- 0:53Speaker 4: trip to one of my favorite places in the United
- 0:57Speaker 4: States of America, Kentucky, Bourbon Country, Florida Lee and of
- 1:04Speaker 4: course horses, horse racing, and they'll just sit out there
- 1:08Speaker 4: and look at horses, which is pretty amazing to me.
- 1:11Speaker 4: But I'll hang out, sip on good bourbon Elijah Craig Bourbon,
- 1:14Speaker 4: and act like I know. I had this guy break
- 1:17Speaker 4: down horse racing with me at the bar and I
- 1:19Speaker 4: don't know any I just sat there and nod I
- 1:22Speaker 4: was waiting on our group and I was in the
- 1:25Speaker 4: Omni Hotel if y'all were there in Louisville, Kentucky. And
- 1:28Speaker 4: this guy has bought into a bunch of horses, so
- 1:32Speaker 4: he owns He told me he owns five to seven
- 1:35Speaker 4: percent of a bunch of horses, and he's showing me
- 1:39Speaker 4: all these.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Graphics.
- 1:44Speaker 4: I'm like, dude, I was just trying to come down
- 1:46Speaker 4: here before dinner. Yeah, I took a nap, I showered,
- 1:52Speaker 4: I'm in a beautiful hotel, in a beautiful hotel bar.
- 1:57Speaker 4: I love the people watch and you're breaking down. However,
- 2:00Speaker 4: me hoort, But hey, it came from a good place,
- 2:03Speaker 4: and he was very passionate and excited about it. And
- 2:06Speaker 4: he may have been in the mob. He may not
- 2:08Speaker 4: get you.
- 2:08Speaker 1: A lot, man, but.
- 2:11Speaker 3: You know.
- 2:13Speaker 1: He's trying to give you the inside trading. He was.
- 2:17Speaker 4: He had been all, he goes all. He was like,
- 2:20Speaker 4: I've been in Saratoga. I've been here. He's following his horses.
- 2:25Speaker 4: He goes and watches him. Really, yeah, that's it.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I was like, well, that's pretty awesome.
- 2:32Speaker 5: You got a bunch of fives and sevens. Why wouldn't
- 2:33Speaker 5: you just get you know, a big chunk of one.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Well, I think his theory is if one hit.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Whether that's you know, yeah, that's a real tough deal.
- 2:46Speaker 1: But but the Kentucky trip was great. Elijah Craig.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Heaven Hill was great, and uh, you can go to
- 2:52Speaker 4: Kessler Prime tonight and get an Elijah Craig Old Fashioned
- 2:55Speaker 4: or Manhattan and enjoy it with a Rabbi Kessler dot
- 3:00Speaker 4: com to make a reservation. We're ESPN one oh five
- 3:03Speaker 4: nine the Zone, bow Bound, Straight Funk. We're gonna have
- 3:06Speaker 4: the straight funk tease of the week. Okay, ready, okay,
- 3:09Speaker 4: So straight funk Teas of the Week. I just think
- 3:13Speaker 4: that's easier than double down, don't you. I kept saying
- 3:17Speaker 4: it over and over the last week, and I literally
- 3:22Speaker 4: forgot about it.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I know you did. I know I like it. Hell,
- 3:27Speaker 1: I'm surprised you got here today. Me too. I almost
- 3:29Speaker 1: went to the other studio. Well there you go.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Straight funk Te's of the week every week during college
- 3:37Speaker 4: football season.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I'm ready.
- 3:38Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, now I actually sent you the graphic so
- 3:41Speaker 5: you'll see what I'm uh I'll be able to reference.
- 3:44Speaker 5: Oh yeah, okay, I'm locking loaded, baby, Okay, I've already
- 3:48Speaker 5: got what I need.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Heck yeah, it's easy, peasy. Oh here it is. I mean,
- 3:53Speaker 1: this is just easy. What a graphic? That's way? Is
- 3:58Speaker 1: this all the games it's the game of the year,
- 4:00Speaker 1: like they're notable games. And then it hasn't broken down
- 4:02Speaker 1: by week.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Oh, I see what you did and chat. This is
- 4:06Speaker 4: pretty well done. It's not bad, Okay, all right, so
- 4:10Speaker 4: I'll love you started with September twelfth instead of September fifth.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I don't acknowledge that.
- 4:16Speaker 4: Well, September fifth, we have Louisville ol Miss. That's not
- 4:19Speaker 4: a game of the year, and Clemson LSU that is
- 4:21Speaker 4: a game of the year. And I think we've got
- 4:25Speaker 4: a couple other here games. Yeah that actually, but I mean, yes,
- 4:29Speaker 4: Old Miss is better, but I don't think it's a gimme.
- 4:31Speaker 4: I give them a sixty percent chance to win sixty forty,
- 4:35Speaker 4: give Louisville a forty percent chance LSU Clemson. I go
- 4:39Speaker 4: l s U sixty and Clemson forty. I mean that
- 4:43Speaker 4: those could be again.
- 4:44Speaker 1: They could They may get away. I mean it may
- 4:47Speaker 1: get away from Louisville.
- 4:48Speaker 4: In the second, may in the first, but it may
- 4:50Speaker 4: in the second. Now Clemson, it could get away from
- 4:54Speaker 4: them in the first or second half. So maybe that's why.
- 4:56Speaker 4: But we do need to do September fifth too, Yes,
- 4:59Speaker 4: so just why.
- 5:00Speaker 1: But I like this. It looks good.
- 5:03Speaker 4: I like your graphic here, and we can follow along,
- 5:06Speaker 4: so straight font tease of the week powered by Pearl
- 5:10Speaker 4: River Resort, bab in the Biggest Style Golden Moon Casino.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Sportsbook. That's right, that's right, we'll break the boat. Okay.
- 5:23Speaker 4: So, uh, Elijah Craig and Rabbi's at Kessler Prime. Just
- 5:28Speaker 4: text Jackson and I and we'll meet you there. How
- 5:32Speaker 4: can you get in touch with us? So we've got
- 5:34Speaker 4: the Dancing Rabbit golf text line six oh one eight
- 5:38Speaker 4: eight five three seven seven six. You can find us
- 5:43Speaker 4: on X at Bow Bounds. I posted a bunch of
- 5:46Speaker 4: Kentucky pictures on Facebook. I need to do it on
- 5:49Speaker 4: the out of Bounds show page.
- 5:51Speaker 1: I'll do that. I did it on my personal page.
- 5:55Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, find us on X at Bow Bounds follow
- 5:59Speaker 4: us hang out with all that and the Key City,
- 6:04Speaker 4: Mississippi Queen, which is fabulous beer out of Vicksburg. Key
- 6:09Speaker 4: City coler line is six oh one seven zero seven
- 6:13Speaker 4: thirty seven point fifty.
- 6:15Speaker 1: This is incredible.
- 6:16Speaker 4: I was talking about how I flew into the wrong
- 6:18Speaker 4: airport on Thursday, which wasn't a big deal. You know,
- 6:20Speaker 4: it was easily manageable. I flew into Lexington instead Louisville.
- 6:24Speaker 4: I eventually ended up in Elizabethtown, which is right by Bardstown.
- 6:28Speaker 4: So it all worked out. This is funny as hell.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Josh on the Dancing Rabbit Golf tax Line. I flew
- 6:34Speaker 4: out to San Jose in twenty nineteen for work. Several
- 6:39Speaker 4: of us from across the country were flying out there
- 6:42Speaker 4: for meetings. One guy from Pennsylvania booked his flight to
- 6:47Speaker 4: San Jose Airport in Cabo, Mexico, instead of booking his
- 6:52Speaker 4: flight to San Jose, California. He didn't realize it until
- 6:57Speaker 4: they started handing out the papers for landing in another
- 7:00Speaker 4: their country when the flight was almost over. Now that's
- 7:04Speaker 4: a different deal. My Uber ride was only thirty minutes
- 7:08Speaker 4: longer because of flying into Lexington instead of Louisville. Uh,
- 7:12Speaker 4: that's funny that, you know what I'd have done. Sorry,
- 7:15Speaker 4: I'm staying in Cabo for the weekend, right, what I mean? Right,
- 7:18Speaker 4: just it happens. I'm going to get a cocktail and
- 7:21Speaker 4: I'm heading to the pool fate you know. Uh, y'all
- 7:24Speaker 4: can just send me an email bullet point on the
- 7:29Speaker 4: conference that I doubt was that important.
- 7:30Speaker 1: In all reality. That's what you do. You do. Not
- 7:32Speaker 1: leave Cabo. You can't. You can't leave Cob.
- 7:35Speaker 4: I mean they're handing you an ice cold cocktail in
- 7:39Speaker 4: the lobby before you walk out to the pool or
- 7:42Speaker 4: the beach.
- 7:44Speaker 5: A couple of vacation days and he called the balls
- 7:47Speaker 5: and like, hey man, I booked the wrong one.
- 7:48Speaker 1: I'm in Cabo.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, right, yeah, I believe in that. I think
- 7:54Speaker 4: that's funny.
- 7:55Speaker 1: It's incredible. Oh my love here, it'd be sold to
- 7:57Speaker 1: the balls.
- 7:58Speaker 4: William on the day dansing Rabbit GoF text line. We
- 8:01Speaker 4: were talking about Drew Brees earlier going into the Hall
- 8:03Speaker 4: of Fame. He goes, bo, we named my oldest son,
- 8:06Speaker 4: Breeze after Drew Brees.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Who do that? He says, with an exclamation point. I
- 8:11Speaker 1: love that.
- 8:12Speaker 4: So your son's name is Breeze. That's cool.
- 8:17Speaker 1: From Nick Bow.
- 8:17Speaker 4: In two thousand and nine, Breeze was asked to throw
- 8:20Speaker 4: ten footballs at an official Olympic archery target from twenty yards.
- 8:26Speaker 4: Brees hit the bull's eye every time, four of the
- 8:30Speaker 4: throws hit the dead center of the target. In contrast,
- 8:34Speaker 4: archers at the two thousand and eight Olympics hit the
- 8:38Speaker 4: bull's eye less than fifty percent.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Of the time. Damn yeah.
- 8:42Speaker 4: I think you can make a strong argument that he's
- 8:45Speaker 4: the most accurate passer in the history of football.
- 8:48Speaker 1: There's a very good shot.
- 8:50Speaker 4: The windows that he was able to just every single Sunday,
- 8:56Speaker 4: because it's all of them hit windows that are about
- 9:00Speaker 4: six by six, eight by eight inches, right, ten by
- 9:04Speaker 4: ten maybe, but depending on time and place and who
- 9:08Speaker 4: you're playing, you know, it's a small window. I think
- 9:12Speaker 4: you could you could make a strong argument he's the
- 9:15Speaker 4: most accurate passer in the history of the NFL.
- 9:20Speaker 1: He is downfield for sure. Man.
- 9:22Speaker 4: His short and intermediate passing game was incredible too, And
- 9:27Speaker 4: I think there's more traffic around the middle in that
- 9:31Speaker 4: intermediate passing game for the NFL. I mean, launching it
- 9:34Speaker 4: downfield is a skill, no question, but I think it's
- 9:38Speaker 4: something to be you know, weighed and considered Steve Robertson
- 9:41Speaker 4: at eight thirty.
- 10:21Speaker 5: Whoo, all right, maybe your fan base would rather lose.
- 10:27Speaker 4: To Alabama or maybe not. According to Diego Pavia, we
- 10:30Speaker 4: are the Ida Bounds Show, ESPN one oh five nine
- 10:35Speaker 4: The Zone. I'm your host, Bo Bounds. I have straight
- 10:38Speaker 4: funk with me. He's gonna have his straight funk teas
- 10:42Speaker 4: of the week for twenty twenty six football season. Straight
- 10:45Speaker 4: Funk Teas of the week brought to you by Elijah
- 10:49Speaker 4: Cragg and Pearl River Resort and the Saffron Chowder, Philip
- 10:54Speaker 4: Ems Holy Mary Olzepp. All right, so the straight funk
- 10:59Speaker 4: teas of the week. You've already done this graphic, which
- 11:02Speaker 4: is amazing to me. And so starting Labor Day you
- 11:07Speaker 4: may have to do Week zero, but definitely yeah, because
- 11:10Speaker 4: we've got North Carolina and whoever I mentioned over in Dublin, Ireland.
- 11:14Speaker 4: We've got some Power four games in Week zero. Well,
- 11:20Speaker 4: and then you've got UNLV in Myphis and Charles Huff
- 11:23Speaker 4: and Dan Mullen. I mean, we don't know where Dan
- 11:25Speaker 4: Mullen's gonna end up if he wins again at UNLB. Now,
- 11:30Speaker 4: Dan's in a different position than Barry otom Barry Odom
- 11:33Speaker 4: had to take a He took the bag as Lougan
- 11:36Speaker 4: Bill and I talked about several months ago. He decided,
- 11:40Speaker 4: because you don't ever know you're out in UNLB, you
- 11:42Speaker 4: could end up five and seven and not. So he
- 11:45Speaker 4: got five million a year at Purdue. I don't blame him.
- 11:48Speaker 4: Probably not gonna win there. Nobody does except Jeff Brohm
- 11:51Speaker 4: who's now at Louisville, who old miss will play in
- 11:54Speaker 4: Week one, everybody's tied together, but Dan Mullen and Charles
- 11:58Speaker 4: Huck play on.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Late at night.
- 12:03Speaker 4: I don't even know if it's a stake in Elijah
- 12:05Speaker 4: Craig game at nine o'clock. It's almost like Terra Massoux
- 12:09Speaker 4: and whatever you want to pair with it. It's the
- 12:10Speaker 4: dessert game. But Memphis at UNLV and people have their
- 12:18Speaker 4: owl on Charles Huff because he won it Marshall, he
- 12:22Speaker 4: won it Southern Miss. Can he bottle it one more
- 12:27Speaker 4: time and get into a power for job. Charles Huff
- 12:32Speaker 4: he coached at Penn State under James Franklin, Mississippi State
- 12:36Speaker 4: under Joe Morehead, Alabama under Nick Saban, and then took
- 12:41Speaker 4: that to Marshall where he won a conference championship, and
- 12:45Speaker 4: then got out of there and went to Southern Miss
- 12:48Speaker 4: And now he's at Memphis. Charles Huff, Dan Mullen, Week zero,
- 12:53Speaker 4: Las Vegas. So there were you got to do your
- 12:56Speaker 4: straight funk Tis of the week probably for all of it.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Gotcha, Yeah, already got them. They're winners.
- 13:04Speaker 4: This is Max says Boa. T's is just a lap
- 13:06Speaker 4: dance at the Gentleman's Club. Well, do y'all want to
- 13:08Speaker 4: move this I mean the problem here is a four
- 13:13Speaker 4: game parlay, right, I mean we could do not you know,
- 13:19Speaker 4: I could come up with another name.
- 13:20Speaker 1: We may hit one, but the teas is just two games.
- 13:23Speaker 4: We're keeping him at six points. There's no point in
- 13:27Speaker 4: buying this and being able to move it at ten
- 13:29Speaker 4: and all that. Let's just do it. You either get
- 13:33Speaker 4: to go up or down six. Right, that's plenty.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Okay. You can't pick a winner there. You don't even
- 13:37Speaker 1: be picking them.
- 13:38Speaker 4: Okay, all right, So the straight funk Teas of the
- 13:42Speaker 4: Week for the first time in twenty twenty six.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Right, good, good, good good.
- 13:48Speaker 4: I'm back from Kentucky and Bourbon Country. They're not talking
- 13:52Speaker 4: football like we are. Their Bourbon was one who was two.
- 14:01Speaker 4: There was some horse racing. Now, there were some NFL
- 14:05Speaker 4: with all the bars and restaurants and lobbies and all
- 14:07Speaker 4: that distilleries and man caves we were in or whatever.
- 14:10Speaker 4: And some of them have speakeasies now, by the way,
- 14:13Speaker 4: which are real. Chicken Cock has a speakeasy that's incredible.
- 14:19Speaker 4: If you go to Heaven Hill, Elijah Cragg, try to
- 14:25Speaker 4: try to schedule it around lunch, where you do your
- 14:28Speaker 4: tasting before or after lunch. Because the restaurant and bar
- 14:32Speaker 4: there is on the second floor of the Heaven Hill
- 14:35Speaker 4: Elijah Cragg Welcome Center, and it overlooks their beautiful distillery
- 14:40Speaker 4: and all the rick houses, and the food is really
- 14:43Speaker 4: good and their bartenders this makes sense.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I mean, we've got some.
- 14:48Speaker 4: Really good craft cocktail bartenders in the metro area. Those
- 14:53Speaker 4: ladies at the bar at Heaven Hill, at that bar
- 14:56Speaker 4: and restaurant that they have on site, they are in
- 15:00Speaker 4: credible and the food there's really good, and it's cool.
- 15:02Speaker 4: It's all windows overlooking the beautiful Kentucky landscape. It's really nice,
- 15:09Speaker 4: so I highly recommend, and it's good food. A lot
- 15:11Speaker 4: of times some of those bar and grills are hit
- 15:14Speaker 4: miss and they've done a fantastic that's some of the
- 15:16Speaker 4: best onion rings I've ever had in my life. And
- 15:19Speaker 4: the appetizers were great and so on. We'll keep you
- 15:24Speaker 4: updated on the Elijah Craig Barrel Picks, Hitting Taste, Italian
- 15:28Speaker 4: Kitchen and Heritage Chop House. And then of course they
- 15:30Speaker 4: also got a Heaven and Hill Heaven Hill bottled in
- 15:34Speaker 4: Bond Pick, and then they got a bunch of others
- 15:37Speaker 4: from other distilleries. So we'll keep you updated on all that,
- 15:42Speaker 4: and I think the Elijah Craig barrel pick for Briarwood
- 15:46Speaker 4: Wine and Spirits and Nathan McCarty is hitting this week
- 15:52Speaker 4: or next, so that's right in time for football. As
- 15:55Speaker 4: soon as we know that the Elijah Craig barrel pick
- 15:58Speaker 4: hits Briarwood Wine and Spirits, yes, we're gonna let It's
- 16:01Speaker 4: not gonna last long, so we will.
- 16:04Speaker 1: We'll let you know.
- 16:05Speaker 4: I think it's a fantastic barrel pick that we did
- 16:09Speaker 4: a while back, and when it hits, it's gonna be
- 16:13Speaker 4: a bunch of fun. You want to drop the breeze,
- 16:15Speaker 4: all right? Drew Brees going into the Pro Football Hall
- 16:17Speaker 4: of Fame. I know we dropped this last week, but
- 16:20Speaker 4: I love it. This is Brees talking about how everything
- 16:23Speaker 4: played out on why it wasn't the Miami Dolphins and
- 16:27Speaker 4: it was the New Orleans Saints and it changed everything
- 16:31Speaker 4: for the city of New.
- 16:32Speaker 6: Orleans ended up in Miami Dogs. I mean yeah close.
- 16:35Speaker 6: I mean on paper like that was that was an
- 16:37Speaker 6: obvious decision. It was Miami all the way. Miami had
- 16:40Speaker 6: Nick Saban. They had just come off a nine and
- 16:41Speaker 6: seven seas where they won like last seven in a row,
- 16:43Speaker 6: so they they kind of had it figured out. Defense
- 16:45Speaker 6: was lights out, Zach Thomas, Jason Taylor their offense. I
- 16:49Speaker 6: loved all their coaching staff. Mike Malarkey was the OC,
- 16:52Speaker 6: Jason Garrett quarterback coach. Hudson Help was there a line
- 16:55Speaker 6: coach who had then ur O line coach the year
- 16:56Speaker 6: before when we won the division. Love hud They were
- 16:59Speaker 6: running the same that we were running, like Miami Dolphins.
- 17:03Speaker 6: I'm sitting there eating dinner on Wayne Heizinger's yacht. He's
- 17:06Speaker 6: there at dinner talking about, Hey, we're gonna go. We're
- 17:08Speaker 6: gonna go play golf in Scotland every every summer with Dan.
- 17:12Speaker 6: I got out of helicopter over there. We're just gonna
- 17:14Speaker 6: hop around no State income packs. I'm like, dude, this
- 17:17Speaker 6: is yeah a paper Miami here I come.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:21Speaker 6: And then on the flip side, you got New Orleans right.
- 17:23Speaker 6: Six months post Katrina, some unknown head coach named Sean Payton.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Right, is this guy right?
- 17:28Speaker 6: And ironically five years previous when I was being when
- 17:31Speaker 6: I was being like in the draft Tom conn in
- 17:34Speaker 6: my agent, I had probably fifteen teams that I thought
- 17:36Speaker 6: my drafting and he's like, we're going through that list
- 17:39Speaker 6: leading up to draft day, and he's like, man, you
- 17:41Speaker 6: got all these great possibilities. He's like, man, you know, honestly,
- 17:44Speaker 6: the only one I would really not want you to
- 17:46Speaker 6: go to is the New Orleans Saints like kind of
- 17:47Speaker 6: dysfunctional party.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Town, this and that.
- 17:50Speaker 6: Like, so I had that ringing in my head as well. Right,
- 17:52Speaker 6: So again on paper, it's like this is so obvious,
- 17:56Speaker 6: and I'm not leaving anything to chance. I'm gonna go
- 17:58Speaker 6: and I'm gonna give each one like it's fair opportunity.
- 18:01Speaker 6: And like the Miami trip was amazing, with the exception
- 18:04Speaker 6: of they put me through the ringer like six hours
- 18:08Speaker 6: of these medical testing because I was only too like
- 18:12Speaker 6: eight weeks postop on an eight month rehab, so I
- 18:15Speaker 6: was nowhere close. I mean my arm, you know, I'm
- 18:17Speaker 6: still kind of in a sling, you know, and I
- 18:18Speaker 6: can't do anything, and they're they do the you know,
- 18:21Speaker 6: the saline solution, the contrast MRI. So I'm like in
- 18:24Speaker 6: an MRI two for two hours, just aching, right, I
- 18:26Speaker 6: get out of that. They stick these big needles in
- 18:28Speaker 6: my shoulder to test nerve endings. They're they're they're they're
- 18:31Speaker 6: wanting to test everything. So I just I got this
- 18:33Speaker 6: feeling of like doubt, like they don't really and and
- 18:37Speaker 6: then their doctors were the ones who told Saban, we
- 18:40Speaker 6: think he's got a twenty five percent chance of ever
- 18:42Speaker 6: coming back and playing again. And I go to New
- 18:45Speaker 6: Orleans and it's like you are our guy, like Sean Payton,
- 18:48Speaker 6: Mickey Limbs, you're our guy. Or building this offense around you.
- 18:52Speaker 6: They did everything they could to kind of roll out
- 18:53Speaker 6: the red carpet despite all the circumstances. I mean, Noorleans
- 18:56Speaker 6: was still destroyed, right, like right, And the epic story
- 18:59Speaker 6: is Sean Payton, after this great visit there, gets lost
- 19:03Speaker 6: in the Lakeview neighborhood and we're driving through there and
- 19:07Speaker 6: houses are off of foundations, Chevy truck upside down, the
- 19:09Speaker 6: living room. All of a sudden, car stops, there's a
- 19:11Speaker 6: tugboat in the middle of the road, and I'm looking
- 19:13Speaker 6: at my wife like are you seeing what I'm seeing?
- 19:15Speaker 6: But it's also one of those moments like, man, this
- 19:17Speaker 6: is so much bigger than just football, right, Like we
- 19:20Speaker 6: be a part of one of them, you know, the
- 19:21Speaker 6: resurrection of one of America's greatest cities, Like this is
- 19:23Speaker 6: God's calling. In our life, and so that was the
- 19:25Speaker 6: determining fact.
- 19:30Speaker 4: And the rest is history. Straight funk Man, kudos to
- 19:35Speaker 4: Mickey Loomis. Are you kidding me? I mean they were
- 19:39Speaker 4: in total disarray and he's able to land Sean Payton
- 19:42Speaker 4: and Drew Brees. All right, we're going to start well.
- 19:45Speaker 4: Coming up next Steve robertson Jean's page dot com two

- 21:36Speaker 4: robertson Jeanspage dot Com two four seven Sports. Steve joins
- 21:40Speaker 4: us on the Farm Bureau Insurance guest line.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Steve, can you.
- 21:47Speaker 4: Can you feel the excitement around Mississippi State football?
- 21:52Speaker 3: Well, we have our first media opportunity today and I
- 21:55Speaker 3: think that will so to flames just a little bit.
- 21:57Speaker 3: We'll have our one opportunity to speak back Garnett and
- 22:00Speaker 3: all the assistant coaches today, So it'll be a busy
- 22:04Speaker 3: day on campus, but also a busy day at jeans Page.
- 22:08Speaker 3: But but yeah, I mean, yeah, people kind of starting
- 22:11Speaker 3: to get pumped a little bit about this, you know.
- 22:13Speaker 3: And then you know, it's just like the month of
- 22:15Speaker 3: July is like the bed zone for us, Like we
- 22:18Speaker 3: have to really grind to go find content, and there's
- 22:20Speaker 3: only so many times you can write about, you know,
- 22:22Speaker 3: five newcomers to watch that sort of stuff. But yeah,
- 22:25Speaker 3: I mean it's it's here now, you know. And so
- 22:28Speaker 3: we'll start practice here on Thursday and have an opportunity
- 22:31Speaker 3: to deserve some of that, and you know we'll go
- 22:33Speaker 3: from there.
- 22:34Speaker 4: Okay, all right, so is this is this the first
- 22:37Speaker 4: time access to Zach Garnett since he was named defensive coordinator.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Yeah, and yeah, it's interesting too. You know, I'm not
- 22:45Speaker 3: to be able to be critical anybody. I would have
- 22:47Speaker 3: made it available back in the spring, sure, just to
- 22:50Speaker 3: kind of get those initial questions out of the way, right.
- 22:53Speaker 3: I mean, it's like, you know, a one's like coming
- 22:54Speaker 3: back because we're going to spend the bulk of that today.
- 22:58Speaker 3: You know, you get this, you know it's coming because
- 23:00Speaker 3: it needs to happen. You know, it's like, no, why
- 23:02Speaker 3: did you come back? Why was this a right opportunity
- 23:04Speaker 3: when we could have handled that in the spring and
- 23:06Speaker 3: then then spend today's opportunity. That's kind of talking about,
- 23:11Speaker 3: you know, the defense and the fall and things like that.
- 23:13Speaker 1: So right, Okay, So.
- 23:17Speaker 4: I had an ole miss media member on two weeks
- 23:21Speaker 4: ago asked this question for them, and that's actually a
- 23:25Speaker 4: hell of a debate on who their best player is
- 23:27Speaker 4: on the defense side of the football. So do you
- 23:32Speaker 4: go Isaac Smith or someone else? Kelly Jones? I mean,
- 23:40Speaker 4: you need somebody up front. Those guys are important, But
- 23:44Speaker 4: who is the most talented player on the defensive side
- 23:49Speaker 4: of the football.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Well, if you want to say talent. I would say
- 23:53Speaker 3: Kelly Jones just because of the fact, you know, he's
- 23:55Speaker 3: projected to be a first rounder, and you know he's
- 23:58Speaker 3: a freaks of an athlete and had a great year
- 24:00Speaker 3: last year. But I think Isaac Smith is probably the
- 24:02Speaker 3: most important guy because of his leadership and his own ability.
- 24:05Speaker 3: But I agree with you, you need somebody up front,
- 24:08Speaker 3: you know. I think the guy that could probably be
- 24:10Speaker 3: the biggest difference maker to this team is sil Mary
- 24:13Speaker 3: Williams transferring to guard to State, and you know, he
- 24:16Speaker 3: hasn't played a ton of snaps, but he's a guy
- 24:19Speaker 3: that was with Arnette last year at Florida State. They
- 24:21Speaker 3: know each other, he understands what's expected of them, and
- 24:24Speaker 3: so I think he's a guy that's probably a little
- 24:26Speaker 3: bit of a dark course there.
- 24:28Speaker 4: It is, uh, Isaac Smith.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Could he play?
- 24:34Speaker 4: I know he's not the same player, but Zach likes
- 24:38Speaker 4: Arnett likes to move people around, and I like that,
- 24:41Speaker 4: and guys are athletic and twitchy and kind of like
- 24:44Speaker 4: Perkins and old men. You know, you can you can
- 24:45Speaker 4: play him at all three levels. Do you think he'll
- 24:48Speaker 4: do that with Isaac Smith stee.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's some formats as will. I think
- 24:53Speaker 3: that's part of the deal with this defense is it's
- 24:56Speaker 3: so unpredictable, you know, and you can take a guy
- 24:59Speaker 3: it's a bit of between the that maybe doesn't have
- 25:01Speaker 3: the you know, the traditional measurements for certain positions, and
- 25:04Speaker 3: you can still find a place for them. And again,
- 25:07Speaker 3: Zach is one of those guys too, and just talking
- 25:09Speaker 3: to some of the guys in the off seats and
- 25:11Speaker 3: you know, guys come out a spy. You're see him
- 25:13Speaker 3: at Walmart and things like that, and they're really excited
- 25:15Speaker 3: about this defense because defensive players that have a defensive
- 25:19Speaker 3: mentality they want to attack. And over the course of
- 25:22Speaker 3: the last year two years, State has basically been like
- 25:25Speaker 3: a ven bit dumb break type scimatic defense. That's not
- 25:28Speaker 3: it what Arnette aren't. That's gonna be go to the
- 25:30Speaker 3: quarterback and crear game warmups, you know, And so that's
- 25:33Speaker 3: what players want. Players want to be able to pin
- 25:36Speaker 3: their ears back and just go chase the football. And
- 25:38Speaker 3: so I think from that aspect of it, there is
- 25:41Speaker 3: some freedom within those players rather than this kind of
- 25:46Speaker 3: controlled aggression, they're just gonna turn it loose. And I
- 25:49Speaker 3: think that in Mississippi State. You have to be a
- 25:51Speaker 3: little bit different than Zach Garnett and his teams certainly
- 25:54Speaker 3: are okay.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Are Nett?
- 25:59Speaker 4: You know, I'm not going to hold him to the
- 26:01Speaker 4: three three five because he moves people around so much.
- 26:05Speaker 4: I know you'll see a lot of that.
- 26:08Speaker 3: You know.
- 26:09Speaker 4: What's going to be interesting, Steve, is he spit a
- 26:16Speaker 4: year under Golding or was it two a year? Right?
- 26:21Speaker 4: And then and then Florida State and what he has
- 26:24Speaker 4: picked up that he likes and that he wants to
- 26:28Speaker 4: incorporate where you may see some new wrinkles that are
- 26:33Speaker 4: in the same vein a little bit different from what
- 26:36Speaker 4: you saw last in twenty twenty two.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Is that fair, Steve?
- 26:40Speaker 3: Yeah, everybody innovates, you know. And and it's like Arnett
- 26:44Speaker 3: said many times, and you have some apponent specific fires, right,
- 26:47Speaker 3: I mean the things you just kind of pick up
- 26:49Speaker 3: on tape and things that you see other teams us
- 26:52Speaker 3: that are successful against offenses that you're going to play.
- 26:55Speaker 3: And so yeah, back as an intelligent guy, that's one
- 26:58Speaker 3: of the reasons that he was elevated to the head
- 26:59Speaker 3: coat chief position in the first place. And granted it
- 27:02Speaker 3: was a job he wasn't quite ready for. But you know,
- 27:03Speaker 3: Mississippi State went to him and he answered the call,
- 27:06Speaker 3: which I think is one of the reasons is people
- 27:08Speaker 3: are so excited about bringing them back. But Zach's intelligent guy,
- 27:12Speaker 3: and he learns as he's done and kind of goes
- 27:15Speaker 3: along things, and so yeah, I think, hey, you pick
- 27:18Speaker 3: up things too, may pick up things there, and you
- 27:20Speaker 3: just kind of move forward with it. But but yeah,
- 27:23Speaker 3: I'm excited. And let's be honest about this, right. You know,
- 27:26Speaker 3: the Mississippi State offense has been pretty good last year especially,
- 27:31Speaker 3: you know, and so let me show him that he
- 27:33Speaker 3: can score. Can arnatt give him two extra possessions of
- 27:36Speaker 3: ball games?
- 27:37Speaker 1: Right?
- 27:37Speaker 3: And how significant?
- 27:38Speaker 6: You know?
- 27:38Speaker 3: Could could that be?
- 27:39Speaker 2: That?
- 27:40Speaker 3: I think that's probably where the rubber meets the road
- 27:43Speaker 3: with this team. Its improvement is going to come on
- 27:46Speaker 3: the defensive side of the football. I think even if
- 27:48Speaker 3: the offense is exactly what it was last year, I
- 27:51Speaker 3: think that's enough to go win six for seven games.
- 27:54Speaker 3: The defensive efforts got to be different and in turn,
- 27:57Speaker 3: the offense benefits and improvement on defense.
- 28:00Speaker 4: I so don't you expect them to take a slight
- 28:03Speaker 4: step back in the passing game. With Camarrio being a
- 28:06Speaker 4: true sophomore, but a big step forward knowing that Camrio
- 28:11Speaker 4: is a threat to get a first down at any
- 28:14Speaker 4: time and sometimes take it to the house running the football,
- 28:17Speaker 4: which will then make the offensive line better if they're
- 28:20Speaker 4: not worth a dam, and we'll make fluff better.
- 28:24Speaker 1: See.
- 28:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I think all those things can be true. I mean,
- 28:28Speaker 3: because yeah, you've got you're going to have a first
- 28:29Speaker 3: time started. I mean, yeah, he started two games for
- 28:32Speaker 3: you last year and did play rather extensively. But yeah,
- 28:35Speaker 3: as you saw that that first drive against Arkansas, he
- 28:37Speaker 3: steps up and throws just a dome, you know, to
- 28:40Speaker 3: Anthony Evans for a touchdown. Well the next drive, you know,
- 28:43Speaker 3: every ball was behind somebody, you know. But I think
- 28:46Speaker 3: a lot of that too, was just the excitement of
- 28:47Speaker 3: the moment. But yeah, there's gonna be some growing things.
- 28:50Speaker 3: But I do think, as you kind of mentioned too
- 28:52Speaker 3: about it, because of his ability to be a threat
- 28:54Speaker 3: in the running game, that forces defenses to play guys
- 28:57Speaker 3: closer with the land scrimmage, which should open up some
- 28:59Speaker 3: more passing windows in that intermediate passion game. Because with
- 29:03Speaker 3: Blake shape and listen to you, Blake is a good athlete,
- 29:06Speaker 3: but he wasn't a plus runner, so you didn't have
- 29:08Speaker 3: to respect that. And like when he ran his own read,
- 29:11Speaker 3: he really wasn't going to keep it right. Camario may
- 29:14Speaker 3: keep it go for a touchdown, and so I think
- 29:16Speaker 3: it puts the linebackers in conflict and pulls them a
- 29:19Speaker 3: little bit closer to the line of scrimmage, and perhaps
- 29:21Speaker 3: the safeties as well. And you've got some speed on
- 29:23Speaker 3: the outside you can make people pay with and so
- 29:26Speaker 3: I think Levy's going to be able to pick its
- 29:27Speaker 3: poison a little bit. But you're right, Camarrio's got to
- 29:31Speaker 3: be on point when it comes to the passing game.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Okay, Steve robertson Jean's Page dot com, they'll be uh.
- 29:39Speaker 4: They get to interview Barnette today among other coaches, and
- 29:43Speaker 4: so Arnett back in the fold after three years as
- 29:47Speaker 4: DC in one year is the interim and and he's back.
- 29:51Speaker 4: That's a major upgrade. I mean, bugs Bunny would have
- 29:54Speaker 4: been over Coleman Hutzler, but Arnett has proven on Saturdays
- 29:59Speaker 4: that he can be good as a defensive coordinator in
- 30:04Speaker 4: the SEC. Let's go back to Anthony Evans. I'm intrigued.
- 30:09Speaker 1: I like him. I didn't you know, I mean last year, Brendan.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Thompson overshadowed Anthony a little bit, although Evans had a
- 30:18Speaker 4: more than solid year. I like this kid's charisma and leadership.
- 30:23Speaker 4: I thought he was really really good down at SEC
- 30:27Speaker 4: media days. Have you had a chance to be around.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Him at all, Steve, Oh? Yeah?
- 30:33Speaker 3: I mean, and the things that I like about Aunt
- 30:36Speaker 3: is the run after the catch, right. I mean, you
- 30:38Speaker 3: go back that Arkansas game were talking about now that
- 30:41Speaker 3: that game went in touchdown. How many wide receivers in
- 30:43Speaker 3: Mississippi state history have you seen that could make that
- 30:47Speaker 3: catch out there, have the dexterity to stay in bounds
- 30:50Speaker 3: and then power through three tackles and then ultimately get
- 30:53Speaker 3: into the end zone to win a football game, right,
- 30:56Speaker 3: I Mean, there is a winning quality with here. But
- 30:59Speaker 3: you're right in so much facts, he was a little
- 31:00Speaker 3: bit overshadowed because you know, it's Brendan making the big
- 31:04Speaker 3: catch out on the flyout right and just kind of
- 31:06Speaker 3: getting outside of the numbers and just out running people.
- 31:09Speaker 3: You got some kids that can still do that, But
- 31:12Speaker 3: I think Anthony Evans is a guy that could possibly
- 31:15Speaker 3: challenge what Brendon Thompson did last year. From a statistical standpoint.
- 31:19Speaker 3: I mean, he had a ver eight hundred yard receiver
- 31:21Speaker 3: himself last year and he had a couple of games
- 31:24Speaker 3: where he kind of disappeared. Well, this year he's got
- 31:27Speaker 3: to go be the guy and be the next receiver
- 31:30Speaker 3: to go get drafted. But I love his approach to
- 31:32Speaker 3: the game. And I think Brenon Thompson getting drafted where
- 31:35Speaker 3: he did actually helps him too. It's because of the
- 31:39Speaker 3: fact he's like, hey, this is possible within this offense
- 31:42Speaker 3: and at the school. I just got to go work
- 31:44Speaker 3: hard and make it happen for myself.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Yeah, and you.
- 31:47Speaker 4: Mentioned Kevin Coleman two years ago. I know the season
- 31:51Speaker 4: was a disaster at two and ten, but he had
- 31:53Speaker 4: a hell of a year and then he transferred to
- 31:56Speaker 4: Missouri and didn't have near as good a year. So
- 31:59Speaker 4: I do think that that says something, don't you agree?
- 32:02Speaker 5: Oh?
- 32:02Speaker 2: I do.
- 32:03Speaker 3: And it's like, you know, we talked about multiple times,
- 32:06Speaker 3: I don't expect Lovey to have any problem getting wide
- 32:08Speaker 3: receivers because in the beginning it was just a promise. Well,
- 32:11Speaker 3: now we've got production. He's like, hey, we took Kevin Coleman,
- 32:14Speaker 3: who had done nothing in his college career, made him
- 32:17Speaker 3: an All SEC guy. We take Brendon Thompson, who had
- 32:20Speaker 3: done nothing in this college career, made him the school
- 32:23Speaker 3: leader in receiving yards and an all set performance. And
- 32:26Speaker 3: now both of us guys are in the National Football League.
- 32:28Speaker 3: And so before you're gonna say, hey, here's what we
- 32:32Speaker 3: want to do, now you can say here's what we've done,
- 32:34Speaker 3: and we can do the same for you.
- 32:36Speaker 1: All right, Steve Robertson talk And when does camp start?
- 32:41Speaker 3: Thursday?
- 32:43Speaker 4: Okay, so y'all talked to the How does it go today?
- 32:46Speaker 4: Are you allowed to talk to any of the ten
- 32:48Speaker 4: assistants under Levy?
- 32:50Speaker 3: Yeah, we're gonna think it's eleven people that we're going
- 32:53Speaker 3: to see today, and so it's all going to kind
- 32:55Speaker 3: of be in ten twelve minute increments, you know, you
- 32:58Speaker 3: just kind of line them up there. And this is
- 32:59Speaker 3: the only time we expect to talk to him in camp.
- 33:01Speaker 3: I mean's this kind of house it's been in the
- 33:03Speaker 3: Levee administration. But yeah, we'll get a chance to every
- 33:07Speaker 3: assistant coach. I don't know that we're going to get
- 33:09Speaker 3: the assistant assistant coaches, but we've got a full list.
- 33:13Speaker 3: But yeah, it'll be all the on the field guys
- 33:15Speaker 3: and the guys who go out recruiting, and and yeah,
- 33:17Speaker 3: it's a big day. I mean because like you know,
- 33:20Speaker 3: a lot of us, you know, we spend all this
- 33:21Speaker 3: time at the Rednecker of the area and down by
- 33:23Speaker 3: the river and things like that. Well, now all of
- 33:25Speaker 3: a sudden, you know, it's a week of football practice
- 33:28Speaker 3: on the high school and the college level, and so
- 33:30Speaker 3: you know, in some respects we're already in football, not
- 33:34Speaker 3: even in Mississippi State doesn't play until SIP sit Tim
- 33:36Speaker 3: of the fifth. But then you're gonna have Jackson Prepp
- 33:38Speaker 3: playing here in a couple of weeks, and the high
- 33:40Speaker 3: schools open up next week, and you know, it's it's here.
- 33:43Speaker 3: It's time to get excited.
- 33:45Speaker 4: Steve Robertson on the Out of Bounds show jeanspage dot
- 33:48Speaker 4: Com two four seven Sports, he'll have all kinds of
- 33:51Speaker 4: content with Jeff Levy, Zach Arnett and Philip Montgomery and more. Well,
- 33:58Speaker 4: please do me a favor and ask Philip Montgomery, the
- 34:01Speaker 4: new offensive assistant, what his role is going to be.
- 34:07Speaker 1: With Levy specifically. Steve.
- 34:11Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's a great question, you know, And I
- 34:13Speaker 3: think it's one of those things too, where you know
- 34:15Speaker 3: there's already a working relationship, right, I mean, it's just
- 34:17Speaker 3: like he would be overstepped him. Like I go back.
- 34:20Speaker 3: He and I both love Brew, right, Well, you remember
- 34:22Speaker 3: year one with Brew with Brew was here, Uh he
- 34:26Speaker 3: runs up there and calls the time out from the
- 34:29Speaker 3: sidelines and then Mallen loses it. Right. I don't know
- 34:31Speaker 3: if you remember that game. It was great because you
- 34:34Speaker 3: know him knowing Brew, it makes it even funnier, you know,
- 34:36Speaker 3: because uh, you know Brew being a former head coach.
- 34:39Speaker 3: But you know, Brew and Mallan didn't know each other,
- 34:43Speaker 3: you know, Moni and Levy do, and so everybody's going
- 34:47Speaker 3: to respect the head coach. But I do think Montgomery
- 34:49Speaker 3: is a dad didn't get in the headset that the
- 34:51Speaker 3: Jeff's don't listen to, you know, because number one, they
- 34:54Speaker 3: know each other, they've been in the trenches together. But
- 34:56Speaker 3: also to Mini's been a head coach before too. If
- 34:59Speaker 3: you don't go out hire Philip Montgomery and put handcuffs
- 35:02Speaker 3: on him, right, I mean, you go hire that guy
- 35:03Speaker 3: because he can help you get better. But he brings
- 35:06Speaker 3: value not just as a coach for the players, but
- 35:08Speaker 3: also as a guy that can be a valuable member
- 35:10Speaker 3: of your staff.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to know.
- 35:14Speaker 4: What he's doing, Like Jerry Kill comes in at Vanderbilt
- 35:22Speaker 4: and saves Clark Lee's job along with bringing Diego Pavia,
- 35:27Speaker 4: Tim Beck and so on. So yeah, I want to
- 35:30Speaker 4: know what is Philip Montgomery's define role specifically under Jeff Levy.
- 35:38Speaker 4: That's yeah, I mean what is he tasked to do
- 35:42Speaker 4: weekly and then on game day?
- 35:46Speaker 1: That's what I want to know because Montgomery and.
- 35:49Speaker 4: Arenett you know, could extend along with Camario and others,
- 35:54Speaker 4: but could extend his career.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Let's see you.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Down too, I mean Kevin Johnson and you look at
- 36:03Speaker 3: what like that's to me, that's one of the most
- 36:04Speaker 3: significant editions of the off season. You know, to go
- 36:08Speaker 3: get a guy that is instned at touch a high
- 36:10Speaker 3: level as an offensive coach and a quarterback coach. And
- 36:13Speaker 3: you know, you know, lev is a great quarterback coach
- 36:15Speaker 3: in his own right right, but when you when you
- 36:18Speaker 3: have a chance to bring in that wealth of experience
- 36:21Speaker 3: from the powerful level, it absolutely makes you better. You know,
- 36:25Speaker 3: and listen, no disrespect to that hole check, but you
- 36:28Speaker 3: know it's like you go back in hindsight, you know
- 36:29Speaker 3: it's you're bringing a guy onto the field for the
- 36:32Speaker 3: very first time in the Southeastern Conference, you know, and
- 36:36Speaker 3: so I know he's your guy. I know he understand
- 36:38Speaker 3: your playbook and your lexicon. But this is a tremendous
- 36:42Speaker 3: upgrade for Mississippi State to get Kevin Johns Okay, all.
- 36:46Speaker 4: Right, Steve Robertson on the out of bound ship and
- 36:48Speaker 4: the Farm Bureau Insurance guest line. Matt Brock will be
- 36:53Speaker 4: available to He is basically Arnett's right hand man, and
- 37:00Speaker 4: he'll coach linebackers State.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it's too funny too, like those two have kind
- 37:06Speaker 3: of become as stick as steams, and you know, they
- 37:09Speaker 3: were both on the first league staff, but they didn't
- 37:11Speaker 3: know each other before then. It's not like Garnett showed
- 37:13Speaker 3: up from Washington State with the rest of that crew.
- 37:16Speaker 3: You know, leech Ball is their way guys with him
- 37:18Speaker 3: and some of the defensive guys. But you know, those
- 37:21Speaker 3: guys just see defense the same way. And Matt Brock
- 37:25Speaker 3: is just as fiery as Zach Garnett is. He's just
- 37:29Speaker 3: not as demonstrative, Like you're not going to see Matt
- 37:31Speaker 3: Brock out there. You know, Pi'l Dropps somebody on the
- 37:33Speaker 3: sidelines after a Sack. You know, he's just he's a
- 37:36Speaker 3: little different. But that guy's so intense and I had
- 37:40Speaker 3: a chance to talk to him a couple of times
- 37:42Speaker 3: over the course of the summer, you know, get prospect
- 37:44Speaker 3: camps and stuff, and he is so jack to be back.
- 37:47Speaker 3: And then he brings Jaded Johnson back with him, right
- 37:49Speaker 3: because they up at Yukon with him working as GA.
- 37:52Speaker 3: And so you've got Barnett the architect of the defense.
- 37:56Speaker 3: You've got Matt Brock as the first lieutenant, and then
- 37:58Speaker 3: you brought Jet Johnson back, who's played in this game,
- 38:01Speaker 3: who has credibility in the room because he's also worn
- 38:04Speaker 3: the uniform. And so I think you'll see that entire
- 38:08Speaker 3: side of the football get better. But that linebacker room
- 38:11Speaker 3: with Errol Thompson at, Jeed Johnson and Matt Brock and
- 38:14Speaker 3: Zach Arnett back that line, that very talented young linebacker
- 38:18Speaker 3: room should be one of the strength of this team.
- 38:21Speaker 1: All right.
- 38:22Speaker 4: So Jet Johnson and Errol Thompson, former Mississippi State linebackers,
- 38:27Speaker 4: will be assisting on the defense and obviously will help
- 38:31Speaker 4: Matt Rock at the linebacker position.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Who's the backup quarterback.
- 38:37Speaker 3: Steve, Yeah, that's probably one of the bigger questions. And
- 38:41Speaker 3: I don't know. I hope it doesn't matter, right, but
- 38:44Speaker 3: I think it's between aj Swan and Jayden Rashada, of course,
- 38:48Speaker 3: and those are two guys that have done it. You know,
- 38:50Speaker 3: aj s one was a starter at app State. Get
- 38:52Speaker 3: a little bit banged up, but you know he's done it.
- 38:54Speaker 3: It was at Vanderbilt for a while, and you know,
- 38:57Speaker 3: Rashada was the guy. Obviously, he's one of the highest
- 38:59Speaker 3: recruited quarterbacks in the country. Here a couple of years
- 39:01Speaker 3: ago and really at the infancy of the nil era, right,
- 39:04Speaker 3: that was the big thing. If I didn't go into
- 39:06Speaker 3: Florida with that big deal that ultimately he had trouble
- 39:09Speaker 3: collecting on them, but eventually went to court and they
- 39:12Speaker 3: had an air of court settlement and then he transfers around,
- 39:14Speaker 3: goes Sacramento of State. And so this is a young
- 39:18Speaker 3: man that has a lot of ability, but so far
- 39:20Speaker 3: it hadn't hadn't realized his full potential. And so you know,
- 39:24Speaker 3: he should be your number two. But I think, you know,
- 39:28Speaker 3: as you get deeper in ball games, especially the non conference,
- 39:31Speaker 3: you know, if you're winning whatever, let those guys get
- 39:33Speaker 3: some reps. Some real game reps. But yeah, I think
- 39:36Speaker 3: those two are the ones that will battle was staying
- 39:37Speaker 3: out And of course you got some younger guys too
- 39:39Speaker 3: by bringing a quarter but yeah, their time will come.
- 39:43Speaker 3: But yeah, as far as you immediate this year, I
- 39:45Speaker 3: think you're back at quarterback battle by battles down to
- 39:49Speaker 3: Swana Shata.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Steve.
- 39:51Speaker 4: We have a listener on the Dancing Rabbit golf text
- 39:54Speaker 4: line Aiden Williams. What what are the what are the
- 39:59Speaker 4: expectations is there?
- 40:01Speaker 3: Well, he's finally healthy, right, and that's so huge, right,
- 40:04Speaker 3: And if you go back and live.
- 40:06Speaker 4: Wide receiver for our listeners who's from Rigeland, Go ahead, Steve, Sorry,
- 40:09Speaker 4: you go.
- 40:10Speaker 3: You go to you know, the Egg Bowl, and you
- 40:12Speaker 3: go through even the bowl game, and you finally saw
- 40:14Speaker 3: Aid and probably around ninety ninety five percent he had
- 40:18Speaker 3: some elements throughout the year. But yeah, he's gonna be
- 40:21Speaker 3: a big part of things. I think the very first
- 40:23Speaker 3: time the offense takes the field, he's on, you know,
- 40:25Speaker 3: he's lined up out there out wide, you know, and
- 40:27Speaker 3: so uh yeah, we need him to have the uh,
- 40:31Speaker 3: you know, the year he's always wanted to have. But
- 40:33Speaker 3: he made some big plays down in the stretch and
- 40:35Speaker 3: again he had he had a good spring and uh
- 40:38Speaker 3: again one hundred percent healthy. And you know, as well
- 40:40Speaker 3: as I do, the best ability in anything, it's availability,
- 40:44Speaker 3: and that was the thing last year. There were some
- 40:46Speaker 3: times he was just a little bit too banged up.
- 40:47Speaker 3: He couldn't go h But again, we're expecting big things
- 40:51Speaker 3: from him, and you know he can be a solid
- 40:53Speaker 3: number two or even three. This Reagan's kid is so
- 40:56Speaker 3: intriguing to me. You're transferred intom Oklahoma. Who was that
- 41:00Speaker 3: Oklahoma with Bernard Thompson for a while and obviously knows
- 41:04Speaker 3: Jeff Levy. It's so interesting to hear people talk about
- 41:07Speaker 3: him because you look at the numbers, is it's nothing
- 41:09Speaker 3: that wows you. But that was the case for Vernon
- 41:11Speaker 3: Thompson and Anthony Evams two and people like this kid.
- 41:14Speaker 3: It's going to be a difference maker. And nobody's been
- 41:16Speaker 3: talking about him. Nobody's talking about this Reagan's kid. He's
- 41:20Speaker 3: a little bit undersized, but you know, it's like they
- 41:22Speaker 3: used to say in the old days. You know, he's
- 41:24Speaker 3: fast as a water bug. I mean, you put him
- 41:26Speaker 3: out there in space, he's going to make people miss
- 41:28Speaker 3: and he's going to win the foot race of the
- 41:30Speaker 3: ends on and I think that's a guy that as
- 41:32Speaker 3: gonna nobody's talking about. In a couple of weeks into
- 41:34Speaker 3: this thing, people are gonna be like, hey, I kind
- 41:36Speaker 3: of like this kid, you know, because I think he
- 41:38Speaker 3: has some big playability.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Okay, so Zion Reagan's is that right?
- 41:45Speaker 3: That's right?
- 41:46Speaker 1: Okay?
- 41:47Speaker 4: Five seven five? But like you said, evidently can fly.
- 41:55Speaker 4: He had a personal best ten to three seven in
- 41:58Speaker 4: the hundred meter. I think that's probably pretty good, Steve.
- 42:03Speaker 3: So yeah, I think I think Kevin Curnis would be
- 42:05Speaker 3: impressed by that, right, look a look at a similar
- 42:09Speaker 3: skill set. Right. But again, that's the thing Jeff Lady.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Throughout his career, he's got production out of widers of
- 42:17Speaker 3: your position. And I think, you know, last year is
- 42:20Speaker 3: probably the most talented group he had left Old Miss,
- 42:23Speaker 3: and then all of a sudden you get to this
- 42:25Speaker 3: year and you feel like it this rooms a little
- 42:26Speaker 3: bit deeper. Now, will they be as productive as last year?
- 42:29Speaker 3: That remains to be seen, but the evidence would suggests
- 42:32Speaker 3: probably so.
- 42:34Speaker 4: All right, uh Steven his team jeanspage dot Com two
- 42:37Speaker 4: four seven Sports will have content from Levy Zach Barnett

- 42:48Speaker 4: is their first time to UH to interview or get
- 42:52Speaker 4: in front of, or talk to Zach Garnett since being
- 42:55Speaker 4: named the defensive coordinator.
- 42:56Speaker 1: I guess that was in January. Steve, Thanks man. We'll
- 42:59Speaker 1: do it again next week.
