- 0:01The richest place on earth is not a bank vault.
- 0:05There's a story behind that. This is your daily message from
- 0:09Chad #1142 to upgrade your mental game today by telling
- 0:12yourself a better story. Because the most important story
- 0:15you hear is the story you tell yourself.
- 0:17This message is dedicated to Todd Henry.
- 0:19Here's the upgrade you may tell yourself you'll get to it
- 0:23someday, but upgraded the He knows the grave is full of
- 0:25people who are still getting ready.
- 0:27Here's the story. Oliver Wendell Holmes once said
- 0:31many people die with their music still in them.
- 0:34And then he told us why. Too often is because they're
- 0:37always getting ready to live, and before they know it, time
- 0:39runs out. The richest place on Earth isn't
- 0:42a bank vault. The cemetery is the wealthiest
- 0:46ground on the planet. Not because of what's in the
- 0:48caskets, because of what's in the people.
- 0:50Potential never used. Books that were never written,
- 0:54Songs that were never sung. Businesses never started.
- 0:56Cures never discovered. The apology never spoken.
- 0:59The I love you never said. All of it buried.
- 1:04A career coach named Dan Miller told about a pharmacist who came
- 1:08up to him after a talk. The pharmacist had been his
- 1:11profession 17 years, and Miller asked him about his dreams.
- 1:15The man went quiet. He couldn't name a single one.
- 1:20One responsibility had led to another for so long that his
- 1:23dreams had been buried alive somewhere back down the road.
- 1:27And standing there, Dan Dan recounted a grown man within a 3
- 1:31minute conversation began to weep in front of him because he
- 1:35realized he'd carried his music around for 17 years and never
- 1:40played a note. That doesn't have to be your
- 1:43story, Todd. Henry wrote a whole book about
- 1:45this, and he gave it a blunt title, Die Empty.
- 1:49His point wasn't morbid, it was urgent.
- 1:51The death rate is hovering right around 100%.
- 1:55So the goal isn't to die comfortable or die impressive.
- 1:59The goal is to die empty, to pour out every bit of what you
- 2:04were given while your heart is still beating.
- 2:07You're walking around right now with music still in you.
- 2:10The question isn't whether you have it.
- 2:12You do. The question is whether the
- 2:14cemetery gets it or the world gets it.
- 2:17In the graveyards quiet ground lie the songs that made no
- 2:21sound, Books unwritten, dreams untold cures and courage left on
- 2:27hold. Fear kept many from the start,
- 2:30potential buried with the heart. So write the page, make the
- 2:36call, start the thing. Take the imperfect first step
- 2:40today because someday is just the address where dreams go to
- 2:45be buried. The better story to tell
- 2:47yourself is I'm going to die empty.
- 2:51Tell me a story of someone you believe died empty to from

- 2:57them the world needs what you've got.
