- 0:03Speaker 1: Because it's time for the movie threat.
- 0:29Speaker 2: The most important part of anyone's week.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Oh, sure.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Because, yeah, as you know, we have to come up
- 0:37Speaker 2: with movies. We're putting our list together now. We've still
- 0:39Speaker 2: got holes because people out there are slackers and are
- 0:42Speaker 2: not giving us movies.
- 0:43Speaker 4: So then I have to go out.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Into the world and find movies and be like, look,
- 0:47Speaker 2: do you want us to watch this crap? So this outing,
- 0:51Speaker 2: I actually, as you know, I go to a lot
- 0:53Speaker 2: of ridiculous stores.
- 0:55Speaker 4: Some are just kind of ghetto. So this one, thrifty
- 0:59Speaker 4: as it was, they had a ton of movies.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Like I hadn't been to this place in like a
- 1:04Speaker 2: long time and I forgot they even had anything.
- 1:06Speaker 4: And then I started looking.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Through and I'm like, I don't think they know what
- 1:09Speaker 2: they've got. These are actually kind of good options. And
- 1:12Speaker 2: then I'm like, oh, these are all cheap. So I got,
- 1:18Speaker 2: this will put it in perspective, not like I'm blowing
- 1:21Speaker 2: a ton of money. I ended up with like.
- 1:23Speaker 4: A old school grocery bag.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Of DVDs I got some VHS tapes.
- 1:29Speaker 4: I don't even have a player at this point.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I was just like, this is cool and I like
- 1:32Speaker 2: the cover.
- 1:33Speaker 4: And it was super cheap. So the thing was stacked
- 1:36Speaker 4: with movies.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I got like a pair of shoes and a remote
- 1:39Speaker 2: control and a paddle ball game. I had like all
- 1:41Speaker 2: of this stuff. Oh, and a drinking glass with Darren
- 1:44Speaker 2: McGavin on it. Oh, fantastic. No joke on that one.
- 1:46Speaker 2: I was like, well, I'm not passing this up. Obviously
- 1:49Speaker 2: I need this.
- 1:50Speaker 4: So all of this crap, $ 18. Nice. I was like,
- 1:54Speaker 4: so I'm not blowing tons of money.
- 1:55Speaker 2: I'm just super thrifty with my buying of crap. So,
- 2:00Speaker 2: but to put it in perspective, all of those.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Movies I got, I still didn't get this one. That's
- 2:07Speaker 4: what we're dealing with here. But very fitting for our
- 2:10Speaker 4: current movie.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Of the week, as we get into Roxy Hunter, or
- 2:16Speaker 2: as it is officially titled, Roxy Hunter and the Mystery
- 2:19Speaker 2: of the Moody Ghost Movie.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Here, if you want to see Roxy. Here she is.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Aww.
- 2:30Speaker 4: It seems like something I would have bought, actually.
- 2:32Speaker 3: That was there, though, and you didn't buy it?
- 2:34Speaker 4: Yeah, that was there and I didn't buy it.
- 2:35Speaker 2: But when I turned it around, I was like, wow,
- 2:38Speaker 2: this looks really bad.
- 2:40Speaker 4: And that's coming from me, who watches mostly children's programming.
- 2:44Speaker 2: But the plot breakdown here, if we want to go
- 2:46Speaker 2: into it, After moving to an eerie old house in
- 2:51Speaker 2: the country, nine-year-old super sleuth.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Roxy stumbles onto a world filled with unsolved mysteries, secret plots,
- 2:58Speaker 4: and spooky spirits. Yes, that's what it said. Spooky spirits!
- 3:04Speaker 2: Now Roxy and her best friend and boy genius Max
- 3:07Speaker 2: must race to save their home, reunite a lost love,
- 3:11Speaker 2: and uncover a true villain in the mystery of the
- 3:15Speaker 2: moody ghost or something like that.
- 3:17Speaker 4: So the moody ghost it looks pretty.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Bad actually after i didn't buy it i went and
- 3:23Speaker 2: watched the trailer online and it looks pretty bad like
- 3:28Speaker 2: it wasn't even nickelodeon level it says as seen on
- 3:31Speaker 2: nickelodeon but it wasn't even like one of theirs it's
- 3:34Speaker 2: like something in the early days they picked up because
- 3:35Speaker 2: they needed to fill time it's that level.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Of budget so apparently there's four roxy hunter movies that
- 3:43Speaker 3: Also doesn't surprise me. Roxy Hunter and the Mystery of
- 3:45Speaker 3: the Moody Ghost. Roxy Hunter and the Secret of the Shaman.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Oh.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Roxy Hunter and the Myth of the Mermaid. Roxy Hunter
- 3:52Speaker 3: and the Horrific Halloween.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Fun.
- 3:55Speaker 3: So they're big on alliteration.
- 3:57Speaker 4: All of those. We could be watching.
- 3:59Speaker 2: All of those because you guys won't give us a
- 4:01Speaker 2: better option is what I'm saying. We could be running
- 4:04Speaker 2: through the entire quadrology of Roxy Hunter because you won't
- 4:08Speaker 2: give us a better option.
- 4:10Speaker 1: And just to clarify, the full title has the word
- 4:14Speaker 1: movie in it?
- 4:15Speaker 4: That one did.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:17Speaker 4: I don't know about the other ones.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Well, on Wikipedia, it just says Roxy Hunter and the
- 4:21Speaker 3: Mystery of the Moody Ghost.
- 4:22Speaker 4: But on the cover, it says movie. Yep. I'm looking
- 4:29Speaker 4: at it now.
- 4:31Speaker 2: The last word is movie. Maybe it was also a series.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Maybe they had to specify. This isn't your old weekly
- 4:38Speaker 2: Roxy Hunter show. This is a theatrical film that we
- 4:42Speaker 2: put together with Roxy. The movie. The movie.
- 4:46Speaker 3: This is a great way to start a synopsis. In 1944,
- 4:51Speaker 3: a woman who was planning to get engaged was stopped
- 4:54Speaker 3: by her father's gun.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Oh, my.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Well, kids.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Not murdered by her father, but stopped by his gun.
- 5:04Speaker 4: He smacked her upside the head with it. Like, stop. Yeah.
- 5:08Speaker 4: A little pistol whipping gets you back in order. You
- 5:10Speaker 4: don't need to marry him. Jesus. See what we're left with.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Just. Join the Meltdown Horror Club and give us better
- 5:20Speaker 2: movies to watch, is what we're saying.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Otherwise, we're stuck with Roxy.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Or, again, like I always say, if you want to
- 5:26Speaker 3: join up and tell us to watch worse movies, that's fine, too.
- 5:30Speaker 4: We'll do it.
- 5:32Speaker 3: We would like you to be part of our clubhouse.
- 5:38Speaker 2: And once you're in there, you'll hear us say amazing
- 5:40Speaker 2: things like this. Finally.
- 5:43Speaker 3: You ever watch one of those movies that you're like,
- 5:45Speaker 3: I gotta see this.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Then you see it. This has been on my list forever.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Yeah, but you finally see it and you're like, oh,
- 5:50Speaker 3: it was more fun when I didn't see this.
- 5:53Speaker 4: I played that game to some extent.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Because there were parts of this movie that were like,
- 5:58Speaker 3: this is getting kind of sweet. And then if a
- 6:00Speaker 3: puppet would have just shown up, I'd have been like,
- 6:01Speaker 3: this is the best movie ever. Which I often say
- 6:05Speaker 3: about puppets. You hear like a rumbling noise and then
- 6:09Speaker 3: you see... thousands of bunny rabbits just go hopping through
- 6:14Speaker 3: and it matches up but that's.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Amazing yeah but no at the same time.
- 6:22Speaker 5: And here's what you get oh my god it is
- 6:27Speaker 5: life-size rabbits wearing people clothes walking around talking and doing things.
- 6:34Speaker 3: That movie was good, but I wish they would have
- 6:36Speaker 3: shown the monster that it's supposed to be about more.
- 6:39Speaker 4: This is the opposite. This is the opposite.
- 6:41Speaker 3: At a certain point, you're like, will I please stop
- 6:43Speaker 3: showing all these giant bunnies?
- 6:47Speaker 1: Also, when they broke into her house and were looking around,
- 6:50Speaker 1: at one point they opened a door and there was
- 6:52Speaker 1: a shelf of a bunch of jars. Those looked like fetuses, right?
- 6:58Speaker 4: Kind of. Was that just me? I was like.
- 7:01Speaker 3: That's the death by STD, right?
- 7:05Speaker 4: Yes, essentially.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Like supernatural STD.
- 7:10Speaker 2: It's trying so hard to make some sort of statement about.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Our current culture.
- 7:17Speaker 2: All of the people involved in this are social media influencers, blah, blah, whatever.
- 7:24Speaker 2: So it's trying to make some sort of... Trying to
- 7:28Speaker 2: make a statement about that, I think.
- 7:29Speaker 4: I don't even know what it is.
- 7:31Speaker 2: It's just presenting it as though it has some sort
- 7:33Speaker 2: of opinion on social media or influencers or whatever.
- 7:37Speaker 4: I don't know that it really does.
- 7:39Speaker 3: I just read the premise of this.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Yeah, it's stupid.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Apparently, this was used in a psychological study.
- 7:48Speaker 4: I can understand that.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Two, this was used as a stimulus in a psychological
- 7:52Speaker 3: experiment on the effects of acetaminophen on existential crisis.
- 7:57Speaker 4: Oh, God. Yeah.
- 8:05Speaker 2: And maybe whatever it was doing is only available overseas
- 8:09Speaker 2: now and we can't watch it here, so. Oops. Oh, well.
- 8:13Speaker 3: I even, and like I said, I even tried the
- 8:16Speaker 3: porno tube sites and nothing.
- 8:19Speaker 2: I mean.
- 8:19Speaker 4: Now, granted, I didn't try.
- 8:22Speaker 3: I didn't try all of the porno tube sites.
- 8:24Speaker 4: I mean, I was already there, so I typed it in. But,
- 8:27Speaker 4: you know.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Well, yeah. But there was, no joke, a secret passage
- 8:32Speaker 2: from one room into a next where you could have
- 8:34Speaker 2: someone completely locked away and then you could open that
- 8:37Speaker 2: to give them their, like, tray.
- 8:39Speaker 4: Of food as you keep them prisoner.
- 8:40Speaker 2: For years on end. Just saying.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I'm working on my gruel recipes.
- 8:45Speaker 4: This is how Nora rolls.
- 8:47Speaker 3: The fact that you want to perfect.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Gruel is impressive. You don't want it to be good.
- 8:52Speaker 2: How do I make it the most bland and horrible
- 8:55Speaker 2: experience I can for these people that I've trapped in
- 8:58Speaker 2: my basement? Yeah.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Let's say your mom kills her lover's family.
- 9:06Speaker 4: Okay.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Do you keep living next door to the house and
- 9:10Speaker 3: then renting it out to new people while leaving possible
- 9:15Speaker 3: evidence in the house at the same time?
- 9:19Speaker 4: What if mom worked in a cave? You know, like
- 9:22Speaker 4: moms do. Caves and stuff.
- 9:28Speaker 3: I feel like he had a really good idea with
- 9:31Speaker 3: the whole having sex with the prostitute.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Yeah, it's not So don't put that on the list.
- 9:38Speaker 3: I'm getting tired of comments about our society.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Again, there's a good way to do it. At least
- 9:44Speaker 4: it has something to say. This doesn't even have anything
- 9:47Speaker 4: to say.
- 9:47Speaker 2: It's just trying to say a lot about it and
- 9:50Speaker 2: hope that comes together as a comment.
- 9:52Speaker 3: But it's not.
- 9:53Speaker 4: It's just.
- 9:55Speaker 4: If you're from that part of the world, break it
- 9:57Speaker 4: down for us. Please let us know. We're dumb Americans, really.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Join the Horror Club and suggest another movie for us
- 10:02Speaker 3: to watch.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Could be Austrian. Could be whatever you want.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 10:07Speaker 4: Go to MovieMeltdown.com.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Click the Patreon link and join the Meltdown Horror Club.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Save us from Roxy.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Please. More than this. You know there's nothing more than this.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Tell me one thing more than this.
- 10:26Speaker 4: No, there's nothing.
