Latest / The Uncensored Catholic / Show 67: Catholic teaching about the Blessed Virgin Mary, part 1 and the Seven Sorrows
Transcript
- 0:47Hey, y'all, welcome today's show. You know, this is my first
- 1:03podcast. I guess of the month of September. I think it's right.
- 1:08I may have done one on the first, but you know, it was
- 1:11the end of last week, so it feels like the beginning of September to
- 1:15me. And this is the month that we celebrate we honor the Blessed Virgin
- 1:23Mary as our lady of sorrows. Now well, of course August was also
- 1:32very important Mary, and month August and September are very We honor the Blessed
- 1:41Virgin Mary a lot in August and September. But I didn't think about doing
- 1:46it last month because you know, I just recently did it. I guess
- 1:49it was two or three part series on the Saints, and so I thought
- 1:55I had kind of covered everything. But then the other day, I guess
- 1:59it was Friday or Saturday, I had, you know, a good or
- 2:04respectful, if probably fairly unproductive discussion, not much of a debate, more
- 2:09of just a discussion with a Protestant friend on Twitter. And by the way,
- 2:15y'all, if you're on Twitter, so am I look me up Judson
- 2:17Carroll. But anyway, it's a nice guy, and he just truly does
- 2:23not understand Catholic belief about Saints, angels, and especially the Blessed Mother,
- 2:34kind of speaking two different languages. So this being September, I think I'm
- 2:40going to probably do a whole week on marrying topics. So we're going to
- 2:46get into that, and you know, it is it's very important. It's
- 2:53incredibly important that Catholics understand Catholic teaching on Mary and the Saints for our own
- 3:00good and so that we can explain it to Protestants in a way they'll understand.
- 3:06Now, having been a Protestant myself, I always think I can do
- 3:09that, but it's it's a real it's a real hard gap to bridge,
- 3:20and it's because of certain well fallacies, certain fallacies in Protestantism, and we'll
- 3:28get to those in just a minute. If we can, if we can
- 3:32dispense with some very obvious logical errors, then the two sides can come together
- 3:40at least a little more. And considering the belief in saints was a universal
- 3:47Christian belief from the entire history of the Catholic Church, and is believed in
- 3:57certain Protestant denominations specifically, I mean we think of the Anglicans and such.
- 4:02You know, I know, the Lutherans have their issues, but it's not
- 4:06We cannot say that the belief in the Saints is a purely Catholic belief,
- 4:13because I mean, the Jews believed in angels and saints. I mean,
- 4:16you know, remember when the guy was putting the grave with all the bones
- 4:23of Oh gosh, was it Alicia one of the big the great Old Testament
- 4:29prophets the dead man came back to life. I mean, the belief in
- 4:34you know, Abraham by the Jews as one who was you know, advocating
- 4:41for the Jewish people before God, was you know, widespread. So it's
- 4:45certainly not a purely Catholic belief. The mention in Revelations of the Saints offering
- 4:51their prayers to God kind of, you know, spells that out, but
- 4:58most people get so confused about the Book of Revelation that they don't They just
- 5:05kind of get lost, honestly. But then you know, in the Letters
- 5:10of Saint Paul, he says, we're surrounded by so great a cloud of
- 5:14witnesses. Well, who are those witnesses, Well, they're the Saints and
- 5:19the angels. And that's a very important passage that we're going to get into
- 5:27that really does biblically justify and emphatically proclaim to Catholic teaching on saints and angels.
- 5:36And I have discussed that before in previous shows, so I'm not gonna
- 5:40get into it in depth, but yeah, I mean, prosence will say,
- 5:45you know, well, if the saints are in heaven, they can't
- 5:47hear you, they can't see you. Yet, Saint Paul said, we're
- 5:50surrounded by a cloud of witnesses. Witness comes from the Latin testis, you
- 5:57know, and it means one who saw, one who heard a witness.
- 6:01You can't be a witness without the ability to see and hear what's going on.
- 6:06But anyway, we'll get into that. Let's start with our question and
- 6:10answers from radio replies. Remember we are we're discussing the nature of religion,
- 6:18all right, So the man asked. Nevertheless, the man continuently. You
- 6:24may remember from last week that the man had said that he thought religion was
- 6:29actually evil because it restrained men's freedom, and the priests explained to him one
- 6:33is either or let me see the exact quote, free from vice and subject
- 6:41to virtue, or free from virtue and subject to vice. He continues.
- 6:46Nevertheless, religion degrades man, giving a God complex or an inferiority complex,
- 6:54and a subconscious reference to a supernatural authority in all actions. The answer not
- 6:59subc just, but conscious reverence for the authority of God certainly guides the conduct
- 7:03of a religious man. Your terminology is based upon a false idea that the
- 7:09notion of God is a kind of psychological abnormality due to natural causes. It
- 7:14is true that one with the right idea of God is fully aware that he
- 7:16is personally inferior to God and therefore possesses the saving grace of humility. The
- 7:23man continues, Where are a man's ideals who cannot do right for right's sake
- 7:28but needs a heavenly policeman to keep him straight. Yeah, we're definitely talking
- 7:32to a progressive here, as a so called progressive i e. Communist liberal,
- 7:38whenever you want to call him. The answer to do right for right's
- 7:41sake implies right ought to be done? Why ought it to be done?
- 7:45Aught or must supposes some kind of law. All law derives its force from
- 7:50the right of the law giver to do right for right's sake. Pushes us
- 7:55back to doing right for the sake of the supreme author of all that is
- 7:58right. No one can do right for right's sake if he ignores God,
- 8:01for without God, he cannot prove that what he thinks to be right is
- 8:05right, or has any binding force at all. Also, in the state,
- 8:09we have laws and policemen, but it is absurd to say that no
- 8:13citizen is good except through the dread of the law, and that police are
- 8:16necessary to keep every one of us on the path of duty. A religious
- 8:20man knows that God is his father, and he serves as a child of
- 8:24God from a motive of love, a love which casts out servile fear without
- 8:30diminishing filial respect. You may recall that the progressive liberal, socialist, communist
- 8:37ideology is absolutely opposed to the Catholic Church especially, but really all religion.
- 8:43It seeks to put the state in place of religion. But the thing is
- 8:48without morality as given to us through God, whether the Ten Commandments of Moses,
- 8:56or the teachings of the Catholic Church or the words of the Bible.
- 8:58We have no law, We have no foundation, we have no basis for
- 9:05deciding what's right and wrong. You know, you may say, well,
- 9:09it's wrong to kill an innocent person. Well, all right, yeah,
- 9:11absolutely, Well what happened with the Soviets took over Russia. They massacred and
- 9:16murder and starved to death millions and millions and millions of people because their right
- 9:22was what was good for the state of the Soviet Union. All morality was
- 9:28subservient to the ideology of the party and the laws of the state. There
- 9:35is nothing that ever comes to good from rejecting the word of God. So
- 9:43let's get into today's show. So, as I mentioned one of the huge
- 9:52problems in Protestant understanding of saints. Okay, they will admit most of them,
- 10:01that is, a saint as a person who is in heaven, a
- 10:05person who's a good Christian and loves God, a friend of God so to
- 10:11speak, and is in heaven. The problem being that Protestant well, Protestant
- 10:20doctrine doesn't say really one way or another on this, But I think culturally
- 10:24Protestants have come to accept that Heaven is a static place in time. Frankly,
- 10:33that's absurd on its face. We know that God is not confined by
- 10:39time or space. God exists outside of time and space. Our world,
- 10:48our reality is finite. We are set in a place and time. We
- 10:56have physical limitations. The spiritual world does not. The Bible says that those
- 11:05in heaven in some way become like God. They share in the divinity of
- 11:09Christ. Well, obviously they become immortal. Those who are immortal are outside
- 11:16of time. They become spiritual. The spirit is not limited by physical realities
- 11:28of time and space. The spiritual existed, exists in all places at all
- 11:35time. So when someone thinks of heaven as a static place somewhere up there
- 11:45in the sky, I guess, or somewhere else, I don't. I
- 11:48don't even know if people really think about where heaven is, right, maybe
- 11:54they think of like you know, the Tower of Babel in the Bible,
- 11:56that they were going to build a stair away to Heaven, or tower that
- 12:00would reach all the way to Heaven. I should say, well, I
- 12:01mean, we know, we've we've explored space. We know it's infinite.
- 12:07The spiritual Heaven does not exist in the finite and static world. We know.
- 12:16Saint Padre Pio said that if for a moment we had clarity and we
- 12:20could see what was really happening, that we're surrounded at all times by legions
- 12:28of angels and demons and saints buying for our souls. He said, we
- 12:35were surrounded by so many that would block out the sun. That's a man.
- 12:41There's a spiritual visionary who saw the reality of earth, I mean,
- 12:45of life. He saw the physical and spiritual at the same time, and
- 12:50said, the spiritual world is all around us, with us at all times.
- 12:58Now we can think of this, you know, in biblical terms,
- 13:01Saint Paul said, we're surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. That's exactly
- 13:05what Padre Pio said. It's in the Bible. What is a witness but
- 13:09one who sees and hears. Now a Protestant will say that a saint in
- 13:13heaven cannot see you or hear your prayers. But is unless Saint Paul is
- 13:22lying, in which case the Bible is wrong and not inspired by the Holy
- 13:26Spirit. These saints do see and hear our prayers. They see us,
- 13:31they know every because they are not limited as we are. We can only
- 13:35hear with our ears and see with our eyes. And because they share in
- 13:39the divinity of Christ. Now, getting more into that, in a second,
- 13:41they see everything we do. They hear everything we say and they know
- 13:48our every thought. Wow, that seems like a bold statement, doesn't But
- 13:52then again, think if we believe the Bible. When we're baptized, and
- 14:00especially when we're confirmed, we become part of the body of Christ. All
- 14:05Christians are one. Those of us here on earth are like members of the
- 14:13body who have fallen asleep. You know, like if I don't know,
- 14:16sleep on your arm in a strange position. You wake up and it's totally
- 14:20numb. It can't perceive the rest of the body, and the rest of
- 14:24the body can only act upon the limb that's asleep with great force of will.
- 14:31I mean you can't. It cannot move itself. Okay, it's numb
- 14:35in immobile. That's our life on earth. We're a hand that's fallen asleep.
- 14:43The living, truly, fully alive and awake body of Christ is absolutely
- 14:48attached to us. The heart is still pumping blood to that limb. Granted
- 14:54it being asleep, it doesn't get a whole lot of communication, but as
- 14:58it begins to wake up through life and the spirit, it becomes more aware.
- 15:05This is not an analogy. These are the words of Jesus and the
- 15:07apostles we become part of the body of Christ, and the Bible tells us
- 15:13that the various members of the body have care for other members of the body,
- 15:18and that we shouldn't be separated from those members of the body. Well,
- 15:22think about this even a little bit further. That means that spiritually we
- 15:28are absolutely one with all Christians, especially those that are fully alive as saints
- 15:37in heaven. The Bible also tells us where is the Kingdom of God?
- 15:41Okay, well, the Kingdom of God is heaven. Where is the Kingdom
- 15:45of God? It's in your heart. Heaven is inside of you. Heaven
- 15:52is all around you. We are. The Bible says that everything lives and
- 15:58has it. It's life, it's being in God. Heaven is not a
- 16:04static place sitting somewhere in the sky. We are living in it. We
- 16:11just can't see it. We cannot see it because of the effects of sin,
- 16:18the original sin of our first parents. We instead of perceiving infinite unlimited
- 16:26by time and space, reality and the spiritual world all around us are like
- 16:32set over here in a box, and we can only see what's inside this
- 16:36box. You know, it's not Heaven that's separate from us. We are
- 16:41separated from Heaven due to our lack of perception. When you and again,
- 16:48I know this may be hard to understand, but you can go to the
- 16:52laws of physics. You know, all things are composed of energy, energy
- 16:56that's neither created nor destroyed, but merely changes forms. The source of that
- 17:00energy cannot be subject to the same laws of that energy. That, by
- 17:07definition says that God, the Creator is of an entirely different makeup. He's
- 17:12not physical, spiritual, and the spirit is unlimited. When we pray,
- 17:21how do we pray, Well, it doesn't matter if we pray silently or
- 17:23out loud. We think our prayers or we speak our prayers. What are
- 17:29we praying to? We're praying to God who lives in our heart. We
- 17:32know that every single Christian. I don't think there is a single Christian of
- 17:36any denomination that doesn't believe that the Holy Spirit dwells within. And when you
- 17:41pray, you pray to Jesus, you pray to God the Father. When
- 17:45you say to Our Father, you may say prayers to the Holy Spirit.
- 17:49That's more of a Catholic tradition really, of course the Pentecostals do. Now
- 17:53that's something the Pentecostals do as well. You're praying to God because you ve
- 18:00God lives in your heart. Where does God live? God lives in heaven.
- 18:03Where's heaven? Heaven's in your heart. It's incredibly difficult for the human
- 18:08mind to grasp, but the Bible tells us God sees everything we do.
- 18:14He knows our every thought, He knows what we've done and what we're going
- 18:17to do. How is that well, because God is not limited by time
- 18:21and space. But someone want to say, well, wait a minute,
- 18:22the saints are just human beings. And that's when my friend was arguing the
- 18:26other night. He said, Mary's just a human. Well, okay,
- 18:30but now she's in heaven and she's a saint, sharing in the nature of
- 18:37God, in the divinity, pure spirit, just as is God. Jesus
- 18:47and the angels. The angels likewise know you're every thought, you're every word,
- 18:52and you're every deed. Your guardian angel is literally standing right beside you
- 18:57right now, and you can't see him because of your earthly limitations. Don't
- 19:03believe me, What does Jesus say? Jesus said that you know, woe
- 19:07to you who you know hurt one of these little ones a child, you
- 19:11know, lead them astray. Do you not know their angels witnessed before the
- 19:15face of my father. So you have to admit that Jesus said that child's
- 19:21guardian angel stands before God. Okay, stands before God the Father, relating
- 19:27what's happening. As you know, God knows it. But that's the role
- 19:30of an angel, to be a messenger. That's what an angel is essentially,
- 19:34as a messenger in that role advocating for that child. Well, you
- 19:41don't have to believe me. Those are the words of Jesus. I mean,
- 19:42if Jesus hadn't said it, I would have no foundation for my belief.
- 19:48And we can look at the Book of Revelation and we see there's an
- 19:49angel assigned to each of these churches, and we can see the angels going
- 19:53back and forth as messengers. We can see the saints praying, we can
- 19:59go back to Jesus. This is a story of Lazarus and then were in
- 20:00the rich Man, and we know the rich Man was concerned for his family
- 20:04on earth. He said, if I could just go back and tell them
- 20:08how wrong I got it, they'd amend their lives. And of course Abraham
- 20:11says to him. What's going to be true of Jesus. If a man
- 20:18rose from the dead, they still wouldn't believe it. They have Moses and
- 20:22the prophets. Well, Jesus rose from the dead, and most still wouldn't
- 20:26believe it. But we know just through that story that the saints in heaven
- 20:32have concern for us. Where are the saints in heaven? Where is heaven?
- 20:37Heaven is within us and we live in it. Literally, we just
- 20:41cannot see it because the Bible says that we live and have our being in
- 20:45God. Okay, God lives in heaven. Therefore we live and have our
- 20:51being in heaven, but we are separated and secluded from Heaven because of our
- 20:56lack of perception. The holier one becomes more one can perceive. And that's
- 21:02why the saints have so many visions of heaven. There have been thousands of
- 21:07saints, I mean at least hundreds who have written it down of interacting with
- 21:14angels, with saints talking with Jesus, face to face visions of heaven,
- 21:21and where are they seeing Heaven? They're seeing it right before their eyes.
- 21:26I mean, think of the Book of Revelation. Suddenly the vision was opened
- 21:30up to Saint John, it's very difficult to understand, I know, But
- 21:38is it harder to understand? Is it harder to understand that reality than it
- 21:48is to believe that God would become man and be tortured and rejected and hated
- 21:56and killed for some one as worthless as me. No, I mean that's
- 22:03harder. That's much harder to understand that God would actually do that for me.
- 22:10Now, I'm sure we'll have to revisit this topic, and people are
- 22:14gonna have questions, and you know, we're going to have to discuss it
- 22:18in various ways. But it's also very important that Jesus said there are various
- 22:26levels in heaven right. First of all, Another argument that Protestants will make
- 22:32is that, well, okay, this saint spoke French, how can you
- 22:37understand your prayers in English? Or Mary would have spoken Aramaic. Well,
- 22:41they usually think she spoke Hebrew. Maybe she spoke a little Hebrew, but
- 22:45at the time most you spoke Aramaic. How can she understand your words in
- 22:48English? Remember, the Holy Spirit gave to the apostles at Pentecost the ability
- 22:55to understand and speak in all languages. Those in heaven are filled with the
- 23:00Holy Spirit at least as much as the apostles were on at Pentecost. Well,
- 23:06they say, how can they know your thoughts? Well, remember in
- 23:10the Bible, Saint Peter, for instance, when Simon the Magician came to
- 23:15him, he knew he read his soul. He read his mind and said,
- 23:19your silver die with you. Be perished with you for thinking you could
- 23:23buy the kingdom of heaven. When the couple was a Nias and Saphira,
- 23:29I think something like that, had dedicated a piece of land to be sold,
- 23:33and they were going to give the money to the church. And they
- 23:36came and lied about the amount of money they got. They decided they want
- 23:40to hold some back. He knew their thoughts. Saint Peter, immortal man
- 23:44on earth. The Bible says it, okay, you don't have to believe
- 23:47me. Look it up. He read the mind of the husband and said,
- 23:55you have lied to the Holy Spirit and dropped dead. Then he read
- 23:57the mind of the life is do you lie to the Holy Spirit? That's
- 24:02how filled with the Holy Spirit these saints were on earth. In Heaven,
- 24:07they're even more filled with the Holy Spirit. So if you believe the Bible,
- 24:14you believe Saints absolutely know your thoughts. You believe the Saints are concerned
- 24:19for you and offer prayers to God, because you know that's like the rich
- 24:25Man in the Bible or the Saints in a Book of Revelations. Okay,
- 24:32And if you believe that Heaven is within your heart and that Saints, as
- 24:37the Bible say, share in the divinity of Christ and become like Christ,
- 24:44you have to admit that the Saints in heaven are not bound by time and
- 24:48space, are not bound by any human limitation because they're now spiritual and share
- 24:55in the divinity of Christ and the mission of Christ, which is for your
- 24:59salvation. Therefore, they're with us right now. They see everything we do,
- 25:04know where every thought, everything we speak. They are advocating for us,
- 25:10as you know said in the Book of Revelation. They are praying for
- 25:14us. They are dedicated to helping us get to Heaven with them and join
- 25:22in the selvific mission of Christ, which is the absolute purpose of a Christian.
- 25:26It's not just to I don't know, to lay around in a hammock
- 25:30on a cloud all day or something. No, it's the actual role of
- 25:36the Christian is the salvation of humanity, which means. They are only goal
- 25:42is to help you get to Heaven. That's big stuff. And the more
- 25:49you come to understand that, the more you will come to appreciate not only
- 25:56the role of the Saints in your life. I mean again, you just
- 26:00think of how many times Saint Paul ask other people to pray for him.
- 26:03Pray for me, Please pray for me, Please pray for me. The
- 26:07Saints who are more alive than we are, and who can hear every word
- 26:11we say. All we're doing is saying, please pray for me. As
- 26:15part of the Family of God, the Body of Christ. The more we
- 26:18can understand that, the more we realize we are part of the same body.
- 26:23We are literally part of the same body of Christ. He's the head
- 26:32and we're the members. You can't cut it off, you can't separate it.
- 26:36When you begin to perceive the spiritual living vibrantly in the physical world,
- 26:45those kind of bills blocking your perception will start to fade away, and you're
- 26:52going to be well. Like Jesus said to the young man, the Kingdom
- 26:56of Heaven. You're very close to the Kingdom of heaven. How close can
- 27:02you be to the Kingdom of Heaven? Well, just think about it.
- 27:04Think about when the Transfiguration, when Jesus went up on the mountain and Moses
- 27:08and Elijah appeared. Wow, what was Moses, Elijah and Abraham, wasn't
- 27:14it. Yeah, we just celebrated that. I should have it right on
- 27:18the tip of my tongue. But anyway, where were they, they were?
- 27:22They were there, They were on earth. They were speaking to Jesus.
- 27:25The apostles, you know, saw them and freaked out, fell to
- 27:27the ground, and then you know, Saint Peter said we should build boost
- 27:30and everything. All they witnessed was reality. For a moment, the veils
- 27:37dropped from their eyes and there was Jesus with three of the greatest saints of
- 27:41the Old Testament. I mean, another ridiculous statement prosence will say is it's
- 27:47it's it's wrong to communicate with the dead. You can't do that. They're
- 27:49not dead, you know, Jesus said. The Bible says God is the
- 27:56God of the living, not of the dead, and Jesus communicating with these
- 28:00three saints was committing a sin that he's not God. Okay, you can't
- 28:04have it both ways either. The saints are there and you can talk with
- 28:08them. Just as Jesus did in the Transfiguration, and they're interested in care
- 28:12about what's going on earth, just as showed in the Transfiguration, or Jesus
- 28:18isn't God and the whole thing's made up or a myth or the work of
- 28:21the devil. You can't have it both ways. I mean, these teachings
- 28:26of the Catholic Church are very biblical and very valid, and until recently we're
- 28:32believed by all Christians, and it really defies logic to think that it could
- 28:37be otherwise. Otherwise you have to think there is some static place out there
- 28:45somewhere up in the sky. There's every you know, Christian and religious Jew
- 28:51that ever lived, and you know, probably some other people just hanging out
- 28:55all day with their hearts not really having anything to do. That's not what
- 29:00the Bible says. What the Bible says it all. I mean, they're
- 29:06you know, they're part of the body of Christ and the selvisfic mission of
- 29:11God. So let's get into as I said, this is the month of
- 29:18our Lady of Sorrows, So let's talk about the promises. Now. I
- 29:23don't know you may you may have heard of this before. It's called meditating
- 29:29on the Seven Sorrows. I try to do this daily. I'm trying.
- 29:33I'm going to try to do it every day in September certainly, and probably
- 29:37make it part of my daily prayers. Came from Ten Books. Ten Books,
- 29:41the Great Catholic publisher set out a nice email on this. I just
- 29:45thought I would share it, I said, looking at the liturgical calendar for
- 29:51the month of September, you see the amazing cloud of witnesses that surrounds us
- 29:55and intercedes for us. Yes, that's biblical. That's what the Bible says.
- 29:59They're saying, believe the Bible or don't. And if you don't believe
- 30:03the Bible, you really shouldn't call yourself a Protestant or a Christian. We
- 30:07are surrounded by Saint Matthew, Saint Gregory, the Great, Saint Pious,
- 30:11a Tent, Saint Robert Bellarman, Padre Pio, Saints Cosmos and Damien,
- 30:17Saint Vincent de Paul, Saint Peter Claver, I guess Mother Theresa, Saint
- 30:22John Christostom, Saint Jerome, the Archangels whose are all Saints Days in September.
- 30:26So you know this is very much Saints Days are part and parcel of
- 30:33Catholic tradition, and if all Protestants would just realize the reality of saints,
- 30:40whether they want to believe anything else about the Catholic Church, it would enrich
- 30:44their spiritual lives to no end. To no end, of course, I
- 30:48don't see how you could not be led to believing in other aspects of Catholic
- 30:52doctrine. But September feast days include the Most Holy Name of Mary, the
- 30:57expultation of the Cross, the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and right
- 31:02in the middle, on September fifteen, we have the Feast of our Lady
- 31:04of Sorrows, the feasts which the entire month is dedicated to. According to
- 31:11Saint Bridget of Sweden, who lived between thirteen oh three and thirteen seventy three,
- 31:17the Blessed Virgin grants seven graces to the souls who honor her daily,
- 31:22saying seven hell Mary's while meditating on her tears and suffering what does that mean?
- 31:29Okay, there are seven revealed sorrows, great sorrows of the Blessed Virgin
- 31:37Mary. The first is the prophecy of Simeon, which you know from the
- 31:40Bible, was when he said Basically, Jesus was going to be crucified,
- 31:44and a sword he would be the cause of division for many, and a
- 31:45sword would pierce her heart also right, think about that, say a hell
- 31:52Mary, Hell Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee Blessed
- 31:53are thou among women and blesses, fruit of thy womb, Jesus, Holy
- 31:57Mary, Mother of God. Pray for us centers now at the hour of
- 32:00our death. I'm in. The second is the flight into Egypt another story
- 32:06from the Bible, or the family had to pick up and flee to Egypt
- 32:07so Herod wouldn't kill Jesus. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord
- 32:12is with the blessed. Are there among women and blesses the fruit of thy
- 32:15wim Jesus, Holy Mary, Mother of God. Pray for us sinners now
- 32:17and at the hour of our death. Amen. The third is the losing
- 32:23of the child Jesus and the temple. You know, when he was twelve
- 32:25years old, he got left behind at the temple. Another story from the
- 32:29Bible. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with the blessed,
- 32:31are there among women and blesses the fruit of thy wom Jesus Holy Mary,
- 32:36Mother of God, Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of
- 32:37our death. The fourth is a meaning between our Lord and his Mother and
- 32:42the way to the crucifixion. It's not spelled out specifically in the Bible,
- 32:45but it's part of the way of the Cross. The apostles told what happened
- 32:52as Jesus was taken to be crucified. He met the women on the way
- 32:57to be crucified. And I mean, we know about Simon. The Cyrene
- 33:00came and helped him, was forced to help him carry the cross. This
- 33:04is one of the one of the instances we know of more through sacred tradition
- 33:10than actual written in the Bible. But we also know it to be true
- 33:15because we know the women were there at the foot of the cross. I
- 33:17mean, you know, even if we weren't told, we would assume it
- 33:21happened, because that does makes sense. Hail Mary, full of grace,
- 33:24solorders with the blessed are they among women and blesses the fruit of thyoem Jesus,
- 33:29Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now at the
- 33:30hour of our death. I've been The fifth is a crucifixion and death of
- 33:35Our Lord certainly told about the Bible. Hail Mary, full of grace,
- 33:38Solords, with the blessed are they among women and blesses the fruit of thyoem,
- 33:42Jesus, Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now
- 33:45and at the hour of our death. I'm in the six is taking our
- 33:47Lord's body down from the cross. And again it's in the Bible. Hail
- 33:52Mary, full of grace, solorders, with the blessed are thew among women
- 33:55and blesses the fruit of thyowem. Jesus, Holy Mary, Mother of God,
- 33:59pray for us centers now and at the hour of our death. I've
- 34:00been and the sevenths is laying the body the tim. I guess that that
- 34:06was Joseph Aramathea right, he was the one that gave the tim. Anyway,
- 34:09Heil Mary, full of gray sluters with the blessing are now among women,
- 34:14blesses the fruit of that woman. Jesus, Holy Mary, Mother of
- 34:15God, pray for us centers now and at the hour of our death.
- 34:19I mean now, in our human capacity, we can understand how the blessed
- 34:23Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, would have been absolutely frightened and sad
- 34:30by the prophecies of Simon, frightened and desperate in the flight to Egypt,
- 34:39distraught and upset when Jesus went missing in the temple, absolutely torn to shreds
- 34:49seeing her sign and carry the cross, devastated at the crucifixion, mourning when
- 34:58his body was taken down from the ross, and probably just beyond sad when
- 35:05he was laid in the tumb So that's meditating on the seven sorrows of the
- 35:09bussed Virgin Mary. This is what in her appearance, her message to Saint
- 35:15Bridget of Sweden, she said, if you meditate on these seven sorrows and
- 35:21say a hell Mary after each one, and those words the hell Mary comes
- 35:24directly from the Bible. There's the words of Saint Gabriel, there's the words
- 35:27of Saint Elizabeth. I'm sorry Gabriel the archangel and Saint Elizabeth. I mean
- 35:34those words come directly from the Bible, and followed by just pray for us
- 35:37now at the hour of our death, which is you know, questions are
- 35:39asked to pray for each other. So I mean a Protestant should be able
- 35:43to say hell Mary without any qualms whatsoever. She promised, I will grant
- 35:50peace to their families. That's one. Two they will be enlightened about the
- 35:54divine mysteries. Three I will console them in their pains and will accompany them
- 36:00in their work. Four. I will give them as much as they ask
- 36:04for, so long as it does not oppose the adorable will of my divine
- 36:07Son or the sanctification of their souls. Five. I will defend them and
- 36:12their spiritual battles with the infernal enemy, and I will protect them at every
- 36:15instance of their lives. Six I will visibly help them. At the moment
- 36:21of their death, they will see the face of their mother. Seven.
- 36:24I have obtained this grace from my divine Son that those who propagate this devotion
- 36:30to my tears and dolars dolars as Latin for sorrows, will be taken directly
- 36:36from this earthly life to eternal happiness, since all their sins will be forgiven,
- 36:39and my Son will be their eternal consolation and joy. All right,
- 36:45now, I can hear Prizes saying, wait a minute, she's just a
- 36:46woman, she can't do it. Well. Actually, remember, God says
- 36:51that there are different levels in heaven. Some have greater blessings in heaven based
- 36:58on how holy they were in life, and the Blessed Virgin Mary has the
- 37:01highest honor as being the mother of God, and he can absolutely grant these
- 37:07graces, just as the bones of the Prophet and the Old Testament brought that
- 37:10man back to life. Okay, that was a charism that Jesus granted to
- 37:17that saint, just as it says in the New Testament, a handkerchief carried
- 37:22by a Saint Peter given to a sick person would heal them. That was
- 37:27a charism given to that saint. This is the words of the Bible.
- 37:30Okay, no, I mean take issue, but if you're a Protestant,
- 37:34open up your Bible and read it. The saints in heaven are far more
- 37:37powerful than the saints on earth, and Jesus can give those special charisms or
- 37:43blessings or graces in fuller measure than we could ever imagine. And to the
- 37:51Blessed Virgin Mary, his mother, who suffered more in his earthly life for
- 37:54his sake than any other person can ever imagine, he's given the power to
- 38:01grant special favors. I think maybe it's a flaw of democracy. We think
- 38:07everyone's supposed to be equal. That's not the way it works in the Kingdom
- 38:14of God. That's not the way it works in any kingdom. In fact,
- 38:17Jesus specifically talking about the talents or you know, to him it was
- 38:23given much much will be expected. I mean, I could, I could
- 38:28go on and on and on about in a kingdom. A kingdom has officers,
- 38:34and those officers have certain duties. And this is the Kingdom of God.
- 38:39And in the Kingdom of God, the Queen of Heaven is the mother
- 38:44of the king. That's the way it actually was. In Judaism, the
- 38:49queen was always the queen mother, not the wife of the king, but
- 38:52his mother, and her advocacy is the most powerful thing, the most powerful
- 39:01resource that a Christian has, you know, short of the grace of God.
- 39:08And it all works in coordination and cooperation with the grace of God.
- 39:14If we, if Protestants could only understand that there are countless millions of righteous
- 39:21people, it says God, here's the prayers of the righteous, just waiting
- 39:25and hoping to be able to pray for them directly to God standing in his
- 39:30presence. I mean, you ask your earthly family and friends to pray for
- 39:36you. Imagine millions of the most holy spirit filled people praying for you.
- 39:44That's what the saints offer. And the queen of them all, the greatest
- 39:50of all of them, is the Blessed Virsion Mary, and we're going to
- 39:52get into that. I'm going to talk about why she's actually very special and
- 39:55not like other human beings. My friend Father, actually I think it is
- 40:00his name. I'm look. I need to learn to pronounce his name properly.
- 40:04I know him online. He's written two very good articles on this,
- 40:09and we'll start getting into that tomorrow. But for right now, just remember
- 40:14the Seven Sorrows. Those are their promises, and I mean those are great
- 40:20promises. And you know the Ten Books. It finishes it by saying,
- 40:25remember the words of Tobias to his son when praying and calling to mind his
- 40:30own death. Okay, if you're a Protestant, you have no idea who
- 40:31that is. Because see in the Book of Tobit the archangel Raphael actually appears
- 40:39and helps his Holy saintly family and says, I heard your prayers and took
- 40:45them to God, and God gave me permission to come help you. You
- 40:52know. So Martin Luther didn't like that. He cut it out. So
- 40:54that's why you're ignorant of the role of saints and angels, because Martin Luther
- 40:59was an Antichrist. Sorry if that offends you. He was a very,
- 41:02very, very bad man. But in the Original Bible, and in any
- 41:08Catholic Bible you pick up, or any Bible written before around the mid fourteen
- 41:15hundreds, you know, almost a thousand, five hundred years of the Church
- 41:19of Christianity, you would have had the Book of Tobit, and you should
- 41:23actually be quite offended that someone took that away from you, Someone who had
- 41:30no authority and no right took that away from you, and then changed the
- 41:34words of Jesus and cut out several other books. Anyway, Tobit to his
- 41:40son, when praying and calling to mind his own death, said here,
- 41:44my son, the words of my mouth, and lay them as a foundation
- 41:47in thy heart. When God shall take my soul, thou shalt bury my
- 41:52body, and thou shalt honor thy mother all of her life, for thou
- 41:55must be mindful what and how great the perils she suffered for thee in her
- 41:59womb. That's Tobe at four two through four. We place our trust in
- 42:05Jesus in his sacred heart. By uniting our hearts and prayers to that of
- 42:08His sorrowful Mother. Let us commit the September to pray daily, praying seven
- 42:14hill marries in sorrow for our sins and those of the whole world. That's
- 42:19another thing. We unite our hearts with the saints because they all make up
- 42:25the heart of the body of Christ. So y'all, I guess that's about
- 42:32it for today. Like I said, we're just going to delve deeper and
- 42:37deeper and deeper into this topic, and hopefully by the end you'll know how
- 42:42to defend Catholic belief in the Blessed Virgin Mary and saints and angels in general.
- 42:49And hopefully, if you're Protestant listening to this, maybe I have sparked
- 42:53your interests just a little bit. You know, you can contact me,
- 42:57you can email you, you can ask me any question. I am open
- 43:01to discussion, debate. What I'm not open to is insults. That's mainly
- 43:07usually when I get from Protestants. Just last week, a ladies I would
- 43:12take issue with the title of one of my shows. I messenger back and
- 43:16said, did you listen to it? She said, I listened to a
- 43:20minute, but it was all just Catholic lies. Okay, so if you
- 43:24listen to the first minute of my show, you might have heard a general
- 43:29question answer about the nature of religion and radio replies. Right, that was
- 43:35probably about the most ecumenical thing in radio replies. They were just talking about
- 43:38how religion is real and man has a duty to worship God. They didn't
- 43:45even get into what church to go to. So on her face, on
- 43:49his face, I knew she was lying, just flat outlying. Okay,
- 43:53you're not supposed to bear fault with false witness, right, but this lady
- 43:57who claims to be a female minister or something, plainly and flatly lied to
- 44:01me, but in so doing stated she was not going to listen to anything
- 44:06I had to say. I was just supposed to accept what she said without
- 44:09question. I went back and very briefly said, well, if you listen
- 44:17to it, you know I was quoting directly from the Bible. So your
- 44:21argument with me is not Your argument's not with me, it's with Jesus and
- 44:24the words of Saint Paul. And then I blocked her, and she then
- 44:32copied and reposted and said I was spreading Catholic lies. She doesn't even know
- 44:38what I was saying so, I mean, she just assumes anything Catholic is
- 44:42a lie, and thought she was really insulting me by calling me a priest,
- 44:45a Catholic priest. You know what, if that's the worst insult you
- 44:50can come up with, lady, I am so unworthy to be a priest.
- 44:54I am so much worse than that. But I'll take it. I'll
- 44:57take that as a great honor and say a prayer for you that God works
- 45:05on your heart and opens your ears to the truth. Anyway, That's all
- 45:09we can do is pray for some people. There are some people who are
- 45:14so self righteous and prideful that they would not even for a moment consider that
- 45:20they could be mistaken. Had I not ever considered I might be mistaken,
- 45:23I wouldn't be a Catholic now, because I mean, when I was at
- 45:29a Southern Baptist university thinking I was going to go into politics as a pro
- 45:32life politician and you know, be part of the whole moral majority and all
- 45:39that, I certainly didn't see myself becoming Catholic. I had to admit,
- 45:45Hey, maybe I got that wrong. I ought to look into what people
- 45:47actually believed about this. One hundred years ago two hundred years ago, five
- 45:52hundred years a thousand, and by the time I did my research, I
- 45:57realized I had no choice but to joined the Catholic Church because it's the only
- 46:00valid and legitimate church. And that's what they're afraid of. That's why they
- 46:07get so angry and defensive, because they'll have to admit they were wrong,
- 46:10their parents are wrong, their grandparents are wrong, and it's it's hard,
- 46:14it's going to take a lot of soul searching, but the fullness of the
- 46:17truth is in the Catholic Church and not to be found anywhere else on this
- 46:22earth. And give me enough time and actually listen to what I have to
- 46:25say, and I'll convince you that. I'll convince you about that, because
- 46:29it's not hard to defend the truth. It's very difficult to even untruths,
- 46:36because eventually evidence and logic will lead you to the point where you have to
- 46:40admit you were wrong. So that's why they have to deny history, and
- 46:45that's why they have to refuse to read books or to listen to my podcast
- 46:50and only live in an echo chamber where their own doctrines and beliefs and heresies
- 46:55are validated. So pray for that lady. Pray for my well meaning friend
- 47:01who actually you know, is interested in the Catholic position, but you know
- 47:07I've been as have yet been unable to convince him. Pray for all Protestants
- 47:13they will convert. Pray for all Muslims and Buddhists and Hindus and etcetera,
- 47:17etcetera, that they will convert eventually before the Lord comes again. They will.
- 47:24That's one of the promises of the Blessed Virgin Mary. They'll all know
- 47:30the truth and have the option of you accepting it or rejecting it and following
- 47:35Satan. There won't be a lot of confusion over what's right and wrong.
- 47:40You're either on God's side and fully aware of it, or on the side
- 47:44of the devil and fully aware of that. So y'all, in the words
- 47:47oh of Saint Padre Pio, pray, hope and don't worry, and I
- 47:51will talk to you next time.
