- The Drama Drop: What's up, guys? Welcome back to the drama drop. We got some drama going on in the ballroom with Dancing with the Stars. Val got suspended. Carrie Ann is on the hunt for lifts. And somehow Cat in the Hat is intertwined in all of this. Not to mention, Love is Blind is proving yet again that love does, in fact, have eyes. And also, I talk a little bit about the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives OC trailer that dropped. And it's looking really good. So buckle up and get ready because the drama drops now. The drama that Dancing with the Stars has been serving us this week has been Chef's Kiss. I never viewed that show to be drama, tension. And I know I've mentioned this in the past, other episodes, that I am a newbie to Dancing with the Stars. Okay. So I'm really trying to pick up on all of the lore that's going on. The history, it's very intertwined. It's like a cesspool of people that just all know each other and have been around each other for so many years. So there's a lot of history there. But looking at it just without all of that lens, to me, I'm like, it's a very wholesome, fun family competition type show. And, you know, I started the season or like the series last year. It was my first time watching it. And so obviously watching it again. And I was quite surprised to have this drama just kind of fall on my lap. I'm like, perfect. Because normally, if I'm gonna talk about dancing with the stars, it's really just kind of recapping what's going on and all of that, nothing too interesting. But Carrie Ann and Val gave us something interesting to talk about. So thank you. claps to you guys. This is perfect. Okay, so I need to backtrack a little bit because I did not understand the Carrie Ann hate, the lore. you know, it was very obvious when like the show's going on and the judges they get their scores, they're doing their judging, they're doing what they are hired to do. And there's always booze when Carrie Ann gives her feedback, her criticism, whatever. I posted on TikTok. ranting, basically saying, I don't understand the carry-and hate. You know, this is coming from somebody who is just brand new to the show. I don't know anything. And I'm looking at it at a lens of American Idol, right? You know, you had Randy, Simon Cowell and Paul Abdul. They all served a purpose. And Simon, of course, was always known as being the jerk, the one that gave the tough criticism, the one that You know, he was gonna be tough on you. Like he was going to actually critique you. He wasn't just gonna shove flowers up your butt for no reason. And that's what Carrie Ann was giving to me. And I just really didn't understand why everybody was always up in arms. I'm like, she's a judge and she's judging. We're mad for what? What are we mad at? And then I learned that there is a lot of lore to her. I guess she's very inconsistent with how she judges. Here's the thing. I am really impressed by those people that can keep up with how she judges and what sh scores and critiques she gives to who, what, where, and when. Because I couldn't tell you the score she gave to the contestant prior. You know, I'm just focusing on the now. So that probably says a lot about me and my attention span. And I need to do better. So I apologize on that behalf because I would not, unless it was just very blatantly obvious, I would never. pick that up that she is inconsistent with how she scores and what she says to certain contestants, maybe favoring certain contestants. And I guess she might hone in on a k a a pro, maybe perhaps, and be against them for a certain particular reason or season. And it just seems to be very obvious to me. It's not very obvious. So I don't know if we're just looking for problems. One thing I did learn, and I'm obviously gonna go more into it, the whole lift gate, okay, the whole lift situation. Wow, I just did not realize this was just a huge thing. So I will say, whenever the whole discourse of Jenna and Harry, and she was like, there was a lift, I myself was really confused because I was thinking back, there's so many lifts that are going on in so many dances. So I'm really confused. If my research is correct and if I'm understanding correctly, there's certain rules for different types of dances. Okay. So certain types of dances can have lifts. Like that's great. Perfect. We love that. Other dances can't. So I don't know if we're just really confused as a fan base, what is allowable and what isn't. And that's not any fault of our own. I think. Whoever is running this whole production and the rules that are in place, maybe, maybe just like send out a little memo, a little discourse disclaimer, what's allowable, what isn't, because I could definitely see where that gets very confusing and then also very frustrating. And wait a minute, you were upset about this person, but not that person. Anyways, so I just, I'm really just trying to understand. I'm still. Not fully on board with the carry and hate. I am fully, fully on board with there being somebody that's actually critiquing because it's super annoying. And I'll be honest, I love Bruno. Okay. And then Derek, I like they're great, but more times than not, they're just over the top complimentary. And to me, that's kind of boring. You know, like there's no excitement. There's no like, ooh, or like, let's see if you can. progress and work on that moving forward. I don't want to hear how great everybody is. Like that's annoying. And also to put some people back into reality. I need to work a little bit harder. I need to step it up. I need to make this sort of change, this sort of change. And then they're absolutely gobsmacked if they get sent home. You know, I just I really appreciate a person who stand 10 to 10 toes down on what they want to say. You know, she obviously does not let the hate, the booze, whatever the opinions are get to her because she stays critiquing and we need somebody like that. I don't understand why there's an issue. When you're a judge, you're supposed to judge, right? There's that whole aspect of it. Giving you critiques, feedback, whatever. Of course, there's always a a way to do it. Maybe snarky is not the best way. I don't know. But I I'm still I'm still trying to understand the hate. And maybe it's my fault for not starting dancing with the stars way back when. But just from what I've seen, I don't necessarily agree. I'll be completely I've tried to change my perspective and put my mindset in to the idea of she's being very inconsistent and she's showing favorites to certain people, but At the same time, again, I couldn't tell you th there's one person going, she scores, then the next person goes, she's giving their score. I couldn't even tell you what she said to the person before. Like, I don't know how people remember that or keep up with that. Maybe I need to start taking notes. I don't know. I guess I just never took it that seriously to really pay attention fully to the critiques and be like, okay, you applied that, you are moving forward in this dance. Taking the criticism that was given to you the week prior. I don't know. It's just kind of crazy. But, anyways, so all that to say is leading us to where we are right now, what I'm gonna talk about with the whole liftgate and the drama that came with it. So sure, if you don't even watch, I'm sure this has come across your desk. And yeah, it's it's kind of crazy. There's opinions all across the board, and I am kind of Somewhere in the middle, I see a little bit of oath. So obviously I need to talk about that. So Jenna Johnson, okay, that's the pro dancer. I don't want it to get confused with Jenna DeWan, who is the celebrity, the star, if you will. Jenna Johnson, she's paired with Harry. They did their whole dance. They did whatever, their little routine. Perfect. Love that. Beautiful, great, happy for them. You know, they're going through the judges, they're saying all their things. And then, of course, we get to Carrie Ann, who You know, she more than likely has something to say. And she talks about a lift. She's like, there was a lift, you know, can't do that. And Jenna very quickly reacts to that as like a lift. Like, girlfriend, what are you talking about? I didn't even recognize this lift, seemed very minor. I don't know. Again, I'm just I'm watching this so removed from a professional standpoint and just watching it out of pure enjoyment and entertainment. I'm not. Looking at feet, backs, facial expression. Well, maybe facial expressions like Whitney lashes. She's so good at that. But I'm just I'm not looking at it in that sort of lens. So it's really hard for me to kind of put my mind into that. So I was very quickly, what lift is she talking about? And why is this like crazy? That's I could have sworn we were doing lifts all last season. Like what? And then what I thought was interesting is when Jenna kind of You know, side-eyed that and questioned that with her face of what are you talking about? Carrie Ann was very quickly to, she had her little, her little paper and her rule book. Yeah, says the definition of a lift and what ki is allowable and what isn't. And people did not did not like that very well. And do does is that a thing? Can somebody let me know? Is that a thing that Carrie Ann has done? I don't recall that being a thing last season. Not sure in seasons prior, they they just have this rule book out, ready to go. The way she whipped to whatever the rules were about the the lift so quickly was really impressive. And it's like, did she know how I I don't know. You know what I mean? It's just kind of crazy how quickly that that she went to that page. She had her little definition and she was ready to go. but Whatever. Okay. You know, she's the judge. Like does her v voice really matter because allegedly it's all about America and how we vote? I mean, if you want to talk about how many votes are racking in, do you think their maximum of like thirty whatever to thirty to forty, depending on how many judges is that really making that much of a f change? I don't know. I would love to see the numbers actually. But yeah, it's just the critique was just very interesting in the way she did it. It was she was she knew that she was going to have to defend herself very quickly, the way that she responded so fast. I honestly didn't have an issue with it. I could is this terrible of me? I could care less how she critiques. I truly could care less. You know what mean? Like, does it really matter as long as you have the fan votes? But again, I don't know what goes on behind the scenes. We've never seen these alleged fan votes. We've never been able to see the numbers. We've never been able to see the data to be able to confirm or deny, yeah, you actually deserved to stay. Like you got those votes, or if there's any rigging going on behind this. I truly, I don't know. So it's just funny to me, people getting up in arms about the critiques because as far as I'm concerned, it's not all about the critiques. It is about, you know, being entertaining, the fans loving you, maybe having a good storyline. There is more to that. Cause if we want to talk about critiques, I mean, think of the people that have stayed for a really long time, or think of the people that have left and should have stayed. So I don't know why we're really all up in arms, but that little moment of lift and then her giving the definition, I was living for it because I was like, ooh, there is tension. That is uncomfortable. Love it. I love it. I wish I was in the stay The stands, the audience, I would have loved to been there for that because that was super uncomfortable. But Jenna, I mean, she's a professional, okay? I'm sure maybe it just caught her off guard. I don't know. You know, it's one of those like knee-jerk reactions. She truly was dumbfounded by it, but she took the criticism well. You know, she's like there was no reaction about it in a negative way. She took the criticism. And was like, I get it. Okay, thanks. But Jenna's husband, okay, so now we have to go with the whole cesspool and the trying to, you know, triangle and link everybody all together. So we have Jenna Johnson, okay. She's the professional dancer. Then we have Val. He's also the professional dancer. His partner is Jenna DeWan. Are we confused yet? Anyways, Val You know, he's sticking up for his wife. He did not appreciate the way that Carrie Ann spoke to Jenna, and he made it very well known online. Okay. He was making comments left and right. He was saying, put respect on her name. You know, he's doing this all over TikTok. he's liking things that are negative about Carrie Ann. he even says Carrie Ann was tripping talking to her like that. So He's not even just talking about how he just doesn't like her. Like he's very specific and very defensive for how Carrie Ann spoke to Jenna. but whatever, have your opinions. I think it's kind of crazy that you are, at least during the season, you know, that's your coworker at the end of the day. At least I think I don't know where the judges fall in line, but you work with these people. And this is in the middle of the season. Like this is currently happening. Like you are still a dancer. And here's what I don't like. Now you're putting your partner, Jenna DeWan, in potential jeopardy. And also your wife. Like, great. Defend your wife all day. There's a better way to do it. And as much as I love the mess. Like I'm here for it. But at the same time, what do you expect is going to come from that? I mean, a lot of people, I'm sure, were just absolutely Val, yeah, speak your truth because of the disdain that they have for Carrie Ann is so intense that there was just kind of, you know, rose-colored glasses when it comes to Val and all of his comments. But he takes it way further. You know, he posts a TikTok. I mean, it's deleted. And says the quote, you almost saw fresh prince enter the ballroom last night. So if we want to dissect this, it's not very clear, direct, what that actually could mean. Is there a fresh prince episode that I'm unaware of that has some sort of similar context? I don't know. We really want to break it down. We can boil it down to Fresh Prince. Okay, that equals Will Smith. Okay. What did he do that had this really huge scandal that everybody will never forget? Yeah, he slapped, punched, whatever Chris Rock at the Oscars when Chris Rock was talking about Will Smith's wife, Jada Pickett Smith. So you kind of put the correlation together that, like he didn't outright say he was gonna do anything physical. He didn't outright say he was gonna slap her. He didn't outright say any of that. So you kind of, you know. Can put two and two together, use your cognitive skills to see what he was insinuating. Okay. Yeah, he was insinuating assault. and obviously that's when Val kind of really messed up here. You know, everybody was all for him, defending his wife, going against Carrie-Ann, speaking whatever he wanted to speak, his truth about Carrie Ann being very condescending to Jenna. But then you throw in something that insinuates. Violence or assault, especially against a woman, that's where everybody is going to lose their mind. And actually, I take that back. You want to know something interesting? I'm sorry, I'm literally eating my words as I'm speaking out loud. I actually didn't see a lot of discourse about this happening. I actually saw a lot of people say that the response after Val made his comment, because I'll get into that. Well, spoiler, he got suspended for a week from Dancing with the Stars, okay? A lot of people were saying that that reaction response to Val's statement was dramatic. I actually was so shocked. I was really shocked by that because you know, we don't know how to pick a lane. Internet does not know how to pick a lane. I swear every day the comment section can surprise me with how we interpret things, how we view things, and what our opinions are. Anyways, so Val got in trouble, basically, and he got suspended for a week from dancing with the stars. you know, he published like a public apology, a very normal PR stunt. What is it that I always say? That dang blank screen or the black screen with the with the text, whatever. but you know, he explains that he had zero intention. To physically do anything. It was more of just in the same sentiment of keep my name, keep my wife's name out of your mouth, which okay, you could have just said that. But why did you really have to say anything? Because I feel like you're just putting your partner in jeopardy. And your wife, like, if she didn't have an issue, don't make a big fuss out of it. You know, again, it's your wife. You're trying to defend her, great. But at the same time, This is a show. It's supposed to be fun. It's really not that serious at the end of the day. But here again, at the same time, I'm like, I'm loving the mess. I'm loving the chaos. Like, thank you. Because without this, everything is always just so wholesome for the most part. And I'm sorry. That's a little boring sometimes. You know what I mean? but, anyways, so there was I saw some things back and forth, and I couldn't for sure figure out. Which one was the actual truth? Because I did see somewhere that Carrie Ann was the one that went to HR to talk about the whole Val situation and what are we gonna do? Because here's the thing, you know, you want to talk about Carrie Ann and it's like, like that was really dramatic. But actually, which yes, because do I personally think in any given moment Val was actually going to walk up to Carrie Ann and physically assault her? No. No. But in this climate, you know, you really have to watch your words and what you say. And if this was any other job, any other corporate job, whatever type job, retail job, whatever, and you were kind of getting insinuation that there was a threat to you, you'd probably go to HR, right? You wouldn't just let it slide by. So I wouldn't necessarily blame her if she was. Kind of, you know, what are we gonna do about this? Like, this is kind of crazy. I mean, this is a family show, pub, like it's in public. This wasn't private conversation. He's blasting this out on the internet. we need to address this question mark. But then on the other hand, I've also seen that that actually wasn't the case. That production went ahead and they did the investigation and they took matters into their own hands. And I don't know what suspending. one week is really gonna do. I mean, did it did he need to be suspended? No. Maybe he needed to write five hundred times on a piece of paper. I will not assault, you know, carry whatever. I don't know what the due diligence really would have needed to be done. But, you know, I think they're basically setting a precedent for the pros and maybe even the star well, I guess the stars it wouldn't that wouldn't make sense if for them to be suspended. I feel like they would just kick them off because I don't, I don't know how all that would work, but they're pr setting a precedent for these pros that you can't just say whatever you want. You know, there's going to be repercussions, but at what cost? Because ultimately this affected Jenna DeWan. and she had a new partner. She had Alan for the evening for dedication night. And what's kind of funny about that is. It was a really good dance and people really loved her with Alan. but before I go more into dedication, I just want to say like two things can be true, you know, even three things can be true because Carrie In can criticize. She's a judge, she is allowed to critique. That is quite literally her job. And also, how boring would it be if all three of those judges were just overly complimentary? Then what are we doing here? Why is there even a judge? Why aren't we just all Going at it and dancing and free balling it and then we just vote as fans, whatever. Otherwise, what's the point? There would be no reason to have all three judges always be so over-the-top friendly, standing up and giving flowers. Like let's use our cognitive skills here and think, okay, a judge critiquing, that might be acceptable. If she's inconsistent, I can't say one way or the other. I can't say one way or the other if she's inconsistent. But at the end of the day, well, who cares? Truly, who cares? You know, just maybe she just forgets what she said the week before or whatever. I don't know. But at the end of the day, take all that aside. You need somebody who's going to give criticism. Otherwise, what are we doing? What's the point of the judges? so, anyways, she can be inconsistent, whatever. I don't care. She can even be a little bit condescending. I don't care. You gotta have somebody like that. That's how Simon Cowell was. And quite honestly. He was the best judge. I mean, let's just call it like it is. And then Val can be justified in wanting to defend his wife. he didn't appreciate it. He's sticking up for her. You know, that's what a man does. Did Jenna ask for that? Probably not. She's probably like, thank you, great. This is really annoying. But also, he can cross a line. He can cross a line. You can say something that might just be a little bit, a little bit too much. And you know, when you're referencing assaults in this climate and you are a a public figure, you're a professional dancer, you're on a TV show that's currently happening live, you just you just gotta think about what you're saying. and whether she took it to HR or not. I don't know. I just think of it in a lens of any other job and you were in that situation, you would probably say something to HR or somebody that could do something about that. That's that's that's all I'm saying. Anyways, so moving on to dedication night, okay. I was really curious to see how they were going to basically say that Val was not going to be there this week. The most brushed off thing you could possibly imagine. Like if you were somebody who was not online, you would have no clue that Val got suspended because of his actions, his words. And especially that it was directed towards Carrie Ann. I was like, I'm so curious to know how they're going to even bring this up, you know? just very swiftly, Val is not going to be with us tonight. He is not gonna be with us tonight, this week, whatever. So Jenna DeWan is dancing and doing her dedication night dance with Alan, another pro dancer. That was pretty much it. That was really all we got from that. and so whatever. I mean, I don't even know what you could say. Cause what could you really say in that moment? You can't say, hey, Val's not gonna be here this week. Did you know that he kind of insinuated that he was going to assault Carrie Ann, one of our judges? And then how do you move forward the rest of the show? Like if your intention is to only suspend him for one week and then you're gonna bring him back, I guess you can't really just shine a light on what he did. So I guess that was the best way they possibly could have done it. It just, it was just those who are online and know the situation, I was just like, a little, a little, but yeah. So that was I don't know, just silly. And then spoiler alert, nobody went home. Shocking. Is that a thing? Do they only do that on dedication night? I can't remember last year. I should have gone back and looked. But Yeah, I couldn't remember if because I know that there's usually a night, one of the performances, that nobody goes home. And then of course, you know that's gonna lead to a double elimination night. I just can't remember if it's standard that it's on dedication night. I had a feeling nobody was gonna go home. Everybody's dances were very emotional. The room it was heavy, it was just very intense. I could not imagine them being like, all right, that was super intense. Great story, great dance. You got me all up in tears. Now you're gone. so it doesn't shock me that nobody went home. But yeah, so next week there's gonna be a double elimination and it's also horror movie night. I am so excited. I can't wait. I love Halloween so much. But yeah, so anyways, going, we're just gonna start with Jenna Dewan. I'm not gonna talk about in depth all of them, just kind of really the highlights. So Jenna Dewan, she danced with Alan, and it's it was just funny because the dance was really good, and I was curious to see how Carrie Ann was going to judge and critique Jenna DeWan. I didn't have a feeling that she was going to Put it against her, how Val, you know, with the whole situation with Val, I kind of figured that she was probably going to be even more positive because Jenna was with a different dancer. So yeah, I mean, Alan, he like had to step in. He had to be her partner. And I was kind of curious to see how this was gonna go. I mean, when you're a dancer and you're so used to your partner, you know, you're you learn how to work with them and All of the things, how it was gonna mesh with somebody brand new. but yeah, it it Carrie Ann gave Jenna a 10. And I can't help but think that was just to have a little dig, you know? I just feel like, ooh, you danced with this other professional dancer and it brought out the best in you. Here's a 10, girlfriend. so I I don't know. I just felt like, ooh. Would she have given her a 10 if Val was there? I don't know. so did she genuinely look better with Alan or was it shade? We'll never know. I guess we'll have to see, you know, with her inconsistencies, how we move forward for the rest of the season. If sh if, you know, you know, sh as long as she's in the show. but yeah, everybody else too. I feel like I saw a lot of comments saying that she danced really well with Alan. So that's super interesting. So I'm also curious to know like, I wonder if they could change the format of the show when it comes to pairing the stars with their pro dancer, because everybody works differently with each other, you know? And some people need different types of coaches or instructors or whatever. Like you can learn better from this type of coach, instructor, trainer versus another one. And that would be really interesting if they did more of a compatibility, situation. And maybe they do. So please let me know if they do, because I'm telling you, I just don't really know much about dancing with the stars. From what I understood, if I I could be completely wrong, it depends on the ranking on the pro dancers and like where they got eliminated the season prior and how they get to either maybe pick their celebrity or star or how the match, I don't really know. But I wonder if there's any sort of Dancing compatibility moment, you know, whenever it comes to the pairing. But a lot of people thought that their dance was really great. And then my next one that I was like, how is Carrie Ann also going to judge the other Jenna, Jenna Johnson, Val's wife? I was so interested to see because let's not forget, this is where all the controversy began. Carrie Ann's judgment and critique of Jenna Johnson, but she was extremely complimentary. of her choreography and choreography? Wow. Choreography. Am I okay? Am I okay? Choreography. and she just said that she did really well and she incorporated the foxtrot technique really well with Harry's story. It was very storytelling. It was a very sweet moment that he had with his parents, his wife, his daughter. I just thought it was A really great dance. and I just found it very interesting that she was very, very nice, you know. and you know, here's the thing does this make Carrie Ann's critique of last year or not last year, my gosh, last week valid. You know, it's like she took critiques. That Carrie Ann gave her, applied it, same with hair, you know, and she did really well this week. So my thing is, is is it inconsistency that she's doing, or are certain dancers improving, or maybe they're backtracking? and also too, are we taking in consideration the type of dance it is? Like maybe certain things are okay in some types of dances and other things aren't. And so it's like, what's the type of dance? You know, if you're finding a discrepancy in her feedback, were the dances the same? You know, like I feel it's very layered and way more complex than we as fans and viewers even know. but I mean, yeah, one could argue did her criticism work because she was very pleased with the way Jenna Johnson's dance was. And yeah, she gave she gave it a 10. So I mean, what can you do? but it's just funny because Val got suspended for defending Jenna from the critique, and she did really well. okay. Also, too, it is not lost on me the irony, the irony of Tatiana and her dance. And it was so sweet that she danced with Alfonso, as we all know, the great wonderful show of Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and they were honoring. Their dad, you know, the character Uncle Phil, James Avery, absolutely loved it. I thought it was so sweet. I love that show. I love that show so, so, so much. Told my husband, I was like, I need to binge this again. It's so good, so funny. But the irony of it being Fresh Prince, the show, and Val's comment. I almost, you know, Fresh Prince almost showed up in that ballroom last night. And then we had the dedication night, and it's surrounded by the show Fresh Prince, two people in the show Fresh Prince. I was just like, Ooh, ooh. And 'cause you know, with especially with it only being one week later. I don't know. I just thought that that was that was pretty good. okay. And then I want to talk about Tyler Cameron. I thought his dance was so good. J it just was really emotional. I didn't, you know, going into it, think that I was gonna feel really not feel anything. Obviously, I feel things, I have emotions, but I just didn't think it was gonna be anything that I was going to really have a lot of opinions or thoughts about. But I Thought the way that they did the pregnancy announcement because he danced. Sorry, I'm like jumping ahead. I'm just assuming everybody's just watched all of it or just knows. Tyler Cameron, he dedicated the dance to his mom, who suddenly passed away. She had an aneurysm. So it was very sudden, unexpected, super sad. And he is now engaged. He has a fiance. Her name is Tate. And basically he's dedicating this to his mom, but he said that he sees a lot of traits. And qualities in Tate that he did in his mom, and he's so excited to make her his wife and the future mother of their children. So it was very sweet. But the dance is what got me. It was just really beautiful, very sweet. But at the end, I was like, my gosh, stop! Is that a pregnancy announcement? I wasn't sure. It was like, did they already announce a pregnancy elsewhere? And you know, this was just kind of a part of it, or is this the announcement? Right now, like are we all finding this out together? And spoiler alert, we did. We all found it out together at once in a room collectively. And I was like, my gosh, that's crazy. That's so sweet. And then when they were doing the judges, or the scoring for the judging, Alfonso was like, Not only do we get the pregnancy announcement, surprise, we're gonna do the gender reveal. And I had butterflies because I was like, my gosh, like I really hope it's a girl, especially just given the idea of, you know, he was dedicating this to his mom, just kind of, you know, he was really like appreciating the women in his life. And I felt it would be a very full circle moment if, you know, she was pregnant with a girl and there was pink confetti everywhere. And it was just really sweet. And you could just see all the emotions. Tate, his fiance, was very speechless. It was just, you could just feel the intense emotion in the room. And Me not really having any sort of connection to Tyler Cameron or his story or his where he comes from, like with The Bachelorette. I just, you know, I was like, okay. But watching this dance, I was very yeah, I was in my feels with it. I thought it was so sweet. And I'm really excited for him and his fiance. And I thought that that was such a clever way to do a pregnancy announcement and also a gender reveal. Yeah, I thought that that was very creative and just very special and something that they'll never, never forget. But yeah, there was a lot of a lot of emotional whiplash with that. and then I don't really have much to say on Mara's dance. Like I it was a good dance. There just wasn't really like a lot that I want to touch on other than the fact that I thought it was absolutely hilarious that Carrie Ann called out a lift. And here's the thing, I gotta give her credit. She didn't back down at all. Like she's like, no, lift, lift girlfriend, lift. And please do like stay. Was she inconsistent? Dare I say, she seemed consistent in that moment. I don't know. I don't know. But she complimented the dance and then casually threw in that there was a lift before moving into her to her critique. And I just I thought that that was kind of funny because I clocked it too. I was like, was that a lift? And she mentioned it. She did. She did. And I respect her for it. Thank you. I just thought that that was just kind of funny. I was like, no. Not liftgate again. And she didn't ignore it. She committed to the bit and just said, hey girlfriend, there's a lift. and then okay. This is the one that I was. Most looking forward to Julia Styles Dedication to Heath Ledger. Now, before I get into this one, I just have to something that you don't know about me. Unless you, if you know, you know. But most people watching this, hearing this, whatever, probably don't. There was a time, okay, before Heath Ledger passed away. I I don't want to use the word obsessed, but I was obsessed. I was obsessed. Heath Ledger and Johnny Depp were my guys, okay? Loved everything about them. And Heath Ledger, I just, yes, okay. My celebrity crush. I had one of my friends, she liked made me this collage poster of him, all these pictures of him. I watched 10 Things I Hate About You so many times, over and over and over, absolutely. Just loved him. Dark Knight. I first of all, let me just back up because that came out after he passed away, but full intention to go see it. And I am not a superhero movie, Marvel, whatever you want to call it, like that whole type of thing. Like that would never be a movie that I would be like, I need to go see this. So as soon as I knew that he was going to be. The Joker, I immediately was like, I cannot wait. I can't wait to see this immediately. Yes. And so, and when it did finally come out, I think I saw it in theaters three times. Three times, I want to say. Yep. I was obsessed, obsessed. But the eerie thing about this whole thing, like with Heath Ledger and my obsession, I just truly I loved him so much. Whenever I I went to a movie and it was when the Dark Knight was having like the preview. Okay. It was still a preview. Kid you not. I look at my friend and I go, my gosh, I love him so much. I don't know what I would do if anything ever happened to him. Fast forward a couple months, something happened to him. And I will never forget it. I will never forget it. I found out the news. And you know, news. The way we got news that day, you know, it was still MySpace days. Okay. And I got the news right before I was heading to volleyball practice. And my gosh, like I couldn't even function in volleyball practice. I was so sad. I just couldn't believe it. Like it was so crazy to me. And I just was so ridiculous, okay. Literally for his birthday after his passing, which is in April, by the way, I made a shirt. Okay. I made my mom take me to Hobby Lobby. I got some glitter glue, a plain shirt, and wrote, Happy birthday, Heath Ledger. Like rest in peace. I wish I still had it, but that was super embarrassing that I did that. But I was very loyal, very committed. Anyways, so all that to say, just a little background on that. I was just, no, no. Am I gonna be prepared for this Heath Ledger dedication? And yeah, I loved that Julia Stiles dedicated this to Heath Ledger. And you want to know something? I saw a lot of people online talk about, that seems performative. Was she really that close to Heath Ledger? I didn't know that they were friends. I didn't know that they even talked after 10 Things I hate about you. Here's the thing, I refuse to believe that it's performative. I refuse to believe it. And you know what? I mean, I think she should. What do we mainly know her from? At least for me, I I mean, I I know a lot of people probably say the last dance, but I know her from 10 things I hate about you. Like that is Julia Styles to me. She is 10 things I hate about you. And when you think 10 things I hate about you, you think Keith Ledger. So regardless if she was super close post that movie. I think it was appropriate that she dedicated it to him. I think it was, I I don't know. I think it was very fitting. Like not everybody has to dedicate it to a family member. Okay. You know, I think it even is more touching almost because it's same with like Tatiana. Like, obviously, like that was her TV dad. Very different. You know, they had a lot of years together. But you know. What do the fan you when you're looking at it from a fan perspective too, we all appreciate and admire Heath Ledger's work. You know, I only hear positive things about him when people would talk about how they worked with him, or even when you just view him as a fan and you look at all of the movies that he did, you know, a very complex actor and unfortunately had a passed away like way too soon. So I just, and you know, when you look at nostalgia, 10 things I hate about you, like I said, I feel like she. If she did it performative, I don't mind. I refuse to believe it's performative, but I think it was appropriate the person that she chose to dedicate it to. Because if we know where her lore comes from or what we view her as, like you for sure think of 10 things I hate about you. And then obviously you're gonna correlate that to Heath Ledger. And he's just an actor gone way too soon. Not even just an actor. He was just a person gone way too soon. And yeah, I thought the dedication was super sweet. And I was super curious to know who was gonna come out on stage. Cause as we're watching all these dances, cause keep in mind she was the very last dance. And and you know, everybody had like someone come out whether dedicating it to them or if there was a relation to the dedication, you know, Tatiana, she had Alfonso come with her because obviously Uncle Phil, James Avery, he passed. And, you know, they had they shared that on screen TV dad. So I was I was like, who's coming out on stage? And when it, when she did her dance and it stopped to, you know, when she's in the movie, Ten Things I Hate About You, giving her poem, I suppose, where she's, you know, super hurt and talking to Heath Ledger in the sh in the movie. I was like, my gosh, I'm getting chills. Cause it's her crying, and then it pans over, she turns around, and then you just see the rest of "10 Things I Hate About You" cast gagged, absolutely gagged. I got chills. My husband was like, Are you okay? Hair was standing on my arm. Okay. I was like, the like it just was such, I felt like a heavy moment. And especially for somebody like me. Who was very obsessed with Heath Ledger and absolutely Ten Things I Hate About You is one of my top movies. Used to watch it all the time. It felt even more just, I don't know. I don't know. It was a very special moment. And for some reason, I am very I think a lot of us are. Any of us in our 30s, hold on to nostalgia as much as we can. So when we get any sort of dose of nostalgia, it just, I don't know. It's So obviously that was very nostalgic for me and I felt very emotional and I absolutely loved it. but one thing I do have to address in all of the emotional dances and dedications, what the hell were they thinking? Throwing in that cat in the hat performance. I'm sorry, can we read the room? That was crazy, right? Like we are all on the same page that the fact that they added cat in the hat. In this dedication, I like we're wiping our tears. That was the quickest way for me to be like, this is so unserious. What? Why why did we do that? I was absolutely floored that we had a cat in the hat situation. I didn't really understand that at all. I have notes on it because I was trying to figure out how to pronounce. I had to like write. This hold on, I need to find it. Okay, Sochi, because the way the spelling is of the artist, the singer, I could I was like I am second guessing myself. It's spelt really, it's like X-O-C-H-I-T-L, but it's Sochi. So I was like, I need to like make sure I put that in so I can say this correctly. But they're promoting Cat in the Hat, which don't get me wrong, I'm super excited to see it. I want to take my stepdaughter go see it. I think it'll be fun, whatever. You know, we need a little light, we need a little like fluff in our life, some whimsy. But that was a crazy time to do that. If anything, the horror nights would have been good, even though I mean, when you think of costume wise, you know, it would have fit the theme of Halloween, I guess. And some people, dare I say, think cat in the hat is scary. I hear a lot of people talk about how they think the cat in the hat ride in Universal Studios is scary. I feel like that would have fit a lot more appropriately. So I was just very taken back by it. I was like, this cannot be real. This cannot be real. And I don't mean to brag, but we put a little funny meme out on the Instagram and TikTok, you know. So be sure to go follow and check that out and like it and repost it. because, you know, we didn't even tag when I say we. Me and my husband, because he helps run that. But didn't even tag anybody in Dancing with the Stars. And they are organically finding it because it was so ridiculous with the whole cat in the hat random dance just thrown in the middle of that. Very bizarre, but whatever. I just it's like there could have been any other way. Cause it's still a few more weeks until that movie comes out. So I was just. Very confused, but you know, whatever. I don't make the rules. Nobody consults me on anything. So forget it. all right. So Love is Blind is out. And here's the thing. I don't really have too much to say as of right now because I'll be honest, the show doesn't really pick up momentum until after the proposals and they all go on their little honeymoon vac vacation, whatever you want to call it, and all meet each other. So I and there's more episodes that dropped yesterday. So I'm going to be picking that up on the next episode. I'm super excited. I do have to just say that we know for a fact like, are we really still asking the question if love is blind? Because I think I think we know the answer that love, in fact, does have eyes. I mm that's pretty evident. And If you guys haven't started watching the season, you need to. I know it's just kind of like the same rinse repeat type of situation, but I still love the cringe. I'm here for it. Jax, Jacqueline, but she goes by Jax and Stu was quite the interesting duo. I really am not sure why she agreed to a proposal because she didn't seem like she was feeling him. Like it just, their interactions in the pods were very cringy to me. And the way he spoke about himself, I just was like, this isn't it. You know, and it's like, at what point do these people think, okay, I'm gonna give it a shot. I wanna extend my shelf life on TV in this show. Like, who knows what will come of this after the fact. That very well could be a lot of the mindset. And then, you know, once they meet face to face, it's like, I cannot fake this any longer. Like, I gotta go. And that's exactly what happened to Jax. She matched with Stu, I shouldn't even say matched. Got proposed to to stew. And when she met him, my gosh, it was super uncomfortable because you could just tell she was not in it. And yeah, this girl was like, hey, I'm not going to Mexico actually. And can you actually not give this dude my number? Give him zero ways to contact me. Cause I gotta go. And I don't wanna be mean. But here's the thing: you are being me. The producers, you know, they're trying to like get anything out of her, and they're like, Are you not attracted to him? She's like, I don't want to be mean. That you just answered that right there. You could just be like, No, I'm really not. You saying you don't want to be mean is not not being mean because you're answering that right there. And you being like, I don't want to even talk to him. I don't want him to have any form to contact me is crazy. but yeah, so for Jax, physical attraction actually does matter. Love is blind, but again, I was really confused because it just didn't seem like there was any sort of connection in the pods to begin with. So my thought was, okay, extending the shelf life for the TV show. Sure, whatever. but I'll be curious to see how this moves forward. Like I said, I have more to talk about in my next week's episode because more episodes are gonna drop. And I think we got a little tidbit, a little preview of Jax maybe meeting up with Stu after the fact. I don't know. I couldn't fully tell who she was meeting up with, but obviously she didn't move forward with the proposal and the engagement and get married. So her storyline continues somewhere in the mix. So curious to see how that unfolds. But yeah, I mean, like I said, the pods are so hard to kind of Unless something super crazy happens, which I don't know. I just feel like this cast also too seems like they're doing a lot of baiting to kind of figure out what people look like, fishing for hints, you know. I don't know. which again, that's against the rules. No. I don't know why nobody's stepping in in production being like, hey, you can't talk about that. You can't make those sort of comments or kind of insinuate certain things or backgrounds maybe. but yeah, I don't know. I don't know. So for me right now, the pods it's just kind of whatever because you're these conversations happen so quick and they're like, I love you, I'm in love with you, I want to marry you. It happens so fast. And you know, we're really just getting small glimpses. So it's so hard for me to really fully create opinions strongly. until they meet each other and they go on vacation together and then they all intermingle. Like feel that's really where I will thrive in the thoughts and opinions. one other couple that I do want to point out that I'm very interested to see how this goes is Sarah and John. I'm just very interested in their compatibility because they just seem like they didn't really align at all in terms of just how they want to. raise children, how they want to live their life, ideologies, you know, they talk about different things, political issues and the social climate and all that. And they seem to really not align. However, they got engaged. So they are proposed to so like they are going to Mexico. So it leads me to think that, you know, there were a lot of other conversations that moved forward to either see where they could be like, okay, You may not agree with me on this, but we find a lot of other common ground and other situations and whatever that it will be compatible. So I'm I am curious to know how that will work because you know that could that's that's kind of hard if you don't really align fully or even if you can't find a common ground. You know, you may think one way, I may think another, but and you can respect that and you can still have a life together. Okay, great. So, but I feel like a lot of people fully can't, you know, you gotta at least be able to find some sort of middle way. so we'll see. We'll see. Can, you know, can the emotional connection overcome their views, which I find so interesting. You know, it's it is very interesting to see how you can be so compatible with somebody on so many levels. But if it comes to something, i.e., politics, And just things of that nature, beliefs think differently on that. How quickly a relationship can crumble. Or if it can still the emotional compatibility and everything else is that much more strong, that that other stuff doesn't matter. so we'll see. I'll have more to report on that. And then the last thing I kind of just want to. Really touch on is the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Orange County teaser trailer that came out. Okay. So I know I have said that I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this. I mean, obviously, regardless, I'm dabbling. Okay. Don't let me confuse you. but I said, you know, how is this season really gonna work? How is it going to mesh in the storylines? Are they gonna be authentic? Are they gonna be real? Because these people are. really friends before all of this came to fruition, you know. cause the Utah version, they were friends before. Like they had friendships and history together. These people, you know, Jen Affleck, she's kind of the pri the bridge to this. She has two different friend groups kind of meshing them in together, which that's a recipe for chaos. But now I'm looking at it at a lens of this could be a lot better, honestly. You have some ties with some of the people, but not everybody. I feel like there could be, you know, less. I'm trying to find the words, maybe less loyalty, less inclination to feel like you need to protect certain people, protect what you know about them. You feel more inclined to maybe be controv not controversial, sorry, confrontational, like you don't have an issue with creating. Drama or calling people out, or he said, she said. Do you know what I mean? Like I feel maybe the lack of historical friendship and involvement with each other will create better storylines. Cause I was hesitant at first on how is this gonna go? Is this gonna be believable? Are these issues drama? Is it going to feel real or very curated? I'm s I'm having a little bit higher hopes, you know, as we move forward. also, I love the tagline. Come for the sun, stay for the shade. Incredible. That's actually genius. That's actually genius. So, yeah, I mean, if you guys haven't watched the teaser trailer, I highly suggest that you do. There it just seems to be very good. I mean, as most teaser trailers are, but it just seems like. There is going to be a lot of mess, a lot of drama. And I am super excited about it. We're getting 10 episodes. It's coming in November 12th. And I absolutely will be probably binging it all in one weekend. I don't doubt that for a second. but I, you know, I really don't feel like it's going to have the same vibe at all that it is with the Utah brand. So again, My only discourse or disdain or whatever is the fact that they can call it Secret Lives of Wormen Wives. And maybe the only reason they did that is because Jen is the bridge. You know, she's gapping going from Utah, moving to Orange County. I still think they could have called it something else. but I just don't think there's gonna be the whole TikTok situation because you know, Utah, they all did their TikTok dances in the TikTok. Mom talk group, like I don't think TikTok is really having any sort of play in this situation at all. but so I don't know. And with the Utah one, it seems it's just a mom group trying to maintain friendships and consistently having each other's back and supporting each other. And if there's conflict, how they're going to rebuild the friendship and patch things up. And this one seems like it's two separate groups coming together and clashing. That's what it seems like. So I am super, super excited about it now. Like I'm getting more and more excited the closer that we get. It looks really good. So yeah, I can't wait to talk about that with you all. So be sure to watch it. Stay tuned, November 12th. That's right around the corner. You know, it seemed like forever. When this was first being brought to light, I just can't believe it's around the corner. It'll be here quite literally before we know it. So there's gonna be so much more to talk about. I'm so excited. but yeah, so let me know what you think. Like, let me know what your thoughts are for Secret Lives of Mormon Wives OC. Do you think it's gonna be better than the Utah version? Do you think it's gonna even be comparable? Like it's just gonna be its own two separate entities, and we shouldn't even really classify it as a Mormon Wives situation. Also, too, do you care if they're Mormons or not? That's another thing. I don't like branding it as Mormon wives when it doesn't seem like a lot of them are Mormon or practicing Mormonism. I just I don't feel like it should be put in a box like that. but I'm curious what your thoughts are. So yeah. And do we think they can create the same magic that our core Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Girls gave us. Do we think it can be duplicated, if not better? I don't know. I don't know. I'm gonna try to watch it in the lens of separating the two. I'm gonna try to not compare it to Utah because aside from Jen being on there and Macy's sister, I think it's gonna be its own entity. Like I said, it's gonna be its basically its own franchise. It's gonna have a its own set of issues and storylines. And I'm gonna look at it in that lens and try not to compare the two. So yeah. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm super, super excited. More drama. Yay. Okay. Now I need to get into my chic and week of the week. And it's basically the same thing. Okay. It's gonna both fall under the chic and week category. And it's Amazon dupes. Okay. Listen, I love a dupe. Okay. I don't knock a dupe. I don't knock a knockoff. But the thing is, is like I wanna know. I wanna know that it's a dupe and that it's a knockoff. And Amazon does Really good at kind of being a little sneaky. Okay. So in terms of the chic, I love that Amazon provides dupes. You know, I'm all about an athletic set that's like a dupe of Lululemon, feeling very, very similar to that naked buttery soft feeling. Or, you know, sometimes you just want jewelry that maybe is unassuming, or, you know, free people jacket and it's very similar. Which is great. And it's like, if I know that it's a dupe, amazing. But where it becomes weak is if I don't know it's a dupe. And another going back to the same example is there'll be influencers and they will talk about this jacket. And they're like, it's a free people dupe. But I didn't even know that free people had that. So I didn't even know that it was a dupe. So in my mind, sure, maybe I shouldn't care. But listen, I do. I don't want to get something off Amazon just solely thinking like, that's super cute. I love that. Not knowing it's a dupe of something. And then people being like, does she know it's a dupe? It looks like a dupe. It looks like a knockoff. It's one thing if I am willingly knowing, okay, the fabric's probably not gonna be as great. Yeah, sure, it looks similar, but whatever. I'm not wanting to spend all that for the real one, yada yada. But if I don't know, I don't want to seem like a fraud. Is that really that big of an issue? Yeah, maybe, you know? Because also, too, I'm on the hunt for a really nice fall tote tote shoulder bag. I want like a brown one, a dark brown one. I'm trying to figure out if I want suede or if I want leather. And I find like these really cute bags, but I know that it's kind of a dupe looking of like a very expensive designer bag. And again, it's not like having the label. So it's not like a knockoff, you know, like if you were to go in New York City and go down a back alley and get a bag from there. It's not the to that degree, but it's enough to where it's, I know what it's trying to look like and what it's not. And when it comes to something like a designer bag, I don't know. I don't necessarily want to try to make it look like I'm carrying a Birkin if I'm not. and so that's fine. But my fear is now Am I going to get something that it's a knockoff and I don't know it's a knockoff and Or I guess I should say dupe. I shouldn't say knockoff because I feel like knockoff is where it tries to have like the same little logo and emblem, whatever. But but yeah, so but at the same time, I love Amazon. I love the options. And if I want to dupe, I want to dupe when it comes to like athletic sets or a winter jacket, whatever. Sure. Maybe some jewelry every once in a while. I don't know. But in the same vein. So chic and weak is Amazon dupes. Okay. I just wish there was maybe a disclaimer. So you know this is kind of in the same, but Probably legally you can't do that. I don't know. But that's my gripe and also my fave. So chic and week of the week, Amazon dupe. for listening to the drama drop, you guys. Subscribe wherever you get your podcast.
