- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up
- 0:05Speaker 1: next to you
- 0:06Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way, it's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Well, believe it or not,
- 0:13Speaker 1: we only have a few more days left of October
- 0:16Speaker 1: to go. Hey, you're right, if you think about it.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, spooky season is upon us, Sonia. Halloween.
- 0:22Speaker 1: That's for sure, and Scorpio season as well. Singapore's number
- 0:28Speaker 1: one hit music station.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Good morning. Thanks for joining us this 20th of October.
- 0:35Speaker 1: As October comes to a close very soon, we might
- 0:39Speaker 1: be counting down to the next public holiday, which is Deepavali.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Deepavali is absolutely right. So we had to wait close
- 0:45Speaker 1: to 3 months for a public holiday. That was after
- 0:48Speaker 1: NDP August 9th. Deepavali falls on a Sunday, OK, 8th November.
- 0:54Speaker 1: That means
- 0:54Speaker 1: Monday is a holiday weekend. No wonder, no wonder my, um,
- 0:59Speaker 1: one of my girlfriends said, you want to go to
- 1:01Speaker 1: Bangkok this weekend? I was like, Oh yeah, what was that? Yeah,
- 1:04Speaker 1: there's a spare holiday. So if you play your cards right,
- 1:07Speaker 1: maybe say take leave on the 6th of November, that's Friday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday,
- 1:12Speaker 1: unless of course you are celebrating Deepavali with family and friends,
- 1:16Speaker 1: then you got to stay and welcome all your.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Aunties and uncles. Yeah, I mean, look, Joakim and I
- 1:20Speaker 1: don't mind if you invite us. We'll come there. We'll be,
- 1:22Speaker 1: we'll be over at your house. Shout out Pretty please.
- 1:26Speaker 1: The last function that I went to was her place. Actually,
- 1:28Speaker 1: I think it might have been the same. So Pretty
- 1:30Speaker 1: and Mama Sarah, if you want to invite me, sure,
- 1:32Speaker 1: I'll be there. Yes, we are. Maybe today we can
- 1:35Speaker 1: see the daisies a lot more clear because the haze situation,
- 1:40Speaker 1: I don't know, I look, sorry about that. I'm looking
- 1:42Speaker 1: at the haze map according to our friends over at
- 1:45Speaker 1: NEA haze.gov.sg.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Singapore is like in the middle where there's no smoke yet,
- 1:52Speaker 1: but the smoke is around us so winds, please be favorable. I,
- 1:58Speaker 1: I mean, I actually, I don't want to jinx it,
- 2:00Speaker 1: but my friends and I were just saying yesterday that
- 2:03Speaker 1: things look like it's getting a lot better. Yeah, you can't. No,
- 2:07Speaker 1: but you see, the thing is like, you know, when
- 2:08Speaker 1: I was driving yesterday in the evening, right, um, typically
- 2:12Speaker 1: over the past few weeks, the horizon has been.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Like murky and gray and you can't even see some
- 2:17Speaker 1: of the buildings in the background, but as of yesterday,
- 2:19Speaker 1: I was like, OK, I can see something. Yeah, so
- 2:24Speaker 1: the PSI forecast is actually between 90 to 160 for today.
- 2:29Speaker 1: So if you're planning any outdoor activities, you might want
- 2:31Speaker 1: to follow this reading over at hay.gov.sg. Yeah, so, um,
- 2:35Speaker 1: I think for those of you who are affected, you know,
- 2:39Speaker 1: with your own existing conditions and all that.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Um, just try to remain indoors as much as possible.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Is Silent Hills Resident Evil as well. I think there
- 2:52Speaker 1: was one, was it YOLO that posted it that showed
- 2:55Speaker 1: Tampines in
- 2:58Speaker 1: Tampines 2 weeks ago and then Tampines now. But actually,
- 3:01Speaker 1: but then the now picture that now that the haze
- 3:04Speaker 1: has cleared up a little bit, it's like not even
- 3:06Speaker 1: the same country.
- 3:07Speaker 1: It's like, it's like a waterfall somewhere like in New
- 3:11Speaker 1: Zealand or something. You can trust him to do that.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I know. And also, did you see a coordinating Minister
- 3:17Speaker 1: for Home Affairs Shanmugam's doorstop interview yesterday? Very fierce, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 3:22Speaker 1: very fierce. Not to be messy. Yeah, exactly.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Time for some Bodo crime. In case you just joined
- 3:28Speaker 1: us or maybe it's your first time tuning in to us.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Bordorime is a piece of crime news where we just
- 3:33Speaker 1: want a face palm ad, OK. Face palm worthy related
- 3:37Speaker 1: crime news. You ready? Yes. 123. B, crime, crime, crime.
- 3:44Speaker 1: And where are we going today? The boisterous streets of
- 3:47Speaker 1: Beach Road. Yes, actually Beach Road quite prominent. Oh, is it?
- 3:51Speaker 1: Well, um, it's Beach Road Hotel to be exact. So, um, yeah,
- 3:55Speaker 1: I mean, it's still Beach Road, right? It's still along
- 3:57Speaker 1: Beach Road. In a hotel. Um, yes. So it's the
- 4:01Speaker 1: reason why it's a very a hotel is because it's
- 4:03Speaker 1: related to a wedding.
- 4:04Speaker 1: So I don't know if you can see where I'm
- 4:06Speaker 1: going with this, but you know, when I did my
- 4:09Speaker 1: wedding just a few months ago, right, I did assign, um,
- 4:12Speaker 1: one person during like the church ceremony to guard the
- 4:16Speaker 1: ang Pao box. You had the fiercest person in charge,
- 4:18Speaker 1: I think I did, to make sure that, hey, no
- 4:21Speaker 1: one see anything put inside. OK, thank you. Wait, who was,
- 4:23Speaker 1: who was?
- 4:24Speaker 1: Fierce. Was it one of your friends? It was Chris, dude. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 4:27Speaker 1: he was here. OK, thank you. No more. No, he's
- 4:32Speaker 1: just very alert. He's very alert, but I don't think
- 4:34Speaker 1: he was fierce. Um, and in the evening, I did, uh,
- 4:38Speaker 1: assign two of my girlfriends to do it, so they interchanged,
- 4:42Speaker 1: they can at least go take a rest, rest, right? Um,
- 4:44Speaker 1: unfortunately for this guy, he decided it was a smart
- 4:47Speaker 1: idea to attempt to steal from a wedding reception. OK,
- 4:53Speaker 1: it's the money, right? Yeah, exactly.
- 4:53Speaker 1: So, um, he, he decided, you know, it was a
- 4:56Speaker 1: good idea to try and sneak over to the money box,
- 4:59Speaker 1: the Angpao box as we call it, and when no
- 5:02Speaker 1: one is looking or observing or seemingly so, um, steal
- 5:06Speaker 1: this Ang Bao box that contained around, I think it's
- 5:10Speaker 1: over $2000 worth of cash at this point.
- 5:13Speaker 1: So then, um, the police were alerted to the situation
- 5:16Speaker 1: at about like 9 p.m. or so over the weekend,
- 5:19Speaker 1: and this just happened over the weekend, and he'll be
- 5:22Speaker 1: charged in court today, actually. Sorry. I don't mean to
- 5:26Speaker 1: sound materialistic, but $2000 only. I know, I know.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I mean it's a wedding and it's a ballroom at
- 5:33Speaker 1: a hotel. How come so little? OK, very small. Maybe
- 5:39Speaker 1: the QR code or what I don't know. I don't know.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Maybe it's just a very, very small wedding. Um, I
- 5:44Speaker 1: don't know what the capacity is of Beach Hotel. I'm
- 5:46Speaker 1: not sure. I'm sure they have a few different like
- 5:48Speaker 1: function rooms. Some people just do a very, very small one.
- 5:51Speaker 1: It could even be like.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Like a restaurant, OK, you know, fair enough, or like
- 5:55Speaker 1: a private room in a restaurant. I've attended one that
- 5:58Speaker 1: was just two tables. So in that sense, it might
- 6:00Speaker 1: be about that. I mean, again, it's not the point,
- 6:03Speaker 1: but the expenses. I don't know. I mean, yeah, I
- 6:08Speaker 1: hope they do, but I heard a
- 6:10Speaker 1: Really bad one recently. A friend of my friend actually
- 6:13Speaker 1: attended a very lavish wedding, OK, and it's not, not
- 6:17Speaker 1: here in Singapore. It was like a destination wedding, but
- 6:20Speaker 1: I think if I'm not wrong, like either the bride
- 6:22Speaker 1: or groom is Singaporean. So this was done overseas, right?
- 6:25Speaker 1: And it's like one of those very fancy type of
- 6:28Speaker 1: weddings that you know the ang pors are going to
- 6:29Speaker 1: be fat, OK? It's gonna be thick. Just think Crazy
- 6:33Speaker 1: Rich Asians.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Um, and apparently one of the Angp boxes went missing,
- 6:37Speaker 1: you know, and inside they suspected it was like close
- 6:40Speaker 1: to 1000, that kind of, of cash. Where's the CCTV
- 6:44Speaker 1: and I don't know. That's the thing. So this is
- 6:46Speaker 1: a story that I heard from a friend who attended
- 6:50Speaker 1: this wedding. So I'm invested. I don't know what happened, man,
- 6:53Speaker 1: and um, it being not held in Singapore.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I am not sure whether they are able to catch
- 7:02Speaker 1: the person that stole it. You know what I mean?
- 7:05Speaker 1: It could be that person could be like far away
- 7:07Speaker 1: now from the destination and to them, maybe the currency exchange,
- 7:12Speaker 1: it could be worth a lot more, you know. There
- 7:14Speaker 1: could be a CCTV footage and hopefully gets caught. Fingers crossed, man.
- 7:19Speaker 1: That's a lot of money. I know. Yeah, that's what
- 7:20Speaker 1: I heard. That's what I heard. Hopefully it wasn't exaggerated, but.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Uh, judging from the extravagance of the wedding, I wouldn't
- 7:27Speaker 1: be surprised if it, if the Angpa box contained 1000. Well,
- 7:30Speaker 1: this has been.
- 7:35Speaker 1: at the boisterous streets of Beach Road. If you're the
- 7:39Speaker 1: kind of person that enjoys going to Universal Studios Singapore
- 7:42Speaker 1: and you love the mummy ride, I love the mummy ride.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Me too. Yeah, I can do it many times and
- 7:48Speaker 1: not get bored of it. Yeah. And the thing is,
- 7:50Speaker 1: you might feel like watching the movie after you take
- 7:52Speaker 1: the ride. It, it actually does look quite accurate. Yes,
- 7:56Speaker 1: to the movie, yeah, yeah, I and all that. Uh,
- 7:59Speaker 1: you'll be very happy to know that next year, 2027,
- 8:03Speaker 1: Brendan Fraser.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Rachel Weisz, John, Hannah, Arno Vosloo himself, they are all
- 8:09Speaker 1: reuniting for a brand new Mummy film, The Mummy Book
- 8:13Speaker 1: of the Dead. Wow, it's not over. Yeah, what? So
- 8:17Speaker 1: this takes us what, like 20 years later or something,
- 8:21Speaker 1: we'll see what the plot and what the timeline is,
- 8:23Speaker 1: because in The Mummy Returns, you see Imhotep falling into
- 8:27Speaker 1: the pit of hell, yes, yes, along with Anak Sunamun,
- 8:30Speaker 1: who's getting eaten by the scarabs. That's about it.
- 8:33Speaker 1: That's all I know. So will they continue from that story,
- 8:36Speaker 1: or what? Or will suddenly the mummy become a good
- 8:38Speaker 1: person and tackle another mummy? Was it the scene where
- 8:42Speaker 1: he like basically fell back and surrendered himself, OK, because I,
- 8:46Speaker 1: I recently saw this, um, like a social media, it
- 8:49Speaker 1: was a platform that broke down the emotions in that
- 8:52Speaker 1: scene and it, it, it broke down like what he
- 8:56Speaker 1: was going through in that moment, like why he was
- 8:59Speaker 1: smiling a little bit as he let himself go because.
- 9:02Speaker 1: He knew that he did not have the same kind
- 9:04Speaker 1: of love as Brendan Frasier and Rachel Weisz's characters. Yeah,
- 9:09Speaker 1: she abandoned. Yeah, exactly. But anyway, just to throw you
- 9:12Speaker 1: back to one very important line in The Mummy Returns,
- 9:15Speaker 1: don't forget the Book of the Dead gives life. The
- 9:19Speaker 1: Book of the Living takes life away. So I'm very
- 9:24Speaker 1: sure there might be a sequel called The Mummy Book
- 9:26Speaker 1: of the Living. Yeah. What about the sequel The Daddy?
- 9:29Speaker 1: There's no.
- 9:31Speaker 1: There's no alternative. By the way, only because you are
- 9:34Speaker 1: mentioning about a movie called The Mummy, right? Uh, can
- 9:37Speaker 1: I just say there's actually a movie starring, uh, I
- 9:41Speaker 1: think it's Yaya Abdul Mati, no sorry, it's starring Mahershala Ali.
- 9:45Speaker 1: It's called Your Mother. No way. No, I kid you not,
- 9:48Speaker 1: it's really called Your Mother. Mother, Mother, Your Mother. Is
- 9:50Speaker 1: it like a comedy?
- 9:54Speaker 1: A devoutly religious hitman struggles to balance work, faith, and fatherhood.
- 9:59Speaker 1: When his wife dies, he embarks on a desperate journey
- 10:01Speaker 1: across Houston to protect his children as he confronts the
- 10:04Speaker 1: forces that are closing in around him. OK, it doesn't
- 10:07Speaker 1: sound like a comedy. Yeah, I think it's a thriller,
- 10:09Speaker 1: and don't ever ask a Singaporean person to read out
- 10:12Speaker 1: that movie title.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Your mother, your mother, your mother. Your mother, your mother.
- 10:19Speaker 1: So like I mentioned earlier, um, this would have definitely
- 10:22Speaker 1: been something that was dropped back in the day, you know, my, my,
- 10:25Speaker 1: my dad has definitely told me this before, like, oh,
- 10:27Speaker 1: you know, you don't know what your grandparents went through
- 10:29Speaker 1: to put us through education so that
- 10:31Speaker 1: I could, you know, be who I am and then
- 10:33Speaker 1: raise you for who you are today, that kind of stuff. Um,
- 10:36Speaker 1: it seems like these stories are few and far between
- 10:39Speaker 1: now because, you know, generations have gone by and I
- 10:42Speaker 1: want to give a big shout out to this newspaper
- 10:44Speaker 1: vendor in Simei. If you live in Simey, you'll probably
- 10:47Speaker 1: be familiar with this particular vendor. Lived to 111, Mr. Lin, OK,
- 10:53Speaker 1: by the name of, uh, sorry, 101, I said 111.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Um, Mr. Lin, he, he goes by that name, and
- 11:00Speaker 1: he raised 8 kids in total and saved over $40,000
- 11:06Speaker 1: for the son's overseas studies, which is, of course,
- 11:10Speaker 1: Very rare back then, OK, very rare. Mr. Netflix, it's,
- 11:21Speaker 1: it's true. So like my dad, I don't know about
- 11:25Speaker 1: your parents, but my dad came from a family of
- 11:28Speaker 1: 8 kids. Oh wow, yeah. So he has 7 siblings.
- 11:32Speaker 1: He's the youngest. I know, but we were not.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Very productive in the um reproductive area. How would I say?
- 11:45Speaker 1: I mean, I, I have cousins, I have quite a
- 11:47Speaker 1: lot of cousins, but it kind of stops there. Like
- 11:50Speaker 1: a lot of us didn't or have yet to have
- 11:52Speaker 1: kids after. So hopefully one day you will tell us
- 11:55Speaker 1: some good news. I don't know, but um just thought
- 11:58Speaker 1: it was a fascinating story because he came from a
- 12:01Speaker 1: time where they built like kampong houses before they became
- 12:04Speaker 1: newspaper vendors and single-handedly.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Raised a clan of 8 kids. Well done. Crazy. Mr. Lin,
- 12:12Speaker 1: thank you so much for your legacy and your story. Yes,
- 12:14Speaker 1: which kind of reminds me as well that we are
- 12:15Speaker 1: fast approaching the generation of people like Mr. Lim, my
- 12:18Speaker 1: paternal grandmother.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Where this generation that actually lived through so many things
- 12:24Speaker 1: that the world has gone through, the wars, they're passing on, right?
- 12:27Speaker 1: Queen Elizabeth's crowning, so many things they're passing on and
- 12:30Speaker 1: their stories need to be treasured. Yeah, yeah, I think
- 12:33Speaker 1: that's why it's um it's being told right now and
- 12:36Speaker 1: if you want to remember him for who he is
- 12:39Speaker 1: and his perseverance and everything that he's been through, um,
- 12:42Speaker 1: I think his funeral procession will take place in 2 days.
- 12:45Speaker 1: So if you um
- 12:47Speaker 1: Knowing Mr. Lim living around the Sime area, go, go,
- 12:50Speaker 1: please go pay your respects. I mean, there's Mr. Lin
- 12:52Speaker 1: and my paternal grandmother who's 103. Dude, that's great. That's,
- 12:56Speaker 1: I want to give her a hug. You will. You
- 12:58Speaker 1: can meet her one day and give her a big
- 12:59Speaker 1: hug for me. When is her birthday again? August. OK,
- 13:02Speaker 1: it's over already. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and she's still very
- 13:05Speaker 1: sharp and active, right? smiling all the time. I think
- 13:08Speaker 1: that's the secret to her long life. I know she's
- 13:10Speaker 1: so sweet. Speaking of Angel, a very, very quick one.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Um, I want to give a big shout out to
- 13:15Speaker 1: all the angels on the Victoria's Secrets runway. They look
- 13:18Speaker 1: stunning and if I have to ever have a moment
- 13:22Speaker 1: where you don't feel worried as a woman of aging, yeah,
- 13:27Speaker 1: it's when you're watching Victoria's Secret's fashion show. Do you
- 13:30Speaker 1: realize that a lot of these supermodels are in their 40s?
- 13:33Speaker 1: So I guess Victoria's Secret, they have really pivoted how
- 13:36Speaker 1: they select their models already. Um, OK, I would say.
- 13:40Speaker 1: These are legends that have walked the runway many, many times. Yeah, yeah,
- 13:44Speaker 1: I think Adriana Lima has walked like 21 or 22
- 13:47Speaker 1: times already. If I'm not wrong, she's, she's a staple.
- 13:49Speaker 1: She's a mainstay. She is, and, uh, some of them even,
- 13:53Speaker 1: you know, they, they've been through like motherhood, they've been
- 13:55Speaker 1: through childbirth. I think Barbara Pelvin, she only just gave
- 13:58Speaker 1: birth like a few weeks ago, and she bounced back,
- 14:02Speaker 1: and of course, everyone's like, yeah, it's her job, you know,
- 14:05Speaker 1: she has to do it, but she looked fantastic.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I'm no longer afraid of aging thanks to these women.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Can I say this respectfully, Sonia? How would you feel
- 14:12Speaker 1: if you were Kylie Jenner wearing a $50 million fantasy bra?
- 14:16Speaker 1: I mean, I mean, how would you feel like you
- 14:19Speaker 1: have to walk carefully. You cannot slip and fall. If
- 14:22Speaker 1: one piece of the diamond comes out, you're in trouble.
- 14:24Speaker 1: But like then whose fault is that? That's true. Is
- 14:26Speaker 1: it the person that put it on me or is
- 14:28Speaker 1: it my fault?
- 14:29Speaker 1: Again, I, I, I am stunned with every Victoria's Secret
- 14:33Speaker 1: show to which again the, the new fashionista me will
- 14:37Speaker 1: be like, huh, do you wear it like that. And
- 14:38Speaker 1: then I realized they don't wear it the wings, it's
- 14:40Speaker 1: the bra and underwear that the you know, it's the
- 14:42Speaker 1: way that they style it up and the way that
- 14:45Speaker 1: they make it so appealing, right, that I heard sometimes
- 14:48Speaker 1: some of the models, um, not, not the physical models,
- 14:50Speaker 1: I mean some of the
- 14:51Speaker 1: Um, their items and their clothing items sell out super
- 14:54Speaker 1: fast after the show. I, I wonder whether the catwalk
- 14:57Speaker 1: for this year is available online. If it is, will
- 15:00Speaker 1: it be on YouTube. Sending love to Ariana Grande, a
- 15:03Speaker 1: bit of a hectic year she's having with her health
- 15:06Speaker 1: and maybe mental state as well. And you know, if
- 15:10Speaker 1: your pet or your furry companion passes away, oh no,
- 15:13Speaker 1: it's never easy to deal with the blow. You know,
- 15:16Speaker 1: that that's the one thing that I'm really scared about, yeah, because, uh.
- 15:20Speaker 1: As you know, I've never had a dog my entire
- 15:23Speaker 1: life until Maxi, right? And even so, Maxi lives with
- 15:26Speaker 1: my parents, but we've all become like so close that
- 15:30Speaker 1: I call her like my sister, right? My mom also
- 15:33Speaker 1: calls her my sister to be very honest, and I
- 15:36Speaker 1: fear the day that it happens, you know. Yeah, I
- 15:39Speaker 1: fear Maxi is not a favorite child. She is. It's
- 15:42Speaker 1: not a, it's not a speculation. Unfortunately for Ariana Grande,
- 15:45Speaker 1: she lost her dog Coco and she posted.
- 15:48Speaker 1: a carousel on Instagram which has gotten almost 2 million
- 15:51Speaker 1: likes already and all the photos were taken by Ricky Alvarez,
- 15:56Speaker 1: her boyfriend. Dude, like I'm sending her all the love.
- 15:59Speaker 1: This is not, you know, it's not easy at all.
- 16:02Speaker 1: By the way, Coco had a very long life, yeah.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Oh yeah, 17. 0, exactly. Yeah, and I think Ariana
- 16:08Speaker 1: Grande really pampered Coco. Is it a small dog? I,
- 16:13Speaker 1: I heard that smaller dogs have longer lifespans compared.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Compared to like Great Danes or something like, you know,
- 16:20Speaker 1: they only have like 56 years. Looks a bit small
- 16:22Speaker 1: to medium like the average size. Oh, it's kind of small, yeah, small, smallish. Yeah. Anyway,
- 16:28Speaker 1: sending her so much love and if you're a pet
- 16:30Speaker 1: owner as well, please give your pet a hug and
- 16:32Speaker 1: a kiss.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Cross the rainbow bridge. Well, Coco, we're taking you to
- 16:36Speaker 1: Tega yet again. Interesting happenings over there with all the
- 16:40Speaker 1: BTOs and even the condos as well, but a renovation
- 16:44Speaker 1: content creator. I didn't know we have such thing. Oh,
- 16:46Speaker 1: anything that can be content, which is great.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Um, has criticized the kitchen in a four-room Tga BTO
- 16:52Speaker 1: flat and he used the word pathetic. Oh no, because
- 16:55Speaker 1: of its small size. So apparently the renovation specialist as
- 17:00Speaker 1: well said the layout makes it difficult to fit a stove,
- 17:03Speaker 1: washing machine, sink, and fridge comfortably.
- 17:06Speaker 1: And HDB responded saying that actually it's designed as an
- 17:09Speaker 1: open concept layout with separate wet and dry areas. OK
- 17:14Speaker 1: and you know in the comment section it's gonna be
- 17:17Speaker 1: half the people supporting HDB, half the people supporting this guy, right? Yeah.
- 17:21Speaker 1: So what's the conclusion? Like did he manage to fit in?
- 17:24Speaker 1: I mean, very much it's just facts given to us
- 17:26Speaker 1: to read and, you know, absorb and see what opinions form.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Because HDB also said both areas together occupy about 10
- 17:33Speaker 1: square meters comparable to a standard kitchen in newer flats
- 17:37Speaker 1: with a service yard. OK, I mean that that sounds
- 17:41Speaker 1: like if you plan it properly, it may work out
- 17:44Speaker 1: in your favor, but you have to be smart about it,
- 17:47Speaker 1: I guess, in terms of design layout and everything. Do
- 17:49Speaker 1: you use your kitchen? Hardly. OK, um.
- 17:53Speaker 1: I use, I use like Jeremy's kitchen more because simply
- 17:59Speaker 1: because um when I'm alone, I don't, I don't cook.
- 18:03Speaker 1: I only cook like if it's for two of us
- 18:05Speaker 1: or you know, yeah, sometimes if my folks feel like
- 18:09Speaker 1: having my cooking or I will do it, but it's
- 18:11Speaker 1: not very, it's not very common. I'm gonna ask you
- 18:13Speaker 1: a question. If you had a chance to change something,
- 18:18Speaker 1: it's been a few years they've been staying there.
- 18:20Speaker 1: What's the first thing you would do? So, OK, you know,
- 18:23Speaker 1: we're still figuring out our housing situation because we both
- 18:26Speaker 1: have our own apartments. So we don't really know what
- 18:28Speaker 1: to do just yet. We haven't been actively looking. But
- 18:31Speaker 1: if I were to change anything about my own, my
- 18:34Speaker 1: own apartment.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Uh, maybe a larger bathroom. My, my bathroom maybe just
- 18:42Speaker 1: a little bit bigger, because I do use it like
- 18:45Speaker 1: quite often.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I mean, you better enjoy, you know, taking long showers,
- 18:50Speaker 1: some hygiene and all that for yours truly, I remember
- 18:53Speaker 1: 10 years ago and after renovations when we were moving
- 18:56Speaker 1: back in, my mom insisted on buying this very L-shaped,
- 19:00Speaker 1: this long L-shaped sofa, right, that just takes up so
- 19:04Speaker 1: much space at home. OK, OK, so you would change
- 19:06Speaker 1: the sofa. Yeah, I'll take it out and just go
- 19:08Speaker 1: to a smaller one, but no time and lazy. I know,
- 19:10Speaker 1: I know, and, and before you know it, it's just
- 19:12Speaker 1: been there for like 10 years.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Anyway, we're gonna open up phone lines in just
- 19:17Speaker 1: a little while to address what are some things that
- 19:19Speaker 1: you really would like to change about your own house.
- 19:22Speaker 1: And I understand we're already getting messages coming through about
- 19:25Speaker 1: what you would like to change about your house. If
- 19:28Speaker 1: you inspired by the BTO kitchen that's been making its
- 19:31Speaker 1: rounds on social media. Yeah. Want to say good morning
- 19:34Speaker 1: to you on WhatsApp. I believe your name initials are ZXN. Hello.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Hey Sonia and Joakim.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I live on the 2nd floor and I hear everything.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Cars passing by, people walking and dragging their feet, parcel
- 19:49Speaker 1: delivery workers using, using and pushing their trolleys, cleaners sweeping
- 19:53Speaker 1: the floor. Don't even get me started on cars going
- 19:56Speaker 1: up the MSCP, the multi-story car park, because it's just
- 19:59Speaker 1: right outside my window. So yeah, I would change my floor. Oh, OK, that's.
- 20:05Speaker 1: So this one you have to change the whole apartment already,
- 20:07Speaker 1: the location.
- 20:09Speaker 1: But I'm curious, so sorry to interrupt because you also
- 20:11Speaker 1: live on a lower floor, right? Is it 2nd or
- 20:14Speaker 1: 3rd or 2nd or? OK. But that's the thing, so
- 20:18Speaker 1: you just used to it, no? Yeah, I mean it's
- 20:21Speaker 1: been so long. So in the future if I ever
- 20:24Speaker 1: get my own place, anything above a 6, I'll be happy.
- 20:28Speaker 1: OK, fair. One more coming in from city. Hello, Sonia
- 20:31Speaker 1: and Joakim. When I first bought my current place, it
- 20:34Speaker 1: was actually quite spacious, but now after two kids, it's
- 20:37Speaker 1: getting very cramped. I'm looking for a more spacious option.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Hopefully I can get one by next year somewhere in
- 20:43Speaker 1: the Jurong area. OK, all the best.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Get yourself a good realtor. Yeah, why not? Keep the
- 20:50Speaker 1: calls and texts coming in at 669-11987 or WhatsApp us
- 20:54Speaker 1: at 90050987. Yeah, have a think about it. What is
- 20:58Speaker 1: something that you would like to change about your house? Yeah,
- 21:01Speaker 1: aside from the entire house, like, because I think, you know,
- 21:05Speaker 1: when it comes down to
- 21:06Speaker 1: Renovation. I, I feel like once every few years if
- 21:09Speaker 1: you're already locked in on that home, you might make some,
- 21:11Speaker 1: you know, changes once in a while. I'm gonna say
- 21:14Speaker 1: something that relate to ventilation.
- 21:17Speaker 1: OK, for what the air conditioning and stuff? No, for example,
- 21:20Speaker 1: if I open the windows, right, I would like for
- 21:22Speaker 1: wind to come in, but because, um, there are like other,
- 21:25Speaker 1: other things blocking my block, OK, I barely get anything.
- 21:30Speaker 1: But that one you can't really unless you change your apartment, yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 1: We're talking about what would you like to change about
- 21:35Speaker 1: your house if you could. Want to say good morning
- 21:38Speaker 1: to Bintu Hisam on WhatsApp, who's having a sore throat
- 21:42Speaker 1: because of the haze.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Get well soon. Bin too. Morning, Sojo. Hope you all
- 21:46Speaker 1: are keeping healthy in this haze. We're trying. If there's
- 21:49Speaker 1: one thing I could change about my house, it'd be
- 21:51Speaker 1: the toilet. I love everything about my house, location, my
- 21:55Speaker 1: spacious living room and kitchen, but the trade-off is that
- 21:58Speaker 1: my toilet is quite squeezy. I agree. I know. I
- 22:01Speaker 1: feel the same way. OK. One more coming in from
- 22:04Speaker 1: Wen Yi. Hello, morning, Sonia and Joakim. I will cater
- 22:08Speaker 1: my fixtures to be friendlier for the vertically challenged.
- 22:11Speaker 1: I couldn't even reach the top of my dish drying
- 22:13Speaker 1: rack even if I jumped. Aiyo, look at me? Then
- 22:16Speaker 1: who's doing it for you? Yeah, OK, OK, no, actually I, um, OK,
- 22:21Speaker 1: here's the thing. I, I do, but, but I actually
- 22:24Speaker 1: have really long arms, so.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I have ape-like arms. Yeah, and so even though I
- 22:31Speaker 1: am not very tall, um, my arms can can reach
- 22:35Speaker 1: to the higher shelves. No, I just have like a
- 22:40Speaker 1: big wingspan. Yeah, I just have long arms, that's all.
- 22:44Speaker 1: So basically I've descended from the apes. I have descended
- 22:49Speaker 1: from the apes. Oh my goodness. Keep your calls and
- 22:51Speaker 1: texts coming in at 669-011-987 or WhatsApp us at 900005-0987.
- 22:59Speaker 1: On the topic of what would you like to change
- 23:01Speaker 1: about your house if you inspired by whatever's happening over
- 23:05Speaker 1: at now when it comes to the four-room BTO kitchen,
- 23:07Speaker 1: the renovation content creator saying that yeah, it's very small.
- 23:11Speaker 1: HDB defending it, so a bit of a battle going
- 23:13Speaker 1: on now on social media. I want to say good
- 23:15Speaker 1: morning to Ken. Ken says, Hey guys, I bought my
- 23:18Speaker 1: place 10 years ago and really should have added more sockets,
- 23:21Speaker 1: PowerPoints at strategic areas rather than putting extension plugs. Honestly,
- 23:25Speaker 1: I agree. Yeah extension plugs are a pain. You might
- 23:29Speaker 1: trip on the wire and it just looks very unsightly
- 23:32Speaker 1: when you put it on the floor. So I, I was,
- 23:34Speaker 1: I was pretty lucky that, um, you know, my dad
- 23:37Speaker 1: is very handy when it comes to these things.
- 23:39Speaker 1: I had them to like advise me on how to
- 23:42Speaker 1: build certain things in, like, even though when I moved
- 23:45Speaker 1: into my place at that time, right, it was, it
- 23:48Speaker 1: was brand new, so not too much renovation to be done,
- 23:51Speaker 1: but um what he advised me to do was install
- 23:54Speaker 1: more storage. So, and storage included also like those um
- 23:59Speaker 1: areas where you can hide your cables and like run
- 24:02Speaker 1: your cables through, so it looks very neat.
- 24:04Speaker 1: On that note, because I've done plenty of ads for
- 24:07Speaker 1: them regarding where to place the modem, right, I realized
- 24:10Speaker 1: new condos and even new BTOs, they might have the storeroom,
- 24:12Speaker 1: and that's where the modem socket is. And if you
- 24:15Speaker 1: close the door, the signal might get interfered and it
- 24:18Speaker 1: can be quite slow. So unless you're getting a Wi
- 24:20Speaker 1: Fi mesh, maybe if you're doing ID, ask the guy
- 24:23Speaker 1: whether can he shift the modem plug somewhere else, somewhere
- 24:27Speaker 1: else where it's in the open.
- 24:28Speaker 1: So all the devices can be connected without intermittent activity. Yeah,
- 24:32Speaker 1: you know, it's so much to think about when you,
- 24:36Speaker 1: when you start your own place, right? Honestly, I've seen
- 24:38Speaker 1: people using chat GPT to plan it for them of
- 24:40Speaker 1: the empty house and they chat to generate what they
- 24:42Speaker 1: want and they send it to their IDs or contractors. Yo,
- 24:45Speaker 1: we're revealing too much information to AI Holy, right, if
- 24:49Speaker 1: you think.
- 24:49Speaker 1: About it. Still in the conversation of if you could
- 24:52Speaker 1: change something about your house, what would it be? I
- 24:55Speaker 1: want to say good morning to Nick. Nick on WhatsApp says, morning, Sojo.
- 24:58Speaker 1: We have been staying in our current HDB BTO for
- 25:00Speaker 1: about 11 years now. There are a few things you
- 25:02Speaker 1: want to do to refresh the place. Number one, new
- 25:06Speaker 1: colors on the wall, new look. Laminate our flooring, give
- 25:09Speaker 1: it a fresh look.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Some kitchen cabinets. We didn't do much when we first
- 25:12Speaker 1: moved in. Now we need more storage space. The above
- 25:15Speaker 1: would likely take weeks. So if I want to do it,
- 25:18Speaker 1: I've got to find a temporary place to stay. Oh no, OK,
- 25:21Speaker 1: that's always the most troublesome thing though. Got to move
- 25:23Speaker 1: out and move back in. You gotta hire the cleaners,
- 25:25Speaker 1: and then you hire those people to check all the
- 25:27Speaker 1: reno defects. Yeah, what was it, there's a term for it.
- 25:31Speaker 1: The inspectors.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Well, no, there's a term for it. I know it
- 25:36Speaker 1: slips my mind right now, but OK, if you know
- 25:38Speaker 1: the answer, just WhatsApp us. Want to say hello to Stella.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Stella says, morning, Sojo. If I could change one thing
- 25:43Speaker 1: about my house, I wish I had installed a lift
- 25:47Speaker 1: when I rebuilt my house 17 years ago. What are
- 25:49Speaker 1: you living in? Yeah, maybe landed or what. At that time,
- 25:52Speaker 1: I never thought we would need one. However, last year
- 25:55Speaker 1: after my meniscus surgery, oh no, no, I know how
- 25:57Speaker 1: that feels. I couldn't climb the stairs to my second
- 26:00Speaker 1: floor bedroom. This year, my husband underwent Achilles tendon surgery.
- 26:04Speaker 1: And face the same difficulty. It made me realize that
- 26:07Speaker 1: a home should not only be beautiful and comfortable but
- 26:09Speaker 1: also cater to our needs as we grow older. If
- 26:11Speaker 1: I could turn back the clock, installing a lift would
- 26:13Speaker 1: definitely be one of my top priorities. Yeah, I mean,
- 26:17Speaker 1: are you and your husband runners or something because these
- 26:19Speaker 1: are very centric injuries, right. I know it must take what,
- 26:24Speaker 1: 6 or 8 months to recover from that meniscus and ACL,
- 26:28Speaker 1: about maybe 4 to 6 months depending on how fast
- 26:31Speaker 1: your recovery period is for.
- 26:33Speaker 1: for Achilles tendon, I'm not too sure about that one.
- 26:36Speaker 1: You know, in those moments, I've always been grateful, um,
- 26:39Speaker 1: because I remember when I visited one of the older
- 26:42Speaker 1: HDB blocks, um, some of the older estates still don't
- 26:47Speaker 1: have lifts on every floor, like on every, they don't
- 26:50Speaker 1: have a lift landing on every floor, so it skips
- 26:52Speaker 1: like two floors or something. Then you just go to
- 26:55Speaker 1: the nearest one, you walk up or walk down to yours, right?
- 26:57Speaker 1: It's like whenever I go to Tiong Bahru, for example,
- 26:59Speaker 1: and have a look at the estate, it's quite interesting
- 27:01Speaker 1: how it's laid out. You gotta take.
- 27:03Speaker 1: The lift to go to the 2nd floor and then
- 27:04Speaker 1: you walk down, yeah, and I always wonder because a
- 27:07Speaker 1: lot of these estates are very old and there are
- 27:09Speaker 1: a lot of elderly people there. How do they do it?
- 27:13Speaker 1: Or maybe that's the secret to their vitality. They still
- 27:16Speaker 1: walk the stairs and chilling at the void deck with
- 27:18Speaker 1: with their loudspeakers playing some very nice traditional songs. You
- 27:22Speaker 1: realize that it's our distant future, right? We might just
- 27:25Speaker 1: start hanging out there and, you know, catching up on
- 27:27Speaker 1: the gossip. I can't wait to hear Cardi B somewhere
- 27:29Speaker 1: on the East Coast on the speaker. You know, you
- 27:31Speaker 1: realize that will happen.
- 27:32Speaker 1: that will happen. Talking about if you could change something
- 27:36Speaker 1: about your house, your home, um, something that you've just
- 27:38Speaker 1: never been satisfied with, what would it be? Thank you
- 27:41Speaker 1: so much for all your texts today, very WhatsApp heavy,
- 27:43Speaker 1: but I do want to give it to Stella who
- 27:45Speaker 1: texted us earlier about wanting to install a lift 17
- 27:48Speaker 1: years ago because unfortunately for her, she had a meniscus
- 27:51Speaker 1: surgery and her husband actually tore his Achilles tendon. She
- 27:55Speaker 1: shared this during a squash competition. Ouch. Yeah. Well, congratulations.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Hope this ice cream.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Sort of like eases your concerns a little bit. I
- 28:05Speaker 1: don't know, maybe just go for a cute date day
- 28:07Speaker 1: out over at 84 Neil Road. Make sure you try
- 28:10Speaker 1: their blue milk and roasted pistachio alongside bold local twists
- 28:14Speaker 1: like kopi banana. I want to try that one. Really?
- 28:17Speaker 1: You try kopi banana? I'm shocked. Just one time just
- 28:20Speaker 1: to try and see how it tastes like. But you
- 28:22Speaker 1: deal with the headache later, you realize that, right? OK,
- 28:24Speaker 1: make sure I got nothing on the rest of the day. Yeah, well,
- 28:26Speaker 1: we really hope that you enjoy yourself.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Because that's one of our favorite places to go to, Apiary.
- 28:31Speaker 1: They've been handcrafting pure happiness right here in Singapore, 84
- 28:34Speaker 1: Neil Road, like we mentioned earlier, and you can follow
- 28:36Speaker 1: them up on Instagram. That's A P I A R Y. SG.
- 28:41Speaker 1: And in the studio, if you're with us on 987's TikTok,
- 28:44Speaker 1: we are live as well, all-round good guy. I promise
- 28:48Speaker 1: you some very nice, sultry and soulful vocals. Welcome back
- 28:51Speaker 1: to the studio, Guest Liu.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Hello, good morning.
- 28:56Speaker 1: How's it going,
- 28:57Speaker 1: man? It's been two years since you stepped foot in
- 29:00Speaker 1: this studio. Yes, two years. What have you been cooking
- 29:03Speaker 1: in the past two years? Yeah,
- 29:05Speaker 2: I mean, the last time I released a song was, yeah, 2024.
- 29:09Speaker 2: It was called I Love You in Five Years' time
- 29:11Speaker 2: and after I kind of released that, I took some
- 29:13Speaker 2: time to kind of think about.
- 29:14Speaker 2: You know, in the long run, what's the kind of
- 29:16Speaker 2: music that I wanted to do. Yeah. So, ah, there
- 29:19Speaker 2: was a bit of kind of really, um, taking the
- 29:22Speaker 2: time of soul searching, finding what's the kind of sound
- 29:24Speaker 2: I want to create and this single now, I think
- 29:27Speaker 2: it's really representative of the stuff I want to do
- 29:29Speaker 2: and it's will be part of a 44 song
- 29:31Speaker 1: EPP. Does the 4 song EP include If I Loved
- 29:36Speaker 1: You in 5 Years?
- 29:38Speaker 1: I know, yeah, that would be, yeah, in the past. OK.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Is it, is it me or is his voice? Always,
- 29:44Speaker 1: every time he speaks, I'm like this guy should be
- 29:47Speaker 1: a DJ or something. I know, but what have you
- 29:48Speaker 1: been up to, man? How's school? Yeah the updates. What
- 29:52Speaker 1: you do? What you up to?
- 29:53Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm currently in my last year of school.
- 29:56Speaker 2: I'm in NUS and I'm in the Conservatory of Music. Yeah,
- 30:00Speaker 2: I do.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Music collaboration, production, where we kind of have to do
- 30:04Speaker 2: ah produce our own projects and it also includes some
- 30:07Speaker 2: form of like, ah, usually some research and studies into
- 30:09Speaker 2: like understanding audiences, understanding how to, you know, um, what,
- 30:13Speaker 2: what are the different areas that you're interested to look into. So,
- 30:16Speaker 2: some people look into, you know, maybe a certain um
- 30:19Speaker 2: age group that they're trying to reach out to, do
- 30:21Speaker 2: some research into that and then basically create a a
- 30:23Speaker 2: a project that
- 30:25Speaker 2: has a production output that reaches out to these audiences.
- 30:28Speaker 2: So what I've been trying to do is try to
- 30:31Speaker 2: work around um the development of artists. I've been researching
- 30:33Speaker 2: into that and like, you know, project management, artist management,
- 30:37Speaker 2: And all the songs that I'm doing now, I'm also
- 30:40Speaker 2: using it to to kind of help my my FYP
- 30:43Speaker 2: to to kind of use the songs as a material
- 30:46Speaker 2: for my production output.
- 30:47Speaker 1: So
- 30:48Speaker 1: who, who is your ideal demographic? Like when you write
- 30:52Speaker 1: a song now, since you're talking about like your audience
- 30:54Speaker 1: and all that, do you have that audience in mind
- 30:58Speaker 1: that's listening to your track?
- 30:59Speaker 2: Yeah, because what I kind of got to realize is
- 31:03Speaker 2: that I do
- 31:04Speaker 2: have an affinity for for like older older songs. I
- 31:10Speaker 2: mean I do enjoy like of course the new stuff
- 31:12Speaker 2: I'm always being open-minded to new genres and everything, but
- 31:15Speaker 2: I always kind of have a soft spot for for like,
- 31:18Speaker 2: you know, music in the eighties, seventies. So yeah, yeah.
- 31:21Speaker 2: So I'm trying to to kind of ah incorporate that
- 31:24Speaker 2: into into what I'm the music that I'm writing. So
- 31:27Speaker 2: it's a bit, it's not fully like classic 70s, 80s.
- 31:31Speaker 2: But it's also a bit of mix of pop. So
- 31:33Speaker 2: I think one of my inspirations of of the more
- 31:36Speaker 2: recent years was when Silk Sonic, you know, the album,
- 31:40Speaker 2: that kind of that's that kind of retro sound but
- 31:42Speaker 2: it's still so fresh and new and I was really
- 31:44Speaker 2: inspired by that. It's one of my inspirations. I don't have,
- 31:50Speaker 2: I didn't mention to
- 31:51Speaker 1: the I think there will be more be more available
- 31:53Speaker 1: and I'll look out for that.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Definitely one of my, my inspirations. So I would say
- 32:01Speaker 2: the target audience would be, you know, I'm trying to
- 32:03Speaker 2: reach out to as many, yeah, this is, it's kind
- 32:05Speaker 2: of like the current, ah, the old sound but in
- 32:09Speaker 2: a new interpretation.
- 32:12Speaker 2: So,
- 32:13Speaker 1: so you have your guitar with us in the studio?
- 32:15Speaker 2: Yes.
- 32:15Speaker 1: What's the song you're gonna give us this morning, my
- 32:17Speaker 2: friend? Yes,
- 32:17Speaker 2: so I'm gonna be playing my latest single. It got released, um,
- 32:21Speaker 2: I think just about two weeks back on 9th October.
- 32:24Speaker 2: It's called Won't Stop Loving.
- 32:25Speaker 2: And yeah, I think it's a really um a song
- 32:29Speaker 2: that's representative of what, what I want to do now. Uh,
- 32:31Speaker 2: with this song, I really wanted to explore that that
- 32:33Speaker 2: kind of old older sound with kind of like the,
- 32:37Speaker 2: the current interpretation of it. So, the modulations, really more
- 32:42Speaker 2: like rhythmic groovy stuff, and yeah, I think I, I,
- 32:46Speaker 2: I'm really proud of, of, of this track and I'm
- 32:48Speaker 2: excited to, to also start to release the others and
- 32:51Speaker 2: Let it build upon each other.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Let's hear it, man.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Let's hear it. OK. Thank you for bringing all your
- 32:56Speaker 1: stuff here today. We would love to hear it live
- 32:59Speaker 1: right now. Are you ready to go? Yeah,
- 33:01Speaker 2: let's
- 33:01Speaker 1: do it. Let's do it. Alright, anytime, Gaston, take it
- 33:03Speaker 2: away. Let's go.
- 33:04Speaker 1: 23,
- 33:06Speaker 2: 4.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Never stop loving you, loving you.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Good morning, 97. It's Guston over here.
- 33:22Speaker 2: The latest single called Won't Stop Loving. Hope you guys
- 33:24Speaker 2: enjoy it.
- 33:29Speaker 1: I never felt the
- 33:33Speaker 2: I met
- 33:33Speaker 1: you
- 33:36Speaker 1: I
- 33:38Speaker 1: you
- 33:42Speaker 2: Get
- 33:42Speaker 1: you
- 33:45Speaker 1: Me
- 33:48Speaker 1: just
- 34:05Speaker 1: keep.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Dreams come true.
- 34:34Speaker 2: I get
- 34:34Speaker 1: all.
- 34:40Speaker 2: A
- 34:47Speaker 2: to be
- 34:56Speaker 2: you took me to
- 35:16Speaker 1: I wish come
- 35:17Speaker 2: true.
- 35:36Speaker 1: you
- 35:43Speaker 1: You
- 35:44Speaker 1: have
- 36:16Speaker 1: Oh, by the way, this guy Gaston Liu live for
- 36:21Speaker 1: you on 987. That was amazing, Gaston. That was amazing.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Just God-given vocal talent right there. Yeah. And you know what,
- 36:27Speaker 1: like just kind of feeling you enjoy that like made
- 36:30Speaker 1: us happy, you know what I mean? Thank you for
- 36:33Speaker 1: chasing the haze away for a while, at least in
- 36:35Speaker 1: the studio.
- 36:36Speaker 1: No, thank you so much. That was so great. We're
- 36:37Speaker 1: gonna take a very quick break and we'd love to
- 36:40Speaker 1: continue to chat with you in just a little while.
- 36:42Speaker 1: Along with us, we have Gaston. Yes, Gaston just performed
- 36:45Speaker 1: his latest single, Where Can Find It Again? Tell us, Gaston.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Yes, you can find it on all streaming platforms under
- 36:50Speaker 2: the artist's name Gaston, G A S T O N
- 36:53Speaker 2: in caps. Yeah, Gaston Gaston.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Now he's figuring out like how he wants to say
- 36:58Speaker 1: it and all. OK, so graduation not too far away
- 37:01Speaker 1: for you. Not too far away. What, what is gonna
- 37:03Speaker 1: happen after that? Like, are you gonna put your full
- 37:06Speaker 1: time and energy into music or like what's happening?
- 37:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, I think the idea is to kind of
- 37:12Speaker 2: do music full time, but the reality of it is
- 37:14Speaker 2: probably doing a few different portfolios at the same time
- 37:17Speaker 2: to begin with. So like even on the side now
- 37:19Speaker 2: I've started like teaching, teaching, teaching guitar, teaching vocals.
- 37:25Speaker 2: And I'm also trying to branch out into different areas.
- 37:27Speaker 2: I have some friends that have been, uh, doing like MCing,
- 37:31Speaker 2: and I'm kind of like interested in that as well.
- 37:33Speaker 2: So I'm trying to like get my like trying to
- 37:36Speaker 2: get some experience in that as well over time. But,
- 37:38Speaker 1: but I must say you can talk, and when you
- 37:39Speaker 1: talk you actually drive the forward. So I think you
- 37:42Speaker 1: got that going for you already. But when you say
- 37:44Speaker 1: you teach vocals, right, just a quick one. How do you,
- 37:46Speaker 1: are you qualified? How do you teach them the techniques
- 37:48Speaker 1: and all
- 37:49Speaker 1: that,
- 37:49Speaker 2: right? Um, I think.
- 37:51Speaker 2: For what what I'm teaching is more like pop vocal. So, OK, so,
- 37:55Speaker 2: but I did do classical singing actually like in the
- 37:58Speaker 2: past few years when I was doing like A level
- 38:00Speaker 2: music because he had to sing like classical stuff. So
- 38:03Speaker 2: I'm kind of, I do have my qualifications in that
- 38:07Speaker 2: sense on my CV but
- 38:08Speaker 1: I don't think anything can help me.
- 38:12Speaker 1: At this point, for real. But
- 38:14Speaker 2: anyway,
- 38:14Speaker 1: we were, we were curious earlier, right, because we were
- 38:17Speaker 1: saying like, what exactly does your name mean? I don't
- 38:19Speaker 1: know why we were like talking about this off-air. So
- 38:21Speaker 1: I did a quick search on Chat GBT actually. OK,
- 38:25Speaker 1: here we go. So, Gaston is a French masculine name
- 38:29Speaker 1: derived from the meaning of guest or stranger.
- 38:34Speaker 1: OK. OK, and it means confidence, strength, and masculinity. Wow,
- 38:40Speaker 1: no wonder it's very aptly named Gaston in Beauty and
- 38:42Speaker 1: the Beast. Yeah, exactly. You can eat 4000 eggs, 4000 eggs.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Thank you so much for being with us here today. Yes,
- 38:50Speaker 1: it's a pleasure.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Anything you want to share or say to your newfound
- 38:54Speaker 1: fans or followers who are tuned in to us right now?
- 38:57Speaker 2: Yeah. Hi, everyone. Yeah, it's so nice to meet all
- 38:59Speaker 2: of you. My name is Gaston and I'll be releasing
- 39:02Speaker 2: more music, actually one, hopefully by the end of next
- 39:05Speaker 2: month and it's accumulating into a 4 song EP around
- 39:10Speaker 2: April next year. So I'm really excited. Do follow along
- 39:13Speaker 2: with me, uh, follow me on my socials at Gaston Liu.
- 39:17Speaker 2: So yeah, I'm still using my full name for for
- 39:18Speaker 2: my IG and you can use, ah, you know, all
- 39:21Speaker 2: all the different socials to find me and and follow
- 39:24Speaker 2: me on this journey. I'm really excited to be able
- 39:25Speaker 2: to to put out these songs that I think are
- 39:27Speaker 2: really representative of what I wanna do and the songs
- 39:31Speaker 2: are meant to, you know, lift you up, get you going,
- 39:34Speaker 2: make you feel good, you know, touch your soul.
- 39:36Speaker 2: That's the kind of music that I want to release
- 39:38Speaker 2: and I hope you guys enjoy it. Thank you so much.
- 39:41Speaker 1: We're, we're excited. We're rooting for you. Any idea on
- 39:44Speaker 1: the name of the EP just yet or you're figuring
- 39:46Speaker 1: it out? Yeah,
- 39:47Speaker 2: I'm still
- 39:47Speaker 2: figuring out some ideas, but I think I will review
- 39:50Speaker 2: it over time.
- 39:54Speaker 1: No, no, don't. You better hire another marketing manager. Don't
- 39:58Speaker 1: hire Joki. Taylor Swift, Patient Zero, still at the top
- 40:03Speaker 1: of the top 100 Billboard charts for, if I'm not wrong,
- 40:06Speaker 1: 3 weeks in a row already. Wow. Not budging, not moving. Um,
- 40:10Speaker 1: she's dominating so far. The Swifties are really added to
- 40:14Speaker 1: make sure the song stays at number one.
- 40:16Speaker 1: And also for Taylor Swift, have you seen that video
- 40:18Speaker 1: of her at the football game? American football game. She's
- 40:22Speaker 1: trying to enjoy the game, but then she has a
- 40:23Speaker 1: fan like plunking a camera in front of her face
- 40:26Speaker 1: and she goes, Hey, film the game. Don't film me.
- 40:28Speaker 1: And she smiles about it. But what does the media say? Oh,
- 40:31Speaker 1: she was rude to the fan, right? Yeah, yeah, I
- 40:33Speaker 1: read about that. I mean, OK, honestly, at her level,
- 40:37Speaker 1: there's never really a clear cut, like right or wrong,
- 40:40Speaker 1: you know.
- 40:41Speaker 1: It's always going to be a gray area. People are
- 40:42Speaker 1: going to twist it the way they want to twist it,
- 40:44Speaker 1: and they're gonna make you look like a villain regardless.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Can I, can I say something? One thing I realized
- 40:49Speaker 1: about the F1 paddock club? Wow, when you spot the
- 40:51Speaker 1: driver come out, everybody runs towards the driver trying to
- 40:54Speaker 1: get a selfie, and I think the drivers know what
- 40:56Speaker 1: to do. They just keep walking and smiling, smiling, smiling,
- 40:58Speaker 1: but they'll get from point A to point B in
- 40:59Speaker 1: record time. Yeah, for sure. And most of them are
- 41:02Speaker 1: even on their scooters. You can't even catch them, especially
- 41:05Speaker 1: Lewis Hamilton.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Bit of running updates coming your way. I mean, for
- 41:09Speaker 1: the Great Eastern Women's run that was supposed to happen
- 41:12Speaker 1: on 1st of November, it's been canceled. Regardless of how
- 41:15Speaker 1: the haze is, it's been canceled. I think the organizers thought, hey,
- 41:17Speaker 1: you know what, let's do it in better weather. I
- 41:20Speaker 1: thought they were gonna monitor or something. Yeah, OK, that's
- 41:23Speaker 1: the Garmin half marathon, which could be happening on Sunday.
- 41:27Speaker 1: So if you are doing the half marathon 10 km
- 41:30Speaker 1: or maybe even 5.
- 41:31Speaker 1: OK, I forgot the categories available for you. Maybe follow
- 41:34Speaker 1: Garmin SG and stay close with the updates because when
- 41:37Speaker 1: I went to collect my race packs, the people who
- 41:39Speaker 1: were doing the race packs were so energetic. All the volunteers,
- 41:42Speaker 1: I think they're students as well, they were like, Yay! Alright.
- 41:45Speaker 1: I said, guys, I hope the run happens. We need
- 41:47Speaker 1: this energy here in Singapore. So we'll see what happens,
- 41:50Speaker 1: and I'm crossing my fingers that it takes place. If not,
- 41:54Speaker 1: maybe on a better date, and
- 41:55Speaker 1: Then all eyes on the BYD Singapore International Marathon presented
- 41:59Speaker 1: by Adidas. That's happening, I believe, 4th, 5th, and 6th December.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Hopefully by then, yeah, the haze clears. We still have
- 42:06Speaker 1: some time till then, so fingers crossed. I think it's
- 42:10Speaker 1: been showing some improvement, although we don't want to jinx it.
- 42:12Speaker 1: So yeah, we'll keep it that way. I think most
- 42:14Speaker 1: people are trying to use the Garmin or the GE
- 42:17Speaker 1: as a training as a training race. Yeah, there you go.
