- 0:43Speaker 1: Dun dum.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Dum da.
- 0:47Speaker 1: That was pumped. I shouldn't be these pumps in front
- 0:51Speaker 1: of a microphone.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Yeah, we better get a super cut of all these
- 0:54Speaker 2: songs and then put on Spotify and make a list.
- 0:58Speaker 1: And we'll go. I don't want to win the Hottest
- 1:01Speaker 1: one hundred next year. I don't have time for that. Admin,
- 1:05Speaker 1: I got to be in there at Triple J on
- 1:07Speaker 1: Jan twenty fifth. I can't handle that.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Dude. If it goes Kelly Holiday, you know, wins number
- 1:12Speaker 2: two this year in the Hottest one hundred, and then
- 1:14Speaker 2: we win yeah next year. It's like two big years
- 1:18Speaker 2: for cus.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Well.
- 1:20Speaker 1: The weird thing is we we actually wrote and dedicated
- 1:23Speaker 1: that to Abby Chatfield as well. Oh yeah, yeah, shocking
- 1:26Speaker 1: perfect tennis. Just no way. I gotta say we did
- 1:31Speaker 1: shoehorn Rye of Bekina. I liked it. Yeah, but the pronunciation, yeah,
- 1:37Speaker 1: it's confusing a lot of people.
- 1:38Speaker 2: It is because I uh, you watch a match and
- 1:42Speaker 2: they're saying Rebeccna Rebeccaa.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I say Rebeccina, but rib Akina. People are saying, yeah.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Then the Channel nine promos say Rye Bukina. But I
- 1:51Speaker 1: think they did that before. They did the promos early before.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I think they realized their emphasis needs be in a
- 1:56Speaker 1: different place.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Will you think it's the end of the tournament and
- 1:58Speaker 2: they still haven't figured out of it to ride back and.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Look, what you gotta remember here is we're dealing with
- 2:03Speaker 1: Australians that live very far from the rest of the world.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Any name that is not something that they would hear
- 2:09Speaker 1: every day on the street. They're very confused. Jaden Davis,
- 2:13Speaker 1: Jayden Smith Smith And even there with Jaden, they're like,
- 2:17Speaker 1: is it Jedon or is it Jaden.
- 2:23Speaker 2: We went and met all the ball boys the other
- 2:25Speaker 2: day and girls, and there was a lot of Jaden's
- 2:28Speaker 2: in the room.
- 2:29Speaker 1: My best mate there was Jayden. He was the only friend.
- 2:31Speaker 1: The only ally I had in that whole.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Place was eights.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Yeah. There was a lot of Jadens. Yeah, I mean, yeah,
- 2:38Speaker 1: you're going to get a Jaden, one of the jad
- 2:40Speaker 1: But there was a Jaden I liked. If you're listening, Jayden,
- 2:42Speaker 1: you know who you are. We had a connection. Yeah,
- 2:45Speaker 1: he told me. He told me some secrets which I liked.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Oh my god, Yeah, you told them to keep a secret.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Yeah. I think that's a very fair code violation, very much.
- 2:57Speaker 4: So.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Look, it was a women's semi's final, semis finals, semi finals.
- 3:02Speaker 1: It was women's semi.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Finals day yesterday, and in keeping in the tradition of
- 3:08Speaker 2: the second week of this tournament, both straight sets victories.
- 3:12Speaker 1: But I do feel like one threatened to go the distance,
- 3:15Speaker 1: which is an exciting change. Before we get into it though,
- 3:18Speaker 1: I watch the match as always from down at the
- 3:21Speaker 1: beautiful Piper hed sec Bar or just down there. I
- 3:25Speaker 1: go down there alone most nights and just hang out
- 3:27Speaker 1: and tell people I'm on a podcast at the tennis
- 3:30Speaker 1: and they love it.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Well, I should say, welcome to podlaver Arena. You're on
- 3:35Speaker 2: with your hosts Mike Goldstein and the Jimmy Connors. To
- 3:43Speaker 2: my von Wendall.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Okay, same time, Thanks mate. Did you say as always then?
- 3:48Speaker 2: As always?
- 3:49Speaker 1: As always? No, but you're not always with me, Lizzy
- 3:51Speaker 1: is sometimes well you know, Lizzie's abandoned us. She did
- 3:54Speaker 1: abandon us.
- 3:55Speaker 2: But she'll be back. She'll be back, she'll be back.
- 3:58Speaker 2: And as always again as always. Oh, we are sponsored
- 4:02Speaker 2: by Piper Hide Sex.
- 4:04Speaker 1: That's the reason I was down there. Yeah, free drink,
- 4:06Speaker 1: Slope it up. Yeah. They didn't know me, they hadn't heard,
- 4:09Speaker 1: but I was like, guys, we're doing some great work
- 4:10Speaker 1: for you, and they were like, yeah, full price still.
- 4:12Speaker 2: And they're happy with the slogan I've come up with.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Slop it up, goud, what down? Swell it up you
- 4:17Speaker 2: stinky fox.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Well, the only problem, the only problem they said they
- 4:22Speaker 1: had with it is that they've done all the printing
- 4:25Speaker 1: of their current advertising campaign for the year. Otherwise it
- 4:27Speaker 1: would be on the slope it up, slope it down
- 4:29Speaker 1: your stinky puts. It really has a nice ring to it. Yeah, yeah,
- 4:32Speaker 1: it would fit perfectly on a bottle one of those
- 4:35Speaker 1: little perfect packaging sticky bits.
- 4:38Speaker 2: As always, we were brought to you by piper Head
- 4:40Speaker 2: and tide Sek Twist the script.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Twist that script, twist in the script, twist in the script.
- 4:49Speaker 2: You drink some bubbles drink, you drink some Champagre drinks.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Yes, so should we get into it. Let's talk about
- 4:53Speaker 1: the women's semifinals yesterday.
- 4:55Speaker 2: All right, Well we're starting with the better match, which
- 4:59Speaker 2: was a jaz Pagola jpeg playing against Rebeccaa. I'm sticking
- 5:04Speaker 2: with that.
- 5:05Speaker 1: You're gonna stick with it fair enough and jpeg out,
- 5:07Speaker 1: which means no Americans left in the singles drawer. She
- 5:10Speaker 1: was the last great American. Hope. She couldn't handle the pressure.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I felt a bit sorry for her. She that was
- 5:17Speaker 1: the first game she's played under lights in an evening
- 5:19Speaker 1: session this tournament.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Is that true?
- 5:21Speaker 1: That's true? Look that up. And she hadn't dropped a
- 5:23Speaker 1: set coming in. Yeah, and then the lights threw her
- 5:27Speaker 1: and she was sleepy. She's not in bed by then.
- 5:31Speaker 1: But yes, she put up a good fight. The second
- 5:33Speaker 1: set went to a tie break, yep, and it looked
- 5:36Speaker 1: like we were going to get at that set. Man.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Finally a compelling set this week. I mean, after the
- 5:42Speaker 2: Zaverev teen match, I just don't think there's been a
- 5:45Speaker 2: set that's been that great. Maybe the first set in
- 5:48Speaker 2: dmon r Alcoraz.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Yeah, there's some great tennis in that.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Yeah, But this second set was a lot of tension,
- 5:55Speaker 2: a lot of set points, yeah, well match points for Rebeccaa.
- 6:00Speaker 2: She had match points at five to three, yeah, and
- 6:02Speaker 2: then didn't get those and then you just saw it
- 6:04Speaker 2: tighten up.
- 6:05Speaker 1: It's the stress gets to everyone. The pressure gets to everyone,
- 6:09Speaker 1: and I feel like the crowd is Look, I've never
- 6:11Speaker 1: once again We've brought this up a few times, I've
- 6:13Speaker 1: never played tennis at the level of a Grand Slam.
- 6:17Speaker 1: I'm not ruling it out, but I'm yet to do it.
- 6:19Speaker 1: But center court semi final, the world watching the crowd
- 6:23Speaker 1: energy is you can feel it in there. People tense up,
- 6:25Speaker 1: and I think that affects the place. You can feel it.
- 6:27Speaker 1: You can just see them. It's they don't go into
- 6:29Speaker 1: their shell, but you can see it kind of rattle them. Well,
- 6:32Speaker 1: the crowd, I think, like us just wanted a match,
- 6:35Speaker 1: you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, the crowd's like coming. You
- 6:38Speaker 1: don't know how much these tickets got come on and the.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Thing is like it seemed like we were going to
- 6:43Speaker 2: get a third te for a lot of that Pagola
- 6:46Speaker 2: had a couple set points, couldn't convert.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Couldn't convert, and then but yeah, the game of momentum.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I've always said that, but I just always said that.
- 6:52Speaker 2: How much Rebecca and a like tightened up her forehand
- 6:56Speaker 2: went missing, I was convinced it'd be a third set.
- 6:59Speaker 2: I was finally, I just totally invested, And because for
- 7:03Speaker 2: most of the match, like the other women's semi final,
- 7:06Speaker 2: it just seemed like a foregone conclusion. You know, the
- 7:09Speaker 2: other player looked just beat from the get go, and
- 7:12Speaker 2: then when it started to get good, I really at
- 7:15Speaker 2: a high hose. But still an awesome set, still a
- 7:17Speaker 2: great set. Yeah, and I think both. You know that
- 7:20Speaker 2: old Mike Tyson quote everyone's got a plan.
- 7:22Speaker 1: To they get hit. I use that every every possible
- 7:25Speaker 1: chance I get. It doesn't matter what's happening. I'll be
- 7:27Speaker 1: cut off in traffic. I'll be like, everyone's going to
- 7:29Speaker 1: plan until they get hit. Punching the face, yeah, punch
- 7:31Speaker 1: in the face. No, it's till I get hit. Didn't
- 7:33Speaker 1: or punched in the face.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Yeah, that's wway better than the way you said it.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Yeah you haven't been punched in the faith. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 7:40Speaker 1: howd you react the plan go out the window? No,
- 7:43Speaker 1: he stuck to the plant.
- 7:44Speaker 2: I stuck to the plan and I beat that kid.
- 7:51Speaker 1: You know he deserved it, he did. I Yeah. But
- 7:54Speaker 1: both matches was like this power over finesse, which I
- 7:58Speaker 1: mean totally, which does set up quite interesting final, which
- 8:02Speaker 1: is the two power hitters. We've got Sablanca and Rebeccaha,
- 8:06Speaker 1: And I feel like it's going to be We're just
- 8:08Speaker 1: going to stand at the baseline and just try to
- 8:11Speaker 1: hit the ball as out as we can. Awesome, so good.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I know, I don't want to see running. I don't
- 8:15Speaker 1: want to see shot. Let's just try to hit winners
- 8:18Speaker 1: that beat the body.
- 8:18Speaker 2: But also their head to head I think, is dad
- 8:21Speaker 2: even at this point.
- 8:23Speaker 1: I could be wrong, yeah on that.
- 8:25Speaker 2: But and they kind of go back and forth like
- 8:27Speaker 2: no one has taken a bunch of consecutive matches, and
- 8:31Speaker 2: they played in the twenty twenty three I was open five.
- 8:33Speaker 1: That's true. Yes, awesome match.
- 8:35Speaker 5: Totally.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Neither have lost a set, I believe so far this tournament.
- 8:39Speaker 2: So are we building in both sides of the draw
- 8:42Speaker 2: towards awesome for now? Dude?
- 8:43Speaker 1: And that is a great that's a great hypothetical, right,
- 8:46Speaker 1: not trying to put a positive spin on this, but
- 8:48Speaker 1: if at the start of the tournament you're like, you're
- 8:50Speaker 1: going to have a slightly it's still going to be entertaining,
- 8:52Speaker 1: but a slightly boring Week two. There's going to be
- 8:55Speaker 1: a lot of predictable matches, a lot of straight sets.
- 8:57Speaker 1: But if it means you get too absolutely the blockbuster
- 9:01Speaker 1: historical close finals, do you take it? I think you do, yeah,
- 9:05Speaker 1: unless you you know, only had tickets for you know,
- 9:08Speaker 1: the quarterfinals. But everyone else is like absolutely.
- 9:11Speaker 2: I'm saying the tournament is going to stick the landing
- 9:13Speaker 2: with these matches.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I think so.
- 9:15Speaker 2: And we're going to see some barn storms.
- 9:16Speaker 1: And barn stormers. Yeah, and I'll be out the front
- 9:20Speaker 1: begging to get in.
- 9:26Speaker 2: And the sable Anca Spidelina match.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Has the big going on in this even though it
- 9:30Speaker 1: wasn't really close.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Neither had dropped to set all tournament, so like everyone
- 9:36Speaker 2: is saying, Sina, this is her chance, She's coming in,
- 9:38Speaker 2: even though her head to head was she was one
- 9:41Speaker 2: in five going in.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Yeah, just to break that the mental kind of struggle
- 9:46Speaker 1: to get through that you've got nothing to fall back on.
- 9:48Speaker 2: No, but the I think she was doomed once the
- 9:51Speaker 2: hindrance call happened.
- 9:53Speaker 1: The grunt, yeah, stop dance. Wow, I've never heard the
- 10:02Speaker 1: word grunt in popular media so often.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Well, I have a Sablenca grunt cuede up here. So
- 10:07Speaker 2: this is what her usual grunt is on a big
- 10:09Speaker 2: forehead in her backhand.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Okay, sounds good extended. Can you play it again? Yeah? Okay.
- 10:18Speaker 1: So I'm not used to hearing women kind of make
- 10:20Speaker 1: noises like that. So oh no, no, no, no, no.
- 10:23Speaker 1: What are you used to just silence and like a no,
- 10:27Speaker 1: not that one? That one? Do you have a woman
- 10:30Speaker 1: saying it's normal? It happens all the time. It's kind
- 10:34Speaker 1: of normally what I used to hear it. Don't worry
- 10:35Speaker 1: about it, Yeah, don't worry about it.
- 10:37Speaker 5: It's fine.
- 10:38Speaker 2: I don't have that cute up. Yeah.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Do you want a cup of tea?
- 10:40Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 10:41Speaker 1: That one?
- 10:41Speaker 2: Are you?
- 10:42Speaker 1: Let's do something different. I'll get the tissues. Ah the
- 10:48Speaker 1: hindrance call, so I play. It's crazy. By the way,
- 10:51Speaker 1: do you think it was deserved? Look, I don't know
- 10:52Speaker 1: if it was deserved or not, but it kind of
- 10:54Speaker 1: really came. I was like, what it came from left field? Watching,
- 10:58Speaker 1: but I mean, maybe it is a tactic. I didn't
- 11:00Speaker 1: think it was kind of like argued that it was
- 11:02Speaker 1: like a longer grunt.
- 11:04Speaker 4: No.
- 11:05Speaker 2: I think the problem was that it was a grunt,
- 11:08Speaker 2: a pause, and then a sound. If she does that
- 11:10Speaker 2: continuous grunt like she did there and people are just
- 11:13Speaker 2: acclimated to it.
- 11:14Speaker 1: It's fine.
- 11:15Speaker 2: She gets away with it, get away with the grunt
- 11:16Speaker 2: because she thought the ball was going out, so she
- 11:19Speaker 2: grunts and then pause and then like a oh shit,
- 11:22Speaker 2: it's going out. Sound. Well, Sarah, should I attempt it?
- 11:25Speaker 1: I mean, of course, I mean I didn't know you
- 11:27Speaker 1: were gearing up towards that. Of course, what am I
- 11:29Speaker 1: even talking for? Can you grunt? Please? Well?
- 11:32Speaker 2: I think it was like, so we heard her grunt
- 11:34Speaker 2: before there, I'll play it one more time.
- 11:37Speaker 1: So instead it was that. But then so it was, ah, well, no, okay,
- 11:45Speaker 1: I'm team Sablanca here. Because if you're in that middle
- 11:48Speaker 1: of that grunt and it's kind of sort of fizzling
- 11:51Speaker 1: out and then maybe you just have a dry throat.
- 11:54Speaker 1: You're playing a game with tennis or something, so the
- 11:56Speaker 1: grunt might naturally stop, but you're still mid. It's hard
- 11:59Speaker 1: to stop mid grunt, so there might be just a
- 12:01Speaker 1: dip in the decibels and then the grunt continues, So
- 12:04Speaker 1: for her it feels like a continuous grunt. But for
- 12:06Speaker 1: everyone else in there, they're hearing two separate grunts.
- 12:09Speaker 2: No, I think you're wrong here. We're gonna get deep
- 12:12Speaker 2: in the weeds of grunt debate. Absolutely, but no, the
- 12:16Speaker 2: pause implies the extended the oh shit, it's going out
- 12:23Speaker 2: noise that she must Yeah, it's vitelinus to let to
- 12:26Speaker 2: play on the ball.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Yeah, and then therefore it's hindrance. Yeah. Well, is there
- 12:30Speaker 1: like in the laws of tennis, like an audio accompaniment
- 12:34Speaker 1: to the PDF for what are acceptable grunts?
- 12:37Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 12:38Speaker 2: Well, it's it's all up to the discretion of the
- 12:41Speaker 2: chair umpire in terms of when are you going to
- 12:43Speaker 2: start calling this.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Famously, Azarenka had a crazy grunt yeah.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Yeah, and they I think would occasionally call her out
- 12:52Speaker 2: on it. And then there's the debate if they're not
- 12:54Speaker 2: doing it in warm up, like what it's not necessary
- 12:56Speaker 2: to their game?
- 12:57Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, if you could have a grunt coach, know,
- 13:00Speaker 1: these teams are getting bigger and bigger, you bring someone
- 13:02Speaker 1: in to just work for like solely on your grunt,
- 13:05Speaker 1: and you could have a variety of different grunts that
- 13:07Speaker 1: mean different things and you could put opponents.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Off, right, So you think like there's a grunt language.
- 13:13Speaker 1: There's a grunt language. Absolutely, yeah, kind of like if
- 13:15Speaker 1: you ever go to Southeast Asia with the horns, the
- 13:17Speaker 1: horn the beeps in the traffic mean different things.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Well, we all have a difference beep dialect if you will.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Like there's a friendly like hey, yeah, that means like
- 13:27Speaker 1: I'm going to kill you. Yeah, yeah, yeah I should die. Yeah,
- 13:30Speaker 1: you should die. Exactly, you should die. I mean it's fascinating.
- 13:34Speaker 4: It was.
- 13:34Speaker 1: I mean the roof was open as well, was it. Yeah,
- 13:37Speaker 1: well it would have went but worse if it was
- 13:38Speaker 1: closed because crap the noise bouncing around. Yes, So just
- 13:41Speaker 1: think about that.
- 13:42Speaker 2: And that grunt chat was brought to you by Prime
- 13:45Speaker 2: Growing Time. Prime Growing Time grunted up with Piper Height.
- 13:50Speaker 1: So yeah, I was going to say, do we have
- 13:51Speaker 1: a sponsor a Prime and groin time. Piper Hearts had
- 13:53Speaker 1: come to the table sensational.
- 13:55Speaker 2: But I think the Hindreds call Pisto her off and
- 13:59Speaker 2: she was then lit a fire under Sablanca because the
- 14:02Speaker 2: first couple games were pretty tight and she meant boom.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Then she went ballistic and absolutely just started hammering the ball,
- 14:08Speaker 2: walloping every points.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Played well, like I thought, there's some good rallies, like
- 14:13Speaker 1: some paler hitting on her end as well, but it
- 14:14Speaker 1: just wasn't enough.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think Sabalanca best at redirecting a serve
- 14:19Speaker 2: out wide and then the return to her forehand and
- 14:22Speaker 2: then a down the line chart. Yeah, she's just in
- 14:25Speaker 2: a league of her own with that.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Also, you know, no handshake, you would tell me off
- 14:29Speaker 1: a you wanted to dive into the political kind of
- 14:32Speaker 1: geopolitical reasons behind that, Mike, Do you want to take
- 14:34Speaker 1: it away now? Well, they don't shake hands. They don't
- 14:37Speaker 1: shake hands.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Ukrainian players don't shake hands with Russian players. Yeah, for
- 14:41Speaker 2: clear obvious reasons. Right, But the tournament will put a
- 14:45Speaker 2: disclaimer up that says that the conclusion of the match
- 14:48Speaker 2: there will be no handshake between the players. We appreciate
- 14:50Speaker 2: your respect for both athletes during and following the match.
- 14:53Speaker 2: All well and good totally, but then they in this match,
- 14:57Speaker 2: they played it when I believe Sabolanca was five to
- 15:00Speaker 2: two in the second set, so it Subida.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Lena looks up and sees that, yeah them. When I
- 15:08Speaker 1: was watching, the commentator did say, she goes, yeah that
- 15:10Speaker 1: we know handshake. I'm like, well, there's still three points.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Can have a huge comeback on our hands. Well, so
- 15:15Speaker 1: I don't understand why people get so annoyed about the
- 15:17Speaker 1: hand It's just a handshake. People are like desperate, desperate
- 15:21Speaker 1: to see them touch hands at the end of the game.
- 15:23Speaker 1: It's like, what does it matter, doesn't change anything. I
- 15:26Speaker 1: love the handshake. You do, I will you'll, you will highlight,
- 15:29Speaker 1: you'll fast food, fast forward, the highlights for the handshake.
- 15:31Speaker 2: If I think the match is going to be just
- 15:34Speaker 2: done and there's no comeback on the cards, Yeah, the
- 15:37Speaker 2: handshake often reveals a lot about the player's feelings towards
- 15:41Speaker 2: each other.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:43Speaker 2: We had a very testy one last week between Cristea
- 15:48Speaker 2: and Osaka.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Yeah, well that there was some heated moments in that match,
- 15:51Speaker 1: of course. Yeah.
- 15:52Speaker 2: So I mean I think, yeah, especially if something happens
- 15:55Speaker 2: during the match, the handshake can be a very telling indication.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Do you think it's like, you go handshake? Is you
- 16:00Speaker 1: like options of handshakes? You can go, you can just
- 16:02Speaker 1: go the quick handshake. You're barely touching done, go up
- 16:06Speaker 1: to the chair, umpire, shake hands. You can go handshake,
- 16:09Speaker 1: lean in, say something like there's been beef. You're trying
- 16:11Speaker 1: to rectify something or or argue your position well.
- 16:14Speaker 2: As your Varenka said the whole garoun stop being a
- 16:17Speaker 2: big baby.
- 16:17Speaker 1: That's at yea, that's a good handshake, or the love
- 16:21Speaker 1: you handshake, and then going for the big, deep seated
- 16:24Speaker 1: hug French case. Yeah you whisper in their ear. I
- 16:26Speaker 1: got you again, suck it.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Oh dude, he did Rivalry Tennis edition.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Oh could we get the IP for that? We can
- 16:35Speaker 1: sell that immediately. Yeah. So the final Rebeccena versus Sabolenca.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Who do you got? I think Sabrilnca. I think she
- 16:43Speaker 1: might be hungry from last year. Yeah, but then I
- 16:46Speaker 1: guess the same could be sented for Rebeccaha looking to
- 16:49Speaker 1: get some revenge. So I like, I mean, I'm just
- 16:51Speaker 1: actually excited. I legit think we're going to have a
- 16:53Speaker 1: three set epic. Yeah, and I don't know, like I
- 16:57Speaker 1: don't know, I think it's anyone's anyone's match.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Okay, I mean yeah, a three set epic would be fantastic,
- 17:03Speaker 2: Like I said, their twenty twenty three match was amazing. Yeah,
- 17:06Speaker 2: I'm leaning Rebeccena. She was solid at the end of
- 17:11Speaker 2: last year, winning tournaments and stuff. So she's come into
- 17:14Speaker 2: this year with that form and I think throughout the
- 17:17Speaker 2: tournament she's been the better player okay, and she's had
- 17:21Speaker 2: a real statement win against Iagashavontek the other day.
- 17:26Speaker 1: This room is suffering. I forgot to say that.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Right to us at podlabor at toss dot com dot au.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Give us all your suggestions and thoughts and feedback, give
- 17:38Speaker 2: us five stars and a nice review. Our producers love
- 17:42Speaker 2: coming in and telling us bad reviews without us asking.
- 17:47Speaker 2: They're like, hey, someone commented the songs are terrible.
- 17:51Speaker 1: The aceman the other day. This wasn't even written down.
- 17:54Speaker 1: He just goes, my sister does not like the podcast.
- 17:58Speaker 2: I think it was more. He goes, Oh, I had
- 18:00Speaker 2: my sister watch. She said, Oh, they seem fun to
- 18:02Speaker 2: hang out with, but not good on a pod.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Yes, well, mate, we're in front of the microphones are
- 18:07Speaker 1: about to record a podcast. Thank you for that uplifting
- 18:10Speaker 1: and inspiring story.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Some other quick news from the double world, some Australian
- 18:18Speaker 2: results going the way. Boy of the Hometown Paul men's
- 18:22Speaker 2: and Coobler are through to the men's final.
- 18:24Speaker 1: They're playing Harrison and Scoop. I can never say skupsky
- 18:29Speaker 1: and they're seated number one. I think so yeah, okay,
- 18:31Speaker 1: I think a bit of Aussie spirit will get that done.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Channel a bit of you know, the boys on the
- 18:36Speaker 1: beach and Gallipoli. We can we can get that one
- 18:37Speaker 1: across the line. Oh well, yeah, I might go down
- 18:40Speaker 1: there and give them a little pre match pep up.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Okay, what what's the fiery speech that you've given.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna say, God, this country has been through a lot.
- 18:52Speaker 1: We've been for a lot. Things have happened where we
- 18:57Speaker 1: need a leader. We need someone to stand up, and
- 19:00Speaker 1: it's you, guys. You need to unite everyone together. And
- 19:04Speaker 1: the only way you can do that is if you
- 19:05Speaker 1: beat the crap out of these two that once an American.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I don't this English and this American guy get down
- 19:13Speaker 1: there and do us proud? All right? Do you think
- 19:15Speaker 1: that would pump them up? Errol stopped crying. It's fine, mate,
- 19:21Speaker 1: I get it. It's emotional. The English dropped us on
- 19:25Speaker 1: the wrong beach, do you remember that?
- 19:27Speaker 2: But the Americans like you guys, you know you worship
- 19:30Speaker 2: yours everything totally.
- 19:32Speaker 1: That's it.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Orcust Forever and Kodeki and peers Australians through and the
- 19:38Speaker 2: mix doubles final. So the Australians still, you know, representing
- 19:43Speaker 2: the country.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Well, it's good. That's important. Double the team spirit, it's
- 19:46Speaker 1: what we do. Well yeah, well let's get into the
- 19:50Speaker 1: headline calls. Wow, all right, this is big. The production value,
- 19:59Speaker 1: he never amaze me, right, it's amazing. How can we
- 20:03Speaker 1: afford all of this?
- 20:04Speaker 2: This is like a James Cameron production?
- 20:06Speaker 1: It is absolutely They're all dressed in blue.
- 20:09Speaker 2: We should have spider camera.
- 20:11Speaker 1: That would be great. Yeah, dropping down from the roof,
- 20:13Speaker 1: just getting right under my nostril and then just piping
- 20:15Speaker 1: back up to the ceiling.
- 20:17Speaker 2: This is huge though.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Serena Williams is maybe coming back. She went on the
- 20:23Speaker 1: Today Show in America. I never miss it. It's my
- 20:26Speaker 1: wake up show of choice. I have to watch it
- 20:27Speaker 1: at ten pm over here. But it's fine, I get it.
- 20:30Speaker 1: And she was talking about she might be well. She
- 20:32Speaker 1: was asked whether she's going to come back, and she
- 20:34Speaker 1: didn't say yes. She didn't say no, and she was
- 20:36Speaker 1: a bit sheepish.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Are you returning to professional tennis.
- 20:39Speaker 5: I mean, really, are you asking this on the Today Show?
- 20:41Speaker 4: Yes?
- 20:42Speaker 5: I am God, they kill me if I didn't.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Tennis Nation, all your.
- 20:45Speaker 5: Fads goodness, yeah, oh my goodness.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Is that a no? Is that a no?
- 20:50Speaker 5: Well, now you're making me feel like you're handless? Said,
- 20:53Speaker 5: are labing?
- 20:53Speaker 1: This is distracted?
- 20:54Speaker 5: Okay, you didn't say yes or no.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I'm just having fun and enjoying my life right now.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I think she's coming back.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, the fact that she was trying to be
- 21:06Speaker 2: as ambiguous as possible about it, and she's in the
- 21:10Speaker 2: drug test. Why would you be in the drug testing
- 21:12Speaker 2: protocol if you had no.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Unless you just wanted everyone to know you'll clean. Yeah,
- 21:16Speaker 1: maybe she's got some other questions going on in her life.
- 21:19Speaker 1: She can be like see look, yeah, look, I don't know.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Would you want to see Serena come back? Of course?
- 21:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean Venus just played. She should have won
- 21:27Speaker 2: that first round match at the start of the tournament,
- 21:30Speaker 2: was up four zero and the total said, and then
- 21:32Speaker 2: you know, I.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Mean, Serena coming back means we could probably get her
- 21:35Speaker 1: on the pod.
- 21:36Speaker 2: How good would Sablenka Serena be? Oh yeah, that's two
- 21:39Speaker 2: of the hardest hitters of all time.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Yeah, but I guess you're not. I guess. Look, you're
- 21:43Speaker 1: never going to get prime Serena anymore. Like she's moved
- 21:45Speaker 1: on to a different phase of her life. But what
- 21:47Speaker 1: a spectacle. It'd be fantastic to go and see.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean And they asked Sablenka about it. Yeah,
- 21:53Speaker 2: you know, they're like, what do you think about Serena
- 21:54Speaker 2: coming back? And she was like, if it makes her happy.
- 21:58Speaker 1: I like that she has to come back. That's what
- 22:01Speaker 1: she wants to do.
- 22:02Speaker 2: I mean, I'd be pumped.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Man. It would be good for tennis. It'd be good
- 22:05Speaker 1: for everyone. Really, more old players should come back.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Who, like, who do you think?
- 22:09Speaker 4: You know?
- 22:10Speaker 1: I feel probably you would watch it. Get him out
- 22:14Speaker 1: there on you know, court twenty in the qualifying week
- 22:17Speaker 1: forty degree Melbourne. He yeah, you can do it, right?
- 22:20Speaker 1: How would he go? How would he go facing down
- 22:24Speaker 1: a Ben Shelton s? Yeah, like, well, you know, what
- 22:27Speaker 1: did you say on the podcast yesterday? The ball would
- 22:28Speaker 1: go through him, through his body. Yeah, I think it
- 22:31Speaker 1: could be good night.
- 22:32Speaker 2: For My name is blue Black Blue Black blue blick.
- 22:45Speaker 1: All right.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Quick predictions for the men's semi final by the time
- 22:49Speaker 2: this is out, I think they would have already happened,
- 22:51Speaker 2: or maybe Sinner Djokovic is an.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Epic and yeah could go. Yeah, it's one am in
- 22:55Speaker 1: the morning, you're loving it.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Yeah, what is Mike?
- 22:57Speaker 1: What am I can say? Think about that? Predictions? You
- 23:00Speaker 1: want mineing, you want to go first.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Okay, I'll go first. I think we'll get an Alkoraz
- 23:04Speaker 2: Center final. But I think hopefully both matches got to
- 23:09Speaker 2: four sets.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I like four sets for the Alcoraz game, I think,
- 23:14Speaker 1: And I also think at a little added prediction, I
- 23:16Speaker 1: think he gets some big laughs in the postmatch interview
- 23:19Speaker 1: with the crowd. I think that's exciting. I think Sinner
- 23:21Speaker 1: gets it done over Djokovic okay, but continues looking like
- 23:25Speaker 1: a sick Victorian child. Oh yeah, surprising everyone, and the
- 23:29Speaker 1: commentators will make a lot of fuss about it. They'll
- 23:32Speaker 1: be like, he's fading, but.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Nahna, he's coming it.
- 23:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:36Speaker 2: I mean other predictions. I think zwav wear's up to
- 23:40Speaker 2: eight chains.
- 23:40Speaker 1: I love that eight chains, and then there might be
- 23:43Speaker 1: talk that that contributed to his downfall, the weight of
- 23:47Speaker 1: the eight chains held him back potentially, oh yeah.
- 23:50Speaker 2: And then in the Djokovic Center match, Djokovic has three
- 23:56Speaker 2: negative interactions.
- 23:57Speaker 1: With the crowd yep and maybe one with the chair umpire,
- 24:02Speaker 1: and at one point he reveals his foot, his blistered foot.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Oh yeah, how many both blistered? Blistered. Now we're getting somewhere.
- 24:09Speaker 1: I'm going to say the fourteen blisters.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Fourteen blisters. You've heard it here first on Blister.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Watter, fantastic blister watch. Yes, don't get that in other
- 24:18Speaker 1: tennis media. Do you blister watch?
- 24:20Speaker 4: Now?
- 24:21Speaker 1: Thank god we're here adding to the landscape.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Man, I'm pumped for our interview today.
- 24:27Speaker 1: We got Jason Stacy, the man who has a lot
- 24:30Speaker 1: of kind of like I feel like there's a powerful
- 24:34Speaker 1: vibe around him. I've also got my texture ready to
- 24:37Speaker 1: write something on his face.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Well you should say who he is?
- 24:39Speaker 1: Oh, well, yeah, so he's He's Arena Sabllanca's strength and
- 24:43Speaker 1: fitness coach.
- 24:44Speaker 2: You just make us sound like we're drawing on random guests.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Wow, you know we try to at all times. But yeah,
- 24:49Speaker 1: and I'm not sure if you guys have seen it.
- 24:50Speaker 1: He often has things on his face. If you ever
- 24:52Speaker 1: see her box, which we'll ask him about. We will
- 24:54Speaker 1: ask him about. She draws, She draws on him.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Yeah, he's and I want, you know, just to hear
- 24:59Speaker 2: all his tips because we're weak little men, and maybe we.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Are weak little men. And he really he's good in
- 25:04Speaker 1: high pressure situations. That's where he kind of excels in.
- 25:07Speaker 1: And you know, this podcast is as high pressure as
- 25:09Speaker 1: it gets, and any tips that we can have to
- 25:11Speaker 1: improve our performance will be all easeful.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Maybe he can chisel us into the Adonosa's people think
- 25:19Speaker 2: we should be.
- 25:21Speaker 1: I wonder if people listen and don't watch this podcast, Oh,
- 25:25Speaker 1: and they wonder what we look like? What do you
- 25:29Speaker 1: think they think a couple of hunks? Email in what
- 25:34Speaker 1: you think? We've never seen us? And only this can
- 25:36Speaker 1: you draw a picture of what we look like and
- 25:39Speaker 1: send it in?
- 25:39Speaker 2: Even better? Yeah, please draw pictures of what you think
- 25:42Speaker 2: we look like, but not too hurtful. Enjoy our interview
- 25:47Speaker 2: with Jason Stacy.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Hey, it's Brett and Lexi from the Io Rap podcast.
- 25:53Speaker 4: We admit Mike and Lizzie are hilarious, but if you've
- 25:56Speaker 4: heard enough of them banging on and just want to
- 25:58Speaker 4: hear some actual tennis tour match analysis and reaction, come
- 26:02Speaker 4: and hang with us every day of the main draw
- 26:05Speaker 4: the I.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Wrap available wherever you get your podcasts, but they're.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Welcome back to pod Labor Arena. Our guest today is
- 26:16Speaker 2: Jason Stacy Arena Sabal Anklas Oh, I fucked up her name.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Let's try that again. Arena Sable, Anka's strength and conditioning coach,
- 26:27Speaker 2: performance coacher, et cetera.
- 26:30Speaker 1: You get him, Jason, he stuffed up her name. No,
- 26:32Speaker 1: a bit, you're a weapon, I reckon. You should teach
- 26:34Speaker 1: him a lesson.
- 26:36Speaker 5: No, no, I have a r I don't like beat
- 26:37Speaker 5: up on children. And so, oh.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Fantastic getting out. We are both safe. How's it going mate?
- 26:46Speaker 1: Thank you for coming in. This is very exciting you
- 26:50Speaker 1: you come. How often do you have you been to
- 26:52Speaker 1: Australia Quite a few times?
- 26:53Speaker 4: Now?
- 26:53Speaker 5: Well, well, actually I lived here for like fourteen years.
- 26:55Speaker 1: You lived here.
- 26:56Speaker 5: Three of my four kids were born here. Oh my,
- 26:58Speaker 5: actually in Melbourne. Actually I was here for about fourteen years.
- 27:00Speaker 5: I moved back to the States, I don't know, four
- 27:02Speaker 5: years ago.
- 27:03Speaker 2: So you're so, what you're saying is your second family
- 27:05Speaker 2: lives Yeah?
- 27:06Speaker 5: Basically, yeah, I love it here. It's great. Just he
- 27:09Speaker 5: had a lot of things. Reason went back home for
- 27:11Speaker 5: a while. The kids wanted to live there for a bit, so,
- 27:13Speaker 5: you know, had some opportunities for me over there, so
- 27:15Speaker 5: I went for it.
- 27:16Speaker 1: So fastic. Yeah, Yeah, where's home in the States Now?
- 27:19Speaker 5: I live sort of crossed the water from Seattle and
- 27:21Speaker 5: this peninsula where it's like forest and mountains and from
- 27:25Speaker 5: all the crazy people get up there.
- 27:27Speaker 1: It's very beautiful.
- 27:28Speaker 2: The Seahawks are in the Super Peper Bowl, you know,
- 27:31Speaker 2: not bad as well, you know, why not?
- 27:32Speaker 5: Let's go baby, Oh.
- 27:35Speaker 1: My god, don't stop talking about American football with Yeah.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Changed the name of the podcast immediately. So how did
- 27:42Speaker 1: you come to work with arena? And your backgrounds in
- 27:46Speaker 1: m m A Is that correct? The original background A.
- 27:48Speaker 5: Lot of things jus judo, A lot of rested grappling
- 27:51Speaker 5: type thing I did since I was you know, could
- 27:53Speaker 5: walk basically. Yeah, I mean, And as far as professional,
- 27:57Speaker 5: I worked a number of sports, you know, as far
- 27:58Speaker 5: as allied health like sage, physio strength conditioning, did a
- 28:03Speaker 5: lot of neuroscience study all that kind of saff a
- 28:04Speaker 5: little bit of everything. But my own personal sport would
- 28:07Speaker 5: be more Yeah, throwing in choking people is more exciting.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Hell yeah, are you teaching an arena? Some uh like
- 28:13Speaker 2: rear naked chokehold.
- 28:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:15Speaker 5: Well, you know there's a rule also, like you don't
- 28:17Speaker 5: want to teach your you know, potential adversaries, you know,
- 28:20Speaker 5: like enemies too much because you know you've got to
- 28:23Speaker 5: keep it safe, you know, just using it against us,
- 28:25Speaker 5: you know.
- 28:25Speaker 1: So well that's it gets like you see start yelling
- 28:28Speaker 1: at like her team sometimes and you're in there, like
- 28:31Speaker 1: if you had told us some stuff she mod turn it.
- 28:33Speaker 5: I mean, you never know. I mean we've I've implemented
- 28:35Speaker 5: a lot of like modified versions of certain things just
- 28:37Speaker 5: for like body awareness and really good like core strength
- 28:40Speaker 5: and coordination. But yeah, I mean even when she's yelling,
- 28:43Speaker 5: it's not really like at us. It's just like yelling
- 28:45Speaker 5: to get some stuff out. And sometimes it's like completely irrational.
- 28:48Speaker 5: Sometimes it makes sense, and sometimes we would do it
- 28:50Speaker 5: back at her just to make her, you know, get
- 28:51Speaker 5: her fired up a little bit.
- 28:52Speaker 1: When they bring you when I play it brings you
- 28:54Speaker 1: into the team, do they say what you're signing up to?
- 28:56Speaker 1: Get yo at?
- 28:57Speaker 5: Occasionally went Well, I mean I'm usually response for a
- 29:00Speaker 5: lot of the bringing people in and doing like who
- 29:02Speaker 5: comes and goes and how we kind of manage all that.
- 29:04Speaker 5: But I mean, yeah, there's usually some conversations on like
- 29:07Speaker 5: sort of you know, expectations on both ends, you know,
- 29:09Speaker 5: as well as how you behave and when do what
- 29:11Speaker 5: and you know, pet peeves of you know the group,
- 29:14Speaker 5: because I think that to me, the most important thing
- 29:16Speaker 5: is that environment, you know, the intern your internal environment,
- 29:18Speaker 5: but also your external environment. So just you know, I
- 29:20Speaker 5: look at my role a lot of making sure we
- 29:22Speaker 5: have the right people doing the right thing at the
- 29:23Speaker 5: right time. So it's just about having the right people
- 29:25Speaker 5: in the right combination. And there'll be different skill sets
- 29:28Speaker 5: that will be prioritized at different times, but also different
- 29:30Speaker 5: personalities that might need to be around her more or
- 29:33Speaker 5: less at certain times.
- 29:34Speaker 1: We could implement that without team he in mind, surround
- 29:38Speaker 1: ourselves with the right people.
- 29:40Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, come on, guys, you want to do
- 29:42Speaker 5: some do some jiu jitsu?
- 29:45Speaker 1: Yeah, make him tap out.
- 29:49Speaker 2: I want to say, yeah, yeah, are you Are you
- 29:51Speaker 2: in the on court like coaches hub you see yeah,
- 29:54Speaker 2: of course, see, of course. Yeah. Do you love that
- 29:56Speaker 2: it's where it is now? Or did you prefer the seats?
- 29:59Speaker 5: I mean, should chose not to be down there? It
- 30:01Speaker 5: was way more exposed to I think this year they
- 30:02Speaker 5: got some cover.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Yeah, and you kind of you're kind of a bit
- 30:05Speaker 1: more in the corner like yas year.
- 30:06Speaker 5: Was a little bit like whoa. And the reason we
- 30:08Speaker 5: didn't do it last year is that, you know, the
- 30:10Speaker 5: way we look as we're team and there's other members
- 30:12Speaker 5: of our team, and so we didn't really want to
- 30:13Speaker 5: split it up, you know what I mean, it didn't
- 30:15Speaker 5: seem right. Also for Arena, she needs to have one
- 30:17Speaker 5: place to focus, one voice, one sort of place to
- 30:19Speaker 5: look and not having to go back and forth. But
- 30:21Speaker 5: this year, we we talked about it. We had to,
- 30:23Speaker 5: you know, figure who could be down in the box
- 30:25Speaker 5: and who'd be the ideal people. So obviously Anton myself
- 30:27Speaker 5: were like the core group of guys. George is her
- 30:29Speaker 5: her we called boyfriend partner, you know future you never
- 30:34Speaker 5: know what happens next. We were in the golfp and yeah,
- 30:39Speaker 5: and then of course Max who's been you know, coming
- 30:41Speaker 5: helping us coaching as well. So yeah, that was like
- 30:43Speaker 5: the core group that needed to be on the court.
- 30:44Speaker 5: And we're also the ones that you know, we know
- 30:46Speaker 5: how to sort of manage the energy of the of
- 30:49Speaker 5: what's going on to keep her, you know, where she
- 30:51Speaker 5: needs to be.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Yeah, what's your take on the Hindrance call from last.
- 30:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I did think it was a little
- 30:57Speaker 5: bit weird. It was just like I mean, I think
- 30:59Speaker 5: the thing is this is that it's it's not something
- 31:02Speaker 5: that how would I put it. She does this all
- 31:04Speaker 5: the time, like when she kind of hits funny shit,
- 31:06Speaker 5: like the way she exhales and the noise she makes,
- 31:08Speaker 5: you can tell like if she felt good, if it
- 31:10Speaker 5: was going to go fast, if it was like oh,
- 31:12Speaker 5: like you know. So she always kind of has these
- 31:14Speaker 5: different sounds she makes based on like how she felt
- 31:16Speaker 5: with a shot or what she was doing. And it
- 31:18Speaker 5: wasn't really I mean I didn't go back and watch it.
- 31:21Speaker 5: I didn't really care what happened and moved on. She
- 31:23Speaker 5: used it as some sort of fuel. Yeah, And that's
- 31:27Speaker 5: and that's the thing sometimes that we do Sometimes we
- 31:29Speaker 5: need to have her a bit more o roused, or
- 31:30Speaker 5: sometimes you need to do something that kind of gets
- 31:32Speaker 5: in her head and gets ther irritated, because sometimes it's
- 31:34Speaker 5: like for her, she needs a little bit of a
- 31:36Speaker 5: spark sometimes, so she gets a little bit focus on
- 31:38Speaker 5: the wrong target or get a little bit her arousal
- 31:39Speaker 5: level drops down a little bit too much. For what
- 31:41Speaker 5: she needs to do to perform her best. Then you know,
- 31:43Speaker 5: like you said, her kind of yelling either at the
- 31:45Speaker 5: team or just yelling out loud. Sometimes we'll say something
- 31:48Speaker 5: we know is going to probably irritate her, but you
- 31:49Speaker 5: know what, that's going to get the best out of
- 31:51Speaker 5: her because it's going to like give her a little
- 31:52Speaker 5: bit of a boost and so okay.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Yeah, whatever she has to do. For example, she often
- 31:57Speaker 1: will be rotting things on your head.
- 32:00Speaker 5: Ye yeah, now this year is the my face on
- 32:02Speaker 5: your face?
- 32:03Speaker 1: Yeah, so you have no say She's like, this is
- 32:05Speaker 1: what I need to do. We have any vision?
- 32:06Speaker 2: I think we do have some vision. Yeah, this is
- 32:09Speaker 2: how we look here. So this is earlier in the tournament,
- 32:12Speaker 2: her fourth round match against some after this is you Oh.
- 32:16Speaker 5: Yeah, here we go.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Look at you. You want it there?
- 32:19Speaker 5: You're like right away, Hey, I'm ready, man, I don't care.
- 32:21Speaker 5: Bring it. What's you know? If it's helping, I don't care.
- 32:23Speaker 5: Write whatever you want.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Do you know what she's gonna write before she writes it?
- 32:26Speaker 5: Not always yesterday I knew because she goes, oh she
- 32:28Speaker 5: figured right before. But normally it's just I don't know.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Have you ever had a big fight, and then you know,
- 32:34Speaker 1: I haven't reconciled completely.
- 32:36Speaker 5: I like, like I said, I like paw message from
- 32:43Speaker 5: out What is Paul?
- 32:43Speaker 1: What do you like?
- 32:44Speaker 5: Paul?
- 32:45Speaker 1: I know what you're talking about, some kind of brand.
- 32:47Speaker 5: It was like something kind of smirred a little bit here.
- 32:49Speaker 5: But yeah, no, it was none of these things that
- 32:51Speaker 5: we do. We have a really plan ahead. It just
- 32:52Speaker 5: sort of happens. And you know, I had this accident
- 32:54Speaker 5: where I got the stitches and the fracture like the
- 32:57Speaker 5: start of the first match, and and then so that
- 33:00Speaker 5: the next match she just drew like fake stitches on
- 33:01Speaker 5: this side, and then it just became the thing like
- 33:04Speaker 5: it wasn't talked about planned. She's like, okay, well I
- 33:06Speaker 5: gotta keep right on in your face. And then I'm like, okay, whatever, Yeah,
- 33:08Speaker 5: so's trying to come up with stitches on the other side. Yeah, yeah,
- 33:11Speaker 5: I have a fracture and that stitch it held up
- 33:13Speaker 5: crazy like it should be. It's been just over a
- 33:14Speaker 5: week and she's just swollen and closed up.
- 33:16Speaker 2: But I thought draw that on.
- 33:19Speaker 5: No, No, I'm secretly on woivel Raine. So I heel
- 33:20Speaker 5: really fast. But it is pretty crazy. Even the doctor
- 33:23Speaker 5: like holy crab. It's like, how's it gone already?
- 33:25Speaker 2: So did you make a hindrance call in the gym
- 33:27Speaker 2: or something like?
- 33:27Speaker 5: No, I can tell you. I can tell you. What
- 33:30Speaker 5: happened is that there's these long black like mobility sticks.
- 33:33Speaker 5: There's a little bit of flux to it, and then
- 33:34Speaker 5: there's this hard rubber sort of like mallet. Yeah, and
- 33:36Speaker 5: I was holding it upright, so it was on the
- 33:38Speaker 5: floor sticking upright. I holded it, and she's trying to
- 33:40Speaker 5: take it from me. I'm like, you can't. You're not
- 33:42Speaker 5: going to get my base and get my balance, Like,
- 33:43Speaker 5: no one, no one here is going to take my
- 33:45Speaker 5: troy back balance, you know. So she's got it from
- 33:47Speaker 5: the top bit like pulling it with two arms or
- 33:49Speaker 5: hold by trying to get it so the thing's bent
- 33:51Speaker 5: way back and then she slipped in it and I
- 33:53Speaker 5: pulled it right into the mount was like perfectly a
- 33:55Speaker 5: place right in my face. I was like, it didn't hurt,
- 33:57Speaker 5: but it was definitely like I just saw the big
- 33:59Speaker 5: flash of white. I'm like, oh, this is going to
- 34:01Speaker 5: be bad, you know.
- 34:06Speaker 4: You know.
- 34:06Speaker 5: I was like talk about the cameras are everywhere. Yeah,
- 34:08Speaker 5: Like there's everywhere, and the one thing that we wanted
- 34:10Speaker 5: to get a video of. There's no video of it.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Oh dude, it's like, what the hell possible? Right to
- 34:15Speaker 1: social media? Your other little side hustle. Maybe I shouldn't
- 34:19Speaker 1: call it a thought, little little yeah, yeah, okay, something
- 34:23Speaker 1: very important that it's the pressure Code. Can you tell
- 34:27Speaker 1: us a bit about the Pressure Code? I sat it
- 34:29Speaker 1: on the back of you should just there, yeah.
- 34:31Speaker 5: Anti, I thought I should, like, you know, put that
- 34:32Speaker 5: thing up there. Yeah. Look, I wrote a book. I
- 34:34Speaker 5: wrote a book. It's called the Pressure Code, and it's
- 34:37Speaker 5: about how elite performers align their energy, their emotions, and
- 34:40Speaker 5: their environment. Not just how you I'd say, It's not
- 34:45Speaker 5: just so you can perform your best, yeah, but how
- 34:46Speaker 5: can you sustain that performance? And probably more important to
- 34:49Speaker 5: me is not to just sustain that performance, but do
- 34:50Speaker 5: so well being aligned with your own values, you know,
- 34:53Speaker 5: building a strong character doing it so that way, when
- 34:56Speaker 5: when you get to wherever it is that you achieve
- 34:58Speaker 5: and where you go that you're happy with who you are,
- 35:00Speaker 5: you can just be who you are. You see that
- 35:02Speaker 5: with Arena, She's just who she is. And that's the
- 35:04Speaker 5: thing we've been working on all these years, is you know,
- 35:06Speaker 5: managing your energy, which is your you know, physical and
- 35:08Speaker 5: mental energy, you know, managing your emotions. So a lot
- 35:11Speaker 5: of that is like how you process it, but also
- 35:12Speaker 5: how you express those things. And then your environment, which
- 35:15Speaker 5: is like we talked about a little bit already, is
- 35:17Speaker 5: your internal environment. So it's not just like the things
- 35:19Speaker 5: you eat and drink, but it's you know, the content
- 35:21Speaker 5: you you know, absorb on media and social media, the
- 35:25Speaker 5: conversations that you are part of or that you allow,
- 35:27Speaker 5: So anything that's kind of going into your system will
- 35:30Speaker 5: have influence on how you think and feel and behave
- 35:32Speaker 5: so and then obviously the extra environment, which again I
- 35:34Speaker 5: talked about before, is just the people around you, because
- 35:36Speaker 5: that is going to have you know, the influencing more
- 35:38Speaker 5: than you know. Yeah, well, and it's it's an important
- 35:41Speaker 5: part because there's even parts about you know, I know,
- 35:44Speaker 5: we had a guy on the team for a short
- 35:45Speaker 5: time we needed some specific help with some things, and
- 35:47Speaker 5: he's a very anxious sort of person. And the thing
- 35:50Speaker 5: that I had to help everyone understand is that even
- 35:52Speaker 5: if he had the perfect body language and he was
- 35:54Speaker 5: standing and you know, present himself visually the right way,
- 35:57Speaker 5: intern that you could just feel you know how you
- 35:59Speaker 5: walk around and just feel someone's angry, happy, excited. Said,
- 36:02Speaker 5: I mean you can I know, not to get off
- 36:04Speaker 5: track too much, but you can literally smell like we
- 36:06Speaker 5: sweat out various hormones and like it's like, you know,
- 36:09Speaker 5: like women when they're in the same place for a while,
- 36:10Speaker 5: they start to their cycle start. Yeah, like does that
- 36:13Speaker 5: not seem weird?
- 36:13Speaker 4: You?
- 36:13Speaker 5: How does that happen? So there's a lot of weird
- 36:15Speaker 5: things that we we we pick up on how people,
- 36:18Speaker 5: how people's body, how their intentions, their intentions, how they're
- 36:21Speaker 5: feeling their emotions. So anyway, so.
- 36:25Speaker 1: I'm not going to get too deep into it, but yeah,
- 36:26Speaker 1: give us a reading on salmon ar. Yeah, what how
- 36:29Speaker 1: are we presenting? We well, well, we've.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Been recorded so many podcasts we SYNCD up, Yeah, getting
- 36:38Speaker 2: perfectly like I like it. Well, Jason, awesome to have
- 36:41Speaker 2: you in here before you go, How do you think
- 36:44Speaker 2: Arena is going to go in the final Saturday?
- 36:46Speaker 5: Is that even a question? Are you talking about.
- 36:48Speaker 1: He's a cab journalist, buddy.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Is he going to say, well, I'm not the one
- 36:53Speaker 2: that's tell me about your little side project.
- 36:58Speaker 1: It's a bookmark, you'sould great book. Yeah, all books are
- 37:01Speaker 1: little to me because I've got a big brain.
- 37:02Speaker 5: Oh yes, yes, yes, this would be a good book.
- 37:04Speaker 5: It'll help you a lot, a lot of way. No,
- 37:06Speaker 5: I think she's I think obviously. I think tomorrow's match
- 37:08Speaker 5: is going to be fantastic, a lot of energy, a
- 37:10Speaker 5: lot of excitement. I think whoever can really be in
- 37:14Speaker 5: sort of aware of their own rhythm and their strengths,
- 37:16Speaker 5: and they can find their rhythm and maintain that they're
- 37:19Speaker 5: gonna they're gonna have a huge advantage. You know, it's
- 37:21Speaker 5: gonna be It's gonna be tough, though. I mean, I mean,
- 37:23Speaker 5: I think either one of those girls, if either gets
- 37:24Speaker 5: a little ahead, it's gonna be very hard to change.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Well, their twenty twenty three final was a classic.
- 37:29Speaker 5: It's a beautiful match.
- 37:30Speaker 1: I'm pumped.
- 37:31Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, it should be good.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Thanks for coming you mate, Before you go, can I
- 37:34Speaker 1: write something on your head? Maybe I'll write Arena and
- 37:37Speaker 1: then you know the world will see it till the final.
- 37:40Speaker 5: Well, I tell you what, I tell you what I
- 37:42Speaker 5: think the way to decide if you could or couldn't
- 37:44Speaker 5: is that I think maybe you and Arena need to
- 37:45Speaker 5: do like a little wrestling match and the winner of
- 37:48Speaker 5: that gets to decide.
- 37:51Speaker 1: No win situation for me.
- 37:54Speaker 5: Now, this this is a you know, it's part of
- 37:55Speaker 5: the routine right now, it's a you know, it's it's.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Just reserved for head stays clear, all right, Jason Stacy.
- 38:03Speaker 1: So awesome to have you in plug the book one
- 38:05Speaker 1: more time.
- 38:05Speaker 5: Yeah, the Performance Coach Baby. Actually it's available for sale
- 38:08Speaker 5: already around the world. It's a just pre order for
- 38:11Speaker 5: the moment, but it's a good At my website, the
- 38:13Speaker 5: pressure code dot com, you can not have a month
- 38:14Speaker 5: of newsletter. I'm starting just to talk about all the
- 38:16Speaker 5: things we're working on behind the scenes. And yeah, I'm
- 38:18Speaker 5: very excited about it. I think it's gonna help a
- 38:20Speaker 5: lot of people, I really hope.
- 38:21Speaker 1: So so fantastic coming home, very welcome.
- 38:24Speaker 5: Thanks for having me, guys, that was sick.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Thanks so much.
