- 0:41Also some ChatGPT, Open AI, some other AI news.
- 0:46So please tune in this Sunday, 2:00 PM January 14th at
- 0:50youtube.com/the Elon Musk Podcast.
- 0:54Open AI recently announced the launch of its GPT store, which
- 0:58is a platform that allows users to share custom chat bots, also
- 1:02known as GPTS, and this store, which opens up new possibilities
- 1:06for ChatGPT alone was initially slated for a November release,
- 1:11but experienced several delays, finally becoming available in
- 1:14January of 2024. Now, since the introduction of
- 1:18the GPT Builder program in November, over 3 million custom
- 1:21GPTS have been created. These GPTS cover various
- 1:25applications and Open AI plans to feature outstanding examples
- 1:29in the store weekly. The GPT store's opening marks a
- 1:33significant expansion at Open AIS ecosystem, offering more
- 1:36than just the company's in house developments now.
- 1:39The launch was postponed from November to December and then to
- 1:42January, and the GPT store enables creators to publicly
- 1:46showcase their custom chat bots, although currently only
- 1:49subscribers to Open AIS paid tiers can create and use these
- 1:53custom GPTS. In addition to the store, Open
- 1:57AI is initiating a revenue sharing model for GPT creators
- 2:01set to begin in the first quarter of the year.
- 2:03Creators will earn based on user engagement, though the specifics
- 2:07of the arrangements are yet to be disclosed, and Open AI has
- 2:11implemented a new review system to ensure that all custom GP TS
- 2:14adhere to its brand guidelines and usage policies.
- 2:18The company has also streamlined the process of reporting GP TS
- 2:22that users find harmful or unsafe.
- 2:24The GPT store is accessible to users of GPT Plus Enterprise and
- 2:30a new subscription tier called Team.
- 2:33This tier, aimed at smaller teams of up to 150 members,
- 2:36includes access to GPT 4, Dolly Three, and advanced data
- 2:41analysis features with a commitment to privacy and data
- 2:44security. Chat.
- 2:46GPT Team is priced at $25 per user monthly when billed
- 2:50annually and $30 per user for monthly billing, and offers
- 2:55custom GPT creation for specific team needs.
- 2:59This plan ensures that user data and conversations are not
- 3:02utilized for model training purposes.
- 3:05Now, Open AI's recent venture mirrors the concept of the
- 3:08Microsoft Store, providing A centralized location for sharing
- 3:12and discovering a wide range of custom GPT bots.
- 3:15The GPT Store features categories like Dolly writing,
- 3:19research, programming, education, and lifestyle
- 3:23promoting the visibility of these custom creations.
- 3:26And the GPT store not only offers a public platform for
- 3:30displaying custom GPTS, but also aims to enhance their
- 3:33discoverability. However, the creation and usage
- 3:37of these custom bots are limited to subscribers of specific Open
- 3:41AI plans. And the revenue sharing program
- 3:43for GPT creators, primarily based on user engagement, shows
- 3:47a new direction for Open AI. It offers creators a potential
- 3:51income stream for their innovations, aligning with the
- 3:53broader trend of monetizing digital creators.
- 3:57Creations now ChatGPT team, as part of this initiative, extends
- 4:03existing subscription benefits. Of course, it uses Dolly 3 and
- 4:07GPT 4, and this shows that Open AI is willing and open to
- 4:13provide advanced tools for smaller teams and admits these
- 4:17developments. Open AI has openly acknowledged
- 4:20the necessity of using copyrighted material in AI
- 4:23development. The company recently submitted a
- 4:26statement to EU KS House of Lords emphasizing that creating
- 4:29effective AI models like ChatGPT would be impossible without such
- 4:34materials, and Open AI submission highlights the
- 4:37extensive scope of copyright law, covering almost all forms
- 4:41of human expression. The company argues that
- 4:43restricting training data to public domain sources would
- 4:46severely limit the effectiveness and relevance of modern AI
- 4:50systems. This acknowledgement follows a
- 4:52lawsuit filed by the New York Times against Open AI and
- 4:56Microsoft, alleging unauthorized use of the newspaper's content.
- 5:00Open AI has responded, dismissing the lawsuit as
- 5:04lacking of merit and reaffirming its commitment to journalism and
- 5:09collaborative partnerships. Now Open AI's defense leans
- 5:13heavily on the principle of Fair use, which allows limited use of
- 5:16copyrighted material without explicit permission under
- 5:20specific conditions. The company maintains that using
- 5:23publicly available Internet materials for AI training falls
- 5:27under this principle. Now, this isn't the first
- 5:30instance of Open AI citing fair use in defense of its training
- 5:34methods. In a previous copyright lawsuit
- 5:36involving comedian Sarah Silverman, Open AI argued that
- 5:41the scope of copyright law includes exceptions for
- 5:43innovation, suggesting that their use of publicly available
- 5:46materials is a legitimate practice under fair use.
- 5:51Now, the GPT stores launch, combined with the introduction
- 5:54of ChatGPT team, and open AI stance on copyright issues,
- 5:58shows that the company is moving forward.
- 6:00It's a complex landscape of AI development and also making
- 6:04money. Open a is.
- 6:05Recent initiatives mark important steps in expanding the
- 6:08reach and capabilities of AI tech.
- 6:10The GPT store and ChatGPT team offer new avenues for AI
- 6:15application and creation, and also a little bit of money
- 6:19there. And while the company stance on
- 6:21copyright usage underscores the intricate balance between
- 6:24innovation and legal compliance, Hey, thank you so much for
