- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Do you ever feel like you're in a lose, lose situation, that
- 0:43whatever you do, it's not going to end well?
- 0:47Adam here. And this hypnosis session is
- 0:49about escaping that learned helplessness, feeling that you
- 0:54can't do anything right to a feeling that you've got nothing
- 0:58to lose. And the client I was working
- 1:00with was in a very, very high-powered, influential
- 1:05position. But because of the politics of
- 1:08the role that they were in, they felt that they their hands were
- 1:11tied, that they were restricted in terms of the level of impact,
- 1:15but also that they were entirely dependent on any kind of
- 1:18progression based on one person and their opinions.
- 1:23And that made them feel that whatever they did was outside of
- 1:27their control. And that felt very
- 1:28disempowering. But when I was working with this
- 1:31client, we looked at it in a different way.
- 1:33That if it is the case that they can't do anything right, then
- 1:37rather than it being a case where they're guaranteed to
- 1:40fail, that can actually be liberating because it now means
- 1:43that they have nothing to lose. And that nothing to to lose
- 1:47attitude is very, very empowering because whatever
- 1:52happens, you can't be worse off. Then you've already.
- 1:55Guessed that you're going to be anyway.
- 1:57And I remember my very first job and it was my very first boss in
- 2:02a radio station. He told me about how he bought a
- 2:06house when he was very young, in his early 20s, and the house
- 2:10doubled in value within a few years.
- 2:12And he told me that that gave him a sense that if anything at
- 2:17all wasn't to his liking, where he worked, he knew that he had
- 2:21about. 3 or 4. Years worth of money to not work
- 2:28if he didn't need to still pay the bills and then find
- 2:31something that worked for him. And it gave him an attitude of
- 2:36not tolerating any crap. What he called a fuck you
- 2:40attitude. And I used that word because
- 2:44it's a motive for a reason. He felt that he could say those
- 2:48words to anyone that disrespected him or didn't value
- 2:52his work. And what was interesting is that
- 2:54when he continued that. Story, he said.
- 2:57And I was 2122 in the at the time when I had this job, he
- 3:01said, guess how many times I've had to actually use that line
- 3:04and, and just kind of quit on the spot.
- 3:07And he said he never had, but the willingness to do it
- 3:10emboldened him. It gave him a level of courage.
- 3:14So it's that idea, that element of energy of feeling that you
- 3:20don't care what other people say or do.
- 3:23You're going to do the thing that aligns with your value
- 3:25system is that energy of having nothing to lose.
- 3:29So this hypnosis session takes that essence and factors into
- 3:34someone that instead of feeling like they were tethered and
- 3:37their hands were tired and they were restricted and restrained
- 3:41at the very end of the session, and I could see it was all over
- 3:44their facial expressions. They felt liberated.
- 3:46They felt that they had permission to do the things that
- 3:50they'd been wanting to do all this time but didn't think they
- 3:52were allowed. And that's a crucial
- 3:55distinction. So I want you to think, where in
- 3:58your life currently do you feel restricted or held back or
- 4:03restrained in some way? And what would it feel like to
- 4:07feel like you have absolutely nothing to lose in that area?
- 4:12And what would be the consequence of acting in
- 4:15accordance with that energy, with that intensity of feeling
- 4:19that you don't really care about other people's opinions?
- 4:23And what tends to happen is that people that really embody that
- 4:27energy, nothing bad happens. Most of the time people see them
- 4:32as being courageous and being almost having the ability to
- 4:40speak truth to power and it's seen as very noble and
- 4:44confident. So actually people end up
- 4:47holding back and becoming a bit of a yes person and just nodding
- 4:51and doing what they're told to do and not really doing what
- 4:54they feel that they can do. And in turn, they're never
- 4:57really appreciated of the talents that nobody sees.
- 5:00O if you can connect with this idea, you might get some real
- 5:03value from this session. And I'd encourage you to find a
- 5:06quiet, comfortable place, the kind of lace where you're not
- 5:08going to be distracted or disturbed.
- 5:11Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 5:40you breathe in, breathe in that feeling of pure relaxation.
- 5:48And as you exhale, feel a sense of release, a release of any
- 5:59expectations, any restrictions, any pressures, breathing in that
- 6:09resourceful feeling of relaxation and exhaling any
- 6:16tension, stress or worries, any uncertainties.
- 6:22Just feel it leaving your body in your outward breath.
- 6:28That's it. Each breath taking you deeper
- 6:36and deeper, relaxed. And the slower you breathe, the
- 6:48deeper you breathe and the deeper you breathe, the more
- 6:54resourceful you feel. And the longer you exhale, the
- 7:02more you release, and the more you release, the more freer you
- 7:11feel like those restraints and limitations and restrictions are
- 7:23just falling off you like your hands were tied.
- 7:31And now those ropes are falling down by your side.
- 7:43And as you breathe in and breathe out, I want you to
- 7:47calculate just how much effort it has taken to hold yourself
- 7:56back. Not physically, but mentally.
- 8:06Think of all of that effort with the monitoring, the self
- 8:12editing, the scenario playing, the calculating of consequences,
- 8:25that quiet tension of wondering how will this be received?
- 8:33Is this enough? And what if you don't need to
- 8:38push that away? I want you to feel that right
- 8:44here, right now, there is nothing that needs to be fixed
- 8:52and no problem that needs to be solved.
- 8:59Just notice how tired that restraint feels.
- 9:11I want you to imagine. Imagine a scenario where you
- 9:16have something to do and you voluntarily, albeit for good
- 9:23reason, impede yourself. How difficult would it be to be
- 9:32a waiter with one hand tied behind your back?
- 9:41And how difficult would it be to be a taxi driver with your eyes
- 9:49closed half of the time? I want you to get a sense then
- 10:00all of this restraint and all of this holding you back may have
- 10:09contributed to a cycle, a self fulfilling prophecy.
- 10:18By holding yourself back, you fall below expectations.
- 10:26Those expectations are then creating communication of
- 10:34frustration. That frustration is perceived as
- 10:41disapproval, so you hold back even more.
- 10:52What if it feels like you're in a no win situation?
- 10:58That whatever you do is never enough.
- 11:01If you speak up, you're crossing a line, and if you don't speak
- 11:08up, you're not doing your job. Feel that conflict.
- 11:17Feel that restraint like a juggler that's handcuffed.
- 11:30And how good would it feel to take those handcuffs off, to
- 11:37release the limiter, to access 100% of your capabilities?
- 11:47So as you breathe again, deeper than before, allow your body to
- 11:53settle, and for the next few moments, there's no need for
- 12:01permission and no need for approval.
- 12:05And you don't need to be careful.
- 12:10Nothing bad happens when you stop holding yourself together.
- 12:21As your body relaxes, your imagination awakens.
- 12:26And I want you to imagine a door, a large door, a closed
- 12:35door. And behind this door is the
- 12:40version of you that's been playing it safe, the version of
- 12:46you that's been holding back, trying to get it right and
- 12:54trying not to get it wrong, trying to preserve something
- 13:00that, if you're really honest, already feels fragile.
- 13:11But what if that strategy hasn't protected you, but in fact just
- 13:18slowed you down? And when you realize this
- 13:24strategy has been impeding you, not helping you, the door
- 13:31unlocks all on its own. You don't have to force it.
- 13:40I want you to get a sense that strategies expire the very
- 13:45moment they stop working. And if you feel that this
- 13:51strategy of playing it safe wasn't working anyway, let me
- 13:59know by nodding your head. That's it.
- 14:08So allow that thought to land like a seed planted deep in your
- 14:16subconscious mind. Not as words, not as
- 14:20affirmations, but as a deep, accepted truth that if holding
- 14:30back hasn't improved your position, then you have nothing
- 14:35left to protect. And what if that creates
- 14:42liberation? That something profound happens
- 14:49when that sea takes root. Because when there's nothing
- 14:54left to protect, then there's nothing left to fear.
- 15:02These no win situations are paralysing, but nothing to lose
- 15:08situations are liberating. They return you to instinct, to
- 15:19decisiveness, to speed, integrity and truth.
- 15:30No longer having to play games or second guessing, and no
- 15:34longer managing perception, instead expressing judgement.
- 15:43And what if that's where influence actually comes from?
- 15:51And what if this unleashes a particular energy within you,
- 15:58immune to what people think and what people say?
- 16:05What if we can refine this? It's not defiance and rage, not
- 16:10rebellion and not carelessness. It's knowing yourself enough
- 16:20that enables you to quietly say fuck you to the status quo.
- 16:32That voice inside you that stops pretending, stops shrinking.
- 16:40Stop second guessing yourself just to stay comfortable and
- 16:43safe. And that fuck you is not
- 16:48directed at anyone. It's annoying within you and in
- 16:56that moment you stop asking will this be OK and start operating
- 17:03from this is what I see, this is what I recommend and this is
- 17:13what I'll own. And just notice how your body
- 17:18responds to that, that position of strength, of certainty, of
- 17:24fearlessness. Suddenly your posture changes,
- 17:32your mannerisms change, the shoulders drop, the chest opens,
- 17:40the breath deepens. Because self trust is not a
- 17:45feeling, it's a decision to back yourself 100%.
- 17:53And what if you allow this identity to form clearly That
- 18:02from this moment on you are someone who acts from authorship
- 18:09and autonomy, not permission. You don't wait to be fully
- 18:14trusted. Your clarity and your integrity
- 18:20creates trust, and you don't need certainty.
- 18:27Your movement generates momentum.
- 18:32You don't protect your future by being careful.
- 18:37You shape it by being fully expressed.
- 18:43And you know, people like this already don't mind ruffling some
- 18:51feathers, speaking their mind, speaking truth to power, doing
- 19:01what needs to be done and saying what needs to be said.
- 19:07And this, this is who you really are.
- 19:15And when you fully unleash that part, you stop holding back.
- 19:23Your thinking sharpens, your timing improves, and your
- 19:29presence strengthens. Because what if the real
- 19:34limitation was never external, but just the belief that playing
- 19:42it safe and being restrained was safety?
- 19:48The belief is gone now for good reason, because it was never
- 19:54true and never useful. But now let's look into the
- 20:03future. Imagine a full length mirror
- 20:06right beside that door. Behind the door was the
- 20:12restrained version of you, but through the mirror.
- 20:18Is the future version of you with that attitude, that fuck
- 20:24you energy, doing what needs to be done and saying what needs to
- 20:31be said? I don't want you to see that
- 20:35future version of you in the very next situation where you
- 20:42would normally hesitate or hold back.
- 20:48See yourself arriving differently.
- 20:52Not louder, not aggressive, but something different.
- 20:59It comes across in your tone of voice, your facial expressions,
- 21:04your body language. It's an element of an edge.
- 21:11You speak sooner, you recommend clearly, you move with
- 21:17decisiveness, urgency, and notice the difference in how
- 21:23people respond. Not because you demand
- 21:27influence, but because you embody conviction.
- 21:37And deep down you know that no matter how this game plays out,
- 21:45and even if this path that you're on ends, it ends with
- 21:51you, with your integrity intact. No regret, no self betrayal, no
- 22:02wondering what if. And that's the real freedom.
- 22:09That's what means you have nothing to lose.
- 22:13It either works out or it doesn't, but you got to be you,
- 22:22unfiltered and unrestrained. And as you see that future
- 22:34version of you in that mirror, see where it takes you.
- 22:42Some doors may close, but many more will open.
- 22:47Other people will notice how you move, how you operate, your
- 23:00observations, your solutions. And as you see that future
- 23:08version of you, you realize that you don't need this to work in
- 23:13order to trust yourself, that you can trust yourself already
- 23:23and act in accordance with that trust.
- 23:25And what if that's the edge? What if that's the liberation?
- 23:33What if that's the calm, unshakable, unrestrained version
- 23:41of you with nothing to lose and nothing to prove?
- 23:48You don't need validation. You validate yourself.
- 23:53You are fully unleashed. And if your unconscious mind is
- 24:01ready to activate this version of you and leave behind that
- 24:08restrained version of you second guessing and holding back, let
- 24:12me know by nodding your head and very soon I will count from 1:00
- 24:18to 10:00. But it will be this new version
- 24:22of you that awakens. The old version of you can
- 24:26remain behind that door. Not imprisoned, just not
- 24:32required right now. Take a deep breath in through
- 24:38your nose and out through your nose.
- 24:43Wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes.
- 24:46Connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I now count
- 24:52from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 24:54Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8.
- 25:03Open your eyes. Open your eyes 910 Wide awake,
- 25:09Wide awake. Wide awake.
