- Ben: Morning and welcome to your short-term rental bulletin. Your short-term rental crackdown is entering its final phrase and operators now have a clear deadline. The EU's new short-term rental framework is moving toward full implementation by May 2026. This we already know, but it is bringing mandatory host registration and platform data sharing across all member states, not new news. However, in the last few days, industry pressure has intensified from hospitality groups such as Hotcrack and EFAT, warn that short-term rentals remain under-regulated versus hotels, pointing to housing pressure, tax gaps and enforcement inconsistencies across Europe. At a country level, Ireland is pushing ahead with rules that is expected to effectively restrict short-term rents in rent pressure zones from May, a major supply shock if enforced. We're now seeing alignment, EU rules, national enforcement and industry lobbying all converging on tighter control of short-term mental supply. The era of light touch short-term mental regulation in Europe is ending and some compliance is about to become operational, not optional. This is your short-term mental bulletin. Thank you for watching and I will see you tomorrow.
