- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Cracking this morning, a presentation of the Cracking
- 0:05Speaker 1: Audio Network. Ken Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR FM.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Here's Mike Benton. Two ways to look at this.
- 0:13Speaker 2: We have just hit the finish line on one of
- 0:15Speaker 2: the most ruling stretches and we have just begun with
- 0:18Speaker 2: another ruling assignment. Welcome to Cracking this morning. Last game
- 0:23Speaker 2: of a seventeen game month of January, this one coming
- 0:27Speaker 2: on Saturday, January thirty. First, the Cracking back on the
- 0:30Speaker 2: road now for three in a row heading into the
- 0:33Speaker 2: Olympic break. Tonight. It's a big one out of the
- 0:36Speaker 2: Pacific Division, a four point swing game against the Vegas
- 0:39Speaker 2: Golden Knights. Again, Mike Benton with you, and we can't
- 0:42Speaker 2: wait to have you join us here for all the action.
- 0:44Speaker 2: First off, based off this little past seven o'clock Pacific
- 0:47Speaker 2: time from T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with the
- 0:50Speaker 2: Crack and looking to go to and oero this season
- 0:52Speaker 2: against the Golden Knights, and it will be their first
- 0:55Speaker 2: matchup against Vegas since Game two of the season won
- 0:58Speaker 2: the Cracking one sudden depth overtime two to one back
- 1:03Speaker 2: in Seattle in October. Airtime is six thirty your pregame
- 1:07Speaker 2: show served up by Frostbrewed Corps Light Choose Chill will
- 1:11Speaker 2: also involve us live on the scene at Tom's Watch Bar,
- 1:14Speaker 2: right across from Climate Pledgerina. Hope that you can certainly
- 1:18Speaker 2: join us here for all the action, all night long ever.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Written now in Las Vegas, I'll join you once again
- 1:24Speaker 2: back at Tom's Hope that you can certainly be with
- 1:27Speaker 2: us here all across the Global Credit Union Kraken Audio Network.
- 1:31Speaker 2: So the Kraken getting done with seventeen games in this
- 1:35Speaker 2: month tonight, and they have a winning record already assured
- 1:38Speaker 2: at nine to five and two, but also important four
- 1:42Speaker 2: point swing games are on the horizon with the Crack
- 1:46Speaker 2: and five points back of Vegas, who is tied for
- 1:48Speaker 2: first right now in the Pacific Division. That game comes
- 1:52Speaker 2: up a course of seating, and then you have Tuesday
- 1:54Speaker 2: this next week against the Anaheim Ducks, who are in
- 1:57Speaker 2: wild card spot number two and tied with the Crack
- 2:00Speaker 2: and a half fifty nine points. Very next night, the
- 2:03Speaker 2: end of back to back against the Kings, who are
- 2:06Speaker 2: out of the playoff picture right now and two points
- 2:08Speaker 2: back both of the Kraken and the Ducks. So these
- 2:12Speaker 2: next three games could certainly weigh very, very heavily as
- 2:16Speaker 2: far as where the Kraken can go with this playoff
- 2:19Speaker 2: picture still very much opaque at this point of the
- 2:22Speaker 2: season heading into Game fifty four. To talk about it
- 2:25Speaker 2: with us will be Darren Brown of Sound of Hockey
- 2:27Speaker 2: at NHL dot Com In just a bit, as we
- 2:30Speaker 2: will cover the Kraken homestand at four and two, the
- 2:34Speaker 2: growth of Maddy Benier's emotional response, also in what was
- 2:38Speaker 2: a bit of a chippy game brewing against Toronto, and
- 2:42Speaker 2: also a look at Vegas and NHL arena rankings. We're
- 2:46Speaker 2: just climbing pledge arena sit in a recent pull from
- 2:49Speaker 2: fans and also the media and our picks here for
- 2:52Speaker 2: our favorite road trip stops so far. Darren Brown joining
- 2:56Speaker 2: us here in just a bit. Before we get to him,
- 2:58Speaker 2: here's a flashback of two nights ago with the crack
- 3:01Speaker 2: and looking to finish off the leaves and getting going
- 3:05Speaker 2: very early on the can four points in that.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Five to one win. He gives it up to Beniers
- 3:10Speaker 3: for a shot store Maddy baneers in the slot right
- 3:21Speaker 3: at the hash marks off the pass.
- 3:23Speaker 2: From Jared the can. It's a one uphing Seattle fucking lead.
- 3:27Speaker 3: We've played one twenty one up.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Period number one.
- 3:31Speaker 4: Oh was a Jared McCann pass on his back end
- 3:33Speaker 4: that initially got the block, but then he found the
- 3:36Speaker 4: rebound put him across to the slot. Matty Veneers is
- 3:39Speaker 4: between the hash parks. Since he receives that pass, he
- 3:42Speaker 4: beats Stars. He's got points in five straight games. One
- 3:46Speaker 4: nothing Brackets.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Works right side, his shot turned aside the redout Stars,
- 3:50Speaker 3: Shane Right Schwartz the shot. Shane Wright follows up the
- 4:00Speaker 3: play and the Kraken regae the lead two one gets
- 4:03Speaker 3: rode a center into the offensive Endur settles shots two
- 4:14Speaker 3: Brandon Monteur full Monty's on the right side, five hole
- 4:20Speaker 3: on stalars and the hard corner. Carlo worked it free,
- 4:24Speaker 3: slapped around the boards, turned over.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Shane Right store.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Shane Right's got two, and the Seattle kracking goes back
- 4:39Speaker 3: up by two, four to two with eleven twenty eight
- 4:44Speaker 3: left here.
- 4:44Speaker 4: The third once again intelligent played by the defense. For
- 4:48Speaker 4: this case, it's Brandon Montour once again, the puck gets
- 4:51Speaker 4: rimmed around the boards. He reads it perfectly, but Toronto
- 4:54Speaker 4: wants to move it to the middle of the ice.
- 4:56Speaker 5: He puts his.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Stick in that passing length, deflects the pucket. It goes
- 5:00Speaker 4: ripe to shine Wright, he goes down beat stars glove side.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Four two racket. Matthews's right to drop it off.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Jared McCann finds a loose buck stare Jared McCann with
- 5:18Speaker 3: the kapper on this one. Two thirty seven left hair
- 5:22Speaker 3: in the third.
- 5:23Speaker 2: It's a five two crackt lead.
- 5:25Speaker 4: A great work in the defensive zone for the cracket
- 5:28Speaker 4: is they put a lot of pressure on Tron, not
- 5:30Speaker 4: giving him a lot.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Of time to set up, and he plays and it
- 5:33Speaker 2: was not pucked at, scooted out past the top of
- 5:35Speaker 2: the circles.
- 5:36Speaker 4: The McCann picks up, crosses the blue line, crosses the
- 5:39Speaker 4: red line, puts it home.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Five two cracket fine two was your final score with
- 5:44Speaker 2: the Kraken winning and wired to wire fashion with Shane
- 5:47Speaker 2: ry burying a pair of goals, and that will carry
- 5:50Speaker 2: us here into this conversation beginning with the first of
- 5:52Speaker 2: three straight games on the road. They could be critical
- 5:56Speaker 2: Vegas again tonight, Anaheim next Tuesday, the King on Wednesday,
- 6:00Speaker 2: and then it's break time. Joining us to talk about
- 6:04Speaker 2: it right now. Darren Brown from the Sound of Hockey,
- 6:06Speaker 2: also his handiwork scene at NHL dot com dB. I think,
- 6:10Speaker 2: as of this recording, you went to dinner separately. I
- 6:14Speaker 2: went to dinner separately as well. Tell me one's got
- 6:18Speaker 2: to go to kind of break the ice in this conversation.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Appetizers or dessert.
- 6:23Speaker 5: Appetizers appetizers. I don't even think there's anything more to
- 6:27Speaker 5: say there.
- 6:27Speaker 2: It's just, uh, yeah, you need your sugar rush more
- 6:32Speaker 2: than you need something to kind of warm you up
- 6:34Speaker 2: though for the main course. Right.
- 6:36Speaker 5: Well, if so, here's a question for you. If I'm
- 6:38Speaker 5: getting rid of appetizers, like I can never order another
- 6:41Speaker 5: appetizers that you're saying basically in.
- 6:43Speaker 2: This hypothetical, yeah, I guess we'll go there.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:45Speaker 5: Okay, So if that's the case, am I able to
- 6:48Speaker 5: just order a side?
- 6:49Speaker 2: Ooh, I'm gonna say no. I'm gonna keep this firmly
- 6:53Speaker 2: within the lines here, Okay.
- 6:55Speaker 5: Nonetheless, I stand by my ea.
- 6:59Speaker 2: See, I'm gonna go outizers because I mean me, if
- 7:01Speaker 2: you put like something really really good and tasty, not
- 7:05Speaker 2: chows MONSRELLI sticks, good bread, there is no way I'm
- 7:09Speaker 2: saying no. And by the time I'm all done usually
- 7:12Speaker 2: I'm I'm i'm stuff for dessert.
- 7:15Speaker 5: Yeah, you're telling me I can't have nachos anymore though?
- 7:17Speaker 2: Oh yeah, see now I'm I'm bringing you a tough one.
- 7:20Speaker 5: Now, yeah, now, I stick with it. I like my answer.
- 7:25Speaker 2: That sounds good enough here. Anyhow, this is going to
- 7:28Speaker 2: be a fun one because I think of just you know,
- 7:30Speaker 2: how how close things are compact, And I mean, who
- 7:33Speaker 2: knew about roughly four months ago? This is what we're
- 7:35Speaker 2: looking at here as far as the Pacific Division. But
- 7:38Speaker 2: I mean, I'll first off, go back to the end
- 7:40Speaker 2: of two nights ago, and I threw this question out
- 7:43Speaker 2: in postgame coverage, so I'll share this here with you
- 7:46Speaker 2: as well. Four and two homestand where do you think
- 7:50Speaker 2: this positions the Cracking as a buyer or seller?
- 7:54Speaker 5: You know, that's a really good question. I think I
- 7:57Speaker 5: think it makes them more of a buyer, Believe it
- 7:59Speaker 5: or not. It's funny though they played against the Toronto
- 8:02Speaker 5: Mayple Leafs right and coming into that game they had
- 8:04Speaker 5: almost the exact same record as the Toronto Maple Leafs,
- 8:07Speaker 5: except the Mayple Leafs had played one more game and
- 8:09Speaker 5: had one more regulation loss coming in, and the Kraken
- 8:13Speaker 5: are like right in the thick of it. And with
- 8:14Speaker 5: that win, it put them at fifty nine points, which
- 8:17Speaker 5: is good for third place in the Pacific and one
- 8:20Speaker 5: of those kind of auto spots in the playoffs where
- 8:22Speaker 5: you don't have to deal with the Central Division and
- 8:25Speaker 5: the wild card crossover kind of a thing, right, So
- 8:28Speaker 5: like pretty safe spot, especially if they can put a
- 8:30Speaker 5: little bit of a gap between themselves and Anaheim and
- 8:33Speaker 5: San Jose and Los Angeles. But then the other side
- 8:36Speaker 5: of the coin, you have the Toronto Maple Leafs in
- 8:39Speaker 5: dead last place in the Atlantic Division, and it's like
- 8:42Speaker 5: the sky is falling for them, right Like if the
- 8:45Speaker 5: Kraken just happens to be in a different division this year,
- 8:48Speaker 5: I think we'd feel very differently about how they're doing.
- 8:51Speaker 5: But because they're in the Pacific, things are looking pretty
- 8:55Speaker 5: rosy right now. And especially now that they've won three
- 8:57Speaker 5: in a row and they have what I think four
- 8:59Speaker 5: of their life five they've won. You got to feel
- 9:02Speaker 5: pretty good about it. And why not invest a little bit.
- 9:06Speaker 5: I know it's their goal to be a winner here,
- 9:10Speaker 5: to be a playoff team every year, so this is
- 9:13Speaker 5: the first step towards that, right If they can get
- 9:15Speaker 5: into the playoffs. Now it does. I mean there's been
- 9:19Speaker 5: a lot of whispering out there that the Crackner are
- 9:22Speaker 5: looking to upgrade offensively and find a scoring winger. I've
- 9:25Speaker 5: always thought that was the need, right, So why not
- 9:28Speaker 5: go for it? And I don't mean go for it
- 9:30Speaker 5: is in like push everything in and try to win
- 9:32Speaker 5: the Stanley Cup, because I don't think they're there yet,
- 9:34Speaker 5: But why not do what it takes to get you
- 9:35Speaker 5: over the line, especially if it's a move that can
- 9:38Speaker 5: help you for the next couple of years as well.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Absolutely, and I said this to as well for post Gave.
- 9:42Speaker 2: If you're looking to be a buyer here, I mean
- 9:44Speaker 2: you're not in the same contention when to us say
- 9:47Speaker 2: you know, Vegas is right now, Edmonton is right now,
- 9:50Speaker 2: Colorado is right now. But I can't help but think
- 9:54Speaker 2: trade that team's made that just didn't give their room
- 9:58Speaker 2: a jolt, but became Friendsranchi's course altering, say, for instance,
- 10:02Speaker 2: Matthew could chuck to Florida, say for instance, Quinn Hughes
- 10:05Speaker 2: now to Minnesota. And even going way back to the nineties,
- 10:08Speaker 2: when Anaheim got Tamu Salani, I mean they were even
- 10:12Speaker 2: well behind. I think where say teams like where Florida
- 10:16Speaker 2: was Minnesota is right now, but it was franchise altering,
- 10:19Speaker 2: and it certainly is I think a very very compelling
- 10:21Speaker 2: case to what they can do here over the next
- 10:24Speaker 2: several weeks, right around the trade embargo for the Olympic
- 10:27Speaker 2: break here, Darren, what did Lane Lambert's reaction last night
- 10:32Speaker 2: tell you about the emotions when they became escalated After
- 10:37Speaker 2: you had the Schwartz hit, you had the cat and hit,
- 10:39Speaker 2: and then you had the toulven And hit.
- 10:41Speaker 5: I was a little surprised. I didn't think there was
- 10:43Speaker 5: much of an emotion from him on that, and I
- 10:46Speaker 5: asked him straight up if he would have liked to
- 10:47Speaker 5: see more of a physical response from his team, especially
- 10:51Speaker 5: after the cat and hit, because at least after the
- 10:54Speaker 5: hit on Tolvenen by Carlow on that one, they at
- 10:57Speaker 5: least went and had a conversation, right, So he wasn't
- 10:59Speaker 5: like totally off the hook Scott free after that on,
- 11:03Speaker 5: but after the cat and hit, there really wasn't anything,
- 11:05Speaker 5: and that that did surprise me. So I did ask
- 11:07Speaker 5: Lambert about that. I asked couple of the players about that,
- 11:10Speaker 5: and even Lambert was like, well, it was kind of
- 11:12Speaker 5: a kind of an incidental thing to me. I think
- 11:16Speaker 5: if you have any kind of a hit like that,
- 11:17Speaker 5: even if it is incidental, right, you still I still
- 11:21Speaker 5: think you want to send some sort of a message
- 11:23Speaker 5: that you can't touch number twenty seven. You know, that's
- 11:27Speaker 5: my take on it. Call me old school, but it
- 11:30Speaker 5: seemed like, you know, to just kind of let that slide,
- 11:34Speaker 5: even if it is incidental, there's a certain message I
- 11:39Speaker 5: think that you want to tell other teams in the
- 11:41Speaker 5: league that hey, there's a few guys on this team
- 11:43Speaker 5: that you don't touch, and number twenty seven is one
- 11:45Speaker 5: of them. And the fact that they kind of just
- 11:47Speaker 5: didn't even really question him too much there. I didn't
- 11:50Speaker 5: personally like that. But yeah, to answer your question, I mean,
- 11:52Speaker 5: Lambert didn't have too big of a reaction to it,
- 11:54Speaker 5: the players didn't have too big of a reaction to it,
- 11:56Speaker 5: So maybe I'm overreacting a little bit. But what did
- 11:58Speaker 5: you think about it, Mike?
- 12:00Speaker 2: You know, I thought it was very interesting from the
- 12:01Speaker 2: effect of that you had the cat and hit, which
- 12:04Speaker 2: I think looked less predatorial than say the hit that
- 12:07Speaker 2: you know Tolnen took from Brandon Carlo, and really at
- 12:10Speaker 2: that point the popp began to boil over. I did
- 12:13Speaker 2: notice though that Vince Done was already in the year
- 12:16Speaker 2: of Eckman Larsen. After the cat and hit, I did
- 12:18Speaker 2: notice that Jerry McCann gave him a shove as well.
- 12:21Speaker 2: So who knows that that was enough? I mean, I
- 12:24Speaker 2: think if you're Toronto and I heard this elsewhere, there
- 12:27Speaker 2: was much more. I think vitriol toward the direction of
- 12:32Speaker 2: the leaves when Coppocaco and Brandon Carlo were tied up
- 12:36Speaker 2: front of the net and Cocko imposes his will and
- 12:39Speaker 2: the crack and get two quick goals in short order.
- 12:41Speaker 2: But I do see your point where what you don't
- 12:44Speaker 2: want to do is establish precedence where you can touch
- 12:46Speaker 2: any players. And I think, you know, I think from
- 12:49Speaker 2: a more severe angle, just ask you know how things
- 12:52Speaker 2: went with Matti Vanniers and Tyler Myers from roughly say,
- 12:55Speaker 2: you know, three years ago. Recall that I.
- 12:57Speaker 5: Do, yep, And I think that affected Matty beaneers game
- 13:01Speaker 5: for a long time. So yeah, I do certainly remember that,
- 13:05Speaker 5: And yeah, I don't know, I didn't. It left a
- 13:08Speaker 5: little bit of a bad taste in my mouth that
- 13:09Speaker 5: there wasn't a reaction. I do believe that it was
- 13:11Speaker 5: totally accidental, Like I don't think Olive Reckman Larsen had
- 13:15Speaker 5: any intent on even hitting Berkeley pat and let alone
- 13:19Speaker 5: injuring him and knocking him out of the game. But
- 13:21Speaker 5: that's how it has to go. You know, when you
- 13:24Speaker 5: have a player like that who's twenty years old and
- 13:27Speaker 5: has the makings of being this kind of cornerstone player
- 13:31Speaker 5: for the franchise for many years to come, I think
- 13:34Speaker 5: you got to make sure that he's protected on the ice.
- 13:36Speaker 2: And now you hold your breath hoping that he is
- 13:38Speaker 2: going to be okay heading into this game and this
- 13:42Speaker 2: road trip as well. But speaking of Ben Ears Darren,
- 13:45Speaker 2: how confident now, being that he's on pace to match
- 13:50Speaker 2: his point total from his Calder Trophy campaign three years ago,
- 13:54Speaker 2: that Matty Baniers is now moving into the sixty to
- 13:57Speaker 2: seventy point range beginning next season.
- 14:00Speaker 5: How confident am I? Well, that's a hard question too.
- 14:04Speaker 5: I would say that he's I'll say this, he's becoming
- 14:09Speaker 5: the player that I think we all hoped that he
- 14:12Speaker 5: would be. Right. I think there's been some ups and
- 14:14Speaker 5: downs for him, but I think he's been pretty consistent
- 14:18Speaker 5: throughout this whole season. You know, even when he's not
- 14:21Speaker 5: necessarily scoring, you see what he does on the defensive
- 14:24Speaker 5: end of the ice and why Lane Lambert trusts him
- 14:27Speaker 5: so much in pretty much every situation, and he is
- 14:30Speaker 5: developing into that kind of a guy. So is he
- 14:34Speaker 5: going to be like one of the absolute top centers
- 14:36Speaker 5: in the league. I don't think so. I don't think
- 14:37Speaker 5: he ever reaches that kind of echelon, But I do
- 14:40Speaker 5: like the track that he's on here. Does he get
- 14:43Speaker 5: to the sixty seventy point range next year? I think
- 14:46Speaker 5: that's totally feasible. It all kind of depends on how
- 14:49Speaker 5: he gets his season started right, because we've seen that
- 14:51Speaker 5: eventually he finds it and starts playing well. But can
- 14:55Speaker 5: he make it last for the entire season. I think
- 14:57Speaker 5: this year he's more in that range of and making
- 15:00Speaker 5: it last for the whole season. So yeah, I think
- 15:03Speaker 5: if you can get him to come in and produce
- 15:05Speaker 5: from the very beginning next year, you might be onto
- 15:08Speaker 5: something there. Maybe he can to go even higher than that.
- 15:10Speaker 5: But I certainly like what he's what he's doing right now.
- 15:13Speaker 5: Lane Lambert seems to really love what he's doing, and yeah,
- 15:16Speaker 5: it seems like it's working pretty well to have Jared
- 15:19Speaker 5: McCann back on that top line with him and Jordan Eberly.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Krack and have moved past the string of Eastern Conference
- 15:23Speaker 2: opponents for now and here come the slew of four
- 15:27Speaker 2: point games, beginning with Vegas here for this evening. I mean, Darren,
- 15:31Speaker 2: they can play a big game, they can play a
- 15:33Speaker 2: Burley game. They're the third tallest team in the NHL.
- 15:35Speaker 2: They're tied for the six heaviest in the NHL. Based
- 15:39Speaker 2: on I think a two part question here, of any
- 15:41Speaker 2: of the four lines of Kraken can roll out right now,
- 15:45Speaker 2: who do you think needs the biggest game against Vegas tonight?
- 15:49Speaker 2: And I think leading into this to begin this these
- 15:51Speaker 2: next three games, do you set the bar at four
- 15:54Speaker 2: of six points?
- 15:55Speaker 5: I'd say I'd say give them a give them one
- 15:58Speaker 5: one night off out of the three. If you know,
- 16:01Speaker 5: if they get four out of six, I think they're
- 16:02Speaker 5: going to be relatively happy with that because they're they're
- 16:05Speaker 5: gaining on somebody. Then six out of six would be
- 16:08Speaker 5: fantastic though, especially the way they're playing. Uh, but they
- 16:11Speaker 5: are also catching Vegas at at the right time. You know,
- 16:14Speaker 5: they've they've lost three straight and they've been doing that recently,
- 16:17Speaker 5: catching teams at the right time. Washington was absolutely in
- 16:21Speaker 5: the dumpster and Toronto is kind of in the dumpster
- 16:24Speaker 5: right now as well. So catching teams at the right time.
- 16:27Speaker 5: Which line is going to be the most important? I mean,
- 16:31Speaker 5: you might as well put your money on that first
- 16:33Speaker 5: line that's been clicking so well lately here. I mean,
- 16:36Speaker 5: if Jared mccannon has six points in his last two games,
- 16:39Speaker 5: Matty Veneers has what four, I think contributing as well. Yeah, yeah,
- 16:45Speaker 5: so I think that's that's probably the safe money if
- 16:49Speaker 5: we're making a Vegas bet there, well done. But hey,
- 16:53Speaker 5: don't forget about the fourth line, right they've been They've
- 16:55Speaker 5: been a key contributor here and I think a big
- 16:58Speaker 5: reason for their multiple different turnarounds that they've had this season.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Hey, Darren. Finally, NHL arena rankings came out here from
- 17:05Speaker 2: the Athletic and Climate Pledge. Arena was eighth based on
- 17:09Speaker 2: fan experience, media polling other amenities as well. Number one
- 17:13Speaker 2: was Montreal, Number two was Vegas. Dead last was Ottawa.
- 17:18Speaker 2: I think as far as my own picks here, mine
- 17:22Speaker 2: might have to be MSG for my favorite roadstop I
- 17:25Speaker 2: think so far, just from a pure game standpoint. I
- 17:28Speaker 2: haven't seen Montreal from a game night standpoint yet, but
- 17:31Speaker 2: I was there for the draft, and you know, I
- 17:33Speaker 2: surely can't wait for one of these days here. But
- 17:36Speaker 2: if you can pick one, what's your favorite road arena taking?
- 17:40Speaker 2: What was your role stopping grounds Minnesota out of the equation?
- 17:43Speaker 5: That's a good question too. I think I don't want
- 17:46Speaker 5: to just agree with you, but I kind of feel
- 17:48Speaker 5: like I have to agree with you. I haven't been
- 17:50Speaker 5: to every arena by any means, yeah, but I do.
- 17:54Speaker 5: I do feel that that's the one arena that I've
- 17:57Speaker 5: been inside of as a as a media member where
- 18:01Speaker 5: I was like, whoa this is? This feels truly different
- 18:05Speaker 5: to me, And there's something there's something about it where
- 18:09Speaker 5: it's like the concourse is down below, you know, you
- 18:12Speaker 5: feel how old it is. I also lived in New York,
- 18:15Speaker 5: so I have a for for quite a while, so
- 18:18Speaker 5: I have a strong connection to that, to that place
- 18:21Speaker 5: as well. And yeah, there's something something kind of chilling
- 18:27Speaker 5: about it, like a goosebump kind of a thing when
- 18:29Speaker 5: when you get to do something at that arena. Other
- 18:32Speaker 5: places I like, I mean, I think the Vegas experience
- 18:37Speaker 5: is pretty cool, just being that it's like right on
- 18:40Speaker 5: the strip. You know, I don't think the arena is
- 18:42Speaker 5: like anything. I mean, obviously they have a great show there,
- 18:45Speaker 5: but I don't feel like the arena is all that
- 18:48Speaker 5: much cooler thing.
- 18:48Speaker 2: It's more about the show than than it is about
- 18:50Speaker 2: the amenities.
- 18:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I think so. And obviously I have some enjoyment
- 18:59Speaker 5: with the Grand Casino Arena now and they'll take that too. Yeah,
- 19:03Speaker 5: But no, I think I think you're right. I think
- 19:05Speaker 5: of the ones I've been to, I think msg IS
- 19:08Speaker 5: is probably my favorite road arena.
- 19:09Speaker 2: I appreciate you here. This is gonna be a fun
- 19:11Speaker 2: one tonight in Vegas, and as far as you and
- 19:14Speaker 2: me crossing pass, it's gonna be a while. But looking
- 19:17Speaker 2: forward to catch up once again after the Olympic breaks,
- 19:20Speaker 2: so we don't talk to you until then, but enjoy it,
- 19:23Speaker 2: have a great break and appreciate you, Darren. Thank you.
- 19:26Speaker 5: Sounds good. Likewise, Mike and Hey, happy bleated birthday.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Uh dB or two kind thank you very much. Appreciate you.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Darren Brown joining us here once again from Sound of
- 19:35Speaker 2: Hockey and NHL dot Com as well, but matchup two
- 19:39Speaker 2: coming up here for these two teams again, the Crack
- 19:41Speaker 2: at first beat and what feels like a game that
- 19:43Speaker 2: was played a long time ago. Back on October eleventh,
- 19:47Speaker 2: the Cracking one two to one in sudden depth overtime
- 19:50Speaker 2: on a game winning goal by Jared McCann. Ever since then,
- 19:54Speaker 2: the picture for the playoffs has morphed into this. Vegas
- 19:58Speaker 2: is tight for first with Edmonton in the Pacific Division.
- 20:01Speaker 2: The Krack and though are not too far behind, five
- 20:04Speaker 2: points back, but also not too far ahead of the
- 20:08Speaker 2: cut line. As of right now clearby just one point
- 20:11Speaker 2: ahead of the San Jose Sharks. Plenty of players right
- 20:15Speaker 2: now riding an offensive wave. On the Craken side. Matty
- 20:19Speaker 2: Beniers has got goals in three straight games. He's also
- 20:22Speaker 2: on a five game point streak. Chandler Stevenson, former Golden Knight,
- 20:26Speaker 2: comes into points in three consecutive games. Jordan Ebery also
- 20:30Speaker 2: with a four game point streak. He's got six points
- 20:33Speaker 2: in that span as well. Jared mccampbe will also be
- 20:36Speaker 2: on milestone watch. His next goal will be a two
- 20:40Speaker 2: hundredth in his NHL career. On the Vegas side, Jack
- 20:43Speaker 2: Eichel no surprise, helping carry them right now with sixty
- 20:46Speaker 2: one points in forty six games. Mitch Marners so far
- 20:50Speaker 2: a pretty successful first season in Vegas underway fifty four
- 20:53Speaker 2: points by the way in fifty three games. Mark Stone
- 20:57Speaker 2: also a part of a top heavy roster who has
- 20:59Speaker 2: plenty of size and skill fifty three points in thirty
- 21:03Speaker 2: seven games. On top of that, with Vegas coming off
- 21:06Speaker 2: a five to four overtime loss against the Dallas Stars,
- 21:10Speaker 2: special teams could be a challenge here for the Krack.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Inside Vegas comes in fifth ranked power play in the
- 21:17Speaker 2: entire NHL, but get a load of this penalty kill
- 21:20Speaker 2: Holman road. It is quite different here as far as
- 21:23Speaker 2: who the Kraken are facing the Golden Knights, top ranked
- 21:27Speaker 2: penalty kill on the road, twenty fifth ranked penalty kill
- 21:32Speaker 2: on home ice as well, and yet they can certainly
- 21:35Speaker 2: play a discipline game, averaging just little over six penalty
- 21:39Speaker 2: minutes a game at his second best in the NHL.
- 21:41Speaker 2: The Cracking has shade over seven per game that is
- 21:44Speaker 2: seventh best in the entire NHL as well. So hope
- 21:48Speaker 2: you can join us here for the first of three
- 21:50Speaker 2: straight road games before the Olympic break and the Krack
- 21:53Speaker 2: and looking to rise to the challenge and matchup two
- 21:56Speaker 2: against Vegas. Face off is a little past seven o'clock
- 21:59Speaker 2: Pacific Ti TI, I'm Aritimus six thirty from Tea Mobile
- 22:02Speaker 2: Arena once again will be live for pregame, intermission and
- 22:05Speaker 2: postgame coverage at Tom's Watch Bar, right across from Climate
- 22:09Speaker 2: Pledge Arena. Big thank you to Darren Brown for joining
- 22:12Speaker 2: us and for Kracken this morning. I'm Mike Benton. Enjoyed
- 22:15Speaker 2: the game.
- 22:16Speaker 1: You're home for the Kraken Sports Radio ninety three point
- 22:19Speaker 1: three k j R FM.
