- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Hello, everyone.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to another episode of Truth Be Told.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: My name is Mickey.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: I am your host.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: And today joining me is my co-host, Bethany, and we are here to tell you the truth.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: And where does the truth come from exactly?
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Well, we get the truth from the Word of God.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: We like to get into the scripture and dive through it and then share it with you all.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: So today we have a lot going on.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: We've been talking about prayer the last couple of weeks and how important prayer is, and how we there's so many scriptures around the word prayer that we are wanting to just get the truth to you guys so that way you guys can get more powerful in your prayer lives.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: And I think that prayer is so important that people need to understand that that is our communication.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: That is one way we get to have a relationship and communicate with God.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: And so today, Bethany has a lot to share with you today, but I'm going to let her say hello and recap from what we talked about last week.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: So, Bethany, welcome back and thank you for joining me.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Great to be here.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Now, as we recap from our last episode, we were talking about um just the benefits to prayer and how um those are important.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: And we talked about, we started out with Psalm 103, verse 2, which says, Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not his benefits, and how important that is to really understand, you know, we do need to start our prayers with verbally thanking God for what he does, and how important that is not only for his recognition, but for our mindsets.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: I mean, how often do we forget things?
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: And so verbally thanking God for things is vital, I believe.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: And so that was our last episode.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: So if you missed that episode, I would encourage you to go back and listen to that um at your convenience.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: But today we have another um episode that we'll talk about how to pray.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: We'll talk about how to effectively pray.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: And so looking forward to that.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: Um and Mickey, if you have anything now to share, otherwise I can start us off in prayer.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Yep, today we're going to be talking in James, so we're going to be talking about um what and how to pray.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Like um Bethany said, last week we talked about being thankful for prayer, for what to pray for and all of the benefits.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: And I thought last week's episode was so amazing because, like I said, you shined a light bulb last week for um me thinking about all of the benefits that God does give us.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: And sometimes we forget about those benefits.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: And we need to be thankful for that.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: And so I'm really excited about diving in today and learning about you know, getting getting deeper into you know what to pray for and how to pray for it, like how to do it to where it's effective.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: So I'm really excited about that.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: But yes, would you please um pray us in so we can like let's get going.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: I'm excited.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: All right, let's pray.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: Hey Lord, thank you so very much for this time, Lord.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: We would be foolish to do this without you.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: And so we thank you, Lord, that you're with us.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: We thank you, Lord, for speaking through us and speaking to us during this time.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: And as we talk about what and how to pray, it's important for us to understand that.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: And so we give this time to you and thank you for the lives that it will reach because of you.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: In Jesus' name, amen.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Thank you for that.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: That's that's great.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: I think that um with today's um episode and where we've come so far with talking about prayer, that um the more we learn about it, the stronger we're gonna get in our walk with the Lord.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: And also I want to encourage people to understand that when you start spending time with God and you start praying with God, God also blesses you for that.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: That's one of his other benefits that we get just by praying.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: So again, I am excited for you to to take off and and share what you have for us today.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: Yes, thank you for that.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: Now, today we're going to focus mainly in James chapter five, but I'm also going to mention a few other verses that tie into um James 5 verses 13 through 16 specifically.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: And so as we get started here, let's notice James 5 verse 13.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: Verse 13 says, Is any among you sick?
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: Is any among you afflicted?
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: Let him pray.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: Is any merry?
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: Let him sing songs.
- 7:13SPEAKER_01: But as we think about verse thirteen, is any among you afflicted?
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: Let him pray.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: Now let's notice just two examples in the Old Testament.
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: The first example is found in Second Chronicles, chapter thirty-three, and that chapter talks about a king named Manasseh.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: And you can read um Second Chronicles thirty-three for yourself, but let's notice right now verses ten through verse thirteen of that chapter, verse ten.
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: And the Lord spake to Manasseh and to his people, but they would not hear.
- 8:43SPEAKER_01: But because of our time here now, I won't pause there, but I would encourage you to consider that.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: Consider what dad said to God.
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: God was trying to get their attention.
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: But they wouldn't hear.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: And when he was in affliction, he besought the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: Verse 13, and prayed unto him, and he was entreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem and to his kingdom.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: Notice the end of verse 13.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: Then Manasseh knew that the Lord he was God.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: And again, I would encourage you to take time to really consider those verses to understand what that means for your situation.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: If you're going through affection, what are you doing?
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: Are you accepting it?
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: Are you asking God why?
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: But really to understand what God might be showing you through it.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: Now understand that affliction is different from sickness.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: And that even that is I think very profound to consider.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: That affliction essentially means hardship.
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: And so we see here from NASA what it took for him to finally acknowledge who God was to him.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: And I hope that would help you to understand God is the same today as he was then.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: And to me, that encourages me that since God hasn't changed from that time and even before that time, he's still the same today.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: And that means we can fully trust him.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: But the importance of praying when we are in affliction.
- 13:34SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: It says pray.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: And I make you, do you have any thoughts on that?
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: Well, I think it I think you nailed it when you said when you're talking about the difference between affliction and sin.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: Um sometimes when we're going through hardship, sometimes our sin can put us in affliction.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: It can cause us to be afflicted.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: And I think that's what you know where Manassas was, he was, you know, um he was struggling with that.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: But he um he sincerely, one one thing I like about his prayer is he sincerely apologized.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: And and it wasn't um it wasn't just a nonchalant, like, hey, sorry God, I messed up, pray, you know.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: He was very deeply sincere.
- 14:22SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: Um and even though he was being afflicted and he had afflictions upon him, um, it helped him to recognize that even some of his sins put him, you know, caused that affliction, if that makes sense.
- 14:34SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: Um, some things that we do in um in our life, we're gonna mess up and then we end up getting afflicted by it.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: Now we can walk around with that.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: I I like I like this part because we could walk around.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: You know how people walk around with baggage.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Um kind of like the garbage truck I was telling you about.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: They're so loud, they're picking up all this trash.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: Like imagine yourself as a garbage truck and you're carrying around all this affliction and this hurt and this pain.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: It's gonna weigh you down.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: God doesn't want us doing that.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: He literally wants us to dump the truck.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: He but he doesn't want us to dump it out on everybody else.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: Because I don't know if you've heard the expression, sometimes hurt people hurt people.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Well, we don't want to do that.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: We want to take our afflictions to God and be like, God help me through this.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: Um even if sin is what caused it, or if if someone else caused it, or if the enemy caused it, um affliction can come from different places.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: It doesn't come from just yourself, but it can come from a variety of places.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: So if when you're addressing it, you want to make sure that you're understanding them.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: The reason you're going to God is because God doesn't want you to carry this burden anymore.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: He doesn't want you to carry it around.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: And he is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: He wants you to, it doesn't matter.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Um, he wants you to take it and he wants you to give it to God.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: He wants to take it from you so that you don't carry that burden anymore.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: Does that make sense?
- 15:54SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: And I love that James says if he says it really plainly, you know, about the affliction, and then he says, if you're gonna be merry, then just you know, sing praises, you know.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: So he's telling you like what what you said in the beginning, he's telling you what to do and how to how to get through things.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: Like if you're afflicted, go right to God and pray about it.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: If you're feeling happy, joyful, and merry, then go kick a tune, you know, and start singing.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: And like David did, David danced around, you know, naked all the time, whatever, you know.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: So I mean, I love that in James, it literally specifically tells you what and how to do it during during what you're going through.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: So I love that about James.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: Yes, but go ahead.
- 16:34SPEAKER_01: Um yes, that's great.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: Now, you know, as Mickey mentioned about David, he went through his own difficulties, and there are so many verses about his life, and just to realize that he spent so much time on the run from Saul, and yet let's notice two verses that talk about his response to affliction.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: So let's notice Psalm one nineteen, verse sixty-seven.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: And this is a time when David was again on the run from Saul.
- 17:41SPEAKER_01: And notice the wording that David uses again, verse sixty-seven, Psalm 119.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: Before I was afflicted, I went astray, but now have I kept thy word.
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: So I would encourage you that if you are going through affliction right now, or if your family or friends are going through affliction, consider what David said before I was afflicted, I went astray.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: But now have I kept my word.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, one thing I want to point out about this is when he's talking about before he was afflicted, meaning um while he was running away, the afflictions that came on him were um a consequence basically to him running away.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: And so it took him being afflicted, sometimes we get afflicted before um, you know.
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: So I think honestly, when we get afflicted, it's sometimes God getting our attention.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: He's getting a hold of us.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: He's like, okay, they're not, they're they're gonna be, they're gonna take the hard way, you know, to get their attention.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: So and I think sometimes we do that.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we have to go the hard way before we actually learn a lesson.
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: So I think that's why I wanted to share that where it says before he was afflicted, because he was running, he was running, and then once he got afflicted, he realized you know, God got his attention.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: And he knew what to do once he did, you know.
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: He knew what to do.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 19:46SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, ever when we understand that every word of the Bible is there for God's purpose.
- 20:04SPEAKER_01: When we understand that every word of God is inspired by Him.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: And so when David says, like Mickey said before, I was afflicted that like I say, God knows how to get our attention.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: God knows what it's going to take.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: And so instead of us trying to get away from that, we are wise to accept it, we are wise to learn from it, just as David did here.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: And now let's notice verse seventy-one of Psalm one nineteen.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: David says it is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I might learn thy statues.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: And to me, that that is so powerful to truly understand that that he was able to say, It is good for me and I strongly believe that's where people need to be today as well to be able to understand that.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: A loving God.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: The God who created you never wants to intentionally harm you.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: He never wants to, you know, he's never up in heaven thinking of ways to destroy you or defeat you.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: His heart is to always draw you back to himself and to draw people in general to himself.
- 22:55SPEAKER_01: And it's Satan who is the one who plants those temptations to doubt or to think of God as something God isn't.
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: And so when David says here, it is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I might learn thy statutes.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: Are we desiring to learn more about God, to understand the truth of who God is, and to reject what Satan says about God?
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: And so that's just two examples of when we look at James 5, verse 13.
- 24:00SPEAKER_01: Now, as we continue on in James 5, let's notice verses 14 and 15 because you will notice at the end of verse 14 it's not a period.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: It's not the end of a sentence.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: You will notice when you look at verse 14.
- 24:43SPEAKER_01: Verse 14, is any among you sick?
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: Let him call for the elders of the church and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
- 25:05SPEAKER_01: Colon.
- 25:08SPEAKER_01: Not period.
- 25:11SPEAKER_01: Colon.
- 25:14SPEAKER_01: Verse 15.
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: And he, if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
- 25:33SPEAKER_01: So what exactly then is the prayer of faith?
- 25:44SPEAKER_01: Now let's go back to the beginning of verse 14.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: Is any among you sick?
- 25:55SPEAKER_01: Let him call for the elders of the church.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: Going on.
- 26:03SPEAKER_01: Um notice there what saves the sick.
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: That is a good practice, I think, to have done, but it's the prayer of faith.
- 26:38SPEAKER_01: Now, what exactly is that prayer?
- 26:44SPEAKER_01: Well, let's go to James 1, verses six and seven specifically.
- 26:55SPEAKER_01: Now, I'm sure some of you have either read or perhaps memorized verse five, but let's not neglect verses six and seven, because those two verses are the condition, I believe, of the prayer of faith.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: Let's notice James one, or before we do that, Mickey, do you have any thoughts on that?
- 27:46SPEAKER_00: Well, I think that with um James V talking about calling on the elders and having faith, um, part of that faith is having enough um gumption to even go and ask the elders to come and pray over you.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: You know, it takes faith and stepping out and being like, you know, I'm I'm not well.
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: And and wellness could be a mental health, it could be a physical health, it could be a spiritual health.
- 28:13SPEAKER_00: It doesn't have to be um just one type of sickness.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: Like you might be fighting a cold, or your back might be out, or you might be going through a spiritual battle of sickness.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: It could be any type of sickness that's ailing you.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: And so it takes a lot of faith to take that step forward and go to the elders of your church because for one, you're confessing something to them.
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: You're like, I am not well.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: And and so um, sometimes your illness is evident and sometimes it's not in people.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: So it takes a huge amount of faith just to take a step in asking the elders of the church to come and pray for you, but also trusting in them that their prayers are adequate enough to help you get healing.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: So that's two types of faith just in that scripture alone.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: And that's what I love about that scripture because it's it's really been proven for two reasons.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: One to ask for it, to ask for the prayer, and for two, to believe in it in someone else's prayer other than your own prayer.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: So there's there's a couple of things happening in that scripture.
- 29:16SPEAKER_00: So it's it's it's pretty awesome, I think.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: So let's go back to James 1, where you were starting out, because that this is really good.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 29:24SPEAKER_01: So let's look at verses six and seven specifically.
- 29:34SPEAKER_01: Verse six, but let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.
- 29:42SPEAKER_01: For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea, driven with the wind and tossed.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: Verse seven, to let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord, and again, I strongly believe in taking time to really consider what those verses are talking about.
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: Now, what does nothing wavering actually mean?
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: Because that I do strongly believe that our understanding of words is so important.
- 30:53SPEAKER_01: Wavering means doubting.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: Wavering means doubting.
- 31:09SPEAKER_01: And I think about Genesis three when Satan threw the serpent came to Eve.
- 31:30SPEAKER_01: Why didn't he go to Adam?
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: I believe because Adam knew what God had said.
- 31:46SPEAKER_01: God had specifically told Adam what not to do.
- 31:53SPEAKER_01: And so that's wh why I believe Satan, again through the serpent, went to Eve to sow seeds of doubt in her mind.
- 32:14SPEAKER_01: And so but when we talk about nothing wavering, no doubting at all.
- 32:27SPEAKER_01: Because how many times does Satan come in to our minds or through circumstances and try to sow those seeds of doubt?
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: And we have to resist those times.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: We cannot give in to any doubt, and so the prayer of faith found in James 5, 14 and 15 is this prayer of faith, this prayer of not doubting.
- 33:17SPEAKER_01: Because again, notice J um notice James one seven when it talks about a person who does waver, a person who does doubt, what are they going to receive?
- 33:41SPEAKER_01: Nothing.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: Convincing that our prayers need to be of faith.
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: Our prayers need to be confident, our prayers need to be um that we need to focus on truly understanding that our prayers need to be we don't need to doubt, we don't need to resemble anything to God that reminds him of Satan.
- 34:47SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 34:48SPEAKER_02: And I can go on for hours.
- 34:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think with the scripture, um, first let's let's back up for a minute, if you don't mind.
- 35:03SPEAKER_00: I want to go back and read James 5 or 1 5 real quick.
- 35:07SPEAKER_00: It says, if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God that giveth to all men liberally and upbraided not, and it shall be given to him.
- 35:15SPEAKER_00: So God would God gives everyone all the wisdom of the world, just freely, liberally.
- 35:21SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 35:22SPEAKER_00: And it's not it's not upbraided, like it's it's intertwined and you can't break it.
- 35:26SPEAKER_00: It's it's not gonna be broken and it shall be given.
- 35:29SPEAKER_00: But let him ask in faith.
- 35:30SPEAKER_00: That's how we have to ask for it.
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: We have to ask in faith when we're not wavering.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: But when we start to waver, let's go to verse 8.
- 35:37SPEAKER_00: I love what it says here because it says, um, when you start to waver, this is what happens, this is the outcome.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: You become a double-minded man and you're unstable.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: And if you're having unstability in your life, it's because you're wavering in your prayer life.
- 35:52SPEAKER_00: And I firmly believe that.
- 35:53SPEAKER_00: And if you're wondering why God isn't answering your prayers, it's because God knows you don't believe that they're going to be answered anyway.
- 35:59SPEAKER_00: So why answer them?
- 36:01SPEAKER_00: Um, sometimes he'll, sometimes even when we doubt ourselves and what we're asking for, sometimes he'll he'll answer prayer to show us that you, you know, he's there.
- 36:13SPEAKER_00: But sometimes he won't answer it because he wants you to have enough faith in that prayer for it to come to pass.
- 36:19SPEAKER_00: And if you don't have that faith and you're disbelieving in it, he really doesn't even want you to waste your time in praying for it.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: No, you're wasting his time.
- 36:28SPEAKER_00: And you're wasting your own time, you know, and you're putting self self-doubt and um discord in your own in your own thinking and your own walk with God if you are doubting your prayer life.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: If you're seriously, you know, going to God and not believing in it, then you might as well not even do it.
- 36:48SPEAKER_00: You might as well just chalk it up because it's it's it's it's it's gonna leave you unstable and you're gonna be double-minded.
- 36:54SPEAKER_00: You can't you can't be that way.
- 36:56SPEAKER_00: That's not a good prayer life to have.
- 36:59SPEAKER_00: You want to be stable and you want to be single-minded and clear with what you're asking always in prayer, um, especially in prayer.
- 37:08SPEAKER_00: I think sometimes we we toss the prayer word around.
- 37:12SPEAKER_00: We're like, oh, I'm just gonna, oh, I'm gonna pray for that, I'm gonna pray for that, I'm just gonna pray for that, you know, and you know, if God shows up, he shows up, and if he doesn't, he doesn't, you know, and I think that it's so nonchalant that we have sometimes that that um mentality, that status of just let's toss prayer around.
- 37:28SPEAKER_00: Like it's not of something hugely important to God.
- 37:32SPEAKER_00: It's huge to God.
- 37:34SPEAKER_00: And if we don't get focused in and stop wavering and stop doing that, then we're gonna fail.
- 37:45SPEAKER_00: You know, we're we're gonna we're gonna fall.
- 37:47SPEAKER_00: And the enemy loves to play on that too, because the enemy is gonna be like, ah, God didn't answer your prayer, God didn't answer your prayer, God didn't answer your prayer, and then you're gonna go, oh yeah, because you know why?
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: Because you didn't believe in it to begin with.
- 37:58SPEAKER_00: But Satan's gonna play on that.
- 38:00SPEAKER_00: He's gonna play on that.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: So there's so many things that'll come at you if you're if you're gonna alter or teeter back and forth with what your prayer life is.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: You need to be adamant and you need to be serious about it.
- 38:13SPEAKER_00: It's not a game, it's not shoots and ladders, you know, but I think we we take advantage of it.
- 38:19SPEAKER_00: Our society, we freely just go, oh, I'm just gonna go pray about that, and you know, you know, you know, and we we throw that word around loosely.
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: And I think we need to be careful with that and and take it more, you know, to you know, get deeply rooted in it with this, especially with this lesson, because uh when I see that verse eight, you know, a double-minded is unable, unstable in his ways.
- 38:43SPEAKER_00: I don't want to be double-minded.
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: I don't want to be unstable in my life.
- 38:47SPEAKER_00: But why am I?
- 38:48SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 38:48SPEAKER_00: Because I'm wavering in my prayer life.
- 38:50SPEAKER_00: That's what the scripture is saying.
- 38:52SPEAKER_00: And so we have to ask ourselves do I want stability?
- 38:57SPEAKER_00: Do I want things to smooth out a little bit?
- 38:59SPEAKER_00: And it's not not that we're not gonna have trials and tribulations, we are, but the the path that we need to be on to get that straightened out for the straight and narrow path that it says, to get off that wide and windy road is not wavering in our prayer life.
- 39:15SPEAKER_00: So I think that's really huge.
- 39:17SPEAKER_00: I I love James.
- 39:18SPEAKER_00: I love this scripture, it's so there's so much depth to it.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: You know, we could go on and on, but I just wanted to point that out.
- 39:23SPEAKER_00: As I was sitting here reading it and I was watching and listening to you, I kept seeing that double-minded, double-minded.
- 39:28SPEAKER_00: I'm like, oh man, there's so many times I've been double-minded myself.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: And then I wondered why things things weren't stable around me, like with myself.
- 39:38SPEAKER_00: Why why would I why would when you have to go back and repeat your prayers over and over and over and over again, it's because you do not believe in God enough to fulfill your prayer.
- 39:49SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 39:50SPEAKER_00: So we have to work on that faith.
- 39:53SPEAKER_00: That and that's a hard thing to do sometimes.
- 39:55SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 39:56SPEAKER_00: Because we're praying for something unseen, we're praying for something unknown.
- 40:00SPEAKER_00: So I just wanted to put that out there because I don't know, it just just you know, it strikes me like that, and I'm like, oh Lord, forgive me because I've been so weak-minded and in in my prayer, and it's like, man, no wonder why things aren't coming to pass, you know.
- 40:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we're gonna lose an opportunity because um our prayer life isn't where it needs to be.
- 40:22unknown: Right.
- 40:23SPEAKER_00: We have to remember that we have a calling on our life, but God can't put us in motion if we can't even have a conversation about it with Him.
- 40:30SPEAKER_00: Think about that.
- 40:31SPEAKER_00: So it's really important.
- 40:33SPEAKER_00: So anyway, I mean I'll let you continue that that just kind of came to my mind.
- 40:36SPEAKER_00: I wanted to share it.
- 40:38SPEAKER_01: Yes, that that is powerful and um worthy of our consideration.
- 40:47SPEAKER_01: Um, how often does Satan try to get us to be too busy to consider things that will improve our lives and will improve others' lives, and yet we have to be we have to be choosing to take time, intentionally take time.
- 41:27SPEAKER_01: And so as we look now, lastly, at verse sixteen of James five, notice what it says, verse sixteen, confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another that ye may be healed.
- 42:00SPEAKER_01: The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
- 42:07SPEAKER_01: No, as I read that verse, as I notice the wording of it.
- 42:20SPEAKER_01: What it doesn't say it doesn't say confess your sins.
- 42:33SPEAKER_01: Now, maybe you're looking at that or listening as I read that, and you're wondering, well, is there a difference between what it says and what it doesn't say?
- 42:56SPEAKER_01: Yes, there is a difference.
- 43:02SPEAKER_01: Confess your faults one to another.
- 43:08SPEAKER_01: Now, my understanding of that would be, you know, if Mickey and I had an argument or disagreement or something come up, or you know, if I had something come up with another person that um wasn't right, that verse is telling me that I need to go to that person and talk to them about, you know, my whatever it is, um that our friendship is.
- 44:01SPEAKER_01: Hindered.
- 44:05SPEAKER_01: And so again, what the verse is not saying is confess your sins one to another.
- 44:16SPEAKER_01: And first John one nine shows us where to go to confess your sins to God correctly.
- 44:33SPEAKER_01: And so then as we continue on in James 5, 16, confess your faults one to another and pray one for another.
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: To me, that means we need to not only confess to that person, but then we need to confess to God.
- 45:23SPEAKER_01: And after confess your faults one to another and pray one for another that you may be healed.
- 45:38SPEAKER_01: No, again to me, yes, that could mean um physical or emotional healing, but that also means a restoration of the friendship.
- 45:58SPEAKER_01: And so remembering that is important.
- 46:06SPEAKER_01: Remembering, okay, who do we go to?
- 46:13SPEAKER_01: Yes, we go to our friends and family in that to confess to them, but we don't neglect going to God and confessing before Him.
- 46:33SPEAKER_01: And so that then restores a friendship that then restores the relationship, I believe, and that is important.
- 46:49SPEAKER_01: And as we look, I'm just going to mention um verses 17 and 18 of James 5.
- 47:01SPEAKER_01: They talk about here is mentioned Elias.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: We're talking about Elijah in the New Testament when he prayed that it would not rain.
- 47:21SPEAKER_01: And it did not rain for three and a half years.
- 47:28SPEAKER_01: And so that would be another study to do for another episode.
- 47:37SPEAKER_01: But James 5, it's full of not only how and what to pray for, but it's also full of valuable instruction for us today, and as is the whole Bible.
- 48:00SPEAKER_01: And it's it's important to intentionally take time every day, I believe, to not just create the Bible, not just be like, oh, I want to check off a box or a line and get it over with.
- 48:25SPEAKER_01: No, we can't.
- 48:28SPEAKER_01: The Bible is too important.
- 48:31SPEAKER_01: Prayer is too important for us to take it lightly.
- 48:36SPEAKER_01: And those two things are our lifeline, ultimate lifeline.
- 48:51SPEAKER_01: That without them, this life wouldn't be what it should be and could be.
- 49:04SPEAKER_01: And so yeah, as we near our the end of our time today, consider truly consider what these verses in James are saying and what we've shared with you.
- 49:31SPEAKER_01: And so it yeah.
- 49:39SPEAKER_00: One thing I wanted to bring up is when you're talking about um um confessing your faults one to another, is um when you have a disagreement or an argument or a confrontation, whatever you whatever you want to call it with someone, and you instead of taking it to everyone else, which you shouldn't be doing anyway, we're not supposed to be doing that, um, and you take it to that person um and bring it to the table, it it brings freedom for both of you.
- 50:08SPEAKER_00: Yes, it brings freedom.
- 50:10SPEAKER_00: And a lot of people want to um be offended and mad at someone and they go and tell everyone else except for the person they're mad at, and sometimes that person doesn't even know what they've done wrong.
- 50:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 50:21SPEAKER_00: They don't understand what fault they have at you, you know, what what fault they are at.
- 50:26SPEAKER_00: And um then it becomes your own fault.
- 50:29SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you know this, but it becomes your own fault.
- 50:31SPEAKER_00: If you don't handle your faults correctly, then it becomes your own fault.
- 50:36SPEAKER_00: So that's what when I was talking about fault, I wanted to clarify fault from sin is um not really the I don't want to say the blame game or anything, but you you have to take responsibility for your actions.
- 50:49SPEAKER_00: You know, and sometimes we um when we make mistakes that causes us to sin, we act out sinfully.
- 50:55SPEAKER_00: But when we wrong our brother or our sister, or if someone wrongs you, um I would suggest, I'm just gonna throw this out there for anybody that may be going through a time with somebody that they need to um reconcile the situation with, um, go to God and pray.
- 51:12SPEAKER_00: Say, Lord, how do I handle this?
- 51:15SPEAKER_00: And and and ask God to bring peace to the situation before you go to the situation.
- 51:20SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 51:21SPEAKER_00: Because God's gonna come in and he's gonna be like, okay, let's bring it down 2,000 notches or depends on how much it gets escalated because some people get pretty heated.
- 51:31SPEAKER_00: And um we live in a world of such offense that um it's it's so everyone's so argumentative because they want to be heard, they want their opinions to matter, they want, they want, they want, they want, and it becomes a selfish act.
- 51:46SPEAKER_00: It's not a selfish act to go to the person and be like, hey, um, you said this, I hurt my feelings, or hey, I did this to you, and I I recognized it wasn't very nice of me to do that, and I apologize.
- 51:58SPEAKER_00: There's two ways to handle fault.
- 52:00SPEAKER_00: If it's your fault, you still you go confess.
- 52:02SPEAKER_00: If it's their fault, you you can go still bring it to their attention.
- 52:06SPEAKER_00: And one thing God wants us to do is He wants us to do it out of love, not out of anger or malice or spite or hate or or point in the finger like, it's your fault, you know.
- 52:18SPEAKER_00: He really wants us to not do that.
- 52:21SPEAKER_00: Um, that's when we're talking about our fault, we're we're faulty.
- 52:25SPEAKER_00: You know, we we are human, fleshly people.
- 52:28SPEAKER_00: We're gonna mess up, we're gonna say things, and a lot of times we say things, and most um arguments that happen in the world today are a miscommunication.
- 52:38SPEAKER_00: That's usually what they are.
- 52:39SPEAKER_00: It's usually nobody's intention to hurt anyone.
- 52:44SPEAKER_00: There are some people out there that intentionally like to hurt people, which is wrong.
- 52:48SPEAKER_00: But um, I I like to try to think that people are better than that and that we want to intentionally be good, but sometimes we just mess up, you know, because we're fleshly.
- 53:00SPEAKER_00: We live in this world of you know chaos and confusion all around us.
- 53:04SPEAKER_00: So I just want to make sure that our listeners are understanding that if you're gonna go and confess to someone and talk to someone about your faults, um, pray about it first.
- 53:15SPEAKER_00: And we're talking about prayer.
- 53:16SPEAKER_00: You might as well start with prayer.
- 53:18SPEAKER_00: Start with it before you even take that first step.
- 53:20SPEAKER_00: Pray about it first, ask God to intercede on your behalf, ask God to bring peace and comfort to the situation, ask God to bring resolve, make it resolved, and say, God, bring the solution so we can resolve the problem, whatever it is, and then talk about it.
- 53:36SPEAKER_00: And if the other person, I wanted to share this too.
- 53:39SPEAKER_00: If the other person is not receptive and does not want to accept either your apology or talk to you about whatever it is you're going through, then it becomes on them.
- 53:48SPEAKER_00: It's no longer on you.
- 53:50SPEAKER_00: You are dismissed from it.
- 53:52SPEAKER_00: You are free from it.
- 53:53SPEAKER_00: It's they can carry the burden.
- 53:56SPEAKER_00: You are done.
- 53:57SPEAKER_00: You're free.
- 53:57SPEAKER_00: You did your part, and God has pardoned you basically.
- 54:00SPEAKER_00: You are pardoned from all of that argument.
- 54:03SPEAKER_00: Now, if they want to carry it around, that you know, follow the trash truck with all the garbage, let them do it.
- 54:10SPEAKER_00: You know, you can't change people, but you can change yourself, you can better yourself through your prayer life and go and say, hey, um, when you approach someone, not everyone's approachable when they're mad at you.
- 54:23SPEAKER_00: They're not approachable.
- 54:24SPEAKER_00: It's really hard to walk up to someone and say, you know what, I I made a mistake.
- 54:29SPEAKER_00: Um I wanted to tell you this.
- 54:31SPEAKER_00: Can we pray about this together?
- 54:33SPEAKER_00: Or can you forgive me?
- 54:34SPEAKER_00: Or will you please pray for me that that I'll I'll recognize not to do this in the future?
- 54:39SPEAKER_00: Or, you know, um a lot of times when you ask someone to pray for them, most of the time they'll let you.
- 54:47SPEAKER_00: Or if you want to pray about it, they usually will let you.
- 54:50SPEAKER_00: Not always, because some people aren't quite, they're not in the same area or in the same part of the spiritual walk that you're in.
- 54:57SPEAKER_00: So you may not be able to meet them right where they're at, but just going to them and confessing the fault, um, that doesn't mean go like like you said, it's not sin.
- 55:06SPEAKER_00: You're not taking all your sins and taking a bucket of sin and dumping it on them.
- 55:10SPEAKER_00: We're not here to put more burden on someone.
- 55:12SPEAKER_00: We're here to confess whatever fault is between each other.
- 55:16SPEAKER_00: And we want to clear the air.
- 55:18SPEAKER_00: You want to get the air cleared because that conscience is gonna the the enemy will play on that for a long, long, long time.
- 55:25SPEAKER_00: You know, I've had situations and in my family, our family is like, oh my gosh, our family is so hateful sometimes when it comes to you wronged me, I will never speak to you again, ever.
- 55:38SPEAKER_00: You are no longer my family.
- 55:40SPEAKER_00: And and um a true story, I'll say this really quickly because it's it's hilarious.
- 55:45SPEAKER_00: My mom and her sister didn't get along for years, and they lived in the same town.
- 55:50SPEAKER_00: And um I would see them, I would be with my mom and I'd see my aunt, and I'd be like, oh hi.
- 55:55SPEAKER_00: And my mom would be like, Don't talk to her.
- 55:57SPEAKER_00: And I'd be like, hey, the problem's with you, not me.
- 56:00SPEAKER_00: You know, that's hey, leave me out of this, you know.
- 56:02SPEAKER_00: And I could just see the frustration between the two of them, and they'd be like, ah, uh, and they'd go their separate ways.
- 56:08SPEAKER_00: And it made me sad.
- 56:09SPEAKER_00: And I thought, you know, man, they need to rec they need to stop.
- 56:12SPEAKER_00: They need to reconcile this.
- 56:14SPEAKER_00: You know, they're sisters, you know, they're getting older, they need to enjoy each other.
- 56:18SPEAKER_00: And they literally could not get over their differences, and it destroyed their whole relationship.
- 56:26SPEAKER_00: And instead of bringing peace to the table and saying, hey, yeah, you know, I'm, you know, yeah, it was 15 years ago, but you know, let's get over this already, you know, and let's bygones be bygones, even if you can't admit that it's your fault or they can't admit it or whatever, um, come to a conclusion where it can be just forgiven and dropped.
- 56:47SPEAKER_00: Just let it go.
- 56:49SPEAKER_00: You know, because we are holding on to so much hate in this world.
- 56:52SPEAKER_00: That's why we can't get anywhere.
- 56:54SPEAKER_00: You know, that's why we're literally drowning.
- 56:57SPEAKER_00: And that's why we're wavering because we're hanging on to that.
- 57:00SPEAKER_00: So it's so important that we need to um, you know, recognize when we're talking about our faults one to another, um, there is so much freedom in it.
- 57:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, God is going to deliver you if you do that.
- 57:13SPEAKER_00: And it's a hard thing to do.
- 57:14SPEAKER_00: It is not easy to call someone up and say, hey, um, hey Bethany, the other day I kind of I kind of said something and I shouldn't have, and I I I noticed you were kind of agitated with me, and I'm sorry I hurt your feelings or whatever, and and talk to you about it.
- 57:29SPEAKER_00: It's hard for people to do that.
- 57:31SPEAKER_00: That's a that's a huge thing.
- 57:33SPEAKER_00: And it's very humbling.
- 57:34SPEAKER_00: And God says we are to be humbled, we're not to be proud.
- 57:38SPEAKER_00: And if you walk around holding on to it, guess what?
- 57:41SPEAKER_00: You're being you're being proud.
- 57:43SPEAKER_00: You're holding on to your pride.
- 57:45SPEAKER_00: And that's the only reason why you're gonna carry that garbage around with you because you're so proud of it.
- 57:50SPEAKER_00: You know, get rid of it.
- 57:51SPEAKER_00: So I just wanted to throw that out there because I think it's important as we're talking about prayer.
- 57:56SPEAKER_00: If we want to get stronger in our prayer life, these are things that are going to bring us freedom.
- 58:02SPEAKER_00: These are things that are going to bring us closer to God, these are things where God's gonna be able to work in our lives if we do certain things, you know.
- 58:10SPEAKER_00: Like we talked about in Matthew in the beginning of this, um, we talked about Matthew 6, 7, and you know, when it talks about vain repetitions and you know, he calls us a heathen.
- 58:23SPEAKER_00: He calls us heathens.
- 58:25SPEAKER_00: Like if we're if we're not doing things the correct way, how he tells us to do it, like in James and um and and how it happened in Chronicles and how he dealt with David, and if we don't do it the way God's teaching us to do it, it becomes in vain.
- 58:39SPEAKER_00: There's you know, it's just a repetitious, it's baloney, is what it is.
- 58:44SPEAKER_00: It's hogwash to him.
- 58:45SPEAKER_00: And we don't want our prayers to be in vain.
- 58:49SPEAKER_00: We want them to be purposeful and meaning.
- 58:52SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, we want to have the desire to one, please God.
- 58:59SPEAKER_00: I I think, myself personally, I want to please God.
- 59:02SPEAKER_00: And I've done this, I've done the repetitious prayers, I've done this praying over and over and over again for something and not believing what I'm saying, you know, and shame on me for that.
- 59:12SPEAKER_00: And I'm glad that God opens our eyes to these situations because this is how our prayer life gets stronger.
- 59:18SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 59:19SPEAKER_00: Is by that's why we're we have this podcast.
- 59:21SPEAKER_00: This is why we're talking about the truth and how to do things.
- 59:24SPEAKER_00: And it's not always an easy thing to do.
- 59:27SPEAKER_00: No, but it is possible.
- 59:28SPEAKER_00: God said we can do anything because he's our strength in doing it.
- 59:32SPEAKER_00: So even if you're scared to pick up the phone and call that whoever or whatever or whatever to say, hey, I, you know, or or say, hey, let's grab some lunch, or you know, let's get together.
- 59:42SPEAKER_00: And they might think you're uh, you know, out of your flipping head, you know, and be like, I'm not meeting you for nothing.
- 59:47SPEAKER_00: You can just go kick rocks.
- 59:49SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, and if they if they push you away, then you tried.
- 59:53SPEAKER_00: The attempt was there.
- 59:54SPEAKER_00: God knows your heart.
- 59:55SPEAKER_00: So if you've tried it, then you can still walk away and and know that you you did your part.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_00: Your faults are forgiven when you do that.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_00: So I just wanted to share that because it's so it's so important because we walk around in such a world of so much negativity and so much hate and so much.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_00: He said, she said, my opinion's more important than your opinion, and we can't get along, no one gets along anymore.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_00: And it's so sad.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_00: So anyway, I just wanted to throw that out there to you.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_00: Yes, I know that was a lot, that was a big old mouthful, but I thought it was important.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_01: Yes, thank you so much for that.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_01: Um, and you know, even when we talk about intercessory prayer, and we talk about um this verse in James 5, verse 16.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_01: You know, one way I think intercessory prayer works is when we have those times when you know we've we've gone to the person or you know, the person is not willing to hear us or whatever the case, I think we're still able to go to God and to talk to him about that situation and leave that with him and just trust him for his timing, and he will answer in his time.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_01: Now, does that mean it'll be overnight or as quickly as we want it to be?
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_01: Maybe, maybe not, but I do believe that intercessory prayer does include going to God and saying, you know, this person and I have this conflict or whatever it is, and you see how that I'm wanting to talk to them, but they aren't being receptive.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_01: And so, Lord, would you please help both of us to be receptive to your leading?
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_01: And I do believe a prayer like that would be beneficial to help you recognize that, okay, I I don't know why they're hesitant to you know get this resolved, but I'm doing what I can.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_01: I'm praying, I'm you know, so just remembering that too, that intercessory prayer can go many ways, I believe.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_01: And one of those ways is when someone has has a conflict with you, but they aren't willing yet to confront, you can go to God, and I would encourage you to do that because that tells God that you're willing to get this resolved, you don't want this grudge, you don't want this to continue, and so as we wrap up today, um James 5 again is so powerful, it's so worthy of our study.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_01: Um I hope that what we've shared with you today has been impactful to you and uplifting to you.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_01: And um Mickey, is there anything else you would like to share before we close in prayer?
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_00: Um no, I think I think you know we covered quite a bit today.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_00: Um I think we gave enough of God's truth that we can now sit and ponder and and and and just meditate on it because it's a lot to take in.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_00: And um as we're helping um by sharing the truth of the word of God when it comes to prayer, um, it's it's gonna be beneficial to anyone listening or or watching either way, um, that they get into the word and they read this scripture for themselves and they pray about it, they're gonna see a shift.
- 1:05:35SPEAKER_00: I believe God will give God will shift their lives.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_00: I I honestly believe there will be movement.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_00: Um just going to God and praying anyway, after reading the word and understanding it, God God's shifts your heart always.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_00: So I think that there's gonna be um an amazing um again shift in in What happens with people that are going to stop and take time to pray and think about be more conscientious conscientious of actually praying and what they're praying instead of just throwing out some words, you know, and um being more mindful.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_00: And another thing I want to suggest um um from a movie actually from the um I think it's called Oh, the prayer room, I think, or war room, war room, where she writes out her prayers, you know.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_00: And um if you're questioning God, write out your prayers and stay on top of your prayers and watch how they come to pass.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_00: I mean, we don't want you to live where we're checking off boxes, but if that's where you're at and you're not sure how to pray, write it out and keep praying it and praying it and praying it.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_00: And as you go deeper with God, you're gonna see those check marks coming.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_00: You know, God's going to start showing you some things.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_00: And um He's gonna bring revelation to your life always.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_00: He He's never you know, He's never failed in that area ever, you know.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_00: Uh we fail, but He does not.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_00: You know, the enemy tries to make us think that God fails us, but He doesn't fail us.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_00: The enemy wants us to think that.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_00: So we need to be really mindful today in closing that um it's okay to pray whatever you need to pray, but when you learn how to do it and it becomes an important part of your life, not just another ritual or another part of your routine or another step that you have to take, you don't have to pray.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_00: But I recommend it highly.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_00: You know, um, the Bible talks a lot about prayer, so I think it's pretty important to God.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_00: I really think it's huge.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_00: Um, and if you really want that personal connection with him, you should be praying with him always.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_00: Yes, and so I I do suggest it.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_00: So, but yeah, I I we do need to wrap up here and um close out in prayer.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_00: And for anyone that is listening, if you need personal prayer, you can contact Bethany or myself.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_00: Um, our websites are both in the show notes, and um we have all of that information in there, and there's lots of information as well.

- 1:08:39SPEAKER_00: You're you're so well studied.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_00: I love it because you you really know how to read the word, and I can tell that you study it because it's processed, it's not sugar coated, you know.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_00: And I love that about you.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_00: I love that you're really intuitive to what you want to share to our listeners, and it's super important that we're doing that.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_00: And so I want to thank you for that because that was wonderful.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_00: And um I think what I'll do is I'll just go ahead and close this out in prayer.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_00: Is there anything you want to say?
- 1:09:06unknown: No.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_00: All right, well, let's pray then, okay?
- 1:09:09SPEAKER_00: Heavenly Father, God, we thank you, Lord.
- 1:09:11SPEAKER_00: We just thank you so much, Lord.
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_00: We thank you for this podcast, we thank you for opportunity, we thank you for our listeners, Lord, and anybody watching.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_00: And Lord, I just ask that you encourage people to share this message so that people can just strengthen their prayer lives, Lord, and and um want to engage with you, Father God.
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_00: Not necessarily with us.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's nice, and we appreciate that and we love it, but we we we really want people to engage with you, God, because you're gonna show them the truth in your word.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_00: You're gonna show them the light of the world.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_00: You're gonna show them all the love that you have for them, God.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_00: And I just ask that you just help us to be mindful, mindful and steadfast, your word says that we need to be, and we need to be doing it even in our prayer life with anything that we're doing, God.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_00: Help us to be more focused and give us a clear, clear vision of what you want us to do so that we can serve and that we could be better um Christians, we could be better people where we could just love one another.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_00: And God, I just thank you for um opening up your word and sharing it in a way that we can understand it and help us, Lord, to focus on it and stay vigilant and mindful, God.
- 1:10:17SPEAKER_00: And we just thank you for this day.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_00: We thank you for for waking us up in the breath in our lungs, God.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_00: We just thank you for everything you give and pour out onto us, even though we don't deserve it.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_00: We just want to thank you and praise you in your precious name, Lord.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_00: So that was great.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_00: Again, if you have any questions, um, Bethany or myself are available.

- 1:11:09SPEAKER_00: I think we're gonna go ahead and continue on because this has been really good.
- 1:11:12SPEAKER_00: Like I think we could talk about prayer for a long time, um, but I still think there's you know more that we can share.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_00: So we'll we'll just keep going until God says to stop.
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_00: So, y'all take care, and again, this has been another great episode of Truth Be Told.
