- 0:00Speaker 1: I am Sherry Mackie. It's time for us to go
- 0:02Speaker 1: to God in prayer, and as always I ask that
- 0:06Speaker 1: you join along with me in prayer. You know, I
- 0:10Speaker 1: think about all the time we call ourselves Christians. Yes,
- 0:13Speaker 1: I'm a Christian and we like to brag about it.
- 0:16Speaker 1: But when we say that we are Christian, we're saying
- 0:19Speaker 1: that we are christ like and are we really loving
- 0:23Speaker 1: like He loves? I'm constantly prayer. God, search my heart.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Teach me how to love like you, Teach me how
- 0:29Speaker 1: to live like you. Heavenly Father, we come before you,
- 0:33Speaker 1: humbled by your words, your words that say a new commandment.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I give to you that you love one another justice
- 0:40Speaker 1: I have loved you. Lord. That kind of love is
- 0:43Speaker 1: higher than our human understanding. It is patient when we
- 0:47Speaker 1: want to react. It's forgiving when we want to hold
- 0:49Speaker 1: a grudge. It's merciful when we feel justified in our anger.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Yet you call us to it, not by our own strengths,
- 0:58Speaker 1: but through your grace. So Father, we first ask for forgiveness.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Forgive us for the times we mishandled your people, when
- 1:08Speaker 1: our words cut instead of healed, when our silence wounded
- 1:12Speaker 1: instead of protecting, when our pride spoke louder than compassion.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Forgive us for loving conditionally, for choosing comfort over obedience,
- 1:21Speaker 1: and for failing to see others through your eyes. Lord,
- 1:25Speaker 1: we confess that sometimes we've judged too quickly. Sometimes we've
- 1:29Speaker 1: assumed the worst, and we've forgotten how much grace you've
- 1:32Speaker 1: shown to us. God, we've held on to a fence.
- 1:35Speaker 1: We've replayed hurt over and over again in our minds,
- 1:39Speaker 1: in our hearts, and even out of our mouths, and
- 1:41Speaker 1: we've allowed bitterness to take root in our hearts. Today, God,
- 1:45Speaker 1: we lay those things at your feet. Clans Us. God,
- 1:48Speaker 1: heal us, renew our hearts. Jesus, teach us to love
- 1:52Speaker 1: like you loved, with humility, with sacrificing, with truth. God,
- 1:56Speaker 1: you loved us when we were broken, You loved us
- 1:59Speaker 1: when we were undeserving. You loved us all the way
- 2:03Speaker 1: to the cross. Help us to reflect that same love
- 2:06Speaker 1: in our homes, in our churches, in our communities, and
- 2:09Speaker 1: even towards those who have hurt us. Father, give us
- 2:12Speaker 1: grace when emotions run high, mercy when relationships feel straight,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and wisdom when we don't know what to say or
- 2:20Speaker 1: how to respond. Let our love be guided by your spirit,
- 2:23Speaker 1: not our feelings. Help us to speak with gentleness, to
- 2:26Speaker 1: listen with understanding, and to forgive as freely as you've
- 2:29Speaker 1: forgiven us. Lord. Where relationships are fractured, you bring healing
- 2:34Speaker 1: where trust has been broken. God, you bring restoration where
- 2:37Speaker 1: love has grown cold, God rekindling with your divine fire. God,
- 2:42Speaker 1: let the way we love be the evidence that we
- 2:45Speaker 1: belong to you. We don't want to just quote your commandments.
- 2:48Speaker 1: We want to live it. Shape our hearts until love
- 2:51Speaker 1: becomes our first response, not our last result. God, Let
- 2:55Speaker 1: our lives declare that we are your disciples, not by
- 2:58Speaker 1: our words alone, but by the way we love one another,
- 3:02Speaker 1: entreat one another. Thank you, Father, God, for loving us
- 3:05Speaker 1: perfectly and patiently. Thank you for never giving up on us. God,
- 3:09Speaker 1: we receive your grace today, and we choose to extend
- 3:12Speaker 1: that same grace to everybody else around us. In Jesus'
- 3:17Speaker 1: mighty name, we pray, Amen, Amen, Amen,
