- 0:56Speaker 3: You are a guy. You are wise wise.
- 1:00Speaker 5: Guy, wise guy.
- 1:02Speaker 3: We did it. Yeah, I don't take it whichever way
- 1:07Speaker 3: you want. That might be the high water mark of
- 1:09Speaker 3: this episode. I don't know what to tell you, guys.
- 1:11Speaker 5: It's got to get better.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Gotta get better. Come on, how are you today? Pal?
- 1:16Speaker 4: You know I am doing okay. Thank you for asking.
- 1:20Speaker 4: I'm a little sleepy. So we went and did the
- 1:25Speaker 4: Clay County Fair and Spencer Iowa.
- 1:27Speaker 5: The other night.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Dude, how was it?
- 1:30Speaker 5: It was a bunch of fun.
- 1:33Speaker 4: This was cool because like pre sing Off, the Clay
- 1:36Speaker 4: County Fair and Spencer, Iowa was like our we've made
- 1:41Speaker 4: it moment, Like this was like the biggest county fair.
- 1:45Speaker 3: It's huge.
- 1:46Speaker 4: It was huge and like we'd always look forward to
- 1:49Speaker 4: performing there. We'd always just be in like a little tent,
- 1:53Speaker 4: but there was always people.
- 1:54Speaker 3: You performed for. Like quite a bit, is what I
- 1:57Speaker 3: feel like between the two you like, I don't know,
- 2:01Speaker 3: two dozen times or something. Maybe more than that. I
- 2:04Speaker 3: don't even know at this point a lot.
- 2:07Speaker 4: But it had been a long time since we'd been back,
- 2:09Speaker 4: that's at the fair. We've been in Spencer before, but
- 2:12Speaker 4: not at the fair, and this time we we.
- 2:16Speaker 5: Got upgraded to the grand stand. Maybe I didn't do that.
- 2:20Speaker 3: I love that for you.
- 2:21Speaker 4: That's great and organically like we didn't have anything to
- 2:26Speaker 4: do with it. Maggie Baw opened up for us, which was.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Like the you guys didn't know when you said that.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I was like, oh, they must have just been like, hey,
- 2:35Speaker 3: come on down, that's no wild.
- 2:37Speaker 4: They asked her to open and it was like, yeah,
- 2:40Speaker 4: I actually know those guys really well.
- 2:42Speaker 3: So it was because they knew, like she'd opened for
- 2:46Speaker 3: you or anything.
- 2:48Speaker 5: I don't know about that.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Well, either way, that's cool, and it was super fun too,
- 2:53Speaker 3: like that's fun.
- 2:54Speaker 4: Yeah, she's killing it minute. She's doing a great job.
- 2:57Speaker 5: That's so fun. Well great, but kind of a late
- 3:01Speaker 5: night for me.
- 3:03Speaker 4: So we didn't go on until eight thirty, and really
- 3:06Speaker 4: we didn't get on till like eight forty because Maggie.
- 3:09Speaker 5: Went a little long.
- 3:11Speaker 4: Well she's a rock with She's something we almost never do, which.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Is not what we excel at more are interested in
- 3:19Speaker 3: at this point in our career.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Yep.
- 3:22Speaker 4: So but yeah, it was pretty late and then it
- 3:26Speaker 4: was a three and a half hour drive back and
- 3:30Speaker 4: I've been it's been taken.
- 3:31Speaker 5: That was two nights ago.
- 3:34Speaker 4: And I'm old, dude, it's hard for me to come
- 3:37Speaker 4: back from that.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Imagine like I don't know, ten years ago, we'd have
- 3:41Speaker 3: done that, like a breeze would have been like doing
- 3:44Speaker 3: what an easy evening that's now I'd be dead for
- 3:48Speaker 3: a week.
- 3:49Speaker 4: And I got in at two am and was probably
- 3:53Speaker 4: sleeping around like two thirty maybe. And I remember, you know,
- 3:58Speaker 4: like after college when we were living in Uptown, like
- 4:02Speaker 4: we wouldn't even go to the bar until like midnight sometimes, right,
- 4:07Speaker 4: So yeah, perspectives have changed.
- 4:11Speaker 3: And you also probably didn't sleep till noon or whatever, right, so.
- 4:15Speaker 5: Right, there was that. However, Kelsey was awesome and let
- 4:18Speaker 5: me sleep in.
- 4:19Speaker 4: She took care of the kids and like she was
- 4:23Speaker 4: the best dude, and she kept him quiet, which I
- 4:25Speaker 4: don't know how she did that.
- 4:27Speaker 3: That Yeah, I don't know. I just kidding, but God
- 4:35Speaker 3: in the basement. She actually kicked them out of the home.
- 4:38Speaker 3: That was the only thing we thought could work.
- 4:42Speaker 4: I did all that to say, I've been a little
- 4:45Speaker 4: sleepy the last couple days.
- 4:46Speaker 3: I had a good crowdough and everything we did.
- 4:49Speaker 5: Yeah, it was really fun.
- 4:50Speaker 4: I was surprised it was a Monday night, so it
- 4:52Speaker 4: was during the Monday night football game.
- 4:54Speaker 5: That was a bummer.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Because I only got to see the first half, which
- 4:58Speaker 4: was horrible.
- 4:59Speaker 3: That's the worst have to see rap.
- 5:01Speaker 5: It was really bad.
- 5:02Speaker 3: It never went through the text thread we were on because.
- 5:05Speaker 5: It was not There was like forty five texts.
- 5:08Speaker 4: It was fair and at one time I just saw,
- 5:11Speaker 4: I'm so jealous.
- 5:12Speaker 5: That Rob doesn't have to sit through this game.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Yeah, and then I think at the end of the
- 5:18Speaker 3: night that was like Rob, don't bother reading this, it
- 5:21Speaker 3: was all positivity or Brandon said that, yeah, yeah, ninety
- 5:24Speaker 3: minutes of positivity nowhere.
- 5:26Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, so.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Yeah, well very cool. Anyway, should we talk some movies.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Let's talk some movies. What was the last movie you watched?
- 5:38Speaker 3: Last movie I watched was a little film called cot Ceiling.
- 5:44Speaker 3: Oh cool. Yeah, this was the air Enough Ski film feature.
- 5:49Speaker 5: I didn't realize that.
- 5:50Speaker 4: Actually I didn't.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Either until we saw it, and that actually until the credits,
- 5:55Speaker 3: and I was like, oh, gotcha, got you, gotcha. Austin
- 5:59Speaker 3: Butler's in. Regina King is in this, so cravits h
- 6:04Speaker 3: a fun little rop. David ten Wait, I that guy's
- 6:08Speaker 3: not Nope, it's Matt Smith. I always screw up the doctors.
- 6:11Speaker 3: It's Matt Smith every time I do. Yeah, it was wrong,
- 6:17Speaker 3: but yeah, I went to the theater watched this. It's
- 6:19Speaker 3: about a sort of troubled young man in New York City.
- 6:24Speaker 3: He gets like caught up in a buddy's you know,
- 6:27Speaker 3: like undertill doing some like nefarious things with with bad people.
- 6:33Speaker 3: It's said in nineties New York, which was kind of fun.
- 6:35Speaker 3: It's kind of grungey New York, you know, like messy. Yeah, yeah,
- 6:42Speaker 3: right right, Yeah, and uh yeah, it was a pretty
- 6:46Speaker 3: good film. It wasn't like my favorite film of all time.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Definitely a dark comedy. It had some really funny parts
- 6:52Speaker 3: to it, but it was really yucky in spots, like
- 6:57Speaker 3: just really gory in spots. Uh, pretty violent, and then
- 7:02Speaker 3: just just like one of those movies we've talked about
- 7:04Speaker 3: it before. It's not that no one was redeemable, but
- 7:07Speaker 3: like nothing great happens. It kind of just is like
- 7:11Speaker 3: kind of a bummer the whole way through, with like
- 7:14Speaker 3: a little bit of comedy showing around the edges, you
- 7:17Speaker 3: know what I mean. So it's like it's just kind
- 7:19Speaker 3: of dark and gritty. Austin Baller is really good. Strangely,
- 7:24Speaker 3: it was funny. Dave and I went to it, and
- 7:27Speaker 3: afterwards we were both like, Regina King is awesome. She
- 7:31Speaker 3: wasn't very good in this, Like I don't know if
- 7:33Speaker 3: they gave her bad stuff to do or what, but
- 7:36Speaker 3: she was kind of always good cartoony or something. It
- 7:39Speaker 3: was strange. I don't know, maybe we just had a
- 7:41Speaker 3: bad taste in her mouth or something. I don't know. Cool,
- 7:45Speaker 3: but yeah, I thought it was pretty fun. I wouldn't say,
- 7:48Speaker 3: like go kill yourself to go watch it or anything
- 7:50Speaker 3: like that. What are the other Aeronofski films he does,
- 7:53Speaker 3: like a bunch of weird stuff.
- 7:55Speaker 5: Well, he did. Black Swan is his biggest.
- 7:58Speaker 3: And I did like black Swan sort of a dream.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Yeah, re Quiem for a Dream will make you feel
- 8:06Speaker 4: so grown. Yeah, so I gets yucky yucky.
- 8:09Speaker 3: It's pretty in line with other stuffies do I guess? Yeah,
- 8:13Speaker 3: but he did. He did. It was either.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Noah or Robin Hood. It was one of those Russell Crowe.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Both of those sucked so hard.
- 8:21Speaker 4: Yeah, they weren't good, but I don't remember which one
- 8:24Speaker 4: it was.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Robin Hood's one you and I saw together, right, and
- 8:28Speaker 3: we were like.
- 8:29Speaker 5: I don't care about any of these people.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Like three quarters of the way through, like, oh yeah, Noah.
- 8:37Speaker 5: Was also bad, And I think that's the one that
- 8:40Speaker 5: was that the one he did.
- 8:41Speaker 3: I think, yeah, I just did dig it. But you
- 8:44Speaker 3: might really like it, especially if you like sort of
- 8:46Speaker 3: that you know, gangstery, dark comedy stuff. This one didn't
- 8:51Speaker 3: really do it, but it's definitely not bad. And Austin
- 8:55Speaker 3: Butler's pretty good at it. I feel like he's always
- 8:57Speaker 3: at least pretty good.
- 9:00Speaker 4: Does he still sound like Elvis. I feel like he
- 9:02Speaker 4: was he got so much crap for that.
- 9:05Speaker 3: I'm gonna be honest, I don't really remember, but boy
- 9:09Speaker 3: does he look good. He takes his shirt off pretty
- 9:10Speaker 3: early in this movie, and my heaven, man is cut.
- 9:16Speaker 3: I mean he's muscular, all right. We didn't see the
- 9:19Speaker 3: rest of it. I don't know. That was pretty fun.
- 9:23Speaker 3: I don't know. It was a good time, not like
- 9:25Speaker 3: an amazing time, but pretty good. Okay, how about you,
- 9:27Speaker 3: what's the last movie you watched?
- 9:30Speaker 4: Mine was amazing at an amazing time. I went and
- 9:33Speaker 4: checked out The Naked Gun. Pretty sure you talked about
- 9:38Speaker 4: this already. Hell yeah, I loved this movie so fun right,
- 9:44Speaker 4: It really felt like the old Ones. It had that
- 9:47Speaker 4: same silly tone. Liam Neeson was perfect in the Frank
- 9:52Speaker 4: Drebon role. Pamela Anderson was so much fun she I
- 9:57Speaker 4: thought she was fiting there perfect.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Uh.
- 10:01Speaker 4: She had a scatting scene that was so funny that
- 10:05Speaker 4: blew my mind.
- 10:05Speaker 3: It was so funny, Like it was so silly. They
- 10:08Speaker 3: did the thing where they like I did it it
- 10:11Speaker 3: like was kind of getting old, and then they did
- 10:13Speaker 3: it longer.
- 10:14Speaker 4: And it was like, you know, and it was so
- 10:17Speaker 4: clearly her doing it, which I loved, I know.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Because like, why do we need if it's that, why
- 10:23Speaker 3: do we need her to make it up? Like, just
- 10:25Speaker 3: let me see what it is. Yeah, I loved it.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Some of the puns and the plays on words are
- 10:31Speaker 4: so fun.
- 10:31Speaker 3: I love God. So yeah, talking about butts or something
- 10:36Speaker 3: that made me laugh real hard. Yeah, dude, Now, but
- 10:40Speaker 3: it was funny.
- 10:42Speaker 4: He said something to the effect of he wished he
- 10:47Speaker 4: was a toilet seat and hoped for brown.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Yeah, like what I died.
- 10:55Speaker 4: I was gone for like five minutes. Yeah, I saw
- 10:59Speaker 4: it by myself. Was laughing so hard by myself. I
- 11:05Speaker 4: thought Paul Walter Houser was a super fun casting.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Choice was great.
- 11:11Speaker 5: Yeah, he loved that guy.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Yeah, so I was.
- 11:15Speaker 4: I was laughing out loud by myself, which means I
- 11:17Speaker 4: thought it was very funny. A huge fan, and I
- 11:20Speaker 4: hope they keep making these. It sounds like it's doing
- 11:23Speaker 4: pretty well.
- 11:23Speaker 3: I don't know why they wouldn't. I think people liked it.
- 11:25Speaker 3: I think it. Yeah, I think it made some money,
- 11:27Speaker 3: so yeah, hopefully so fingers crossed. That's funny, dude, I
- 11:31Speaker 3: love it.
- 11:32Speaker 5: Have you been streaming anything fun Yeah?
- 11:34Speaker 3: I streamed something upon your recommendation. I saw the Thursday
- 11:39Speaker 3: murder claw Bah, tell me what you thought. I liked
- 11:44Speaker 3: it quite a bit. I thought it was real fun,
- 11:46Speaker 3: real sweet. Oh. I didn't even rate it. What a
- 11:49Speaker 3: silly good sam. I'll excuse me a hiccup.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Uh.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Helen Mirren is still gorgeous and wonderful and the best.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Pierce was great in sort of a different role, though,
- 12:02Speaker 3: I thought was really fun. Kingsley was super fun. I
- 12:05Speaker 3: really liked that. I think you said Celia Ibria was
- 12:09Speaker 3: like the lead. I liked her a lot. I also
- 12:11Speaker 3: hadn't really seen her anything. She was in those movies
- 12:15Speaker 3: with Joe Broadbent where they were like little tiny people
- 12:19Speaker 3: or whatever, the like the in Betweeners or something.
- 12:23Speaker 5: The oh, I don't think I ever saw that.
- 12:25Speaker 3: I could probably look it up. Hold on, please old once.
- 12:28Speaker 5: I might have been the in between Ers.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Is that what it was.
- 12:31Speaker 5: That's definitely a title of.
- 12:33Speaker 3: A movie where they were like little right.
- 12:36Speaker 5: I never saw it.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Hold on, We're almost there, boy, We're getting close. This
- 12:41Speaker 3: is fun. I say I'm gonna cut it, but I won't.
- 12:48Speaker 3: I can't immediately find it. Let's just pretend I got
- 12:52Speaker 3: all right. She's been in so many things. My god.
- 13:01Speaker 4: Yeah, most of her stuff, it looked like, was kind
- 13:03Speaker 4: of BBC like brush stuff, and I just haven't seen
- 13:07Speaker 4: a lot of that stuff for sure. But she was
- 13:10Speaker 4: pretty perfectly cast in that.
- 13:12Speaker 3: I kind of loved her.
- 13:13Speaker 4: I loved her too, and to like hold her own
- 13:16Speaker 4: with those three like megastars. I was into it.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Yeah, overall, Like I said, I really thought it was
- 13:23Speaker 3: a ton of fun. Like you said, I thought it
- 13:25Speaker 3: was pretty like whimsical while still being sort of suspenseful
- 13:29Speaker 3: and all those things just some ritual people, you know,
- 13:33Speaker 3: trying to have a nice time. I really enjoyed it.
- 13:36Speaker 3: I thought it was fine. It was like a fun
- 13:38Speaker 3: white lotus kind of you know, like yeah, kind of
- 13:42Speaker 3: like I can see how the other half lives a
- 13:44Speaker 3: little bit. But man, that that Celia Amory was fun.
- 13:49Speaker 3: She was just such a like her little devilish grid
- 13:52Speaker 3: and she would get when she was kind of breaking
- 13:54Speaker 3: the rules and stuff. I really thought that was fun.
- 13:57Speaker 4: And Richard Osmond, who wrote those books, uh, just her
- 14:01Speaker 4: whole character is just so fun. And I thought that
- 14:04Speaker 4: that actress really tapped into it. They all did, like
- 14:07Speaker 4: they all were great.
- 14:09Speaker 3: I was also happy to because didn't you say like
- 14:11Speaker 3: you thought this was sort of the weakest story or whatever.
- 14:15Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, but I also think you just get more
- 14:20Speaker 4: involved with the characters and you just like really get
- 14:23Speaker 4: into those Yeah.
- 14:26Speaker 5: So yeah, I don't know.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Maybe it's not any better plot wise, but I certainly
- 14:30Speaker 4: I hope that they keep doing them because I really
- 14:32Speaker 4: enjoy it.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Will chemistry why not, I don't know, but it's probably
- 14:37Speaker 3: not cheap to get all those fine people in a
- 14:39Speaker 3: movie together. But I really, I really enjoyed it a lot.
- 14:43Speaker 3: I'm with you, so nice. Check it out. I think
- 14:47Speaker 3: that was a Netflix one, right, it is Netflix, yep,
- 14:50Speaker 3: so go check it out. It's it's for sure like
- 14:53Speaker 3: a Friday night. You're gonna have a nice time, you know. Yeah,
- 14:55Speaker 3: a little mystery, a little fun, some silly humor.
- 14:59Speaker 4: And highly wrecked in the books. And they yes, they have.
- 15:02Speaker 3: A fifth one coming out at the end of September,
- 15:04Speaker 3: which there are four of them and a fifth. Wow. Yeah,
- 15:07Speaker 3: I'm going to read those at some point, I feel like,
- 15:09Speaker 3: because I feel like this would be a fun read.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Yeah, but they really stayed close to that plot. So
- 15:16Speaker 4: exactly what happened?
- 15:17Speaker 3: What's the title of this one?
- 15:19Speaker 4: Rob or just the one was yeah, that was just
- 15:22Speaker 4: Thursday Murder Class.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Maybe I'll start with second one. Maybe I'll start with
- 15:26Speaker 3: have you been streaming?
- 15:27Speaker 5: To ask you that you have not.
- 15:31Speaker 4: I watched another series while I was in China, and
- 15:35Speaker 4: this was the new Mic Judge animated show on HBO
- 15:39Speaker 4: Max called Common Side Effects.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Oh yeah, how is it? It is pretty great, dude? Nice? Yeah,
- 15:46Speaker 3: I saw that a couple of times. That's fun.
- 15:48Speaker 4: It is not your typical Mic Judge project that's filled
- 15:51Speaker 4: with jokes. There's some humor, uh, and the characters are
- 15:56Speaker 4: all very entertaining. That's usually that's kind of where the
- 15:59Speaker 4: humor comes in. Is just its kind of kind of
- 16:02Speaker 4: crazy characters. But it's a very interesting plot. It's it's
- 16:07Speaker 4: about a guy who's found a magical mushroom that can
- 16:11Speaker 4: cure pretty much anything that.
- 16:12Speaker 5: Ails you weird.
- 16:16Speaker 4: But then like Big Pharma gets involved and is like,
- 16:20Speaker 4: we got to like suppress this because it'll ruin our
- 16:23Speaker 4: industry pretty much.
- 16:25Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 16:26Speaker 4: It's called Common Side Effects, and there's it's an interesting animation.
- 16:35Speaker 4: It does have some weird visuals and stuff, but yeah,
- 16:39Speaker 4: I thought it was really well done. I enjoyed it
- 16:42Speaker 4: a lot. It makes you think a bit too, which
- 16:45Speaker 4: is fun. They weren't super long episodes. I think they're
- 16:50Speaker 4: aund a half hour. It was very quick for me.
- 16:53Speaker 4: I watched most of them on a on a bullet
- 16:56Speaker 4: train to Shanghai.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Nice. Yeah, as one does, right, that's one does. Yeah,
- 17:02Speaker 3: very cool.
- 17:04Speaker 5: I would recommend I like it nice.
- 17:05Speaker 3: I love to check that out. Ah, what do you thinks
- 17:08Speaker 3: you would do for you plugs?
- 17:10Speaker 5: Yeah, let's plug it.

- 17:40Speaker 5: So hello to.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Marsha Griziak, Mary Fox, Nanette Walkley, Johan Brostaed deb Olk
- 17:48Speaker 4: and Noaehl Flores. You guys, you're great, the best big
- 17:51Speaker 4: fans of you guys. Another perk we like to give
- 17:55Speaker 4: our patrons is an extended version of every episode that
- 17:58Speaker 4: we put out. Usually do a top five draft that
- 18:02Speaker 4: pertains to the movie where chit chatting about, and for
- 18:07Speaker 4: this one, we decided to do our top five favorite
- 18:12Speaker 4: Robert De Niro films.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Gonna be a blood bath.
- 18:16Speaker 4: It's gonna be a blood bath, you know in hindsight, Yeah,
- 18:20Speaker 4: I feel like, since it's just gonna be me and you,
- 18:22Speaker 4: we probably could have just done our favorite Scorsese films.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Yeah, that's probably true. I can probably pivot.
- 18:29Speaker 4: At some point because dude, I have seen roughly fifty
- 18:35Speaker 4: five Robert De Niro films.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Like, it's crazy that many. I ranked twenty five and
- 18:40Speaker 3: then I was like, right, I don't need I'm good.
- 18:43Speaker 4: Right, Yeah, it turns out he did a lot and
- 18:47Speaker 4: some of them are not very good.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Well, let's switch it. I don't know if have I
- 18:51Speaker 3: seen ten Scorsese is probably right. I feel like I
- 18:56Speaker 3: we talked about probably have.
- 18:59Speaker 5: Scorc a fifth.
- 19:02Speaker 4: But you know what, let's let's talk about that once
- 19:04Speaker 4: we get to our top five drafts.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Right, you're right, we'll see.
- 19:07Speaker 4: So it's either going to be Scorsese or De Niro
- 19:10Speaker 4: either way, it's gonna be it's gonna be great.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Scorching hot, scorching, hot, scorching. We started out with a
- 19:17Speaker 3: broader topic because we're going to have a pal on
- 19:19Speaker 3: with us. But uh, he got on the line. We
- 19:21Speaker 3: had to whack him. I don't know what. He needed
- 19:24Speaker 3: to get whacked, waxed, waxed. Sorry I said the wrong.
- 19:28Speaker 3: He had to get waxed.
- 19:30Speaker 5: No, you get whacked.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Oh, I thought he was.
- 19:33Speaker 4: I thought he had a thought carriage like Kelly Clarkson
- 19:38Speaker 4: going on.
- 19:39Speaker 3: I thought for the speed of that, good call, good call.
- 19:45Speaker 3: I don't know what we're doing, but I like it.
- 19:48Speaker 3: We still love Segi. But some stuff came out. You're
- 19:53Speaker 3: calling him out. I'll cut it out. No, I wont,
- 19:57Speaker 3: I don't know, No, I won. It's stuff came and
- 20:00Speaker 3: then we were like, we'd have one alternative for you.
- 20:04Speaker 4: Yeah, things start to get really ramped up in my schedule,
- 20:08Speaker 4: our schedules for sure, and yeah it we kind of
- 20:13Speaker 4: had to do it tonight and he couldn't do it.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Yeah, so send him some fo send him some hate mail. Yeah,
- 20:20Speaker 3: and also tell him good luck with the waxing. A
- 20:23Speaker 3: fantastic but we're here today, rob to talk about good.
- 20:27Speaker 5: Fellas, good fellas.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Which I'm very excited about. What shoot at least forget
- 20:32Speaker 3: to look it's nineteen ninety so this is thirty five.
- 20:36Speaker 5: Years, thirty fifth anniversary.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Damn, damn will you get U started with a rough synopsis.
- 20:44Speaker 4: Absolutely Henry Hill knows only too well that he must
- 20:48Speaker 4: put the mob's interests before everything, even his family. But
- 20:54Speaker 4: when the good times turn sour, his loyalties dissolve in
- 20:58Speaker 4: the face of greaters. Faced with a terrible retribution, he'll
- 21:04Speaker 4: can see only one way to get out alive.
- 21:08Speaker 3: What is it? What? What is you know? You've seen it?
- 21:15Speaker 3: You that was great? Great read, great read. I'll take
- 21:18Speaker 3: rotten tomatoes now. Critics have this coming in at a
- 21:21Speaker 3: rock solid ninety four percent.
- 21:24Speaker 5: Boom or solid pretty close.
- 21:27Speaker 3: To necessary roughness, which we just did. Audience members even
- 21:32Speaker 3: a tick above that at ninety seven beloved. I love it.
- 21:38Speaker 3: But it's time to hear what we think. Shall we
- 21:40Speaker 3: give them our hot take?
- 21:42Speaker 1: That's a hot take.
- 21:44Speaker 5: That's a hot take.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Hot take, sauce, probably spicy, it's a spicy I mean
- 21:50Speaker 3: to both nice love it. I can go first on this.
- 21:55Speaker 3: I love this movie a ton I think this was
- 21:58Speaker 3: sort of the first big gangster movie I ever watched, sure,
- 22:04Speaker 3: because I feel like every trope I know about gangsters
- 22:08Speaker 3: happens in this movie. I guess I just think it's
- 22:11Speaker 3: super well active. There's obviously a ton of really great
- 22:14Speaker 3: people in it. It is. I love that it shows
- 22:18Speaker 3: all sides of the experience, like both their their monstrosity
- 22:22Speaker 3: sides and also their you know, their fun loving sides.
- 22:25Speaker 3: They're just very jocular at points, their kids, they're dumb,
- 22:29Speaker 3: they're scared, all the things right. We really get a
- 22:32Speaker 3: whole taste of like the whole life, which I find
- 22:35Speaker 3: really fun, and I think it just has a really
- 22:38Speaker 3: great through line. I guess I won't talk about you
- 22:43Speaker 3: know where I rank it in Scorsese films, because we
- 22:46Speaker 3: like Yeah Later, but it's likely pretty high up there
- 22:50Speaker 3: for me. Honestly, for sure, I really love it. Scorsese
- 22:53Speaker 3: does a lot of really fun things in it. I
- 22:56Speaker 3: love the like narration voiceover stuff. I think it works
- 22:59Speaker 3: super effective in this movie and honestly most movies I
- 23:03Speaker 3: like that unless it's really what was the one we
- 23:06Speaker 3: did recently, Oh the Replacements, where they made it real
- 23:11Speaker 3: serious at the end with the voice that was just
- 23:14Speaker 3: kind of funny, but that generally works for me. He
- 23:18Speaker 3: loves like a freeze frame on a shot in this movie.
- 23:22Speaker 3: I didn't remember there were quite so many of those.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Uh.
- 23:25Speaker 3: They were actually pretty great though, and sort of worked
- 23:28Speaker 3: as like moments of you know, introspection or whatever. But yeah, overall,
- 23:34Speaker 3: I just think this movie is pretty fun. It's a
- 23:37Speaker 3: good time. There's like a crazy amount of people learn
- 23:39Speaker 3: it from, both like superstars down to you know, lesser
- 23:44Speaker 3: actors that well, not lesser actors, but lesser known actors
- 23:47Speaker 3: that we have seen in a bunch of other stuff. Totally,
- 23:50Speaker 3: the music in the second half of it is really
- 23:52Speaker 3: fun and cool, really great. Yeah. I just like it
- 23:59Speaker 3: a lot. I think it's really fun. I don't even
- 24:01Speaker 3: really have a hot take for you on this one.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Hot take. Uh, Peci probably not a great guy, Peshi
- 24:12Speaker 3: or the character. The character's probably a real.
- 24:15Speaker 4: Man, Okay, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I was gonna say, that's
- 24:18Speaker 4: those are.
- 24:19Speaker 3: We're like a couple removed from him, right, we can't
- 24:21Speaker 3: be talking about that. He's our good I know that.
- 24:24Speaker 5: I was like, that is a hot take.
- 24:28Speaker 3: Here's my hot take. I have a personal issue Joe.
- 24:33Speaker 3: He owes me money and I'm coming for you.
- 24:37Speaker 4: Joe, watch out, Joe.
- 24:40Speaker 3: You don't have to watch out, Joe. It's fine. I'm
- 24:43Speaker 3: a lover, not a fighter. Yeah. I don't really have
- 24:46Speaker 3: a hot take. I don't know.
- 24:47Speaker 4: That's fine, that's fine. That was a great take, buddy. Yeah,
- 24:52Speaker 4: this is an incredible movie. I'm not going out.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Pretty good.
- 24:58Speaker 4: It's pretty darn good. So good that it's in the
- 25:02Speaker 4: IMDb Top two fifty. It's number seventeen.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Damn and it's pretty old, so like that's withstood the test, yep, exactly.
- 25:11Speaker 4: It was nominated for six Oscars, winning one for a
- 25:15Speaker 4: Best Supporting Actor for Joe pesci who buges has even
- 25:19Speaker 4: detta again.
- 25:20Speaker 3: That a great dude.
- 25:24Speaker 4: It lost Best Picture and Director to Kevin Costner for
- 25:27Speaker 4: Dances with Wolves, And I feel like this is one
- 25:32Speaker 4: of those Best Picture winners that you don't really care
- 25:36Speaker 4: if you see again, at least Dances with Wolves. Yeah,
- 25:40Speaker 4: like you recognize that it's really well done, but then
- 25:43Speaker 4: you can go and watch Goodfellas over and over and over.
- 25:46Speaker 5: And I felt like it.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Deserved it more than that.
- 25:50Speaker 5: But that's just me.
- 25:51Speaker 3: I wish we gave like a I think thanksually this
- 25:54Speaker 3: might be a Bill Simmons bit, but like a like
- 25:56Speaker 3: a ten years later, what's the movie still Rewatch award
- 26:01Speaker 3: or something, you know what I mean?
- 26:03Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, like Shakespeare in Love with saving private.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Rights, right, you know, it's it's just kind of fun.
- 26:11Speaker 4: Yeah, but yeah, it's it's also crazy that Scorsese didn't
- 26:17Speaker 4: win Best Director because he pulled out all the stops
- 26:20Speaker 4: in this, with the long camera shots that I'm a
- 26:23Speaker 4: sucker for. We know that so many this too, yeah,
- 26:26Speaker 4: oh so good. The breaking of the fourth wall, like
- 26:29Speaker 4: you said, the narration, the music he chose for the montages.
- 26:34Speaker 4: It felt like every shot was intentional and he did
- 26:40Speaker 4: just a masterful job. I think this is the quintessential
- 26:46Speaker 4: gangster movie. It effectively shows the glamor of it and
- 26:50Speaker 4: how horrific that that life can be. Like you said,
- 26:55Speaker 4: all these actors were incredible, just incredible. I was shocked
- 26:59Speaker 4: at how many actors then ended up in Sopranos later on.
- 27:03Speaker 3: That's pretty wild. I mean I haven't watched it, but
- 27:07Speaker 3: even I.
- 27:08Speaker 4: You know, I watched Sopranos and so just going through
- 27:14Speaker 4: I was like it just little roles in this, like
- 27:17Speaker 4: oh that's another guy, Like oh.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Well, I guess it's another Italian dude.
- 27:21Speaker 4: Then, Yeah, so that was a trip. Sure, I'll give
- 27:26Speaker 4: you a hot take. Hit me with the hot take.
- 27:29Speaker 4: This is one of the very few times, okay, where
- 27:32Speaker 4: every character is horrible. There's no one to root for,
- 27:37Speaker 4: and I love this movie.
- 27:39Speaker 3: That's a super good point because usually we're like, I
- 27:42Speaker 3: don't like any.
- 27:43Speaker 4: I don't like Everybody's like, who do I root for?
- 27:47Speaker 3: I can't like. That's why I didn't like Yellowstone.
- 27:49Speaker 4: Yeah, but I love this movie and there's not one
- 27:54Speaker 4: redeemable character in this whole film.
- 27:57Speaker 3: I like that a lot.
- 27:58Speaker 5: I think that's a hot take, pal, Yeah, hot hot take.
- 28:02Speaker 3: That it's better sweet one. Well, let's go through and
- 28:08Speaker 3: name our favorite acting performance. Shall we find the dude?
- 28:12Speaker 5: The dude?
- 28:13Speaker 6: I'm the dude, so that's what you call me, you
- 28:16Speaker 6: know that? Or his dudeness or duder or you know,
- 28:22Speaker 6: el dudo reno. If you're not into the whole brevity thing.
- 28:25Speaker 3: You want to go first. He had such a good
- 28:26Speaker 3: hot take. You got a good dude.
- 28:28Speaker 5: Yeah, I absolutely have a good dude.
- 28:30Speaker 4: It was such a good dude that he went and
- 28:32Speaker 4: won an Academy Award for it, even though you don't
- 28:35Speaker 4: like him personally, We're going to say, Joe Peshi as
- 28:40Speaker 4: Tommy what's his last a video? Tommy DeVito, just like
- 28:44Speaker 4: the quarterback It was on the Giants last year.
- 28:48Speaker 3: He was on the Giants.
- 28:49Speaker 5: Yeah, and he always had like his agent with.
- 28:51Speaker 3: The Is that actually his name, Tommy de Vito?
- 28:53Speaker 5: I think it's Tommy DeVito?
- 28:54Speaker 3: Thank goodness, he was fella.
- 28:57Speaker 4: Yeah, his folks loved that movie apparently I love it.
- 29:01Speaker 4: But yeah, such an amazing performance from Joe Peshi. He
- 29:05Speaker 4: does some diabolical stuff in this film, horrible stuff, but
- 29:11Speaker 4: you kind of like him.
- 29:12Speaker 3: Yeah, it's weird. It's weird.
- 29:13Speaker 4: How that how he's able to make that work is
- 29:17Speaker 4: pretty pretty nuts. He's funny, but he's also able to
- 29:21Speaker 4: make you hold your breath because you don't know when
- 29:23Speaker 4: he's going to fly off the handle or if he's
- 29:25Speaker 4: going to make a joke like you just don't know
- 29:28Speaker 4: which is That's such a fun role to play. I
- 29:33Speaker 4: don't think a lot of people could have pulled that
- 29:36Speaker 4: off as well as as Joe Peshi did. So, Yeah,
- 29:40Speaker 4: he was my clear dude in this movie.
- 29:44Speaker 3: I thought the same. I don't like the guy but
- 29:46Speaker 3: I think he's a fine actor. But I hope he
- 29:50Speaker 3: never hears this. I can't imagine he would. This is
- 29:54Speaker 3: not that funny bit. But you know that if you
- 29:57Speaker 3: listen to this show, Joe, you know, no, I totally
- 30:01Speaker 3: agree with you. The like the way he can tell
- 30:02Speaker 3: the line between like stark, raving mad and then you know,
- 30:08Speaker 3: like jocular and fun you know in the next second
- 30:11Speaker 3: is pretty great. Even when he shoots that kid, it's
- 30:14Speaker 3: kind of a you're like, this guy's nuts.
- 30:16Speaker 4: But okay, Michael imperially is such a huge part of
- 30:20Speaker 4: the Sopranos.
- 30:21Speaker 3: Such a wild yeah too, But yeah, I totally agree
- 30:27Speaker 3: with you. I think he's just wonderful in this and
- 30:28Speaker 3: I don't know anyone else that could have told the
- 30:30Speaker 3: line like that and also been so believable, because I
- 30:34Speaker 3: believe he probably does go to dinner and have these
- 30:38Speaker 3: same conversations. I don't think he shoots people, probably, but you.
- 30:41Speaker 4: Know what I mean, probably not, probably not Maybe.
- 30:43Speaker 3: Then again, he's a scoundrel, so who knows. But uh no,
- 30:48Speaker 3: I just I totally agree with you, and I don't
- 30:50Speaker 3: have a ton extra add other than I loved him. Yes,
- 30:53Speaker 3: it was really fun.
- 30:55Speaker 4: I think just in this same category, we should talk
- 30:58Speaker 4: about Ralio.
- 31:00Speaker 3: He was great.
- 31:00Speaker 4: I mean, he had to carry the film with extremely
- 31:05Speaker 4: talented actors. His narration was great as well as his performance.
- 31:12Speaker 4: I thought it was he starts off and he's just
- 31:15Speaker 4: like so handsome, and by the end he just looks
- 31:20Speaker 4: so strung out and stressed out.
- 31:23Speaker 5: It was quite the character arc for him.
- 31:25Speaker 3: I thought, a little bit.
- 31:27Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure, Yeah, but he had to he had
- 31:31Speaker 4: to do some heavy lifting and another guy that you
- 31:34Speaker 4: like kind of like even though.
- 31:36Speaker 3: He sucks, he sucks totally totally, No, I totally agree
- 31:42Speaker 3: with that, and he is a fun he's he's fun
- 31:45Speaker 3: with Joe Pesci because they are obviously very similar in
- 31:48Speaker 3: a lot of ways and obviously very different. And I
- 31:51Speaker 3: like the weird the way the like Paschi can be
- 31:54Speaker 3: made but no one else can if you're not one
- 31:56Speaker 3: hundred percent Italian, even though you know, Henry's probably the
- 32:00Speaker 3: one they would have picked because he's not as crazy
- 32:03Speaker 3: and he seems like he's smarter and you know, all
- 32:06Speaker 3: the things. But I'm not as loyal, though not as loyal,
- 32:10Speaker 3: but was he not as loyal because he couldn't be made,
- 32:13Speaker 3: you know, like it's that part of it. You know,
- 32:15Speaker 3: if it was maybe a different world, then he could
- 32:18Speaker 3: be more incorporated. Maybe yeah, maybe, but probably not. He
- 32:21Speaker 3: was kind of running his own side game the whole time.
- 32:24Speaker 3: So but yeah, I just I agree with you. I
- 32:28Speaker 3: think Reallyota was awesome in this, and yeah he really
- 32:32Speaker 3: goes down a whole path. But for sure, yeah, really fun.
- 32:37Speaker 5: Let's talk about man, so many people in this movie.
- 32:41Speaker 5: Let's go and pick that too.
- 32:43Speaker 3: Chi I g started off, brother, Well I had imperially
- 32:50Speaker 3: there for sure.
- 32:52Speaker 5: As your number one.
- 32:54Speaker 3: Well that's a good question, this one. There was so
- 32:56Speaker 3: many I didn't even Okay, you're right, I'll pick a
- 32:58Speaker 3: number one. Hold on, hold on, hold on, it's DeNiro
- 33:01Speaker 3: then if he's if we haven't talked about him, he's wonderful.
- 33:05Speaker 5: Well, haven't talked about him.
- 33:06Speaker 3: It's a smaller part, but he's really great in this.
- 33:09Speaker 3: I think kind of as the voice of reason at
- 33:12Speaker 3: times but also the like mad dog at times, which
- 33:16Speaker 3: is also pretty fun. Yeah, yeah, I don't know. I
- 33:20Speaker 3: loved him in this. I thought he was really really good.
- 33:23Speaker 4: The one thing I enjoyed about his performance, uh, you know,
- 33:28Speaker 4: DeNiro is one of the best to ever do it ever,
- 33:32Speaker 4: But for like being this ruthless gangster.
- 33:35Speaker 5: He kind of stepped out of the way and let
- 33:38Speaker 5: Raleo to and Joe PESHI like, really shine more.
- 33:41Speaker 3: No, wasn't that fun.
- 33:43Speaker 4: I felt like, you know, he definitely had his moments.
- 33:46Speaker 4: He had his his uh breaking down scene when he
- 33:51Speaker 4: hears that Tommy waxed, and.
- 33:57Speaker 3: I just got that.
- 33:58Speaker 4: I was a little late on that one, but yeah,
- 34:05Speaker 4: I mean he was.
- 34:05Speaker 3: He was so good.
- 34:07Speaker 4: I was actually gonna pick Lorraine Brocco as Karen.
- 34:12Speaker 3: She was awesome, huh.
- 34:14Speaker 5: I liked her a lot in this film.
- 34:17Speaker 4: She's pretty feisty in the beginning, doesn't take radiotas at all,
- 34:23Speaker 4: demands respect. When he goes out in the marriage and
- 34:27Speaker 4: isn't respecting her, she puts a gun in his face.
- 34:29Speaker 4: That scene was so intense. But dude, she gets used
- 34:34Speaker 4: to that lifestyle. She gets caught up in all of it,
- 34:37Speaker 4: and she's just as like strung out. And I feel
- 34:41Speaker 4: like maybe she wasn't actually in like doing all the things,
- 34:45Speaker 4: but I felt like she was just as complicit in everything.
- 34:48Speaker 3: She definitely was as close to, you know, a gangster
- 34:51Speaker 3: at the end as she could be too. You know. Yeah, Yeah,
- 34:55Speaker 3: I love almost waxed. I love the honesty. I love
- 34:59Speaker 3: the honesty when she's just like, but it's turned me on,
- 35:03Speaker 3: you know. I think that's because I think that's true
- 35:07Speaker 3: right for a lot of people in those situations where
- 35:09Speaker 3: you're like, well, but the power was intoxicating or whatever
- 35:12Speaker 3: the case may be. Yeah, yeah, I love that pick.
- 35:15Speaker 3: That's a super good pick.
- 35:16Speaker 4: But yeah, I love it a lot more people though.
- 35:19Speaker 4: Paul Sorvino my.
- 35:22Speaker 3: Runner up after those two.
- 35:23Speaker 4: For sure, he was great. You didn't have to do
- 35:28Speaker 4: a ton, but whenever he was out there, he like
- 35:30Speaker 4: crushed it.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Super believable, as like the big boss though, you know,
- 35:34Speaker 3: like right demanded respect. Yeah, like that a.
- 35:36Speaker 4: Lot, totally big time. It's really fun seeing Mike Starr. Yeah,
- 35:41Speaker 4: I think of for Dumb and Dumber. But we just
- 35:44Speaker 4: saw what did we just see him in? We just
- 35:47Speaker 4: saw him?
- 35:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't remember even what it was now.
- 35:51Speaker 4: Yeah, damn it not a good story.
- 35:53Speaker 3: No, but we mentioned him there too, We sure did.
- 35:59Speaker 5: That's I have for you.
- 36:04Speaker 4: So many other folks. I think he had his folks.
- 36:06Speaker 4: I think Scorsese had his folks in this.
- 36:08Speaker 3: He did. I think there's trivia about that. I can't
- 36:10Speaker 3: remember exactly who they are, but he must have.
- 36:13Speaker 4: Been Miller's crossing, Miller's cross he was in right.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Sorry, I was like, we really should remember.
- 36:19Speaker 4: Yep, he was Frankie and Miller's crossing. Good call, yeah,
- 36:25Speaker 4: but yeah, his mom was Joe Peshy's mom.
- 36:29Speaker 3: Yes, yes, like cook some food, that's right, and she's
- 36:32Speaker 3: so fun. And there was a bunch of scenes that
- 36:35Speaker 3: were improv to. I think that was in the trivia
- 36:37Speaker 3: as well, and I think that was one. Okay, so
- 36:39Speaker 3: that's kind of fun. Well, yeah, we'll get one that
- 36:43Speaker 3: later for sure. I thought it was fun that Frankie
- 36:48Speaker 3: Carboni is what he's called, but frank severa and only
- 36:54Speaker 3: funny because I recently watched Wedding Singer again and he's
- 36:58Speaker 3: Adam Sandler's brother in law and wedding singer. He's the
- 37:02Speaker 3: one that goes everyone swallow, should do this little nipple
- 37:06Speaker 3: thing and you know that gets to be turned on
- 37:07Speaker 3: at whatever has that little heart to heart with him
- 37:11Speaker 3: or whatever. But I was like, what a weird casting
- 37:15Speaker 3: to be in Wedding Singer after yeah, stuff like this,
- 37:19Speaker 3: you know, but I bet its probaying this Patrick. So
- 37:24Speaker 3: I loved seeing him. God, I don't know. I'm just
- 37:28Speaker 3: trying to think of it. Yeah, both the scorceces.
- 37:30Speaker 4: Like you said, Oh dude, Samuel L. Jackson a bit,
- 37:35Speaker 4: I forgot it completely honest, such a small role for him.
- 37:39Speaker 3: Loved him. That Debbie Mazar, She's fun and she showed
- 37:44Speaker 3: up in a few things, and I always think she's
- 37:46Speaker 3: pretty good. She's got a very like specific look to her.
- 37:49Speaker 3: She's very beautiful, but it's I don't even know what
- 37:51Speaker 3: it is about her that makes her different.
- 37:53Speaker 4: But I feel like I've seen her a lot, like
- 37:56Speaker 4: an agent, and she's like very New York and very
- 38:00Speaker 4: like yeah, usually BOSSI and things like that.
- 38:04Speaker 3: Yeah, but I thought she was fun. I don't know,
- 38:05Speaker 3: I really like seeing her in this neat mm hmmmm.
- 38:11Speaker 4: But yeah, dude, so many people from sopranos, Yeah, Michael
- 38:15Speaker 4: of imperially obviously Lorraine Brocco. There's just there's so many people,
- 38:22Speaker 4: so many funks.
- 38:23Speaker 3: I don't even know. Is there anyone else? We have
- 38:25Speaker 3: to say? No?
- 38:29Speaker 4: All right, I don't think so.
- 38:31Speaker 3: Well. Should we move on then and talk about our
- 38:33Speaker 3: favorite scene? Shall we name the dingas? The dingus sodas
- 38:39Speaker 3: is quite simple, really, Dingus Dingus. I could talk about
- 38:42Speaker 3: my dingas all night.
- 38:43Speaker 4: Long on this Yeah, dude, this one, I feel like
- 38:49Speaker 4: it's the most iconic of all the scenes. It's the
- 38:52Speaker 4: one you think of when you think of Goodfellas. It's
- 38:55Speaker 4: the funny how like clown good Man that's uncomfortable.
- 39:02Speaker 5: It's so uncomfortable. Such a great scene.
- 39:04Speaker 4: Joe Peshi goes from telling a funny story to bust
- 39:08Speaker 4: and Raliota's balls for telling him he thinks he's funny.
- 39:11Speaker 4: It's so intense, yes, but also funny. Everyone knows this
- 39:16Speaker 4: scene and I love that. Yeah, but I don't know
- 39:20Speaker 4: that's the one I wrote down. I'm with you one
- 39:22Speaker 4: hundred percent.
- 39:22Speaker 3: It's kind of weird because it's it it's pretty early
- 39:26Speaker 3: in the movie, but I totally agree. I think it is.
- 39:29Speaker 3: It's also sort of that like push pull between those
- 39:31Speaker 3: two characters, and then it kind of comes to a stalemate,
- 39:35Speaker 3: you know what I mean, Like they both are just
- 39:36Speaker 3: like all right whatever.
- 39:38Speaker 4: It's just yeah, But honestly, I kind of get why
- 39:42Speaker 4: he's like busting his chops a bit because Raleiote is laughing.
- 39:46Speaker 5: That is just maniacal, Like.
- 39:48Speaker 3: He is just crazy in this movie. A couple he
- 39:51Speaker 3: laughs with his whole body and just that. Yeah, there's
- 39:56Speaker 3: also that one that's as it's like a gift now
- 39:59Speaker 3: that send from time to time. It's him and de
- 40:02Speaker 3: Niro when they're just like Yu, that's probably it. It
- 40:07Speaker 3: might be that scene. Yeah, you're actually I think it's
- 40:09Speaker 3: that scene. Man, it's crazy, but I'm with you. He's
- 40:11Speaker 3: going wild, yeah wild in that. That's a great one.
- 40:18Speaker 3: I love the the explanation of dinner when they're in
- 40:23Speaker 3: prison scene. It's just really fun. I just really like
- 40:27Speaker 3: that scene a lot. I think it's really great. Yeah, yeah, no,
- 40:33Speaker 3: you know all the things I thought that. I love
- 40:35Speaker 3: that scene. I think it's really again, like the world
- 40:39Speaker 3: building in that and just like the exposition is really fun.
- 40:43Speaker 3: I also love you know, we didn't mention him young
- 40:46Speaker 3: ray Leota sure did a really good job. I thought,
- 40:49Speaker 3: what is that kid's name? Do we know?
- 40:52Speaker 5: Oh?
- 40:53Speaker 4: I don't. I didn't write that down.
- 40:54Speaker 3: Okay, he was great, go look him up on IMDb.
- 40:58Speaker 3: But I loved when he gets pinched for the first
- 41:00Speaker 3: time and they like goes to court and then ever
- 41:03Speaker 3: congratulates Hi when he gets out. I just thought that
- 41:05Speaker 3: was a really fun scene and it helped I felt
- 41:08Speaker 3: like it adds a lot to like how you can
- 41:12Speaker 3: get into being in a group.
- 41:14Speaker 4: Like this, you know, Yeah, it feels like a big
- 41:15Speaker 4: family totally.
- 41:16Speaker 3: And like so much camaraderie and they all like love
- 41:19Speaker 3: him in their own way obviously and everything. But yeah,
- 41:22Speaker 3: I really liked that.
- 41:23Speaker 4: I feel like that was when things were still and
- 41:25Speaker 4: maybe it was just because he was a kid and
- 41:26Speaker 4: he hadn't seen any of the stuff, but it felt
- 41:28Speaker 4: like things got well they do, They get so much
- 41:31Speaker 4: more intense and so much more.
- 41:34Speaker 5: Maybe they weren't like that when he.
- 41:35Speaker 3: Was a kid, but they probably were, Yeah, or he
- 41:37Speaker 3: just didn't see it. Is that what we're probably probably believing. Yeah, Yeah,
- 41:42Speaker 3: but yeah, I love that scene that they were. Both
- 41:44Speaker 3: of those are really fun. I have a couple more,
- 41:48Speaker 3: But do you have any more runners out?
- 41:50Speaker 4: Absolutely? I do the Copa Gabana one shot. Oh that
- 41:54Speaker 4: is so sick, dude. I always love a one shot
- 41:58Speaker 4: that follows Henry and Karen out. I had the club
- 42:00Speaker 4: going all the way through the kitchen. He's chatting everybody up.
- 42:05Speaker 4: He even kind of like hits a counter at one point.
- 42:08Speaker 4: It's got to keep going. It's all very believable. But yeah,
- 42:13Speaker 4: those are just the amount of prep that that takes
- 42:17Speaker 4: and all of those people having to do things correctly
- 42:21Speaker 4: to make it work. I just always appreciate it was.
- 42:24Speaker 3: A ton going on in that in that one, you know,
- 42:27Speaker 3: like it was there was a lot up a.
- 42:29Speaker 5: Table for them, like it was a long one show.
- 42:34Speaker 3: Cool though. I really liked it, and it was really
- 42:36Speaker 3: fun cool. It really sets the tone for like how
- 42:41Speaker 3: frenetic that lifestyle can be exciting and you know, like wild,
- 42:46Speaker 3: they just get to do whatever the hell they want, like,
- 42:48Speaker 3: you know, it's really fun. I like that a lot.
- 42:51Speaker 4: I love that. That was my That was my second
- 42:53Speaker 4: runner up, and then I got a few more. But
- 42:57Speaker 4: I always enjoyed how stress full and frantic the the
- 43:02Speaker 4: helicopter like paranoid Yeah yeah, bit is And it turns
- 43:08Speaker 4: out he had a good reason.
- 43:10Speaker 3: It seems like, oh he's probably just crazy. Nope, he
- 43:13Speaker 3: was correct.
- 43:14Speaker 4: But he just looked so strung out and like so
- 43:17Speaker 4: stressed and it just shows him going from place to
- 43:19Speaker 4: place and what time and he's just like I'm stressed out,
- 43:23Speaker 4: what's going to happen?
- 43:24Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 43:25Speaker 5: But I thought that that was really great filmmaking.
- 43:29Speaker 3: Love that with you on that. I have to say too.
- 43:32Speaker 3: I legit like jumped when they killed Peshi, even though
- 43:35Speaker 3: I knew it was happening, Like the pacing of that.
- 43:37Speaker 3: It's really good because they really it's out of nowhere,
- 43:40Speaker 3: you know, I don't know, it just it shocked me.
- 43:45Speaker 5: Yeah, they were painting houses.
- 43:47Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just the best, just the best. And then
- 43:50Speaker 3: I had the when Pete shoots Spider scene because that
- 43:54Speaker 3: scene is not dude, it's not, but man, yeah it's wild, and.
- 44:01Speaker 4: Like you're like, oh, good for this kid. He's finally
- 44:03Speaker 4: sticking up for himself.
- 44:04Speaker 3: And then good for him. No, but de Niro afterward
- 44:07Speaker 3: he was like, I was just giving you a hard time,
- 44:10Speaker 3: you know, like right, it's pretty great.
- 44:14Speaker 5: Yeah, man, pretty great.
- 44:16Speaker 3: I think that was all I wrote down.
- 44:18Speaker 4: I also wrote down the when he actually ends up
- 44:21Speaker 4: breaking the fourth wall and talking directly into the camera
- 44:27Speaker 4: during the court scene at the end, because that is intense.
- 44:30Speaker 3: Man.
- 44:31Speaker 4: He is just like pointing those guys out and you know,
- 44:34Speaker 4: and they are just staring at the daggers, at him
- 44:40Speaker 4: and yeah him. Then it almost kind of breaks attention
- 44:43Speaker 4: because he starts just explaining it, you know, looking into
- 44:46Speaker 4: camera and telling us exactly what happened, and it's.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Like a real story. That's pretty crazy.
- 44:51Speaker 5: That is so crazy.
- 44:53Speaker 4: The only other runner up is just the the layla
- 44:55Speaker 4: montage of all of Jimmy's crew winding up there. It's
- 44:59Speaker 4: a great autage. That's yeah. But dude, this whole movie
- 45:06Speaker 4: is just so fun. It's so good. It really is,
- 45:11Speaker 4: and every.
- 45:11Speaker 3: Part of it is interesting, you know, like it's a
- 45:15Speaker 3: pretty long run time or anything.
- 45:17Speaker 4: Right, you're into every scene. But yeah, it just shocks
- 45:24Speaker 4: me that it didn't win.
- 45:25Speaker 3: That is wild.
- 45:27Speaker 4: But anyway, well, let's let's talk about some of these quotes.
- 45:32Speaker 3: Let's shoot me the money, show.
- 45:34Speaker 5: Me the money, show me.
- 45:42Speaker 4: Why don't you started off there?
- 45:44Speaker 3: Bag shall Let's see they like the police department for
- 45:51Speaker 3: wise guys. I just thought that was a really fun,
- 45:54Speaker 3: fun summation of what a good fella is. I liked
- 45:58Speaker 3: that a lot. Sure.
- 45:59Speaker 1: Uh.
- 46:00Speaker 3: I also love when he's a young kid and the
- 46:04Speaker 3: guy like comes up to the restaurant. I think it
- 46:08Speaker 3: is when he got shot and he's like he like
- 46:11Speaker 3: helps somebody's like, you know, out of here, and then
- 46:13Speaker 3: he's like, Henry, you're a real jerk. You wasted on
- 46:17Speaker 3: this guy. We got to toughen this kid up.
- 46:20Speaker 4: That guy was great too, Yeah, I like to remember, remember.
- 46:26Speaker 3: I liked him a lot, but I just loved that, Like,
- 46:28Speaker 3: you're a real jerk all for helping this poor man
- 46:32Speaker 3: who's bleeding profusely. Uh funny? How funny? Like a clown?
- 46:39Speaker 3: I amuse you?
- 46:43Speaker 1: Muse you?
- 46:44Speaker 3: Is really fun We obviously mentioned it, but come on,
- 46:48Speaker 3: come on, uh let's see. Oh when the they live,
- 46:58Speaker 3: they get married, Henry and Karen get married, they live
- 47:03Speaker 3: with his parents or something, and then her parents parents
- 47:07Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, sorry, sorry, and that the dad says
- 47:10Speaker 3: something like he didn't come home whatever, and then she's
- 47:12Speaker 3: like dad, and the mom goes, will you leave him alone?
- 47:16Speaker 3: He's selfod enough. The man hasn't been able to digest
- 47:19Speaker 3: a decent meal in over six weeks. That line just
- 47:22Speaker 3: cracked me up.
- 47:23Speaker 4: I don't know why, dude, that totally reminded me. Tell
- 47:28Speaker 4: me that that woman Karen's mother is Suzanne Shepherd. Okay,
- 47:34Speaker 4: Suzanne Shepherd is the woman in Uncle Buck with the
- 47:40Speaker 4: huge mole on her mouth.
- 47:43Speaker 5: I saw her face and I was like, how do
- 47:45Speaker 5: I know her?
- 47:48Speaker 4: She needs to get a corner.
- 47:49Speaker 3: I have a rat face. I did not realize that
- 47:53Speaker 3: was her. That's the best.
- 47:55Speaker 4: Yes, And I'm so glad you brought that up because
- 47:58Speaker 4: I wanted to mention that on here.
- 48:00Speaker 3: She's in two of our favorite movies of all time.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Rob This is wonderful.
- 48:03Speaker 5: That's so funny.
- 48:05Speaker 3: Oh, she's such a jerk and Uncle Buck worst. Oh.
- 48:13Speaker 3: I also thought this was troubling. But Pesci shows up
- 48:17Speaker 3: to the bar. I think it's after they've done the
- 48:20Speaker 3: giant heist and they're at the bar and he's got
- 48:22Speaker 3: a gal there and he's like, don't you look, don't
- 48:25Speaker 3: you look at anybody? And it's a gap we've seen
- 48:27Speaker 3: before at the parties.
- 48:29Speaker 4: Yeah, Ilianna Douglas's a b Yeah.
- 48:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:33Speaker 3: But then she just goes, he's so jealous. If I
- 48:36Speaker 3: even look at anybody else, he'll kill me. He'll kill me.
- 48:39Speaker 3: There's troublesome anyway. But then the other girls just like, great,
- 48:45Speaker 3: that really cracked me up. Great, why don't you say?
- 48:50Speaker 3: A couple.
- 48:53Speaker 4: A lot of people when they do a DeNiro impression,
- 48:55Speaker 4: they do a line from this movie and I didn't
- 48:58Speaker 4: realize it was from this movie. But uh, the a
- 49:02Speaker 4: little bit you insult him a little bit, you got
- 49:05Speaker 4: a little bit out of order yourself, Like, I didn't
- 49:09Speaker 4: insult him. I didn't insult him. I'm sorry you insulted
- 49:12Speaker 4: him a little bit.
- 49:13Speaker 3: Yeah, great that I didn't realize to stick out.
- 49:18Speaker 5: I loved that. The narrating.
- 49:22Speaker 3: As far back as I can remember, I always wanted.
- 49:25Speaker 4: To be a gangster.
- 49:29Speaker 3: It's just so.
- 49:32Speaker 5: That was awesome.
- 49:37Speaker 4: And then there's some ones that have a bunch of swearing,
- 49:40Speaker 4: but they're fun. So when he shoots Michael imperially, that's
- 49:45Speaker 4: kind of what you were saying. Uh, de Niro starts
- 49:49Speaker 4: freaking out. He's like, you're going to dig the hole.
- 49:50Speaker 4: You're going to do it. I got lime, You're going.
- 49:53Speaker 3: To do it.
- 49:54Speaker 7: And he's like, who kids, I'll dike the I don't
- 49:57Speaker 7: give what is it? The first hole I doug? Not
- 50:00Speaker 7: the first time I dug a hole? I oh, where
- 50:03Speaker 7: are the shovels? Immediate? Where are the shovels?
- 50:07Speaker 3: Yeah? I loved all that. I was wonderful. It was
- 50:09Speaker 3: a first hole I dug. It's so funny, so good.
- 50:16Speaker 4: He's also telling a story. I think this was the
- 50:19Speaker 4: funny how but it's earlier on.
- 50:20Speaker 5: He's like, he.
- 50:21Speaker 3: Said, no, you're gonna tell me something today. Tough guy.
- 50:24Speaker 7: I said, all right, I'll tell you something, GOCKI mother
- 50:28Speaker 7: bing poo poom ping, I wake back up.
- 50:32Speaker 3: I thought you.
- 50:36Speaker 4: All that so pretty great. I also wrote down, oh,
- 50:42Speaker 4: just the last line. It's pretty great. It's just I'm
- 50:45Speaker 4: an average nobody. I get to live the rest of
- 50:47Speaker 4: my life like a shnook.
- 50:49Speaker 3: Yeah, like a shool.
- 50:51Speaker 5: And it's like, that's one thing about this movie that is.
- 50:57Speaker 4: A little I mean, a lot of people die, a
- 51:00Speaker 4: lot of people get their stuff, but like he did
- 51:04Speaker 4: all these terrible things, and his worst thing is that
- 51:06Speaker 4: he's just gonna kind.
- 51:07Speaker 5: Of be bored. Yep, like you kind of want to see.
- 51:12Speaker 4: More, which is ridiculous happened to him.
- 51:14Speaker 5: Even though it's like a real story.
- 51:16Speaker 3: But we'll have there's a little come up and so
- 51:18Speaker 3: you'll learn about in trivia.
- 51:20Speaker 4: Still just a smidch sure, all right, all right, a
- 51:23Speaker 4: smitch but yeah, I don't know.
- 51:27Speaker 3: I had a couple more. Yeah, yeah, when uh is
- 51:32Speaker 3: it Pollie the big leader guys Pollie right, yeah, when
- 51:36Speaker 3: he after he gets out of the joint and he's like,
- 51:41Speaker 3: take this now, I have to turn my back on you.
- 51:45Speaker 3: Like that whole thing is great. Give gives him the
- 51:50Speaker 3: water cash. Now I have to turn my back on you,
- 51:52Speaker 3: like so now. I also looked it's Samuel l after
- 51:58Speaker 3: they killed the guy Pasti's in the car with him
- 52:01Speaker 3: and he's like, what are you doing? And he's like
- 52:03Speaker 3: the car is called get the fuck out, and then
- 52:07Speaker 3: they start driving. I just thought that was so funny.
- 52:10Speaker 4: Yeah, uh, just really fun Oh and then he oh,
- 52:18Speaker 4: you can go ahead. I was just gonna say he
- 52:20Speaker 4: had this is the last thing I wrote. But he
- 52:21Speaker 4: had that scene where he gets so contentious between him
- 52:26Speaker 4: and Billy Bats.
- 52:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:29Speaker 5: Yeah, they're like it's.
- 52:30Speaker 4: Like an they're having like a party for him. I
- 52:34Speaker 4: think maybe he had just got.
- 52:36Speaker 3: Out of jail.
- 52:36Speaker 5: Yeah, I think, right, yeah, yeah.
- 52:39Speaker 4: And you know he ends it with he's like busting
- 52:42Speaker 4: his balls, you know, telling him how when he was
- 52:45Speaker 4: younger and shine shoes and then they you know, you
- 52:48Speaker 4: think everything's good, and then they take it.
- 52:51Speaker 5: He takes a drink.
- 52:52Speaker 4: He's like, now go home and get your shine box
- 52:55Speaker 4: and him Joe Peshi's reaction. Mother, but you like all
- 53:03Speaker 4: these things. You so mad, he's so mad, You leave
- 53:08Speaker 4: him here, you make him.
- 53:12Speaker 3: That's up getting him killed because he kills like.
- 53:16Speaker 4: Yeah, that is so horrifical, that whole scene because he's
- 53:21Speaker 4: the one that wakes up in the.
- 53:23Speaker 3: Which actually I really like the and maybe this is
- 53:26Speaker 3: one of the first movies, dude, I really don't know,
- 53:28Speaker 3: but they like they started right off, then go back
- 53:32Speaker 3: and then come back into time with something like I
- 53:35Speaker 3: always think that's really effective. I think that's a fun
- 53:38Speaker 3: that's a fun film tool or whatever. You know. The
- 53:42Speaker 3: only other one that I had was de Niro and
- 53:45Speaker 3: just because of how happy he was when he said this.
- 53:48Speaker 3: So after Karen has pulled the gun, you know, and
- 53:52Speaker 3: they're like, listen, but that really fun scene where they're like,
- 53:56Speaker 3: you just you have to go back to her. It's
- 53:59Speaker 3: the right thing that, you know, like they have this
- 54:01Speaker 3: weird like on her code, you know, thing going on.
- 54:04Speaker 3: And then they're like, or she's gonna divorce you, and
- 54:07Speaker 3: then de Niro's like, oh, she'll never divorce him, she'll
- 54:11Speaker 3: kill him, but she won't. He's just he's so pleased
- 54:14Speaker 3: with himself that I really I got to kick out
- 54:16Speaker 3: of that little line. Yeah she'll kill him, she won't
- 54:20Speaker 3: divorce him. Yeah.
- 54:21Speaker 4: Really I like that one too. That's a good one.
- 54:24Speaker 3: That was the last one.
- 54:24Speaker 4: I had though, well, then let's go to Biggs Boom
- 54:30Speaker 4: the crying game. So many people died. I don't think
- 54:32Speaker 4: there was a lot of crying over the deaths. I
- 54:36Speaker 4: thought maybe two scenes. There might be three. I'm gonna
- 54:40Speaker 4: say maybe three. I'm saying a third one on the fly,
- 54:44Speaker 4: but the two that I wrote down. The gun in
- 54:47Speaker 4: the face scene in the aftermath was so intense.
- 54:51Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 54:52Speaker 4: With the two of that, Lorraine Broco is standing over
- 54:56Speaker 4: him with the gun.
- 54:57Speaker 3: Because it's like they're both so onhappy and it's just
- 55:00Speaker 3: a terrible situation. And the little kid, Oh that was sad, right,
- 55:05Speaker 3: that did get me.
- 55:09Speaker 4: And one that I don't think you cried, but you
- 55:12Speaker 4: might have. It's maybe when Jimmy's reacting to Tommy getting whacked.
- 55:20Speaker 3: I thought that would get me and it didn't. You know.
- 55:22Speaker 3: It is like that guy sucks, so's I can't be
- 55:26Speaker 3: too sad, right.
- 55:28Speaker 4: That's kind of where I was too. Yeah. And the
- 55:32Speaker 4: other one, and it's because of the kids, and it's
- 55:34Speaker 4: when that's what I'm like just thinking when she goes
- 55:38Speaker 4: to visit him in the in the present and the
- 55:42Speaker 4: kids are like right there while they're shouting and that's
- 55:47Speaker 4: a good thought focused on it's a good thought.
- 55:51Speaker 3: It was just the one for this, which I was
- 55:53Speaker 3: kind of surprised to honestly cool. But you're right, there's
- 55:57Speaker 3: a lot of people are dying that aren't great, So
- 55:59Speaker 3: it's not you're not like feeling feel bad? Yeah? Yeah,
- 56:04Speaker 3: with you nice? Should we do a little trivia here? Yes?
- 56:09Speaker 3: According to Henry Hill, whose life is the basis for
- 56:12Speaker 3: the book and the film, Joe Pesci's portrayal of Tommy
- 56:16Speaker 3: de Simoon was ninety to ninety nine percent accurate, with
- 56:20Speaker 3: one notable exception. The real Tommy was massively hung. I'm sorry,
- 56:25Speaker 3: he was built. He was massively built. No, he's just man,
- 56:30Speaker 3: is what you're saying. Dude? Yeah, okay, just a little boy.
- 56:33Speaker 3: He's a little guy with a bad attitude. I think
- 56:36Speaker 3: we can all agree. Robert de Niro wanted to use
- 56:40Speaker 3: real money for the scene where Jimmy is like handing
- 56:42Speaker 3: out money when we first see him, because he didn't
- 56:45Speaker 3: like the way the fake money failt in his hands.
- 56:48Speaker 3: For some reason. This became the prop master's job to
- 56:52Speaker 3: supply the money, so he gave him five thousand dollars
- 56:55Speaker 3: of his own money, but at the end of each take,
- 56:58Speaker 3: no one was allowed to leave the set until all
- 57:01Speaker 3: the money was returned and counted. I thought was kind
- 57:04Speaker 3: of funny. It's like, hey, if you feel that strong
- 57:07Speaker 3: about it, maybe you a Morphy star who's rich can
- 57:10Speaker 3: provide the fun. Yes, that was funny, but like lockdown,
- 57:17Speaker 3: the lockdown the set, let's see. Uh. Scorsese first got
- 57:23Speaker 3: wind of Nicholas Peleggi's book Wise Guy when he was
- 57:28Speaker 3: handed the gallery proofs. Although Scorsese had sworn off making
- 57:32Speaker 3: another gangster movie, he immediately cold called the writer and
- 57:36Speaker 3: told him I've been waiting for this book my whole life,
- 57:38Speaker 3: to which Peleggi replied, I've been waiting for this phone
- 57:42Speaker 3: call my entire life. That was kind of fun. Also,
- 57:46Speaker 3: according to the author, some mobsters were hired as extras
- 57:49Speaker 3: to lend authenticity to some of the scenes in this movie.
- 57:53Speaker 3: They gave Warner Brothers fake Social Security numbers, and no
- 57:56Speaker 3: one knows how they received their paychecks. So that's kind
- 57:59Speaker 3: of a fun little part there. Very silly in the
- 58:05Speaker 3: how am I funny? Scene based on It's actually based
- 58:09Speaker 3: on something that happened to Joe Peshi, apparently while working
- 58:12Speaker 3: in a restaurant, a young Peshi told the mobster that
- 58:15Speaker 3: he was funny, a compliment that was mes met with
- 58:19Speaker 3: a less than enthusiastic response. Peschi relayed the anecdote to Scorsese,
- 58:24Speaker 3: who decided to include it in the film, and Scorsese
- 58:28Speaker 3: particularly didn't include the scene in the shooting script so
- 58:32Speaker 3: that Peschi and ray Liota's interactions would elicit genuinely surprised
- 58:37Speaker 3: reactions from the rest of the cast, so they didn't
- 58:40Speaker 3: know what was happening, which is kind of fun.
- 58:43Speaker 5: That's fun.
- 58:43Speaker 3: I think it plays softball. This is sad. But Leota
- 58:48Speaker 3: his mother died during the filming of this movie, but
- 58:52Speaker 3: he says he used that anger over losing her for
- 58:56Speaker 3: certain scenes, and specifically the pistol whipping scene, which he really.
- 59:01Speaker 4: Did that one shot so going from the house to
- 59:07Speaker 4: across the street then coming back.
- 59:09Speaker 3: Such a cool shot too, Like that guy thought he
- 59:11Speaker 3: was being a big shot and it's like, oh you
- 59:13Speaker 3: you messed with the wrong guy.
- 59:14Speaker 4: Sorry, but what are you think?
- 59:16Speaker 3: Not good? In The Real Good Fella, which aired in
- 59:21Speaker 3: the UK, Henry Hill claimed that Robert de Niro would
- 59:23Speaker 3: phone him seven to eight times a day to discuss
- 59:26Speaker 3: certain things about Jimmie's characters, such as how Jimmy would
- 59:29Speaker 3: hold his cigarette and things like that, so wow interesting.
- 59:34Speaker 3: The studio was initially very nervous about the film due
- 59:37Speaker 3: to his extreme violence and language. The film reportedly received
- 59:41Speaker 3: the worst preview response in the studio's history. Scorcese says
- 59:46Speaker 3: the numbers were so low it was funny. Nevertheless, the
- 59:49Speaker 3: film was released without alteration to overwhelming critical acclaim cementing
- 59:54Speaker 3: Scarce's reputation as one of America's foremost filmmakers. So that's
- 59:58Speaker 3: kind of fun and good for them. They let it
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: happen even though it was.
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: I feel like that wouldn't happen.
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: No, I agree, I don't think it would either. According
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: to Ray Liota, Scorsese was involved in every detail of
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: the cast wardrobe, and so much so that he tied
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: Leota's tie himself to make sure it was accurate. Socrsce
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: really went in on this one. He really went for it.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: Joe Pesci's mother saw the film. She told them the
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: movie was good and then asked him if he had
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: to curse so much, And I just thought that was
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: very sweet. It's a very mom thing to ask, which
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: is fun.
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: The dinner scene, oh, this was the dinner scene with
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: Tommy's mother portrayed by Scorsese's mother was almost completely improvised,
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: including Tommy asking his mother if he could borrow her
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: butcher's knife and then Jimmy's whole hoof comment. So I
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: thought that was fun, sure, and then the scene in
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: which Tommy kills Spider was also mostly improvised. The only
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: line that was said as scripted was by why don't
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: you go yourself? Tommy? So that's pretty fun and wild.
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: Let's see, we already said that. After the premiere, Henry
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: Hill went around and revealed his true identity to people,
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: which I don't know how that worked. In response, the
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: government kicked him out of federal witness protection program. So
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: are you kidding? Apparently that was the trivia I read.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: So he was like, you know, I'm the guy. It's me,
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: I'm the guy. Why would you do that? Pretty dumb?
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: Although I didn't read anything like he's now been murdered.
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: I don't that guy's got to be dead, right, I
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: imagine by now, So, when Henry and Karen Hill are
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: negotiating to enter the witness protection program, that guy who's
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: playing the agent is actually an agent Edward McDonald. He
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: played himself and was re enacting what he did in reality. Socially,
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: the was kind of fun.
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: That's crazy.
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: And then when filming the scene in which his character
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: is killed by Joe Peshi, Michael Imperioli broke a glass
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: in his hand and had to be rushed to the
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: emergency room. And when doctor saw what appeared to be
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: a gunshot in his chest, a gunshot wound in his chest,
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: they tried to treat it. When he told them what
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: was really up, he then was made to wait for
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: three hours, so they thought he was having a real
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: tough time and it was just his hand. But this
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: was fun. I thought. Scorsese told imperially that someday he'd
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: be telling that story on the Tonight Show at Jane Leno,
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: and this prediction came true in March of two thousand,
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: so I just thought that was kind of neat cool. Well,
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: this a little full circle.
- 1:02:46Speaker 5: Moment, so nice.
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: That was all the ones I had. Did you have
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: any trivia?
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: I did, and it's derivatives or used three hundred and
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: twenty times and twenty one.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: Peter turned off or something.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: You were just like oh no, okay.
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: An average of two point zero four per minute. Joe
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: Pash says about half of them. The script called for
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: the word to be used seventy times, but much of
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: the dialogue was improvised during shooting. In the expletives piled
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: up at the time of the release, it had the
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: most profanity of any movie in history. As of twenty twenty,
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: it's number fifteen. The Wolf of Wall Street is number three, okay,
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: which is also directed by Scoresac So, I thought that
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: was interesting, and I had mentioned all of the Sopranos folks.
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: It shares twenty seven actors with HBO's television hit The Sopranos.
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: So that's pray. Yeah. As far as other actors that
- 1:03:57Speaker 4: were up for roles, Al Pacino was offered the role
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: of Jimmy Conway. He turned it down due to fears
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: of type casting. The same year, Pacino ended up playing
- 1:04:11Speaker 4: big Boy Caprice and Dick Tracy. He admits regretting the decision. Yeah.
- 1:04:19Speaker 4: De Niro was offered either the role of Jimmy Conway
- 1:04:22Speaker 4: or Tommy DeVito, and he chose the former. Scorsace originally
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: offered Peschi the role of Paully the Paul Servina role.
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: Since Pesci was decades too old for the role of Tommy,
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: Scorsese even auditioned young unknown actress for the role, including
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: Michael Imperiole, who played Spider, but Peschi convinced Scorsese to
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: cast him as Tommy and just try to make him
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: look younger using makeup.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: It worked fine as far as I could tell. I
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: don't know, it didn't seem weird to me.
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: Yeah, it just probably wasn't real true to real life stuff.
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: And then I see that Alec Baldwin audition for the
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: role of Henry Hill.
- 1:05:08Speaker 5: He would have been.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: Great, probably, yeah, probably, But raally Oda this.
- 1:05:13Speaker 5: Is you know, this is his thing.
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: Man, this was ra That was all I had. Will
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: there be a sequel judgment day? Yes? Isn't there a
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: good Fellas too? I'm just kidding. It's a shark that's
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: on IMDb.
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: Oh, it was like that.
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: When I looked Good Fellaws, it was was it like
- 1:05:38Speaker 4: a funnier die because it says it's.
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: One minute long. It's like all it says about it.
- 1:05:45Speaker 4: I mean, honestly, I feel like you can just say
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: the Sopranos is pretty much you know.
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: But probably not at this point, I don't know. They're
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: all well, they all died anyway, so what's right.
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: I feel like Casino kind of could be like an
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: unofficial one as well, very similar folks. I had also
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: heard that the movie My Blue Heaven, which I've never
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: seen it was Steve Martin and Rick moranis I've never
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: seen that it It depicts a character based on Henry
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: Hill's life after with the Witness for Tristan. Yeah, so maybe,
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: but yeah, probably not a straight up sequel, but at
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: this point, yeah, that's cool.
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: Though, Yeah, would would you like to play game?
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: We're gonna We're gonna see if anybody responded, it was
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: what do.
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: We got, rob? What do we got?
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: What we get?
- 1:06:56Speaker 4: We do have some replies. I will tell you what
- 1:07:01Speaker 4: we have here. Jensen Acles, who.
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: I think is that guy.
- 1:07:07Speaker 4: I think he was in the Boys and he was
- 1:07:09Speaker 4: that like captain guy who like wrapped.
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: I think that's who that guy is.
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: I'm going to pass on Jen.
- 1:07:16Speaker 4: So definitely not that Hugh Jackman, who we have done
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: in the past, Stanley Tucci, who I don't think we've done. Uh,
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: Patrick Wilson, which I think would go extremely fast, and
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: uh Nicholas Cage.
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: I mean we would have let me just double check.
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: We've done Nicholas Cage two times.
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: It feels right. So out of those.
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: Remember either to be fair, do you want to do to.
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: Patrick will Wilson or Hugh Jackman for the second, I
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: don't know who Patrick Wilson is.
- 1:08:06Speaker 5: Patrick Wilson is in the conjuring. He is the guy,
- 1:08:12Speaker 5: he's the main guy in the conjured.
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: We're not doing that. Get out of here. What are
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: you nuts? What do you knows that? Good?
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: Well?
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: Then to.
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: Touch or if you have something else you would rather do.
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: I can do. I just don't think I know that
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: many because he's such a side, you know what I mean?
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: Like or I'm gonna first get them for sure. I
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: don't know, man, it could just be a short Tooch.
- 1:08:50Speaker 4: Let's do the let's do the teuch.
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: I'm gonna be out after like four. I have to
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: go first, and I would like to say the product
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: just so I can a touch. By the way, I
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: love this man, I love him too.
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: I'm gonna say the terminal good one good Tooch.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: So I'm already out. That's not good.
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: That's not good good at all.
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: The Stanley Cucci, uh it's called the Hunger Games.
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: Yes, it absolutely is right here we are, oh god,
- 1:09:38Speaker 4: we I mean we can do all of the Hunger
- 1:09:39Speaker 4: Games movies. I think he's in every single I think
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: he is so catching fire Mocking j Part one.
- 1:09:49Speaker 5: Mocking Jay makes that pretty easy.
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, yeah, juah wait Julie and Julia. I believe
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: if he's Julia Child's husband in that film. Oh okay, cool,
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: pretty sure, that's right.
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: Actually, yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: I like that movie a lot. I think it's very fun.
- 1:10:12Speaker 5: That was a fun streep and Minnesota g Amy Amy Adan,
- 1:10:20Speaker 5: She's good. He played a ruthless character and they gave
- 1:10:25Speaker 5: him blue contacts.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: But that was scary.
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: In The Lovely Bone, I.
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: Can't remember the title of it, but I remember that
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: scary in that all right, mister, I'll do Oh I
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: almost said the wrong one. Uh iron Man, No, no,
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: it's said the wrong one. What I thought of first
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: that I yeah, you can have it's Captain America, the
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: First Avenger.
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: Sorry, the first first reaction, and I was like, no,
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: he's but that's good.
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: And I think he's only in that one, right, just
- 1:11:08Speaker 5: in the one.
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: Now he might it might be a weird situation where
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: like they play that as a flashback in one of them.
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: I don't really remember.
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: I did not remember that one. That was a good pull.
- 1:11:21Speaker 4: That's good because it's gonna be bad here soon. I
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: watched one on my flight to China Ja where it's
- 1:11:33Speaker 4: him and Tony Shaloub who played brothers, and they have
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: a restaurant and it's called big Night.
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: Big Night. What the hell's big Night.
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: Rob big Night?
- 1:11:45Speaker 5: I just explained to you what it meant.
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: I mean, what year was that?
- 1:11:49Speaker 5: Do you think it was probably early? They were very young.
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it's fun.
- 1:11:57Speaker 5: Like it.
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: I don't like you were in like the fever Pitch
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: of a thousand Year.
- 1:12:05Speaker 4: I was gonna I was gonna fall asleep pretty soon after.
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: But I did like, Okay, I think that this is
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: gonna be bad because I'm not gonna remember. I'm pretty
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: sure it wasn't The Post. But I think he was
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: in one of those newspaper movies.
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: Oh that he knew Robbie one.
- 1:12:30Speaker 4: So that's Spotlight, Like maybe should I look there were
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: so many people in it. You look Spotlight.
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: I'll just look up Spotlight Toucci and see if it happens.
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: But I think he was in it. I don't know
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: why I think that, but maybe it's the other one too,
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: I don't know. Oh yeah, they got him in here boom, yeah,
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: nically done. My god, I'm I would not have anyone.
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: One movie that I think of him in. He plays
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: Bridget Fonda's really not cool boyfriend in It Could Happen
