- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome to NFL Daily, where we're ready for another Seahawks
- 0:08Speaker 1: Rams game and another Chiefs Broncos game. How about the
- 0:12Speaker 1: games of the day delivering in the afternoon window. We've
- 0:16Speaker 1: had a lot of recaps in the Chris Wesleyan podcast
- 0:19Speaker 1: studio this season. I feel like this one is the
- 0:22Speaker 1: most important, and that's because Patrick, the weeks, you know,
- 0:27Speaker 1: make the tension rise. Each week is a little more
- 0:29Speaker 1: important than the last.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Yes, who cares about what happened in the first ten weeks.
- 0:34Speaker 1: They all matter, they all matter, they all matter.
- 0:36Speaker 3: But this, honestly, to your point, this feels like a
- 0:40Speaker 3: before week eleven and after week eleven where we'll look
- 0:43Speaker 3: back at this week and be like, oh, okay, that's
- 0:45Speaker 3: when we started to find out there's been a lot
- 0:47Speaker 3: of effing around.
- 0:48Speaker 4: And if you're scared, listeners, go to church.
- 0:52Speaker 1: More on that soon, but we are going to start
- 0:54Speaker 1: just across the sidewalk at SOFI Stadium.
- 0:59Speaker 5: This one I decided by a field goal one way
- 1:02Speaker 5: or another. Jason Myers from sixty one yards to win
- 1:07Speaker 5: it with one second to go for the Seahawks snaphole.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Then boot on the way. It's fading right, It's bleeding right, it's.
- 1:15Speaker 1: No good and the Rams are.
- 1:18Speaker 5: His first place in the NFC West.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Oh. Jason Myers a horror show of a kick for
- 1:27Speaker 1: the Seattle Seahawks in a twenty one to nineteen loss
- 1:33Speaker 1: to the Ram. You ever the Rams? Rather, you ever
- 1:35Speaker 1: think JB Long right before those big kicks?
- 1:38Speaker 2: Ever?
- 1:38Speaker 1: Did I better make this call great? Because it might
- 1:41Speaker 1: make it onto NFL Daily. The Rams survive a fascinating
- 1:48Speaker 1: end of the game sequence with all sorts of angles
- 1:52Speaker 1: and really a fascinating game, Jordan, with a lot of defense.
- 1:56Speaker 1: What stands out to you the most from this narrow Rams?
- 2:00Speaker 6: Well, Greg, I feel like, first of all, you learned
- 2:02Speaker 6: a lot about me today sitting next to you in
- 2:04Speaker 6: the cubes there in the newsroom. But both of these
- 2:07Speaker 6: defenses were just incredible today. That Seattle was in position
- 2:13Speaker 6: to win this game at the end was because of
- 2:15Speaker 6: their defense, which did not allow a Rams possession to
- 2:17Speaker 6: go over five plays, including five punts and six possessions
- 2:21Speaker 6: in the second half, and the Rams defense went into
- 2:24Speaker 6: their twenty twenty style death by ten thousand paper cuts
- 2:28Speaker 6: mode and held Seattle to four field goals until a
- 2:31Speaker 6: ken Walker touchdown right ahead of the two minute warning
- 2:34Speaker 6: in the fourth quarter, plus intercepted Sam Donald four times
- 2:38Speaker 6: throughout the game. This was a game that both offenses
- 2:40Speaker 6: will probably want to forget. A master class by Mike
- 2:44Speaker 6: McDonald to contain Matthew Stafford defend their hugely productive there's
- 2:48Speaker 6: thirteen personnel package that we said they were in position
- 2:51Speaker 6: to defend perfectly at just a seventeen percent success rate,
- 2:55Speaker 6: forced them back into eleven personnel without three fully healthy receivers,
- 2:59Speaker 6: go to recis and then they broke tendancy by playing
- 3:02Speaker 6: more man and blitzing the poop out of Matthew Stafford,
- 3:05Speaker 6: and by Chris Shula to keep his defense both patient
- 3:10Speaker 6: and aggressive, capping the NFL's most explosive passing offense to
- 3:15Speaker 6: just one completion of twenty plus air yards on six
- 3:18Speaker 6: attempts plus an interception, and ramping up pressure on Sam
- 3:22Speaker 6: Darnold in the second half. Artfully done by both Mike
- 3:26Speaker 6: McDonald and Chris Shula.
- 3:28Speaker 4: Take a freaking.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Bow, yet not maybe a great game for the MVP
- 3:33Speaker 1: candidacies or the conversation of either of these quarterbacks, although
- 3:37Speaker 1: the win is going to be important for Stafford, but
- 3:39Speaker 1: a reminder that yes, a defense first type of game
- 3:43Speaker 1: can be as exciting as any score fest. And you
- 3:47Speaker 1: mentioned how those rams drives were short, like their touchdown
- 3:50Speaker 1: drives were very short, one of them being a three
- 3:53Speaker 1: yard touchdown drive. They did have that one long march,
- 3:56Speaker 1: but then another one was twenty five yards. That led
- 3:58Speaker 1: to DeVante Adams after the game almost feeling like mixed emotions.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Let's listen, oh man, Okay, sorry, that's him arriving to
- 4:12Speaker 1: the prescott.
- 4:12Speaker 7: I don't think anybody's discouraged by what we did on
- 4:14Speaker 7: office today, but it was definitely not to our standard,
- 4:17Speaker 7: and I think we played kind of.
- 4:19Speaker 2: An average league game of football.
- 4:21Speaker 7: It wasn't like it was the worst of all time,
- 4:22Speaker 7: but to our standard, it definitely was not there. But
- 4:25Speaker 7: I mean, it makes you feel even better knowing that
- 4:27Speaker 7: you know, you can play like crap, like you know
- 4:29Speaker 7: what we feel like on offense, and still come out
- 4:31Speaker 7: with a victory. And it's a really good team.
- 4:33Speaker 3: It's very good that DeVante Adams does not play for
- 4:35Speaker 3: the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 4:37Speaker 2: This would lead a week of all this.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Ride receiver is just trashing the offense and saying they
- 4:43Speaker 3: played like crap. He's swearing as he walks in to
- 4:46Speaker 3: his news conference where this was just a great matchup
- 4:50Speaker 3: where I felt like the advantage would be the Rams
- 4:52Speaker 3: would be able to run the ball out of their
- 4:54Speaker 3: big personnel better than the Seattle Seahawks. And we saw
- 4:56Speaker 3: Kyra Williams of a great game averaging seven yards of carry.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Puka Nakua got in the run game as well, and
- 5:05Speaker 3: just of course you can it's tough to pick out
- 5:09Speaker 3: four plays where Sam Donald makes bad decisions and be like,
- 5:12Speaker 3: oh well, other than those plays, because there were more
- 5:14Speaker 3: than that. There was a play where Rashid Shaheed had
- 5:17Speaker 3: dusted Emmanuel Forbes for what would have been an easy touchdown.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Donald left it short. Forbes was able to get a
- 5:23Speaker 2: finger on that.
- 5:23Speaker 3: He got bailed out by a couple of past interference
- 5:26Speaker 3: plays that were close. Admittedly, like on the final drive,
- 5:29Speaker 3: Emmanuel Forbes did interfere with JSN and they get a
- 5:33Speaker 3: chance at the kick. But in terms of the donald
- 5:36Speaker 3: skeptics out there, like you mentioned it, this is their
- 5:40Speaker 3: evidence number one. This is the first thing that they'll
- 5:42Speaker 3: submit when they make the case.
- 5:44Speaker 4: Jordan, it's the Rams.
- 5:45Speaker 6: The Rams are the monster in his closet right because
- 5:47Speaker 6: he has he has struggled against them, and I think
- 5:50Speaker 6: Chris Shula has played them a little bit differently every time.
- 5:53Speaker 4: They ramped up the pressure in the second half of
- 5:55Speaker 4: this game.
- 5:56Speaker 6: Sure, and then obviously we know that that's affected Sam
- 5:58Speaker 6: Donald in the past.
- 5:59Speaker 4: But they literally they made them earn.
- 6:01Speaker 6: They capped everything, and they made them earn every single
- 6:05Speaker 6: inch of the field. And where I loved this Clint
- 6:08Speaker 6: Kubiak offense, and I told Greg at one point, I
- 6:10Speaker 6: think I'm Clint pilled here because it's like it looked
- 6:13Speaker 6: like the throwback Shanahan offense is where they would just
- 6:16Speaker 6: run like Zoro toss against the Rams all day, so
- 6:19Speaker 6: toss the ball and hit the perimeter with some of
- 6:21Speaker 6: their rushing attacks, and they kept spamming it and it
- 6:24Speaker 6: was super effective, and they just could not get over
- 6:26Speaker 6: the top to make these explosive plays all but one time.
- 6:30Speaker 6: This is how Seattle's possessions went the entire game. Interception,
- 6:34Speaker 6: field goal, field goal, field goal, interception, field goal, punt, interception, interception, punt,
- 6:41Speaker 6: and then the touchdown. And that happened with a sort
- 6:45Speaker 6: of a masterclass in clock management because it was with
- 6:47Speaker 6: two twenty three on the clock, so they were racing
- 6:50Speaker 6: the two minute warning and then were able to get
- 6:52Speaker 6: that extra stoppage to put them back in a position
- 6:55Speaker 6: to even win the game with that field goal. But
- 6:59Speaker 6: it's pretty lucky that when the Rams overhauled their entire
- 7:02Speaker 6: special teams unit.
- 7:03Speaker 4: They kept the best player on.
- 7:05Speaker 6: That special teams unit, Ethan quote unquote monster leg Evans,
- 7:09Speaker 6: who ripped a punt to the one yard line the
- 7:12Speaker 6: best punt punt of the year, I mean.
- 7:14Speaker 1: A pun of the year the year. We're actlualely not
- 7:17Speaker 1: accepting any nominations. Here we are November sixteenth, Ethan Evans,
- 7:21Speaker 1: You've won. That's going to be the pun.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Of the year.
- 7:23Speaker 4: And you had to go.
- 7:23Speaker 6: If you're Sam Darnold, not only are you at that
- 7:26Speaker 6: point just rattled because of what they're they've been taking
- 7:29Speaker 6: the ball away, but also you know that you're not
- 7:31Speaker 6: running the ball up the middle very well, and you
- 7:33Speaker 6: can't go out of bounce. You're not trying to you know,
- 7:35Speaker 6: you're trying to contain you in the perimeter two and
- 7:39Speaker 6: and so they had to hope that this would be
- 7:42Speaker 6: the thing field goal range with a minute forty one
- 7:45Speaker 6: to play after that punt.
- 7:46Speaker 1: You know, I hate good losses because the next you
- 7:50Speaker 1: know you aren't not necessarily going to play that well,
- 7:52Speaker 1: or the game will be totally different when it's in Seattle.
- 7:54Speaker 1: But Seattle can at least tell themselves that, look, we
- 7:58Speaker 1: outgain them by over one hundred, We threw four interceptions
- 8:02Speaker 1: and we were still in this game. Unfortunately, they lose
- 8:05Speaker 1: Gray's Abel to an injury, and now you combine that
- 8:08Speaker 1: with the Sundel injury at center. We'll see how serious
- 8:11Speaker 1: Abel winds up being, but it didn't look great that
- 8:14Speaker 1: that could be a problem for them long term coming
- 8:17Speaker 1: out of this game. And I do think there's gonna
- 8:19Speaker 1: be a concern until Darnald can prove that he can
- 8:22Speaker 1: beat this Rams team, because you mentioned it. He had
- 8:23Speaker 1: two really rough games last year against him, including in
- 8:26Speaker 1: the regular season. Let's actually listen to Donald's fourth pick
- 8:30Speaker 1: of the day.
- 8:31Speaker 5: Donald lists his leg to call for the silent counts
- 8:34Speaker 5: now against the Blitz, has time now, it breaks down,
- 8:37Speaker 5: hit jump past, he runs away again, intercepted by the
- 8:41Speaker 5: Rams out the right side at midfield.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Howl takes it away with d wo.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Four interceptions in midnight mode.
- 8:52Speaker 8: They turned Shan Donald into a pumpkin.
- 8:55Speaker 1: That's so fun. WHOA that's a good one.
- 8:57Speaker 6: Sneaky big comment too from j be Long because I
- 9:00Speaker 6: think Quenton Lake looked the coolest in the Midnight forms
- 9:03Speaker 6: with the Midnight Blue sleeve on as well. Unfortunately, Quentin
- 9:06Speaker 6: Lake left the game at halftime. He's the he's their
- 9:09Speaker 6: star position player, and and uh, Charles.
- 9:14Speaker 4: Wallace came or excuse me, Josh Wallace. That's a wrinkle
- 9:17Speaker 4: in time comment.
- 9:18Speaker 6: Josh Wallace came in and and he's a former undrafted
- 9:23Speaker 6: free agent and had to play that position. And still
- 9:25Speaker 6: they held the way that they did and made plays
- 9:27Speaker 6: on the ball. I think Darius Williams has made some
- 9:29Speaker 6: significant plays against Seattle, specifically with the Rams in crucial
- 9:34Speaker 6: situations in his time, and so to do the things
- 9:37Speaker 6: that they did despite their own injuries. And again I
- 9:41Speaker 6: can't overstate enough how this group of corners and safeties
- 9:47Speaker 6: who have been a huge question mark for especially the
- 9:50Speaker 6: first part of the season, have really come together as
- 9:51Speaker 6: a group to limit an offensive, explosive passing attack like
- 9:57Speaker 6: this was astounding.
- 9:59Speaker 4: They were in din basically the whole game.
- 10:01Speaker 6: So even when Quinton Lake was out who they uses
- 10:02Speaker 6: their dime linebacker as that star position player, they still
- 10:06Speaker 6: stayed in the personnel that they knew would help them
- 10:09Speaker 6: win the game and cap the explosives.
- 10:11Speaker 1: And when you do that, you're essentially daring the other
- 10:13Speaker 1: team to run. And the Seahawks couldn't do it enough.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Fifty one percent. Yeah, in dime. And it was fascinating
- 10:20Speaker 1: to see the game plans on both sides because you know,
- 10:22Speaker 1: the whole idea is like, oh, don't blitz Matthew Stafford.
- 10:24Speaker 1: You know he's great against it. They blitzed a ton
- 10:27Speaker 1: against them forty five percent of the time. It was
- 10:29Speaker 1: ritt out of him and it was very effective. So
- 10:32Speaker 1: both defenses I think had had great game plans and ultimately, yeah,
- 10:35Speaker 1: it was La Rams the red zone and DeVante Adams
- 10:40Speaker 1: his one catch for one yard on eight targets. You're right.
- 10:43Speaker 1: If aj Brown had that game, it would have been
- 10:45Speaker 1: absolutely crazy.
- 10:46Speaker 3: But kudos to the Seattle Seahawks because for the first time,
- 10:50Speaker 3: what felt like the first time in the past seven weeks,
- 10:52Speaker 3: the DeVante Adams split out wide by himself on the
- 10:55Speaker 3: opposite side of the tight ends play was successfully stopped.
- 11:00Speaker 3: But then they go back to the other version of
- 11:01Speaker 3: the play where he runs the slant and he gets
- 11:03Speaker 3: a touchdown. On the very next play, which actually got
- 11:06Speaker 3: is a thousandth career reception, So congratulations to Vante Is.
- 11:10Speaker 3: He has something to celebrate. But again he's tearing the
- 11:12Speaker 3: team apart. In the postgame, oh.
- 11:14Speaker 1: No, so yes, Stafford finishes with just one hundred and
- 11:16Speaker 1: thirty yards, but yeah, avoids the big turnover and shout
- 11:21Speaker 1: out to Sean McVay. It happened so long ago. You mentioned.
- 11:23Speaker 1: This has been a long day, but his fourth down
- 11:25Speaker 1: religion that he has found early in this game made
- 11:28Speaker 1: a huge difference. He is aggressive as hell. It's helping
- 11:31Speaker 1: him out. Great win by the Rams. Let's go to
- 11:34Speaker 1: the other big game in the late window. Let's go
- 11:37Speaker 1: to Denver.
- 11:39Speaker 5: This ball be spotted right between the hash marks at
- 11:42Speaker 5: the twenty five an attempt of thirty five yards against
- 11:45Speaker 5: Kansas City.
- 11:46Speaker 2: I won't even mention it. Snap placement, kick all.
- 11:49Speaker 1: The way and he is good.
- 11:52Speaker 5: They don't put this one last year in Kansas City.
- 11:57Speaker 2: The Denver cl goes he had beaten the Kansas City.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Chief by a final score of twenty two to nineteen.
- 12:05Speaker 1: You can mention it Patrick after it goes out of
- 12:08Speaker 1: the upright Will Lutz from thirty five yards out after
- 12:13Speaker 1: a couple of clutch I'll say it bow knicks fourth
- 12:18Speaker 1: quarter throws. The one that set up the game winner
- 12:22Speaker 1: was thirty two yards to Troy Franklin on second and
- 12:27Speaker 1: eight to the opposite shoulder where where Justin Watson wasn't
- 12:30Speaker 1: expecting it. But earlier on the drive he hits Courtland
- 12:33Speaker 1: Sutton on a third and five. He hits Courtland Sutton
- 12:35Speaker 1: on a twenty yard throw on third and fifteen. It's
- 12:39Speaker 1: a tricky formula, these fourth quarter bow knicks like performances,
- 12:43Speaker 1: but it keeps happening. They're nails in one score games
- 12:47Speaker 1: and the Chiefs at five and five. All five games
- 12:50Speaker 1: are by one score their losses.
- 12:52Speaker 3: And it's a total slip of the script from the
- 12:54Speaker 3: twenty twenty four Denver Broncos who lost all of these
- 12:57Speaker 3: one score games. We've seen them come back and make
- 12:59Speaker 3: the where you wonder Coach Payton take the governor off
- 13:03Speaker 3: of bow nicks prior to eight minutes to go in
- 13:06Speaker 3: the ball game and see what things would look like.
- 13:08Speaker 2: But it was safe bow a safe offense.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Over the course of this game against the Kansas City Chiefs,
- 13:13Speaker 3: where things got back and forth late Kansas City relying
- 13:17Speaker 3: on a couple of big defensive pass interference calls on
- 13:20Speaker 3: Riley Moss, who actually leads the.
- 13:21Speaker 4: NFL drew API yeah hitting.
- 13:26Speaker 3: And no Patrick Shtan in this one. And so you think, well,
- 13:28Speaker 3: Riley Moss gets all those targets because their tan's on
- 13:30Speaker 3: the field. No teams just love throwing at Riley Moss.
- 13:33Speaker 3: But the team, the player that Patrick Mahomes loved throwing
- 13:36Speaker 3: at the most in this game was Jakwan McMillan, who
- 13:39Speaker 3: ultimately picked him off. He was targeted on twenty two
- 13:42Speaker 3: percent of the plays where the Kansas City Chiefs passed
- 13:46Speaker 3: the ball and there were only he gave up six receptions,
- 13:51Speaker 3: but he made Patrick Mahomes pay on those. He actually
- 13:53Speaker 3: got a huge not just an interception, got a sack
- 13:57Speaker 3: late in the game that got the Denver Broncos the
- 13:59Speaker 3: ball back all that possession where they go down and
- 14:02Speaker 3: take the lead. And this was just a great game
- 14:05Speaker 3: by a Denver defense to muddy it up. Have a
- 14:08Speaker 3: rock fight, and I will take the Denver Broncos in
- 14:10Speaker 3: a rock fight against almost anybody.
- 14:13Speaker 2: At this point.
- 14:14Speaker 6: Statistically, you should seven to two in one score games.
- 14:17Speaker 1: It's crazy. And I think when the Chiefs got the
- 14:19Speaker 1: ball back in a tie game late you're thinking, Okay,
- 14:22Speaker 1: this is where they go down and they take the lead,
- 14:25Speaker 1: and that's after the Kelsey go ahead touchdown earlier in
- 14:29Speaker 1: the fourth quarter. And it didn't matter that the McMillan
- 14:31Speaker 1: sack is the one that you mentioned, and he had
- 14:33Speaker 1: one earlier in the game. He gets the game ball
- 14:35Speaker 1: afterwards with those two sacks, and it's just these guys
- 14:38Speaker 1: popping up on their defense that you don't see coming.
- 14:41Speaker 1: And it is Nick. So you can tell me if
- 14:43Speaker 1: I'm wrong, Patrick, But I thought it was a more
- 14:45Speaker 1: consistent overall game in general. He played pretty well throughout
- 14:48Speaker 1: the game. Their success rates way higher than the Chiefs
- 14:51Speaker 1: in their passing, and it had Sean Payton feeling a
- 14:54Speaker 1: certain way after the game.
- 14:56Speaker 9: But it's fine in those guys that can tune out
- 14:59Speaker 9: the noise, and there's been a lot of noise, like
- 15:01Speaker 9: a lot of just I won't comment on it, but anyway,
- 15:07Speaker 9: and I hear some of the narratives and I just
- 15:09Speaker 9: want to like cry, But anyway, it is what it is.
- 15:15Speaker 2: That's your jobs.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Yeah, and I hope somebody does their job because they're
- 15:20Speaker 3: in the room laughing and the rest of us outside
- 15:22Speaker 3: of Denver have no idea what.
- 15:23Speaker 1: The I think it's he is sad for bow Nicks.
- 15:28Speaker 1: How much criticism he's getting. That's how I read that.
- 15:31Speaker 6: I want to know where he goes when he gives
- 15:33Speaker 6: the thousand yards stare. If I ever got in that
- 15:35Speaker 6: room to ask a question, that's probably what I would ask.
- 15:38Speaker 10: Uh.
- 15:38Speaker 4: I would totally derail the rest of the beat.
- 15:41Speaker 3: When Bo was not pressured today it was twenty two
- 15:43Speaker 3: of twenty nine for two hundred and seventy three yards,
- 15:45Speaker 3: had a passer rating of one o four. All those
- 15:47Speaker 3: numbers better than the very notable quarterback who plays on
- 15:50Speaker 3: the other side of the field, Greg Rosenthal, I asked
- 15:53Speaker 3: you prior to this game. Yeah, if Bo Nicks is
- 15:55Speaker 3: able to go in get a win, essentially bury in
- 15:59Speaker 3: fork the Kansas City Chiefs at this point in the division.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Okay, fork the division. Even then, I'm not gonna fork
- 16:06Speaker 1: him just because you never know. But they are three
- 16:10Speaker 1: losses back and have a bad division record.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Okay, does Bonnicks go up in my glorious spreadsheet and
- 16:16Speaker 3: become a part of the conversation here in twenty twenty five?
- 16:20Speaker 3: Can I award him? Points are you refusing to allow
- 16:23Speaker 3: Bonnicks to participate.
- 16:24Speaker 4: In this, and be careful what you say because you
- 16:26Speaker 4: might make Sean Payton cry.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I'm not putting him in the conversation. You gotta trust
- 16:30Speaker 1: your eyeballs. I know that the quarterback of the number
- 16:33Speaker 1: one seed, which right now they are almost always gets
- 16:37Speaker 1: MVP votes, but now you have five. Like, if he
- 16:39Speaker 1: keeps this up, some people will give him like a
- 16:42Speaker 1: fifth place vote or something. But we got a long
- 16:44Speaker 1: way to go. I'm not ready to put him in
- 16:46Speaker 1: the conversation. But you know what he's doing is he's
- 16:48Speaker 1: kind of setting the groundwork that if he does suddenly
- 16:50Speaker 1: catch fire down down the stretch, you never know. The
- 16:53Speaker 1: Chiefs on the other side, Jordan, like, I still do
- 16:57Speaker 1: believe that the bones of this team are better than
- 17:01Speaker 1: the team from a year ago. And yet they are
- 17:04Speaker 1: five and five with the Colts coming into town next week,
- 17:07Speaker 1: and man, their margin for error is brutal, and it's
- 17:12Speaker 1: out of their hands now. They are likely to be
- 17:15Speaker 1: on the road for three straight weeks if they want
- 17:17Speaker 1: to make the Super Bowl, assuming they make the playoffs,
- 17:20Speaker 1: and assuming the Broncos and the Chargers both don't collapse,
- 17:23Speaker 1: which you never know.
- 17:25Speaker 6: One thing lou Anarumo can do to that point of
- 17:27Speaker 6: who's coming to play them next is he can mix
- 17:30Speaker 6: his coverages and send pressure in different ways the same
- 17:33Speaker 6: way that Manage Joseph did. Today the Broncos blitzed. And
- 17:36Speaker 6: I've used this phrase multiple times tonight. Let's the poop
- 17:38Speaker 6: out of Pat Mahomes fourteen times second pressures on those
- 17:42Speaker 6: fourteen blitzes. And he may have loved throwing at Jaquon McMillan,
- 17:46Speaker 6: but Jaquan McMillan sure loved hitting Pat Mahomes because two
- 17:49Speaker 6: of the three sacks he took against the blitz were
- 17:52Speaker 6: from McMillan. And so I think that is copyable by
- 17:55Speaker 6: a defense such as lou An Arumos that's using first
- 17:58Speaker 6: of all, has more personnel now, especially with the big
- 18:01Speaker 6: trade that they just made, and also can mix those
- 18:03Speaker 6: coverages behind the blitz the way that could be successful
- 18:06Speaker 6: and could muddy things up for not just Patrick Mahomes,
- 18:09Speaker 6: who can see anything and everything, but specifically for the
- 18:11Speaker 6: receivers trying to find contours within all that muck, and.
- 18:14Speaker 3: The receiver that the only receiver that he trusts to
- 18:16Speaker 3: find contours at this point is still Travis kelcey and
- 18:19Speaker 3: this is with everyone back, and you would like to
- 18:21Speaker 3: see Rashi Rice make a contested catch like he had
- 18:24Speaker 3: a chance to do. You get one from Tae Kwon Thornton,
- 18:27Speaker 3: but like Taekwon Thornton, only that's the only thing Tawk
- 18:31Speaker 3: Kwan Thornton is doing right leading the NFL in yards
- 18:34Speaker 3: per catch.
- 18:34Speaker 1: One for sixty one.
- 18:36Speaker 3: It was a big sixty one, But that does not
- 18:38Speaker 3: an offense make like it's hard to sustain like any
- 18:41Speaker 3: level of success when you rely on that. So it's
- 18:44Speaker 3: all Travis kelce and this group that has so much talent,
- 18:47Speaker 3: and when they're moving around and the play calls are
- 18:49Speaker 3: successful and defenses aren't standing there and waiting on them
- 18:52Speaker 3: to come through their area, they look great right now,
- 18:56Speaker 3: It's tough to have confidence in it considering this is
- 18:59Speaker 3: multiple games a row with a bye week in between, where.
- 19:02Speaker 2: It's looked very similar against two different teams.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Yeah, and you mentioned like getting other guys involved there.
- 19:08Speaker 1: You know, Rasi Rice and Xavier Worthy combined for sixty
- 19:11Speaker 1: three yards on fourteen targets, and the running game was
- 19:16Speaker 1: was fine like on a per run basis, but they
- 19:18Speaker 1: just don't stick with it and mahomes in the passing game,
- 19:21Speaker 1: I think to be real his MVP chances, which I
- 19:25Speaker 1: feel like looking forward was we're pretty high going into
- 19:27Speaker 1: this week to finally get it. Well, they've taken a hit.
- 19:31Speaker 1: They've taken a hit.
- 19:31Speaker 2: It was tough with the buye because he got no
- 19:34Speaker 2: points for that.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Yeah, it gives him more points with the chance because
- 19:37Speaker 3: points do escalate, but this is back to back weeks
- 19:39Speaker 3: with no points.
- 19:40Speaker 1: In the conversation, yeah, they just have a lot of
- 19:43Speaker 1: ground to make up, and I don't think enough can
- 19:45Speaker 1: be said about the job vance Joseph is doing. Like
- 19:48Speaker 1: because it's not just the names. You know, Zach Allen
- 19:51Speaker 1: had a big play late, but it's justin Streanad. It's Robinson,
- 19:55Speaker 1: Quinarius Robinson who was not over familiar with, like making
- 19:59Speaker 1: a lot of plays. He goes playing a lot of
- 20:01Speaker 1: snaps and then Uzerique a defensive end for them, also
- 20:05Speaker 1: like making noise. It's just it's a team that's greater
- 20:09Speaker 1: than the sum of their parts. And that is a
- 20:10Speaker 1: credit to this coaching staff who is great at everything
- 20:14Speaker 1: except for avoiding the refs. If you're watching us on YouTube,
- 20:18Speaker 1: I do just have to point out that that play
- 20:20Speaker 1: where Sean Payton is running down the sideline and absolutely
- 20:25Speaker 1: decks the referee. They both go down, and then the
- 20:28Speaker 1: ref with the amazing move. He's not even gonna look
- 20:30Speaker 1: back at Sean Payton before he throws the flag. He's
- 20:33Speaker 1: just gonna throw the flag. I don't even think about you,
- 20:35Speaker 1: Sean Payton. Bad job by the get back coach there
- 20:39Speaker 1: on that play.
- 20:39Speaker 4: I don't think about you at all, you.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Know who I do think about a lot. And it
- 20:43Speaker 1: really has set up the end of this season to
- 20:45Speaker 1: be extra special. The Titans of the AFC over the
- 20:48Speaker 1: last five years, all trying to get back in the mix,
- 20:51Speaker 1: the Chiefs trying to get into the playoffs. We know,
- 20:54Speaker 1: the Ravens are now streaking, and the Buffalo Bills trying
- 20:57Speaker 1: to stay in touch in the AFC East.
- 21:00Speaker 11: Three receivers to the left, Cook to the right of Allen,
- 21:02Speaker 11: and the shotgun. Here on second and four, Allen back
- 21:05Speaker 11: to pass, now gonna tuck it and run as he's
- 21:07Speaker 11: looking for the end zone, and the searge pushes him
- 21:11Speaker 11: in for his six touchdown of the game. He is
- 21:16Speaker 11: a beast with a Capitol beat. He is a scoring machine.
- 21:21Speaker 1: He is a fantasy dynamo, and when you need a
- 21:25Speaker 1: win from the Buffalo Bills, you need to take a
- 21:30Speaker 1: part a defense that I thought was balanced enough and
- 21:34Speaker 1: primed to slow down this one dimensional Bills offense. Josh
- 21:39Speaker 1: Allen is the man that you want, one of the
- 21:42Speaker 1: only guys to ever do it. In fact, I think
- 21:44Speaker 1: is he the only guy to ever go three passing touchdowns,
- 21:46Speaker 1: three rushing udowns and he's dot it two different times.
- 21:50Speaker 1: It's incredible. That's Chris Brown. By the way, on WGR
- 21:53Speaker 1: they put a forty burger on my guy. Todd Bowles
- 21:57Speaker 1: end up winning going away forty four already two Patrick,
- 22:00Speaker 1: we both thought the Buccaneers could win this game, and
- 22:04Speaker 1: we were very wrong.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Why were we wrong, Well, what we thought was going
- 22:08Speaker 3: to happen was how the game started. Because the Buccaneers
- 22:11Speaker 3: get a nice drive, they do get some yards, they
- 22:16Speaker 3: established the run very early, and Mecha Buk got a
- 22:19Speaker 3: nice game on a screen set up. They didn't necessarily
- 22:21Speaker 3: get points, but they got a great punt to pin
- 22:24Speaker 3: the Buffalo Bills down at the three yard line.
- 22:26Speaker 2: So first two.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Snaps of the game, Gabe Davis and Josh Palmer run mash.
- 22:30Speaker 2: They run into each other, ball hits the ground incomplete.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Very next play, the Bucks blitz from depth and Savassier
- 22:38Speaker 3: Dennis nobody picks him up. Josh Allen has Savassier Dennis
- 22:42Speaker 3: pulling him down inside the end zone, decides he's going
- 22:44Speaker 3: to throw a two hand push pass that gets picked
- 22:47Speaker 3: off by Jacob Parrish and the Bucks.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Get the ball.
- 22:51Speaker 3: They only get a field goal, though the Bucks had
- 22:54Speaker 3: like instant impact though for Mikole Hartman. On the ensuing kickoff,
- 22:58Speaker 3: he gets a sixty four yard return leading to a score.
- 23:01Speaker 3: It devolves into a score fest towards the end where
- 23:03Speaker 3: both teams are going back and forth, but the Bills
- 23:05Speaker 3: keep hitting these big play punches. And we saw it
- 23:08Speaker 3: with Travon Henderson against the Bucks a week ago, where
- 23:11Speaker 3: the Bucks were doing this bend and break defense, but
- 23:15Speaker 3: it was more break than not because James Cook had
- 23:18Speaker 3: a twenty five yard reception excuse. Ty Johnson had a
- 23:23Speaker 3: huge catch and run towards the end of the first half.
- 23:26Speaker 3: And there's this up in the play call up in
- 23:31Speaker 3: the booth, where you know Joe Brady obviously goes through
- 23:35Speaker 3: a lot when things don't go well for Buffalo. He
- 23:38Speaker 3: lists the Lexan the crystallized cover over the button and
- 23:42Speaker 3: he mashes the seventeen button.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Yes, and that was it.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Like essentially, it was just all Josh Allen and the
- 23:49Speaker 3: Buccaneers defense having to adjust. Like what happened when Josh
- 23:53Speaker 3: Allen rolls, like everything is looking it's focused on seventeen
- 23:56Speaker 3: and when it was at seventeen there was big space
- 23:59Speaker 3: for other guys to make play and.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Then he's running over people.
- 24:02Speaker 3: He just does it all and my whole thinking is
- 24:04Speaker 3: it's very tough to sustain that. Yeah, it's tough, but
- 24:07Speaker 3: he goes out and does it to the extent that
- 24:11Speaker 3: what else?
- 24:11Speaker 2: What else are you supposed to do?
- 24:12Speaker 1: These are the performances that you often see late in
- 24:15Speaker 1: the season. This happened early, like even when in their
- 24:17Speaker 1: first playoff run, it's like they started pressing that button,
- 24:20Speaker 1: especially with him running late in the season and then
- 24:23Speaker 1: they really took off. So like this late in the
- 24:25Speaker 1: season is starting a little earlier this year and you're
- 24:28Speaker 1: seeing plays like this Throw of the Year nominee.
- 24:32Speaker 11: It's an empty set play clock down to two alan
- 24:35Speaker 11: in the shotgun one and there's the snap back to
- 24:38Speaker 11: pass looking left, Pumps pulls to his right, the pocket collapsing,
- 24:41Speaker 11: comes back to his left. He's it down the left
- 24:44Speaker 11: sideline for Shavers in the end zone for a touchdown.
- 24:49Speaker 11: A broken play goes for six forty.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Three yards, Like, what do you do against that?
- 24:55Speaker 10: That's the Josh Allen that we've come to know in Buffalo.
- 25:00Speaker 1: It really was that. That's his old teammate, right, Eric
- 25:04Speaker 1: would on the call. The funny thing is a broken play,
- 25:06Speaker 1: but Josh is the one that broke it, Like it
- 25:08Speaker 1: was a three man rush with no pressure at all,
- 25:10Speaker 1: and he just starts running around and he makes something
- 25:12Speaker 1: that's true.
- 25:12Speaker 4: That's true, good mode. I destroyed my own creation.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Which is the problem with the three man rush against
- 25:18Speaker 3: the Bills, where now you've got eleven guys watching number
- 25:22Speaker 3: seventeen and it's like, oh god, what's he going to do?
- 25:24Speaker 2: Oh God, what's he going to do? Oh?
- 25:26Speaker 3: I have to cover Tyrol Shavers of all people, where
- 25:29Speaker 3: it's you've got Tyrrel Shavers and Gabe Davis and Mikole Hartman,
- 25:33Speaker 3: like that's the group of people and they damned your
- 25:35Speaker 3: score fifty points.
- 25:36Speaker 1: The crazy thing is the Bucks lost this game when
- 25:39Speaker 1: they run for two hundred and two yards. The success
- 25:42Speaker 1: soright tight. Now, they did get stuff behind the line
- 25:44Speaker 1: of scrimmage a lot in this game too, So they're
- 25:46Speaker 1: a little bit of a boomer bust running game. But
- 25:48Speaker 1: if you had told me, you know, they run for
- 25:50Speaker 1: two hundred and two yards. Sean Tucker is breaking tackles,
- 25:52Speaker 1: he goes over one hundred. He played really well. They
- 25:56Speaker 1: have to take Keon Coleman out of the game before
- 26:00Speaker 1: it even starts because he was late to a team
- 26:02Speaker 1: meeting and he's inactive and he's he's getting kind of
- 26:04Speaker 1: the business from his teammates. After the game, Dion Dawkins
- 26:07Speaker 1: said that his own teammate is on the hot seat.
- 26:10Speaker 1: I never heard of that one before, saying that he
- 26:12Speaker 1: needs to grow up. And yet the Bills go out
- 26:15Speaker 1: there and they have a great performance. And on the
- 26:18Speaker 1: flip side, the Bucks they're just not coming out. I
- 26:21Speaker 1: know early in the season they were getting They've had
- 26:23Speaker 1: a very tough schedule and they've been coming out. They're
- 26:25Speaker 1: injured still, they are still injured, but they're health They're
- 26:28Speaker 1: pretty healthy up front in terms of their offensive line.
- 26:31Speaker 6: Because of the way that they're running the ball, Like
- 26:33Speaker 6: that's the thing. If you take out Josh Allen god
- 26:35Speaker 6: mode of this game. And I know you can't extrapolate
- 26:39Speaker 6: that the results are the results, but I still think
- 26:42Speaker 6: this Bucks team is going to be fine. You do
- 26:44Speaker 6: need cleaner play from Baker Mayfield. Baker Mayfield did not
- 26:47Speaker 6: do himself many favors ahead of this week's Quarterback Island,
- 26:50Speaker 6: and certainly, as Patrick noted when he came in, certainly
- 26:53Speaker 6: no favors in the conversation.
- 26:55Speaker 3: No, it's it's a zero for and Greg wants Baker out,
- 27:00Speaker 3: wanted Baker in.
- 27:01Speaker 4: I'm not ready to quit him.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Yeah, in the first.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Has he been one of the is there even any are.
- 27:05Speaker 4: You literally forgetting the entire first part of the season.
- 27:08Speaker 2: But even Greg agree that it doesn't matter.
- 27:11Speaker 1: It does matter, But I don't think anyone is making
- 27:13Speaker 1: an argument that he's a top like seven quarterback in
- 27:16Speaker 1: the NFL right now.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Like so far this season, and considering the opportunity where
- 27:20Speaker 3: this Bill's secondary has struggled against players the caliber of
- 27:23Speaker 3: a Mecca Buca, there really wasn't that opportunity today. He
- 27:27Speaker 3: got non targets, only caught five of them for forty yards.
- 27:30Speaker 3: He did have a drop in there, but there were
- 27:31Speaker 3: also some uncatchable balls thrown in rough situations where Baker
- 27:35Speaker 3: only threw FO one hundred and seventy three yards in
- 27:37Speaker 3: a game where they score thirty.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Two points, and ultimately you're talking about when they're going
- 27:42Speaker 1: back and forth in the second half, But the reason
- 27:45Speaker 1: the Bucks end up losing by two scores is right
- 27:48Speaker 1: when that starts, he throws a big groaner of an interception.
- 27:51Speaker 1: And he just needs to play at an MVP level,
- 27:54Speaker 1: I think, with what's been around like, he would need
- 27:56Speaker 1: to be at this level for them to be where
- 27:58Speaker 1: they want to be. So they fall to six, and
- 28:00Speaker 1: although you know they're still ahead in the divisions, it's
- 28:03Speaker 1: getting the game. It's getting a little closer. The Bills stay,
- 28:08Speaker 1: you know, in distance there with the Patriots. They're up
- 28:10Speaker 1: to seven and three. Let's take a break. We got
- 28:14Speaker 1: some other big leverage games in terms of playoff positioning.
- 28:19Speaker 12: Still to go.
- 28:22Speaker 13: Playoffs seventeen sixteen. This for the win here at US
- 28:32Speaker 13: Bank Stadium.
- 28:33Speaker 14: Daily on the ball out of the hold of Tory
- 28:36Speaker 14: Taylor Wright hash light angle left from forty nine Cairo
- 28:39Speaker 14: Santos the eight on his white jersey, awaiting a snap
- 28:43Speaker 14: snap his back hold. His good sweeps the right leg.
- 28:47Speaker 14: Cairo Santos is up.
- 28:48Speaker 11: He's God, God God.
- 28:51Speaker 1: From forty eight.
- 28:53Speaker 14: Cairo Santos bob hung the Viking logo, Bears with it
- 28:58Speaker 14: nineteen seventy Another comeback drive by Kayleb Williams.
- 29:03Speaker 1: The Iceman coming to the Bears, kicking from the luggage. Oh,
- 29:08Speaker 1: great call there by Jeff Joniak on w MBP. Bears
- 29:14Speaker 1: win nineteen seventeen and a game that they didn't think
- 29:18Speaker 1: they were gonna have to sweat out like that. I
- 29:21Speaker 1: love Paul Allen so much. I kind of wanted to
- 29:23Speaker 1: lead with a sad Paul Allen, but you know what,
- 29:25Speaker 1: that was a great call and is a great moment
- 29:28Speaker 1: in recent Bears history. I know you've had a little
- 29:32Speaker 1: season pop up here or there, but you've got a
- 29:34Speaker 1: young quarterback, you've got a first year head coach, and
- 29:38Speaker 1: you just beat the Minnesota Vikings to go seven and three.
- 29:43Speaker 1: When the Bears lost that Week one game, I remember
- 29:47Speaker 1: saying in the post game with Chookie that felt like
- 29:50Speaker 1: an organizational type of win for the Vikings, Like they
- 29:53Speaker 1: didn't really deserve to win that game, but just like
- 29:56Speaker 1: everything's so buttoned up there. They've been in their program
- 29:59Speaker 1: for four years the are just starting out that they
- 30:01Speaker 1: just like found a way to win. That's what good organizations,
- 30:04Speaker 1: good quote unquote cultures do, And I kind of felt
- 30:07Speaker 1: that way, like the flip side here, that not that
- 30:10Speaker 1: the organizations are at a different spot, but that the
- 30:13Speaker 1: Bears are cleaner. They should have won this game. They
- 30:16Speaker 1: avoided their the big mistakes on offense, and even though
- 30:20Speaker 1: their defense has a long way to go, they ultimately
- 30:24Speaker 1: like had the formula and were the more mature team
- 30:28Speaker 1: and they deserve this split of the Minnesota Vikings to
- 30:30Speaker 1: fall to four and six?
- 30:33Speaker 4: Like, do you know what I love about this?
- 30:35Speaker 6: And it's the last couple of games, and certainly these
- 30:37Speaker 6: these comebacks and these late wins by the Bears so
- 30:41Speaker 6: far this season is in the late moments of these.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Games in crunch time.
- 30:46Speaker 6: No longer are we fully thinking, oh my god, what
- 30:50Speaker 6: creative way are they going.
- 30:52Speaker 1: To lose them?
- 30:53Speaker 6: What horrible thing is about to happen to this football team,
- 30:56Speaker 6: because we saw the range of possibilities last season and
- 31:01Speaker 6: certainly in the cursed years prior to that.
- 31:03Speaker 4: Right, this is different.
- 31:05Speaker 6: This is that feeling where you see your offense take
- 31:09Speaker 6: over again and have a chance to win a football
- 31:12Speaker 6: game and you have that feeling of possibility and of hope.
- 31:16Speaker 6: And I am so happy for Bears fans because that
- 31:20Speaker 6: is so hard to first of all do, but also
- 31:23Speaker 6: to quantify. And it's not mathematical, it just is right.
- 31:26Speaker 6: And they've been missing that it factor and they have
- 31:30Speaker 6: it now and it's beautiful really to watch this takeover
- 31:34Speaker 6: that fan base in that team.
- 31:35Speaker 1: And I want to give Caleb Williams credit, I think
- 31:37Speaker 1: for avoiding big mistakes here. He was really great in
- 31:39Speaker 1: this game avoiding sacks. There was a play where Roma Dunze,
- 31:45Speaker 1: you know, sprints to get a fumble on a play
- 31:48Speaker 1: that they lost fifteen yards, but it was a great
- 31:50Speaker 1: hustle play. It was like one of the best fumble
- 31:51Speaker 1: recoveries of the season, certainly maybe the best. And then
- 31:54Speaker 1: Caleb Rips won for twenty three yards over the middle,
- 31:57Speaker 1: and he had some high level throws like that, but
- 31:59Speaker 1: ultimately like they did move the ball well on offense,
- 32:02Speaker 1: he only completes half his passes for one hundred and
- 32:04Speaker 1: ninety three yards. And that game winning drive that they're
- 32:06Speaker 1: given him credit for, it was from their kick returner,
- 32:09Speaker 1: you know, it was Devin Duverne. Setting that up. Caleb
- 32:12Speaker 1: Williams didn't have to throw a single pass. They just
- 32:14Speaker 1: ran it three straight times. But that's what I like.
- 32:17Speaker 1: It's been different parts of the team stepping up, because
- 32:20Speaker 1: Jordan was saying, like, you're thinking of different catastrophic ways
- 32:24Speaker 1: they could lose this game. If they lost this game,
- 32:26Speaker 1: it would have been catastrophic considering the situation that they
- 32:29Speaker 1: were in sixteen to three heading into the fourth quarter
- 32:33Speaker 1: before JJ McCarthy after a brutal performance doesn't do a
- 32:37Speaker 1: lot in the fourth quarter, but does do enough on
- 32:40Speaker 1: a drive that took the lead late.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it was the run game. They kind of got
- 32:43Speaker 2: them back.
- 32:43Speaker 3: There was the Jordan Mason touchdown before the JJ McCarthy
- 32:47Speaker 3: touchdown to Jordan Addison that gave them the lead. But
- 32:51Speaker 3: the Bears kind of, as you pointed out, avoiding the
- 32:53Speaker 3: mistakes where this was a you know, to say, I
- 32:57Speaker 3: gotta have a game. You know, Brian Flores is going
- 32:59Speaker 3: to be aggressive on defense. Caleb Williams got blitzed on.
- 33:03Speaker 3: He had thirty six drop backs and got blitzed on
- 33:05Speaker 3: twenty four of them. It was the second highest blitz
- 33:08Speaker 3: rate by any defense in a game this season, and
- 33:11Speaker 3: so you know, dealing with that level of pressure in
- 33:15Speaker 3: a close game and managing to take care of the
- 33:18Speaker 3: ball because the Bears offense can be kind of haphazard,
- 33:20Speaker 3: Like a lot of it is Caleb spinning around, breaking
- 33:23Speaker 3: six tackles and spitting and making like dangerous throws down
- 33:27Speaker 3: the sideline to like avoid those mistakes while still playing
- 33:30Speaker 3: in that in that Bear's way. I know there wasn't
- 33:33Speaker 3: a lot of statistical success, but I think we can
- 33:36Speaker 3: take something away.
- 33:37Speaker 1: I agree any he had a big throat a lovelin
- 33:39Speaker 1: at one point there. They were really good when they
- 33:42Speaker 1: needed to be situationally running the ball in short yard situations.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Manunguy's stats look horrible, but he actually had a lot
- 33:48Speaker 1: of successful short yard drunk That dude is an awesome
- 33:50Speaker 1: scron yard dude. DeAndre Swift with with some gate some
- 33:55Speaker 1: good play too on defense. Soough they were just helped
- 33:57Speaker 1: out by JJ McCarthy having a tough one for most
- 34:01Speaker 1: of the game.
- 34:02Speaker 6: I don't tend to laugh, but I'm just remembering. So
- 34:04Speaker 6: Greg and I sit next to each other as we
- 34:06Speaker 6: watch these games, and mostly Patrick's with us. But then
- 34:08Speaker 6: Patrick has to go do live TV for a big
- 34:09Speaker 6: block and the and Greg is a three and a
- 34:12Speaker 6: half hours Yeah, Greg is watching this game, and every
- 34:16Speaker 6: once in a while I'll just hear him go oh JJ.
- 34:20Speaker 1: I mean there was a hilarious Fox moment where they
- 34:23Speaker 1: started showing how much he was struggling and having Brady
- 34:26Speaker 1: explain it. This was maybe Tom Brady's best game I've
- 34:28Speaker 1: ever heard him call. He is getting better and better,
- 34:30Speaker 1: just like literally explaining things and he knows things. I
- 34:33Speaker 1: appreciate it. And he was trying to explain on some
- 34:36Speaker 1: of the misses. One of them was on our with
- 34:38Speaker 1: Todi Nominee, which was early in the game. JJ McCarthy's
- 34:42Speaker 1: miss to Jordan Addison and yet Tom Brady's watching this one.
- 34:47Speaker 1: He's like, yeah, yeah, I don't know what to say
- 34:49Speaker 1: about this one. And then they show another one and
- 34:52Speaker 1: he was just like, yeah, I don't know on this one.
- 34:55Speaker 1: And then the third one he's like, well, I guess
- 34:58Speaker 1: this one needs a little more touch. He was just
- 34:59Speaker 1: trying to find something and JJ McCarthy ultimately is just
- 35:02Speaker 1: like missing throws. A lot of the times, it's just
- 35:05Speaker 1: timing and or accuracy, but like like things are are
- 35:09Speaker 1: not close, it's tough to tell even what receivers.
- 35:12Speaker 2: I can't I can't tell it was we're supposed.
- 35:13Speaker 1: To be to Addison, let's actually listen to McCarthy talking
- 35:17Speaker 1: after the game.
- 35:18Speaker 15: Absolutely sucks, gut wrenching loss for us. You know, got
- 35:22Speaker 15: to give credit to our opponent. They had a great
- 35:24Speaker 15: game plan. They played really well in all three phases.
- 35:26Speaker 15: And I need to do a better job of my
- 35:28Speaker 15: decision making. The accuracy it needs to change. I need
- 35:31Speaker 15: to be better and overall executional offense. I need to
- 35:34Speaker 15: be better on just you know, doing my job at
- 35:37Speaker 15: a higher level.
- 35:38Speaker 2: So I'll open it up to any.
- 35:39Speaker 12: Questions, JJ, why do you think your accuracy.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Is so offering?
- 35:44Speaker 2: Things?
- 35:45Speaker 15: Just growing At the end of the day, you know,
- 35:47Speaker 15: there's a lot of things that I have to improve on,
- 35:50Speaker 15: and accuracy is one of them. And I promise you
- 35:52Speaker 15: I'm going to wake up tomorrow and get ready to
- 35:54Speaker 15: go to get working on that.
- 35:58Speaker 3: Yeah, under some pressure in the game, a lot of
- 36:01Speaker 3: those throws from clean pockets. I can't think of a
- 36:04Speaker 3: more pressure situation than like, hey man, why do you
- 36:07Speaker 3: spraying the ball all over the field? Minutes after he
- 36:09Speaker 3: came in. Didn't even give him a question, and he's
- 36:11Speaker 3: just like, hey, guys, yeah, I played bad, and then
- 36:13Speaker 3: the first question is why did you play so bad?
- 36:16Speaker 6: Like woo, he was only under pressure on twenty one
- 36:18Speaker 6: point ninety percent drop backs, Guys, like whoa.
- 36:22Speaker 1: That was the takeaway for me. Where the conditions where
- 36:24Speaker 1: I ideal, the receivers were open, the protection protection was great.
- 36:28Speaker 1: And I always repeat myself that, like the first the
- 36:32Speaker 1: thing you have to pass first to be an NFL
- 36:34Speaker 1: quarterback is like, if the protection is good, can you
- 36:38Speaker 1: look good? Because that's like that's the bar, Like a
- 36:41Speaker 1: good backup at at least is doing that like Blake
- 36:44Speaker 1: Bortles if the protection was good was like maybe maybe,
- 36:48Speaker 1: maybe not, you know what I mean? Like that, that's
- 36:50Speaker 1: the bar, like it you have to make those plays work,
- 36:54Speaker 1: and he didn't. It was chaotic. He was a negative
- 36:57Speaker 1: fifteen in terms of completion percentage under expected, and yet
- 37:00Speaker 1: he did do kind of the JJ McCarthy thing where
- 37:04Speaker 1: they needed a touchdown drive at the end of the game,
- 37:06Speaker 1: and then he did make some good throws.
- 37:09Speaker 5: First intent from the Bears fifteen Addison in motion to
- 37:12Speaker 5: the left, takes a snap.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Now a four man rush McCarthy to the end zone.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Person justinn at.
- 37:25Speaker 5: Your time they were tied Cat sixteen. JJ McCarthy done.
- 37:35Speaker 1: I had a feeling that would be a rousing one because, yeah,
- 37:38Speaker 1: you just did not feel like the Vikings were going
- 37:40Speaker 1: to come back in that game. And now it's it's
- 37:43Speaker 1: gonna be one of them. We'll talk about it during
- 37:44Speaker 1: the week, but it's gonna be one of the more
- 37:45Speaker 1: challenging weeks. I think of the koc Era then falling
- 37:49Speaker 1: to four and six and feeling quite out of this
- 37:51Speaker 1: division race.
- 37:52Speaker 2: But I mean the positives that you can take.
- 37:55Speaker 3: They're in the game, they cover the kick better, they
- 37:57Speaker 3: have a chance to win, and the protection was good
- 37:59Speaker 3: for JAJ McCarthy and the receivers were open. There's a
- 38:03Speaker 3: path for it to improve. I just got to go
- 38:06Speaker 3: out there and do it well.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Said. Let's go to Jacksonville, where the most messy fun
- 38:13Speaker 1: team in the league was kind of losing the NFL
- 38:16Speaker 1: daily support over the last not for me.
- 38:19Speaker 16: Let's listen six cheats play on the drive hundred center
- 38:24Speaker 16: as Trevor fake to talk.
- 38:26Speaker 1: They told to the back of the handle, good for
- 38:28Speaker 1: the touchdown, but quite.
- 38:30Speaker 14: Think Tim Paftrick in the back of the handle the
- 38:32Speaker 14: one yard touchdown pass.
- 38:34Speaker 1: They even extended the lead. How good is that? It
- 38:39Speaker 1: was great? Everything about the Jaguars was great. A completely
- 38:45Speaker 1: dominant effort by the Jaguars defense helps them win thirty
- 38:49Speaker 1: five to six Jordan, in a game where our friend
- 38:53Speaker 1: Aaron Shots of FTN noted there was more playoff leverage
- 38:58Speaker 1: in this game than any game all season long. The Jaguars,
- 39:02Speaker 1: now with the win, you know, have a better than
- 39:04Speaker 1: fifty to fifty chance to make the playoffs. If they
- 39:05Speaker 1: had loss, they were buried under twenty percent. Meanwhile, like
- 39:09Speaker 1: the Chargers, it's a loss that hurts them and they
- 39:12Speaker 1: happily get to their bye week.
- 39:14Speaker 6: Streets are saying, Liam Cohen owns, Jesse Minter. You know
- 39:18Speaker 6: that Tim Patrick touchdown capped one of the most impressive
- 39:21Speaker 6: Jacksonville Jaguars drives I have seen in literally years. Sixteen plays,
- 39:27Speaker 6: nine minutes and eighteen seconds, a touchdown spanning between the
- 39:30Speaker 6: third and the fourth quarters, and that put the Jaguars
- 39:33Speaker 6: up twenty eight to six. This offense ran the hell
- 39:36Speaker 6: out of the ball all game behind Baseiel Tutan, who
- 39:39Speaker 6: did leave with an ankle injury there's no update on
- 39:41Speaker 6: that yet, and Travis Etn. They both combined together specifically
- 39:45Speaker 6: for one hundred and forty seven yards, three touchdowns, and
- 39:48Speaker 6: force thirteen misstackles by this Chargers defense the entire game.
- 39:53Speaker 6: The Jaguars finished with one hundred and ninety two net
- 39:55Speaker 6: rushing yards and the Chargers could barely get the ball back,
- 39:58Speaker 6: let alone put together an things sustainable on offense. By
- 40:02Speaker 6: the time Trey Lance took over, with about ten minutes
- 40:06Speaker 6: left in the game, the Jaguars up thirty five to six.
- 40:09Speaker 6: The Chargers had four net yards of second half offense
- 40:13Speaker 6: one hundred and four net yards total, and Jacksonville had
- 40:17Speaker 6: had thirty minutes over thirty minutes of possession to that point.
- 40:21Speaker 1: It's crazy. This was the third worst offensive performance by
- 40:24Speaker 1: any team in the NFL this year, according to Shilcopatia.
- 40:28Speaker 1: That's EPBA per play one hundred and thirty five yards overall.
- 40:31Speaker 1: That's bottom five just in terms of total yard It's
- 40:34Speaker 1: a surprise because the Jaguars past us hasn't been great lately.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Let's listen to certainly their best player having a big
- 40:42Speaker 1: moment third down and ten.
- 40:45Speaker 16: Jags have six defensive aces in the game.
- 40:47Speaker 2: They got that extra safety and Rayon Lane in the game.
- 40:50Speaker 16: Shotgun dropping is Justin Herber four man rush, scrambles away,
- 40:56Speaker 16: he gets.
- 40:56Speaker 8: Hit, He's gonna get sacked.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Josh HAIs Allen got up.
- 40:59Speaker 14: Thirds back of the day for Jacksonville, back at the
- 41:02Speaker 14: twenty eight yard line.
- 41:03Speaker 5: Now, after that sack, Josh just set the franchise career
- 41:08Speaker 5: record for sacks.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Congratulations to Josh Pine Palace. Oh, very cool. An unsung
- 41:14Speaker 1: hero for many years, and I know this year has
- 41:16Speaker 1: been frustrated for him because he has been near the
- 41:18Speaker 1: top of the league in pressure rate and doesn't have
- 41:21Speaker 1: many sacks to show for it. And he gets it
- 41:23Speaker 1: in a day. They were just dominant. Like what did
- 41:24Speaker 1: this look like from the Jaguars defense?
- 41:26Speaker 6: Yeah, this was cool. So having Devin Lloyd back was
- 41:29Speaker 6: so crucial for them. You could just tell that everybody
- 41:31Speaker 6: feels more comfortable and more aggressive. Anthony Campanelli, the defensive coordinator,
- 41:35Speaker 6: can can call more things, can be a little bit
- 41:38Speaker 6: mix things up a little bit more in terms of
- 41:40Speaker 6: what he wants to do with this pressure. They made
- 41:42Speaker 6: splash plays in bunches. Josh heinz Allen. You showed the
- 41:47Speaker 6: sack that he had just now he got to Justin
- 41:49Speaker 6: Herbert twice once on a first down and then on
- 41:51Speaker 6: the third and long they had their they got their
- 41:54Speaker 6: hands on the ball.
- 41:55Speaker 4: It was really fortuitous for.
- 41:56Speaker 6: Jacksonville in for guys like Trailon and all over this
- 42:01Speaker 6: defense who had a great game that they were going
- 42:04Speaker 6: up against one of the more depleted and just questionable
- 42:09Speaker 6: offensive lines in the NFL. Trevor Penning started at left tackle.
- 42:14Speaker 6: He got benched after that second that franchise record setting
- 42:18Speaker 6: play that heinz Allen made after giving up five pressures
- 42:22Speaker 6: in a sack. And then they put in Austin deculs.
- 42:25Speaker 4: Declass at left tackle.
- 42:28Speaker 6: You know, it just was And then at that point
- 42:30Speaker 6: Justin Herbert started to press He threw one of the
- 42:32Speaker 6: most non Justin Herberty interceptions you will ever see because
- 42:36Speaker 6: he just he started trying to go into hero ball
- 42:39Speaker 6: mode and he had no protection. I don't think I've
- 42:42Speaker 6: ever seen a left tackle a team just traded for
- 42:45Speaker 6: benched that quickly in a game. It was it was
- 42:48Speaker 6: not good because it was it wasn't just and it
- 42:51Speaker 6: and he and it was isoed too. He was single
- 42:53Speaker 6: one on one against the pass rush, and it wasn't
- 42:56Speaker 6: just that the pressures that he allowed were just like, oh,
- 42:59Speaker 6: pressures you know one dropbacks.
- 43:01Speaker 4: They were not only were they.
- 43:02Speaker 6: Quick pressures, but they were bad pressures where he was
- 43:05Speaker 6: getting pushed all the.
- 43:06Speaker 4: Way backward into Justin Herbert.
- 43:08Speaker 6: I mean, it was so confounding to me, with all
- 43:11Speaker 6: the massive human beings that they have as chippers on
- 43:15Speaker 6: this offense, why it was so iso for Trevor Penning
- 43:19Speaker 6: and then he just got yanked, like they just pulled him.
- 43:21Speaker 3: Yeah, and perhaps it's you know, feeling yourself a little
- 43:25Speaker 3: a little too much where they make the odafe O
- 43:27Speaker 3: way trade and it works out, and they go into
- 43:30Speaker 3: last week where I didn't pick the Chargers because I'm thinking, oh,
- 43:33Speaker 3: they're relying on Trevor Pinning.
- 43:35Speaker 2: That can't be good.
- 43:36Speaker 3: And he doesn't play us now in his first game
- 43:38Speaker 3: with the Chargers, and I'm thinking, okay, so they don't
- 43:41Speaker 3: need Trevor Pinning. Then I look up and they're playing horrible.
- 43:44Speaker 3: I'm asking George, like, is that Trevor Pinning. She's like, yeah,
- 43:47Speaker 3: he just got back.
- 43:47Speaker 4: I said not anymore.
- 43:48Speaker 1: I couldn't tell because I was sitting next to Jordan,
- 43:51Speaker 1: as we've established, and there was a lot of oh, Trevor,
- 43:54Speaker 1: but it actually was both Trevor scept for a little
- 43:56Speaker 1: while and you were like Trevor and I just didn't know.
- 43:58Speaker 1: There was not a great game.
- 43:59Speaker 6: For now, not a good Trevor day, good like it was.
- 44:03Speaker 6: Trevor Lawrence is at times infuriating to watch. I'll just
- 44:07Speaker 6: say that, like I've been, I've been on this rock
- 44:10Speaker 6: for a while, but it is. He made his dumb
- 44:14Speaker 6: mistakes early, which really helped out the Jaguars because they
- 44:17Speaker 6: completely dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides awesome,
- 44:20Speaker 6: and that is what made the difference in this game.
- 44:22Speaker 6: And he just sort of like just let go behind
- 44:25Speaker 6: him honestly, Like I don't want to call him a
- 44:27Speaker 6: game manager. He made some nice throws, but like he
- 44:29Speaker 6: really he really just let the game go honestly, after
- 44:32Speaker 6: making a couple of mistakes early, like the worst outbreaking
- 44:36Speaker 6: throw I've ever freaking seen in my entire life that
- 44:39Speaker 6: was too slow and thrown to the defenders inside leverage
- 44:44Speaker 6: versus outside shoulder of the of the guy running the route,
- 44:47Speaker 6: and Dante Jackson picks it off and at that point
- 44:49Speaker 6: I'm like, are you kidding me right now? Like that seriously,
- 44:53Speaker 6: and it was this it was a slow throw, put
- 44:55Speaker 6: some juice on it. Man, like JJ McCarthy at least
- 44:58Speaker 6: has ripping these these passes, you know, and I.
- 45:01Speaker 3: Think it's resulted in Liam Cohen. You know, they did
- 45:04Speaker 3: run the ball great. The most routes ram was Parker
- 45:07Speaker 3: Washington ran twenty routes today.
- 45:08Speaker 4: Yeah, he's special.
- 45:09Speaker 3: Like that's it in terms of the Jacksonville Jacks passing offense,
- 45:13Speaker 3: like Trevor has twenty two attempts where the you know,
- 45:17Speaker 3: he had the straight tebow power rushing touchdown, but like
- 45:22Speaker 3: it's kind of got hidden by.
- 45:24Speaker 2: Cohen in the offense in this game where they they
- 45:27Speaker 2: scored thirty five.
- 45:28Speaker 1: This was this was a bad result I think for
- 45:30Speaker 1: the Chiefs and the Steelers Slash Ravens and the teams
- 45:34Speaker 1: that are trying to sneak into the back half of
- 45:37Speaker 1: the playoffs. Because the Jaguars schedule one of the reasons
- 45:39Speaker 1: their percentage to make the playoffs it's so high even
- 45:41Speaker 1: though they're not great, is like it's it's pretty favorable
- 45:45Speaker 1: down the stretch. So to get a win like this,
- 45:47Speaker 1: by the way, since they fell down, I think it
- 45:48Speaker 1: was twenty seven nothing in the playoff game in Jacksonville,
- 45:52Speaker 1: they have outscored the Chargers I know that was a
- 45:54Speaker 1: long time ago, and many coaches ago sixty six to nine.
- 45:58Speaker 1: That's what you deserve when you play Trevor Petty left tackle.
- 46:00Speaker 1: He wasn't. You don't think the Saints would have played
- 46:03Speaker 1: him there if they could have. I mean, he was
- 46:04Speaker 1: struggling at guard. All right, Let's go to uh met
- 46:07Speaker 1: life for a fun one in the shotgun. Winston looks
- 46:11Speaker 1: it over. Here's the snap. Winston shuts throws left side
- 46:15Speaker 1: of the end. Soon shot dad shut that by the killed.
- 46:20Speaker 5: Oh, Evan Williams the levers in the left corner of
- 46:24Speaker 5: the ends and the Packers.
- 46:27Speaker 1: To lover the dagger. Oh, it's the dagger. But it
- 46:32Speaker 1: wasn't exactly the dagger because they did get the ball
- 46:34Speaker 1: back for one last play where Micah Parsons gets a
- 46:37Speaker 1: strip sack on Jamis Winston. A thrilling and I would
- 46:42Speaker 1: say to a well played football game, they got the
- 46:44Speaker 1: fired coach bounce. I thought Mike Kafka had a good game.
- 46:48Speaker 1: They were up for the challenge. This thing was back
- 46:50Speaker 1: and forth, but the Packers win twenty seven to twenty.
- 46:53Speaker 1: And I know there will be a lot of complaining
- 46:55Speaker 1: about why do the Packers play with their food. The
- 46:59Speaker 1: Giants had a lot of low percentage plays, especially passing
- 47:02Speaker 1: the ball that they hit, and I want to give
- 47:04Speaker 1: Jordan Love credit. First of all, this was one of
- 47:08Speaker 1: the best games of his career, which is crazy because
- 47:10Speaker 1: at the end of the game I looked and it
- 47:12Speaker 1: was one hundred and seventy four yards and it's one
- 47:13Speaker 1: of those you gotta watch it because because he had
- 47:17Speaker 1: six or seven incredible plays. They only had seven possessions
- 47:21Speaker 1: in this game, so putting up four touchdowns in seven
- 47:24Speaker 1: possessions is excellent. His air yards was over twelve and
- 47:27Speaker 1: a half. A lot of his throws were tight window
- 47:29Speaker 1: throws where he almost was passing up on those short
- 47:32Speaker 1: throws that might have been available, but he hit him
- 47:34Speaker 1: down the field. There were a number of drops that
- 47:37Speaker 1: went against him. Josh Jacobs got hurt early in this
- 47:40Speaker 1: game did not return after halftime. They did not run
- 47:43Speaker 1: the ball particularly well, and I thought Love was really
- 47:47Speaker 1: up for the challenge with great plays. Let's actually watch
- 47:50Speaker 1: one of them to one of two Christian Watson touchdowns,
- 47:53Speaker 1: and they both were great plays by the receivers.
- 47:57Speaker 16: Green Bank treading guy one gun snapped the Lovey bobble
- 48:01Speaker 16: for a moment option right side of.
- 48:02Speaker 14: The end soun site to catch Christian Watson mile mile mile.
- 48:12Speaker 11: Same they beat Corey Black and Christian Watson used.
- 48:17Speaker 8: Every bit of his six four frame to go.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Up and grab that one. Y know, Christian Watson is
- 48:22Speaker 1: he is the difference, Like he makes such a difference
- 48:24Speaker 1: because we were watching the Malik Willis drive justin uh,
- 48:29Speaker 1: rather Jordan Love gets hurt early in this game, has
- 48:32Speaker 1: to get an injury checked out for a drive in.
- 48:35Speaker 1: Malik Willis plays incredible and Christian Watson makes maybe an
- 48:38Speaker 1: even better catch on the Malik Willis touchdown throw which
- 48:41Speaker 1: is also so a great catch. So Watson has made
- 48:44Speaker 1: a huge difference since returning.
- 48:45Speaker 3: Yeah, it was Malik Willis roll into his right and
- 48:47Speaker 3: you're not sure, like who's he gonna throw the ball to.
- 48:49Speaker 3: He fires a missile at Christian Watson comes who comes
- 48:53Speaker 3: back a little bit to make that grab, and you
- 48:55Speaker 3: see like a couple of flashes there of roster construction
- 48:58Speaker 3: on the way that it works where they're able to
- 49:01Speaker 3: get Christian Watson. He comes back from the ACL injury,
- 49:05Speaker 3: looks great in his first game back, where normally, like
- 49:08Speaker 3: you worry about a guy in this situation, like, he's not.
- 49:13Speaker 3: I'm sure he'll tell you right, he's not one hundred
- 49:16Speaker 3: percent there because it's kind of physically impossible to be
- 49:19Speaker 3: at this point while playing tackle football. But he's he's
- 49:23Speaker 3: able to make these plays, and to have a quarterback
- 49:26Speaker 3: like Malik Willis, who Matt Lafleur trusts, I think he
- 49:30Speaker 3: might like calling plays a.
- 49:31Speaker 1: Little bit more. They ran the ball incredibly in the
- 49:34Speaker 1: one Malik Willis drive, including a third and long run
- 49:37Speaker 1: by Malik Willis which was a design run. Like he
- 49:40Speaker 1: started breaking out the good stuff right away, and I
- 49:41Speaker 1: started thinking, oh man, this is going to be rough
- 49:44Speaker 1: for the conversation, but then responded.
- 49:46Speaker 6: Phil, Mom and Dad, lick your bottle back up with
- 49:49Speaker 6: water and put the cap on really tight.
- 49:51Speaker 4: Put it back so nobody ever knows. Put the good
- 49:54Speaker 4: stuff away again, you know.
- 49:56Speaker 1: And if Josh Jacobs is out for a while, like,
- 49:59Speaker 1: we'll see, because that is a dude that plays through injuries,
- 50:02Speaker 1: I think as much as anyone. And he returned from
- 50:04Speaker 1: this injury at first wasn't quite the same when it
- 50:07Speaker 1: was Emmanuel Wilson out there. But yeah, well before we
- 50:09Speaker 1: go to the giant side, there was also a great
- 50:12Speaker 1: Jordan Love throw to saveon Williams that I did want
- 50:15Speaker 1: to highlight too. I don't know if it's a Throw
- 50:17Speaker 1: of the Year nominee or anything like that, but if
- 50:19Speaker 1: you're watching it again, it was on that touchdown drive late.
- 50:22Speaker 1: He had all the time in the world Jordan Love,
- 50:24Speaker 1: and he just does what Jordan Love does well while
- 50:27Speaker 1: under total pressure, throws it in the bucket. He is
- 50:29Speaker 1: a fun dude to.
- 50:29Speaker 2: Watch when you put the Jordan Love real on.
- 50:32Speaker 3: Yeah, all of these throws that he makes are all
- 50:35Speaker 3: fade aways. Yeah, Like he's not stepping into any of them,
- 50:39Speaker 3: and it almost feels like like you can see Jordan
- 50:41Speaker 3: Love in his body language before he does this, so
- 50:43Speaker 3: he's like watch this, and he throws this leaning back
- 50:46Speaker 3: ball where I think one of those other touchdowns was
- 50:49Speaker 3: a fade away as well.
- 50:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Michael Parsons in this game has seven quick pressures,
- 50:54Speaker 1: nine pressures overall, two sacks, four total quarterback hits. He
- 50:58Speaker 1: was awesome, But Jamis played really well. They got rid
- 51:00Speaker 1: of the ball pretty quickly. The offensive line, I thought
- 51:03Speaker 1: for the Giants played well and kind of won that
- 51:05Speaker 1: battle for the most part. They ran hard. He just
- 51:08Speaker 1: gave them a chance. It's why I don't kill the
- 51:09Speaker 1: Packers too much, because a lot of these plays were
- 51:13Speaker 1: like tough screens where they evade a lot of tacklers,
- 51:16Speaker 1: maybe they could have tackled better, or like third window
- 51:19Speaker 1: throws to Jamis Winston. The one thing I would, you know,
- 51:21Speaker 1: go against the Packers defense was they got to catch
- 51:23Speaker 1: the interceptions that Jamis tries to throw them, which did
- 51:26Speaker 1: happen a couple times.
- 51:27Speaker 4: I don't, I just don't.
- 51:28Speaker 6: I also don't think people understand quite how difficult it
- 51:31Speaker 6: is to go against a play caller who you've basically
- 51:35Speaker 6: have no tape on, Like a little bit sure, and
- 51:37Speaker 6: then maybe like some intel from the Senior Bowl or
- 51:40Speaker 6: something that he that Keofka.
- 51:41Speaker 4: Coached, But yeah, it is so difficult.
- 51:44Speaker 6: It is such a tendency breaker, but for your entire
- 51:47Speaker 6: game plan. So I am not surprised to see them
- 51:50Speaker 6: struggle a little bit. I think that's an outlier after
- 51:52Speaker 6: we've seen this defense improve significantly and obviously they're deploying
- 51:56Speaker 6: parsons the way that they should be, and it's incredible
- 51:59Speaker 6: to watch he he the place he made today is
- 52:01Speaker 6: the reason, especially late in the game, is the reason
- 52:03Speaker 6: you go out and trade for a guy.
- 52:04Speaker 1: Absolutely, especially on a day where they couldn't stop the
- 52:07Speaker 1: run very well. I did think Kafka provided a little
- 52:09Speaker 1: bit of a bump. It all seemed a little more cohesive,
- 52:11Speaker 1: especially the run was good.
- 52:13Speaker 4: But pretty closely was.
- 52:15Speaker 3: On the late GDL today with Mark Ross, who, of
- 52:18Speaker 3: course you know, was was a part of those Giants
- 52:20Speaker 3: teams that won Super Bowl, so he's very familiar with
- 52:22Speaker 3: the team and instantly when he saw that Jamis interception,
- 52:26Speaker 3: he's like, that's why Jalen Hyatt doesn't play a lot
- 52:29Speaker 3: of football.
- 52:29Speaker 1: Yep.
- 52:29Speaker 3: And that's probably an indictment of you know, coach Kafka
- 52:33Speaker 3: figured things out.
- 52:34Speaker 2: But also the injuries to Darius Slayton.
- 52:36Speaker 3: I think like Wandell left for a couple of plays
- 52:39Speaker 3: in this game where really the options were very limited
- 52:42Speaker 3: for the Giants. Like I imagine if Darius Slayton is
- 52:45Speaker 3: in that position of Jalen Hyatt, we maybe having a
- 52:48Speaker 3: different conversation.
- 52:49Speaker 1: The leading receiver every key third down conversion was by
- 52:51Speaker 1: Isaiah Hodgens, who has been buried on the Depth Star
- 52:54Speaker 1: all season. But I'm glad you pointed it out because
- 52:57Speaker 1: justice for Jamis. That was totally Hyatt heaving up on
- 53:00Speaker 1: a route was totally befuddling because he was supposed to
- 53:03Speaker 1: go to the outside there. But it was kind of
- 53:05Speaker 1: ironic because Jamis did throw two or three into the
- 53:08Speaker 1: Packers chest earlier, so he got caught. Eventually. Let's go
- 53:11Speaker 1: with the Packers winning that game, and it's staying, you know,
- 53:14Speaker 1: very much in the mix in the NFC North in
- 53:16Speaker 1: the NFC Wildcard to Atlanta, where the Panthers are trying
- 53:20Speaker 1: to stay alive.
- 53:24Speaker 2: Jung the staff has time rose to Tremble makes the
- 53:27Speaker 2: catch of the.
- 53:27Speaker 10: Thirty five sticked off forty has ruled.
- 53:30Speaker 17: There goes Tommy down the right side on across midfield.
- 53:32Speaker 2: He's got the thirty, the twenty Tommy Tremble.
- 53:36Speaker 3: Tommy Tremble with the thunder all the way to the
- 53:41Speaker 3: sixteen yard line.
- 53:44Speaker 1: Oh and you got a name like Tommy Tremble. You
- 53:48Speaker 1: bring the thunder fifty three yards in overtime. The Panthers
- 53:53Speaker 1: win thirty to twenty seven. That was any shrof on
- 53:57Speaker 1: w r F X Bryce Young on a day where
- 54:02Speaker 1: they couldn't run the ball at all. Patrick He finishes
- 54:06Speaker 1: with four hundred and forty eight yards three touchdowns, and yes,
- 54:11Speaker 1: gets the ball to tremble there to set up the
- 54:13Speaker 1: game winning field goal.
- 54:14Speaker 3: And it's a franchise recorded erases that Cam Newton Week
- 54:19Speaker 3: two game against the Green Bay Packers in twenty eleven.
- 54:23Speaker 2: It was rookie season, Cam.
- 54:24Speaker 1: Second game of his career, four hundred and thirty two
- 54:26Speaker 1: passing yards.
- 54:27Speaker 3: Forget about all that Panthers fans, because Bryce did it.
- 54:30Speaker 3: And actually we can look back at the game.
- 54:32Speaker 4: One quarter of the side.
- 54:34Speaker 3: Yeah, we can look back at the game, the thirty
- 54:37Speaker 3: to zhering game as an aberration because now three of
- 54:41Speaker 3: the last four times the Carolina Panthers have played the
- 54:43Speaker 3: Atlanta Falcons, the game has gone too overtime. And it
- 54:47Speaker 3: was just a crazy sequence in this game between a
- 54:51Speaker 3: twenty five year old quarterback and a twenty four year
- 54:53Speaker 3: old quarterback where the long term viability was both on
- 54:56Speaker 3: the line Jordan according to our dear friend Greg Rosenthal,
- 54:59Speaker 3: and they started off without having okay.
- 55:01Speaker 1: Drugs whole rest of the season. But this is a
- 55:03Speaker 1: big game setting that up in football, it was big
- 55:07Speaker 1: whole rest of the season.
- 55:08Speaker 2: There's give and take a big this was nice.
- 55:11Speaker 3: So on one of the opening possessions, Panthers go for
- 55:14Speaker 3: very aggressive Dave of Canalis throughout this game. Four from two,
- 55:17Speaker 3: they get twenty one yards to get they later on
- 55:19Speaker 3: get a tenor Roll McMillan touchdown. The Panthers were up
- 55:22Speaker 3: early and then it was the twenty twenty five Falcons
- 55:24Speaker 3: a drive that was exclusively Michael Pennock Junior to Drake
- 55:28Speaker 3: London other than Bejon going in from four yards out.
- 55:31Speaker 3: Later in the game, after it's tied seven to seven,
- 55:34Speaker 3: Panthers get the ball and you see the bad Panthers
- 55:37Speaker 3: offense where Bryce sees Billy Bowman indicating pressure early on
- 55:42Speaker 3: in the play clock makes a check and I'm not
- 55:45Speaker 3: sure what happened. Either the protection slid the wrong way
- 55:48Speaker 3: or Bryce forgot about Billy Bowman. Either way, he hits
- 55:54Speaker 3: Bryce and he leave the game. Andy Dalton comes in briefly.
- 55:59Speaker 3: Bryce come back thankfully and goes on to have this
- 56:02Speaker 3: legendary game. And then on the other side, Michael Pennock Jr.
- 56:06Speaker 3: Leaves this game with a knee injury, and so you
- 56:08Speaker 3: get Kirk Cousins and when Pennix leaves the game, the
- 56:11Speaker 3: Falcons actually have the lead and they get like I
- 56:15Speaker 3: think two first downs with Kirk Cousins at quarterback, and
- 56:19Speaker 3: I said it as soon as Pennis.
- 56:20Speaker 1: Went the whole rest of the game, Yeah.
- 56:23Speaker 2: It was. It was a rough performance.
- 56:25Speaker 3: If I'll give you the specific stats as to not,
- 56:28Speaker 3: you know, be smirch the Atlanta Falcons in their offense.
- 56:33Speaker 1: Yeah, the field goal drive that they had before the
- 56:36Speaker 1: one that tied it up late was only a four
- 56:39Speaker 1: to play five yard drive, So you had two field.
- 56:42Speaker 2: Goals on five drives for Kirk Cousins.
- 56:45Speaker 3: He's got no passing touchdowns on fifty two attempts and
- 56:48Speaker 3: in coming in relief of Michael Pennock Junior, and the
- 56:51Speaker 3: Panthers avoid those big mistakes. They're able to get the
- 56:55Speaker 3: plays that they need. And the Falcons when they didn't
- 56:58Speaker 3: get pressure on Bryce Young, he was pretty automatic in
- 57:01Speaker 3: terms of the way this past game operated. Hit Laget
- 57:04Speaker 3: on a big touchdown where you know the career viability
- 57:07Speaker 3: of Bryce Young.
- 57:08Speaker 2: Greg goes bout, I deserve it.
- 57:10Speaker 1: I deserve it. I deserve it.
- 57:14Speaker 6: I saw Greg was out here projecting him onto his
- 57:18Speaker 6: next team.
- 57:18Speaker 1: Tweet not we still got the rest of the season go,
- 57:21Speaker 1: but this, Yeah, these are the type of games. And
- 57:22Speaker 1: I saw a tweet that called Bryce Young selectively elite,
- 57:25Speaker 1: which I thought was perfect because when you watch Bryce
- 57:28Speaker 1: Young on the right day and the right throws like
- 57:30Speaker 1: he looks incredible. But it's it hasn't been consistent enough
- 57:34Speaker 1: this season. You mentioned, you know, Pennix left the game.
- 57:37Speaker 1: Afterwards they said it was his left knee. It was
- 57:41Speaker 1: a strange comment from Raheem Morris. He said he could
- 57:44Speaker 1: have possibly gone back in, but also like it didn't
- 57:49Speaker 1: look great, so they wanted to stick with Kirk Cousins.
- 57:54Speaker 1: Uh there, and then Drake London who also went out
- 57:56Speaker 1: in overtime. The Falcons got the ball first and they
- 58:00Speaker 1: went three and out, but then London, you know, re
- 58:03Speaker 1: had a reinjury and then they declared amount It's reportedly
- 58:06Speaker 1: not serious according to Ian Rapaport, so that is some
- 58:09Speaker 1: small good news for the Falcons. Who remember Jordan were
- 58:14Speaker 1: once three and two this season with a prime time
- 58:16Speaker 1: win over the Buffalo Bills, and it has been a
- 58:20Speaker 1: nightmare since then, five straight losses.
- 58:23Speaker 6: It feels like many many years ago that we were
- 58:26Speaker 6: celebrating not just how awesome this Falcons team looked against
- 58:30Speaker 6: the Bills, but just how complete of an attack on
- 58:33Speaker 6: both sides of the ball. It looked like and you
- 58:36Speaker 6: said it first of all when you said inconsistent, that
- 58:39Speaker 6: is the Falcons, and they fluctuate. Their highs are getting
- 58:44Speaker 6: lower and their lows are getting lower as well. And
- 58:47Speaker 6: I think especially when you factor in injuries and then
- 58:49Speaker 6: you hit on a two and you said the injury
- 58:52Speaker 6: is not serious, well, that also describes this Falcons team.
- 58:54Speaker 6: They're not serious to me, this is an unserious football team.
- 58:57Speaker 6: You are not serious people.
- 59:00Speaker 2: I mean Pennix left the game.
- 59:01Speaker 3: He was thirteen to sixteen with one hundred and seventy
- 59:03Speaker 3: five passing, facilitating in an offense that had scored twenty
- 59:06Speaker 3: one points to that, and I think he stays in
- 59:11Speaker 3: the game, goes to overtime anyway, with Kirk Cousins and
- 59:15Speaker 3: the offense essentially doing nothing taking advantage of some Panthers
- 59:18Speaker 3: mistakes where I this, this is a game where the
- 59:23Speaker 3: quarterback gets hurt. Yeah, and like ten points combined, and
- 59:27Speaker 3: the last three losses for the Atlanta Falcons where like
- 59:30Speaker 3: I know, like horseshoes and hand grenades and all that,
- 59:32Speaker 3: and you'd like to get some wins, but.
- 59:34Speaker 1: Back to back overtime losses. But they were finding different
- 59:37Speaker 1: types of wastelews. They also, you know, got blown out
- 59:39Speaker 1: by the Dolphins and weren't particularly competitive with the forty
- 59:42Speaker 1: nine ers. So it's like they're they're finding many different ways.
- 59:44Speaker 1: And I yet have to watch it closer to know this,
- 59:47Speaker 1: but they held Rico Daudo to a twenty five percent
- 59:50Speaker 1: success rate at least the Panthers as a team, So
- 59:52Speaker 1: it's almost like they were they were Darren Bryce to
- 59:55Speaker 1: beat him and they didn't do it. And Bryce, look,
- 59:58Speaker 1: he's cool under pressure and and he's a guy who
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: like is going to deliver when asked, just like our
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: friend Patrick Claybon. And I gotta think, like Patrick Claybon
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: was making if you're watching our show on YouTube, this
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: kind of motion, this kind of look, oh my gosh
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: when Bryce Young hit that touchdown late in the game,
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: and yes this is a Game Day live promo. Where
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: can you describe it? Patrick, You're pointing at the camera
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: and you're a little mischievous.
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: I am I'm an awkward person. When I am taking
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: I have no idea to do what to do with
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: my hands, and the person stands there and they just
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: keep clicking the button, and I'm.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: Like, what am I supposed to do and.
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: So like I point collectively elite.
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: Yeah, and this is the picture that they choose to
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: go on the graphic. And like Steve Smith Senior is
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: standing there all prim and proper, proper, Mark Ross, who
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: is the most fashionable man in America, is adjusting, you know, the.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: The bottom of his shirt.
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: And Rhett looks great, and for some reason, this goofy
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: jerk is pointing at it.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: I love it both fingers.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: I love it every minute. And I'd like to imagine
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: that that's the look that Patrick Gate when Bryce Young
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: found Tetuoa McMillan late in the fourth quarter. Let's take
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: a break by listening to this call and we'll be
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: back on the other side with a little NFC West Magic.
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: Fifteen on the clock, got third and goal from the twelve.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: Young looking around, looking you'll take off to the run.
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: Now Crows two the end zone.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: McMillan left corner.
- 1:01:35Speaker 14: MAT's the catch, touchdown, Carolina, touchdown, Carolina.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: First and goal from the four.
- 1:01:42Speaker 12: Let him finish this drive back to back big plays
- 1:01:45Speaker 12: from cmc under center, purty toss play to McCaffrey to
- 1:01:49Speaker 12: the right side, cuts back left, leaves his way into
- 1:01:52Speaker 12: the end zone. Not once, not twice, but thrice for
- 1:01:56Speaker 12: McCaffrey touchdown forty nine ers.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: I feel like we haven't heard Justin Allegri too often
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: over the years. Must be a backup there on knbr
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: and he's stepping up in a big spot. And so
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: did the forty nine ers today, forty one to twenty
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: two on a record setting day for Jacoby Brissett. Congratulations
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: to Jacoby Brissett, who broke a real deal record that
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: had stood for over thirty years. Jacoby Brissett completed more
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: passes in an NFL football game than anyone has in
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: any game ever, forty seven out of fifty seven for
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: Brissett for four to fifty two. And yet they were
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: not competitive for most of this game, really any of
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: this game. A lot of good signs for the forty
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: nine ers before we get to the Cardinals side of it.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: I think you heard it there in the call with CMC.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: It was almost like after they didn't use him a
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: ton for one week, he had more juice. Just thought
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: he ran with better aggression. And maybe it was the
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: lanes were opening up, but I thought he was great today.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: I thought George Kittle had a little more juice than
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: we've seen, certainly as a receiver six for sixty seven
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: and Dragon Defenders on a couple first downs and then yeah,
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: it was just great to see brock Party back in
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: the mix. Don't think it was much different than him
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: and Mac Jones. If anything, he got away with a
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: couple turnover worthy plays. Oh it's just true. I was surprised.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: You know, you're making a look.
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: You just couldn't wait.
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: You could not wait to say that, You couldn't wait
- 1:03:25Speaker 6: to say it. Wants a controversy so bad.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: I don't want a controversy.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: No, he just he loves Mac. I just don't understand
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: what lost.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: Come go watch this one and you'll I was shocked
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: it was this low, But I was like, I bet
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: his grade in PFF is not that good for this game,
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: and it was like fifty nine. It was significantly lower
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: than you would have, you know, expected, and lower than
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: but he played fine. They were wide open.
- 1:03:51Speaker 6: Yes, yes, you can find ways to criticize people without
- 1:03:54Speaker 6: tearing down other.
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: People Greg comparison. It's the thief of joy, that's what
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: they say.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: I mean.
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: There's also the of getting the players in the right position.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: Yack in the checks at the line of scrimmage. Christian
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: McCaffrey had one of his better days on the ground,
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: facilitating the return of Ricky Pearsall who ran more routes
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: than Christian McCaffrey. George Kittle ran more routes than Christian McCaffrey.
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: So CMC who breaks an NFL record through ten weeks
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: with touches, and I understand he was very involved in
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: the game today, not involved to the extent that he
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: has been. And so, as you pointed out, Greg, you
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: take a little pressure in terms of the volume of
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: carrying the football and getting hit by people that Christian
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: has faced. Where I think the team looked a little
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: better with Brock and they have all se.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: No question X too.
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: I mean, I'm not trying to say it was simpler.
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: Mac Jones was pushing the ball. He should be applauded
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: for that, but some.
- 1:04:48Speaker 6: Of the more advanced checks and tags that they were
- 1:04:50Speaker 6: getting into. You know, I didn't see this entire game,
- 1:04:53Speaker 6: but I did see clips, some clips of it where
- 1:04:55Speaker 6: you could tell that McCaffrey kit veteran players who are
- 1:04:59Speaker 6: used to this office are more comfortable getting into those
- 1:05:02Speaker 6: a little bit more complicated looks with Bruck Purdy because
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: he's been there, he knows more levels to it.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: Yeah, the only thing I was setting at was just
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: kidding like this was a full team performance. Like their
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: run game success has been so bad all season and
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: it was over fifty percent today. They were consistent throughout
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: the day. They hit their first twenty yard run of
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: the season. I couldn't believe that they were the last
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: team if you were curious to not have a twenty
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: yard run. I mean, wow, they made it to week eleven.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: It was a CMC burst up the middle. And sometimes
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: it is about the defense is taking advantage of mistakes.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: Because Jacoby had one bad interception one that wasn't as
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: bad early, but the forty nine ers made plays on
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: the ball, and Purdy gave the Cardinals a couple chances
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: early in this game and they dropped both of those chances.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: And their defense in Arizona, to me, is worry time
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: here for Jonathan Gannon because you go to Jacoby, but
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: he's a defensive coach. Their defense is getting worse throughout
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: the course of this season, and you can, you know,
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: talk about the injuries and they didn't have Marvin Harrison
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: Junior either on the offense has been like okay, like
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: it's really not about the offense. Their defense really wasn't
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: up for the fight today or last week. And it's
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: getting worse and they're no longer losing those like close games.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: They're losing games where they're getting blown out in the
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: division and are just so clearly fourth behind these other
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: two pre grade teams.
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: And it's worse as the season's gone on, to the
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: extent where you know this this happens a few weeks ago.
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: Maybe we feel different about the Arizona Cardinals, but we
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: felt good about them where we thought like, hey, maybe
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: the Seahawks figured out this whole run game thing, and
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: it turns out maybe this was the Cardinals defense a
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: little bit on the decline, where I know, like brockbying
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: Back made everything better for the forty nine ers. But
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: to have this game from Jacoby Brissett, and yeah he
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: didn't play perfect, but considering like what they were up
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: against in terms of what they needed to do to
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: score the football is a great, great Jacoby game where
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: he's a couple of drives and turnovers away from throwing.
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: From Frank And I don't buy that it was all meaningless.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: I know it was pretty quickly, like twenty five to ten,
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: but they were showing that they were going to move
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: the ball the whole day. So if the defense had
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: ever stood up just a little bit for them, the
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Cardinals defense, I think Jacob could have gotten him back
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: in this game. Shout out to Drey McBride who was
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: just getting in all sorts of fights and annoying people
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: and penalties and goes over one hundred yards, but Michael
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: Wilson goes fifteen for one p eighty five in this game.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: Shout out to the fantasy streamers out there that were
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: bold enough to play.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: Michael Wilson got a chance to be the wide receiver
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: one with no touchdowns, which was which will be a crazy,
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: crazy stat line that is incredible.
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: Order and balance has been restored.
- 1:07:48Speaker 6: Yes, the NFC West, the forty nine ers are back, Yes,
- 1:07:52Speaker 6: at least their offenses, and the Seahawks and the Rams
- 1:07:55Speaker 6: are dominant.
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: And then there's the Cardinals.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: And to close my gannon point, they had seventeen penalties today.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: That was the most of any team in the NFL
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: since twenty nineteen, and they had them all I think
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: in the first like forty six minutes of this game.
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: They were like, basically the first three quarters of this game.
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: They had seventeen penalties, So that does not speak well
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: for the coaching. A good day for a couple teams
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: battling at the bottom of the wildcard race, the Panthers
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: and the forty nine ers, and they made it a
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: whole lot harder for teams like the Vikings or really
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: anyone else to try to sneak into that race. All right,
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: let's go over to the AFC, where the Texans haven't
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: given up on this season yet.
- 1:08:38Speaker 8: Here's the spot, here's the chick, it's god.
- 1:08:42Speaker 11: The Texans winning at the buzzar and they get back
- 1:08:46Speaker 11: to five hundred, they drive down the field for the
- 1:08:51Speaker 11: game winning field goal.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: Houston five and five. I love a call from Mark
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: vandermir Kilt that provides a little context. Three out of
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: four in terms of wins for the Houston Texans, these
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: last two came with Davis Mills at quarterback. They win
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: sixteen to thirteen. Jordan in a game that caused you
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: to groan a lot, sure did not in a positive way.
- 1:09:19Speaker 6: Nope, thanks for clarifying that Cam Woard did everything he
- 1:09:25Speaker 6: could with a depleted receivers room to tie this extremely
- 1:09:31Speaker 6: gross game at thirteen all In fact, let's roll this
- 1:09:34Speaker 6: video while I'm talking of.
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: His throw too tight and Chigo kon quo.
- 1:09:39Speaker 6: It's a third and long after a false start, of course,
- 1:09:42Speaker 6: and then Ward takes a sack, of course, but he
- 1:09:44Speaker 6: breaks out this beautiful, beautiful deep show I'm made is
- 1:09:49Speaker 6: just gorgeous, and it's sort of the story of his
- 1:09:52Speaker 6: rookie season. It sets the Titans up for the game
- 1:09:55Speaker 6: tying touchdown. And I turned to my left and I
- 1:09:57Speaker 6: say to Greg, Greg, if this game goes into overtime,
- 1:10:01Speaker 6: I am going to walk into the lake at Sofiet.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Oh, how rude.
- 1:10:04Speaker 6: Well, we should have known that Davis Allen had the
- 1:10:07Speaker 6: Titans right where he wanted them. He completed a gorgeous
- 1:10:10Speaker 6: third and sixteen pass, better catch by Nico Collins, who
- 1:10:13Speaker 6: gets seventeen yards needed sixteen toe taps it on the sideline,
- 1:10:17Speaker 6: eventually sets up a game winning field goal that you
- 1:10:20Speaker 6: heard at the top of the call. And the best
- 1:10:22Speaker 6: thing I can further add about this game is that
- 1:10:25Speaker 6: it is now over.
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: Oh how rude. Almost as rude as when he got
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: the ball. Davis Mills with a chance to go win
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: the game. You said legacy drive time for Davis, and
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: I thought you are so unfamiliar with this man's game.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: I mean his win with Lovey Smith as his coach,
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: That the game that the Texans didn't want him to
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: win to knock them out of the number one seed
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: and eventually have CJ. Stroud. Bryce Young probably would have
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: been a Houston Texan if not for that win was
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: part of three game winning drive back in twenty twenty two,
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: the only three games the Texans won that year. We're
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: game doing drives by Davis Mills and now he's dot
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: it twice.
- 1:11:07Speaker 8: In a row.
- 1:11:07Speaker 6: Here. What I'm saying he defines his legacy, He's.
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: Just cementing it as a guy who you can trust
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: in the clutch.
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: And that is not a stretch WO.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: In a game where you know, in Jordan's defense because
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: Greg was watching the you know, Drew Brees on the
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: call in the Jamis game.
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: Oh, I forget Willis Is coming in.
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: I'm watching this Calculator Bowl between Baker Mayfield and Josh
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: Allen and Jordans over there, like, hey, guys, well to guess.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: What the score is?
- 1:11:35Speaker 4: I guess what the score for?
- 1:11:37Speaker 6: Like that game exists, Yeah, it's by halftime. These two
- 1:11:40Speaker 6: quarterbacks have only completed twenty three passes between them. The Texans'
- 1:11:44Speaker 6: best drive on offense was their first possession until that
- 1:11:47Speaker 6: the game winning field goal set up at the end.
- 1:11:50Speaker 6: They did move the ball, but they turned it over
- 1:11:51Speaker 6: on downs like right at the goal line. And then
- 1:11:54Speaker 6: the Texans defense just did the thing that they are
- 1:11:56Speaker 6: always asked to do and have to do and must
- 1:11:58Speaker 6: do and are equipped to do, which was set up
- 1:12:00Speaker 6: the team to salt the game away when they're up
- 1:12:02Speaker 6: there but thirteen to six on multiple occasions, and it
- 1:12:06Speaker 6: was back to back to back Houston series defensive series.
- 1:12:09Speaker 6: In the fourth quarter, a sack fumble by Will Anderson
- 1:12:12Speaker 6: Junior and then a sack by Danil Hunter and then
- 1:12:15Speaker 6: a tackle for loss on a third and medium screen
- 1:12:17Speaker 6: with about ten minutes left, all the Texans.
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: Had to do, which just like truly salt this away.
- 1:12:24Speaker 6: But the Texans already showed they can't really do that
- 1:12:27Speaker 6: even with CJ. Stradd at quarterback. So this was like
- 1:12:29Speaker 6: a reverse saulting in which the defense just kept shortening
- 1:12:33Speaker 6: the you know, the time of possession and just kept
- 1:12:35Speaker 6: giving them more bites at the Apple, and they couldn't
- 1:12:38Speaker 6: do it until finally they almost had no other choice
- 1:12:41Speaker 6: and they had to go down and set up a
- 1:12:44Speaker 6: field goal because cam Ward had played and made an
- 1:12:47Speaker 6: unbelievable play on the other side.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: So they're five and five, they're tied with the Chiefs.
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: They're tied with a Ravens team we're about to talk
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: about with Nick Schuok in just a little bit. And
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: I do like because this defense, to me, it's nice
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: to have one defense that you just know what you're
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: getting every week. That truly is that awesome, which is
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: why I give a lot of credit to the Titans today.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: Maybe not a lot, but they kept the pressure rate
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: super low on came where they had no running game
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: to speak of, and yet their success rate and the
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: ability to hit that drive at the end, like that
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: shows some progress that they were able to do some
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: positive things. The Texans are still play they're plus fifty
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: seven scoring differential on the season, Like there is a
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: team hidden in there that can still do it and
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: maybe maybe c J. Stroud. Let's get it done for all, right,
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: let's go to Madrid. This feels like a long.
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: That's what the score is, guys.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: Time ago, very similar in game shape and score to
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: the one we just talked about.
- 1:13:43Speaker 17: A twenty and nine yard field goal to win it
- 1:13:45Speaker 17: for the three and seven Miami Dolphins, bull Is down
- 1:13:49Speaker 17: kick is up on its good to Riley Patterson. He's
- 1:13:56Speaker 17: the field goal of the day and the Miami Dolphins
- 1:14:00Speaker 17: ree Spain with a sixteen to thirteenth victory over the
- 1:14:04Speaker 17: Washington Commanders, knowing that their upcoming schedule off to the
- 1:14:07Speaker 17: by includes the Saints, the Jets, the Steelers, and the Bengals.
- 1:14:11Speaker 17: He's this season still alive for the four and seven.
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: The Dolphins the path I love it, Will Gavin of
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: Top Sport Ellieah not for the last time this year
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: because he's going to be doing a show with us
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: on Black Friday. There it is, and we have one
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: more call from this game, sixteen to thirteen Dolphins win.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: On one hand, you can see the path for the
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: Dolphins because of the schedule. On the other hand, you
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: could watch this game and not think they've taken a
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: gigantic step forward. H I actually think the fourth and
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: one decision Patrick by Mike McDaniel to eschew a field
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: goal to take a lead at the end of regulation
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: when you're inside the five yard line was the most
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: interesting part of this game. He literally chose to not
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: take the lead, And I thought of Patrick Claybon in
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: that moment and thought, there are some cases where field
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: goals are good. Now I think that was one of those.
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: It's because you heard it with the end of the
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: first half interview where Dan Quinn said, Hey, we're not
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: gonna win this game with field goals. We're gonna win
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: it with touchdowns, and both coaches in the final moments
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: prove that because three points is not as many points
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: as seven.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: And nobody wanted to win this game.
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: Okay, told, the circumstances forced Mike McDaniel to kick a
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: field goal to win the game, which is something both
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: teams could have done several minutes before.
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: Okay, So for context, the previous drive, the Commanders chose
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: not to kick a field goal, not quite as close,
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: but very close on the goal line where Zach Ertz
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: unfortunately stumbles out of his route and they failed to
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: take the lead. It was a game that started actually
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: with both teams going on super long drives, wanting to
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: go for it on four down, and then both having
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: delay of game penalties. So that they couldn't even do it.
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: It was all tough. And the reason why I really
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: did not like that call, even before I promise, was
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: that they couldn't convert in short yardage all day. So
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: sometimes you gotta have a feel of your team. This
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: was not a good short yardage team the Miami Dolphins,
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: no matter if they ignored offensive coordinator Tyreek Hill and
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: gave it to Devon a chan in up the middle,
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: a play that you know, Tyreek Hill hates, or gave
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: it to Ali Gordon or to had to a throw
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: like their short yardage was a disaster all day, or
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: they would have won this game much easier, but they
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: didn't because they wanted to keep everyone watching NFL Network.
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: Stretch it out, stretch it out.
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: Yeah, that's why.
- 1:16:41Speaker 6: Sure, totally I posited the query maybe messy fun team,
- 1:16:48Speaker 6: maybe kind of on the verge of being a mess Dolphins,
- 1:16:50Speaker 6: the Miami Dolphins, because definitely, you know, Will Gavin said
- 1:16:55Speaker 6: it as eloquently as he always does. There is a path.
- 1:17:00Speaker 6: We've been sort of hinting at it and talking about it.
- 1:17:02Speaker 6: There is a path for this Miami Dolphins seem to
- 1:17:05Speaker 6: at least keep things interesting down the stretch, and it
- 1:17:08Speaker 6: starts with going a billion miles away and winning a
- 1:17:13Speaker 6: game as gross as this was, and nobody seemed to
- 1:17:19Speaker 6: actually want to win this game for a significant portion
- 1:17:23Speaker 6: of it. I don't know, there's something about they're just
- 1:17:26Speaker 6: not quitting. They're just not quitting. And you know what,
- 1:17:29Speaker 6: Mike McDaniel is far from this frazzled despondent like he's
- 1:17:34Speaker 6: not you know, late season injury riddled Kyle Shanahan.
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: Right now he is.
- 1:17:40Speaker 6: He's like sitting in press conferences and asking Ali Gordon
- 1:17:43Speaker 6: questions right behind your your friend Henry Hodgson.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: He's driving the car past the Bills thing he had
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: past the Billings.
- 1:17:52Speaker 4: Doing bits like this. This guy is at least going.
- 1:17:55Speaker 6: If he's going to go out, he's going out in style,
- 1:17:57Speaker 6: on his terms. And that makes a possibly a messy
- 1:18:01Speaker 6: fun team here, and I.
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: Just can't they just have to avoid stepping their toe
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: and they probably should have.
- 1:18:06Speaker 6: Have such a soft spot for McDaniel too, and like,
- 1:18:09Speaker 6: I just, you know what, I can't quit this team.
- 1:18:11Speaker 4: I just can't.
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: Well, the team needs to quit because this isn't a
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: this year type thing in gold to go situations where
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: Dolphins need short yardage. It's either galaxy brain mess or like, well,
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: I'm sure we bring in our power back and we'll
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: get it this time. Where it's like this is this
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: is multiple years where they haven't been able to be
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: successful in that capacity and there's no there's no there there,
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: there's no place where they can lean on it. It's
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: like we'll try to get a cham the ball with
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: some blockers around and hope you can make a play
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: that they just they can't do it.
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: They can't.
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: You can't control when the gummy hits.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: When, yeah, when they're in year four of also barely
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: getting to the line of scrimmage in time, and then
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: it's so stressful watching them to emotioning someone with two
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: seconds left on the playcock and I swear they hit
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: zeros on the playcock and it he should been called
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: for about seventeen delay of games. I'm just like, stop
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: motioning him with two seconds. Just hurry up to a
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: hurry up.
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: Coaches, We're so done with it.
- 1:19:07Speaker 6: Patrick's head in his hands, Greg's voice is raising and I'm.
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: Like, give it to me.
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: Javon Hchan, though he had one hundred and sixty five
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: yards in this game of the team's three hundred and
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: eleven yards. They ran for one hundred and sixty nine
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: yards overall. He is freaking awesome. Shout out to Marcus Mariota, who,
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: through a regrettable interception in overtime. Before that, if it
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: had just been regulation, played a really good game, I thought.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: But before overtime, apparently Jack Jones told the front seven
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: Jordan Brooks, if y'all stop the run, he's gonna throw
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: me the ball because he can't throw. And it was
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: a bad interception.
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: I just didn't deserve that.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: He doesn't really deserve that. But Jack Jones was saying
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: the Raiders should have never gotten rid of him on Twitter.
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: He might have been having some of those postgame bruise
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: or something from the sound of it before we leave
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: this game and we leave the International Series. Congratulations to
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: Henry Hodgson and the entire in a Nationals biggest slate
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: ever seven games, and yes he now is getting memed
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: in a picture of Mike McDaniel in that press conference.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: Let's also listen to one last Will Gavin call. This
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: was the Deebo Samuel touchdown. Early Deebo Samuel going you
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: most from left to right.
- 1:20:17Speaker 17: Two receivers not that early.
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: The first touch.
- 1:20:23Speaker 17: Fifty He's got an angle to the to the ends
- 1:20:26Speaker 17: of touchdowns, twenty.
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: Yard across the formation. Run to Deebo.
- 1:20:34Speaker 17: Samuel on the quick pause, how do we have a first?
- 1:20:37Speaker 17: I have a touchdown home Spanish soil.
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: How he goes to Washington?
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: Oh, I just love the way he says commandos. Fun day.
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: We learned how Patrick likes the point. Oh my god,
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: we learned Uh how Jordan more noises is like not
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: so secretly becoming a Rams fan. I don't know you
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: were into that game and.
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: People do this. That's the thing I like.
- 1:21:00Speaker 6: I twelve years as a beat writer of various teams,
- 1:21:04Speaker 6: and I never got to be like enjoy team right.
- 1:21:07Speaker 6: I mean I enjoyed all of them, but I never
- 1:21:09Speaker 6: got to like truly and just even dipping my toe
- 1:21:12Speaker 6: into the waters stressful.
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: Not for me, It's very stressful for me. You know
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: who's cool under pressure, It's Nick Schuck. We're gonna hit
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: those games. Next, we're gonna say goodbye to Patrick and Jordan.
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: Let's go to Cleveland.
- 1:21:23Speaker 16: It's fourth and one from the Cleveland thirty five. The
- 1:21:27Speaker 16: decision has made. They'll go for it. Touch push formation,
- 1:21:31Speaker 16: Mark Andrews under center, takes a snap reel Zone's rolls
- 1:21:36Speaker 16: on his own.
- 1:21:36Speaker 11: He's of the thirty Andrews of the twenty ten.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: Five touch down Ravens. Oh, what a creative call.
- 1:21:45Speaker 11: And Mark Andrews goes from the push push to the
- 1:21:48Speaker 11: big bad sprint.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: Now the Ravens have the lead. Uh Smiles all around
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: for Ravens coaches, Ravens fans, and Rod Woodson with his
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: uh oh my to Chris Wesley and there he gone.
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: That was also Jerry Sandusky on WBAL. That was one
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: of the coolest play calls of the day. Yes, Mark
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: Andrews with the longest touchdown run for a tight end
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: follow me here since Jackie Smith in nineteen sixty eight.
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: That great stat was by Josh Dubo of the Associated Press.
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: The Ravens hold on to that lead to win twenty
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: three to sixteen in a complicated games shook that included
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: a lot of Seder sanders after halftime. You can start
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: this recap wherever you want, because a lot went on
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: in this game.
- 1:22:39Speaker 18: Oh wow, Actually, you know what, Given the chance to
- 1:22:41Speaker 18: start it anywhere, I'm not exactly sure where I'll go.
- 1:22:44Speaker 18: There was one sequence in this game, Greg where we
- 1:22:47Speaker 18: almost got interception interception interception on back to back to
- 1:22:50Speaker 18: back plays on three straight plays like that kind of
- 1:22:53Speaker 18: just typifies how weird of a game this was. The
- 1:22:56Speaker 18: Browns defense forces a couple of interceptions turnovers via interceptions.
- 1:23:00Speaker 18: Lamar's statline looks worse than he was, but he wasn't great.
- 1:23:03Speaker 18: The Browns offense is still the worst in the NFL,
- 1:23:05Speaker 18: no matter who's playing quarterback. And ultimately Baltimore did what
- 1:23:08Speaker 18: they do, which is they go into the fourth quarter
- 1:23:10Speaker 18: of what is essentially a rock fight and they find
- 1:23:12Speaker 18: a way to get it done with the creative play
- 1:23:13Speaker 18: call on fourth and one where they show as if
- 1:23:16Speaker 18: they're going to sneak and instead Mark and Andrews goes
- 1:23:18Speaker 18: around the end and proves just how athletic he is
- 1:23:20Speaker 18: out running Carson Sweznar to the end zone and that's it.
- 1:23:23Speaker 18: That's the difference. The Bravens win. They've won their fourth
- 1:23:26Speaker 18: in a row. They are right on the stealers heels
- 1:23:28Speaker 18: and everything is as it should be.
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: Right, it's a game. If the people out there weren't watching,
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: and I don't think many were, because that was a
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: spicy late game window where you had a great four
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: h five game that's kind of overshadowing the national game,
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: which is Patrick Mahomes going against the Broncos. And then
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: there's this game too. They were trailing sixteen to ten
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: in going into the fourth and it's not like they
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: did it quickly. They actually tied the game on two
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: field goal drives, the second of which was under five
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: minutes to go. So they're trailing under five minutes to
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: go before they finally take that lead with Mark Andrews,
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: you mentioned his stat line for Lamart wasn't great because
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: he had the two interceptions, both off deflected passes. Those
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: were kind of bad luck. But ultimately, you know, the
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: Browns defense did more than their job. Miles Garrett with
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: four sacks is is just getting crazy what Miles Garrett
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: is doing. But I got to ask, because I did
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: not watch it late, how was the Shador Sanders experience
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: and was it as bad as the box score looked?
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: Four for sixteen for forty seven yards, An interception and
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: two sacks taken by Schadur came in at halftime after
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: Dylan Gabriel suffered a concussion.
- 1:24:40Speaker 18: The interception rivaled the Justin Fields interception that was thrown
- 1:24:43Speaker 18: last week against the.
- 1:24:44Speaker 8: Browns as one of the worst of the year, but
- 1:24:46Speaker 8: he was also.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: Put it on the bard. Eric, I know we're not
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: going to watch it right now, but put it on
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: the board.
- 1:24:51Speaker 18: Yeah, yeah, keep it in mind because it was he
- 1:24:53Speaker 18: perfectly split his two receivers and the guy between the
- 1:24:55Speaker 18: two receivers was Nate Wiggins for an interception. He was
- 1:24:57Speaker 18: under a lot of pressure, but he did a lot
- 1:24:59Speaker 18: of That's what I thought he would do if you
- 1:25:01Speaker 18: watched the Browns in their preseason game against the Rams
- 1:25:03Speaker 18: and he came in and he just held out of
- 1:25:05Speaker 18: the ball forever and forever and forever and took a
- 1:25:07Speaker 18: bunch of sacks. Folks then chalked it up to while
- 1:25:09Speaker 18: he's playing with a bunch of guys who aren't going
- 1:25:11Speaker 18: to be on the offensive line a couple weeks, not
- 1:25:12Speaker 18: even gonna be on the roster in a couple of weeks.
- 1:25:14Speaker 18: But you saw a lot of that tonight too, and
- 1:25:16Speaker 18: that's kind of indicative of the Browns offense as a whole.
- 1:25:19Speaker 18: They get a third and long, every team is blitzing them,
- 1:25:21Speaker 18: every team sending additional rushers after them because they know
- 1:25:23Speaker 18: that they can't hold up long enough to protect either
- 1:25:25Speaker 18: of these guys. And these guys aren't capable of throwing
- 1:25:27Speaker 18: the ball down the field, Gabriel because of our lack
- 1:25:30Speaker 18: of arm strength. Shador because he doesn't decide quick enough.
- 1:25:34Speaker 18: He just holds out of the ball too long. I
- 1:25:35Speaker 18: think his average time to throw was north of three seconds,
- 1:25:38Speaker 18: which is not good when you are a pocket passer,
- 1:25:40Speaker 18: if you're a play extender, if you can be a
- 1:25:41Speaker 18: Jalen Hurts and move around and survey and that sort
- 1:25:43Speaker 18: of thing, that's okay, that's passable, that is not okay
- 1:25:46Speaker 18: for Shador Sanders.
- 1:25:47Speaker 8: So it was his first start.
- 1:25:48Speaker 18: It came in at the second half, and you could
- 1:25:51Speaker 18: understand if he was, you know, not maybe entirely mentally,
- 1:25:53Speaker 18: just ready to go because you just get thrown in there.
- 1:25:56Speaker 8: And he did do a couple of good things.
- 1:25:57Speaker 18: He threw a really nice first pass when the field,
- 1:26:00Speaker 18: he scrambled for a first down for five yards, which
- 1:26:02Speaker 18: was the Browns first third down conversion of the day
- 1:26:05Speaker 18: and one of only two for the whole day.
- 1:26:06Speaker 8: Oh my l offense. And he had a good throw
- 1:26:09Speaker 8: in the fourth quarter on that last drive.
- 1:26:10Speaker 18: But ultimately he's he doesn't make any difference, just like
- 1:26:14Speaker 18: Dylan Gabriel doesn't make any difference.
- 1:26:15Speaker 8: It's a bad offense.
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: Yeah, the offensive line is so brutal, and you mentioned
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: the good throw. He had a twenty five yard or
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: up up the seam to Fannin and they jen Jerry
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: Judy makes a couple guys miss on a short throw
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: on a third and ten, and actually, just a couple
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: plays later, he does have a chance to be the hero.
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: Shader Sanders is rolling out on kind of a scramble
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: drill has Isaiah Bond pretty open for a potential touchdown.
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: It's not a play where you can like set your
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: feet and it's gonna look beautiful, so you don't kill him.
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: But he did have a moment where it's like he
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: could have been the hero and capped in incredible drive.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: He missed that throw by quite a bit and then yeah,
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: they end up not getting the first down a couple
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: plays later. Are we concerned at all? And I know
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: it was against Cleveland, so maybe that answers it. That
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: the Ravens offense during this winning streak and they've won
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: four in row, they're now five and five, still hasn't
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: really looked like the Ravens offense to me, shook. Are
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: you concerned?
- 1:27:12Speaker 8: Yeah, we go back to that Miami game. Was that
- 1:27:14Speaker 8: a Thursday night or yesday?
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: Thursday?
- 1:27:16Speaker 18: I remember, okay, and because I know we did a
- 1:27:19Speaker 18: show about it, and they ended up with you know,
- 1:27:21Speaker 18: Lamar ends up with four touchdowns and they kind of
- 1:27:23Speaker 18: got together in the second half, but it was very
- 1:27:24Speaker 18: much like just in big spurts, like it wasn't consistent
- 1:27:27Speaker 18: over the course of that game. The Miami game or
- 1:27:29Speaker 18: not Miami. The Minnesota game last week was pretty ugly.
- 1:27:32Speaker 18: It was it was like a forty seven minute condensed
- 1:27:34Speaker 18: replay despite being twenty seven to nineteen.
- 1:27:36Speaker 8: And as I started, I go, there's no way.
- 1:27:38Speaker 18: And then I get into the fourth quarter, I'm like, now,
- 1:27:40Speaker 18: I see how we got the forty seven minutes, which
- 1:27:41Speaker 18: is long for a condensed game. So and it was
- 1:27:44Speaker 18: they struggled again to night, but the Brown's defense is
- 1:27:46Speaker 18: very good. I am a little concerned, but I'm really
- 1:27:48Speaker 18: not that concerned with Lamar's play. He's just been a
- 1:27:51Speaker 18: little touch offf in the accuracy department. Their running game
- 1:27:53Speaker 18: has not been as consistent as I would like. Now,
- 1:27:55Speaker 18: Dereck Henry became the first rusher to break a hundred
- 1:27:57Speaker 18: yards against the Browns defense this season, so hat tipped him.
- 1:28:00Speaker 18: But it's not a constant presence for them. They're just
- 1:28:02Speaker 18: not in no rhythm right now. Would you expect when
- 1:28:04Speaker 18: you miss your quarterback for so many weeks, I would
- 1:28:06Speaker 18: imagine over the next month they are going to get
- 1:28:07Speaker 18: it together. They also play I believe the Jets are
- 1:28:10Speaker 18: on the schedule next and then the Bengals. They'll probably
- 1:28:12Speaker 18: get right in those two games, and we won't be worried.
- 1:28:14Speaker 18: So that's why I'm not too worried.
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: Yeah, they avoided a landmine tonight. This would have been
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: a huge loss. They don't ever shot Bateman out there.
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: They're not really getting the secondary receivers involved too much.
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: And yeah, as I mentioned, Miles Garrett four sacks on
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: the day, one of I believe only five players ever
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: to have three four sack games in his career. He
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: now has fifteen on the season. Michael Strahan, watch, he's
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: got a chance to go try to set the single
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: season record. Let's go to Pittsburgh. Let's stay in the division,
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: the team that the Ravens are trying to catch.
- 1:28:48Speaker 19: Placo gets a snap back to pass you others bringing
- 1:28:51Speaker 19: five flack over the middle of the field, It's picked
- 1:28:53Speaker 19: off bitch Dugger. Dugger to the forty yard line, preaching
- 1:28:56Speaker 19: across the fifty to the forty looking for a plot
- 1:28:59Speaker 19: from herby.
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: He gets a trick you down the left side.
- 1:29:01Speaker 19: Then Mitch chiefsmiss and waltzes into the end zone. Dougger
- 1:29:06Speaker 19: a seventy two yard interception return.
- 1:29:10Speaker 8: For a touchdown for the Steelers.
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: Oh, Kyle Dugger the pickup of the year. Take the
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: glass slipper off of Joe Flacco and see if it
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: fits for Kyle Dugger. He's made a pretty big difference,
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: considering they gave up a sixth to seventh round pick
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: swap for him. Thirty four to twelve. Steelers win this
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: game going away, even though for most of it it
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: felt like it was more of a defensive struggle than
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: we expected.
- 1:29:40Speaker 18: Nick Schuck, Yeah, And do you know, Frankly, you gotta
- 1:29:44Speaker 18: give the Bengals defense a bit of credit because for
- 1:29:46Speaker 18: the first time in ages, they were keeping the Bengals
- 1:29:49Speaker 18: in the game because their offense wasn't Their offense was
- 1:29:50Speaker 18: struggling mightily to finish drives. It was It was very
- 1:29:53Speaker 18: much a defensive battle here, and yet the way this
- 1:29:56Speaker 18: game kind of devolved and then you know, win in
- 1:29:58Speaker 18: the favor of the Steelers makes me think this may
- 1:30:00Speaker 18: be the one that buries the Bengals permanently. Yeah, and
- 1:30:02Speaker 18: it's because on a day that you get a good
- 1:30:04Speaker 18: defensive performance like this final score suggests that, oh they
- 1:30:07Speaker 18: gave up thirty plus again defensively. No, it was two
- 1:30:09Speaker 18: defensive touchdowns, like the defense did a good enough job
- 1:30:13Speaker 18: to keep him in this game, but instead it was
- 1:30:16Speaker 18: the Steelers defense making a difference.
- 1:30:18Speaker 8: Classic Steelers played.
- 1:30:19Speaker 18: Their cover one Robert Kyle Duggas playing the robbery he's
- 1:30:22Speaker 18: running down underneath, and an inexplicable interception you know, thrown
- 1:30:26Speaker 18: by Joe Flacco, and then they maximize that a close
- 1:30:28Speaker 18: game that became a blowout, became a bit of a laugher,
- 1:30:31Speaker 18: and I think again could be one of those final
- 1:30:33Speaker 18: nails in the Bengals coffin.
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: Yeah, with four minutes to go in this game, the
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: Steelers offense, which had Mason Rudolph at quarterback starting in
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: the second half of this game, because Aaron Rodgers suffered
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: what Adam Schefter is referring to as a small break.
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: I believe in his left wrist. I don't know. I mean,
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: I know there's different severities and everything, but break is
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: a break. That's not a good sign. Mason Rudolph is
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: that quarterback. Before that last four minute stretch, the Steelers
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: offense only had thirteen points. It was just off that
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: pick six plus another at thirteen and then eventually the
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: door gets knocked over by Kenneth Gainwell and Mason Rudolph
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: and Darnell Washington in a game that was spicy. Tell
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: us a little bit about the Jamar Chase fracas, I'll
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: say with Jalen Ramsey.
- 1:31:30Speaker 18: Yeah, this game was Look okay, first off, it's AFC
- 1:31:32Speaker 18: North with Nick Shook this week, which is great. So
- 1:31:34Speaker 18: let me bring you into the AFC North corner here
- 1:31:36Speaker 18: and understand, help you understand why these teams hate each
- 1:31:39Speaker 18: other so much.
- 1:31:40Speaker 8: Okay, Cincinnati little brother in the division.
- 1:31:42Speaker 18: For a long time, Pittsburgh always represented one of the
- 1:31:45Speaker 18: kings of the division them in Baltimore. Cincinnati is always
- 1:31:47Speaker 18: wanted to be there, and they got there over the
- 1:31:49Speaker 18: last few years. But they feel themselves slipping out of
- 1:31:51Speaker 18: that right now in a division that's very much for
- 1:31:53Speaker 18: the taking. So you go to Sunday, and the Bengals
- 1:31:56Speaker 18: need to win. They've won once with Joe Flacco as
- 1:31:58Speaker 18: their starter. They're desperate for one. Steelers are desperate to
- 1:32:00Speaker 18: prove that no, we're not blowing our lead in the
- 1:32:02Speaker 18: AFC North, we are going to prove that we're better
- 1:32:04Speaker 18: than the Bengals.
- 1:32:05Speaker 8: It's chippy, and it gets chippy in the.
- 1:32:07Speaker 18: Second half where after Jalen Ramsey blasts Jamar Chase in
- 1:32:11Speaker 18: an incoplete pass and they have, you know, exchanged some words.
- 1:32:13Speaker 18: I'm like, keep an eye on that because both those
- 1:32:15Speaker 18: guys like to talk a lot of trash. Well, eventually
- 1:32:17Speaker 18: they start talking trash in a sequence here. Now, mind you,
- 1:32:20Speaker 18: this play here in the in the second half is
- 1:32:22Speaker 18: a key fourth down one in which it seemed like
- 1:32:24Speaker 18: the Bengals were just bluffing and they weren't actually gonna
- 1:32:26Speaker 18: go for it.
- 1:32:27Speaker 8: They were gonna punt in the stoppage of play.
- 1:32:29Speaker 18: After the Bengals call a timeout, Jamar Chase and h
- 1:32:32Speaker 18: Jalen Ramsey get into a bit of a scuffle. And
- 1:32:35Speaker 18: it's not the first time that these teams were brought together.
- 1:32:38Speaker 18: And you're what you're seeing right now if you watch
- 1:32:39Speaker 18: on YouTube, is Ramsey throwing punches, grabs the face mask
- 1:32:42Speaker 18: with his left hand, throws a right cross that gets
- 1:32:45Speaker 18: im ejected, and then we think, wow, Jalen Ramsey just
- 1:32:48Speaker 18: flew off the handle. No, what we find out later
- 1:32:51Speaker 18: is that, for the second time this season, at least
- 1:32:54Speaker 18: to my memory, m hm, somebody decided to spit on
- 1:32:57Speaker 18: somebody else and that's what caused the Franks.
- 1:33:00Speaker 8: Jamar Chase spitting on Jalen Ramsey.
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: He denied it.
- 1:33:02Speaker 18: After the game, so I didn't spit on anybody, but
- 1:33:05Speaker 18: you can there's very clear field level video that he
- 1:33:07Speaker 18: spit on Jalen Ramsey.
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: Yeah, if you wanted to be generous to Jamar Chase,
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: you could say he was so out of his mind
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: in that moment that he legitimately forgot that he did
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: it or convinced himself that he didn't actually do it.
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: But unfortunately, there's video of it and he definitely did it,
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: which means for the Bengals, Jamar Chase is almost certainly
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: going to be suspended for the next game.
- 1:33:27Speaker 9: Right.
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: I think we established the precedent when it comes to
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: Jalen Carter in the first game of this season and
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: Jalen Ramsey also explained earlier. A few plays before I
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: think exactly the play before that, Chase had actually grabbed
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: Ramsey's mouth guard out and Ramsey was saying, look, I'm
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: all for trash docking. I love trash talk, and you know,
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: he grabbed my mouthguard and so we got into it.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: But whatever. Then we just started trash talking again. But
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: when he spit, yeah, no bueno. He couldn't take it anymore.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: On a day that was extremely frustrating for Jamar Chase
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: only three catches on ten targets for thirty yards. And
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: I just expected this Joe Flacco story, how everything been great,
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: not that he was like awful in this game, to
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: just run out a little bit of steam at some point.
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: And he's a guy who just has struggled against pressure.
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: And he was six of twelve for fifty eight yards
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: with an interception and some sacks in there under pressure.
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: Today wasn't good enough. Before we leave this game, I
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: do want to give some love to our guy, Darnel Washington,
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: who man, we've been putting him in the spotlight all
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: season in Dublin. I thought he was the player of
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: the game. I think he's putting together an offensive player
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: of the Year candidacy with plays like this.
- 1:34:40Speaker 19: So Rogers in the shotgun has gained well to his
- 1:34:43Speaker 19: right fifty one seconds remaining as he gets a snap
- 1:34:45Speaker 19: back to pass looking fires over the middle of the
- 1:34:48Speaker 19: field complete to Darna Washington.
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: Oh, he shut down him again and.
- 1:34:51Speaker 14: Then wars his shoulder robbling down the left sideline.
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: He shuck him off with.
- 1:34:57Speaker 19: His stiff arm and got down the left sid sideline
- 1:35:01Speaker 19: inside the thirty five yard line of the Bengals out.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: Of the thirty one.
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: No Jake break on this in my trailer, fellows, that
- 1:35:08Speaker 5: was a truck ramp.
- 1:35:09Speaker 7: Darnaut Washington stuff farm is the first guy, lowers the
- 1:35:13Speaker 7: boom on Gino Stone, stays on the tightrope, and then
- 1:35:16Speaker 7: smoke the third defender.
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: That is it all timer. They make these these videos
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: shook that they put on NFL Plus or whatever, like
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: the like the craziest stiff arms in history, Like it's
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: gonna make that list. But then to finish it off
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: by running over ginostone. That is one of the all
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: time I'm the man plays like in NFL history. I
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: love me some Darnau Washington, who, by the way, also
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: had a play where it was the biggest man I've
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: ever seen hurdle in opponent. So Darnault Washington is just
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: putting fun on tape and I am here for it.
- 1:35:53Speaker 18: Shook, Yeah, shout out to Kyle Brandt, the master of
- 1:35:57Speaker 18: angry runs. I think you found your winner for twenty
- 1:35:59Speaker 18: twenty five were a number eighty. They affectionately know him
- 1:36:02Speaker 18: in Pittsburgh as Mount Washington ran over a few guys
- 1:36:04Speaker 18: on that one.
- 1:36:05Speaker 8: There's your winner.
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: And he also, like is a huge part of this
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: passing attack. He had four catches for sixty seven yards.
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: They're they're not really getting dk metcalf On tracked consistently.
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: He did have forty nine yards on eight targets. But
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: it was a lot of Kenny Gainwell because Jalen Warren
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: got hurt. It was a lot of Nick herbig rushing
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: the passer. And yes, there was a lot of Steelers.
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: Big win for them to stay one game up on
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: the division. Shook his sticking around and we're going to
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: talk about one of the biggest games of a great week.
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: Eleven slate. Yes, let's wrap up with Eagles and Lions.
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: Goff Beck, you're a coups of wash. He's hit, He's hit, Dailey.
- 1:36:51Speaker 5: Cos the whole coups loose, the Kobe Tea and him.
- 1:36:57Speaker 10: This is where Fangio is at his best. He can
- 1:37:00Speaker 10: down them up a way to break down the protection,
- 1:37:03Speaker 10: get hits on the quarterback like nobody's business. Nikobe Dean
- 1:37:07Speaker 10: just ran right through the face mask of David Montgomery
- 1:37:11Speaker 10: on his way to the quarterback.
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: Jared Golf, Oh, it's tough to find a highlight on
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: Sunday Night football, but we had to start with that
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: Eagles defense. Na Kobe Dean with a quarterback sack and
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: another quarterback hit to throw in in a sixteen to
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: nine performance. That was Merril Reese and Mike Quick on
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: WIP and I picked that highlight Shook in part because
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: of what happened right afterwards. The Lions didn't snap the
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: ball till they had about five seconds left on the
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: play clock. It was about as close as you'll ever
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: see in an NFL game to an offense just saying
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: I give up too good. I don't want to be
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: here anymore. We're supposed to be hurrying up here, but frankly,
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: like we're cold, we're not getting any yards anyways. Why
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: hurry because we're just gonna be unsuccessful on our next play. Anyways,
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: that is what they were. Then they kicked the field goal.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: It didn't matter. They weren't getting anything through the air.
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: And what a defensive performance on a night Jared goth
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: finishes fourteen of thirty seven and the Eagles defense carries
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: them to a victory. What stood out to you from
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: this defensive performance.
- 1:38:28Speaker 18: I mean that what we saw against the Packers wasn't
- 1:38:30Speaker 18: a fluke, right, that this Eagles defense is for real
- 1:38:33Speaker 18: and it wasn't just a flash of the pan last week.
- 1:38:35Speaker 18: And it's not just the addition of Jalen Phillips. It's
- 1:38:37Speaker 18: everything coming together at all three levels. You know, you
- 1:38:40Speaker 18: heard Chris collins Worth kind of rave about their depth
- 1:38:43Speaker 18: throughout this game, but it is true. The performance of
- 1:38:45Speaker 18: Nacobe Dean in coverage. Nacoby Dean is a rusher like
- 1:38:48Speaker 18: he's just one of many key parts in this defense,
- 1:38:51Speaker 18: and they're all coming together at the perfect time and
- 1:38:53Speaker 18: it has become the strength of their team. Because by
- 1:38:55Speaker 18: the way, that final score tells you what you need
- 1:38:57Speaker 18: to know about their offense. They weren't getting much done
- 1:38:59Speaker 18: offensively either, but it doesn't matter when you have a
- 1:39:01Speaker 18: defense that can absolutely squeeze the life out of a
- 1:39:04Speaker 18: high powered offense, and like you said, make them wave
- 1:39:08Speaker 18: the white flag. We're ready to get back on the buses,
- 1:39:10Speaker 18: go back to the airport and fly on.
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: I couldn't believe it, and it was a great performance
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: by Jamir Gibbs individually. He ends up with one hundred
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: and forty six yards from scrimmage, making people miss on
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: a couple catch and run. So Goff's total yardage doesn't
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: look as crazy, But I was looking for the stat
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: that really explained everything in this game. I think the
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: closest I got well first of all GoF seven for
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: twenty four in the second half of this game is
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: just that's crazy for Jared Goff. And yes, a lot
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: of them were against pressure, and his numbers against pressure
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: are insane. He went one for fourteen in this game
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: against pressle It's just crazy. But there were a couple
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: throws too where he wasn't even pressured and he was
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: so spooked that he's getting rid of the ball too
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: quickly and dirting the ball and missing pass. Says. They
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: had a pressure rate of only a forty one percent,
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: which is really high. Despite Goff getting rid of the
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: ball quickly and them only blitzing twelve percent of the time.
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: So what that tells me is that Jalen Phillips with
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: four pressures in this game, and Moro Ojomo who had
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: a number of big plays, and Jalen Carter who was
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: really good in this game, and yes, Vic Fangio all
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: were just making it happen. And their defensive line was
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: just way better than the Lions offensive line, which has
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: had some injuries, and even Sewell was in and out tonight.
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: They won the game and the trenches shook, and so
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: that way, they didn't even need much out of their offense,
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: which didn't particularly have a good night, but it just
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: wasn't as bad as what the Lions did.
- 1:40:40Speaker 18: Yeah, and winning the game of the trenches, of course,
- 1:40:42Speaker 18: always warms my heart, which is why I know you
- 1:40:44Speaker 18: put that little accent on it.
- 1:40:45Speaker 8: Fourteen for thirty seven. I did a quick scan right
- 1:40:48Speaker 8: before we started here.
- 1:40:49Speaker 18: I believe it's the lowest completion percentage in Jared Goff's
- 1:40:52Speaker 18: regular season career.
- 1:40:54Speaker 8: It's below forty percent.
- 1:40:55Speaker 18: Previous low was forty three point eight, So that we're
- 1:40:59Speaker 18: looking at a historically bad night for Jared Goff, and
- 1:41:02Speaker 18: you're absolutely right. He was completely he was seeing ghosts.
- 1:41:05Speaker 18: He was essentially seeing ghosts. He was spooked by this
- 1:41:08Speaker 18: pass rush. He's missing throws that we see him make
- 1:41:12Speaker 18: all the time, I mean, and just flat out and
- 1:41:14Speaker 18: missing them either.
- 1:41:15Speaker 8: High, low, wide.
- 1:41:16Speaker 18: He looked completely lost as to why he was struggling. Obviously,
- 1:41:20Speaker 18: you would think that the weather played a small part
- 1:41:22Speaker 18: in it, but I don't think that's really what it was.
- 1:41:24Speaker 18: And this whole offense was held back by an Eagles
- 1:41:26Speaker 18: defense that it's crazy to say this, but tonight was
- 1:41:29Speaker 18: the first time I thought, wow, they had all those
- 1:41:31Speaker 18: departures and they might actually end up being better than
- 1:41:34Speaker 18: they were last year.
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: We'll see. And look, they're in great position to now
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: go get that one seed, which is it's crazy to
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: think about. For all the issues that the Philadelphia Eagles
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: have had this season on offense, that continued in this game.
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: At one point they their success rate for the night
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: passing the ball and overall was around thirty percent, which
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: is terrible, yep, And it was like twenty five percent
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: when they were up ten points in the fourth quarter.
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: They are the number one seed right now in the
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: NFC on you know, a tiebreaker with the Rams because
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: they beat the Rams, and it got me thinking, Okay,
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: they're the one seed. They're eight and two. They've beaten
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: the following teams this year, shook the Lions, the Rams,
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: the Packers, and the Bucks and oh, by the way,
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: the Chiefs we threw in there too. The seven to
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: one in the conference. They've basically beaten all the other
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: good teams in the entire league other than the Seahawks.
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: They haven't played the Seahawks. It's it's crazy. And then
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: we've seen the last couple of weeks that they've basically won. Yeah,
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: the the NFC North by taking care of the Packers
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: and the Lions in back to back weeks. And yeah,
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: they have a lot to work on on offense. I
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: think the Lions defense did a great job basically backing
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: up Dan Campbell in terms of his fourth down decisions.
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: A lot of people are gonna get on Dan Campbell
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: for going for over and over on fourth down and
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: they go for they go zero for five. One of
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: them was a fake punt, but they turn it over
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: on downs five different times in this game. What do
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: you think about that?
- 1:43:01Speaker 18: I mean, that's who he is, that's that's his reputation.
- 1:43:03Speaker 18: He's known across the league for being the guy that
- 1:43:05Speaker 18: goes for it on fourth down. I just thought that
- 1:43:08Speaker 18: there were opportunities that they had that they did not
- 1:43:11Speaker 18: cash in, even the Jared Goff in complete pass on
- 1:43:13Speaker 18: fourth and goal. He's got Brock right underneath and he
- 1:43:17Speaker 18: just doesn't he doesn't see him. He's trying to get
- 1:43:19Speaker 18: the ball because he's getting hit. He's constantly under durest.
- 1:43:21Speaker 18: So I think the execution was poor, But most of
- 1:43:23Speaker 18: the decision making I thought was completely fine. You know,
- 1:43:26Speaker 18: you look at it in hindsight and say, well, if
- 1:43:28Speaker 18: you had a couple of few goals, this would be
- 1:43:30Speaker 18: the closer game. Yeah, well, that's the benefit of hindsight.
- 1:43:32Speaker 18: Dan Campill's not going to change who he is. I
- 1:43:34Speaker 18: did think that as he saw him on the sideline
- 1:43:36Speaker 18: and his nose is getting progressively redder and redder, as
- 1:43:39Speaker 18: he got colder and colder throughout the game, he had
- 1:43:41Speaker 18: this look of like dejection, as if like wow, like
- 1:43:45Speaker 18: I it almost looked like he felt like he was
- 1:43:46Speaker 18: letting his guys down, as if his the plays that
- 1:43:49Speaker 18: he called weren't the right ones and they were the
- 1:43:52Speaker 18: errors or the lack of capitalization and opportunity was just stacking.
- 1:43:56Speaker 18: You could see him kind of just being like man,
- 1:43:58Speaker 18: almost as lost as Jared Goff was. So I think,
- 1:44:00Speaker 18: you know, at this point in the season, Lions being
- 1:44:02Speaker 18: six and four, it's not like they.
- 1:44:04Speaker 8: Needed the reality check.
- 1:44:05Speaker 18: But I do think that this loss here gives them
- 1:44:07Speaker 18: an idea of what they need to work on it.
- 1:44:10Speaker 18: It does concern me because if you think about who
- 1:44:11Speaker 18: they've played this season, how have they gotten beat by
- 1:44:14Speaker 18: the teams they've gotten beat?
- 1:44:15Speaker 8: It started in Week one with the Packers, right, you
- 1:44:16Speaker 8: lose to the Packers.
- 1:44:17Speaker 18: Because they had this blueprint, they put it out there.
- 1:44:20Speaker 18: How do you beat them? You get after Jared Goff,
- 1:44:21Speaker 18: you move them off a spot which is not new.
- 1:44:23Speaker 18: But then the Chiefs did something similar. And then you
- 1:44:25Speaker 18: look at the Eagles. Three of their four losses have
- 1:44:28Speaker 18: all been the same formula, which makes me think there's
- 1:44:30Speaker 18: a weakness that they're going to have to figure out
- 1:44:31Speaker 18: how to adjust and fix and protect against.
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not a team that's as complete as they
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: were in the past, and you mentioned six and four.
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: It's a different season shaping up. So the Bears, Yes,
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: the Chicago Bears are in first place. We came into
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: the division saying that the season, saying this is the
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: best division in football, and the Bears do have a
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: tough schedule and they're going to get a chance to
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: go try to beat the Lions themselves, and the Packers
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: are obviously right there. But the Lions are in second
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: place at six and three, and then you have the
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: Packers at six three and one. So these three teams
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: will be battling and none of them are very likely
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: to get the one seed that's probably coming down to
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: the NFC West winner or the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 1:45:16Speaker 18: And Eagles fans will still find a way to be
- 1:45:18Speaker 18: upset about something.
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: I get it though, because like they had one good
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: drive tonight, and it was the drive late in the
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: second half that I mean the first half that was
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: really where we had the action. The Lions had that
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: two play drive where they finally hit a couple passes.
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: One was two, a'mon, ra you only had two catches
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: on the day, and then a big, you know pass
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: to Jamison Williams. And the Eagles responded with their one
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: normal looking drive of the night. They ran the ball well,
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: Saquon had a couple of nice carries. Aj Brown had
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: had a big slant and the red zone got her
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: Like it just looked like a normal drive for once
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: and they got in. Other than that, like, I didn't
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: blame the Lions for going it on fourth down. It
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: wouldn't have mattered either way because they were trying to
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: win the game. The problem was that they were just
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: bad on first, second, third, and fourth down. They're getting
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: dominated offensively. But here's what the Lions defense did, and
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: this is a little bit of positivity for Detroit and
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: those five turnover and downs. The Eagles had a total
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: of six first downs in the five drives coming off
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: of it, and they got six points you know, you know,
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: two field goals on some relatively short fields Like that
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: was not the difference in this game. The difference is
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: the Eagles defense is just awesome. And more power to
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: them because I do think there's a route to them
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: figuring out this offense and they are.
- 1:46:35Speaker 8: It's the same story that they had last year.
- 1:46:37Speaker 18: It was Week thirteen and they couldn't figure it out,
- 1:46:39Speaker 18: and that's what they figured it out along the way
- 1:46:41Speaker 18: of riding their defense all.
- 1:46:42Speaker 8: The way to the Super Bowl.
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: Ooh, I love it. These NFC North games down the
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: stretch are going to be spicy and Philadelphia. We talked
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: about like the schedule getting through this gauntlet the Green
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: Bay Detroit. Here they still have some tough games with
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: the Bears and the Chargers and the Bills, but they
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: also have three or four just games that you can
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: chalk up as victories, like the two games against the
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: Commanders and the Raiders. You have the Cowboys this week.
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: We'll see like it's really hard to not see them
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: winning fourteen fifteen type of games. So here we go.
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: Nice Sunday. I'm really looking at this AFC and I'm
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: seeing the two thousand and five AFC standings. The Broncos.
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: The Broncos, the Patriots, the Steelers, and the Colts are
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: the top four teams. Those were the top four teams
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: in slightly different order back in two thousand and five
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: when Jake Plummer was getting it done and Peyton Manning
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: got has won Super Bowl for the Colts. So it's
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: all setting up for a big week. We'll have Monday
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: Night football Cowboys and Raiders, Shookie and I on YouTube,
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: so join us live after the game. We're gonna make
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: that sing. We're gonna add some spicy segments shook. I
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: don't even know what it'll be. To add even more
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: spice to what hopefully is a fun game, Cowboys Raiders
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: on Monday Night to wrap up a big time week.
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: Eleven We will see them
