- 0:13Speaker 1: Hello you guys, Welcome back to another episode of the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Hawkgirl Energy Podcast. I'm your host, Kaylee, and this is
- 0:18Speaker 1: your weekly reminder that it's a new day, a new week,
- 0:21Speaker 1: a new mindset, and another day for you to become
- 0:23Speaker 1: the hawk Gral energy you want to attract. Hello you guys,
- 0:27Speaker 1: Happy Wednesday. Welcome back to another episode. I took a
- 0:31Speaker 1: bit of a mental health break last week. I have
- 0:35Speaker 1: been going through just a little something.
- 0:38Speaker 2: You know.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I'm really trying to navigate this journey that I'm going through,
- 0:45Speaker 1: and that is dealing with my injury and dealing with
- 0:50Speaker 1: winter blues, and I think it's a really interesting time
- 0:55Speaker 1: in my life and it's not how I really imagine
- 0:57Speaker 1: twenty twenty six was going to start. But I'd rather
- 1:00Speaker 1: be real and raw with you guys than almost like
- 1:03Speaker 1: fake that everything's okay and that I'm having this amazing
- 1:06Speaker 1: motivation and that I'm having this amazing routine that I
- 1:10Speaker 1: typically have. And I'd rather be honest and share why
- 1:15Speaker 1: I wasn't present last week and why I wasn't feeling
- 1:18Speaker 1: motivated to record an episode, and that's because I was
- 1:21Speaker 1: having a very emotional week last week.
- 1:23Speaker 2: I think it was just kind of like one of.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Those weeks where I just got back for my trip
- 1:29Speaker 1: and you know, I thought there was progress with my back.
- 1:32Speaker 2: To be honest, I.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Thought I was seeing like the light at the end
- 1:33Speaker 1: of the tunnel because there was so much progress in
- 1:37Speaker 1: Costa Rica where I felt like my back was like
- 1:39Speaker 1: in a really, really good spot. But it's because I
- 1:42Speaker 1: wasn't doing like the typical things that I do like
- 1:45Speaker 1: at home. Right, Like, one thing that's actually causing the
- 1:47Speaker 1: biggest issue with my back is being on a computer
- 1:51Speaker 1: and being on my phone, which obviously plays a huge
- 1:53Speaker 1: impact to my job, and so I had to order
- 1:56Speaker 1: a standing desk. I have to now basically take forty
- 1:59Speaker 1: five to sixty minute breaks. So every forty five to
- 2:03Speaker 1: sixty minutes, I need to get off my computer do
- 2:05Speaker 1: some standing stretches for my back for my posture until
- 2:09Speaker 1: we can kind of just like rebuild the muscle strength
- 2:11Speaker 1: in my back. So the point is is that I'm
- 2:14Speaker 1: having to adjust so much into my routine that I
- 2:16Speaker 1: don't typically do, so I'm creating new habits for myself.
- 2:18Speaker 1: I'm trying to strengthen this muscle in my back for myself. Obviously,
- 2:23Speaker 1: it's just like not a fun injury to go through,
- 2:26Speaker 1: but I wanted to chat about it in today's episode
- 2:29Speaker 1: and just kind of talk about how I'm trying to
- 2:31Speaker 1: become this version of myself again because I feel like
- 2:34Speaker 1: I have lost a bit of my motivation. I'm trying
- 2:37Speaker 1: to rebuild myself and kind of create new habits for
- 2:39Speaker 1: myself to better myself and get in a better mental
- 2:43Speaker 1: state and just kind of feel myself again, because if
- 2:45Speaker 1: I look at myself, you know, six to seven months ago,
- 2:48Speaker 1: I felt like I had my shit together. You know,
- 2:51Speaker 1: things were great. I was in a good workout routine.
- 2:53Speaker 1: And I think you also realize, you know, how grateful
- 2:57Speaker 1: you are for those little things, like I always write
- 2:59Speaker 1: how great I am to be able to move my
- 3:01Speaker 1: body and wake up to get a workout in and
- 3:03Speaker 1: to wake up early and to go outside for a
- 3:06Speaker 1: walk all that. Like, you don't realize how much those
- 3:08Speaker 1: things mean to you until they're almost taken away from you,
- 3:11Speaker 1: and then you realize how much you actually love and
- 3:15Speaker 1: enjoy moving your body or being outside or you know,
- 3:19Speaker 1: not dealing.
- 3:19Speaker 2: With an injury. Right.
- 3:20Speaker 1: And I don't mean to make this like my whole personality,
- 3:23Speaker 1: like this is what I'm currently going through in my life,
- 3:25Speaker 1: and like, I like to share moments in my life
- 3:28Speaker 1: that I'm going through with you guys, because I want
- 3:31Speaker 1: to make sure that there's someone else out there like
- 3:33Speaker 1: me that might be going through a very similar situation.
- 3:36Speaker 1: And I posted about my back injury, and I think
- 3:38Speaker 1: I had like twenty to twenty five dms about people
- 3:41Speaker 1: going through something very similar where they're going through an injury,
- 3:45Speaker 1: or they're going through a hard time with the winter
- 3:48Speaker 1: season and having a hard time kind of finding themselves again.
- 3:51Speaker 1: So it felt really nice knowing that I wasn't alone
- 3:54Speaker 1: and that there's other people going through it, and also
- 3:57Speaker 1: like getting you know, that positive boost and motivation from
- 4:02Speaker 1: you guys, you know, commenting on my videos saying, hey,
- 4:04Speaker 1: you're going to get through this. I can see the
- 4:05Speaker 1: light at the end of the tunnel, like giving me
- 4:07Speaker 1: the motivation that I need to. So this is why
- 4:10Speaker 1: I love social media, is having such an amazing community
- 4:12Speaker 1: being there to support you and help you through those
- 4:15Speaker 1: hard times. And I'm going through a hard time right
- 4:17Speaker 1: now mentally and clearly physically, and you know, I'm I'm
- 4:23Speaker 1: seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, like
- 4:24Speaker 1: I'm really trying to see the positives during this healing journey,
- 4:29Speaker 1: and I kind of wanted to chat about things that
- 4:31Speaker 1: I have taken into this week specifically, like I'm kind
- 4:34Speaker 1: of creating a fresh start going into this week of
- 4:37Speaker 1: things that I can change and things that I can
- 4:39Speaker 1: do for myself to put me in a better mindset
- 4:42Speaker 1: going into spring, thinking about spring energy, how exciting it
- 4:46Speaker 1: is that there's, you know, a new month happening next week.
- 4:49Speaker 1: And I feel like March is really the month where
- 4:51Speaker 1: we get excited about spring. The snow starts to melt,
- 4:54Speaker 1: the weather starts to get nicer, we want to get outside,
- 4:57Speaker 1: So there's lots of excitement to come in March and I.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Love that month. I love March. I love April.
- 5:03Speaker 1: April's my birthday month, So there's a lot to look
- 5:05Speaker 1: forward to that I'm excited about that I'm excited to
- 5:08Speaker 1: share throughout the podcast. And last week I just needed
- 5:11Speaker 1: a bit of a break, and I think that's okay.
- 5:13Speaker 1: It's good to take breaks, and I'd rather be more
- 5:16Speaker 1: positive on the MIC than negative. But I wanted to
- 5:19Speaker 1: share things that I'm doing to kind of get myself
- 5:22Speaker 1: back to where I want to be, so I think
- 5:24Speaker 1: the first thing that's really important, especially if you're going
- 5:27Speaker 1: through something similar like me, where you're kind of dealing
- 5:29Speaker 1: with a situation where you feel lost or you feel
- 5:32Speaker 1: like you're just like not feeling yourself. Let's think about
- 5:36Speaker 1: what has happened that's different in the past three to
- 5:39Speaker 1: four months. So think about, okay, three months ago, what happened.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Has there been a shift, Has there been a change
- 5:45Speaker 1: in something that has maybe made you feel this way? Right?
- 5:48Speaker 1: So for me, obviously three to four months ago, winter started,
- 5:52Speaker 1: you know, fall ended, winter started, which no one loves winter.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Let's be honest. I like winter for Christmas Day and
- 5:58Speaker 1: that's about it. Soon as January for.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Hits, I'm like, okay, summer can come back. I miss it.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I don't want the snow anymore. So I think winter
- 6:05Speaker 1: has definitely taken a turn for a lot of us.
- 6:08Speaker 1: You know, winter blues is a thing, Winter depression is
- 6:11Speaker 1: a thing, and I think it's kind of left us
- 6:14Speaker 1: feeling trapped inside our homes because we don't want to
- 6:18Speaker 1: leave the house because it's so cold outside. You know,
- 6:21Speaker 1: definitely there's a lack of motivation. Usually around this time
- 6:24Speaker 1: of the year, it's harder to get outside, you know,
- 6:26Speaker 1: go to workout.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Classes, go to the gym. Because it's cold out, nobody
- 6:29Speaker 2: wants to leave their house.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Everybody wants to stay inside, you know, the lack of
- 6:33Speaker 1: fresh air. It's harder to get outside and go for
- 6:36Speaker 1: longer walks when it is very cold out. I'm going
- 6:39Speaker 1: out for like ten to fifty minute walks with my
- 6:41Speaker 1: dog and that's really it. You know, it is getting
- 6:44Speaker 1: nice right now, which is nice to the walks have
- 6:46Speaker 1: been a little bit longer, but not like a forty
- 6:49Speaker 1: five to fifty minute walk that they would typically do
- 6:51Speaker 1: in the summer. And then also just a lack of
- 6:53Speaker 1: social interaction. I think it's very common around this time
- 6:56Speaker 1: of the year where you kind of see your friends less.
- 6:59Speaker 1: At least I'm going through that where, you know, the
- 7:01Speaker 1: odd time we see each other, it's for something that's
- 7:04Speaker 1: happening in someone's life, whether it's you know, a birthday
- 7:07Speaker 1: party or an engagement party, or a baby shower, whatever
- 7:11Speaker 1: the case may be. Like that's kind of the only
- 7:12Speaker 1: thing that's really forcing us to get together because in
- 7:15Speaker 1: the winter, nobody really wants to leave their house.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Like in the summer, we're doing cottage weekends.
- 7:19Speaker 1: You know, we're going out to the restaurant to have
- 7:21Speaker 1: some drinks, or we're going golfing, doing hobbies together. Like
- 7:25Speaker 1: it's a very different situation in the summer, whereas in
- 7:27Speaker 1: the winter it's really like the odd time where we
- 7:30Speaker 1: get together and see each other.
- 7:32Speaker 2: And then another thing that's really changed for me personally
- 7:34Speaker 2: is my back injury.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I injured my back four months ago now, and you know,
- 7:38Speaker 1: it's been a interesting journey in the sense where I
- 7:42Speaker 1: feel like it's been a rollercoaster of progress. So I
- 7:45Speaker 1: feel like I'll come up to the top where I'm like,
- 7:47Speaker 1: oh my god, I'm feeling so good, like I'm seeing progress,
- 7:50Speaker 1: and then eventually, you know, I go down to drop
- 7:53Speaker 1: and it's like, oh, just kidding. It got worse again,
- 7:56Speaker 1: and it's really bad and it's painful, and I need
- 7:58Speaker 1: to do something about it. So I'm kind of going
- 8:00Speaker 1: through waves of this healing journey. But you know, this week,
- 8:04Speaker 1: I'm seeing a lot more positive things because I've made
- 8:07Speaker 1: a lot of adjustments.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Into my routine to accommodate my injury.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Whereas I feel like before I was just kind of
- 8:13Speaker 1: like doing the stretches in the morning and that's about it.
- 8:15Speaker 1: So I've kind of figured out what's triggering the issue,
- 8:18Speaker 1: which is great because I think that's always a hard
- 8:20Speaker 1: one to figure out what's triggering it. So what's triggering
- 8:22Speaker 1: the issue? I now know what can I do to
- 8:25Speaker 1: kind of relieve the muscle from feeling as tight as
- 8:27Speaker 1: it is, and what are treatments that I can do,
- 8:29Speaker 1: you know, physio, sports, massage, therapy, whatever the case may
- 8:33Speaker 1: be to kind of help the muscle out. And then
- 8:35Speaker 1: obviously my routine has changed. Obviously, three to four months ago,
- 8:38Speaker 1: i was waking up early every single morning going to
- 8:40Speaker 1: my pilates classes, getting a good workout in, Whereas now.
- 8:43Speaker 2: I'm not leaving the house, I'm not doing a workout.
- 8:46Speaker 1: And I've had to adapt a new routine to kind
- 8:49Speaker 1: of figure out what is going to work for myself
- 8:51Speaker 1: with this current impact that is kind of controlling my
- 8:54Speaker 1: life essentially, And so obviously, with this injury and with
- 8:57Speaker 1: the changes of my routine, I'm dealing with a lot
- 9:00Speaker 1: of negative thoughts and I'm dealing with a lot of
- 9:02Speaker 1: emotion that's kind of taken over me mentally, and I
- 9:05Speaker 1: feel like I'm losing that positive mindset that I once
- 9:07Speaker 1: had and I'm like, Okay, how do I get that back?
- 9:10Speaker 1: How do I get that positive mindset that I always
- 9:12Speaker 1: want for myself? And a lot of that has to
- 9:14Speaker 1: do with getting back into journaling and to be fully transparent.
- 9:17Speaker 2: I stop that.
- 9:18Speaker 1: I don't know why, maybe because again my emotions and
- 9:21Speaker 1: my thoughts have been taken over me and for some
- 9:23Speaker 1: reason I put important habits aside and didn't think it was.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Important because I thought, oh, I got to fix this
- 9:28Speaker 2: back injury.
- 9:29Speaker 1: But sometimes like you have to think about those small
- 9:31Speaker 1: things that make an impact that can't actually help your
- 9:34Speaker 1: mental health, and I need to get linked.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Back into that.
- 9:37Speaker 1: So this is kind of the phase where now I'm
- 9:39Speaker 1: trying to rediscover how to rebuild.
- 9:42Speaker 2: My identity again.
- 9:43Speaker 1: So what am I going to do to kind of
- 9:46Speaker 1: rebuild this person that I'm trying to become again? So
- 9:49Speaker 1: kind of writing out some promises to yourself. What are
- 9:52Speaker 1: things that you want to adjust into your routine or
- 9:55Speaker 1: into your lifestyle to become that person that you want
- 9:59Speaker 1: to be? Come again, Like, who is that person that
- 10:01Speaker 1: you want to become? Are you the person that wants
- 10:04Speaker 1: to wake up earlier? Are you that person that wants
- 10:06Speaker 1: to eat better?
- 10:07Speaker 2: You know, maybe you've.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Been lacking in your meals and you really want to
- 10:10Speaker 1: try and eat more healthy food again. Maybe it's you
- 10:13Speaker 1: were a gym girl or a pilates girl, and you
- 10:15Speaker 1: were moving your body every single day and now you're not.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Maybe you're not feeling inspired lately because you're not doing
- 10:22Speaker 1: hobbies or you're not following people on social media that
- 10:25Speaker 1: might inspire you anymore, and you just have been feeling
- 10:28Speaker 1: lost and you don't really know how to reinspire yourself.
- 10:32Speaker 1: And maybe you stop journaling and you're feeling lazy and
- 10:35Speaker 1: you stop doing that one little task that might be
- 10:37Speaker 1: bothering you. Those are some things right there that probably
- 10:40Speaker 1: define myself to be fully transparent. And I think these
- 10:43Speaker 1: things are things that I let go because I got
- 10:46Speaker 1: too fixated of just trying to focus on my back,
- 10:49Speaker 1: you know, do the stretches all that, and not focus
- 10:52Speaker 1: on the things that actually bring me joy. And I
- 10:55Speaker 1: need to go back to that and also, you know,
- 10:58Speaker 1: make my back in your focus by getting it better.
- 11:01Speaker 1: So I think kind of creating new promises for myself
- 11:05Speaker 1: where it's like, Okay, what are things that I'm going
- 11:08Speaker 1: to do moving forward to create this new routine for
- 11:12Speaker 1: myself that will work for me?
- 11:15Speaker 2: Now, Like, what can we do that's going to work
- 11:17Speaker 2: with my situation?
- 11:18Speaker 1: How can I make myself better and still do these
- 11:21Speaker 1: things in some shape or form, but in a different
- 11:24Speaker 1: way to adapt to my current situation. So it's kind
- 11:28Speaker 1: of like creating a back to Me series. So I
- 11:32Speaker 1: want to create a thirty day challenge for myself where
- 11:34Speaker 1: I'm going to challenge myself every single day to get
- 11:36Speaker 1: back into doing these habits, whether it's moving my body
- 11:39Speaker 1: every single day in some small way, whether it's walking
- 11:42Speaker 1: or doing a fifteen minute matt workout. You know, I
- 11:45Speaker 1: can't really lift dumbells right now, so I'm trying to
- 11:47Speaker 1: just do like low impact body movement just so that
- 11:52Speaker 1: my body is still getting some movement in. And I
- 11:54Speaker 1: actually found that form Sammy Clark's platform, which.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I've definitely talked about in the past.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I've been using for years, and I didn't realize that
- 12:02Speaker 1: they actually had an injury section that was low impact movement.
- 12:05Speaker 1: So every day I pick like a fifteen to twenty
- 12:08Speaker 1: minute workout that I'll do after my walk, no weights,
- 12:11Speaker 1: and it's all body weight.
- 12:13Speaker 2: And it's actually been really nice.
- 12:14Speaker 1: There's obviously been certain things where I'll feel a little
- 12:16Speaker 1: bit discomfort and I'm like, yeah, nope, can't do that.
- 12:18Speaker 1: So I'll try and find a modification or I'll just
- 12:21Speaker 1: you know, wait till the next exercise. I'm a very
- 12:24Speaker 1: competitive person, so for me, I hate when I go
- 12:27Speaker 1: through a workout and it's like, oh, I can't do that,
- 12:30Speaker 1: Like okay, I'm just gonna have to sit and watch
- 12:32Speaker 1: and wait till I can do a movement. So I
- 12:35Speaker 1: think that's been pretty difficult. It is just kind of
- 12:37Speaker 1: like not like giving up, but it feels like you're
- 12:39Speaker 1: kind of like giving up on something. But I'm trying
- 12:41Speaker 1: to be kind to myself and tell myself that like,
- 12:43Speaker 1: this is the journey of healing, is that you're gonna
- 12:46Speaker 1: have to say no to certain things that are going
- 12:47Speaker 1: to obviously aggravate or upset the injury. So just again,
- 12:51Speaker 1: this is something very new that I just started this
- 12:53Speaker 1: week that I'm trying to adapt into somewhat of a
- 12:56Speaker 1: routine for myself. Another thing that I want to do
- 12:59Speaker 1: is I want to wake up early again. I think
- 13:01Speaker 1: the struggle for me is that I usually book a
- 13:04Speaker 1: workout class, so it kind of forces me to get
- 13:06Speaker 1: up early. And get out of the house, and I
- 13:08Speaker 1: love it, but I unfortunately don't have that luxury right
- 13:13Speaker 1: now of doing that. So I think I get a
- 13:14Speaker 1: little too comfortable of knowing that, Okay, well, I'm not
- 13:17Speaker 1: rushing anywhere. I can, you know, sleep in a little
- 13:20Speaker 1: bit and take my time going downstairs to do a
- 13:24Speaker 1: workout or a walk, but it.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Does take longer my routine.
- 13:29Speaker 1: So like I'm doing like twenty minutes stretching, forty minute walk,
- 13:32Speaker 1: twenty minute workout, Like that's almost like two hours right
- 13:34Speaker 1: there of my time. So then I look at the
- 13:36Speaker 1: time and I'm like, oh my godess, like I need
- 13:38Speaker 1: to have breakfast, I need to start my workday. Like
- 13:39Speaker 1: I feel all rushed. So it is still important for
- 13:43Speaker 1: me to wake up early and get these things done
- 13:45Speaker 1: before I start my workday. So I'm trying to make
- 13:47Speaker 1: it a priority to get back into my six thirty
- 13:50Speaker 1: wake up call and get downstairs by seven, Whereas right
- 13:54Speaker 1: now I'm like waking up at seven and I'm not
- 13:55Speaker 1: getting downstairs till like seven thirty, which is just the
- 13:58Speaker 1: reality right now.
- 13:59Speaker 2: But we're trying to.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Identify changes and how we can make things better. I
- 14:05Speaker 1: want to get back into my journaling routine, track my
- 14:08Speaker 1: progress of my injury, because I think tracking the progress
- 14:11Speaker 1: allows myself to see the positivities out of the injury,
- 14:15Speaker 1: Like even if it is a small step to the injury,
- 14:18Speaker 1: it makes me feel good and it's almost like a
- 14:20Speaker 1: small win that I can see and kind of creates a.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Positive mindset for myself.
- 14:26Speaker 1: And I think it's a small thing that I can
- 14:27Speaker 1: track that will bring back that positive mindset that I
- 14:30Speaker 1: want for myself.
- 14:31Speaker 2: So realizing how important journaling is.
- 14:33Speaker 1: And how doing that every single day will really help
- 14:36Speaker 1: my mindset that's currently going through a tough time and
- 14:40Speaker 1: bringing in that positive energy by tracking my progress of
- 14:44Speaker 1: my injury, sharing my experience through journaling and kind of
- 14:48Speaker 1: like reflecting on it and seeing how much progress I've
- 14:50Speaker 1: actually made from you know, last week versus this week,
- 14:53Speaker 1: and then you know, forcing myself to get outside more
- 14:56Speaker 1: and just like try to enjoy and embrace the winter goal.
- 15:01Speaker 1: But also like booking coffee dates with my girlfriends, Like
- 15:03Speaker 1: I texted to my girlfriends this week wanting to catch
- 15:06Speaker 1: up and you know, just have a coffee date together.
- 15:09Speaker 1: So I have two coffee dates booked, So I'm really
- 15:11Speaker 1: happy about that and I also decided that I want
- 15:14Speaker 1: to go to home Sense this week and start doing
- 15:16Speaker 1: some spring purchasing for spring home decor, just kind of
- 15:21Speaker 1: like make the home feel a little bit more spring vibes,
- 15:24Speaker 1: bring in some color.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Into the house.
- 15:27Speaker 1: So I thought I could go on a little date,
- 15:29Speaker 1: a little solo date with myself and go to home
- 15:32Speaker 1: Sense and just start thinking of things that I can
- 15:35Speaker 1: add to my home just to kind of bring spring
- 15:38Speaker 1: into my home. And of course, a lot of our
- 15:40Speaker 1: favorite clothing brands like Aritzia, Reformation Revolve Airy, like all
- 15:46Speaker 1: the brands that you can think of, a lot of
- 15:47Speaker 1: them have released a lot of cute spring collections and
- 15:51Speaker 1: spring clothing pieces, and I try my best not to
- 15:55Speaker 1: go crazy on that.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Type of stuff.
- 15:56Speaker 1: But I did splurge and get myself a little workout
- 15:59Speaker 1: set from a Ritz Yeah in this beautiful baby blue
- 16:01Speaker 1: color that I'm obsessed with, And I'm really happy I
- 16:04Speaker 1: got that for myself because it really motivated me to
- 16:06Speaker 1: kind of, yeah, we're the workout set, get a workout
- 16:09Speaker 1: in kind of find myself again in that sense. So
- 16:12Speaker 1: sometimes retail therapy is always a good idea, even if
- 16:15Speaker 1: it is just getting a new workout set for yourself.
- 16:18Speaker 1: But yeah, I'm starting to kind of look into spring,
- 16:20Speaker 1: get excited about you know, spring jackets in spring clothing.
- 16:24Speaker 1: So yeah, I'm trying to feel reinspired with my style
- 16:27Speaker 1: as well with going into a new season. I'll definitely
- 16:30Speaker 1: chat a lot more about Spring, probably in the next episode,
- 16:33Speaker 1: just we'll do like a little Spring reset episode of
- 16:35Speaker 1: things that you can do to kind of get yourself
- 16:37Speaker 1: in the spring mood. But those are two things that
- 16:39Speaker 1: I'm doing this week to kind of get myself into
- 16:42Speaker 1: that spring mindset and create again excitement getting out of
- 16:46Speaker 1: the house, doing things that kind of change my mindset.
- 16:49Speaker 1: And instead of focusing on winter, I'm trying to focus
- 16:52Speaker 1: on the new season and the excitement around a new
- 16:55Speaker 1: season as well. So I'm really just trying to find
- 16:58Speaker 1: ways to change my mindset and doing the these little
- 17:00Speaker 1: things that are kind of like my back to Me series,
- 17:03Speaker 1: I think is really going to help me mentally. So,
- 17:07Speaker 1: you know, telling myself that I can build a routine
- 17:10Speaker 1: even if I do have a back injury, like finding
- 17:12Speaker 1: some type of structure in my day to day life
- 17:15Speaker 1: to create something for myself that I can do every
- 17:17Speaker 1: single morning. And it's very different, right it's very different
- 17:21Speaker 1: than what I'm used to, and that's okay. I think
- 17:23Speaker 1: it's okay to make changes. And I think that's actually
- 17:26Speaker 1: going to always be the case where I am going
- 17:28Speaker 1: to have to prioritize stretching a lot more than I
- 17:31Speaker 1: used to because of this injury and how much it's
- 17:33Speaker 1: impacted my day to day life.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Like I think I'm gonna have to.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Wake up probably twenty minutes earlier than I typically would
- 17:40Speaker 1: and stretch for twenty minutes before I go to a
- 17:43Speaker 1: pilates class or before I go to a workout class,
- 17:46Speaker 1: because I don't ever want this muscle to you know,
- 17:50Speaker 1: act up ever again. And it's made me realize how
- 17:53Speaker 1: important stretching is and how it's not something that we
- 17:56Speaker 1: should really fuck around with. Excuse my language, but like
- 17:59Speaker 1: it's it really is an eye opening experience of when
- 18:02Speaker 1: you get injured, you just realize how important it is
- 18:05Speaker 1: to stretch your body or you know, go to yoga
- 18:08Speaker 1: classes and just like relax your body and get those
- 18:11Speaker 1: massages and all that. Like it truly does make a
- 18:14Speaker 1: huge difference when you are going through it. I will
- 18:17Speaker 1: say I got a sports injury massage this past weekend
- 18:20Speaker 1: and that was insane. I was not expecting it to
- 18:24Speaker 1: be as painful as it was. But I will say
- 18:26Speaker 1: I feel way less tight, and I'm so grateful that
- 18:30Speaker 1: I pushed through that pain because I literally was biting
- 18:32Speaker 1: the inside of my cheek and I was like bleeding
- 18:34Speaker 1: because I was in so much discomfort. But the girl
- 18:37Speaker 1: was really good. She was talking me through it, and
- 18:39Speaker 1: she's like, I promise you, Like, I know it's really
- 18:41Speaker 1: painful right now, you're going to be in pain for
- 18:42Speaker 1: probably two days after two just like I felt like
- 18:45Speaker 1: there was like bruises on my back from the massage
- 18:49Speaker 1: after the past few days. But I'm like, I think
- 18:51Speaker 1: four or five days since I got the massage, and
- 18:55Speaker 1: I honestly feel way less tighter. So I'm like this
- 18:59Speaker 1: was so needed. So I'm actually really happy that I
- 19:01Speaker 1: did it. I will be going back one hundred percent,
- 19:05Speaker 1: probably not for another two weeks, because she did say
- 19:07Speaker 1: to space it out a bit, just because obviously it
- 19:08Speaker 1: is a very aggressive massage. It is not relaxing whatsoever.
- 19:13Speaker 1: But I didn't do any research before because I knew
- 19:16Speaker 1: I would have probably chickened out if I did too
- 19:18Speaker 1: much research. So I'm very happy that I kind of
- 19:20Speaker 1: just went in with the mindset of just kind of like,
- 19:22Speaker 1: let's just figure out how to deal with this injury
- 19:25Speaker 1: and how we can make it better. And I do
- 19:27Speaker 1: think this was something that really really helped it out.
- 19:30Speaker 1: And then another thing that I'm doing to change my
- 19:32Speaker 1: mindset is again finding a way to wake up earlier
- 19:35Speaker 1: again by motivating myself to find a routine of getting
- 19:39Speaker 1: my butt out of bed by six point thirty instead
- 19:42Speaker 1: of seven, and like creating that routine for myself to
- 19:45Speaker 1: do that way it doesn't impact my workday. And getting
- 19:49Speaker 1: back on Pinterest, feeling more inspired again, finding things that
- 19:53Speaker 1: you know, inspire me, whether it's trying new foods, whether
- 19:56Speaker 1: it's following people for their style or home style all that. Like,
- 20:00Speaker 1: you guys know how much I love Pinterest and how
- 20:02Speaker 1: much I think it's such an amazing app And so
- 20:04Speaker 1: getting back on there and really just like using it
- 20:08Speaker 1: to my advantage of feeling inspired again and getting back
- 20:12Speaker 1: into a journaling routine is really just things that I
- 20:15Speaker 1: want to focus on, as I said, just writing the
- 20:17Speaker 1: small wins of each day and checking things off and
- 20:20Speaker 1: feeling good about what I accomplish each day to bring
- 20:23Speaker 1: that positive mindset back into my life, and so that's
- 20:27Speaker 1: kind of things that I'm doing to kind of define
- 20:30Speaker 1: myself as becoming her again, of that person that I
- 20:33Speaker 1: want to become. You know, one thing that I realized
- 20:37Speaker 1: that I really need to make a priority, and this
- 20:40Speaker 1: was actually one of my big goals for twenty twenty
- 20:41Speaker 1: six is trying to learn patience. And I think with
- 20:48Speaker 1: an injury, you have to understand that injuries do not
- 20:52Speaker 1: just get resolved in two weeks like maybe it would
- 20:55Speaker 1: have seven years ago when I was like twenty one
- 20:58Speaker 1: or twenty two. I still think that I'm that young
- 21:02Speaker 1: and that I can get over an injury like that
- 21:03Speaker 1: because I grew up playing a lot of competitive sports,
- 21:07Speaker 1: and you know, I would get injured and not gonna lie.
- 21:10Speaker 1: I'd go maybe to one or two physio sessions, you know,
- 21:14Speaker 1: kind of force myself to get back on the ice
- 21:16Speaker 1: or back on the soccer field, and it would kind
- 21:18Speaker 1: of recover and I'd be good.
- 21:20Speaker 2: I'd be like, Okay, great.
- 21:21Speaker 1: That's the exact mindset that I would have as a
- 21:23Speaker 1: younger kid. And so I think when I had this
- 21:27Speaker 1: back injury, when I got it, I think I was
- 21:28Speaker 1: in that mindset where I'm like, oh, yeah, I'm young.
- 21:30Speaker 2: It's easy whenever.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Like, I'm just gonna keep doing pilates and I'm just
- 21:33Speaker 1: gonna kind of ignore it and I'll do the odds
- 21:35Speaker 1: stretching here and there. But you know, it's gonna resolve itself,
- 21:38Speaker 1: so I'll just keep doing it and just yeah, hope
- 21:41Speaker 1: that it will resolve like it typically does.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Right, Like the typical.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Injuries that I had when I was younger, it will
- 21:45Speaker 1: just resolve and everything will be back to normal. That
- 21:47Speaker 1: was obviously not the case, and I had to completely
- 21:50Speaker 1: stop working out and now completely adapt new things into
- 21:55Speaker 1: my day to day life to accommodate this injury. And
- 21:58Speaker 1: that was like the biggest was realizing, oh, I'm.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Not as young as I used to be, and I
- 22:05Speaker 2: can't get over an injury as you know I used
- 22:08Speaker 2: to do.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Right, So it's really like adapting and understanding that injuries
- 22:12Speaker 1: take time and that it's all about a healing journey
- 22:15Speaker 1: and that you have to be patient and patient in
- 22:19Speaker 1: things in life as well. And that's something that I'm
- 22:21Speaker 1: working on right Like if I have a fight with
- 22:24Speaker 1: my sister or a fight with my husband, like, you know,
- 22:27Speaker 1: I need to be patient when we have those arguments,
- 22:29Speaker 1: they don't always get solved immediately. It could take you
- 22:32Speaker 1: know a few hours for us to like actually want
- 22:34Speaker 1: to sit down and talk about what happened, you know,
- 22:37Speaker 1: or my injury can't be healed immediately.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Like I'm just kind of.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Throwing out random examples of like what I could work
- 22:42Speaker 1: on for patients. But I think that's something that I'm
- 22:45Speaker 1: really trying to work on this year and trying to
- 22:49Speaker 1: adapt it into you know, anything in life right now
- 22:53Speaker 1: is focusing on that. And so yeah, and then right now,
- 22:57Speaker 1: I guess things that I'm trying to motivate myself to
- 23:01Speaker 1: do right now is create a routine for myself that
- 23:04Speaker 1: makes me motivated and excited to get out of bed
- 23:07Speaker 1: thinking about spring and how a spring is literally around
- 23:10Speaker 1: the corner.
- 23:11Speaker 2: I'm starting Spring this week.
- 23:13Speaker 1: I don't care what anyone says March is next week
- 23:15Speaker 1: that in my head spring starts now.
- 23:17Speaker 2: I love shopping in a new season. It gets me motivated,
- 23:20Speaker 2: it gets me excited.
- 23:21Speaker 1: And then creating this like thirty day challenge for myself
- 23:24Speaker 1: where I'm telling myself that I'm going to become this
- 23:28Speaker 1: version of myself again by creating a new routine and
- 23:31Speaker 1: trying new habits to get myself in a better mindset
- 23:34Speaker 1: and to get my injury in a better place so
- 23:37Speaker 1: I can get back to you know, workouts and doing.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Things that bring me joy again.
- 23:42Speaker 1: So anyways, I just kind of wanted to share a
- 23:45Speaker 1: quick episode on this because this is kind of like
- 23:47Speaker 1: what I'm currently going through, and I know there might
- 23:50Speaker 1: be someone out there that might be feeling very similar
- 23:52Speaker 1: where they don't know how to navigate this loss or
- 23:57Speaker 1: this feeling that you might have that you feel like
- 24:00Speaker 1: you're losing yourself, and so I wanted to create an
- 24:02Speaker 1: episode on things that I'm doing to kind of help myself.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Through this you know, mental challenge that.
- 24:08Speaker 1: I'm going through, and I'm really hoping these things will help.
- 24:11Speaker 2: I'm already feeling really good, honestly, just two to three
- 24:14Speaker 2: days in.
- 24:15Speaker 1: I started this week, so you know, obviously it's very fresh,
- 24:18Speaker 1: but I definitely feel like I'm really making changes to
- 24:24Speaker 1: get back to my old self and or my new
- 24:27Speaker 1: self essentially in a way that I want to see
- 24:30Speaker 1: myself and become this better version of myself.
- 24:33Speaker 2: And I'm excited. I'm excited to feel the motivation again.
- 24:36Speaker 1: I'm excited to feel that spark again that I've been
- 24:38Speaker 1: missing and that energy that I want, and again, I'd
- 24:41Speaker 1: rather just be real and honest with you guys of
- 24:43Speaker 1: what I'm currently going through and be able to maybe
- 24:46Speaker 1: relate to one of you guys who might be currently
- 24:49Speaker 1: also going through something similar. So anyways, I hope you
- 24:52Speaker 1: guys enjoyed this episode. If you're new, definitely make sure
- 24:55Speaker 1: to follow me on Instagram and TikTok. I'm also on YouTube.
