Vermont Talks may include graphic or explicit content. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome! It is the 71st interview of Vermont Talks and I'm here with Kyra and Kyra is an intuitive Tarot and Oracle reader from Burlington, Vermont and she's booking in-person Tarot readings in the greater Burlington area over Google Meet if you're not in the area and you can do recorded interviews, yeah YouTube that's cool, and you are a vendor also at local markets including Strangelo Market and Spellbund Market and Brandon on October 3rd which I think I've heard of through the like Green Mountains madness group before. Welcome Kyra! I have one question. Yeah, is like what's the rule about swearing? Do swear if you need, because I have a singular smell. Oh yeah, so I don't want to slip. No worries, I can check an explicit box just like I did for the last interview which is totally fine.
• 1:15
That's it, I want it to be comfortable so I don't have to feel restrained or restrictive. Well thank you for the warm welcome. So I think I just happened to stumble upon one of your Instagram readings. It's like oh you are in Vermont. Yeah, you're basically like long-form content. It wasn't just like some like with little thing, it's like something you're actively putting a lot of effort into.
• 1:43
So you know what, I want to talk to Kyra, so. Tell me about yourself. Here are you a lifelong Vremontra, did you move here recently? I would say I'm a lifelong Vremontra. I've lived here for most of my life. I lived in Underhill, grew up there. I love it here and I kind of want to just stay here. Yeah, I love Vermont. Underhill is such a pretty area. Yeah, Fort Hills kind of area. Absolutely. And currently I'm a free jest act. I do terror readings. I'm in beauty school at the moment, learning to do hair, and I'm also a bud tender. So those are some, that's me pretty much. That's a very Vermont group of things. Sure is, isn't it? That's great. Okay, so terror readings specifically.
• 2:40
Awesome, they are lifelong Vremontra. I'm also a lifelong Vremontra. I consider anyone who moves here and wants to stay here and work here of Vremontra as well. I'm not too elitist about it, but I'm always curious because we do get a lot of this the vibe. Exactly. If you want to be here, you're welcome. So, terror reading. Okay, when did you get into it? When was your first like, I'm actually interested, I want to own a deck of these things. Wow. I like, I get this question a lot because I, and I like don't know how to answer it specifically because I don't remember like, there's not like an aha moment, right? But I do remember my dad gifting me my first tarot deck. It was the tarot of the divine. And I loved it, but I didn't really use it all that much. It was, I think in 2020, that I got this deck. I was learning to play guitar and also learning to play tarot during the pandemic. And I didn't like, I just dabbled in it for myself primarily. And that's kind of started it. I didn't really know a lot. Like I didn't, I read from the book or like the guidebook mostly, like I was just starting, I didn't really get serious about it until last year. So that's kind of when things started when I really needed it for my own healing.
• 4:01
It's kind of cool that your dad gifted you your first deck because that's kind of a thing with tarot is like the gifted deck. I know. Someone told me that yesterday they were like, do you like only use gifted tarot decks because people have like a thing against, I don't know. Yes, there's something like that. And I was like, really? I didn't know this. And so I was like, no, but I, like I gift myself tarot decks. I also make a lot of my own decks and like, oh, that's really cool. And so for me, it's like, gifting is not like about somebody else's necessary. But I do, I will say all my gifted decks are by most cherished. So it makes sense. Nice. That's really fun. And that's it. There's a lot of, there's a lot of attitude with tarot, like people who are outside of tarot, judging tarot, and then people within tarot judge each other about like just the way you read the effectiveness.
• 4:58
There's so many decks now too, which is really interesting to look at because for hundreds of years there was like a couple decks. Yeah, absolutely. I'm going to forget the name, weights, writer weights. And then there was, before that, there was the, I'm going to butcher. It's a French deck. Yes.
• 5:19
Yes. Yes. So that one, I actually was my second ever deck. I actually don't own the original writer weight deck. I don't either. I never been in it. Which is funny. I didn't learn from it from a book, but oh yeah, a lot of the like documentation and the things that have been written about tarot, the vast majority of the last hundred years were using weights deck. Yeah.
• 5:49
Which is interesting. I love the art that's gone into the newer decks.
• 5:55
Yeah. So many artists making their own tarot decks. So pretty. So, so pretty.
• 5:59
And such interesting like, I know, like there's some, I've seen, have you seen the Sonic? I don't know. I haven't seen that one, but that's amazing. I was like Amy's Oracle deck and I'm like, okay, like, nice. Nice. I've seen one with cats. I've seen like there's an Adventure Time deck, so we put together. So like whatever flavor of weirdness, there's probably a tarot deck out there. Absolutely.
• 6:27
Yeah. So cool. So cool that you make your own decks. That's amazing. Yeah.
• 6:31
They're just super simple. They're Oracle decks. So they're not, I'm not like doing the whole tarot journey, but yeah, super simple. Anyone can do it. I say like, oracles can be anything. Yes. Yes. Yeah. That's new.
• 6:47
Do you know anything? See, sometimes I come at this with a lot of background information, but the Oracle decks, I don't know as much backing history around. Yeah. Oracle decks. I mean, definitely like so. I mean, it's like really at every culture. I would say like oracles to me are like, they're like signs. I mean, when you see, let's say a lot of people when they see a cardinal, I would say that's an orb.
• 7:09
Like that's something that's giving you affirmation or confirmation about something that's going on in your life or in a past life or whatever you want to think about it. However, it resonates. But I do think that oracles, I don't know the way they've evolved in their own little way. All the artists, like you said, making their own little decks. I just make song lyric decks. Like I love writing down song lyrics. I think music is a beautiful way to read oracle. I don't know. When I think of Oracle, I think of the Oracle at Delphi. Like in Greek mythology. Yeah. So much symbol as everybody. Yeah. All history. When you get into tarot stuff, you start looking at history. Yeah. Like this whole new lens. Absolutely. Which is amazing and fascinating. Yeah.
• 8:03
There's just so much of it. It can be a little overwhelming. Yeah. You start seeing that symbolism tying back to 100%. Especially in like, in other realms of esoteric like studies, symbolism, even pagan, you know, history. I don't know. There's so many different ways, different ways to like come at. Learning about tarot?
• 8:27
Yes. And everybody seems to come at it in a different, like everyone finds their own path. Which is, to me, that's the beauty of it. Yes. Yes. But it's like a new journey. And it's not, I think one of the things that's really interesting with people, because I know a lot of people who are very into tarot and I know a lot of people who would not remotely be interested. But it's so simplistic and like this beautiful symbolism and just kind of seeing things through a different lens than just like, I see this physical pen in front of me. That is all there is. Right. Beauty and perception. Like that's kind of all the tarot. I mean, that's everything.
• 9:09
That's all that life is. I mean, I believe that like, a tarot is just one way of looking at the world past the veil. And so like, even the pen on the paper or like looking at our like, our veil, our world reflects the energy that's going on behind it. And so therefore there's going to be multiple ways that energy manifests.
• 9:36
So it could be in the way something is placed, like it, but it also could be through tarot. It could be through how the rocks are formed on your porch and like that somehow means something to you. And it's just how you take it. How you take it. Like that perception of reality. That's it. If you want to look at your world as just being this boring flat thing that has no meaning to it, like all the power to you. Absolutely.
• 10:00
  That's your perception. Exactly.
• 10:04
That's your perception and you have the right to whatever perception you want. But if other people want to look at that pen on the page, I'm going to live in my dilulu world. Like, yeah, well, it's funny to me when I meet artists in particular, because I'm a musician. I'm an artist. And I like, I just love talking to people, right?
• 10:20
It's just fun to meet all these different people. But I do meet a lot of artists who have really strong attitudes that are like anti spirituality and religion and anti all of these things. And it's funny to me because to me, it feels like that are of like different perceptions of like, how can I look at something on the page? Just like still like drawing, right? If you took like a really basic art class, like every single person drew the bowl of fruit slightly differently. That's faith. That's being able to look at the world and the way you want to look at it. And like, I think that's what I like. I struggle with accepting a religion a lot. But it's also like, that's one box of looking. Yes, it's just a box. It doesn't have to be and it doesn't have to represent everything. And I get like, there's a lot of negative feelings towards a lot of religions for very valid reasons. But like, don't limit your perception on how you can see the beauty of the world.
• 11:27
Because sometimes the cardinal, yes, can mean so much more if you just want it. If you let it mean something to you in particular, because it's like, maybe you see like the cardinal means like it's a love, like a lot of people think it's a loved one that has passed.
• 11:40
And like, if that resonates with you, that's great. But if you think that, let's say a cardinal coming in means that change will occur in the next 48 hours, like that's your way of predicting that for yourself. Like, I think there's so many ways of applying meaning to something, even if it just feels, people do it all the time, every part of their life. Yes, if you think about it. And even if you're the kind of person who's thinking about terror, they're like, oh, yeah, I don't like this. That's a perception. Like, you've made a choice of how you're going to perceive things and like your attitude and how you're going to take these things. So like, your perception is always up to you and it's a choice. And I think that that alone is a really powerful concept that kind of comes for me. Tarot kind of helped me see things a little differently because you can take a negative card, like if something negative comes up and your immediate reaction is to just view everything as like, the world is ending, like it's a horrible card. But if you look at the nuance of it, it can mean something really positive and helpful if you allow it to. Right. So that's exactly how I think about each card. Like, I always imagine each card having a light attribute and a shadow attribute. And so everything has its sort of balance of negative and positive qualities. Right. So like, actually, my favorite card is the Nine of Swords and the Tarot of the Divine, the gift of death I got. And it's the Oracle of Delphi telling Oedipus' father that Oedipus will ultimately murder his own father. And he's like, he knows this and he's like, he's like, I'm going to prevent everything happening, this happening, and then he ends up getting killed because he's trying to prevent. Right. Okay. So that's my favorite card. Not because, I mean, it's terribly sad. The Nine of Swords is all about anxiety and fear, right? But when I get that, I think of the light attribute, which is overcoming that fear. Right. So when that card is upright for me, sometimes that even symbolizes that somebody is looking at their fears head on. If it's in reverse, I typically think of somebody who is, you know, more in that shadow, who is more experiencing something that is super consuming in the bottom. That headspace, that is so hard. Like, if you're going through something incredibly tough at times, it's hard to hear. So like, oh, you can change how you're thinking about this. That's really hard to hear.
• 14:26
Sometimes people, people don't love that at times, but it's really empowered. If you can kind of like, arise above it a little and look at like, oh, well, do I want to think of the outcome as always negative? Or can I do something, you know, because I make lemonade out of the lemon?
• 14:44
Absolutely. I think that's why like, I think love is that baseline, because everything comes at like, even if it's a shot, if you're looking at something about yourself, that's like, oh, I'm pretty bad at people pleasing, right?
• 14:59
Like that's a shadow attribute. When you give yourself that love and attention that deserves like through terror, like the act of reading for yourself, the act of caring for yourself, that is embodying what you like, ultimately need at that moment.
• 15:15
Yes. Yeah. And a lot of self reflection. So trying to bring people who've never had a terror reading done, right? Typically people are coming with a question or even if it's simple, right? Like just like, what, what can I expect out of life? Like that's a question, even if it's very like fraud, but sometimes people are like, I want to know this exact thing that's happening right now with this relationship and all these complicated details. And that's also for reflection, right? It's just a matter of like, how can I think of my problem or my reality in a new way?
• 15:50
Absolutely. And then it's just randomization, right? Yeah. Do you have any specific like layouts that you really love or do you kind of tailor it to whoever is sitting in front of you? I definitely aim to tailor it. But generally, people just ask for general reading. I would say 90% of the time people are wanting just general advice, specifically on how to move forward with something. And the other like portion of that would be like decision making, terror readings.
• 16:25
And then the relationship ones come up sometimes. But my particularly my favorite kind of terror reading is one where I am reading about somebody's spirit team or guides, spirit guides, or they're learning about the people or the energies supporting them, where they're learning kind of more of their purpose here, which I think is or even a past life reading. Those are incredibly powerful and hard and difficult, but they're super, probably my favorite. That's such an interesting when you meet people who are willing to get that deep, the surface. And it's beautiful. Yeah, it's so open and honest. And it's so it's such a we're both crying at the end of it. And it's just one of the most like, it's kind of like, there are no words to be honest. And some of it. I think we all have moments in our lives, we always talk, we always hear about like midlife crises. And now they talked about like border life crisis.
• 17:34
And there's all of these, we all go through these like eras of our lives where things, things have to change life in an early formation. Exactly.
• 17:42
They always stay the same, but sometimes changes hard. So keeping that positive perspective. And a lot of people I meet, they really don't know what the point is, right? They have this feeling of like they're failing, but they don't know why.
• 18:04
Yeah. But yes, and it's very hard to even describe that feeling, but like you feel almost lost in a way. And like, and it's not like I have this horrible problem in my life. Like, no, it's just it always you like roots back to something. And I think that's ultimately getting at my goal for why I'm doing terror readings for other people because they're, they're coming out. There's so many like an infinite amount of different issues or like things or experiences that are coming up, but they all re back to something that I've like noticed, which is the feeling that there's something missing. Right. Like it's just like there's this blind spot.
• 18:43
Yes. It's like, am I, do I have a void? Am I like, it's like, I'm not, I don't know. Like something is empty feeling. And through like reading through like understanding yourself, getting back into yourself, like understanding that that whole, that missing piece just, it doesn't exist. Like it's just, it's just you're a whole already. Like that's, that's what you come back into yourself because the hardest lesson I think I've had to learn and many people will learn in their lives is knowing that nothing you can do, no choice you can make, but ultimately fill that quote unquote whole. Right. And it's just this perception of like a modern society makes us all feel like if we're not a fortune 500 company, or by the time we're 30, you're, you're like failing at life. Yeah. Whatever, and whatever metric that may be, it might be a neurosurgeon, it might be being a bestselling author, like whatever you will mentally have put as like this seemingly unmeasurable goal that yeah, people get these weird voids and they're like, it could be marriage or kids or like that's it. Because you make that possibility a certain shape and you try and make that thing fit that perfectly. And it's like it never like I hate to break it to everybody out there, but it will never fill it. And that's because it's doesn't exist.
• 20:06
Yes. And I think it's interesting talking to people at different stages in their life, right? Yeah, these different areas and all I'm to some people when you talk about like I'm 33.
• 20:13
Yeah. So I have a lot more experience thinking about like my 20s and all these expectations I have. What adulthood was and like what success was and all of these things that we all have to deal with at some point or another. But then you look at people who may be 10 years older than me. Yeah.
• 20:31
And they may have everything they thought they wanted and that whole still exists. And I really feel for those people because yes, because you feel like you did everything right.
• 20:42
And it still feels like there's like totally there's something wrong or something. Yeah. This thing like you just don't get fulfilled in this way.
• 20:50
And sometimes it's just it's literally just perception. And it is.
• 20:54
And I also think that I think back like the conversation we're having right now, like that's I if I was like five years ago hearing this from myself and from you, I wouldn't it would go right through my head. Because I wouldn't be able to actually hear it because it wouldn't make sense to me. It would also piss me off. Yes. Because if somebody you I feel that I told me that nothing would fill my void or like that nothing is going to ever satisfy me. I would end up in pain and crying because I it triggers that for me when your whole perception is teetering on this idea of like what you need to be as a person or success or whatever this magic goal is in life that you may or may not reach. Doesn't even matter if you reach it or not. Because it's a goal.
• 21:43
It's a beautiful thing you can work towards and choose to do. But that doesn't make you less or more of a human than you are. Exactly. Or a soul or however you want to think about yourself. That's an I love this conversation. This makes me really happy because that's it. There's people, everyone's struggling with something and you can talk to your friends, you can talk to different people, but sometimes just bringing a stranger in your life who's willing to just immediately talk about the hard stuff without knowing every little thing about you. It could totally change your perception. Some of the most amazing, powerful things can happen so quickly. Like I just think yeah those people I met so briefly at some weird thing that changed the entire way I think about life and it's like I could never really tell them how much that perception change affects me because it's still affecting me and probably will forever. Something like Tarot readings can do that though. It's kind of nutty to me with coincidence. Because sometimes coincidence and Tarot are wild. When you talk about like the cardinal, I lost my grandmother last month and my family has very much been talking about these things and we all saw rabbits that week of her passing. We knew she was going and there was like a dead rabbit and then there was a rabbit that got away and then there was rabbit just hanging out and eating. That's so interesting that you say that because I love, especially when it's an animal and they're in different positions.
• 23:18
If they're resting, if they're moving, it signifies a different sort of meaning for you. It's funny how our family kind of disgusts it because I think a lot of families aren't as open about talking about that kind of thing. But that was really heavy though that like one saw a rabbit run out of the road. I saw one just like sitting and eating and one other lost like they they're talking about it.
• 23:42
And then looked into it and it's like the symbolization of the veil, this thin line between life and death because rabbits are so fragile. It made a lot of sense honestly. But that's it. It's just like these little synchronicities and I know with her, when you're cool things, it's just it, I will always say that it never not freaks me out. I am always frequently, continuously freaked out by those, I mean I say quote unquote coincidences because I don't believe there are. I think they're totally not that everything's meant to be, but I do feel like that meaning that we have attached to certain things like that's what removes that coincidental sort of it just it keeps the momentum going. And so like I totally. When you're having this thought in your head about a specific question or thing. And something happens the first time you the first time something happens because I've seen them something happen repeatedly where you're like oh like after the second and third time you're like this is a lot like this seems really on the first time when I was thinking this thought you know like a lot of us get stuck in our heads right people right the spiraling problem you just keep going and circles in your head thinking about the thing that's whatever it is and a card falls out of the deck. Yeah and you're like huh okay you know that's interesting but then you put it back in the deck and you shuffle and then the first card falls back. Oh yeah like okay this starts to feel a little weird and something sometimes it can be like oh this negative card is popping out but sometimes it's like the most beautiful sweet card where like I can't believe this card is coming up over and over again as I'm having these thoughts and it can that's it sometimes it can be really like oh no is the world telling me everything's horrible right now is this coincidence just slapping me in the face which can be hard when you're on your own this is why you're getting a terrible reading from someone else is actually a good idea if you're getting into this stuff or you're curious sometimes it's a good idea because sometimes you can get in your own head thinking everything's really negative. Exactly and and not like I think when like I think definitely people the two main fears is what you just one of them is what you just described is like getting a negative put on like put on quote negative card and feeling like everything is going poorly in your life because I mean I still get that. And then the other thing that people struggle with or ask me about is future predictions and that scares people because they don't they don't want to know I mean they want to know but they don't want to know right so like so they're curious about it and I always I mean there are so many readers and spiritual people out there who are giving these predictive readings often about relationships and I I always say like I avoid them specifically just because I don't I like I always say I could predict using this current energy for a certain point in time. Right. I could but then this the energy that's currently here will change in the next moment and then it will change and change and change and change and so therefore the point in the future gets like it's like a different like right what I'm saying I guess is complicated because I'm trying to describe it to you with my hands right now but I always like it's everything is always in flux periclytes so that and so the future is always that point in the future will always like nothing is ever set in stone like that is always going to be able to change every thought and every choice up until and when you talk about something like ten years in the future that's a lot of thoughts and choices up until that point and you can make that choice today to change your entire life people really struggle with that concept yeah but you could you could quit your job you could sell all your bloggings you could get in your car and drive to california and you have free will you have free will you could literally rip your entire part life apart immediately you can do anything you want and that includes the things you do want to do yes so that moment of prediction of like oh am I gonna marry my high school sweetheart yeah like you could you could or you could entirely change your your entire perception do is that what you want like because if you want it today it doesn't mean you're gonna want it in five years especially if you're really into growth yes a lot of times it changes because if you're reading like am i gonna marry my high school sweetheart i'm giving it terror reading on that i struggle with that because i'm not actually reading about whether they're gonna do that or not i'm reading about why they're thinking that in the first place yeah so you're looking at this snapshot of a moment and that's all like we as human beings are really interesting i love thinking about time time paradoxes fascinate me because humans often don't want to live in the moment we really want to think about 10 years in the future or we want to fester and think about five years in the past and the universe hates us for it because they're like live in the present and be happy exactly like like what choice what do you need to do today to feel good today yes and like who do you want to be tomorrow and like what can you do today though to make you feel good about who you're gonna be tomorrow because and it's actually that simple and people really don't like no no i need like more i need especially when it comes to like the past and like thinking about or trauma or any of those things because when you think about oh if i'm gonna live in the present does that diminish the past yeah some way and i mean i actually just did a reading on this today instagram but it was about like being able to know that like being victim to your past is not the same as feeling hurt by it yeah like your pain is is is sacred it's its own truth yeah like your emotional truth is yours but also you don't have to be victim to yes i deserve happiness of anything i got out of terror because i'll be completely honest that's why i came into it i yeah i'm literally just salty and like i couldn't break out of this horrible mental cycle and like there was this moment and i'm speaking to my own experience ever in this experience do what you need to get there yeah but there was this really powerful moment where i stopped thinking of myself as a victim it became i was a big yes it's not i am it's not i will be tomorrow it's what i was yesterday and today i'm stronger than that like like f the past i'm better than that my perception had shifted and that that perspective shift my entire life your entire life changes magically and it just everything starts changing and it's beautiful and magical and the other thing is like like you said like i'm like f that it's like i always think it's like in spite of it all in spite of it all in spite of all that pain in spite of all that trauma i am gonna move forward and enjoy the life i want to exactly because our lives are really short when you think about it like our life you can if you get to like 100 years or life it's really short on this earth and like when it comes down to it taking all of the all of the magical things we can think about with our big brains every day we just wake up and experience the life in front of us so like every day i want to have a good day yeah right like i want to feel okay i want to have a good day i'm gonna eat good food i want to dance to good music and like yes that decision that choice of like changing my thinking and that's it people get upset about this yeah this is a really hard concept and that's what i'm saying when i say it's my dream it's everyone's dream i hope everyone gets that day oh that's my dreams for everyone to have the tingles the beauty the the i wish that for everybody i'm so like this this this life is yours like you can truly do what you want with it like you really aren't withholding to anyone else's opinion your own opinion of yourself today like if you don't like something about yourself well there's only so much we can do but what can you like what's going to change the way you think about yourself yeah go for it i want to give you permission to do it you don't do it yourself i'm like that self-reflection is hard like i'm not that's what i say it's my journey i'm not judging you oh man i hope i hope if you're listening to this i'm not judging you like i just hope you have that feeling wow i can truly do anything i want like yes anything my biggest wildest dreams i can do it yes wow that's that is the greatest entire world this feeling of empowerment like wow and you get to wake up tomorrow and make that same choice yeah like what can i do today yes uh love it anyway sorry i'm going on on such a buddy friend no i i totally agree i think what the the difference is being able to see that life is an opportunity like being able to wake up as an opportunity doesn't mean that you have to be happy go lucky every day of your life no you get to experience feeling you get to experience life and like my favorite saying is um like live every day like it's your first day on earth because it's like every time you're in that like element of awe like the feeling of awe that's where you become grateful for what you have that also gives you faith and trust in the so you're living more And also, we won't go down this funny trail a lot, but it's very similar to what mindfulness and meditative practices. It's just another way of getting there. And I think the symbolism and artwork of the tarot, because tarot is really beautiful. It's just beautiful to look at the card. It's fun. If you're a visual learner, it's great. And it's kind of see the, I love the way they get laid out. There's so many different layouts. We all talk about all of them, but there's like, decision layouts, whatever's bothering you. There's kind of like a plan of how we can lay these out. And never have I ever used a template. I always make up my own, like, random, like, I don't know. I've just never been able to, sometimes I just lay them out however they want to be laid out. Right. Right. If you're intuitive, that's kind of the thing.
• 34:47
It's just like, it's more on feelings and just like looking at someone and what they need out of, you know, like you can pick up what they need by what they're saying and how they're talking to you. Yes. Absolutely.
• 35:01
Okay. All right. So we talked about your favorite decks and we kind of talked about some of your other spiritual practices. I don't know.
• 35:11
You mentioned you go to the local event. So do you do on the spot readings at those events? Yes. I would say like five to like 15 minute readings I'm doing for just strangers. And those are wild. And I have met and experienced some like crazy encounters that I've like just been so influential to me as a person in general. So I love doing the markets because you don't know what you're going to get. I did recently on 420. I did a Hay Buds 420 event. I was reading there. It just like happened to and just like the different communities that come into different audiences that I get from different markets. It was so interesting. Like somebody had mentioned that like brief moment that could change your whole perspective.
• 36:02
Yeah. It might be 15 minutes at one of these events. Yeah. So the next one coming up was on October 3rd. Is there right or is there another one? Yes. I yeah I'm not sure. I will have time for the three but I've been so busy lately.
• 36:15
But I definitely have that October 3rd one in my books so far. Yes. So that's local stuff. It's really cool that you offer online readings for people. So if you're if you're two hours out of Burlington by your orient Australia.
• 36:30
I've read for people there. I've read for people all over the world and that's really fun. And I actually really like the online readings. The biggest question I get asked about that is like does it work like that?
• 36:41
Like it is like yeah it works like that.
• 36:41
It's fine. It's going to be okay. Yes. I can energy again it's a veil. Living it up right. Right. You said you do it through Zoom so it's not like you're you can hear them and you can see them.
• 36:55
Yes. It's going to be going to be okay.
• 36:55
It's amazing the energy and vibes you can pick up up for Zoom meetings. It's true. It's true. Yes. Because I know I've been in many work meetings. I'm like wow the vibe. The vibe is present.
• 37:11
The vibe is palpable. It's tangible. I can feel it. Yeah. So cool. Okay so so.
• 37:20
See what time we're at. Okay. Okay. So curious. Yes. Do you do any in-person meetings or and how do you do with that?
• 37:30
Do you have your own location? Do you meet up at a coffee shop? I do meet up.
• 37:34
Exactly what you just said. I do meet up at coffee shops often for people. I also I mean I've done really in wild places. I've done them outside of a salon. I traded a haircut. Shout out to Erin from Talmo. We traded. And then you know just funny like outside. I love feeling readings outside. Yeah.
• 37:58
Yeah. No that's really great. That's so cool. And you're in Burlington. Are you in Burlington proper? I just moved to Burlington this week. Awesome.
• 38:08
Because what a fun city for. Yeah.
• 38:13
Exactly. Oh my gosh. It's the best.
• 38:13
Wait you can just come by. I love it. I love anything like this. This is my love podcasting. I mean such interesting people to do this sort of thing. And I know so many other tarot readers that I wonder how many of them, you know, I will talk to you about. I probably zero. Maybe like one or two.
• 38:29
So there's a very big network of really spiritual interesting people in the state of Vermont that I'm always blown away by how serious some people are about things I've heard nothing about. I never even knew this practice existed and you're like incredibly into. Yeah. Yeah. I know. It's fun.
• 38:50
Yeah. Yeah. Well it's lots of good people to meet and I'm sure it's at the word. Gotta get the word out because people in Burlington love this kind of thing. I agree. I think it's a really fun little thing to do and to learn about because I think people are curious about it. I know when before I even started reading here I was like this seems kind of cool. Like, you know, like this thing is kind of mystical and fun. And it doesn't. It was what do you make of it too? I think that's why I've touched so hard on perception here because if you if your attitude is all of this stuff is a joke.
• 39:27
Then it's a joke. Then it's a joke. It makes it a joke. Like go have fun. Yeah.
• 39:33
But if your attitude is well, maybe I can self reflect and learn some things. That's intention. Right. And if you think that you're going to become like a fortune teller and guess the next like lottery numbers, like maybe not, but you can try. Maybe you will. No, judge should be. You can pull me aside and tell me how you do that.
• 39:59
Exactly. It's such an interesting thing because some people and some people I never would have expected are like I am so spiritual. I'm 100% believe in all of this. I don't think like some of them are like serious business people. Oh, yeah. I want to expect them to be so open to the idea of spirituality, but they are. And even some like, oh, I'm very religious, but I also love tarot. Exactly. There's so many different walks of life. I mean, the people I'm meeting at the dispensary at work at like they're like, I'm like, you you read tarot or like, you know, like you also like like spirituality. I'm like, really?
• 40:35
Okay. That's awesome. I'm so glad.
• 40:39
That's it. We don't have like a meeting spot every week, but there's a lot of people out there. So many people. Yep.
• 40:42
We got to connect more. I mean, people like I always say, you know, like, oh, you'd love this other person I met.
• 40:53
Yes. I don't know. I feel like the breaking the ice for me is like, you know, about tarot, you know, like if I get the, you know, icky reaction, I'm like, okay, I don't need to go. Yeah, I need to go any further than that. It is what it is. I, it's funny for me because I am in the science world. Yeah. I got techie. I went to school for electrical engineering and ended up writing software now. The people who I like, so many people I respect so much, they will immediately judge me so hard if I ever let it slick that I'm remotely spiritual. Yeah. But then those are the same people who will turn around and like, tell me they had deja vu. Oh, tell me more. Like, please tell me more. Tell me about your dreams. Like, I mean, I just want to pull them aside.
• 41:46
Like, let's start talking quantum theory. Like, let's start talking about that. I actually started just reading a book on it and it was like a critique of how spirituality has poorly affected quantum theory. Yes.
• 42:02
And that's, and so I just like rage me myself. Oh, I'm sure that's hilarious because see, I've read the exact opposite. Yeah. Where the book about the Higgs boson, the God particle book. Yeah. A lot of these really, really heavy hitters in the physics and just science world in general, quantum physics in particular, because we're getting to this point where we physically can't measure these things. And I don't, I personally don't think we're ever going to be able to get to this point.
• 42:35
Right. Like, it's like the building blocks of the universe. Like, you're not going to get smaller. You're not supposed to measure them. You exist in the universe. You're not going to be able to poke your head outside of it like this. This point where we're going to have a line. A lot of them have like these unifying beliefs around realities. Like suddenly things are starting to, like, yes, there's evolution and all of this complicated things built this world that we live in. But like, that doesn't mean there's nothing outside of the universe. Yeah. The veil behind the veil appears to veil like what's outside there. Right. And now we've found the Higgs boson. We've proven that there's a particle holding matter together and the Graviton will probably be found in the next decade.
• 43:21
And like these things are actually incredibly spiritual. Like, so simplistic, but like, oh, well, it's all another way. Another way of describing it. Yet another way.
• 43:30
Right. Yet another way. Describing the same energy. And the more of these like esoteric and old books that you get into and read the verbiage that they use to describe these exact things. So we're talking about in science now is really funny because obviously they didn't have a way to know these things. So it was funny words, but I love the words that you use. But I always love the references from the early 1800s to the ether.
• 43:56
Yeah. Yeah. Like sure. That's cool.
• 44:01
Love that. I should use this. Okay. The ether. Such a great word. Like it was just like all of reality. We've existed in the ether. I love every reality. Sure. Cool. Yeah. You just be using words. I guess. Putting together strings of words. Whatever makes sense. Right. We're all just imagining pictures in our heads when we talk to each other. So whatever makes sense. But I mean, that's I mean, using words to describe the energy is the same thing as reading from tarot.
• 44:27
You know, like they're all just. Yes.
• 44:33
Yeah. We're just trying to interpret things that we can't really. We can interpret them. We kind of get them, but we can't. Yeah. We can't. But we're all so curious about it. Yeah. We're all like, we all are having those moments ourselves where we're like, oh, this perception, this experience, the strange thing, this deja vu, this dream I had, all of these odd moments. And you can't convey them to another person. And that one drives me nuts. I wish so badly that I could record. Oh, I know. My brain and show someone my perception of reality. I can't wait. I just kind of hope my head then is where somebody can just, you know, take out a USB in my head. And we play like the shit I've been through.
• 45:14
Like, you know what I mean? Like just like the crazy freaky like incidences, all those things. I was just like, see. I don't know. I just look at this. Ways of looking at this, right? Because I was coming from an ancient Vermont farm family. I grew up in a very old house with like square headed nails in the base. Same kind of old. Right. There was ghosts in my house. Yes. And when we were kids. So I was kid in like the 90s. Right. Stuff would move around in our house and the way we would react to that as a family.
• 45:48
Which is like, huh? Yeah. Well, whatever. It happens. It happens. Old houses. There's ghosts, whatever.
• 45:59
You just kind of like took it at like this sort of superficial like this is just the way it is. And like, don't freak out. You might. And also don't tell everyone about this because you're crazy. But like, okay. Let me be crazy. I've been called crazy so much.
• 46:16
It's going to be okay. That was just the reality we lived in. Like watching stuff move around in my house. Not just once either. When I was a kid, we had a little RC car. The batteries died on.
• 46:31
Stored in an under shelf cabinet. One day it decided to drive around the whole house. Sure. Why not? Why is this happening? Like just the attitude around it is so funny and people who've had those experiences when you tell them about it, the relief and like, yeah, oh my God, like you're willing to talk about this because I have also experienced crazy. Like it's very comforting to meet other people who've had weird moments in their life. It is. It is. And it doesn't make you weird. I think it's the other thing. Like when your whole family watches something crazy happen and you're all just like, yeah, like that doesn't make you a weird person. But that actually I would argue it does because, no, because I love being like, I would not ever want to be not weird. If you're not a true, it is like, I like being true to I like having that experience of knowing stuff like that. I can't imagine judging people who I haven't met when they tell me a ghost story because I believe them because I've experienced because I'm also weird and I also believe in that.
• 47:39
Yeah. Right. You can see some of those things that like some that's it. If you've seen real activity, yes. Oh, it's very hard to just like because I know I'm not crazy, right? Yeah.
• 47:54
People have experienced these very strange things like it is physically moving like crazy. Yeah. No, I definitely I shy away often from mediumship even though I don't talk about it because I do experience it, but I avoid energies, people or things that have passed. Yeah. Because I used to see them. I used to see things as a child, things that I were not there.
• 48:30
And then I kind of just, I don't know, I use it for like, so it's probably the most private part of my life. Those guys is because I don't want to ever.
• 48:44
There's only very few circumstances in which I would like. I don't know, talk about somebody's past level and I have, but it has also ended friendships of mine because it is so touching. Oh, it's such a heart. Yeah.
• 49:00
Yeah. Especially if they know these people. Yes. And there's people who have experienced those moments.
• 49:05
There's this odd line of like all the power to the people willing to like, lost that line. But like, it feels like something that once you process it, you're not coming back from because we live in this room. We're alive. We're dealing with what's going on here.
• 49:28
There's a lot to deal with enough here that when you notice that kind of thing happening in the corner of your eye, it's just kind of like, well, I could attempt to help you, but that's going to sever this connection I have in reality. Yes. Like people who cross that line end up getting like, you almost can't connect with them anymore. You can basically fall into this weird spiritual realm. You're in the ether the whole time. You're in a place where other people can't. They just don't relate with you anymore because you've gone to this like, and you feel isolated and not connected.
• 50:05
And I was, I mean, definitely through like the most pivotal part of my like spiritual journey. Like that. I felt the most isolated from the world then it was necessary, but it definitely felt that. But like also I like, I could not do tarot full time before that reason. Oh, it's so exhausting because I need to be grounded in reality. Yes. The reason why I'm studying how to do hair is so that I can be grounded. Yes. Like something physical like something like sort of like normal. Not. I'm weird. So I want to have some sort of like into the like, I don't know, the veil. Right. I want to, I want to be able to participate in life the way life is meant to be.
• 50:53
Participate in life. Because I don't, I can't stay in the ether. I'm there a lot. That's it. Like if you spend all your time thinking about things that.
• 51:06
Because that's it. Everything we exist, everything we do in our reality, there's this like undertone of energy that exists all around us.
• 51:15
And when you start to see it and when you grew up in it, when you notice all of these things, it's very easy to get lost in. Yeah. Because everything has a story. All of these things around us are so complex and beautiful. And there's all this history and future and like, whoa, it's wild. It's truly wild. I always think it's like imagining like, like when you, like when an arca, I can't remember the word. Well, it's like having a, like you're having a paper of your life, like a map of your life, let's say. And then on top of it is this like transparent, like, what do they call it, paper that you put? Like tracing paper, like architecture, like tracing paper. That's what I feel like that's what ether sort of like, it's like, it's like you have this map of your life and then there's all these connecting dots on the, like the tracing paper that like sort of, or you're like, Oh, that connects here through like the tracing paper makes it so you can understand those connections. Right. I don't know.
• 52:27
That's how I like to think of it. But when you remove the tracing paper, it's just your physical world. Yes.
• 52:30
Like the, yes, yes. And we'll have to live here, right? Like, yes, all these things are important. This is physical world or else we lose the opportunity. You lose the opportunity. And it's that this is kind of like a whole point. My mind is like, all this realm is special compared to that ether of just energy and like, Whoa, that's it. If you can dip your toe into that world, it's a very, very overwhelming thing. And it's like, cause humans, right? We think of humans as like thoughts, thoughts, hopes, dreams, emotions, all of these things that are like being human. It's like that 100% all the time. It's like this crazy energy space of like all of it. And it blurs together. It's not like one person.
• 53:23
It's not seen or is it measured? It is literally impossible to fully articulate into words or we're trying. And it's important to try because it helps the spring purpose into our life. But there's, you know, like soccer team said, like the, the, the greatest, the only thing I do know is that I know nothing at all. You know, but we don't know. We don't. And you can't. I'd like that awareness that it's there, but you can't grasp it. It is. Yeah. It's a weird, it's a weird reality to live in and know it's there.
• 53:56
And also it's weird to, to dip your toe in and come back and be like, okay, that's out there. But you know what? I think I'm going to live my life and like take, take this physical reality and do of it what I can because that's always going to be there. Like, oh, I, you know, I opened that box. It's Pandora's box, right? It's like spiritual imagery from all these stories. But when they talk about Pandora's box and that moment of like, whoa, if you ever experienced the, whoa, moment of like, whoa, like the behind the veil stuff, it is, it is Pandora's box. Like it really is that exact same symbolism of like everything, all of these energies coming out of, you know, for us, it's like a hole in our brain. Basically, yes, it's the box. It's the box open. It is. It's overwhelming. That's it. You got to stay grounded. Yes. Love it or hate it. Like, I just kind of ignore that. I imagine like closing that closet door in the back of my head.
• 55:00
Yeah. Well, that's there. It's always going to be there. Just keep that back there. Because that's, that's it.
• 55:10
When you really appreciate that like, this like crazy, crazy energy that just exists back there, that means that like every day, every day here, every day here is like a real incredible trailer, you know, like forever and like when you lose someone really close to you, I think we all have those, those self-reflections. Yes.
• 55:32
You go back. You go deeper. Like grief is probably the most profound experience we can go through in our lives because it brings us, it centers us into what matters most, into our deepest desires. It is, it is painful.
• 55:48
It is, can be traumatic. It can be years. It can be your whole life. The grief will like, it will positively transform every single time. Yep. And yeah, that's it. You have to take a bit, what you will. Can I get something positive out of it? And if ever you can have those moments of taking your own perception and start ripping it apart and like, well, why am I thinking about it this way? Why am I feeling this way in like a, let yourself feel it, right?
• 56:22
Like, feel it. Feel it. You don't need to stop. But you know, when, when you've calmed down a little bit, that moment of like, let me take a step back.
• 56:31
Like, why am I feeling this way? I can go a little slower. It's okay. Right. And like the, I always forget the term, Sonder, that like everyone else is also having these crazy experiences of life and death and the ether in their back, you know, their back closes up their brain. And for some reason no one wants to talk about it. No, no one wants to talk about it. Exactly. No one wants to talk about it. But like, you can have that moment of empathy for the person who can give it to you. Yes. And like, it costs you nothing when you can get to that point of being like, you know, but I also don't care enough. Yeah. Like it's okay. You don't get to live here in my brain. Like it, I deserve a better mental space to live in. Because when you get really pissed off in traffic, I always, I love the traffic. Yeah.
• 57:23
Everyone has that. And yeah, we feel as a society, social acceptable because you're not screaming at someone's face. Yeah. Yeah. But people like so much anger about things not related to driving. When they're driving has nothing to do with driving. Most of it.
• 57:37
And like, I used to be an extreme road rage person. Like I would, I really got to me. And I like, I mean, it was a hard thing to be able to just be like, this, none of this matters. Like if I go slow, I'm going to get there the same about the same time. Like, I'm like, it's like being able to just like, just, yeah, let it, let it flow a little bit. A little bit of like, you know, I, if I'm really pissed off, like incredibly pissed off, I'll have to like, you know, maybe they're having the worst, you know, what is the worst thing happening? Or maybe they're just an asshole. Right. And they're, for some reason, it's actually valid in their, in their perception, right? Like they're going through something. And they're being an asshole to everyone in traffic. Whatever. I don't need to let them, like you said, I don't need to let them piss me off. No, because I was just like spreading the pain around.
• 58:32
Because when you're unbothered, you're like, happy. And then it actually like reflects the near back to that person. And so they're like, Oh, I'm doing something here. That's actually not helping anybody. Yeah.
• 58:45
If you need an aggressive person, just, you know, calm and steady, they're way less likely to get more aggressive. Like some will, some people are not. But like most people, most people are going to calm down if you talk to them in a calm tone of voice like that. Okay. I can take whatever life throws at me and then hold it in my thoughts and make a choice of how I respond because emotions are so quick, right? We're so quick to be so, to stop at each other. I'm quick to do it some days, but then I have those moments. Like just like you said, like I used to be so road-ranging, but I really had these like, you know what? I hope these people have a good day. Like I just hope all of these people, even if it feels uncomfortable, like you're still doing the part, the effort into like making it a better experience for yourself and others. And honestly, it doesn't take very long. The more I practice it, it's like a month or so.
• 59:49
Oh, it started really like truly like, you know what? Every morning I tried to work and by the time I get to work, I'm so freaking pissed off. Maybe I should stop doing that. So I had that moment of self reflection. And then it became like every time someone cut me off, it was like, okay, well, how am I going to, like you're observing, I got to respond to this. And it finally got that point where I'm like, wow, I can choose to be, what an a-hole. Hope they have a good day. Yeah. Like just thumbs up. It's great. It doesn't have to be like, it doesn't have to be 100% pissed off all the time. And it's empowering to be able to let that shake out. Yes. It has 100% of the time. So many people, so many other things that we're also upset about today are things that, yes, yes, 100% of their moments where like some bigoted person can do something terrible to you, but 99.9% of the time, the bigoted person on the internet or whatever is not directly in front of you is not affecting your life. And it's something that you can say, well, what an asshole. Yes. Hope they have a good day. And don't feed that energy because when the energy is fed to them, then they're getting what they want out of that. Yes. Oh, exactly. Every single time once you feed that energy, they're getting what they want. Positive or negative.
• 1:01:19
This is the curse of the internet because we can find really good empowering things, but you can also find stuff that's going to piss you off. Yeah. Deeply for like months on end. And like, that's your choice though. Like, wow. Your perception, what's on your phone? Do you swipe away? Do you got upset? Do you fight with robots in the comments to move on?
• 1:01:39
And so therefore, if you're fighting the bigoted person and then you're getting angry and then you're getting, you're like reading this other layer of negative energy. Yeah.
• 1:01:53
And honestly, being a software person, I can promise you that more than her for the friggin internet profiles are actually robots.
• 1:02:01
They've fully admitted that the most of the internet traffic, especially on social media, is coming from internet. Robots were literally made to piss you off. Yeah. So like, don't let them do that. Don't waste the AI energy responding to them either. No.
• 1:02:13
You know, because it doesn't matter.
• 1:02:17
It literally describes nothing at all. It doesn't have anything to do with you. No. And responding to a robot is just wasting more AI power. So if you don't like AI, fighting with robots, like you're just making the LLMs generate angry bigoted text back at you. Okay. Like this is a waste of time, energy and environmental resources.
• 1:02:39
And that's literally to piss you off.
• 1:02:44
That's the whole point of this. Just piss you off and hang your hands. I'm like, yeah, the robots are not your neighbor. That's it. You're not going to run into these, these crazy things that people find on the internet.
• 1:02:53
You're probably not going to find them on the street in Burlington. Never. So go for a walk. Go for a walk. Go outside.
• 1:02:57
Go outside. Go outside. Give yourself some love. Feel better. Like you deserve to feel better about this. I see you do. I see you do. You could change your perception. So we go back to Kira. You should probably go get a tarot reading. If you're curious about it. Yes. Check it out. Even if it's just for fun. See, if you have questions, if you're like, I don't believe in any of this. And you're going to, you want to like talk about it in an open way and respectful way.
• 1:03:29
Okay. If you want to do that with me, I'm happy to. And if you want to talk about the universe, I'll do that for 24 hours straight. If you want. Nice. I'm the guys. I can't tell. I'm the same way. I love talking about this stuff. And I love it. We didn't get into the whole like history of the tarot and I don't think we need to, but like, you want to talk about the history of the tarot?
• 1:03:49
That is a 24 hour conversation.
• 1:03:49
Absolutely. And there's certainly a lot of stuff I could learn. Like I always feel like there's so much to learn about it all the time. It's so deep. That's it. There's like thousands of years of history wrapped up in all of this stuff and multiple different areas of the world. And it's all the same package. 100 different layers. It's, it's, it's really cool.
• 1:04:10
And it's. Face value. It can just be fun. Honestly. I know people who just enjoy it. And it's fun to look at the cards, fun to pull a card every day, read for yourselves. Why don't you just look at the artwork? Even if you're literally just appreciating the cards. You know, one thing my fidget, I would say is shuffling. I'm a chef. Like I love shuffling cards.
• 1:04:36
It's very satisfying. It's so satisfying. And it's not just simple.

I always love the tarot. Because it's so old, right? So old. We all play with playing cards. The like current deck you play poker with is actually based on the tarot. Yes. And actually you can like, when I'm gone camping, I used to read from like just a playing card set.
• 1:04:59
Like you can do that. It's like, you can translate it. It's so interesting.
• 1:05:02
Exactly. So the stuff is really old.
• 1:05:02
This isn't like something made up in the 70s by some beanie and hippies.
• 1:05:06
Nope. This is old. It's cool. It's fun to learn history. And also some of the hippie stuff is kind of cool. Yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. No shade to the hippies.
• 1:05:15
Yeah. I'm just saying. I didn't even know I'd been in the 70s. No, it's so true. It's actually like we probably couldn't pinpoint a way in which like I think there's... I don't think they have. Yeah. Like there's... That's most of history anyway. It's so old.
• 1:05:31
  That's it. It's so old and there's...
• 1:05:31
Yeah. Ancient stuff from... And everyone debates this. That's where it gets fun when you get in a tarot.
• 1:05:39
People debate this and will argue to death about it. That's why I'm not going to get into it. But it's really old. We can all agree. It's really old and it predates a lot of what we consider modern society.
• 1:05:49
Absolutely. Why hundreds and hundreds of years. So cool stuff.
• 1:05:54
curareadsterro.com is cura's best safe. And you've got scheduling on there. And I know your Instagram.
• 1:05:59
You've got a bunch of stuff on Instagram that you're posting and it's the same name. cura. A-Y-R-A reads tarot and same on YouTube as well. So if you want to book a session, you should hit cura up. If you want to go to one of the... Is it Spelldown Market in Brandon on October 3rd? Correct. Or possibly other events maybe. Check out the website. Check out her Instagram. And if you want to get your hook up. It's fun. It's fun. It's fun.
• 1:06:26
Or if you are feeling like you just are struggling a little bit. You have questions. You want to... You're feeling like the hole is bothering you in your life. The hole doesn't exist in cura. I can't figure out what that means. I can give you... I'm not going to make you feel... I want you to feel safe and support you the month. It's the main goal. A good tarot reading, I always say, is one that will make you feel safe in your body. And also never say anything that you don't already know. It's always going to be confirming and affirming to you and your soul and your heart and all those things. So... It's good. It is good.
• 1:07:10
Yeah, you can make of it what you will.
• 1:07:10
