- 0:00Speaker 1: We went out to dinner last night for Daddy Gary's birthday.
- 0:05Speaker 2: All right, you had the dinner at home yep, on Saturday,
- 0:09Speaker 2: and then went out to dinner and it was his choice.
- 0:11Speaker 3: He got two dinners and was it his choice where
- 0:15Speaker 3: we went?
- 0:15Speaker 1: No, my sister planned it, which it was great. We
- 0:18Speaker 1: went to Hearth and Hill and Sugarhouse.
- 0:21Speaker 3: It was good.
- 0:22Speaker 1: But you know, it's all us kids and our spouses.
- 0:26Speaker 1: It's a big group, a lot of people, and it's
- 0:28Speaker 1: all and.
- 0:29Speaker 3: We've we've how many do you think?
- 0:32Speaker 1: Two thirteen, fourteen people?
- 0:35Speaker 3: That's a big group.
- 0:36Speaker 1: But we've decided because Daddy Gary usually like.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Pays and for everybody.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Yeah, and we are all but we are all damn adults.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Yes, and.
- 0:50Speaker 1: It's time for Daddy Gary to stop paying.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Yes.
- 0:54Speaker 1: So before we went out to dinner, I sent out
- 0:57Speaker 1: a text to all the siblings and said, we are
- 0:59Speaker 1: all paying.
- 0:59Speaker 3: For our own food.
- 1:02Speaker 1: But then you go out to eat and it's this
- 1:05Speaker 1: big cluster of and you feel bad telling the white
- 1:10Speaker 1: staff do you mind if? And it was all your fault,
- 1:14Speaker 1: but it's still but it's it's always a problem. So
- 1:17Speaker 1: as we're talking about this last night, trying it and
- 1:19Speaker 1: somebody has cash and other people have and it's just
- 1:22Speaker 1: a My sister was telling me about a restaurant in
- 1:26Speaker 1: Vegas that they went to and it was a group
- 1:29Speaker 1: of friends. They were down and they went they went
- 1:30Speaker 1: to go to the NFR down there, the National Finals rodeo.
- 1:34Speaker 1: So it's a bunch of different couples out to dinner.
- 1:37Speaker 1: And after they delivered the food, the waiter said, there's
- 1:43Speaker 1: a QR code on the table. Scan that QR code
- 1:47Speaker 1: anytime you like, and it is set up where you're
- 1:52Speaker 1: and it says on the code you're sitting in seat
- 1:54Speaker 1: number one. So when you're and when you're with the
- 1:57Speaker 1: big group of people, sometimes you don't all get up
- 1:59Speaker 1: and leave at the same time. You want to leave
- 2:01Speaker 1: at different times. When you're ready to go, you just
- 2:04Speaker 1: scan your seat number and it's already figured out. Okay,
- 2:09Speaker 1: you were sitting there. You add a glass of cabernet
- 2:11Speaker 1: and a steak. It's all figured out. And so you
- 2:14Speaker 1: just pay for your So do you pay at at
- 2:18Speaker 1: at a No, just on your phone. You just pay
- 2:21Speaker 1: with your phone. The waiter never comes back. I think
- 2:25Speaker 1: that's genius. Every restaurant should have that. You just here's
- 2:30Speaker 1: your bill for your seat right here.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Then you have to hire some tech nerd to keep
- 2:34Speaker 2: that thing running for you.
- 2:36Speaker 1: What it's just an app. You have to hire a
- 2:40Speaker 1: tech nerd to do anything.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Pretty complicated. To do all of that. The app complicated.
- 2:47Speaker 3: It's already built. When the when.
- 2:49Speaker 1: The waiter comes a lot of restaurants have this. When
- 2:52Speaker 1: the waiter comes to table and you have they have
- 2:54Speaker 1: like a little handheld thing that they take well they do.
- 2:56Speaker 3: That almost almost exclusively now, so it's.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Easy when they're taking your order, like okay, you're in
- 3:02Speaker 1: seat number one, this is seat number one's order.
- 3:05Speaker 3: And I think it's a genius.
- 3:07Speaker 2: So my wife was in Europe a year ago, two
- 3:10Speaker 2: years ago, and she said, every place you go in
- 3:13Speaker 2: Europe they have that where the credit card never.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Loses leaves your site. You're right there.
- 3:20Speaker 2: And the main reason they've done that is to try
- 3:23Speaker 2: and prevent credit card fraud. And so that you're right there.
- 3:27Speaker 2: The waiter just gives you the little machine and you
- 3:30Speaker 2: put your card there and you see it.
- 3:32Speaker 3: All happen right there.
- 3:33Speaker 1: But I love this that you never ever again have
- 3:36Speaker 1: to go, Okay, well I had this and you had that,
- 3:39Speaker 1: and I'm going to give you twenty dollars and you
- 3:42Speaker 1: pay with your credit card, none of that.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I remember the bills. I now remember the last time
- 3:47Speaker 2: that happened to me. It was a big family gether
- 3:49Speaker 2: and it was so long ago. It was it Tokyo
- 3:51Speaker 2: boys and sushi, and it was a big group of
- 3:55Speaker 2: us and it was you know, the mother in law
- 3:59Speaker 2: and the mothers and the and I forget what the
- 4:01Speaker 2: event was, but we had a pretty big bill. And
- 4:04Speaker 2: so everybody then starts arguing about who's gonna pay what
- 4:07Speaker 2: and how's gonna play. And finally, finally Uncle Todd and I,
- 4:12Speaker 2: you know Todd and Narron Todd, Uncle Tod and I
- 4:14Speaker 2: just said hold it, everybody, stop, we're taking care of this.
- 4:19Speaker 2: No stop, we stop, We're taking and just the two
- 4:24Speaker 2: of us went and we just split it between two
- 4:25Speaker 2: credit cards.
- 4:26Speaker 3: And you know, because it was.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Just it does it gets it gets it makes it
- 4:31Speaker 1: so you don't want to go out with a big group.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Of people like that.
- 4:34Speaker 4: I don't like going out with a big group of
- 4:36Speaker 4: people anyway. Yeah, for any number of reason. Last time
- 4:40Speaker 4: we went to dinner, we just went with another couple
- 4:43Speaker 4: that we know, and we just we do what we
- 4:45Speaker 4: usually do, and that is order what you want and
- 4:47Speaker 4: we split it down the middle.
- 4:50Speaker 3: And hand them to credit cards. But you had more
- 4:54Speaker 3: than I did. What you had was more than I had.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Yeah, so, uh, we didn't go anywhere. We just made
- 5:02Speaker 4: your spaghetti sauce.
- 5:04Speaker 3: How that it turned out real good. He's the soy
- 5:07Speaker 3: sauce as the ingredient.
- 5:09Speaker 5: No, no, yeah, my thought was that it should be
- 5:15Speaker 5: actually Worcester, but no, we did do the soy sauce,
- 5:17Speaker 5: but it is in the original recipe.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I heard from a couple other people. Uh, Mama Barberi's
- 5:24Speaker 1: pasta sauce has taken on a life of its own.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I got emails from people saying we made it over
- 5:29Speaker 1: the weekend. It was great.
- 5:30Speaker 4: It got its own Instagram page.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Now what was her first name? Anita?
- 5:34Speaker 2: I think Anita is probably looking down from heaven right
- 5:37Speaker 2: now and saying, most of you are doing it wrong.
