- 3:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You don't have to be a believer to be part of the Voices for Voices movement, helping people uh with uh mental challenges, uh trauma.
- 3:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh we're here to help, we're here to unite, not divide.
- 3:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh that that's what it's what it's about.
- 3:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I founded the organization uh on my diagnoses of my mental illnesses.
- 3:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I'm not some CEO that's been inserted or some executive director that's been inserted and will be gone next year or in a in a couple years.
- 4:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I'm here for life.
- 4:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So thank you.
- 4:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So Godspeed.
- 4:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We hear this word at different at at different times, right?
- 4:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So we we hear this word.
- 4:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh I I believe the last time I heard this word, uh, not not that that means or that this means that it was the last time that it was used, uh, but there was uh some kind of military uh action that that the United States did.
- 4:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, and and I believe that uh the United States President Donald J.
- 4:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Trump, I believe he said godspeed in uh in the in the moment, in moments just leading up to that military action.
- 5:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh it's been used in uh other other uh maybe military, other important uh other other important areas.
- 5:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I want to follow that theme of Godspeed, not in the military sense.
- 5:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We're not we're not going there, we're not going uh we're not going going into politics.
- 5:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh remember, we're about culture less way less.
- 5:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Not we're not about politics.
- 5:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I want to talk about Godspeed, just like the word says Godspeed.
- 5:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So capital G-O-D S-P-E-D, God speed.
- 5:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: A lot of us, me included, are very impatient.
- 6:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We want things now, we want things right, we don't want to wait.
- 6:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We want things when we want things, and we don't want to wait.
- 6:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I I can't stress this enough that if there's I mean, let's just let's just call like this.
- 6:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I I don't drink coffee, but a lot of there's a lot of coffee drinkers across the world.
- 6:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So if you are at a an establishment that you're waiting in line to order your coffee, or any other any food really that you're you're you're waiting, and uh you know you want the food uh quicker.
- 7:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So we want what we want, so whether that's coffee, whether that's food, whatever that may be, uh we don't we don't want to wait any longer than we have to.
- 7:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But we end up waiting.
- 7:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: This is all gonna make sense, I promise you.
- 7:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So when I talk about Godspeed, as we talk about it in this show, the the barista, the person, the chef, uh the baker, whoever we're waiting waiting for to give us what we ordered, and then we pay, right?
- 8:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Usually we pay first, and then we wait, and then we which is to prevent you know people from running off without paying.
- 8:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So it's like you pay, and then we'll work on what you ordered.
- 8:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So God's speed, how this comes into play is things happen in God speed, not Justin's speed, not LeBron's speed, not Taylor Swift's speed.
- 8:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Things happen in God's speed.
- 8:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And we don't know what that speed looks like.
- 9:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Meaning, is it super fast?
- 9:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Is it super slow?
- 9:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We're not God, none of us are, and we're not none of us are perfect.
- 9:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So we we don't know what God's speed is.
- 9:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's not a calculation that we can make and say, okay, so if we drive 35 miles per hour, uh and start doing you know some you know uh some calculation, say this is gonna be exactly how long it takes.
- 9:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And that's that.
- 9:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's not the case.
- 9:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Things happen in God's speed.
- 9:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So looking for a job, one of the most frustrating things on the planet, applying, setting up profiles, setting up more profiles.
- 10:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Some some go quickly, some go slowly.
- 10:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: They happen in God's speed.
- 10:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so I know for me, especially mentally for me, I want things to happen when I want them to, and you want things to happen when you want things too.
- 10:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But that's not the case, that's not that's not the deal.
- 10:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Things happen in God's speed.
- 10:51Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So when He is ready, and if you're not a believer, that's okay.
- 10:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh things happen in a particular speed that we don't have a hundred percent control of a hundred percent of the time.
- 11:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So you can think of it like that.
- 11:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If you're not a believer and you don't want to look at it from the God side of things, um that's okay.
- 11:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We still want things when we want them.
- 11:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We don't want to wait, we want things fast, we want things cheap, we want things built to last.
- 11:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We don't want we don't want to wait.
- 11:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And then a day comes or a time comes, and we're presented with the coffee, the latte.
- 11:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If we're going back to the coffee example, we're talking about air travel, the price comes up for the departure airport and the arrival airport, and so you know the internet's doing its thing, your connections on its thing.
- 12:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But in the end, I don't have can control.
- 12:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I I know having for those with children, I think it makes makes things a little bit easier to comprehend.
- 12:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Comprehension isn't my the the best part uh of me.
- 12:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So so growing up, I as many of us, you know, going through going through school, formal school, you know, reading, writing, arithmetic.
- 13:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So reading, reading, I think came fairly fair, I don't say fairly easy.
- 13:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh I did I didn't have that much trouble.
- 13:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I guess.
- 13:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And what that means is I remember sitting in class, and a lot of times if we were reading a story, a teacher, professor sometimes would have us read out loud to the class, and it may be like here's a paragraph, and each paragraph a student will read, and then the next paragraph another student would read, and you know, you sometimes go up and down the rows, and then whatever it gets to you, it gets to you.
- 14:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So you may, you and I may have have tricky words in our in our paragraph, or we may have a little easier, but all this to say is reading for me has been relatively easy, vocabulary relatively easy, comprehension not as easy.
- 14:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh and so even you know, even to this day, there are sometimes, not always, in fact, very few.
- 14:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, but that's one of the areas where it takes me a couple of times to read through something.
- 14:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I'm okay with that, it's not that big of a deal to me.
- 15:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um, you know, the world isn't gonna end if I have to read a paragraph or an article twice, or a manuscript twice, or you you fill in the blank twice, three times.
- 15:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And that just goes to show me that things happen in God's speed, not my speed.
- 15:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If it was my speed, I would get through everything so fast.
- 15:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But the thing is, is would I remember all that?
- 15:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Would we remember every single thing?
- 15:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Some of us, right?
- 15:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So there's like you know, this IQ test, uh you know, that shows you know intelligence of a person.
- 15:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I I don't know where I would, I don't know where I fall on that scale.
- 16:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh and it doesn't really, it doesn't really matter, but I'm what I'm trying to do is hammer home the term Godspeed, that no matter what we do, how we do it, uh we can't control everything.
- 16:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: In fact, there's very little that we can control or that we can impact at such a high level, and there's no problem with that.
- 16:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There's no problem if we have to wait a little bit longer, or other things maybe they come a little bit quicker, and I think part of it for me being a procrastinator too, uh may not may not be as helpful uh when everything is in God's speed.
- 17:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So, right, if you're compacting the amount of time to do something, to read something, to stop and get a coffee before you know getting to work or whatever whatever analogy we want to use.
- 17:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We're running late, and so that we're expecting the barista to magically make up 10 minutes of time that we we lost because we left late, and it's not a problem if we left late.
- 17:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like a lot of a lot of times we do, we don't do it on purpose, you know.
- 17:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: For we're getting our children ready for school, getting our lunches ready, what whatever it may be.
- 18:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Things happen, weather happens, life happens, and it's okay.
- 18:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So you hear me saying it's okay a lot on these shows.
- 18:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Because it's okay until it's not.
- 18:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's okay.
- 18:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There's very for looking at all jobs all kinds of work.
- 18:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: A lot of jobs are time critical.
- 18:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But then the in the same sense of those that are you know time critical, who who sets the time and says they're critical?
- 19:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Says if it's not done at this exact minute, second, hour, day, month, year.
- 19:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'll just use filming a show.
- 19:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So if I uh or we start filming a minute after we thought we were gonna start, so be it.
- 19:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Big deal.
- 19:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's not my speed, it's God's speed.
- 19:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Some days we film, some days we don't.
- 19:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Some days we drop episodes, sometimes we don't.
- 19:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Some days we don't.
- 19:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so we think about does it matter?
- 19:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Does it matter if we drop an episode on this particular day at this particular time?
- 20:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I know for a fact, unless you own every single bit of the supply chain, you can even schedule to have a show drop at a certain date and time, and it could drop a minute later than that, and so you could plan on 10 47 a.m.
- 20:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: On Thursday February, you insert the date.
- 20:51Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And we look at it and go, well, it it didn't the show didn't drop exactly when I wanted it to.
- 21:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Even if I set the date and the time for it to drop, that there's usually a buffer of like around this time, which is usually a couple minutes give or take.
- 21:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Meaning if I want a 1047, maybe it drops at 1045, maybe it drops at 1050.
- 21:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so we don't need to worry.
- 21:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We don't need to worry, we shouldn't worry about these things because these are things that gets our mind, gets my mind, gets us all all in a frenzy, and we go, oh my god.
- 22:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Gosh, well, this didn't come out on time.
- 22:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: This that didn't come out on time.
- 22:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I didn't get this out until a time later.
- 22:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Well, I got this out early.
- 22:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Is that gonna throw throw things off?
- 22:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'll say when life gets a little bit more more simple, simpler when we just focus on what we want to do, what we'd like to do.
- 22:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so again, I may want to film one day, one episode, it's not the whole day, and maybe other things come up that it's just not possible that particular day, and so I began to say internally to myself it's okay.
- 23:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If it's a particular idea, theme, event, and I want to make sure that it's exactly that, then I got I have to write it down so that I know that the next time we film, this is the topic, and these are the areas that we're going to go into.
- 23:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Things are so uh things change day to day, minute to minute, second to second, hour to hour, that I found that by being less wanting to do things on Justin's speed and more doing things on God's speed, then I'm a little bit more productive, actually a lot more productive, because I have less, there's less time that I'm that I'm getting upset, and going, oh well, there goes another opportunity, Justin.
- 24:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There goes another opportunity.
- 24:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There's gonna be opportunities that we're gonna be presented with that we're gonna be able to step up and step forward and accept them, and there's gonna be other ones that for one reason or another were not.
- 25:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And why is that?
- 25:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Because things happen in God's speed, not my speed, not your speed, not a friend's speed.
- 25:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Things happen in God's speed.
- 25:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And if you're not a believer, things happen in a speed that we cannot fully control and impact.
- 25:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We can try.
- 25:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Again, I'm not saying that we shouldn't try and that we shouldn't have dead certain deadlines and uh, but there's some things that we're we're not going to be able to control or impact as many things as we would like.
- 26:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I've just learned that through experience, and there's still times where I still try to force it, but as much as that happens, the more I'm reminded that things don't happen in Justin speed, things don't happen in voices for voices speed, things happen in God's speed.
- 26:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And the more that we come come to grips with that, or come to terms with that, I think maybe better, better term.
- 26:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: The more we come to terms with that, again, I think we'll be more productive.
- 27:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And by when I say more productive, I don't mean that we're always gonna be doing things and completing tasks.
- 27:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Some of that is rest and relaxation and self um self-care.
- 27:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So taking a day off from something may feel like we're not doing something, like oh missing out, not not doing much or not doing doing things on this particular day.
- 28:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But in God's speed, things will get done.
- 28:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If God wants them to get done, they'll get done.
- 28:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And they'll get done in God's speed, not my speed.
- 28:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And that includes rest, self-care, time away from whatever we're working on for a period of time.
- 28:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And again, is it a day?
- 28:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Is it an hour?
- 28:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's in God's hands.
- 29:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's who is guiding us.
- 29:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And if you're not a believer, there's some force at play.
- 29:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Whatever you would like to refer to that as.
- 31:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I can look and go, oh well, I this happened because of this, that, and the other.
- 31:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But why take why take the short amount of time we have on earth worrying about that?
- 31:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Why don't we just live?
- 31:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Things are gonna happen in God's speed, not our speed.
- 31:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So the quicker we understand that, or the quicker we understand that there's another higher power, as Cold Play has in one of their songs that talk about higher power, whatever that may be, maybe it's nothing.
- 32:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I I don't know.
- 32:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But I I believe that there's something else in play, and I attribute it to God.
- 32:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You don't have to.
- 32:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: In fact, we don't as a as a society and as a world, we think we don't want everybody to think like us.
- 32:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We don't want, we want to be unique, and we are, and so that's why things happen, and so we can look at like a friend or a colleague or a loved one and go, well, they did this thing in this amount of time, or it only took them you know, this number or that number, and that's where the comparing and the judgment and all those things come in.
- 33:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So when we think of God speed or higher power speed, it really helps us judge less, it really helps us judge less because we're not we don't get caught up in what others do.
- 33:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We can watch and uh root for and cheer cheer people on.
- 33:51Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We don't have to compare or judge, though.
- 33:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So, hey, I did that thing, great, that's great, somebody else did it too.
- 34:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Somebody else might in the future do it, and so when we take time that when we take that energy from the judging and the gossip, when we focus on facts, and the things happen in God's speed and not our speed, that opens up just a little bit in our brain, in our mind.
- 34:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And why is that important?
- 34:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Because we can use that brain power, that mind power to work on, to do something, to do nothing, to take a nap, to rejuvenate, to eat, to speak, to talk, to listen.
- 35:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so may God speed each and every one of our viewers, our listeners.
- 35:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We want to thank you for watching, thank you for listening.
- 35:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's because of you we're here, it's because of you, your demand of watching and listening all across the world.
- 35:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So catch us on a future episode and uh take a look at any previous episodes we we've we've had.
- 35:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We have quite the catalog, quite the vast, diverse catalog.
- 36:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And it's because of you that we're at the top of our game.
- 36:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And all we're doing is just being being human and being ourselves and letting things happen in Godspeed.
- 36:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So this has been Justin Allen Hayes, Voices for Voices.
- 36:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Thank you so much for joining us.
- 36:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Let your friends know.

- 36:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We can do it together.
- 36:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We can help.
- 36:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We're a uniter, not a divider.
- 36:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Have a great day, great evening, great morning, great afternoon, and we shall see you on the next show.
- 37:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Take care.
- 37:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Bye for now.
