  had a wow. I mean fifteen batters in the second, thirteen and the

  third. Yeah, I was remarkable, second and third, and he had

  a great response. The kid, their starter looked really, really tough in

  the first and the swings we were getting were not good. And then you

  know, he hit Corey to lead off the second. After you know,

  they get to on a homer, and it looked like he totally changed.

  You know. I know he's been battling something, but his year last year

  was outstanding, and I think they're just trying to get him going. I

  think that's why they left him in. They're trying to get him to figure

  some things out. But he was like a totally different guy, and we

  just got to him and took advantage of the freebie. I think they gave

  us five freebies in that second inning and we scored nine runs. Everybody talks

  about the home runs, but it was the five if if there don't give

  maybe they try to do too much. I think Joe and we're still learning.

  He's an older guy, but he's used to regular work and he hasn't

  had he hasn't been out there in a couple of weeks, and so I

  think we may have learned, Hey, we need to use him a little

  bit more often. If that means, you know, getting him into a

  game on the weekend, what have you? We need to We need to

  probably use him a little bit more because he did not look at all like

  himself. He's a strike thrower and he wasn't today. He was missing.

  You know, those two leadoff walks were uncharacteristic, and then he had the

  two out walk and the third and you know, we just want to get

  him off the mound so we could use him out of the pen this weekend.

  Yeah, he had eleven appearances prior eighteen and a third coming into this

  one. But the bats were hot. I mean, you get twelve runs

  against Bryant, now you follow it up with twenty. Where would you rate

  the confidence of your hitters. We talked about this a week or two ago

  and you were saying, man, we can't hit with anybody on base anymore.

  Butause that's changed now. It was dark the last time we spoke him,

  and we were in a bad place. I do feel like, you

  know, we've got Maddox. You know, I didn't like his last at

  bat off to the soft lefty, but I think he's he's seen them all

  much better. He looks like a much more confident hitter. Luke Broadhurst the

  last two days especially, has just been really really centered and balanced. I

  also like some of the bats of guys gave us. Drew Crohn's been working

  on something in the cages and he really executed it perfectly on his swing.

  He didn't have anything to show for it, but had a really nice line

  drive and you know, got the head out. Corey Morton the same thing,

  get the head out one on his double. I feel like Spur's kind

  of coming around. He's on time more often than not now. And you

  know Jake obviously, you know, moving him into one hole, he has
• 3:04
  struggled with runners in scoring position. We're guaranteed that there's gonna be nobody on

  for at least one at bat a game, and hopefully he can get comfortable.

  He's gonna have to drive in runs if we're going to accomplish our goals.

  But I think there have been some some positives over the last yeah,

  last week plus, we've we've been swinging the bats a little bit better.

  And Matt Malcolm your catcher. Three for four today, it comes in one

  ninety six. You know, when you're below two hundred, you're a catcher.

  Yeah, you've been through it. You're saying yourself, if he just

  gives me a little start, maybe I can get three hits and get it

  going. But he had three knocks today. We're looking for another guy and

  he has pop so he is a dangerous guy, and he has an emotional

  you know, he's got a great ticker, and we like his energy in

  the game. I'm really glad that we were talking about taking him out and

  letting Hide get that last at bat that Malcolm mon up having. He was

  seeing a right handed slider guy and we wanted him hit a slider. So

  it couldn't have worked out better. We we needed to take a time out

  to give all time because we had two quick outs in that inning and we

  needed Alejandro to get a little bit of work in the pen before he came

  in. So I told him, I said, take the first pitch,

  not the first strike, Take the first pitch, give him a little bit

  more time, and then you're free to go. And I need to hit

  a slider here. He got one that was up a little bit, but

  it was perfect. He hit the crap out of it to left field,

  and he needed that because he's really struggled against radies. He's been excellent against

  lefties, but I was glad to see that he stayed on the slider and

  hit the heck out of it. Yeah, back to matters to Lanta for

  a quick thing. Three runs about it. End Today he came in hitting

  two forty. But he could be a guy that might be a catalyst.

  Man. He that first home run was just a bomb to right field.

  Yeah, and I always worry when he pulls a home run because he sometimes

  comes off pitches. He did that in his last at bat. But yesterday

  he stayed on some beautiful He went in the left center gap twice yesterday had

  really good swings. So I think he's turned a corner. He was,

  and I've said this several times now in the fall and in the preseason,

  he was our best hitter. He and Tamara. We're kind of duking it

  out for who was our best Matt. Nobody on our staff wanted to face

  Maddix Lena in inner squads or in the preseason live session. So it's I

  feel like he's turned the corner. He's a guy probably needs a little bit,

  just more reps and to be out there all the time. Now we

  can play him because he's he's you know, he's hitting above the Mendos the

  line, and yeah, it looks and we need him. We need him,

  So you know, having him down in the order I think has helped

  we Maybe we were expecting too much of him. He should he should be

  a middle the order guy. But you know, if he's comfortable there,

  we can live with him to being down there as long as other guys are

  performing. Yeah. Final note, TC Simmons gets in this ball game.

  He's you know, been in and out, hadn't played a high cup a

  lot. But two hits, extra base hits. Uh. Two good plays

  in the field too. I mean it was good to see because we know

  what kind of guy he has been as a Yukon baseball player. A couple

  of ribbies, a couple of nice defensive plays. It was good to see

  the real TC Simmons a guy. Yeah it was. He hit one off

  both lines. I think it's tough to do, I think, or at

  least the right field. One landed right on the line, and then he

  hits one of the left. Kind of an excuse me one, But who

  cares? Is he? He deserves some luck and he got it a little

  bit. He made two you said it. I mean we said it in

  the huddle too in the post game. Two great catches, you know,

  not just good catches. Him and Jenkins just squared one up and he turned

  one way and then turned back the other way made it look easy. And

  then another rocket, you know, off a turner I think late and just

  you know, he's he's a very good outfielder, but he hasn't been out

  there and that just goes to show you he's got a lot of pride and

  he works really hard, gets his reps in pre game and makes the most

  of them, and he's like a pro. He's a veteran, and it

  was it was really good to see. I'd like to see a smile on
• 6:40
  his face. He had our first triple the year. We haven't had a
• 6:42
  triple. We in thirty thirty game today and yeah, we hadn't had a
• 6:46
  triple all yet. It's amazing. It's crazy, he's crazy. He got

  all right. So Saint John's this weekend, you got two out of three
• 6:51
  against Xavier. I don't want to build up the pressure too much, but

  you gotta win a series. You got to keep winning them, right and

  in the conference especially, Yeah, the conference is a lot better. You

  know, Saint John's came out of the gates. They went to Gainesville and

  went on opening night, and you know they've been playing good baseball. You

  know, they they took care of businesses past weekend with a with a big
• 7:11
  East opening weekend sweep so on that was on the road, on the road

  again. They're not gonna be intimidated. You know, they're not the same
• 7:18
  Saint John's they were last year, the year before. This is a better

  This is a good baseball team. And I know our guys are not going
• 7:25
  to underestimate him anytime. Saint John's. It's interesting we had Maine and Saint
• 7:28
  John's together. It's like the rivalries from from the eighties. You know,
• 7:32
  uh this week but uh, you know, always looking forward to to a
• 7:35
  good battle with those guys. And but they're they are definitely better. So
• 7:41
  we got to be on our game and gotta get a good start from gave

  Van m and Friday night's been a bugaboo for us. We got to you

  know, hopefully, I think it's two dollars Miller Light night, so hopefully

  the Husky faith will come out and droves and make it a little bit more

  difficult for the Red Storm. It works for the basketball team, they went

  the two dollars night, right, Yeah, yeah, they didn't need much

  help. We could leave you we could use a little boost, but no,

  it's it's uh, we do feel like we're in a better place.

  We just got to keep the momentum in our dugout and it's nice to be

  home finally sleeping in our own beds for a while. We got some terrible

  news this morning with our team Impact, our teammate Impact Guy, teammate AJ

  Salisbury passing away, and and although we knew it was coming, uh,
• 8:24
  you know, I think it inspired the guys. Frankly, they didn't take
• 8:26
  one pitch off today because they know the DAJ would have loved to have been
• 8:31
  here to watch us. And he loved playing the game. I loved playing
• 8:35
  the game. And he was sick for so long and suffering and and thank
• 8:39
  the Good Lord, he's safe at home now. But we're gonna be there
• 8:41
  to support the family and whatever they need moving forward. But I was really
• 8:46
  proud of the way that we competed and and when we're up that big,
• 8:48
  there wasn't a guy that gave up on one pitch. You know, he
• 8:50
  played. I asked him to, said, baseball is a lot like you
• 8:54
  know, little boys want to be big boys, big boys want to be
• 8:56
  little boys. You know, That's why I love having bat boys in the
• 8:58
  dugout And aj want to be a big boy in the worst way and ask
• 9:03
  the guys just hey, let's play with the energy of little boys and play
• 9:05
  with the toughness of big boys today. And you know, I think they
• 9:09
  they gave him a fitting tribute, and we're going to make sure that the
• 9:11
  family gets the game ball. Yeah, eleven year old kid man deserve more,
• 9:16
  a bigger life, a longer life. But you wonder, you know,
• 9:20
  I always say everything happens for a reason. This this kind of thing
• 9:22
  makes you second guess that a little bit. Yeah, no doubt. All
