- 0:00SPEAKER_00: I kind of want to learn.
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Um, I had recently like messed around with the saxophone, but I need to learn one song of the saxophone.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: So that is definitely what I'm gonna do.
- 0:07SPEAKER_03: You know what?
- 0:07SPEAKER_03: Because women think that's the sexiest shit ever.
- 0:09SPEAKER_03: You do need to learn that.
- 0:10SPEAKER_03: It's a sexy phone.
- 0:10SPEAKER_03: It's a sexy phone.
- 0:12SPEAKER_03: It's truly.
- 0:13SPEAKER_03: Let us know.
- 0:13SPEAKER_03: We'll broadcast the podcast from there.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: Hey, it's Deb.
- 0:28SPEAKER_03: It's Happy Hour Deb.
- 0:30SPEAKER_03: We are on day one of the country radio seminar, and next to me are Judy and Jerry, my old friends.
- 0:35SPEAKER_03: Hello.
- 0:36SPEAKER_03: Good to see you guys.
- 0:37SPEAKER_03: So good to see you.
- 0:38SPEAKER_03: Thanks for having me.
- 0:39SPEAKER_03: Alright, tell me what's happened since the last year, since I've seen you guys.
- 0:42SPEAKER_03: Oh gosh, a lot of happening.
- 0:43SPEAKER_03: A lot has happened.
- 0:44SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 0:45SPEAKER_02: Start with whatever is fabulous.
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: Well, um, I'll start with the biggest.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: We opened up a songwriting venue here in Goodlitzville a couple months back.
- 0:53SPEAKER_02: What?
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: That is so exciting.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: It's been really, really exciting.
- 0:57SPEAKER_02: How is it going?
- 0:58SPEAKER_02: It's going so great.
- 0:59SPEAKER_02: We opened back up in November and we have live music every night.
- 1:02SPEAKER_02: We have Italian-inspired food, we got cocktails.
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: I want you to go.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: We have live music every single night.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Jordan Davis' dad was in there the other night.
- 1:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's hanging out.
- 1:11SPEAKER_02: We've had some number one writers come in.
- 1:13SPEAKER_03: Wait, what's the name of it again?
- 1:14SPEAKER_03: It's called Round Here.
- 1:15SPEAKER_03: Round Here, and it's downtown?
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: H-E-A-R.
- 1:18SPEAKER_03: H-E-A-R.
- 1:19SPEAKER_03: And where is it located?
- 1:20SPEAKER_03: It's located in Goodlitzville.
- 1:22SPEAKER_03: Dude, I'm coming.
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: Please.
- 1:24SPEAKER_03: I'm totally coming.
- 1:25SPEAKER_03: So you're like entrepreneuring and doing everything.
- 1:27SPEAKER_03: What's it like?
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: That's a tough business.
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's very tough, yeah.
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: It's it's our hood system went out the other day in the middle of a dinner rush, and the smoke, we couldn't get the smoke out of the kitchen.
- 1:36SPEAKER_03: You know, it's something every day.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: It's a tough industry.
- 1:39SPEAKER_03: My daughter's a chef.
- 1:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, okay.
- 1:41SPEAKER_03: And I know it's like she comes to it.
- 1:43SPEAKER_03: And you're working nights and weekends, and everybody else has, but you do that as artists anyway.
- 1:47SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 1:47SPEAKER_03: You know, you work when everybody else is playing.
- 1:49SPEAKER_03: Exactly, yes.
- 1:50SPEAKER_03: That's amazing.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: You guys have been playing it?
- 1:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we've been playing there.
- 1:53SPEAKER_02: We've been meeting artists, we meet writers, we just hop up on stage with people and we just start playing with them.
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: It's just such a community of music and fun and family.
- 2:02SPEAKER_02: It's just amazing.
- 2:03SPEAKER_03: Um Nashville is a total community.
- 2:04SPEAKER_03: I like feel that.
- 2:05SPEAKER_03: Like if you guys pull for each other, I love that so much.
- 2:08SPEAKER_03: You know, like every artist is so cool about helping the next one.
- 2:12SPEAKER_03: Yes, along.
- 2:13SPEAKER_03: It's not a cutthroat.
- 2:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's about community.
- 2:16SPEAKER_02: It's about community, yes.
- 2:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, for sure.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: We also actually opened for Scotty McCreary as well.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: I'm in Florida.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: You did?
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we got to meet him backstage, and uh, he's such a wholesome guy.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: Oh, I heard that.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: We got to shake his head, he was like, Hey Joey, how you doing?
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh my god, yeah, that's Scotty.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: That is so always equal in person.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he was so cool.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: We didn't talk for long, but just get in those few minutes with him, it was amazing.
- 2:39SPEAKER_03: And just to be on stage opening up for somebody like that, that's a big deal.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was about 4,000 people.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:46SPEAKER_03: Were you guys nervous or no?
- 2:47SPEAKER_03: You're like all pros.
- 2:48SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: I was nervous.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: I was nervous.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: It was like we were getting a little nervous, like walking out, but then like it it went away.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Like the butterflies, they flew away, and like it was.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: I've got this.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: It's what you do for a living, right?
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: Like you don't have the option, it's like go time.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: Anyone else you guys have been collabing with or uh yeah, we've been collabing with a lot of artists that have come through the venue and writing with them.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: We've been just getting we're gonna about to go into the studio and record some new music, which we're really excited about.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: You know, every record we record, we're kind of finding a little bit more of our style and our direction.
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: So I'm so excited for these next songs to go.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: So when will that drop?
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: Do you know?
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: Do you have a full album date or no?
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: We act we haven't recorded any yet.
- 3:28SPEAKER_02: We're kind of in the process of picking them right now.
- 3:29SPEAKER_02: You don't know which ones to change.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: We have them in the pockets and we're gonna try and pull them out.
- 3:33SPEAKER_03: I love that so much.
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: Do you guys have a team that works with you?
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: Like when you're recording and yeah, we um we recorded down at BMG for our last record, so we're not really sure where we're gonna go with this new one.
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: We're hoping to do some stuff with them, you know, or maybe branch out a little bit.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: You get to start dropping singles?
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, definitely.
- 3:50SPEAKER_03: I love when artists tell me that they're dropping a single every six weeks.
- 3:53SPEAKER_02: I'm like, yeah.
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: Damn.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: We're about to get into that.
- 3:56SPEAKER_02: That's a lot of work.
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's a lot of work.
- 4:01SPEAKER_02: How's your family?
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: Family's good.
- 4:03SPEAKER_02: Good, yeah, really supportive.
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: Very supportive.
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: Always supportive.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: Our mom, she works with us at the venue.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: So, you know.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, our dad's taking care of business in Florida.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:11SPEAKER_02: So, you know, we're guys are like international superstars.
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: I freaking love it.
- 4:15SPEAKER_02: I love it so much.
- 4:16SPEAKER_02: I think that's what draws people to the venue is that it's family-owned, and it's just us, a couple people from Florida, having a good time playing music, eating.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you really gotta come in.
- 4:24SPEAKER_03: It's it's I totally would love to.
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: Italian is my favorite.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: Tell me what's the greatest thing on the venue.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: Greatest thing, uh, it doesn't sound very Italian, but it's a beef cheek ragu.
- 4:34SPEAKER_02: It's our chef, he trained in Paris, and he came from Disney.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: He is like an executive chef at five different five-star restaurants there.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: Ah, in Disney?
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:42SPEAKER_02: He moved to Goodlitzville the day that we hired him.
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: Just left on a whim.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: It was weird.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: He needed a job and we needed a chef.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: So it was perfect.
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: That's amazing.
- 4:51SPEAKER_03: And when did you guys open up?
- 4:53SPEAKER_03: You opened up in November.
- 4:54SPEAKER_03: And it's you made it through the holiday season, which is nuts.
- 4:57SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 4:58SPEAKER_03: And then it was kind of crazy.
- 4:59SPEAKER_03: It opened up like at the worst time by now.
- 5:01SPEAKER_03: And the winter was kind of nuts here, too.
- 5:04SPEAKER_03: Which, you know, you usually expect it to be.
- 5:05SPEAKER_03: I swear to God, because I'm from Philly, every time I come here, the weather, I'm like, I'm like a bad luck.
- 5:10SPEAKER_03: You're like I'm at home.
- 5:11SPEAKER_03: Like, I know.
- 5:12SPEAKER_03: I haven't even been outside yet this morning, and I'm like, is it cold out there?
- 5:15SPEAKER_03: I was so damn cold yesterday.
- 5:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it was snowing.
- 5:19SPEAKER_03: Girl, what month are we in?
- 5:21SPEAKER_03: Let's talk about this.
- 5:22SPEAKER_03: I flew in Monday.
- 5:24SPEAKER_03: It was 70 degrees in Philadelphia, and they were getting tornadoes because you know, we're not used to humid weather in March.
- 5:30SPEAKER_03: And then they were tornado watches here.
- 5:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 5:32SPEAKER_03: And it was like being on the plane ride from hell, I swear.
- 5:35SPEAKER_03: I'm not afraid.
- 5:35SPEAKER_03: I've been crabbling my whole career.
- 5:37SPEAKER_03: I was like, somebody get me a drink.
- 5:40SPEAKER_03: What do you mean the card isn't coming around?
- 5:43SPEAKER_03: I definitely want to come see the rest of the country.
- 5:46SPEAKER_03: What's the summer plan?
- 5:47SPEAKER_03: You guys playing?
- 5:48SPEAKER_02: Are you touring?
- 5:48SPEAKER_02: What are you doing?
- 5:49SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, we're playing, we're getting to the studio.
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: We're hoping to maybe build an outdoor patio at the venue and have like some live stuff.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: You have to, because live music in this city is just what it is.
- 5:57SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be fun.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: We're really excited for the songwriting, uh, the Key West Songwriters Festival.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Yes, yeah.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: Every year we look forward to that.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: It's just uh fun time.
- 6:07SPEAKER_02: So yes, in May.
- 6:08SPEAKER_02: We're going to the uh Space Coast one as well.
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: It just started up last year.
- 6:12SPEAKER_02: This is our second time doing it, so we're doing that first, and then we're going to Key West.
- 6:15SPEAKER_03: I heard Tampa does a really good one.
- 6:16SPEAKER_03: Oh, yes, I did.
- 6:17SPEAKER_03: That's is that October or November?
- 6:19SPEAKER_02: I'm not sure.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: I heard about it this year, but I don't remember what the time period was.
- 6:24SPEAKER_03: I think it's the fall, which is good because it's a little hot in Florida.
- 6:27SPEAKER_03: Although the week that I was there, we went to Clearwater.
- 6:29SPEAKER_03: The week that I was there, it was like in the high 60s, but it was sunny and there was no snow.
- 6:34SPEAKER_03: So I'm like, this is beautiful.
- 6:35SPEAKER_03: I never see another snowflake as long as I live.
- 6:38SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be completely gone.
- 6:40SPEAKER_03: Where do you want to play?
- 6:41SPEAKER_03: What's the dream?
- 6:42SPEAKER_02: Uh Red Rocks.
- 6:43SPEAKER_02: Red Rocks.
- 6:44SPEAKER_02: Is the dream?
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: Like that is just so beautiful.
- 6:46SPEAKER_02: It's like a it's like so beautiful.
- 6:49SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 6:52SPEAKER_03: You have to.
- 6:53SPEAKER_03: If you're gonna be here in Nashville, you're gonna be on the Opry.
- 6:55SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 6:56SPEAKER_03: Who's your biggest inspiration in music right now?
- 6:59SPEAKER_03: Oh gosh, that's a great question.
- 7:00SPEAKER_03: Because the women are killing it.
- 7:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, oh my gosh.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: Like, I'm gonna be able to do it.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: Cheers to the women in country music.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: Cheers, right.
- 7:05SPEAKER_02: I'd probably say Ella.
- 7:07SPEAKER_02: I mean, she's just like absolutely killing the game right now.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: She's got some good songs.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, such like I think like the collab with Riley was so great.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: But now that she's like, here's me, like, here's Choosing Texas, here's Danny.
- 7:19SPEAKER_03: I don't think Choosing Texas is such an incredible.
- 7:23SPEAKER_03: I'm from originally from Texas.
- 7:24SPEAKER_03: So every time I hear I get homesick, I'm like, and my granddaughter, I had a granddaughter since last time you guys saw me.
- 7:30SPEAKER_03: I'm now a grandma.
- 7:31SPEAKER_03: 29-year-old grandma.
- 7:32SPEAKER_03: Thank you so much.
- 7:33SPEAKER_03: It's a 29-year-old grandma.
- 7:34SPEAKER_03: Her name is Lainey.
- 7:36SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 7:36SPEAKER_03: They were gonna get ultrasound, and they heard this and they named her Lainey after Lainey Wilson.
- 7:41SPEAKER_03: She's a Laney.
- 7:42SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, that's so cute.
- 7:43SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 7:44SPEAKER_03: Like, it makes me so happy, like when I go.
- 7:47SPEAKER_03: I have a 14-year-old niece in Dallas, too.
- 7:49SPEAKER_03: So every time one of you guys like airs, she becomes an Insta fan, her and all her friends.
- 7:53SPEAKER_02: Oh my gosh.
- 7:54SPEAKER_03: So it's such a cool thing to watch it be passed on, you know, to another generation.
- 7:59SPEAKER_03: I think that's such a really cool place to do.
- 8:02SPEAKER_03: So, how's it going out here?
- 8:03SPEAKER_03: You guys love it?
- 8:04SPEAKER_02: I we love it.
- 8:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: It's been so great to be here.
- 8:08SPEAKER_03: Honestly, it's a cool, it's a cool place.
- 8:10SPEAKER_03: It's so cool.
- 8:11SPEAKER_03: It definitely is.
- 8:11SPEAKER_03: I love it here.
- 8:12SPEAKER_03: So that's it.
- 8:13SPEAKER_03: Red Rock, where are you gonna play this summer?
- 8:15SPEAKER_03: Can we get a little sneak peek of any?
- 8:17SPEAKER_02: Well, we're gonna be playing at the venue a lot.
- 8:19SPEAKER_02: Honestly, we're hoping to build up our touring schedule a little bit more.
- 8:23SPEAKER_03: We're gonna add the link to your restaurant podcast.
- 8:27SPEAKER_03: Go check them out.
- 8:28SPEAKER_03: They're not only the coolest people, but they're serving Italian food now.
- 8:31SPEAKER_03: They're serving Italian food.
- 8:32SPEAKER_03: So, yeah, that's the best.
- 8:33SPEAKER_03: I'm so proud of you guys that you guys went out on that limb to do that.
- 8:38SPEAKER_03: We're excited.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: Thank my parents for that.
- 8:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:41SPEAKER_03: And you guys are supporting.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: They're very supportive.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: And so that was like, it was just great that they're giving.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: It's great that we can do it together, you know.
- 8:48SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 8:49SPEAKER_03: Tell me how important how important your fans are.
- 8:52SPEAKER_03: Extremely important.
- 8:53SPEAKER_03: You know, we wouldn't be here without them.
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: And we wouldn't have that little like glimmer of reassurance, you know, without them.
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: Like that we're on track, and people are responding, and they're loving it, and we're doing this for somebody.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: Meeting greets, we're doing this for somebody.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: Signatures, that's all.
- 9:07SPEAKER_03: It's all hits home.
- 9:10SPEAKER_03: I'm sure, I can't even imagine.
- 9:11SPEAKER_03: Nobody's ever asked for my signature unless it was on the bottom of some kind of loan payment.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: It's the only time.
- 9:17SPEAKER_03: It's like sign here.
- 9:18SPEAKER_03: I'm like, what am I paying for?
- 9:20SPEAKER_03: It's ridiculous.
- 9:22SPEAKER_03: Because fans are they're the ones buying the merch.
- 9:24SPEAKER_03: They're the ones buying the tickets, and you know, they're the ones that are supporting.
- 9:28SPEAKER_03: What's the greatest compliment you've ever received?
- 9:30SPEAKER_03: Oh wow.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: Greatest compliment.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: Um, you look like Elvis.
- 9:35SPEAKER_03: You look like Elvis.
- 9:38SPEAKER_03: That's scary.
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: That is a compliment.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: Like I'll probably just say.
- 9:43SPEAKER_02: I don't know if I can think of the greatest.
- 9:45SPEAKER_02: I just think like anybody like giving a compliment.
- 9:48SPEAKER_02: Like, even like last night, like I bartend sometimes at the restaurant.
- 9:51SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 9:51SPEAKER_02: And somebody wrote on like the the check or like the bill, because I didn't they didn't see them when they left.
- 9:56SPEAKER_02: They were like, you're amazing, like keep shining bright.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: Like I think like little things, like it doesn't have to be from anybody that's like has a name.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: Starbucks and they're like, have a great day.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like anybody small that just makes your night.
- 10:07SPEAKER_03: I was getting caught this morning and I was like, make it a great day, you guys are killing it back there.
- 10:11SPEAKER_03: And the guy's like, like, who the hell is she talking to?
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: No, but like it goes so far, bro.
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: So far because I don't think you're gonna be able to do it.
- 10:20SPEAKER_02: Just a little smiley face.
- 10:21SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: Just a smiley face.
- 10:23SPEAKER_02: Right, absolutely.
- 10:24SPEAKER_02: And just try a little harder.
- 10:26SPEAKER_02: Like it's not that hard to be kind to people.
- 10:27SPEAKER_02: I agree with you so much.
- 10:28SPEAKER_02: Like, it you don't understand how much that means to somebody, like to make their day it doesn't happen enough.
- 10:33SPEAKER_02: That's why it's so shocking when it does happen.
- 10:35SPEAKER_02: We need to make a movement.
- 10:37SPEAKER_02: And I'm saying be nice, say you're gonna be able to do that.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: The smiley movement.
- 10:40SPEAKER_03: I know, right?
- 10:41SPEAKER_03: It's not that bad.
- 10:42SPEAKER_03: That's what I tell.
- 10:43SPEAKER_03: I'm like, it's really not, it's not that bad.
- 10:45SPEAKER_03: Like I've seen worse shit than this, you're gonna be okay.
- 10:47SPEAKER_03: You know, because sometimes people get completely caught up in that.
- 10:51SPEAKER_03: All right, somebody called me a Karen.
- 10:53SPEAKER_03: Um girl, I know you'd have that reaction.
- 10:56SPEAKER_03: Somebody called me a Karen a couple months ago.
- 10:58SPEAKER_03: First of all, you're not even a rock star until you have some haters, right?
- 11:01SPEAKER_03: Like you're not even a badass until you have some haters.
- 11:04SPEAKER_03: So this guy, like literally on the happy, I don't handle my own social media, somebody else does it for me because like I'm a grandmom now.
- 11:10SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 11:11SPEAKER_03: Like, I want to be like, I wanna be like, I know.
- 11:15SPEAKER_03: It's so funny.
- 11:16SPEAKER_03: People are like, you're a you're a grandmother.
