- 0:19Glory podcast. We're Back Hunters are Perdicki, Austin Rose, Dakota Free Tag,
- 0:25getting close to wrapping up season five podcast, Dak's first year of the
- 0:33podcast. Austin, it's been five years. I have really no way.
- 0:40Oh yeah, we started the old Scott Frost. Yeah, you're right rough
- 0:45days. You were so overwhelmed by the reaction to Game one of the Frost
- 0:50era. You're like, I have to start a podcast. Yeah, that's
- 0:54that's really what it was. I needed to get all my thoughts out.
- 0:57Then luckily we got rid of it when we did, because it was about
- 1:02ready to get me losing interest, But nope, we got rule. We
- 1:04had to bring on Dak because we needed some life is a party? What
- 1:11grade would you give me? Eight month? Oh yeah, yeah, that's
- 1:15what I mean. All your all your great takes of Nebraska football and basketball,
- 1:25and I think if we go back and listen to the first couple episodes
- 1:30this season, I think we're almost successful in converting him to a full Husker
- 1:36fan. At this point, he is very informed. I can't see your
- 1:42statement. The other night, I had a couple of drinks to me and
- 1:45I did admit I'm a Husker fan. But that's that's not my real talk
- 1:49right there. Dude, You know what they say, drunk you is just
- 1:53the honest to you. I don't know about Dak. He drunk Dak is
- 1:57just another human. Believe it at that. Well, since the last time
- 2:07we've talked, I think the biggest thing we got to talk about, guys,
- 2:14most important is our boy Case Tominaga. He's not done yet or wasn't
- 2:22done yet. Maybe he is now three point champion in Division one college basketball
- 2:30and beat the girl from Indiana. It was a It was a cool I
- 2:38mean, you know, as cool as a three point shooting contest before a
- 2:44final four that your team's not in and there's really not anyone you carry that
- 2:47wins. I mean, it's cool. It was nice that he won on
- 2:51the last bucket, but he kind of cut it close. No, they
- 2:54should have do an NBA style and had the full money racks or you can
- 2:58put it where you want it, no money. Come on, n c
- 3:00A, what are we doing that? That takes some nuts? Did that
- 3:05when you turn around after a three because if you miss your clown forever like
- 3:08a fool? Well he did. He did it on the fourth rack.
- 3:14And and did the same thing, but nobody really noticed that or remembers that,
- 3:16because he did it again on the last rack and grilled it. It
- 3:22was fun. Good for him, he did it. We won something.
- 3:25He's applying for. What was he applying for? Some sort of He's trying
- 3:31to get his an additional waiver, but I don't remember what his excuse was.
- 3:36They just need to give him one for that foreign language barrier. I'm
- 3:39pretty sure I think that's where we go. You guys, thank you for
- 3:44all those tips I gave him. Yeah, you're you guys are both lefties.
- 3:49It's probably where he got the form. Yep uh. I did already
- 3:54buy a Japan Comanauga Jersey or the upcoming Olympics they're in. It's gonna be
- 4:03able to last late July early August. The Olympics are around, gonna be
- 4:09the biggest japan fan. It'll be tough if they get matched up with the
- 4:13USA. I don't know. They're not in ours. I know that,
- 4:17but a state will be playing and they did qualify last fall. So go
- 4:25Japan twenty four Summer Olympics. Let's see. Okay, do you guys think
- 4:33Tomlin is any shot in the NBA. I think with the with the NBA
- 4:36is played a day, I think he does. No. I wish you
- 4:45were right, but he off the bench. It's not it's not even that
- 4:50he's like a liability on defense. He just like wouldn't be a defender out
- 4:54there compared to those guys at all. Like you want to talk about how
- 4:59st Curry and some of those smaller guards get exposed defensively. I mean,
- 5:02he's take out another four or five inches off of that. I mean it's
- 5:08it's tough. Yeah, no way, Yeah, I can't even imagine him
- 5:19even remotely being in the NBA. They didn't draw, So I got the
- 5:26pools here, Japan, Germany and France our group B perfect see in the
- 5:30finals. So Germany won the Feeble World Cup or lost the Feeble World Cup
- 5:35Championship, I don't remember. But Germany's good and France has got wemby take
- 5:42it to them. They're getting Germany is too big, France is too big.
- 5:51All we want to see. We got Case, we got ruly Achimura,
- 5:59We got some pieces there on Japan's team. One other piece. Gosh,
- 6:05what was that other guy's name? He was supposed to be good in
- 6:10the NBA, and then he did want one want to not be you got
- 6:16me? I don't know anybody else. Those are the only three I got
- 6:20you. Ton All right off of Japan and real quick, what I thought
- 6:30about something? So Francis Gobet and Wimby. Yeah, oh good god.
- 6:35No one's gonna score on that team. You're putting a future on him.
- 6:39Yeah, well, no one is gonna score. I believe Joel Embiid could
- 6:43have played for them, but he chose to play for the us A.
- 6:45It could have been a Wemby man that would have been. That would have
- 6:49been quite the front court. Dak's throwing his money on that tonight. We
- 6:54all know it. That is a lock. Uh. Moving on transfer portal
- 7:01basketball, A lot has gone on since the end of the year. A
- 7:10lot of guys have left, but not necessarily guys that have played too many
- 7:14minutes. Dak accurately called out the CJ. Wilcher leaving and Juan Gary staying
- 7:24and masked. While he hasn't come out and said anything is staying. Bryce
- 7:28Williams with Gary posted a social media video announcing they're staying. What a world
- 7:33we've come to where you have to announce to the public that you are staying
- 7:39at the school or right, you're not transferring. It wasn't even like we're
- 7:42interested. We're not transferring. Uh. Blaze Kada who played two years ago
- 7:47didn't play this year. He's gone, JaMarcus Lawrence maybe a bit of surprise,
- 7:53he's gone. A tar Joke who played some minutes at posts for is
- 7:59very limited. He's gone. Romel Lloyd who didn't really play it all,
- 8:05gone, Bookie Coleman. No, he graduated, m gone, he's not
- 8:11coming back. And Dak's case they coming back. I haven't talked to him
- 8:16recently, but last I heard no, okay, I mean me know,
- 8:20but I haven't. I haven't heard hit you up. And then we got
- 8:26a guy forget his name already from North Dakota State that assigned a forward for
- 8:31man. Uh looks like he can. He's more of a banger type physical
- 8:39dude. But I think we'll fit in well into Hoyburg's offense. And then
- 8:43a couple of guys that we are I'm gonna lookout for hopefully get transfer in.
- 8:50But what what Austin, what are your thoughts on the portals so far?
- 8:54I know there's been a lot of reaction to what's gone on with Nebraska
- 8:58basketball. Marcus Lawrence and Ramel Lloyd are really the only two names that you're
- 9:01like, I kind of like to see them stick around. Not necessarily because
- 9:05Lloyd's production, but you kind of he was one of the higher touted recruits
- 9:09last year. We don't we never really got to see it. And then
- 9:11obviously JaMarcus Lawrence actually contributed on the court and it was really important at times
- 9:18for our offense, and you know, losing case, you worry about how
- 9:22you're going to replace that offense. We just need a point guard. You
- 9:26really just need a good point guard out of the portal. So I'm hoping
- 9:28we pull like a true point guard out of the portal as opposed. I
- 9:33mean, we're gonna get plenty of big men. I know, Frank Fiddler,
- 9:39what's the guy out of you? Freaky Fiddler? Ye Middler, great
- 9:43name come here. That would be kind of cool. But yeah, a
- 9:46point guard would be great. But I would say to that, I'm not
- 9:50too upset about any of the departures, Dak. Any reason to be nervous.
- 9:56If you're a Husker basketball fan like you are, No, you Freddy,
- 10:07you need Freddy Fieldler do you think there's any shot of Chuckie Heppern coming
- 10:09here? No, I don't think so anymore. I think that was hopeful,
- 10:13but I don't think so. You get Jamian McCollum from Oklahoma, they've
- 10:18lost their three best players. Yeah, the players as good as our Romel
- 10:28Lloyd. No, honestly let him go. See you Well, Okay,
- 10:35you bring up an interesting point and Dac didn't even know he was saying this.
- 10:39But with the transfer portal now, I think the initial reaction for a
- 10:46lot of Husker fans is what is going on? You look at a ROSSI
- 10:50from last year. You see god transfer transfer, transfer, graduate, graduate
- 10:54graduate. We got seven guys, and I think there's panic of what's happened.
- 11:00But I think what Dak just said a lot of schools, it's happening
- 11:05to them too, and it's not a product or result of anything that's going
- 11:09on in Nebraska basketball. Obviously, we are at an all time high for
- 11:15momentum this year, coming off of this year's tournament birth, so oh,
- 11:22schools like Oklahoma, other Power five schools, guys are going to just enter
- 11:26the portal and see what they can get from an nil deal and what schools
- 11:31are they're attracted to, and I think Nebraska is very attractive for a lot
- 11:35of these transfers. And so to that point, I honestly think you can
- 11:41flip it and look at these guys that have left. We didn't lose any
- 11:46starters. Really, JaMarcus Lawrence and Wilship probably had a good chance to start
- 11:50next year if they would have stayed around. But honestly, we're probably targeting
- 11:56guys and they know that Hoiberg and staff are going to be able to target
- 12:00and potentially get guys that are a better quality than what they are, especially
- 12:07some of those lower guys like that. They're probably looking at it and going,
- 12:09all right, we're really not going to play next year. This program
- 12:13is on the rise. We didn't play this year, and the portal's so
- 12:16wild, like we're probably going to get passed that by the next guy that
- 12:20comes into And not to mention, what's Hoyberg been known for his entire time
- 12:24he's coaching in college has been the transfer portal, and we seem to have
- 12:28a brand new team every single year at Nebraska. So I think it's a
- 12:33positive, honestly, instead of a negative or a panic mode that a lot
- 12:37of Husker fans are going into and Austin. To your point, I think
- 12:41you've hit on and what we need a point guard I think is very very
- 12:46high. You know, Aaron Yulis may or may not get approved to play
- 12:50this upcoming year. And I think the other piece that two pieces that we
- 12:56need. We need a new knockdown shooter mm hmm. We spent so many
- 13:01years without that. We finally had Case and then I mean wiltshair was pretty
- 13:07dan close to that as well. And then we need another banger for man
- 13:13like Alt that just goes gets a bunch of rebounds. There's a lot of
- 13:16the hustle work on the defensive vent and I think that guy from North Dakota
- 13:20State might be one that could fill that piece there. But I think that's
- 13:22what the staff is targeting and looking at. Here. While it's very early
- 13:28in the portal, it seems like we're off to a decent start. Yeah,
- 13:33feel good. I mean I had the perfect I have the perfect guy
- 13:37for you, Avila from Indiana State. I'd take him prem Amduel. Every
- 13:46the fan base would love him. And he's actual pretty good. He actually
- 13:50is pretty good. Yeah, you maybe could even start over with mast Dak.
- 13:54Another guy similar to that that I saw, uh visited here. I
- 14:00think it was this week. Is that guy from Rutgers Remember the Goggley guy?
- 14:05Oh yeah, he visited. He's a wasn't he like a five star
- 14:09crew? Yeah? Shoot the ship out of it? Well? So was
- 14:15what's what's the guy you had goggles a couple of years ago? Brighten Bach?
- 14:20Yes, it wasn't he like a four stars? Was making ease?
- 14:22Yeah? Yeah? So yeah. I think overall up to a decent start.
- 14:28It's fun to have momentum going into a basketball offseason that we have this
- 14:33year. Got feeling right now or better or worse the next year. I'm
- 14:43gonna go back to my old football beliefs. We gotta I gotta prove they
- 14:48gotta prove it that they're going to be better. I don't think. I
- 14:52hope we don't take a fall off from this year, but I don't think
- 14:56we're gonna be a top five Big ten team going into next year projected.
- 15:01I don't think that's going to be the case. I think higher than thirteen
- 15:05or twelve, the higher than thirteen will probably be around that nine eight,
- 15:09nine ten mark. I think so. I think expectations are probably gonna be
- 15:13right around there, which you want to look at it that way, would
- 15:16be worse than this year as far as finishing in the Big Ten. But
- 15:20I think the team has the momentum and the pieces to be able to do
- 15:22it. It's up to the staff and in the program here to build upon
- 15:26what we accomplished this year. I think you're ranked you ranked thirty fourth and
- 15:33Andy Kat's way too early rankings there. We go got to get in that
- 15:39top twenty five like our baseball team did. Baseball team crack top twenty five.
- 15:45I've watched a few games this year. I watched this in a barn
- 15:50burner with Kansas last night and lost that with a fun game to watch it.
- 15:56There's a lot of runs, but team's doing well. I think our
- 16:00strength to schedule and our RPIs very much up there with the rest of the
- 16:03country, and we have to keep winning Big ten games and stay, you
- 16:08know, one of the top two or three teams I think in the Big
- 16:11Ten to hopefully get into the postseason tournament and maybe even host of regional I
- 16:17saw a couple of like early bracketology things for the baseball team. I'm sitting
- 16:21the top in that top sixteen hosted a regional, which would be kind of
- 16:25cool. That would be cool. It'd be cooler to make the World Series
- 16:30someday, So yeah, someday, Dak, how'se ou baseball? Give us
- 16:36a quick synopsis? They beat Nebraska, they did, that's my recap.
- 16:42That was game one or two of the year. What's happened since then?
- 16:47Don't know, as you have no idea. I don't really pay attention to
- 16:51college baseball, to be honest, I don't at all tell tell the regionals.
- 16:55I like, I like when it gets to that, but I don't.
- 16:56Yeah, oh, fake atention of that game one minus one and a
- 17:02half lost that? Yep, you did, I remember you texted me on
- 17:06that. Before we get away from basketball. Overall tournament thoughts, I just
- 17:11want to hear what you guys thought of the tournament, yukon taking care of
- 17:15business again and taking down Purdue, and feel free to throw some women's talk
- 17:19in there. Yeah, Ultimately, if Purdue would have won, I would
- 17:23have said that we should have been the national title champions because we beat Purdue
- 17:27and we should Ultimately, I think it was pretty good. I felt the
- 17:33games like there wasn't a ton of blowouts after the first after the second round,
- 17:40it it was actually pretty tight. The final four teams I think were
- 17:42the right teams. It was nice to have a bunch of number one seeds
- 17:45in there actually competing. And I really liked the size how it was just
- 17:49a bunch of big guys just bashing up against each other. I thought that
- 17:52was a lot of fun. I loved it. Yep, I'm really glad
- 17:56that Caitlin Clark lost. Although I respect her talent, I still hate Iowa
- 18:02and I'm glad that they lost. In true Husker fan fashion, right there
- 18:07a man god against her. Yes, I was watching that Yukon game when
- 18:15they did that. Then they called that spell on the screen. I just
- 18:17couldn't believe it. I was like, oh God. Anyways, but yeah,
- 18:25it was a good tournament. I thought the championship it would have been
- 18:26nice if it was a closer game. But you come to the better team
- 18:30with the better coach. Zach Edie was awesome. Yeah, I didn't realize
- 18:38because I was watching the game at a at a bar, but didn't realize
- 18:44he had thirty seven and what at fifteen or whatever was like I didn't but
- 18:48then they still got their ass kicked. I kept seeing the stat that Purdue
- 18:52was not even attempting three point shots, let alone making them. And I
- 18:57wasn't watching close enough to really see what Yukon was doing defensively, but clearly
- 19:03they had the right game plan to take it to Purdue. I would say
- 19:08it was more of they were able. They felt comfortable just putting one one
- 19:12b one versus e Edie with klingon, and so they just and they're they're
- 19:17really good defensively when you kind of saying whether you're comfortable and let them score
- 19:19thirty seven, But I mean that thirty seven clearly still wasn't enough. So
- 19:25they basically just clamped down on the three point shots, which is what Produce
- 19:27lived and died by this year for the most part. So but they weren't
- 19:32shooting them, and they because they just they didn't get any space. Yeah,
- 19:38I mean, yeah, you're right. Think about why Purdue got space.
- 19:42It all was because of Edie. I mean that usually got double teams
- 19:47or there would be a weird rotation, you know, kink when the ball
- 19:52would flow through them and they kind of have to stop and think about double
- 19:53teaming. And then they usually opened up a guy and there's like, no
- 19:57Klingon's gonna try to lock the guy down. And I mean, think about
- 20:02how Nebraska garden we in Northwestern I guess two teams that did beat Purdue earlier
- 20:07in the year, like we just full out on the catch had to double
- 20:11immediately because we didn't have a guy like cleaning inside to potentially guard one one.
- 20:15And again it's not like he did a phenomenal job. Heed he still
- 20:18scored, but by over doubling and doing that it also worked. So I
- 20:26was anticipating maybe some of that from Yukon, but they actually want the opposite
- 20:30and said, nope, Edie, do what you want. We're gonna make
- 20:33you take tough shots the whole night. You're gonna make some, but we're
- 20:36not giving the booth the looks. They they only double team Edie, I
- 20:41think two or three times mm hmm. And and when they got they got
- 20:45cleaning and foul trouble early, and I was like, well, this could
- 20:48really hurt him. But that guy, I don't know what his name is,
- 20:49off the bench, he came and held his own too, So that's
- 20:53what the difference was. Yeah, over overall, I guess on the tournament,
- 21:00I've heard a lot of people complaining that it wasn't as an exciting tournament.
- 21:04There weren't as many upsets. You were Cinderella's I guess. I mean
- 21:11compared to prior years. We've been spoiled in prior years with a lot of
- 21:17this and all the one, two and three seats advanced. This year,
- 21:22there were a couple of upsets. It was neat seeing Oakland basically get coach
- 21:26cal pushed out to see. Yeah, so it was. It was.
- 21:33It was a good tournament, another good March Madness. It was a lot
- 21:37more fun this year with Nebraska, and that's all I got to say leading
- 21:40up to it. It just made made it that much more entertaining for us,
- 21:45not even from a picking standpoint, but just that we were in the
- 21:48tournament. We got to participate this year, we did any excitement and what
- 21:52if and how are we seated? And oh and not that this is really
- 21:59relevant, but shout out to the Indiana State and Seaton Hall is that who
- 22:06play yet who played for the n i T the n i T tournament.
- 22:10And we're only speaking to this because Nebraska is usually more around that level of
- 22:15play like usually when these teams that get snubbed, they come out and just
- 22:19lay eggs in the n i T because they're pissed and they don't want to
- 22:22be there, or you're like Oklahoma and just deny to even play in it,
- 22:26which is dumb. Okay, okay. So it was neat to see
- 22:30two teams that still came out with fire under themselves and take take it all
- 22:34the way to the end and have a good competit. It was a fun
- 22:37competitive championship in it game as well. Defend your sooners for declining the n
- 22:44I T please deact please, Well, I was happy. I didn't want
- 22:48to watch them anymore. I I do think it was a pussy move declining
- 22:53go play. Hey man, I think they knew. I think they already
- 22:59know. The players that left thirty kind of told them before that they were
- 23:02leaving, so they probably didn't want to. They probably gonna play either way,
- 23:06and without those three they might not score a point. So I don't
- 23:11want to watch them anymore. But women's championship game between Iowa and South Carolina
- 23:19had more viewers for the first time ever than the men's. It was one
- 23:25of the highest rated sporting events or viewership outside of football, and I can't
- 23:33remember there was one other thing, but that obviously is because of Caitlin Clark
- 23:38and not just her, but what South Carolina was able to do with their
- 23:42team. Juju from USC who made it to the final four, Angel Reese
- 23:48from LSU, a lot of just names and from Stanford pages, yes,
- 23:56Buchers. All of these names and players have made women's college basketball something that
- 24:03America wants to watch. I mean I for that semi final game. I
- 24:07was on a work trip in South Carolina and at a random country club sports
- 24:15restaurant slash bar, and that place was like going nuts for Caitlin Clark against
- 24:21LSU on that Monday night, like it was. It was crazy. And
- 24:23there's there's no Iowa fans there at all. So it's pretty amazing and neat
- 24:29to see what they've done for women's sports. Here's my question for you guys.
- 24:37Will it sustain? No? I haven't heard anyone talking about how excited
- 24:45they are to watch women's basketball next year. How about that? Juji Watkins
- 24:51would have to be would have to be the one that carries it. I
- 24:56don't think it'll be as as mostly hyped up, but I think it'll sustain
- 25:03a little bit. It will sustain a little bit, like it's not going
- 25:06to return back to what it was, but it's definitely dipping back down.
- 25:11And and that's women's college basketball now. Will it just follow Caitlyn Clark to
- 25:15the WNBA. No, No one's watching w NBA games, and she won't
- 25:19do as well in the w NBA. I feel very confident about that.
- 25:23For the first three games, yes, and then talk to talk to everyone
- 25:26watching it. After that, no one cares about a fourteen team league that
- 25:33I don't know when is their championship? Isn't it in October? They starting?
- 25:40They Yeah, they starts, it's later, it's later. Really like
- 25:45they draft in a week and then they start in a month or something like
- 25:48that until you get drafted next week. Yeah, they're the WNBA drafts in
- 25:53the next week or two. Yeah. Wow, and then they start I
- 25:57think May sixteenth. Yeah. I'm with you, guys, because you hear
- 26:04a lot about the women's sports right now and the push for it, the
- 26:11evolution of it. Obviously a lot of the Title nine conversation and equal pay
- 26:15and all of that that's been around for the last several years. In several
- 26:19different sports. I do think this obviously is helping everything, and I do
- 26:27think with WNBA, like salaries are going to have to get raised and there's
- 26:32going to just be a little more attention on it for a little while.
- 26:34But I also think, like you said, Austin, I don't know that
- 26:37Caitlin Clark's going to go in and she won't be able to do what she
- 26:41did in college to these grown women in the WNBA, and it'll be neat
- 26:49to see her play against that. And you know what, maybe I'll be
- 26:53wrong, maybe we're wrong, maybe she will just surprise everyone at that level.
- 27:00But I do think it's gonna fade off slowly. But I do think
- 27:04where it ends up again is higher than where I was. So I could
- 27:10be wrong because I could be undervaluing young like I watched the Final four game
- 27:15with Maddy's cousins who are the oldest one being twelve or thirteen, and then
- 27:21a ten year old boy who is just absolutely like all in, like he
- 27:26knew all the players on Iowa's team, all the players on Yukon's team,
- 27:30like he was invested. So I could be wrong. It could carry more
- 27:33than I thought. I bet the first game, first w NBA game that
- 27:41can't Clark plays will be the most watched ever. Oh that's sports. Yeah,
- 27:45I agree by a mile it will. And the impact that she has
- 27:51had on the youth all the way down to I mean kindergarteners to where they
- 27:56can remember, like it's going to be lasting. Well, there's a couple
- 28:00of girls, like even on our high school team that that just idolize her
- 28:04and and want to be her when they get older. So I do think
- 28:11they'll there will be that long standing effect that she has on girls. But
- 28:18actually, yeah, like you said, guys too, and just the greatness
- 28:22that we witnessed with the player like that in a league and just completely dominating.
- 28:27So not the greatest. I'm going to throw it out there. I
- 28:30have to have a championship, have to have one. That's another big debate.
- 28:37Yep. But is she I was gonna say she, for the sport
- 28:45of women's basketball, the most impactful of all the most impactful. Yeah,
- 28:49yes, by a mile. She's like I think Steph's the most impactful player
- 28:57of all time in the NBA, I think she's on that same level.
- 29:02Well, I'd say Michael's definitely more impactful than Steph, but I could.
- 29:06I definitely, yeah, Steph's up there, like Steph's not cracking my probably
- 29:11top five of greatest NBA players of all time, but if you talk about
- 29:15most impactfullys top three, I probably agree with that. I put yeah,
- 29:22I definitely agree with that statement. I mean, what Caitlin did for women's
- 29:26basketball, Tiger for golf. I mean just similar type of hype and attention
- 29:33to it. So it is Master's Week. So while we got some time,
- 29:38we got to talk about Masters. I also wanted to get to some
- 29:42spring practice Husker football. There's been a lot of news and stuff out there,
- 29:48but we will be doing that. I'm here in the next couple of
- 29:49weeks as we get closer to the spring game on April twenty seventh. There's
- 29:55been a lot of good discussion quarterback battle going on between the three guys and
- 30:00Lincoln, so we will get to that here in our next episode. But
- 30:03we gotta talk Masters to his Master's Week. It's one of my favorite weeks.
- 30:11I love it. It's great, and there's been golf. I don't
- 30:15golf, but it always makes me be like, you know, maybe it's
- 30:17just gonna happen. Give me a quick twenty seconds of how your guys golf
- 30:22game is right now? Oh boy? Uh, and I could do a
- 30:29whole eighteen. You know it's only need one word awful. Yeah, it's
- 30:37pretty bad. Mine's awful. I don't golf regularly. It's basically just bachelor
- 30:41parties and scrambles, so it's uh, it's not well practiced. But every
- 30:45time the master will around is like, you know, maybe this is the
- 30:47year. Hit the range a couple of times, maybe go to a couple
- 30:49of classes. Never happens. But here's all I gotta say to any youngesals
- 31:00out there, if you haven't taken up golf, do it because it gets
- 31:06your way in a lot of opportunities. I think from a business standpoint,
- 31:11I'm finding that out. Like I've gotten something a couple of troops just because
- 31:14I golf, and it's been a good way to I guess network. And
- 31:19it's it's no joke when they say business meetings or discussions, We're gonna call
- 31:23them meetings, but like that's what people do. You get you go golf
- 31:27and you drink a couple of beers and you have fun while doing it.
- 31:33So I haven't been out much this year but I did get to play a
- 31:37course in South Carolina which is pretty neat, and did get to talk to
- 31:42Max Homa, which is pretty awesome. Okay, his wife is the hottest
- 31:47girl in the world, as the Part three contest. Yeah, wow,
- 31:53Dak, I think you think a lot of the wives of the golfers are
- 31:56the hottest women in the world. You haven't seen it, Well, they're
- 32:00stinking pots. Yes. Oh, here's here's one thing about the Masters.
- 32:06I might be the only person in world to say this. Now a favorite
- 32:07major British Open. Why. I just love the way they I love the
- 32:15link style courses like that. Why does that mean feel like you can plan
- 32:19because you don't hit it straight? Yes, and the ball rolls out so
- 32:22far I feel like I could actually play good there. No, don't even
- 32:25say that like I could. And plus is on nine am the final.
- 32:30It's awesome. Wake up watching done by noon, Dak. You gotta get
- 32:35the ball in the air for your ball to be able to roll and get
- 32:38it. I'm not golfing with anybody until I hit the range and figure out
- 32:40my swing. Who's gonna do that for you? I'm going myself because I
- 32:45don't want to be around people. So Masters twenty twenty four, Tiger is
- 32:53back in the field. Hopefully he's able to play the full four days and
- 33:00make make the cut on on Friday, Ny, your guys' favorites, sleepers,
- 33:09who you like? So if we're going based off, so let me
- 33:14read off the odds. Here. You got Scotty Scheffler clear front runner.
- 33:17Does anyone here think he's not gonna win it? Yeah? Okay, yeah,
- 33:23it Like Scotty is by far the safest person to pick to just play
- 33:31well. Like Scotty's making the cut, I thinks it odds to make the
- 33:35cutter like minus thirty five hundred, like he's going to win and yeah plus
- 33:42three twenty five that's like unheard of from winning a golf thurt. So,
- 33:46like, whether you think he's gonna win or not, Scotty is going to
- 33:50play well, and like he is the favorite and should be. And his
- 33:53putting is kind of coming around, which has been the thing that he's really
- 33:57sucked at. But his ball striking, he hits the ball off the tee.
- 34:00It's been like unbelievable the past couple of years. I read an article
- 34:07that compared him to Shack. He can basically do everything but free throws,
- 34:10and once he figures out those free throws, he would have been unstoppably never
- 34:14did that's his puddy. Can't put Dak. Who do you like to win
- 34:21it? Yeah? Just in general? Oh, my sleeper is Tiger at
- 34:28the odds. You got to put money on him at what is he plus
- 34:30forty five thousand or something? Oh, trust me, I already have Guys,
- 34:35there's not a shot that Tiger is winning the Skultar finishing it. He
- 34:40can that you can't. Yeah, well, Dak, I will clip it
- 34:45because I'm the one that puts this together. But he's not winning it.
- 34:49There's there's no shot. He knows his course like the back of his dying.
- 34:52I think he's got a little If he can stay good physically, I
- 34:57think he's got shot. That's the Fortunately, there's forty fifty other guys that
- 35:02also know this course like the back of their hand too, people who I'm
- 35:07excited. I'm excited for Jordan's speith. I think he's gonna win it.
- 35:13He always does really freaking well, and like like he just can't. He'll
- 35:17close major gaps, but he just can't get over the hump side that you're
- 35:21a pick Dak yep. Jordan Spieth is yep. I thought Tiger was he's
- 35:28my sleeper. Oh he's your sleeper, Austin, Who do you got?
- 35:32So? I probably I have skyt Scheffler winning it. I he just can't
- 35:37sleeper. I'm probably going tony now, Okay, I don't mind it.
- 35:45I here, guys, here showing you all my notes. Here, this
- 35:47is what I've been doing. So I listened to a lot of guys.
- 35:52I love Masters Week. I'm telling you, I've listened to like five or
- 35:54six podcasts, all the research and then it usually doesn't do anything for me
- 35:59betting wise, but soak it all in. Then I wore my own opinions
- 36:02based on what I've heard. So uh, and I guess what yours are
- 36:07gonna be sure, I'm gonna guess your favorite to win. You have John
- 36:15Ram running it back, and your sleeper is not even a sleeper. I
- 36:24actually I have Xander, Guys, I have Xander winning it. I he
- 36:30hasn't been talked about a whole lot by some of these podcasts. I think,
- 36:34I mean for his odds, I think you get a good price on
- 36:36him. Not much love for rom and Rory Scotti, as we talked about,
- 36:40clearly the favorite. I do like Adeci this week. I think he'll
- 36:45play well. You can't really count him as a sleeper. He's that's probably
- 36:49fair to high up there. A couple of guys I guess pull him sleepers
- 36:52on my book. Here, Cam Young, I think he's gonna go under
- 36:57the radar. He hasn't been playing well this year, he blew up last
- 37:00year. But I think he's gonna play well, potentially a top twenty.
- 37:06And then I like him. I like him a lot. He's playing well
- 37:12right now, even a guy that's played played this course a lot. The
- 37:16guy that I really like down here that I think is going to be in
- 37:21the hunt and I'm hoping for Shane Lowry, and he has not putted very
- 37:28well recently either, but I think he can get hot with the putter and
- 37:34his ball striking has been really, really solid. And a lot of these
- 37:37guys that win this tournament, their games are just an all around very good
- 37:43shape and you have to do everything well above average. You can't have one
- 37:47part of your game that's not working. So a couple of names there excited
- 37:53for tomorrow Best Thursday. One of the best Thursdays between this and March madness
- 37:58of the year. I think it's real wimpy. If anyone puts money on
- 38:00sky Scheffler, that's like putting money on oh, I don't even know who.
- 38:07I would say, not paying much. It's wimpy. Go go putting
- 38:12money on someone else. All right, we'll be back next couple of weeks.
- 38:20Husker football talk returns. Go back Red, You are raw, Go Tigert
