Latest / Mom Street USA / 103. Top 10 Disney Resorts for Kids
Transcript
- 0:05Welcome everyone to Mom St. USA.
- 0:07My name is Jackie AKA Wishes Mama.
- 0:09And on today's episode of Mom St. we are talking Disney
- 0:13resorts. So we have been spending a
- 0:15little bit of time kind of hopping around between a lot of
- 0:18the different Orlando theme parks with our content recently.
- 0:22But we're kind of going to bring it back to some Disney focused
- 0:25topics here going forward for the next several episodes that
- 0:28I'm going to be doing. But today we are going to be
- 0:31talking about the top 10 Disney resorts for kids.
- 0:35Now you may hear that title and go, wait a minute, Aren't all of
- 0:40the Disney resorts good for kids?
- 0:42They're Disney resorts. And the answer to that
- 0:44ultimately is yes, right? All of the Disney resorts are
- 0:48good for kids. They were met for families for
- 0:50the most part. There's only maybe a few here
- 0:53and there that are like geared more towards the adults that are
- 0:57visiting the parks. But generally speaking, all of
- 1:00the resorts that you're going to come across that are on Disney
- 1:02property are good for kids. However, some do have more
- 1:07activities or amenities that are geared towards kids.
- 1:12So that being said, these are the kind of research based
- 1:17opinions of us over here at Mom Street.
- 1:21Now, I did also pull our wonderful Mom St. community on
- 1:24our Discord channel. So some of these were on their
- 1:28list as well as mine. So it was fun to kind of hear
- 1:32from some of you about which ones you liked or which ones you
- 1:35thought were good and, and those types of things.
- 1:38And this doesn't mean also that if you're planning to go to a
- 1:42resort that is not on our list, that it won't also have great
- 1:46options, that it won't be a really good choice for you as
- 1:49well. Like I said, every Disney resort
- 1:52is good for kids. It's at Disney, It's meant to be
- 1:55good for families and kids that are that are visiting the park.
- 1:58So for this list, I know it is going to be a top ten.
- 2:01However, they're not really going to be ranked in order.
- 2:05I had a really hard time trying to put them in any sort of
- 2:08order. It's some, so many of them are
- 2:12kind of like comparing apples to oranges when it comes to the
- 2:15resorts, just because Disney does have such a wide variety of
- 2:19resorts that they offer. So these are simply just the 10
- 2:24resorts that we find are good for families with kids in an
- 2:27alphabetical list provided for you to help you start to look
- 2:32into some of these or maybe help you make a decision if you're
- 2:34thinking about a couple different ones for an upcoming
- 2:38trip. So that being said, Disney on
- 2:42Property does have three different levels of resorts and
- 2:45we are going to talk about all three different levels.
- 2:48My my list of 10 here does include resorts from all three
- 2:52levels. So your value level is going to
- 2:56be your basic level, your bottom tier of Disney Resort.
- 3:02So your moderate level is going to be that middle tier kind of
- 3:06your middle amenity offerings and middle of your the price
- 3:10ranges that they offer. And then the last category that
- 3:13they have is the deluxe category and that is going to be your top
- 3:16end resorts, higher budget price point and also more amenities
- 3:21typically speaking for that. So you will hear me mention for
- 3:26each of these which category they fall into and kind of what
- 3:29the price range looks like. Generally speaking for the
- 3:34categories that Disney uses, the value is anywhere up to about
- 3:402:50 to $300. Moderate is going to be in that
- 3:44three to five range and then your deluxe is going to be kind
- 3:47of that five and over. So that's kind of the, the
- 3:50general range that they that they used to categorize those.
- 3:55Now, all of that also being said, when I'm giving you prices
- 4:00in this episode, please, please, please understand that these
- 4:03prices at some of these resorts vary so much depending on time
- 4:10of year, how many people you have in the room, you know,
- 4:14what, what activities are going on?
- 4:15Is there a holiday? Is it, you know, summertime?
- 4:18Is it winter time is, you know, all of those things can
- 4:23definitely affect the price points that you're seeing it at
- 4:26any resort, right? Not just Disney, but especially
- 4:28at the Disney Resort. So these prices that I did, I
- 4:32kind of tried to find maybe a middle ground.
- 4:35So these are like end of April, beginning of May prices as of
- 4:39where they sit right now. Again, if you pull up the Disney
- 4:42website and you put in different dates, you may not see these
- 4:45exact prices, but they're meant to just be a ballpark for you to
- 4:48give you an idea of what budget kind of range you would be in if
- 4:53you were to stay at this resort. So hopefully that all makes
- 4:56sense. Without further ado, let's jump
- 4:59into this list that I've got for you guys today.
- 5:02A couple of different categories within the resorts that we're
- 5:05going to be looking at. I looked at kind of overall
- 5:09theme of the resort. I looked at what room types they
- 5:12have because different families have different needs and
- 5:15different configurations that they might be looking for.
- 5:18I looked at the amenities, so like the pools and the dining
- 5:22primarily. Transportation was a big one
- 5:26that I looked at. And then obviously the budget,
- 5:27just to give you guys a price point for that.
- 5:31Now I will say that I did not take budget into consideration
- 5:36necessarily to pick these, which is why you will find some on the
- 5:40value side and some on the moderate side and some on the
- 5:43deluxe side for this, because I understand that everybody has a
- 5:47different budget that they're working with when it comes to
- 5:49visiting Disney. So I didn't want to say, well,
- 5:52it's best if you stay value because that's what I do.
- 5:55You know, I want to give you guys all of that information to
- 5:57kind of make those decisions for yourself.
- 5:59So those were kind of the different categories for each of
- 6:02the resorts that I looked at when I was kind of making this
- 6:05list for you guys. That being said, I'm not going
- 6:08to go into every single detail about all ten of these resorts.
- 6:11I'm just going to kind of give you an overview to give you kind
- 6:14of a snapshot picture of what the resort has to offer.
- 6:18And then from there, you can reach out to a travel agent.
- 6:22There is a travel agent that we have an affiliation with through
- 6:25our sponsors over at Chip and Co.
- 6:28So head over to their website if you are in need of a travel
- 6:30agent. They've got one that will help
- 6:32you with finding out some of that information if you need
- 6:35help with it. But this is kind of just the
- 6:38first overview of some of these resorts that you could
- 6:41potentially look at. So we're going to start off with
- 6:44a bang because like I said, we're going in alphabetical
- 6:46order here. So we are going to start off
- 6:49with Animal Kingdom Lodge. This is the first resort on our
- 6:52list of 10. It is a deluxe resort.
- 6:55The theming for this one is exactly what it sounds Animal
- 6:59Kingdom. So think lots of African
- 7:02influences. One of the biggest draws of this
- 7:05resort is that you actually have a view of the animals that are
- 7:10residents there at Animal Kingdom.
- 7:13So there is like a Savannah area that is directly up against some
- 7:18of these rooms and you will see if you if you go to book a
- 7:22resort or a room at this resort that some of the rooms have a
- 7:26Savannah view that would be windows that are facing that
- 7:30animal area for Animal Kingdom Lodge, a couple different room
- 7:34types that they have. They have just standard rooms
- 7:37that will sleep for, they have deluxe studios that sleep for
- 7:41and they have villas over there as well that will sleep up to
- 7:4412. So a couple different
- 7:47configurations if you're looking for some rooms that maybe have
- 7:51more of a studio feel with some extra amenities with that if you
- 7:55want, you know, kitchen spaces and things like that.
- 7:58But then they also have more of like a standard room option
- 8:01there as well. As far as amenities go, they've
- 8:05got 2 pools, one that has a water slide.
- 8:09But really the main amenity draw is just having that African feel
- 8:13and being so close to those animals.
- 8:18You know, it's, it's pretty incredible if you're staying
- 8:20there to think about the fact that you could wake up and look
- 8:23out your little balcony area and see a giraffe or a zebra or so
- 8:28many other animals that they've got over there.
- 8:30So that's the real big draw of this resort and why it's so fun
- 8:35for kids is that. But they do have two pools, one
- 8:37that includes a water slide. They've got a ton of really
- 8:39great dining options. So if you have a family that
- 8:43really enjoys eating and trying different things to eat
- 8:46different kinds of food, they've got 9 different options between
- 8:50quick service and table service restaurants.
- 8:54Two of the big ones being Sanaa and Boma.
- 8:57So those are both very, very popular ones.
- 9:00They have a lot of African flavor influences in their food.
- 9:03Boma is a buffet option, which is always really good to have
- 9:07when it comes to kiddos because you never know what they may be
- 9:10hungry for in the moment. One of the only downsides that I
- 9:15could say to this resort is that they only have strictly bus
- 9:18transportation. So you'll hear me today talk
- 9:21about the different transportation options that Walt
- 9:23Disney World, the resorts have. Some of them have better ones
- 9:27than others in my personal opinion, but some people enjoy
- 9:32the buses more than any other options.
- 9:35So you can make that decision for yourself.
- 9:37But if transportation options are a plus for you,
- 9:41unfortunately Animal Kingdom Lodge only has bus
- 9:45transportation for for you at that resort.
- 9:49Now the price point again, on average looking at kind of an
- 9:54average price, you're going to be looking around 600 a night.
- 9:58That's going to change if you're doing a 12 person villa
- 10:01obviously. So that is kind of that average
- 10:04standard room price is going to be around that $600.00 figure a
- 10:08night. Again, the more amenities that
- 10:11you include in your room, the higher the cost is going to go
- 10:14obviously for that. So that's your kind of snapshot
- 10:17of Animal Kingdom Lodge. And now as we move on to our
- 10:22second resort in our list of 10, we're going to do something
- 10:26completely different because we are going to go to the complete
- 10:28opposite end of the budget spectrum.
- 10:32And we're going to hop down to the value resorts for this next
- 10:36one, sticking in our A's because we are going alphabetically here
- 10:40and not in any particular order other than that, we are going to
- 10:43go to the Art of Animation Resort.
- 10:46So this is a value resort, very different feel from what we were
- 10:51just talking about at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
- 10:54This one does have more of that kind of standard value motel
- 10:57feel where you enter from the outside into your rooms.
- 11:00I should mention Animal Kingdom Lodge is more of a standard
- 11:03hotel option where you enter from the inside.
- 11:06So that's kind of one of those bigger differences that you will
- 11:08find between some of the deluxe and moderate and value resorts
- 11:12over at Disney. The theme for art of animation
- 11:16is again, exactly what it sounds like.
- 11:18It is animation, it is art, it is drawing, it is painting,
- 11:21those types of things. So you will see larger than life
- 11:24creations featuring a couple different favorite Disney IP
- 11:30intellectual property movies. So Lion King Cars, Finding Nemo
- 11:35and Little Mermaid all have different sections at this
- 11:38particular resort, they've got two different room types.
- 11:44So they have your standard rooms that are just like your other
- 11:47value resort. So if you're familiar with value
- 11:50resort rooms, their standard rooms are almost identical to
- 11:53the ones you'll find at the other value resorts.
- 11:55And those are your Little Mermaid rooms.
- 11:57So those will sleep for, again, your standard kind of setup for
- 12:02for values. They also have family suites and
- 12:05that is one of the biggest draws, especially for families
- 12:08that need a little bit more space or need a separate bed
- 12:13area bedroom for a little one. The family suites are really,
- 12:18really good for that. So the family suites will sleep
- 12:21up to six. The nice thing about them is
- 12:23that they've got 2 full bathrooms and like I said, they
- 12:25do have like a master bedroom situation that you can close off
- 12:29from the kind of dining and like TV kitchen area as well.
- 12:35So that's a big draw for a lot of people that are a little bit
- 12:38more budget conscious but need a little bit of extra space or
- 12:42want that little bit of extra space for their family.
- 12:45We have stayed at both The Little Mermaid rooms, we've
- 12:50stayed in The Lion King family suites and the Nemo family
- 12:55suites. And I really like Art of
- 12:57animation. It's a really fun resort.
- 12:59It's got a lot of really great theming that is truly like
- 13:03Disney theming because you're going to find these, you know,
- 13:06bright colors and big characters and things like that all across
- 13:09the resort, which is which is super fun.
- 13:12As far as pools go, there are three main pool or three pools
- 13:16across the entire resort. The main pool being the Big Blue
- 13:21pool, which is the Finding Nemo pool.
- 13:23One of the biggest draws to the Big Blue pools.
- 13:26It is a 0 entry pool. So again, if you've got littles
- 13:31that are not quite walking yet but love to sit and splash, this
- 13:34is a fantastic option for you. We just stayed at Art of
- 13:38Animation on my last big family trip that we did and it was with
- 13:44my nieces. And at the time my youngest
- 13:48niece was only about 10 months old and she loved getting to sit
- 13:54at that zero entry spot of the Big Blue pool and just splash
- 13:57and watch the kids run around. It was so great.
- 14:00So having that is is a really, really big perk that not a lot
- 14:04of other pools across property have.
- 14:06A lot of them are just the standard step or ladder options
- 14:09to be able to get into the pool. As far as dining goes, they are
- 14:13a little bit lacking in the fact that they only really have the
- 14:15one quick service location. They do have a pool bar, but
- 14:19again, you're not really going to find a ton of options at a
- 14:22pool bar. It's just going to be mostly a
- 14:23few snacks and and your drinks out there, but one quick service
- 14:27restaurant that they have there. As far as transportation at Art
- 14:31of Animation goes, they do have buses, but they also have the
- 14:34sky liner, which is a really big perk for staying over there as
- 14:37well. A little quicker transportation
- 14:39option to, if you're looking to get from your resort to
- 14:45Hollywood Studios or to Epcot, you can take the sky liner there
- 14:49and then you would do buses to Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom
- 14:53if that was where you were headed for the day.
- 14:56Now as far as your budget goes, this one is a little bit
- 14:58interesting because it is in the value category.
- 15:01However, I definitely think The Little Mermaid rooms are in that
- 15:06value category. The family suites price wise are
- 15:12a little more on the moderate side.
- 15:17So with that in mind, The Little Mermaid rooms you're going to
- 15:22find in that kind of 250 ish range per night.
- 15:26Again, on average, prices can change, it can go up, they can
- 15:30go down, you can find deals, all of that for the family suites,
- 15:35you're going to find that closer to 400 a night.
- 15:38So again, that's a little bit higher.
- 15:44You're going to, it's unfortunate because with that
- 15:48higher price point, you would want more amenities to kind of
- 15:51go along with it, but you're still at a value resort.
- 15:53So that's the only downside is just that price point.
- 15:57The space is great, the the layout is great, having double
- 16:01bathrooms, all of that is great about the family suites.
- 16:03The price point maybe, maybe not depending on your particular
- 16:08family's needs, but that is kind of art of animation in a
- 16:11nutshell. So we're going to hop back over
- 16:13to the deluxe side, kind of going back and forth a little
- 16:18bit here, and we're going to talk about the Beach Club
- 16:21Resort. This is one that several people
- 16:24have suggested either via blogs that I read or on our Discord
- 16:29channel, but the Beach Club Resort is the next one.
- 16:33Obviously the theming is pretty evident with the name Beach Club
- 16:39and it is like I said, 8 Deluxe Resort over in the Epcot area.
- 16:44As far as room types, they have a couple different options.
- 16:48I should also mention that a lot of the deluxe resorts that I'm
- 16:52going to talk about tonight are also DVC locations.
- 16:55So if you're not familiar with DVC, that is the Disney Vacation
- 16:59Club, essentially the timeshare program that Disney runs.
- 17:03So some of these bigger rooms you will find on the DVC side of
- 17:07things, some of them are still available to just your regular
- 17:11average guests, but some of them are DVC spaces as well.
- 17:14So do a little bit of looking and research when it comes to
- 17:17some of these bigger rooms and villas and some of that kind of
- 17:20stuff. But the room types over at Beach
- 17:23Club, they do have standard rooms.
- 17:24Their standard rooms will sleep anywhere from 4:00 to 6:00
- 17:27depending on configuration. They have suites that will sleep
- 17:304 to 8 and and they have villas that will sleep up to 8 people
- 17:33in those amenities. The the pools here are are a
- 17:39little bit different in that the beach club shares a lot of
- 17:44amenities with its sister resort, the Yacht Club, which is
- 17:47directly next door. And then there is the whole like
- 17:50beach Club Villa area is like a separate section of this resort
- 17:55as well. So there are a total of four
- 17:59pools amongst that entire complex.
- 18:02But if you stay at the Beach Club, you have access to all of
- 18:06those. The big draw of this resort and
- 18:11one of the main reasons why it's so good for kids is their main
- 18:16pool area is called Stormalong Bay and it is the sand bottom
- 18:21pool on Disney Resort. So it is the the big draw.
- 18:26It is the infamous reason why a lot of families like to stay at
- 18:30the beach club. It does also have a water slide
- 18:32featured there as well. It is a very, very big deal for
- 18:37kids to be able to go to and just the theming overall, super,
- 18:42super fun. Very, very Beachy.
- 18:45You're going to feel like, you know, you're in Florida, but
- 18:47you're going to feel like you're closer to the coast whenever you
- 18:50stay here. It it is really close to the
- 18:52water that you will find outside of the International Gateway
- 18:56entrance to Epcot because that's where you'll find these, these
- 18:59different resorts that we're going to talk about in that
- 19:01area. This one and the next one
- 19:02actually, as far as dining goes at the Beach Club, you've got 8
- 19:06different dining locations that you can utilize if you're
- 19:09staying there. Some of the highlights over in
- 19:13that area. Cape May Cafe is a character
- 19:15breakfast that is very, very popular.
- 19:18The Beaches and Cream, ice cream shop and ale and Compass, which
- 19:22is more of like a steakhouse feel.
- 19:24Those are all really, really great options over there.
- 19:27You are also in close proximity at the Beach Club to walk to the
- 19:31Yacht Club which has a ton of food options, The Boardwalk that
- 19:34has a ton of food options, and you are right in the heart of
- 19:37getting to Epcot World Showcase if you've got park tickets.
- 19:40So the food here, not lacking in any way, shape or form when it
- 19:45comes to your options and selection for that.
- 19:51The transportation here, you've got bus transportation, You've
- 19:54also got boat transportation. Like I mentioned, you are close
- 19:56to the waterway. I wish I could remember what
- 19:59that waterway is called. I'm sure it has a name of some
- 20:02sort, the one that sits outside there.
- 20:03But you do have some boat transportation to Hollywood
- 20:09Studios, you've got bus transportation and then
- 20:12technically. You are close enough that you
- 20:15could walk to the sky liner if you wanted to hop on the sky
- 20:18liner to take it. It's not officially a sky liner
- 20:22resort according to Disney, but it's definitely close enough
- 20:26that you could walk over to that International Gateway area at
- 20:29Epcot and hop on the sky liner to get to like Hollywood Studios
- 20:34if you chose to from this location.
- 20:37So tons of transportation options here, which is really,
- 20:40really nice. Now, as far as budget goes,
- 20:44again, this may be misleading, but your standard average cost
- 20:50is going to be around 700 a night and that is more for that
- 20:53standard room option. Suites and villas are going to
- 20:57be more and they're going to be more of that kind of DVC point
- 21:01system that you're going to want to look into if you're going
- 21:03that route with especially with the villas.
- 21:06But around 700 a night is where you're looking for or is is what
- 21:10you're going to be looking at when it comes to the Beach Club,
- 21:12Again, that is what puts it in that deluxe category for
- 21:16resorts. So that was #3 #4 on our top 10
- 21:22Disney resorts for kids is just around the corner from where we
- 21:28were. Let's talk about the Boardwalk.
- 21:30So the Boardwalk's theme is the Atlantic City Waterfront.
- 21:35So think about your kind of almost exactly what you think of
- 21:39when you hear of like the Boardwalk.
- 21:42That's what you're you're going to find over there when it comes
- 21:45to the theming of everything. The room types that they have at
- 21:49the Boardwalk, they've got a standard room that'll sleep up
- 21:51to five. They've got deluxe studios that
- 21:53will sleep up to five. And again, they've got those
- 21:55villas that are the DVC locations that will sleep up to
- 21:5812. As far as amenities go, they've
- 22:01got three pools and the main pool being the Luna Park pool,
- 22:06which is carnival themed. It is a 1920s amusement park
- 22:10theme. This is the one that has the
- 22:12infamous or had the infamous clown face in it for the longest
- 22:17time before it got one under a refurb.
- 22:18And they switched up a little bit of the theming over there.
- 22:21But it is a very big draw for kiddos.
- 22:24It is a super well themed area. You know, from the outside, the
- 22:30boardwalk looks a little, a little plain, so to speak,
- 22:33because it's not, you know, you don't find those larger than
- 22:36life characters or things like that that kind of show you what
- 22:39it is. But once you get into the pool
- 22:41area and some of the, you know, more inside areas to it, the
- 22:45theming is really, really well done over here.
- 22:49So the, the pools are definitely a big draw.
- 22:53Dining again, you've got like 10 plus options over here.
- 22:57You've got the boardwalk deli, you've got the the boardwalk
- 23:00pizza window, you've got Trattoria Alforna, which is a
- 23:03really great Italian restaurant and you're within walking
- 23:06distance of Yacht Club and beach club.
- 23:08You're also within walking distance of World Showcase at
- 23:11Epcot. So tons and tons and tons of
- 23:14food options. So between the pools and the
- 23:16food options, that is a really big seller of both the beach
- 23:21club we just talked about and the boardwalk, because you have
- 23:24such great access to so many different things.
- 23:28And this one again, you've got really great access to, you've
- 23:31got boats running as transportation, you've got buses
- 23:34and you're within walking distance of the sky liner.
- 23:37Again, not technically a sky liner resort according to
- 23:40Disney, but very easy for you to just walk to that international
- 23:44gateway sky liner station and hop on and, and head where you
- 23:49need to go. So that is what the Boardwalk
- 23:52has to offer again in that $700.00 a night range for those
- 23:57resorts rooms as well. That is going to be more of your
- 24:00standard side of things. The villas obviously are going
- 24:03to be significantly more because they sleep more people.
- 24:07You know, the bigger the room, the more people you can fit, the
- 24:10higher the price points going to be for that.
- 24:13Cruising right along to #5 we are going to reach our first
- 24:20moderate resort and that first moderate resort that we are
- 24:24going to talk about is Caribbean Beach Resort.
- 24:28This is a very, very popular resort in that moderate category
- 24:33for a lot of families. It is a massive resort.
- 24:38So you really need to do your research if you're looking to
- 24:40stay here to figure out what section you want to try to
- 24:45request whenever you do your reservation because it is a
- 24:49massive resort. Let me say that again, it is a
- 24:53massive resort. So there are 5 distinct island
- 24:58themes in the different sections for this resort.
- 25:01Again, Caribbean Beach gives you a good idea about what those
- 25:04themes are going to be like, but those five distinct islands are
- 25:08Barbados, Jamaica, Martinique, Trinidad, and Aruba.
- 25:12So those are your five locations that you can find when you go to
- 25:17book again, highly, highly, highly suggest that you look at
- 25:22a map of the resort to figure out where you want to be.
- 25:26A lot of people like to request being either close to the pool
- 25:30or they like to request being close to the sky liner hub.
- 25:34So keep those things in mind and we'll talk about the amenities
- 25:37in the pools here in just a second.
- 25:39But you definitely want to take a look and and get a lay of the
- 25:42land before you before you officially book.
- 25:46And when you go to book, make sure you put in those requests
- 25:49that you're trying to get the the correct section so that you
- 25:52have access to the things that you want to have access to.
- 25:55That being said, you're still going to be able to get around.
- 25:57It just might be a little bit longer of a walk to get to, you
- 26:01know, the main building or the sky liner or wherever it is
- 26:04you're trying to get to. As far as room types, they do
- 26:07just offer kind of your more standard room style.
- 26:11They have some rooms that will that also include 1/5 sleeper,
- 26:15so they do sleep up to five in a lot of their standard rooms
- 26:18here. As far as amenities go, they
- 26:21have 6 pools. So I talked to you about people
- 26:25wanting to be close to the pool. Well, they want to be close to
- 26:29that main pool. The main pool has 2 water
- 26:31slides. The theming is really, really
- 26:33great. It's a super fun pool complex
- 26:35for kids. So that is one option of where
- 26:38you want to potentially request if you're looking at different
- 26:42places to, to figure out when it comes to taking a look at that
- 26:46resort map. But you definitely will find a
- 26:50pool nearby because every single island section has their own
- 26:54pool. So definitely going to have
- 26:56access and close access to at least one of the pools at this
- 26:59resort. As far as transportation, I did
- 27:02mention earlier they do have buses obviously, but they are on
- 27:06the sky liner line. So Caribbean Beach is an
- 27:09official sky liner resort. They have their own little hub
- 27:13area for the sky liner, so you can easily get to Hollywood
- 27:18Studios and Epcot with the sky liner from Caribbean Beach.
- 27:23As far as budget goes, like I said, it isn't that moderate
- 27:26category. So you're looking around 3:50 a
- 27:28night. Again, you can find deals that
- 27:31price does range, but around that 350 a night price range is
- 27:35what you're going to be looking at for Caribbean Beach.
- 27:39OK, we have reached the halfway point.
- 27:41Just to recap, so far we've talked about Animal Kingdom
- 27:46Lodge, Art of Animation, The Beach Club, the Boardwalk Inn
- 27:50and Caribbean Beach. So we're going to move on now to
- 27:55number six. So number six on our list of top
- 27:5910 Disney resorts for kids is back into the deluxe category at
- 28:04the Contemporary. This one I feel like is one of
- 28:07those resorts that is on almost everybody's bucket list to an
- 28:11extent just because it was one of the original resorts that was
- 28:15created when Walt Disney World opened.
- 28:18And I think it's just so iconic, right?
- 28:21It's just when you think of Disney resorts, the contemporary
- 28:24is one of those that like immediately comes to mind.
- 28:27So the theming inside of the contemporary has shifted a
- 28:32little bit in in recent years. Within the last, I don't know,
- 28:36maybe 5-6 years, they changed the room themed inside to be
- 28:42incredible themed. So you've got little touches
- 28:45from Mr. and Misses Incredible and, and Violet Dash and all of
- 28:49them inside of the rooms. It's not in your face theming
- 28:55like you would find it. Like we talked about art of
- 28:56animation earlier, having like bright colors and huge statues
- 29:00of characters and all that kind of stuff.
- 29:02This theme is going to be a lot more subtle so, but you will
- 29:06find those nods to the Incredibles as the themed in the
- 29:09rooms. Now in the lobby area, there's
- 29:14not a ton of theming because the lobby itself is set up very in a
- 29:20very interesting way. If you've never been in the
- 29:22contemporary couple notes about it.
- 29:25The monorail goes through the middle of the the the resort of
- 29:28the hotel. So that is part of the reason
- 29:31why it's such an interesting interior when it comes to
- 29:35thinking about the lobby. The lobby area is actually like
- 29:42below where like the main area where people will come to let go
- 29:46shopping or grab food is too. So the way that the floors are
- 29:50situated is interesting because like check in is is below the
- 29:54main, what you would consider like the the recreational lobby
- 29:58area. I guess it's like the third
- 30:00floor in that resort. So that makes it a little bit
- 30:04different and interesting. But so the theming you will find
- 30:08primarily just in those rooms, right?
- 30:11You're not going to see that Incredibles theming bleed into
- 30:14the kind of lobby areas as much at this particular resort.
- 30:19There are a couple different options for room types.
- 30:22They do have standard rooms that will sleep up to five.
- 30:25They have deluxe studios that will sleep up to four and they
- 30:28also again have villa options there that will sleep up to 12.
- 30:32Some of the amenities that are included here, they do have two
- 30:36pools and one of the pools has a water slide.
- 30:39The pools here are a little bit more basic than what we've
- 30:42talked about at some of the other resorts just because it
- 30:45was one of the original resorts that was built when Walt Disney
- 30:49World opened. The main draw here for this
- 30:54resort being so good for kids is straight up the location of
- 30:57Magic Kingdom. It is a quick walk or a monorail
- 31:02loop ride away from being at Magic Kingdom.
- 31:06If you're lucky enough to get the right room at the right
- 31:09angle, you can see fireworks from Magic Kingdom from your
- 31:12rooms if you're, you know, on again, if you're on the correct
- 31:16side of the building and have that view.
- 31:18So those types of things are why this resort is such a good
- 31:21option for kids, especially if you are someone that's got
- 31:25little kids that need a midday break and you're planning on
- 31:29doing primarily Magic Kingdom on your trip.
- 31:32This is your perfect resort for those for that purpose alone.
- 31:37So those couple room options are what they have.
- 31:40Again, they have some different configurations depending on your
- 31:43needs, but some of those are DVC rooms as well, pools.
- 31:49We talked about dining. They have two higher end
- 31:51restaurants and then they also have the Contempo Cafe, which is
- 31:56a very popular quick service. And then they've got Chef
- 31:58Mickey's. Chef Mickey's is one of the
- 32:00character meal options that you have.
- 32:03It is a buffet option where you get to meet Mickey and his
- 32:07friends there. One of the fun things is you
- 32:10can, if you are on the monorail, you can like look down into Chef
- 32:15Mickey's and see the characters wandering around and meeting all
- 32:17their friends. So that's super fun in there.
- 32:21One of the other things that you have here that you don't have at
- 32:24most of the other resorts is you have a viewing area for the
- 32:29electrical water pageant. So if you're unfamiliar with the
- 32:33electric electrical I I always get this name like tongue
- 32:37twisted. So if you are unfamiliar with
- 32:40the electrical water pageant, it is exactly what it sounds like.
- 32:43So it is these small rafts that float around the seven seas
- 32:47Lagoon outside of Magic Kingdom. And they have these like LED
- 32:51light displays on them that are timed to different songs and
- 32:56you'll find like iconic characters and music out there.
- 32:59Very reminiscent of the electrical light parade that
- 33:03used to happen inside of the park.
- 33:05But this one does float around on water.
- 33:08So this is one of the resorts that you have a viewing area
- 33:11for. So that is a super fun little
- 33:13extra that you can plan for if you do decide to stay here.
- 33:17As far as transportation goes, you can find bus transportation
- 33:22and of course, monorail transportation at this resort as
- 33:25well. Transportation at this resort as
- 33:29well. My volume thing over here, there
- 33:32we go. So you have bus and monorail
- 33:36transportation here as well. Do keep in mind there are two
- 33:40different monorail lines that you can take.
- 33:43One will actually stop inside the the contemporary, so you
- 33:50want to make sure that you get on the right one.
- 33:51The one that stops inside the contemporary is the resort
- 33:54monorail and the one that goes through it is the express
- 33:56monorail. So if you just want to go
- 33:58through the contemporary, express monorail is your way to
- 34:00go. But if you want to actually stop
- 34:02there, make sure you get on the resort monorail for that.
- 34:05And then as far as budget goes, budget is around 680 to 700 a
- 34:11night. Again, that's going to vary
- 34:14based on time of year and what type of room you're wanting to
- 34:16stay at, but definitely well into the deluxe side of
- 34:21everything for that one. OK, let's hop back to something
- 34:27completely different than what we've talked about here for our
- 34:30next one. So #7 on our list is back to the
- 34:37moderate category of Disney resorts, and that is the
- 34:40Coronado Springs Resort. This one, I feel like is kind of
- 34:45an underdog when it comes to resorts.
- 34:47Not a lot of people always remember that it exists.
- 34:51It does have a very large portion of the resort area that
- 34:57is for like the conventions that come into town because it does
- 35:00have a Convention Center that is affiliated with it.
- 35:03So that's part of the reason why.
- 35:05But if you can look past that, it's a really great moderate
- 35:09resort option. So the theming and I kind of had
- 35:13a hard time putting into words the theming.
- 35:19So I literally cut and paste it from the Disney website because
- 35:21it was the easiest. Like the way they describe it
- 35:23was was perfect, obviously. So it says celebrate the unique
- 35:27blend of Spanish, Mexican and Southwest American cultures.
- 35:32So that's kind of the vibe that you're going to get whenever you
- 35:35are at Coronado Springs. They have lots of different room
- 35:40type options. And again, some of this is
- 35:42because of their affiliation with some of the conventions
- 35:45that will come into town. They do have standard room
- 35:48options that will seat four people.
- 35:50They have suites that will sleep anywhere from 2:00 to 8:00.
- 35:54So they do have some smaller room options here.
- 35:57They also have some, they have like a separate tower of rooms.
- 36:03I guess so does the contemporary, which we didn't
- 36:05really really talk about here, but they're in their tower.
- 36:09They have standard rooms that again sleep 2 to 4 and that's
- 36:12going to be more of your like business side of things kind of.
- 36:17And then they also have like club level suites in the tower
- 36:19and all those kind of fancy things.
- 36:21A lot of these resorts do too, especially the deluxe ones.
- 36:24You'll find a lot of like, well, they've got club level or if
- 36:26they've got, you know, those, those top tiers.
- 36:28Again, not giving you all of the details about every single one
- 36:31of these resorts, but I am giving you at least a snapshot
- 36:35so that you can go do more looking and research as you
- 36:38might see fit. So lots and lots and lots of
- 36:41different room options here. As far as amenities, they have
- 36:44three pools and their main pool. The theming is really, really
- 36:49great. They've got like a like a Aztec
- 36:53looking kind of pyramid structure on the one end of it.
- 36:57So super, super fun theming. It is a massive pool area that
- 37:01they have for that main pool, but there are three pools in
- 37:04total in the entire complex. As far as dining, they have a
- 37:07ton of dining options at this moderate resort.
- 37:11And again, I think the the conference affiliation and
- 37:15Convention Center affiliation helps them with that, but
- 37:18they've got at least ten options over there of different places
- 37:21that you can get food. Maya Grill is a really popular 1
- 37:26Toledo, which is the steakhouse and they've got the Rick's
- 37:28sports bar. I hear about the the sports bar
- 37:31a lot when people are visiting Disney property and trying to
- 37:34watch like specific games that they want to be able to catch.
- 37:37That's a really good place on property to go if you're looking
- 37:40for a a sports ball game while you're on your Disney vacation.
- 37:45One of the only downsides is that they've only got bus
- 37:46transportation and they've got some.
- 37:50I know of a couple friends who have had issues with their
- 37:53buses. Just long waits.
- 37:54Unfortunately when it comes to. That may or may not be the case
- 37:59for your particular situation, but just know that buses are
- 38:03your only option if you are staying over at at Coronado.
- 38:07As far as the budget goes, you are looking anywhere from about
- 38:13around 400 a night. So definitely firmly in that
- 38:17moderate category. But with the dining options that
- 38:20they have really, really great amenities.
- 38:24Again, the theming is super, super fun.
- 38:29Just a really, really great space for kids and just a
- 38:33really, really nice option with tons of really good dining for a
- 38:37moderate resort. We've got just three more on our
- 38:42list, so we're going to head back over now.
- 38:47We were at Art of Animation very early in this list.
- 38:52We are going to go right across the waterway to its sister
- 38:56resort. Now over to Pop Century.
- 38:59So number 90, I skipped one. Well, it's OK.
- 39:03We'll talk about Pop Century, then we'll go back.
- 39:06I scrolled too far on my list, but so this is technically #8 on
- 39:10our list is Pop Century. The theme for Pop Century, it is
- 39:14a value resort. The theme are the different
- 39:16decades. So you've got a 1950s section, A
- 39:1960s, seventies, 80s, and 90s. So 5 different sections that you
- 39:23have over at Pop Century. All the rooms here are going to
- 39:26be just your standard four person room.
- 39:30For this one, there are three different pools.
- 39:33One is centrally located in the, I believe it's the 70s era that
- 39:39is like the central era where the hippie dippie pool is so
- 39:43super, super fun theming for that.
- 39:45And then you've got two other pools as well.
- 39:48The other thing about this resort is we talked about this
- 39:50with art of animation having kind of larger than life
- 39:53theming. That's what you're going to find
- 39:55here, right? So you're going to find these
- 39:56massive statues of. Not Disney related IP but true
- 40:04theming to the decades. So maybe, maybe not an interest
- 40:08to your children. Like the last time that my
- 40:11family stayed at Pop Century, we were in the 50s section and we
- 40:15had to explain to our children what a jukebox was because that
- 40:19was like the big theme of the 50's.
- 40:25The 50s section that we were in was that.
- 40:29And so we had to like explain to them what that was.
- 40:32So it's super fun. They've got giant yo Yos and
- 40:35Rubik's cubes and guitars and oh gosh, I don't even remember what
- 40:40else they have over there, but tons of really fun, larger than
- 40:44life theming. Not super heavy on the Disney
- 40:48theming. So if that makes a difference to
- 40:50you, keep that in. Keep that in mind as well.
- 40:55They do have, again, three pools, only one quick service
- 40:58option here, kind of food court style, similar to what we saw at
- 41:01Art of Animation. They do also have a pool bar
- 41:03with some snacks and things like that as well.
- 41:06The big draw over here is the affordability and the access to
- 41:10the sky liner, which again is just so much better than having
- 41:14buses only if you ask me having another option and the fact that
- 41:18it is a continually moving option.
- 41:21Super super nice. So you do have a shared sky
- 41:23liner station between Art of Animation and Pop Century, but a
- 41:29really, really great perk of having of staying at these
- 41:32resorts is having access to that sky liner.
- 41:35The pool sections are really, really great.
- 41:37That's the one of the big draws for the kids as well.
- 41:39And the quick service food court at both of these locations.
- 41:43Art of Animation and Pop Century have a ton of really, really
- 41:46kiddo friendly food options. If you've got someone who maybe
- 41:50doesn't want all of those hundreds of options and just
- 41:53needs pizza, Mac and cheese and chicken fingers for your kids.
- 41:56And then you can also find something with some, some good
- 41:59flavor to it, something like a, a, a pop century is a really
- 42:03great option for you. So as far as pop century prices
- 42:08go, you're looking around 200 a night, 250 a night, somewhere in
- 42:16that range. Again, anything under that kind
- 42:20of 303 fifty is what Disney would consider your value kind
- 42:25of category. So they are right in that spot
- 42:28there. You can definitely find good
- 42:31deals for rooms at pop century to get them under 200 a night as
- 42:35well. So again, prices change and vary
- 42:38depending on availability, time of year, all that good stuff
- 42:42holidays. So keep that in mind, but pop
- 42:44Century is definitely one of the more affordable options for your
- 42:48family and kids. The only downside to these is
- 42:52that they only have rooms that sleep for.
- 42:54So if you are someone that needs, you know, 1/5 or 1/6, not
- 43:01really a good option for you as far as those standard rooms go,
- 43:04unless you've got little infants that you can have in like cribs
- 43:07and pack and play. So again, you just really have
- 43:10to know your options and know what it is that you need.
- 43:13And then working with someone like a travel agent can
- 43:15definitely help you out looking at and figuring out all of the
- 43:18different options. So let's hop back to the one
- 43:21that I missed because I went out of order and I scrolled too far
- 43:24on my notes here on my computer. But we're going to talk about
- 43:27the Polynesian. So again, now for something
- 43:30completely different, let's talk about the Polynesian Resort.
- 43:33It is a deluxe resort. It is another one that can be
- 43:36found right near Magic Kingdom on the monorail loop.
- 43:39It was one of the original resorts that you found at Walt
- 43:44Disney World whenever they were first open for the first several
- 43:49years. The theming of this one.
- 43:51I did also copy and paste this one from the Disney website just
- 43:55'cause I thought it was. I thought I liked their
- 43:58description. So it says celebrate the spirit
- 44:00of the South Pacific at this Oasis of tropical palms, lush
- 44:03vegetation and so much more. So really just a fun South
- 44:08Pacific Polynesian feel to the entire resort.
- 44:13The vegetation, the, the theming of all of the resort lobby, the
- 44:18rooms, the pool, the restaurants, like everything is
- 44:22themed from top down, which is really, really fun.
- 44:26This is a super fun resort to just visit even if you're not
- 44:29staying here. My kiddos love, love, love, love
- 44:34visiting the Polynesian to just like wander around and hang out.
- 44:38They just think it's such a fun vibe and such a fun.
- 44:43It's just such a fun place to to be for them.
- 44:48So room types here again, they do have some DVC options, but
- 44:52they've got a standard room that'll sleep up to five.
- 44:54They've got deluxe studios that will sleep 4 to 5.
- 44:58They've got again, those villas that will sleep anywhere from
- 45:005:00 to 9:00. They have the brand new island
- 45:03tower that was just built and just opened within the last year
- 45:07over at the Polynesian. And those are full of studio
- 45:10rooms that only sleep 2. So those are something kind of
- 45:13completely different and brand new to the Polynesian area.
- 45:17And then the other thing that they have that is very, very,
- 45:21very costly. So if budget is not a concern
- 45:25for you, they also have the Polynesian bungalows.
- 45:29These are little tiny cabins that are outside of the main
- 45:34buildings and right in the water on the Magic Kingdom side of the
- 45:40Polynesian resort. So those will sleep up to 8 in
- 45:44those. But again, very, very pricey
- 45:47when it comes to looking at your budget, may or may not be
- 45:51something you can do and there are only a handful of them and
- 45:54they're very hard to get reservations for.
- 45:56But they do have the bungalows over at the Polynesian as
- 45:59another option as well. As far as amenities, again, like
- 46:03I said, everything is themed top down at this resort.
- 46:07They've got 4 pools with the main one having a water slide.
- 46:11You will find that at all the deluxe resorts they're going to
- 46:13have the water slide. The higher tier resort you stay
- 46:16at, the more pool amenities that they're going to have.
- 46:18So keep that in mind. If your kids are big swimmers or
- 46:24you're planning to do a bunch of resort days or swimming every
- 46:28day. If your kiddos are going to want
- 46:30water slides extra, you know, fancy pool areas and splash pads
- 46:36and all that kind of stuff, we really look into what those
- 46:38amenities are because the value resorts do not have water
- 46:42slides. Most of the moderate ones do.
- 46:45So keep that in mind when it comes to that dining over at the
- 46:52Poly. I was actually kind of shocked.
- 46:54I knew they had a ton of options over there, but between every
- 46:59like part of this whole resort, there are 10 options for food.
- 47:03Some of them are smaller like stands or like pool bars or
- 47:07things like that, but there are 10 options over there.
- 47:10Couple of the big names over there.
- 47:12Ohana is probably the one of the most famous restaurants on
- 47:17Disney property. It is a family style restaurant
- 47:21that does a character breakfast with Lilo and Stitch.
- 47:25So that is one of the biggest draws over there.
- 47:28A ton of other places over there that have really good food if
- 47:31you are someone that likes a good themed bar experience.
- 47:37This would not be kid friendly because they do not allow
- 47:40children and after a certain point but Trader Sam's grotto is
- 47:44over there. This is one of the themed bars
- 47:46at Disney World that you can visit and they've got all sorts
- 47:49of fun drinks and the atmosphere inside is completely themed.
- 47:53So again, this resort, you want to talk about being immersed in
- 47:58a different world like the Polynesian is one of those
- 48:01really great places that you can visit for that.
- 48:04So as far as transportation, you've got a ton of different
- 48:06options actually at this resort. So you obviously have buses that
- 48:09you can take 2 places. The monorail does have a stop
- 48:13here. Again, the resort monorail is
- 48:15the one you want to take to make sure that you actually stop at
- 48:18the Polynesian. And then they do have some boat
- 48:21transportation to a Magic Kingdom as well.
- 48:24And there's a boat that you can take that goes kind of between
- 48:28the Monorail 7 Seas Lagoon resorts as well.
- 48:32So different options there depending on what you'd like to
- 48:35do. Now as far as your budget goes,
- 48:39I tried my best to kind of get a mid range because they do have a
- 48:43bunch of different room types. So the mid range number that I
- 48:47found was around 8:50 a night. That's going to vastly change if
- 48:51you're staying in the Island Tower studios or the bungalows.
- 48:55Like I talked about the villas, but you're more standard rooms.
- 48:58That's where that kind of 850 is going to come into play.
- 49:01Again, if you're like Yep, I want to stay there.
- 49:05Mom St. sold me on staying at the Polynesian.
- 49:08Look at your different room options, figure out what
- 49:10configuration you want, and talk to a travel agent is my best
- 49:13advice for that because they are trained to have all of the
- 49:16details about all of the resorts.
- 49:19I don't have all that knowledge. I just know what I've read on
- 49:21the Internet. So be sure to do a little bit of
- 49:24research to figure out that, especially when you're looking
- 49:27at your budget because your budget may drastically change
- 49:30depending on the needs of your room.
- 49:31And that goes for any of the resorts, Polynesian included in
- 49:34that. OK my friends, we have come to
- 49:40number 10 on my list. So let's do a quick recap, shall
- 49:45we? Of numbers one through 9 that we
- 49:48talked about so far on our top 10 Disney Resorts for kids we
- 49:53talked about #1 was Animal Kingdom lodge #2 was Art of
- 49:56animation #3 was Beach club #4 Boardwalk inn #5 Caribbean
- 50:03Beach. Number six was the contemporary
- 50:07#7 was Coronado Springs #8 well, we did these out of order, but
- 50:12#8 on my list is the Polynesian and #9 was Pop Century.
- 50:18So let's talk about #10 last on our list.
- 50:23I'm going to be completely honest and transparent with you.
- 50:26I cheated a little because my last #10 is Port Orleans.
- 50:34And it's it's it's both in one. So the Port Orleans complex for
- 50:38resorts actually has two different resorts in it.
- 50:41There is the French Quarter side and the Riverside side.
- 50:45They are both in my #10 spot because I had a really hard time
- 50:49deciding between the two. They're sister resorts, so they
- 50:52share all of their amenities. So I just put them both as #10
- 50:58So let's talk about the Port Orleans resort area.
- 51:04So obviously Port Orleans French Quarter is 1/2 of that and that
- 51:08is very much the New Orleans French Quarter theming.
- 51:13The Riverside section is more of a, what did they put on the they
- 51:21said, oh. Disney said it is a picturesque
- 51:24setting that evokes the romance of rural Louisiana.
- 51:29So that is the description that Disney gives for the Riverside
- 51:33part of Port Orleans. Just really, really nice
- 51:39resorts. They're both in the moderate
- 51:42category. They both have really, really
- 51:45nice rooms. They both have really, really
- 51:49nicely themed areas within the resort.
- 51:53Not only just the lobbies and the pools, but the rooms
- 51:57themselves and the buildings are all themed.
- 51:59Just such a lovely kind of escape.
- 52:03The thing that I think I like the most about these resorts is
- 52:08that it really does feel like an escape from the hustle and
- 52:13bustle of the parks, right? It's kind of like this little
- 52:16Oasis because it is a little bit separate from the other resorts.
- 52:21These two together, you don't really, you're not super close
- 52:24to any one thing. You've got the Sasagula River
- 52:29that runs along the one side of the property.
- 52:33You've got horse drawn carriages that run through the property.
- 52:35It's just such a different vibe and it's so nice, but they still
- 52:41got a ton of things for kids to do, which is just an amazing
- 52:45bonus to have. So at the French Quarter side of
- 52:50things, they just have standard rooms that will sleep up to 4.
- 52:52Again, you're going to see that the setup of these rooms is very
- 52:55similar to the value resorts, but being that they're
- 52:58moderates, you just everything's a little bit more spaced out,
- 53:02which is really, really nice, especially if you've got bigger
- 53:05kids that maybe just need a little bit more space or even
- 53:09little kids that just need a little bit more space sometimes.
- 53:12That's a really nice perk of of of having this this moderate
- 53:17level of those Disney resorts Over at the Riverside section.
- 53:23They also just have the standard rooms.
- 53:25But the big draw over on that side is they have what they call
- 53:29the royal rooms, which are their Princess themed rooms, which are
- 53:33just absolutely gorgeous inside. I could describe it all to you,
- 53:37but it'll be better if you just do a quick Google search of the
- 53:40Riverside royal rooms just to see what they look like.
- 53:44But they're so pretty inside. If you've got a Princess fan
- 53:50that likes to feel kind of fancy glamorous a little bit, those
- 53:56rooms are right up their alley. So take a look at that if that's
- 54:01something that appeals to your travel party or your kiddos that
- 54:04you're going to be bringing. But again, none of them have any
- 54:07rooms that will sleep more than four or five S Depending on your
- 54:11family configuration may or may not be an option for you.
- 54:15Now as far as the pools go, this is one of the really big draws
- 54:20to staying at this resort is you get access to both resorts pool
- 54:27areas because they are sister resorts.
- 54:31Now typically at Disney, you cannot just resort hop.
- 54:34You can't be staying at Pop Century and go to the Polynesian
- 54:37and use their pool. It's not how it works
- 54:39unfortunately. But at the sister resorts, which
- 54:42there are only a small portion of them.
- 54:45We talked about this with Beach Beach Club and Yacht Club
- 54:48earlier, but this is also true with the Port Orleans Riverside
- 54:52and French Quarter as well. So the French Quarter side has a
- 54:56big pool complex with one of the most famous Disney water slides.
- 55:01It's like a sea serpent water slide.
- 55:04So much fun. They've got a great splash pad
- 55:07area. All of that is on the French
- 55:10Quarter side. On the Riverside side, they've
- 55:13got 5 pools alone on their side because the Riverside section is
- 55:18a lot more spread out and a little bit more spacious, so the
- 55:25different sections all have a smaller pool area that are close
- 55:28to them. So no matter where you stay,
- 55:31you're going to have really close access to a pool.
- 55:33If you want the kind of bigger, more extravagant pool area, head
- 55:38over to French Quarter. If you want a more low key vibe
- 55:42at your pool, any of the pools over on the Riverside side are
- 55:45going to be where you want to go for that.
- 55:48As far as food goes, there is one quick service over at the
- 55:53French Quarter side. But to the French Quarter side
- 55:56is also where you will find your famous Disney beignets.
- 56:00So the Mickey head shaped beignets that you can get are
- 56:04over on the Port Orleans French Quarter side.
- 56:08So you'll want to head over there if that's what you're
- 56:10looking for. And it is where you get those is
- 56:12directly outside of the one entrance to their main food
- 56:16area. Really, really great food over
- 56:18there. Won't surprise you that there's
- 56:20lots of Louisiana inspired flavors over in their their food
- 56:26court area. As far as the Riverside side of
- 56:31things are two quick services over there.
- 56:33So two different options for food over on that side.
- 56:36Again, you're going to find one more main hub for all of their
- 56:40quick service food and then one kind of smaller pool bar type
- 56:44stand over there as well for both of these.
- 56:49As far as transportation, buses are going to be your primary
- 56:52form of transportation to get to the parks.
- 56:55But one of the really fun things that you can do is from either
- 56:59of these locations, you can take a boat to Disney Springs, which
- 57:03is a completely different mode of transportation.
- 57:07But I talked a little bit earlier about the Sasagula River
- 57:10running on the far side of property for both Riverside and
- 57:15for French Quarter. So they have little boat docks
- 57:18that you can hop on the boat to take the boat to Disney Springs.
- 57:21Super, super fun. The we stayed one trip, oh gosh,
- 57:27three years ago almost now at a little over three years ago now
- 57:31at Port Orleans French Quarter and my kids still talk about
- 57:36that boat ride. They just thought it was so much
- 57:38fun to, to sit on that boat because it's, it's a very
- 57:40different feeling. It's not like the big ferry boat
- 57:43that you take it, you know, to get from the, the TTC to Magic
- 57:47Kingdom. It's just a smaller boat that
- 57:50you take down the river and there's lots to look at and the
- 57:53kids like to look for, you know, snakes in the water and the
- 57:56birds and you pass by all some other resorts in the golf
- 58:00courses and things. So lots of, lots of really fun
- 58:02things to see. I love that boat ride for no
- 58:05reason. Then it's just a fun boat ride
- 58:07to to take. So you do have boats there, but
- 58:10again they won't necessarily take you to the parks that, but
- 58:13they will take you to Disney Springs if that's something
- 58:15that's interested that you are interested in.
- 58:18On the budget range, again these are in that moderate category.
- 58:23On the French Quarter side, you're going to find around 337
- 58:27a night. On the Riverside side, you're
- 58:29going to find around 383 a night, very, very close in price
- 58:33from each other. But in that kind of 330 to 380
- 58:38range is where you're going to find the majority of those those
- 58:42rooms over there, which is again right in the low end of that
- 58:46moderate category that Disney likes to use.
- 58:49So that is Port Orleans, French Quarter and Port Orleans
- 58:53Riverside my #10 on my list here, A2 for one, if you will.
- 58:59But because they share amenities and they are sister resorts, I
- 59:02felt like I had to had to talk a little bit about both of them
- 59:05for the end of our list here. So that brings us to the end of
- 59:10our 10 resorts, 10 top 10 Disney resorts for kids.
- 59:15Again, like I mentioned at the beginning of this podcast
- 59:17episode, these are just ones that we found were really great
- 59:22based on the theming and the amenities and the budget and the
- 59:25location that they had. But if you decide to stay at
- 59:29someone or one of these resorts, but if you decide to stay at a
- 59:34resort that is not on this list, you are still going to have an
- 59:36amazing time because Disney is catered towards families.
- 59:39Disney is catered towards kids at their resorts a lot.
- 59:42So no matter where you stay, you're going to have a good
- 59:45experience. These are just 10 that we felt
- 59:47like really kind of go a little bit extra, maybe have one or two
- 59:52extra things that are really, really good for kids.
- 59:56But that's not to say that there aren't, you know, 10 other ones
- 59:59that we could put on the next 10 list and and just keep going
- 1:00:03when it comes to that. That also being said, I didn't
- 1:00:06consider any off property resorts for this list just
- 1:00:10because I was sticking to on property Disney resorts, but
- 1:00:13there are a ton of really great good neighbor and partner
- 1:00:17resorts. That are in the Disney Springs
- 1:00:19area. So if you're like, I don't know
- 1:00:22about some of these, I'd rather just stay it kind of like a
- 1:00:24standard place that we we are used to, you know, we want a
- 1:00:28Marriott or we want a an IHG location.
- 1:00:31There are tons of options around Disney Springs.
- 1:00:33So again, I highly suggest contacting a travel agent.
- 1:00:37If you need help connecting to a travel agent, send me a message.
- 1:00:40I'm happy to help you to some to help guide you to someone who
- 1:00:44can assist you with your trip. But before we wrap up for today,
- 1:00:49I'll do a quick recap again of our one through 10 and then
- 1:00:54we'll talk a little bit about what's coming up next.
- 1:00:56So let's go back down through our list just one more time for
- 1:00:59for for the to put a button on the end of this resort episode.
- 1:01:05We've got animal Kingdom Lodge, art of animation, Beach club,
- 1:01:08Boardwalk Inn, Caribbean beach, contemporary, Coronado Springs,
- 1:01:13Polynesian pop century and the Port Orleans sister resorts
- 1:01:17French Quarter and Riverside. Coming up on our upcoming
- 1:01:22episodes of mom St. USA.
- 1:01:25The next episode that you are going to get, we're going to be
- 1:01:27talking about doing Disney on a budget.
- 1:01:28This is a topic that we talked about a while ago on Mom Street,
- 1:01:33but I felt like maybe we needed a little refresher.
- 1:01:35So doing Disney on a Budget is going to be our next episode,
- 1:01:39which is kind of timely considering we just talked about
- 1:01:41all these resorts and how much they cost and which ones are
- 1:01:44best and what the price ranges are and all that.
- 1:01:46So maybe maybe you are aiming to stay at something like a
- 1:01:51Polynesian when really your budget is currently more of like
- 1:01:55a Orleans. And maybe some of the tips that
- 1:01:59I can tell you will help you save and make up that difference
- 1:02:02there. So that is where we are headed
- 1:02:04next. But for today, thank you all so
