- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jack Horse fans, welcome, and to do Vol.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_00]: Daily, presented by Genjag.com.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Luda.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so much for being here.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: Wednesday, December 3rd.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: We spoke with Liam Cohen earlier today.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: about this upcoming matchup with the cults.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we're going to dive into.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: I always think, and if you pay attention, I say this every week, I think it's a good day, Wednesday, to really start setting the table for the upcoming matchup and Liam Cohen always does a good job of providing as much insight as he possibly can.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: Outside of injury updates, he doesn't really get into that.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: Let's the injury report.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: Speak for itself.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously, we do have some information about who was participating in practice and what not today during the media portion of practice.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to dive into all that stuff.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all being here.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: You know,
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: huge game against the cult this weekend.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: We all know that the Jack's right and for the cult's right and for the Jaguars hold the tiebreaker right now, but whoever wins this game will be in first place in the AFC South.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: They will have a good shot at, you know, being probably
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: And all likelihood the winner of the AFC South is probably going to be the third seed in the AFC.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's how it is right now.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: You have a couple of teams up at the top of the AFC with the Broncos and the Patriots who even if they're not quite as good as their record indicates, which I'm not definitely saying that.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: But even if they're not, they probably are going to finish with a better overall record.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: Then the jag wars are the cold to everyone's.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: They have C-South and then you look at the AFC North and it's just not a division in which you think somebody's going to come up and jump whoever wins the AFC South.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: So that's where we're at.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: Whoever wins this game will have pole position in the AFC South and will have
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: really good chance of being the third seed in the AFC playoff race when all is set and done.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: And that makes it a massive game.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: So what did Liam Cohen talk about talked about?
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: The fact that getting the throwbacks out there this weekend, which is exciting.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: and it is very exciting.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: Anytime the Jaguars were the prowlers, it just feels like an elevated experience, and he talks about how big this game is being at home.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: He's been talking about that for the last few days, went on in a film network, whenever talking to the media, all these different things.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: He has talked about the importance of this game being a home game.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: and it is vitally important, in my opinion, for the fans to get out there and be loud, raucous, support that team, help the defense like this is the time when the jack wars have earned fans being out there.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: I know there's been a lot of times throughout jack wars history, especially the last 15 years where they haven't really earned
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: a lot of support.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: Well, this team this year being eight and four after what happened last year with a new regime, all that good stuff, to me, they have earned having a wild fan base out there on Sunday at 1 p.m. And so I'm excited to see what that's all about.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to be out there for sure.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: You can come say hi if you see me.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: It just, it feels like this game being at home really sets up well for the Jaguar, especially because you have another game I home next week against the Jets of two game homestand, where if you win these two games, you get to ten and four, but yeah.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's excited to have the opportunity for this team to go out and and show the fans what it's all about and they've been doing that recently no doubt about it
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: He is a game plan specific defense of coordinator, which means you can't just watch what he's done the last week, the last month, this season, and no exactly what you're going to get from Luana Ruma in big moments throughout a game.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: You just don't know.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: You don't know where or when the blitz will come from.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: You don't know if it's going to be on third down and they're going to bring five and it's going to be mugged up or it's going to be a safety or a nickel or a corner or they're going to bring seven and bring the house or they're only going to bring four, they're going to show pressure and drop out.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: So it's critical for Trevor Lawrence and the offensive line not only to ID where the potential blitzes could be coming from, pre-snap, but then
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: know where you can get the ball out too quickly if you are hot, if you do miss the fact that someone's coming, know where you can get the ball out too quickly.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: So Trevor Lawrence's job in this game against the cults.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's just not the same as it has been.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence has eviscerated the cults.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: Since 2022 I mean he has had huge, huge performances against the Indianapolis cults in large part due to Gus Bradley's defense in my opinion just being very
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: And so I personally think this is a much bigger challenge for Trevor Lawrence going against this cold defense and this is the first game of the year against the colds than it has been in the past.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: Not only are they more talented, now injuries taking a big hit, right?
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: But they are a better coached unit.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: There's no question about that in my mind.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: More difficult to deal with.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: And so Liam Cohen, in getting this offense ready, Trevor Lawrence and the offensive line getting ready pre-snap, it's huge, it's a different cult's team.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: It absolutely is.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: And speaking of it being a different cult's team, of course Mark Long or Guy, he asked Liam Cohen about,
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: rivalry where teams 1-10 straight games and that's, you know, the jaguars have not lost to the cults in Jacksonville in over a decade, which is crazy.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: I thought about asking Liam about it, but I was like, I don't want to, I don't want to put the jinx on it, but of course Mark Long was there to do that for us, so shout out to Mark, but
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Liam said he's never been a part of something like that, which it isn't saying.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's absolutely mind-boggling that the cults have not won in Jacksonville in over a decade, despite playing here every single year.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: There's really no words.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: But...
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen's message is to his team.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: This is a different colds team, different coaches, different players, new season, and we're new.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: This group of Jaguars has not done anything against the cults.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: We have to go out and handle our business and try to treat this as much as we can, like just going one and all every single week, which is what they've been doing this year.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: But at the same time, not just trying to hide from any of the facts, the facts of the situation are the facts.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: This is a big game.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: This is a game against a team.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: who is not one here in 10 years.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the facts.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we all acknowledge that.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: We all know that, but you have to try to stay focused on going one and know this week against these cults.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: Because again, you haven't earned anything.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: And,
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: Mark asked him, you know, do you tell the guys before the game, we don't want to be the team, we don't want to be the ones to lose to this team for the first time in 10 years in Jacksonville.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, you know, absolutely not, that's not where our focus is going to be.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: That's not where my mind is and I hope that's not where my players minds is.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, trying to downplay that as much as possible.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: One thing you can't downplay is Jonathan Taylor.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: He's incredible and I appreciate that co-employment pointed out not only can he get the tough yards and fight, fight, fight, fight.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: He can pick up 80 in a flash, 90 in a flash.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: You have one missed assignment on the outside and he's off to the races.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: You have over a pursuit from a couple guys and he's off to the races.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: So talked about you can't arm tackle, just not going to work against Jonathan Taylor.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's about pursuit.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody pursuing the ball, taking the right angles and clamp tackling.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: Which I hadn't heard him reference clamp tackling, but I mean, to me, that's like both arms around your opponent trying to clamp, right?
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: So, that's, it's low hanging fruit, saying like the Jaguars have to stop the run and if they do, they have a good chance of beating the colds, but I think it's really true.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: And a big part of that is Daniel Jones just isn't quite himself right now because he has a broken leg might be overstating in a bit right, but he has a fractured fibula.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: Daniel Jones does and while he's not sideline because of that, he is really, I mean, not the same player and he's still being effective for the most part passing from within the pocket.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: He hasn't been as good over the last few weeks as he was early in the season.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: But he is a mobile quarterback.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: He's a big physical athletic quarterback.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: He does not have that right now.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: He has become a pocket quarterback due to this injury.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think that votes well for the Jaguars, but he can still dice you up from the pocket if you're not on your piece and cues in this offense.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen talked a lot about his,
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: his balance and and just watching the the form of of him getting into the proper base maintaining that balance throughout his frame upper body and being very accurate.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: So they still have a good quarterback to deal with, but
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: not the same quarterback that opponents were having to deal with to start this season when you talk about Daniel Jones, not only being able to be mobile, but the pocket mobility, the escaping the pocket, the actually running with the football.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: That type of stuff just isn't there as much right now and it just can't be because of the injury.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: He was throughout his career, a very effective running quarterback and I don't think you're going to see that quarterback
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: Tyler Warren talked about Tyler Warren referenced a big time fourth and two against the Falcons where you have a player in perfect position to make a play and they can't because Tyler Warren is that much of a freak.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: And Tyler Warren, outside is Jonathan Taylor, that's the one.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: That's the player you just cannot let beat you and the jaguars have let a lot of opposing
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: throughout this year and throughout recent history.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: He's an unbelievable player.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_00]: 684 yards receiving so far as a rookie tie-in for touchdowns.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: Catch is almost everything thrown his way really good in the contested catch department as well.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: it's it's a tough job and the jacks have struggled with that and so that's a player you really worry about and absolutely is and they're going to you've heard Liam going talk about these types of tight ends before I thought overall they did a good job with
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: Trey McBride from Arizona, even though he had like a big day, he didn't destroy the chat.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like there were no explosive plays, there were no touchdowns.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think if you can do that in this one against Tyler Warren, that's going to boat pretty well for you.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: As far as injuries, again, Liam Cohen doesn't really talk about that stuff.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: He lets the injury report speak for itself, but during practice today, Eric Armstead was practicing with a club, he's dealing with a hand injury,
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: you had no do we wingered out there, no tray of on walker, no parker washant and no walker little.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: So those are going to be players to monitor for sure.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: You had a couple other guys out there and the non-contact jerseys, Patrick McCarray coming off the concussion, Devon Lloyd and one other player on Drone of Blankon right now, but
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: You'd really like to have Walker.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's too early to rule him out, but I think not practicing on Wednesday after not practicing the last couple of weeks does not vote well overall.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_00]: We'll keep our eyes on that for sure.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: Don't forget Club Jaguar tonight, 830 on UCF Jaguar's channel.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be UCF Jaguar.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: Jason from Jaguar's United myself, chopping it up, talking in Jack's football from 830 to 930 live.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: Come hang out with us Club Jaguar.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: Have a good one.
