Bird Strike Forces Emergency Landing | Durham News
An American Airlines flight hit birds shortly after takeoff from Myrtle Beach, causing engine flames and forcing an emergency landing back at the same airport. Crews collected bird remains—called “snarge”—to help identify species and prevent future strikes, as over 24,000 wildlife incidents were reported in the U.S. alone last year. All 181 passengers escaped unharmed, and the FAA is investigating. A reminder that even with advanced tech, nature still throws curveballs—and thankfully, this one ended safely.
