Every site a standard four-night Luxor–Aswan cruise visits — Karnak, Luxor Temple, the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Philae and the Unfinished Obelisk — costs EGP 4,060 on the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' own tariff: about US$78 per person at the Central Bank of Egypt's rate of roughly 52 to the dollar. Against the cheapest published four-night cruise fare of US$725 a head, the temples are about 11% of what you pay. There is no hidden pile of ticket money: a Nile cruise is a hotel that moves.
