- 5:09Speaker 1: Aren't you.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Secretary of the Navy, John Phalen, friend of mine, great guy.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Very successful person.
- 5:15Speaker 3: By the way, our new Chairman of the Joint Chiefs
- 5:18Speaker 3: of Staff, Dan raising Kine, whereas here he is. I
- 5:23Speaker 3: talked about him my speeches for years. Who knew I
- 5:25Speaker 3: was going to be appointing him to be the top.
- 5:28Speaker 3: And it's an honor, it's a real honor.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Everything you did with me was perfect. I said, what
- 5:33Speaker 1: happened to that guy raising Kine?
- 5:34Speaker 3: I want him, and that's what happened. And so you're
- 5:38Speaker 3: going to do a great job. I have no doubt
- 5:39Speaker 3: about it. Thanks Dan, Acting Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral
- 5:44Speaker 3: James Kilby, Admiral, thank you, congratulations. And Superintendent of the
- 5:50Speaker 3: Naval Academy, Vice Admiral Yvette David's.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Hello, how are you a vet?
- 6:00Speaker 3: But I especially want to thank and congratulate athletic director
- 6:04Speaker 3: chet glad Chuck, who will soon retire after twenty four
- 6:08Speaker 3: I looked at him, I said, this is a young
- 6:09Speaker 3: looking guy. I don't like this retirement stuff. But after
- 6:12Speaker 3: twenty four years and he's going to do other things,
- 6:15Speaker 3: I guarantee you that will also be incredible. But it's
- 6:19Speaker 3: going to be very hard to top what he's done
- 6:22Speaker 3: as athletic directors. He's had the honor of four national championships,
- 6:27Speaker 3: two hundred and fifty one conference titles, and three hundred
- 6:31Speaker 3: and fifty two All American athletes.
- 6:33Speaker 1: That's not bad. Where are you? Where are you? That
- 6:37Speaker 1: is not bad?
- 6:45Speaker 3: So you had all of these All American athletes, any
- 6:48Speaker 3: name athlete that really stands out?
- 6:50Speaker 1: Or were they just all great athletes? Everyone?
- 6:54Speaker 3: As far as you're concerned, they're all the same. Great
- 6:57Speaker 3: job you've done. What a record that is? Who has
- 6:59Speaker 3: a record like that? I also want to thank some
- 7:02Speaker 3: of the newly appointed members of the Naval Academy's Board
- 7:05Speaker 3: of Visitors. Sean Spicer is here and Walt nota Now,
- 7:10Speaker 3: Walt could be uh. You know, he's thinking about going
- 7:13Speaker 3: to Guam someday and he'll be taken over as governor,
- 7:16Speaker 3: but we won't mention that right now. Walt, well, we
- 7:19Speaker 3: have these fantasy. He's been with me for a long
- 7:22Speaker 3: time and he's great. And Shawn wish on Spicer. Sean, congratulations.
- 7:26Speaker 3: This is It's a great honor. I can tell you
- 7:29Speaker 3: every a lot of people wanted that position. So you
- 7:32Speaker 3: guys are going to do it well, I have no
- 7:33Speaker 3: doubt about it. The story of this incredible season began
- 7:38Speaker 3: last February when the Navy football team entered the weight
- 7:41Speaker 3: room for the winter workouts. I wish I could have
- 7:44Speaker 3: joined you, but I just never was I was never
- 7:47Speaker 3: too much into lifting weights.
- 7:48Speaker 1: I should have I should have done it. I could
- 7:51Speaker 1: have been president someday.
- 7:52Speaker 5: I did.
- 7:54Speaker 3: After four disappointing seasons. It was so disappointed. Your coach,
- 7:58Speaker 3: Brian Newberry plays mastered pictures of this magnificent trophy on
- 8:03Speaker 3: every wall to remind you of the ultimate Prize. And
- 8:07Speaker 3: in twenty twenty four you lived up to Coach Newbery's
- 8:10Speaker 3: vision and you showed the world the midshipmen and that
- 8:13Speaker 3: you know how to fight, fight, fight and win, win win, right.
- 8:16Speaker 1: And that's what you did. That's what you did. That's
- 8:19Speaker 1: a wow.
- 8:21Speaker 3: That's good.
- 8:23Speaker 1: How much is that way?
- 8:24Speaker 3: I don't know if I'm supposed to carry that. I
- 8:26Speaker 3: don't think it can be done. I hear it's quite heavy. Actually,
- 8:30Speaker 3: you won ten of thirteen games, including nine by double digits.
- 8:34Speaker 1: You beat air Force.
- 8:35Speaker 3: You beat Army, and now there's one hundred and seventy
- 8:39Speaker 3: pound trophy.
- 8:39Speaker 1: That's what it is. Is yours once again.
- 8:42Speaker 3: And I have to tell you you had some brilliant
- 8:45Speaker 3: players on offense. You were led by an incredible fullback
- 8:49Speaker 3: team co captain Daba Fofana.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Where is Daba? Where are you?
- 9:00Speaker 5: So he hard?
- 9:06Speaker 1: Coach?
- 9:06Speaker 5: Is he a hard guy?
- 9:08Speaker 1: Could I tackle him? Running post? You don't suggest you
- 9:13Speaker 1: want to say something.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I'm just gonna say.
- 9:23Speaker 5: We couldn't have done it without Brian Newberry here, my
- 9:26Speaker 5: co captain here, Colin Ramos, and just everyone buying into
- 9:29Speaker 5: the mission.
- 9:30Speaker 2: And I'm excited.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Uh, Praise the Lord.
- 9:40Speaker 3: That's Uh, great player. Huh, that's great, Thank you very much.
- 9:44Speaker 3: It's really beautiful.
- 9:46Speaker 1: We have on offense.
- 9:48Speaker 3: We have a quarterback who is also very very special.
- 9:52Speaker 1: I hear he's great, Blake Horvath. Blake. Where are you, Blake?
- 9:56Speaker 1: Where you're from?
- 9:57Speaker 3: Up?
- 10:01Speaker 1: You said? Both strong and accurate?
- 10:06Speaker 5: Please, oh, appreciate it said, No, it's it's an honor
- 10:10Speaker 5: right to share this stage with President Trump. And you
- 10:12Speaker 5: know I speak for the team when I say that,
- 10:14Speaker 5: So thank you for having us. And you know it's
- 10:16Speaker 5: all about the team trophy is a team team team,
- 10:18Speaker 5: So you know, great honor.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Thank you, sir.
- 10:20Speaker 4: Are you beinging?
- 10:20Speaker 1: You back or are you sir? I'll be back next year.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I'm going to be watching. I hear you fantastic. Thank
- 10:30Speaker 1: you very much, Blake. We're going to be watching.
- 10:34Speaker 3: This year, Blake tied the school record for touchdown passes
- 10:37Speaker 3: in a single season, rushed for more than one two
- 10:40Speaker 3: hundred yards.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Wow, that's pretty good, and set a new school.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Record for the longest rushing touchdown when he faked the
- 10:47Speaker 3: handoff during a read option, carrying the ball ninety five
- 10:51Speaker 3: yards into the end zone to help eat Oklahoma. That's
- 10:55Speaker 3: a serious team. We're not playing games here. Wow, is
- 11:00Speaker 3: a pretty good runner. Is he fast? That's amazing When
- 11:04Speaker 3: ninety five yards.
- 11:05Speaker 1: For a quarterback, I'd say that's pretty good.
- 11:07Speaker 3: But because of your team work, the Midshipman had the
- 11:10Speaker 3: sixth best rushing offense and the number one red zone
- 11:14Speaker 3: touchdown offense. That's a big deal in all of college football.
- 11:18Speaker 3: A truly amazing achievement. But to succeed you have to
- 11:22Speaker 3: excel on both sides of the ball, and the Midshipman
- 11:25Speaker 3: had the number four ranked red zone defense, led by
- 11:29Speaker 3: one of the best tacklers in college football, linebacker and
- 11:32Speaker 3: defensive captain, Colin Raymons.
- 11:43Speaker 5: Say a couple, It's an absolute honor to be here.
- 11:46Speaker 1: It was an amazing season.
- 11:48Speaker 5: I'm so proud of these guys, and thank you Preston
- 11:50Speaker 5: Trump for having us really at honor.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Thank you. You're a tough guy to do that.
- 11:55Speaker 3: You gotta be tough.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Graduation. That's really good, right.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Opposing teams feared your secondary, especially the first ever mid
- 12:08Speaker 3: chipman with two pick sixes in a single game.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Come back. It was a big comeback to Sean Peel.
- 12:28Speaker 5: Yeah, you're just very grateful to be here.
- 12:43Speaker 3: It's called the strong silent type ride. Thank you very much, Sha,
- 12:48Speaker 3: and no one can forget contributions of the All Star
- 12:51Speaker 3: Safety Special Teams Player of the Year, and I guess
- 12:55Speaker 3: an NFL prospect a number of them are Ray Lane.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Ray. Yeah. I just want to say it's an honor
- 13:08Speaker 1: to be here. Thank you for the support.
- 13:10Speaker 2: You know, go Navy beat Army.
- 13:19Speaker 3: In December, I was honored to personally attend the one
- 13:23Speaker 3: hundred and twenty fifth Army Navy game in a battle
- 13:26Speaker 3: that would be one of the one of the best
- 13:29Speaker 3: ever between the schools, that really went down to the
- 13:32Speaker 3: history books. Coach, after you held the lead all game,
- 13:36Speaker 3: the fourth quarter, Army offense prepared to tie it up.
- 13:40Speaker 1: They were getting right down there.
- 13:42Speaker 3: I was there to watch, and you showed something that
- 13:45Speaker 3: was amazing. You showed a very brilliant game time, coach, IQ,
- 13:49Speaker 3: I guess you'd call that.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Huh. Were you happy with the end?
- 13:52Speaker 3: Yes, you were very happy. We did you think you
- 13:55Speaker 3: were going to win the game at that point? Okay,
- 13:57Speaker 3: it's gotta say that, but it was. It was pretty amazing. Actually,
- 14:00Speaker 3: you faked the fourth down punt and gave the ball
- 14:04Speaker 3: to the six foot tall two hundred and eighty five
- 14:07Speaker 3: pound noseguard Landon Robinson, who found the seam and rumbled
- 14:12Speaker 3: twenty nine yards down the field to clinch the victory
- 14:15Speaker 3: and to beat Army. Okay, where are you now?
- 14:19Speaker 5: Where?
- 14:24Speaker 1: Wow? I wouldn't want to tackle.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Him like you, sir.
- 14:29Speaker 2: First off, I just tried to say thank you, mister
- 14:31Speaker 2: President for inviting us. Super thankful. I wouldn't be here
- 14:34Speaker 2: without my teammates, you know, without my coaches, for you know,
- 14:36Speaker 2: calling the play and making sure that it was open
- 14:39Speaker 2: for us to run it. So super thankful and excited
- 14:41Speaker 2: for years ago.
- 14:42Speaker 1: So great job.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Got'd be a hard guy to jack, I wouldn't it.
- 14:52Speaker 1: It's painful. It's called painful. Great job. With the win,
- 14:57Speaker 1: this trophy you secure.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Your spot is one of the greatest teams in Navy
- 15:01Speaker 3: football history.
- 15:02Speaker 1: That's a tremendous honor. You've had some great teams.
- 15:06Speaker 3: As President, I've no higher honor than serving as the
- 15:09Speaker 3: Commander in chief of the America's Armed Forces. And I
- 15:14Speaker 3: have to tell you that I've gotten to know so
- 15:17Speaker 3: many of the people at the academy, not only football players,
- 15:20Speaker 3: just people generally. Roger Starbuck is a friend of mine
- 15:25Speaker 3: and a great person played golf with him, and the
- 15:28Speaker 3: last shot last time I played with him, he hit
- 15:31Speaker 3: a shot looked like we were in trouble, and he
- 15:34Speaker 3: came out from behind a tree from about one hundred
- 15:37Speaker 3: and thirty yards away. He had no shot to the
- 15:39Speaker 3: green and it ended up about six inches from the hole.
- 15:41Speaker 3: I said, well, that's Roger Starbuck, you right, that's him.
- 15:45Speaker 3: He was great. I'll tell you what he played. He
- 15:47Speaker 3: was hit, dropped back and he was just he was
- 15:51Speaker 3: in a different league. He was really amazing. What a player,
- 15:54Speaker 3: What a player, What a great guy he is. But
- 15:57Speaker 3: he loves your place. Since I took the the oath
- 16:00Speaker 3: of office, the spirit of our military is sure to
- 16:03Speaker 3: new heights.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Today.
- 16:04Speaker 3: I'm proud to announce that in February, the US Navy
- 16:08Speaker 3: had its best recruiting numbers since twenty two that's a
- 16:11Speaker 3: long time ago, and under my administration, the Navy is
- 16:15Speaker 3: on track to have the best recruiting year since the
- 16:18Speaker 3: start of the war and the War on Terror.
- 16:22Speaker 1: But going back further than that, probably twenty five to
- 16:25Speaker 1: thirty years. So I can say this strongly.
- 16:29Speaker 3: About seven months ago, Pete, they were having numbers that
- 16:34Speaker 3: were a disaster, and over the last two months, two
- 16:39Speaker 3: and a half months, the numbers have gone through the roof.
- 16:42Speaker 3: So it's great, Michael, same thing, and the numbers went
- 16:47Speaker 3: through the roof. And it's also true with all of
- 16:51Speaker 3: the armed forces, and it's true with our police, with
- 16:54Speaker 3: our fireman. There's a lot of spirit right now in
- 16:56Speaker 3: the country that we didn't have six months ago.
- 16:59Speaker 1: So that's an honor.
- 17:00Speaker 3: But you have your highest recruiting numbers in about twenty years,
- 17:04Speaker 3: and that's fantastic. That's pretty good, Shohn. When you hear that, right,
- 17:08Speaker 3: pretty good. You can be proud. Within this amazing group
- 17:11Speaker 3: of young men are twenty three seniors who will graduate
- 17:14Speaker 3: next month, including thirteen Navy ensigns and ten Marine Corps
- 17:18Speaker 3: second lieutenants. Over the past four years, they've grown morally, mentally,
- 17:22Speaker 3: and physically in preparation for their service to our nation.
- 17:26Speaker 3: They're not just great football players, and you can see
- 17:29Speaker 3: this that they are just amazing people. They're true American
- 17:32Speaker 3: warriors and future submarine captains and fighter pilots and Marine
- 17:36Speaker 3: infantry and Navy seals. And we have the I shouldn't
- 17:42Speaker 3: say this too loud because some people aren't thrilled, but
- 17:44Speaker 3: I'm thrilled. We have the largest budget we've ever had.
- 17:48Speaker 3: We're buying gorgeous new ships, gorgeous new and John, you're
- 17:52Speaker 3: going to be working on that. He's a great John
- 17:54Speaker 3: Phalan's a great businessman, one of the best. And you're
- 17:58Speaker 3: going to get that job done to make them beautiful
- 18:00Speaker 3: looking ships too.
- 18:01Speaker 1: The look is very important to me. John.
- 18:04Speaker 3: You know a lot of times they'll show me a
- 18:06Speaker 3: ship or a plane and they I say, that doesn't
- 18:09Speaker 3: look good.
- 18:09Speaker 1: They say, well, it's stealth.
- 18:11Speaker 3: I said, I don't care if it's stealth or not.
- 18:13Speaker 3: We're gonna change.
- 18:14Speaker 1: It if we have to.
- 18:15Speaker 3: I'm not sure I believe so much in the stealth thing,
- 18:18Speaker 3: but we want the most beautiful equipment, the best equipment.
- 18:21Speaker 3: That's what we're gonna get. And you're gonna lead the way.
- 18:23Speaker 3: And I'll help you too, because I like doing that stuff.
- 18:25Speaker 3: And we're gonna get a lot of ships, a lot
- 18:27Speaker 3: of planes then for all of the armed services.
- 18:30Speaker 1: So I appreciate it.
- 18:31Speaker 3: John, do a job, and I just say to Uh,
- 18:34Speaker 3: the general behind me, your commitment is something very special.
- 18:39Speaker 3: And as long as I'm Commander in chief, the United
- 18:41Speaker 3: States will always have the strongest fiercest and most powerful
- 18:44Speaker 3: navy on the sea. And again we're gonna restock it
- 18:48Speaker 3: like it hasn't been restocked before.
- 18:50Speaker 1: We're gonna have a trillion dollar budget. Think of it.
- 18:53Speaker 1: You know, it's like crazy, it's crazy, but.
- 18:56Speaker 3: More than anybody else by double and we're gonna being
- 19:00Speaker 3: a league. I rebuilt, I rebuilt our owned forces in
- 19:04Speaker 3: my first term. Got I'm almost entirely rebuilt. Then we
- 19:08Speaker 3: had a catastrophe known as Biden, and then in Afghanistan
- 19:12Speaker 3: he gave so much of the equipment away, but still
- 19:15Speaker 3: it was only a small fraction of what we had done.
- 19:18Speaker 3: And we're restocking it now and we're going to have
- 19:22Speaker 3: something that nobody's ever had before. So I'm counting on
- 19:24Speaker 3: all of you people in the front to get out there.
- 19:27Speaker 3: And we've got to get the best equipment in the world.
- 19:29Speaker 3: And we you know, we're going to pay the price,
- 19:31Speaker 3: but we're going to get the best equipment in the world.
- 19:33Speaker 3: We have to have it. Lots of ammunition too. We
- 19:36Speaker 3: get a little low on ammunition. I came into office
- 19:39Speaker 3: and they said first time, they said, so we're very
- 19:41Speaker 3: low on ammunition. I said, don't say that to the enemy.
- 19:44Speaker 3: I don't want the enemy to hear that. I came
- 19:46Speaker 3: in this time and they said, sir, you're low on ammunition.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Again. We gave a lot of it away, you know that,
- 19:51Speaker 1: but we have to keep a lot of it. We
- 19:53Speaker 1: have to keep it for ourselves also.
- 19:54Speaker 3: So we're going to work together and we're going to
- 19:56Speaker 3: do something great, Pete, and you're going to do a
- 19:58Speaker 3: fantastic job doing the you're already doing. You've made a
- 20:01Speaker 3: big impact. So I'd like to now introduce a very
- 20:04Speaker 3: special man, a great coach. You would rate him great,
- 20:07Speaker 3: great good or great good boy. I'd let you say
- 20:10Speaker 3: that would be Would I be in trouble if you
- 20:13Speaker 3: said anything? But there's nothing much you can say because
- 20:16Speaker 3: we see his records. So coach, could you say a
- 20:18Speaker 3: couple of words please, Brian.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Good afternoon, Thank you, mister President, and many thanks to
- 20:34Speaker 4: your staff for taking care of us today and hurting
- 20:36Speaker 4: us around the building.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Appreciate that.
- 20:39Speaker 4: And many thanks to everyone to hear in attendance to
- 20:43Speaker 4: honor these specially young men here today. We're humbled and
- 20:46Speaker 4: grateful to be here. The highest honor and the most
- 20:50Speaker 4: important tangible goal in our program is to be standing
- 20:53Speaker 4: here in the White House with our commander in Chief
- 20:57Speaker 4: and all of you here today representing the United States
- 21:02Speaker 4: Naval Academy, the entire brigade of midshipmen, and all the
- 21:05Speaker 4: men and women serving in our Navy, in our Marine Corps,
- 21:09Speaker 4: both past and present. The young men here on the
- 21:12Speaker 4: stage and some of them out here in the audience
- 21:15Speaker 4: are some of the best, in the brightest that our
- 21:17Speaker 4: country has to offer. And a little over a month,
- 21:20Speaker 4: these twenty three seniors, these incredible young men standing behind me,
- 21:24Speaker 4: will graduate and commission his officers the United States Navy
- 21:27Speaker 4: and Marine Corps under your command, mister President, and they
- 21:31Speaker 4: will do so with tremendous character and the core values
