay metcalf I'm sorry you would
- 4:01have Cirtan over to Yeah, you understand the question, Okay, sir Tan
- 4:05or Nico Collins cir Tan. Why aren't corners getting paid like wide receivers then
- 4:14if they are just as valuable as some top end wide receivers. Cirtan's contracts
- 4:17coming up, and I'm sure he's looking at thirty five million for Justin Jefferson.
- 4:21My responsibility is to stop that one on one. Why don't I get
- 4:25that money? I think the expectation of people I know in the league is
- 4:30that Cirtan sets the market for corners and the Broncos can either decide to do
- 4:34this or not. But uh, I've I've had people, I've had personnel
- 4:41guy, and I know it's not popular here because everybody wanted them to take
- 4:45the quarterback that year, no matter what, no matter who was on the
- 4:47board, no matter what. I get it. But I've had people who
- 4:53in the league who evaluate personnel every single day tell me Cirtan's the best defensive
- 5:00player among the three best defensive players in the league. So that's where we're
- 5:04at, and he's gonna get paid. The Broncos are gonna have to pay
- 5:09him, and I think they're gonna have to convince him they're on the right
- 5:12track to get it all done. They're gonna have to make him the highest
- 5:15paid guy at the position, and I think they're gonna have to convince him
- 5:17they're on the right track setting setting the market. What does that mean as
- 5:20far as AAV and your guests, like, what is the average salary he'll
- 5:25get per year? Because right now, right now, number one I think
- 5:29is Jayia Alexander at twenty one millionaire. Yeah, he's going over that.
- 5:31I mean, he's better than Gyroon Alenxanders. I mean, I he's one
- 5:35of the best players I've seen in my time covering the team here. So
- 5:40you know, he just is is the rarest of combinations, and they're gonna
- 5:46have to pay him. To keep them. I mean, they could do
- 5:47the dance down the road with the franchise player and all that and keep them
- 5:51an extra year. But if they want to keep Patrick's certain long term,
- 5:58they're gonna have to act like they mean it to do it. You know,
- 6:01Jeffy, it's interesting you say that too, because I remember Mini camp
- 6:04or rookie camp right first time I saw him on the field, I'm like,
- 6:09oh my god, this guy. You couldn't you just tell from the
- 6:12beginning that this guy is just special, He's just different. He's just that
- 6:17guy. No Moji's is he's their best player and it ain't close. And
- 6:25again, he's one of the best, if not the best, defensive player
- 6:29in the league, and you know, we maybe we don't appreciate that because
- 6:32they're not you know, he's not in a playoff matchup against you know,
- 6:38the best receivers in the league, and and you know you can you can't
- 6:44avoid him, you know, if you're an offense. And that's part of
- 6:46it too, that we often don't see his best because people choose not to
- 6:50challenge him. Jeffrey, have been to a couple of TA Days, and
- 6:57I don't know the answer to this question. Perhaps you do. Who is
- 7:00currently the Broncos starting tight end. I just think they it's just gonna matter
- 7:06what what grouping they're in, honestly, I mean, if it's if it's
- 7:12a run fit, it'll be you know, a different set of guys.
- 7:15They that's a hole in their offense right now, and you face nickel defenses
- 7:21sixty seventy percent of the time. That's not a good place to have a
- 7:25hole in your offense. That that's a matchup. The best offenses in the
- 7:30league are winning. Uh, And they don't have a lot of impact there
- 7:33right now. I mean, they've got young guys they like, but uh,
- 7:38you know, that is certainly a pretty glaring spot right now in the
- 7:43passing game for them. You know. On top of that leag so they're
- 7:46not gonna have a tight end. They'll be the first NFL team generation.
- 7:51He keeps you know, Sean Payton loves krawl. He thinks he's got potential
- 7:57in the passing game. And you know, Troutman's kind of a high brid
- 8:01can play the rundown and the pass downs. And you know, Dulcitch we
- 8:05don't know yet. You know, they keep Champayton keeps saying he'll be on
- 8:09the field sooner rather than later. But we you know, they need that
- 8:15to work out or they're going to have a big hole in their offense.
- 8:18But again, the best offense is in the league right now. Have that
- 8:22player, and it's almost universal because that's that's where you can win in the
- 8:28nickel. You know, when teams started playing this much nickel defense, the
- 8:33tight end became a huge weapon, even bigger than normal. And you know
- 8:39they haven't had that for quite some time. Finished this question, leg As
- 8:43we sit right now, the Broncos season will be a success if blank,
- 8:48they don't have many injuries. That's not a This is not a deep team.
- 8:52This is not a deep team. That's that's what I keep coming away
- 8:56with as I as I watched practice. And then if they if they're fortunate
- 9:01like last year, you know, maybe they can slug it out and see
- 9:05what happens. But if they have injuries, I think it's gonna be a
- 9:09slog Is it unfair for me to say the Bronco season will be a success
- 9:13if bow Knicks looks like he's a franchise quarterback regardless of record, like if
- 9:20they have five wins, but you're like, you know, what this guy
- 9:22can play? Is that all that matters? That might be for them.
- 9:26I think it's gonna be a you know, we don't know how Sean Payton's
- 9:30gonna do with a season like that at a rookie quarterback. We've we've never
- 9:33seen it. Nobody's ever seen it, you know. I know guys he's
- 9:37coached with, who wonder what that would look like, you know, if
- 9:41it's that kind of struggle with a rookie quarterback. But I will say,
- 9:45and I've said this, uh, you know before, I think at some
- 9:50point he's just gonna have to decide bow Knicks is going to start or the
- 9:56developmental clock stops in September, because you don't get any rep yes, if
- 10:01you're not the starter, and I mean you don't get any reps. It's
- 10:05you're basically a classroom quarterback if you're not playing. So the decision is just
- 10:11throw him in the pool, or make the commitment that he's sitting for the
- 10:16year and just say it. Because I don't think the bo Nicks goes in
- 10:22the lineup halfway through the season that that doesn't help his developmental clock at all.
- 10:28It may make everybody feel better. But I think at some point in
- 10:33training camp they're just gonna have to make the decision. Is either starter or
- 10:39are we going to commit to sitting them a year and do the Mahomes thing
- 10:43and bring him in for the for the finale and get it going for twenty
- 10:46twenty five. Please don't do that, Denver, Please? Well, I
- 10:52mean, you gotta you gotta get I mean, is it really good for
- 10:54a guy to get? Uh? I mean, my my issue with this
- 11:00for playing him right away was they finished eight to nine last year and I
- 11:05still believe they've had more talent leaves than come in. So you're taking a
- 11:09team that didn't make the playoffs that may or may not be even as good
- 11:13as it was last year, and you want to just throw the rookie in
- 11:18there no matter what. You got to decide if that hurts him more than
- 11:22helps them, and that will be the decision. Frankly, can they protect
- 11:26him well enough and run the ball well enough to make his rookie year productive?
- 11:33I mean, they didn't get Zach Wilson for almost nothing, because throwing
- 11:37a rookie quarterback in is an easy thing to do. Leggy, as we
- 11:41celebrate D Day, the eightieth anniversary, wasn't your father? He was in
- 11:48D Day as actually, so my dad was in D Day. What was
- 11:52his role? He was in an infantry artillery unit, so he uh,
- 12:00he was. He was on the beach pretty early in the process. So
- 12:03he didn't talk about by chance he did not you know, I didn't ask
- 12:09him that specifically, but I gotta believe he would have mentioned that if that
- 12:13happened. But could you imagine storming the beach? Oh wait, there's Yogi
- 12:18autographed, Give me a little cover. It's hysterical. He was in a
- 12:24lot of the hotspots, battle the bulls and all. I mean, it's
- 12:28amazing, are Gone forest and all that. I mean. He was in
- 12:33some of the brutal things. And the closest he came to to ending it
- 12:37all was the day before they're set to come back to America. He and
- 12:43his buddy were jacking around and they flipped the jeep over. God. So
- 12:48he he lived through all of the crap in World War Two, and he
- 12:52almost off himself jacking around with a je The closest he came to ending it
- 12:58all the day leg Walled j was born. Geezh Leggy God bless your dad.
- 13:03I mean, that's an amazing story, and God bless everybody. You
- 13:07and I will talk about this sometime. I know you're always working, you're
- 13:11always busy, but there's an open invitation to come with me, or to
- 13:16go to the house there and say, mayor or whatever whatever it is you
- 13:20want to do sometime. I'd love to some time. No, I know
- 13:22you've said, you've mentioned that to me. It is on my bucket,
- 13:26my bucket list of thanks to do. You're gonna stop working, man,
- 13:28you're working all the time. I will say, he went to he went
- 13:33into the army with jet black hair, and he came home with white hair.
- 13:37So I'm not sure it was. It was all fun and adventure.
- 13:41It was leggy. God bless your dad, and thanks always for for joining
- 13:46us. Man. Always appreciate it. If out
