- 0:15Speaker 1: iHeartRadio Now.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Simon Squibb is known for one simple question, What's your dream?
- 0:21Speaker 2: That's what he asks. He's a British entrepreneur who asks
- 0:23Speaker 2: people this when he meets them on the street, and
- 0:25Speaker 2: if he likes the answer they give, then he gives
- 0:27Speaker 2: them twenty five pounds to make their dreams come true.
- 0:30Speaker 2: He's got millions of followers on social media and we've
- 0:33Speaker 2: discovered he's in New Zealand because we spotted a video
- 0:36Speaker 2: on his install where he meets a chef in a rebby.
- 0:38Speaker 2: We're a cafe.
- 0:40Speaker 3: I need to speak to the chef without you get
- 0:42Speaker 3: the chef. Yes, thank you so much.
- 0:44Speaker 4: This pastor is the best past I've ever had in
- 0:46Speaker 4: my life.
- 0:47Speaker 3: You are so talented. I have to ask you wats
- 0:50Speaker 3: your dream?
- 0:51Speaker 4: I wants you have.
- 0:56Speaker 3: I'd like to help you try and make it happen.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Right, So we watched it. We got in touch with
- 0:59Speaker 2: Simon Squbb asked him, if you're in New Zealand, can
- 1:01Speaker 2: you come on the show. He said, yes, Simon, welcome.
- 1:03Speaker 3: It's great to be here.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Simon. Why are you in the country. Have you come
- 1:07Speaker 2: here with a view to handing out dollars?
- 1:10Speaker 3: Yeah, kind of.
- 1:11Speaker 4: I have family that live in Auckland, so primarily here
- 1:15Speaker 4: to visit the family.
- 1:17Speaker 2: And so you're so you were actually here on a
- 1:19Speaker 2: family visit, but you're still doing your thing where you
- 1:21Speaker 2: hand out twenty five thousand.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I can't help it.
- 1:25Speaker 4: I love hearing people's dreams and so there's no holiday
- 1:29Speaker 4: from helping people that need it. And so yeah, I
- 1:33Speaker 4: have actually now helped four people in New Zealand with
- 1:37Speaker 4: their dreams, which is pretty exciting. And yeah, it's part
- 1:39Speaker 4: of my life. I don't have work life balance. I
- 1:42Speaker 4: just have life. So I like my work and I
- 1:44Speaker 4: like my life that I mix them together now.
- 1:46Speaker 2: So I'm in the clip that we played just before,
- 1:49Speaker 2: is a chef who you were. You were eating pasta
- 1:52Speaker 2: in a place in Auckland. Loved the pastor so much
- 1:55Speaker 2: asked for the chef said to the chef, you want
- 1:57Speaker 2: to make her dream come true. She wants to buy
- 1:59Speaker 2: the restaurant that she works in, which is for sale.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Has she bought it? Because you haven't delivered that club yet.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Has she bought it?
- 2:07Speaker 4: So the clip is out in a minute, and shall
- 2:11Speaker 4: I Shall I let.
- 2:12Speaker 3: Everyone go watch it? Or shall I? Shall I break that?
- 2:14Speaker 4: Man?
- 2:14Speaker 2: But I can't wait. You've got to tell me.
- 2:18Speaker 4: I don't want to ruin it for everyone, though they
- 2:19Speaker 4: might might like watching the whole story.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Ah No, you've got to tell me.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I've got to know, all right, all right.
- 2:28Speaker 4: The short answer is that Pink Broccoley is alive in Auckland.
- 2:36Speaker 3: It's now hers.
- 2:37Speaker 2: This is what she wanted to call her a restaurant,
- 2:39Speaker 2: Pink Broccoli, And so she's exactly my can you, I mean,
- 2:45Speaker 2: you must be aware of how life changing that is.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Like there's a woman who just randomly cooks you a
- 2:51Speaker 2: pasta in someone else's cafe, You come and eat it.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Now she owns her own place. That's amazing.
- 2:59Speaker 3: It's his fate though.
- 3:01Speaker 4: So the backstory is I went there with my family
- 3:05Speaker 4: for breakfast. I'm staying nearby an Airbnb and I just
- 3:09Speaker 4: went there for a breakfast, totally random. And then, because
- 3:13Speaker 4: you know, in the clips, we can't show every detail
- 3:15Speaker 4: because it's too much, but she popped out and said, oh, hello,
- 3:18Speaker 4: I'm such a big fan of yours. I bought your book.
- 3:20Speaker 4: We just released the book in New Zealand. So she
- 3:23Speaker 4: bought the pook and she I love it and I
- 3:25Speaker 4: have a dream. I was like, oh, thank you so much.
- 3:27Speaker 4: And then the bell went off and she had to
- 3:28Speaker 4: go into the kitchen and start cooking again. And so
- 3:31Speaker 4: I was just talking and like, oh, this is amazing.
- 3:33Speaker 3: There's a fan here. That's so sweet.
- 3:35Speaker 4: And then we said, oh, why don't we pretend to
- 3:37Speaker 4: complain about the food, which is kind of the worst
- 3:38Speaker 4: thing you can do with a fan who's a chef,
- 3:41Speaker 4: You complain about their food, right, That sounds like the
- 3:43Speaker 4: worst thing you could do. But the food was amazing,
- 3:45Speaker 4: so it was the opposite to a complaint, as we
- 3:47Speaker 4: saw in the video. And so so then I basically
- 3:51Speaker 4: didn't actually hear her full dream. So I said, what's
- 3:53Speaker 4: your dream? She tells me it's to own her own
- 3:56Speaker 4: cafe one day called Pink Bocoy, and it just got
- 3:59Speaker 4: me the name just instantly. When I hear someone's thought
- 4:01Speaker 4: about it that much, I know it has to become
- 4:04Speaker 4: a reality. And then she told me that the cafe
- 4:07Speaker 4: that she's working in it's actually for sale, which again
- 4:10Speaker 4: it's just fate, and I'm like, well, why don't why
- 4:13Speaker 4: don't you buy it. She's like, well, I haven't got
- 4:15Speaker 4: any money. I can't buy it. And I'm like, we
- 4:18Speaker 4: have to fix this. You know, I'm visualizing in my
- 4:21Speaker 4: head this branding pink Broccoli. It has to happen. The
- 4:24Speaker 4: food's amazing, she's amazing. She just doesn't have any money
- 4:28Speaker 4: to kind of make the dream and reality, and so
- 4:30Speaker 4: I feel it's my obligation to help make it happen.
- 4:33Speaker 4: So I had to put the money up to buy
- 4:36Speaker 4: the cafe and see Pink Brockley coming on.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Okay, So what do you do? What'sn't it for you?
- 4:39Speaker 2: Do you do? You take a steak in it?
- 4:43Speaker 3: I take absolutely nothing. I don't. I do invest in businesses.
- 4:49Speaker 4: It's one of the things I do is I invest
- 4:51Speaker 4: in businesses and I take equity stakes in businesses. So,
- 4:54Speaker 4: for example, I've invested in a business called Lovable, which
- 4:57Speaker 4: is actually a six billion US dollar company right now
- 4:59Speaker 4: that I invested in early. And you know, so I
- 5:02Speaker 4: do invest in businesses and take equity steaks, but that's
- 5:05Speaker 4: a tech company.
- 5:06Speaker 3: It's very scalable.
- 5:07Speaker 4: I don't want to take a dreamer's business. I'm not
- 5:10Speaker 4: a dragon on dragons then, or a shark on Sharks Tank.
- 5:13Speaker 3: I just if I could help.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Someone with a little bit of money, a little bit
- 5:16Speaker 4: of marketing, a little bit of love, a little bit
- 5:18Speaker 4: of support, a little bit of business knowledge.
- 5:20Speaker 3: You know, in.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Reality, it's not huge money. I've made a lot of
- 5:24Speaker 4: money in my life. I've been very lucky, and so
- 5:26Speaker 4: it's just giving back, you know. And I do it
- 5:29Speaker 4: because I enjoy it, and that's a selfish thing. I
- 5:32Speaker 4: really enjoy hearing people's dreams and then finding a way
- 5:35Speaker 4: to make it happen. But I also was fifteen once
- 5:38Speaker 4: and tried to start a business and didn't have any money,
- 5:41Speaker 4: didn't have any help, and it was so hard, and
- 5:44Speaker 4: so I vowed, when I make it in life, I'll
- 5:47Speaker 4: give back.
- 5:47Speaker 3: And this is what this is. Really.
- 5:49Speaker 4: It's just like helping that fifteen year old be if
- 5:50Speaker 4: you're talking to a psychiatrist, that's what they'd say, and
- 5:53Speaker 4: that's what it is really.
- 5:54Speaker 2: So how do people you know, if somebody was like, jeez,
- 5:57Speaker 2: I just need to come across Simon Scrubs radar and
- 6:00Speaker 2: it will change my life, how did they do that?
- 6:03Speaker 3: Well?
- 6:04Speaker 4: First thing I would say is most of the time
- 6:06Speaker 4: people's dreams they can make happen.
- 6:08Speaker 3: They stop making excuses.
- 6:10Speaker 4: So you know, people do make a lot of excuses
- 6:12Speaker 4: they self sabotage themselves. So just check do you really
- 6:16Speaker 4: need Simon script because a lot of the time you don't,
- 6:19Speaker 4: And so I think that's important. I don't want people
- 6:22Speaker 4: to wait for, you know, a hero to come along
- 6:24Speaker 4: and save you.
- 6:25Speaker 3: You have to save yourself. You have to take agency
- 6:27Speaker 3: over your life.
- 6:28Speaker 4: So look, if you want, if you want to get
- 6:30Speaker 4: my attention, it's it's very simple. Follow your dream and
- 6:33Speaker 4: tell the world about it. At some point we'll cross paths.
- 6:36Speaker 4: I have set up a double of dreams in a
- 6:38Speaker 4: couple of locations around the world where you can go
- 6:40Speaker 4: press a button to pitch your dream, and then we
- 6:43Speaker 4: upload it and try and help people.
- 6:44Speaker 3: You can go on a platform I built.
- 6:46Speaker 4: It costs you absolutely nothing to use it called helpbank
- 6:48Speaker 4: dot com. You go there, you tell your dream and
- 6:51Speaker 4: there's three hundred thousand entrepreneurs on there ready to try
- 6:53Speaker 4: and help you for free. So yes, you can bump
- 6:56Speaker 4: into me in the street, or you know, I can
- 6:57Speaker 4: bump into you.
- 6:58Speaker 3: That's another way.
- 6:59Speaker 4: But I always tell people a lot of the reason
- 7:01Speaker 4: I do this is to not just help the person
- 7:03Speaker 4: in the video, but to help someone watching the video
- 7:06Speaker 4: realize how easy it actually is to make your own
- 7:08Speaker 4: dream and reality and stop making excuses.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Just go for it.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Brilliant, It is so nice to talk to you. Enjoy
- 7:14Speaker 2: you stay here, and yeah, thanks for making the time
- 7:16Speaker 2: for us.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Not at all.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Thank you for doing a story and giving a shout
- 7:20Speaker 4: out to to the amazing dreamer.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Go there and eat. You will love the food.
