- 0:49Hi everyone.
- 0:50Welcome to unique talks.
- 0:51Happy to see here.
- 0:53Um, today we got, uh, absolutely amazing racing driver was brilliant
- 0:57career, uh, in motorsport.
- 0:59Betsky Wieser.
- 0:59Betsky, welcome to any talks.
- 1:03Yeah, thank you.
- 1:04Yeah.
- 1:04Thank you so much for joining us today.
- 1:06Um, let's start with, uh, how you started your racing career.
- 1:11Um, I know that that's been in karting for us, for many racing drivers.
- 1:16Uh, so yeah, let's start with this.
- 1:19Uh, yeah, like many racing drivers, I started very young in, in karting.
- 1:24I started when I was five years old.
- 1:27Uh, I, I basically grew up around cars cause my parents, they
- 1:31used to have a car dealership.
- 1:33Um, so basically since I was a couple of days old, my mom took
- 1:38me back to work again with her.
- 1:40So I was always around there.
- 1:42Maybe from when I was around two, I was riding around the showroom
- 1:47on like, uh, how do you call them?
- 1:49That like those little cars where you have to use your feet to move forward.
- 1:54Um, and, and since I was three years old, I was starting to ask,
- 1:59um, to start with go karting.
- 2:00So yeah, then on my fifth birthday, I got a go kart and,
- 2:05uh, I was straight away addicted.
- 2:09What do you remember most about those days when you started karting?
- 2:12Like your first emotions when you get in, uh, being five years old?
- 2:17Um, well, it's difficult to, to remember exactly the emotions cause it's very long
- 2:22time ago, but, um, Yeah, I mean, if I look back at the pictures from then, I
- 2:27had a smile from ear to ear and, uh, I was always, uh, asking my parents that
- 2:33I wanted to go to the go kart track, um, every Wednesday afternoon out of
- 2:38school, I went to the track every weekend.
- 2:41Um, so yeah, I, I just loved being there.
- 2:45That's awesome.
- 2:46Uh, and I know that you had a really good, uh, racing career in karting,
- 2:50so you've been into Kiza 2 class, uh, so tell us more about, uh, this
- 2:54and then how you moved to the Formula S, uh, and like, uh, started your,
- 3:00um, big racing career after karting.
- 3:04Uh, yes.
- 3:05So when I was 14, I was, I was racing in junior still, um, but
- 3:11I was very tall, uh, for my age.
- 3:13Uh, so we were looking at what to do the next year and we
- 3:16thought about going to shifters.
- 3:18Um, everybody said that, uh, we were stupid because I was
- 3:21a young 14 year old girl.
- 3:23Uh, no way we could be strong enough.
- 3:26Uh, nobody would make that move, but.
- 3:29We did it anyway, and, uh, we got the chance to do it with Intrepid.
- 3:34Um, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions in my career because,
- 3:38uh, against anyone's expectations, uh, I managed to win the WSK
- 3:44championship, uh, on my first year.
- 3:47Um, and also the European championships, uh, I was, uh,
- 3:52leading until the, the last race.
- 3:55Um, So yeah, that, that was a very good move and, uh, very cool also to, to
- 4:01race in KZ, uh, like all over the world.
- 4:06Yeah, KZ2, uh, absolutely incredible, uh, class and karting,
- 4:11I think it's one of the best.
- 4:12It's really, uh, fast cars and, uh, karts, um, and also, you know,
- 4:18competitive, uh, uh, Class as well.
- 4:21Uh, so I know that he moved to DAC formal masters after this.
- 4:25And, um, I guess that you get into Red Bull during your program or that
- 4:30happened after a DAC formal masters?
- 4:34Uh, well, the, the first year I, I raced in ADAC formal masters, uh, I was with
- 4:41And I had a pretty good season, even though I also had two very big crashes,
- 4:46so I didn't do the whole championship.
- 4:48Um, and then after that, uh, I signed with Red Bull and did another
- 4:53year in, uh, ADAC formal masters.
- 4:56But, uh, unfortunately the second year didn't, we didn't get the
- 5:00results, uh, which we were hoping for.
- 5:02Uh, But yeah, we still got, uh, some podiums and some wins.
- 5:07So still not terrible season, but not, uh, not what we expected.
- 5:11Mm hmm.
- 5:12Uh, how was it to you to be a Red Bull, uh, in Red Bull program?
- 5:17How was it for you?
- 5:18I know that you, uh, left the program, um, and, uh, you, you
- 5:22wasn't really satisfied with this.
- 5:24Uh, so.
- 5:25Tell me more about this.
- 5:27Well, with the program itself, I was, I was very happy.
- 5:30Um, they, they helped a lot with preparing for the, for the races.
- 5:35Um, I went to the, the simulator in Milton Keynes, um, yeah,
- 5:39to do simulator work there.
- 5:41And, uh, also they gave me a trainer.
- 5:45Um, so he would write me training programs.
- 5:48I would go on training camps.
- 5:50Um, To, to make sure I'm fit and, uh, fun fact, this trainer
- 5:54is still my trainer today.
- 5:56Um, so yeah, he's definitely been, uh, been a good trainer and, uh, yeah, I
- 6:02mean, they, they just give you a lot of support and, uh, for the races.
- 6:06So the program itself has definitely been good.
- 6:09I was just disappointed with the results that year.
- 6:14Uh, what kind of results do you have, uh, with Red Bull?
- 6:18Uh, I think I finished B8 in a championship, uh, but we were hoping
- 6:25for a top three in a championship.
- 6:26All right.
- 6:27So you just, uh, didn't meet your expectations for the championship.
- 6:32That's understandable.
- 6:34Definitely.
- 6:35Uh, so then, uh, you moved to Formula Renault 3.
- 6:385.
- 6:39I remember I watched a few of your races when you raced there and, uh, you know,
- 6:43that's a big car, uh, almost like a F2.
- 6:46Uh, and, uh, how was it for you to move from like a junior
- 6:50Formula to higher level Formulas?
- 6:55This was again, a very massive step, like I did in karting.
- 6:58Um, but like, uh, ADHC Formula Masters is basically like Formula 4.
- 7:04Even a little bit slower.
- 7:05And then Formula Renault 3.
- 7:065 is like Formula 2.
- 7:08So I skipped all the steps in between and went straight, straight up there.
- 7:13So we knew the first year was going to be a learning year.
- 7:17Also physically, we knew that I would have to work very hard because, you
- 7:22know, there's no force, um, power steering and, uh, Yeah, there's a
- 7:30lot of G forces in the corner, so I would have to train very hard.
- 7:34Um, so I moved to Spain to be with the, with the team.
- 7:38And, uh, basically every day I was there, I woke up, I went to the gym,
- 7:42then I went to the team, I drove on the simulator, I went back to the team.
- 7:46Gym to train again.
- 7:47And, and that was, that was my day.
- 7:49But, uh, yeah, I got, I got strong enough, which was good.
- 7:53And, uh, yeah, for sure it was a, a very difficult championship.
- 7:58'cause you, you had, uh, basically it was the, the stepping
- 8:01stone for, uh, formula One.
- 8:03Mm-hmm . So, yeah, it was, was very cool to, to register.
- 8:08Yeah, definitely.
- 8:08That's a completely different series compared to what you raised before.
- 8:13Uh, you mentioned that you had, like, really hard training.
- 8:17Uh, did you do this, uh, every day or you had, like, a few days
- 8:21in a week when you did this?
- 8:24Uh, so Monday to Fri to Friday was like that.
- 8:27Uh, so two times gym.
- 8:30Uh, through the, throughout the day and then like in between, I was on the
- 8:33simulator at the team and then I was living in Barcelona and, uh, on, on,
- 8:39I remember on Tuesday and Thursdays in the evening, the, the track, the
- 8:44racetrack would open for bicycles.
- 8:45So I would go cycling there and, uh, in the weekends I would have usually one day
- 8:51off and the other day some easy cardio, but yeah, it, it was, it was hard work.
- 8:56Yeah.
- 8:58Yeah.
- 8:58Uh, did this, uh, hard work help you, uh, to feel better in the formal Renault 3.
- 9:035?
- 9:03Like, uh, physically, did you manage to, like, maybe feel more relaxed in
- 9:08the, uh, in the race, uh, with all this, uh, training, which you did?
- 9:14Yeah, definitely.
- 9:15I mean, it's a very physical car to drive.
- 9:17Uh, and if you get tired, you're throughout the race, um, you're going
- 9:22to lose concentration and you're going to start to make mistakes.
- 9:25Um, and when you drive cars that fast, you cannot afford that.
- 9:28So you need to make sure you are fitting off, uh, which is what we did.
- 9:33And, uh, yeah, so that was needed.
- 9:37That's great.
- 9:38Um, so, uh, moving forward for your career, uh, then I think you get
- 9:45into BMW Motorsport Junior program, uh, and started to race in GT force.
- 9:51Yeah.
- 9:51So that, that's also different discipline for you.
- 9:55Um, how was the transition from open wheelers to GT cars for you?
- 10:00Was it really hard to get used to GT cars after foremost?
- 10:05Um, it's a very different driving style.
- 10:08I mean, first of all, the, the formula car is like 700 kilos and then you
- 10:12go to the GT4, which is double.
- 10:15Um, so yeah, the driving style is very different.
- 10:18Also, um, suddenly I was doing endurance racing.
- 10:22I suddenly had a teammate.
- 10:25So yeah, that's also different like, uh, Yeah, you need to take care of the
- 10:31tires and all that stuff, but also on the setup side, normally I was used
- 10:36to make the setup like how I wanted.
- 10:39And now you had to discuss with your teammate, what do you like?
- 10:42What do I like?
- 10:43What's a compromise?
- 10:45How are we going to be together the quickest?
- 10:48Um, so yeah, it was a bit of a change, but, um, with BMW, uh, my
- 10:54teammates was that year also a junior.
- 10:56Um, and yeah, we, we, we were all coming from formula cars, but,
- 11:01uh, uh, we all knew each other from a long time before already.
- 11:06So we got on very well and, uh, yeah, we spent a lot of time together and,
- 11:12uh, we're working well together.
- 11:14Mm hmm.
- 11:15That's awesome that you get this different experience.
- 11:19Do you prefer spring races or endurance is like after all this
- 11:24years being in spring races?
- 11:27Do you feel that you, um, you know, like feeling that endurance is?
- 11:31Uh, better in some ways, uh, because personally, I really like
- 11:35endurance races and, uh, racing.
- 11:37Uh, it's a completely different, um, mindset, which you got for the race.
- 11:41And I really like to work with the team all the time.
- 11:44So how was it for you?
- 11:47I like both.
- 11:48If I can say that, um, yeah, I like sprint racing because I think the fighting
- 11:53on track is a bit more aggressive, but then I also like to drive a lot.
- 11:58And in endurance racing, you drive a lot.
- 12:00Um, So, uh, yeah, I, I would like to do both.
- 12:07All right.
- 12:07That's great.
- 12:08Uh, note that you've been a part of a W series.
- 12:12Uh, let's talk about this and, uh, how do you feel about this program?
- 12:16And do you feel, uh, sad about the W series?
- 12:19Uh, unfortunately stopped to, uh, continue their program, uh, for this years.
- 12:26I enjoyed racing there, definitely.
- 12:28Um, I mean, it was, it was a good chance for, for many girls to, to show
- 12:33what, uh, what we could do and that, uh, we can be as good as the guys.
- 12:39And also to, to show to many little girls that, um, are, are maybe like
- 12:45seven, eight years old or whatever age, uh, that, uh, it's not, Just a men's
- 12:51sport that a woman can do it as well.
- 12:53So, uh, yeah, I enjoyed being there.
- 12:58How do you feel for your career to be a female racing driver?
- 13:03Do you feel any pressure being in a men's dominated sports?
- 13:08Uh, so what do you think about this?
- 13:12I mean, I don't feel any pressure from it.
- 13:14I mean, many people are.
- 13:15ask me like, how does it feel to be like the only girl or one of
- 13:19the few girls in a man's world?
- 13:22Let's say, um, I don't know any difference of me doing this since I'm five years old.
- 13:27So I don't know any other world than this, but, um, I think for woman, it's,
- 13:33it's harder to, to get the respect.
- 13:36Let's say, uh, if you win one race, they say, oh, it's lucky.
- 13:40Uh, you need to win quite a few more before they say,
- 13:43okay, She's actually good.
- 13:45But, uh, yeah, I think, um, with my results, I have gained that respect
- 13:52at least from, uh, when I'm at the, at the racetrack and stuff, I think
- 13:57every driver, uh, uh, respects me.
- 14:00So I'm, I'm quite, quite happy, or not every driver, but almost every
- 14:05time you will never have every driver respecting you, I think.
- 14:09A lot of drivers do respect me and the teams as well.
- 14:13Um, I think most of the, the hate or, yeah, I don't know how to call it against
- 14:20women is actually on social media.
- 14:23Um, it's when you are like anonymous, uh, typing on your keyboard.
- 14:28Nobody knows who you are.
- 14:29You can say whatever you want, but they're not going to say that to your face.
- 14:35Yeah, definitely.
- 14:36I agree with you.
- 14:37And also, you know, some, some guys, they're really upset when
- 14:41you are winning them on track also.
- 14:44Yeah, I have to say it has taken me some time.
- 14:47I know in karting many times, um, they, they pushed me off the track a lot.
- 14:53Um, yeah.
- 14:55And I mean, you notice when they push you off more than they push others off.
- 15:00And, um, basically my, my parents raised me with, uh, They
- 15:07basically told me, if they push you off, you push them off harder.
- 15:11You have to, even if it's going to cost you a race, cause I've gotten penalties
- 15:16for that as well, but, um, I had to do it to get respect and to, to show
- 15:24them that they cannot mess with me.
- 15:26And I think the best way to show it is, uh, being quick and being front.
- 15:31at the front every time again, but, uh, also you, you have to
- 15:35show that they cannot mess with you by just pushing you off.
- 15:39Yeah.
- 15:40I think that's the right way just to pay back what they give to you.
- 15:44Yeah.
- 15:45Uh, kind of, um, can you tell me when did you start, uh, sim racing?
- 15:49Like, uh, was it long time ago?
- 15:51You started, uh, like when you get into once 2020.
- 15:59Um, I started quite late, actually.
- 16:01Well, I've done a lot of driving on the simulators, like the race teams I raced
- 16:05at, but actual sim racing, like the rig I have at home, I started during COVID.
- 16:13Then I was still with BMW, so they told me what simulator to get.
- 16:18And, uh, Yeah, that's, that's when I started.
- 16:21So 2020.
- 16:23So as, uh, many racing drivers, I think get into sim racing in 2020
- 16:27during pandemic, uh, here we had, uh, like a lot of e sport leagues, uh,
- 16:32going in a lot of, uh, championships.
- 16:34Uh, that's really cool.
- 16:36Um, So, you've been a part, also, of Richard Mille's, uh, Mille, uh, racing
- 16:41team in, uh, European Le Mans series.
- 16:44Um, how was this experience, uh, compared to Formula 3.
- 16:485, uh, because you've been driving the prototype, uh, as I'm aware?
- 16:53Uh, yes, I did a lot of this different disciplines.
- 16:57Um, yeah, the LMP2 was a very cool car to drive very fast.
- 17:02It's a bit in the middle between formula car and GT car, the way you drive it.
- 17:09And yeah, I've been lucky enough to do Le Mans twice.
- 17:13Um, so yeah, that was very special to be part of that team.
- 17:16Um, I think we had a good team of drivers with Sophia and Tatiana, uh, who I also
- 17:22already knew from, from karting and, uh, we were a very strong team together.
- 17:28So, uh, yeah, that was, uh, very, very cool that Richard Mill gave us, uh,
- 17:33the chance to, to do that program.
- 17:37That's really cool.
- 17:38There you got, uh, You know, you're into different disciplines of, uh, racing and,
- 17:43uh, you've been driving the different cars and how you managed to, like, uh,
- 17:48balance and get used to, uh, fast enough to the new car when you jump into it.
- 17:55Uh, a lot of simulator.
- 17:57Uh, that.
- 17:59That helps a lot.
- 18:00And, uh, yeah, even when I drive on the simulator now, I, I
- 18:04drive, uh, random different cars.
- 18:06Um, I think it helps with getting, uh, adapted quickly to two different cars.
- 18:12So I drive in real life as well.
- 18:14And, uh, yeah, also when I arrive at the track, you, you need to sort
- 18:19of turn a switch like in your head.
- 18:22Okay.
- 18:23endurance driving style, GT driving style, uh, prototype driving style.
- 18:28Um, yeah, it's just a switch you need to, to change.
- 18:31And, uh, depending how quickly you can change that switch.
- 18:36Um, what's your thing about, uh, how close the simulators right
- 18:41now in 2025, uh, to real life?
- 18:44Um, so what do you think about this?
- 18:47I think it's pretty good.
- 18:49Um, I think the driving style, uh, for me, for me, I, I like iRacing the most.
- 18:55I think it's the most, uh, realistic, um, and yeah, just the way you need to drive.
- 19:01Obviously you're going to have, uh, some, some differences, especially in, in races.
- 19:06Uh, people, uh, crash a little bit more in the sim than in, in real life.
- 19:11Um, But yeah, there's a lot of things you, you can already get used to on the same,
- 19:16like breaking points might be slightly different, obviously, but, uh, you can
- 19:21get reference points already, like curves and stuff, what to use, what not to use.
- 19:27Um, so yeah, I, I think it, it helps a lot to prepare for the rewards.
- 19:34That's great.
- 19:34They're using a simulator to prepare for your Real life racing, uh, I think
- 19:39many, uh, racing drivers doing this.
- 19:42And, uh, actually I did also, uh, when I race in real life.
- 19:46Um, I remember that you had, uh, some kind of tradition that you, uh, got
- 19:53one glove blue and the other red.
- 19:55Are you still doing this tradition?
- 19:59Uh, yeah, I think I had it since I was like six or seven years old.
- 20:03So, um, right now I have, uh, one red, one white.
- 20:08Um, I don't really mind the colors anymore, but I like
- 20:12to have two different ones.
- 20:14How this, uh, actually started?
- 20:16Do you remember this?
- 20:19I have absolutely no idea.
- 20:24Judging by the fact that I was like six or seven years old, I think
- 20:27it was, uh, my parents idea, but, uh, uh, yeah, I just kept it, kept
- 20:33doing it and, uh, yeah, I like it.
- 20:37That's awesome that you got some kind of mini tradition for yourself.
- 20:42It's really cool.
- 20:43Um, so what races did you do in, uh, uh, in the previous year
- 20:49and did you do any in real life?
- 20:52Uh, so last year I, I raced nor Life mm-hmm . Um, in, in the GT
- 20:57four with the girls only team, uh, and the 24 hour Newberg Green.
- 21:02Um, so yeah, that was, that was very cool.
- 21:05Um, I did, uh, 24 hours older in, uh, M two.
- 21:11Um, and, uh, I did, uh, some, uh, did the 24 hour spa in C1
- 21:18cup, um, which is also fun.
- 21:21The car is not very fast, but it's 120 of the same car, so it
- 21:24makes for, for really fun racing.
- 21:27And, uh, I tested, uh, formally in, uh, November, so yeah, that
- 21:33was also a very cool experience.
- 21:36Tell us more about formal e experience and, uh, how is it to drive a car.
- 21:42with an electric car on the racing track?
- 21:46It's again, very, very different.
- 21:48Um, because, uh, yeah, with, with normal combustion engines,
- 21:52um, the amount of power you get depends a bit on the RPM as well.
- 21:56And, um, with, uh, the electric engine, you get like the full power instantly.
- 22:03I think it's definitely, I think the Formula E is the fastest racing car
- 22:08in the world from zero to a hundred.
- 22:11Uh, I, I actually did a practice start there as well, and I could really feel
- 22:15my head moving backwards cause it's 1.
- 22:188 seconds from zero to a hundred.
- 22:20Wow.
- 22:21So yeah, it's, that's very cool.
- 22:24Um, and yeah, It's just, just a very different feeling, especially on the
- 22:31brakes, I would say, um, because you don't really use the normal brakes,
- 22:35um, or you try not to, you, you're mainly braking with regenerating
- 22:42the energy, um, so the feeling of the, of the pedal is very different.
- 22:48But yeah, in the end, all in all, it's a very cool car to drive.
- 22:53And speaking about braking, I think, uh, car weight, uh, a bit more, yeah,
- 22:57due to, uh, all like electric side stuff and, uh, batteries and all these things.
- 23:04And that's, uh, definitely also, um, Kind of changing the breaking, right?
- 23:10Yeah, it's, it's, yeah, because of the batteries, it's a little bit heavier
- 23:14than the, than a normal formula car, but it's still a lot lighter than a GT car.
- 23:19I think in terms of weight, it's quite similar to a LMP2.
- 23:24Got it.
- 23:25Uh, and you mentioned that you race in, uh, Europe, uh, 24.
- 23:30Was it your first, uh, 24 hours of, uh, N Life or you did this,
- 23:34uh, before in your career?
- 23:37Uh, I think, uh, well I did one in 2018 with BMW.
- 23:42Mm-hmm . So I've only done 24 hour neuro recruiting in A-B-M-W-G-G four
- 23:46Uh, so I did it 2018, um, 2022, and.
- 23:52Three.
- 23:53Mm hmm.
- 23:55Um, how was this, uh, experience, uh, like, uh, this is a absolutely unique,
- 24:00uh, racing track, uh, thing which we got, uh, on our planet, uh, it's really
- 24:05long and how was it for you to, like, memorize all corners and, uh, all
- 24:10track, uh, put all things together?
- 24:14Uh, yeah, I think the 24 hour Nürburgring is the most crazy
- 24:18race there is in the world.
- 24:19Um, I think you cannot compare it to anything else.
- 24:23Um, you have 150 cars on track.
- 24:26Okay, the track is a bit longer than normal, but the speed difference
- 24:30between the classes is crazy.
- 24:33You have a GT3 who does eight minutes per lap, and then you have a Dacia racing
- 24:39there who is doing 13 minutes per lap.
- 24:41So you can imagine how crazy it is on track and especially during
- 24:47the night because there is no lights at all around the track.
- 24:51So it's super, super dark.
- 24:53And the crazy thing you have around there is there's fans everywhere around the
- 24:58track camping And uh, they have barbecues at night, but when they turn the barbecues
- 25:04off it becomes, uh, foggy on track So at night we have fog on track, which is not
- 25:12actual fog but it's from the barbecues.
- 25:16So, and you can actually smell the barbecue in the car as well.
- 25:21This is funny.
- 25:24Um, what, uh, kind of events, uh, do you take a part in sim racing,
- 25:29uh, like long endurances and what upcoming, uh, endurances, uh, you
- 25:35planning to do, uh, near time?
- 25:38Uh, so this weekend I'm doing Daytona 24 hour.
- 25:42Um, and for the rest, I have nothing planned yet.
- 25:45It depends a bit on my, my schedule with real racing as well.
- 25:49But, uh, yeah, when I'm at home in between races, I, I try to drive on the
- 25:54simulator and then I'll see what comes up.
- 25:59Uh, I know that you're going to take a part in Daytona
- 26:0224, uh, with the Dream Team.
- 26:04Um, so how's, uh, practice going for this event?
- 26:09Do you like this track?
- 26:10Do you like the car which you're going to drive in iRacing?
- 26:14Uh, yeah, it's been good.
- 26:16Um, the track is a nice track.
- 26:19It's, uh, quite, quite tricky.
- 26:21Um, with, uh, with some break, hard braking zones.
- 26:25Um, and also we don't know yet, uh, might be some rain during the race.
- 26:29So that could be entertaining.
- 26:31Uh, we'll be driving the LMP2 car.
- 26:35Um, so I, I know the car quite well from real life, um, and I've done quite a
- 26:40few, um, I racing races in that car as well, although it's quite some time ago.
- 26:46So, um, yeah, I'm enjoying the car and, uh, we've, we've actually,
- 26:51we're practicing just until we started, uh, this stream now.
- 26:55So, um, yeah, it's been good.
- 26:58Uh, I think we have a good team.
- 27:01Nice, uh, wish you good luck for this event, uh, I think a lot of sim racers
- 27:06are going to take a part in this, as this is one of the biggest events,
- 27:09uh, which we're running in sim racing, um, I'm pretty sure it's going to be
- 27:14a cool one, uh, especially with adding some rain, uh, I remember, uh, People,
- 27:19previous year, um, was thinking about that we're going to get rain maybe by
- 27:25surprise with, uh, with iRacing because iRacing didn't, uh, like, edit, uh, yet.
- 27:31Um, but yeah, this year, uh, it's going to be with rain, I think, during
- 27:35the night or something like this.
- 27:37Uh, we'll see how it's, uh, going to be.
- 27:40Um, what is your plans for, uh, upcoming year and real life racing?
- 27:47Uh, so I will race at the Nordschleife again, uh, but for
- 27:51the rest, uh, I don't know yet.
- 27:54What would you like, uh, to, to have?
- 27:56Maybe, maybe you dream about some kind of, uh, racing series, uh,
- 28:01where you want to see yourself?
- 28:04Not specifically for, for this year, but, um, I would love to, to be more involved
- 28:11in formally and to, to raise their, and if you share, um, and, uh, I'm doing that
- 28:16on a 24 hour, the same this weekend, but I would love to, to do it in real life.
- 28:21Um, and you know, like all the, the big races, uh, I've done Lamar twice, but it's
- 28:26still pretty high up on my bucket list.
- 28:29Um, And, you know, the, the big GT3 championships or, uh, or, uh, prototypes
- 28:37in ELMS, WEC, uh, GT World Challenge, IMSA, um, I don't know, I can keep
- 28:44going, but, yeah, like, like all those big races, I, I always, uh, enjoy to do.
- 28:51Yeah, because you, uh, you're good in, uh, like many different disciplines.
- 28:56Uh, you don't mind what to race.
- 28:57Yeah, really?
- 28:59I would love to race every weekend.
- 29:01Yeah, I got it.
- 29:02Uh, would you like to race in United States?
- 29:05Maybe, uh, what do you think about, uh, American tracks?
- 29:09Because personally in racing, uh, as we got a lot of American
- 29:13tracks here, I really like them.
- 29:15I like, uh, Road Atlanta, Road America.
- 29:17I think, uh, these are great tracks and, uh, they, A bit different with
- 29:22feelings compared to European tracks.
- 29:26I would love to race in the US.
- 29:29I think I've said that many times already.
- 29:31I've done two karting races there at the Scusa International in Vegas.
- 29:38And I did Daytona, but the four hour race before the 24 hour.
- 29:46I think it was very cool.
- 29:49I like the atmosphere there.
- 29:51I like how enthousiastic the people are.
- 29:54So I always enjoy when I'm there.
- 29:57And I think the tracks are super cool.
- 30:01They're a bit old school.
- 30:03Um, so you have no room for error, which also makes it very difficult.
- 30:07Uh, especially if you are new there and having to learn the tracks, you
- 30:10cannot afford to, to make any mistakes.
- 30:13But, uh, yeah, I think on, on iRacing, one of my favorite
- 30:16tracks is actually Watkins Glen.
- 30:18So that's already in the U S uh, that's.
- 30:21Yeah, apart from Daytona, I have not raced, uh, driven
- 30:24on any, uh, track in the U.
- 30:26S.
- 30:27yet.
- 30:28Mm hmm.
- 30:28So hopefully in the future, uh, you'll get to Watkins Glen.
- 30:32Uh, this is one of my favorite track too after Road Atlanta.
- 30:36I really like it because it's with up and downs, uh, and
- 30:40going with a really good flow.
- 30:42So I love the road Atlanta.
- 30:44Um, what can you tell to girls, uh, who wants to start racing?
- 30:49Who wants to start some racing?
- 30:50What will be your advice to them?
- 30:55My advice is, um, do what you like.
- 30:59So if you enjoy it, go and do it.
- 31:02Um, don't care what anyone else says.
- 31:05Um, I mean, if they give you advice, listen to it for sure.
- 31:09But if they tell you anything stupid that you can't do it because you're
- 31:13a woman or whatever, don't listen.
- 31:16Um, and yeah, just, just start, uh, by practicing whether it's
- 31:22on the same or in real life.
- 31:24Um, for sure it's not a cheap sport, but, um, you can, you can definitely
- 31:30find ways to, to start cheaper.
- 31:32And, uh, work your way up from, from there.
- 31:37What do you think in your opinion, uh, what we should do for the future,
- 31:43like to get more girls into racing and sim racing, maybe like another,
- 31:48uh, women's series, uh, racing series can help, or maybe some leaks in
- 31:53sim racing, uh, something like this.
- 31:55What do you think about this?
- 31:57I think it's already changing a lot in the right direction.
- 32:02Like you, you have one academy now, um, and you have the girls on track program.
- 32:08I think that's actually a really good program because they're, they, they
- 32:14find the girls at the, at the young age in, in schools and at events and stuff.
- 32:19Um, and then they show you.
- 32:21Show them not just the, the racing driver, but also the
- 32:24engineering side, the mechanic side.
- 32:27Um, because in the end there's also a lot of, uh, girls and women that want to be
- 32:31an engineer or a mechanic or any other part of the, of the racing business.
- 32:37And, um, so yeah, I, I think that's actually where it should start at
- 32:42a young age because, um, everyone that's at the top started for the
- 32:47driver started at a, at a young age.
- 32:49So, um.
- 32:51Yeah, you have to start getting the, the young girls excited for, for racing
- 32:55and then, uh, work their way to, through karting and then into motorsport.
- 33:00So it's, it's not a thing that one year to the next, you can change it
- 33:05because, uh, six, seven year olds are not from one day to the next
- 33:09going to be ready for Formula One.
- 33:10It, it takes 15 years or even more.
- 33:14Um, so yeah, it's, it's a long progress, but I, I think, uh, they are definitely
- 33:19doing, uh, doing the good things.
- 33:22Yeah, definitely.
- 33:23Like, uh, given more visibility for girls who's like already in racing
- 33:27and, uh, in some racing, uh, going to help, uh, to show, uh, young age, uh,
- 33:32girls, uh, to get into racing as well.
- 33:35I agree with you in this.
- 33:37Um, what do you think when we're going to see, uh, a woman in, uh, formal
- 33:42one, like, is it going to happen really soon or maybe in 10 years?
- 33:46What's your opinion about this?
- 33:50That depends on a lot of things.
- 33:52Um, you need to have someone that's good enough.
- 33:57You need to have someone that has enough money.
- 34:00That's probably the most important part.
- 34:03And you need to have a chance available.
- 34:07Like, um, you see it also with the guys.
- 34:11Um, Actually, this year is going to be a very good year because we're going to
- 34:15have like four or five rookies in there, which is very unique, because if you look
- 34:19at previous years, I think there has been three or four years in a row where the
- 34:24winner in Formula 2 did not get a seat.
- 34:27Um, so, yeah, it's going You need to have the talent, you need to
- 34:32have the money and it, you need to be there at the right moment.
- 34:37Mm-hmm . Yeah.
- 34:38I think, and that all needs to, to fit together.
- 34:40Mm-hmm . It's really complicated.
- 34:42I agree with you.
- 34:43Um, it's, it's funny because, you know, in IndyCar for example, we see women like
- 34:49racing in two thousands and, uh, like, uh.
- 34:53Quite a lot compared to formal one, of course, uh, because in formal one,
- 34:57we didn't get any, uh, girls racing, uh, in recent, like 10 years or so.
- 35:03That's really sad.
- 35:05Yeah, well, hopefully in the future again, yeah, hopefully we'll get someone in the
- 35:10formal one and, uh, maybe more girls going to go into the karting, into simulators.
- 35:16as well.
- 35:17Um, and did you try any other simulators or are you just
- 35:22really focused on racing only?
- 35:26I've tried some others.
- 35:27Uh, I've done a couple of races in R Factor.
- 35:32And I think that's, I've tried some other sims, but not really races, but, uh,
- 35:40Personally, I find iRacing the, uh, the most realistic in the way I have to drive.
- 35:46Mm hmm.
- 35:48Okay.
- 35:49And, uh, the last one will be, I think, um, so I already asked, uh, but if you
- 35:55have like a free time, uh, during the, uh, this year, yeah, um, apart from your
- 36:00real life racing, uh, would you like to do some, uh, other special events, uh, maybe
- 36:06in iRacing, uh, like some endurances?
- 36:11Uh, yeah, sure.
- 36:13Um, I mean, I don't know my full program yet for the, for this year, but, uh, when
- 36:18I'm home, I always enjoy joy sim racing.
- 36:20So, uh, yeah, I will try to, to do maybe some iRacing specials or, um, maybe
- 36:28just some random iRacing league race or, uh, I received official races, uh,
- 36:34during some weeks that, that I'm home.
- 36:38Okay.
- 36:38Uh, so thank you so much for being here.
- 36:40That was a pleasure for me to talk with you about your absolutely amazing career,
- 36:47which is started at a fairly young age.
- 36:49Uh, and we really hope to see more girls into motorsports and to
- 36:53some racing as well, and, uh, we wish you good luck for Daytona 24.
- 36:57I hope race will go well.
- 37:00For everybody in your team.
- 37:01Thank you so much.
- 37:03Yeah.
- 37:03Thank you.
