- 0:01Welcome to Rick and That Michelle Chick, the weekly
- 0:05podcast where your hosts, Rick and Michelle, confidently dive
- 0:10into topics they know absolutely nothing about and somehow make
- 0:15it sound legit. They're not experts.
- 0:17They're not qualified. Honestly, they barely googled
- 0:20it. So grab a drink, lower your
- 0:23expectations, and let's pretend this counts as content.
- 0:28So buckle up. Facts are optional, but the
- 0:31bullshit? That's premium grade.
- 0:34This is Rick and that Michelle chick.
- 0:41Well, we are officially back from our holiday grade.
- 0:45Welcome back. There's the light.
- 0:49It's a party. It's a party.
- 0:52Show us your lamp. This is.
- 0:54Your. Ring light.
- 0:56Yeah, so the ring light ended up getting, Bodie ended up going
- 0:59under there I think was Bodie or Barkley got tangled up in the,
- 1:02he got tangled up in the cords underneath the desk.
- 1:06And so and so he ended up yanking it out of the wall.
- 1:09Now the hilarity. You know me well enough to know
- 1:11that I went to Walmart and I've been going to Walmart like over
- 1:14the last few months to get a new ring light.
- 1:16And I'm looking for the $9 one, right.
- 1:19And the $9 one is out and the Next up there.
- 1:21And of course, it's not like you get a, you can get a 15 or even
- 1:23a 20. The next one's the $35, right?
- 1:27Like, like the standing like, but the standing one, it's like,
- 1:29what? Where's the Where's the little
- 1:31baby ring light? I mean I have the standing one.
- 1:34Of course you do. But I think mine was from Amazon
- 1:36and it wasn't $35.00. So, you know, everybody needs to
- 1:41buy their social media teenager a ring.
- 1:43Like for Christmas, I was. Like, yeah, you're you're a big
- 1:46pimping at your place. And so, you know, I'm I'm
- 1:49surprised you don't have what is it the where they have the
- 1:50holder, where they have the phone like sideways.
- 1:52I see that all. I think I do have.
- 1:55I do have that for the ring light.
- 1:57I just don't know. How to right.
- 1:59So it's like, yeah, so but but you are correct, because
- 2:02everybody I'm sure is starting a podcast or every teenager
- 2:05starting a podcast, everybody starting a podcast.
- 2:08And so and they need the all that stuff like, man, they're
- 2:11making big money. No one's making well the people
- 2:15I'm saying. People that make.
- 2:16Stuff as the podcast and influencers aren't making any
- 2:19money right the. Problem the ring lights and all
- 2:21the. Manufacturers.
- 2:22Oh, I'm sure it was. I'm sure it was a good Christmas
- 2:24forever. I'm sure it was a good Christmas
- 2:25for those guys, right? Oh, definitely.
- 2:27So Speaking of Christmas, how was your Christmas?
- 2:30It was good. Do you want to go first?
- 2:32You want me to go first? Well, inquiring minds want to
- 2:35know if Megan was happy with all her gifts.
- 2:40So for the so interesting story about this for the first year
- 2:45ever. So normally she doesn't take
- 2:49anything ever back or anything. So I did get her jewelry from
- 2:53Fred Meyer and she did ask, hey, can I go exchange this for
- 2:58something else? I got her some earrings and I,
- 3:00I, you know, so she did go get a bracelet.
- 3:03So I'm assuming the jewelry was not on her list because you have
- 3:07talked about she. Had mentioned she had mentioned
- 3:09jewelry. But she mentioned.
- 3:11Jewelry but not but it wasn't on our list.
- 3:13OK, so it. Was on the list.
- 3:14Specifically on her list she was like I want these diamond
- 3:17earrings XYZ no. It was just friends jeweler.
- 3:21No, it was some extra, it was an extra little gift.
- 3:23OK, so interesting enough that so so she yeah, so she she she
- 3:27never asked, but this time she said, I can I take that?
- 3:29And I said sure. And so she did that.
- 3:32And then The funny thing is we so I was at the company party
- 3:37and this year we had it at Twigs, one of your favorite
- 3:40places in Kennewick. But it but it was just a lunch.
- 3:43So there are no spouses, blah, blah, blah.
- 3:45And so Nick? So they're going cheap is what
- 3:47you're saying? Right, So Nick the general
- 3:49manager had bought what digital photo frames, he bought some
- 3:53headphones, he bought a little Bluetooth boom box thing.
- 3:57And then and then there was this comforter, this Gray and really
- 4:01cool comforter from Costco, one of those big fancy faux fur
- 4:05ones, super expensive ones, right?
- 4:07And so I'm sitting there going, I should get the digital photo.
- 4:11You know, that was my first thought knowing Megan.
- 4:14But we just got a brand new bedroom set that we got at
- 4:17Walker's and it's Gray. And I thought, well, that would
- 4:20match. So dumbass me gets the gets the
- 4:24quilt set, which is absolutely expensive.
- 4:26It really is. And so it was one of the things
- 4:29that was not on her list. And so at the end of Christmas,
- 4:32she's like, Hey, do you have the receipt for that?
- 4:35And I did not, I did not tell her that it was a re gift.
- 4:39She was cool with it, but but I just said, I said, actually I
- 4:43got that at the company party. And I said, and I said, damn it,
- 4:45I should have gone for the digital photo.
- 4:47What was I thinking? Anyway, we're going to use that
- 4:50comforter set since I don't have a receipt in the guest room.
- 4:53Yeah, you're stuck with it now. But but I but I want to say
- 4:57overall she I mean as she says she got everything on her list.
- 5:00I don't think there was any. But you got the extra, didn't
- 5:03you Get the concert tickets for Jack?
- 5:05Johnson, Yeah, Jack Johnson. She loved that.
- 5:06That was like the extra. Thing.
- 5:08Yeah, there was. Oh, she had a ton of extras.
- 5:10I got her a Buckle gift card. I got her Roscoe's coffee.
- 5:13I mean, she she like, she says she if, if yeah, and stuff that
- 5:18wasn't even on her list. So she does.
- 5:20Right. But stuff that you knew she
- 5:21likes. So yeah, you know, she likes the
- 5:24coffee plays. You know, she's just a buckle,
- 5:26right? Stuff like that then.
- 5:28Yeah, I just, I mean, I can't again, just get I, I, I getting
- 5:31a rise out of her is just, it's just tough.
- 5:33I mean, like I said, the pink to Vegas, you know, she said, oh, I
- 5:38cried for that one. Yeah, well, I cried too.
- 5:41My wallet, My wallet cried bloody murd.
- 5:46And that's the problem is now you have to go to that extreme
- 5:51to be able to get that kind of reaction out of her now because.
- 5:56Yeah, she's not expected. You know, I mean, that's the
- 5:59good news, Michelle. She doesn't expect it.
- 6:02No. You know, but but but yeah,
- 6:05trying to find those, Yeah, trying to find those those gifts
- 6:08that really make her cry and make her wow is just that it's a
- 6:11hard ass. But we had we had a good, we had
- 6:13a good, we had a really quiet Christmas because Logan wasn't
- 6:17here and then Kyron was here and they went saw his dad the next
- 6:24day or the couple days after that.
- 6:25The crazy thing I got to I got to bring this up really super
- 6:28quick and I will not spend a lot of time on it.
- 6:30So when do you open presents? For us and our kids or in
- 6:37general? Yeah, just Christmas.
- 6:38Christmas. Do you?
- 6:40Do you do Christmas Eve or do you do Christmas morning?
- 6:43Christmas morning. But now that Benjamin and Haley
- 6:46have their own little family, the only reason they came over
- 6:49Christmas morning this year is their washer flooded their house
- 6:54a couple months ago. And so their floor has been torn
- 6:56up until they've been battling insurance.
- 6:58You know that limbo, you get in with insurance until they can
- 7:01come fix it. And so they have been in that
- 7:03limbo for a couple months with a baby, mind you, which is chaos.
- 7:08And so they didn't have a Christmas tree up.
- 7:10And so they asked if they could come over Christmas morning.
- 7:13Otherwise this was going to be our first Christmas not opening
- 7:17presents with all the kids on Christmas morning and their
- 7:20stockings. And we were going to do it a
- 7:21little bit later on on Christmas Day.
- 7:24So I'm foreseeing that's what's going to happen next year or in
- 7:28the future now that they do have their own family.
- 7:30But generally it is Christmas morning for our immediate
- 7:33family. Then like grandma, grandpa, they
- 7:37can, they come over later on the day like for dinner, like around
- 7:423. They usually come over like
- 7:44around 3:00 and then we have Christmas dinner and open up
- 7:47their presents. So, yeah, so.
- 7:50So. What about you?
- 7:51Why? Here's my dilemma.
- 7:52So here's what I here's I have very little expectations in life
- 7:56and you know, this is true. It is a true fact.
- 7:58It is true. I don't really expect a lot from
- 8:00anybody having grown up the way I have grown up.
- 8:03I don't really, I don't expect anything from anybody.
- 8:05I don't, you know, but as a kid or with my wonderful foster
- 8:10parents or, or even for Logan is I have always once, once people
- 8:16are up, you open presents. So, so let's say everybody gets
- 8:19up at 5:00 AM, Guess what? You're opening presents.
- 8:23I just felt that. And so Kyron, this is I, I don't
- 8:26normally get irritated, but I was really irritated.
- 8:28So Kyron, that night we had Christmas dinner.
- 8:30We had a dinner and, and I said, hey, it's like, I'm one of those
- 8:35people that when you get up, let's open presents.
- 8:38And he's like, Oh yeah, she goes, I might stay up all night,
- 8:41just just open presents. And sure as shit on Christmas
- 8:46Day he didn't get up till like 9 or 10.
- 8:50Oh, so I'm out in the yard playing with my dogs.
- 8:53Just waiting. Just frustrated by, I feel like
- 8:57that's the only thing I ask, you know what I'm saying?
- 9:00And so and so many years ago, so many years ago, we had an
- 9:03experience with Logan that I never want to repeat.
- 9:06So Pokey and I, so we were going to go to her family's house to
- 9:10open presents 1 Christmas, right?
- 9:12Well, her dad and he was a nice guy.
- 9:15He's passed away. He's a very nice guy, but he
- 9:17would never get up before noon or one.
- 9:20So he just wouldn't. He just wouldn't.
- 9:23So to me it's like so and and they're like, well, you're not
- 9:25opening. So we went over to her parents
- 9:27place. I'm like son of a like I.
- 9:30Mean I wouldn't have gone over until like after one.
- 9:33Then you know why. I need to open presents at 5 AM,
- 9:396:00 AM that I guess that's that's that's my expectation.
- 9:44It's like, let's get up the. Lesson is you need to have a
- 9:46specific time to tell Kyron, like you need to be up by 8:00
- 9:52AM whatever time. But he's a grumpy bear, so he so
- 9:56one of the things that Kyron has always been he is the worst
- 10:00morning person. He just is.
- 10:02And I'm going to say I don't care if I mean, he's a pisser.
- 10:05He's a pisser in the morning. He is not fun to be around.
- 10:08No, he is not. He's grumpy.
- 10:10He's a grumpy person. And it's like, so to me, I, I
- 10:13was getting excited at Christmas dinner because he's like, hey,
- 10:15oh, I'm going to stay up all night.
- 10:17We're going to open at 5:00 AM or 6:00 AM.
- 10:19I'm good with that. I'm like, yay, we get there.
- 10:23And yeah, So I don't know. Should I, should I do a better
- 10:27job of telling Megan Hey, next year?
- 10:28Megan, the expectation is I don't ask a lot, but I want 6:00
- 10:31AM presents. I mean, you can say that.
- 10:34How do you think that's going to go over with her?
- 10:37Like what do you how does she feel about it?
- 10:39Or does she really? Or does she mind either?
- 10:41Way she was up, yeah, I don't. I don't think she cares either
- 10:44way. Right.
- 10:45But I'm like, I'm like, you know, I mean, it's like.
- 10:49You're like, you're like a kid. I want to open my presents at
- 10:536:00 so I can play with my toys all day.
- 10:55Yes, I mean, that's because football's on, because
- 10:57football's on at 10, you know, and you want to eat leftovers
- 11:00and all that. So.
- 11:01Yeah, so it's so it's like, yeah, it's like Christmas
- 11:06tradition for me is like, hey, the minute everybody's up, none
- 11:09of this 1:00 bullshit. It's like I.
- 11:11Mean you've been that it's Christmas Day, you need to say
- 11:14look next year I would like to do XYZ like I.
- 11:19Don't care if it's even 7. I don't even care if it's 7:00
- 11:21AM but but. Even like 8:00 AM it's.
- 11:23Reasonable. I'm like the day is already
- 11:25wasted. For you because you have to get
- 11:28up at like 4. Right.
- 11:30Well, yeah. So anyway, so I remember being
- 11:33really upset as I'm walking the yard.
- 11:35I didn't, I I never told Megan. I never told Megan.
- 11:37I never told her. I was like that upset.
- 11:39But I'm not playing with the dogs, you know, in my own pissy
- 11:42mood. And I and I and I sat and I'm
- 11:44like, I'm like, OK, it's Christmas Day, Virgil, you need
- 11:47to snap out of it and not be a pisser about it.
- 11:50But I was just more disappointed by the fact that, oh, you're oh,
- 11:54I'm going to be up all night and I'm going to and I'm going to
- 11:56open presents. So I should have known he's, you
- 11:58know, a young person that, you know, they talk a lot of smack.
- 12:03That doesn't necessarily mean. They're inconsiderate.
- 12:06They are. They are inconsiderate.
- 12:08And then, and then Megan, of course, plans everything around
- 12:11him. Oh yeah, I have that.
- 12:14So we have a couple of. Right.
- 12:16It's like now you have 4. I know you, I get it.
- 12:18You've got 4 kids and I understand.
- 12:20That it's not so much my kids, it's other family members, kids.
- 12:23Oh yeah, we have to. Why are we?
- 12:26Yeah, I guess I'm just like, why am I making concessions here?
- 12:29Yeah, yeah. So anyway, it was good.
- 12:31It was, it was good. As you can tell.
- 12:33I got, I got which you don't ever see me wear.
- 12:36You got to. So I I don't like juries.
- 12:40What's that? Or is that a regular ring or one
- 12:42it's? A silicone, it's a silicone
- 12:44silicone ring or whatever. So we've, I don't know if we've
- 12:47ever talked about this. I don't like anything that
- 12:49touches me. Like have you ever noticed I
- 12:51don't have jewelry? I don't have you.
- 12:52Never wear anything. No, and and not even a wedding
- 12:55ring. And so Megan had been talking
- 12:57for a long time about getting me it's it's almost like a rubber
- 12:59band or a silicon, a silicone. And so she got well, maybe
- 13:03you'll like that. So I'm trying to get used to
- 13:05wearing it and. How's it going?
- 13:08It's going good, It's going good.
- 13:09The funny thing is, it's interesting.
- 13:11My Christmas presents was as Megan said, all my Christmas
- 13:14presents benefit her in some way.
- 13:17Did you get the record player? I got the record player.
- 13:19Yep, I got the record player. I got a Richard Page album, a
- 13:23solo album, which is awesome. So red vinyl, very cool.
- 13:27So that was one of my favorite, favorite things.
- 13:29And a discovery Michelle was, I had thought because I had I
- 13:35talked about the fact that when Megan and I got married, she
- 13:37says, hey, it's either comic books or 40 or the records.
- 13:41And so I had gotten rid of these the I thought I'd gotten rid of
- 13:44all the records. Well, I went to our little
- 13:46underneath the stairs and there was a big It wasn't a lot, but
- 13:49there was probably 240 fives. Oh nice.
- 13:52Under there. So there was a ton of old
- 13:53records that I had not heard in a long time and I wanted to
- 13:57bring up on the podcast and I, I, I was going to bring
- 14:00something up that was interesting that I didn't
- 14:02mention in the book or that we've not talked about.
- 14:05So there was a time when I, when I was 15 to, I don't know,
- 14:12early, like, let's say 30 years old.
- 14:15I went through a phase to where I was into pop music, like
- 14:19really into pop music. So I bought 45 LP's.
- 14:23So when I when I first got my first crush on a girl, I dropped
- 14:27comics like a hot rock, right, like boom, like, you know what
- 14:31I'm saying? I was, I mean, not that I would
- 14:33not not. I've always loved comics.
- 14:34You already know that that never changed.
- 14:36But what I bought as a teenager, I wasn't you would think that
- 14:40I'd be buying comics non-stop. I didn't.
- 14:42I went through and I go through years where I don't buy any
- 14:45comics. And so it it, it varied.
- 14:48But one thing I never, I, I should have brought up in the
- 14:51book and just in the podcast was I had this massive album
- 14:56collection or record collection and, and I would try to buy all
- 15:00the Top 40 singles from, you know, so from 1985, probably
- 15:04into the early 90s, that's where I spent a bunch of money was,
- 15:09you know, and Columbia House ripping them off, RIP them off,
- 15:15you know, Oh God, got to get prosecuted now.
- 15:18So I had, like you said, so I had this massive music
- 15:20collection of, of different things.
- 15:22And so when we got married, Megan's like, OK, one or the
- 15:24other. And so and so anyway, it was
- 15:27great to find these, this box of 40 fives, this bunch of 40
- 15:29fives. So it was really cool.
- 15:31And songs that I hadn't heard that were not.
- 15:33So the cool thing Michelle, is I worked at a station that when
- 15:38they went CD, they just gave me their their record collection.
- 15:41Oh nice. Yeah, so, so I, so, so I had all
- 15:45the 40 fives that they had and, and the LP's that they had so
- 15:50and with and, and it got them for free.
- 15:53So the cool thing is you're going to love this.
- 15:55So there's 40 fives like Glenn Medeiros.
- 15:57Nothing's going to change my love for you.
- 15:59I mean, there's just these 40 fives, you know, you 2 or the
- 16:02streets have no name. So it's all from, you know.
- 16:06Yeah. So anyway, it's kind of cool
- 16:07just to go through there, put them on the vinyl and and I like
- 16:10the sound of vinyl. I love vinyl.
- 16:13I am not a collect. I am not a collector in the
- 16:16terms of I need Led Zeppelin or Beatles albums or any let you
- 16:19know because because you know me.
- 16:21The music I like is pretty, for the most part, pretty cheesy.
- 16:23I just mentioned Glenn Madero, so nothing's going to change my
- 16:26love for. You.
- 16:30Oh yeah. Rico Suave.
- 16:32I saw him in concert years ago and met him.
- 16:36He was on OK, so he had. He played it in Lewiston Rick.
- 16:41He had what two hits at the time or whatever one hit he won.
- 16:44So the band alias more the words can say Rico suave had that guy
- 16:50and then Alicia Silarello, you know, so and I think there was
- 16:55one other act They all had like one hit a piece.
- 16:58So and the and the radio station, not my radio station,
- 17:01but the competition brought him in.
- 17:03So I went to the I went to their their concert.
- 17:06But Rico slave so but oh, you know what else was done in the
- 17:1140 fives? Jive Bunny and the Master
- 17:13Mixers. Oh, I love that.
- 17:16Right. So, yeah.
- 17:17So anyway, so that's the kind of stuff that that I came across.
- 17:20Oh, this is a it's a great, great little throwback,
- 17:23different things like that. So I just want to drop really
- 17:25quick that I did go through a phase where I bought a lot of 40
- 17:31fives and albums and and it's cool to hear those, to hear
- 17:34those things again. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:36So. But overall, Christmas was good.
- 17:38Let's hear your Christmas. Matthew drew my name and so he
- 17:42got me. It's like a labyrinth.
- 17:45It has actual cells. Hold on, I'll woo.
- 17:48Woo lookout. Wow, it has.
- 17:49Actual movie cells. Yeah, I.
- 17:53I know, that's cool. It's the 40th anniversary of
- 17:55Labyrinth. It's in theaters this week, and
- 17:57I'm dragging Shaylee to go see it.
- 17:59Very cool. Wanna go see it?
- 18:01So yes, I was so thrilled I had to put that on my list.
- 18:05But it was kind of like, you know, it's nothing really.
- 18:09Did you have that on your list? I did, yes.
- 18:11Oh, got it on Etsy. It would have been cool.
- 18:14It would have been better if he had found it on his own.
- 18:16That would, you know, I mean, it's still, it's still amazing,
- 18:18Don't get me wrong. It's still amazing.
- 18:19But yeah. It which it has one of the cells
- 18:22from one of the things that I love so.
- 18:24Oh good. Oh, that's even better.
- 18:25It says that you can't pick which cells you want, they're
- 18:28just going through the the movie.
- 18:31But so that's great that why. Why do I think that you you and
- 18:34Megan are close to the same age? Because the journey of Natty
- 18:37Gann. She loves that movie and and
- 18:42Princess Bride. She likes all those in that same
- 18:45era. I'm not a big.
- 18:47I mean Princess Bride is OK, but Labyrinth is for.
- 18:50Summer. Right, like I fell in love with
- 18:54the David Bowie's character like that.
- 18:56That was like the first journey into loving bad boys, I think.
- 19:01And when I was and I, I would have been what, 11 with this
- 19:04movie came out so. Right, OK oh 'cause that's
- 19:07right. You.
- 19:08So you are older than Megan. You are older than.
- 19:10Megan, yeah, I'm older than her, so hopefully I don't.
- 19:13I'll try to contain singing all the songs while the movie's
- 19:17playing because I know how irritating that could be for
- 19:19people with Wicked. People were getting super
- 19:21irritated that people were singing the song, so I'll try to
- 19:24not sing the songs from Labyrinth out loud when we go to
- 19:28see this movie. You.
- 19:29Know it's kind of interesting. I'm super excited.
- 19:31It's the shared experience, though.
- 19:33I mean, that's what makes it special, right?
- 19:34You can have a bunch of you're gonna be, you're gonna be at the
- 19:36movie theater with a bunch of people.
- 19:38I don't know if there's going to be a bunch, but.
- 19:40I don't know. You never know.
- 19:42It's only for one day, so hopefully, yeah, the theatre
- 19:46will be filled. I don't know.
- 19:48I'm I was just surprised it was even going to be playing here in
- 19:51Yakima. So I was super excited about
- 19:54that and jumped on buying my tickets super fast.
- 19:56So so yeah, that I got that great gift.
- 20:00Christmas was fabulous because it was our grandbaby's first
- 20:03Christmas. So yeah, that was exciting.
- 20:06And then my niece, Natalie, do you remember her?
- 20:09Yeah, she had leukemia when she was like 8, and now she's, what,
- 20:1423? She just got engaged on
- 20:17Christmas, so we're all super excited for her.
- 20:22And then there was another holiday.
- 20:24Ham gravy fail. Oh no.
- 20:28This time it was too runny, but I was running behind to make
- 20:32Christmas dinner because we had spent so much time opening gifts
- 20:37with the kids and so I just didn't have time to try and
- 20:40thicken it more. But yeah, it was a disaster.
- 20:43So if anyone makes homemade ham gravy that I could purchase for
- 20:48the holidays please let me know because I will buy it.
- 20:51I I don't care I just want yes I just want homemade ham gravy
- 20:56with that salty ham taste like my grandma used to make.
- 21:00And so yeah, that and and they and just and just let them know
- 21:04that you're going to plagiarize it and not let anybody know that
- 21:06it's. Not yes.
- 21:07I'd do it. Yes, but the ham gravy wasn't
- 21:10the only thing causing problems on Christmas in my household.
- 21:14There, of course, was some drama this year.
- 21:17It was provided by my mom, so I'll tell you the story.
- 21:22So she usually makes things for the kids for Christmas, which
- 21:26she did that and that's fine. They all are fine with with that
- 21:30because they've grown up with it.
- 21:33But she got Matthew Benjamin and Haley Jackson and Jay this
- 21:39Doctor Phil book. She.
- 21:42Yes. And inside, no, she did.
- 21:45Oh, she did. All of them Got a copy of it.
- 21:47Right, except for me and Shaylee.
- 21:50Shaylee got Shaylee got like some cute little clown music box
- 21:53from from Etsy. She didn't get me it, but you
- 21:55know, it's basically for Jay and I and Benjamin's is for him and
- 21:59Haley. And then inside was a little
- 22:02note to each one of them. Like this is Jay's note.
- 22:07It kind of said the same similar thing.
- 22:08Like, I hope you read and know why I am so concerned about the
- 22:12future of our country. And she said that she said that
- 22:17as like as the kids are opening this and being like, what the
- 22:21fuck, you know, she said that kind of like, I'm worried about
- 22:26the future of our country and want you to read this with it
- 22:29open my but it was in that tone. It was in that tone that I know
- 22:36all too well. It's it's hard to explain unless
- 22:39you've like lived it as the child.
- 22:42It's kind of like that, like I'm right, don't question, you know,
- 22:47like I'm going to prove to you that my opinion is right.
- 22:51It's I don't know, it's a specific tone that like sets me
- 22:55off because I know it. But a little I'll give you like
- 23:00a little back story of something that happened over the summer.
- 23:03So she had sent a text to one of the kids saying like, I feel
- 23:08you're pulling away from me, which in reality, like nothing
- 23:13had been different in their relationship.
- 23:15So I don't know why she just spontaneously sent this text to
- 23:20one of the kids. And so the kid, when my kids was
- 23:25like, well, but they decided that they were going to tell her
- 23:29how they felt about all the stuff she had been sharing and
- 23:32posting on Facebook that they did not agree with or like,
- 23:36which we've mentioned before, you are free to express what you
- 23:41feel or your opinion, but that's going to have some consequences
- 23:44that come with it. I mean, look at, you know,
- 23:46Charlie Kirk's situation. Sure, you could say whatever you
- 23:50want, but that's not going to be it's without a consequence.
- 23:53So, but my child was surprised by the response that she sent
- 24:00back. I wasn't because it's classic
- 24:04behavior for her. So she basically doubled down on
- 24:08what she had been posting and then you know, she likes to play
- 24:13the victim, especially when you express your feeling or you
- 24:18correct her or you point out the real facts.
- 24:22So I think this kind of plays into why she maybe gave the
- 24:26books kind of like I'm right here is a validation type thing.
- 24:31I don't know. But she said, so she sells
- 24:35things at bazaars. She makes things and sells them
- 24:37at bazaars, and she said that there was a lady at the bazaar
- 24:41that was selling all these books because there's like, 4 right
- 24:44there that she bought. And I'm thinking, well, yeah,
- 24:46like Doctor Phil's like, bankrupt, you know, like, of
- 24:49course, like she's selling all. These damn books, it's.
- 24:54Like, of course, she's selling all.
- 24:57Nobody wants to buy these books. I mean, and my kids were raised
- 25:01right and to be polite. And so they couldn't say
- 25:05anything because like, Jay's family is there, you know, you
- 25:08know, they just kind of had to basically like take it,
- 25:12especially when she was like, I. Want you to read this with?
- 25:15You know, in her weird, I don't know, voice or whatever she was
- 25:19trying to do and she could have given it to them yet separate
- 25:24from their Christmas gifts and not that Christmas in front of
- 25:28everyone if that's what she wanted to do.
- 25:32I don't it just, I don't know. And it really upset my kids, I
- 25:37think because they wouldn't do something like that to her.
- 25:42I think, you know, like, right, even if they think they're right
- 25:47and she's in in the wrong or whatever it might be, they still
- 25:50wouldn't do that to her. And so I think they were taken
- 25:55aback by that. I which still, I think nothing
- 25:59really surprises them with her to some degree, but I which my
- 26:06friends and I were discussing this and they asked me how I
- 26:10felt about it and I said well I it's not me I feel I feel sad
- 26:16for my kids because in her doing all of this she is eroding all
- 26:21the happy and fun memories that they have with her growing up.
- 26:25And so I feel sad for them that she is basically taking that
- 26:31away from them or destroying that, however you want to look
- 26:33at it like this. This is what they're going to
- 26:35remember in the end. You know, she only has so many
- 26:39years left and this is what they're going to remember her
- 26:43by. And so I don't.
- 26:45I almost, I almost feel like, like it's given an atheist a
- 26:49Bible on Christmas. I mean, that's, that's what I
- 26:53feel like. Well.
- 26:54You're going to hell. Let's see you or.
- 26:57Or I, you know, I, I have, I have some Mormon friends and
- 27:00they've always tried to give me the Book of Mormon, which is
- 27:02very nice, very polite. But think of that.
- 27:04Oh, they're giving it to me for Christmas.
- 27:06What you know, or, and then put a note and I hope you find your
- 27:09way. What?
- 27:11Which here's so here's to the extreme that she'll go to be
- 27:15right. So this happened when Trump ran
- 27:19for president the first time and won.
- 27:21And my son Matthew messaged her on Facebook and was like, hey, I
- 27:26just want to know. I just kind of want to get like,
- 27:28why you voted for Trump when he cheated on every single one of
- 27:33his wives? You know, he's based.
- 27:35Why? Why do you think that's OK?
- 27:38And she in trying to prove that whatever she thinks or her view
- 27:44is correct or to defend it, I don't know, she brought up the
- 27:48fact that their grandpa, my dad had cheated on her when they
- 27:53were married. And keep in mind he had just
- 27:56died like 3 months before this. That was her defense.
- 28:02Like, Oh well, your grandpa cheated on me when we were
- 28:06married and I got over it. That was her defense, yes.
- 28:09So keep in mind, this is the extent that she will go to to
- 28:14prove that she whatever it is, she's right.
- 28:18I don't. But I mean so that obviously.
- 28:21I was so Matthew sent me a screenshot of that and I was
- 28:26livid. So you so they opened it, their
- 28:31present. You weren't in the same spot
- 28:32when they opened those? No, we were.
- 28:34All at Christmas when they opened the Doctor Phil books.
- 28:38Like all. Of us.
- 28:38So they're sitting there and they go here, kids.
- 28:40And then like, holy shit, Doctor Phil.
- 28:43Yeah, and like, again, like, there's like Jay's family, some
- 28:47of his family is there. So that's why they couldn't be
- 28:49rude. But they were clearly upset by
- 28:52it. And I think especially like what
- 28:55she said a little note that she, you know, again, she could have
- 28:59just pulled them aside and given it to them separate from their
- 29:01Christmas stuff and been like, hey, I think you should read the
- 29:04you. Know what she wanted to say, so
- 29:06this was their present. This is part of it.
- 29:09And then she always makes them stuff.
- 29:11So oh, that's pajama bottoms, whatever it is.
- 29:14So I see what I see what you're saying.
- 29:15But it's mixed in with that. So the book was in with whatever
- 29:19she had made them when they opened it.
- 29:21So it's their gift in total. It's sitting right there.
- 29:25I get it. You know, it's like, yeah, what?
- 29:27I mean, yeah, I mean that. I mean, we call that usually we
- 29:30call that tone deaf. It's a lot of things.
- 29:35So, yeah, I mean, in those situations, you're polite and
- 29:37you say, oh, thank you, thank you, grandma.
- 29:39You know, I'm going to, I'm going to use it for kindling
- 29:41later. But it's great.
- 29:42Thanks. Right.
- 29:43And I didn't know that there was notes in them because they just
- 29:46kind of opened and were like, oh, yeah, thank you.
- 29:48You know, like what you just said.
- 29:49And so Jackson, like, on the sly, like, slipped me his note
- 29:53because again, they're not going to be rude and point stuff out
- 29:57in front of everyone else. But they wanted me to know like,
- 30:01oh, there's more to it than just this.
- 30:03So I can read this now. Oh.
- 30:06Wow. And I'm just sitting there like,
- 30:07Oh my God. Look, I wanted to say something,
- 30:10but again, there's other family members there, which they
- 30:14probably would have been fine with, but right, I'm not going
- 30:18to do that at Christmas, but I don't.
- 30:22Know so did you talk to your mom or did you just like just I?
- 30:25Have to talk to her in person because I can't just text her
- 30:29because she will double down or she'll defend whatever.
- 30:33So it has to be in person and I haven't really seen her.
- 30:37I don't. Really want to be her.
- 30:38That's going to be a fun time. Yeah, she'll just be.
- 30:42Do you run the risk? Do you run the risk of like, oh
- 30:45fine, I just will never come over again?
- 30:48Possibly, but I mean, again, we house her in the place that she
- 30:54lives. So I don't I don't know.
- 30:59I don't know. I don't I don't think the kids
- 31:02would be super sad if she if she was like, I'm not going to come
- 31:06over, especially now. They might have been before, but
- 31:10now they probably just be like well she made her choice or and.
- 31:15I agree with that. I think.
- 31:16I think they're just that, you know, I mean, that that's a sad
- 31:20bridge. I mean, that's it.
- 31:22You know, it's one of those things where in this current
- 31:25state of, you know, where we're at politically, I've just
- 31:28decided to keep my mouth shut because it's not worth it to get
- 31:31into any conversations with the Colts.
- 31:35It is not worth it. It's not worth my time on my
- 31:37Facebook. You notice my Facebook doesn't
- 31:38have any of that anymore. It's not, you know, I mean what
- 31:41I think, what I think, you know, of what's going on right now.
- 31:45I know that it only concerns people that are like minded like
- 31:49myself. So to go on with our like 3000
- 31:52fans or friends or whatever and go here.
- 31:54I, I just, I mean it just, but for me, there's just, it's a
- 31:58battle you're never going to win.
- 31:59Right, which we've discussed. You're not going to change
- 32:01people's opinions. I, we, we can.
- 32:04I'm just sharing whatever on your social media is right.
- 32:07We can disagree, you know, but I also look at it like you already
- 32:11know how I feel. Like if you know anything about
- 32:14me personally, you know where I stand on stuff.
- 32:17You know where I stand on, you know, gay marriage.
- 32:20You know where I stand on abortion.
- 32:21You know where I stand. And and I also, as it should be
- 32:25obvious just by how I act, it should it should not, should not
- 32:30come as a surprise. It should not come as a
- 32:32surprise. I mean, it's not there's.
- 32:33Also that you can't just let people keep doing this, you
- 32:38know? Well, it's.
- 32:39It's yeah, I just. You have to find that balance
- 32:42and to keep yourself sane and boundaries for yourself.
- 32:47So you have to figure out where that is.
- 32:49And if you want a relationship like like we've talked about
- 32:52this before, Logan is really way further away than than I am, you
- 32:57know, and I, I'm trying to understand, I'm trying to
- 33:01understand and I there's a lot I don't understand, right.
- 33:05And we're, and we're definitely, we're definitely two different
- 33:07generations. I like the fact that at least
- 33:10there's some common thread for him and I, you know, but I
- 33:14always love it when he sends me a text goes Dad, don't talk
- 33:16about politics, dad, not because not because he and I don't agree
- 33:22on a lot of things. It's because I don't think he
- 33:24thinks I'm radical enough or I'm not as extreme in those views as
- 33:28he is. And so, and, and like I said, I
- 33:33always, I always talk to him like, Hey, if I could solve the
- 33:35problems of the world, I would, But I, I can't solve those.
- 33:38But there are ways you can solve some problems.
- 33:41You can run for office. I mean, if you want to do all
- 33:43these things, you're more than capable of doing those things,
- 33:47but you're gonna have to put yourself out there and that and
- 33:49a lot of people I agree don't want to do that.
- 33:51So how would? That.
- 33:52Be an interesting conversation with your with your mom.
- 33:54So, yeah, and. When it happens, I'll be sure to
- 33:57let you know because I'm sure I'm going to want to talk about
- 33:59it so. Yeah, boy, how do you?
- 34:02How do you approach that subject?
- 34:04I will. I mean, I will tell her look.
- 34:07Hey, that's not appropriate. Right, you upset the kids were
- 34:10upset by the Doctor Phil book in with their Christmas gifts and
- 34:16if you wanted to give it to them, you could have done it
- 34:18separately and separate from Christmas.
- 34:21Matthew was here for right over a week so she had plenty of
- 34:26time. Jackson was hope for two weeks,
- 34:28so she had plenty of time to come over separate from
- 34:31Christmas if she wanted to so. It's like sliding in Mein Kampf
- 34:34or whatever. Something like what you know,
- 34:36communist Mephisto What the what the Karl Marx, what I got you a
- 34:40great book from Karl Marx. You know, communism.
- 34:43This is what I got you, mom. How do you think Logan would
- 34:46receive like? Oh, he'd love.
- 34:48It getting Oh yeah, he would love receive getting Doctor
- 34:50Phil. No, no, no not no.
- 34:53I'm talking the Communist 1 he would love.
- 34:55Well, yeah, I know the Communist 1 he would love, but he'd.
- 34:57Be all about that, but it's like but you like but like you said,
- 35:00what if what if what if grandma got Bernie Sanders book?
- 35:02Yes, well, that, I mean, that was the joke after when we were
- 35:07all talking and that was just talking stuff.
- 35:08I'm gonna get her like Kamala Harris's book next year or
- 35:12Hillary Clinton. Any of those.
- 35:14But yeah, she'll hate any of it. Barack Obama, You name it.
- 35:17Yeah, and Matthew's like, and I'm going to tell her I want you
- 35:20to read this book because I'm worried about the fate of the
- 35:24world. Right, right.
- 35:25Exactly. Here's Bernie Sanders and and
- 35:28The funny thing about Bernie Sanders, which you got to give
- 35:30Bernie credit because I've seen videos of Bernie from 1982.
- 35:34He is the same principled, yes. Why?
- 35:38Even in 1982 with brown hair, he's like the 1%.
- 35:44He, he, you know, he's got his talking points, you know, Bernie
- 35:48Bro, Bernie Bros. But yeah.
- 35:50So that would have been funny if now you'd go drop off a, you
- 35:53know, Kamala Harris book for like, oh, she'd be like, but I
- 35:58don't get would she, I guess, would she take the joke or would
- 36:00she, would she be offended? See, I think she'd be offended.
- 36:03Of course she would. She would not see it as the same
- 36:06thing. Right, right, right.
- 36:07To her, it's OK to give you a Doctor Phil book, but if you go
- 36:09give her a Kamala Harris book, it's like what?
- 36:11You know? How dare you?
- 36:13So right, right. Wow, I should do that for her
- 36:16birthday. Normally I get her a gift
- 36:18certificate to wear whatever she wants for her birthday, you
- 36:22know, and it's a good, it's $100 plus whatever.
- 36:25So I should just get her a book instead and that be it for her
- 36:29Like birthday gift and. Say hey mom I was driving along
- 36:32Yakima Ave. I saw this guy in the back with
- 36:34truck sell and Bernie Sanders books and thought you'd love 1
- 36:36so it was discounted. It's like 5 bucks but that just
- 36:40nothing shows love then my opinion right?
- 36:43Or my concern for the fate of the world.
- 36:45And I want you to read this so you can open mind.
- 36:49So you got over that hump? Yes.
- 36:51OK, So what? Anything else that happened?
- 36:54Other than that, it was good. Jay's big holiday family party
- 36:59went fine. We had it.
- 37:00Normally we would have it at our house and we are outgrowing our
- 37:04house with the amount of family members that he has.
- 37:07And so we had it at the Sila Civic Center and that actually
- 37:10went well. So yeah, yeah, that was good.
- 37:13No drama. Usually that's the party that
- 37:15has the drama. That has the.
- 37:16Drama. The drama.
- 37:17Yeah, it's my family. So what?
- 37:19What did Jay get you? We don't.
- 37:22Remember, we don't just stocking.
- 37:24I just got my stocking stuffer stuff which is stuff that was on
- 37:27my list just like May and stuff that was on my list.
- 37:30So you got gift cards and different things like that?
- 37:32Yeah, like my dry shampoo and that kind of stuff, all the
- 37:35stuff that I use my perfume. So there was not, not a big
- 37:39surprise like like, like, oh, here's Disneyland or some crazy.
- 37:43No, but I mean we are going to Disneyland.
- 37:46I know, I know, I know. You got you guys live a whole
- 37:49different lifestyle than the old Rickster.
- 37:51I mean, totally. I mean, I get.
- 37:53I get it. Yeah.
- 37:55Yeah. To me, it's like for me, those
- 37:57are the the the, you know, the those are wrapped into presents
- 38:00for what I. Do the trips are the presents?
- 38:04Well, like the you try, so it's yeah, so I, I so it was good
- 38:09then. Yeah.
- 38:10I mean, yeah, it was good. I just love having all the kids
- 38:14home. Like, I love that Matthew still
- 38:17wants to come home. I mean, I'm sure sometimes he
- 38:19doesn't necessarily want to. He was dreading like this whole
- 38:23drama with the TSA, the flights, and luckily that kind of got
- 38:28sorted out before Christmas, but.
- 38:31He. Came home.
- 38:32So I just like the fact that they all still come home and
- 38:35they like to be here and so I just like having them here.
- 38:39It doesn't matter like what I get or what we do.
- 38:41It's just that we're all together, which he got me
- 38:44started watching that show on Apple TV.
- 38:47Pluberis is what it's called. He started watching it and then
- 38:51I got sucked into it and it's pretty good.
- 38:55The premise is it's not really aliens, but it kind of is
- 38:59because it comes from space. But it's not like the typical
- 39:02like aliens like invade Earth to kill us kind of.
- 39:06It's really like, I really like the premise of it.
- 39:09So you have to go watch it. I can't really, if I explain it
- 39:13too much, it's going to give a lot of it away.
- 39:15But basically there's only like a few people, I think 12 or 13
- 39:21in the world that is not affected by this like virus
- 39:25basically that turns all of us into this little worker humans
- 39:32that all kind of function together.
- 39:34And so those like 12-13 people, it's kind of showing how they
- 39:38are navigating the world and trying to figure everything out.
- 39:41And yeah, it's interesting. So that's.
- 39:44Cool, that's cool. That's just cool that if you
- 39:45like. That kind of stuff.
- 39:47Yeah, just cool to have all the kids back for Logan.
- 39:49I sent him cash. He was very grateful.
- 39:51He is, he is very grateful. He always sends a nice little
- 39:54text back saying thank you so much.
- 39:55And he's not. He's never been ungrateful,
- 39:57which was nice. And so, so for me, it's like
- 40:00Kyron gets cash and Logan gets cash And and I always wonder if
- 40:05I'm sending enough money. Like I don't know what I don't
- 40:09know what a good, what's a good, what's a good level of cash.
- 40:13So right now, right now, the boys.
- 40:15The boys, they're adults. They're they're adults.
- 40:16They're getting 150 bucks. That's pretty decent.
- 40:20Is that OK? Yeah, I keep thinking, I was
- 40:22going to say ours range anywhere from like 100 to 200 depending
- 40:26on. All right.
- 40:27So that's what it is like birthday graduations a little
- 40:30bit more. Yeah, you know, Yeah, that's.
- 40:31Kind of where I'm yeah, OK, so I I OK, because I was asking like,
- 40:34well, is that enough? And then I mean, if someone
- 40:36gives me 150 bucks, I'd love it. But rate.
- 40:38Yeah, but but. That's different.
- 40:42I don't know, I don't know what they all like with the with the
- 40:44current rate of inflation and how crazy it is, you know, I
- 40:47mean, it's like, but but yeah, it's it's kind of cool that we
- 40:52had, we had Kyron and then we have his new girlfriend.
- 40:55And and so they were, they were here, but it was really quiet
- 40:58for us and it was just nice, you know, quite peaceful.
- 41:02Barkley. Barkley has a new caller that
- 41:05says, sadly, deaf dog. So he's got a, he's got a got a
- 41:10collar that says, you know, that he's deaf.
- 41:13So but and then Bodie got some new, he got a new dish, a couple
- 41:18different things like that. So yeah.
- 41:20The cats got a new toy that they love.
- 41:23Yeah, I wish we got a bought it earlier.
- 41:25We got the, we got the, the carpet that has the dogs that
- 41:27are hilarious. You know that they're, they're
- 41:29caricatures, which that was that was not on Megan's list.
- 41:32So she thought that was pretty funny.
- 41:34So little things like that again, I was still someday.
- 41:39Oh, I would love to, to impress her someday, but I'm trying to,
- 41:44oh, we got to, I just, I got to catch back up with her.
- 41:47So it was funny. We we did on the radio show.
- 41:51We did that. We do this thing called other
- 41:52people's problems. And I think we used to do this
- 41:55like your daily dilemma or those kind of things, right.
- 42:00And so and so we've got so I think one of the things was
- 42:07about flirting with a Co worker. So this woman started the second
- 42:12job. She flirted with her Co worker.
- 42:14She's married, but nothing like nothing happened.
- 42:16Nothing happened, right? But but but they still text.
- 42:20And so and so and that was the kind of the premise of it.
- 42:23So I'd gotten to the conversation with Patty about
- 42:25the fact that my wife has a group of friends, Kelsey, Eric,
- 42:30whoever from the gym that she sends, you know, memes and
- 42:33different things. But she never sends me any of
- 42:35these things. So I now, now I did build.
- 42:39I will, I'll clarify. I built the story into more than
- 42:43what it probably was. Of course, because she says all
- 42:46she goes, I'm sending them poop jokes.
- 42:47I'm sending them fart jokes, which I can't stand.
- 42:49You already know I don't like the Jersey boys.
- 42:53I don't like ACD with people shit.
- 42:55And I don't know why people think it's funny.
- 42:57They think it's funny. I'm not 12.
- 42:59I just even as a kid, I never liked that kind of humor.
- 43:01So that's the kind of stuff she says she's sending them, but I
- 43:04kind of alluded to the fact, well, she's sending them
- 43:06inappropriate, inappropriate, you know, sexy time things and,
- 43:12and well, she doesn't send it to her husband, right.
- 43:14And then I talked about, and then I talked about what she was
- 43:17like, she goes, you called me fuddy Duddy.
- 43:19I said, what do you mean? She goes, you called me a fuddy
- 43:21Duddy. And I had said, I had said that
- 43:24my wife had gone to 50 Shades of Grey.
- 43:28Now as a man, I'm like, oh, great.
- 43:30OK, so she's going to come home tonight and it's on like Donkey
- 43:33Kong. Right.
- 43:34Or Magic Mike, if we or when? We whatever, whatever, my wife
- 43:38come home. My wife comes home and goes to
- 43:40bed like there's like and and and and and to the point where
- 43:44her back's to me and she's covered up, you know, like.
- 43:47Damn, like. You ain't you.
- 43:49Ain't I'm going to sleep? Don't.
- 43:51Right? Don't.
- 43:51Don't touch me. And so I talked a bit on the
- 43:53radio today and I said my wife's a funny daddy because I
- 43:56expected, Hey, you're coming from dirty, you know, 50 Shades
- 43:58of grey. You don't want to try some of
- 44:00this stuff. Not my wife.
- 44:01So anyway, so she actually, she normally, I've never seen her
- 44:05really take offense or like, but she was like you.
- 44:09She was offended by the fact that you called her funny Duddy,
- 44:12but she didn't care about the text message thing.
- 44:14Is that what you're saying? Well, she said, she said she she
- 44:17goes, hey, I'm going to send you all the the fart and poop jokes
- 44:20now, just because just because you mentioned it, you know, but
- 44:24you know, but it was one of those things where it yeah, she
- 44:27just, yeah, it was funny how she took that like you call me a
- 44:30funny dud. I'm like, well, I mean, but hey,
- 44:36hey, to defend myself, come on, be honest.
- 44:39Most women who went and saw that movie went home to their
- 44:41husbands and probably that's fun.
- 44:44That's all I'm saying, you know, that's all I'm saying.
- 44:46And, and my wife can go watch those kind of movies and it
- 44:50does. Not be affected.
- 44:52There are some people like that, Not everyone is.
- 44:55Nope. Like Nope, not interested so,
- 44:59but it was funny because this is for the first time she actually
- 45:02seemed visibly moved like she. Was like some kind of reaction,
- 45:06I don't know if. It was a good reaction, but it
- 45:10but it was she was like she yeah, she was not.
- 45:13She was not. Now she knows that when I do the
- 45:16radio show and I, I will be as honest and truthful as possible.
- 45:20I do exaggerate stories to make them.
- 45:22I always say I exaggerate. Stories to make them we have.
- 45:26To to make them unusual or make them fun.
- 45:28So. But this one particular one she
- 45:30did. Not like being called a fuddy
- 45:32daddy. I know.
- 45:33So I'm like, OK, going forward, fuddy daddy going to have to put
- 45:36that, put that, put that in, put that in the file, right.
- 45:39So but it was just it was just a funny experience.
- 45:43It happened today too. It just made me laugh when it
- 45:46was, you know, I was like, oh, geez.
- 45:48But so, yeah, we had had a great holiday.
- 45:51I was going to tell you also, and I'm not going to do it.
- 45:55But for those I know that one person said don't ever talk
- 45:58about Richard Page again. I get it.
- 46:00But really, really I didn't. Say don't ever.
- 46:03They just said you. You are like stalker.
- 46:06He's my man crush. He's my man crush.
- 46:08So, So here's the crazy thing, and I didn't do it, is Richard
- 46:11Page is playing at some 80s experience and we've talked
- 46:14about the fact he doesn't tour, he doesn't do any of these
- 46:17things, but he's going to be in in Atlanta this weekend again.
- 46:20He's going to be. I almost bought a ticket to go
- 46:22to Atlanta, GA Yeah, it's an 80s experience.
- 46:24He's kind of opening for something or doing something now
- 46:28for me. Now here's the really is the two
- 46:30big hits are Broken Wings and Curie, right?
- 46:31Right. Which I've seen him perform that
- 46:34at Ringo Starr. I mean, I've seen him multiple
- 46:36times do those songs. I would have been more
- 46:39interested in going to the show if I heard other songs I've
- 46:42never heard and perform live. So he went.
- 46:46So one time he went to Ontario and he did his show and he did
- 46:49like 7 songs and I'm like OK, I want to go see that.
- 46:53Show. I want to go see that show
- 46:55because I'm not going to just hear broken wings and Curiae,
- 46:57which are the two big, you know, he's had other hit or other
- 47:00songs. So it's so I don't.
- 47:02So I to my mind, I was like, well, I don't know if I'm I'm
- 47:04not guaranteed that he's going to do the other Mr. Mr. songs
- 47:09that I want to hear. Now the cool thing if you're if
- 47:12you are a fan, which I am is if you go to YouTube quick plug for
- 47:16these guys, they did reunite all four reunited in September and
- 47:21they did brand new videos of broken wings Curie and is it
- 47:24love live. So you can go check it out on
- 47:28YouTube and broken wings already has over 1,000,000 views
- 47:31already. Oh, nice of them reunited
- 47:33because remember I said they they have not performed together
- 47:35in 40 years. Great.
- 47:37And so they got the band back together for a one time.
- 47:41Here's some live, here's some live stuff.
- 47:42And I'm like, I'm like Jones. And I'm like, I'm like, I'm
- 47:47like, yeah, I was like, I'm like a kid on Mountain Dew.
- 47:50I'm like. But now we're now, if he does
- 47:52perform other songs, are you going to be kicking yourself
- 47:54like, oh. But I thought to myself, if he
- 47:57does, it'll show up on YouTube because someone will be at the
- 47:59concert and probably take right because because the you know,
- 48:02the one out of Canada that he did they I only saw little
- 48:05clips, just little clips and I can't find him anymore.
- 48:08So yes, I will be disappointed if the the setlist is more than
- 48:12the the big hits because you know, but and I thought but then
- 48:17I but here's the deal. I don't have my real ID yet.
- 48:20Oh. So I know and you can't go.
- 48:23You can fly, but it's a hassle. Right.
- 48:25And don't you have to pay some? You've got to pay, you got to
- 48:28pay a fee, you got to you got to come out extra early to make
- 48:31sure that you are. That you right.
- 48:34And I thought to myself, maybe if I get lucky, you'll do
- 48:37something on the West Coast on, you know, it's a rarity that he
- 48:39does anything. It is a rarity that he does
- 48:41anything. Yeah, but but also, I mean, I
- 48:44have as you, as we joke, I've met him multiple, you know,
- 48:49multiple times and gone backstage and he knows who I am.
- 48:53I could e-mail. He knows.
- 48:54Who you are he? Knows who I am so but I did want
- 48:57to get a quick plug in from a boy RP and those Mr. Mr. videos
- 49:01which are absolutely the coolest.
- 49:04That's so nice of you. It was, it was.
- 49:07I mean, they may never. They may never to her again.
- 49:09Right now I'm thinking about taking Logan to Toto Christopher
- 49:13Cross and the Romantics. But it would have, but it would
- 49:17have been the most, most amazing dream if it was like Toto,
- 49:20Christopher Cross and Mr. Mr. Right, all all day long.
- 49:27Yeah. And they would be perfect for
- 49:28that. I don't know, you know, but
- 49:29they, they, they, you know, again, they said they're not
- 49:31going to tour, but, you know, so there you go, my little quick,
- 49:35you know, plug. Sorry, won't bring it up again.
- 49:39You're mine. It's OK.
- 49:40Well, we could have done today on the The Coming Back podcast.
- 49:43We could have dived into all of the craziness in the world and I
- 49:46thought we should keep it up upbeat and bright and.
- 49:49Wow, this is basically catching up on we were gone for two
- 49:52weeks. So which I did catch up on
- 49:55shows. Well some of them, not all of
- 49:57them. During our break, I did watch
- 50:00the Stranger Thing finale. OK.
- 50:04And that's an A. Is that an A+?
- 50:06I mean, it was OK. I mean, it was they wrapped it
- 50:09up the best that they could. At least it wasn't what
- 50:12everybody was speculating that it was going to be them just
- 50:15playing AD and D campaign. That.
- 50:19Was the rumor and I was like I like it better not end like that
- 50:24and it didn't. You know, autistic kid or
- 50:27whatever. Like what?
- 50:28It's a fan. Right, yes.
- 50:30So it did not end that way. So again, I think they wrapped
- 50:34it up the best that they could. I also did watch the latest
- 50:40season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives I love.
- 50:43That show. I love the drama, so I finally
- 50:46got caught up on that I. Watched Christians, man, what
- 50:49the heck? They're Mormons.
- 50:52Well, they're Mormons. Kind of the same thing.
- 50:54Not really. I mean, kind of.
- 50:55I know, I know there's, I know there's all the different, you
- 50:58know, it's like. Yeah, I just, I just love all
- 51:01the drama. I love the Real Housewives
- 51:05franchises so. Yeah, I, I.
- 51:07Don't. It's just like a more high
- 51:09schoolish version of that basically.
- 51:11And then the girls are younger, so and I did catch up on Nobody
- 51:16wants this. That's the one with Kristen
- 51:18Bell. I love that one.
- 51:20Yeah, I've seen the second season, but I love the first
- 51:22season. I watched the second season.
- 51:24I have not watched the Eddie Murphy documentary.
- 51:26I did want to watch that, so that's on my list of things to
- 51:32watch. And again, I watch that
- 51:33Pluberous with Matthew. It's on Apple TV, so you have to
- 51:38go watch it. It's pretty good.
- 51:39So yeah, I like it. Did you watch anything or catch
- 51:42up? On anything I did well, I watch
- 51:44a lot, but I don't watch anything that anybody cares
- 51:46about. I mean so 'cause so I took.
- 51:48Page videos on YouTube. No no, so I'm an 85 year old
- 51:52man. If you're just curious when it
- 51:53comes to my TVI like nostalgia TV.
- 51:56So so to me, I'm enjoying Elsbeth Matlock, that new show
- 52:01called High Potential, where she is the genius.
- 52:05Oh yes, she's also in hacks. Yeah, I love her.
- 52:08Daughter, I love hacks. I've seen hacks.
- 52:09I like hacks. So I like that.
- 52:13So I like, I like those like crime procedurals.
- 52:17Or I did watch Knives Out the the newest movie that came out.
- 52:21So I'm really big into the murder mystery.
- 52:24Kind of I mean little things like that or I and I'm a dude.
- 52:27So I like action. So I'll watch old 18 episodes
- 52:30and you know, Magnum Pi or guys are so it's like I'm.
- 52:33An. I'm an 80s kid, you know that
- 52:37I'm. Kind of I'm like late 80s, early
- 52:4090s. I mean, by the time I was old
- 52:42enough to start remembering things, it was, you know, mid to
- 52:45late 80s. So like 85 on SO.
- 52:49Right. So, so, yeah, so I so I know
- 52:52like, oh, the movie, I like Nancy and Cillian, so the
- 52:54rookie, the TV show, the rookie. So I like just different things,
- 52:58like different things like that. I do not like, I know we talked
- 53:02about this. I don't like horror movies.
- 53:03So horror has never been mine. I mean, I did enjoy the Scream
- 53:07movies, you know, because I think that that's like, sloppy.
- 53:13Right, it's making fun of. Right, right.
- 53:17And you're always like, oh, here comes the like, you're like,
- 53:19here comes the twist. It's like you can almost those
- 53:22are fun to watch because you know what's happening.
- 53:24But for me, not not watching the strangers or saw or where
- 53:28they're disembowing people, just not not going to not going to be
- 53:33something I'm going to watch. And then you already know and
- 53:35I'll I'll even gladly admit it. I do love ROM coms so there's.
- 53:40A great. I mean, if you watch and nobody
- 53:41wants this, then yeah, you do. Like that's a wrong call, but it
- 53:44does Netflix. Netflix also had a cute movie
- 53:47for Christmas where the woman dressed like Santa Claus.
- 53:51It's called, it's called like being Santa or something like
- 53:54that. But it's a woman who's Santa.
- 53:56So it's a it's Mrs. Doubtfire, but as a Santa.
- 53:59So it was kind of a cute. It was kind of cute.
- 54:01It's a cute premise. Like it's something like
- 54:03different, yeah. Yeah, for me, it's one of those
- 54:07things where I feel like I need escapism more and more in this
- 54:12day and age. And so I don't need things.
- 54:14I don't need things that make me think, I guess when I watch a TV
- 54:17show or I, I mean, I. Like the Real Housewives, it's
- 54:21mind numbing when I make when when Jay is home and he's
- 54:25forced, he's forced to watch this.
- 54:27He's like. What?
- 54:28No, he's like, this is the most mind numbing.
- 54:33This is the dumbest stuff. And and I mean, he's a trooper
- 54:37because he will sit through it with me, but I know he's just
- 54:41sitting there like, what in the hell is she watching?
- 54:44So. Crazy thing about so all the,
- 54:47all the great sitcoms are, oh, dramas.
- 54:49I, I, I go in for about a season and then I'm out.
- 54:51So a great example is Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy.
- 54:55I loved all of them when they Oh my God.
- 54:58Grey's Anatomy? Aren't they on like the 30th?
- 55:01Season 20. Five, I am an ER girl and I
- 55:04could never get into Grey's Anatomy.
- 55:07Never so so so like so for the 1st 4, Four Seasons I loved it
- 55:11and they're like, OK now I'm kind of bored with it.
- 55:13If you're an ER fan, I got to give a plug out for the pits.
- 55:17So I love, I love, I keep. Forgetting to watch it it's.
- 55:22So good. And I think a new episode, a new
- 55:24the second season is dropping like this week.
- 55:27But I love the pit. I love Noah Wiley because he
- 55:30does like the librarians. He does falling skies, he does
- 55:35leverage, I mean things that I like to watch, but the Pit is
- 55:38absolutely fantastic. So add that to your list.
- 55:41I will I mean my list. Just keeps crazy and again, and
- 55:44but even going for the ER, it's like I love the first few
- 55:47seasons of ER, but then when you start mixing in other people and
- 55:51like, I don't know who these, you know, it's like The Walking
- 55:53Dead. I love The Walking Dead until
- 55:56until Rick walked off and I'm like, well, there goes my guy.
- 55:58I'm done because Rick was my character.
- 56:02I mean. Once ER got rid of George
- 56:04Clooney, it was like all downhill.
- 56:06Oh, you were out. You were out.
- 56:07So yeah, I mean, I like Noah Wiley, I guess is a great, I
- 56:11mean I do like him. So he was he was on the entire
- 56:1320 plus years that ER was on. But yeah, I did hear that The
- 56:17Pit is like the most realistic medical show ever.
- 56:21They'll show your junk. I mean, I mean, they're like,
- 56:24no, I'm serious. Because it's on HBO, so.
- 56:26They it is on HBO and it literally shows that if the leg
- 56:28is gnarled or if they're if gals give it birth, you're seeing
- 56:33you're like you're seeing that shit come out like what?
- 56:36What am I watching? Yeah, they show.
- 56:39It. Yeah, so there you'll like it.
- 56:42So happy viewing. Yeah, yeah.
- 56:44OK. Yeah, I'll definitely make sure
- 56:47I watch it now. All right.
- 56:52We are getting close to being out of time.
- 56:55Yeah, welcome back. There were some other things I
- 56:58wanted to discuss but of. Course we never get to them.
- 57:00We never get. To them we never do look.
- 57:02At the next comic, can Rick just shut up?
- 57:05Well, I did want to talk. I'll just briefly touch on this.
- 57:07So, you know, CES is going on in Las Vegas right now and they
- 57:11just, they just unveiled a robot who folds the laundry.
- 57:16Oh, now you're now. You're.
- 57:17I don't know why it took them so long to figure this out that
- 57:20this is what we want, a robot to fold the laundry.
- 57:24That's what AI should be doing, right?
- 57:26Yes, yes, definitely. So then I was thinking, well,
- 57:29what else would I want this robot to do?
- 57:32The dishes? Because we've talked about my
- 57:34childhood trauma with the sink being full of dishes.
- 57:37So definitely I would want my robot to do the dishes.
- 57:41Dishes. What about you?
- 57:42What would you want your robot to do your.
- 57:44AI like every male SEX. How did I know that was coming?
- 57:52Would. You even ask that question
- 57:53every. I'm sorry, you know, it's like,
- 57:56you know, I can't do it myself. I'm going to leave it with.
- 58:01I'll leave it with that. You can.
- 58:04Only Sting can do it himself only.
- 58:07Sting, I don't think. Anybody else can do it
- 58:08themselves. Yeah, that's a whole another
- 58:10weird. We could discuss I.
- 58:13Think I'm ready. I think I yeah, that's a, that's
- 58:16a mic drop. Yeah.
- 58:18We'll, we'll just, we'll end with that.
- 58:22That's it for today's episode of Rick and That Michelle.
- 58:25Check. Thanks for hanging out with us.
