- 1:26Speaker 3: We're doing it.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Do it?
- 1:27Speaker 3: Okay?
- 1:27Speaker 1: Three two one?
- 1:30Speaker 3: Ah.
- 1:31Speaker 1: That was very anti climactic.
- 1:33Speaker 3: And I got it all over myself.
- 1:35Speaker 1: That's what she said, you got to go more like this.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Well, my lid's different. I think it's my lid's fault.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Just hid it. I actually I am not very good
- 1:44Speaker 3: at opening cans. I'm not gonna lie opening cans and
- 1:47Speaker 3: tying balloons.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I just like I have trouble, you're too deficit. Say yeah,
- 1:51Speaker 1: if we all have them.
- 1:52Speaker 3: But h our local brewer, you got our two favorite
- 1:56Speaker 3: drinks back in stock or yeah, hinder, whatever you want
- 1:59Speaker 3: to say. So we're like we're on cloud nine.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yeah we're we're definitely drinking it up. We got I've
- 2:03Speaker 1: got the thousand Peaks from Trench Brewing.
- 2:06Speaker 3: And then I have the Peach Rosemary, which is at
- 2:08Speaker 3: vod cuts Seltzer, also from Trench Soul freakin delicious.
- 2:13Speaker 1: However, I just want to give a shout out to
- 2:15Speaker 1: all the other breweries in town, because not to say
- 2:17Speaker 1: that I don't like Crossroads or I don't like Deadfall
- 2:20Speaker 1: Brewing or Caribou. You guys are all awesome. However, Trench
- 2:23Speaker 1: just so happens to have this one that is like
- 2:26Speaker 1: my favorite.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Yeah, your favorite beer. So, but you drink a lot
- 2:29Speaker 3: of other beers too, Oh yeah.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I go all across the board. They all got good stuff.
- 2:32Speaker 1: This one's just you know, it's just my favorite, this one, this.
- 2:35Speaker 3: One beer well and showed out to the new one.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Oh yeah, dead Fall.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Dead Fall person got a cool new brewery which just spacewaight,
- 2:41Speaker 3: I'll uh, I'll be.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Making sure I drink them in future episodes too, so
- 2:44Speaker 1: I'll be talking lots about them. Absolutely, got to support
- 2:47Speaker 1: the local, the local love. Yeah, well, there.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Isn't really much for local that I will like drink
- 2:53Speaker 3: because it's most like beer, right, but then this place
- 2:55Speaker 3: has a different drink. Some usually like wine or like
- 3:00Speaker 3: a cooler of sorts.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Yeah, these are siders. So see, you said, what do
- 3:06Speaker 1: we got to talk about today?
- 3:07Speaker 3: We got lots and lots of juicy things. First of all, okay,
- 3:11Speaker 3: this is cool. We got two pieces of mail from listeners,
- 3:15Speaker 3: which is like unbelievable.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Technically, I think we can say this is fan mail.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I think I don't know. Can we say that?
- 3:24Speaker 3: I don't know?
- 3:24Speaker 1: Nah, I mean that they're more than just fans.
- 3:26Speaker 3: But you know what I mean, friend mail, mail for friends.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Mail from friends sounds weird. Yeah, it does. Almost sounds
- 3:33Speaker 1: like like a sexual thing.
- 3:35Speaker 3: It kind of does. So I'm moving on. But yeah,
- 3:39Speaker 3: I don't have it. So Leah Page, Yeah she sent us.
- 3:44Speaker 1: She sent us a awesome epic handmade Halloween scrap book
- 3:48Speaker 1: with like.
- 3:48Speaker 3: A handmade card and everything. It was like kind of awesome.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Incredible work. So good jobs on that. That was ridiculously cool.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Yeah, it was so sweet.
- 3:57Speaker 1: We'll put that to good use one hundred percent. And
- 3:59Speaker 1: Michelle Canon sent us over some Harry Potter key chains
- 4:02Speaker 1: from Universal with our names on it, yes and everything
- 4:05Speaker 1: so cool.
- 4:06Speaker 3: It's a later day Actually.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Mine is actually not going on a keychain. It went
- 4:10Speaker 1: on my backpack and the little front zipper. Yeah, so
- 4:13Speaker 1: that's my everyday work backpack. It goes with me to
- 4:15Speaker 1: work every day.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Now. Yes, now it has your name on it, so
- 4:17Speaker 3: no one can take it exactly.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I'm like, bitch, that's my bag, hands off. Yeah. I
- 4:22Speaker 1: don't know if anyone remembers King of the Hill if
- 4:26Speaker 1: they ever watched it. I just reminded me of Bobby Hill.
- 4:29Speaker 1: That's my purse, I don't know you, because he taught
- 4:33Speaker 1: he was taking self defense lesson classes. But it was
- 4:36Speaker 1: like he's like a thirteen year old kid. Yeah, but
- 4:38Speaker 1: he was taking women's self defense classes. So he learned
- 4:41Speaker 1: to shout that term that's my purse, I don't know you,
- 4:45Speaker 1: and then kick the attacker in the balls. That's awesome,
- 4:48Speaker 1: That's what it reminded me of. Oh, I want to
- 4:51Speaker 1: talk about Obi Wan Kenobi the series. Okay, first off,
- 4:55Speaker 1: everyone out there. You need to convince Nicole to watch
- 4:58Speaker 1: this series with me, because she's a start.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Thank goodness, what are you doing.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I'm really trying to get you to love Star Wars,
- 5:05Speaker 1: is what I'm trying to do. I haven't watched it yet,
- 5:07Speaker 1: but I've been waiting for this series, like this particular series,
- 5:10Speaker 1: for a long. Look.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Hey, I can't remember I've already asked you this. But
- 5:14Speaker 3: did I have to watch other things?
- 5:16Speaker 1: I mean, you don't, but it helps.
- 5:17Speaker 3: I did watch that one thing because I was into
- 5:19Speaker 3: Baby Yoda.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Yeah, you watched The Mandalorian.
- 5:22Speaker 3: That was good. Actually, I was actually super into that.
- 5:25Speaker 3: It was a good show, and I feel like it
- 5:26Speaker 3: might have had to do a lot with Baby Yoda,
- 5:28Speaker 3: but I'm unsure.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Yeah, everyone went nuts for Baby Yoda, so cute, although
- 5:32Speaker 1: it's technically not Yoda. It's not Baby Yoda. It's Grogu.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Oh okay, just the same species. Yeah, okay. Yeah. We
- 5:40Speaker 1: should actually go back to the patrons though, because both
- 5:44Speaker 1: Michelle and Leah were patrons, and we should go back
- 5:46Speaker 1: and thank our new patrons for this week.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Oh yeah, okay, yeah, let's do it.
- 5:50Speaker 1: We only had one sign up this week, so glory
- 5:54Speaker 1: moment in the spotlight to Alexandria, I'm really sorry if
- 5:57Speaker 1: I say your last name wrong. Heat Meyer Hightemeier. Yeah, awesome,
- 6:02Speaker 1: that's all I know, And I don't know how to say.

- 6:20Speaker 1: ready for it?
- 6:21Speaker 3: Yeah, because we're also recording a Patreon exclusive episode after this,
- 6:27Speaker 3: that's right, which is super awesome.

- 6:32Speaker 3: Yeah, so we got to record two and let's get

- 6:46Speaker 3: Yeah. So they're literally getting two episodes tomorrow, which is
- 6:48Speaker 3: kind of awesome.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it'll be a great day.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Yep.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Okay, so let's do this. Our story is going to
- 6:54Speaker 1: start on July fifteenth, two thousand and eight, in Orlando, Florida,
- 7:00Speaker 1: with a nine one one phone call. So it starts
- 7:03Speaker 1: with two year old Casey Anthony, who was reported missing
- 7:07Speaker 1: by her grandmother Cindy Anthony. During the recorded call, she
- 7:11Speaker 1: was frantic and audibly shook. She told a nine one
- 7:15Speaker 1: one dispatcher that she had not seen her granddaughter for
- 7:18Speaker 1: thirty one days and her her daughter, Casey Anthony, had
- 7:23Speaker 1: just admitted to the fact that someone had taken her.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Oh boy, yes. So after a moment on the call,
- 7:31Speaker 1: Cindy hands the phone over to her daughter, Casey, And
- 7:35Speaker 1: it's a bit odd. The tone in her voice was
- 7:38Speaker 1: much different than her mother's when talking to the nine
- 7:41Speaker 1: one one dispatcher. Okay, so I've got a little insert
- 7:45Speaker 1: from that nine one one call here, I'm gonna play
- 7:47Speaker 1: for you guys. I called her a little bit good
- 7:53Speaker 1: at SIF.
- 7:54Speaker 2: I found that my grandfather has some like she hasn't
- 7:56Speaker 2: listened from. We're talking about it for you, little girl. Oh,
- 8:01Speaker 2: my daughter finally admitted the baby.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I need to find her.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Your daughter admitted that your the baby is. Where did
- 8:09Speaker 2: you sort of took her once?
- 8:10Speaker 3: To go?
- 8:10Speaker 2: My daughter's been looking for I told you my daughter
- 8:12Speaker 2: was no sing for a month.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I just found her today that.
- 8:15Speaker 2: I can't find my granddaughter. She just admitted to me
- 8:18Speaker 2: that she's been trying to find her herself. There's something wrong.
- 8:23Speaker 2: I found my daughter's car today and it's round like
- 8:26Speaker 2: her dead daughter in their own car.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Okay. What is the three year old's name?
- 8:29Speaker 2: Kaylee se air Y l e e. Anthony Hailey Anthony? Yeah?
- 8:35Speaker 2: How long has she been missing for? I have not
- 8:38Speaker 2: seen her since the seventh of June?
- 8:40Speaker 3: Is your daughter there? Yeah?
- 8:42Speaker 2: Can I speak with her?
- 8:45Speaker 3: Okay?
- 8:45Speaker 2: They want to trust you. Hello, Hello, Yeah, can you
- 8:53Speaker 2: tell me what's going on a little bit? I'm sorry,
- 8:55Speaker 2: can you tell me a little bit?
- 8:56Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 8:58Speaker 2: And my daughter's been missing for the last one day? Yeah?
- 9:03Speaker 1: And you know who ever? I know who?
- 9:05Speaker 2: After I've tried to contact her, I actually received a
- 9:08Speaker 2: phone call today now from a number of that is
- 9:11Speaker 2: no longer in service. I did get to speak to
- 9:13Speaker 2: my daughter for about a moment, about a minute, to
- 9:17Speaker 2: have her do you have a name? Her name is
- 9:20Speaker 2: ben Ya Fernanda has been lallas.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Who is that baby? Said?
- 9:25Speaker 2: She's been my nanny for about a year and a half,
- 9:28Speaker 2: almost two years. Why are you calling now? Why didn't
- 9:30Speaker 2: you call it any one days ago? I've been looking
- 9:33Speaker 2: for her and have gone through other resources to try
- 9:37Speaker 2: to find her, which was stupid. I think the officers
- 9:41Speaker 2: are here, the opposite are there.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Yes, So that's the nine one one call to report
- 9:48Speaker 1: the little girl missing.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Wow, that was intense.
- 9:52Speaker 1: It was what do you take away from that call?
- 9:56Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, there was so much because like, yeah,
- 9:59Speaker 3: the grandma, it was just like frantic, and it almost
- 10:01Speaker 3: just sounded like the mom had like gone through some
- 10:03Speaker 3: shit as well or something, because like the mom said
- 10:07Speaker 3: that the grandma sorry, had said that the mom was
- 10:09Speaker 3: also like missing too. Kind of.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Yes, So how it played out is we'll touch on
- 10:16Speaker 1: it here in a little bit. But essentially, the daughter
- 10:19Speaker 1: had been missing for these days with the granddaughter, but
- 10:23Speaker 1: there was communication with the daughter to the grand grandmother. Okay,
- 10:27Speaker 1: so finally the daughter was home and admitted the granddaughter was.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Missing and she was searching for her this whole time, yes,
- 10:36Speaker 3: or trying to get her from the babysitter.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Yes, that's what she does.
- 10:40Speaker 3: So wild I'm just very intrigued.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Well, the some of the conversation though that we just
- 10:46Speaker 1: talked about, it doesn't detail everything. There are actually a
- 10:50Speaker 1: total of three nine to one one calls that were
- 10:52Speaker 1: made in total that began to unravel this whole story. Okay,
- 10:56Speaker 1: First and foremost, it describes how two year old Kayley
- 10:59Speaker 1: was had taken by her babysitter. Her mother, Casey, said
- 11:03Speaker 1: that it happened thirty one days ago, and she's been
- 11:05Speaker 1: trying to find her daughter on her own. Okay. Now,
- 11:10Speaker 1: Casey's mom, however, Kaylee's grandmother is seriously concerned of the
- 11:14Speaker 1: dire situation. We can clearly hear that in her voice,
- 11:18Speaker 1: much more so by the sounds of it than Casey.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Now we didn't hear in that nine on one call
- 11:23Speaker 1: was Cindy's car was impounded. Her daughter had actually stolen
- 11:27Speaker 1: that car from Cindy and had gone with Kaylee out
- 11:31Speaker 1: for the past month, like we were just talking about.
- 11:33Speaker 1: So both of Casey's parents ended up figuring out that
- 11:36Speaker 1: the car was impounded and went to pick up her
- 11:38Speaker 1: daughter or their daughter along with the car. And that's
- 11:42Speaker 1: when they noted a strong smell of what we just
- 11:46Speaker 1: heard in the nine on one call, described by Cindy
- 11:48Speaker 1: as the smell of a dead body coming from the car. Now,
- 11:53Speaker 1: I don't have an audio clip from this other.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Nine I must have missed some shit there because I
- 11:58Speaker 3: don't even remember the smell of Cindy says, it was
- 12:01Speaker 3: hard to understand. It was a bit hard to It
- 12:03Speaker 3: wasn't yeah.
- 12:04Speaker 1: But Cindy in there. One of the things she said
- 12:07Speaker 1: was she's calling for help. She said, I need someone here.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I just picked up my daughter in the car. Smells
- 12:13Speaker 1: like a dead body. Wow. So she says that in
- 12:17Speaker 1: the clip, Holy heck. So the other nine one one calls.
- 12:21Speaker 1: I don't have audio clips from, but I do have
- 12:23Speaker 1: a transcript, and I do have an insert here I'm
- 12:25Speaker 1: going to talk about and this is from one of
- 12:27Speaker 1: the prior nine one one calls. So the nine on
- 12:29Speaker 1: one operator says, and this is between Cindy, the grandmother
- 12:33Speaker 1: and the nine on one operator. So the operator says, Okay,
- 12:37Speaker 1: what did the person do that you need arrested, Cindy says,
- 12:41Speaker 1: my daughter. Nine on one operator for what? Cindy for
- 12:46Speaker 1: stealing an auto and stealing money. I already spoke to
- 12:50Speaker 1: someone who said they would patch me through to Orlando
- 12:53Speaker 1: Sheriff's Department and have a deputy here. I was in
- 12:56Speaker 1: the car and I was going to drive her to
- 12:58Speaker 1: the police station. And no one will, no one is open.
- 13:01Speaker 1: They said they would bring a deputy to my home
- 13:03Speaker 1: when I got home to call them nine on one operator.
- 13:07Speaker 1: So she stole your vehicle, Cindy, Yes, nine on one operator.
- 13:12Speaker 1: When did she do that, Cindy on the thirtieth in
- 13:16Speaker 1: brackets of June. She didn't say June, but that's what
- 13:18Speaker 1: she's referencing. I got it back from the impound. I'd
- 13:21Speaker 1: like to speak to an officer. Can someone come to
- 13:24Speaker 1: my house? So she's trying to get her daughter arrested,
- 13:28Speaker 1: and then in the next nine and one call when
- 13:31Speaker 1: she figures out the granddaughter's missing, she's talking about the
- 13:33Speaker 1: smell of a dead body, granddaughter missing and these thefts.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Oh okay, because there was different dates in there and stuff,
- 13:40Speaker 3: But I guess that doesn't really matter. It was because
- 13:43Speaker 3: she had seen her granddaughter early, earlier on or whatever.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Yes, Cindy had seen her granddaughter about a month ago.
- 13:51Speaker 1: That was the last time she saw her grandfather. That
- 13:53Speaker 1: was the last time she seen her daughter. But there
- 13:55Speaker 1: was communication with her daughter between then. Right.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Why was the police station closed? Are they closed? Sometimes?
- 14:02Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 14:04Speaker 3: I didn't think that they would be, but maybe they are.
- 14:06Speaker 3: I have no idea.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, anyways, maybe just yeah, emergency numbers or something
- 14:10Speaker 1: would be what you contact. Then I'm not certain.
- 14:13Speaker 3: And also like this is just going to terrify parents
- 14:15Speaker 3: because some parents probably have issues leaving their kids with
- 14:18Speaker 3: a babysitter. Yeah, noa, I know I would. I can't
- 14:21Speaker 3: even leave my dog with like a dog sitter without
- 14:25Speaker 3: having issues.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Now that aside though the whole dog sitting babysitting thing,
- 14:31Speaker 1: I do know. This is a whole overload of information
- 14:34Speaker 1: we've gone over so far. This is like jumping in
- 14:36Speaker 1: head first. But the strangest thing about it all seems
- 14:40Speaker 1: to be why Casey was so nonchalant about it. Why
- 14:43Speaker 1: would she leave her daughter missing for thirty one days
- 14:47Speaker 1: and think she could take care of it on her
- 14:49Speaker 1: own without alerting authorities or even just other family members.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Yeah you think maybe a day, but not a whole momth.
- 14:58Speaker 1: So, as you hear through police or sorry, as you heard,
- 15:02Speaker 1: police had arrived to the scene to investigate, and questioning
- 15:05Speaker 1: had begun, and as we all know, family members are
- 15:09Speaker 1: usually the first suspects in any case. They are the
- 15:12Speaker 1: ones who are the closest with victims, and even if
- 15:15Speaker 1: they aren't involved, they can at least provide authorities with
- 15:19Speaker 1: extremely important information regarding important locations, people of interest, strange occurrences,
- 15:24Speaker 1: and any other significant events or information that can help
- 15:27Speaker 1: finding the individuals or solving the case. So police started
- 15:31Speaker 1: questioning Casey right out the bat, and they interviewed her
- 15:34Speaker 1: as a witness fairly casually at start, and unbeknownst to her,
- 15:40Speaker 1: she wasn't under arrest, but she was under extreme scrutiny
- 15:44Speaker 1: as a main witness currently.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Right now, well that's generally how it goes.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Yeah, right, yeah, one hundred percent. So, yeah, the police
- 15:54Speaker 1: were questioning her regarding her story and ultimately regarding her lies.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Oh boy, how old is she? Did we go over that?
- 16:04Speaker 1: Actually I never did look up how old she was.
- 16:07Speaker 3: I'm just so curious. She did sound very young.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Yeah, she's a young mother. I would say, like late
- 16:12Speaker 1: twenties to early thirties.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean she sounded okay, like okay, this
- 16:19Speaker 3: Her voice sounded so kind of chill to me, which
- 16:22Speaker 3: is like unexpected. So I was like, maybe she had
- 16:26Speaker 3: gone through shit herself, or maybe she was just like
- 16:30Speaker 3: I don't know, almost like in shock, shock or even
- 16:33Speaker 3: like under the influence of something or I don't know.
- 16:36Speaker 3: There was just like many things that were going through
- 16:38Speaker 3: my brain.
- 16:39Speaker 1: It's there's gonna be a lot of things going through
- 16:42Speaker 1: your brain throughout this entire caset.
- 16:44Speaker 3: It that way, Okay, Well, it's very sad that a
- 16:46Speaker 3: child is involved here.
- 16:47Speaker 1: It is so. Casey claimed that Kaylie's nanny, Zindaia Zenaida Zanada,
- 16:55Speaker 1: is hyper Nata Sanata also known as Zanni Fernandez Gonzalez,
- 17:00Speaker 1: who she met through a mutual friend, was the individual
- 17:03Speaker 1: to take her daughter. Okay, Now, that mutual friend who
- 17:07Speaker 1: she met Zeneida through, was by the name of Jeffrey
- 17:11Speaker 1: Michael Hopkins. These two had previously met working at Nickelodeon
- 17:15Speaker 1: in Universal Studios Theme Park Cool. Both had worked together
- 17:20Speaker 1: cashtag dream job, hashtag dream job. Could you imagine all
- 17:25Speaker 1: the concession snacks you'd.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Get, Oh my gosh, I would, Or the butter beer, Yeah,
- 17:30Speaker 3: That's what I'm gonna say. I would, but get one
- 17:32Speaker 3: of those like daily one. Oh yeah, honestly one's good
- 17:36Speaker 3: because remember we had some more than one one time
- 17:39Speaker 3: and we got like sick.
- 17:40Speaker 1: No, I'd be cutting coffee into that every day. I'd
- 17:43Speaker 1: be like three four cups of coffee mixed with butter beer.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Oh my guaranteed disgusting, and I would gain so much weight,
- 17:50Speaker 1: but it'd be worth it.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Yeah, worth it, oh gosh u.
- 17:54Speaker 1: So regardless of by this time, Casey stated she sorry.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Casey stated that Jeffrey hadn't worked there for the past
- 18:04Speaker 1: nine or ten months and he had moved away to
- 18:08Speaker 1: various different cities, kind of moving around. However, this would
- 18:12Speaker 1: later be revealed as one of her lies. Later on
- 18:17Speaker 1: in court, Jeffrey would talk or take the stand and
- 18:20Speaker 1: go under oath describing how he worked at Universal in
- 18:22Speaker 1: two thousand and two to two thousand and three and
- 18:25Speaker 1: never worked with Casey at all, nor did he ever
- 18:28Speaker 1: introduce her to anyone by the name of Zeneta Fernandez Gonzalez,
- 18:33Speaker 1: and he never even moved away from the area, described
- 18:36Speaker 1: as Casey either.
- 18:38Speaker 3: What a weird lie because obviously they're going to ask.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Him, yep. And it's not like she lied about one thing.
- 18:43Speaker 1: She lied about every detail regarding him, like he doesn't
- 18:48Speaker 1: even really know where.
- 18:49Speaker 3: That's weird.
- 18:51Speaker 1: They never worked together nothing, okay, so though they didn't
- 18:55Speaker 1: know what just yet, Casey was lying through her teeth
- 18:58Speaker 1: right to the investigator's face. And I do want to
- 19:01Speaker 1: bring up a little bit of a quote here, because
- 19:02Speaker 1: this is one of my favorite quotes and it's by
- 19:04Speaker 1: Abraham Lincoln actually, so to quote him, No man has
- 19:08Speaker 1: a good enough memory to be a successful liar. Yeah,
- 19:12Speaker 1: and that is very much so true.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, yeah, especially me my memory. Shit, there's
- 19:19Speaker 3: no way I could get through a lie. I feel
- 19:21Speaker 3: like it just wouldn't It just wouldn't happen.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Well, the worst thing is it spirals because one lie
- 19:24Speaker 1: leads to another to another to another, and you need
- 19:26Speaker 1: to remember how.
- 19:27Speaker 3: And then who you told what to and oh it's.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Just like diston't so it's it's very much so true.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Now, during questioning, Casey tells the story of how her
- 19:38Speaker 1: daughter went missing on June ninth. She said she dropped
- 19:41Speaker 1: her daughter off to Zenaida to look after her while
- 19:44Speaker 1: she went to work at Universal Studios, the same she
- 19:47Speaker 1: had done for the past year or so. Now, after work,
- 19:51Speaker 1: after her shift was over, she went back to pick
- 19:53Speaker 1: her up, but nobody was home. She knocked on the
- 19:56Speaker 1: door and there was no answer. She tried dialing Zanata's
- 20:00Speaker 1: phone number, but it was now out of service.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Oh god, okay, yeah, actually, at that point you would
- 20:05Speaker 3: be phoning nine one. I feel like, yeah, kind of
- 20:08Speaker 3: freaking out.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I would I would do the same, but clearly she didn't. Now.
- 20:14Speaker 1: One of Casey's alibis was one of her co workers
- 20:18Speaker 1: by the name of Juliette Lewis. As it turns out,
- 20:21Speaker 1: though Juliette Lewis doesn't even exist.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Oh boy, okay, she.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Claims she was an event coordinator alongside her at Universal Studios.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Juliette Lewis not a real person. Wow. And of course,
- 20:35Speaker 1: which police would soon find out.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Well, yeah, they're gonna look at all this.
- 20:40Speaker 1: So before they found out all these lies though, because
- 20:42Speaker 1: this is only the same day as the missing report,
- 20:45Speaker 1: or maybe even the next day, so before they figured
- 20:48Speaker 1: all this out, they asked Casey if she could lead
- 20:52Speaker 1: them to places of interest, you know, such as places
- 20:54Speaker 1: like Zanada's baby or where she babysat, and of course
- 20:58Speaker 1: Casey's workplace. So the very next day after the missing report,
- 21:02Speaker 1: on July sixteenth, she took them to Universal Studios, where
- 21:06Speaker 1: she led them through the park to her office where
- 21:08Speaker 1: she worked. They walked through the busy places, through concession stands,
- 21:13Speaker 1: and through the attractions, through the crowds and they went
- 21:16Speaker 1: towards a long building at the end all the way
- 21:20Speaker 1: at the end of the park. It was almost a
- 21:21Speaker 1: twenty five minute walk. She led them through the park
- 21:24Speaker 1: towards her office, where apparently she would turn around, face police,
- 21:30Speaker 1: laugh and admit she doesn't actually even work there anymore.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Oh okay, I was not expecting that.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that one threw me for a fucking loop.
- 21:41Speaker 3: How did they even get in and stuff? Then?
- 21:43Speaker 1: Well, I mean it's police, an investigation.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Oh, I guess.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Yeah, so they're like, yeah, like we're doing an investigator.
- 21:49Speaker 3: No matter what, they'd probably just be like, yeah, go in, yeah, wow, Okay,
- 21:53Speaker 3: I was not expecting that.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Yeah, So she just let them on a wild goose
- 21:56Speaker 1: chase and we're twenty five minutes? Yeah, Like, what what's
- 22:00Speaker 1: the thought process you doing there?
- 22:01Speaker 3: Maybe they should have got on a ride too, really
- 22:04Speaker 3: just lived it.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Off the Oh I think they went on the ride.
- 22:07Speaker 1: The whole ride of this as a ride in itself,
- 22:10Speaker 1: that's true. Yeah, But like I just can't understand like
- 22:12Speaker 1: how like she was. She literally walked as far as
- 22:16Speaker 1: she could, She went as far with this lie as
- 22:18Speaker 1: she possibly could. At that gate, she knows she's going
- 22:21Speaker 1: to get caught. Yeah, she still walked that twenty five
- 22:23Speaker 1: minutes to the very last moment.
- 22:26Speaker 3: HM, that's so interesting. I just yeah, it's very hard
- 22:30Speaker 3: to comprehend.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Yeah. So, of course this right away led to her
- 22:34Speaker 1: immediate arrest on the spot, which from there she was
- 22:38Speaker 1: officially out loud suspect number one.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Oh no, yeah, not good.
- 22:43Speaker 1: So from here Casey would undergo interrogation, questioning, and of course,
- 22:47Speaker 1: eventually courtroom appearances, all while maintaining her innocence and that
- 22:51Speaker 1: the nanny took her daughter. Now, while this was going on,
- 22:55Speaker 1: the world was hearing all about this missing girl. Kaylee's
- 23:00Speaker 1: even grace the cover of People's magazine on the issue
- 23:03Speaker 1: of February ninth, two thousand and nine. Oh did it,
- 23:06Speaker 1: hey did? Everyone wanted to find her, and her grandparents,
- 23:10Speaker 1: Cindy and George Anthony, were at the center. They were
- 23:13Speaker 1: doing interviews, putting up posters, printing out T shirts, anything
- 23:16Speaker 1: they could do to help find their granddaughter and spread
- 23:19Speaker 1: that word. Their hearts were clearly heavy, and they were
- 23:22Speaker 1: wanting to bring her home.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Oh that's so sad.
- 23:26Speaker 1: Casey, however, almost seemed to have given up on her daughter.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Why.
- 23:31Speaker 3: I just don't understand I don't get it either. Well,
- 23:36Speaker 3: she knows something.
- 23:37Speaker 1: There's something there, whether it's maybe just in her heart
- 23:43Speaker 1: she knew something was wrong and it couldn't be helped,
- 23:47Speaker 1: or maybe she knows more than she's saying. Who knows,
- 23:50Speaker 1: but there's something there that's different. While she was in prison,
- 23:55Speaker 1: she was actually visited by her parents. They informed her
- 23:58Speaker 1: about the progression of the search, what was going on,
- 24:00Speaker 1: how far Keiley's name was being spread, But Casey almost
- 24:04Speaker 1: didn't even seem to care. It's really hard to put
- 24:08Speaker 1: into words unless the conversation turned to what she was
- 24:11Speaker 1: doing and how she was doing behind bars. When the
- 24:15Speaker 1: topic turned to her, it would almost always bring her
- 24:18Speaker 1: to tears, like how she's doing, what she's going through,
- 24:21Speaker 1: what she's eating, how she's keeping busy, how she misses
- 24:24Speaker 1: her parents. But the moment it turned to a conversation
- 24:27Speaker 1: about her daughter's disappearance, she was almost so nonchalant the
- 24:31Speaker 1: tears would stop.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Yeah, she's almost it's oh, how do you word this?
- 24:35Speaker 3: But like push or it's like sheltering her brain what
- 24:42Speaker 3: would be the word, Like making it so that it's
- 24:46Speaker 3: so terrible that she's just like forcing it out of
- 24:48Speaker 3: her mind. Almost like it's just not even in there.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Okay, No, fair enough, she don't cutting that off? Yeah okay?
- 24:54Speaker 3: Or or I almost like she might even have like
- 24:56Speaker 3: some sort of like mental illness or something.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Well, potentially and like honestly, since his case, psychiatrists and
- 25:03Speaker 1: web slutes alike have actually pointed out her behavior being
- 25:06Speaker 1: akin to a pathological liar, meaning she essentially can't help
- 25:10Speaker 1: but lie, not necessarily having a reason or a rhyme
- 25:15Speaker 1: to do thro but she just does.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. I'm almost like thinking her mental
- 25:19Speaker 3: health or something is suffering of sorts.
- 25:21Speaker 1: So I don't want to confuse that not necessarily saying
- 25:23Speaker 1: she's diagnosed with that that she is, but it's pointed
- 25:27Speaker 1: out that it very much could be, and in fact,
- 25:29Speaker 1: even if you look back on some of her earlier life,
- 25:31Speaker 1: there is evidence to support how she could have become
- 25:34Speaker 1: someone like that. For example, when she was going to
- 25:38Speaker 1: post secondary, she got into the habit of skipping classes
- 25:41Speaker 1: and going out partying a lot, so much so that
- 25:44Speaker 1: she definitely did not make graduations. There was no way
- 25:48Speaker 1: she was going to make it, so once her parents
- 25:50Speaker 1: actually found out, Casey would lie to her parents, and
- 25:54Speaker 1: she told him that the school must have messed up
- 25:56Speaker 1: her attendance sheet and it was them who screwed up
- 26:00Speaker 1: her graduation. It wasn't her fault, it was the school's fault.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Her parents, for whatever reason, I don't know, maybe bless
- 26:07Speaker 1: their little girls sort of situation, they believed her and
- 26:10Speaker 1: to cover up her not graduating, they lied to their
- 26:13Speaker 1: friends and family said she graduated anyway, even through her
- 26:16Speaker 1: a great big grad party. Oh really yes?
- 26:21Speaker 3: So wow?
- 26:22Speaker 1: Almost supporting her lies? And who knows how far this
- 26:26Speaker 1: goes into her childhood in her past. Who knows how
- 26:29Speaker 1: much her lies have been supported as she grew up.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Well, yeah, it was almost like they could do she
- 26:34Speaker 3: could do no wrong in their their mind though, too.
- 26:37Speaker 1: Yeah, so who knows how deep that is?
- 26:39Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 26:41Speaker 1: Now sorry? Moving forward on December eleventh, two thousand and eight.
- 26:46Speaker 1: It is unfortunate, but two year old Kaylee Anthony's remains
- 26:51Speaker 1: would be found.
- 26:52Speaker 3: Not till December? Is that what you're true?
- 26:54Speaker 1: Two thousand and eight?
- 26:56Speaker 3: Is that the same year though? Right?
- 26:58Speaker 2: No?
- 26:59Speaker 1: Is it? Now? I'm second guessing myself. Oh it is
- 27:02Speaker 1: too okay? Yeah, so yeah, December of two thousand and eight,
- 27:04Speaker 1: that's right?
- 27:05Speaker 3: Okay, Still, that's like a long time. I didn't expect
- 27:09Speaker 3: it to go on that long.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's quite a while, honestly.
- 27:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Now I need to scroll backworth find where it was
- 27:17Speaker 1: at me. You did, what do we got? Okay? Here
- 27:21Speaker 1: I am. It's all good. So they found her remains
- 27:23Speaker 1: on December eleventh of two thousand and eight, and by
- 27:25Speaker 1: this time they were more so skeletal remains when she
- 27:29Speaker 1: was found, and she was found less than a mile
- 27:32Speaker 1: from Casey's parents' house, where she was wrapped up in
- 27:36Speaker 1: a Winnie the Pooh blanket Oh gosh, and stuffed inside
- 27:40Speaker 1: a laundry bag.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Oh man, Yeah, okay, the Winnie the Pooh blanket. That's like,
- 27:47Speaker 3: that's that's a lot.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Yeah. And it was a swampy kind of usted aio
- 27:51Speaker 1: that she was found.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Wow.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Wow, Okay, it's heavy on the heart, isn't it.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Well, yeah, like that's just it's super all my gosh.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Investigative reports and trial testimonies did vary a bit between
- 28:06Speaker 1: one thing that happened because she was also found with
- 28:09Speaker 1: duct tape around her. Now that duct tape was either
- 28:13Speaker 1: being found near the front of this of her skull
- 28:17Speaker 1: or on the mouth of her skull. So those are
- 28:20Speaker 1: the varying reports. But either way, duct tape was found
- 28:23Speaker 1: in the proximity of her mouth inside the laundry bag
- 28:27Speaker 1: with her as well. Most likely she was suffocated. Oh gee,
- 28:34Speaker 1: most likely.
- 28:37Speaker 3: Oh and I just have like a serious question, but
- 28:39Speaker 3: I can wait to see how I answer.
- 28:41Speaker 1: No, it's all good. What's the question.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Well, I'm just curious if, like if the body had
- 28:46Speaker 3: been like decomposing for quite a while, or if it
- 28:51Speaker 3: was like, hadn't been there that long, Like, I'm just curious.
- 28:54Speaker 1: No, it was they they, I mean, there there's a
- 28:58Speaker 1: timeline established. There's a last time that Casey or sorry,
- 29:02Speaker 1: Kaylee was seen by her grandparents. There is witnesses saying
- 29:06Speaker 1: that this was a date, you know, thirty one days
- 29:08Speaker 1: prior to the call. So then to now, so you
- 29:11Speaker 1: have June was the last time she was seen to December.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Yeah, well I was just curious if maybe, like what
- 29:17Speaker 3: if she'd only been there for a month, so like,
- 29:19Speaker 3: had she been alive for a while well everyone was
- 29:22Speaker 3: searching and stuff, or had she actually been gone for
- 29:24Speaker 3: like that whole time.
- 29:26Speaker 1: No, she had, she'd pretty much We've got a timeline,
- 29:29Speaker 1: we've got an estimated timeline. Okay, so we'll get to
- 29:32Speaker 1: that though, Okay. Moving on to April thirteenth of two
- 29:36Speaker 1: thousand and nine, prosecutors announced that they would plan to
- 29:40Speaker 1: seek the death penalty in the case regarding the death
- 29:44Speaker 1: of two year old Kaylee Anthony.
- 29:46Speaker 3: Oh boy, I mean that's pretty brutal. That's that is
- 29:50Speaker 3: just a baby. That's a baby, yeah, oh boy, that
- 29:55Speaker 3: did not deserve to die, that had their whole life
- 29:57Speaker 3: ahead of them. It's really traumatic.
- 30:00Speaker 1: And I mean death is something that everyone has to
- 30:03Speaker 1: deal with eventually, but when it comes so young and
- 30:06Speaker 1: so unnatural and by the hands of a potential family member,
- 30:11Speaker 1: it just gets heavier and heavier, way worse.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Yeah, May four, twenty eleven, the trial would begin in Orlando, Florida.
- 30:20Speaker 1: The prosecution stated that Casey Anthony used duct tape to
- 30:25Speaker 1: suffocate her daughter, Kaylee Anthony. Now, the defense would contend
- 30:31Speaker 1: that she actually didn't get suffocated by duct tape, and
- 30:35Speaker 1: that she actually drowned in the grandparents' swimming pool. That
- 30:39Speaker 1: Casey's father, George, warned Casey that would imprison her for
- 30:45Speaker 1: life for child neglect if authorities figured it out, So
- 30:51Speaker 1: the two of them would then cover up the death,
- 30:54Speaker 1: which is why she failed to report the incident for
- 30:57Speaker 1: thirty one days. Oh wow, that is their story.
- 31:03Speaker 3: That's the defense's story.
- 31:04Speaker 1: That's the defense. But they've got a little bit more
- 31:06Speaker 1: to it though too. They also said that George Anthony
- 31:11Speaker 1: Casey's father had sexually molested Casey as a child, and
- 31:16Speaker 1: she had the habit of hiding her pain and lying.
- 31:21Speaker 3: Oh geez. Okay, So this is this mother just learning
- 31:26Speaker 3: a lot of things about her family marring this court case.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Holy heck.
- 31:32Speaker 1: The defense team also admitted that Casey had fabricated the
- 31:35Speaker 1: story of the nanny name Zenaida Uh. And they also
- 31:39Speaker 1: questioned the individual who found the remains, actually saying that
- 31:45Speaker 1: they potentially removed them from elsewhere, and question police motives
- 31:49Speaker 1: pursuing a murder investigation. So there's that was a little excessive.
- 31:54Speaker 1: There was no There was no evidence regarding that as
- 31:57Speaker 1: far as I could find. But it was one claim
- 31:59Speaker 1: that the defense was chasing.
- 32:01Speaker 3: You know, It's so interesting because I was almost wondering
- 32:03Speaker 3: if the nanny thing was actually legit too.
- 32:06Speaker 1: No, it was complete fabricated. Nanny didn't exist, Nanny wasn't real.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Okay, yep, okay.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Now the prosecutors would actually call George Anthony Casey's father
- 32:18Speaker 1: as their first witness, and he denied any sort of
- 32:23Speaker 1: sexual abuse towards his daughter Casey or covering up the
- 32:27Speaker 1: death of his granddaughter.
- 32:29Speaker 3: So hmmm, wow, okay, Oh my gosh. So also, I
- 32:34Speaker 3: was thinking the grandma was learning a lot of things.
- 32:37Speaker 3: But imagine if this this dad or grandpa or whatever
- 32:40Speaker 3: was literally like hearing these things that he was being
- 32:44Speaker 3: accused of that he didn't do.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Oh and not only that, it's his daughter in court
- 32:50Speaker 1: accusing him of them.
- 32:51Speaker 3: Oh my, yeah, exactly, Like holy, okay.
- 32:54Speaker 1: That's heavy. That would just that that's heavy on both sides.
- 32:59Speaker 1: If it was true, that is heavy for Casey.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:02Speaker 1: If it's not true, that is heavy for Jordan.
- 33:04Speaker 3: That's a stab in the freaking heart.
- 33:08Speaker 1: It's not true. There's no win scenario.
- 33:10Speaker 3: Oh no, there isn't. Wow.
- 33:13Speaker 1: During her trial, Casey was graced, luckily for her with
- 33:18Speaker 1: an incredible defense team, which included a man by the
- 33:22Speaker 1: name of Patrick McKenna, who is known for his work
- 33:25Speaker 1: on the defense of the O. J. Simpson case. Okay,
- 33:28Speaker 1: so the individual who said no, it couldn't have been me.
- 33:31Speaker 1: The glove doesn't fit. Yeah, he worked for his case.
- 33:34Speaker 1: He got him off scot free.
- 33:35Speaker 3: So he's good, is what you're saying.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Yeah, he's good. The prosecution, however, wasn't going to go
- 33:42Speaker 1: down without a fight. They had a lot of seriously
- 33:46Speaker 1: incriminating evidence regarding motive and her mental health to push forward,
- 33:51Speaker 1: and that they did. Now, the timeline and evidence they
- 33:54Speaker 1: came up with went as follows. Now, bear with me,
- 33:57Speaker 1: this is I'm gonna be rambled a lot here. There's
- 34:01Speaker 1: a lot of information to take inka. So June sixteenth,
- 34:05Speaker 1: two thousand and eight, Kaylee was last seen alive at
- 34:08Speaker 1: the Anthony family residence at seven am. Cindy testified that
- 34:13Speaker 1: she left for work a few minutes before seven am
- 34:16Speaker 1: while everyone, including Kaylee and Casey were in the home
- 34:19Speaker 1: of sleep seven fifty two am. Activity on Casey's phone
- 34:24Speaker 1: password sorry. Activity on Casey's password protected account on MySpace
- 34:29Speaker 1: show she's searched for quote unquote shot girls costume for
- 34:34Speaker 1: a nightclub event. Nine to fifty six am. Casey's aim
- 34:39Speaker 1: account was used to chat on the computer twelve fifty pm.
- 34:43Speaker 1: According to George Kayley's a Kaylee departed with Casey by
- 34:47Speaker 1: car around twelve to fifty PM with backpacks on their shoulder. However,
- 34:52Speaker 1: the defense disputed this. George testified that Casey and Kayley
- 34:57Speaker 1: left the house at twelve fifty where first their computer
- 35:00Speaker 1: activity at the home computer associated with Casey's account and
- 35:04Speaker 1: her cell phone pings, not leaving the area of the
- 35:07Speaker 1: home until about four eleven PM. So it's a contradictory
- 35:11Speaker 1: statement there.
- 35:11Speaker 3: Which is actually a pretty big gap of time.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Yes, it is one thirty nine PM activity associated with
- 35:18Speaker 1: Casey's aim, MySpace and Facebook accounts at one point thirty
- 35:23Speaker 1: or sorry, one thirty nine pm on the home computer.
- 35:26Speaker 1: The last browser activity during that session is at one
- 35:29Speaker 1: forty two PM. One forty four pm Casey calls her
- 35:33Speaker 1: friend Amy, two twenty one PM calls with Amy, and
- 35:39Speaker 1: two thirty PM George Anthony testifies that he left the
- 35:42Speaker 1: home at this time to go to work. Two forty
- 35:44Speaker 1: nine PM Casey's Anthony Sorry, Casey Anthony's cell phone connects
- 35:49Speaker 1: with the tower nearest the home, and the Anthony family's
- 35:52Speaker 1: desktop computer is activated by someone using a password protected
- 35:55Speaker 1: account that Casey used. Two fifty one PM, a Google
- 36:00Speaker 1: search is made for the term quote unquote fool proof suffocation.
- 36:05Speaker 1: The user clicks on an article criticizing pro suicide websites
- 36:10Speaker 1: that promote quote fool proof ways to Die. Two fifty
- 36:15Speaker 1: two pm activity on MySpace. Two fifty two pm, Casey
- 36:18Speaker 1: answers a phone call from Jesse Grund. He describes his
- 36:21Speaker 1: conversation as quote an abnormal where Casey stated to him
- 36:27Speaker 1: that her parents were divorcing and she needs to find
- 36:29Speaker 1: a new place to live. Three or four pm, Casey
- 36:32Speaker 1: disconnects a phone call from Jesse Grund to take an
- 36:35Speaker 1: incoming call from George Anthony, her father. According to defense,
- 36:39Speaker 1: the twenty six second call from her father took place
- 36:42Speaker 1: as soon as he got to work to tell her
- 36:44Speaker 1: quote from the defense, I took care of everything. Tell
- 36:48Speaker 1: her he disposed the to tell her that he disposed
- 36:51Speaker 1: the body in warning her not to tell her mother
- 36:53Speaker 1: about the child's death. That's according to.
- 36:55Speaker 3: The defense wow.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Three point thirty four pm, Casey made a phone call
- 36:59Speaker 1: to her boyfriend Tony unanswered. Between four ten and four fifteen,
- 37:04Speaker 1: Casey made six unanswered phone calls to her mother. Four
- 37:07Speaker 1: eleven PM, casey cell phone pings indicating it was near
- 37:11Speaker 1: the house, until she headed towards Lorenzo's apartment at for
- 37:14Speaker 1: eleven pm, seven fifty four pm. She and Lorenzo are
- 37:18Speaker 1: seen entering and walking around casually at Blockbuster Video store.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Kaylee is not with them.
- 37:29Speaker 3: I hate so much of that. I don't even know
- 37:32Speaker 3: what to say.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Holy, So that is that's the last day that
- 37:39Speaker 1: Casey the Kaylee sorry was ever seen. That is the
- 37:43Speaker 1: activity throughout the day. Now, there are some days to
- 37:46Speaker 1: note here following up to the case and the timeline
- 37:49Speaker 1: as well. So we have June seventeenth, George and Cindy.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Anthony noticed that the gate to the swimming pool is
- 37:55Speaker 1: open and the ladder is next to the pool. June
- 37:59Speaker 1: twentieth is captured in various photos partying at Fusion nightclub
- 38:03Speaker 1: and participating in quote a hot body contest, oh my.
- 38:09Speaker 1: June twenty third, Anthony Lorenzo testified that he helped Casey
- 38:13Speaker 1: break into the shed at her parents' home and take
- 38:15Speaker 1: gas cans for Casey's car, which had run out of gas.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Lorenzo said he watched Casey open the trunk of her car,
- 38:21Speaker 1: Although he did not see inside of the trunk, he
- 38:24Speaker 1: said there was no odor that he could detect. June
- 38:27Speaker 1: twenty fourth, George called police to report a break in
- 38:30Speaker 1: and report the gas cans missing. Later this day, he
- 38:33Speaker 1: saw Casey at the Anthony residence and confronted her about
- 38:36Speaker 1: taking them. George said that when he went to get
- 38:39Speaker 1: them out of his daughter's car, he ran past them quickly.
- 38:42Speaker 1: She ran past them quickly, sorry, quickly opened the trunk
- 38:45Speaker 1: and retrieved the gas cans herself, yelling here's your fucking
- 38:48Speaker 1: gas cans. George testified that he smelled gasoline in car,
- 38:52Speaker 1: but did not detect any other odors. June thirtieth, Casey's
- 38:56Speaker 1: car is towed from a parking lot after being there
- 38:59Speaker 1: for several days. Her purse and a child's car seat
- 39:02Speaker 1: are found in the car's back seat. July second, Casey
- 39:05Speaker 1: gets a tattoo on her back saying bella vita, which
- 39:08Speaker 1: means beautiful life in Italian. July fifteenth, nine to one
- 39:12Speaker 1: phone call was made to report Kaylee officially missing. Wow,
- 39:19Speaker 1: which brings us to where we are now.
- 39:23Speaker 3: Okay, okay, I need to go back to like the
- 39:27Speaker 3: Google search of the strangulation thing, which was so crazy. Yeah,
- 39:30Speaker 3: I mean, I can't super drudge. My Google history is
- 39:33Speaker 3: really fucked up. But I'm also like doing true crime podcasts,
- 39:38Speaker 3: So that's really messed up. And the fact that she
- 39:40Speaker 3: got the tattoo, I feel like, is also like super
- 39:43Speaker 3: messed up.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Now there is something else that's super messed up
- 39:48Speaker 1: that I wanted to discuss here. That's not technically in
- 39:50Speaker 1: the timeline, but it was brought into evidence. So this
- 39:54Speaker 1: takes place on June twenty first, a couple weeks after
- 39:58Speaker 1: her disappearance, and it is a entry into her diary.
- 40:05Speaker 1: The diary entry says June twenty first, and it reads this,
- 40:09Speaker 1: I have no regrets, just a bit worried. I just
- 40:13Speaker 1: want for everything to work out. Okay. I completely trust
- 40:16Speaker 1: my own judgment, and I know that I made the
- 40:18Speaker 1: right decision. I just hope that the end justifies the means.
- 40:22Speaker 1: I want to know what the future will hold for me.
- 40:25Speaker 1: I guess I will soon see. This is the happiest
- 40:27Speaker 1: that I have been in a very long time. I
- 40:30Speaker 1: hope that my happiness will continue to grow. I've made
- 40:33Speaker 1: new friends that I really like. I've surrounded myself with
- 40:36Speaker 1: good people. I'm finally happy. Let's just hope that it
- 40:39Speaker 1: doesn't change.
- 40:43Speaker 3: Okay, this just keeps getting worse and worse and worse.
- 40:48Speaker 3: If you needed. Okay, there are other means of like
- 40:53Speaker 3: if you decided you didn't want to be a parent, right,
- 40:57Speaker 3: or you needed to live a different life or a
- 40:59Speaker 3: happier life. It's like there's other means of like not
- 41:03Speaker 3: being a parent. Then then I don't know then what
- 41:07Speaker 3: everyone is thinking potentially happened. M m.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Well, I mean this like, this is admittedly after her
- 41:14Speaker 1: daughter is missing, and this is an entry into her diary.
- 41:18Speaker 3: And so if if the daughter is missing, there is
- 41:20Speaker 3: like no way in hell that she should be living
- 41:23Speaker 3: her best life. Yeah, like, no way.
- 41:26Speaker 1: I am finally happy. Let's just hope that it doesn't change.
- 41:30Speaker 1: Are you fucking kidding me?
- 41:31Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, this is just Oh I just don't
- 41:34Speaker 3: like this.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Yeah. I've been wanting to research this case for a
- 41:37Speaker 1: while and it's a whole lot more of a can
- 41:39Speaker 1: of worms than I ever expected it.
- 41:41Speaker 3: It's a lot.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Now. The world was sure that Casey was going to
- 41:45Speaker 1: be found guilty of this until her defense made their
- 41:48Speaker 1: closing statement.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Okay, I want to hear it. What is this?
- 41:52Speaker 1: Well, the closing statement is rather long winded, so I'm
- 41:54Speaker 1: not going to go into that exact quotations or anything
- 41:57Speaker 1: like that that's fine, but you can find it up
- 41:58Speaker 1: on YouTube. It's I do recommend you go watch it now.
- 42:02Speaker 1: They pointed out, basically as a sum that all the
- 42:05Speaker 1: evidence against Casey showed a distraught mother, it showed a
- 42:10Speaker 1: victim of circumstance, and that they claimed that the prosecution
- 42:14Speaker 1: was playing on the emotions of the jury as they
- 42:16Speaker 1: painted Casey in the worst light possible, all to make
- 42:19Speaker 1: her look guilty.
- 42:20Speaker 3: Of course, yeah, that probably happened.
- 42:23Speaker 1: Excuse me, I just burped. Wow. I tried to make
- 42:27Speaker 1: it quiet. It didn't really work. So because of all this,
- 42:30Speaker 1: they had the jury against Casey even though there was
- 42:37Speaker 1: zero evidence tying her to the death of her daughter.
- 42:42Speaker 1: There was zero evidence to show she did anything to
- 42:45Speaker 1: cause any harm to Kaylee. There was zero evidence to
- 42:49Speaker 1: show she knew anything. The death of Casey. I'm sorry
- 42:55Speaker 1: Kaylee Anthony was one hundred percent unsolved, and that all
- 42:59Speaker 1: the prosecut had was pure speculation against it offendant. And yeah,
- 43:05Speaker 1: after that, they held up their their story of the
- 43:07Speaker 1: accidental drowning in the grandparents pool. Hmmm, they have a point.
- 43:14Speaker 1: There is a lot of speculation. There's a lot of
- 43:16Speaker 1: fucked up shit going don't get me wrong. But there's
- 43:19Speaker 1: not I drop of blood. Well, yeah, there's not a hair,
- 43:24Speaker 1: there's not a fingerprint.
- 43:25Speaker 3: I mean we we've done other cases like that too,
- 43:28Speaker 3: where it's just it makes sense I guess that the
- 43:32Speaker 3: person did it, but then there is really no evidence
- 43:35Speaker 3: at all. But then there's no evidence for whoever anyone
- 43:39Speaker 3: that did it. So it's like someone had to have
- 43:42Speaker 3: done this.
- 43:43Speaker 1: Yeah someone did. Yeah, but there's no more proof to
- 43:47Speaker 1: show that she did it than I did it.
- 43:49Speaker 3: Technically, Oh my gosh, technically there was no evidence on
- 43:54Speaker 3: the body whatsoever?
- 43:55Speaker 1: Then? Eh, really no evidence found?
- 43:57Speaker 3: Would they not have been able to tell if the
- 43:59Speaker 3: if the my daughter had drowned? Verse?
- 44:02Speaker 1: Like it was more so skeletal remains by the time
- 44:05Speaker 1: they found her, so cause was not easy to find, right, Okay,
- 44:10Speaker 1: so it speculated it was suffocation speculated, hmm. And that's
- 44:16Speaker 1: all they have is speculation, which sucks.
- 44:21Speaker 3: Yeah, that sucks, It really does, because, like, I want
- 44:25Speaker 3: to know what the freak happened here, I'd really love
- 44:27Speaker 3: to know.
- 44:28Speaker 1: Well, I think we all would. But what happened next
- 44:32Speaker 1: was on July fifth of twenty eleven, after about ten
- 44:36Speaker 1: hours of deliberation, the jury found Casey Anthony not guilty
- 44:41Speaker 1: of the first degree murder, not guilty of aggravated manslaughter,
- 44:45Speaker 1: and not guilty of aggravated child abuse. They did, however,
- 44:51Speaker 1: convict her of four misdemeanor charges of giving false information
- 44:55Speaker 1: to law enforcement.
- 44:57Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, well she definitely did that.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Yeah. So she was sentenced to one year in county
- 45:02Speaker 1: jail and up to one thousand dollars in fine for
- 45:04Speaker 1: each of the four misdemeanors, and the judge ordered the
- 45:08Speaker 1: sentence to run consecutively, but based on the credit years
- 45:12Speaker 1: she had already served. Based on what she'd served as,
- 45:15Speaker 1: she would end up only serving ten days after her
- 45:17Speaker 1: sentencing because she had already served the time.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, well, I don't know what to say. That's crazy.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Well, as of today, Casey is a free woman, living
- 45:33Speaker 1: her life as she pleas. She still upholds that she
- 45:36Speaker 1: doesn't know what happened to her daughter and that she
- 45:39Speaker 1: doesn't care what anyone thinks about it. She's also working
- 45:43Speaker 1: as a private investigator now alongside Patrick McKenna, her defense investigator. Really,
- 45:51Speaker 1: there's no evidence to show any sort of romantic relationship,
- 45:55Speaker 1: but yeah, she's now an investigator alongside him, and she
- 45:59Speaker 1: says that she's good at what she does because she
- 46:01Speaker 1: uses the tactics that were used against her in her case,
- 46:04Speaker 1: but this way in her turn doing them for good
- 46:08Speaker 1: now instead.
- 46:09Speaker 3: That's so interesting that the lawyer and defense or whatever
- 46:14Speaker 3: just believed her that much. So, I mean, that's something.
- 46:18Speaker 3: But the thing is like she just has to have
- 46:20Speaker 3: been heartbroken, like her daughter is good, but it doesn't seem.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Like she is.
- 46:26Speaker 1: She knows something something. I know that much because if
- 46:31Speaker 1: her claims are then nanny took my daughter, and then
- 46:36Speaker 1: in court it's found out that nanny doesn't even exist. Well,
- 46:40Speaker 1: then what the fuck was it?
- 46:41Speaker 3: Mm hm yeah, I mean there's just too many lies.
- 46:46Speaker 3: There's there's too many and.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Like we mentioned, the idea of being a pathological liar
- 46:52Speaker 1: very real. It stated that the dad had helped her
- 46:58Speaker 1: cover up an accidental death, but the dad would on
- 47:00Speaker 1: trial saying that didn't happen. So someone is lying.
- 47:05Speaker 3: I wonder if she has any relationship on her parents
- 47:08Speaker 3: after this.
- 47:09Speaker 1: I would assume not.
- 47:10Speaker 3: Yeah, probably not.
- 47:12Speaker 1: I don't know, but I would assume not.
- 47:14Speaker 3: They would have to be incredibly forgiving people, no kidding
- 47:17Speaker 3: how what she did.
- 47:18Speaker 1: That would take a lot of strength. Yeah, and I
- 47:20Speaker 1: mean if they do have that strength, good on them,
- 47:22Speaker 1: that that's good. Yeah, but I don't know if I
- 47:25Speaker 1: could do that.
- 47:25Speaker 3: No, No, not at all.
- 47:27Speaker 1: So that is the story of Kaylee Anthony and Casey Anthony.
- 47:35Speaker 3: I really want to see a picture of this little
- 47:36Speaker 3: girl to see if I recognize her. That's just heartbroken.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Well, well, we'll definitely put that People magazine cover up
- 47:43Speaker 1: on her Instagram on Facebook.
- 47:44Speaker 3: Okay, so yeah, because we I mean I've always like,
- 47:48Speaker 3: you're just at the grocery store and you look at
- 47:50Speaker 3: these these magazines all the time, right, so I'm curious,
- 47:54Speaker 3: Well I do anyway, I don't know if you do.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Do you? I mean I see them, I don't specifically
- 47:59Speaker 1: go out on my way to investigate them.
- 48:01Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, I'll you should grab one and like look
- 48:03Speaker 3: at it lots of times. So I'm just like curious
- 48:05Speaker 3: to know if I would recognize this picture.
- 48:06Speaker 1: So no, my my usual standing in the grocery store
- 48:10Speaker 1: aisle and I see them as I'm usually eye rolling
- 48:13Speaker 1: at the celebrity gossip. Oh my god, what has Brad
- 48:16Speaker 1: Pitt done?
- 48:16Speaker 3: Now? Yeah, like picking it up, reading the whole cover,
- 48:19Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely different perspectives that way.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Yeah, totally.
- 48:24Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, well that's the case.
- 48:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that's definitely like wild. My brain is
- 48:32Speaker 3: just like still going crazy.
- 48:33Speaker 1: So what's the case that we're about to record for Patreon.
- 48:36Speaker 3: It's kind of a doozy. It's a big one. It
- 48:38Speaker 3: is the case of Joe Methani.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Oh snap, I know that one.
- 48:44Speaker 3: So this is the nasty mofo that allegedly served his
- 48:48Speaker 3: victims to innocent bystanders via an open pit beef stand.
- 48:54Speaker 1: Delicious and nutritious. Yeah yeah, Soilent Green's coming up on
- 48:58Speaker 1: the on the Patriot epis.
- 48:59Speaker 3: So clearly yeah, yeah, they're in for it.
- 49:02Speaker 1: If you want to give that a listen, you can
- 49:03Speaker 1: find us over on Patreon. You can sign up for
